I like this phone very much and when I lost mine after nine years I immediately got another one just the same. However it was not new and every time I try to send a text, there is a number that comes up automatically, that I don't want. The phone was supposed to be completely wiped before I bought it. I have tried deleting all call records but still this annoying number keeps coming up. It is not in the mobile's own directory but it must be somewhere in the chip. Any ideas how to get rid of it?

We have one in each car for emergencies. 250Hrs standby yes, but an eternity if not actually switched on. Bombproof, childproof, reliable old fashioned technology. Used to be our main phones but couldn't bear to part with them. (Husband and wife)

Had this phone since its release, nearly died once but came back to life. Did just switch itself off a second ago mid-text for no apparent reason for the first time ever but thats it, two problems since 2003?! Exceptional. Does everything a phone ever needed to do, battery is ridiculously good and its a pleasure to use. I will have nothing bad ever said about this phone and will never get rid of it!!!

This is by far the best quality cell phone out there. I had it since 2005 and had not a single moment's grief with this wonderful gadget. No need for any other cell phone and I will never ever replace this phone for any other in the world. It's such a pity that its discontinued. I guess the best does not last for long.

Hey guys! I Had this Siemens since 5 years ago, and it still works!!! My car passed over it, it was trowed to wall by one of my friends and it still shines, without problems!!! It is really a reliable phone... Oh! And my battery takes 4 days to go off, always using it... xD GREAT PHONE!!!

Yeah that's one tough reliable animal. Very handy menu too, only the basics and all you might need is few clicks away. Mine's been through A LOT and it's still going. Think that it will last forever :)

I agree, and wouldn't swap my A55 for anything else. Have had it since '03 I have the Siemens A55 manual. it has nearly 90 pages, but still need it on occasions. If you have a specific instructional need I would be happy to send an email with a copy of the relevant page(s) as an attachment. John

well, this phone im using it for 3 years now. (just a phone ive been using after loosing 4 phones) its cool. it never breaks even when i throw it around, kick it, drop it (accidentally). i just dont like the design its very cheap looking. but the quality of the phone is really good and it really works well and has a very long life battery. i dont charge it everyday. i like charge it after 5 days. this is good only has a design problem.

I love my A55. I bought it 2nd hand from e-bay about 18 months ago, and it's brilliant. I only paid about �15 (including postage) so I don't have to worry about it ever being lost or stolen. Who cares about all the whistles and bells on newer models, when all I want is a phone to keep in the car, in case of emergencies.

I used to have this phone and although I said I didn't like it, it was very simple and easy to use. I was watching my cousin surfing one day and it dropped from my pocket into the water, and it still worked. It fell out of my pocket (again)from a two story balcony and onto a concrete driveway and it still worked. I dropped it from my bag on tiles in a school change room and yet again it worked. If you often drop phones or like a sturdy phone this is the phone for you. I reccomend it for a first phone or if u dun mind black and white phones then its fantastic. I

Mah fiintze!Je had such a phone and I still have it in the wardrobe...or behind the bed... daahhh don't remember where I put it but still,now I have a philips 855 that's a mess! Simens a55 it's such a strog phone ... it seldom gets crazy!If u want a good phone,get it BUT! This is the only one in the series (a55,a51,a57,...) that doesn't have the posibility of download thing from the internet.Trust me,u can't.In rest,it deffinatly is a respectable phone (damn where did I put it...?)

I have had this phone for 2 years now, and it was working fine. However, this year it has started to turn off by itself when I'm texting, or if I leave it on too long. This was a good phone as a first phone, but as it does not have other extra functions such as a camera and multimedia messaging, I am going to have to get a new phone. An annoying thing about this phone is that it has very loud clicky buttons, and you can't text very fast without making a lot of noise.I am looking forward to getting a colour screen phone after looking at an orange screen for 2 years. It is compact size, and has enjoyable games that have produced hours of amusement. A very good phone.

this is my first phone, had it over 2 years now. i've been looking for something more up to date, but to be honest i haven't seen anything better! if all you want are the important things like a phone that works,is tough and fits easily into your pocket, then this phone is fine. the batterry lasts ages too. after looking at many other phones and reading poor reviews for most of them, i'm gonna stick with my a55 a while longer.

for all u guys trying to download ringtones on siemens A55, u can download via wap. Lots of wap sites give free ringtones.. chk them out on the internet and then go to their wap site via the wap browser in the phone and download the tones for free. all u have to pay is wap charges of your ISP. also u can receive tones via sms from other siemens users.

Good phone at a fair price. Excelent for those who want a basic phone and don't want to pay any extra for additional features. Pretty solid built, good signal (even in the forest/mountains), and decent stand-by time (mine last about a week with few calls/sms per day, but no games). Polyphonic sounds are nice; Vibrations could be a bit stronger.

hi! pretty good phone, lots of features. i like especially the polyphonic ringtones, but, allas, they are so few... :-( also, what pisses me off is that there is no organizer. i save contacts as sms. it should be easy to put one, as the phone knows what day it is today and tomorrow, because of the alarm clock. but, overall, a good phone.

The Siemens A55 is not the best phone, But it still is pretty good, Much better than the Motorola T191. Thats for sure. Wap 1.2.1 is OK but it would be better if it was a little higher.

I bought the A55 and tried out on Siemens as were told that quite good nowadays. This is a budget phone but surprising when I bought it and found out that the features are not bad. It offers polyphonic tones, EMS (enhanced messaging services), Nice games, wap access, can write and receive chinese sms, etc...the best of all the handsfree speakerphone (quite loud and clear)and its small built that quite nice design. Ipaid only a small price for the phone but was satisfied of what I get from this phone. Good Buy if you don't want to pay so much and yet want to get all the useful functions-GO FOR IT.(The Siemens A55)

What's the improvement in this model. I notice only it is smaller and lighter... Has anybody bought this phone and can tell what's new in this phone. I personally assume that there is organiser (In the A50 the function organiser was not found except in the specifications set by Siemens).
