hi i have this phone and had that same problem, all u need to do is change then nae so that there are no spaces and/or weird symbols - just stick to a-z. also make sure your bluetooth is turned on and so is your visibilty. hope this helps

This phone is great, never had a problem with it, I used a clean SD 1gb card and it always worked smooth. It can also read office files (.doc, .xls, and also PDF files) without any plugin.

The biggest card that i can get to work in this phone is a TRANSCEND 1GB. No other (bigger than 512MB) card will work other than this make.

everyone having problems with SD cards- Make sure it's a "fresh" card, as in, the phone is the first device you insert it in. then it should be ok to use. Well, it was for my 256 MB card.

hi, this phone doesn't take a memory card more than the 64mb card that came with it. I have this phone and had the same problem and enquired about it at the local phone shop. They contacted Samsung and Vodafone.Samsung said the phone is capable of taking a card up to 2GB and said Vodafone have restricted it. Vodafone therefore shifted the blame away from themselves onTO samsung. Yet, a few months later i bought a Samsung D900i on o2 and a 2GB memory card and it works fine in it and a few days ago i bought a SE V640i on Voda and its capable of taking a 4GB. Think the ZV40 is def restricted don't know who is down to but my SE V640i on the same network ain't and my other samsung on a different network aint.

my phone wont let me open my memory card files-it keeps telling me:"memory card has an unrecognised format.reformatting will erase all data.' but all my files in there are normal there is nothing different from the files saved on the phone.what's wrong? HELP!!!

I have found that the Transcend microSd card works quite well with this phone, but it just wont format the Sandisk brand microsd 1 & 2 GB cards

a 1Gb memory card works on this phone however a 2Gb is not recognised!...has a problem with installing the games but if one downloads them onto the mobile using WAP from a server like euploader, they install automatically. Be sure that the game's resolution is supported by the mobile! 2 Thumbs up for this mobile!:))

this is the best phone i ever had, 1 Gb card,3G,mp3player, i even put a 3gp converted movie on it, and it works purrfect, the signal is good, the batery is good and the design is nice, a very handy phone, a problem could be finding good games for it, or themes, but that's only a little detail :)...buy it, it's worth the money

After about 3 months I have finally managed to change the SMS tones of the phone. 1. Goto Settings / Phone Settings / Phone profile 2. Options Edit 3. Press Right to get into SMS option then down to Message alert tone. 4. use option 1 to change it to tones already on the phone (x4) 5. Use option 2 to change to your own tone NB it will only use .mmf or .mid files.

can anyone help me, i love my zv40 but everytime i go to send a text message it just comes up 3 random contacts when i would prefer it to come up the last 3 contacts that i text. does anyone know if this is possible, it is on most phones.

you can put your own sound for sms......you just need to download one program....from google....tupe ''mp3 to mmf converter''...and download it... if you want some new games download them too and you can flip camera with butoons for volume ...wich you can find on left side of your phone.... i have this mobile for almost....well 4 mounths....and it's grate.....for memory cards you can only for sure use microSD trans flash....this phone doesn't read other...like kingston.....it can only read better memory cards....samsug recomends microSD trans flash.... that's all from me.... if someone needs anything else....you can conatct me on my email... bye

This phone is great. It has everything you neeed and of good quality. Camera is good 1.3mp but photos on pc are of good quality..it has video too. Display is excellent and very good features. The only thing i was pissed off is that it has no games but trial. Bu Overall this phone is very worth it when compared to other phones and is ideal for everyone. Excellent product from samsung. pity someone stole it form me after only 1 month :(

I am trying to connect phone thru Bluetooth to PC studio but at the end of the process (after pairing the mobile) it tells me 'Phone did not respond'. I can transfer information using the IVT bluetooth without any problem but can't connect to PC studio. Anyone can help?

The thing with Samsungs sam is that you can only have the tones that came with the phone as message tones. its the same with all including d900 which i have etc

I note I am not the only person who is frustrated at not being able to change the message tone onm the ZV40 - I want to put on a self-recorded msg or one of my funky tunes but have been thwarted at every turn! Has anyone got round this? The display light going off is a annoying. I may have to switch back to my old Motorola - it's older but it does what I want.

the samsung ZV40 is a good phone 2. only thing i prefer the E730 because u could start the mp3 from the outside of the phone. but otherwise its a good phone. and 2 all the samsung makers i will like 2 give a big shout out for making these lovely phones and keep it up by making better ones in the feature........ yeah!!!!

I have had this phone for about 2 months i have no problems with it have even managed to set my own msg tone but how do you set delevery reports for mms and also how do you set a recorded tone to a msg tone do i have to convert it from amr format?

i have a z140v and i want to buy this one, because i like it,because it's compatible with word,excel & p.point. for everyone who does't know how to find the other characters for writing a messagge, like underscore symobol, just keep pressing the # button and u'll see. it.s a good phone. I don't like that the camera it's upside down when you want to take a shot...you have to put it horizontaly or switch it...

To get rid of the text displaying the area code you are in go to settings.Nextgo to message settings thenbroadcast then selectreceiving options.Press disable and that gets rid of it. Also, you cant change the message tone I dont think.

I have just got this phone (previously owned the earlier purpley model) and do like it; however, I find it frustrating that the front display is not on permanently. I appreciate that this is in order to preserve the battery life, however, I feel the owner should have the choice!

hi ive had this phone for a week now the problem i face is with the camera, when i turn the camera lense inside, to click a selfpotriat, the image formed on the screen is inverted. but if i hold it horozontal it is stright but i wonder y cant i get a stright shot? is it a std feacture of the phone? or is there a way to rectify the problem?ealier i used to use zv10 it was a class phone.accept for its battry life.

I have the gray coloured version of this phone and it excellent, meets all my requirement. I have had it for 2 months now had no problems yet. Watching mobile TV on this is very clear. Thing I like most about this phone is the shape and the design.

YES! it seems to be problems whit the memory card it can't read cards over 256mb and Vodafone, Telenor, trys to hide it and not tell or blaim Samsung, but ther is som problems whit the software, they are trying to fix it but god knows when they be ready...

i purchased this great little phone , i previusly had the z500 and liked it , the battery life on this is about 2 days , i have had problems whith the handset turning itself off and back on again, i will get a replacement soon

Battery life on Samsung ZV40 is very poor. On average lasts about 10-12 hours after an over night full charge - just not good enough, so have to charge up the phone twice a day. And this is not using any 3G features on the phone either. Any suggestions for improvement? How long does other peoples batteries last on this phone?

yup you can have it on ure messages, files(like mp3 and pictures and vidoes and stuff) contacts, call history and calendar, you dont have to have them all locked you can pic which one you want anymore questions?

nah, the signal depends on your network coverage asnyway, vodaphones really good and ive not had one problem with this phone yet, honestly buy oneif u do have problems take it back it should come with a gurantee

hey this phone comes in pink and a dark grey, the volume is quite loud, and yes you can change the sms tone, go into settings, phones profiles, pick ure profile and choose edit, you will come to the screen saying incoming call at the top, press the right directional buttin and it will take you to the message settings, any more questions and i will try and help rose x

It looks very beautiful and it very nice but when you send MP3 songs thru Bluetooth it is very low. it cannot even work in Jamaica with the polplar network. Otherwise it is ok.
