Hi dear friends :) I've bought this phone in 2008 and I should say that I still do everything with it except playing games :)) It got repaired just once and the problem was sticky power button.It has a good camera and the slide works just fine after 6 years of usage.Even it was not necessary to replace the battery with a new one :) One thing is clear for me.I was lucky that I bought this piece of art and I'll keep it as long as it lasts :) My next phone will be from Sony 'cause its products come out with the best quality :)

I Would say That despite It's Chunkyness, This Phones Keeps Up with modern Times And Would Be Perfect For A person that does'nt want a Touch Screen smartphone, And A person That Prefers A More Simple Interface. In Conclusion This phone Has a Nice Design, advanced Features Such As: GPS & Wi-Fi & in General Performs Well... I got sick of stupid touchscreen smartphones, so i got myself a new G705. It wasn't easy job to find one, but I suceed. It was cheap, about 60�, but worth a lot more! It's a phone that have all you need from mobile, it looks better alive then in pictures and batt backup is great! This phone have my recomendation. Cheers! ;) Btw. I'm writing this on my G705... :P

Youtube and wi-fi is working well. I bought this phone more than 1yr ago for 2nd hand, my G705 is very durable and efficient! I fell it in the water while taking a bath for twice but its still working. And sometimes i accidentally fell it into the ground but its still amazing compare to the first day that i've used it :-) G705 is the best! Its very easy to use, very easy to download file. I have been using this phone for about 2years. It works perfectly other than : -blurry image is produced when u have shaky hands -not-very-loud speaker(relatively low volume) -occasionally, it hangs (only if u multitask it) The camera is ok if u have steady hand to take pic =)

problems I have with this phone: 1st few months, it usually says charging but after few a hours, there were no charge at all, i bought to warranty service after few months, i had the same problem again, nothing is wrong with the charger, they say. the keypad is made of rubber, it turns dark after few weeks, no rubber at all is on it now 'cause i remove it myself the camera sucks, it's always blurry now i have a problem with earpiece this phone is just giving me problems for the past 1 and a half year

Mine just broke, after using for 20 months, just one month before I can renew my contract without penalty charges...sheez.. Anyway, this phone served me well. Only peeve is that start-up is quite slow. After you boot it up, it'll take a while before you can surf the folders, menus, functions and whatnots smoothly.

Let me start off by saying this is an awesome phone. One of the best I've ever had. It was good for playing my music which was very important to me. However a few months after purchasing the phone, the control buttons stopped working and I had to get a new phone. Another problem that I had with it was the quality of the pictures. For a 3.15mp I expected better pictures. Also, the areas around the buttons stripped pretty easily. Even with all those issues, I would definitely buy this phone again.

Don't install a software that has no signer. Pls review ur phone's security there you see available signer certificates. Many software comes with different signer, review the signer if it is available to ur phone otherwise it could damage ur software.

i got a 10 month old G705..huhuhu now i had to have it repaired coz its flexi cable is damaged..my front camera, screen, speaker is not working anymore..and the silver paint of the phone easily scraped off.. i do love the features of the phone but sadly the flexi cable got easily damaged in just 10 months..

I've owned mine for a year and I have not had the same issue with the buttons. This is a pretty viable business phone with native SyncML, and Exchange ActivSync. It supports AT&T 3G, and WiFi. Sound quality is above average and the external speaker is fairly loud. I did have problems with the phone hanging and restarting when I was moving around the menus quickly. After the update the problem seems to be gone. Also, the battery life improves dramatically with the updated firmware. I will be upgrading to a Nokia E72 but I will keep this g705 as a backup handset. Love SE sliders. No complaints.

Evrythng wl work well i guarantee you ds phone is great when comes to any net connection 3g or wifi! I use to upload my vids n youtube thru ds phone using wifi.

I've been using ds G705 for 3m0nths since i bought it. So far i haven't encountered any problem. I always use wifi connection and wap hspda f m out of d wlan range evryday for net surfing and youtube. I use 2 operaminis (operamini 4.2 and 5)at the same time opening fb, two different emails, uploadng and dwnloadng files while the youtube s running on task manager altogether. Also with my music player on. I always maximize usage of it never freeze nor hang! Compare to my w910 bfore. G705 Its ultimately fast downloadng and uploadng. My only cons here is small screen and camera. But d video s fine. For those that has freezing problems try update d softwar using d pcsuite thru internet. Thats what i did aftr a m0nth snce i bought just to b sure d interface to work well...

hey guys. ok i had this phone for almost 8 months and even though there is better, i think its become a favorite! its a simple phone, great camera, dont think i have had any wifi problems as it connects automatically everytime i enter the house, this phone is amazing, if you want to upgrade, upgrade to this one, no regrets guaranteed, its a great for texting, but the only problem i had is with the battery cover, once the phone falls down, the cover goes flying.. so its a bit fragile :) this phone is a good cookie, if simplicity and easy is what you're looking for then you will have a good treat =D

Do not buy this at Sony Ericsson Glorietta 3, they sell defective units. I bought mine here last August, and after 4 months, it was defective and Sony Ericsson Glorietta 3 advised me that it could no longer be used and that I should buy a new one. Wow so easy for them to say!

Nice phone! No! Awesome!! At my place the price for an AP set only rm580 (jan 2010). I now use it for 1 month and everything is still ok even i've dropped it to the floor several time. The function is great. The screen quite large. No problem with my wi-fi. Can install with java games and softwares. The media player is nice. Flash themes. The battery supports up to 3 days. But the only problem are the camera not really perfect but still clear and the speaker are too slow but still ok. Perfect phone for price under rm600 / Usd250

hi folks, just wanna share my experiences, I've had this gadget for 9 months, everything is still workin good, some of you said that this phone's suck on battery I don't think so,. I've tried and this phone could stand by almost a week, I used for couple texting, but if you use it for call,text,video and music,it'll last for 2 days and setting ur phone network into GSM network only does give the difference, (as far I know,it'll will search for the network coverage of UMTS or HSDPA eventhough u're in the area that doesn't have 3G or 3.5G, so why u lose ur power is u can save it???) and for the durability, I accidentally dropped it (maybe 5 times), it dropped from my desk and my pocket,but everything just fine,.just some scratch on the cassing,lol the speaker is awesome if u dont't put it on max volume (and if u find something that maybe annoying,just tune it on the equalizer,.) and it'll be much better using the headset, video and camera,they're more than average in noon usage,but not so good in the night, fortunately u can do something like setting ur white balance to incandescent and turn on ur light, what I found that bothering me was the flash, it is not flash light,just continuous light when we're taking pict,. starting up,..yeah,I don't like it, it takes more time than symbian phone or others, I think it's caused by using ur 'flash theme' so it'll take more time, wifi is working awesome, and I can watch video on youtube, (built-it app), fast but there was a time that my wifi didn't work, it said that it's connected,but I couldn't surf internet, but after having cleaned up the cookies and chace, it worked (can someone tell me why?? thanks) and give me some advice to find the office document application for it,.viewing and editting,. thanks, explore ur G705 and u'll find it much more intersting (sorry if my English's bad....)

i think first u need add a voice command... coz it doesnt read d name itself as oder nokia phones havin dis feature do....so first add a voice command : menu>contacts>select a contact>options>edit contact> voice command> add .... n now wen d caller calls.....u'll hear ur own recorded voice.... dats all i know.....hope it helps.....tc..

Many are complaining 'bout its cam. Well, all you need are some set-ups depending upon the place where you're taking pix. If it's quite dim, open its light, increase brightness, night mode on, and use either fluorescent or incandescent light not auto, daylight, etc. Also, for you to take finer/better pix, don't remove your finger right away once you press ok/shot button. All you have to do is press hold it until "saving" appears on screen. Consider this suggestion because G705 cam has low sensitivity and not a cybershot phone like C and K series....

Many are saying that G705 can only produce bad quality pictures, blurred pix. Guyz, there is a good slolution to this problem. When you're about to take a picture, use the designated button, then press hold it until "saving" pops up. Try it and you won't regret buying this phone when it comes to quality pictures.

i got this phone after owning a few different phones, didnt want the iphone or a blackberry. So i purchased the G705 for about $200. I love this phone more & more everyday. I had to write a review about it because even after dropping it into the toilet about 4 days ago, it WORKS! I have a 1GB m card in it, and it takes video for over 3 mins, and over 300+ photos. It has a bright flash light. Also voice recorder, video messaging and plays mp3s. The only things i do not like about this phone are the buttons are slightly too small, also the confirmation to send texts. These are small issues compared to the advantages this phone provides...

Try 2 go to your file manager, click it and u will see different folder such as themes and etc.. Open the folder. If u have many downloaded themes,u will see those, from there u can now delete which ever u like.

I got this phone over 8 months now. Its a good phone so 2 speak wi-fi download is great. Less expectation on speaker, but if u put it in your headset difinetely owesome. Jus notice when i download or save music, etc.. In my memory, it will not respond. Rather abort the memory card then upgrade in the setting menu.

U just need to turn on your wi-fi(on your phone) then choose your wireless connection and connect. When the phone trying to connecting,it will automatically ask for the password.Type in the password and start surfing will your phone.

APPLICATION I am a user of the Sony Ericsson G705, i Bought it 5 months ago, but i had noticed that some other built-in phone application suddenly not functioning, such as calculator and Code memo, and the WalkmateTM. I really dont get the reason why it happen, i think it's becaeuse of the master reset? But I didnt even bother to click on in, there was a time that I had to use the calculator but suddenly it does not function. MEDIA The Video is nice but when I need to use it night, I really had a hard time to use it, even when I turned on the night mode. Its best to use it at daylight. MUSIC the sound is very clear when you plug-in your earphones, but when you unplug it, it becomes scattered(try to adjust it on the equalizer, it helps ;P) The video dj is a nice application, because when you need to make a Sound over Picture Project, you can use it immediately, but the only thing is that, its not that fast but its good. *Sometimes we just need to be contented on the phone itself, or we should just be observative and keen when we talk about the features of the phone, or what we can benefit from it depending on our demands. Thats all thank you folks..;P

this phone is not suitable for picture user(especially at nite)... pic at nite, make ur background lighting of the image look like a 'shinning' star. and im sure u'll need to capture a few times of the same image because of no auto focus(blur)...

practically battery needs to re-charge every night. it's running 4 a day with wi-fi (about 50MB), 1-2 hours of music/radio & 1-2 hours of calling. after all, 20% of battery is left.

This phone is really great. By default it's a solid, good phone with some little quirks. After a quick and easy firmware update with Sony Ericsson Update Service it all gets much better. Your phone gets faster, GPS gets better, in general, everything is perfect. GPS works fine (with and without connection), any app (including youtube) can work over WiFi, everything is just perfect! Now, if you're like me and you want a little more, you can do some hacks yourself aswell! With some little research it's easy to find how to enable chat-style message view and stuff like that on your phone! (se-nse.net is a good place to start!)

I am trying to use the wifi connection to access the internet..I was able to connect before even without load.. but i was surprise one time, because it showed that i am connected to wifi, sudddenly it stoppped me from browsing and gave me the error message that there's no enough prepaid balance to be able to browse. i am pretty sure that i am connected to wifi! is there a certain settings that i need to do so my load will not be affected?

Recently i just bought a G705 . I found out that the ringing sound quality is not that great..i adjusted the volume to the highest level but the ringing is not very loud ....compare to my previous S500i..clear n loud. Why?

hi hendy, what the hell is happening to your phone? my g705 is seven-month old, and it's never hanged and rebooted for itself even there is a memory card inserted. i think you're the only g705 user who's encountering that problem. where did you buy your phone and where is this made in? honestly, mine is made in china, and i have to admit that those phones made in china, but original,are also good. I just took back my phone yesterday 10th Oct 2009 in the afternoon, Sound very funny.. everytime i picked up my phone at your service centre, the phone seems ok for a while. but whenever i left ur service centre. the problem shows up again & again. you can watch video depending on the strenght of your wifi connection. Spending extra money using 3g is not enough to use youtube.....just try using wifi connexion at some malls and you can now watch videos on youtube. I ordered Sony Ericsson G705 at timtechs.com, got Chinese manual and other papers, the keypad is with Chinese signs, didn't get CD disk. I called them, but no way to help me. Just a play between a girl in USA (she answers from her apartment) and a guy in Hong Kong (name - Patrick). They would send me the CD and the manuals in English, but sorry, they don't have it on the stock. They won't replace me the cell phone with English keypad. I had to specify what keypad I want for USA market, otherwise they are sending Chinese one ?!?! I am a lucky guy, I could get Arabic one, even before English one. It looks for them more logically. They send their orders directly from Hong Kong, so you are risking some customs fees on the top that you already paid for the cell phone and the shipping. The worst scenario is a confiscated cell phone from US customs because FCC certification is missing. In that case everything is clear and simple; you lost all your money that you paid. If you want gambling spend your money for a trip to Las Vegas. You have more chance for a gain there; otherwise you will be ripped off in some way. They know how, guys from timtechs.com.

Hi Schuyler, Aside from the Walkman 3.0 and 4GB memory stick the W705 does not have A-GPS locator. But if you are into a phone that double as an mp3 player may I suggest that you test the sound quality of these 2 phones first before you take your pick.

I've got this phone for more than a week now (mine's the all black aka majestic black)it performed as well as expected. GPS and internet browsing works good here in Manila. WiFi is a godsend for browsing the internet for free. The camera is very good. My only gripe: speaker and headphone volume could've been more louder. My K750i is a couple of notch better when it comes to sound volume. Nevertheless G705 is a good phone for a its price.

be sure that you already received gprs settings from your provider.. then connect ur cp to pc (i used my usb) 1.then on the phone, go to connectivity>usb>usb network>usb network type>phone as modem>back>usb data accts>myGlobe INET 2.connectivity>mobile networks>gsm/3g networks>GSM and 3G 3.connectivity>internet settings>connect using myGlobe INET then check on your pc f the phone is already connected.. then try to open an internet browser.. and that's it... enjoy surfing.. hope i was able to help you...

One more thing about battery life: If you don't need to make video calls, set the phone with the GSM band only, forget the UMTS unless you log on the net or you make video calls. With the "GSM only" setting, the phone require less power to work, therefore the battery life is going to be extended. Then to save some more battery power, use the black and white screen for the main menu, because the bright colours will cost more power, since the processor has to work harder and the brighter is the screen, the more power is needed...

In the past three days I used the Mp3 player for about 145 minutes total, I used the phone for a few calls for a total of 53', the Wi-Fi for about 10' and I sent about 20 sms. I turned the phone off during the nights. At the end of the third day I still had some battery power, about 15%, so it was time to charge. That was my test, I usually fully charge the phone when I go to sleep, in order to have a full battery the following day and doesn't bother me using the charger every day ;-)

Amm... U can't zoom while in 3mp cause it's the max resolution of the picture. The phone has Digital zoom and that means that it crops the picture so it looks zoomed. So use the 3mp for taking the picture so u can after zoom it on ur phone.

The first G-705 I had, had a bad slide, but it seems now they fixed the problem, because on the new 705 I bought, the slide is as good as a Nokia slide. The battery isn't that bad, but you have to charge and discharge it a couple of weeks in order to see better performances. Beside, I have a spare battery, which is so slim that can I carry in my wallet. Reception is good, so far. The keys on the front panel are kind of small, but after a while you get used to the lay out. If you want a light and small phone, with a lot of features, this is the best buy.

u cant compare g705 with e66 n smsung d900 and anything kind of phone..coz sony ericsson isnt nokia n samsung. that a fact.a lot different between e66 n g7o5.. moving track feature is only at walkman phone only....G series isnt support this feature, because sony ericsson have strategy n tactic to sell it phone at market..one more thing sony wanna differenciate between G series W series n KnC series...each phone have it specialities..i like this phone Coz it have all internet function and easy to work with my laptop. like me moving track isnt a big prob for me.

I agree with you about the fact that the G705 primary feature isn't the media player, but come on, there are a lot of phones around, much older than the G705, like the Samsung D900 or the Nokia E66 that aren't walkman phones but have this simple feature of moving tracks within the playlist. I am not saying this is not a good phone because of the lack of this simple feature, actually I love it and I would buy it again, but I would like to have this feature of moving tracks around in the playlist into the next update of the software. It's just the way the software is made, it wouldn't require any hardware change. Another thing that is kind of annoying is the fact that I can't zoom with the camera if it is set on 3M pixel. That's weird.

we have the same problem... i've been calling globe since i bought this unit however until now i cannot use internet browser in this mobile.. the format they gave is not working i already tried it.. try to call them again and request a gprs setting. i think they dont have compatible setting for g705, what they will send is the nearest setting g700 i think so they cnt guarantee if it would work.. do you have globe line? or prepaid?

Thanks, I know that I can add music to the playlist, but I was trying to find a way to MOVE tracks in the paylist itself, once added. If I add a track, it goes to the bottom of the playlist, but it seem there is no way to move it to another position, unless I delete all the other tracks, which is kind of silly to me...

u must install g705 pc suite to using ur phone as modem...after u install it, a pc suite teach u how u wanna connect a phone via what, via usb cable, via blutooth, or via infrared..so u choose which one...like me i connect via blutooth..its very easy...juz on blutooth at ur laptop n on blutooth at g705...so it can connect automatically...the only thing u must install pc suite 1st....regardsssss

It seems that once the playlist has been created, there is no way to move the tracks in the playlist itself, while with any other phone I had, I could move tracks in the playlist. dear 'trust me' ive been using this phone too, and so far i havent yet to face any problems. its built in tight and the keypad works just fine. it has a few little kinky but then, nothing is perfect. for its price its really worth the money considering all the features. if you want something superb, why dont you just buy SE satio.. i mean, you cant expect to have the same luxury for only $559 right? stop being such an..

I had the phone for 3 weeks, and during these 3 weeks, it was in the service centre for 1 and 1/2 weeks! The phone�s built is sub par and it is very defective! The phone wobbles a lot when you are typing! Unlike the dummy one on display which is built solid. And it actually emits creaking and cracking sounds when typing as the plastic cover behind is not fitted neatly with the phone�s body! Navigation keys dont respond, or slow to respond when I depress it, making it a real FRUSTRATION. I send the phone in for repair after 7 days of use. Then 2 days after I got it back from the service centre, the screen went blank on me with lines running on the top. I asked for a full refund or exchange to another model. The service centre then went quiet without responding to my email. One week later, after I keep pounding them with emails the support service flattly rejected my request. They say that they can only give me another new G705. Oh my god! I dont want another problematic new phone! Since it IS THE SAME DEFECTIVE MODEL! But they gave me no other choice. I received the new replacement another week later as they say they dont have stock! Can you believe it??? I bought it for S$559 and I had to sell it at $370!!! After just over 1 month, I had lost so much! It goes to show the G705 has no market value, full of flaws and their service support is way below standard! I will never buy another Sony Ericsson product again. I have a much much better experience with Nokia Service Centre. From now on, all my phones will be Nokias or Samsungs. NEVER another SE phone again!

great phone apart from the camera, which is terrible, and the internet. i sat RIGHT next to my wireless modem and tried to browse with wifi, and waited 10 minutes for hotmail to load, and finally gave up. nothing loads w/ wifi.

Yes, you can use youtube with wifi, you can use every aplications with wifi but there is a bug: - First you have to create a "false" 3g profile with Apn xyxy or something and after you can connect with the wifi. It took long time to I figured it so keep in mind. I've upgrade dit from k750i (i had more mobiles like n82 samsung etc but i always got back to my k750i) The G705 is very good mobile, it has very good sound quality and design. It can be upgraded to W715 but the Application icon will be replaced by the Walkman icon, so if you like to use applications easly i don't recommend the upgrade. The G705 has the same walkman feature but without SenseMe and Shake Control. Recommended free gpa apps. -GPSED -Trekbuddy The camera has no autofocus so forget the macro fotos but it takes really nice shots.

this is the best phone i ever have. i used for 2months now and it stil woww. Its have a goodd prossecor. cause its never hangs,infact i use 8 Gb M2 card with 7,1Gb Loaded with more then 2000 songs, 432 videos, 200++ application and Games(some 3D), and a lot of my life pictures inside, plus document and it still work fine like use 1 Gb card. Try to upgrade your phone software and the media player wallpaper will change as your desktop wallpaper and it more stabil. GPS works fine and its forever use not like nokia that can only use for 3 months and you must pay for the used. Camera is fine, its just lack autofokus and makro mode, thing that i dont like is the camera flash is not brigth as w700i that use 2 flash.

Hmm..Just bought this phone last week, is about RM760. Is consider quite cheap for a phone with Wifi & GPS. Everything looks find from the beginning but after 3days of usage problems start to appear, like there is few times my phone is right beside my workstation but without anyone calling me (my phone do not even rang!) and I received msg from Maxis saying tat there are few miss call from who who..?? huh? then I tried to call back but failed, i cant even press the button...(=.=). Then..i switch off, take out my sim card, wipe it, put it back and switch on again.(thought is my sim card problem)But still cant make any calls...?? luckily I did not trade in my old phone,tried to use my old phone to make calls, no problem at all!!Tried the sim card back to G705 again then it is back to normal..WTF!!Cause thought of throw back the phone to the dealer. Now, still cant find out what makes it cant call out,but everything work smooth already... Battery arr..hmm...previously im using GSM&3G network and battery run out very fast, can only last for 1 day+.But recently i change to GSM network, it can last for 3days+.. thats all i can share, cause the phone is still very new.

I just got this phone 3 days ago, its working as good as expected. It is worth to buy this phone for someone whom needs average WIFI and GPS. WIFI with almost full featured internet browser, able to surf a webpage properly. But its kind of slow on the phone browser. But it works well with OPERA MINI, it will smoothen the browsing experience. GPS works good. You can disable assisted GPS, so it will not cost extra $$ to your phone bill. But it will still need to access internet through WIFI or its own internet (which needs $) when using google maps or any other maps. I found a glitch. When i was playing music on the earphones, my music keeps automatically stop playing due to the front buttons randomly being pressed in my pocket. Which is irritating. Hope sony ericsson could do something about soon. Because when many buttons is pressed, the screen lights up, and stop your music while keypad locked. Its been 3 days since i got this phone and it started hanging and restart itself since day 2. Because of some unknown bugs in WIFI and multi-tasking. I use a lot wifi and multi-task a lot. Other than that, this phone is perfect for me.

This phone has the same build that of w705 right? But obviously they don't have the same screen sizes. I've seen both models and compared it. G705 has obviously smaller screen. Is it a typo error on gsmrena spec sheet, or sony ericsson is really marketing it with 2.4' inches? It's very misleading. I'm from the philippines. From the photos on gsmarena page, the screen is big but from what i've actually seen, it's not that big. It looked like a 2.2-inch dislay.

Yeah I use an unlocked version of the g705 in the USA. works perfect. Great phone, smooth OS, fast connectivity, decent camera, looks classy. Only downfall that it seems fragile. Highly recommend a LCD protector or a good case.

I own this phone for about 2 months.. 1st, sound quality is quite nice.. Though its kinda loud but it doesnt affect the sound quality of it..(You'll get shocked once you worn handsfree to listen song in megabass) 2nd, the quality of camera is very clear except in the dark, although it's just 3.15mp.. guess flash would be better than lights.. 3rd, wifi connection is very fast!!(watch youtube nvr stuck bfore) 4th, the keypads are very smooth to press with.. 5th, the outfit designs of the phone is perfect, for me :) It's a slim and cool handset.. The only thing i dont really happy with it is the phone kinda laggy.. But it would be ok if you dont click too fast^^ hope my oppinions helps..

Plus thinking of buying it as a replacement to Sony embarrassment of the z525 &z520..went thru twelve of those phones between my line and a second line on the account. the Z 520, 525 and any other Z phone are worthless. do not spend your money on any of sony's Z phones. iv had this phone for about... 2 weeks im in love with it. im a full time student and its handy, the light sensor does not burn my eyes out,when i look at the screen in the morinig for my alarm like my previous phone s500i, the camrea is quiet good as well. the music is pretty good. the bass on the phone is also very very nice just the rite amount of bass not to soft not to loud. all in all this is a good phone! id recommend it if you want something sleek and sexy, easy to work with. though its a bit laggy but i just move very very fast.

I am a businessman who is alsways on the move. All I need is a phone that's tough, easy to use, flexible, slim and light (I carry two phones) I own the G705 for about a month now as replacement for my horrible C902. The G705 is much better than the C902 in every department, even it's 3.2mp camera is clearer and better than the so-called 5.0mp found in the C902. The key pad is great for typing sms, even when I was driving (kids, don't do this at home). The piano black around the big screen surface is cool and the kind-of rubberized surface at the back is great for occasional rough use. The wi-fi + mobile gmail(downloadable)is fanstatic tool to get connected with the rest of the world. There are only two things I wish it could have been improved or made. Firstly, the center of the nevigating key, which is the same height level as the direction pad, making it difficult to press. Second, I wish it has a dual-sim version. Otherwise, it will be the perfect phone for me!

guys!!!this is one of the best phones i ever used, how? i'll tell u!!well for the last three month ive beeen lookin for a phone cuz i killed my p990i(was nice phone by the way)so i bought nokia's 5800 and its not that cool the camera is bad it cant stop hanging all the time and the killing problem so i got rid of it i bought an n85 and it was a catastrophic phone the buttons needs a wrestler to press its like doing push ups with ur finger not a good music phone the sound is to low in the headphones kind of slide mechanism sucks its not easy to open, then i went to samsung f480 touch its a cool phone but you get tired of seeing the same menu over and over again (no themes) plus there is no wifi the music is not good neither, then my last hope was to flip to sony ericsson well thumbs up for this phone its really great my be camera is a drawback but still its way better than 5800, nice animations, wifi and on top of that its easy to use maybe buttons are tricky sometimes but i love it and it went easy on my wallet too not like n85 or samsung, so if ur thinking of buying this phone dont think twice.

Yea right G is for Generation Web. This line of phones are mobile web or web enabled phones. I love this phone even it doesn't have OS, I can still download application. It can still support like those that I needed and wanted like the Fring for instance. Well thanks for the JAVA it helps. I maximize the feature of it and I will goin to expand the memory until 4 Gig so that I can atleast download a movie or series from YouTube.

Well u probably downloaded Fring that is text only version. Voice call is not supported for that. The same to me that the only Fring that I used on my G705. It's just okay actually though there are times u really need to talk to express everything unlike text way only.

I had been using this phone for about 2 months. It never hang or jam before. I love this phone cos the price is reasonable and all the functions in this phone are moderate. Not to the extend of perfect but all are usable and can work well. It is very user-friendly. Easy to navigate. Since it's a G series, it focuses on web as G stands for "Generation Web" if i am not mistaken. But the only bad thing about this phone is - it doesnt have auto-focus in the camera. Taking picture during daytime is great but not at night. The sound is great. Walkman is great, too. The best part for me is - the outlook. It looks classy and gorgeous, aint it? :P Hope my comment helps.

What I mean is that when you take pics @ night w/no lights at all, the photo light can't support the outcome of the pics. Unlike f you used flash even with no lights @ all, u get better result. Since I love this phone mostly the web capabalities of it I just wait or maybe buy an accesories like flash to b attached on my phone. We just don't know maybe their might b software update for the camera feature. P.S.: I'm actually using my G705 to go to this site and replying for this message.

I just bought this unit last March 20 I supposedly buy G900 but the store runs out of stock so I decided to go w/G705 since it fits to my budget also. I like it actually. The features are all current but the only thing is I can't take pictures at nights. U can't really see anything if u do pic on it even if u "photo fix" it. I know that I'm not looking for features like the Cybershot but I'm not complaining even it doesn't have autofocus. Just this minor dissapointment only that instead of photo light it should be atleast flash to have atleast a nice result.

It's a good phone and it's cheap here. It cost about $498.00 (in brunei) and though the MP is only 3.15, it sure beats nokia's MP. Resolution not so good. This phone is superb and it's worth every cents rather than nokia. I have N81 and it sucks so bad. It turns off automatically. And it's not 3.5g and worse of all the megpix is only 2MP. I had w910i before. Though it's 2MP but the quality of the pic is superb. Trust me.. this fon is the BEST!

I've been using SE frm last 4 yrs recently i bought nokia n78 but trust me nokia's N series is the worst u can get for ur money. it hangs,has HW prblms and on top of it nokia service sucks big time. now i've switched to this 1 this is best deal for ur money. go for it. The phone wobbles a lot when you are typing! Unlike the dummy one on display which is built solid. And it actually emits creaking and cracking sounds when typing as the plastic cover behind is not fitted neatly with the phone's body! Navigation keys dont respond, or slow to respond when I depress it, making it a real FRUSTRATION. I send the phone in for repair after 7 days of use. Then 2 days after I got it back from the service centre, the screen went blank on me with lines running on the top. I asked for a full refund or exchange to another model. The service centre then went quiet without responding to my email. One week later, after I keep pounding them with emails the support service flattly rejected my request. They say that they can only give me another new G705. Oh my god! I dont want another problematic new phone! Since it IS THE SAME DEFECTIVE MODEL! But they gave me no other choice. I received the new replacement another week later as they say they dont have stock! Can you believe it??? I bought it for S$559 and I had to sell it at $370!!! After just over 1 month, I had lost so much! It goes to show the G705 has no market value, full of flaws and their service support is way below standard! I will never buy another Sony Ericsson product again. I have a much much better experience with Nokia Service Centre. From now on, all my phones will be Nokias or Samsungs. NEVER another SE phone again!

just bought one of these from timtechs.com came from a small island in the east and shipped real fast. The phone is great on the ATT network. I changed the internet settings to work and the wifi is a real nice feature. Call quality is super and camera is a little better than the one on my w760a with the flash. screen is bright and big and battery life decent when you turn the screen brightness down a bit. love the step counter program that can run on the desktop. Sound is loud and clear from phone and bluetooth even being 30 ft away. gps with google maps is great. The only thing is wish it supported is the skyfire web browser because a lot of sites use flash and without skyfire flash is useless.

Battery Life: Stand-by Up to 400 h Talk time Up to 10 h. But i found stand-by time only up to 48h and talk time only up to 2h. By the way, video pixel so bad, most worst than W580 and W850. Internet connection so slow, power on take more time, sometime hang. This G705 really worst, I'm so regret and disappointed to brought this handphone.

Just got this phone, is no bad, is one of the best so far. I know people had complained about the quality of the slider, i guess none of you had a Nokia 5300 that looks like Fisher Price made it. G705 is pretty good, but i do agree with some of you, the camera stinks!! i had a K850i before this one , so it really bothers me not having the picture quality. I own the pretty G705 almost three months now and I want to share my experiences to others: Pros: - Solidly manufatured, precious finish - pretty design - Pretty good display - Slide-Mechanism reliable and stable - Extended Bluetooth (multiple simultaneous connections possible) - Beautiful view of newsfeeds Cons: - Incomplete and incorrect instructions - Support useless and incompetent - Uncontrolled Internet-DialUpl/Data connection - Sync Function / ActiveSycn does not work - Faulty telephone conference function - Poor voice quality - Integrated Speaker is bad (hands-free talking impossible) - Silver / lacquer buttons to scroll from - Keyboards notchy, poor ergonomics - No full support for handsfree (SE HCB 150) - Slow processor, navigation notchy - System crashes and slow reboot - cumbersomely switch to Flight Mode - Docking station / charger connection (CDS-75) notchy/ refractory - Power settings can not adapted - Wayfinder navigation software is only 30 days trial - Useless camera (no flash, miserable quality recording) - Moderate browser - Slow and unreliable automatic screen-tilting - Integrated media support insufficient To make it short, I can recommend this phone anyone. Neither private users, yet professional. By looking pitted controls (paint peeling from), the G705 does not aesthetic requirements. Due to faulty communication functions (no telephone conference, no ActiveSync), it is unsuitable for business use. In detail: Given the positive attributes are self explanatory, I will not dwell on it received. Some of the listed negative qualities but need further explanation. The flight mode is inaccessible because it can only be achieved when the phone restarts. Anyone who flies a lot, the phone alone, do not like. The guide beggars all description. Although it is in all languages, but who needs it anyway? More important is the fact that neither the icons displayed in the phone explained, yet this self-explanatory. One can only guess, and often is confused, not just whether something is running that you do not want. Basic features are only superficially described, if you encounter serious problems, can be found in the manual does not help. The Sony Ericsson support is there but not much better. At 5 subscribed feeds were with me within two months, at least about 300 euros! Also on the topic news feeds fits is not customizable power saving setting. The screen darkens after 20 seconds and then it is to read over, unless you press a button to set the phone to resuscitate. Active Sync was on my G705 not get the service record. I previously used the Sony Ericsson P1i, which is after initial software update with the same settings as in the G705 now easily worked. Again, no help from Sony Ericsson support. And after three months still no software update that some of the "teething problems" would eliminate. The function of telephone conferences to lead will be offered, but it does not. It can simultaneously select different Gesp�rchspartner, but unfortunately, the Verbingungspartner then not to attend a conference together. I just bought this phone and I find it very laggy and slow response. The contacts list take 5 seconds to open! I also find the build quality poor and the slide wobbles.

Overall a good phone. if want to use msn, try using ebuddy via wifi. no prob for me so far. can watch youtube via wifi too, suprisingly, download speed quite fast. hope its useful. ;P

I just got this phone for 3 days. The simple and elegant design caught my eyes. It's camera isnt as good as w800i. Walkman - quite good.The best part of this phone - the wifi. The web is easy to navigate. Love it. I had been using w800i for 3 years and I hardly use the walkman and camera. This phone is for those who loves to surf. If you're looking for a good cam and good quality of sound (ringtone), dont go for this phone. Hope my comment helps.

well I dunno about other ppl, but I got a bad experience with G900. In fact I sold that phone and got G705 instead. My G900 was laggy, froze a lot, and the screen's color somehow turned bad. Guess i got one of those faulty. Anyway, Yes the G705 has built-in GPS receiver and Yes the Wi-fi speed is quite fast in fact, i didn't notice any difference compared with using G900's wi-fi. overall this phone is what u'd expect from a web capable phone with no OS. Great mobile browsing experience with it. don't mind the camera b'coz it's not intended to excel in that area.

A competent range of features make this device appealing were it not for its very high price tag which puts it within �70-80 of the C905 which has all the features of the G705 plus a superior camera module. Unless the price of this device goes down it is difficult to envisage it selling in large numbers.

I like the phone (construction, features, menu, etc) but the battery struggles. With moderate use so far and it lasts about two days. Talk time with 3g is closer to two hours than the specified 10.

You need to setup up normal data accounts from your operator first,then in the settings select allow local connection and when you are connected to wifi the phone will use the wifi connection instead of your operator settings.

I bought the G705 and am loving it. I do have a problem getting it to stream but. Can access the net fine, stream youtube, but playback of music/streaming fails. Does anybody have an idea why? What sort of hidden settings are there? Many thanks

GPS does not require EDGE or 3G. It works on its own. Google map (and all online features) works on Wifi. I bought it in HK and had problem with youtube as well. Turns out that I have to setup the streaming setting to use Wifi and youtube is working now. Downloaded Opera mini and the browsing is even faster. Although it is not as integrated as the built-in netfront browser.

To nicky! Im using the home router, too (got a couple of laptops) and the download speed via WiFi on the G705 is awesome! Everything works perfect but i got 3 complains: 1-The WiFi rapidly disconnects and it is really annoying! 2-The camera is kinda... useless duo to the lack of AF (i think) 3-When closed - the top part of the phone does shifts a bit. Overall - its nice! Its pretty cheat, too + its a reat pleasure to surf the net on it!!!!

Hi, The battery life depends on the user. If you are a techie in music, video and surfing, then you may have to charge everyday. If you just use your phone for calling, it can last you for about 3 days before you need charging again. The wi-fi connection is pretty easy and fast. If you are a music lover, you may consider buying W705 if not, then this phone is pretty good.
