I have used this phone for the last 4 1/2 years. So far I had replaced the back camera(Violet bug removed), Charging port PCB, SIM/SD Card slot/Top Microphone/Front Cam PCB and the battery. I already have ordered the touch screen/digitizer/display combo. I use it with 64GB SD Card. The phone was used with silicone case and plastic screen protector for 3 years. After that without screen protector and the display is still without a scratch. It was dropped at least 15 times on various occasions. Sound is still great as well as the display. It started to lag with some version of FB, so I switched to Lite and it is fine now. However, not updating to Android 5 left me with a nasty features of the KitKat apps reserved space and inability to move files around the Internal and external memory. If that was done, I'd probably be a lot more happy. Amazing reliability of this device in my hands. I am looking for a new device now and giving the missing 3.5 mm Jack port, it will not be a HTC. Loosing the ability to charge and listen the music concurrently is no option for me.

I still have this phone. No lags at all, even I had installed apps for gaming and social media. I had lots of pictures, music and files too and still no lag. Battery works fine, not easy to drain battery. This is what i love about this phone. However the back camera is not working properly already, it has pink filter whenever i took pictures at night or with a florescent light. But works fine whenever i took picture outdoors.

Same here, bought it in Dec of 2013, for a 3 year old gadget still works fine (with lag) and for the purple camera in medium to low light, and just like you there is no way to get it repair in my country, the time to look for a new phone is coming

I have this phone since it's launch and I tell you all this is a great phone. I got problems, and in Brazil couldn't get the phone repaired. It's camera still have problems (purple tint) except in sunlight. I got touch problems too in 2016. Miraculously I solved this with a factory reset and turning the phone off for about 6 months. When I turned it on and tested it came back to normal. Maybe the problem was caused by a drastic overuse, I used it a lot and still use, but always take a good caring.

After few month of peace, I got some annoying issue. My screen always rotating 180 degres, even in the drawer menu. Definetely I turn off the screen rotate button. I did factory reset, but that problem still persist, now even worse, my screen wake up by it self when I turn off... no idea what happened to me. So sad. In my country, HTC service centre are very very rare, almost bankrupt.

I hate HTC so much after using this model.I am a HTC fans before, but after purchasing HTC butterfly S, the camera have problem 2 times in 2 years. What? this phone's specification was introducing high spec camera, but camera always having issue? First time, the camera have purple tint issue after 6 months i purchased, i send to htc center and get the warranty to exchange the camera, second time, after 9 months i get the phone from htc center , now my camera having focus issue. the camera keep having lens zoom in and out sound and camera keep vibrating seem like cannot get the focus point. Now my camera cannot use at all. I realy HATE HTC SO MUCH!!!

Friend, just like you am going to buy this from ebay..believe me its a genuine phone i did a research but the problem is that there is no update released for this model since its launch and there are no info on the net about rooting this device..but after all you cant get a better phone with all this feature (nfc..boomsound..1.9ghz cpu..2gb ram..ultra pixel with zoe..etc) for that price...also make sure you contact the seller and ask him if its factory sealed product only buy then....the pink tint issue is common with ultra pixel camera..even the htc one has it...never buy if the factory seal is broken..i contacted the seller and he assured me its a sealed phone..make sure you do the same....

Ok... I am about to purchase it on eBay and I want to know if there's anyone who can help me. I'm worried about this phone being a scam, seeing it's priced only at around 16,000. Now I know it's imported, but I'm worried it might be a fake or the hardware fiddled with. And then there is the camera's "pink tint" issue. This phone is quite good. The battery life in this is awesome. After medium to heavy use, 7:00 - 00:00 I usually still have around 15%. Sometimes after very heavy use ie. GPS, 2 emails, Facebook, instagram, YouTube, internet surfing, reading ebooks I might run out at around 10pm but that's not very often. If you are a very heavy user it will definitely last you all day and if you use the battery power saving option you'll even get more time. Stand by time on this thing is amazing. If you can pick this phone up for around $400 or less, outright, then it's a good deal. One thing I really hate about this phone is the camera. Unless you are in a well lit area outside the camera sucks. There's often a purple tinge and severe vignetting and colour aberration. If you take lots of pictures then you'll be severely disappointed with this camera. The screen, battery, overall experience on this phone is very good but the only area where this phone is severely lacking is in the camera department. Even though this phone has a plastic build it feels like quality plastic. It's a solid phone. If this is your first smartphone then you will be quite happy with it.

My friend I live in Sri Lanka I have recently updated my Butterfly S into Kitkat 4.4.2 and Sense 6, I have to tell you battery last more than a day for me I am a heavy Internet user still I manage to go more than a day I think you should update to 4.4.2 and see the difference and I have used Galaxy S5, Iphone 5, Htc One but this battery last long really impressive.

Bro, I can't comment about call quality coz its very much depends on your local network provider. But 1) Battery life - Butterfly S has the longest lasting battery among all HTC devices (top in the ranking, equal to HTC One Max). If Butterfly S's battery cannot satisfy you, no other HTC devices can... 2) Performance - HTC had done a great job in optimizing Sense UI. Plus quad core Snapdragon 600 & 2gb ram, I can say Butterfly S can perform most of the tasks smoothly without any issue at all... The only issue with Butterfly S - Camera purple tint (photos came out purple/pink colour when taking in dark/low light but no problem in bright/day time/using flash). This is a hardware issue & can only be solved by HTC service centre...

I don't think u can roll back to Jelly Bean... Can u? Anyway, if u really can, i think it won't make any difference because the purple tint is a hardware issue. Just changing software won't solve the problem. The only solution is to send your device to the nearest HTC service centre...

As i mentioned, the only solution is to send back to the nearest HTC service centre.. If your phone is still under warranty, HTC will repair without any charge.. Otherwise, you need to bear the cost.

Regarding the purple tint issue 1) as far as i know, only One M7 & Butterfly S are facing this problem. No problem with One Max & One M8. 2) its a hardware issue & the only solution is to send back to HTC service centre. Android update won't solve the problem. 3) it only show up when taking photo in low light/dark/night. No problem during day time/bright or using flash. 4) HTC won't charge anything IF the phone is still under warranty. Otherwise, its chargeable.

It's normal,but for me i dont have any problem using this phone for low light photo snapping because the flash is bright enough to make the tint disappear..you just need a lil bit of light..

IMO: Disadvantages: 1. I can't find complete protective screen for this phone because of curvature screen design. 2. The Power button location is to far to reach. 3. The Ultra Pixel camera suffers purple tint problem (but I got fixed by Service Center within 3days for free, and it's now very good). overall, without these flaws, the phone is AMAZING

It's actually 4 Megapixels but utilizing HTC's proprietary Ultrapixel technology. I have a HTC Butterfly S and personally I quite like the camera as the pictures are mainly shared in FB and whatsapp. Unless you intend to make big print, this camera is good enough as long as you don't expect to have similar quality as a good digital camera, no phone camera can be compared to a good digital camera anyway.

I am not so sure if the specs given is correct, but based from what I knew, HTC Butterfly S had a 4UP (Ultra Pixels) Main Camera. Not just 4MP (Mega Pixels).

I just have one issue it takes a lot of time to charge from nil to full. around 3 hours. I am using the original charger which came along. I have a note 3 but I just find the speaker is not as great as the butterfly s , well this is not the fastest phone but I have to say it is the most stable and provide me the most basic use for my light traveling� the battery can last me for 1 day and until mid night � for a normal use...

Got this Butterfly S for some months now and from my experience with other current phones in my collection, I would say this is probably the best all rounder daily driver I have used. The word I would describe this one is "Balanced". The other phones I have right now are Samsung Note 3, Asus Note 6, Huawei Ascend Mate, Samsung Ativ S, and some recently sold phones were Sony Z1, Asus Padfone 2 and Motorola Droid Razr Maxx. I have done personal comparisons between these phones and I still prefer this Butterfly S over the current top tier phones like Samsung Note 3 and Sony Z1. Yes, Note 3 is supposedly at the top right now (due to the vast advertisement budget Samsung always has on their flagships) but I found out 4 things that I disliked about it, maybe these reasons are personal and maybe some of you might disagree but hey it's just weren't my taste. Coming back to the Butterfly S, what I like about it are: - Battery life (really good) - UI (Sense 5.5) - Ram Management (a topic rarely discussed in phone reviewing websites) - Can't see and feel the difference in performance between Sanpdragon 600/800 and Adreno 320/330 even though there are supposed to have differences. - Display - Feels solid in hand, - Beats Audio and front Boomsound speakers. And my favourite for mid category phone is surprisingly Asus Note 6. This is probably the best value-for-money phone which comes with a pen, similar to Samsung's S Pen which you can use to write, draw, cut, crop and paste as you wish but at about half the price of Note 3. Intel's Clover trail processor is not bad either and it's smooth, display is top notch Full HD, battery reasonably good and great SonicGear speaker sound quality too.

For iPhone: - battery lasts max 12 hours - poor speakers sound vs Beats audio - poor display -no group sms/email possibility - no duplicate contacts - poor dialer, no T9 dialer, no contacts integration - iPhones are for non-power users - iPhones are prefered by women and anti-technical guys. - HTC is much faster, flexible, one step ahead of what you want to do. - even is almost twice double as price, iPhone is far to touch HTc capabilities.

The butterfly I purchased second hand in good condition had the camera issue. When the camera was turned on, the phone was placed flat down on a table (essentially covering up the camera). The screen would then become purple. I called HTC HK (I live in Hong Kong), and they ordered a courier to pick up the phone, stated they would physically replace the camera, for me to backup my contents as the phone would be wiped, and for the phone to be couriered back to me - all free of charge. Note this phone was bought second hand and I did not have a warranty. Please check with your local HTC presence in your city - don't be lazy. Pick up the phone and make a call :) Thanks.

Great phone, Camera is fantastic. Best Camera for low light Photography. It has the greatest battery life in recent smartphone market. Sound? 2 stereo speakers from Dr.Dre! Which other phone is above it? I am a power user and I couldn't finish the battery in a day. In normal conditions it can last for 2 days. Htc butterfly s has a larger screen than htc one, has a (40%) larger battery, and has a microsd slot for up to 64gb additional memory. This is something that appears to be common amongst some smart phones vs the router it's used with. My experience have lead to the realization that you must use WPA only not mixed mode etc. You must delete the WiFi network from your phone and add it over. Same problem with some BlackBerry,nokias etc. Some routers hate your phone and some love it. Always use wireless G mode only too. Basically if you a bit technical you can set all your WiFi devices to either G or N only (not mixed) All devices must be using same mode if one if different it can cause your issue. Also your HTC has latest wireless ac mode which your router probably hates so follow the above and hope it works out.

I don't know this companies try to do but, why didn't they just puted the camera of the butterfly of 8mp? It seems the they exchange the micro sd port for a poor quality camera why? Who in f**** knows why. Another phone that will die fast because of that. and let me add to that the battery life :) the Butterfly S has a 3200mah battery, the Galaxy S4 has a 2600mah battery, the One is even worse with only 2300mah! in my opinion, the Butterfly S is everything the One shouldve been, minus the metal construction. Having said that, i still think the Butterfly S still looks amazing and i have mine protected by a Metal-Slim Leather Case (with flip stand), so i dont need to worry about damaging my phone :)

You should get the Butterfly S. To be honest, even if the phone looks worse, after having it a while, you'll definitely be more satisfied with the Butterfly S. They both have similar features with the high tech camera and front facing beats audio stereo speakers, and they both have the same GPU (Qualcomm Adreno 320, excellent GPU, probably the best smartphone GPU you can get). But, the main source of performance is the CPU. The CPU is basically the phone's brain. The CPU of the Butterfly is clocked higher than that of the One. Also the Butterfly S has a bigger screen! If you're worried about the colour of the phone, a very good colour scheme would be to get a full front black phone and put on a a case with a white border, I have my phone like this and it looks really good!

I agree with that. Most people are saying the Ultrapixel is bad. But according to my experience it not bad and not so good either. It's daylight performance are quite behind the S4 but not that much far. However low light, indoor & video recording are way better than S4. The problem here is it's lower mp. That's is the main reason why details of the photos are quite low. However anyone no need to fear its camera performance, it's more than enough for day to day photography. I hope next year flagship phone they will insert at least 7mp camera.

Actually, according to HTC, the 4 ultrapixel camera is equal to 12.9 megapixels. True or not, who knows. When I had the One it produced good, not great, but good pictures. Of course, it was at its best in low light. Outdoors or in good lighting, it doesn't compare very well to my S4. Overall though, I was fairly impressed with its camera. This ulteapixel camera concept that HTC is using will only improve in time, just like anything else it takes a few iterations to get something new to perform at its best. This is HTCs first try with there new design scheme and new version of Sense. They aren't there yet but they'll get there.

I really love HTC just as much as I love Sony and LG. For me, these three OEMs are the ones who really know how to design their smartphones the best and I believe in them more than I believe in Samsung whom I used to like the most not until Galaxy S4 came. Samsung started to mess up with their supporters by making a lot of Galaxy S4 models only changing the internal specs. At least with this Butterfly S, though it resembles the predecessor physically there are more relevant changes underneath the device like the battery and the different camera technology. I got no issues with the photos produced by the HTC One though it isn't the best in my opinion too. I don't print pictures and I upload them immediately on my social networking accounts so I am really not that technical with the quality, besides the phone really does above average in low lighting conditions in my point of view but using Snapdragon 600 for this one is a bit of a mistake HTC. You should have used 800 instead since a lot of the upcoming phones from Sony, Samsung and LG are going to be powered by the latest Qualcomm monster. It is better to wait for a little while to produce a product that an OEM can produce as their next flagship devioe because there is a bigger chance for it to become a success rather than immediately announce something that will soon turn out to be outdated and gonna be outdone easily! If only this is gonna be powered by a Snapdragon 800 then I would save for this device but since it can easily be outdone by some OEMs out there due to its old processor then maybe I will pass on this and just go for LG G2 instead.

The butterfly s' screen is not better than the one its only bigger. Currently, there is no screen better than whats on the one. Htc one has the best screen for me as of the moment. Butterfly and butterfly s has pretty much the same screen quality. The battery on the butterfly s and the micro sd are the most important thing. But the looks of thr one makes me want to choose it. Yes. The HTC ONE and Butterlfy S have a 4MP camera. They're calling this an Ultra Pixel camera because the pixels are huge. This means you'll have better exposure when you have low light conditions. Under regular use, during the day or indoors, the pictures will be crappier than the other phones with 8-13MP cameras, but it will be just fine to post them on Facebook, Instagram and all that, which is what most people do. People don't print pictures anymore. I used the camera on the HTC ONE. I wasn't impressed. You can see the blurry stuff when you zoom in, but it's fine for social media.

Because it won't fit in any of the smartphones you've ever seen. The sensor size is almost the same for lets say One and One X, how many pixels can fit in the same size of sensors is determined by the sensor size for each pixel, which leads to how much can each pixel can absorbe.. so on so on..

Ultra pixel simply means that the pixels on the camera sensor are bigger (to catch more light) than on other modern phone cameras. And the "ultra" pixel has the similar size as a pixel on old, thick phones like Nokia N95 but back then they were simply called "pixels". Today phones must be thin, and camera modules must be small. So instead of 13-megapixel camera with small pixels HTC made a 4-megapixel camera with big pixels because there's no space for a 13-megapixel camera with big pixels in a thin phone. So the camera makes 4 megapixel photos.

Taiwan doesn't have LTE, the government put their hard work into the WiMAX network and LTE networks will only be installed in the next few years. To be honest LTE is overrated and drains a lot of battery.

There are apparently 3 galaxy S4 phones on the market so its just not htc that is giving people a choice which im sure is a good thing. S4, S4 active and S4 zoom. Bigger battery, better processer and a expandable memory slot are the improvements and if companys gave you the perfect phone there would be no point in you guys upgrading, Its a sucsessful marketing tactic that has worked for years!

The HTC butterfly was reborn! And the result is almost PERFECTION! Though it didn't adopted the metal body of the ONE, the unibody polycarbonate design is already sturdy and elegant. Don't care if it's relatively thick. Slimness is not a big factor when considering buying a phone. lack of LTE is not a big issue since there's a lot of regions which do not support it yet so just wait for your carrier version of the phone if you are let say from the US. All I can say is that the specs are impeccable! Nice one HTC! :-D

Well everybody is different. I just said what i felt. I would take the One over this due to compactness. But those who like bigger phones are going to love this one due to powerful battery. The battery backup should be only 5-6 hours less than the s4 i assume which is still great but its larger and heavier.

Can't people people moaning about a big battery after bitching about the battery in the HTC ONE, since when does a few grams of extra weight make a difference? People need to make their minds up and stop complaining about everything every 5 mins. Just to complain a little myself i would have loved the ONE to be a little thicker with a 3000mah battery. Oh No. HTC's making big mistake again. They release One X last year and few months later the HTC One X+ and with no big update. Do you know how i pissed back then? And few months later they release a Butterfly. And few months later again they release One. I thought this is the last flagship in 2013 at least H1 2013. And wuth a 3200 mAh Li-Po battery it will have great battery timing better than the mega 6.3 for sure as htc optimizes their phone battery you can see it in the One. 4 ultrapixel is 4 Megapixel, but HTC name its latest sensor "ultrapixel". 4 ultrapixel of HTC One fails to compete the 8 mp of hight end phones, but its brighter lens and OIS help it to do good job in term of low light. The problem is the current smartphones use 13mp which is far ahead of 4 ultrapixel in good light. Even in low light, Samsung GS4 does better using night mode.

Follow my train of thought to see if something dont make sense with these specs 1) if the phone has a LI-Po battery, id assume its a non-removable back 2) If the phone has a non-remove back yet it supports SD Cards then it must have a sd cardslot to the side 3) Looking at pics of the phone, i dont see any SD Card slots on any of the sides of the phone So guys - get it straight.. something's a miss.. how can it have LI-Po and an external card slot if there is no cardslot seen on the sides of the phone?

Its specs are waybetter than the One. I have not experienced ultra pixel yet but i hope its good. I have an s4 with me and based on camera experience all i can say is that pixels matter in zooming. Other than that a good lighting condition still makes the output better. Viewing s4 taken pictures on my computer is comparable to my 4year old point and shoot camera. Almost same output. I would prefer butterfly S than the One.

You are not always right. MegaPixels don't always determinar the quality of the image, but its size (rezolution) and how big the zoom is. For uploading to facebook, instegram and twitter its enough, but if you, for example, want to capture the board in your school or collage and open it in the computer later you do need the megapixels.
