It has Android 4.0.4. CoC needs 4.0.3. It would work but I wouldn't do.It will lag hefty (Snapdragon S1 is unusable in 2016) and that game on 3.2 in will be horror. I wouldn't even buy this phone. You can get a phone 50 times better for $100. If I already had it, I would install a Custom ROM from XDA. The lastest I could find was Android 4.4.4

If you wanna buy this phone - Please don't! I have it for last 3 years and it was good when I bought it, but now it literally stutters to load some basic applications... 512 MB of RAM is BAD. Also it is 320x480 which basically means you cant even watch videos in HD so your eyes will suffer. Just avoid this phone - There are many better options out there :)

its great for music texting and calling and for basic android functions but it cannot hold many games at all and lags a lot if you put them on.. max of 3 games id say.. ram fills up quickly and facebook messenger can be very hard to open due to laagging

I am using this mobile till jul 2013. its a good phone. excellent battery backup. Primary camera is good. i have faced 2 times of hanging and restarting problem till 2013. three types of memory. 1. sd card, 2. internal memory and 3. phone memory. phone memory has around 754 MB. initially all apps will be installed on phone memory and some of the apps can be moved to internal memory, no apps required for this. some times it will show low memory storage with around 70MB available space in phone memory. this does not allow us to update the apps.

Xperia tipo is awesome phone!More stylish phone!!The front design is really superb...but the rear design is very boring :(...performance of this phone is average due to low capacity of RAM(512MB)...Sony has made a good phone under 10k...it has been 2years now i have been using this phone......I did not face any problems regarding the peprformance of this phone....it only lags when we install more apps on the phone...the sound clarity and screen clarity is awesome!The rear camera is average but i would be better if it had flash on it...this was my first andriod phone..i love it even now!!!Thank you SONY for making such a wonderful phone...I am a big fan of SONY,the products manufactured by sony will be best always....but we should read the users manual clearly and we should know the DO's and DONT's of the phone....Some people simply complain about the phone without knowing anything of it!I know this phone lags sometimes...just uninstall apps which you use very often.Create a backup of all the apps and install it when necessary...it will surely speed up your phone performance....According to me a new version of tipo should be released with 1GB of RAM,1.2Ghz processor and screen size should be nearly 4inches...n some more xtra features like waterproof etc....

Been using this for over 2 years (bought on feb 2013), no problems until now..drop it many times, yes it cracks a bit on the side case (but not on the display) but the phone still works flawlessly. Touchscreen is still very functional and responsive..don't know how people complaining about this phone, yes it laggy coz of the hardware and the camera suck but in terms of functionality mine never breaks down.

put a 4.0.4 version in order to oc it. i got a 4.4.2, it was a bit buggy and i couldn't find an oced kernel that suports kitkat. search for sony tipo oc, i run mine at 1.3ghz (stock settings from the custom rom)

The stock firmware keeps the CPU from running well :) Try the Vengeance-Reloaded (Tapioca) v2 kernel, you'll be able to make it run at 1GHz, even to 1.3 if you feel it unconvenient ;)

I've been using Xperia Tipo since a year. I thought it was perfect, but no. It freezes a lot ,and it takes 3-4 minutes to open Facebook or other apps and some of them crash. It is smooth only when you don't open any app. A big NO for games , they always freezes a lot. The camera..meh. But anyway ,going to buy a new phone as soon as possible. :)

I bought sony xperia tipo single sim on July 2013. It works fine. Good battery backup. If I use it for talking purpose alone (~20min per day) in 2G mode the battery stands for almost 6.5 (six and a half) days. And almost 2 days with frequent usage of internet, apps, games along with increased call durations. Excellent in radio, music, picture and camera clarity. Provides seamless internet with good network coverage. I made video chatting with 2G network speed which is very nice. Well this mobile does not have a secondary camera, but i tried with primary camera. Internet with 3G mode is also excellent. Wi-fi receiving coverage distance seems to be a little bit less when compared with one of my friend's other company mobile. Speakers and microphone are good. Ear speaker is excellent for conversation, but not in speaker mode(needs calm surroundings to listen). Internal storage is enough. I've installed lot of apps but it does not make any hanging issues. Most apps are running fine. But facing troubles with subway surfers even after killing all apps. Hardware requirements may not be good enough. Initially i face trouble in galley. Like after transferring pictures/musics from PC, It does not gets updated in mobile even after properly removing from PC. I can't find any refreshing options in the mobile. Needs to restart it. But, nowadays i am not facing this issue. Launchers other than the pre-installed one, drains a little more battery charge.

Xperia Tipo is very nice lookig, slick smart phone. Considering that everyone is moving toward bigger screen, this phone is very tiny, means handy, especially dring travel/vacation that can fit into any pocket. Althiugh android version is still in 4.0 ice cream, it has almost any language supported. Yes, the internal storage has limitted size, but good enough for almost anything, I even use it for Gps navigation with offline map stored in external SD card. One important thing I have to say is, on very first day I purchased and start using it, I noticed something is wrong, it was so hard to use on touch screen, appeared to be too sensitive on some area, on the other area, no responce.... so drugging down icon was impossible, typing was not fun... but after I searched on net, it is very common and easy to fix. (basically, by some reason, touch screen needs calibration) by one file TouchFWTools.apk. after calibration has done, it works perfectly.

It's snappy enough if you don't install too many RAM hungry applications, such as multiple chat apps. A big no for games, but if you insist, you can maybe play casual games. Don't bother on the camera, it is as it is. The audio is loud and clear, thanks to Sony xLOUD. The screen is mediocre, but acceptable. Too bad Sony doesn't make 3" smartphone anymore, that was the main reason I bought this phone: small and gorgeous.

I have been using this phone from the past 11 months, and I should tell this, this phone has met my expectations..!!! TIPO ROCKS.!!! Even though the specs are limited, it works just fine and I love it. And all those who say that this phone lags a lot or it is too slow, here is the solution, Download an app called "Clean Master" through Google Play Store, and for every two hours or when ever you are free, just free the memory, it will boost your phone and performance will improve.. Trust me, it will work. Cheers.. :)

I used this phone for 1 year and 5 months. I have appreciated the stability and speed of this phone in all my past reviews. But my tipo's behavior changed my mind. My tipo never fell from my hands, and I always handled it with utmost care. But I am totally shocked how its motherboard stopped working yesterday after 1 year and 5 months of usage I went to Sony Center and they told me that the mother board has been destroyed..and that repair cost is 5000 o____O That's more than half the price of this phone My dad's Xperia Ion's 12 MP camera also started clicking blurred low resolution pictures, just after 6 months of usage. My sister's Xperia J's camera had to be replaced too for the same reason. Never buying Sony phones again

I have used this phone for over a year, and it works just fine. My hesitation about an ICS shouldn't be used in 800 MHz processor is not proven in this phone. The most important thing is the battery - it is just great, I can use this phone for almost 2 days without charging. Good phone with an affordable price.

Well I have flashed acid audio mod, all kinds of walkmans. The bass response is good for an average user and for the price of the phone but I am a very demanding audiophile. This phone has good sound qualiy with the JB Walkman port on xda. All other walkman's have the sound reduce bug in tipo.(sound reduces itself after 5-6 seconds) The stock music player is also good. But way too old.

I am using this phone till 7 month. Works smoothly all-time. I don't know who says that this phone get hangs! Sound is good. 800 MHz processor but work like 1 GHz. My gaming experience is awesome also. It can play asphalt 7 and 8, Real racing 2 and 4, GTA III and other casual games. Only camera isn't good. At last I can say worth buying.

You can find ported Walkman in XDA developers forum that can be installed as a normal apk. About the sound quality, just download an equalizer app from the Play Store. I prefer the one with the orange icon. It made my old Tipo sound great with presets and even has manual settings.

I have used this phone for 1 year, 3 months. I don't understand why people are complaining. It's super fast and all the games that I have tried work flawlessly. (like fruit ninja, temple run, candy crush , city jump, heavy games also) Camera is excellent when used outside in light. In darkness, it is not that good. Battery life is excellent and even after playing games and listening to music for a long time, it can go more than 1.5 days without charging. The only cons is that it is not a phone for music lovers. No walkman. And music quality on all music players is not that good, not for audiophiles like me. An excellent and very stable ICS phone otherwise.

this is my first smartphone... and for the price, well you can't really beat it. Yes, the screen maybe is a bit bad(I don't have any problems, though) and the phone is a bit slow etc., but if you don't have a lot of money, this is the phone for you. There a lot of coustom ROM's for this phone. I have installed paradox v1 ROM, runs OK. You can even install JellyBean on this phone.

One of the best phones out there. I'm using this phone over an year now, I have no issues with it, it's durable, fast, no bugs, no software crashes even the camera is good when compared with price. I love this phone. If you want a cheap phone with almost all the features that smartphone has then this is the best choice, according to me. Hi, Im from Malaysia. My Device: Sony Xperia Tipo (ST21i) PROBLEM 1: I don't have any doubt that the sound is great. But the problem is that when I connect the external speaker like the PC speaker, the sound is too bad. I mean, the phone speaker is 3 times louder. But I nearly can't even hear the sound when it's connected to PC speaker. Please note that my PC speaker is good. As a comparison, my friend (who got samsung galaxy gio) have a great sound when connected on my PC speaker.. Problem 2: The Facebook always (sometimes, at least 4-7 crush in 20 browsing) crush when I am browsing Facebook. I don't know what is the problem. I do even make a reset it to factory setting but the problem is still coming in. Someone please forward it to Sony customer service.. Please note that my device is a new one, bought about 2 months ago and still in very good condition.. Thank you..

My review about this phone. The best phone from any entry lvl phone with android ICS 4.0.4 ,loud speaker (with it's xLoud system by SONY),smooth (make it better with rooting ur phone),good proc,gpu and chipset,eventhough it's just 256k colors with ~180 ppi (160 ppi actually),u can make it more cleared with installing bravia engine for the photos & videos (you can browse it on google). The camera is great,very clear 3.2 mp cam than samsung 3.2 mp cam handsets,i don't know about other handsets. Fast data package,tether and wifi connection. The only main problem just the internal memory,small anyway...It said that 2 gb,but in the fact 1 gb more has used for the main system and leave only not much space for us to move the installed apps from rom but thanks to the big size rm 754 mb, i have root and try to move the apps to the external memory with link2sd and it's negative. I don't see any other way...external memory can only save your musics,photos,videos and files,not the apps that you've installed. But it's okay if you're not planning to playing HD games that need big sized memory,400 mb less game is ok anyway & u know it's the best than any other entry lvl phone. Temple run 2 works good. Great gaming perfomance for 2D & 3D. I see many people that judge xperia tipo is poor device coz it much lag. Maybe they're installing too much apps that runs background like,launcher,battery saver,anti virus/security system,chat and social media apps like twitter,whats app,line,we chat and etc. Which over time will consume your ram and thats why it's become more laggy. Widget that you use on your home screen also affecting. I give u an example,go launcher need 16 mb of your ram to runs background,but over time it can consume ur ram more until you restart your phone. And now,think about if you're installed so much apps that need background process as i mention above ? u know the answer. Try to do an experiment and see how your ram works.

all those people who have touch problems there is a SOLUTION you have to install this file "touchFWTools.apk" keep the phone on flat surface eg. table then run the application..it will caliberate the screen and then when it finishes you are done. Touch is smooth as butter !

NOt good enough. I would rather buy a ZTE Blade, much cheaper, has a really great display, great battery life, equally good cam. You cant imagine how bad display the Tipo has, you have to see it, its impossible to find a viewing angle that makes photos look ok, and the best image quality is not when looking straight on it. In landscape you have to view it slightly from the side, even then it looks worse than anything else. NO NO NO TIPO.

Tell Dad dont do it. Its exceptionally slow. Xperia E is a bit better but still bad. Do no try to save money by buying a Tipo, its NOT "good enough", wait for Xperia M, its the lowest price you will get on a phone with acceptable performance. Tipo was the only phone that was so bad that i sold it, could not even pas it on to family members, its that bad. Im now using a more than 2 year old Xperia Mini, its so much faster, has 100x better cam, a million times better display. (secondary phone that is, i have a current top of the line flagship phone as my main unit, but the Xperia Mini is so good that i use it more often when im out. The Tipo however, i never used it, total fail. Xperia Tipo, Miro, J and E, DO NOT BUY, immensely underpowered. Xperia M is the lowest one can go for Android.

Tipo is good in perfomance in this price range as there is no smartphones of other companies with all these features.. Also touch integration is better than samsung..and pc integration is better than other especially compared to samsung galaxy s duos.. It cant copy files in b/w pc and phone.. Some games cant perform better and hangs sue to less RAM capacity..

Unfortunately this is not such a good mobile for everyone including me. One of its problems was that it couldnt store the contacts nor could roll back with rstore! My problem resolved by putting them on group file... the situation was much worse for 2 of my friends, mading calls from his own, light spots on the screen, lag and touchscreen problems. Also it has a high SAR level, so use it ONLY with hands free!

Its a f***ing good phone. For 7k its awesome. The touch is superb. The apps are working fine coz the processor is awesome in this phone. MX player is something that I use quite often and it has never worked like this before for me. The sound clarity is simply brilliant. The loudness is a little low on usage of a headset but the chillness and clarity of phone make up for it. And not to forget..browsing is also good. The pre installed apps like cricinfo facebook news & weather are cool. Typing is a bit difficult but it's no big deal. I am getting used it so fast. Love his phone. As always "SONY ROCKZZZZ"

Awesome phone. Been using it for 9 months now. Proper optimization results in better gaming experience, 4350 score in antutu benchmark (Higher than nexus one). Those having trouble with keyboard, try google keyboard and for God's sake, its an entry level phone. You won't get a 5 inch screen to have buttons for giant fingers! Camera quality is good, better than nokia X3-02 5MP. For enhancing them, use camera360. Works way faster than my sister's Galaxy S duos, which has 1 ghz processor and 768 MB RAM. Overall, worth buying in entry level.

Chat Apps: WeChat is in discussion these days, and its getting a good fan following. But on the other hand WeChat as an app is very heavy. Most of you will face problems such as slowdown or trouble using Whats app and other apps, post installing WeChat. If you want to install WeChat, then it will be better to uninstall Whats app first and re-installing it again, after installing WeChat. 3. Touch Screen issues: Go to the nearest service center and get the screen calibrated. Dont do it at home as it can make the thing more worse. 4. Phone Lag: If you feel that your phone is slowing down, then there are few things you should do: A. Remove all the widgets from the homescreen(s) B. Also check for the running apps and force stop the apps that are not in use. See guys its common for android based smartphones to give problems starting from day one of use or on later on stages. We should remember that this is a budget smartphone and should use it in the right possible manner. I have had this phone about 6 weeks, I purchased a Bluechip Neon (Android Gingerbread) phone about a year ago, because my Nokia had problems and I wanted to play with Android. I couldn't get on with it, I kept using my old Nokia, despite the blotchy screen. Just used the Android as a home for my previous SIM card as a lot of people still had the number, and to play about with Android apps. I have used Nokias for years, and would have stuck with them; even more years experience with Windows made me opt for an Android device. The Tipo was not only cheaper than the Bluechip, it is VASTLY superior. I did a comparison of specifications of phones for under £100, the Tipo having a graphics processor was the real clincher. Phone prices generally seem to be dropping quickly, except for the bling fashion items. Six weeks on there may be better vaslue for money? Critique; The Tipo is a good little computer, sometimes has problems as phone, callers voice interupted. Could be due to data usage, as I am struggling to find a way to stop apps from doing auto-updates, despite turning off the options wherever I can find them. This seems to be a feature on Android? Comes with to many pre-installed apps that I am never likely to use and just steal battery life and data usage, managed to uninstall them eventually. Another Android feature? Issues with WIFI, Google search indicates I am not the only one to experience this. Problems finding hubs, hotspots etc. Bump app does not seem to work. None of this bothers me particularly, although it might be an issue for some users. Overall; For £50 odd plus £20 to undo network lock (Tesco) and no contract? Excellent value for money! With the range of rolling monthly contract (or even PAYG) deals available, Why would anyone not pay up-front for a phone like this and have total freedom to change phone and service provider when something better becomes available? Next upgrade will probs be for reasonable priced 4G, when it becomes available, and a Nexus. Although 3G from 3 is fast enough for me for now.

Am using the tipo. overall performance - excellent, what you'd expect from entry level smartphone. the major problem is most caller to tipo is experiencing echoes of their voice. heard that latest firmware update ( 11.a.0.4.27) solved this but the upgrade isn't available in my country yet.

When I first recieved the phone, I had it on charge overnight (at least 8 hours), tried to turn it on and wouldnt work (google flashing red light). This is a fairly common issue with these phones from what I have read (do your own research). Got it replaced (turned out to be a bad battery) and since then no problems at all. Epic phone, works great, I wouldn't say it's quick, but it aint slow, you pay for what you get, and honestly guys, you get a bloody bargain. Have owned it for just over a week now, I am very impressed with what you get. I am a part time/hobbyist audio engineer and can say the sound quality of both the phone and headphones are a B+. Camera is crap. Love it enough to reccomend it to friends and family.

I purchased Xperia tipo about 3 months ago. It's simply nice so far. touch is very responsive. display clarity is also good. drawback is sometimes call drops and echo to the callers. Totally it's a nice phone from Sony compared to Samsung y series and Htc Explorer.

I got it for free for corporate use , Exchange emails. Touchscreen is great for this price , better than i was expected. Good responsiveness. The cellular signal is above average. The Wifi sensitivity not so good. It includes stereo hands free. I haven't tried yet GPS functions. The battery holds for 2 days on daily average use or 4 days receiving only emails over 3G. Angry Birds plays great but the screen is small for gaming.

the phone is good for its price and performance. its NOT very good for gaming and it lags sometimes, so, don't install too much applications. everyone said it has touch prob. well, just install touchfwtools. its an apk file, its not on playstore and it really worked 100%. sound quality is amazing, but when trying to call, its not that great. camera is not great, but overall the phone is absolute BEST.

Xperia Tipo is a definite buy in budget.There is no limit to smartphones but if you want to experience smartphone that too in budget then there is no better choice than Tipo. it has every feature that a smartphone is understood to have. Don't buy . Within few months the phone lost it's touch sensitivity. Tried to format it , it sensitizes itself(without our interference ) at many places and as a result, the phone will hang.(Weird right....?!!). Even playing games is not a great experience as the application stops in the middle.

If there's a touch problem with your device you should download touchFWtools then install it. After that run touchFWtools and place your phone on a flat surface .then press on "calibration".dont move or pick your phone during this process.it may take few seconds after that test your touch

Its a freaking phone, not a psp, you use this one for communications, if you want demanding games buy something else, Works great as it is a low butget phone, all applications needed and essential work and you have plenty internal space for data from applications. I usually reinstall any phone the firts time I am going to use it, to asure the software is working fine and to clean the phone, most of the time is people making mistakes or not knowing how to use phones. So most of the time is not the phone failing...

I bought this phone one week ago for my wife. It was my first Sony branded android & I think must be the last one also. I am using Samsung & HTC branded androids & i think Sony is far behind them. I am trying to update this third class phone using PC companion software for last three days, but till just can't do it. At a stages it says- turn off the phone, unplug from PC, then plug the USB cable on PC, then press & hold the volume down key while plugging the cable into USB port of the phone. I feel ache on my finger after trying that 'Kung-Fu' technique for several times but it doesn't work at all. The most annoying part is, you can't even remove notification for update from homescreen of the phone. I just want to throw it away from my sight. Disgusting!!!!

I've contacted sony customer care they said like, "Actually need to update one software, while manufacturing this mobile they missed out to update. Now only they found this". yes you can update. but only through pc companion. for update process about 200mb data required but don't need backup your data because this is minor update only. I'm also updated my tipo three days before. this update gives you some new features and performance optimization. and I'm from India.
