I agree, I have DOWNGRADED a few months ago from a Samsung S7 Edge since I never use half the power or features, M4 Aqua has everything I need, Rooted + Custom Rom (Concept-ify) is all I need/want. The 8GB space IS NOT AN ISSUE if you root + custom rom, you can use an app like Link2SD to integrate updated system apps which saves A LOT of space and you can move 99% of apps to SD with no issues at all, I have a few apps on phone still and at the moment I have used 6.70 GB of 8.00 GB with all apps updated to date.

Now I am having this device for 4 years and it performs okay and has a great display under sunlight. The only problem is storage option of 8GB. Better if you opt. for 16GB model. Camera also works fine.

2GB RAM and 8GB memory is the whole memory on the phone, part of it is used by the installed system (andorid) thats why you have less space available, but if you want you can buy a micro sd card with up to 32 GB to the phone and have more space.

totally bad with signal. i can barely get 3G networks while in a huge town. if i go outside of it (3 kms outside of it) i run out of signal. At countryside I don't get any kind of signal with this phone, not even 2G while other phones can get even 4G networks with no problems. not recommending this phone, the memory is almost dead, only 1 GB left space for installing apps.

Works great. Problems and solutions: Biggest problems are overheating and low storage space, but i solved it by using lite versions of apps and for games installed gba emulator takes little space and brings back memories. And camera is slow. Battery life: I charge it daily but if used rarely can last up to week.

Totally crap. Crappy thermal design. Overheating causes motherboard damage like signal issues.Camera really sucks (i carry my Lumia to take pictures). Camera crashes after a few seconds because of overheat. And trust me front facing camera is better than rear facing camera. Don't even buy this phone second hand. Planning to switch to second hand/used iphone 5 because this phone is so unbearable. I dont even mind storage issues. Software is pretty much incomplete.So much bug in sw. There isnt any otg support even PMIC and Charging IC supports otg. Phone is so easy to bend because there is NO metal in this phone except ultra thin mid frame. Great thing is touch sensivity. It is perfect. Only best side of this phone. And yep this phone is extremely thin and light.

Sony phones seems to have a very limited lifespan. I have been using M4 Aqua for 2 years now, no more warranty and that's where all major problems popped out. First, the battery is swelling and I have tough times searching for a new one. Secondly, intense overheating problem. Thirdly, headphone jack completely stopped working. Forthly, extreme lags almost all the time eventhough I have cleared all apps usage data and restarting it. Does not worth the money that I paid for. Shame on you, Sony!

I bought this about two years ago. Lately just after the warranty expired it got mayor issues! Backcam fell out, shortly after ther also the front camera. Can't remember a day when my phone didn't tell me it would run out of space. In the first month i could install up to 8 apps - now only 3 apps have space next to useless preinstalled apps that can not be deleted of the phone. What a smart setup, great job Sony. Also my microphone wont work properly anymore. So basically, i can't call anybody, can't do pictures or videos, can't load any app to my phone. First world dropout. - Just please do yourself a favour and don't buy this phone.

After using it for 2 years without any major issues apart from intense overheating, the phone suddenly fell into a bootloop. Used Sony software companion to repair the phone but to no avail. The phone is happily resting inside my drawer whereas I am sadly using my old Nokia 1616 which was bought back in 2010 and still runs like a champ. I vow never to buy a Sony phone again!!!

I've been using this phone allmost 3 years now and am very satisfied with it. The best feature is it's Stamina power saving modes which are very efficient. I have to recharge the phone only in very 10-14 days and still the phone is able to receive phone calls and text messages without manually checking them. I can but it even more freezed mode but then it will be manually controlled. It's thin.

Don't buy this brick, is the worst phone I've ever owned out of the 15 I've owned. After half a year of use, I had to factory reset it, even with MORE THAN HALF RAM totally free, it'd work pretty slow, force closes everywhere... Half a year later, the waterproof-seal from the SD slot just fell off, removing the MAIN FEATURE OFF FROM THIS PHONE, and the mic got damaged, it sounds like an old TV with no signal. Around 9 months later, it fell from around 80cm and the screen got damaged (Not broken, but it has some strange lines everywhere, and brightness is higher than before). Just a few months later I CAN'T EVEN USE IT TO PLAY MUSIC, since the app won't work well, and the volume button sometimes won't work unless screen is on. Not to mention the battery life (it sucks in Lollipop and it's even worse in Marshmallow, with a minimum of around 2 hours of power and a maximum of 6 under low usage-just for music), the heating (You can litterally BURN YOURSELF JUST FOR USING THE CAMERA, which will eventually auto-close after about 5 minutes due to OVERHEATING) and the low storage (get ready to have a 95% MEMORY USED notification every day-I've even gotten a 99% MEMORY USED notification). Sony has made good phones, like Xperia S (indestructible, Ouystanding screen quality with AWESOME direct-sunlight readability, Good performance even with low RAM...), but this was a true mistake. I've gotten a phone which is HALF THE PRICE of this one and works like a charm after a year of usage.

I've had it for almost 2 years and it's the worse mobile experience I've ever had. Months after I bought it, the motherboard stopped working. The charging socket is always malfunctioning. The speakers won't work during calls. And the final blow, the screen was suddenly off, the charger socket - even after fixing - didn't work well, and I believe many other issues were there.

I've used this device for about 1,5-2 years now and this is what i think about it. Pros: Decent performance - can do every day stuff and simple games/apps; can't do high req. apps(lag). Decent battery life - lasts 1 day if i use actively and 3-4 days if passively. Not expensive -i bought it as second hand device for 100 eur, but currently you can get it for approx 70 eur as second hand. Cons: Annoying camera glitch- can't relate to all of these devices but for some(including mine) has rear camera glitch that makes it temporary shut down (black screen with error) due to overheat or after using camera 10secs-1min. Call sound quality- during phone calls sound is absolutely terrible, i can hear my own voice often aswell often person at other end cant hear me at all (no, this is not due not checking settings). 8gb hard drive- this is just not enough because android itself takes like 4-5gb, even with sd card it lacks memory because cant install apps on sd without configuring etc. should of been 16gb ;( Bloatware- yup, bunch of bloatware. Overheating- sometimes it does overheat however i don't feel it due to case but i know it does. Overall - if you consider buying this device as new phone for yourself - don't do it. Hardware failure ratio is too high aswell as it's only 8gb storage.

Ever since my M4 Aqua updated to marshmallow version 6.0.1 when I connecting it with my car's bluetooth (KIA RIO 2012) I have problems with my calls! The people on the other line can't hear me...my voice is hearing too low! I have tested the car bluetooth with Samsung Galaxy S6 and galaxy S8 and are working perfect? It's obviously a problem with my M4 and version of Android. I've done reset but nothing changed. I have talked with Sony at my region and they said that's is not Sony fault. What can I do? I wanted to buy again Xperia but I am afraid that I will have the same problem at the future! Anyone had the same problem?

I use it one year and finally give up with Sony. The build quality is good, quite solid device. However, the inside is terrible, I did all of the trick to expand the memory as they did not unlock the Android 6 features to use sd card in installing apps. But always not enough memory and lags sometimes. The Gps is not accurate and slow. IF you use this phone for basic demand, it is fine, no easy broken at least. IF you want to install apps, faster device, it will destroy your mind soon.

Honestly, not bad phone at all, but this storage issue is something that drives me crazy. The only app I got on my phone is Viber and those built in apps. All photos, videos, music, everything is on my memory card, and still can't get more apps installed because of lack of the storage. There is nothing left to transfer. Don't know what to do. Now, a year and a half after using it, there are some blinks on my display from time to time, and some weird sound when I watch some online videos. Other than that, the phone is ok.

No, my m4 Aqua lagged with maybe 5 to 10 apps installed (the small storage doesn't fit more). My iPhone 7 128Gb with 148 Apps is still completely fast and fluid

Been someone who always drops there phone in water some way or another the water resistance is also fantastic.

This phone is what caused me to never ever recommend Xperia phones to anyone. This phone is so fucking sensitive and I dropped it twice: the first time I dropped it I broke the LCD screen and it had to be replaced, and couple of weeks ago I pressed slightly harder on the back and the motherboard died (probably because the replacement screen wasn't glued properly, and it also caused my rear camera to stop working). I wouldn't recommend this phone to anyone because I think for nearly 300$ (or about 2100HRK) you can so many other phones that are way better in quality and in specifications, mostly Samsung and Huawei.

Have it one year and am super satisfied.I use it also as a variometer as i am a paraglider and it comes very handy to be waterproof also.The ips display is readable at 2500 meters in a sunny day. Hope it will continue to be so usefull for me since there seems that waterproof models are out.

I have a M4 aqua, worst phone i have ever had! I've had it for 18 months and it constantly turns off. I am using it for business and while on the line with a client it will reboot. SONY you need to do better. after this i will definitely not be buying another Sony again. i would understand if it was an old phone, but im still in my contract period, i would send it in to be fixed but lets get real.... its going to take over 2 months, with no guarantee. Bought it shortly after release. Worked well for the first year and a half, but started to suffer progressive hardware failures. First the ear speaker went, and then the notification light, followed by part of the ram, leaving it with only 883 MB usable. That being said, it was subjected to numerous minor impacts and falls, and never properly broke. It worked well for me, but I figure it is probably outclassed by some of the newer phones in the same bracket, and would not recommend buying it now.

Mine's finally cracked after 1 and a half year. no problem for a few months after the crack, but then it keep bootloop-ing when restarted. always got me to reinstall the software through pc companion, but phone keep having problem that it needed to be reinstalled again (apps closing, xperia homescreen closing, etc). before, it was the best phone i have since n-gage (ikr). i don't know, maybe its life range lasts only about a year?

The waterproofing is a good feature, camera is average quality, it doesn't lag at all, good screen quality, overall a decent phone, only downside is the small 8GB storage, but not an issue if you have an SD.

It has a tendency to overheat when using it. The glass has a propensity to crack even when it falls onto a couch. Save your money and avoid this phone completely

Quality phone gives impression it costs more than it does, only 2 faults is internal memory is not very big so u are constantly deleting data as not everything can transfer to memory card. The battery life is good until you use it heavily. But on a whole it's a good phone, camara is best I've used.

You have to try factory reset, on backup and reset menu. Before that, you have to backup all data on your M4 Aqua. Then, reset within battery more than 80 percents condition. After restarting, and back to default, please uninstall unnecessary apps you want. Don't update few google apps product or else, it just ruin out of your storage. Then, after uninstall few apps, your storage will increase. Not many, maybe just 3,2 GB average. Then you can install apss you want, and notice some apps that can be move to sdcard to keep your internal storage from out of space. Good luck.

It's a decent phone, I've tried marshmallow and it has a bad sound. So I went back to lollipop 🍭 and rooted the phone so that I can remove apps I don't use and increase the memory.

Awful phone. Simply awful. Even though the RAM and processing power are decent, who puts 8gb internal memory, of which less than 3 is usable? I mean seriously. Aside from that, the SD card can't be used as an internal memory. All this makes the phone slow as a snail. Each time I need to upgrade application, i need to delete other one to free space. Additionally, the camera is pretty bad, and the battery life is too low. Not to mention it takes hours to be fully charged. Awful phone, do not consider buying it. Not worth the money. There are much better low budget phones out there.

I have this device from its first week of release and still no problems (and i am using it for games very much ,over 5-6 hours per day) , about the heating issue ...after 1,5 years the battery lost 10-15% total power and at the same time the device does not overheat anymore , the battery has a problem not the device itself , too much power for a slim battery causes the overheat ...

I've had it for about an year (since my previous Z3 compact broke its screen for the 2nd time). This was easily in the top 3 of worst mobiles I've had in my life (taking into account comparable phones of its time). The 8GB memory limitation is a nightmare. I am very unhappy with the Xperia M4. This phone has been repaired twice under warranty as there is a problem with recharge function. Even after being repaired twice under warranty Sony would not replace the phone. The phone has again lost its recharge function. It is a lemon and I will not be buying another Sony mobile phone after their poor customer service.

Do not buy this phone. After a year of using it, my xperia protection enable it self after draining my battery. Xperia Anti Theft Protection has a bug which you cannot activated it even entering your correct account and That was my case so I brought it into the nearest service center to unlock it. They fixed it and successfully unlocked my phone. Worst case is that it is only just the beginning. After unlocking my phone, it started to misbehave. System starting to stop responding, SIM will randomly stop working etc so I brought it again to service center. Once again, they fixed it, they've managed to have my sim signal back, etc.. After a month of using it. It happened again, same thing system not responding, sim is undetectable, no imei, worst is my xperia keyboard is not working too.. So I brought it for the 3rd TIME. ONCE AGAIN THEY MANAGED TO FIXED THE PROBLEM. After using it again for 3 months same thing happened! problem become worst. The main OS is not responding, I've got blue screen, loading screen takes 30 minutes then crashed. I will not bring this phone anymore to service center. Im gonna buy another brand and wont use sony product anymore. This is a warning guys.

Phone is not bad, i'm using it for a year now. Wifi connection is poor so im using data (to avoid the hustle of turning everything on and off). Storage is always full (I have sd card and everything moved to it but to update one of moved apps: 1) uninstall updates 2) update the app 3) move updates app to sd card 4) install updates again. ) Call quality isn't the best. (people often don't hear me well). everything else is good. Phone rarely lags, gps is good, phone fell down quite a few times but screen didn't cracked.

I have this phone since January 2016. I didn't have this many issues with any other phone in 17 years (in June 2000 I bought my first mobile phone). I sent my M4 it to be repaired 4 times in the last 14 months. I'm not dropping it, I didn't put it in water, even to test it if it's really waterproof. The secondary microphone get's broken, you can't use the microphone while on speaker (for example when skyping with video people can't hear you), I've had that replaced 3 times. The earphone plug is not working anymore, I'm not a heavy headphone user but I would like to listen to some music occasionally. The GPS reception is just horrible, keeps loosing connection even when it's set to High Accuracy mode. 8GB storage is almost insufficient because you get only 4GB of free storage, the other 4 is for system. I bought the phone believing SONY can't be a bad choice, but guess I was wrong.

I had the phone for over a year, with an over all great experience, although I have a couple comments on it: It gets REALLY hot on the back close to the charging port. Camera is really slow to pop-up when you select the camera app Overall audio of the phone (When listening music, videos, or on a call, weather using speaker or not) is very low. Back cover scratches really easy, unless you use a cover, but since the phone heats really easily and high, it is not recommended to use one. Frontal camera is quite bad. System still works good for me. Barely no crashes or whatsoever. Definitely a great brand but looking forward to a change in the near future.

Wouldn't recommend it at all honestly; just a waste of money on my part. It's worth a mention that I don't really take a lot of care when it comes to tech; I keep dropping it and such. I've had this phone for about a year now. PROS: +Nice build; pretty sturdy from what I've experienced. I drop my phone A LOT and it has only gotten 1 crack from over a year. It's worth a mention that I have a crappy bendable plastic case for it; saves the back from any scratches. +Main cam is great. Captures the detain very well, even in dim light. +Waterproofing is p well done for a low-end phone. Makes showers and walks in the rain a better experience. CONS: -There are a ton of built in apps that you can't uninstall, you can only disable them. Takes up MOST of the built in storage. You have to constantly "clear cache" to free built in space. And you can only transfer a handful of apps to your SD card. Getting the 16GB version doesn't help. -Front cam sucks under anything that isn't wonderful/natural lighting. Shutter on both cameras are slow as hell, hardly use it because of this. -The back part, near the camera, gets hot really fast, especially if you're using a lot of apps, playing a game, or watching a movie. And not the "normal" kind of hot. I mean "it becomes too hot to touch" kinda hot. -Gets really laggy over time -When immersed in water, the touch sensitivity gets really messed up, also the audio jack takes a few tries to work after that. After a while though, it fixes itself. -Take note of the low RAM; you think you might be okay with it, but you won't. -Audio jack doesn't work sometimes; gotta take a lot of tries before it works properly again. -Crashes/resets for no apparent reason; this also includes apps. -Battery. Takes a while to charge; turning it off doesn't really help TL;DR: Not a good phone. You can buy a high end phone from ASUS/OPPO/HUAWEI for the same price, even cheaper, and have an infinitely better experience. Waste of money. Only good thing about it is its waterproofing, and it doesn't even do it very well.

This is a good budget midrange smartphone with the durability of Sony. I've tested this on water for 11 mins and guess what? All went out good. Only the speaker became a bit low, but after an hour the normal loudness came back. Headphone jack and charging port worked as they should be-- even without those flaps. There's also no moisture build up in the camera front and back. Sony did a very good job with this phone although the storage is what brings it down. Make sure to get the 16gb version and your money is worth it.

I'll never go back to Android. Sony now f*cked up for me. This is the worst phone I've ever had. It also lost 3/4 of it's value in one year, so reselling doesn't really make sense. Even the practically unusable Xperia X10 mini pro was better back in the day. I would rather use an iPhone 4 or 4s than this, and those are sold on eBay for like 50 bucks. This seems to be similar to ZTE Blade S6, which has been advertised as the "iPhone-killer". Don't trust it, they lie. It's a low end phone in disguise with too high price tag. crappy phone, mine died after 11 months, heated up like hell, think that all soldering melted and messed up, I dunno how much cpu, motherboard and other components takes, but mine heated up over 70 Celsius degrees. so short review: no space, poor performance (cpu overheats over 65 Celsius without doing to much to it), overheating and very unpleasant to hold it in your hand except winter when is good to warm your hands and no concerns that it will freeze on -15 Celsius degrees outside, poor wifi, dies before year 1, camera is so so(I had a cheap Chinese phone that made better pictures) the good thing is that is water resistant, but how it helps me if the phone is dead

First week or two the phone really did heat up vrery fast and it felt like it will explode, but after that, it never happened again, never. Battery is awsome, it charges at the beggining slowly but nothing too bad, but again, later is all fine, it charges very fast, it lasts all day even though I personaly use it alot throught the day. Camera is sooo good, its literaly the best. Its fast, and it's a very good looking phone. Mine came with 8GB of phone storage and that means you can have around 50 songs, 4-5 apps and 100-200 photos + documents or any other things like that. Idk why other people had 3, 3.5, 4.5 GB and I have/had 8. But I don't know what's the problem in that, you can always buy SD card and transfer all of the date from your phone to SD card and there will be no problems. Overall, this phone is great, it has everything that person who doesn't really care about all of the "deeper things" aka most of the people.

Great phone, does all the usual that a smart phone should. very thin, internet is quick, has a quality feel, watertight. only drawback is the internal storage. sony/andriod system takes up 4GB so only 4GB left with is too little even with microSD card. Great value for the price.

I've owned this phone for about an year. And I can tell you it's pretty rubbish. They haven't released an Android v6 on this phone wich sucks. Also this Snapdragon is good at multitasking and things like that, but it's overheating constantly on doing basic tasks like watching YouTube or charging the phone. Never go for the 8gb version, the phone filled up really fast for me. I don't really like this Sony'ish Android, the original is way better. And don't get me started on this 2400 mAh bettery, barely lasts a day for me. Camera is alright I guess, got some semi decent photos. The speaker delivers a pretty distorted sound, and is pretty easy to cover up. Screen is alright, bright enough to front face the sun. Well yeah its waterproof, that's a plus, but i thinks that is the only thing that was focused on on releasing this phone. Would not recommend it, there are way much better options right now !

I bought this phone some days ago and it is a big mistake. The phone lag in apps like subway surfers or my talking Tom. The game like real racing 3 is unplayable. The phone have lag even when you are typing. The internal storage run out even when you have 5 apk installed. The best part is that the phone is water proof, believe me I have tested it, but the speaker and the call speaker have to be dry to work again well. If you want a good phone with a acceptable performance you should choose another one. P.s:the phone has the latest version of software of Android 6.

This is only my opinion and i respect yours. Its worth the money and it is an avarage good phone. My m4 aqua doesnt overheat that often, but sometimes it does. And tbh the camera isnt the best but it is like meh. My m4 aqua is upgraded to android 6.0.1 marshmallow and i feel like it lasts longer than on android lollipop. It didnt last nearly as long as now even tho i always had the stamina mode on all the time but i dont even use it anymore. But im still going to buy probably an iphone 7 plus, depends on what iphone 8 is like.

You bought this for calculated € 212... Man. I have this phone, it's not worth € 100. I would directly change it for iPhone 5s if someone offered it to me. No 6s, 5s. It has 8 slow ARM A53 cores, under clocked by Sony, probably to avoid even more overheating. Flagships use these cores for light tasks like mail or messaging to save energy. GPU is also lowest of the low end. And I thought I would have been scammed when I bought this for € 279 at release. I already mentioned the shit material used at the back which gets discolorations and deep scratches even when using a case all the time. That camera... I would rather have a potato, I mean my iPad mini 2 has a iPhone 4s camera and that one is better in every aspect. People, be smart. Been using the dual sim version of this phone for 4 months now. Never had a problem, using about 11 GB of internal memory and Updated to Android 6.0.1. The best phone in terms of use and functionality with regards to price. For 850 AED you get dual sim, 16 GB, IP 68, android 6, slim (7.3mm thickness) form factor, underwater vidoes, etc. I wont exchange this phone for even Iphone 6S. I suggest to those who experience heating problem, avoid using any casing or just use those so called "bumper case" only, that way the back and front of the phone is open. Updating to Android 6.0.1 eliminates problem with battery. My phone last 2 days on normal usage (half the time, connected to wifi or LTE data). Using stamina mode last up to 4 days maximum.

Awesome phone! I have no idea why the hate foe this phone??? After marshmallow update, this phone is mega, for the money ;-) camera is great, when hdr is turned on its amazing quality. Even at night, its flash is enough for nice night portrait or landscape...Do not do gaming, and when surfing the phone is cool and no where near to say its hot on the behind. Camcorder is 1080p, 30fps, just awesome, and I can stream it directly to my smart tv! This is my second sony phone, next one will be sony for sure...maybe z compact series ;-) I assure everyone to buy this phone and update it to marshmallow. Only downside of this model is the 8 gb storage, so grab a 16 gb if you need it ;-) Cheers

You talk shit. Camera is just bad because of artifacts, autofocus not present, noise, not much light captured and all these typical sony camera problems. Watch the newest camera comparison of GSMArena. Best part about Xperia XZ camera is that it's front camera is good. Build quality is far from excellent. Here some problems: - plastic frame and back - wiggling volume bar and camera button - back gets messed up even when using case, on mine something happened I would call discoloration. I also used it once without case. Result: something like hairline crack above camera, just not as bad because it's plastic - back sticking out at the frame with sharp edge - back can be pressed in, you can even feel the components - dust gets easily between screen and frame - earpiece and mic speaker (which imitate the Z3 stereo speakers, but actually aren't) also get dust in them but you never get it out But the battery is the only thing I can't complain about. Speed is also bad for the € 279 I paid for it. And of course these faaaaat bezels make this phone as big as some 5.5 inch phones. It's maybe pretty to look at first glance because it has design similar to Z3, but quality wise this has nothing to do with Z3. I'm happy when I'll be able to switch back to iPhone.

I received mine in August. It's pretty good for its price (got mine for around $72 because of my subscription to my provider). At the end of August, I got the Marshmallow update on it as well. The phone was pretty fast at first and it didn't get any slower since. However it has 3 major problems. I will address them now and provide a few pointers to help you resolve them. 1: It gets hot if the CPU usage remains high for about 30-90 mins depending on the load from apps. Getting a good cleaner app to shut down unnecessary processes help, but still it's pretty bad if you want to play on your phone (I usually don't play on it, but you may damage your phone if you play more than an hour so make sure you play about 30-60 mins max then let it cool). At least it doesn't catch fire. 2: The hardware is pretty good, but the battery isn't really suited for this kind of load. You can't really solve this issue. I usually copy stuff on mine every day so it's charged from my PC on a daily basis. If I don't do it, battery lasts for 2 days max under my normal daily use (about 1 hour use of music player, all-day sync with WiFi and BlueTooth SmartWatch). Constantly using Stamina Mode makes it 3-4 days for me, but it disables background sync which kind of annoying at work. 3: The storage. 8GB internal storage from which 7GB is taken by the OS (6.0.1) and apps you can't delete. Even if you get an SD card, it won't let you install everything on it and Sony disabled the SD Adopt feature from Marshmallow. How to solve it? Get a fast SD card (I got a SanDisk Extreme UHS-I U3 32GB). You can find how to force adopt feature on your phone here (http://android.stackexchange.com/questions/1465­13/unable-to-adopt-sd-card-as-internal-storage-u­sing-marshmallow). Do note however, that M4 Aqua can NOT adopt larger SD than 8GB (the commands will fail). So if you have a larger one, use mixed for partitioning (I use mine with "mixed 90"). You won't use more than 8GB for internal app storage anyways... Also note that the storage interface will be a bit bugged and I recommend doing a factory reset, installing your must-have apps to internal and then doing the SD adopt to avoid phone slowdown. After it's done you can transfer your apps to external if you get nagged constantly for low storage (because of the bug). Just make sure you don't remove your SD.

It's just a really bad phone, wouldn't recommend to anyone. Very poor camera, very slow and always out of memory, music sounds like something from 90s, and worst of all - constantly losing net/wifi connection and needs to be rebooted. This is very nice when you don't notice it and miss all your mails and whatsapp messages for hours. I truly regret buying this phone, although I've been a "loyal" Sony customer for years.

This phone was a serious mistake. to be fair, the battery life is excellent, as long as you don't use it. But the bloatware installed when it arrives means I literally can't run more than a couple of apps at once without having to delete them. I have to chose between Skype and Kindle, I can't have both. Possibly because of the 8g memory, over 5 is system and most of the rest is taken up with essential stuff like contacts, it's incredibly slow. I don't even bother using it as a camera. By the time I have the camera open, the cat has gone away. If it was possible to remove some of the crap on the phone, I might like it better. As it is, I'm actually hoping it gets lost or broken so I can replace it with something else.

I got notification that my phone's storage is 85 % full. I don't have that much stuff on my phone. There are some built in apps that I cannot remove. I have only had issue after issue with this phone. I'm not sure what is the bigger problem with it, it or sony's repair centers. Each time I have it repaired they send it back with more problems. First it would blue screen and had a broken GPS, so i got it "repaired", it came back locked to Vodafone and with terrible WIFI signal and the first problem solved, so got it "repaired" again. Then it came back again with basicly the same problem as in the first place.

As I wrote before, I had a Bluetooth connectivity problem with car handsfree after Marshmallow update. Contacted Sony Xperia support. They recommended to switch off this feature Settings > Call > Microphone noise suppression and everything work correctly. So after a year of using of this phone I can't find any drawbacks. If you use it only for calls and internet it is one of the best budget phones.

I just bought last month at the mall, I think all is ok then I upgraded it to marshmallow. But only one thing that ive experienced when it was up to date the starting up of the phone takes more than a minute unless if you have long patience. The battery life is well-good depending on power/phone setting and usage. No prob with the camera. All you have to wish is the responsibility of the delivery and the retailers/sellers, what i mean is how they handle it with care especially in shipping times of their items. Hope this helps. The waterproof phone is not actually waterproof. I got drenched in rain while the phone was in my pocket. when i reached home water was all inside the screen and speakers. Sd card slot and sim slot were closed in max possible way. the screen is black now. Service center said sim slot is not properly closed so warranty void. its funny to be cheated in such an awesome manner. sony phones not worth the price.

I suggest you to not buy this phone! The first day i bought it, it kept switching off without reason so we sent it back to repair and they told us that the battery was bad so they had to change it but then the same problem happened. Plus it's overheating by playing just a game for 20 minutes or like watch a video. Also i had some sound problems, the music was playing from the speaker once. And when i put it under the shower it didn't work properly. So yeah i don't know if it was my fault but i do not recommend this phone at all.

When you can get it to a good price (around 100€) it is pretty ok. Best things about it are looking and screen. Worst things are camera, material used at the back and update support (which is normally bad at budget smartphones and devices which aren't iPhone or Nexus). Speed is pretty ok at that price, but don't expect too much of it's 8 cores because they are weak.

Okey, but with one thing I can't agree. This camera is NOT good. I compared it to iPhone 5 (same price at the moment so same range) and this has a way better camera. M4 Aqua has less details, faded colors, very slow trigger time and worse image stabilisation. I only didn't compare autofocus.

I'm using M4 about 5months and i have priblems with my mic- when i'm talking with someone he/she doesn't hear me. It fixed by itself but sometimes it comes up again. I've seen some people have posted negative comments about Sony Xperia M4 Aqua. Before accepting that, we need to consider about those facts in clear mind. I've been using Xperia M4 aqua since 1 year now, Its a good phone, which is worth for its price. When compared with other phones (in the same range) in the market, M4 Aqua is a cheap and well performing phone. Its come with 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 Octa Core processor and 2 GB RAM. Its camera picture quality also good. The company says its waterproof boot, but it's not 100% waterproof. I've taken some underwater photos, after a few minutes it got restarted, but no issue yet. In my country (Sri Lanka) we have Sony agent and service providers. So nothing to worry. I've got 2 years local and 1 year international caring warranty. But this can be different in other countries and regions. Especially in India, there are lots of defects and duplicated items. One of my brother bought a SAMSUNG S6 and SONY Z3 in March 2016, by the now both phones having lots of issues. So when you buy please don't depend on user's reviews. You must visit the shop and see who its good or bad. And also keep remembering to buy from a responsible dealer or agent. Otherwise you can't get after services and warranty claims. In the local market, there can be lots of shops, who is selling it cheaper than the dealer, but my advice is don't buy !!!! If you have already bought from a such shop, please don't post any comments saying it's bad phone. Otherwise, you will mislead others who wish to buy it. And also when you compare a device, please keep in mind to compare with products in the same range. I just bought this phone and the loudspeaker is so low. Even if with Clear audio activated. The sound is poor and low and distorted. i passed from Xperia E1 (which bring 100db) to xperia M4 and the sound is very low. outside sounds extermely low . and the bass is amplificated if you know what i mean . from the middle of the line volume to maximum line there is no difference , no louder all. The M4 Aqua is nothing but trouble. Barely a single feature is reliable - I lose cal history every few days, the touch screen is intermittently responsive, and now I can only hear calls by switching to speaker - otherwise it is silent!! Wish I'd never bought it, and all Three do is get me to do a factory reset, which doesn't work!

The Sony Xperia M4 Aqua qite frankly is a waste of money. I bitterly resent purchasing mine, an 8 GB version jam packed full to the hilt with indelible pooware. Of the 8 gigabytes that come with the phone, only 822 megabytes remain unallocated. This means that if I install more than 50 meg of apps, music, etc, the device can't even update itself. Build quality is fine. It's not ugly. Support is OK. However the device is crippled by parsimonious allocation of hardware resources and the inclusion of 4 gigs of "sony family" pooware. Give us a break Sony, the average user could not give a rat's dropping marinaded in weazel vomit about the "Sony experience" minus two million stars.

It has a sufficent battery life and good speaker for out and about use such as music. As of overheating, its not a big problem as it is made out to be, and for anyone choosing to buy this phone, i would say go ahead

I've had nothing but trouble with my Sony Xperia M4. Almost immediately it started saying insufficient memory. I bought a micro card with 16gb on it so loads of memory I moved my pictures and apps I'd down loaded to the micro card and it still says insufficient memory to download any new apps so I can't use Facebook or play music as there's not enough space! It over heats constantly and I don't have a front camera icon so it won't take selfies. I was excited when I got this now I'm disappointed unfortunately I'm tied in to a 2 year contract or I'd change it. I've been back to EE they said take it home link to laptop do a factory reset etc. Tried everything still no good. They won't take it back and swap it but they are now sending it away for repair. It wasn't included in the update, so the phone remains to be unusable even after the update if you don't do the trick manually. My wife bought a OnePlus 3 to replace her M4 Aqua, she couldn't be happier to have a normally working phone! Highly recommended to get rid of the M4 Aqua while you can still get some money for selling it.

To those people who are saying its a bad phone well all I can say is yes at some "point" not all of it is actually bad, the over heating issue is yes indeed a mess the software itself is also kinda messy (android L 5.0) no updates has been given to that point only some minor updates from sony itself, Android L 5.0 has shown problems even to other phones who run 5.0 version of lollipop, but it was fixed from the update 5.1.1, version 5.0 has a memory leaked which is super bad, alot of lags especially games that are not even power hungry at all. but when Android M 6.0 came out and it has been out now if you are not checking, most of the problems were fixed and the software runs smooth, you can actually tell the difference from before and yes even though it`s look almost as 5.0 version but android m indeed fixed most of the issues occur.. the over heating issue will never be fixed because its a hardware fault not software.

I also don't like this phone but I have to make some corrections - This isn't a decent phone for price. The value of this phone is really bad (but I believed in the marketing about octa core and 2 gigs of Ram while it's only reaching about 30'000 points in a tutu (or 37'000 since Marshmallow but still only little above iPhone 5 level) - It is waterproof, they even say you shouldn't take it into salt water because it destroys the sealing - Battery is the only thing I like about it. And 20% in 30 mins isn't much. I remember my iPhone 5 with battery draining iOS 8 and old backup on it lasting less than 1 hour - The screen doesn't even have a small border. The bezels of this thing are huuuuuge. Some 5.5 inch devices are smaller than this 5 inch device - I don't think viewing outside is that bad, other phones aren't better but this is pretty ok because Sony phones are very bright. - Back of it is soooo bad. I have scratches or more like strange discoloration which look like dirt all over it, completely full of this. It also is full of fat from fingerprints. But it's not slippery. It's more like the sides are slippery while they are way better quality than this mistake of a back

I downgraded to this last month. Its fine. Stick a 32 gb micro card from tesco in it for a tenner and it's golden. No problems with overheating.... But I'm not ten? I love the Sony music player. It Let's you share music more easily than android or vlc on the handset. Pretty impressed by it IMHO ;-)

So my wife's M4 is breaking down after one year of careful usage. Camera won't work, we already did the factory reset and cleared camera cache as well, but seems like the common Sony-problem - bad hardware/build quality. This was her first and certainly the last Sony-phone for good. The phone hasn't even been dropped once and she has always used with a protective flip-cover.

I understand you but I also own it and there are some points I have to disagree 1. It lags. It doesn't lag that much as many say and it doesn't make it unusable, but few times it lags, that's it 2. The Camera on this phone isn't good. When I want to make a picture, I don't refine 10'000 settings before I do. I just press a button like on many cameras also. I compared it to iPhone 5 and it was worse. I thought tech evolves that fast that a mid range from 2015 could beat a high end from 2012 but with some things, that is wrong. But of course you can live with it. 3. Just for information, back is not glass. It's plastic with a worse quality than the much appreciated plastic frame. Mine got many discoloration while I thought that was only possible with matte plastic :D

Had my M4 for nearly a year now and I have regretted every day with it. I thought I was upgrading from my Xperia V before this, but this has been a massive downgrade. Issues I've experienced: - The first one I got's flash broke within two days. - The keyboard lags - The phone overheats under mild use (I don't game on it) - The camera in the day is average at best, while at night takes pictures that would make a Blackberry's pictures look like DSLR pictures. - Taking a picture takes so long that the moment you're trying to capture is already a memory (a bad one, seeing as the memory is now replaced with your frustration at the phone not capturing the memory in the first place). - When the battery runs down completely and you plug it in to charge, you have to wait a good 5-10 minutes before it'll switch on again. - At around 6 months ownership, the front speaker stopped working completely. Haven't bothered to repair it as this was the final straw with this phone. Went back to my 2 year old Xperia V and haven't looked back since. - Getting the SD card out of the phone is near-on impossible. Had to stick a pin in to hook the SD card and drag it out. None of the Sony-recommended methods worked. In fairness, the positives about the phone: - Nice-sized screen. - Slim design. - Front camera is a great upgrade from that of the V's. - Long-lasting battery. - Viewing videos/streaming on it is a good experience. - Dedicated camera button is a nice addition. - Power and volume side buttons are easily identifiable. This phone has put me off Sony phones completely. While I do still enjoy my Xperia V, I'll definitely be taking my business elsewhere next time I upgrade.

Hmh.. I have this phone for a year now, and its true that it gets a bit hot after 5 mins of games like Unkilled and Modern Combat 5.. But I don't have any problems like need to restart, things stopping to work.. After a year its still waterproof too.. Don't know about you guys, but this phone was worth every penny I gave for it. Plus, there 6.0 update on PTCRB now, so we can expect it in less than 30 days ^^

I bought this phone because I was impressed by characteristics on paper and reasonable price. Never again, Sony... Samsung was worth every cent I paid. t is not a good device at all, it is a fail if you ask me. Why? Here are the problems I hadso far: - Overheating - even simple browsing on the web rises temperature significantly. If I open several pages, it gets worse, but if I play around, take a fewphotos, if i edit them, and do some other things, it gets really, really annoying. - Camera - as several users posted here already, camera is super slow, and if this is 13MP, than I was born and raised on Mars. My old Samsung Galaxy S3 makes better photos for sure. - Auto rotate - I have to restart the phone almost every day, because the screen stops to rotate. It does not help if I switch the function on/off. - Too sensitive screen - after I end a conversation and put the phone on the desk, if I "look" the screen, or literally ( tested ) blow on it, it starts to call back. I called back many many people. so you have to switch the screen off with a push on the side button ( on/off button ). - Which leads to next issue. Because you have to switch off the screen every time you stop using the phone ( otherwise the lightest touch does something... ) it often does not switch off the screen, but wants to switch off the phone. - Often camera function freezes. So you can not exit it, and you have to use the side button again. - Pre loaded apps are... useless mostly. - Battery life is not as good as advertised I could probably find other issues if I thought very hard, but all this thinking is... well, overheating my phone... :)

It's performance in antutu is 30'000 so not that good (Galaxy S7 and iPhone 6s have about 130'000) 7. yeah hahaha that was promised. Now Nougat is in beta and still no marshmallow for M4 aqua 8. Battery life is pretty good in my opinion that is the only pro I found for it after more than 1 year of usage :D So don't look at the specifications that much. Many of them are only for commercial (like octa core but performance of 2012 or 13MP camera but worse than 2012)

Better purchases for that price range are: iPhone 5s (good update support; used) HTC One M8 LG G4 (but I heard it has a boot loop problem, if you don't want to risk that, buy an other phone; sometimes there are good offers for it, if not used) Nexus 5x (very good update support for an android) Galaxy S5 (used) LG G Flex 2 Oneplus 2 (not sure about the price in other countries, in Germany it's 400€ but it should be 200€ I think) Xiaomi Redmi 3s (newest)

Lol no camera of this phone is so bad. I compared it to iPhone 5 and that made better pictures. And it's also soooo slow. It needs 5 seconds to take a picture with Sony camera app, with google camera still 2,5 seconds. So if you really want a phone with a good camera, don't buy that phone.

Honestly this is the worst phone that i have ever had. I bought this phone because the company advertised it like some type of God phone. for example,they stated that it has 2 days of battery and that i can watch my favorite movie 36 times in a row, but i struggled to get through my day barley using the phone. after about 3 months of me owning this phone the microphone on my phone unexpectedly broke down and i had to talk to people on the phone through speaker. i called Sony and they told me to factory reset my phone which was a struggle to save all my stuff to my PC. after i reset my phone, i noticed that the phones microphone still did not work. Sony then told me to sen my phone to the repair store and promised that i will have it back in 2 weeks. this was a struggle because i had to use a flip phone that my service providers gave to me because it was part of the contract. at the time of writing this review, i have yet to get my phone back from Sony. it has been 2 and a half months and whenever i call Sony, they never give me a solid response of to where my phone is and when i am gonna get it back. i decided to buy the samsung galaxy s7 and have been satisfied ever since my buy. the phone is a little bit pricey but i pan on selling my sony xperia m4 aqua when i (or if i ever) get it back. also some other complaints of the phone is the overheating after 5 minutes of use, the extremely slow charge time, the terrible screen, and the tremendously horrible camera. also the phone is still running lollipop 5.01 when android 7 is in beta

This phone is the worst phone ever. mine has now been replaced for a new one 3 times. even the guy in tec support told me his son has one and they are crap. Sony release crytical updates that screwed it up first. then a new one. then overheated all the while and blue screened. then a new phone as it could not be fixed. then the camera dosnt work and keeps telling me no service no sim inserted guess wht.... a new phone .. these are crap do not buy one . I took advice of tec support. keep using it , keep sending it back eventualy they will run out of staock.. I will then recieve a different model.... The Reasons for buying this phone is the battery life ! The fact that you can really use it underwater and take pictures The Music sounds incredible (even Iphone 6s cannot match the quality believe me ! ) It supports 4G LTE and will get the Android 6.0 Update which is nice also it has 2GB of ram but you already know that anyway the minus is really the fact that sometimes gets hot and 8GB of storage are nothing (but SD card slots will do the trick. Basically it just gets your daily jobs done The camera could have been better... :/ But i would definitely buy this phone over huaweii htc etc. Samsung is a rival to this phone if you ask me a simple comparison is the S4 :)

The phone UI lags, the music app has reproduction errors, the task manager lags a lot, the brightness sensor sucks, the camera app is slow, the camera takes a lot to focus, the video stabilization criples the video quality, the MM update was promised long ago and is not yet delivered, gaming experience is horrible, underclocked cpu.The only good things about this phone are the water redistance and the design. As it is now, AVOID this phone 4/10 (I have had it for 4 months).

I have this phone for less than a year now.. all I can say is it`s a good phone for a mid-range level.. it does what typical day to day task, the very down fall of this phone is it over heats.. YES it does over heat, a lot especially when gaming is involved, there are also some games that does not run good even though it`s not even power hungry, battery most of all is a LIE it says on the advertisement it`ll last 2 days, sad to say its a falls advertisement, I`m not even a heavy user but the amount I get from battery is not fair enough.. by the end of the day i have to charge the phone, I get home and like the battery is in 15%, at first I was loving it.. then I came to like it,, then now I wanted to change to a new phone so badly.. I was hoping to get the upcoming Xperia X, judging from the video reviews of android authority it`s a good phone..? but is it really worth the buy? Sony could have gone using more than the snapdragon 650 of course less than the snapdragon 820 but should be above 650, I should say snapdragon 650 could power up the Xperia XA/ XA Ultra a snapdragon 652 perhaps or 810 should do.. but since 810 was used to power up previous flagship phones sony didn`t bother. I saw the Xperia X Performance in real life not just videos and I was surprise, they could have done better than 1080p, should have been QHD the latest processor is in it the 820 but it could have gone better.

Do you understand about this phone design. If there is back cover that is "thick", it will block several antenna that will need more power and generate heat. The phone go blank is in standby mode. Go to Setting --> Display >> Screen timeout - adjust to your preference.

That is the location of GPS antenna, which would not affect the overall of the phone. On the other side, it is the Wifi /Bluetooth antenna. Do not block both side on top, as any blockage will generate heat, as it need more battery power.

There is one method you can use to free more storage. Remove all apps that you seldom used &or to use it once in a while when necessary. When you really need to use the app which you use it once in while, then install. After using, uninstall the app. This is like having a temp storage space for to install to use, and uninstall when not in use. Theory, is that the temp storage is for those apps that you use it once in a while. There is no harm in this way, as install and uninstall will be much better. These apps' data which use a tiny storage space, and may not deleted. Hence, once you re-install the apps, the apps will have that apps' data, everything it there. Most apps you install & uninstall will be easily available to find. These apps are located in Play Store -> My apps and games -> ALL I don't think many user know about this options which benefit user like you. That is to uninstall those seldom use apps, and when needed then go to ALL to locate and install to use the app.

Have you adjust you volume of the sound. Behind is speaker. On top is to listen to the caller. Both are different. Normally, when waiting to connect, i use speaker to listen until the receiver pick up. When someone speak at the other end, i turn off the speaker. Most phone on top is the sound of caller, and put it center of your ear, and adjust accordingly. Try not to use speaker while talking, as mainly for music and listening to dally tone. Use earpiece to see the difference.

I have had so many problems with this phone.... First... My speaker stopped working. Then the camera stopped working whenever the phone was hot... Then my screen cracked without me dropping it. The crack was not on the outer screen, but only on the inside ... And i then proceeded to change the screen... Once that was fixed... Worked for a month and now it doesn't want to charge.... This is a low end & cheap phone. What do you expect. You just get one for a cheap price to expect the very best features. Then go and get the most excellent Song phone which is the Z series. After getting the Z series, you will love it. Sony is a good brand. I do not prefer as i am getting used to Samsung, Xiaomi, and any cheap phone to throw around and play games.

Awesome phone, lightning fast, display is exceptional, camera great outdoors and low light. It does heat, but its like really thin case, but with a basic silicon mask its barely worth mentioning. Cant understand why everybody bitches about this phone. For this money, you cant go wrong with the M4 aqua.

You can go to Apps in settings and disable the ones you don't use. It could save some space. Personally I don't use Google services, so I disabled all Google apps. I have some apps, and 1 GB-internal left for now. My device doesn't have heat problem. Perhaps it's rare, and Sony will repair it for you. It takes about 2-2.5 hours to fully charge from 15%. I use the stock charger. It seems you can charge the device with some other manufacturers' chargers, or via a USB cable connected to your laptop. I don't know much about hardware, but I think using the stock charger is fastest and safest. You don't have to manually clean up RAM. You don't need third party apps to clean up RAM either. The operating system will do that for you (I'm an Android programmer, I think that's correct). And from my views, you don't need any anti-virus apps. You shouldn't root your device, so third party apps cannot harm your data. (This might not be perfect, because there would be any security bugs.) My country doesn't have policies about carriers locking contracts. We buy phones at full prices. Sony doesn't put any weird/crap apps into their devices. I don't know in case of carriers with contracts, such as in the U.S. It's a good mid range phone for me. My last one was Xperia M2. I don't have much money, so this is my second phone from Sony. I have to say, Sony is doing a great job. I'm quite sure my next one would be another Sony Xperia. I think their products are worth my hard-earn money. Have a nice day :-)

I have had one as part of a contract upgrade for around four months. My main issue is the charge connection which is intermittent and has no almost packed up. A previous Sony model had the same problem. The phone is due to be sent back for repair, which is extremely inconvenient. It also gets very hot and hasn't much storage, otherwise it is okay. I would recommend purchasing one outright.

This is the worst phone I have had yet and I have only had it for a couple of weeks and I extremely regret it. I had read many reviews saying that for a mid range phone it was really good and I can completely disagree with all of those reviews. The first thing they don't tell you about is the actual amount of space on the phone. Every website I looked at before making the purchase claimed the internal storage is 8GB. Wrong in actual fact after the phone has been set up you only have about 1.5GB of space left. I inserted a 64GB SD Card but this barley helped me as very few of the apps can be moved over to the SD. You can stop updates of apps already installed but it won't help you much as you can't fully delete very many of the initial apps. Another problem I am noticing is that even if you sit for 5 minutes going through your emails the phone gets extremely hot that you don't want to be holding it, especially if you are on the phone and having it up to your ear for any length of time. Furthermore charge wears down very quickly my last phone would last hours of playing music with very little battery loss and the M4 Aqua will last maybe 5 hours but the battery will be pretty drained. It also takes a long time to charge the phone I estimate about 6-8 hours charging to get back to full battery. This is not good if you need to be contactable for the majority of the day. I have to keep constantly clearing RAM and cache to try and keep a little bit of space on the phone. Also the camera although it claims to be 13MP it is very poor the camera is exceptionally slow at both taking photos and also turning on. Even the slightest movement will give you a blurry photo. If you are looking for a new phone please stay away from the Sony Xperia M4 Aqua it has been very misleading as a good mid range phone.

With all the crazy stuff & people in the world you almost need a phone with camera and or audio at all times. If the phone was not use for a long period &or did not know the battery was flat. Try to put the charger and charge the phone. It required a few minutes then you can see the charging signal icon counting %. If you think it is not the battery, or you have done the above, do a hard switch off, by press + hold the On/Off button until it totally shutdown. This is force shutdown as the phone may be hang. After you can see the screen, do check all the phone setting for anything out of ordinary. Such as date/time & region not set. This will affect the phone performance.

Ok, so, im having this smartphone from six months and i am very pleased from functions this phone have. The strong side of Sony is the speaker. Realistic and full sound. Fast and smooth slides from the touchscreen. Very elegantly designed. Now the negative part. I have noticed that my gps signal is weak as nothing. Probably its very short antenna, that is incorporated into the smartphone. But i wait a planty of time, while the signal comes to my phone. When attached to the satelite the motion on google maps card is not smooth and has relative skipping. Thank you fotlr tour time.

Don't know why is there a lot of hate for the camera? Pictures are not blurry at all. It's really not bothersome, you just have to learn how to use it's camera and the focus time is not that bad. Only thing I should've done is buy 16GB model. There is no huge amount of free memory on the phone itself, so I have to install all apps and stuff on SD card. Overall, it is very nicely built. Less than impressed - I've had this phone for six weeks and after coming to terms with the memory situation (8 gig but uses over half for the operating system?) and repeatedly receiving texts to say I've missed a call when it doesn't ring, I have a new problem. The ear speaker works intermittently so when I make or take a call, I have to use the loudspeaker. After a visit to the EE shop where I bought it, I did a factory reset but it hasn't made any difference and as I've had it over a month, they won't exchange it. Obviously, now I am taking this matter further! Can't help but feel cheated when a phone struggles to perform it's primary function!

This phone was good, I will rate it 7/10, the battery for me was superb. My battery last for 4days only for text and a few calls and it last a day using wifi, data and gaming occasionally. The only problem for me or the downside of the phone is its internal memory 8gb variant sucks, you will get only 2.4gb free space. So if you planning buying this phone i strongly recommended get the 16gb variant, the front camera was horrible specially in low light or dim area, i really like the rear cam its good and decent. This phone was not made for a heavy gamer, after 10 - 15mins playing heavy games it heat alot. In the end for me in my opinion battery front cam the performance was good, the downside of this phone dont get the 8gb variant, get the 16gb variant, the front cam was horrible in dim low light and it heat a lot on heavy games.

If you haven't bought it yet, I know of two problems, i've put it underwater once for 10 sec and the audio output started sounding lower but it was just for a few minutes. And if you can, buy the 16 GB version because the 8 gb version, really has like 1gb

UPDATE: 5 months in - the phone has officially died, every attempt to turn it on is futile. The worst mobile phone I have ever seen/had in my life. The first time I switched it on, it started overheating and 5 minutes in - started switching off and on again, continuously. This has continued to happen, now 4 months in - sometimes it will just keep switching off and on for 30 times straight, without me even touching it. I am hardly ever able to telephone or use an app without it restarting. Sometimes the screen just freezes and it will stay like this until the battery runs out. I don't know if it's faulty series or what, but SONY - NEVER AGAIN.

Yes, there's an option that allows u to switch from front cam to rear cam. When open the cam, u'll see a small cam with arrow around it, tap on it and it will switch for u.. I'm also using the M4.

the phone is very good, but the camera is so shit. i didnt expect it to be so blurry and you can't focus unless ure gonna wait a whole minute. other than that, its all good, i hear a lot of people saying its very hot when multitasking, its not that hot, you can still hold it in your hand. its a perfect phone for its price, i even filmed a video inside a fountain. it is 100% waterproof, just check that your sim and sd card covers are on. very good phone! 9/10

Elegant design and the camera is just perfect. The quality of the photos is the best every detail is pretty nice, HDR is the best I ever seen you can take a picture of a sunset and the camera won't be blind about the sunrays. A lot of people sold this phone saying the camera is a shit obviously they don't know how to use its cam. Many people ask me on instagram which is my camera cause the photo's quality is pretty nice. I don't know why people say it has lag, overheat, sometimes I think they use it like kids, 30 apps opens, playing games at the same time etc. The performance in every smartphone will be a shit if you use it in that way.

I only own Aqua M4 for only a day. By now it's been really disappointing. 1. Internal memory is way too small and is already stuffed full by I don't know what. Could it be bloatware? But it's a clean Sony from retail store, not a subsidized phone. SD card is no help there. Before I owned Sony Xperia Z (C6603), which in theory has twice the memory - 16 vs 8GB, however in reality M4 has only 1/3, not 1/2 of the volume, since 4GB are already taken up by Android OS - so C6603 had 12GB left, where E2203 has only 4GB and quickly runs out of them. Moved all music, pictures, videos and apps to SD card, BTW, phone can do it automatically too, but that helped very, very little. Maybe it's because of all the updates to Android 5.0 that take up space? I don't know. 2. Glitches. When charging cable is attached and on, touchscreen works weirdly, perhaps it sees a touch as a double tap or something, anyway, it sometimes makes unlocking phone with a pattern impossible. 3. Headphones doesn't work, or rather, the left one has sound, right one doesn't. Tried with three different headphones including original Sony earphones with a mic that came with the phone. Besides sometimes even slight touch to the connector plug turns sound or video stop, as phone detects it as detaching/attaching 3,5mm connector. So, I'm not saying it's a substandard piece of crap, not yet, but I'm close to it. At least it works as a phone! But so does a phone for 1/12 of the price of Aqua M4. Well, OK, I like how it looks. I can play a game, not many games, just a game, a single one, the one that fitted on it's meager internal storage and got sent to SD card before only aprox. 450-340MB of internal memory were left. I can look up maps, take pictures (camera is rather slow, however, I don't remember shutter on C6603 lagging this much) and browse the Internet. Also I can watch videos and listen to music, but only with my left ear, unless I use a wireless speakers or headphones.

I just bought this phone a week ago, i'm a sony fanboy, i admit it, (previous phones, Sony Ericsson Live with Walkman, Xperia S, Xperia C3). but this phone really annoys me.. it overheats when i play games, especially when i'm connected to mobile data..(clash royale).. this phone sucks at gaming..my previous phone, xperia c3, can handle "samurai vengance II" with ease, no lag and has a very good frame rates.. but on xperia m4, that game stutters, a lot.. below 30fps for such a simple game that a lower spec'ed phone can handle smoothly.. (xperia c3 - snapdragon 400, and xperia m4 - snapdragon 615).. even 2d games stutters.. another thing is, it has no OTG, i've purchased a mobile DAW and now it is useless. I can't say anything about the camera.. i just don't really care.. they look the same so.. look for some reviews for the camer.. CONS - DISPLAY, it's bland, the colours don't have the punch of my previous Xperia's, it is more on the yellowish side, Reds are not punchy, yellows look weird. Maybe i'm used to the screens with bravia engine, the colour seems to be natural and not oversaturated, but... i like a little bit of oversaturation to give a photo or movie more life..Pixel density and resolution is fine.. you won't notice any pixelation unless you put your phone in your face. difference with Full HD is still noticeable - No OTG!! my Xperia C3 got OTG so now i know the difference and importance of having an OTG support. - Overheats! (*using mobile data and while having some background apps that needs internet) *it is really hot but not as hot as my gf though - there's a bug on mobile data.. it won't connect for like 5-15 minutes. no matter what i do, whether i put it on airplane mode, changing Mobile Data to LTE, or just WCDMA. restarting the phone and shutting it down for few minutes won't help either.. - Slow, android 5.0 is slow, buggy, and eats a lot of RAM.. but i hope this will drastically change after 6.0 update - Wasted GPU, sucks at gaming ..i hope this will improve with 6.0 update.. - UI is pretty smooth, but i always encounter stuttering here and there.. again, my previous phone xperia c3 android 5.1.1, with lower specs is almost or a bit smoother in some areas. (maybe because of the OS), and zenfone 2 with SD 400 is smoother..what the hell.. - the back plastic can be easily scratched.. i got hairline scratches two days after i bought the phone i really don't have any idea where i got them, and i was really careful with this phone. i got a case now, so i don't worry that much anymore. - Internal Memory, i got the 8GB so, there aren't enough space for heavy games and apps..luckily, i don't install tons of apps..i can live with 8GB, with almost 3GB available for user. - Weak Loudspeaker. it sounds a bit muffled, maybe because of the waterproofing.. some notification tones can't be heard easily. PROS - BATTERY LIFE, though my xperia c3 has better battery life, the difference is small but noticeable. but better than iphone or other android phone i guess. - WATERPROOF!!! (i tested this phone, i put it in a tub, wash it on the sink and nothing happened... just make sure all the FLAPS are really secured.. it only has 2 flaps so don't be lazy to check them before you dip this phone on water, or else, you get a broken phone. don't worry about headphone jack and charging port, it is waterproof..for dumber readers. make sure it is completely dry before you charge it..) -STYLE, i like the design, it looks expensive and well built. - UI , i'm a fan of Sony's UI so... - Software Update, it is planned to be upgraded to Android Marshmallow (6.0). though, the update is still not given to the users, at least we have an assurance of Marshmallow update until the end of the year.. - RAM , from a user came from 1GB of RAM, this 2GB is a breeze of fresh air..i can multitask smoothly.. maybe 4-5 apps and you can go back and forth in each apps smoothly.. Sometimes some of the background apps restarts, but it just happen when i open Browser with few tabs opened in background, having Spotify, Hangouts, Youtube, Album, Messenger, MXPlayer, Video Downloader with tabs also open in the background. I don't use FACEBOOK app so, i've got plenty of free RAM PRICE - It is priced lower now, and i deal for people on the budget.. waterproofing, Marshmallow update, and good build quality is worth every penny.. BUT the software... sony is getting better in software updates so i guess, this will change..

Never owned such a piece of garbage. First problem was hardware, camera was unable to focus on close objects, meaning it could not scan a barcode. Then there was the GPS - the signal has been lost so many times. Tested it side by side with LG and Xiaomi phones, they all had great GPS signal, but not the damn M4. My daughter got one too as a gift. Same problems, restarts, freezes. Another unhappy colleague of mine - this time it was losing phone signal, I mean - literally no bars in the heart of the city. Piece of garbage, get rid of yours as fast as you can.

If you feel the phone has overheat, just stop doing anything on the phone for a few minutes. In the way, it will cool the phone fast. If you use phone case, check the case you are using. Some case may be partly cause the phone overheat situation. This include if using power bank.

I've been with this phone for a few months and it's a good phone. waterproof tested, plunged it into the bath tub and put it under tap water, it's still working fine! so long as you know the s.o.p! 😂 sure it heats up, but not overly so. if it overheats just put it to rest for a bit. never used it for hardcore gaming for I always prefer gaming with the PC. although the memory is a little cramped but it's no problem for me, I only installed the necessarry apps. been a fan of sony for years now 😜

Android Update may not increase phone storage. Also, update could transfer some apps file size from internal to SD card. If you are watching the (Android) updating, then after update have completed, the next phase is optimizing all apps for using less storage space.

Just w8 few seconds and black screen will turn off to end call ( depends on phones it takes even 0.1s to 2-3s )

Currently bought a xperia m4 aqua 8gb yesterday and seems to work fine with me. I used galaxy note II before and cant compare how much powerful this m4 aqua to note II Well the only problem of this phone to me is the internal memory which has like 2gb left for downloading app purposes. (Maybe rooting this device will generally give me idea to which apps should not be in this phone). For the comments i saw here: All of the main problems you encounter with the unit is only from you guys. Battery life?, Easy Drain?, Extremely hot? (Yeah i admit. This phone was so "HOT" and I like it very much) - It's because you have activated everything on the phone (ex. Bluetooth, Mobile Data, etc.) all at the same time. This is the only phone that I use that didn't Overly temper-ant while charging :P Because of its octa-core helps its Stamina Mode (Just like computers with Power-saving) to endure much time being used than being charged. If you keep on using Power-Bank while its on stamina mode, you just help your unit to explode into your hands. *LOL* All in all for me its 9/10 just because of trash built-in programs. One more thing to sony: Can't you just give your phones with stock apps and let us download everything that we need in google play?

I got 2 phones which is xperia m4 aqua and a galaxy a5(2016) In my opinion xperia m4 aqua is such a great a phone because i dont experience any lags with it, compare to my A5 it usually lags when playing,browsing or what and its ony 2 weeks old unlike the xperia which is 3 months old. So I FULLY RECOMEND XPERIA SMARTPHONES!!! Great for gaming, does't lag and most of all great camera.

It has a great camera and I like that it's waterproof. But as a phone it is almost completely useless: if you make a call the screen goes blank so you can't end the call. The memory is far too small, and if you add an SD card you can't transfer much of the data or many of the apps, so i has very few other uses. Overall, this is a complete water of money.

If camera suddenly stop working; due to heat, battery level low, memory low. Heat problem is most probably due to too many apps running. Don't forget that listening to music &or video would also affect the heat of the phone. Battery is one of the main cause to increase on heat. Don't charge & use the phone at the same time, as i always see people using the phone while using power bank = Heat. Feel the phone hot, then stop using the phone for a while.

You need to do reset the phone. After reset, it will definitely have much better network connection. Wifi - 2 bands. When you switch on the phone, it may detect 2.4GHz first; just switch to 5GHz. I did had network issue, but after reset, network issue is gone.

I am planning to buy a budget phone for about 10 to 11,000 pesos/ $220 that lasts more than a year or 2 years. Is this phone good? My mind is blowing because of postive and negative comments. Hello I have problem with this phone. I see only black screen, it seems like it is working in the background but i see nothing. The problem began after puting it on charger (the original one) and after second usage of the phone. It is relatively unused and new. I chose to purchase the Sony M4 aqua. - Besides the extremely poor, de motivated and incorrectly advertising from the Vodafone store in Dandenong, Melbourne AUS, I thought, lets be individual, lets experience the amazing technology Sony puts into their handsets, lets switch from iPhone to Sony after 8 years.... - So after being thrown the phone and sent on my way after having experienced the most de motivated smiles sad service ever from a staff member who has clearly given up, I went home and spent the night setting up this device and further purchasing apps to copy across my number from iPhone to Android. - The handset is now set up and ready to use, but before I could get excited in my new found android freedom the crashing began. - Not once, not twice, not thrice.. It occurred for every single thing I wanted to use - The joke got to the extent where I started to film the patheticness occurring - For the first time ever I sent a complaint email to Sony mobile and even called them the next day to discuss my disappointment and the customer service rep did not give a damn, he told me to choose another brand. - Where is the customer satisfaction from Sony? - Seriously I feel like I got married and instantly found out my wife cheated on me.. the trust is gone and Sony basically has no apologies or retention for that! - I've been in the mobile industry since 1998 and have been a Brand Ambassador for Sony mobile in Melbourne VIC AUS, but I've never experienced something so disappointingly heartbreaking for what I thought was going to be fantastic. - Sony mobile a word of advice, after over a decade of the same issues, either fix it once and for all or forget about making mobile devices because the jokes over now, its 2016, no ones got time for your crap anymore. I'm using e2303 Xperia M4 Aqua (8GB). I'll work from the outside to the inside. Chassis: back looking very good, camera placed similar to IPhone, but flash is below. The ring around the camera is not too fat (like on Xperia X or M5). Flash has no ring around it, which also looks very sleek. The Sony logo is placed at the mittle and the xperia logo at the bottom. They both have a mirror finish. Unfortunately, the back isn't made of a good material. So it gets little scratches very easily and also doesn't feel as good as glass. Furthermore, your hands are getting sticky if you don't use a case. The sides are better. I read that the black one has a better, grippyer finish than the other 2 colors. I have to admit that there is not that much of a difference between the feeling of these sides and aluminum sides of other phones. The 2 flaps for SD and SIM card slots have a little indentation for opening them easy. In the micro SD slot, there is also a little piece of paper with model numbers and that stuff so they don't have to be on the back what I'm really appreciating. I also think that the flaps are a better solution and should also be used instead of these slots where you need a SIM card needle (like at iPhones). The micro USB port and headphone jack are not using flaps. The placement of the micro USB port is ok, but many other phones have it at the bottom so that is a little bit odd. The placement of the headphone jack is simply perfect at the top. But I once had the problem that my mobile thought it was a headset connected, but it wasn't. So sound also didn't work. Happily, it worked again a couple of hours later. The speaker is at the bottom. This was just a simulated limitation by Sony because the two grills at the front could also have been used as stereo speakers like at xperia z3, instead u r getting a poor mono speaker. So here a clear dislike. When you look at the front, the first thing you'll notice are BEZELS. the side bezels, top and bottom bezels are all huge. This remembers me a little bit to the times of IPhone 4. Anyway, there is again a shiny Sony logo at the top, these two grills which could have been stereo speakers, a little notification led and the relatively big front cam. Camera: First the good thing: the front cam. The front cam makes good selfies. It is an Exmor R 1/5" sensor with 5 MP. The video capabilities of it are max. 720p@30fps. (source:gsmarena) although, the Google camera app (which I'm using bcuz the stock Sony app is waaay to slow) says that I can even take 1080p vids. Now the bad thing, the back cam. Compared to my old iPhone, this is the main disadvantage. Colors are looking unnatural even in normal light. Low light performance is practically not here. It is able (like the front cam) to make 1080p vids at 30fps. It's ok, but I would have been happier if it could make slo-mo or even 60fps vids, but that is not possible. And also the time to make a photo is too long. My IPhone made photos immediately and needed about 1 second for processing. This one makes both at once. With stock Sony camera app, it needs 5 seconds to make that, Google camera takes 2,5 Secs. Performance: First of all, hard numbers. It comes to about 30000 points at antutu. My IPhone made it to 32000 points. So that's pretty poor for a phone which costed 279 euros. In day to day use, it is pretty usable. Often fluid, only sometimes a lag. But graphics is really bad. Simple games like clash royale work, but it already stops at subway surfers which is literally not playable. Conclusion: so in the end, this is an good phones, which has the main disadvantages in ground things. There is many more to talk about, like waterproofing or battery life, but these things I'll just say here. So waterproofing works perfectly, I often hold it below the water tip to clean it and also used it underwater 1 or 2 times. The screen is good, very bright, the main disadvantag of it is the relatively low res. But I think the sd615 couldn't handle a higher res thar well. Best of it is battery life, it holds up much longer than that of the iPhones, it feels like 3 times longer. The bad things are the graphics performance, the chassis which could have used some better materials like glass or metal, the poor back camera and the bezels. The good things are the processor performance, the awesome looking, the front cam, waterproofing and battery life.

I started using this phone since 15 February. Plese read my review carefully.So far my experience is like this... 1)Battery :Normal use with music playing and no Internet can make the battery last up to 2 days. But with browsing and gaming it last only 8 to 10 hours. Because 1.5 gb processor with 2 gb ram should work really fast. But it does not. Some times it becames laggy even thouh i have still 700 mb ram unused. 6)Design:way batter than others. 7) Music playing: Excellent quality in ear phone. Wait it has a major problem in audio playing. In every 5to 6 min the sound will ďrop for a second (like beep). 8)Audio: Loud ringtone. But while playing audio or video on speaker sound is low. Typical Sony problem. ( i faced same problem in xperi go,play) 9)call quality: 10 on 10 So make your choice. Its my first review. Do dont make any harsh comment. And i am a die hard sony fan and belive me i never use any phone except sony previously sony Ericsson.

The J5 has 1.5gb ram and that sounds good but TouchWiz (UI by Samsung) uses alot of ram. Something like 400mb on my s4 and it jumps around so, the J5 may be unstabke with software use and gaming. For which I suggest P8or P8Lite. Thanks. Hope this helped :)

It is a waterproof phone.. A big laugh on this..hahaha.. They are just lying.. If u r planning to purchase it than do purchase it from the Sony centre.. And tell them to prove that it is waterproof and if u will fulfill than I will purchase it..they won't do so.. Because my brother is having this phone.. I have this phone for more than 6 months now.. it performs alright.. sad to say I`ve been waiting for the new software update which Sony promise to roll out "ASAP" well.. it hasn`t came out yet.. the performance is alright why?? because it has the android 5.0 version and it sucks so bad.. lags a lot, games that are not so hungry on graphics lag so bad.. last update for the system stabilization only.. thought it was the software but no. The problem is that everybody knows who own this phone even me 2....the heating problem. The phone heats a lot. Authorised dealer told me that due to waterproof phone it heats a lot but expensive Motorola phones were also waterproof but those phone doesn't heat like this sony M4 aqua. I don't know if you already solve this, but it is related with the "ok google" settings. Go to google settings > Search & now > Voice > Ok Google detection and set on "from any screen". Apparently this feature deactivate the mic and speaker and activate it when you need it, but sometimes it doesn't gets on inmediatly (there is a delay). This solved for me.

I had this problem, apparently the the earspeaker separates from where it has to be to make contact and just doesn't work, it need's to be repaired by warranty. Overally I love this phone it's good enough to play games, facebook, calling and messaging, if it wasn't prone to earspeaker problem it would be a perfect economy class phone.

Unless your getting the 16GB version of this phone don't even think of buying this, battery life is good but the front (selfie) camera sucks, back camera is also not that great compared to a iphone camera. I currently own this phone and already experiencing many issues. Best advice get a Samsung S7 or a iphone 6S with a power bank, will save you a ton of time and other issues

j7 has 16gb memory ,m4 only 8gb and if you buy a sd card ,the dafult storage cannot change to sd card .So, you must after download into internel memory and transfer into the sd card,and the internel meory is so less is only 900mb because the android system is use many space of internel memory and you also cannot download too much apps and the apps will use many memory like fifa 15 or dead trigger2 will use you memory 1gb because some apps is cannot transfer to sd card and some apps only can transfer a little memory to the sd card ,some memory of the apps will in the internel memory,the camera white balance is weak,the colour of the camera is not so nice but is ok. This phone has heating issue on the of back of the phone only the up of the back is hot ,when use the playing game for 20 minutes,not a heavy game,only like shadow fight, it will be very hot, i think hot like 40 to 45 celsius.In my country Malaysia, sony m4 is a 8gb and 3G version not a 4G LTE Version.But i don't konw your country is 16gb or 8gb,3G or 4G LTE. Have this phone for a few months now and in general its great phone for that price. I mainly use phone for calls, messages and internet not heavy gaming or such things. Sometimes it heats up, yeah...And so? Its never been a problem. Only huge drawback is its internal memory, which is always full even if you store your data on SD card. It gets full already of android and Sony apps which you can`t uninstall, so you get that full memory message very often. But in the end my grade is still 8/10 if you use it as a phone not gaming machine or computer ;)

Well if you play heavy games it heat very fast and if you surf more than 45 minutes continuously then it will begin to heat slowly. Otherwise it is superb without any lag.

well, sony is poor in the intern memory, but m4 aqua can handle the water, I can say that, I own a m4 aqua, used underwater, the problem is the overheating, because is a waterproof and dustproof it got no holes to cool, in rest is a great phone. the back is easy to scratch, in my first 3 days of use I scratch it only by putting it on the back side, te back is made of plastic, if u buy something for back protection will do, so i'm saying the bad parts of sony, I don't know nothing about htc.

Black one doesn't look great. White looks better exterior. For men both are okay. But not the red. I must say white is the best. Red is next. Black was not good for some reason. It looks cheap particularly from the front. Back is good anyway. But if you buy white you have to buy a silicon gel case or back cover. It might get dirty.Xperia m4 is full plastic.

To check overheating problem Install cpuz app and browse the internet for about 10mins. If the temperatures of cpu sensors stay below 50 celcius( average or no overheating) Below 55 celcius ( normal little higher) Below 65 overheating it is not a huge issue 65+ serious overheating According to what I know all m4s heats between 55- 65 celcius under max stress in new firmwares. Initial firmwares heated up to 80 celcius. If it heats below 65 celcius it is okay.no serious problem.don't worry. The chipset or soc SD 615 is made to withstand upto 90 celcius. Now to check camera quality Ask the carrier for atleast 3 samples Check whether you get similar pic quality

M4 is better. But make sure the device the carieer is selling does not overheat and has good camera quality. M4 aqua seems to have different camera qualities through out the world. Some m4 aquas are problematic,but some have no problems. Only problems I could say is the internal storage issue which will be solved in marshmallow. Overheating issue , I don't think Sony can solve it without sacrificing performance. Well it is partially solved.but some games lag occasionally. Sony e4 handles games better than m4 due to this. If you are not a gamer m4 is good. SLow camera shutter speed,but camera quality is awesome. Display is fine, colors seems to be great specially in video playback,but contrast ratio sucks,.m4 has no otg which I guess cannot be solved. So even if m4 has cons overall due to the design, waterproof,quality it is a better device.
