Trust me, mate! This phone can vibrate.. wear your trousers loose enough and the zipper with vibrate with the phone! I'm not kidding! I'm still using this fone (it'll 4 yrs in 2weeks time)..Still vibrates pretty hard!

why not even one clamshell model never has autofocus- that is a big mistake - AUTOFOCUS MUST BE IN ALL SONYERICSSON MODELS - then SE will be no.1-- a friendly advice for SE managment - in a body of W710 put camera 3.2mpx-autofocus-xenon flash- led light -wlan - and you get the best phone in the world - and why volume key is no longer shortcut for letters when typing sms

I've had this phone for over three years now. It still works like it's brand new -battery and everything. This cannot be said for a lot of phones these days. So all is good, exept the rubbery thing on the cover has worn out some time ago, but after I replaced it with black paint, the whole thing actually looks cooler!

This phone rocks!! its been with me for a year or more, for ones who are like jogging or running, it fits them,but the memory isnt really that high, and the sound isnt high neither but its great, small and good looking, I recommend it for you.. :D

Had this phone for exactly 2 years. 1,5 weeks after the official warranty ended, the phone started to malfunction - half the keys didn't work. Brought it to the service and got an answer that there's a problem with the motherboard of the phone and it's beyond repairs. The phone basically works, but some number keys and Back key don't work, which makes the use of the phone more than uncomfortable. Try to enter your SIM-cards PIN-code when numbers 1 and 7 don't work and your PIN-code has both numbers. Don't wanto to walk around with a phone with an unlocked SIM-card either. During the time when I had the phone, it was in warranty repairs for several times for two reasons: the phone switched itself off when it was flapped together and in the second year of usage, the rubber part peeled off. Eventually both problems were solved. I put a small piece of paper between the battery and phone to fix it in one position. After that the switching off problem didn't occur anymore. Before I thought of that solution, they updated the phone's software several times in the warranty service. Without any result. The rubber part was replaced in warranty service and the replacement seems a lot harder and more durable. Using the buttons on the rubber part is also more comfortable, because it doesn't need to be pushed as hard as before. My conclusion after using it for two years - great phone but with serious flaws. I really enjoyied the Walkman function (you won't find any better music player in any other phone than SE's W-series) and the menus-functions. But I'm really dissappointed in SE because of this phone failure. By the way, the phone still looks as good as new - no scratches, no paint worn off etc. Hasn't fallen down or anything. Neither has it been exposed to water or moisture of any ways. So I really don't see my fault in the failure of the motherboard. Don't know if I dare to buy another SonyEricsson phone anymore, since this one was quite expensive and I was hoping it will last for years...

I've had this mobile for over 2 years now and my rubber is still on, it must be very diffrent from phone to phone (given a thought of how I take care of it ;o)) Left it outside in the grass for two weeks (in rain) and it still work! Love way you can change songs without even open the phone. Amazing phone!!!

No. the motion sensor is actually a step counter. There is an app in the phone to count steps or km of jogging. You attach the phone to your arm with a velcro band included. Mine still has the rubber, no problem. since 2 years. The only problem, I had to go under warranty, the phone would turn off any time just by small impacts, like closing the lid. They replaced the unit and was fine since then.

that auto-off is a problem in the desingn of this phone. the reason is that when you open the flap , the shock removes the battery from it's possition.So paste a piece of paper or somthing on the under part of the battery cover.this is the only solution.

I've been using this HP for 2 years and i just love it especially the Walkman function. Unfortunately when i purchased it initially, i had some problem with the phone keep hanging and auto-off. So i sent to ICU after 6 months, diagnosed faulty manufaturing battery. I guess i got the default set. Lucky they change it for free and no more problems eversince. But dont buy from One U (upstairs or downstairs and its chain company, because the sales person gave me fake SE headset! And until today i'm still wondering what else i got short-changed...traumatic) Sad story aside, a year later, the rubber side began to peel off. So replace the front housing for RM88 and then i bought a soft white rubbery protective casing for my phone to prolong the expensive housing. Overall i like the phone and it's sufficient for me

Hi my friend , i used this phone for 3 months and i have no problem with it ,the rubber didn't come out until now, and you must know it will not out alone for it doesn't play video in fullscreen but there is a program called videomaniac plays video in fullscreen mode landscape and portrait and i think it doesn't have answer machine i advice to get this mobile it's a very good mobile camera is very good in sunlight sound is good not very much loud i have 2 giga m2 and it works well without any slow down if you want more info ask more

The phone shuts off/restart by itself due to a loose connection between the battery and terminal. I stuck a little piece of paper behind the battery to push it more snugly against the battery terminal. Works perfectly. I have had the phone for almost 2 years now, could not be more satisfied!

I have it, and I think it's great! Sound quality is excellent. Features are really good. Operating system is the same type as W880/W610/W580. As long as you don't mind the main display being a little small (1.9 inches, but still more than W350/W380 for example) it's brilliant. Phone is really easy to hold and fits comfortably in hand. EDGE is really cool/fast if your network supports it. Works with HGE-100 GPS Receiver and the latest Google Maps. Supports streaming video, RSS feeds and Email. TrackID, pedometer, Opera mini, Bluetooth with A2DP...the list goes on! Good battery life too. Of course, the camera is fine and there is a camera key unlike some recent SE phones. Finally I'd like to say the black and orange external display is excellent and you can easily see it in even the brightest sunshine. Makes it easy to control the radio/music player when the phone is closed. The only slight flaw with this phone is the video player- it can't do full screen videos. That's a bit of a shame, but apart from that I love this phone, one of SE's best.

if you press the volume buttons before you open the flip then this will end the call, as it's a way to send a busy tone without opening the flip. make sure you're not doing that.

Nice phone, first SE phone I have bought. I enjoy copy/paste and the ability to minimise applications. The rubber peeled off this sporty phone after 2 months... If I had touse this phone for sporting purposes (running and listening to music) the rubber would have lasted a week. Pity the service provider will not fix the body. Last SE I'll purchase.

I'm really satisfied with the phone, especially am amused by the fitness features (step counter and training mode which allows me to monitor jogging distance, time, calories, running speed etc). The phone's rubber came off about a year later, also had some half-loose parts on the inside of clap. Sent it to work under guarantee but they returned it by saying that the phone have had some moisture and therefore they ended the warranty so no repair on free, also that the phone wont last long due moisture. I argued a week but no use. This is my worst (and also only bad) experience with this phone. So I glued everything myself. The very same day the phone fell into the toilet can under water:D Lift it quickly out, switched off and so far it works well. But my friends don't want to touch it anymore - which is ok by me:) Anyway, I really plan to buy the next phone same model though the camera is really shitty compared to Nokia phones but for the pictures I prefer using real camera - I have Pentax for that so no complain. That's how much I like it. And oh, the sound quality of music on speaker is the best I've ever heard from the phone!

Exactly. The grey rubber is just nothing.After 2 months of using, it just pulled out. This is a "sport model". And the guarantee service here in Armenia refuces to repair/change the "body" of the phone, concidering that as a "mechanical injury" ;)

I have had this phone for almost a year and it is a perfect phone! There are people who complain about peeling off from the cover. I have not experienced such a thing. Mayble other people tamper a lot with their phones and hence this problem. The battery life is okay, about 5 to 6 days with an average use, the speakerphone is not that loud but enough

hi all, my wife got one of these more than a year ago and no major issues. Until about a month ago - when a call comes in and you open up, no audio via normal telephone speaker set-up (only if diverted to loudspeaker). Similar thing if she calls - you can see connection to the caller, but no audio (again, unless going to loudspeaker route). Got a exchange phone via Vodacom here in South Africa, but then same problem after a few good calls... Anyone had the same problem?

Peeling of rubber strap is covered under warranty. But in order to get the new rubber strap under warranty , you have to hand over them the damaged strap.

I have this phone since the last 9 months and these are the things I like to say about it: The Good things- The design is very nice. Everyone who saw the phone agrees with me on this. The external screen is really large and useful. The alpha-numeric keypad is really large and very easy to use. The display is very crisp and bright. Sound quality through headset is excellent. External music controls are very useful. Fitness app is a nice feature. Ability to minimize java apps. Also capable of running more than one java apps at once and can easily switch between them using the Activity menu. Decent browser for a non-smartphone. Track ID feature is fantastic. Now the Bad things- The external rubber peels!!! The centre selection key on the D-pad is impossible to use without hitting other keys. Also the chrome on the D-pad wears off. No zooming of images and fullscreen view in file manager! No fullscreen landscape more in video player! Phone switches off for no reason. Also the light switches while using the phone for no reason. Camera images not upto the mark. Disgusting quality of recorded video. Loudspeaker not loud enough (for music and for ringtones). Phone memory only 17mb. Cannot playback files with .aac extension (works flawlessly in Nokias). Also .rm files don't appear in Walkman player. Fast post collects all the dust in the world and the headset and charger does not work reliably. Battery life not impressive, especially with heavy use of gprs/edge. Phone takes ages to start and become fully functional. FM radio not sensitive enough to work indoors.

dis is a useless phone. everything went wrong. as for most users the flap gets very loose and wen u xceed the limit its beyond repairing. utterly useless. the screen is rubbish. i could have like with the poor resolution and less colors but i cant use this with NO COLORS on the skreen. its completely blank. da hedset is rubbish. connectors went lose after some time. oh you know wat!!!!! da bloody bit of rubber starts peeling off. Been using this phone for over a year. Good phone, very user-friendly with great button feel and usage. Droped hard onto concrete a few times and still working good. Only problem for me.. Grey Rubber at the side started coming off which made the phone ugly. Had to superglue it back on.

in order for it to have true zoom not digital zoom, the lense would have to come out of the freaken camera ya putz! I cant think of one camera that has that.

The phone won't zoom if you have the camera set at 2mp. Is that the problem? On a side note anybody who thinks this is a good phone has either never owned a phone before or is out of their mind.

I had the same problems with the switching off flaw. Went to the service twice. The first time it was ther for three weeks and the only thing the eventually did (stood on the service report) was cleaning the battery's connections LOL. The second time they updated the firmware and software. It's been 1,5 months and so far the problem hasn't occured again. I've heard about the rubber parts problem and that's why I'm using my phone carefully. Altogether a good phone - not very popular, so that every other guy walking up the street doesn't have it. The headphones really suck, that's why I bought HPM-70 upper part of the hands-free. With those the sound is really-really great. Don't want to see no Creative Zen nor SanDisk Sansas anymore with their crappy sound.

I used this fone for 7mnths and for me the following were THE GOOD: 1. Excellent sound quality. 2. Mega bass is just amazing. 3. Clear voice reception. 4. Easy functionality. 5. good battery life. 6. Luxurious keypad,u will deliberately make typo mistakes just to enjoy the keypad for some more time. Sony ericcson ROCKS in this area. 7. Big screen than expected. 8. Rubber provides better grip, i liked that ,it doesnt slip away. THE BAD: 1. the voice reception is clear but not loud enough even in highest level. I had to stick it into my ears hard on road. 2. weak clamshell. 3. Rubber comes off..dont worry 'glue it' ;-p ,i did the same. 4. Pictures are not to the level of 2MP. THE UGLY : 1. My display just goes blank sometimes even while i m using it. I had it serviced but the problem never ceased(Cant generalize it though..may be the problem with the hardware of my piece) 2. I lost my mobile...someone stole it!!!

It's an awesome phone with awesome features. It's also great that one can multitask with it-have diff applications running at the same time. However, i have owned two of these (one for a week only) and they both came with manufacturing faults. The first kept on erasing the short cut i had programmed in. The second kept on switching off & even continued to do so after sending it in for repairs. About 5 months after getting the phone the outer rubber that surrounds the screen simply came off. It would be an excellent phone if SE could only sort out it's programming and design faults.

Yes, it is possible to use the phone as a portable pendrive, since it supports mass storage, Windows will see it just as another pendrive. Overall, the phone is quite nice, my only complaints are that the rubber material used on the front cover, is prone to tear apart, i had to glue it back a few times and is deteriorating, i think that SE should have done a better work with that part. Other than that, the phone performs pretty well and gives the user plenty of options in almost every aspect.

AWESOME PHONE!!!! ya after sometime the rubber might come off .. has NO malfunctions ive had it for more than a year and the rumors about it are wrong it works perfectly fine instead more than fine... makes perfect videos, 2MP camera result is awesome... it's BATTERY life is awesome!!! ive got a huge collection of songs, pictures, videos on it, FM reception is exceptional... it's worth buying has all the features anyone would look for in a cellphone all other cellphones are always missing some or other feature but this one will not let you down but ya it's small if u dont like small cellphones then well thats a different story i like the arm/wrist band that comes with it plus audio output wire that i hook up with my sony deck, its a full package! including the headphones ofcourse ... one thing i would although advice is that if ure really into bass and powerful music then get HPM-75 headphones would do even though the ones that come with w710i are excellent but HPM-75 are powerful!!!

I have this phone for a month now. There are some slight peeling in the bottom part of the rubber but nothin serious. I like this phone, it performs well but not as quick as my previous W810. I upgraded to the latest firmware and I have yet to encounter any major problems. The video player is good, it can play QVGA resolution mp4 @ 24 fps. I tried it by converting youtube videos @ vixy.net, it works fine in W710. That's amazing coz the same video files doesn't work in 6233. It can also play 6233 videos recorded @ CIF resolution. It doesn't play VGA though and can't play in fullscreen landscape mode like W610.

Its good for its sound and mega bass is good only with head phones.. Rubber peels off... front display went haywires in6 months and set right when mother board replaced :~(. doesnot play AAC.. reminders and notes alerts are factory set only and no liberty to customize. For that price it is better to avoid this fone and go for better model.

I so agree with all the comments I have read so far. The rubber of my phone came off a month after I bought it. What made it worst is that everytime I go to a Sony Ericsson shop the only thing that they can tell me is that they're still waiting for a replacement to be delivered. I have my phone with me for about 11 months now and they still cant fix it. Im so getting rid of this next year.

I bought it because of it's flip and it's music. love the design.. although not the best design. but after 2 months I do disappointed. but so many problem since I buy it. the rubber peals off after a month, software crash. the phone freeze after a month with the famous white screen. turn off by itself... 3 times service at SE.. once they change for new device.. but it getting worse. freezing problem every time the battery getting hot.it's bad. I would change the phone today.

In reply to the last person's question... I posted a few spots down complaining about how terrible this phone is. This particular problem happened to me as well but I didn't list this problem for one reason. I bought the w710c the very first week it launched and was using China Unicom. This problem only happened to me for the first week or two and never occurred again. I thought it was a problem that was addressed and fixed... apparently not. One more reason why this phone sucks.

Hi, this is my phone since May 2007 and I love it! It is a cool phone for an outdoor going person like me. The MP3 is cool and I fell the phone accidentally 3times and is very durable and working. That is what I like most in SE phones! The battery lasted longer than the other SE phones I have.

This mobile works very well with no problems. Battery life will depend if you fully charge it the first time before use!Videos can be misty but might due to lens being dusty. PC does not allow SE data for unknown reason. Best unbreakable mobile is the Nokia 6250. Wish someone would make a new version

Buyer beware, this is the worst electronic device I have ever owned. Here are the big issues. The rubber peals off in just a few weeks. It claims to be able to play AAC. What you don't realize is it is not capable of playing AAC in track order so no listening to albums as intended without creating a custom play list for each. The supplied clip has detached itself from my belt several times. The paint comes off easily. The phone now turns off automatically if you shut the clam shell to hard. I got the famous white screen of death within the first month of owning it. Bluetooth connectivity seems to be inconsistent.

This phone is fantastic.I got it about 4 months back, the only problem there is , is, the original rubber casing started getting damaged in about a couple of months and peeled of a fortnight back, but SE replaces the same with a better quality front casing for free. So its cool again. I have heard several people saying that the earphone jack experiences defectiveness after sometime, but I have not had that problem yet. gotta see. Ciao

This is the most disappointing phone from ericsson since the r600. Just barely 6 months into using it (take note, not even subjecting it to the treatment by the female tennis player on its commercial), the rubber comes off. i also decided to use the fitness function by using the clip-lo and behold, the paint starts chipping off within a week! Lousy build quality! if it not for the fact that it can play wav files apart from mp3 and aac, i would've ditched this phone a long time ago!!!!

to vG4@ go to the camera, press "more", go to "picture quality" and change to "fine" and the camera quality is much better as for the rubber problem if you dont put your mob in a case I would suggest it. you may also need new headphones I have this phone and it's great :)

To ANAS; The phone is a walkman phone and it will be a bit softer than the non walkman Z610. But as you compare both of them the W710 will better sound clarity. Hey you should have bought the W610. It is louder. But the W710 aint bad.

Yes,it is bad because i have talk with the sony ericsson service center and they told me that it isnt in the warranty... So,if you want to buy that phone,buy a phone case to save the rubber. hi, i have had the phone now for almost six months, i have changed the rubber under the warranty. There also is problem with the bluetooth: it works fine wen data is being sent out, but wen i try to get any data via bluetooth, it gives me an error that the memory is full, wen its not. Also wen i play tennis via bluetooth the connection is lost after the 2nd set. The sound recorder dsnt work even after the change... can some one let me know if this is a sriuos problem, coz they have upgraded my software with a new handset.... but the problem still persists. To look your w710i as if its new again, I bought myself an external protective hard-plastic on it. that's why the rubber is still stick on it, also a black phone "sock", My comment with this is that, the external camera has no protection. also the earphone easily loose, the external display has no protection also (because I already removed the plastin on it)

TO SONYA: Charge the phone when switched off for 6-8 hours. Best is to charge during the night when u r asleep. For me it returned an healthy battery backup of 2 days.

AN IDEA TO FIX THE peeling off of the rubber I have an idea to fix the peeling of the rubber. 1) Laminate the outer part body of the phone. In this way the rubber nuisance will be controlled to a great extent. It worked for me. I hope all u people understand.... Now your W710 is the best phone. I know video is QCIF.But ignorable. Hey even some N series phone have Qcif video.

Mine almost exploded in my ear... it had a short circuit and it overheated (It wasn't the battery by the way)When I finished a call it just begun to smell like something burning and it came some smoke out of the back of phone. I turned it off and took it to the store. I got a new unit, same model. I like the phone and I hope it was just bad luck. It looks like Star Trek gear to me. I just love it and I don't have to take my delicate 80GB iPod to the gym with me every time.

So far it's a great toy. I've had it for 2 days now and love it. It works like a charm. Calls are clear and loud, even in noisy enviroments. The bluetooth connectivity works great and it saved me a lot of time transfering all my contacts from my Sony Ericsson P910. 2 Things I hate: THE CAMERA is a worthless piece of s h * t and I feel it's a rip off from SE: why did they lie to us??? It's just as bad as the P910 camera (VGA quality) even at its max resolution setting. The rubber finish because I know it's going to fall off and die soon. What the hell, no one lives forever right?

The only differences between N71 and SE W710 are: Video call and flash(in Nokia N71) If you want a music phone, fast user interface,good performing mobile go for SE W710. The N71 is bulky in size. But it is good in durability(I got this point from this website). Choice is up to you.

I have an idea to fix the peeling of the rubber. 1) Laminate the outer part body of the phone. In this way the rubber nuisance will be controlled to a great extent. It worked for me. I hope all u people understand.... Now your W710 is the best phone. I know video is QCIF.But ignorable. Hey even some N series phone have Qcif video.

It's an overall great phone but the rubber comes off. And to me it doesn't make any sense to get it replaced if it's only going to come off again. And trust me no amount of glue is going to keep it on.

Hello W810 is one of the phones with the loudest sound followed by W550i and W300i. But sound is a BIT less than expected. The SE people has confessed 2 reasons for the peeling of the rubber. 1) Rubber expands on heating. SO if you live in a hot country the problem occurs. But u can replace it for free as one has a 1 year warranty. 2) Constant opening and closing of the mobile.

Great music phone!! Just got this phone a few weeks ago, and it rocks! It looks a bit ugly mainly because of the white, and sometimes the buttons are hard to press due to their size, other than that the phone is great. Best feature is you can listen to the radio/mp3 player without earphones. It has an external speaker, so it basically acts as a stereo. Camera is decent quality, and has a lot of features, but no other phone out there can match this for music!

I've got this phone for about five months now and it's been great - I mean, till three days ago I had nothing to complain about it, everything works perfectly, it looks like new.. I really love it, there wastn't a moment to feel sorry for buying it - it's everything I wanted in a phone. And actually it's still perfect - the first and only problem (for the time being) occured last weekend when I had to turn it off for a couple of days. After getting back to civilization and turning it on, it stopped recording the calls - dialled, answered, missed - the call list just doesn't update anymore. I just got the latest version of the software and tried all possible ways I could find to fix it but it wouldn't work. Has anybody else had that problem? It seems to be quite rare cause Google finds almost no entries about it (and no answers at all) but anyway I was hoping there might be a solution other than taking the phone to the service. Yes the face rubber easily gets off! My phone is 4 months old but it looks ugly already because of the rubber. And I went to sony ericsson service center and they don't have a stock to replace the face rubber. :(

mica: the theme is incompatible for your phone. esato.com provides list of themes compatible with the phones designated to it. make sure the theme is compatible on your phone(example those themes for the W810 won't fit to the W710 because the platform is different even though they sport the same screen resolution) hope this helps

woot...i just bought this thing a week ago... and it waas excellent!!! beside the cheap prize it has nice feature and amazing music quality.... only one thing i'm not satisfied with is image viewer... i can't zoom any picture beside the picturee took by SE phone... though i only able to rotate it... and i have one problem, when i connect usb port to my computer and select 'file transfer'the icon won't show up.... and my w710i turned off and restarted somehow... but when i connect the cable while my w710 turned off... the icon show up and i'm able to transfer the data... but only the memory card icon show up, phone memory icon won't show up...

if your phone does not start, try going to your service provider and getting a newer SIM card. I know this sounds wierd, but I had this issue when I got my SE Z600. Luckily my wife's SIM was newer and when I tried that it worked, so I just went in and bought a new SIM and it worked great.

i got this phone since January 24th very good music and camera quality, the camera may look crap at night, thats until you turn on night mode by pressing the 3 key then it becomes reasonably good in day light 2mp is good sound quality is good altho usual SE earphones lack bass, thanks to HF with universal 3.5mm plug. phone takes more time than an average phone to start up, external display is funky, and for those who havent noticed, the color of it becomes a greenish hue from the orange when viewed in sunlight.call quality and talktime good phone lasts around 4 days normal use. overall a good phone, if styling slightly unusual(what da hell is with the antenna!?!?) external music keys are superb !

Well i have this phone and it delivers a battery life of 2 to 2and half days. Not bad for a music phone. But try W880i instead of this. It has 3G but no camera & FM Radio. W710i is a good choice although.

hi everyone, i have been using this phone since two months and it did a gr8 job but now the outer rubber cover comes off and that's something you cannot really imagine but believe me it happens and that's really really disappointing and annoying too and also it doesn't have a flash and also the quality of recorded videos is bad but it takes good photos in daylight.if all this flaws are looked upon carefully this would make it a gr8 phone

Good Phone. Have it since 4 months now. Very fast, never hangs. EDGE is good. Overall really good phone for the money and camera is also decent. Only problem is that the rubber outline around the front of the phone tends to get loose after a while even though i have barely used the walkman play buttons but if you happen to open the phone alot with one finger the rubber tends to come out and you have to stick it again. Sony should take care of this as its part of the build quality. Overall 8 on 10 for this phone.

Better buy Z710 and pourchase a 512 or 1 Gb card. We can;t change the orange display(Z710 comes with blue one) teja - remove the back cover, and just push the memory-card, it will pop out fereshte - tranfer .jar file to your fone (vai BT or cable) and then select the file on fone ans click "install".

chulbuli: the camera quality is standard only and isn't shake heads as it is a walkman phone. but i think you should know this. W710's platform can improve the camera performance as if other SEs since K800 does also. it's by installing a java application specific for handling camera capabilities i.e. increasing settings for manual operation(ISO,Whitebalance,shutter,aperture,nois­e reduction and more) as the W-series cybershots from sony does, another is the long-long issue of the video recording resolution: this is the reason i can think why SE don't improve so much that department as the phone is already capable of improving itself. keep an eye on those java software sites and you'll find later a camera application for java phones. this is a feature unique only to SE and later will make big leaps towards better functionality.

the phone looks are gr8, something thatprompted me to buy this phone along with the sound quality makes it a gr8 phone. I am very disappointed by the camera quality. I thought 2.0 megapixels meant pictures which when transferred on PC will look good & clear. The functions are really easy to use, and has great colour screen. i have had a nokia 6230i and was a bit worried bout changing but I did and wish i changed sooner. this fone has everything from a calculator..to snooze on the alarm...its definatly a great buy.. Hi megabass means a music preset that comes only with sony ericsson walkman phones It gives a great effect when you put on your ear phones. It doesn't match for all songs though...... But it's rocking!!!

Man, your hands must be really big... or small! I can open, close and press the buttons with only one hand. I'm glad the w710i isn't thin, Just can't seem to adjust to those slim devices, texting is too hard on those.

Pretty good phone. Feels a little heavier than the w300. I got this phone because of the 512mb stick and belt clip. I also got the 300 for my wife. Excellent sound. I have about 100 songs on it now, and could probably hold another 20 songs before upgrading to the 1gb stick. Headphones are a little funky, but allow you to use your own headphones anyway. Battery life is pretty good, similar to an Ipod. I recently took a plane trip, listened to the MP3 player for ~2 hours and played the games several times. Still had enough battery life to last until the next day. I also use this to synch with my Lotus Notes calendar and works pretty well. One thing I noticed was that this phone comes with USB cable and software to rip songs/synch with Notes. Other phones, you have to buy these separate. Overall this is a great phone, if you're looking for a music player and to add your Notes calendar.

I forgot to tell you something: When i get this phone it freezes A LOT since the first day!!(4 or 5 times a day), so i go to my phone company here in mexico, and after a week of fight with them, they change me the phone. My new w710 works great, i have it for almost 2 months and everything is fine. So, if your phone freezes change it NOW!!

HOPE I HELP YOU: For those who are undecided between w810 a w710 (Like I was), let me tell something: If you use a walkman a lot, and you use just a little the camera(like me) i recomend this phone. If you use the camera and dont use the walkman, get w810. W810: -Got Autofocus, flash, light (but brick design.. LOL). W710: -Better design, external Walkman Buttons. PLUS: I walk every night with my pregnant wife, so we can count the steps with the fitness aplication... that cool!! (I miss the light from my old w800i, but this phone dont freeze like the w800i) did).

hi sylvia. the z610i is a lovely mobile but it does scratch easy cause i always take care of mine but it still scratched after only 4 weeks, also if you are not looking at your phone when it rings you will miss who is calling, by the time you open it up you will not have enough time to see who it is before it goes to voicemail cause it only rings for 20 seconds before voicemail. the only difference with the w710i & z710i is the walkman & fitness applications & that you get a larger memory card in the w710i.

Bought this phone 3 days ago. Everything's great with it - a lot of functions, 512 MB memory card etc. It can also be used as a remote control for computers with Blutooth. The camera makes really good photos in daytime and with sufficient light. Night mode is not so good. The only weak thing on this phone is the battery. After the first 12 h charge (old-school Ni-MH habits, what can I say) the battery lasted less than 24h and I didn't even do much with it. Some people say it will be better after a few weeks of usage and 4-5 full chargings. I hope I don't have to be dissappointed in the Li-Pol battery, since so far I've seen videos of them exploding while charging :) Also, I miss thiss birthday reminder my Nokia had. But that's not much of a loss. I haven't tried the fitness apps and other functions yet, but I'm sure that they will be also good. Oh yeah, for the people who don't like the headphones, guess what - you can use your own ones - the headphone part can be removed from the hands free set. I'm definately staying with this phone, because I don't want to go back to Nokia 6100 which I had before :(

Pls help, I already have Nokia 3250 and want this phone! Is the speaker really good because 3250 has too much treble (very sharp) and if u increase the bass in 3rd party mp3 players it sounds like it's going to break, lots of cracks in RAP music with lots drum beats. yes its the same size & weight, the outside is just a little bit different in design but the buttons are the exact same. the only difference with the specs of the w710i & the z710i is that the w710i has a walkman & a fitness menu thats all!!!!!!!!!

i am always changing my phones to find 1 i like, in the last 8 weeks i have had w850i, z610i my husband has the z710i & i now have this the w710i, i am very pleased with this phone. good battery life 3-4 days, ringing tone is more than loud enough to hear, you can use your own mp3 tunes as ringing or message alerts, its works very quickly with a 1gb memory card, i love the little lock key on the out side that can be used when the phone is shut to prevent knocking the keys on, you can play the music & leave it playing even when using the other fuctions of phone even shutting the phone will not stop the music playing until you stop it by either going to walkman menu or pressing the outside key when shut, i am very pleased. i would love a sony ericsson phone with a colour outside screen on the flips & a better camera with flash & zoom but i guess we can't have everything!!!!!!!!!!

only thing you cant zoom in with the camera, gives you options on the quality picture, from VGA,1MP,2MP, video you can record more then 1minute, the speakers on the phone is loud, and he headset also pretty great, havent got any problems since i got it :)

Great phone, however there are these flaws: low speaker volume; powers up & down excrutiatingly slow; radio has a lot of static compared to W600i; no auto-focus in the camera; no flashlight. Apart from that, the phone is well-designed and has superb reception in most places. I think Sony should have implemented a fusion of W600i (Has the loudest speaker and best radio clarity/MP3) and w710i in one body. And, yes, you can set any MP3 song, regardless of its size as a ringtone.

i have this mobile for like 4 months and i should say that everything in this mobile is good and even best... but it has one problem and that's the CAMERA it doesn't have auto focus so pictures in close shots are blurred but in landscape shots it works pretty likeother auto focus phones. well the sound quality is very good like you see it's 72 channel polyphonic which is more than W810. It has a 512MB Memory and i bought it 398.53 $

I've had the w810i since it first came out and I haven't had a single problem with it. It never freezes on me and is actually the best phone I have ever owned. I'd recommend it (as I do every day to my customers) and wouldn't give it another thought.

W810i is a bad idea: Drops calls, freeze's up everyday at least 2 times, earpiece volume is very low but very clear, loudspeaker volume is sad and voice quality is very poor, persons voice is garbled. Walkman mp3's are VERY impressive thru the same loudspeaker. Songs are loud, clear and alive. I just dont understand why that same loudspeaker is LOUD when it comes to the walkman feature, but when its used to make a cellular call, the loudspeaker is worthless. Other than that, no BT file transfer limit, plays mp4's with ease, u can rewind / ff and do slow motion on mp4's. User interface is second best that i have seen, Nokia is best IMO, but it works.

to KIMZ: Asking other people's opinion will only cloud your thought. Before, I used to do that. But now, I decide on my own for I end up with a bad decision. What I do is, I print the summary features of the phones (you can see that in Sony Ericsson official website) i'm choosing from & compare each features. I concider 3 important things: what i NEED, WANT and ofcourse, what I can AFFORD. As for the W800, I used to own one and it's quite a good phone. I don't have complains, actually, I loved it. I just had to sold it because my cute 2-year old then smashed it 3x & it broke. Pretty tough phone though...LOL! Good luck on your hunting....

This phone is outstanding. It should deserve atleast 8.3(in gsmarena). It has superb sound clarity,better than 550i.Key is soft but appears stiff when you first use it. After some few weeks u wont recognise the stiffness.USB connections are great(works only when u install all the softwares provided in the original se CD).Brilliant se.Fittness is great. Perhaps the first phone with this option. cheaper than 810i and800i

i have bought this fone two weeks back.. i was initially verry upset over buyin this fone,,, becos i was disappointeed wid the sound output and the camera quality(in low light)....one more big back drop is tht its not openin in phone mode and doesn't detect my phone memory.. i cant forward the video playback...horizontal viewin is not possible but thn i came over tht feelin as this phone makes a statement... looks gud.. feels gud .. takes awesome pics in sunlight ... fitness application is gud .. keypad is amazing.. sms freaks wud simply love it... i'm really likin the external dedicated music buttons.... its a gud fone to have... but every fone has backdrops ....

I just got this phone about 2 weeks back.. so far it's been really reliable and houses all the features i wanted in a phone. There are a few little quirks that aren't too nice like no flash n you can only take pictures by opening up the flip so self portraits can't be taken properly and you can't off the shutter sound.. and a few lil stuff here n there but it's nothing one can't live with. :) Been changing phones for the past 5 years and the longest i've kept a phone is 6 months. But i think this time i've found a keeper. Thanks SE :)

Just bought this phone blindly, without having seen it, used it or even felt it. Its quite a good piece, it has all the features you would want ideally, only thing not so good about it is the built quality and the feel of the quality of the product plastic. It feels too light and too good to house so many features. Basically its a good affordable cell that embodies most of the functions one would want to have!

All SE phones have yet another great advantage: you can set any one of the MP3 songs downloaded to your phone as a true ringtone. And that's regardless of its size. Of course the default ringing is 30 secs but the key is: you needn't trim the MP3 to the minimum to set it as ringtone. Try that with Samsung or Nokia, it won'y work.

Dear ruizgar, if it is true that you are the creater of this fone you could of done much, much better. The camera could be like the w810 with Autofocus and flash and it could be like 2 pm not vga. The outer screen could have more than 2 colors. The screen could have much more pixels (more than 176x144). Last, the opening mechanism could nit be soooooo hard to use and poen.

I got this phone a week back, upgrade from my Samsung X600.. And I LOVE it!! I was also stuck between w810 and w710, but I decided on w710 finally. The volume on the phone is more than sufficient. music quality everybody would know about; its fantastic (sony walkman after all).. even radio reception is good. Camera is not that great though; w810 has a far better camera. I read somewhere that SE purposely removed Autofocus from the W710 and kept it in the w810, for some reason or the other.. the step count keeps counting too many steps, and also it counts steps while I'm on my bike; but then I guess the jerks are sensed by motion sensor as steps so no complaints. Distance is totally wrong, but then I haven't calibrated the stride length; so once I do that it should be fine. I think it looks simply gorgeous. I would definitely recommend this phone

I've gotten this fone for 2 weeks, so far the features are great but the talk time seems less impressive than advertised. There's something weird about the step counter & according to SE Hotline, it's supposed to count as u walk, but mine seems to jump 30-50 steps each time after a certain interval rather than gradually. Have called SE tech Hotline (which I was rather disappointed to realise their service attitude is less than satisfactory) but it's been almost 2 wks & they've yet to reply me.

If you think the phone is not good enough for your liking , don't get it. The design of phones is all subject to each and everyone's opinion. Personally I find this phone a stunning phone to begin with, the phone is featured packed similar with W810i and W850i but there is one feature that both mentioned phones does not have and that is the motion sensor for fitness . If you are the sort that does exercise , this phone is for you. As for the loudness of the speaker, it's loud enough for my liking. How loud do you want your phone to be? So for some of you guys, please go try out the phone , don't spread rubbish if you dont know anything about this phone.

The movie taken with this phone are small and choppy. Good for saying "I was THERE" but not fun to watch. the phone is branded both as an ericsson and a walkman. It's been reviewed for good sound and the external mp3 buttons on the front is nice.

Just gotton my W710i, this is one of the most beautiful clamshell phones created by SE. I loev it , keypad looks great and it's easy to navigate, sms ..etc No issue at all. The only thing that is bugging me is the workmanship of the phone, the back cover is hard to take out and put in. Other then that, this is a great phone especially for those who does exercises regularly.

your wrong sony admin the sony ericsson w710 has the A2DP profile it is automaty when you connect your stereo bluetooth. I got the nokia HS-12W: Wireless Stereo Headset and work fine when you playing your music but it doesn't work with the fm radio because it's need the antena (the regular wire stereo headset that come with it)

@RevRiley: If you want a decent phone with good MP camera and music capabilities, I'd strongly recommend the W810i. I have one and it is AMAZING! Or if price is a factor you could try getting a W800i. I heard they're stopping production of it though, cuz the W810i will take it's place?

@ berdy you can still take pictures witout autofocus because all camera phones without autofocus has fixed focus. the problem with fixed focus is that it has a sweet spot which means that at a certain point or distance the picture might be blurry than normal

I just checked the SE USA website, and they have a link underneath the W710 for a phone called the W712, what is this? I tried doing a comparison with the W710 and W712, but it looks like all the information hasn't been inputted for the W712; if it is correct, it means the W712 is very low end.

To einlenie. It would probably cost 3 or 4 times more if it comes out in the market here in the Philippines. Five thousand pesos would only get you a low-end range of phones.

In regard to Hamed's question of the availability of fitness application,so far,there's only one for which offer this..and its out..the Nokia 5500..which not only have this fitness application,but it includes with some fats-burning rate..or calorie-meter..which informs you the amount of calorie burn during your workout.its dust and scratch resistent,2.0MP...but given its design,i would advise you to opt for the W710i=)..the market price for the 5500 i guess its around 350usd?hope the w710i would be cheaper.

No matter what phone comes out, someone somewhere will have some complaints about it and thats the bottom line. There is no such thing as a perfect phone. The SE W810i was near perfection but not quite. But definitly the best phone yet in my opinion. Too bad it drops calls every once in a while but its a great phone. When SE or any other manufacterer makes a phone they will leave out certain features from certain phones on purpose, and put these features on this phone for absolute no reason at all when that phone should have had those features to begin with. Its a game that corporate america plays with us. Perfect example is the Nokia 6131 and 6136. If some of u guys are smart enough to figure those 2 out, then u will understand what i mean by idiot manufacterers putting the right features in the wrong phone and vise versa. And u wonder why Asia / Europe get the better phones... And why Cingular decided to remove the 1900 band so that we cant use tri-band 1900 phones... Its all about money they make from us

For the opion before this one. I challenge you to find a more reliable brand than Sony Ericsson. Being a retailer we see phones come back all the time. Out of every phone that comes back faulty, around 3% of them are Sony Ericsson. Believe it or not the most unreliable brand at the moment would be Nokia. Please email me if you find anything better.

it has a converter that comes with it. You attach it to the phone and then you can use 3.5 headphones of any kind. I'm using a w700 as a stop gap til this excellent phone comes out. SE is fast and Furious. The best.

Just because it has a few rubber parts doesnt make a unit a "sport" phone. This does not even have improved resistance to shock, dust and splashes. The only thing good about this is the Walkman brand. I say Siemens is still the best at making rugged phones. If SE wants to compete in this category, they ought to do more. They once were good at making rugged phones, i dont know why they stopped.

i got the w800 straight away when it came out... i have it for bout 10mnths now and so far it's still good. the quality and specs r gud and similar to dis one.. i like the flip fones so im thinking of getting this one...ut is true there's no flash? cuz the w800 has a pretty bright flash.. i didnt like the buttons bcuz it's faded and the scroll here is much better than the joystick.. hope d price is around the same.. sony ericsson rocks!! =) battery life lasts me for upto 3days and the walkman is great w/ 512 memory card... easy to pop songs in thru a memory card reader!!! =)

This is regarding the removal of the memory stick. You do not have to remove the battery in order to remove the memory stick. You only have to remove the battery COVER.

mm...its hard to understand the direction of these phones now, sure they might target a market, but i dont understand why they keep making great phones but just leaving one thing out, in this case AF which is almost crucial to a good camera, if you leave AF out what is the point of having 2MP, everything wil be blurry anyway just like the camera on the n80, is it really that hard to complete a package?

Can someone tell me whats the difference between Memory Stick Micro (M2) and Memory Stick Duo Pro? On w810 e.g. Duo Pro is up to 2GB. Can the w710 support 2GB? Another thing. Hows the data transfer with the SE phones via usb cable? If its fast enough I believe u dont have to pull out the memory card and use a card writer. Thanx.

this phone has the best appearance of all competitors on it's targeted markets, music and cool sporty people, and i really like the designs, i hope SE will make more and more phones in sporty style coz it's so cool, wish that they make cool phones not only in walkman series, but in K,Z,P series... if these will happen, well people of SE will get more inloved with their beloved SE phones... btw, it's a very very good job SE!

To be honest with all you guys, I should tell you that this is one helluva' phone. It has everything I wanted, a walkman phone with a beautiful flip design. As said before by someone else, eventhough I aswell will miss the flashlight in my previous phone(K750i) neverthless I am going to buy this phone.

Man, why did sony make this a non-hot swap memory stick. I cant believe i wasted my money on this phone. Its just like my W810 but in a flip version. This memory stick micro is tiny. And i miss the light from my W810, this has no light..

Another thing, Sony ericsson memeory sticks are really expensive.

Guyzz this phone is the best phone i ve ever seen... before i didnt saw any SE models with that very stylish,sporty design. but when this phone was launched. ive got in love of it. i like all of it's functions and it has edge, a step-down broadband version of 3g but offers amazing speed on downloading and browsing. hope gsmarena will make new reviews for the new SE phones... SE,SAMSUNG,BENQ-SIEMENS have been doing good this time, for me they all rocks.!

i prefer W850 and this One the best. i think the best designs of SE phones are in W-Seires Lineups. they're very sporty,Stylish, classic and feature-rich especially music and sometimes Camera incomparable to others. yes nokia makes very full-featured phones today like n93,n73,n80 but look at it's design. very very ugly. SE has maintained good feautures and design quality/ appearance. i can say this phone(W710) is truly superb. all walkman phones are great. even though the covers are non-removable (styleup covers) the overall appearance is not boring but breathtaking that everytime you use it. you'll be more inloved with it. we thank you SE for making it very good...

Anyway among all the se walkman phone, the best are still w900i and w800i, it has almost everything like autofocus in a 2megapixel phone, infra, bluetooth, acceptable memory space unlike w710 which has only 10mb internal memory(just like nokia) which is bad though. So i guess we need to have a petition set up to let the SE see that having all the basic stuff included will be the best LOLX.

This phone isn't better than w800.. It's middle-class,maybe the price won't be middle=class,but the phone is! It's something like upgrade after w300i. No Auto Focus?! I'm SE fan,but what dam pictures will take 2Mpx camera without auto focus and any focus also?! The answer is rubbish-quality big pictures.. Yeas..Deffinetly middle-class phone no matter the starting price and comments.
