this is a superb phone. But, my phone's software has gone now, and when i try to switch is on, the lcd lights up and switches off with a buzz sound. I'd love if i could have it back. so does anyone know, any phone with the same specifications and quality?

It was a good basic phone, until I couldn't turn it on again. Now every time when I try to turn it On, I see a blue screen and hear a buzz for a second, like other users.

After about a year of use, I got the same problem like some of yours: the phone doesn't turn on again when pushing the ON-button. This phone is distributed for free by a Belgian operator in order to replace their oldest series of phones, so be careful. I bought another phone now gave the Siemens to my 4 years old daughter to play with it. Grtz.

I had mine run over by a car by accident once.. And it's still up and running.:) I consider one would use a phone for talking basically, and that the phone should need to do the following only: good signal, good battery, be robust, have an ok interface. Well, it's not real sound, nor millions of colours, the battery lats for two or three days at most, but the signal is very good and it will probably outlive me.

I had one of these phones for 13 months, then, as other users have found, it failed (press 'on' switch - screen goes blue for 2 seconds, nothing else except a buzz). I bought another - perhaps stupidly. 13 months later, same fault exactly. Have lost valuable info stored. Local Mobile shop say nothing can be done - that it happens to Mobiles of all makes and is a software fault. However, I shall buy phones of other makes in future!

iv had this phone for 2 years now. it has worked fine for me even though is used it quite constantly. but its not a very strong handset, the battery hook is very weak, and i had to recharge this phone evry day. iv given it up now coz its software is down..and doesnt turn on. on the exterior..its colour starts peeling off with a month of use. scratches on the screen is inevitable no matter how carefully it is used!plus i dont like the games it has to offer, let alone the ringtones!

Nice basic phone for emergencies, BUT, BUT, twice my darling wife left the phone on standby in her handbag, and inadvertently, the call button was pressed twice - first press gets 'last number called', send press rings the number. So, she calls me, I hear everything around her, she can't hear me, mobile credit down the drain.... DO NOT PURCHASE, just because of this crap 'design' feature. Cheers Mel

This is a very good phone I had it for 1 and a half years and the battery is still very good( 4 - 5 days) I love Siemens!

I had the Siemens A62 for 1.5 years. Used it only for emergencies. Worked fine. except: Almost always OFF when carrying it in my pocket. It went ON sometimes when it was in my pocket. Now after 1.5 years the siemens A62 is defect. Screen shows up for a very short time, and the speaker gives a little soft buzzing sound. Sounds like a 50 hz which you can get on audio equipment. Defect after only 1.5 years, isn't this very quick ?

I don't know if this topic is still being checked, but I have a 'small' problem. Somebody changed the language of my A62 and now I can't get it back :/ ... I checked the internet for usermanuals but they don't seem to be online. If somebody could help me out by for example giving me the nr. of the submaps .. or give a screenshot. Thank you!

yeh well in settings ringer is on BUT it does not actually ring!!!! Is this a common prob as I've read that others have the same prob?

Hi, my ringer is switched off and I don't know how to switch it back on. There's a crossed out bell on the display, but if I go to "ringer setting" it's "on". Can anyone help? Thank you!

"there's no 'New SMS' option on my A62 and it switiches off whenever i try to access the Inbox" In case it helps anybody, I solved this by using another sim card rather than the one that came with the phone. The New SMS option appears and the phone doesn't crash when trying the other sms options.

I bought this for my wife who is not a phone buff - neither am I - but we are moderately intelligent. The A62 manual I think is designed to prevent use & learning. Unless I can find complete and clear operating instructions I shall have to ditch it and get a Nokia like my own. Can any one please help??

Literally just bought this phone to replace my S55. I wanted a simple, no frills phone which I could use all my previous plugs-in. I looks and feels just like my old S55 but a bit lighter (bit plasticy!). The S55 slowly disintegrated (buttons fell off!) and it looks like this won't last much longer but if I get a year out of it I'll be happy, thanks to Argos for selling it for under �20!!!

nice, basic phone - which is all i wanted. Fits snugly in my hand when i want to text etc; maybe others had probs getting sim updates; took a day or so, but I got em all - then, Preeya, your inbox and draft etc functions will work; tho i suppose you've sorted that out by now!

I just got this phone (for free) when I (forcefully) needed to change phones since the network I'm subscribed to is going to change systems. The phone is HELL. - It is slow (menu's/updates/etc) - Buttons are freaking to small and very prone to miss hits. - Phone itself is very small and not designed to be hold in one hand and press buttons with your thumb (unless you have a small child's hand that is) - Navigation and menu's are NOT userfriendly at all in any way! And you need to press all sort of buttons to do a simple task. - Some of the memory is filled with useless (English) predefined sms texts; no way to delete or even change those. - (ring)tones are too silent. Though you can change the volume, it isn't really audible in practice - Turning phone on/off is slow (and you NEED to give each time a confirmation, otherwise your phone turns back off.. stupid "aircraft mode") - etc... I have found NO advantages AT ALL for this phone (for me) compared to my old Nokia 5130!* They can give back my old Nokia 5130 (brick) any time! *Except for the looks of it maybe.

preeya you need to get a sim update. when you first switch on the phone after charging you should recieve 4 text messages which are the sim update. If this does not happen, (which is what happened to me,) you need to contact your vendor who will contact the network providor and they will send the update to you phone.

Despite what everyone else has said, I like this phone. My grandmother has received it as a Christmas present, upgraded from a nokia brick, and at 29 quid plus free airtime (on orange) you can't really go wrong with a phone. It is simple to use, its slim, and it has enough features for it not to be too boring. Well done Siemens!

Right, i feel like just throwing this phone in the flipping thames... I hate it! I can't frigging delete old voicemail...And i can't even send a decent msg.. when i look in the book, it keeps refering me to the predifined msgs, i don't want that!... i flipping what to right my own msgs, i can't do a SPACE TAB, so all the msgs i've sent lookslikethis,allmessedupandstuff

Right i just bought this phone (because my last one was broken when i put it in the washing machine... and then tumble dryer) and i have to turn it on every 2 hours, because it turns its self off every 2 hours... the screen has developed a red line down it too (keep in mind i havent had this phone a week) not only that but the buttons are fiddly and prone to "miss clicks" and i have already called moutian rescue while it was in my pocket (yeh key lock is great) in all honestly if you have this phone and it works for you great otherwise get a good phone, im just going to flush mine down the toilet because thats all its good for.

nice phone in affordable price. but the ring tones are very low. sometimes not possible to hear in roads.battery time is also very low. total talk time is never 5hr. it's quite slow also. but in comparison to price it's a good phone.
