Sharp Z2 - User Reviews

  • Where can ger the update?cant update through OTA.

  • 1.it often overheat whenever I do minimal task like browsing through browser or watch movies but not when gaming??? (Not complaining but it often goes warm when I play games) 2.did Sharp think it through when they decided to put the SD card slot on SIM slot 1? I have to use SIM slot 2 and often it turns into 3G rather than 4G at my grandmother's house. Using SIM slot 1 usually gets me 4G 80% of the time or so.... 3.The battery life sucks after using it for about 1 year and a half. Seriously, 60% and then it dies. 4.fingerprint scanner is getting a bit senile. When my phone died, so does the memory of my fingerprint scanner. So I had to re-scan it. That sucks since my phone dies faster than the battery percentage.

  • Change Battery, Problem Solved..

  • Definitely no. Bad battery life. The phone will turn off abruptly at 40%

  • I've planned to buy? It is better?

  • Have never owned such a shit phone. If I turn sound down to silent it won't turn up again unless I reboot. Sounds speaker makes wining noise instead of sound.

  • Hi How were you able to get the firmware update for this phone. I have been looking on how to update this phone.

  • Sent this phone in once after the battery reported issues. Replaced both motherboard, battery and also a firmware upgrade. No issues after that. This is actually a very decent phone if you were able to get the chipset firmware upgrade.

  • 50% auto shutdown.. Verry bad

  • Sifting through comments, it's all positive for this phone except battery, overheating and shutting down. 3000mAh to drive a deca-core is asking a tad too much. Screen, processor, tasks etc consume juice. Intense usage such as gaming continuously definitely maxes out (or almost) the processor therefore heating up the procesor and by default the phone. Any gadget generating heat has an inbuilt protection mechanism - in the case of phones it is to shut down so as to cool and prevent damage (ever used a laptop with faulty fan or clogged vents?). The metallic body on your phone is more than just strength and aesthetics - it is also an informal heat sink dissipating heat and cooling the phone. Holding the phone in your hands not only insulates, but adds to the heat thus negating the phone's cooling effort. My solution, play away in sub-zero temps, get a board game or talk to people more - whichever tickles your fancy.

  • Just bought a Z2 four days ago and I am very happy with it at the price I bought it for. Phone is very fast and the camera is great. Takes pics extremely fast. Android 6 is very plain Jane, but I'm ok with that. Screen is very responsive. WiFi is a bit slower than other devices I have, but it does ok. My only complaint so far is the sim situation. You can't have 2 sims and a memory card. You have to choose between a second sim or the memory card. Other ppl complain about over heating and the battery drains quickly. I have no problems with that. Battery last a long time for me, but I'm not gaming a lot. A really good buy IMO.

  • Can i swap my vivo y55s smartphone

  • Good phone, it doesn't heats like i read in some comments. The only problem i have, it have a weak battery.... besides that, good phone, good looking, and good performer

  • what meaning hardcore

  • its ok if u not playing a game with it ..no heating at all and no cut power (for me).. but it will overheating when u play hardcore game then shutdown itself when u battry drain to 45% (for me).. n that is not a reboot .. u need turn it on back..

  • Please, tell me more about overheating and self-reboot problem. How does it happen? Thx in advance.

  • Wth does that mean?

  • Good phone but gets too cold

  • Exchange for a new one with warranty. No way to salvage the situation

  • i bought my Sharp Z2 just yesterday and im a bit sad coz even if its 100% full charged, its keeps on shutting off itself.its giving me so much inconvenience :( could anyone advice me what to do?

  • The phone literally heats up a lot when gaming, plus the phone shuts down on its own even when it's at 40%. This phone does well for gaming, but the battery is weak and temperatures of the phone is quite high.

  • I've recently bought the Sharp A1/Z2 (LeEco Inside) and everything was running smooth until it feel on the ground. The front screen is brooken! I look everywhere for a replacement...even with SHARP taiwan but no luck. No even in Aliexpress or ebay....I don't find parts for this phone anywhere. Can someone provide some help?

  • Read a review of this phone said the reviewer it does relatively cool and fine when doing gaming games but it goes warmer when doing browsing and other stuff, which is yet need to explained on what the anomaly is. However it's nice to limiting the cores in order to prevent any unwanted heating likes run the core in Quadcore + Dualcore when needed or only run the processor on Dualcore or just limiting it to Octacore or Quadcore . Anyone has any idea on how to limiting the core via any means?

  • Guys, I nee ur opinion, I saw that few knew about this phone. Why? It has a deca-core processor, chipset of Helio X20, GPU Mali-T880 MP4 which is great for gaming, and the camera is 16 mp, yet I see many discomforting comments about this phone. Care to explain? Just for knowledge of course

  • Actually, I am not using this phone.. But phone which I am using is Infocus Epic 1 which is Sister phone of this S2 Having same battery issue.. My Epic 1 auto turn off at 50% Mark ... And when I switch it on its battery is draining very speedily..

  • Bought 2 units of the phone in January 2017. Experienced overheat problem, phone will auto shutdown, battery is weak where initially will auto shutdown at 30% mark but now as of August 2017, will auto shutdown even battery at 70% level! Unbelievable...

  • Utilizing all cores without burning your phone with the chip is impossible, it's decacore from Mediatek and such thing is common. The processor is made with compound of dualcore, Quadcore and Quadcore so If you want to keep the phone from overheating when playing game then limit the processing to either dualcore or Quadcore. Otherwise, a relatively cool processor with octacore is for example Snapdragon 625

  • Support otg?

  • Have used this phone for a while now . Overall handling and performance is very good . For those having overheating issue when playing games ... one question to you guys ... Which phone / processor does not heat up when u play games and utilize full processing capacity ? Those having wifi , camera , etc issues ...please factory reset the phone with your sim card and memory card installed in the phone . Otherwise ... this phone is great in terms of performance , speed , reliability .

  • You can actually get the gorrila glass screen protector from taobao

  • Mine shutdown by itself during operating. Overheating yes. Camera and flash not working well. Speaker too loud. Looking forward to switch soon.

  • 3G-4G

  • anyone having issues with wifi? seems like connected to same wifi, but Z2 speed slower compared to other devices... Also, the automatic brightness doesn't seem to be very sensitive

  • Has anyone tried using Sharp Z2 as Wlan Hotspot (Tethering)? Mine could connect for a very short time..I see it connects in 5 seconds then disconnects. Connect, disconnect until I fnally give up. Could it be bugs? Or even worse.. Some snakes LooooL 😂

  • Probably your lens unclean, mines is OK

  • Yes overheating, but otherwise quite easy to use. Except not able to get handphone cover and screen protector in Singapore

  • No lagging just have some overheat problems when gaming

  • Blue notification led also available

  • How come my camera is like a bit blur? When i open the camera software and ready to take photo it look nice, but after snap it become a bit blur... What is the problem?

  • Agree the speaker is loud. Display is very good becoz ltps lcd... Yes it have led notification light. But only green n red colour

  • Yes have a led light notification. Its worth the money..

  • does this phone have led notification light?

  • I am going to get mine on Tuesday. Yeah haters may GTH hahahahaaa

  • Mediocre photo quality and loud but tinny speaker sound. Bizarrely, video quality looks amazing, perhaps the camera software has some bugs. Excellent display and very fast. Fix the camera, and it's a great all round phone.

  • Multi tasking is very good becoz of ample 4gb ram.. only display under sunlight is just mediocre.. in term of processor sharp z2 beat mi max. As for display colour is more accurate n vibrant. Colour reproduction also mi max cant compete. I like mi note better becoz display is JDI n more vibrant. The only advantage of mi max is big. When u wearing a pant is too big in pocket. I love my mi max n i still keep it. Sharp also good but cannot beat xiaomi in term of UI. Xiaomi is more stable to update n very user friendly.

  • No lag at all. Overheating rarely occur..

  • Can you please share the following info for Z2 which is using Helio X20: 1) Overheating issue? 2) Lagging? 3) Multi-tasking performance? 4) Display under sunlight?

  • Sorry to disappoint you pal but mi max is slightly better than Sharp Z2

  • I mean low quality product.. he he. Sory for those who dont understand

  • Of course cannot beat i phone 6 which is much higher price. This a midrange smartphone not the premium one.. Its slightly better than mi max.. for ada its is usual for malaysian to mix the language. Sory if others dont understands.. he he..

  • Cap Ayam (Chicken Brand for those who don't speak the language)? I was not expecting to hear that here XD Thanks for the replies, they help a lot, since I'm looking for a companion device for my Mi Max, having 2 SIM cards and all that jazz :)

  • my father buying this phone Sharp Z2 camera i giving 3/5 father said iphone 6s is better how about Zenfone 3 ?

  • Its wifi and gps performance is very good. Easy to detect line both wifi and mobile internet network.. its not a cap ayam n low cost phone. Quality its very good..

  • Thanks for the reply :) Other factors I'm curious about are it's GPS and WiFi performance - Have these factors of the phone performed well for you? :)

  • Video quality is good n support 4k n 2k using fine mode.. i not pro but the camera is ok for the midrange hset.

  • Camera is better than mi max. Video quality is good. Not as good as camera in mi note but its a good shooter.

  • How is the camera compared to the Mi Max? Have you managed to test both out in a relatively extensive manner? Curious about the video quality as well :)

  • Already using this phone for 2 weeks. Display easy very good. But in direct sunlight just moderate. Mtk deca core processor is awesome no lagging. Plus 4gb ram adding more to multitasking. Simcard 2 support 4g since sim 1 use for microsd card.. score in antutu 6 is 89+++. Only left by few margin to more expensive huawei p9 plus which is 91+++. Battery is quick charge. UI is simple yet ease to use. Not have a widget. Basic UI but bring back old memories.. fingerprint is more responsive than my previous mi max.. overall 4.5 stars out of 5. Satisfied with price n performance. Value for money

  • Is this phone good? A phone with deca core from sharp which just started to explore into mobile industry.. Anyone using this phone? how's the performance and rating?

  • is this z2 dual LTE without switching sim card position?

  • The word is "too simple and boring". General ui also the same. The brightness adjustment scroll missing... Lame unboxing. hopefully they will use ui like motorola simple and friendly.

  • Please share more on your using experience of Z2. I planned to buy it also.

  • LTE means 4G. But this phone is dual sim. It doesn't write anywhere if it supports 4G for only one SIM or both.

  • For this price this is a very impressive premium midrange phone. Its super fast n the batt will last more than a day for heavy users as well.

  • 4g

  • bought and tried this Z2. very basic androids operating system without so many add ons like others samsung etc. love it. hater can GTH.

  • Please keep this in mind: It's a smartphone from a Japanese brand

  • Is Sharp Z2 a 4G or 3G phone. Please let me know.

  • Can this phone use 4G+4G or at least 4G+3G for both SIM cards concurrently? I know most dual SIM phones in the market are only 4G+2G capable.

  • What type of Corning Gorilla Glass for Z2?

  • Oh boy! I am just saying these global phones are not made in Japan, but by Foxconn. So quality will be probably different. It is so hard to understand?? And NO, not the whole company belongs to Foxconn. You should read more.

  • for everybody who doesn't understand like this person, many phones are assembled in Foxconn!! This phone designed by Sharp mobile division, but Sharp was bought by Foxconn recently.. just like Tata Motors bought landrover/jaguar.. And needless to say, Foxconn is also assembling other phones such iphone, blackberry.. Foxconn also assembling other devices like xbox, pc/laptops from hp/dell,acer etc..

  • LTPS IPS LCD used in iPhone is a Sharp tech including the IGZO.

  • Cause LTPS IPS LCD is a tech of Sharp, Apple acquired it to use on their products.

  • For everybody who does not know yet, this phone was made by Foxconn, 66 percent of Sharp was bought by Foxconn.

  • The IPS came from JDI (Japan Display Inc)

  • NOW you're going somewhere, Sharp! Make the price reasonable, make the phone available in a good amount of regions and you've got a seller.

  • Z2 has almost the same specs as Asus Zenfone 3 but with high end chipset of Helio X20. Its display is LTPS IPS LCD which is used by iPhone as well.

  • Nice phone
