sharp usually set the code at 8888 or 9999 try one of them ..if they dont work, then it might have been changed by you or someone else cheerrs

ive been using 703sh for about 3 years now its still good, but the paint is wearing off and the clock at the cover isn't working anymore. but the camera is working perfectly(overexposure will result to orange/pink tints) :) its great

I had the intilising problem so i tried your method just now with holding down "#" and "On" then it went to a reboot screen then nothing works. I took out the battery and put it back in to power on again. Now it just flashes white screen with "Please wait" then black screen then again.

I brought my unlocked Sharp 703 to Globe and asked them to help me install the MMS and WAP settings. According to Globe people, MMS and WAP settings come from the phone manufacturer. In short, there's no way to get the MMS and WAP working on your Sharp 703.

my 703sh is good until now, but remember,if your 703 can't play mp3's, reprogram it by some technician or change some program, don't worry technician know how, to all asking me, my phone reprogram and it change some feature but it lost some feature too, but the good is I play mp3's also aac and midi tones, nice camera but not in the night, so shyrill don't expect the quality of nokia in 703

its a very good phone since im using it now for one and half years.. its user friendly .. easy to use and captures good pictures.. the design is very nice; but these are some few problems Ive encountered with my 703sh: -after 1 year; the external time display is not working anymore -the coat color fades -the back cover slips out I think thats it. other parts of it were very good esp. the camera and the mp3 player.. but you need to convert it to aac btw..

there should be a small led light just above the external screen that flashes whenever there is a missed event or a message.

hi i've perchased a sharp 703shf about one year ago this month, and lately i havent been able to connect to cingular(my normal service). I have already master reset my phone and tried everything by taking out the battery resetting it, and trying to connect all day. i've configured the settings to GSM, and have always found cingular until now. Dear MJ, this phone doesnt have an Mp3 player.703 can only play aac format sounds. Hence the only way you can play your mp3's on the phone is to convert them to aac and upload them. Cheers

hassan and bijay this model dosnt support mp3 files. it can only play aac files. So you have to download a converter and convert mp3 files to aac files. Hassan budy regarding the mms and wap the network people should know the settings. The mms setting are in short the sever from where the message goes through and the mms profile. If any one you know uses a phone which supports mms, borrow the phone and go to picture messages or mms and then settings or options and just copy the settings into your phone.

hi helen, i did a search on the net and i fixed my phone. You will need to flash format your phone, so if you have anything saved on your phone im afraid its going to be lost, unless you can find another way to do it. what you should do is: turn off phone, take out sim card + memory card (just in case) press #+power on button(ie reject button) to power on then a white screen will come on with all this stuff, just wait for it to format your phone then once finished it should work :)

mine came from japan and had it converted here in manila, philippines. everything is working just fine. however, it couldnt read my kingston 2GB minisd. it can read the panasonic 64mb though. i was able to put mp3's inside it. but i only put 128 kbps songs. and it is also pickiy in playing which mp3s to play so i just choose randomly. i have a few questions for eveyone: 1. The phone will definately play mp3's as ringtones. (not wma's I've seen load of customers who don't realise that a wma isn't an mp3). You need to put the mp3 file into phone memory, then you should be able to set it as a tone. This also works for video files (.3gp)

Hi Sanford. The phone will play MP3 files fine, and you can set them as ring tones too. however if you download copy protected tracks, (from vodafone Live) you will not be able to set these as ring tones. As for converting video the best program I have found is Canopus Procoder 2. You can set the size and quality to how you want it.

You can try to master reset it, nit too sure if it will remove the code, keep # pressed and power on the pohone,wait till the phone start to power up then only leave #. This will format the phone to original factory setting and you might also leave all DATA.Cheers

oh ya, forgot to mention that after converting the quality will be same as a mp3 quality due the config i had set, but it will limit at 2MB each 3GP, cheers = )

Here is the way to set 3GP as ringtone, download the 3gp converter here ,i had modify the config file already so just convert directly, no need to do extra setting, after convert the 3gp file must be in phone memory in order to set as ringtone

Hi Hayato, If the display says T-mobile on the phone, then you are not roaming on Cingular. Regarding the SMS issue that you have, you need to change the message center number on your phone. PLEASE HELP!! I'm a T-Mobile user in the U.S. I got this phone and inserted my T-Mobile SIM, and I am able to make and receive phone calls. However, I cannot get SMS to work!!! It keeps saying that the "Message Centre is not configured". The Message Center phone number is entered and is correct (it actually was pulled automatically from the SIM card), and all other settings seem kosher, but still no avail... I noticed that when I view the list of networks available to me, the only one that I get is the Cingular Wireless network. I'm not sure why that is... I'm able to make calls, so does this mean that I'm roaming constantly on Cingular's network and is not truly on T-Mobile's network with this phone? Is that why I can't use SMS?? I think the file need to be under 300kb if you want to use it as ringtone.

When I convert my mp3 into aac file using itunes, it does turn into mp4. I save it to my phone and not just in my memory card, and still, it won't let me set it as a ringtone...I can only listen to it and not be able to use it as a ringtone... =(

It is really a good fne. Answer to sheena: If you want the mp3 file to be used as as message tone u must save it to phone memory not in mini sd. If you are a smart user you must go to any smart wireless center to activate your 3G network or video calling and video streaming and they will activate to your internet access.

Hi! I just got my Sharp 703SHf last week. I've read previous posts about using acc. as ringtone (mp3 to aac from iTunes). I tired many times and it still doesn't work. I have a short clip (.aac format) that is copyrighted and works as ringtone. When I rename the song I want with the name of the copyright clip, it still does not work. You must put the mp3 file in the phone memory, not in the memory card... this way will allow you to set the file as ringtone in options menu :D

I have a cute pink 703 SHf, the japanese version. Of course i have the same problem of the re-provisioning message and not being able to use mp3 format as ringtone. I tried mik's suggestion, but was not successful, even with reduced bitrate and all. I can play aac format as media file, but i am not able to use it as a ringtone as well, eventhough i've used a legal copyrighted song. Is the japanese version doomed not to be able to play mp3 or aac ringtones? Please,anyone... help! I love the phone, it's cute..

for 703SHf, i believe there's only the japanese firmware for it and there's no support for t9 on japanese firmware. you also can't get rid of the re-provisioning 'problem' as it is not a bug nor a problem for the japanese firmware.

i think for japanese firmware doesn't support mp3, you'd have to convert your songs to acc format to be able to play them on your phone.

i used the audio converter to change the mp3 files to AAC files and mps (lame) files. Then, save both into the miniSD card on the ph. After slotting the card into the ph, it cannot even detact the files..? I had also tried sending it via bluetooth, transmittion fail too. my mom bought me a sharp 703 it color is light green one..when i used here in the philippines at first it was lock.so i went to my friend whos have a shop of repairing cellphone..so he unlock it.but some of original setting of sharp703 was deleted.but some is added.at fisrt i cant use mp3 as ringtone.so i used laptop compaq to trnsfer mp3 thru infrared.and i try it.so it was succesful trnfer the file..and automatically save to ringtones folder..and i assign it as ringtone..it was succesful..so i trnsfer almost 13mp files in my sharp 703 and i use it and assign as ringtone.it was great guy..and i use it also as mp3 audio.this cellphone was great...i dont know guyz why u encounter that u cant use mp3 as ringtone the same with AMR file.u can use it also as ringotone guyz.just explore ur sharp703 it was great cellphone for.for more info email me at [email protected] im frm philippines guyz.albert

yeah you cant assign amr as a ringtone...even if it is a voice recorded from your phone because you can only assign LEGAL mp3s, AAC(m4a?), and AAC+ files.

I have no problems assigning mp3 ringtones, I have a vodafone UK version bought when it was first released, so unless they have changed the copyright features in later software it should play ANY mp3 as a ringtone. The only thing you need to make sure is that the track has been saved to the phone memory. It will not let you assign any track or video that is on the memory card. I hope this helps. Mark

hi mik and everyone, Yes, I can find some shops in HK that sells the japanese version with japanese manuals, but they have all been re-installed with the Chinese/English operating systems, ie. it cannot type japanese etc. They say the networks are only compatible with the Chinese/English operating systems since it is designed to interface with HK networks and specific services. hey guys, my method is(and this works for everybody else too)... 1)find a legal music clip that has copyright (cuz the phone can tell). it doesnt have to be long. a few seconds is enough. lets say this file is called "A" 2)open your favourite song in itunes and convert it into AAC format. lets call this song "B" 3)send both to your phone using anyway you like (bluetooth, minisd...) but it has to be in phone memory, not minisd memory 4)assign "A" as ringtone. try it to make sure it works. 5)delete "A". rename your original "B" file into "A" 6)Ta-Da!

No, milk... the way that I did it didn't work. BUT, I did find a way to use mp3's as ringtones... what I did was instead of converting my files to AAC, I converted my shortened file to WAV, then to MMF(polyphonic ringtone file) and then it works. There IS loss of quality, but it's a ringtone. and I have the JAPANESE model, with the Disney OS and pre-given Disney backs, and you can't directly use mp3s.

You have must ripped the files with Nero 6 or Nero 6.3 for make MP4 files. The files stay more small and the quality is perfect. For install the files for ringtones you must copy the file into the memory of phone, how? Record the file in memomry card and after copy to the memory phone directely. If you use a music recorded in memory card, if you remove him for replace another card you lost the configuration. Is very simply. This phone is espactacular. Very good display, very fast, very simply to use, beautiful, small, very good network signal (mutch better any nokia, and i speek whit knowing), very good music player ( the earphones is serving). Beefore this phone i had the 903 and the unic diference is the 2,4 inch of display and the camera megapixels. The rest is the same. No diference. Enjoy him.

BB/Milk, or anyone in general: question about the ringtones. I just spent my morning making ringtones from my mp3's, some of them i made sure were LEGALLY ripped from store-bought CD's, and others were downloaded."illegally" I converted them all the AAC using iTunes, and then loaded them on my sd card, then onto my phone memory, and when i tried to assign ANY of the songs, it would say it's an illegal file, even for my legally ripped songs. Is it just me, or is this a stupidly designed system? I mean, they should at LEAST unblock ripped mp3's. yea, you can change your mp3 file to another file type like aac. but i find that the quality is not as good as mp3 (like it doesnt sounds as clear and crisp). this phone's battery is quite good, i am using it as an mp3 player,however, its a phone...dont expect it to be too great with listening to mp3s and watching movies.

1) jap version (the one i have) has backlight for the keypad but rather weak 2) with jap version, you can use mp3 ringtones bigger than 3mb. mine right now is 3.9 mb 3) an illegal mp3 is one where you use bt or just download from the internet. a legal one on the other hand is one where you download from a paid online source. the phone can tell the difference and will only let you put the legal one as ringtone

I've read that it doesn't have flash, but it support mp3 as ringtone, but they can't be of big size, this is not a problem because the time a phone is ringing is about 30-40 sec, and you can never listen the entire mp3. the solution is to use a mp3 cutter and only use the song part that you like more.(sorry for my english if i've mistakes)

i think you need to just use any old mp3 converter program to crank up the volume before you load it on to your sd card. how is the video quality?

numnut, the max limit of the miniSd is 256mb, only if u hav d chinese version which is the SX313, then the max extends to 1Gb

I've got european (spanish) version. It's a WONDER of phone. Video resolution 240x320 (full screen). The phone it's got an ARM9 CPU and a T4G Toshiba GPU, like the 903, so it DOES have the SAME features. It's perfectly possible to even watch movies on it. MP3 sound like a charm but be careful - just constant bit rate (not variable). I played up to 320kbit without problems, just copying the mp3 to the memory card (the phone will search for it, just search the music folder...). Yes, the MP3 can be set as a ringtone as long as the mp3 is copied over the phone's memory (not the SD card). 3D games are also gorgeous on this phone. And it reads japanese emails (but obviously can't type it). So far, I just LOVE it, perfect phone. Hope this replies all your questions.

Can somebody enlighten me pls?!?! wat is the meaning of locked and unlocked... I bought this phone from china. brought back home in singapore and realise i cant use my internet, gprs, and mms functions. brought it too my service provider to confirm the gprs settings still cannot work for me. so does that mean it is locked? If so how do i unlock it? where to unlock it? is it illegal? (btw singapore doesnt sell sharp phones, so let me know where else in the world can i unlock the phone) Thanx a million!!!

you can play asf movies , and the video quality is actually very good - you just have to change the format to 3gp or asf in settings.

Hi I just got this phone today so thought I would let any future buyers know what it is actually like. First of all I love the green I must admit I wanted the orange but it looks snaz all the same lol. The menu is clear as always with Sharp phone. The camera is a 1.3 megapixel and is very clear however the film quality is slightly disappointing. At the moment I cannot find any features that I am unhappy with. I havent tried everything just yet but it seems to be a very good phone. If you need any information on it I am willing to answer questions, just email me.

Hi, I am a Sharp 903SH user, For all those people out there who cant get their MP3's on the phone you will need to buy a USB card reader and load them onto a miniSD card and then insert it back into your phone. This is the same as 903sh. unless you have the chinese version SX313 it is fully unlocked and you can do anything with this model.

for the chinese market means that that is the model number for sharp 703 over there; the number changes is all. of course you cant only buy it over there

Only Japan has the orange, so it is a japanese phone, but it also has English. You can always ask the sales about the questions u know?

I was just wondering if this is tri-band or quand-band also are the words and stuff english or wat cuz on the phone box it had japanes words on it so im not sure . I've read in an article in a dutch paper that this fone will be equiped with a lcd display instaed of a tft. Does anybody know anything about this? The new sharp phones are not listed on the sharp site yet (which i think of as very unprofessional but anyway) where can i find more info on this??
