  • Hi there. I just bought this z610i "new" ??? phone off ebay & I have a feeling that it is refurbished. Can somebody tell me whether the games are actually already installed because mine are missing. Also, are there apps that are already installed. In another part it says that it (can't recall which it is, but it says it has been deleted. I know that if the master reset has been clicked on, all of these things will automatically be deleted. I used to have a z310i & it was the best I ever had. It was an earlier model, but had a lot more neat stuff on it than this one. I had to updrade because Australia hot rid of 2gb & now uses 3 or 4gb, but my precious z310i only used 2g. Could anyone tell me if these thins should already be included, or have I been ripped off? Cheers!

  • I have used a Sony Ericsson Z610i since they first came out in 2006. It is a robust phone, has survived dampness, once even in the washing machine, many drops and still recharges to 100% battery in one hour and lets me make calls all over Australia. Meanwhile my family have broken and gone through at least 3 to 5 phones each in the same period. 10 years is good quality. Thanks Sony Ericsson!

  • Yes, I am currently using this Z610i beside my Samsung Galaxy. Have been using Sony Ericsson Z610i since August 2010, still works very fine, never change battery, charger and never update firmware till today.

  • Sony Ericsson Z610i is great. I love the design and its features. It works fine for me. About problem, I had faced when I read picture message, it restarted (I thought that because I saved many writings in picture message more than 15 picture messages where each of picture message contains of 3.200 to 4.800 characters). After I deleted all, it worked fine again. Save too many messages I think that's not good idea, the phone can restart or freeze. Hope this will help.

  • I like this Sony Ericsson clamshell phone. Its main display/homescreen display (internal screen) is about 2 inch. Its external screen is good too. When it is charged, the light beside right above will light in red, when it is fully charged, the light changed to green light. Overall, I don't face any problem till now. Hope, it will last for long time.

  • problem with sony ericsson phones is that the headset and charger terminal is the same. with everyday use, the terminal tends to get lose. you'd be experiencing such problems. I advice you to go to your nearest phone technician and have it repaired.

You can get a way better phone for a more reasonable price. Advantages: -Its easy to put in songs or pictures. -It has an awesome shiny surface.   • I had this phone for about 8 months and i've dropped it numerous times because it has such a smooth (which is a good thing!) surface. It never failed me in receiving calls or text messages like some of the previous sony ericsson phones i've owned. And till now, I'm still very happy with it. It is still functioning perfectly!   • i had it with me for over 2 years and i feel really happy, because this phone is great, strong and sophisticated. i dont have any trouble with it. i often dropped it -and once i accidentally spilled water on it too- but my phone works perfectly still!! i always use SE series.

  • Hi, Sony Ericsson users! I know the secret code of Sony Ericsson mobile phones. Press: Right, *, left, left, *, left, * (in standby display) If you are correct. There will be 4 submenus (Service Info, Service Settings, Service Tests and Text Labels) You can know the clam flip count info from there. I'm currently using Sony Ericsson Z310i. I've used it for 16 months 3 weeks. The software still good and the flexible cable is still good too. Now my mobile phone's clam flip count is 2.063. I always control it. If you would like your mobile phone last long. Don't drop it deliberately, don't get it water. Don't use memory (internal and M2) too much. Consume it max. 50%. Don't too much open and close the flip because it will damage the flexible cable. Thank you!

  • No buddy, but is a great great phone, i have to say, that was the best phone i had in my life, is nice, easy to use, you can do themes, download a lot of stuff, fast, sound is great, one of the best, now i have a blackberry pearl for the connectivity stuff but i preffer the sony ericsson, had it for 1 year and a half, i had battery in that phone for 3 days in the blackberry every 6 hours i have to recharge that damn phone.

  • it's a good phone, except for the part where it freezes and shuts off randomly at times, maybe once a week. there is no way to unfreeze it until you take the battery out (which is quite difficult with the slippery battery cover)

  • I've had the Z610 for over a year now. my biggest biggest issues are: 1. Poor quailty photos/videos from the 2Meg camera 2. The head phone socket eventully wears out and constantly falls out of the phone. 3. The speaker in the reciever has stopped working and I can hardly hear the other party speaking. (hence the headphones in 2.) 4. You can't download SMS texts onto a pc easily. However, it does look great and I love the top cover music info scrolling. Plus the sound is pretty good. 6/10

  • I have this phone its awesome and pretty relible had mine for 2 years now and wverything still working. its not very easy to get this phone scratched but it is pretty slippery which could cause sliding out of your hand and denting the phone. Camera and video quality is not very good even tho its 2 megapixel. and you will get bored of this phone after 3 or 4 months.

  • I used this phone for two years & it was Perfect! No complaints at all. Though considering w380, my husband surprised me with a nokia n95 which is I find bulky!

  • Er... "we" can't unfortunately. But "we" can put the videos on "our" PC and upload them directly to youtube as it records in a compatible format (3gp. - if you must know) and "we" can edit it on VideoDJ before hand.

  • yes it supports the 2gb and running very fastly withoout any problems i've z610 and bought 2gb and it's very good.

  • RF ( Radio frequency ) can not go throw metal, so if u live under a metal roof or in basement then u will have bad reception. RF is how the phone signal travels through air

  • This phone is great,Has almost all the same features as the w300 and this phone is greatly underrated. The phone looks great on the outside in. One problem is fingerprints on the mirror like shell outside. other than that the phone is flawless. Great purchase and recommend the phone to any1 that wants to get quality and recurrence's in their phone

  • MAke sure that you have inserted the memory card in the correct position. Turn off phone take out battery and sim then put them back in and start phone up. MAy work if not you may have problems which a repair centre may need to fix.

  • After a few months switches its self off for no reason, when it feels like it. Beware as I have a this phone on contract from 3 they dont find a problem and wont fix it.

  • Me again with the headaches from 16/05/08. This phone has a SAR of 1.332 - quite high. I have since changed to a LG U830, SAR of 0.421 and NO MORE HEADACHES. Buyers beware.

  • flip or bar...? i've had both and i think it's just a question of taste. you see what you prefer. some people like only flips, others like only bar-type. i like both, it just depends on the phone, i guess. before this one i had a Nokia 5310 (got stolen) and liked it a lot.

  • you can download themes from zedge.net. it's a really gr8 site. you have to register, but it's free. i've been using it to download and upload stuff for a long time. you can use it to download to your pc or directly to your mobile.

  • When I purchased it, the box included: - Phone (of course) - Regular charger - Earphones - Manual The car charger needs to be purchased separately and it's good to get a cover for it too if you dont want scratches on it (a few scratches isnt horrible). The wireless store that I bought mine from gave me a car charger for free!

  • Good phone, good price. (I have the black one) There is a photo call feature, which is pretty cool. Bluetooth works for both the handsfree and transferring files from this phone to another. Charges fast. This is my second Sony Ericsson phone and both have loud ringtones. The call volume is loud enough, but not super loud. Buttons are sleek & pretty and still easy to dial. Camera is usable (don't expect excellent, digital camera quality pictures from any camera phone). I live in the U.S. so if anyone's wondering if it works in the U.S., it does. I hope I helped!

  • Very good phone overall. I thought it was a bit girlish at first glance, but I have the black one and it is suitable for guys. Stylish phone for sure. Good enough for big hands like mine and overall in 6 months of use, no serious complaints. If anything if you don't baby it, the phone will have scratches, still they are not too noticeable.

It's a really nice phone and the camera quality is great- but yes it scratches quite easily and her phone already has a few scratches. No, scratches are not too noticeable and if you're looking for a cute, easy to use phone I totally recommend this!

  • I had this phone for 1,5 years. During this time I had 3times quarantee replacements bcs: in cold weather the phone turned off :( even I had it in my insidepocket. The speaker didn`t work properly while ringing and playing music. So they tried to fix these problems 3 times- nothing helped.But in general, it was lovely phone. No complains to camera, buttons, screen... Now I`m having Nokia 5310

  • This phone is rather interesting for a DB2020 classed phone. As long as you stick to CID52 and don't try to upgrade to CID53 encryption it's really easy to modify it and add new options that was in the phone but never activated for the user ;) 1GB, 2GB M2s work. 4GB M2s only work half the time. I think when the phone is on CID52 it doesn't like memory cards greater than 2GB. But I heard from some people that when you upgrade to CID53, 4GB M2 cards are fully readable but then upgrading to CID53 makes mod ability incredibly poor.

  • Yup, it's a japanese style phone. Bought one recently. :). Still need to get use to the function since I was a nokia user. Not satisfy with the reception though. Sometimes the signal strengh get very low. :(. Reading some of the comments, I guess, that's normal with the phone? The flat keypad is quite hard on the finger. Otherwise, it'a lovely 'mirror'y phone.

I have the pink one, and i made it totally lookin like it came from japan. haha =) its so cute, but it occasionally blanks out randomly. does anyone have the same problem? The colours are really good, but theres no radio function. The music is clear too. Sometimes it randomly goes out of reception, and that annoys me.   • this fone is a waste of time and money. it switches itself off. i have to sleep with it under my pillow so i will wake up to the vibration under my head to wkae up for work. the ringtones dont work, it wiped itself clean off all phone numbers games, ringtones, themes, has been sent away 2 many times to count, the repair company have had my phone longer than what i have. poor reception and i live in a city, battery life lucjy if i get a day out of it. and i have taken really good care of it, it has never been droped ever!! other than that i love the look of the phone but it has been a let down major!

  • I got this two days ago, after 'losing' my Nokia 5310 XpressMusic at school. only �99, it is kinda cheap now. hate the keypad, yr fingers just stick to it after typing 2 messages. the keys are something like a cheap plastic cover, not well defined. anyway, the funcs are ok, cam not so much - but I don't care about it. ringtones are loud enough but vibro not so gr8, already lost some calls when in silent mode and keeping the phone in my cargo pants' side pocket. impossible to read the external screen under direct sunlight. just hope someone will 'make me lose' this phone in a month or so - and give me back my 5310!

(i didn't keep tabs on how many records were transferred) and i've got probs with short battery life too. when i don't use my phone, the batt only lasts up to 3 full days. anyone else experiences this? and the card is micro (it's in the specs).

  • Hey, I've had both the black and pink version of this phone and have loved both of them!! No troubles with them.. i am just a bit careless and lost both of them and are considering getting a third. The design is really nice, but yes it does scratch/chip/dint sort of easily. VERY hardy phone though - I drop my phone quite often and it was still working and fine! Reading other peoples issues with the phone.. personally never once had the problem of invalid sim. Have however had my screen go black for a couple of seconds but it wasnt a big issue.. only happened a few times in a year. Also, sometimes my reception would cut out when in an area with good reception, but turning the phone on and off would fix it. Camera quality is alright. Nothing special, but i think it's good enough for a phone. Would be very handy to have a flash though that could ruin the design. Would definately recommend this phone!

  • I know it�s not the phone�s fault but texting is a bit frustrating for me. I used to have Nokia before I got this one. And switching from Nokia to Ericsson needs practice - and patience. Especially when texting. I�m so used to pressing 0 for space and when I don�t look at what I�m typing, my+msgs+look+like+this. lol I have the blue one and I love it. A bit big for my small hand but yeah, it's sooooo stylish. However, I hate the fact that I can't zoom in when taking pictures or on the picture itself. (Or I still haven't found out how to do it? Anybody?) I think battery life is not that good compared to my other phones. I charge it eeeeveryday. I also bought a crystal case to protect and prevent it from scratches. So far, it only has one very tiny dent (ironically) caused by the crystal case. So check your crystal case first before putting it on your phone. All in all, this is a great phone. Enjoy!

  • I have a phone k610i for a month, and now its under repair suddenly after i download, it won't turn on. I rush buying z610i for the reason that it's the second more cheaper 3G phone, i've known. I like 3G phones. I've been using this for days now but I don't know I have 1G m2 I dont know if it's my memory card or really the phone, it sometimes hangs up. This happens when I view the pics or videos or try to send a picture message to somebody. It will say the picture is too large about to resizing it, then suddenly it hangs up. I can't just take the battery on and off, I also have a problem opening it. So I just wait in a while and pray that it will be back, then it did. I've been using ericcson since then from t610i. It was only now for k610i and this z610i that i always feel nervous that it will bug down. Is it because of its larger memory why this happens? If i will bring this to the service center, I dont have phone already to use because it ends up two of my new cellphones already under diagnosed!!!

  • I bought this phone off of a friend of mines..At first. I thought it was a pretty phone but once I got it, it was a total disaster! It kept saying: "invalid sim" I was going crazy over it! Also, the battery life is not that good...the buttons are weird..The only thing that's good about this phone is the looks..either than that, there's nothing good about it. The camera is suppose to be 2mp, even a phone with a VGA camera beats it..

  • I've had this phone for about five months now and i've had few troubles with it. A few minor software troubles, small things like the screen going pixelated when you first open it, or randomly flashing the message menu or the running apps menu. For about a month it had trouble charging but then went back to normal. Other than that this phone is great. Really good battery life and great talk time. I usually only have to charge it once a week and that's with frequent talking everyday. Despite the software issues I'd still recommend this phone, besides, its nothing a software upgrade couldnt fix.

  • I agree; the blue one really looks like a toy. I bought a black one, and it currently has no problem. The sounds are awesome; and since there are many reports on the surface of the phone being easily scratched, I bought a crystal case for it--although it limits the real, outer beauty of the phone because of the case, at least it can last longer and be less scratched, right? :) The phone's been with me for nearly a month now, and yes, it's fairly new. I'm currently loving its Micro-Stick feature, its 3G feature, and the camera's 2 mega-pixel.

  • It is possible to pause when you are making a video. I believe there is a headset for this phone only it doesn't come with the phone itself. I use a bluetooth headset :) It's a really great phone, I have it for about 7 months now, never had any problems with it. I have the black version. If you hate fingerprints - you probably spend most of your time trying to keep your phone clean :)

  • I've been using Nokias for some time, and switched to Sony Ericsson to test. This phone is awesome in terms of features and usability. I noticed some issues you might consider: - No autofocus / Cannot zoom with camera in photo mode (video yes, can zoom). - Cannot zoom on photos in gallery/folder - No keypad lock + lock with code. Might have been useful for keeping kids and others from using your phone. - No FM radio - Couldn't get AAC audio files to work on it Apart from those, the phone is great. Sound is loud and clear from back speaker. Keypad is easy to use (but lags a bit in messaging sometime) and camera is ok. No regrets apart from the points above. I miss the Keypad Lock function most.

  • Awesome phone!! Only drawback tho is that you cnt zoom in the PHOTO MODE, althought it has an awesome zoom in VIDEO MODE.. In response to the outside LED screen, It can't be set. It will show those "Bubbles" when you are actually talking on the phone.

  • Hi, I have used this phone for about 6 months and I am gald to say that its a keeper (although I still traded it for a W950i but not becuase i didnt like this phone). Its an eye catcher, I got comments everywhere I went and everybody wanted to hold my phone and check out the cool external display. I wasnt a fan of flip phones but this cell changed that view. The software OS is brilliant and the manu fast and user-friendly. The ringtone sound is awesome and the speakers are loud. Battery time is brilliant too I am a heavey cell user and when say it is good it really is good. In 6 months I used this phone to about 600 hours so you can imagine how much I ragged it. Would I buy another one? Absolutely! Just waiting for the z750 to release now. Hope it comes with a different variety of colors. Love the s500i though! Samad

  • hey guys i just got this phone like 2 weeks ago and it's been the bestttt. i got it in the color pink! for those people who have been saying it's "shutting off by itself" or saying "Inactive SIM" , all you need to do is just go on the SonyEricsson website and download their upgrade program and just plug in your USB cord to the computer. just follow the directions and it should all be easy! I had the same problems too during the first weeks and now my phone is working absolutely fine! also i realized it was my SIM card that was making it say "Invalid SIM" because i've tested it with other SIM cards and i just needed to upgrade it again.

  • i could not be more dissapointed with this phone!! got the sony in december cause it looked totally hot. 3 weeks later it started to reset during calls saying "inactive usim" after having it in repair for a week there was no fault found but the problem continued. after complaint to three who i got the fone in contract with, the handset was replaced with a "refurbushed handset" which also had the same problem!!! three contiued to replace it with refurbished fones which i was soooo angry about but they wouldnt give me a new one. im currently on my third fone, although it doesnt turn off during calls sometimes the message wont show up on the external display. another thing i hav to complain about!!! trying to get phone swapped with something more reliable but i dont think three is going to budge!

  • you can save as many messages as you want because it just takes up your phone memory. u can use da camera in silent if u turn ur phone into silent mode first. u can use ur own tone as a message tone. i fink blue is better than black but overall pink is da best 1 :D

  • Take a look at the new Bird M32. The Bird can do nothing but to copy the Sony Ericsson's design and also in other Bird's phone has the same interface, like Sony Ericsson. The icons were the same. The M32 really look likes the Z610i/Z750i but doesn't have the glossy effect. The Bird doesn't have originality. Just copy what Sony Ericsson have!!!

  • having the phone power on and off by itself is not normal and means there's a defect. The music button on the left only works if the phone is open. once you close the flip it will still play but if you stop it and close the phone it will not replay. I work in wireless and love this phone. I realized that there's already a newer version of this with the fm radio on it.

  • Yeah this phone has delivery reports just like the other SE phones. For the VIDEO calling, you can go to the video call menu and just click on it, you will first see yourself in the bottom right corner in a small box, the bigger box is supposed to be the person you are calling, but you can switch the position in the options menu so you will see yourself in the big box on the screen

  • I've had phone for about 3 months. "Glossy" magic is nice, but i CANNOT see front screen in the sun.... I bought the pink one which is very girly, but I find the phone VERY bulky and brick-like. NOT thin at all, pretty large phone, and I guess Im used to thin, small phones. My phone turns off suddenly when it wants to. I have missed many important calls due to this :( The phone does not scratch easily but if you are human you are bound to drop it and with this phone most drops are noticable. Have had a very hard time using pc-phone sync.My laptop has never properly installed the phone, it just doesnt recognize it...??? every time i plug it in to the computer it restarts and i find that annoying, plus sometimes it just doesn't want to turn back on after i unplug it from the computer...sometimes when i get a message i dont get the screen that pops up and tells you that you have a message.. it just rings and i suddenly see a little envelope so i actually have to go to the menu, messages, inbox..its very annoying..i dont know if its just my phone but so far i dont recommend it, plus the price was very high for so many imperfections.. paid nearly 300 usd. Camera does not seem that great, no zoom when using high quality.. video SUX>> no FLASH!! no fm radio, does not come with headseats, mp3 player is very loud, but speakerphone not so good..ringtones super duper loud..i honestly dont recommend this phone at the price its being sold for,.. i would only recommend it if it was like 100 bucks cheaper... ..dissapointed

  • anne: honestly if you want better durability then this is not for people who frequently drops it's phones cause the sleek covers will get scratched. but it wont get break as it's casing is very solid as always being SE. but if you ask about it's camera quality, it is always very good as the SE phone always sport better cameras with or without the high end features. there's lot of phones out there but if you want quality in softwares,camera,music and equipments then SE is the best. SE quality is really fantastic but it just need some good care too. but if you consider the scratches then this phone suits you for style,speed and multimedia... goodluck!

  • hide: i think you misunderstand me. what i mean is that try turning the lcd settings to powersaving mode so that whenever you don't use the phone the lcd turns off to save power but on what you have said the you got the power saving mode turned onn already. but reducing the brightness is also good idea. but i didn't told you to reduce it to merely 50% but just set it a bit lower than the highest setting maybe 2 blocks lower than the highest setting. and the phone will save more energy. the screen is TFD so it won't make the screen unreadable in the sunlight as the lower class STN does. also, brightness doesn't make the phone to be more readable. it's in the type of LCD that it depends. if the LCD is a reflective one. the sunlight won't make problems in redability at all. but if it's not like the OLED though brightness is better than TFT, then that will be the problem... hope you get my point here... tnx for reading!

  • kyo: forgot to mention: 1. Who is responsible to upgrade the firmware of the phone? We have to do it by our own? --> honestly everyone can do upgrade to the software but it needs some experience and expertise as the phone may die if carelessness is done. upgrading differs from updating in terms that in upgrading, the phone usually erases every files on the phone and bringing it like a newly bought one. while in updating the software just changes the version and also fix the problems brought by the older one but never erases the personal files on it. 2.How to check the current firmware of my phone and what is the firmware I need to upgrade to? --> the site i have given you has the software for monitoring evrything on your phone including the versions of the software and etc. the firware is just available on the sonyericsson site. just click on the z610 link then it sends you to the download site for the specified phone model. 3. You are suspecting my firmware has got problem? --> yes, and usually the phones of this generation are not the same as the phone before(monochome screens and lacks vital features) but they are more stable and has longer-lasting battery. that's why motorola nokia and SE brought the online free update of the software versions on our phones in order that the problems may be fixed.

  • to Kyo: do you have myphone explorer installed on your pc? if not yet, then download it at www.myz610.lasyk.net and connect your phone to your pc using that one. in that case the program can determine the software and firmware version of the phone. once you've determined that the software version is old then you can update it by yourself at sonyericsson site. don't worry for the site is user friendly and instructs you one by one how to update the phone software. if stil it persist then you have to change the phone to a newer one. i think its a factory defect(which i hope it won't) hope this could still help.

We tested both 2.5G SIM and 3G SIM with different number yesterday, it gives the same result.

  • chayne: the theme creator v3.10 is the best choice if you want to personalize your theme y yourself. and the pink text/background you wanted badly is also available on that software. maybe you can download it at this link: and it requires some of your expertise in making themes for SE phones so you can use it accurately. goodluck!

  • hideo try enabling the powersaving mode of the LCD screen settings under the settings menu. it will reduce the usage of the battery if not in use. and will save 30-40% of the battery consumption.

  • to kyo: better first update your firmware to the latest version available at the sonyericsson site. that one maybe better as if the files won't get deleted after the update unlike the upgrading one. try it and tell me if there's already improvement. the software used on the service center at your location isn't latest i think. just try it before you change your phone. goodluck!

  • All, I went for upgrade my phone to the latest software as advised to solve the ringtone problem. However, the problem still persisit. I believe it is the software problem that cuase the personalised ringtone not working properly. Service center change the board of my phone. And it doesn't work!! Finally, they promised tto replace a whole new phone for me... Bad Luck. They are suspecting the problem is caused by the SIM card. Only 3G SIM will work fine with this phone for personalised ringtone problem. Anyone has ideas on this?

  • Jazmin: Mine doesn't turn off automatically after use. That doesn't sound normal. U might want to check. True,the internal camera can't be used to take pictures. But it's only a VGA camera inside. You wouldn't want to use it to take pictures. All: I just have issues with the battery. It seems that the real talk time/standby time is way shorter than advertised (usually about 3-5 days), while the standby time is supposed to be 400 hours (16 days). I don't talk much. I notice that it uses about 20% of the power a day, when most of the time it's on standby and only used for calls a few minutes a day. Anyone wants to comment on this? (seems this is the same to other SE phones)

  • Hi SeF, I tried bi MIDI and MP3. Both having the same problem. I just called up Sony Ericsson customer support and they informed that my software version of RIEJ001 need to be upgraded to R1GB001 to solve the problem. This can only be done at the Service Center. All, If any of u is using the same software version as me, advisable to go for upgrade in order to ensure the Personalised Ringtone(at least) to work as per normal. The Personalised Ringtone only works for certain entry at certain time. It is an intermittent problem!

  • Kyo: just wanna ask, what type of file do you use to play the ringtone? ther are lots of audio formats and i think this one simply works on Mp3 and MIDI. but if it's WAV then i can't really make it. just see if the files is Mp3 and Midi and it won't make you down..

  • I think the Personalised Ringtone is having bugs.. some of the phone call can play the personalised ringtone as what we have set under contacts but some cannot. SE, please fix this intermittent bug... So annoying..

  • To ALL you guys asking about the Phone, I agree with SeF,If u r going to use ALL the functions on a Nokia, them Nokia is better off (e.g. downloads) however, I used to be pro-Nokia, but now I'm loving this phone, cus it has what I need (which is most of the main functions in nokia!) & even better: 1- Copy & paste function 2- U can set more than one alarm Disadvatnge: 1- It turns of (Goes on like a power saving mood) in seconds after use 2- U have to flip to see if u have a message or missed call. I guess this is a message to SE to improve! 3- U cant take pictures using internal cam. But really, its worth the money & the look :)I initially didnt like it, cus I wasnt aware of the many functions, but it beat my expectations in a good way.......It has most of what nokia has with a preety face :).........Try it!

  • cutiee: N73 is better if you really utilize all of it's features like installing advanced applications(office,image editors and more.) but if you're not in used with those hobbies then this is far better. it's worth the money and is really pretty! for example - even if you have friends using Samsung D900 or Razr still this will really shine better in the eyes of your friends because it's absolutely gorgeous!

  • highly recommend z610. pretty inside out (like a Japanese phone) with most functions that you'll want to use, and good battery life (though it seems to be shorter than stated in the official info). the sound of the mp3 player is good (u don't need the WALKMAN interface if u just want better sound quality cuz u can adjust the equalizer for sound effects like MEGA BASS in the WALKMAN models. also, use better headphones for better sound)

I know this phone very well.Just imagine a SE K750 without radio and good camera.The camera is NOT at horizontal position like SE K750 and doesn't have zoom when capturing(after the capture you can).Anw the photographs are very good (good quality) on pc.The 3G camera is the best(compare with SE K800,W850 an Nokia N73).The display is very bright and that helps with the quality.After the music can play very loud (like w550 and w900).Good for messaging, talkin' and hard usage.Yep the battery life is very very very good, i am charging it every 3-4 days with about a half hour listening to music every day, sending many sms and talking (more than normal usage).I love this mbl phone.... No handsfree included but who cares with this performance.... :) as i said before you can do all you are doing with any other SE ............................................   • Useless and obliviou --- First make sure the destination file of your video is under the Videos folder. next make sure the format is supported(.3gp) and if any of these two isn't satisfied, the result is what you are now experiencing...

I bought the phone mainly due to its sleek design and secondly, since it's available in my favorite color. � I sooo love the reflective cover, which tells me instantly who's calling or texting me. The phone camera takes good pictures, unless of course if lighting is very poor while the picture was taken. But under normal (inside the office) light ocnditions, pictures look good. Even better if pictures are taken outside on broad daylight. � In my opinion, the phone still needs a bugfix. Sometimes, the menu names or menu selections display as F:10465 or something like that. But if you can live with that, go ahead and buy the phone. I downloaded the Bible in mine. �

  • Hey guys, any of you encounter this problem. When you set a jpeg as wallpaper. The picture looks fine in the picture folder, but looks distorted when it's a wallpaper. Distorted means i can see the some color patches also lost of details.

  • it doesn't have flash. for those who are having trouble with silencing the camera sound, there is a trick. all you do is put the phone on silent mode, and off you go. once you return to normal mode, the sound, will be audible. yes, there is an inner camera, but it is only for 3G conferencing. this is a great phone, i don't have a scratch on it at all, because i like to have it pouched. extra care is vital in keeping this phone in mint shape. the OLED display cannot be customized, it is a very new feature on phones, so having this phone is wonderful.

  • the "i" in z610i just stands for international. that is what i have now, because i am in asia. it just means it's an international edition.

  • i bought the phone a month ago, and it's a great phone, the only flaw would be the fingerprints everywhere! all in all it's nice. about the zoom function, you CAN zoom. but only on VGA camera mode. yes, it has speakers, at the back of the phone and the playback is very nice. hope this helps.

  • i'm using this phone and it rocks. PVFC: there is a place to put accessories. it's at the back. U muz remove the cover first. It's at the bottom! IT'S sort of a "U" shape then u can just hook it and close the cover! ;)

  • there is no difference between the z610 & z610i they the same phone just some websites leave off the i you can put an accessory over the flip, just push over the top flip piece & it will be fine cause thats what i did

  • I really wanted to get this phone as I really have a thing for flip phones and the design of the phone is sooo slick!.. But I was SOOO dissapointed when I discovered that this phone has no flash or autofocus! My mates are always doing strange and weird things when we're out and about and im the one that always gets it on camera!! So without the flash or autofocus, i was very discouraged and opted for a W850i instead! I really hope SE take this phone and develop and enhance this further. If they did, i reckon it would be a really good contender for a lot of the Nokia and Samsung phones on the market in the UK right now.. But asides all that.. a Super Duper phone!

  • i have the nokia 7390 & its a great fone, i had this sony ericsson z610i before & i liked it but it does scratch easy, once the display has gone you can re-lite but it does not say who the missed call or message is from till you open it. the display only goes round once when recieving a call & i kept having to answer the fone but never had enough time to look who was calling cause you only have 20 seconds max to answer the call before it goes to voice mail, the nokia 7390 is a bit dearer to buy buy it has a 3 meg pixel camera with auto focus & flash. i know they say nokia's have software problems & yes i have experienced this before but so far (touch wood) not with the 7390. i have had 3 sony ericsson fones, w850i, z610i, w710i & each 1 has had a problem from freezing to blank screens, these were the only sony ericsson fones i have ever had & it does not give the company a very good name at all.

B4 I was using SAMSUNG it can be done but I juz dunno how SE phones work on this. ii) Also I wanted to know how to get rid of the DIGI logo. Digi is our prepaid provider in Malaysia just like O2 and Vodafone. Its so disturbing there cos when I put up my Wentworth�s wallpaper the stupid DIGI logo is covering his face!!! There u go.. lol PPS: to Mel u mean the numbers appear in front of the phone? Yeah it does really appear.. So whenever u get a call or msg the front screen will display the caller/sender�s ID. Hehehe�. PPPS: yeah at first I was a lil disappointed when the pix I took wasn�t THAT clear. Cos as I know its 2 MP phone man!   • I have now the Z600, getting old fashion by now, but when I bought it was a really amazing phone! The sucessor (this Z610) gives the same feeling, it�s a beatifull, well built phone. Think it�s time to change my phone :-)

  • Had the black z610i for about 3 days now, very good overall impression. Screen - nice and bright, resolution is better than W800i I was using before, and much brighter and more vibrant. Interface - very fast, pictures load much faster than W800i, and games installation and loading are quicker. Speaker - is significantly louder than than w800i, Media player pretty much the same, except that it can't view or play video in full screen. Signal - reception extremely good. I couldn't believe how well my reception was given than it's triband phone and I'm using on Cingular, big props here to z610i. Cover - shell does get greasy, fingerprint heavy easy, so for some who like to see their phone in clean shape, it may be bothersome. I'm considering a cover now. Maybe it'd not get greasy as easy if you heavily use Bluthtooth headets. Overall, it's a good bang for the bucks - I paid $270 for it, compare to some other phones with similar specs. And you get the awesome design!

  • I've had the phone for 2 months now, dropped it a few times on the sidewalk, and I go jogging with it in my pocket, and so far no scratches on the front cover. I'm sure that's what everyone really cares about. A small chip on the corner of the white plastic above the cover, but no other asthetic defects. As for storing a photo, you go to the contact you want, select more -> edit, then go right 2 tabs to the picture tab. You can figure it out from there. One problem I'm having is that sometimes when I open the phone, all I would see is the background, connectivity bar, and battery power. No Clock, Calls, Menu, or anything, even when I press a button. I would see the general layout change if I went into a program (memorized the keys), but no fonts. The same goes for the front cover. Anyone experiencing that problem?

  • i will just say that i have had this phone 6 weeks & there are small scrathch marks on the front although i always put in a pocket on its own & look after it very well, i now believe it does scrathch easlier than alot of other phones cause of the glass front it shows more!!!!!!

  • Great Multimedia phone! I plugged it into my x-box 360 and the 360 reads it as a media player and a camera simultaneously! i have a few converted music videos in it and the quality is great. personally i think the speaker on my cell phone is louder than the one on my laptop (Vaio). All in all its a great phone theres so many more positive things to say about it but not enough space

  • the size of your memory card determines how many songs your phone can store. I have a 1gig in mine and so far i have just over 50 withy plenty of room to spare

  • The phone comes with 16MB internal memory, and an M2 slot, which goes up to 1 gig right now. As for the FM, no idea. The external display will show the incoming # if it is not in your contact list, and the contact's name if it is. The external display cover is durable. I dropped my phone from my hand onto the sidewalk, and the front cover doesn't even have a light scratch on it. The back got chipped a bit, but no scratches on the front cover.

  • Yea, on the display, it'll show a small square arrow (meaning missed call) or envelope (sms). I'm having a big problem with having low coverage area (it says Emergency Calls Only in a lot of places) using Cingular. Would switching to a 3G simcard fix that?

  • don't have to open the flip, can just simply press the side button and it will show any missed call or messages on the external screen

  • Hey guys, I understand from a friend who just bought this phone, if you missed a call or sms, the external display will show you the missed call / sms only for a short while. After awhile it will goes off from the External display. You still have to open the flip and read from internal display that you have a missed call and sms. Appreciate if you guy can confirm that.   • well i just wanted to say i had the black z610i a month now and it slippd from me once on the a pretty rogh pavement and i expacted the paint in the edges to be completely scratched off, but suprisingly the scratches on the edges were barely visible so thats a serious thumbs up!!

  • i bought a black version, now i think blue version is much more cooler. coz the white pad. it can use mp3 as ring tones. although the screen is not as nice as w850 or k800 but i still like the front display. the function is not fast respone but still acceptable. no problem in using it for the past month.

I was scared of that in the beginning but when I use the phone, the screen size is pretty good... there aren't many themes for this phone though, which is a little disappointing... (even on zedge)

  • I wouldnt recommend to buy this fone, the screen too small makes the world small in you , and makes all the features function not optimized in your eyes. If the screen is little bigger would be one of the best fone. But smaller screen turn down 180 degrees.

  • Just got the phone, and it works just fine. I'm in NY with Cingular and the phone works, so it should work for you too PEHS. If your current service doesn't work, you can always change to Cingular. So far, the internet stuff doesn't seem to work, but I'm going to go to the Cingular store today to figure that out. As for the headset, I didn't get 1 when I bought mine (checked all the online retailers and none of them say headset is included in package). I can't believe you can get this phone for free from Three, lucky people across the pond. Also, NewEgg is still having a sale on the 1 gig M2, I got mine for $42 shipped. Get them while they last.

Again, the digital zoom does not work in megapixel mode... =( As for the phone connectivity, it's a triband phone.   • I just got the phone from hk! =D Overall nice phone. The drawback is the 2mp camera. The zoom feature cannot be used under 2mp and 1mp but only in the VGA mode. A nice feature is the reflective surface. Obviously the drawback is the many fingerprints you can leave on the phone. =( The phone supports a lot of music files, including Apple's .m4a. That means if you have an ipod and you have all your music in ipod format, you can convert all your songs to the phone. =D The largest disadvantage on the phone is the memory card. It came with only a 64 mb M2 card. And note M2 is a fairly new card so there isn't a lot of places that sell it. I would rate this phone an 8.5/10 for features and a 9.5/10 for phone design. It's definetly a good buy!

  • if you take your phone to a mobile phone repair shop with a new cover they should be able to change the cover for you, they do this on other mobiles that state not changable covers. they will charge a fee!

  • geri. i have a 1gb memory card in mine & its a scan disk make, it works great, quick to browse etc.

  • geri. go to settings, general & go down to flight mode, select don't show & this will stop it coming up when you start the phone up. once the music is playing you can shut the phone & it will still play. on the outside there is a silver button above the 2 pink buttons if you click this, this will start & stop the music once you have selected your "my platlist" in the music section.

  • liz. no you can not put a dangle charm on this mobile cause there is no hole for it. you can not change covers. this phone comes with a pc suite cd & a usb lead to use with your computer so you will not need to buy 1. i transfer my bits via computer this way & i must say its very easy to do.

  • i have just discovered something Great about this phone. when the phone is shut & the display has disapeared, if you press the outside volume up & down key the display shows up again, so thats solved the problem of always having to open to see if you have any missed calls etc, you can even see the time when pressed. GREAT

  • i got this phone yest in pink & its great, the finger prints are not that bad & a wipe with your t-shirt soon sorts them out. the outside is harder than you think i have already dropped mine & no chips or scrathes on it (thank god).very loud ringing tune of which you can use your own music, the camera seems good. people are commenting on the display disappearing so you have to open phone to check for messages or missed calls, i had the nokia 6131 & cause it had a key lock which set after phone has been shut for 1 min you still had to open to check if you had any messages or missed calls. so far am very pleased with this phone.

  • I love this phone very much.. loud ringing tone.. (I use to set up to level 8 for z530i) but for this phone level 4 is loud enough for me... But the external front catches fingerprints easily... Overall.. I would give 8 stars out of 10..

  • I don't think the phone is too girly for a guy...the black would be just fine. Because the size of the phone is not too small which makes the phone girly. There is an option for answering the phone by flipping it open or press the answer key, you can set it up according to your preference. And I think you would only be able to use the phone if you have either T-mobile or Cingular.

  • use this phone since 3 weeks. works perfectly so far. great phone, for me the best-looking 3G (UMTS) phone currently. Mirror screen not as prone to scratches as expected. All features that I need (or even more), easy-to-operate menus, good battery (4-5 days), excellent display, good quality of microphone and loudspeaker. I am very happy with it after absolute frustration with Siemens-Benq EF81 before.

  • I just recieved the black one of these phones as a test for the US and I have to say, this phone is working great. Music sounds good, sony ericcson offers lots of free downloads for this phone and the phone is simple to add music to. Great phone, not too many features, gets lots of fingerprints but the mirror on the phone makes it hard to see that from most angles. I bought this phone on Amazon for the return policy. I dont think I will be returning it though. :)

  • I've had my z610i for about a month now,the surface although as fragile as it looks, it can be kept clean and scratch-proof. If you are a fan of text messaging, the buttons take a lot of effort to push. You can use normal headphones instead of a bluetooth headset to listen to music/use handsfree function, it plugs in the charger port. The screen could have been bigger. Also when you receive a message/missed call, it flashes but after a while it blanks so you would have to always check to see if you have any messages/calls etc. It is quite a loud phone and mp3s can be used for both ringtones and message tones. The white interior is new to the UK market and reflects the designs of those in Japan more. I love the phone, it is very stylish, only the pink one is available in the UK at the moment. If you aren't bothered about features as many people don't as they come to realise, the main things that are used are bluetooth, camera and mp3 player, then I would really recommend the phone. Definitely a fashion accessory. It is not just a girly phone but can be stylish for guys blue/black. 8/10

  • This 'cheap looking plastic' apparently...supports Push Mail and RSS feeds...but how can someone say that the design is bad? I think its the coolest design so far from SE. It's quite contemporary and relevant to the lo-fi, atari pixelated art aesthetics. I really wished that they could program a way for a full SMS to scroll on the external display w/o having to flip open....and erm...It will be alot cooler if there is Pac Man being chased after the Ghosts or other 8-bit graphics as a screen saver for the external display... and since the Bluetooth is v2.0...a bluetooth stereo headphones will make it oh so heavenly...

  • I dun own this model. But I'm impressed and at the same time curious how the 2nd display (external) works. Is it a LCD? I could not see the outline of the LCD at all. Like it has perfectly blend in.

  • if u live in the US think twice... I'm a brazilian living in the US and I bought it from amazon.com... it already arrived with defects and i called sony ericsson and they told me there was nothing they could do since this phone is not commercialized in the US. then i called amazon and they will send me a new one since there is less then 30 days that I recieved it... Very pretty but think twice if u live in US...

  • thats the problem, we don't have any 'consumer complaint' forum. I tried customer care and the best i got was an email id, from which i've never heard. Its true the phone is very good, but I thnk feature wise its alrite... not that much value for money. The z550i is cheaper, has better functions. 3G is of no use, since the technology is not in India and many parts of Asia. And by the time it comes, this will become an old model!

  • juz bought this fone recently.. the battery cover is a lil tricky, however u juz hav to push in the middle slightly n den slide it out. the camera is 2megapixels. which is pretty clear.. n the mp3 quality is still acceptable. NO fm. 3g fone.. i dun tink the camera u use for 3G (inside) can be used to take pics.. (havent found it yet.. dun tink can) the colour is great. mine blue :)). yes, gets fingerprints over it all the time.. just wipe with a cloth or sth n all disappear.. quite scary.. afraid might get scratches. looks quite easily to get scratched. lol. well, i love this fone!

  • i simply love it! the best is that i can record the conversation i had with anyone and listen to it afterward..really cool!this is my 1st time using SE as before this im a nokia loyal user..the functions are userfriendly..simply superb!

  • the battery lid is a bit tricky... u gotta lift up the lid from d 2 ends (the speaker n d other side) do not try to to push/slide to open. use yor nails to lift it up.aftr a bit it open up.

  • I bought the phone from a reputed mobile exhibition in New Delhi. The phone is good -smart, light, decent features. But the sony ericsson people at the exhibition LIED to me about FM! I was told by 3 different reps. that d phone has FM, infact even the panflet had FM listed on it! Such outrageous act has left me with a bad taste at the end of the day. Also the mobile pack that I received did not contain the CD which is supposed to be there with every phone. I've got no response from my repeated emails to sony. Calling customer doesn't help as the rep says that I don't have any 'Proof' of being lied to! can anyone suggest some effective way (consumer courts are long and tedious).

  • simply a ridiculous mobilephone. it hangs oftenly....i have bought it in november 2006 and have change it with the shop for THREE times.... it suppose to be fast and not slow...however it hangs alot and especially during gprs and mms and browsing.... finally i change it for k618i and this is even better...

  • Ahsan ... if you are on a 3G network why would you need EDGE?? Also, try comparing apples to apples. Compare the K800 Sony Ericsson with the N73. Puts it to shame camera wise.

  • hi u just have to push in slightly on that little notch up on the back in the middle. and then slide. yea it takes a bit of effort. i was pretty rough with it when i tried to take it off =/ but i absolutely LOVE this fone. its a MUST HAVE for any1 who wants a phone that has superb design and user friendly interface. camera isn't PERFECT but is forgiveable. =]

  • The 'i' may stand for international, but that doesn't mean that there's a difference between it and the Z610. The Z610 and Z610i are the same thing. Z610 is just a generic name given to all Z610s in the world.

  • Z610i supports Chinese. Z610 doesn't.

  • The screen protecters do nothing, sorry u need an ugly case, yes the i stands for international, no difference. The back is a pain, make sure your fingers or the cover is not greasy, sweaty or wet n be persistent n u should get it off. If not take it back to where you purchased it from n get the store to do it

  • If you want to protect the handset from scratches you will need to purchase either a claer hardcase, a skin or a leather case. Wanted this phone but there is no real upgrade from the K610i so it wouldnt be worth it.
