I agreed the nice and quality definitions it display on the screen from the pictures as wallpaper and also taken from the camera. Mp3 cannot works as ringtone, but the video can be used as ringtone anyway:) Japanese made phone is reliable and durable, hassle free. I been using the phone for 1 year and i still like it.

I still using this phone after 1 year, it still works well. I agreed the picture set for wallpaper even from its camera looks very high definitions one the screen. I enjoyed very much the phone. Japanese Phone is very durable and reliable. Mp3 cannot used as ringtone but, u can try video as ringtone:)

Well, this phone is also known as the NEC 728 (at least in Hong Kong, where I got it). It was disappointing when I found out that you cannot play mp3 ringtones, but can use it as an mp3 player. Camera quality isn't all that great, it may look good from the screen, but when its saved, it looks like crap. The video function is limited to between 30 seconds to around 40s. I was hoping for a stronger speaker, but at times its weak. Also, sometimes people on the other side experience 'echoing' of the conversation. Another point, this phone may 'hang' on occasion; just today, it stalled for a good 5 seconds. However, this occurs infrequently. I bought this phone for about $300 at the beginning of 2005. Given all the other new phones out there, I would not try this phone. Moreover, I find that in North America, the level of service and technology that makes these phones great, are not available.

to shookting,to record video for longer time you go to video mode,press menu then go to video file size,set as normal size.It can record in about 30 to 45 seconds.

To wen, U mean 3G phone?This model is NO. U have to understand that most of the phone (model & brand)is differ in spec in every country..though physically we see the same..some will put(i)at the end of the model series no. to distinguish the particular of phone spec..

Original cable MUST come with software CD.. Infra only limited to a few KB only..MP3 file comprise more than 1MB..unless U know how to compress it..or convert to .amr file. This is the disadvantage of the infra tech..last generation phone use infra to transfer addrees book and what less than 1MB

To : Zurina Even converted to .amr file, it also very limited to a maximum of 300kb or less. Yesterday i have try to download a 295kb .amr file from the pc using the cable, but it also cannot work out coz u know the software for NEC suite is only compatible with those midi or mp3 file only. Where as using the infrared, it can be done, but its very limited to the capacity of the .amr file. For e.g. 40kb or 50kb can use infrared to send to the e238 phone.. While above certain limit, it cannot be done... sigh

I've just bought the e238 last saturday 12/9/05. I thought at first it can use mp3 as a ringtone.. then i go and purchase the cable and cost me RM110. but when i go back to download the songs, it can play but cant work as a ringtone.. even the download process also time consuming. Beside, i have try to download .3gp file for a mere 440kb (it consider very small) or any media file for above 300kb, it also cannot be downloaded into the phone. What a waste that i have bought the cable that cost me RM110 when all the minor things oso cannot be downloaded. The phone look nice, but it seems that cannot work with so many things.

i guess they just compressed the mp3 into .amr format and saved into SOUND. i oso donno how they did actually.. u might want to visit them at sg wang. i oso found another place at kl central offering the service(kat khemah2 kat parking bawah tu) good luck! :) but.. i do like midi better as my ringtones as they sounds better compared to .amr and are easily available on the net.. free lorr!

I just bought this phone without researching because i was at Sungei Wang today and i saw they were promoting this phone for RM$599. When i realize that this phone has mp3 player, camera and video recorder i immediately bought it without thinking. I mean come on, for a phone with camera and mp3 for RM$599, where else can you find it? And it's NOT second hand. Promotion ends on Sunday so better grab one quick. Sad thing is that it didn't come with any cables or software so i'll have to go and buy it seperately. But yeah, if you're looking for a flip phone with camera and mp3, i suggest you go for it.

it only has 26mb internal memory and no card slot as u can read in the specification,so it just only can put 5-6 mp3 inside.by the way,what is 3gp?it also has a an infrared port to received and send but as normal,infrared can received or send a big size of file.besides,it also has a usb data cable to download file from ur computer.

there was one person said that we need to set up da mms by ourself.... For mms :1st step--->select menu--->message--->select menu--->mms settings--->MMS profiles--->connection profile u click the hp center select button then find --->Maxis MMS then click select then can.

the feature is good,clear screen camera good video recording so so only.bout da irDa,so far i can receive ringtones from others phone but there is a limit,in certain kilobytes it can't receive.i activate da maxis gprs and mms it works fine to me,but da gprs setting u need to set up by urself.b4 u buy da cable of it,u better ask the shop dealer to test it for u,coz a lot of problem with its data cable.

Erm, guys, let me ask, any idea what file format do the true tones use? The preview on the site uses low bitrate mp3, but it seems, i cant find any FAQs on the file format used by the phone. does not seem to be midi, since truetones or realtones are usually mp3s or wavs. Anyone can help with this? utmost gratitude to u guys!! (and yes, i want to make my own tones, the download site has little to offer)

well,finally i solve my cable prob and found it smooth to transfer file now...I brought it back to the shop that day..I wanted try the new cable on the spot but the man told me that he had no laptop with him now...So i had to bring it home and try out myself..If it still cant work,then call the NEC or bring ur laptop along with ur hp to the shop,so that they can know whether is ur pc prob or cable...He told me so far no1 face this cable prob wo..Finally,im glad that everything is solve now ^^

ok let i reply some of your question To:miyake & jt the cable problem if u all take back to the shop then they use ur cable n can transfer to ur hp then means ur pc usb port problem ,if u all test at home already cannot then take go the shop they do also cannot means something wrong on ur hp or the cable .....last time i try b4 cannot connect so i angry plug in the cable very hard so make the socket spoil so cannot connect so after that i take to do the socket then come back everytime i can easy connect,so far so good ^.^

i tested this phone in a road show in msia today, sg wang, this phone is selling for RM899 with the cables and driver CDs. And yes, u can set mp3s as ring tones. Just go to ur media folder, menu, set as ring tone. The better part, u can set video files as ring tones as well. =)

LOL...of coz there is back light...in under power-saving mode...like what they said...shortcut key is m15...if you think you want nice colour on your phone...just put power-saving to lvl 1...everything will be bright and consume more battery as well...if you just want normal usage from your phone i.e only call or sms,you can put it to lvl 3...i think it can last for 4-5 days......:P

i dont think you need to switch to chinese mode to type chinese...you can type chinese under english mode...just go to menu and change the t9 language to chinese... the vibration is kinda good...but too bad even in silent mode the camera shutter sound will still on...therefore cannot take pic in library...sad...

as far as i knw, u may dwnload through necmobile website with ur phone, ringtones,wallpapers etc free but u pay charges on the phone wap service. as for chinese, u hv to set ur phone to chinese mode, in order for u to use the t9 chinese text. otherwise, english only. well, i like the easy-n friendliness of the phone.so, if u prefer lots of stuffs, then u may want to consider.

it will show an envelope icon...and dont worry...when you have missed call or sms,the LED will be flashing...when the external lcd screen is on standby mode,just click the side keys and you can see the screen. i dont have my usb cable yet...sob sob...how much is it now??? btw...the phone is now RM1099...saw it from newspaper...

erm...i'm not sure abt the price but i bought it for rm1230...however...this is indeed a good phone.the colour is brilliant...camera is excellent...video is fine but still a bit lagging...cool design...26mb which is big enough for normal users...sound is loud enough...this phone is a steal for such price...however,the disadvantages are no external memory,no mp3 ringtone,T9 english is not smooth enough(typing too fast will cause lagging),lag of ringtones and wallpapers,recording isnt that good(kinda noisy)... well...that is my personal oponion...you might want to check with the others...

uh, frankly, is the ringtones of the NEC e238 really good? but at least it still stands out in this fashion... Cos i dont feel good if the camera is good and the style is cool but the tone is horrible...people might think that is a lousy phone..if a normal person standing on the street..heard some one's HP ringtone that is cool..people might think that the phone is cool..beause the tones..so tones are very important in this society though..

in comparison to any other flip phone, NEC e238 stand out a lot, compare the price n quality .. not much phone can fight wit this hp. 65k tft colour screen which is much better than lots of other brand in same price, some ppl even think is a 200k colour screen. 26mb of memory is big enuf to play around for a normal user, if u purchase the extra data cable, u can even transfer file back to computer. n camera is very good even in dark enviroment, vid is ok but when move around will b a bit blur (but bear in mind wat price u r paying) !! anyone can tell me which phone is better,nec e238 o inno A10 o LG T5100.coz recently i like2 change phone.i like the design of nec e238 but the memory too small.dun know inno A10 function really good as it state down.i more prefer SE phone but i1buy clamshells v no external antenna

can only d/l mp3 thru cable lo the cable already available i already order it soon can get n it is original cable from nec so about rm100+ .infra red cannot use to d/l mp3 coz got transfer limit the mp3 file too big. mm.....anyone know where can get the java game for this hp?or which type of file of the game i can d/l?so i can d/l it myself^^

Can find downloads already? how did u get the mp3s into ur fon? i tot the data cable isnt out yet and u cant transfer mp3s via infrared...fyi i cant even find any downloads for now..mind sharing?

if u all prefer more memory n mp3 u can choose K700i but if u think u wan have a better quality of picture i think nec more better .anyway this is my personal opinion only .thank you.

after using e238 for 1 week, i already upgrade to SE K700i.the phone has only 26mb so me only can store about 6 mp3 n the sound also not so good.......i think SE is still the best

yeah i think so the poly64 will abit not up to quality if compare to my ex hp SE t610 the sound SE will be better but anyway me not really care beocz hp use for listen n make call not for listen to the ringtone :) but overall i think this phone still not bad lo the camera quality q good n i send to my fren they also say clear ^^

U know why the true tone not so good, for me i think because e238 without stereo sound/speaker...even e238 having 64 polyphonic but the quality of the sound sucks compared with others 64 poly....what u think 'girl'?

i try dl mp3 thru infra red but i think the the file size got limit so i cannot successful d/l and i call to the phone shop it say the usb cable is coming i think only can use ubs cable to d/l it :)

nicholas, this phone not bad but also not that good. If u are using nokia or SE & now u wanna to try NEC, emmm...u will regret abit loh...now tis price in market about rm1299..if not wrong! BUT the price are not worth it for tis NEC, u better try other loh...tis only my personal opinions....don too care about it.

features not bad the function control abit like SE.so far me not yet d/l mp3 for try the sound but i read opinion in taiwan website they say q nice for the quality of mp3 but the memory is just 26mb only.inside this hp got 2 games but u can d/l more coz it can save 20 games so means now u can d/l more 18games ^^ the camera quality q good n have flash if u think no enuff bright n u also can adjust the bright u wan.one more extra is this phone can use video like person A call u the A video will appear just like when ppl call u got their picture but this can also put video.sorry hehehe my english not very good hope u all understand wat i say :)

I have bought this phone recently and everything was fine except on MP3 downloads. Could anyone please help by telling me how to do it ?? I tried using infrared but it seems like not working. File too big... it seems... I would be very grateful for your help.

me just buy this hp yesterday so far so good but me facing a problem is when me d/l true tone the sound will like running sound means become noisy (sorry my english not good)but other thing like camera ,video also ok the video when u record and it got with sound .about ringtone time ringtone still not bad but if compare with SE abit weak ,b4 i using SE T610 so i use infra red transfer the ringtone i d/l in SE to NEC the ringtone inside SE will better ^^anyway this just my opinion

actually this phone design is very nice.i like it when i see it for the first time.i am satisfied with what NEC come out.while for the feature it doesn't fulfill my wish,bluetooth and the memory is very small.overall i give it a 7 out of 10 star.this is my opinion about the phone.
