i have been using this phone for 4 and a half years now. i have dropped it on the road and it has fallen from my table and hand innumerable times...switch off and switch on..it works perfectly fine. i have never taken it to a store for repair. the phone hasn't given up on me so far. I have been using it since 2012, upgraded to its latest platform JellyBean in 2013, and since working fine and great. I just need to reset sometimes and reinstall all apps. Still a great phone for normal use. If you need more than that, get a new phone with better specifications rather than try to improve its performance.

The same with S. I have Xperia SL and it still working after 5 years. Everything is working fine the only problem is at this point the battery is degrade pretty bad. It can't do anything much, like at 100% battery, browse internet via wifi, phone, watch movie, etc, pretty much I can only do one of those thing only about 1-3 hours max. I could order a new battery online for $14 and replace it but I rarely using it now and the price of the new battery is not really justify it (price is about the same as most current smartphone). I only using it for listening to music when I jogging in the morning now, since it pretty small so it easy to carry around. On airplane mode it can play music about 20-25 hours before battery completely dead. It's an ok phone but battery not really great since the start. I only wish it got micro sd card reader so I could put more music on it.

Been using since released. Best phone ever built. Battery still kicking just fine after years of use. Hundreds of drops onto ground. Was hit with a hammer twice, the screen magically (i swear) healed itself including damaged pixels at top of screen and spider cracks dissappeared. Still runs all the apps i need it to. I bought it to last about 5 years and it is exceeding my expectations immensely. Freaking, amazing. Sick looking. It isnt what is used today as i have a Z3 now that is the fastest you get. Sony all the way. Quality upon quality. Best price at the time as well. I can only wonder in amazement when it will finally choke and be replaced completely and sit upon my shelf of fame.

try flashing the system and doing a fresh installation of the android system. years of usage causes too much junk to b stored in the system cache which is the basic cause of over heating and lagging. its a common issue with all types of electrical devices. hope it helps you since it helped me.

Of course it is nice in use, camera quality is far better, fast touch response, sound is awesome, wi-fi speed is better and 32GB memory is quite much to store songs and picture. Only one problem is there, is since last 2 months mobile automatically switched off even battery is ful and it got heated much. Worst phone, when it comes to WIFI connectivity. This phone hangs very often when it is connected to Wifi. Phone will go to sleep mode which will never recover until you force shutdown :(. Fedup with this phone very phone ... 24K worth nothing when compared to other 15K mobiles

My SL battery dies quick even when is inactive, it overheat, the camera lens show fuzzy whenever I put on my camera to take a picture also the camera lens take long to focus and pictures come out blurry if the image slightly move and sometimes the phone freezes and I have no choice to force shutdown. These are just some of the basic problems I experience regular.

I have this phone. For gaming, it consumes my battery quickly. Lags a lot, it made the internal memory useless no matter how big it is (32g) because most of the downloads go straight to the 1.5g phone memory yet some are non transferable to internal memory. The problem with most sony phones is the frequent lagging. I have friends who used sony phones in the past and had this same regrettable experience with them. Apparently they transferred to samsung and iphone. I'll prolly do the same thing soon. This phone has amazing specs on paper and affordability in contrast to its head to head competitors but when you use it you encounter too many problems that would really have you regretting ever choosing a sony phone. Buy at your own risk.

Got something to say about this phone. After 2 years of using it, it still works fine for me. All I do to make SL work is to configure it like flash roms or use mods. I'm currently using Honami Style v4 and Im running on doomlord kernel. I use xposed installer for the mods. And I also overclocked the CPU to make it faster. Im playing Gangstar Vegas and got no probs sure it lags sometimes but what to expect its a old phone.

I am also facing the same problem... When I run ANTUTU Benchmark or CPU-Z app on my Xperia SL, Total RAM shows only ~670-680 MB. I seriously doubt that the phone comes with just 756MB RAM whereas the specifications mention 1GB. Sony is giving either wrong or incomplete information to mislead the buyers...!!! That might be the way SONY selected to boost up sales of Xperia Mobiles, rather than considering better handsets with good hardware n features...!

Had this phone for almost two years. Battery life is decent after some configuring. With the right charger it charges fully in about an hour. RAM usage is constantly a problem as your system only has access to a total of ~650MB (not 1 Gig), even after killing everything and limiting background apps to 3, you only end up with around 200MB to spare. The biggest let down however, and the reason I will not go with sony again is their lack of updates and their crappy bloatware. I'm still on Jellybean btw :/

It's a good phone, I bought it last year and it still works fine. Only issues would be that the micro-usb slot has a cover over it that snapped off after about 13 months use. This actually makes it easier to use. Also covers are really hard to find (not so much screen protectors). I wouldn't bother; the one I got just damaged it more. However if you're wanting a hardcore case for it leave this phone alone All in all best phone I ever got for the price ($350 where I got it).

You don't need to replace your battery. It's best that you use the orig battery and keep it. It is normal to smartphones that their batteries is draining too fast. It is only the same if you replace another battery. I'm using Xperia Sola and it's draining fast too. If you want to save more battery life then you may want to install a third party app that will kill other apps that running from the background. Apps/system apps that running in the background causes the battery to drain too fast. And I believe that it is runnning ICS. you might wanna also enable your extended standby mode in settings--power management. But if it is running on JB, it is stamina mode. This two modes will reduce the background activities if your turn off your screen. When Battery STAMINA Mode is on, you will still receive phone calls, SMS text messages and MMS notifications at all times.

You can choose Sony xperia sl for camera, phone configuration, design and other. But Sony xperia L is for android. Both phones are great. I recommend you to buy Sony xperia SL.

Xperia S/SL wont go further for any android updates .last update will be 4.1.2 , however if you want to use Kitkat , then go for xda developers there are ample of other Custom ROMS available for Xperia S/SL. I am using ParanoidAndroid 4.4.2 right now and its much better than the OEM 4.1.2 Let me know if you have any concern.

Very good phone , fast , camera is good and as long as you do not have too `much apps open it will be sufficient enough, battery is bad because the screen on full brightness takes a lot of battery so just keep backlight off and go to apps in settings and close unnecessary processes when your games start to lag and also screen needs a protector and it is quite thick but does a brilliant job!

Everything was good except for the lock button and up button for volume/zoom. I think it's a great phone, in the price bracket. The only drawback is battery time, but if you uninstall the two antivirus software(s) that came with it out of the box, it is reasonably good. Best features are it's hi-res screen. I've seen complaints about viewing angles, but i never found it any issue. I've also seen concerns with batter time - Mine runs for almost 1.5 to 2 days after I uninstalled the two AV software that came with it out-of-the-box. Awesome phone all round. No particular issues found.

You have to make sure you make all necessary steps to lengthen the battery. comeon we got a smartphone here, this is not a nokia candy bar that would last 3 days or 4. Keep our brightness down and make sure you dont overuse the phone. quit using while charging.

.98 update (tested) no lag in keyboard camera bug fixed battery performance seems improved a bit lag in home button ( response is low), but back button works fine ppl who keep complaint about battery drain, this is hardware problem, this can't be resolved through software update. though u could blame Sony for this awful battery in heavy duty phone.

Dude! I'm not experiencing any problem w/ my phone after the .96 filmare update. It runs wayway better than the .200 filmare update. Try rebooting your phone via PC Companion. But first, check how many free RAM you still have. Also check your video setup.

Hi, im from Myanmar and i already updated my SL with 6.2.b.1.96 software. Noticed the responsiveness of the phone when scrolling and opening an application. And also new command for the home button is working. internet via 2G is a little fast and stable at the moment(not yet tested during the peak hours).

Xperia Jb has lot of issues i gues,, mine drains too.. its been only 2 weeks i got the phone and battery with JB really disapointed me,, i downgraded my phone to 2.3.7 and the battery last 1 day for sure.. when i do normal cals or text without much browsing it lasts 22 hrs range.. so if u r not worried about ur warranty i sugest u to downgrade,, try ics first.. take care..

well if you want everything then you'd have to go for the topdog i.e. Xperia Z...and between these three it's a different story...if imaging is your priority then go for SL as it packs a beautiful snapper but it lags behind in processing power...don't go for clock speed & cores...Xperia SL has got dual ARM Cortex A5 CPU at 1.7 GHz with Adreno 220 GPU under it's hood wich is a no match for Xperia SP's Dual core Krait 300 CPU at 1.7 Ghz with Adreno 320 (same as xperia z) for handling it's graphical performance...if you can survive with 8mp primary & 0.3mp secondary camera then SP is the phone you should get as apart from camera SL is a no match for SP......cheers!!

SL is better in Internal memory (32GB) than V (8GB). You can't use external memory for app data.. So you'll have more memory for heavy 3D games on SL. And my SL battery is ok on ICS. I don't really need JB.

The main drawback is BATTERY life. It drains out like any thing even if there is a normal usage only.. Before JB update it was getting hot horribly & now that issue is fixed upto an extent.. but the battery suckss..!! :(

In a way you are right since you are using the JB. However, the cam performance of this phone on the ICS was all together a different story. While the latest camera software in T & TX improved the post processing resulting in to better detailed shots, it took away greater control from the user over the camera. In ICS or shall I say the previous camera software from Sony (without the Superior Auto) the user was provided with greater control over the cam. So if you knew what you were doing, you'd be able to get low light shots that can be breath taking and I mean that seriously as I have used the device in both JB and ICS. To explain that briefly, in ICS you could fiddle with the Exposure and ISO levels while in the Night Scene mod. This allowed the user to make better use of the camera and so some real creative shots could be made in the low to no light conditions. Ps. I hope that Sony brings back the good things there were in the previous cam UI including the Infinity focus mod in the video recording.

You can do it through "flash tool". If you know rooting and stuff then it should be easy other wise... So download the flash tool from the internet and flash the desired Stock Rom (ftf file) by following the steps given on any website that has such an info. You can get Stock Rom i.e. the FTF file from here, Hope that helps.

I have been using xperia SL for last 7 months. main problem is camera. Low light even with flash photos are horrible.Day time photo are good. there is a focus problem in camera at low light . You will get embarrased if you snap photos at low light. it's a not bad phone. just the sony firmware problem. the jb causing lagging prob for 1080p shoting. wats the point for update if it's worst than before. and since they r not listing sl in one of the 4.2 update, i doubt that will they going to solve the bugs in jb. in jz about one year time, no more further support for this product, and keep releasing tons of models. so i probably wont consider sony anymore for the nxt phone.

Check your display settings or get your battery checked at the service centre and also the charger. Hang problem never occured ever in my device since 5-6 months and i use dozens of apps all together, dont know why your's is hanging. And while for samsung?? dont take that name, it stinks... already suffered a lot due to samsung's 3rd class services. :)

@RAHUL- Nice to know that, I reuqest to to check your network mode, select GSM only and then surely this problem will be cured, because it will not search for 3g network which may be un-available in some areas due to provider, not your device's fault, It will savesome amount of battery and also the network will be stable... give it a try...!! @SUMIT- Same here, I'm also not planning to upgrade to JB @LT26II-SILVER- And please also tell that what were the number of frames you were getting exactly. Have you checked 19 fps property on your own mobile after recording or you just read the other opinions?? If not then I would request you to make a self recording and then check wether is it true r not. While for the backup you can check wether the bravia engine is enabled or disabled while you wer on ICS and now on JB and is there any kind of third party power saver application you are using for your device??

@AXEY- U r absolutely correct. My pal bought an s4 n it has a very common overheat problem, no proper backup and a third class material body. Even samsung's service is like hell as i have olready been working with samsung for quite a while. @XSL LOVER- It is available all over INDIA, try visiting authorised dealer's. While for the battery backup we all know how smartphones fail to give smart backup... but my SL needs to be charged once a day, with continous music on headphones while biking or gymming, 1 movie with full brightness and highest resolution file and little bit messaging and online surfing. ;) And yes You can go for the ION or ACRO, trust me sony is awesome, even the cheapest XPERIA TIPO has such a smooth interface with JELLY Bean with is out of the world, one advantage of SL over acro and ION will be that it has 1.7 GHZ dual core processor which is very effective while HD gaming and Multitasking and also makes the device hardware such powerfull to accept future large versions of android above jelly bean.

Do you mean to say that the video sometimes hang while recording or it is giving too less frames which may be noticable. dear , i will suggest u to go for update . previously , when i was using it on ICS , i was having pretty bad experience , i was forced to charge my fone twice a day , when i have read all the comments of ppl who have updated their fone , frankly speaking , i was also relucktent to update my fone , but when i did , its now working quite goood . now i charge my fone after 21 or 22 hrs . everthing is fine . yeah the cam , it looks weird for the 1 st time , but when u go to setting and appy them and then take photos it seems cool , not a major prob , if u r taking a pic in dim lite then u wil surely face the prob of red eye in SL , but wid good lite its perfect , umm and video of 720 p r running perfect on my fone , i have not tried 1080 , and yeah previously my set was hanging , i repaired my fone again so its better now . as compared to ICS , i m feeling JB IS FAR better .. but thats my view , go for update , i guess u wil also enjoy it

Install pc companion to your pc then connect it. when your phone is successfully connected, it will automatically show that there is an update for OS 4.2. Then you can follow the instructions and update it accordingly.

Im having problem with my xperia sl after the jb update. I can no longer change the lock screen wallpaper with the picture I want from my album, I could only change it if I will choose from the preinstalled xperia wallpaper. Why u guyz are worried about that u didn't receive any update in ur country. Why won't you try to flash the jellybean file of ur device.......it is easy and more secure way to update ur device....... First try to download jellybean official firmware from xdadevelopers.com.......the file will be in ftf format................install flashtool in ur pc and flash ur phone.

Hi there, i am a SL user in Malaysia, I've been using this phone for 3 months plus, this phone had some serious battery problem, the battery only can last for few hours (50% brightness, not using data), RAM is too less, processor is quite good, all games are running smooth, camera's quality is good, but bad during the night. The SL has lighter body, more ppi, sony's scratch resistant glass, timescape ui, 32 gb memory, better camera (12 mp back, 1.3 front), adobe flash support, and more colors. While SP has 4g network, .3 inch more screen size, corning gorilla glass, and HDR. But we have apps in play store that has HDR camera. As you can see we could expect more in SL. Pls. correct me if I'm wrong.

Good News, confirm Xperia SL will get JB Update, just now I go to Sony Center for some information. Confirm SL will get JB but the employee told me he also not confirm yet when Our SL will get JB Update, guys be patience and u will looking forward for SL JB update, I believe it very freaking wonderful!!!!!!!!!!!!
