This phone is pretty unique. I've had it for about err, 3 days now and it's pretty cool. I like how it's big and bulky, the durability is good, the buttons look really crappy, and hard to push, but it's all about getting used to them. There are many disadvantages however, such as not being abut to set the +/- keys for volume, can NOT use your own alerts for messages (you can only use what the phone provides), and finally you need a DCU-11 cable to hook it up to the computer. but nothing is perfect, although not being able to change the message alerts will tick me off a lot.

Okay I've had this phone for 22 months. My major and only problem is I can't get the 115 pictures off my phone onto my computer!!!I bought the sony ericsson usb cable DCU 11 and think I have downloaded all of the software to get the pics off of my phone, but I still can't figure it out!! :( any advice (in layman terms) would be helpful. i've had this baby for almost two years now and it's been through thick and thin. i've dropped it down stairs, on tile floors, even let it sit out in the rain for a few minutes... THIS PHONE JUST WILL NOT DIE. i've wanted a new phone ever since i got this one, but as much as i knock my brick of a phone, it really does have good sound quality and pretty good picture quality. despite the other comments, the battery lasts forever. i have gone five days without charging my phone while using it frequently and it has been fine. as as much as i hate this phone, i love it at the same time.

this pone is ok but it has a sucky speeker on it. it is alittle to big. and it does not charge very well. but i love it cause it recordes song and use them as ring tones.

ok, so this isnt the worst phone in the world...honestly..charger does not always charge, but it gets great service when you have at least three bars. pretty good reception as well. You dont get missed calls when the phone is off, but hey, there are worst phones out there. Go for a motorola or a samsung if you prefer.

okay. so this has got to be one of the crappiest phones i've had yet. i've had it for a year and a half, it seemed pretty decent when i first got it, but many people complained to me that it's a "brick".. well it IS true that the phone will survive no matter how many times you drop it, even dropping it from a certain height, i mean, the cover may fall apart and whatnot, but it still works as usual. however, it keeps hanging up my calls, and i barely ever have signal. the battery life is too short, and camera/video quality are horrible! the speaker is great though--quite clear. the charging sometimes doesnt connect for some reason, so you have to play around with it all the time, which is very annoying and tedious. i also bought 2 usb cables for it..however my phone doesnt recognize either cables, and i've tried them for other sony ericsson phones and they dont work.. anyway..it gets scratched up easily, even the LCD screen. i dont recommend buying this; save your money elsewhere

umm..my grandpa gave me this fone..it was really cute though..but i thing it's like, the signal is so low or just......none..when i'm asking my sister if her phone had no signal..she told me that my phone has a little bit.....not good..it has errors and stuffs...but it really is cute though..

okayy so i love this phone but i seriously like broke it .... i threw it the first time and it just scratched a lil but the second time it cracked a lil and third time it seriously broke in two.. i can close it now but the screen in the front doesnt work. i was so mad but i guess if i dont want to talk to anyone i just gotta hang up on them lol.. but oh well. but just like the other peeps were saying your phone does drop lots of calls and shuts off sometimes and camera sucks! but the good things are the speaker phone and you can record your own ring tones... i personally love that! i also have all my friends say its way to big and that its like a brick but i call it my vcr lol.. but if they made one with out all the defects and smaller i would totally buy another one!!!

i love this phone! ive had it for 1 year and a half now. and its been so much! ive thrown it across my room and its been dropped billions of times (literally). yes the paint does peel off and it scratches easily. my cover comes off when i flip it open, but that only started a couple months ago. but its a very fun and nice phone. and the buttons are super easy for texting!

I wish I had never bought this stupid phone or believed the rep who sold it to me! I just read the other reviews and mine is the same: battery doesn't last, drops calls for no reason (tower in sight), don't receive calls until days later on voice mail, doesn't give time/date message left, on and on. I got NO help from Cingular reps at 4 different stores on batteries! BUT they WILL sell me a new phone at $170! Let's not forget the fact that you can accidentally hit a button by mistake and all of a sudden a charge of $9.99 or $5.99 or more comes up on your phone bill that you had no idea you activated something and they would NOT work with me to take off the charges! I AM LIVID (BAD WORDS CAN'T USE HERE) AND I CAN'T WAIT TIL I HAVE THE MONEY TO CANCEL MY CONTRACT AND GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!

Sigh. Phone initially seemed like it had a decent mix of fun features and functionality but this is the second one I'm on and beyond the previously stated charging issues, the fact that it drops calls randomly for no reason whatsoever, that it sometimes will not receive a call when in clear sight of a cell tower, that it will go into silent mode by itself (yet in the menu it will say it is in ring mode), that it will sometimes decide to tell you about a voicemail you received several days after it was left are all reasons I'd recommend staying away from this particular phone. I notice that the reviews here are balanced between people who've had it for 1-4 days who love it and people who've lived with it more than just a few days who hate it. I hear this was Sony-Ericssons' first phone of this type and it shows. Next time I'll go back to Motorola since this just is too unreliable for daily use and whoever thought a camera that displays blurry and indistinct images was a good thing should have had their lapels yanked. Good riddance. It even has my wife calling my work cell phone because she knows the Z500 doesn't do the job.

I had my first phone for about 9 months, then it started blacking out, battery life was always low very quickly and I couldn't press the number keys to make a call. Cingular sent me a replacement phone and now it drops all calls (we have the least dropped calls......it's a lie). I am currently awaiting another replacement phone. I am eagerly awaiting to see the problems I get from this one. Worst phone I've had in my life.

I have had a lot of problems with this phone. Im actually on my second one, (it had to be replaced once). It has pretty crappy reception . I am now getting a new phone because for some reason it will not shut off (I have to take the battery out). Otherwise I guess its an ok phone. But, I wouldn't recomend buying it.

this is a great little phone, got it for my birthday, i've more than dropped the thing(landed near a train track), and it's never broken has no memory slot, but who cares, i've got hundreds of pictures on my phone and everyone asks just how much memory i've got

I have owned this phone for 2 years now, and I have to say, this phone has taken its punishment like a champ. I'm sure you've read other people's reviews about dropping this phone, and well, I have also lost my grip on this phone on occassion. This phone is definitetly a dependable phone, there are a few faults as far as quality like the camera definetly isn't the best, and it's a little slow going through the menus on occassion. Also, like others have said, the paint chips off a little, but that's the same as owning a car for 15 years where I live in NY and not expecting it to rust. But I would say there are more pros than cons on this phone and the best part of this phone is the way it is constructed. It would be hard to find a Motorola or another brand of cell phone that is built as good as this one. Trust me.

Judging by what I have read so far, and the problem I am having I beleive a recall needs to be done on this phone. The way they designed the charger cable, and how it connects to the phone is ridiculous. It has been a problem almost as soon as I bought it, not only do I have to fiddle with the plug for a long time just to get it to start charging, if it moves at all it disconnects and will not charge. Then, since it is just 2 metal plates on the bottom of the phone, and it spends a lot of time in my pocket, these plates get dirty, causing the connection to be even worse! I have to clean these plates with a q-tip dipped in alchohol on a regular basis, just to have a clean place for these retarded prongs to attempt to even connect. Worst charger ever! Other than that, I love the phone, it has great features, and is really sturdy. I just wish they would do a recall on the assinine charging capabilities.

I love this phone because of its look. Mine is blue and it's beautiful. I also got the USB cable so I customized it as I wanted. It's not perfect though. Only 6MB, so you can't have much themes, mp3, video and pics stored. K700 is the same thing but it's got 41MB. So next week I'm exchanging my z500 for a K700 and I'll just pay 40$ extra

great phone, very durable. i have no problems with it other than what the others have said about the paint peeling off. and one more thing, the buttons are hard to press. my fingers start to ache when i play games on it for too long. not that i can put that many games in it, as the memory is small. but overall, not bad, for the price. or at least it's not a digital camera.

Easy to use, never drops calls, but it's true the paint is chipping off as others said, it's slow when navigating the menus. I try not to open and close it very often, or will have the sensation that it will break in two some day. But anyways I love it!.

I got my Z500 for free when I got the Cingular contract. I havent had any problems with it. I assume everyone understands what they are buying as far as camera quality etc. Some people just don't take of the things they have. For example, I have a Mitsubishi Eclipse 1997 that still looks really good and another guys looks like crap. It's more about the owner then the product itself.

i think this is a great phone, i bought it about seven months ago and it stills works perfectly, no drop calls, no freeze screen, nothing wrong. Maybe I've been lucky but it works very good for me. I bought the data cable too and i download ringtones and pictures from my pc and everything i want to my phone ;)

I'd say that the two words that sum up my Z500a are "useless" and "junk".I got this phone through Cingular here in Florida...and that's where the phone's first fault becomes apparent. The screen absolutely cannot be seen in the bright Florida sun. It's camera has poor quality...even when set to Fine detail mode. Video and still shots are grainy, and the shutter sound cannot be turned off, yet it's loud and annoying. The phone would randomly shut off...but I found a cure: the shut-off is caused by the battery not being fully seated against the contacts in the case. Wrapping a small piece of paper or half a napkin around the lower half of the battery will wedge it firmly in place against the contacts and prevent future failures. Too bad it still drops/garbles calls even with a full signal indication. The mic gain is way too high in speakerphone mode, people you are calling hear too much background noise. The paint peels off it, and the battery life is way too short. Good luck getting it to recharge...the charger contacts suffer the same problem as the battery contacts, in that they don't seat fully against each other. And the unit is not very durable either...I dropped it from about 5 feet high onto concrete, and this caused the flip to become jammed halfway open. It would not close completely, but would open too far. I had enough of the phone at that point; I snapped it in half, chucked it into the ocean and picked up a new Motorola/Nextel i530.

This phone isnt that bad. Maybe I'm just lucky but i dont seem to be having the problems that everyone else has. The features and quality of the phone are great for the price and it's quite reliable. My only issue is it's a little chunky; you can tell when its in your pocket. On the plus side, youll always knew if you forgot your phone somewhere because you wont have a giant brick hitting your thigh everytime you take a step. Also, camera quality is a little grainy. Other than that, this is a good, dependable phone for the money.

This is the best phone I nave ever had. The only problem I have ever had is getting to the camera mode sometimes it will freeze up if I click to fast. It has never once dropped a call and It always has better reception then everyone else's. When theirs goes dead they borrow mine.

My wife and I each have one of these phone. We use them ALL the time. Overall they are great phones. Hardly ever drop calls, gets great reception nearly everywhere. Lots of features for the price ( camera and external color screen). Easy to upload and download pics to your computer with usb cable. I would recommend this phone for the price point for sure.

This is hands down the worst phone I have ever owned. And when I say ever owned I mean every phone including land lines. I don�t even know where to begin with the problems I had with this phone. My biggest problem was that the phone drops calls almost daily, turns its self off for no apparent reason, the operating software is the slowest I have ever seen, the phone would freeze and I would have to take the battery and put it back in to get it working again, the paint started to peel off after less then 2 months of use, the screen size and quality is horrible and the camera is total crap and the video is a joke. The one and I mean one good thing about this phone is its resilience, I dropped this phone off the roof of a 3 story building and off the roof of a 2 story building and both times it survived. I truly feel sorry for people who paid the full price for this disaster Sony Erickson calls a phone. Sony has just lost a customer, at least until Playstation 3 comes out.

I hve the A version. It is really a horrible phone. It worked well starting out but later on it just has problems. Within six months to a year of owning the phone you will be kicking yourself. It looks cool at the beginning and it may work for a few weeks but later on it is really not that good. Paint chips, stops working for no apparent reason. Have to take battery and GSM card out for ten minutes then put back in to get phone to turn on often. Will often stop working for no reason. Some features are usable but the phone is grossly unreliable and can cause you problems. It isn't something you would want to depend on in an emergency. Overall this phone is a dud. A new phone for a week or two might be OK but longer than that the phone stops working. The 2 phones we had / have were always treated well.

We purchased two of these phones and both of them are junk. My screen cracked and Sony was going to charge me $120USD to fix it, thats more than the phone cost new. I bought a new screen and fixed it myself, but thats only the beginning. The phone freezes in the middle of calls, freezes in the middle of games, freezes in the middle of everything. When you go to text somebody, GOOD LUCK! On a rare occasion you will get a text through, but those times are few and far between. t doesn't even take good pictures, and the battery lasts for no longer than a day, not even using it. Throwing this piece of junk away, and buying the new Sony Ericsson W810i, make sure you guys check it out...BETTER THAN THE ROKR!!!! Thanks

I had this phone for 5 months. It's a terrible phone. It's poorly made, its poor quality. It freezes, it shuts off in the middle of a cell phone conversation, the entire phone shuts off out of no where, it breaks in half when you drop it .

This is an awesome phone! I just got it today for Christmas. My friend has this same phone and loves it. It's got a lot of features and it it isn't very expensive. I've noticed a lot of people think it's too big but it really isn't. Thi is just my opinion but I think it's easier to hold on to and not as easy to break. The camera rocks,no freezing, great video, all of the features you could want in a phone. Yes, it lacks bluetooth but it still has great service. All in all, it is a great phone and a great buy for the money! Buy this phone! It is AMAZING!

I love it!!!! Great phone!!! I have had it for 3 weeks and no problems yet. no dropped calls, no lost messages, no freezing, games run amazing and the reception is very clear. The Only issue is no blutooth and infrared but i have no need for those since i prefer usb. the camera is a bit blurry too, but i guess one cant expect perfection from a camera built into a cell phone. Overall, great choice for those who want a very feature rich phone without spending all the big bucks.

The outside of the phone is pealing apart, the paint is chiping off everywhere and I haven't ever dropped it or misused it in anyway. 2. The text messaging function doesn't always work, especially when your text is longer than one text and it trys to make it into two messages. The test messages turn out blank on the receiver end. 3. The camera! Almost enough said but, it must be the worst camera in flip phone history! Pictures look horrible and the zoom function picture quality is even worse. The pictures look "blocky" no smoothness to the picture. I understand that this is Sony Ericsson's first camera flip phone, but if your going to put something out into the market, well then put out something good out there, especially your frist one. 4. The internet function doesn't always connect, doesn't matter if you have full "frequency" bars or not. 5. It's a good thing I only took the one year agreement with this phone otherwise I would be really upset!

It�s a good phone, It accepts all incoming calls (don�t believe all opinions) good aspect, good sound level. Cons: bad picture quality on dark places, not let you choose custom ring for sms and msm, don�t have a warning when you have lost calls or sms unreads.

I got two of these phones on a share plan and they have both been trouble, 1 drops calls, and the other one has zoom issues it wont zoom and has a mystery shut off feature when you least accpect it it just shuts completly off during calls.

This isn't a very good phone. I bought two of them about a year ago for a shared plan with my daughter. Her phone is worse than mine for dropping calls, but they are both pretty bad. Also, there's a big delay when you answer the phone. All in all, it's not a "terrible" phone because it gets good reception when it actually GETS it - but then it drops calls way too much. It is one of the poorer phones I have had. Not the worst, but definitely not the best.

I hate this phone. It drops calls for random reasons, even if the signal is perfect. The battery life is horrible. I've tried resetting the battery numerous times, and it just doesn't get any better. I end up having to charge it every day.

I think the phone is just OK. I just wish I was able to fix the contrast on the screen because the black isnt really black. I guess i wish the colors were more vibrant like the motorola phones. The battery life is very good. OH! The camera SUCKS when you are trying to take pictures in a not so bright room but i guess its a DECENT phone.

Its not that bad. I thought it would be a tad bit smaller. I've hadn't had a problem with the keys sticking or whatever. The volume of the speaker is wack. I don't know where everyone is getting there information from but this handset is due to be released within Europe (including the UK/Ireland) later in 2005. Furthermore, this handset is also presented on the european sectors of the SonyEricsson website and also tagged "Coming Soon". I think it is highly inappropriate for some people announce such things when it clearly is not factual (announced by SonyEricsson). I am looking forward to getting this handset soon but I am deciding which UK network to use it with (assuming it becomes available on more than one network). Vodafone have a nasty habit of customising the handset software kernel with their own branding and preventing mp3 ringtones (the kernel is not replacable with an unbranded as Vodafone handsets are also physically branded and coded during manufacturing). I therefore may decide to go with orange.

Hate it. There is a ridiculous delay when trying to type in numbers, many times some are missed, the screen is almost impossible to see in daylight (and not very intense light at that in Vancouver), low volume speaker makes it hard to hear callers, etc. I'd rate it junk.

I love this phone. it does everything i want. mp3's and animated backgrounds. to answer a couple questions, you use the dcu-11 data cable with mobile phone monitor to send and swap anything on your phone. you can use www.mobile17.com to do whatever you want to send to your phone...or send to yourself and use the data cable to connect. k. laterzzz ps. Get this phone. the reception is awesome....the ringtones are loud and can be mp3 music and voice, and there is a speakerphone/camera/videos!

I got a cell phone on Saturday--a motorola v551, but I wanted the Sony Ericsson Z500a. They were sold out and I was told they'd recieve more the following week, so I took the motorola temporarily. I kind of like the v551 and all its functions, but I like the appearance of the z500a better. We have owned our phones for 6 mos now, and my wife has the Moto 220 which has less features, worse camera but better screen (smaller and still grainy) but is smaller for small hands/pocket, simpler ease of use. My Z500 use is more casual compared of course to my teenage daughter... :-) who has explored alllll the features. First, the cingular site on phone comparisons greatly underestimates the standard battery life. When new one phone (daughter's) wouldn't charge; after trading batteries found it was the battery unless the cold boot settled the problem. My daughter drains it every day and with little use I recharge every third day. Next time I'll upgrade the battery. Better cam. Screen is the better type with better resolution while giving up brighness-- this type is difficult to impossible to use in the Florida sun. (Hint- when camera is set to night exposure expect grainier shots). I have dropped this phone 4-5 times from waist-high on hard surface, and after removing and re-installing the battery it works fine. I have recorded clips at the Beachboys concert, a large wedding, etc, great for on-the-scene emails ringtone use etc. 10 sec/clip default but you can reset it for more. Expect memory to go fast though. Still shots shutter sound (for privacy of the subject?)is permanent but Moto 220 is silent and discreet. Most kids here have the Moto 551 (I think the cam-phone of choice at higher price) but after getting to know her phone daughter loves it. Z500 is good value though and personally like it better than the Moto 220.

I just got the phone and after charing the unit overnight (10 hours), the unit started blinking and the on off switch did not respond. Troubleshooting instructions suggest battery replacement. I am taking it back and will try something else. I always trusted Sony quality and this unit became my first disappointment. But then My Sony experience has always been with electronics, not with telecommunications, e.g. Phones. Sony must stick to its core products where they are top of the world.

Sony ericsson Is a good phone but picture quality, and reception is not all that great. I have had my phone for about 4 months and had no serious problems with it. I would go with this phone or with a Nokia. That has great reception. And about the data for the usb for the ericsson phone got to www.sonyericsson.com. You will find it in there. But no promisses it will work, i have one and I can't get it to work on my computer. It can't find my phone so if you have better luck maybe you could help me out. Thanks.

I like this phone, reception is good. looks wise its a smart phone. The only drawback which I have noticed so far is its short battery life. it droops dead in few hours, even if you don't talk much. But its a good as a fancy phone.:)))

well....the screen outdoors is just about the worst i've ever seen....we got 2 of these phones at the same time and we both developed problems with the batteries....phones turning off because of batt....lo talk times....hard to charge...this is 2 phones, 2,226 miles apart....it's the phones folks, not us

First off, gotta say that this phone is light. It's not too heavy on my belt, or in my pocket. It can go virtually anywhere with me, which I like, cause I'm always on the move somewhere. I love this phone, the features are great, I'm still having some trouble figuring out the wireless internet on my phone, but I;ve only had it for about 4 days. Got it on 4/21/05. THe camera will come in handy for my daughter is born in September, I mean it's already being used quite frequently, but when the time comes, it'll be great Anyway, the phone is easy to use and navigate, which is a big plus. For people with big fingers, they may have a problem pressing the buttons as they are set virtually flush with the case of the phone, but you do hear an audible click, and a tone from the keypad. Service wise, as far as actually using the phone for its intended purpose, this baby gets a A++++++++. Signal has never been stronger, have NOT dropped ANY calls thus far, reception is crystal clear. When I say this, folks I mean it, it's sounds like the person you're talking to is right next to you. Most people exaggerate when they say this, but I mean. I've had 6 different phone models, Nokia and Motorola, thru 5 different cellular providers, and the Sony Ericsson Z500a thru Cingular is a SOLID performer. I also used to work for Cingular, so I know a lot about phones, and how things work internally. I am VERY impressed with this phone. Rock on Sony and Cingular!!!!!

I love this phone it is cool how you can record anything and make it a ring tone and how you can use speakerphone. Yeah the screen isn't top notch but it is good enough for me. I love this phone I recently had an LG, Motorolla, and a Samsung and all did not work as good as the Z500

I am first of all delighted there is no antenna to break on this phone!!! The reception is absolutely phenomenal!!! I have no problems with the size of the phone...that is perfect....HOwEveR.....the screen is cheese city!!! Much too small and extremely did I say extremely yes extremely washed out. The screen is not cutting edge technology...and yes that is a pun on the edge. I'm sorry sony...but I used to be a sony only kinda guy.

Sony Ericsson needs to address the major battery problem with this phone. It works fine for the first month or two and then battery begins to malfunction. Needs to be charged every day even for very light usage. It will drain from 1/4 down to nothing in minutes. I have had this problem with multiple batteries on this phone. Until Sony/Ericsson fixes this problem, I would not reccomend this phone. Other then this major problem I like the phone.

i love this phone, i one thing really like is how you can record anything including songs and make them into ringtones, saves lots of money for those who love to have tons of ringtones, the one thing i do not like tho is that when u flip it open to answer a call is that u have to wait 2-3 seconds before u can speak otherwise they wont hear you

I bought the Z500 about 1 month ago and had nothing but problem after problem. These are a few of them: 1. When you flip open the lid and say" hello" the person on the other end does NOT hear you. After saying hello 2 or 3 times they might hear hello. I think they have a software glitch. 2. The display goes DARK right away.If you need to push the keypad to reach customer no-service at Cingular(which you will be doing forever if you buy this phone) you will have to start the call again. 3. The signal where I live and work makes "mobile service" very frustrating.

ben, you must have got a lemon. i get 4 days easy a charge with LOTS of talk time. make ur cell company exchange u a new one that works. I love the features, aim works great, phone is easy to figure out as you use, except for the email. I am lost on that one. and the MP3 deal...but i'm not a music downloader. phone is good for the user, easy pic taking, just looks clunky. not for the pimp who wants to have a good looking phone. desireable faceplates are hard to find and its not the smallest phone in teh world. I wish it was smaller and curvier. i like how theres no antenna to break =)

The Z500 replaced a Motorola that I lost. I had it for about 2 weeks, then traded it in for another Motorola. The disappointments: - I was disappointed in the quality of the screen, and hence the camera; the quality of the color(s) in the screen was disappointing; - The keypad did not light up equally, and was distracting to read; - The keypad was small, and slightly recessed, making it difficult for people like me with large hands; the keypad was not particularly sensitive, and I frequently had to "re-do" my text entries; - The quality of the camera was disappointing after having used the Motorola; - I could never get more than 1.5 days out of a charged battery; it did not seem to matter how much or little I used the phone. I liked: - The slightly square clamshell design fits your ear nicely; - I could hear well on it; the speakerphone worked well; everything about the sound quality was impressive; - The square shape fit nicely in my pocket; Overall, a good phone, with lots of good features, but it just didn't work for me.I would recommend it for those who need the extra features like the music player and such.

I own this phone and it has a "Cingular" brand on it. I rate this phone 8 out of 10. BAD: Screen is a bit washed-out. 64K screens should be bright, crisp and clean. This one is a bit grainy. This could be just one trick by Sony Ericsson to make the battery more efficient. Keypad: A little bit recessed(sort of) but the keys are responsive. No one will hear the annoying "clicks" everytime you send a text message(nice trick again!) No Bluetooth and Infrared: Who cares! I do have a N3650 before and both features really drain battery life. Bluetooth will be replaced with a new UWB(Ultra wide band) technology similar to wireless networks that we have nowadays. Now the GOOD side. =) Features: Damn! I never know this phone has sooo many features. I got used to installing features which I never ever used on my N3650. This phone has a lot. It has code memo(storing passwords and other stuff), theme changer, media player, VGA camera with video capability, nice menu animation, animated wallpaper is possible! Damn! Colored 2nd screen, EDGE-capable fast internet! MP3 tones. Unfortunately, you cannot assign custom tones to message tones but that is not a problem with me. Calendar is very clean and outright simple. Oh, I almost forgot, the camera feature has a digital zoom. 6MB of memory is enough and there is no need for a memory card. Some memory cards drain battery life even without you noticing it. Customizable faceplates and Push to Talk feature which(hopefully) will be available from Cingular. I haven't seem much of the features that my phone have. I do respect your opinions about the phone but anyways, this phone ROCKS! (No pun intended =))

Well. When is this phone EVER gonna be out? It was announced early this year and since then Nokia had like 6 new phones out in the market. Its like telling u how good this phone is but you can only get it next Christmas. By the time it's out, all the technology is out of date. I like this fone's style and everything but no blutooth is a concern. Not all ppl use bluetooth for buisness reasons. All my friends use their bluetooth to give each other pictures and music. An ifra-red port would cost like nuthin to put in. And all those ppl complaining about the screen get it rught, its tft inside and Cstn outside. Looks like the release date for this phone is September 27, according to pure-mobile.com. As far as I know now, AT&T Wireless as well as Cingular will be carriers. Not sure about T-Mobile, but if you get an unlocked phone you should be able to transfer your SIM card fairly easily as T-Mobile runs on GSM 1900.

As I am European but grown up in Canada, I would like to know how the signal is on 1800Mhz only back in Europe? Are the European carriers doing redundant dualband usually (900/1800)? Is that much of an impediment the lack of 900Mhz in Europe? Don't get me wrong, I REALY look forward for this phone but if the lack of signal is an issue, I would beter go for the ugly Motorola v400 or V600 (I meant uglier then SE Z500)... push to talk is a"walkie talkie" type system, you can be permently connected to another push to talk phone and all you have to do is Push the button to talk. The idea being that you only pay for the time you are acually talking (or pushing the button)

People... don't get this model wrong... It's supposed to be a lower class than teh Z600.. so in terms of class position, the Z500 is weaker... that's why SE had the lousy screen on it... no idea why.. bu then seems like it... while it has better camera and nicer design, it's still a lower class... that's why it has no bluetooth... wait for the z700 or something.. the clamshell version of the k700 if you want something good... or the z500 if you want a more basic phone..

Just a quick reminder because I see people pulling this argument of "USA vs. Europe". You guys can use it both, and it doesn't need to be Quadband. GSM 850/1900 for the US and a slim but gracious GSM 1800 for Europe/rest of the world. So there we go, now everyone can have it. T610, T630 and Z600 have bluetooth and Z500 not. Some people want a SE phone which is good (and not shit like T230) but hasn't bluetooth. And something else: Push to talk is a brandnew function, which we don't have in europe!!

Design and features just ok, but a colour display on the outside isn't important. It's better to make a TFT-display (not CSTN) inside the phone.
