this was my first sony cam phone ever, i remember getting it on a lank cheap contract, besides the fact that i couldnt find a new battery for this phone, i will say that for its time and price it delivered a great performance, thats something sony still gives today in their cheaper range phones.

Hi Anonymous, As for the joystick, is best to push the joystick down from th top of it, and for up, from the bottom of it, and ryt push on the left of it, and left... to the ryt. :-)

This phone has too low memory and has the worst design, its buttons are too hard has a VGA camera which is totally pointless to put in a phone. It has a ugly vodafone logo on the bottom of the phone which makes the design shit. It does not support fm radio, 3G, bluetooth and countless other useful applications. It has a mp3 player but they cant be used as a ringtone. It has a fixed 12 mb internal memory which is like 2 songs?? Whats the point of having a mp3 playr in a phone if it has no external memory and has only 12 mb internal memory. Out of 10 I rate this phone 0!!. Worst phone I have ever used. It deserves to be thrown away.

I used this phone for 2 years until i upgraded to a nokia 6234 last year. My opinion? This is my first and last nokia! The f500 just lasted a whole lot longer! Although it switched off by itsself a lot in the last few months that i had it, it didn't really have any other problems. I am convinced of buying a Sony E the next time i upgrade!

this phone is beyond crappy. my girlfriend had this phone and thank god, it got stolen. it was fine at its time but the keys were so damn hard and its camera sucks. doesnt even have that good of a memory. and it had loads of bugs

Brent, you are not alone, i do exactly the same to mine, iv dropped it, thrown it, i once fully submerged it in a glass of water and pulled it out and continued texting. Just the other day i threw it at least 7 metres into the air and misjudged the distance, it landed flat on a concrete path, the face plate came off a bit, i snapped it back on and kept txting. A little trooper is my Phillip (yes he has a name). I love him to bits but i got him second hand and the battery is really crap. it barely lasts a day when im not txting. perhaps will upgrade.. but i cant bare to part with dear phillip.. perhaos il buy a display case and keep him for old times sake. Oh there he is vibrating now with a txt for me.. Cherio then..

This phone is a survivor, Ive treated it how every phone should not be treated!(*puts his head down in shame*) Ive dropped it about 200 times and thrown it more times than i can remember.My friends are amazed at the fact that it is still working! lol. The appearance is shocking but it works the same as it did the day i bought it. I have since then upgraded to a K800i and have a huge respect for sonyericsson!

Hi, I got this mobile for over a week now and I think it's brill. It could be an 'old' phone to purchase but I only care about the picture and the sound quality. I transferred mp3s to my phone and it cannot be set as a ringtone, is there an alternative? Also when I send videos from the phone to laptop, which progam do I use to open it? Pretty gud fone when i got it, has unlimited video and gud memory 4 its time and looked good but now is old and has problems- - joystick is USELESS. half the time when txting and u want to scroll back to change sumthing it thinks you,ve pressed it down 2 say ok and it sends the message. Other half of the time it doesnt work at all. Also joystick has links to voda. live and calendar, etc, so when u push the stick down it goes to these and not the menu. Email service is no good and for some reason my voda. live doesnt work properly. Camera cover is annoyin. Basically, unless it is new and the stick is in excellent condition (mine was secondhand, but near new)AVOID.

hey u all whining about ur joystick. i have the solution to ur problem. its sipmle. hold the joystick down with ur thumb and keep rotating it in circles for about 2 minutes. ur prob will be solved

hi people i've this phone it's good and work well exept the joystick it hangs sometimes & also when i charge my phone i have to connect the charger and pull it out several time until the phone can see it..the problem is not in the charger but i think it's from the phone itself..& i'll describe this phone in few words: small memory no bluetooth low quality VGA camera i won't recommend this phone for anyone

i have had this phone a while now, its pretty good...loved it when i first got it, getting bored of it now! (it's a pretty old model now so wouldn't mind a newer one) but otherwise, yeh mine's still working! the middle button does stick sometimes though, which is annoying. also, compared to newer phones, it's quite bulky now, and the camera could be better...i like the shutter cover thing though..! :) x

this is a brilliant fone. ive had it 4 ovr a yr and it is real easy 2 use. it hasnt broken yet and probably wont. i think people should buy this fone if they want something cheap and easy to use.

i have had this fone over a year and it hasnt broken :) but.... 1) it is in need of bluetooth instead of infra red because alligning the handsets together is annoying and more ppl hav bluetoth 2) more memory needed, i can only fit a couple good MP3's onto it before more memory is needed 3) a better menu interface, the icons on this look tacky compared with other handsets by ericsson video and picture quality is good though it was well worth the �80 last year but i would prefer the quickshare sony ariccson for the same price now

I have one, and have had alot of problems with it. It can't send e-mails right, it freezes up quite alot, the stick on it keeps breaking (and there is no alternative control, like buttons). I have some problems with some games on there too, but thats more a minor thing, and i have soooo many problems with vodaphone, but this isn't the place to share that... But for the money i paid, it is about worth it, its done everything major i've wanted it for, and i've eventually got it to work pretty much all the time.

i bought this phone in croatia one year ago and i can say i am pleased with it. for cca. 150� it is quite good. the only thing i dont like is the camera, the fact that it has no bluetooth and that i cant have mp3 ringtones. the phone fell on the floor and the display broke and the repair costed 200�-the phone costed 150�, i was furious. i am going to sell it for 50� and im going to buy a motorola V360v or an MPx220.

Bought this phone under 6months ago and sick of it already, slow as anything, doesnt charge properly, and crashed frequently, apart from that, it takes decent quality photos until u get low on memory then the photo quality goes down rapidly, i was on pay as you go but have just signed up for a nice new contract phone

I've had this phone nearly a year now and have found it to be a very good phone. I've only recently replaced it with a Nokia 6230i but I still keep it as a back-up. The phone takes good photos at what I consider a minimum usable quality of 640*480. Its user interface is very easy to use and I found the infra-red very handy. There is a problem with the little "joy-stick", after a lot of use it get stiff and is awkward to use. My girlfriend had the same phone and she ended up cursing the "joy-stick" and replacing her phone with the Sharp GX25. 1) Phone could do with bluetooth as every other phone out there now supports this (and some no longer support infra-red). 2) Could also do with a memory card or a way to upload your data(photos, sounds etc) to your pc. I have around 150 photos on my phone and no way to transfer them other than infra-red which is verrrrry slow. 3) This isn't a wind-up but our (mine & the girlfriend's) phones CRASHED around three or fgour times EACH. The phone froze and couldn't be switched off, had to remove the battery in order to "reboot"/restart it. I suppose this is inevitable the more phones become like computers. I'd give this phone 6/10

well the phone has gotten lots of good features,but i just bought it not more than a week,and i am now suffering from a joystick problem,really i was disappointed. And another main problem i am facing right now is that the phone freezes sometimes while you are using it,these problems really annoys any user using the same phone. Brilliant phone! Had this for over a year. Still going great. The joystick is a bit sticky sometimes now and it is possible to replace the front and back panels of the phone. I use for the latest 3D games and it has lots of capabilities, especially if you know where to download java games and applications. Its got a a brilliant camera too (can take 1 megapixel pics - interpolated) and can do loads of other stuff too) pictures taken in poor lighting conditions have lots of noise in them but if you send them to your PC you can use noise-reducing programs to smooth the images out...

Had this phone well over 1 year now - have never had a problem except freezing up when downloaded crap quality free java games. Has no probs with good quality games. Joystick has only just become an issue because of me playing the tennis game so much. Display - you can't expect much from a 65k screen!! Love this phone!!

DO NOT BUY THIS PHONE! When I first got it a year ago it was like a dream phone - stylish, good performance, large screen etc. But after about 6 months the joystick screws up! You can't even move it due to the dust trapped behind it and it hurts your thumbs. And it costs a king's ransom to get it fixed. This is a problem with all Sony Ericson joystick mobile phones. They get dust trapped in them and screw up VERY FRUSTRATING

this phone is a load of rubbish. I had to have the battery replaced after about 4 months & now the charger wont work at all unless you hold it into the phone at a certain angle. The battery life is poor and the camera images are distorted if you have them set at a high resoloution. I also found the image editing software very bad compared to that on my previous siemens mobile.

To mute the sound of the camera whilst taking a photograph you need to turn your phone volume down to 0. Go to settings and then sounds and alerts then change your volume down to the bottom! This prevents the awful camera noise! Hope that helps.... Becky xxx

I don't know anyone still want to know this, but if you want to take pictures silent, call a free number (e.g. vodafone customer service (the robot girl:) ) then while on the air just take photos (press camera button on the side, video not available during call but you can take photos without sound). That's it.

This model is same as da K508i, I luv dis fone its small has great features and a great price! the only thing that has gone wrong with it is that the 2 soft keys locked in under the cover so i had to take it to get repaired oh yeah, and the camera sound is really annoying. great work Sony Ericsson!

this phone has juz 12 mb :) i know it sux in many factor but i teach u some ways to make it better if u were to get mp3 songs,juz try to record ur songs near to ur players in COm or so on and Record far away from like 2cm's away.It's very good in this way and it saves a lot of ur memory in getting more programs,pics,etc.

Don't buy this phone!!!! From the very week I had mine small faults started developing, and with all the little faults combined, its one crappy little fone! K500 is the most worth it phone lately because of its cool features and affordable price. T630 just has blue tooth which has the same purpose as infrared, you can still swap. t630 has only 2mb memory while k500 has 12mb. This f500i is the more colorful version of the k500

This message is for "SS" this phone isn't meant to be a proper mp3 player, it's only meant for mp3 ringtones (not actual full songs) so please don't complain about it "only" having 10MB memory as thats way better then most phones, the motorola v535 has mp3 ringtones too and it only has 5MB memory.And another plus about the f500i, its a media player! How cool is that!? When i get a data cable I'm gonna put mp3s, my fave celeb photos and even a couple of tv show trailers on my phone!

First the bad news since that is what will influence your decision most: I was totally and utterly disappointed in this phone after I bought it. Maybe this did not happen to any of you out there but my phone FROZE most of the time. This happened everytime I tried to access my phone book. So I just turned it on and off all the time until at one point it didn't want to turn itself off. My advice is: if you have been influenced by all these happy folks with this phone CHECK OUT THE ADDRESS BOOK FIRSTLY and see if you can access it and if it freezes up on you DON'T GET IT! On the plus side: I was very impressed with the video quality, the camera worked like a charm and the resolution was dynamic. BUT if it didn't have this flaw I would definately recommend it. I'm using the model K508i , i think it is same like the F500i..... its a great phone , i'm happy using it and it is awesome ! I got siemens CX65 in my list too when i trying to choose between K508i and CX65 , finaly i pick the SONYERICSSON ! No regret , i love it ! only 1 Q , the mobileshop told me that K500i cannot support chinese language , but the K508i can , is it true ? but i think this 2 model only different at the keypad only , do u think so ? besides the extra 2MB , what else things are different ? pls tell me ?!!!!!!!!! better get the K500. it has 2MB more. about ur answer - u can record till ur memory gets full. so, 2mb counts ;) (an average 10sec clip -MMS format- takes about 90k, u get the picture, right? :)

best thing i like about the exterior design of this phone is the protective lens cover - a unique feature not found on many cameraphones. its got good memory too, 12MB. i love this phone. buy it its real good. cheaper than many other video-camera-phones too.

I cant see why all this ppl complained about this phone. slow - i think not. Phone is super fast. I mean why ppl complain before they try it? older se phones using stf screen was slow. Also, i dont understand why on all pictures on net it look worst than in life. Keypad and all other blue parts is much darker (at least in my version). so it look much better. better than k500 for me. Also only drawback by voda is mp3 ringtones and icons. i can live without it for much better price.

there've been a number of comments about this phone's slowness. i recently got this phone and the only noticeable (albeit nasty) slowness is when connected by infrared to your computer, transferring files. otherwise it's perfectly fine. The only other problem i had was when i exported my phone contacts as a .vcf to integrate into outlook... the .vcf's are not formatted correctly, doesn't work properly with newer versions of outlook. ... all the features i've read about here not being in the phone ARE in the phone. read the damn manual. and yeah mine's a pre-pay from vodafone and i've got every feature listed for it.

This is a really good phone! I seriously don't know why people keep saying that it is crap. It is not slow at all, it is extremely light, the video recorder can record for at least five minutes and overall it is one of the best phones I've seen. I prevously owned a Sharp GX10i (my first phone) and the SE F500i is better in my opinion. One bad point about this phone is that the still-camera picture quality is not great.

Dont buy it, listen from me. Vodafone has locked the phone to near useless functionality, well you can buy it from ur granny! You cant change themes, and you can not use mp3 ringtones. You cant change wallpaper and the icons suck.

I have read with interest all the comments on this phone so far and all I would say is if you want a modern, lightweight, good value for money phone then this should be on your shortlist (especially if you're a PAYT customer) So what if its specific to vodafone? No mobile phone operator can be without criticism. The services that vodafone offer are suitable for me! So its looks aren't to everyones tastes, but I like it-beauty is in the eye of the beholder! The colour might look better for some if you change the themes, wallpaper. Switched on or off it looks fine to me. The screen is excellent-large and clear, and though the keys are close together they are responsive and positive. I am aware of its short comings-it COULD do with more memory, but it is a fun phone. As for a radio I would want a phone with a DAB radio anyway!! Not everyone can have everything they want, and there will always be a better phone out there. Each to his own but if you buy this phone (or the similar K500) you won't be disappointed. :))

this phone irritates me. It's horrible and i should say sony ericsson rushed to ease competition but it seems they have made a big mistake in doing so. They are probably lagging behind now. I think they should have taken more time in creating a more attracrive design and then this ugly duckling would have been a cracker. Maybe it's just the color (blue) and the vodafone red which don't coincide or it's just me being too picky. But then this phone ain't so bad. It's features are rather modern and updated. I would buy this phone for convenience not for fashion. Anyway, it's just a thought from me, the mystichrome
