Sony Xperia X Compact - User Reviews

  • I'm planning to buy this phone as my daily driver and would give to my mother when I got a job soon. Only 1 question, does the phone heats and shut off the camera when recording videos in very long time? And also, last. How long could I record on 1080p 60fps with this phone? Hope someone would reply! Cheers

  • Some phone is not capable for filming in 4k for long period, 4K is utilizing more storage and heat, especially for 28 nm Snapdgragon 650, 28nm is huge chip for now, consume more power and generating more heat and completely by a small phone, i guess you should find another phone right now, Sony selling their sensor to other brand and the quality is very good, but Sony itself sensor is very noisy even only just a slight zoom, but i love this plastic body, phone signal is very strong with this plastic body than metal body

  • Wifi just normal not having problem with docomo, just sometimes it lags and rebooting itself

  • Thanks for the reply. Bought this one secondhand Japanese version (AU). So far, the phone was great. Sometimes the phone would get hot when on heavy usage and you may suffer slowdowns on apps and network when battery was in low level. Camera is okay, the phone is capable to record 30/60 fps but only last around 17 minutes due to overheating message, its kinda annoying tho. Front facing speakers was not loud as expected but gives stereo experience especially watching videos and listening to music. Fingerprint was fast snappy and I guess thats it. Thanks!

  • i have updated sony xperia x compact in oreo version 8.0.1 without any error and its working fine

  • I probably won't be updating to Oreo because I read that some people have some issues afterwards like problems with WIFI connection. I still have android 7 and everything is fine.

  • Yeah at least Sony smartphone doesn't have very bad issue like other brand had, Maybe Sony have an issue with its camera which is noisy when zooming in, and whitespot, other brand had to deal with big issue

  • Android is not an Apple, 2 years support for Android is enough and better, this phone already has 2 upgrades so Oreo is very last support, XZs is only have 1 upgrade to Oreo from Nougat and after that No Pie in Sony roadmap, other flagship X series have 2 upgrades from Marshmallow, if anyone wanna 3 major upgrade maybe can make another smartphone brand and giving 3 years support like Pixel does

  • Go with X compact, Type C and Snapdragon 650 plus Laser and RGBIR sensor is the only feature which other X series doesn't have, you don't need 820 because the Snapdragon 8xx series is power hunger altough the chipset already in 14nm size but i dont feel the advantage with 14nm size, The Camera result? all same noisy when zooming in

  • you should go with x performence

  • Hey guys, should I go with this phone or the X Performance. I only spend surfing the Internet, social media and watch youtube videos.

  • This Phone need Android 9.0pie

  • bullshit, the screen resolution does NOT affect data usage in any way.

  • "this phone X Compact have a general disease cause cannot read signal so your phone cant get signal to dial phone do messages and internet, this is not cant read SIM it detected but cannot read signal!. this cant fixed with any trick even flash bcz this is hardware problem" I had the same problem after nearly 3 years of use, nothing worked. I had to buy a new phone. Please help me if you know how to fix this problem.

  • That's interesting. But what made you prefer X compact over XZ2 compact?

  • Sony Xperia X Compact is my first entry to Xperia. Along the way, I had a XZ2 Compact and Xperia 10. Yet till today, I ended up selling them all and using my XC. Had a battery replacement and it works like new again. I hope it can last me through 2020 or even 2021. If Sony changes its mind and comes out another compact, I will get it within a heartbeat.

  • Wanna try XA2 Ultra, but still love this phone 1 year use it, screen, battery life and performance are still good

  • xz1 compect father of all compect phones!4gb rame snapdragone 835 and amazing battery timing..4k camera and you can chak the small KING.

  • this phone X Compact have a general disease cause cannot read signal so your phone cant get signal to dial phone do messages and internet, this is not cant read SIM it detected but cannot read signal!. this cant fixed with any trick even flash bcz this is hardware problem

  • Any phone is portable as long as it can fit in your pocket

  • No.

  • does it support wireless charging?

  • This phone is really amazing Strong battery Very good camera And very portable

  • Yeap. It's very good. Battery will last (especially if you root and get rid of google/sony/facebook garbage) for 4 days . Camera is by far better than my previous z3 compact. Fingerprint sensor is very fast and reliable. What else to ask? That is A solid smartphone from Sony.

  • is surf almost 3 times faster then other phone is because the screen resolution 720*1280 consume less data then 1080*1920. my z1 compact download are a lot faster then my z5. thats why I still prefer smaller phone with 720*1280 display.

  • when someone calls me only their number shows up and not their name.

  • you can uninstall that apps, just search on google uninstall system app with cmd

  • my only problem is that too. i normally have 9gb free space

  • Awesome performance per price. I got the secondhanded Japanese-version so there are some apps I don't use but can't uninstall. Still great tho. The only cons is that the Android system itself takes 11GB from 32GB storage it has.

  • Bad battery 🔋 life Sony Xperia x compact

  • Costs about 35 € to replace the battery - I mean, you will get an original battery & work for this money.

  • Been using this phone for nearly a year now, it was slightly used when I got it. Waited a LONG time to upgrade to this as all other compact phones were not so great for the price. Pros: - Fantastic bang for the buck. I got it off Ebay barely used for $200CAD, shipping included. - Compact but powerful! This is one of the best mid-range phones for people who hate large phones. I can play games on it no issues, the processor and GPU are good enough for games without framerate issues. - Finally an Xperia with a Gorilla screen. Avoid the Z1 thru Z5 line due to this issue! - Fantastic camera - Long battery life - Notification LED - Fingerprint sensor works well, only available on NON-USA versions. Cons; - Chassis design from 1999 or something. It's a rectangle with sharp edges. This not only looks a bit dumb, it also concentrates kinetic energy into one spot if you drop it on the corner. BUY A SOFT SILICONE CASE TO ABSORB IMPACTS. - Notification LED. Whoever programmed this thing was stupid. SMS notification flashes once every 6-8 seconds or something. That's way too long. The flash is incredibly short too. You need to stare at your phone on the desk for up to 8 sec to see if you got any messages without checking yourself. My old MotoG was much better at this with a brighter, slightly slower flash every few secs (3secs?). I still haven't adjusted to it because it sucks. - Notification LED is way too bright while charging. This is nit picking, but still. In a dark room it's bright AF. - Vibration is slightly weak. I miss texts sometimes due to this. - Speakers. As others have stated it's a bit low. I think you can boost this in settings but still. - Internal battery, not sure if it's even possible to change. - Battery drains fast if gaming, but that's a given, likely similar across all phones. Overall a 8/10 for me, fantastic bang for the buck 'mid-high end' phone with no issues up until now. I hope Sony keeps up the compact line!

  • only if you must have small phone and dont mind very low speaker volume

  • Is this phone can instal gcam mod with portrait mode? Which OS that support gcam with portrait mode? MM, N, or O?

  • 'had the phone since December 2016, i must say that my previous Z3Compact felt better but the X Compact is not disappointing in anyway. The battery lasts long, takes super fine pictures and does not overheat like the Z3 Compact. Sony should never discontinue the COMPACT versions...

  • You are either talking about a different phone here or your X Compact has some very serious issues as mine is super fast with Oreo! Or are you just a internet troll? No offense, mate :)

  • this is possibly the worst phone i've ever seen. the phone is so slow that i have fallen asleep while waiting for it to do something. the charging port and headphone jack both broke after two months of use. do not waste your money on this garbage.

  • how about the camera? can you use google-camera mod?

  • after 20 months (i'm on Oreo) - still reliable - no lags - 5-6 hrs screen time - low stereo speaker audio, but it's ok indoor

  • im like you and couldnt find any phone similar to it and eagerly waiting for sharp r2 compqct. thats only phone which can replace my x compact

  • Been running with this phone the past couple years. It's been a darn fine phone up to this day. My only complaint that the speakers don't get very loud and I can't replace the aging battery. Now having a hard time finding such a solid device with a sub-5" screen. Keep the Compact line alive, Sony!

  • It is slower with each new update.

  • Seems to be the last update. You need to switch to AOSP to get latest security updates.

  • myth

  • just do it man! it's better

  • But lots of review said battery draining fast and lag after update this device to oreo. Is this true or just a myth?

  • will they update more security pach or to android 9 or september security patch is the last update?

  • Yes bro, at right top..

  • Oreo!

  • Better stay at nought or upgrade to oreo?

  • I own this phone for a while, and its awesome! U can play pubg mobile on best setting without Any lag! Its best phone ever! Although, if you use It alot, the battery life gos a bit down

  • Is it have a led notification?

  • Yes it's available. You can even choose if touch-to-capture will work with both cameras (front + back) or with front camera only.

  • I'm specifically talking about the "touch to caputure" feature on the camera, whether. It can be turned on, on the "Xperia Compact"? = that you can touch the screen anywhere and it will take a picture

  • I'm thinking of buying either the Xperia X or Xperia X compact. But in a comparison video I saw on YouTube I saw one feature pointed out on the camera, that I use often, but it looked like it might be permanently turned off in the compact xperia x. Can anyone who has the compact version confirm whether this is true or not? The feature is shown in the video at 4.21 min.

  • yes! that is super normal, most phones don't even last that long.

  • if you using docomo version like mine, remove the sim card then check update manually

  • How did you get October security patch level? Mine is still August. While a friend of mine is still on Android 7. Can anybody help?

  • Oktober 18 security patch on my Xperia x compact docomo, but camera quality is the same, and no raw support

  • main camera can run 720p@120fps

  • Had mine for a couple of years now and am very happy with it - If you don't want to spend the earth then this my be a good used phone purchase

  • lol i noticed to many bugs since oreo and one of them is wifi connection is not even stable

  • Very good go ahead

  • The best compact phone from Sony. Oreo updated very fast. No lag. Battery is very good. Tnx Sony.

  • Hi, does anyone experienced the Wlan bug after updating to Oreo? The connection isn't stable anymore but you couldn't reproduce anything, it happens here and there. I tried any setting in my router and on the phone, any other devices working great. Some guys in a forum tried a reset but it also doesn't helped. If I do it i would try a software repair with Sony Companion, but i wanted to ask if anybody has the same bug? Maybe somebody can help me?

  • japan set have water proofing.. maybe they secretly waterproof them

  • im planning to buy this phone as primary phone. any bad side of the phone?

  • i have tried gcamera. Xperia not support raw, i wonder if you succeed? pls share with us

  • Gcamera

  • Hi, it is normal the battery draining from 100% in the morning to 50% in the noon, and at night before 6 and left 20%. My usual usage only fb and chrome, for almost 4 hours. Mean 4 hours used 80% of battery. It is normal?

  • I don't know what Tigon's problem is, but the software is one of the best Android experiences. Fast and timely updates, and clean looking. I've had this phone for over two years, and have not had a single problem with it. It's still surprisingly fast so I don't need, or want to upgrade. Next phone will be a Sony, only if they bring back the headphone jack and side FPS. Great phone.

  • Yep, it's still one of the best (and one of the few!) compact smartphones in the market today :) I would have liked to Still get Android Pie update but i guess 2 major updates + still frequent security updates will do it for me :) And personally for me i would like to mention that PS4 remote play function is really cool and works nicely with little to no problems.

  • This is a very nice phone, even 2 years after it was released. I have had this phone for about 18 months. I like a smaller phone and the X compact fits anywhere I want to carry it. Some of the better features that I like are Quickcharge 3.0 (charges from 0 to 100% in about an hour); 23 MP camera - very sweet (stock camera app...not so great, I use an app called Premium Camera); Battery life - I get 4-5 days after a charge, I charge when I drop below 5% because I still have about 8 hours of moderate use at that point. I am not a superuser: I make lots of phone calls, maybe 2 hrs per day, I stream HD video maybe 30-60 minutes a day, use Google maps a lot, and waste time on the internet. I was impressed with the specs of this non-flagship phone in 2016 and it has never let me down. Sony has a good bit of bloatware on the phone but most of it can be disabled. I haven't had a need for the SD card but it is there if I need it. Currently this phone is updated to Android 8.0.0 (Oreo) and runs nicely, no glitches. If you like a compact phone, even in 2018 I don't think this can be beat.

  • it's YOUR problem or the phone problem?

  • U buy a lot unnecesary Problems with this Phone. It s my first Sony, and i deeply regret it, i had to fix so much, the Software is HORROR, like on an Phone of 2011. The same old fashioned Problems, i think it s a Xperia thing so i WONT BUY EVER AGAIN !!! ...it writes messages in my pocket, its hard to find Apps in the Menue, ...TEST THE MENUE IF YOU LIKE IT ...I Hate it ! IT S NOT INTUITIVE AT ALL... Right now my Ringtone is very quiet so i cant hear it .... I MISS A LOT OF CALLS FROM CUSTOMERS.... so it is not at all a good choice for business. The Music Player is completly stupid, also dont play all my songs now and then, ...it will distract you a lot while outside/on the road / ...your cant set buttons on your own, ...the buttons dont react properly... and so on and so on.... as you can se it acts like a smartphone of the first batch.... not tested.... not finished.... It looks nice but works worse than lousy. So do yourself a favor and choose another company. It s not at all worth the money, TO EXPENSIVE ...and the Problems are a Joke - But real ...It s so hard to find a small smartphone (4.6") with good specs that s why i choose it. But it bothers me to much, so i will sell it.

  • Nope.

  • wow cant believe i just buy this phone, love it more than my xz1, but the problem is i got only 32 gb internal wonder is there any 64 gb version?

  • is anyone have app to make camera better? bokeh or hdr+ using unroot or root device

  • It is import set.

  • Is there any over heating problem about this device?

  • is yours malaysia set or import set. I try to get z5 premium but is import set. im using z1 compact now from malaysia. is demo set, its really nice.

  • is yours malaysia set or import set. I try to get z5 premium but is import set. im using z1 compact now from malaysia. is demo set, its really nice.

  • Ok...tq for the info bro

  • Nice phone but with a truly terrible camera. So bad in fact that I thought my phone had a fault but the replacement was exactly the same, it's incapable of taking any decent shots on auto mode.

  • Curousell bro. 2nd can get rm 350 but new one at lazada was rm 1889 Please check hardware is ok. For battery is not issue just go to sony centre to change new only cost you rm 113. This phone battery life is good. I use x compact oreo update

  • Can u share the link for buying the sony x comoact malaysia...thanks in advance

  • Another one thing, I'm using LG V30+ and also Google Pixel 2 XL before, Internet quite slow and even I testing using fast.com just enough to get around 1 - 2 mbps connectivity (using band 40) But when I'm using Xperia X compact internet more faster and when I test connection speed on x compact I can get around 8 - 14 mbps (using band 40) Same explorer which is google chrome. Its weird, someone notice this? but connectivity faster on xperia x compact.

  • Hi just bought yesterday since now is super cheap for 2nd phone in Malaysia, just rm350 only, but after that I immediately change ory battery at sony centre. last night at 82% battery level give to my son to play game/installing non stop/watch youtube from 9.30 pm - 12.20 pm battery down to 8%. But if for normal usage battery life is very-very good. I letgo my Google Pixel 2 XL and LG V30+ to keep some money in my pocket, surprisingly this phone can use as my primary for daily use, after upgrade to oreo. this phone have nice camera (not selfie). Sony UI here faster that asus 5z. handle in one hand very convenience and I love this phone even this old model. Since it very cheap I don't bother to use case and only put screen protector to avoid scratch on screen. What I like the most and suprise me is the audio, speaker is clear and DSEE HX setting in the audio for wired headphone setting make listen to music feel superb--soo much different that others brand phone. you will not regret to let your V30 go (because if you want to be audiphile in V30 you also need hi res music to get the benefit but sony DSEE HX is different that improve normal /song/music to sound better) This is only my own opinion. It may different from others.

  • Samsung software is the worst full with ads, glitches and illogical layouts. Usually those which praise Samsung are very non technical, oriented by high prices when buy something and of course they cannot afford a more expensive and secretly dreamed iPhone.

  • Thanks for sharing.

  • Xperia X Compact still getting monthly security updates (including July 2018). Not bad for an almost two-year-old phone. Presumably that will continue through autumn of this year.

  • @Naiipe You could try clearing the app cache (NOT the User data) of the Contacts app: Settings->Apps & Notifications->App info->Contacts->Storage->Clear Cache

  • Thanks for the answer, but that is not my issue. I think there is a problem with the software...

  • I do not know exactly your sequence but I noticed that the operation of hang up takes several seconds, as though it gets over the network a confirmation, during which other phone commands freeze or queue, so it may be a modem, hardware, network issue.

  • Hi everyone, i have an issue with contacts default app. When i search for a number/name it goes fast. Then i hang up and do other stuff. Everything ok, but when i try to search again for another number/name, the app has a delay, after almost 4 seconds, it open with the previous name, that its normal, but the time that it takes to open its annoying. i hope someone can help me with that.

  • Really?

  • That makes no sense.

  • It is agile. But sometimes the owners make it lame.

  • I wanna buy 2nd hand to use as a camera. what do you think? compared to newer models and iPhone SE

  • Got this phone for a backup,It's lame.

  • hey guys, do you think this phone could last for another 4 years? I mean, z3c is pretty usable now, so what?

  • dude, what if I play 3d game like er...chaos ring 3 for 2 hours, listening to music 30 mins, surfing webs for 1 hour and watch video for 1 hour. A total 4 hours of screen on time (music doesn't count) will the phone last for that long to do all the tasks given above? 'cause that's likely my daily routine.

  • I bought this phone for my second phone. After oreo update its super fast, good battery life two days with heavy use....the last nice plastic phone

  • I have z5c and battery life 5days is ok for me

  • I also got the april update and my battery drains faster.

  • My X Compact was getting quite slow and buggy, until I did a factory reset. It felt like a new phone and silky smooth!! It was still working well 3 weeks later EXCEPT, I installed the April security patch and its got a little slower. Has anyone else found the same thing? Just my imagination? Or maybe week 4 after a factory reset is when all caches start to fill up, apps take up more space and RAM etc?

  • I think you talking about the z3. Z3 compact was a so good phone with very good battery life, the z5 compact doesn't have a good bettey life because of the snap 810.the X compact battery life is quite good and good camera and you will find within your budget. Thanks you also got the xz1 compact which is a beast for battery life and the top about specs but I don't know the price but could be a bit more than 300

  • Trying to replace a Z3 Compact and want another "small" phone, budget is €200-300 for a sim free hand set (my carrier isn't stocking the XZ1 or XZ2 Compacts). How does this phone compare to the Z5 Compact even though they're both a few years old or any other alternative people may have? Would prefer a decent camera if possible. Thanks

  • Coming from a Samsung phone I have to say I am HORRIFIED at how bad the Sony is. The software is terrible. The phone looks nice but the software! Utter crap. The home screen/launcher, the phone dialler, even the stock weather app are clunky, ugly and archaic. It's shockingly bad. I regret buying it and I'm going to sell mine on ebay.

  • The screen is only 0.1 inch less but it is 10mm shorter as well as a mm or two narrower. So yes, it is more compact than the iPhone for about the same screen size. The new XZ2 Compact is bloated in comparison, I don't know what they were thinking. Bigger, much heavier, no headphone jack.

  • "Compact" but it's just 0.1" smaller than the 4.7" iPhone 8.

  • They have the same measurements. You cannot say one is more compact than the other. The xc has radio while xz1 doesn’t in case it matters to someone.in rest they are twins. Someone should split the tie on parts like camera, sound, performance, because xz1 is lot more expensive

  • No, it has water resistence, I tested it.

  • regarding rumours about secret water resistance i can add that i accidentally dropped mine in a sink filled with water and it hasn't affected the health of it.

  • No, it doesn't have water resistance(

  • Update it to Oreo for the best experience and for security updates.

  • No man but there are some rumours that it is secretly waterproof together with xperia x.You can watch some videos on YOUTUBE where peopletest it under water and it still works :D

  • Is this x compact water proof resistant (IP68) as same as z5 compact ??

  • Should i update to oreo or stay with nougat?

  • I finally got Oreo couple of days ago and right after that got new security update also:) Very happy with Oreo but like many said, there isn't that much difference between Nougat skin and Oreo skin on Xperia phones.

  • Yes, this is so true.I even tried to factory reset it and it is still the same. When I also put it to charge it needs more time to charge itself than on nougat. And I believe sony has no intention fixing this issue.

  • After upgrading to OREO 8.0 (34.4.A.2.19) the battery is drained MUCH, MUCH FASTER then on ver. 7.1.1. All you out there: Be aware of this upgrade!!! Sony, please fix this!

  • Have anyone got Oreo in Europe as an OTA update yet? I don't mean you have updated using Xperia Companion or other manual updating procedures. Mine still says up to date! My variant is F5321.

  • Got Oreo Update! Great Job by Sony. I never expect Android Oreo on a 2016 phone. But Sony is really caring their customers. Just updated with the help of this tutorial:

  • Your bad experience could be because of the mediatek processor

  • i get 7 hours screen on time after oreo update and still have %10 battery (no gaming, using mostly social media, internet browsing with wi-fi / 3g , and making 1-1,5 hours phone call during the day) oreo is stable, fast and no lagging. i'm pleased with this phone

  • I got the email from Xperia Care today that a new update is now available on my X Compact (probably Oreo) but still update page on my phone says you got the latest updates... ...wft? Do i still need to wait for couple of hours/days?

  • Thanks for the reply. I was thinking the same really. The only thing is that I got so disgusted by Sony because my experience with the M5, which I currently use, that I'm really thinking of crossing Sony entirely!! But all the reviews seem saying that the XZ1c is good, so I'm puzzled. You can read my opinion/experience with the M5 at on the 23.02.2018. was my post. Gigi

  • To be honest xz1 is way better in every aspect, actually even more compact, but that is why it is also more expensive than the x compact. If i were you i would go for the xz1---> the last true compact phone. xz2 is too THICC and not compaxt at all :/

  • How does it compare to XZ1 Compact? Cheers

  • Hello bro, I have an Xperia XZs phone, and I update it to Oreo I completely regret my phone used more battery and it's nothing new, so I'll be not so excited about Oreo, anyway good luck men

  • Thanx!

  • I'm from Germany and still have no Oreo Update. Think the rollout here will take a little bit longer. I have no branded device or anything else btw. You can check status here

  • Any Northern European country got Oreo yet? Are there users from that area (Finland, Sweden, Norway, Denmark) here and did you get Oreo? I'm still waiting...

  • recently i gt updated my xperia c compact to oreo..n once finish intalling i cant on my phone...itz juz stucked and restart itself again n again..frustrated..then send it to service centre..today i gonna take my phone, they said don install oreo bcoz itz not stable uet ..juz wait for the stable version..hmmm..anyone experience same like me..

  • yes

  • Does this phone has laser AF and RGBC IR sensor on the back? Because it seems like it has refer on images

  • Have an unlocked model with sr number :BH900H9N5P Don't have the box( came from London tho..)

  • Then just manually flash it with a non carrier Firmware.

  • Did the oreo update solved the low sound issue in noughat? How was the overall performance in OREO?

  • Not carrier locked. In Finland, we don't have any carrier locked phones on sale, every phone is unlocked.

  • Are you carrier locked/have unlocked phone? If yes go to Xpericheck.com or you Flashtool to manually flash Android 8.0 Firmware.

  • I mean F5321

  • I have X Compact, X5321 model but still no Oreo. Location Finland.

  • How is battery performance on LTE? Standby / SOT?

  • xp x compact juz received oreo update...version 34.4.a.o.364....how bout u all

  • Both are the same only size difference and close price. Pick what you want whether to have small compact screen or the bigger one.

  • If you want a bigger screen go for X but if you want a lighter and smaller phone then dis is the BOI for you :D

  • Xperia X Compact or Xperia X? Plis suggest

  • Just be patient it'll eventually get Oreo.

  • I already have version you mentioned but it's not Oreo and my question was about Oreo. And i'm getting security updates regularly but Oreo is still missing :/

  • 34.3.A.0.252 latest firmware for X Compact, better pick from another region that updates continuosly!!!

  • Sony, what's the hold up? Where is Oreo for X Compact? I think every other X series phones already got it (the ones which are eligible for Oreo).

  • How is the power consumption in nougat? A

  • Well, I'm still waiting for the update. The phonr has admirably survived being stolen by a monkey, clawed at and dropped from 8m from a tree! I'm wondering if I change my location on the phone to Thailand, if then I'll get Oreo quicker?

  • I think it is definitely the flac encoder I was using. Gone back to my my 64Gb card and encoded my music using a flac encoder from Xiph.Org Foundation. All good.

  • I recommend MiXplorer as a file explorer. Link:

  • Haven't tried any glass, I think skinomi do a curved protector. Terrapin do a slim, hard plastic rubberised case, good but not a huge fan of the cutout on the right side: I recommend 7zipper as a file browser.

  • Its good when you turn xloud or something like that in settings-sound-advanced

  • Was having the same problem. Then I used compressed air (the one from cans) blowing the port and it's now OK again.

  • Lovely phone but no decent glass screen protectors or cases available other than cheap TPU slicone rubbish. Also, it doesn't even have a File Explorer!

  • Nope and it's almost December now but i think X and X Compact are next in line for Oreo :)

  • been using this for a while. battery is stellar. camera is poor (? wtf Sony ?) My biggest gripe is with the usb charging port. USB C ports wear out very easily, doesn't hold the plug very stable. Would have really liked Qi charging on this one.

  • Glad you like it. For me I'd rather have a thick phone than a phone with a tiny battery. Easier to hold too!

  • Impressive

  • I don't think the xc/x will see oreo till the xz/xzs, but shouldn't take too long after that happens.

  • I'm at 7:30 SoT with 20% left. Phones been on for 22 hours.

  • Nat thanks I bought x compact very happy with it only drawback is its bulky

  • How is battery in nougat? Standby & screen on

  • Has anyone in Europe or UK received the Oreo update yet?

  • The volume is average, or was better on both my Samsung S7 and Nokia Lumia 720. Having said that, I almost always find it easy to hear the other person on a call. Volume is average but the actual sound quality is excellent.

  • I be another option of buying z5 compact also but it's earpiece volume is again not good

  • I m going to buy x com someone to please update about in volume, is it OK when u receive call and when while receiving call u touch speaker volume.

  • I was thinking at 21:9 ratio.

  • Nope, with a 5" screen, even if height is OK with 3mm top and 3mm bottom, width is beyond what can be called compact. So 4.6" or max 4.7 is the limit. But 3mm top and 6mm bottom with a 4.6-4.7" screen will be the first true compact.

  • Camera is actually quite good, i used a lot of phones with great potential like 1020,808 but this phone is amazing. It's not blurry, very detail and has good color balance also autofocus is excellent, very fast and accurately working. Performance is very good, my last phone was iphone se, but this phone is working well. No lag, no waiting. Scrolling performance also good. Gaming performance quite good, it runs every game like telltale games batman, gta san andreas, asphalt extreme etc. Screen is amazingly good. Very bright and it's visible under sunlight. Colors good, pixels density is enough and screen's black borders very tiny. I checked xz1 yesterday and x compact's screen very similar with xz1. Battery performance is good. With wifi it takes approximately 7 hours sot, with cellular i played 1 hours batman, 1 hours google navigation and it took 4 hours30 minutes sot. It's actually pretty good with gaming and running navigation.

  • It is about Warranty. After you unlock the phone you can bring in heavy customization to the system using operating system level modules, code. Sony offer waranty per system (hardware and software) and a heavy operating system modification after rooting, unlocking makes impossible for them to evaluate a complaint during the warranty. Thus they provide through a registration process the unlock code and procedure only if you reveal the owner and waive the owner's warranty. Sony website explains how to unlock any Sony phone free of charge but with the consent to renounce its manufacturer warranty.

  • At first I thought the problem might be with the SD card. I bought a 64Gb card but items/tracks/albums that I loaded kept on disappearing. And then the music skipped a lot. I have now tried a different flac encoder (flac instead of cdex) and have had no problems since. I'm still monitoring

  • You can install on this phone apks downloaded on computer then thansfered to the phone, it works.

  • I have this phone and I recommend it and yes I can download apps from outside the app store

  • I can only agree - and what do you think of the camera? (I was used to a LG-G2 with OIS & HDR), and I am very disappointed (because of lots of shaken/blurred out pictures, because of "only-if-hold-extremely-steady" the pictures will become sharp). And, have you tried to "customize" - that is, install apk's, mess with other apk's that control Battery-life etc. I have, and Sony won't let me (they seem to be ignorant to the fact, that many customers buy an Android-smartphone, in order to be able to change settings etc - instead of buying an "iPhone wash-n-go not-customisable unit") [Sony have "grayed-out the buttons", making this a no-go - and when trying to Root, one is met with (after following Sony's! own developer-walk-through) an "end stop", where it shows up, that the unit cannot be Rooted - and they refuse to help, regarding this problem (of course / maybe! - still it makes the Sony suck compared to other Android-units!)]

  • I cannot recommend this phone !!! ...Because of lots of annoyances etc: First: User is blocked by Sony, from customisation, unlocking, etc - for instance I am only allowed to install from Google-Play (no matter if "install from unknown sources is selected") - forget about apk-installs etc. Sony's "on behalf of the end-user protection" keeps the phone from being fully operational. Unlocking the phone and installing screen-level programs is also blocked - and sony-support will not help. Camera: Unfortunately, it takes Shaky and often blurred pictures (the EIS stinks!). They have good colours, though. But HDR is also not very effective (only helps a tiny bit). The camera cannot compete with for instance the LG G2's (with OIS, which I did own before this laugh of a smartphone!) - the G2 took not-shaken pictures, even in night-time, with great HDR-contrast. Reviews: I believed the reviews writing & saying this phone had a "superp camera" (with EIS etc) - but in real life situations, I have now so many blurred pictures with the "X compact", that I regret switching from the LG G2 (which in my case showed up to be a "not used, but repaired / refurbished unit", that had some other issues because of this, and went dead - and I thought I would "upgrade" to a never unit). Sad story, because the "Upgrade" turned out to be a big DOWNGRADE !!

  • I have the same problem on the stock Album app but other gallery apps load high-res images just fine.

  • I have the X Compact but I'm quite disappointed in the performance of the Snapdragon 650 when viewing a hi-res photo. Please do this test yourself if you have this phone: tap the album app and select a hi-res photo, then double tap to zoom. It takes anywhere anywhere from 7 seconds to much higher duration for the image to sharpen up. Some say it's great for day to day use, but it becomes quite tedious to wait for each image to load properly. It seems underpowered at least for viewing hi-res images

  • Because with stamina mode my screen time is about 10 hours or more. 2.5 days using in normal life. On the lowest stamina mode there is no lag and performance is very good.

  • why would it be ? but you will lost some performance and the phone will lag during scrolling especially

  • Try using QuickPic app, it is faster than stock Album in viewing photos.

  • Who will make first a 5” bezelless phone, will dominate the mobile world.

  • I've not experienced that myself but only had the phone a week. I do have a problem loading images on Sony Album, it takes forever, other than that very good device

  • if i enable stamina mode ''on'' always is it dangerous for phone? Do you advise it?

  • It shouldn't, try out a different music player.

  • Hello. I bought this phone a couple of months ago and am generally happy with it but I seem to have so many problems with music playback where tracks jump/skip. Does anybody else have that problem? Please? Thanks

  • Hello. I bought this phone a couple of months ago and am generally happy with it but I seem to have so many problems with music playback where tracks jump/skip. Does anybody else have that problem? Please? Thanks

  • Mine drains fast andI noticed it just after 6 or 9 months from purchase, even overheats when charging which is scary.

  • I have the Galaxy S7 and the battery does NOT drain fast at all. In 8 hours (during the night) I lose 1% or less.

  • no phones are perfect, s7 battery drains fast thats why i never buy samsung

  • it depends on how you use, i have a friend who has iphone 7 and it occures on his screen, i have 3 x compact and non has the ring you mentioned on the screen, maybe you didnt care about your phone, its not a fault from sony

  • Well that's a shame if it isn't covered by the warranty.

  • Nope, I own an Xperia X Compact and after 5 months it got on the right side of the screen an ugly yellow semi-ring, about half inch from the screen top. The phone was kept in good conditions and after googling online I have seen pictures with the same yellow spot defect, in the same location, on older versions like Xperia Z compact. So, it seems they share internally the same defect which damages the screen, probaby through overheating.

  • It's only especially slow in sony's gallery. Google photos loads within a second.

  • I've not heard about glue issues since the z3 series, think that concerns been dealt with for a while now.

  • Ok I'll stick with my Galaxy S7 then :D. Been hearing about Sony issues since the Z1. It's funny that they haven't succeeded in making reliable phones in the past 6 years. Sad. truly sad.

  • Those who complain about showing high resolution pics on such small low resolution screen are freaks. I do not see any delays or rendering struggles more than ram limitations and slow storage speed to read large pics. Other more grave issues are with screen defects, screen's uncured glue which appear after a while, due to overheating, like yellow spots.

  • Did you try Piktures or QuickPic? Or another third party gallery? Are they slow to load those hi-res images as well?

  • Slow refresh, interruptions, shattering videos over wifi. Over cable not supported at all.

  • Does anyone know how to use wifi-direct in Xperia X compact ?

  • If you get 6s in same price of x compact then why wasting time on android But in 350$ x compact is far far ahead than a3 Why even compare that Samsung midranger with Sony premium device Samsung midranger is worth contrasting to xperia l1 or e5

  • What if i tell you this device is waterproof Just search on YouTube And many companies mention waterproof for their devices but they end up leaked most of the time

  • Maybe the moto x4, not out yet and battery size isn't confirmed, but it will have ip68 and a fps.

  • Had the XZ and battery life has been rather not good enough for me on an average use.

  • But the X Compact ain't water resistant. Are you saying go for the Z5? or the X?

  • I'm hoping for an almost no bezel new design language. At least, 85% screen to body ratio for the new compact. It will not look as modern as the Samsung S8 otherwise

  • If you can find a good deal on the xz/xzs that would be a good choice.

  • ... with no FM radio and bezels bigger than an elephant's underpants.

  • Clearly you should go for sony's offer; the stock android is great, you get waterproofing, stereo speakers, and well updated software; samsung normally has laggy, bloated software with hardly an update in sight. Stay FAR away from samsung, that's for sure...

  • I would agree to almost 100% that the Xperias get updated more often than Samsung's. But I find the X Compact a bit small for y hands/needs. The 5-inch Xperia X could be nice option but my "comfort" zone is 5.2" & above. And I could do with some water resistance too. Not just nano coating or "false" IP ratings.

  • Check these speed tests: For cameras gsmarenas comparison tool is pretty good. The x series sonys have been better in terms of updates than the galaxy a series so far also.

  • ATM my heart is set either the Xperia X or the Z5. Another choice would be the Galaxy A5 2017. Comment please?

  • Should be, always some chance of failure no matter how good the water resistance is of a device.

  • If you can wait till September, the xz1 compact should launch then. Looks set to be a true flagship grade phone with a design similar to the x compact.

  • So if i forgot phone in the pocket im good?

  • Dont fart anymore, this little guy is in fact waterproof, it just doesnt have the certificate. I tested it my self.

  • Teardowns show that x compact is sealed just like any other waterproof phone. It also has the ip68 certificate in Japan

  • It's kinda' waterproof just doesn't have a certificate. Good enough for me. Check...

  • Why oh why this phone doesn't have IP68? Why they didn't make him waterproof? When I saw this phone I was amazed with size and power and I thought that it was a XZ compact, and I was like "Oh this baby is mine" but then someone farted and said "check him on gsm arena" And I saw no IP68, so I farted too.

  • Since having my first Galaxy phone (4") and my current Moto G4 I found 5.1' ti 5.5" to be my sweet spot. I can live with 5-inches but anything above 5.5" is verging on phablet territory.

  • I hear you brother, it's slim pickings for a small compact reasonably powerful modern Android device. The phone companies are missing a trick here as there is huge demand for such a device which is why the smaller iPhone SE is such a hit, especially with women who generally don't like bigger phones. Seems the only options we have are those you've pointed out or having to go for budget devices with poor specs like a Samsung J1 Mini. For what it's worth I still think the 4.6" screens are little too large, the 4.3" display on my S4 Mini is the sweet spot for usability and power. I can live with 4.6" though :)

  • My choices of a bigger phone is started to wane slowly. The A5 2017 is too expensive for its specs. The disappointment of the Moto G5 Plus having no compass was a deal breaker for me. The J5 2017 is again expensive for its specs and the camera is a disappointment (same as the Nokia 5) and the UK-made Wileyfox Swift 2X has questionable video recording audio, no image stabilisation though price is affordable for its specs. So, I'm stuck with the X Compact, Galaxy A3 2017 and iPhone 6S.

  • The only two things that make the X Compact a "better" compact than any of those alternatives is the battery life and the 3GB RAM. If those are not too important to you then the the iPhone SE is smaller, the Z5 Compact has IP68 certification and is fractionally smaller and the iPhone 6s is a different class of phone altogether so not even a proper alternative.

  • Might sound like a stupid question but what makes the X Compact a better "compact" phone than say the Z5 Compact, iPhone SE or the 6S?

  • yeah its almost time for a new compact phone, lets see what sony does. but Im not gonna buy it because I love my XC and unless the new compact is bezel free i wont go for it..

  • Hey Sony! Where is the new compact phone? It's time for a new update! (I'm happy with my X compact but would like to see an update)

  • Yeah. But it's out of stock there. Plus there's no official warranty from Sony, so if it has a defect you're screwed.

  • Try kimstore.. They have it there

  • Also less surface area for a virtually thicker ratio of the front panel glass. Assuming that all glass panels for these phones are cut from the same sheet, then the thickness ratio thins out the bigger the display. My Z3 compact for example has fallen a few times (1 fall was kinda scary) and the screen still looks good as new! So yes, I'm a huge fan of compact devices for this reason!

  • I like this phone. I like to buy it but it's not available in the Philippines.

  • Also less surface area for a virtually thicker ratio of the front panel glass. • Compact phones like these are less heard after a few months till I almost forgot XPERIA XZ got a compact version lol

  • Got the july security patch now. Carrying on patches by mid month without fail for unlocked uk version.

  • yes its true, z1 compact more durable, about 3 meters drop accidentaly this phone just bending a little but the front panel display is surive yeaah.. yes because it have metal body for protect it. i use lollipop update + root it + some mod

  • I'm from Romania and i received the 7.1.1 update. Be advised, my X Compact came with UK charger.

  • The update brings a lot of bug fixes in my opinion, not much UI changes. The messaging app was becoming very laggy in 7.0 but now its so much better even though I restored all my messages after update

  • Samsung is not worth paying - not for the value which you're paying; quality is not as superior as Sony Xperia series. Ever used Samsung prior to Sony's development on smartphones. But never like Samsung any more once I had purchased and used Sony Xperia ZXs and Premium phones.

  • Minor changes to notifications and quick settings. Also most likely june security patch.

  • didn`t get the 7.1.1 update yet in romania. any idea when? what does it bring?

  • Go and buy samsung which is the super phone for you, never buy something else. None of your claims are true: the batery life is long, about 48 hours using ocasionally web browsing. The image is with high contrast, sharp, vivid colors, natural. But for some people it will never be anything else better than iPhone and Samsung Galaxy so please never buy anything else ghus live your life happy. The same happens with BMW M and Mercedes AMG, it does not matter other cars for some.

  • No loud but sufficient, well oriented the speakers towards user, stereo. No problem if kept just a little below the maximum, still clear sound.

  • what about his ringtone volume, it aren't very loud ? Someone can confirm it ?

  • me sometimes in no signal places but ehrn i change from lte to gsm it will work perfect there. i have this problem only in that place and i know its because of my simcard

  • Thanks for response. All Audio Setting have been turned off for some time. Previously tried turning each setting on then off. That too made no difference. Did not mention in original post, but I hear the squelch/chirp at my end but the person I'm speaking to does not hear it.

  • Yes it is as good.

  • Try it without audio enhancements, might help the issue. Settings - sound - audio settings.

  • Keep getting a squelch/chirp during calls. Been to carrier (AT&T) and sim card was replaced. That did not help. Contacted Sony Support via email several times. Sony only responds to check their Trouble Shooting Guide. The TSG suggests running in safe mode, verifying if latest updates are installed or resetting back to original factory mode. I have done all of these items several times. I have asked Sony several times if there is a local Sony cell phone repair facility in my state. Each time, they do not answer the question and reply saying I can ship the phone back to them at an overseas address. I've explained several times that this is my only phone and I cannot ship it back and wait several weeks for them to review. Shipping it back is their only response. Very frustrated and disappointed with Sony support. If you google search the Sony return shipping address ( SBE Ltd Freepost NAT19593 Ashford Kent TN23 7BR) you get a list of angry, frustrated responses to Sony. Anyone else getting a squelch/chirp during calls?

  • I have this phone for about 3 months now, and I'm kinda disappointed. Battery life is not that great, I only get about 5hours sot, without even using mobile data. The phone is chunky when using with a case, speakers are great but to quite, you can clearly see a pixelated icons when changing to google pixel icon pack with rounded icons. And I hate gallery app, because you have to wait for 5 seconds to load photo and if you zoom in you have to wait for another 5 seconds to load (image enhancement is off). This phone is good but not that great. Now I'm giving this phone for my mum, and first time switching to the ios. I'll give iphone se a try, I think it will be more polished than this phone. It would be a great phone if the price would be lower, for a 250euros it could be a killer. That's my opinion. Have a good day guys

  • nope, still working perfect in everything, the only draw back is the color option which i wanted black but only found white here

  • Im still using my z1 compact, its been 4 years, still good and snappy, downside is just the internal storage which is 16gb, i used sd card but not all apps allow to be transferred to sd card, When z3c came out, i didnt upgrade my z1c coz i think its not much different between em, i think I made a good choice, from ur comment, maybe z1c has better durability than z3c.

  • Had mine since December, scanner works like the first day.

  • Hello, i just wanna ask do you use power button or touch gesture to open ur phone? If you use power button did your power button broken or unresponsive or else? I always use power button and its still in good condition but i just want to know if you already experienced with any problem using power button for a long period. Hope for a reply from you.. Thanks

  • turn of x reality and any other picture enhancement feature

  • six month passed and still i love my phone. tried several times to change with a newer phone but yet couldnt accept them. i like x compact for its battery life and great performance ehich i never saw on any other phones on the market

  • A SAR value over 1 W/kg! Sony wants to fry our brains.

  • Battery life in nougat is similar to marshmallow which is pretty good. I've only once flattened it in a day and that was when downloading loads of music at once and playing games. What isn't good is bluetooth sync to car stereo. None of controls work on tidal. I've heard it's same too with spotify. I have a VW system in my seat leon. With marshmallow works fine so I've manually downgraded which is not easy. Otherwise I'd recommend nougat as fluent and stylish but I'm sticking with marshmallow.

  • Updates are region and carrier dependent. What countries model is it, is it unlocked or a carrier model? You can get nougat with a custom rom if you're confident enough to do so.

  • About battery life 10% after 18 hours from disconnected from charger with 8.5 hours on screen For me very impressive

  • I still didnt get the nougat update for my Xperia X compact .. Can anybody help me please?

  • I bought this last month. Since I own an A7 and Note 5, I'm still getting used to typing on this phone. And the camera isn't really that great. But the automatic capture is useful, and the size is just right for my pocket. Also the battery is surprisingly adequate. I often play games on this over 24 hours before recharge.

  • i've had my x compact for a month now and couldn't be happier after using my sony xperia u for 4 years my sony ericsson t280i for 5 years my sony ericsson t610 for 3 years sony was my first phone and i have stuck with sony since. buy this device if you want the best compact phone in the world it might be pricy but in terms of durability, it gives you the best bang for the buck.

  • The USB connector and the speaker plus microphone require space at the bottom of the display.

  • I didn't notice a difference, still great. Might be some automatic optimisation stuff going on first couple weeks. I would recommend updating to the latest security patches anyway.

  • Guyss, i want to know the battery life of x compact after upgrade to nougat. Is it good like Marshmallow?

  • You might be able to enable volte, depending on the model and your network. This might help with calls.

  • I've been using Android since 2010, and because I've I only choose flagship phones and chose them wisely after research I've got amazing phones, using only 3 phones in 7 years. I had an LG G4 before this, but the phone was I've heating badly and I was afraid of the bootloop issue so I decided to cut the crap and switch to something else, and this phone caught my eye with it's size and design. I've been using it for a month now and it is an amazing phone. Screen size is perfect, with phenomenal battery life, it gets me through a day with no problem and I'm a heaving phone use wifi, lte downloads, gps and at least an hour of gaming plus an hour of emails. The audio quality is suberb honestly, this would make a perfect music player when I decide to buy another phone later on. The screen size is a bit tricky when typing but it's something you can get used to after a couple of weeks especially that most phones now and 5 inch and above. My only issue with this phone is the call quality, Sony has a complicated noise reduction technology that is locked and you can't change it, and puts down the volume of speech so the other person cannot hear you good at all times, I had the phone replaced the first week as j thought it was a problem with the phone, but the replaced one had the same issue, to make it clear, the other person on the call will never figure out of you are speaking to them from the bathroom or a car or from office, they cannot hear anything except your voice, and the louder the noise around you the more it cancels the noise including your voice. It's not a huge issue but k wish Sony enables us to switch this option off like other manufacturers or like their previous xperia phones. Other than this the phone is snappy, quick very responsive. You have to put this phone in your pocket to appreciate the size.

  • Just get a good looking skin dude, I got a black carbon fiber one from skinomi.

  • I dont know is it watetproof or not? But i often use this phone in water, just for test or to take some picture in water. If you want, i have its video, i'd recorded it. Sorry for my bad english :)

  • yes, 2017 or 2016 ?

  • you have no problem with screen siza iphone 6s 4.7". why not try the excellent c compact 4.6" screen size , cheaper very good over all, not wormong up as the new flageship compact xz1 ( snapdragon 835) around the corner just annonced . I used both the z5 very bad ( from king battery life of z3 to the worst in its category ) and the z5 compact two differnet worlds apart ( +50% battery life) than to the x compact which is better than z5 compact , I am happier with my x compact and waitnig for newly annonced xz1 compact ( the best compact in the world )

  • The back being easily scratched and a fingerprint magnet keeps me from buying.

  • I have to completely agree with your comment. the bottom bezel sucks.

  • Why did they have to make the bottom bezel so unnecessarily big. A bottom bezel which is bigger than the top one is probably the ugliest and least comfortable (because you hold your phone at the bottom-right or -left) design decision a phone manufacturer could make.

  • It is, just not certified as it would be too much hastle for the company.

  • Why isnt this water proof/resistant

  • Are you talking about Samsung A3? I saw it on Amazon.

  • Well they are very good choices mates but its really hard to decide which one do you really want to end up buying in the end. My pick would be the Iphone but Battery life and IOS sucks. The XA1 is good but has a Mediatek SoC and also just good battery life. Moto, not for me cause its Chinese crap(no offense), but its good for most reviewers out there.

  • Its not available in India i am looking for it every 10 days. They have release A4 and A6 but not A3

  • Dude the XA1 is haveing bigger screen which makes its screen pixelated and it has low power processor and it is alow end device x compact is better in every aspect..

  • If they would have the same price, Would you go for a Xperia X Compact or for the new XA1? I think the compact is a little bit better on many aspects but, how much better is the camera of the XA1? Looking at a comparison between both of them on gsmarena shows a big difference in lab tests.... Do you whink that it would be so great on a daily basis?

  • There must be some problem with your unit..

  • Still remains the same. I read that third party apps only read 8 mgpxls on every xperia phone. That's a shame.

  • With or without x reality on the slow rendering of images is present. Third party apps don't solve the pb - qiuickpick..

  • Try Samsung A3 ( 2017 ). It has 4.7 " Superamoled display and Dual sim . But only 2 GB Ram. But it is reasonably fast.

  • Android manufacturers are flooding the phone market with big screen phones now so that they can introduce bendable phone from 2018 which could be extended to double the screen size when opened like a book. eg : Samsung GalaxyX therefore everyone has to upgrade again coz of the new Fad.Thats how these manufacturees are/can sustain revenue growth. Truth is manufactureres cannot push for Hardware performance more than what it is now people are not expecting to watch 3d movies on mobile we can already see limitation on primary camera currently.

  • Shame on manufacturers i cannot find a dual sim phone with 4.5 inch screen and 3 gb ram even though i am ready to pay a premium i am stuck with s4 mini and i am waiting from F**ing 2 years to buy a decent phone. if iPhone makes a dual sim will switch to iOS i am fed up with andriod quality and manufacturers. Google will introduce some bug or remove a good feature in every new Andriod version to re-introduce in the next iteration to bring down user experience down so that they will upgrade when new version comes. Cheap tricks from google

  • Change the resolution in settings..

  • I sold my Z5 and now on the hunt for a more affordable one. Mainly iPhone 6S (which has come down in price now), the new Xperia XA1 and Moto G5 Plus.

  • Cheers mate, you solved the issue I had from the start.

  • I think the z5 is a bad phone. The design, the specs and the overall feel of the device is not good enough for me.

  • I bought this phone about a month ago. Everything was fine, until I notice rattling in a upper left corner. It is really annoying, especially when reaching notification bar.. What is more I did antutu benchmark test, and it shows that rear camera is only 8,3 mgpxl, is anyone having the same problem?

  • Turn off the x-reality

  • I got that issue, takes a couple seconds for my images to fully load. A workaround is googles photos app or 3rd party app.

  • ok. i got the x compact. a little slippery but i`ll get a case. my biggest issue with it: the time it takes to properly display a high res pic (taken or ddownloaded). i read about this and it is common to sony but all are waiting for sony to software fix it. anybody know about the possible fixies?

  • it is totally worth it trust me you wont be disappointed best phone in it's class

  • i've had my x compact for a month now and couldn't be happier after using my sony xperia u for 4 years my sony ericsson t280i for 5 years my sony ericsson t610 for 3 years yeahh am 22 and started using a phone at the age of 13 started with sony and have stuck with sony since. buy this device if you want the best compact phone in the world it might be pricy but in terms of durability, it gives you the best bang for the buck.

  • Just to let you know, the X Compact has been on Nougat for months now.

  • Yea, indeed, this phone is for compact lovers, people who don't need to carry a monitor in their pocket. If you want a big phone, they're millions. All others.

  • Wow that is insane (0_0)

  • Any ideas?

  • Sold my Z5 and now on the hunt for a "proper" Sony phone like the X Compact or the XZ. i don't do much gaming on my phone. The heaviest i could be doing is maybe watching a 1080p Youtube video whilst doing MS Word or note taking on Evernote or using Google Maps non-stop for 5 hours in an area with above average network signal.

  • then buy a 5" phone

  • X compact should last you through the day unless it's 4 hours of heavy gaming.

  • Very good phone hands down. You won't regret it. GO FOR IT.

  • Guys, i want replace my iPhone 5s to x compact for my go to compact device, What your opinion?

  • I will consider your insight on the 6S' battery life. Coz if the X Compact (or XZ or X) has much more better battery life (with "better optimisations" than older models) then that is where i'll go. I just wish the X Compact has 4.7" screen or more. I just think 4.6" is a tad small for my hands.

  • A screen on time of 7hrs is excellent right? My Z5 has a SOT of 4hrs and above but if i don't topup my battery in the morning for 30 minutes or midday my battery will die by 7pm or 8pm with my (I would describe) moderate use.

  • Because they are greedy and stupid, attacking 80% of market with 300 models while ignoring a virgin 20% market, people who wants a real compact phone. Apple figured out this and covered everything.

  • SE should have better battery life and is cheaper than the 6s. For an iphone it is a good value.

  • Obviously iPhone 6s has worse battery life because my sister's boyfriend had iphone 6s,it can't even stand to to watch movie for 3 hours or less and when you playing games, you can only play for an hour and half..... i don't recommend for it battery life but it have powerful chipset tho but I'm not like iphone after all cuz them are sucks for that price

  • One thing I noticed is after updating battery is worse for a week or two. Seems to be part of the optimisation process from the update. On my x compact I got 7:30 screen on time over a day and 11 hours with 15% remaining.

  • Ok. But not all devices had their battery life improved after Nougat update. My Z5 has been updated to 7.0 and without charging the phone midday it went from 100% (from 6am) to less than 10% by 7pm. Screen on time is 4-ish hours. Now, tell me this is bad coz I think it is based on my usage and experience.

  • why isn't there a compact android phone with OIS+fingerprint and good design? is it too hard? i dont understand why manufacturers are behaving like this

  • 6s has a worse score for battery life on this site, and the x compact was on marshmallow when it was tested, so will have improved a bit since then. I can vouch for the battery on the x compact.

  • I think you might heard of this thing called money? Not many have it and not many people have enough to buy phones. It would be nice to try one in stores but where I live the phones are either on demo mode, not charged or software's not updated. So it's a hopeless situation. That is why I go here for advice.

  • I heard iPhone 6S is a mixed bag when it comes to battery life. So you think the X Compact has better battery life as a whole than the 6S?

  • Buy and try

  • Can't get a better small android imo.

  • is it worth 380 euro or not? i need a small-ish, fm radio good camera, good battery phone. easy to handle. i currently have a mate 8 which is too big to carry around in summertime.

  • for the things you mentioned 6s is better but 6s battery sucks

  • if you have small hands like me you wont face any problem but for big hands its a little hard on typing

  • i dont think about your first question but for second 6s i highest then x compact then z5 compact x compact has great battery surely you dont need charger alot

  • Stupid question but does the new Qnovo battery charging system actually helps extend the battery life of the device? And between the Z5 Compact and 6S & X Compact which one has a louder speakers?

  • how is typing on this device?

  • I ran a quick poll on Twitter a few days discussing about speaker sound/loudness, battery life, general performance and one that would survive a dip in the sink, an accidental glass of water spill or exposure to light rain between the X Compact and the iPhone 6S. People voted for the latter. Comments please?

  • Went to a Carphone Warehouse and EE shop and was quite impressed with the memory management of the X Compact and it's bigger brother the XZ. Not so much with the speakers but maybe coz there were many people in the store. Now comparing it with the iPhone 6S: 1. Which one takes overall better photos both front & back including low light? 2. Which one has a generally louder speakers? 3. Which one has better wifi radios? Another thing I ran a quick survey on Twitter and got an overhwhelming vote for the 6S for being more safer on exposure to light rain or spills from a glass of water or soda. Agree?

  • Well it's been fine with rain, never been dunked.

  • Really? And did your phone got wet or anything and still working?

  • I would guess all models are built the same. I know my UK model has a gasketed sim/sd tray.

  • Do you have evidence or experience with the X Compact being a closet water resistant phone?

  • You know based on your experience with prolonged water exposure with a non-IP certified phone like the X Compact I'm very shocked to know that it has survived and has contunued functioning normally. I don't know what else to say or add to that. Perhaps best to still be careful. But with my everyday tasks I usually "wash" my phone in the tap (due to the day's use - dirty/oily hands, fingerprint marks, etc.) and had to use my phone in light rain due to the nature of my work.

  • Is it available in India? If so can anyone help me with the link

  • The X Compact actually is water resistant but is not claimed officially

  • I cannot quote any use right after the phone was submerged in my laundry- I am aware it is not certified for that and official Sony info states it is splash-resistant. So when I dropped it into the bucket filled with hot laundry soap solution I had to put rubber gloves and it took me about 10 seconds to do- and immediately rinsed the phone under the warm running tap water to remove chemicals' / soap residue and wiped it dry with a highly absorbent fibre gym towel. I did not press any buttons nor I activated any of the functions for about an hour or hour and a half after this little accident (just a common sane precaution) so I have not seen any messages nor can say whether phone speakers were affected during that time. However, after roughly 90 minutes phone I started to use the phone as usual and even though I was concerned next day that there might be some water managed to get in I had not seen any signs of internal condensate build up and have not experiences any operational malfunction. I guess that a great sign. Or I might be lucky but in terms of prolonged exposure to liquid (rain, laundry and sauna) my own unit seem to hold extremely well for non-IP certified phone. I am sure every manufacturer have devices that had better luck on the assembly line and able to withstand the elements better than other exact same phones out of the very same bath yet even in long gone days of Sony Ericsson phones they used to handle moisture better than other brands (excluding unlucky cases of submerging them fully, of course). IP or not IP.

  • Many thanks for the very insighful and honest assessment of your X Compact. Did you not find the speakers sounding muffled after all those exposure to liquid? And you said there has been no sign of moisture or condensation on the cameras (the usual weak points) or main screen or a message in the screen saying there is moisture in the USB ports and that you need to wait till the moisture decipates? And have you ever found the 4.6" a tad on the smaller side? (especially for me who have been using phones with screens of 5.1" and above)

  • I give you the info and you decide for yourself. I had: LG G5, Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge, iPhone 7 256gb, iPhone 7 plus 256gb, Motorola Moto G4 64gb 4gb RAM, Motorola Moto G4 Play. Samsung had the WORST indoor signal (two replacements!), LG was great but modular parts never sit together tightly and it was unsightly thing, iPhone 7- insufficient battery life, iPhone 7 plus proven to be annoying and impractical for sake of size alone (unless you need a tablet), Motorola G4 Plus was great but battery levels were going down too fast, G4 Play is just....cheap stuttering bottle-necking performance after month/two of use. Now. Sony Xperia X Compact is best-balanced option. At £220 UK retail European version there isn't that much competition. Best battery life with Stamina mode- goes long way (see my another post here covering battery life in-depth) with reduction of some performance but I tried hard to notice and I couldn't- it is just fast, responsive, snappy and running multi-apps with breeze. Super-Stamina alone is God-sent: I have not miss a single customers' call since I bough this phone (crucial sms and calls only lasts FOREVER when battery is at measly 12%). Boxy small body means I only slipped from my hand it ONCE- grip is utmost secure and comfortable. Operating it with one hand- that alone really makes handling and daily user experience worth the silly low price I paid for it. Menu layout is great, Custom Sony/ Over Nougat UI is pleasant, and easy on the eye, eve the most hated by me previously Sony "bloat" is...(well, most of it, for sure) surprise- highest USABLE quality and not stupid badly updated annoying rubbish of the past (never thought I ever can say something like this). Screen is not Gorilla Glass (ughhh) but I left it in my bag with pens and keys, in jeans pocket with coins, it survived friction of different rough mixed fabrics and yet it is free of ANY scuff or scratch. I am going to buy tempered glass scree protector just in case but so far so good and I was not exactly very caring owner, but I try to take care of my things and do not abuse them needlessly or for fun. That is a long-*ss essay but the epilogue is: I was completely frustrated with all my phones since Xperia Ray time (200.. ???) and only got this phone for sake of size with full expectation that a month later I will be looking to replace it with yet another phone. Why I put so much effort in writing these three part review - simply because I am free from daily dose of stress all other phones were giving me. Mission accomplished.

  • Choice of inexpensive daily workhorse mobile phone is always maddening and you are not alone. This is what my Sony Xperia X Compact have been through in two weeks: extreme humidity at 36C- passed (went with me twice to steam room at the gym 25 min x 2), drop test (involuntary) fallen flat at the back on concrete pavement (only TPU thin skin applied) - NO damage whatsoever - passed, getting soaked wet in my external pocket in backpack for the entire day on a day trip in the field- passed, and recently: two days ago it is slipped out of my shirt pocket into a laundry bucket full of hot soapy water. That's about it. Not sure if it is IP certified or not but the result is: I took it out immediately but it was properly submerged for about 10 seconds. I washed it under warm running tap and dried with a towel. No sign of condensation, no glitches, nothing at all. I hope it answers your question. My advise- it is definitely capable of surviving and forgiving. But it isn't a submarine.

  • I am using this phone from new (low charges count/ fresh battery) and it came with 7.0 installed. I am running it in always-on Stamina (not Super-Stamina) and it is roughly from 91% in the morning as I only quick-charge to 98% maximum / never over-charge (no overnight charging) to 13% the very lowest I ever get if I use it heavily (YouTube/ Camera/ Chrome/ a few Apps/ always-on Syncing/ NO gaming/ Location ON. NFC OFF, Bluetooth OFF) that is on 4G/ 3G with moderate (not always good signal- hence battery depletion is faster). But it is by far the best phone of this size and spec that gives me FULL REAL day of use in challenging conditions. If I stay home one full charge with moderate use of WiFi/ calls/ browsing a bit of YouTube and core aps gives me a solid OVER 48 hours use from 98% to 5% indoors use. The best phone I ever had.

  • How rhe battery life after updated to nougat?....please i need an answer ASAP....THANK YOU

  • And how about the European/UK model. Any ideas if these are also gasketed or nano coated somehow?

  • Pepsi test here. Japanese model is ip certified, and I've seen in teardowns that the us model is fully gasketed. Seems that they're all built the same, but Sony only pays for certification and gives water damage warranty in japan.

  • I'm almost going mad looking for my next "budget" phone. I'm currently choosing between a Moto G5 Plus, either an iPhone 6 or 6S and the X Compact. I'm very aware the X Compact has no water resistance but does anyone know if the actual body/build quality is safe for those odd accidental glass of water spills, dunking in the sink or exposure with light rain for few seconds?

  • The chance to have updates for the iPhone is much higher with Apple, than Android phones. On the other side this Sony is slightly cheaper than the SE.

  • For performance watch this: X compact has better main and front cameras, but se might be better in low light. SE is slightly more expensive and doesn't have sd support. Both are solid choices if you're impartial to os.

  • Are you kidding me, of course the x compact, the best compact smartphone ever.

  • People, pls help me choose iphone se or xperia x compact, I just want reliable, pocket friendly phone with a good camera and great performance.

  • I get serious slow downs in the top battery stamina level. And a bit of stutter in balanced mode, seems to be a limit on the gpu as its a framerate dip when switching apps rather than lagging. I keep mine in performance stamina mode, but that behaviour sounds normal in the other settings.

  • i had not this problem with previous version of telegram. before and currently i dont have this problems with all other apps such as whatsapp, .... all windows tasking and web surfing with motion graphics and all things are perfectly same as before even when i use high level of power saving. the problem is only only with telegram version 3.18.1 the funniest thing is when once i upgraded telegram to the 3.18 all older versions which i installed have the same problem!!! i dont know but maybe once i installed newest version for first time it changed something in my processing method...im really confused!

  • Sony has been very good about providing updates and security patches to the x compact - more than any other android I've owned.

  • I doubt that it has to do with the app you use, I think it is at fault Android 7 and you may try to revert to Android 6. Based on your explanations the blur is related to the processing speed, being slow when the power save is on. That means that the image rendering is using main processors less when the power save is on and the system cannot keep up with the task loads. Probably, on Android 7 the power save is more aggressive than on 6 or the system with Android 7 consumes for its inner kernel tasks more power in priority mode and the apps get less, this is common with all updates, the kernel takes more and more and the user apps less and less until your apps crawl and you run to buy a new expensive phone.

  • I think its app bug try contacting telegram dev

  • PLEASE HELPP!!!!!!! I have Xperia X Compact with Nougat 7.0 for a bout 3 months and i have updated latest patch updates too. since i bought the phone i was using latest version of Telegram on this phone (i dont remember what version it was but im sure it was not 3.18.1) and it was working very smooth and clear and i could switch between chat windows very very smooth even when stamina option was in very restricted mode. But since i updated my telegram to newest version 3.18.1 when i switch between chat windows i see a lag or something like slow motion effect and text appears to blur or something like this which bothers the eye when watching changing windows. this problem is very very serious when the stamina is set on very restricted. when stamina is on medium level the lags are less and when the stamina is on very light level the lags dont appear!!! Whereas i never had this problem before upgrading to 3.18.1 with all level of my stamina mode. on the other hand i tried many old versions of telegram but the problem still appears with all that old versions also. i cleared cache file too and it was not helpful. Please help me with that because i really care to use sony stamina mode to save my battery and im really satisfied with stamina levels specially with heavy mode. Im really waiting to hear from you guys.

  • Where I can get this?!

  • One month later I am very happy with this phone. I cannot stop all Sony crapware but I'll root it one day. Not a single scratch on the screen using it in pocket without any front protection. Contacts app is better at Samsung but this one handle imports better. It aldo got a bit warm sometimes. But overall a very good phone, basically the only new Android compact on the market.

  • Carrier dependent. If from EE, it will be enabled for volte on EE for example. You'll have to ask your network.

  • is it VOLTE supported

  • why are you so frustrated , if someone is trying to help you out

  • True, it is a bug. I do not know if it is in firmware, I mean low level software, drivers or it is in hardware. If it is in hardware, we lose the hope to ever be fixed. Unfortunately even if we turn off the ambient sensor from settings we get the proximity LED blinking when there is data transfer over mobile network. I wish SONY to recognize they do not have good QA in Thailand where the phone is manufactured and make corrections. The myth and slogans that it does not matter where the stuff is made proves to be the new failed policy. Keeping quiet about issues will guaranty the customer quit for other brands.

  • Found this about the xz: Proximity sensor and ambient light sensor use the same bit of hardware, so it's a bug when the ambient light sensor is of. Shouldn't be on then. Onscreen buttons are much brighter at night than that sensor on my x compact.

  • None of those apps are installed. Why do you speak in theory when someone in practice found a bug with a preinstalled software and already spent hours on forums searching the mysterious app when in fact all conclude it is in firmware.

  • Any app that involves motion or talking (Voxer, Skype, WhatsApp certain games etc) can activate the proximity sensor and keep it on. A lot of those apps start on boot and never go away. Close them one at a time, or consider uninstalling suspect apps temporarily. For hardwar test you can install Elixer2 from the play store (for free).

  • I have found a bug with this phone. I am disappointed that Sony does not verify better in quality assurance laboratories before to release it: the proximity LED light stays on (actually flickers very fast) all the time when the adaptive brightness is on. If you turn off the adaptive brightness then the proximity LED will flicker only when there is data transfer over network. Suck LED is very small, red, faint, visible only in very dark environment and it is placed at the right of SONY logo, to the left of status LED which is bigger. Such proximity LED which is defective should light only when a call over phone is active and it is used by a photocell to detect if the phone is close to the head in order to turn off the screen. The LED has (should have) no logic relation with the adaptive brightness, only the photocell is used both by adaptive brightness and by proximity sensor. Very annoying to see such little light blinking when we surf the web in the night.

  • Actually the price dropped to $329 see the link:

  • Available in California it costs $335 at Frys.

  • Yes but if something goes wrong then it's lot of problems. It's better to launch in India. But now I am buying Xperia x.

  • You can purchase from eBay.in at approximately 29000 rupees. They sell 'x 'compact after importing from USA.

  • Available in France it cost 430euros.

  • I want to buy Xperia x compact in India. Please help me.

  • 7.11 isn't out for non-google devices. It's probably the march security patch and/or bug fixes. So I recommend it.

  • Their is a new update after 7.0 should i update it

  • i changed a lot vefore but its the first phone im sticking for 8 month cant complaint about anything in it

  • Nice. I want sony to make one with an index finger dimple, then it'll be as close as possible to my old moto x.

  • I think mine is different....In the meantime I covered sides, the guy made a single piece of skin on back and sides too.... the result is just awesome. It feels firmly, like a different phone. I have chosen a different skin, more grippy, tried to take a photo but the result is really better in real. See it here: i.imgur.com/WoCrpNn.jpg in case the link is automatically deleted try this: i imgur com/WoCrpNn.jpg

  • I tried to find one that wraps all the way around the back and sides in one piece. Couldn't but skinomi should be quality.

  • It changes the feeling, it feels more firmly when you hold it. It also protects the back from scratches and fingerprints but I don't care too much about this. Be careful when you stick it, it should be exactly in the middle. I found a guy who cut them with some laser machine, I am analyzing the possibility to cover the sides too lol.

  • Got a carbon fiber skin getting delivered for mine soon. How grippy is it?

  • Bought this after Galaxy A3 2017 and I'll stick with it, it's a good nice phone. Pro: - decent compact size (could be a bit smaller though) - decent camera, good performances, radio, memory etc - usable with one hand, see above. - Nice features: photo button, screenshot on power button etc. Against: - no amoled but good screen. The difference is when you look from angle, like when used as gps in a car. - No water resist but it may be ok at splashes. - needs a carbon fiber skin on back for better handling, it slips a bit. - total lack of corners not an advantage at handling. When you hold it it looks nice, in pictures looks more like a brick.

  • OK, that may be true for your good self, but mine does come with the 410 as this is the only Sony device I own. I bought my X Compact from southeast asia. Thanks for confirming the problem, unfortunately I do not own a time machine to follow your advice. :-). It's cheaper to buy a new pair at this point... Looking forward to the XZ Compact! (hopefully with less top/bottom bezel)

  • Stock earphones with the X Compact are MH750, not MH410c. Something is not right there. However, I also have a pair of MH410c, about a year old, and they started having the same problem with the rubber band. You just need to handle them gently.

  • My Xperia Z2 almost 3 years still waterproof, I don't know why should you take your time trolling at here? It is any meaning for a better life for you?

  • Note:- for all sony xperia smartphones users or who want to upgrade their phone from other brand to sony brand please use clear bass function to enhance bass only with earphones or headphones connected(for best music listening experience)

  • for all, who have problem with bass or lack of bass in sony phones, please use clear bass function to enhance the bass requirements it works on all sony xperia smartphones, after all sony is no.1 in sound and music quality.

  • Thanks. Think I am going to the store right now

  • Don't use phone speakers much and I can't comment on the competition, but sound quality is pretty good. Bass is lacking but it is in every phone.

  • And sound, speaker phone

  • Use a case.

  • Thanks and sound. The z3 compact's sound was a big let down

  • Pretty sturdy and solid feeling, but the back panel does scratch easily. Dropped mine 2 or 3 feet a few times without damage.

  • I need help I really want to buy the compact x. I have a z3 compact and I am a huge fan. But I have questions about the body and speaker. Is the plastic body good quality, is it sturdy. No where can I see the phone or hold it in my hand before buying it. Don't want something flimsy.

  • You are welcome :)

  • Thank you very much.

  • Actually 20 and 23mp mode is available in auto. Must have changed with an update.

  • Downsampled to 8mp. Worth using the 20/23mp mode in good light.

  • It has it. What generation of gorilla glass hasn't been announced though.

  • Please provide gorilla glass

  • Is superior auto mode shooting at 8 MP? If not, what it is?

  • Hahahhaha..very hilarious post

  • There's a video of a pepsi test on youtube, and the Japanese model is ip certified with a warranty. I won't be dunking mine without a warranty but I'm not worried about rain getting on it.

  • You are liar. My Z2 still waterproof.

  • Watch this video..

  • Dude you missed up, it is Samsung who had the most water proof failures with their smartphones, Sony smartphones are the best waterproof smartphones and even their uncertified smartphones provides a decent immunity from water.

  • Sony has always suffered the highest failure water resistance failure rate of all brands. Even with its current models, this problem is not remedied..Best not to buy Sony phones.

  • I have read that Sony really did give the x compact water resistance just like z5 compact buy doesn't list it officially to avoid all the hassles from idiots swimming with it and taking under water pics in the ocean. Can anyone confirm, or dispute this with evidence?

  • I've only had this phone for a short while... the rubber earbud covers surrounding the metallic mesh is already coming undone (unglued & warping). I am using the stock earphones MH410c (written on the tag). Has anyone else experienced this situation.

  • My x compact always runs cool, overheating isn't an issue with this soc. Also i noticed poorer battery life after nougat for a couple weeks, then went back to normal. I'm pretty sure its battery optimisation following the update, sometimes goes a bit rogue. Anyone else experience better battery life a couple weeks after updating?

  • It's obvious Sony Apple Samsung stock holders all them are participating in an unspoken consortium. Nougat 7.0 update increases idle battery usage and overheats otherwise this product would be too valuable and take away from Apple ipho sales. It is a "hot phone". Get the joke? We are fool.

  • I own a z3, and yes it does heat up when playing high graphics games like most smartphones in the market, but it never shut down any app, be careful from fake reputations.

  • no it wont get heat at all

  • Does the X compact overheat and close down applications like the Z3 and other Sony phones?

  • Galaxy A3 is a low end joke. X Compact is best in class android phone. So go decide.

  • Galaxy A3 2017 or this little treasure? Is the camera of X compact good?Because fast shot with button on the right side is taking pics with 8 MP,the others (to 23 Mp) are useless.Pls help me,tnx!

  • Even at the same cost to you get an unlocked device and updates as soon as the oem releases them. No waiting on carriers for a month for updates

  • In deed I have the same thoughts, is just that I am waiting Nokia to release more coming models for comparison. Thanks

  • I am personally done with com providers and contracts. Much smarter option is to buy devices from some online shop through monthly payments. I buy them on 24 month credit payout policy from a reliable store, and get a much cheaper monthly sim option without contract that actually suits me and my usage routine. So I pay much less monthly for sim service and the device altogether, than people on recontracts. About half.

  • I can't find it from any Telco for recontract, feel sad and do not know why phone manufacturers are pumping ton of dollars but theirs end products are not within the reach of consumers. When time past, these become electronic wastes.

  • J is more like toy than phone.

  • If worst comes to worst, we can always fall back on Samsung's J series of devices for their removable batteries. I had a J1 (2016) earlier and was really impressed with the AMOLED display for a budget friendly phone.

  • Sony is in the process of handing over mobile battery buisness to Murata corp. But yes, still japanese. What Id like from Sony is to take over Toshibas semiconductor buissness and develop their own quality SoCs and memory chips, their mobile would be more competitive that way.

  • all these samsung fanboys would be interested to know that samsung is going to be using sony batteries on their galaxy s8. How funny that people talk shit about sony yet samsung now is going to rely on them more than ever.

  • X Compact. 2700mah battery is more than a daily driver.

  • Shouldn't be the smaller one?? Anyway, the x compact is better with everything except the selfy camera and display.

  • hey guys which phone would you recommend as a daily driver between xperia x compact and xperia xa ultra ?

  • You don't own this phone, so why are you saying its so great. ? You have no real life experience with it. I also don't own this phone, therefore I can't say if its good or bad..I see you in every different Sony forum acting like a owner. Do you even own a Xperia ?

  • Prepare 800$ son.

  • Tragedy is only Sony makes high end compact phones, I had Z3 Compact, bought for USD 490 on 13th month just outside warranty top part of screen stopped responding to touch where the notification panel is, spent USD 144 to fix it in Sep16 , now is Feb my phone died again and shameful sony is asking for USD 173 to fix it :( . I wish Sony made good quality phone that would last at least 2-3 years.

  • Stop gibberish here with your fake Story, fake experts. The Sony is Japanese brand, they won't design the flaws for it flagship, because they have use a longer period to develop a flagship, the camera lens position is the one of the design purpose.

  • Yeah I feel like with the new design sonys using the bottom panel could slide out quite elegantly. Even LG seems to be giving up on removable batteries now though

  • I really wish companies stop using glue to assemble their devices. I like how LG V20 opens up easily by pressing the back panel eject button.

  • There is no hardware fault, but only cosmetic issues. Surficial wrote "...there's a rubber gasket between the panel gaps and the internals." I guess the glue hardened with a slight twist of the panel from applying uneven pressure. I'll try to find the teardown to better understand the issue. Thanks

  • On the camera side looks same as mine, just seems closer on the other side. Seen a teardown and the back panel is really thin, but there's a rubber gasket between the panel gaps and the internals. So I don't think it'll cause any issues but I don't think sony will do anything about it either.

  • As long as it lens and sensor can function and no problem from the arrangement then it should be fine. The Note 7 battery we also can't see the inside, as long as it could function as normal battery like other, but unfortunately it explode and catching fire not like other.

  • Here is a photo of the uneven gap, I was complaining about, where the back plate meets the outer frame. In reality it looks worse than photo. What do you think? imgur dot com slash YYuwdUj

  • With the low-budget phone you can't expect capture good photo in low light and indoor, I have test the Xiaomi Note 3, it is mess the noisy mix-up with color grains unrealistic...

  • 100% right, thumbs up :)

  • Qnovo battery adapting charging technology is the best solution to the battery care, because it charging the battery with an intelligent way, the electric signals received by the battery's cell is more secure and it minimize any charging failure to the battery's cell and this will prolong the battery lifespan almost double up the battery lifespan. You can't know how it works because all process is running in the smartphone's battery during charging. I think the Google is free for searching the main source that I wrote here to justify it. Qnovo is always on research the battery charging tech in the real time, so please don't deny it functionality with your bias "review".

  • Why won't you count in the battery degrading?

  • Check out this video

  • Good specifications, but just with it has replaceable battery and dual SIM and a real home/ back button. Samsung do make small phones, but they are low spec.

  • Wrong, the discussion has been about battery age, not battery degradation. I have stated that batterys usually last 2.5 years. Can't you understand that ? Of course batterys degrade, everything degrades, including human beings. Even your prized Z1. Your wrong about Qnovo. It only says a 2 year lifespan with Qnovo fast charging. All recent smartphones have fast charging of some type. So, your personal 4 year battery dribble has no merit. Why don't you buy a Xperia X compact ? Your always talking about it. There cheap at $300. Can't you afford $300 ? Dunno where you got Xenophobic from ? Seems you are Paranoid.

  • Fella, we are talking about battery degradation here, not battery age. Owning so much phones, you must realize degradation is a fact. Your phone battery can be 10 years old even, but battery endurance will be....well, probably wont work more than an hour. Yeah, my z1c is now 3 years old, battery degraded to half of its endurance, so I changed it for a new one, now its on 1 whole day heavy usage again. Qnovo promises to keep the battery endurance running 2 years on same level, so yeah X Compact battery is expected to degrade to half endurance in about 4 years. Thats much longer than most people keep their phones before buying a new one. And that is one more reason to choose Xperia X series over other. People will not keep them as long to even notice degradation of endurance.... Which is a superb feature to have on a smartphone. P.S. You have a right to be sarcastic, but not xenophobic.

  • You assume too much and assume wrong...there are multiple smartphones owned and maintained by me, which is no business of yours nor do I choose to tell you. And if you read my comment correctly, I stated phones, not smartphones. Meaning I have even more phones owned and maintained by me. Most phones that I have owned, including smartphones, had battery life well over 2.5 years. If I remember correctly, you have been bragging about your Z1 with 3 years plus running its original battery. No qnovo on a Z1. So my vast experience is indeed award winning stuff as you so politlely stated before. Well it is, compared to you anyway. In my country, Z1 owners are usually 13/14/15 year old kids, due to parents only trusting them with an old, cheap phone. Probably the same in the USA where you immigrated to.

  • Chubby little cheap looking phone on the outside, normally I only want and use phones that look premium, but the X Compact has something special about it, a unique 'X-factor' or something haha. On the inside it can definitely compete with flagships like S7, HTC 10 in the performance department and those phones are almost twice as expensive as the X Compact where I live (Netherlands). I've got it for 330 Euro (430 minus 100 cashback promotion). The S7 is 610 euro, HTC 10 is 630 euro and XZ is 650 euro. I've compared X Compact with my Galaxy S6 and the X Compact is consistently faster with web browsing and opening apps. Gaming also goes really smooth. Camera is really great also in low light, the laser auto focus does his job really well. Battery life I get around 7 to 8 hours of SOT on a full charge and standby is superb too. With S6 I got around 3h screen-on-time.. I still have the S6 but I pick up the X Compact all the time for browsing, youtube, gaming and social media apps because of the faster performance and comfortable one handed usability. The Sony X Compact also runs on Nougat, and the S6 still has no sign of that update yet. Yeah, they say in the first half of 2017 so Nougat can also arrive in May or July even pfff... Samsung not good anymore for me, now I'm a Sony fanboy :) They really know how to optimize software for smooth operation and great performance.

  • Honestly i am impressed, my first xperia phone is x compact and i really impressed I used before a couple of samsungs, iphone 5s, many htc..but never xperia, but my wife got me this lovely mobile I am surprised with the camera, performance and how easy to take a screenshots, nice widgets also but not like htc regarding this, and particulary the spectacular battery life on this xperia, this is the best mobile i ever used regarding battery I have only very few comments, first it is a very thick mobile, i am not used to such a chunky body in my hand, Second, xperia is a bit like iphone in the issue of lack of customisation of themes, fonts and so on, it is not like htc and samsung regarding this But overall, i can say that really xperia is the best android mobile i ever used, sure the best, go get it guys, it is a very very good handset

  • Well, assuming you owned every for at least 2.5 years for your battery claim to stand scrutiny, and given a fact touchscreen smartphones exis lt about 10 years now.... Your vast experience on 4 smartphones you owned is....indeed award winning stuff.

  • My comments are from real life phone experiences. I have probably owned more phones than you have in years of age. Assuming that your a your young teenager. I suggest that you wait till you have more real life experience and knowledge about phones before embarassing yourlf here.

  • Purchase it just becoz it has 64GB internal memory & for sports. I had over-looked that it is without ANT+ Support. GPS is not as stable as my previous Z5 Dual & Z3c. Put it aside already.

  • My xperia sp 2 years 10 months old charged every day sometimes twice, battery still good.

  • I had compare the Xiaomi Redmi Note3, the camera is a mess especially the low light and indoor. My Xperia Z2 is 10 times better than it.

  • Purchase it just becoz it has 64GB internal memory & for sports. I had over-looked that it is without ANT+ Support. GPS is not as stable as my previous Z5 Dual & Z3c. Put it aside already.

  • 2.5 years?? And smartphone battery?? Why should I argue with you if you want to believe of what you want?? I argue to prove facts, you argue to prove what you believe.

  • What's wrong with its hardware?? Did you use this smartphone, it is super fast no lags, consider it has better chipset and ram, don't think that it is going to be better, not at all, there is something called efficiency, the snapdragon 650 and the 3 GB of ram are sufficient to power this smartphone perfectly, so what do you want??

  • Too expensive for that hardware lineup. My Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 pro has much better hardware for less money, just to give an example. Dont get tricked by the Smartphone industry giants like Sony or Samsung. Their smartphones in the low-up budget range are not worth the money!

  • Please read qnovo blog. Its the most comprehensive data base on present battery tech tests, problems and solutions.... After reading that, its just ones personal choice not to believe in their solution....which actually works. So no matter, if one choses not to believe in qnovo....let him enjoy fast degrading batteries of their other brand phones.... Its their choice afterall...

  • Most batterys already last about 2.5 years. Qnovo is a new teh from a company in California and Sony only uses it. And its only useful if someone has a regular life time table. If you useage time changes, then qnovo is useless. Plus there are numerous other battery techs out now, including qualcomm ver4.0. But qnovo is not proven yet, although its looking good.

  • Well i see no ridiculous statements in his post, without Qnovo and battery care the battery of the Xperia smartphones usually works perfectly for almost 16 months, so why the wondering, it may last for 2-2.5 years with these two features.

  • Not believing in the feature is entirely your problem fella. Nothing has to be proven, its in the specs and stated so on Sonys site.... So it is as it is....Xperia X series has double the battery life span than any other brand. I could as easily say for ex, I dont believe any new SMI battery will not burn, as it has yet to be proven they will not.

  • Qnovo technology is only new in phones and yet to be proven. Doubling the battery life is just plain nonsense. The next 2/3 will be the real test. Do you work for Qnovo or something, to make such a ridiculous statement.

  • What part of Qnovo feature dont you understand? Battery of X Compact starts losing its capacity only after 2 years of usage exactly. So, you can be cool with Xperia battery for at least 4 years... Double than any other brand.

  • Love this cutie. Best mobile, camera sound battery display everything is lovely and amazing

  • To increase the speaker volume you can go to Settings > Audio Settings > Sound effects > Equaliser Custom > Drag all sliders up to +10. It works much better than than Clear Audio+, so you can better leave that off.

  • From what I understand, most brands implement dual standby mode and not the more useful dual active. Also, what's wrong with visiting your service center every two years to have them replace the battery?

  • It is a shame it is not dual-sim. Don't like phone without removable batteries. Great for people who throw their phones in the garbage after a 2 years. But some us keep our phones for longer....

  • Home button built inside the screen, not good.

  • An over-priced mobile in terms of specs & built. For people who want to distinguished themselves. Most suited for up-class lady at an ideal screen size. Not certified as water-proof; only splash proof.

  • Having the same issue. But not about Z5c, rather X against X Compact. Im going for XCompact I guess, not a gamer so dont care for top notch graphic performance or bigger screens in that regard, although sd650 is quite sufficient even in that field. Batterylife and qnovo protection is important to me so I ditched the Z5c notion. New Camera tech also attracts, and I really dont care for 4k. Because I watch videos a lot, only thing in question was.... Do I choose X for bigger screen, or X Compact for better daily batterylife? And the question still haunts me to this day :-)

  • I really dont mind sd650, its an excellent SoC, but I miss the waterproof certificate, although I know its most certainly splashproof none the less. 4k video I really dont care about, dont know anyone that actually does, other than bragging rights nobody actually uses it. All I really care is in there, excellent build quality, battery, camera, sound, all top connectivity(although Im a bit reluctant on that usbC being not standard yet), fast and fluid performance. Im getting this, with first next price drop I hope.

  • Nah, the question was raised about some XZ Compact version to some Sonys ceo.... It was said that X Compact was a decision made by user inquiry. Sony Compact phone users prefer it for the camera, audio and batterylife...therefore a decision was made to implement it with sd650 which suffices for these tasks and is good on battery. It is also graphicaly sufficient for gaming, but a survey showed actual gamers prefer bigger screen devices. All in all lack of waterproofing and sd650 are pricecut decisions, while leaving all the important stuff in. I kinda agree... For a 300$ device now, this is the best Compact phone you can get.

  • My guess is the next compact release will be in the July/August time frame? Are you willing to wait this long?

  • Should I buy this phone? Or wait a new compact version that will come??

  • Agreed.

  • X compact can record 4k video with third party apps. X compact seems to be unoficially waterproof, whereas z5c is certified and has a warranty for water damage. Z5c has a more powerful gpu, but xc has enough power for 720p gaming. But real world x compact is a better device

  • The x compact is better with everything but it is not waterproof, and it doesn't record 4k.

  • i bought the z1 compact a few years ago and now i need to change it and want the x compact. it´s really a better "compact phone" or it´s better the z5 compact than the X Compact?

  • Thanks for your reply. Glad to hear your device is perfectly assembled. I'm not sure why I check it for water resistance since the device is not advertised as being water proof. --- ying zu wrote "Somebody most probbably left your phone on an oven " Could be. I'm not sure why quality control haven't rejected my copy. I guess I'll have to live it. It's perfectly sized for my hands compared to my previous largish Huawei P9

  • Somebody most probbably left your phone on an oven

  • Gap seems even on mine. There's an app called xperia water test that checks if your phone is airtight when you press on the screen so you could see if the gaps are more than cosmetic. Not sure if you could get a replacement though

  • I bought a white Sony X Compact yesterday. I really like the display, size and performance of this device, but I am a little bit disappointed in the build quality specifically regarding the back plate alignment. The front (display) side was good (no problems detected) but the back plate does not seem to be perfectly aligned at the top and bottom (as if there is a slight twist). There is an uneven gap near the top edge where the back plate meets the outer frame (more of a gap on the top left side than top right). And a similar (but less obvious) uneven gap at the bottom where plate meets the frame (less severe than top gap). I don't know if this could be the color white where it is easier to detect flaws like this or is my phone not built within factory tolerance? Is this normal among owners of X Compact? Please have a look at the back plate / frame I would be most interested to hear any comments

  • Hey there, sorry I have no idea.

  • Ali , i have 2 question 1-do u know how can i sync my newest version of whatsapp (on Nougat) to whatsapp windows version on pc? ( i did it before with blackberry via qr scanner in bb10) but in android i cant find any scan option in setting. 2-do u know how can i dedicate and customize a different sms ringtone for each contact? i mean for example 5 different tones for 5 different contacts? ( i did it with all call rongtone, but i cant see any option in contact setting) indeed i dont want to use any extra app for it, i want use it if its available in Nougat by default. thx.

  • Hello Nima, excellent suggestions of older phones such as the Sony Z1 compact (found in your link). I do prefer current models because who knows what happens to the battery sitting on shelves for so long and where I'm living it's not even possible to buy a "new" older phone (only a used one which I prefer to avoid). Thank you all (Martynas, Nima, Surficial, Ali Bashir) for your great comments, suggestions and advice. Most of you did not like the Iphone SE display; noted. I do prefer to stay in the Android device ecosystem so my only choice is the Sony X Compact (highest performance device with the shortest/narrowest dimensions).

  • You are welcome :).

  • thx for ur advise buddy, ok i did it im new here anyway ;)

  • The iPhone se screen is disappointing.

  • Nima, when you want to talk to someone press the reply button at the right side below his post then write whatever you want.

  • Don't think they exist. There was a 4.6" xiaomi with sd820 rumored but don't think that will be getting released. I recommend this or an se if you want something smaller than it

  • Anonymous i think smaller and shorter dimension is not available easily becoz it surely will be less than 4.7 or 4.6 inches screen, maybe old phone u may buy. maybe link below help u (see the table bottom of the webpage):

  • I'm not sure how to do that. I'm looking for a 650 SOC or higher and dimensions shorter and narrower than a Sony X compact. The advanced search is not so user friendly.

  • thanks for your advice. you honor 8 is not so compact, is it? it seems to be taller than a samsung s7! No, only x compact. Iphone SE is compact device with a great performance, but the screen is bad. I wanted compact phone too, but there are just a few options, so I went with honor 8. And I will wait for xperia x compact successor.

  • at the moment, i have a huawei p9. i find it too big for my hand to easily grasp comfortably. it's just too large to use one handed at least for me

  • Yeah, I also had my Z-Ultra until a month ago but the screen shattered for the second time. I didn't consider repairing and bought C9 Pro. After 4 days I'm just telling myself Whyyyyyyyyy I didn't repair the broken Z Ultra??? It was faaaaaar better than the new C9 pro. I just missed it so0o0o0o0o0 much.

  • 23mp is exclusive for xperia phones

  • My BEst phone with sony is the original monster Z-Ultra. im still using it now after 4 or so years.. that phone is so well though of (except fo the thick bezel on top and below), its still relevant today. i even consider buying another one. but your current phones are like freaking SOAP BARS! its to ugly even to consider, even nokia went down the drain with that kind of design.

  • Anonymous: use this link and categorize your search according to wat u want

  • No, only x compact. Iphone SE is compact device with a great performance, but the screen is bad. I wanted compact phone too, but there are just a few options, so I went with honor 8. And I will wait for xperia x compact successor.

  • Ok may i ask if what is your phone?

  • hello sony compact fans, do you know if there are any phones with the same perfomance (or better) and same size (or smaller) as the X Compact?

  • Ugly phone

  • hi Surficial, i did wat u said but there is only "Set Ringtone" which it can set a different ringtone for each contact..but as its clear there is no message ringtone option for it

  • i like this phone alot. great battery life. great screen. no hang or lag. not getting warm on games. hope on next one they add dual sim option

  • The 23 mp camera from Sony is Low-end

  • Click on the contact. Then click the pencil icon. Then click on the three dots in the top right. Should work

  • Hi Pengiun yes i know, but in Nougat there is only contact ringtone available for each of them, there is no message alert to customize for each contact

  • sony will release 23mp midranger in feb.

  • Like in marshmallow you can do goto contacts and select the contact over which you want to assign a specific tune !! It would be there for every contact you can do it separately. No 3rd Party apps needed .

  • Fabulous battery life on this phone and the Nougat update is fast, smooth and stable. On standby I get literally no drain at all

  • hi Anonymous thx for ur reply but i prefer no third party app, im looking for default way naturally from its own OS. is there any way without app?

  • You can use another texting app that supports that feature. TextraSMS let's you customize each contact.

  • this is a good phone but some things I really don't like about it are: - Plastic body ( Sony should made it like Xperia X type design because it is compact version of Xperia X, not XZ) - they should have give us 13MP like then have given in Xperia X - the Display Alignment in not correct (The bottom bezel is larger than top bezel)

  • Hey guys. i bought X Compact few days ago. i wanna know is there a way to dedicate a message alert for every single contact separately? for example i have 5 contacts and i want to dedicate 5 different message sound for each of them to recognize when i hear the sound. i prefer no third party app. my android is nougat 7.0 build No: 34.2.A.266 Thanks.

  • Bigger battery for what (0_0), the battery performance of this smartphone is fabulous.

  • doesn't need to be bigger. the phone gets crazy battery life and feels great in hand. idk if i'd want it any larger.

  • Z3 is no match for this beast, the x compact is much much better.

  • X compact unless the z3 is dirt cheap. Better performance, camera and battery life. Also just got nougat and has 2 more years of updates, where z3 is stuck on lollipop

  • Never understood why sony not even dare to put big battery

  • So you mean to say that you don't need the latest android version when it comes to Sony??

  • Z3 (5.2'', with 3 gb ram,original not compact) or X Copmpact.... ??

  • Who of the two are trolling lol. The numbers show there is a slight improvement of around 20-40 min. Depends on the person if it is insignificant or significant. But there is improvement with the update. I did my own research haha, I just think both guys are too extreme. My opinion is yes there is improvement, but not by a large margin. I would update either way, maybe it would help with battery life in the long run.

  • i can smell that someone is trolling. LOL I have already placed my order and will be getting my hands on my xperia x compact tonight. will post my personal review/opinion once i have it up and running. :)

  • Again lying. You have just contradicted yourself by your own reply. Why do I need to even discuss this? The links and numbers are there. What the ... is wrong with people like you?

  • You are welcome...

  • Here is a owner with 2 comments. Saying that Nougat "is pretty much the same and it is almost similar"...."if u ask me keep android 6, u dont need nougat it doesnt make big differences"... Nothing about the huge battery improvement that you ridiculously claim and ridiculously want to believe. gstester 05 J2017 JEb% I have android 7 on sony xperia x compact and i havent experienced any major differences it is pretty much the same whether u keep android 6 or 7. gstester 05 Jan 2017 JEb% I've upgraded to android 7 on sony xperia x compact not such a big difference it is almost similar if u ask me keep android 6 u dont need nougat it doesnt make big differences. Don't waste your or my time by net trolling again to satify your infatuation of Sony. Knowing your history here, very few believe anything that you say. BTW, your links are in some bizzare Eastern Block language that no one understands.. Have you forgotten the rules here "English only"

  • You don't own this phone or XZ or any updated Nougat device either. You don't even own a recent smartphone, only an ageing Z1. At least I own a Z5. And I don't believe such battery improvement is possible. Knowing of your past behavoir here, I would say that you have trolled the net for hours to find that wrong info.

  • hi Ali, thanks for replying. What is the advantage of having 4k video recording, sure don't mind having waterproofing for my phone for now. But 4k video recording got me interested.

  • PCMark batterytest of X Compact before nougat was about the same as XZ (6:36h against 6:17h): Now in PcMmark its significantly higher, 659min of X Compact (nougat) against XZ 467min (without nougat). So yes, a very significant increase in X Compact batterylife after nougat update. As is on XZ with nougat(unfortunately not seen here, as rev was without updated XZ)

  • Indeed. X Compact with nougat is marvellous. Im getting it :-)

  • No. You dont own this phone, nor XZ, or any nougat updated device for that manner. X Compact batterylife HAS improved with nougat and nobody here said otherwise. Stop lying.

  • If you can live without waterproof and 4k video recording then Xperia x compact is much much better.

  • You don't own this phone. Yet, claim that battery life has improved after Nougat update. Some users here have said that there is NO improvement. Stay with your Z3 phone and only discuss what you know, instead of blinding lying and promoting other Sony phones.

  • Why are you asking for removable battery, you may not remove it before 2-3 years of usage, 1) because of the excellent battery care 2)720p 4.6 inch display + snapdragon 650 + 2700ma battery + sony smartphone = amazing battery life especially after Nougat.

  • Great size. But shame it does n't have DUAL SIM or removable battery.

  • x compact or z5 compact?

  • Most certainly yes, they release a Compact every year. But probably about september 2017. In 2016 they released this one, but unusual for them, with midrange SoC. Remains to be seen if they will release some Compact with flagship rate SoC in the meantime (march-april). Sony just keeps it all mostly under wraps, with only mostly madeup false rumors, so no one really knows what they ll come out with until its official. Although performance wise, (as far as my needs are concerned tho, not a heavy gamer) X Compact has the UI speed and almost all flagship features I care for, with an excellent midrange SoC, for a very good price now.

  • The camera is fantastic!!! It has manual focus option like Nokia 1020!!!!

  • The phone is excellent! The camera is amazing with an extraordinarily quick perfect autofocus. The baterry is fantastic! If you use your phone normally it will keep 3 or 4 days!

  • Thanks for the quick reply. Does anyone know if Sony plans to release a new compact phone in 2017? Didn't see anything about it at CES 2017.

  • Xperia X or Xperia X compact?

  • 1. X Compact is better performer than z5c, although its high quality only plastic build and no ip67 rating. But it is splashproof even if not labeled as so. Go See it tested in speed and water proofnes by yt users. It can record 4k also, just through 3rd pary apps, if thats your thing. 2. Yes, you can buy an international version with fingerprint from amazon site. Or buy US one and simply flash uk firmware to enable the fp sensor. Go there on amazon and read US user comments from all X series who got the international version to get more info on signal provider viability.

  • Looking for your opinion folks: I want to replace my Galaxy S6 with a good all around 4.7-4.5" phone. Been interested in Sony's compact phones. 1. Which is better - Xperia X Compact or Xperia Z5 mini? 2. I live in the US and want the version with the fingerprint reader. It is available through amazon (unlocked) but without warranty. Is it even worth it?

  • Think you are comparing the SIZE and not the spec's. Sam A3 is mid range but Sony compact it is like a mini Lamborghini.

  • i have android 7 on sony xperia x compact and i havent experienced any major differences it is pretty much the same whether u keep android 6 or 7

  • i ve upgraded to android 7 on sony xperia x compact not such a big difference it is almost similar if u ask me keep android 6 u dont need nougat it doesnt make big differences

  • what about the latest update (android 7.0 - ver. 34.2.a.0.273)??? somebody has tested yet? i would like to read your opinions. thanks.

  • X Compact may is comparable in speed to S series ;-)

  • That true. Even flagships cant beat X Compact clearly: Its really one amazing android device for the price.

  • 1)Xperia x compact 2)Xperia z5 compact 3)IPhone se Even z3 compact is better than those galaxy a3

  • What's it? So what be your recommendation?

  • Samsung a3 series!! Sorry, but these are not even a smartphones.

  • X compact is faster than all the 2017 a series with octa core a53. And the battery is bigger than the comparably sized a3

  • I still prefer size in 4.7", 4.6" may be too compact to squeeze more room for its battery capacity. Hope the next lineup will have something comparable to Samsung A series mid range.

  • You got it but any compact will do as long as the specs will interest me...

  • YEAH I am also hoping so.....XZ Compact may be "X Performance 2" and mid-ranger "X2"

  • Perhaps xz compact.

  • If sony is planning to release a 2017 phone and doesn't interest me i will probably get the x compact...

  • Buy Z3 and then go for XZ. S7? Lol. Go for Sony.

  • Actually I am thing to buy Z3 instead of X,XC or XP... to save money and will buy SAMSUNG S7 or Xperia XZ in 2018 when the price of both will go down too much..... :P :P :P

  • What about Xperia X? Performance is really great and with Nougat the camera and battery got even better. Now with manual shutter speed and focus. Battery at 75% after one day of usage. Everything is perfect - metal backside, great camera, 2 1/2 D glass, fast fingerprint etc...

  • My sim free uk model did. MH750 was the model number

  • i want to know about the headphones... i have watched many videos on youtube.in many videos headphones are present in the box but in many videos headphones are not present in the box... pls tell me about this....

  • Wow only xperia x compact left with good specs with below 5" screen.3 other good phones got cancelled. Meizu pro 5 mini, lenovo zuk z1 mini and samsung galaxy s7 mini. They left without other choices, either sony or apple is only available. People getting bigger and bigger screens without they realize that its so much uncomfortable holding without single hand. Luckily they still produce 5" and thinner bezel over years that quite comfort to hold using single hand

  • Awaiting to buy in 2 months time. This device indeed gives a Compact marvel feel whenever I try it out in a store. :-)

  • whether there is a video recorder x compact its

  • I got the Nougat 7.0 update this morning 9.30 UK time.

  • really nice piece with great specification

  • 2 hours with the in box charger (which is 1.5A btw)

  • Xperia x compact is the best compact smartphone......

  • i want to bought this in India please help me ,

  • About 2 hours and 25 minutes, but who cares !! the battery life and health of this smartphone is fabulous, with battery care you may have 2.5+ years of normal usage without exchanging the battery.

  • Superb smartphone! Battery, screen, speakers, design, conectivity! Feels like a S7 mini with the great promise of quality by Sony. Camera processing should be more worked and maybe on next updates will be done. GREAT JOB SONY!

  • how long does it takes to charge from 0-100%?

  • I had also z1 compact before.. and upgraded it to X Compact.. theres in my even no point to think about buying z5 compact.. X is better in any way.. and it can also record 4k video with another app and as tested, its waterproof too.. and yes camera makes better pictures, fingerprint sensor.. etc..

  • Why is the headphone jack still up there???

  • Both x compact and z5 compact are great but z5 compact is 1.5 years old, so probably Nougat is the last version, overall, the Xperia x compact is the best compact smartphone until now.

  • Well, I never owned z5 c but z3 c is its predecessor and I really liked it. Z5 turns out to be lagless than the z3 c. Get the user reviews. Its said that z5 c is better that x c but I would never know. If u prefer waterproof with more display options, z5 c. But its 2017 soon.... Check out my review of x c below. Hope it helps.

  • You are more than welcome

  • And what do you about heating of X Compact I am not a gamer but need to know about it while using camera.....??

  • I guess you mean X not X Performance. X Performance is about 150-200$ more than X Compact. X and X Compact....a tough decision yes, both superb phones.

  • You asked me the same question....

  • I'm trying to decide between X Compact and Z5 Compact. I currently have z1 compact. Want something reliable that won't crash all the time, fast camera start up and reliable touch screen. Heard Z5 compact has some issues? Other phones I'm considering are Samsung A3 2016 and Sony XA. Can anyone please help me decide?

  • UPTO how much extent XC camera is better i mean I am leaning towards Xperia X performance becuase of its SD 820, design and metal back... As I dont feel Xperia X compact plastic body looks as good as X performance metal + plastic body but the main thing that bothers me is The heating of smartphone because Summers are really hot here in my country.... :)

  • Alex, thank you very much, from a time to another we need a honest review instead of trolls and lies, thank you....

  • I had a choice - iPhone SE or X compact. My opinion on X compact (hope it helps anyone): Pros: Perfect fit in hand (if one doesn't like big phones) and desing (for me) Really nice focusing of camera (the manual usage only) in pictures AND video is much better (no prob of night shots, I work at club and it handles the situation perfectly). Nicely fast gadget Insane battery life (I use 6 social net app synced, messenger, viber, 3 e-mails synced, youtube and periscope live features and it last since last charge 24 + hours, not kidding at all). The only reason I didn't buy SE was the battery life (none of my friends recommended SE, because they do know my paranormal usage of the phones) Cons: Waaaay Too Overpriced for the above mid - ranged gadget Not waterproof Andoid NOUGAT - horrible interface - even Sony lost its petite looking notification menu Needs to be treated carefully because of less scratch resistant plastic back (I put it with the screen downwards) OVERALL: DO NOT HESITATE TO BUY, if you like compact sized phones

  • Both has the same camera sensor, the x compact has a laser auto-focus which is super gast, and the RGBC-IR sensor which delivers incredibly accurate colours, whether you’re in bright sun or indoors. It analyses and adapts to any light, reproducing colours almost as you see them.

  • Interesting!! The primary camera and the battery are better in x compact, everything else i give it to x performance, keep in mind the camera of x performance is already awesome and the waterproof....the battery is very good, but the x compact is a battery beast.

  • And what do say if I get x performance instead of x compact as it is about 25 USD expensive than X compact....

  • Choose between Xperia x and x compact, the x compact is better than the regular x with everything except screen resolution, size, selfy camera.

  • only thing need to add is dual sim VoLte

  • Did I ever say and where its a z5c successor?! As it stands its perfect for me, because its cheaper price range than z5c also, because lacking to me some unimportant features, but also having some indeed important features over z5c. Its a superb bang for the buck just as it is.

  • Sony warranty is only valid in country of purchase...no international warranty applies...you need to take that into account.

  • go for x compact for perfomance and lag free. huawei and oppo lags after months of usage also their camera. samsung lags but good camera a bit saturated

  • To be honest, this phone really reminds me of Nokia Lumia. The lower bezel is just too huge and looks like a plastic unibody from Microsoft phones... Z5 was just so much better in terms of looks.

  • Justifying a purchase by saying you don't care about a missing feature is bollocks. This phone is a downgrade for z5c users. There is no denying it. At this point we can only hope that Sony eventually comes out with a worthy successor to the z5c. But the XC is not.

  • Yeah I also Agree with you.... Sony phones are good for long term usage..... :)

  • no offense but i would rather have any mid ranger drom samsung sony htc or LG than to have a high end chinese phone

  • I am not asking about that ffom where I can get official warranty.... I am asking that ... is it safe to buy SOny phone without oficial warranty.... they are new imported from Dubai or from UK but personally by shopkeepers...

  • At the beginning, i thought that a Samsung or apple, LG, fan came here as usual to troll and prove that his beloved company is better than sony, but Huawei !!? Oh my god! This is so weird (0_0).

  • Forget about what people says, but no official warranty!! I don't know what to say...

  • Sony is too insensitive.... Boxy rectangular, poor sound and huge bezel phones? Look at Huawei specially the new Curved Glass P9 phone how beautiful it is. Huawei is an amateur in the industry but look at how they aggresively prospered in the market. In Oman, you can seldom see Sony displayed in vendors' shelves. Its either samsung, huawei or iphone. One time last month my friend and my boss ask me what i can suggest as they want to purchase new phone. He opened his browser and typed the specs he want (4gb+ RAM and 128gb+ memory) then no sony came out. They asked the specs of my phone Z5 Premium and they commented ONLY 3GB RAM and BOXY? Disappointed... The day after they both bought S7 Edge... So where is Sony?

  • X Play. Better than the Lenovo K6 in all the aspects. And it will receive Nougat, while Lenovo-branded devices have ''Chinese update policies''. Read: We don't even know if they will get security updates at all.

  • Thanks ALi what should I do in that case I really like Sony Phones but these - ve kind comments make me feel not to buy Sony Infect in my country there is no market value of Sony, No official warranty available the brands those are popular in my country are Samsung, OPPO, Huawei, and people always use to recommend me phone from these brands...so I have to think a lot before I one and also I don't want to loose my hard earn money ... Camera and Lag free experience is my first priority.

  • Visit chinese threads for your answer.

  • moto x play or lenovo k6 power any suggestion ?

  • True. But X Compact is superb device for the price. Except ip rating and SoC everything else is flagship level. It seems to be water resistant too even if not advertised or claimed as such. Anyways, I indeed believe a XZ Compact or alike is on its way. But I like the pricing of this one more now. For lower price (350€ now) I get all the quality Xperia features minus ones I really dont care about, like 4k video and highest perform game graphics (although it is indeed on sd808 graphics level).

  • Yes and No, sony makes great smartphones yes, but their midrange smartphones especially nowadays are very good quality, the right word to say is that people shouldn't expect a flagship performance from a midrange smartphones, while in fact, even their midrange smartphones some of them are half flagships in real life like Xperia x and x compact.

  • Did anyone consider the XZ before buying the Xc? For me, it comes down to XZ is waterproof versus Xc has FM radio. Which is more important?

  • Xperia M is cheap today but it was mid range priced phone when I bought it and cost several times more than cheapest Chinese phones. While I of course didn't expect AAA quality, I didn't expect faulty phone with non working basic function as GPS either. Xperia Z3 Compact that my friend had cost more than Xperia M but it was letdown too. Based on my experience I think that Sony phones are overpriced and low quality. Maybe not all, but you can find lots of complains on the net even about top of the line phones.

  • However, sad to point out, the Xperia X compact is no longer following Sony's former Top of the Line Compact legacy, the latest compact is just a mid-range phone, and alas no waterproofing. This is a no go for me. No thanks, I'll stick with my Z5 Compact.

  • My phones from Sony was and still are a dream come true, 3 compacts thus far. Sony makes great phones, you just need to get the top of the line. You shouldn't expect AAA quality if you only want to pay with peanuts for mid to low range Sony models

  • Hey there, be careful from trolls and lies, the anonymous which replied you is not the same which you replied, just be careful.

  • I had Xperia M - GPS did not work properly from the start and my phone very often could not get coordinates at all. It was never fixed. FM tuner did not work at all from the start too but it was at least fixed after some time with a firmware update. Battery life was awful - it lasted hardly half a day with moderate usage. And in the end my phone died with internal storage failure and I lost my data. My friend had Xperia Z3 Compact with different hardware problems but similarly awful experience.

  • what happened my friend please elaborate so others who are going to buy it may get help.... :)

  • It's sad that almost nobody except Sony makes these compact phones. I prefer them but as a former owner of Sony phone will never buy anything from this firm even if it was only remaining phone in the universe. My phone from Sony was nightmare.

  • Omg this phone is 299$ ...i have a good feeling about this a new unit is coming soon...:-D

  • No problem dude, there is a lot of dictionaries apps in the playstore, take a try ;-).

  • Hi, You can go to China and ask them to build a phone phone according to your specification. You don't have to involve Sony in this. Or You can buy Blackberry company because things are not working at their end.

  • Can't understand your English either...

  • If this compact phone had dual sim card, the next day i would buy this phone.

  • I didn't understand anything what you said.

  • no! kill it. this is the last small phone we got, dont you dare mess with it

  • Guys! anyone could get me in touch with Sony to make a new compact phone but with a dual sim device instead of one?

  • Xperia x "not compact" hight: 14.3 and five inches FHD display, amazing stuff, so what do you think?

  • S5 mini is great and water resistant. Cheap now and still fast

  • Hey everyone, just wanted some feedback regarding an issue I began having this week with my X Compact. Issue: The phone is not as responsive during the unlocking process as it once was. I used to simply swipe to unlock and the phone would immediately unlock with a simple swiping motion. Now, the phone requires a harder swipe before it unlocks. Any ideas? Facts: 1) Smartlock is activated, 2) Phone has not been dropped or been damaged by water, 3) No other hardware or software issues are a concern at the moment, 4) The lock screen option is on "Swipe", 5) Phone is running the latest software (November security update), and 6) the regular Sony launcher is being used. :) Any suggestions are appreciated. Thank you

  • Thanks, I have been doing that and I agree, this is the best compact smartphone at the moment. So far I prefer the height of the phone to be no bigger than 140mm. And if it can be close to a 5 inch screen size, even better. I am not focused on specs. But as long as it can be a good mid tier phone then I am game for it. The new Samsung a3 2017 looks like a decent one. I used to have the htc one mini and loved it. Too bad they don't make minis anymore. Currently rocking the s4 mini but it is slowly dying. Any more suggestions for compact phones

  • I hesitantly bought this phone as I had read for years how Sony phones have all kinds of hardware related problems (the most notorious one being cracked glass -issue that has plagued the Z-series). However, as it's slim pickings for compact phones right now (always used to get a Galaxy Mini). Now, after a month of use, I can honestly say this is the best smartphone I've had: the camera is great (slower than a Samsung camera, though), the build quality is great (love the plastic in terms of durability) and the battery life is more than great (without Stamina, I'm getting close to four days although I did apply different battery-saving tricks on the phone). Also, while I wouldn't test it myself, there is that rumour that this phone is unofficially water-resistant (if not waterproof) and the Japan-only model with the official rating is the same phone as what the rest of us got.

  • I have this phone F5321 for 5 days. ordered it via Ebay. Great phone. I used yo have S4 mini and then S3 and now this one. Cons: * This phone is fast indeed. * Good RAM memory - now i am on average of 35~40% rather then 80~100% in the S3 * great camera. and nice effects can be use by sony official addons * compact size which is very convinient in my hands. * even though it has 4.6" screen it has 4X5 icons rather then 4X4 icons like the 4.8" S3 * The immigration was smooth (i use same google account here like before so the phone took my calander, apps, wallpaper and contacts). * battery is way way better then the S3 - can hold a day and if you don't use it even more Cons: * Almost no basic wadgets like in the samsung. even though i found everything as a standalone widget in the playstore (flashlight, Monthly calander on a full page) * Instead of having one Gallery like in the samsung it has 3 different programs which are similar to one another and need more actions in order to see the directories (So i d/l Gallery from playstore) * I can't move file from the internal memory to the SD card (maybe its the marshmelllow system and maybe the sd card.... it depends who you ask) - in this case when i want to move something to the sd i connect the phone to the computer and then do it. * No Hebrew language for the menus, other things like websites and contacts and waze shows hebrew (maybe its becoz i got official chinese rom) - in this case i d/l official google keyboard. overall: Great phone. I am no gamer but need my phone for work so i need it to be fast and reliable. this is a good choice.

  • It looks like you are looking for a compact smartphone, for now this is the best compact smartphone until now, perhaps sony comes out with a xz compact in the future. IPhone 6,6s,7,7s are not compact smartphones, yes they have 4.7 inches screen but the smartphone size is big, when you want to check a smartphone size you have to look directly to "Dimensions" in the specifications.

  • I would like suggestions. Not many phones that are under 5.0 screen size that are close to flagship specs that appeal to me and that work in the USA. If Samsung would make a mini version of their s models again or even renew their alpha phones I would get it. But so far this phone has my top vote when I upgrade soon. But by then, I am sure there will be more phones out that may compete with this one.

  • What is your point? do you need any suggestions?....

  • I hope the trend now are still 4.7inch and not that bloody big 5.5inch. Look how nice were the iphone 7 but it's too pricey. I hope the android have more choices of good 4.7inch.

  • Thank you Sony, for being the only company still making small but mighty Android smartphones

  • :)))))))))

  • I love this phone even if I don't have one :( haaaays

  • I knew what you meant, but i am just trying to explain your point :), Xperia z3 display is not bad, sure ;-).

  • Thanks Bro IMHO Z3's Display is not that bad......

  • Please give me the link of GSMarena report about self cracking issue, don't you trust this site?

  • Lol, the SE is the only premium compact phone, performance without heating, good battery (twice as good as z5c in real life use), 4k video, premium looks and build, no selfcrack or anything else Sony is famous for. Go to any xperia comment section and see how most the comments from real users are negative, does good phones have so unhappy owners? No.

  • IPhone se!! 4 inches 520p display, camera is meh, this isn't even a smartphone, and as usual iphones excels only with their performance, nothing else.

  • And it is the best 720p display.

  • Dude.. He meant that it is great not bad like z3.

  • "Great Screen not like Z3" what does it mean ??? Will you please elaborate it I mean is its screen is awful or great....

  • Not a joke, iphone SE is crap compared to this phone.

  • Xperia xz is the best smartphone made by sony, if you want to save some money then Xperia x performance is already great but not better than xz.

  • So for a better typing experience better buy the xperia x? is xperia x performance worth it or should i consider xz? I am torn between xperia x and xz now. I have tested one xperia x yesterday and it is great. Great screen not like z3. More colourfull display. which do you guys reccomend? All sony devices look phenomanal in store. Even the XA looks amazing. The se works very very fast but for an average user I think I would do well with sony too. Had iphones before and samsung note. How can a note get so laggy in 1 year of time usage and sony does not? With iphones I always had problems on how they are made. And the form of iphone 6 .... come in in 2016 i cannot buy the 7 with 6 body...

  • Wanna hear a joke ? This joke of a phone costs 30 euros more than Iphone SE 64 gb in my country.

  • Hahahha..dont liste to them Tann. SONY is the best!

  • Typing experience of iphones always better than other smartphones, i am not sure how is it in x compact, but if you decided to choose between the Xperia's then Xperia x compact is much better than z5 compact.

  • i own a z5 compact. and looking to buy an x compact. my wife has a SE. generally I feel that iphone's typing experience is superior to anything in the market. I do ok with z5 compact but i think I would do better on a SE. I'm not not a heavy texter. I stay on android because there are things you can't do in ios, but I own apple for all other devices (ipad, mac). also, the android voice to text is way inferior to apple (ipad), considerable more lag and more inaccurate. If you're a heavy texter I suggest you stay with the SE. if you don't x compact is probably for you. ALSO, very importantly - if you take photos (lots) my Z5 compact is in every aspect superior to SE - I took the exact same shot with both phones and my sony's was visibly better. in fact probably sony has the best smartphone cameras in the market today, which only makes sense as they've already beaten canon and nikon on the mirrorless photo cameras.

  • Can someone tell me if typing is bad on z5 compact or x compact? I have an iphone se and it ia rubish. The display is lifted because of the battery ... one thing iphone has is a very veru very good typing experience. I want to know if typing is ok om these 2 devices!!! Please help me!!

  • It already is, dropped to 400€ here, and you can get christmas offers for about 350€ now. Its superb price for this phone wonder. :-) . Ill be getting it in 3 months time, should be around 300€ then. :-)

  • its too casly

  • I meant the plastic chassis is excellent ,solid non breakable and beautiful for my taste

  • I disagree with you . I had the z3 z3 compact z5 and z5 compact and now for a week with x compact . I will tell you that the x compact is supreme to all I mentioned above , I am not a gamer. but watch youtube , camera ,battery life , more warm and easy to read texts and smooth running operation better than all . At first before put my hands on the x compact I hated it on the specs alone but to my surprise the x is solid non fragile , I love the strong and none breakable glass, beautiful phone worth any penny . I will upgrade next year to the new compact hopefully with the snapdragon 835 .

  • thats too expensive with this spec...good mobile but not with this cost do you think when it will be a cheaper?

  • Damn, it IS water resistant. Enough for me. Getting it. :-)

  • This is in every respect worse than the one year older Z5 compact yet costs 20 bucks less on amazon. How? Why?

  • X Compact is capable to record 4K videos at 30fps. It is just you have to download Open Camera app from the play store. set it up to 4K 30fps and record.

  • Check this video : I think they are both waterproof but sony didn't declare about it just to avoid the warranty.

  • Yup, I couldnt care less for 4k video, never will use it. But I do mind lack of waterproofing. I am boggled why Sony didnt offer waterproof X Compact except in Japan. :-( I only hope its secretly water resistant just as X is.

  • Need to update dual sim mobile in the x compact

  • Xperia x compact no doubt, just forget about waterproof and 4k video recording then Xperia x compact is much much better than z5c in everything.

  • what is better (your opinion). Z5C or X Compact, battery, front/back side quality, cam?

  • Down to £300 on giffgaff plus £50 quidco. Great price for this device

  • As a Nexus 5X owner I wanted something a little smaller with better battery life. As the price on the Sony Xperia X Compact has dropped it has gotten more tempting. Today, Black Friday, BestBuy has the X Compact for $350 plus tax. So I bought one. At that price you don't have much to lose if you don't like it. Other phones I was considering were the Google Pixel (5" display) and the Apple iPhone 7 (4.7" display). But I couldn't justify the higher price of those phones to myself based on my usage (light to moderate phone calls, texts, apps and browsing) no gaming. I'll use this for a year and re-evaluate when Black Friday 2017 rolls around. Newegg has a 128GB microSD card for $31 or a 200GB microSD card for $51. I'll probably get one of those to drop in the X Compact for storing music, pictures and videos. I'm looking forward to having a phone that more easily fits in my pocket. The 129 mm height of the X Compact should be noticeably smaller than the 147 mm height of my Nexus 5X.

  • I wouldnt know, I dont own one. Ask someone who knows for dBm & asu values out on the open ( its under settings, about phone) Lower the dBM andhigher the asu value, better the reception

  • Signal reception

  • YES, he DID actually pay up front for combo device/case as it is now in Sony store offer? Its clearly written in his complaint. He ordered device and the case TOGETHER with one order. The initial express postage order. Next, he was informed that the style case was unavailable. YES, he had to pay a second express delivery for style case as Sony estore told him that, due to delayed availability of style case... The initial express delivery was already being procesed. Due to the unavailability of style case, a second postage was required and he had to pay for it.. It was impossible for both items now, be posted together. The extra 6- 8 days were nesessary for stock availability and second postage. (extra time after the inital express order) So, he was charged an unnecessary second postage. That is his complaint. YES, to sum it all up there were two express deliveries, but he should have only paid for one as there was an error on availability. Sony estore error. Yes, online ordering shortcomings can be very irratating. As for stores policy, returns, claims for unnecessary/extra postage costs, etc, etc, thats an entirely different matter and between the 2 parties involved. No comment from me. Not sure if your being cynical or misunderstood his wording. You seem to write alright. I know English is your second language and maybe that is the reason. I virtuaully speak 3 languages, so I can understand that problem, and at times its very frustrating.

  • So he actually didnt pay up for combo device/case as it is now in sony store offer? He ordered device and the case separately with one order. And was just second to last case available. He didnt have to pay second express case delivery if he waited those couple of days for them to get new batch of cases and send them both by express. He would get both for the price of delivery he paid if he waited, but that wouldnt count as express anymore would it? So to sum it all up there were two express deliveries? He did get the case delivered too? Im unsure of that info. But he was expecting to pay only one delivery he ordered? Well, yeah, Id expect that too, but no any online store is obliged to do that, pay extra delivery on their cost, as stated in their operating policy. If I was him I would wait to get both by one delivery, and ask the store for additional express delivery costs to be paid back to my account, as Id have every right to it, cause it is stated so in their operating policy. Its a process that takes time, but only solution I certainly wouldnt react as he did, as I buy online quite often and know about online store purchase shortcimings alike. He's right is to return it, but he will have to wait for entire refund indeed, minus delivery costs he paid cause those are not store's obligatory.

  • You couldn't be more wrong.... Kartal ordered the listed/available style case and phone together online and paid express postage.... Both items were listed as AVAILABLE !!! on Sony estore web page. He should have received both AVAILABLE items in about 2/3days by express postage. After he paid the above online transaction, he was told the style case became UNAVAILABLE for 3 days . Kartal then rang them and they now said 4 days extra wait. Sony estore then said, as he had already paid express postage, that 2 despatches would be necessary and he Must Pay Postage Again. Only the Phone would be sent by express postage ! Kartal reluctantly accepted Sony estore's error and paid for the second postage. Maybe he needed (or wanted) the phone and style cover quickly. After 2/3 days the phone arrived by paid express postage. He rang Sony and they said another 6 days wait for the style cover. Sony support line accepted their mistake and apologized. Very bad sales etiquette by Sony. Sony estore obviously has a problem with their software ordering process, and in house stock controls. Kartal was bewildered by all this. Anybody would be mortified by a simple transaction going this sour. You Tann Hauser, have twisted the factual order around to suit your delusional Sony perfection dreams. As for calling you a "Sony Agent ",.. well I can testify 100% that you act in this manner. Usually aggressive, insulting and condescending to any person who has any problem what so ever with Sony. Your understanding of Kartals problem is totally flawed and biased. Either your English reading comprehension is dubious or you are acting as a Sony Agent/ Representative. The charger drama appears to be a misunderstanding by Kartal. Plus misleading advertising by Sony, which unfortunatly, is commen practice world wide by all companies.

  • ? You mean signal reception or product reception?

  • Would say that Sony phones have good reception in low coverage areas?

  • What Im going to say is: Im offended by you calling me a Sony agent. You came here with your experience and a crtique towards Sony which just doesnt stand up, and all we wanted to is to clear the misunderstanding up. You ordered a combo device/cover offer. Cover was not available at the moment. They apologised and said you should wait a couple of days for them to fullfil the offer you ordered. You couldnt wait a couple of days for them to get a new batch and send you what you ordered... Instead you ordered a new offer, just the device, which you got with paid express delivery. And got enraged you didnt get the quickcharger which wasnt in the offer in the first place,. And got enraged you had to pay extra for delivery of a cover which you intended to buy through a new order days later once those were available again. Its all your misunderstanding fault, yet you came to write about badboy Sony and its "agents"

  • Along with X Compact, they should have released Xz Compact..

  • Dude whats up with your rant. You clearly read everything wrong. "Does this phone have quick charge option? According to Sony's page and also in gsmarena specs YES" The key word there is "option" meaning "YES" you have the option for a quick charger. I'm not a sony spokesperson but stop bashing the brand just cuz you misread.

  • What I would finally say and leave this page is: Sony should spend more time in it's customer service Estore or marketing/sales/understanding and better understanding customers, not to be very covetous to the customers money and gave clear information to them than, having agents in internet to give support against to complaining customers like happening in this opinions page. This will not bring the success. They lost another customer. Whatever I write; there are guys in here like olive oil to get over to the top. So I am very happy with my new phone (a different brand,no need to advertise)

  • I really see no reason to discuss this. You may or not may like the offers like the one for 49.99. Its your choice or not to buy. The charger was always there to buy separately. Furthermore the store apologized for cover delay as you say....I dont see the problem except your dislike with their offers. Yes, you are a customer, they are online store....each to its own. I really dont understand your enragement how the store managed this. It's principal of every online store policy.

  • Good job tann, now i am 100% sure about what's happening here and that i wasn't wrong about that weird story, my bad feeling was absolutely right.

  • Then why dont they write What is in the Box? I am customer here and I thought it is in the box as they know how to advertise quick charge! By the way I just saw the quick charger in online store 3 days after offer just when I received the device! Maybe they put it available that day who knows? Another thing which is strange: Price of the charger is 49.99 postage free above 50 ;-) I am sure you have another explanation for that too. About the delivery, When I first ordered the case cover,It was available to order thats why I ordered, then I saw 2-3 days est information, I called them and they said later approximate 4 days and then I had to partially dispatch the device! because I already paid express delivery cost and why would I wait more days instead I could get it post free? Dont you think its Estore's mistake to manage this? After I got the device and when I contacted this time they said 6 more days for the cover.Even their support line accepted their mistake and apologized and this was related to manufacturer they said and you here as a sony person trying to find answers for everything and show sony good about what I experienced. I am customer just a basic customer and if I am not happy with what I experienced then it is my right to turn it back.I was hoping a lot better from Sony.

  • Nowhere on that page does it say a quick charger is included in the box, but under specs that it is one of key accessories you can buy extra. It also says that phone supports LDAC and Ps4 Remoteplay for ex, but you didnt expect to get LDAC certified headphones and PS4 Console inside the box, did you now? The page does not contain "included in the box", but under accessories subpage there are two quickchargers, described and priced as a stand alone offer.... Also it clearly states on this here sites review what one gets in the box... So dont mind me, but that is your own wrong coclusion to get the quickcharger in the box. About paying extra for delivery I wouldnt know, but the store obviously informed you that the cover is not available before sending, else you would complain about not getting the cover in the delivery itself, so you had a revised offer with delivery costs in the preorder.... If you didnt like the delivery price why in the first place did you pay up the revised offer? Only to get what you agreed to, and just to return it back? I dont get it.

  • Does this phone have quick charge option? According to Sony's page and also in gsmarena specs YES I am customer and of course I would go and expect the specs/features whatever advertised on the device's page! Then Why dont they add Whats in the Box as written? Thats their mistake too! (or planned) So if it is advertised in Sonys page with quick charge then of course I expect with quick charger! Does that write anywhere that it is standard charger in the box? NO For the case/cover If they make it available for purchase then I expect to have it when I buy it(especially with the phone together)Why did I have to pay extra money to have the device separately? Do you think this is fair?

  • Yes, its quite sad about these people, but unfortunately true...

  • You are hundred percent right. It is clearly seen few of them are here just to type something good about Sony and appear at top (to cover or to make out the negative feedback about sony)

  • Is the reception good in peripheral areas?

  • How can you be sure when you don't own this phone? as usual, just a Sony Troll..

  • For display lighting, auto mode is not available in the quick menu, only through the Settings menu.

  • 9.5mm, seriously?

  • Who doesn't have such amazing memories with sony? :D Note that i am not Xperia x compact and what i told you about battery is a knowledge and i am pretty sure about it ;-).

  • Confirm....that's the only thing i want to hear...am a die hard fan of sony products, can lay my life down for the company....when i was a little boy, my dad loves sony product so much, I think that's same footstep am following....the best in the world....a BIG S.O to sony

  • best compact phone thank you sony i love my x compact

  • To SE2010, wrong again. Kartel was correct and Sony estore screwed him on his order. Sony estore screwed him on the style cover as it was their error, certainly not Kartel's error. Sony estore has a problem with their software ordering process. He had to pay extra postage costs and the case cover was delayed due to Sony estore error. Whether this is common or not is irrelevant. Kartel was correct as Sony estore stuffed up.

  • Xperia x compact is a battery beast.

  • I would like to know if the battery last long enough...

  • Why then is there quick charge 3? Or a 12A Sony charger?

  • Something i wanted to say yesterday but i wasn't sure, but now i am. Sony's fast charging speed is 1500mah, which means that the original charger in the box is already sufficient for fast charging.

  • I completely agree with you. The phone is advertised as supporting quick charge 3.0 but what I found in the box was the UCH20 charger. On their webpage they suggest to buy the UCH12W charger. I bought that one but charging speed is not any faster than using the UCH20. Both charge about 1% a minute. Tried normal, safe and off mode. Also tried an Aukey QC 3.0 charger. Same result. The Sony support is no help at all. Going through Qualcomms Quick Charge 3.0 device list (published on November 8, 2016) the Xperia X Compact is not even listed there.

  • Is there an "auto mode" in quick menu for display light?Because I saw in the reviewes only manual moves of display contrast.Pls,answer, who owns this little treasure!

  • No I havent, and no idea who SE 2010 are you reffering to?!? You ve obviously mistaken me for someone else. On the subject, again no, Sony store didnt mess up at all. He ordered the cover, but it went unavailable in the meantime. These things happen on all webstores all the time, happened to me twice already. He paid extra for express delivery, but delivery of the phone was free...so he got enraged he had to pay extra for the costs of case delivery. I wouldnt like it also, but certainly wouldnt react as him and return it all in utter enragement.... Anyways, its good to see X Compact and its accessories selling out.... It is an amazing compact phone.

  • Just bought this phone..I won't compare it with any phone but it's one of the best..hats off ti sony x compact

  • Anyway, SE 2010 from Canada. Its been a while. Have you missed me? Do you remember me?

  • You are wrong (as usual). He purchased a listed and available, new style case cover from Sony estore. He paid express delivery. Item next became not available and in stock in 6 days time. Understand? He then paid extra Euros to have phone and new style case cover shipped seperately. Understand? This is his complaint. The charger drama may have been a misunderstanding, buy just enraged him further. So, in summary, Sony estore screwed him on the new style case cover, cauing extra days delay and extra postage costs. He obviously wanted both items together.

  • No he wasnt. Its all plain and cleary written there. He just didnt like not getting the fast charger, which wasnt even included in the offered price. He did not understand the offer, and got enraged by his own misunderstanding. No Sonys fault at all.

  • Your bad feelings are misplaced. Kartel was duped by the Sony estore, so he is entitled to a full refund. Plus, phones can be returned if not satified within a certain time frame, as long as the phone is in new condition. This is law in every country, although your residence may be the exception.

  • Cuase with sd820 it would cost 100$ more. Also, There is no compact phone that size with bigger maH battery that Im aware of.. Yes you can get cheaper phones, but in the end its customers choice whether he chooses a sony phone or some other. Some people choose Sony for a good couple of reasons, me included.

  • Sony why have you not put as snapdragon 820 in this phone...for the price that its selling at at least 820 , also a 3000 mAH would have been ideal... It becoming harder to find a good phone these days for those on a decent budget of 250 to 300 USD...

  • Dude, i have a bad feeling that you are here just like many other people to bash and downgrade sony, and now you are proving this, do you know what is the meaning of anyone did buy a smartphone can send it back and have a refund just because he didn't like it within a severe time, imagine every week you can switch from smartphone to another without paying a single additional cent, this is not sense, not even in anyway, so please stop trolling.

  • Your welcome Kartel...just ignore Ali Bashir as he has no phone knowledge or worldly experience. Unfortunately, there are a few like him here that can't accept some truths about Sony.

  • Thanks Rogeraba, I try to explain something different but he is telling me complete different details which are also complete wrong! I felt like he is a Sony representer in here.Otherwise Sony should do him a favor for his good efforts. By the way I didnt even say the phone is bad or smth.I liked the phone but the way how Sony estore works is very bad!Or I was unlucky.

  • Where do u get your false information from ? Sony sells 2700mah quick chargers in a Sony box. The hardware and software determine the current draw, not the charger size. So, a 10,000mah charger is not dangerous. Phone can be charged at anytime, not only at night as you claim. Do u even own a smartphone ? Almost every modern western country has the option to return items if customer doesn't like it. What primitive place do you live in ?

  • 1.You wrote "First of all sony never and will never include a charger faster than 1500 mah in there boxes, because it will be harmful to the battery and will kill it very fast. "? Then why does Sony sell quick charger in its own web page..How will they send it to me? I dont know what you are talking about! if you read and understood what I wrote that they advertise the phone with quick charge option, This is copied from products webpage Battery 2700 mAh Qnovo Adaptive Charging Battery Care STAMINA mode Quick Charge So if there is quick charge then I expect the quick charger in the box! I am a customer. 2.I dont care how much the battery goes, what I talk is different where you want to take the subject is different! 3.It seems I live in a different world! Because in 14 days you have right to send the phone back in hereI even received email from them which confirms this.

  • Your story is so weird and... 1)First of all sony never and will never include a charger faster than 1500 mah in there boxes, because it will be harmful to the battery and will kill it very fast. 2)have you tested the battery performance of this smartphone, because you may charge it only at night even with heavy usage. 3)In the world, there is not a single market or a company would allow their products to be sent back if it doesn't have a fault or because a costumer didn't liked it, so???

  • After had the bad experience with Sony E5 I decided to buy this nice looking compact from Sony's online store. I wanted to buy it with its new style case-cover.As it was available purchased both,as it writes on Sonys estore webpage selected and paid for 1-2 days express delivery(lately learned that days means only week days and no weekends as it didnt mention anywhere on Sony's page) After the case went not available and est in stock time 3 days which became 6 days after!!.Paid extra euros to have device seperately. After the device arrived and it looked nice and performance was OK, I was hoping to charge it fast as they advertise quick charge 3 and put charger and saw that it took around 2+hours.I was surprised and when I checked I understood that the sent charger was a normal one in the box and not a quick charger!!! For quick charger you have to visit estore again and pay 49.90 smth euro and how funny that delivery is free when you buy over 50!! I put everything in the package and sent back.I dont want the case I dont want the device and I dont want their covetous way of thinking against their customers money!

  • there is no competing devices out there. so we're paying a premium for compactness. I believe the X Compact has the highest performance per cubic centimeter.

  • hows the pricing though????

  • awesome......

  • models after models? 5-6 phones per year are good

  • LOL, I find that hard to believe! If true, just go back and replace it.

  • I bought a new one... on the first day the proximity sensor (next to sony mark on top) was broke down... now it is in service office... they say that the motherboard must be changed ! :(

  • I have noticed that too but i think it's normal.

  • The top loudspeaker sounds more better then the bottom one. Is this normal?

  • I don´t get Sony anymore with all these stupid models.. Ever since they dropped the Z-line phones, their model rooster has been confusing at best. Like HTC which i once loved but now hate, i just can´t deal with phone providers that pushes out models after models. I think Sony is sidestepping too much and should learn what the disastrous HTC did with their line..

  • Same here Tann.. I regret going to other brand just because of specs and now I'm back with Sony

  • By us here, X Compact is cheapest, X slightly more. Ive decided to go for X Compact. I value better camera more than metal back build, and none compares to Sony in software department still. Been playing recently with other brands from friends and stores just to get up to date, and all I can say is.... nah, anything other than Sony would just mean degrade to my personal smartphone user experience. Sony is Sony

  • i also found that 2k amoled display is only equal to 1080p LCD display. amoled not good at 1080p. im going for x compact

  • all android phones can only move partial data of apps. if you're on rooting phone you can switch sd card to internel memory and the 16gb internal memory to external memory(act as sdcard)

  • Can u move the apps on the sd card with this device?...

  • Actually the Sony Xperia X is the cheaper of the three. But Black Friday is around the corner so hopefully all three will be cheaper soon.

  • Nah, I prefer real professional camera reviews like dxo mark. These phone revs seem to only pixelpeep and care for noise, nothing else. They are phone revs afterall, not true camera revs. Xperias are best camera shooters, one can only compare xperia shots to others and notice best camera color reproduction, widest angle, sharpness, field of depth, detail, stabilisation.

  • X Compact is the cheapest. Great on student budget. You will also appreciate its light weight, compactness and performance. I am also sensitive to AMOLED displays and prefer IPS (coming from S7)

  • im planning to buy x, x compact, and z5 compact. im using xperia z2 and xperia p(turning 4yrs old this dec) as secondary phone and let it rest so i need a new phone as primary phone and use z2 as secondary phone. i want to know about durability, gaming and screen outdoor i only consider IPS LCD coz oled is too eye tiring to look at. i cant afford xz as im just student

  • Whole heartedly agree. I'm loving every minute with this phone. I came from the S7 Edge too and like it a lot better

  • Go and read gsmarenas accurate report on camera phones before buying a Sony.In fact read any professional review and you won't buy a Sony smartphone....phone arena, Android Authority etc etc

  • Almost endless battery life :D.

  • How battery life? Answer 1 day?or no?

  • Very easy, tap POST, then write "........"... SUBMIT

  • How can you say that its the best smartphone, when you don't own it?

  • It depends on what kind of feature you think is most important. If you prefer compact phones choose the X Compact! I could buy any flagship phone, but I give a higher priority to compactness (best performance per cubic centimeter)

  • Xz best smartphone of this year.

  • Xperia xz

  • which one is the best mobile phone of sony xperia,I have plan to get best one xperia.

  • one question, whats the difference between blacks ? there's black, universe black and mineral black o.O ty

  • If you can afford the size of Xperia xz, then i want to tell you that it is the best of 2016 no doubt, if you can't then Xperia x compact great already.

  • My suggestion is that u should to choose Xperia XZ

  • hi! i need an opinion, i am about to buy one cellphone and i have my doubts betwwen these Xperia Xcompact or the XZ ?? i prefer the cellphones that arent too big (like samsung) but i want a very good phone too, so let me know your advices pls :)

  • I am camera guy so I heard that Camera is improved in X compact .... So what do you say??

  • X compact batterylife will not degrade in next 2 years. Z5c battery will. Id choose X Compact cause in half a year- year of usage theyll be on same level, after a year X Compact will remain better whilst z5c will degrade even more.

  • Im having the same debate myself. They cost about the same. But I think Ill go for X. Its metal build, 5inch screen, usb C on X compact is not standardized yet so its a hassle with adaptors, camera is great too indeed, batterylife is just slightly less.

  • Below 5" 720p, around 5" 1080p, more than 5.5" 2160p is an ideal choice

  • Xperia x compact is better

  • Guys need your help to buy between Xperia X and Xperia X compact..... which one and why,,,, ??

  • Its a ladder below.... I would suggest you to go for 5" Xperia X. Overall its a great device and its your choice but i think you wont be disappointed.

  • I have this phone, 720p is enough, i don't see pixels.

  • The endurance rating of z5 compact done before the 200 nits plan, which was at 50% 106 nits "Xperia z5", and i think the snapdragon 650 is less power consumer than the 810.

  • i love sony phones and i am really willing to change my huwaei phone to sony .. but my budget won't help me so much to get the xz its just too expensive .. so i thought of getting x compact will be the choice .. so how is it compared to xz ? and will i be losing so much new features if i get the x compact ? P.S. i'm willing to wait for the xz price to drop if it is way better than x compact

  • which is better in term of battery x compact or z5 compact bcz i saw the endurance of z5 compact is better than x compact

  • it does

  • After having Lumias, HTCs, Samsungs and iPhone6 I decided to try out Sony. Damn it balsts away all the crapy Samsungs with laggy OS and one-year-max shiny "metal" bezels which turn into grey plastic things, iPhones with the most outdated OS I have used (iOS9 and now iOS 10 is even worse). I had replaced the back glass as it cracked under warranty. And the camera is slowish. Other than that it is a fantastic phone. After using one for a year now (Z5) I look no further but for a Sony smaller phone. You have to use one to understand why they are so expensive. Software updates are super fast and the OS is so fast. Much much faster than iOS and Samsung. Last time I was so happy was with Lumia 720 (after Lumia 1520, 1320, 930 which I did not like. So I had 7 phones in the last three years and Sony is a winner for me.

  • Having it for the first week. Veeeery happy with it. I had S7 before this one and swapped because the S7 was too big and heavy feeling (although on paper it doesn't). Also the Sony interface is better, for me at least. Much better music app (it shows that Sony has a great history experience with Walkman) and the camera quality is to my seeing, the same as S7 (the photos are roughly the same quality in real life, from my amateur perspective). And although it has a lower processor, I didn't find it have any problems with apps or latest games, just a looonger battery life in real world use, which is so enliberating. I had Samsung's every S until now and it is the first time I swapped to Sony. And I will stay with Sony. Maybe the only minus point would be the plastic backside that can be scratched (I mean only aesthetically it can be a drawback, otherwise it is so well made that I really don't miss that heavy aluminum at all). But I put a protective sticker (made for this model) on and it is just great (I don't like cases). All and all, I'm a Sony guy from now on, and for good.

  • does it include 3.0 charger?

  • How? My Sony sp, z3 survive many falls and it's very tough. I prefer plastic Sony over metal explosive Samsung..

  • My z3c is 22months old too... But start to have problem... Well, guess is time to upgrade to x compact... Still a strong sony supporter...

  • yes. because sony always do all things wrong. we can not expect best thing coming out from the King of Plastic Carbonate. lol.

  • The video playback rating of this smartphone is absolutely wrong or Xperia x ones is wrong.

  • Never mind man, if sony made this phone with 1080p, these people will say poor battery, just ignore ;-).

  • Yes but I am sure it woud need an aditional circuit on motherboard & there may not be space for it.

  • Have you seen any compact phone with 1080p display ?

  • seems good but no 1080p screen seriously its 2016...

  • i have z3c and x compact both good phone

  • Except the total lack of freedom with iOS.

  • My Z3C is 22 months old by now and I have had no problems with it to this day. Photo's are very high quality too.

  • I have 4+ days of battery time on my Z3C.

  • You was spot on, xperia users arent picky, they are willing to turn the blind eye on all of sonys little annoying issues and androids many pitfalls and high maintenance requirements.

  • Battery z3c is just adequate, the iphone SE is better in real life usage. Im especially surprised with the bluetooth battery life of SE, had an apple watch and was used to it draining extra battery on my old i5s, expected on SE as well but it wasnt noticeable at all. SE is still the onlynoption for high end compact phones, and its ridiculously cheap too.

  • Good for you, my sisters z3c been repaired many times and had months of accumulated downtime.

  • Ahah... oh wait, i cant even laugh... Still no 1080 display, which was bad enough on z1c, ridiculous on z3c and now just sad and pathetic. Sony need to understand that people need some very good reasons to buy this over an iphone SE which is much faster, better camera, better os and apps, superior battery life, better size, and better display (color and whitebalance is many notches above sony). And then sony will not even offer an advantage of higher ppi??

  • Will be dual-sim version?

  • Same story with a lot of sony users in the world, sony is the king of quality.

  • I can find plenty. Maybe you are not picky but I gave up on z3c after 6 months of usage. Terrible camera. People with iphone 5 could take better photos. And idc about the manual mode because I do not want to waste 1 minute just to take a photo. X compact seems to have resolved those issues. Z3c was also fragile , glue coming out from behind the screen , you cpuld fry eggs on it and the flaps that made it waterproof would lossen after 2 months. I had the magnetic charger so I did not abuse of those. Terrible experience and that happened also to a friend. The only thing that was good was the battery life.

  • What about waterproof?

  • even after 3 years from the day of Z3 compact release, I still can't find any reason to upgrade.

  • Of course they do. What would I be doing with a memory slot and I've got a 64/32 G on my phone. How about using that space for another sim, like the Samsung A3 one, you could either have a sim or a memory card and it's the same size by the way of the compact

  • I've searched for tgat, yet I didn't find a way to contact them properly

  • The best phone I have owned as of yet. I have previously had Nokia. Panasonic, HTC and Samsung phone and nothing compares, even remotely to the Sony Xperia X Compact. Fantastic phone 100/100

  • ur on the wrong thread

  • another exploding phone ? No thanks.

  • I don't think there is enough space inside a the compact's body for dual sim. The smaller iPhone does not have it too.

  • I also wish for an Alpha update. I really like the form factor and design. So far, the X Compact is much better of course. The Xc is shorter and narrower than the Alpha and the battery is nearly 1000mAh more than Alpha. I also prefer IPS display rather than amoled

  • You should get a plastic bag and scream your ideas inside it ( make sure you seal it properly so the voice wont get out of the bag) and ship it to sony. It will work !

  • I'm dying not to get tgat phone rather than my Z5 dual, but I keep waiting till a dual compact phone is released. I'm sick of the single sim phone, even if they eliminated the memory slot like most companies do and use only the phone's internal memory. Can anyone send our voices to Sony???

  • Fat and big bezel,...what an ugly phone....wish Samsung would make a successor to the Alpha.

  • Going to upgrade my Z3C to this, but really hoping for double sim and ir blaster :(

  • You can get it for $475 from Lazada.

  • it is the best so far............

  • I had the Z5 Compact, but sold it because of over heating and throttling issues I experienced. The 650 SOC is a better fit for a compact device IMO.

  • My thoughts, exactly.

  • its just waste of money.i bought one too. now im sure i mistook when sold my z5 compact.z5 was a lot better than x compact. also they have to add dual sim option in compact phones too

  • I received the September update few days ago on my X Compact

  • True, I own a Z1C, still working like a charm, no hiccups or battery issues.

  • Yes, it does have a notification light.

  • Have a notification led or not ?

  • I used it in a shop today. The design is very handy I have to admit

  • Either you've had a rare occurrence of some defective phone, or you're blatantly lying. I have been using a Z2 for 2 years now, and it's perfectly fine, except the battery which is to be expected after all this time. I have 4 friends, 2 of whom have the same Z2 as I do, and the other 2 have the Z3 compact, and everyone is very pleased with their phone. I've dropped my phone literally more than 50 times, without case or protective glass, and there are only a few scraches on the front glass, which can only be seen when the screen is off, but if I had a Lagsung or iCrap and I dropped that as many times as I've dropped my Z2, it would have broken 20 times already.

  • Will this one ever get to the brazilian market??? Already had no Z5 compact. Too bad for my forgotten country. I guess thats fair if we no longer have a world cup and the olympics, even if it has nothing to do with it.

  • 500 $ in Thailand. How is loudness of speakers for ringtones ?

  • I'm very happy with my black colour X compact. I bought it a couple of days ago from Sony store. It almost weighs nothing! I also like the plastic material used because it's perfect for radio waves! No need for the awkward antenna lines I see on many metallic devices lately. Also, my apps don't crash on this Sony! unlike my previous flagship device from a popular Korean brand. Also, my Xc doesn't get so hot like my previous device! And there is no AMOLED burn-in issues! And the battery drains much slower than my previous device! I like it very much. Thank you Sony.

  • I don't think a XZ compact will ever materialize any time soon. I believe the X Compact is the "official" compact model in the current line of Sony mobiles. If we take a look at the compact models and their release dates: Z1c ---------- Jan 2014 release Z3c ---------- Sep 2014 (8 months after Z1c release) Z5c ---------- Oct 2015 (1 year and 1 month after Z3c release) Xc ---------- Sep 2016 (11 months after Z5c release) So based on the history of compact model release dates and Sony wanting to limit the number of models released in general. I would say the next compact model should be released 10 months from now (average) in July 2017. Sony has never had two compact models released at the same time. I would be surprised if they release XZ Compact

  • perfect

  • your best option is zuk z2 with flagship spec and mid range price

  • same comment as underneath

  • zx compact must apear , compact flagship , water proof maybe 1980x1080 resulution and 4k video . I am not spending money on huge screens 5.2" to 6.5" anymore . I had enough carry these monster monitors and tv screens

  • I agree plus the weak back glass , but there is many improvments after the z series

  • Man, okay, lets consider x compact a little bit overpriced, but that bla bla redmi note 3 price is below cheap, its price is very weird, and little bit overpriced + below cheap = big deference in price. Every day i see a lot of people on sony pages posting this statement " I have sony xperia (?) from two, three years and still excellent and never lags".

  • Phone is good no doubt but Sony phones are exorbitantly priced. This has sd650 which is a midrange processor SOC. With similar specs barring camera, Xiaomi Redmi note 3 costs half its price.

  • Oh my God, the performance of this phone is amazing, the camera, even the 720p display, this is absolutely the best compact smartphone ever, but i am still expecting a flagship compact from sony, xz but compacted.

  • longer lasting with sony? i dont think so. all the phones are pretty much the same. I have had the worst experience with z3 compact, worst period. I used it like for phone calls, sms and whatsapp only with very low brightness and usage. Simply bought it for the design. The thing never lasted for 1 1/2 years. First the memory card spring got defective and theres no way to fix it. The Battery then later bloated and peeled off the back and front panels and the built was with a lame glue. The moment the front panel peeled off, say goodbye to proximity sensor. Not to mention the dual front speakers doesnt work when someone calls in ( only the bottom one rings with very low volume levels ) the word useless had a new definition with Z3 compact. Not to mention the price. I am happily settled down with a P9 lite for half the price and decent quality.

  • Better camera? The fact you can literally fry eggs on z5c just by watching videos on youtube? You will also get the latest updates aswell and z5c has 1gb less of ram. Z5c is very poor in therms of camera unless you know how to handle manual mode ( and most of the users do not have the time to play with the manual mode settings).

  • Bezels are use full , I found very good solution on holding the phone vertically with one hand while the shutter button on the top right , I hold the phone with left thumb on the bottom left bezel two fingers behind the phone under lens ( solved many of my snaps and other shots were fingers covering part of the lens ) and the others under the phone along the side. holding even with one hand is steady more controlled while freeing the other hand for setting .left handed could use on screen shatter .

  • Why would you even buy this when the z5 compact exists ?

  • Hahaha..is this even a question? Of course X Compact. Cheap with high specs doesnt mean its gonna be good. You pay higher to Sony for long lasting quality devices. Cheap means faster degrading over time.

  • yes, it has USB otg.

  • battery life is not good.

  • Can this use usb otg?

  • That's the problem - you smashed it. Z3c & z5c have glass backs making them more fragile, what is the point of that? X compact has plastic back so should be stronger, as is xperia sp.

  • axon 7 mini , huawei honor 8 32gb or sony xperia X compact i need some useful opinion thx alot

  • So true

  • again disappoint from Sony.... till now no announcement to launch in India :(

  • Thus compact is Best of Best compact cells.

  • only if this phone have snapdragon 625 / water proof / jack at bottom and lower price

  • Not that I don't believe you, but it would be nice if you could post battery usage graph to imgur or something and link it. Seeing how it does in the real world matter much more than the arbitrary endurance rating.

  • Im from Malaysia too..just wait until this friday Sony Malaysia reveal price for Xperia Xz and X compact

  • When the device will land at Malaysia?I think will cost RM1,999 to RM2,199.

  • Been reading up on battery issues people having on the net...No wonder you ask for a removable battery, Even some Big renown companies do put crap low quality battery inside their toptier phones, that get burst cells by simple wireless charging or quickcharge. Dont worry about newest Xperias tho, Sony made improvements to battery tech and software optimizations that renders you free of that scare. ;-)

  • Why not? I personally prefer removable batteries, which is why I like lg v20 more just because of the removable back. Doesn't mean am not a Sony fan. U can argue that the battery can be removed/change at service centres but the tinkering involved is as bad as not having a removable back. I hope Sony listens.

  • Which is why there is a battery care feature in the XZ and X Compact, which retains the battery's performance even after 2 years.

  • Oooooh yeah,,, that's Sony alright!! Haha

  • Man,your all posts are about removal and none removable battery, why do you care about it like this?

  • great size 4.6" - is there a dual sim edition? Again non-removable batteries. After two years most batteries degrade.....

  • Now thus is true Sony cell owner!!

  • That true.... Im an audio consumer mostly.... Xperias are best at it. I also dont mind flawless performance, stability, build, excellent camera and excellent battery tech that comes along with it. :-)

  • Just got my one.Clean design.Audio quality second to none. Great work Sony....

  • Xperia x compact users, can you share your experiences with this phone. Trolls not allowed

  • Xperia phones are the most stable phones around, just Google it up. And higher QC than Samsung and Apple. Sony phones dont explode like Samsung Galaxy Note7 or make hissing sounds like the iPhone 7

  • Sony is rocking as usual Xperia x compact vs performance beast

  • Hahahah...lmfao "sony cant focus on software..."...yet proven by statistics makes most software stable phones out there, more stable than google themselves.... LMFAO Hace a nice trolly day now ;-) :-))

  • if sony cannot make better phones or softwares, can you do a better job out there? I highly dobut so..

  • Yeahh happy...now go away you no brainer troller

  • Next time, don't reply to him, ignore him, when was these people thoughts token seriously, come on man, don't downgrade your self.

  • let's say that sony focuses more on other products. but why do real life users prefer them more than op, xiaomi, apple, huawei, or samsung? we are not ignorant of the foolishness that op, huawei or xiaomi feed you. clearly, your ignorance is infecting your brain. specs>quality is an ignorant person's choice when buying smartphones. troll

  • not just ugly, but fat and ugly!

  • hey i change my profile name again. lol. if i couldn't give good argument, then no one would reply to it. lol. sony sucks. "ja ja sony" (ja ja means bye bye, right?)

  • So you changed your profile name just to bash a company with no arguments ? Stay in school and learn how an argumentation works ! A simple : "jaja sony suck , jaja" will not impress anyone

  • haaahahaaa. lol. sony never focus in softwares. they can't even produce good phone design. sony never focus in anything (although hey have great camera sensors). cr@p. lol.

  • @Gadget lover its corrected already and this comment should have been on the Samsung phone and here doesn't make any sense here

  • The phone had a rate of change of -3.3% per per hour. These stats are directly out of gsam battery. Once the phone hits 40% I recharge to 90%. I have read that depth of discharge around 50% gives a li on battery much more life.

  • Battery problem? Today my phone started at 90% battery. I had 48% discharge 37% while screen on, 11% while screen off. I had 6 hours and 42 minutes of on screen time. Now granted, I like to keep my screen brightness pretty low, but I have never gotten on screen time like that with ANY phone including my z3c.

  • Tell me a phone which has a top notch camera, SD650, 3 GB RAM all in 4.6 inch compact body (Other than X Compact)

  • If sony had focused on software, most oems would be left behind so you better be thankful sony is giving them the chance. we dont need you anymore here so better go back to your preferred brand choice cause this is not the right page for you. Hope you enjoy your apple or whatever 'other oems' brand you use and stay out. Have a nice day!

  • Always batery problem

  • 2 years later and still nothing beats the Z3c. Best phone I ever had, until I smashed it.

  • The retested rating has a huge brightness setting bump from the original 50% (90 nits in the Z5) to 200 nits which in my opinion is the main reason why the rating dropped so extreme.

  • Hi, GSM arena I m ur big and dedicated fan. Whenever I think to get some info about new launched smart phones. My fingers type GSM arena in Google search tab. However one thing I hame noticed. In every brand and their specifications why it's always mentioned non removable batters for every phone models in every brand. For an example I m using Samsung Galaxy j5 it's given in specifications that it has non removable battery. But in actual Galaxy j5 has removable battery. If I am wrong then I am sorry to raise such issue. But if I am not please can we fix it as soon as possible. Because I love this site and I don't want if anyone criticise GSM arena for this issue.

  • I thought qnovo was only about keeping the battery from over charging. Basically I thought the feature was about learning habits of when you charge so the phone hits 100% just when you are about to use it in the morning. If there is more to it please elaborate, because Sony hasn't. I actually thought the feature was a good idea, but pointless to me as my charge times are too erratic. I thought it would have been much better if the phone just used your alarm as the guide and hit 100% right as the alarm went off. Seems like a much easier and reliable method to me.

  • Intelligent learning should be a nice boost. Also video test used to be at 50% brightness, which was 106 nits on z5c and now all phones are tested at 200

  • You mean the retested one? Ahah, love it how this site has double standards. Guess only Sony gets the "bad update retesting and reporting" treatment here :-/ :-S Well if they put some certain edge phones numbers with edge feature off to look better, at least Sony should get the same lovely treatment and be tested with stamina on and some draining feature off

  • Tann, what do you think about xperia z5 endurance rating???

  • It doesnt They retested XA batterylife after a month and it jumped from 40hr out of the box to 57hr, without any updates Shows Xperias UI intelligent learning feature is actually true Thats more than 40% So, X Compact having same qnovo and Sonys smart UI, means you can freely add about 40% to their measured endurance In a month of usage X Compact will learn users habits and endurance will jump to...90-100hr

  • I may be the minority here, but I don't care about video playback. At most I may watch a 5 or 10 minute YouTube clip on the phone. It's a 4.6 inch screen, why the hell would I want to watch a movie on it?

  • Forget about z5c, look at the video playback, it is equal to xperia x which is 5 inches display with the same hardware and lower battery capacity, lol, did you see the new endurance rating of xperia z5.

  • Not sure what to think about these battery test results. I had a brand new z5c two weeks ago. I could not get more than 7.5h of on screen time with stamina mode enabled. With the xc I'm getting 9-10.5h hours. Stamina mode is not enabled. Even with the zc3 I was getting in the 10h hour range. So I am not sure if their testing aligns with actual usage.

  • This is the X Compact, thus the CPU is not the 820. Looking forward for the XZ Compact

  • Can u talk about the battery life more? I am curious with the battery life.

  • Some people argue about this phone not having S820 SoC guys seriously why would be the reason of using that SoC on 720p resolution???! it's just waste of resources and more battery consumption and much more price tag! S650 (or maybe S652) is the best choice for this screen size and sony actually made a high end compact phone again!!

  • im a sony fan and i just waiting for the battery life of this phone if it can beat the z3 compact or else im gonna skip this compact.

  • The key here is 4.6 - 4.7 inches is the biggest I want to go. My wife has an s7, there is a big difference between these two phones in size. I can use the xc fairly well with one hand.. The s7 not so much.

  • Btw if you are willing type here a list of 4inch to 4.7 inch smartphones. I appreaciate it.

  • I get you. But the screen size is the essence here. Trust me if oneplus 3 fitted in my pockets I would get that. The only choices I have is the xc and iphone se.

  • Right now most phones are bigger, but I can't see how a low res small screen would make a phone more expensive. But you can buy a lot of phones with 4.7 inch and S410, dirt cheap almost too. But this thing is brand new Q3 2016 with S650 and costs about 2x. Then again both Motorola and ASUS has set their prices up by 30% on new stuff. The Z3 had the same size and 720p, about the same price, but it had S800 or so.

  • Again a no brainer comment. The essence of this phone is its compact size. You can not find a similar phone with this screen size . So why are you commenting?

  • It's a bit expensive for a mid-range SOC and only 720p now. You can get S6xx and 720p in a mobile for 60% of what this one cost.

  • The real mvp! Finally someone that shares his experience with the device and not trollers.

  • design wise...a few steps back.

  • If you hated the Z3 Compact because it was too silm, light and compact - Sony have noe Released X Compact, which is thicker, taller, heavier with the same screensize. It's sure to big a hit with those of us that love phones with massive chins and very tall size.

  • What's better? If were talking android what is better? If were talking iPhone, it's still bigger, and much more expensive. I bought the phone. I now think it completely blows the z5c away. I didn't really think that when I took it out of the box and starred down that chin. Does it look better? Probably not. Is it tad bigger? Yes. But the phone just works better. It's much faster for everything sans gaming. But who really buys a compact phone with a big focus on gaming? The screen also looks fantastic. I couldn't believe how great it looked with the sun shining right over my head. The battery life for web browsing and normal activities I'm getting 9-10.5h of on screen time. I averaged 6.5-7.5h with the z5c. Since getting home today I have used 18% battery life and 2.5 hours of on screen time. I have zero studder issues, zero heat issues, and it doesn't lock up and reboot. I and many others had these same issues with the z5c. Simply put, if you buy the z5c over this phone, the water resistance, game apps loading 2 seconds faster, and raw looks are being prioritized over 99% of what you are going to use the phone for. It is disappointing the phone got a little longer. I won't deny that. But 2mm was not going to derail me from trying the phone. The thickness, if it is any different isn't noticeable. The phone is more comfortable to hold due to the seamless rounded frame. I have owned the z3c, and the z5c as well. While not perfect, it's still the best sub 5 inch android.

  • Guys, do you really think this could be the BEST 'compact'' phone?? I just want something below 5'' but very powerful!

  • Has anyone in the US bought this phone and tried it on tmobile? Just wondering if it supports volte, or any other of the lte bands. Thanks-

  • It must be corning gorilla glass

  • Mmm, Dude agree with you about the power efficiency, in fact what power consumption and overheating are with adjacent to each other.

  • Mmm, Dude agree with you about the power efficiency, in fact what power consumption and overheating are with adjacent to each other.

  • Even if the 810 didn't overheat, 820 is still more energy efficient. Kryo cores are more energy efficient than the A57 cores used in 810.

  • Yes I love it. Now shoo away troller.

  • Still mediocre camera quality. They make great sensors for other companies yet their phones' camera have poor photo quality. No wonder Apple and other brands are running circles around Sony.

  • I you like your phone to get thicker, longer and bigger bezels with each generation, then its a good upgrade.

  • Battery life should be endless lol, waiting for gsm rating, we expecting a legend score :D.

  • Ahahahahaaa. you lack information, have you seen the performance of xperia X or even seen a performance test of X compact to other flagships? Dude please just stop the joke, it's not only not funny, it's annoying too. JEEZ

  • How about battery..... Sorry for my bad English

  • Why does the black version cost €46 more than the others? :-/

  • I think it was dumb to make the bottom bezel bigger again. It's now even bigger than the top bezel and that's just ugly

  • Design preference is purely based on personal taste and it's best to keep it that way :)

  • Well, bad design is bad design. :)

  • And it will remain on that level at least 2 years... Amazing stuff ha?

  • First time i saw the x compact i thourt it maybe a very bad phone but after a closer look and testing the x compact i was very suprise over the performance and the camera is also supressling good ifen nigthshoots not bad at all and the x compact is very handy the price is also okay this one is much better then xperia x and it ifen beats the x performance in the camera department batterylife is also good after been useing to x compact for two days all in all a very good phone for a middranger

  • GSam Battery Monitor: screen on 10h 20m. I was never able to get above 7.5h with the Z5c. I am not using stamina mode, audo brightness on. Mostly web browsing.

  • To follow up with my last response, I think overall the phone is great except the bezel. I actually bought the z5c a couple weeks ago and sent it back. The phone got too hot, it randomly crashed 10 times in a week, and overall it just felt a little sluggish while doing normal browsing and phone activities. This phone is far better when it comes to actually using it. The screen really is MUCH better and the glossy texture on the screen allows your fingers to slide nicely much better than prior generations. That being said, the bottom bezel pisses me off so much I will sell it and buy next year's model if they correct it. I wanted water resistance, but in the end form factor is far more important to me.

  • I got the phone today. The screen is nicer than the z5c and the z3c. The plastic actually is very comfortable to hold. I like the feel more than the z5c as it doesn't have the slight ridge between the frame and back which doesn't feel great when holding for long periods of time. The phone is a lot more snappy than the z5c. I don't care about benchmarks rather it be the RAM or what, the phone is just a lot smoother. My only really complaint, and it's a big one, is the bottom bezel. Not only is it ugly, but it also makes the phone a little more difficult to use with one hand from top to bottom. I really do not understand why they were unable to cut the length down a bit from prior generations. It actually got slightly longer.

  • This "shity compact phone" as you call it is the best compact phone on the market ( sd650 is better than sd810) so maybe compared to last years they did not use the same chip as on their flagship but that is fine for me. On the z5c you could fry eggs . I would take a 450 euro 650 sd all day long instead of 600 euro same phone with sd820.

  • Its a 450$ phone fella.... Go to yt and search for live presentations of its performance. Simple as that. Its worth every single buck asked for it.

  • I just bought the international model from clove for $450 shipped. What makes you think US version will be priced any different? The 650 and 3GB of RAM seem to perform better than the z5c based on initial impressions.

  • Your points are invalid. People don't want to have a mediocre chip set in a phone that will obviously cost too much. Seriously, this phone is definitely gonna cost around $600. The shitty Snapdragon 650 is too little for what is being asked. Especially when Sony included the best processor in their Compact line of the time in the past. You can't deny that this phone is shitty for a Compact.

  • And minus heating issue means less power consumption.

  • People are dumb.. Just because the X Compact has a chipset from the SD600 family, doesnt mean its slower than Z5 Compact. SD650 is as fast as SD810, minus the heating issue.

  • Overall, people who are complaining about bezels are trollers, forget about it.

  • The bezels of this phone is no where near as bad as it looks in a picture. This phone is awesome looking in real life. Very classy.

  • Best compact ever.

  • Correction- Sorry guys, suddenly , slipped my mind that z5C is already out long time ago. I honestly think that Z5C is a shame of Sony (as X compact) So, I'm eagerly waiting for Z6C (or Z7C) with 4.75-4.9'' screen, same overall height as Z3C,& 3000 battery. I dont care width/thickness/weight, or price. Don't you agree?? :)

  • Is there a LED notification light on this device, anybody knows?

  • With the lower specs on this phone, something like the cheaper Galaxy A3 2016 version looks like a good alternative to this now.

  • You do not understand already ? People are hungry for big numbers forgetting they are not needed on a 4.6 inch phone and that 820 soc drains a lot of battery compared to 650 soc. 820 soc would be bottleneck for this phone. Its like getting a 1080 nvidia card and a i7 to run on your 60 hz monitor when that is not needed and you will not notice an improvement over a i5 with 1070 gpu. People that use brain know this was a smart choice from sony to keep the phone affordable and good enough to not see a real difference in daily perfornance. Trollers everywhere !

  • IP68 is missing?

  • For the people who are saying z5c better than xc And for the people who are disappointed because it has snapdragon 650 not 820

  • As a compact owner since the Z1c and now the Z5c, this looks like a definite downgrade from the Z5c with that 650 chip. No upgrading for me. I will be waiting to see if Sony comes out with a true flagship compact utilizing the 820 chip. Sony, if you are listening, the main draw of the Z1, Z3, and Z5 compacts was that you get all the power of the flagship device in a small package. The Xperia compact series have been the only serious iPhone contender these last several years. Had Sony marketed the phone better, the way Samsung plasters the world with their ads, I am sure the compacts would have sold better.

  • exactly. but i think the xz compact will launch next year and not in a few months

  • Yup, they don't see that this is a compact version of Xperia X.... They might release Xperia XZ Compact few months later.

  • Thats because this is NOT Sonys flagship compact fella, else it would cost 440£ as z5c was priced, X Compact midranger costs 380£ exactly because...its the best midrange compact phone out there

  • Is this phone is lunching globally. ? when it will be available at India..? What is the expected price? Plz ans gsmarena...

  • You sound more like a troll to me.

  • Best compact on market based on performance, Quality and Reliability ...just another Sony cell.

  • Eeehhh???

  • ugliest overpriced compact i've ever seen. lol. z5c is a lot better than this. shame on you sony.

  • I'm a Sony Fan . I have Sony TV'S for many years , lap tops, & I had Z1 c, ZR , ZL, & Z3 C . This one has same size screen +bigger in length +bigger in with&thickness& only 100ma + battery & some little tech specs which are not big deal. If they will built Z5 C with 4.7 -4.9 screen & same length of Z3C & 3000 battery, they would break all the records. But , They probably will not.... Or why would they come up with scrap (waste of Money for them & for buyers if they will have Z5C) . If they dont(Z5C) go (no, run ) & buy Z3C....The best so far.

  • the Z5 compact is actually better

  • So the best compact phone by far, and the only one I would consider buying...became just another phone. I thought these things were supposed to get better with time, not worse. Very heartbreaking, especially with all the hype this was getting before it was announced.

  • I agree, there is no other choice for fans of small form factor devices. No mid range (SD650 level) devices are as compact as X Compact; sony wins by default. I think I'll be getting the white colour once it becomes available locally. I like the design and materials used.

  • They didn't give up. This is not their next compact flagship phone. Why does no one actually read the articles and press release. Sony clearly said this is a compact mid-range version for the X series, not the "new Z5 compact"!

  • Dude, why you so many people only focusing on numbers, try it then complain, you want snapdragon 820 for better performance for example, did you try it with snapdragon 650, or you people want 4-6 gb of ram, well, if you are a sony boy then you should know that sony doesn't need more than 3 gb of ram, do you want to pay additional 100-150-200 $ just for additional numbers???

  • No 4k video ? Sad

  • Why did you give up putting flagship specs in the compact, Sony? And why such thick chin? The side bezels can be slimmer like the XA

  • Help for sony. I would advice sony to reduce end bezels, work on thinner gadgets as its easy to use and not bulky. Praise for sony. Specs are the best

  • Best compact performance and Quality cell on market.

  • Why I'll never buy another Sony phone This is by far the worst phone I have ever owned. I bought this because it was the only phone on the market(in the US) the size I wanted, and with wireless charging, would have gotten the z5c if it had this. Charging ports are always a weakness so I wanted to avoid that on a more expensive device if I could. The big issues with this phone: 1. The build quality and materials are subpar for the job. The back panel was a clear and obvious engineering fail. How they could possibly think the material they used was up to the task is beyond me. The phone also has way way too much flex, which is part of why the glass cracks so easily. 2. The lollipop release for the phone was terrible, and caused significant battery drain. This you can solve by flashing back to kitkat, which is what I did. Marshmallow is not proving to be any different from what I've seen on the web thus far. 3. The microphone firmware has significant issues, it will not function correctly when making/taking a call. I have tried reinstalling firmware and all other suggestions on the web, none of which work to resolve the issue. This essentially makes this phone, unusable as a phone, unless you can always have it on speaker, in which case the mic works fine. 4. The auto mode for the camera is complete garbage, using manual mode resolves most of the issues for the camera, but switching between video and picture is poorly implemented. 5. The back light bleed at the top of screen is super annoying, this isn't an issue if you always keep the phone perpendicular to your face, but if you angle it away from you it is super visible, there's a perfectly white strip and it just makes the phone look cheap and again poorly engineered. 6. The signal indicator is another firmware fail, it often shows very weak signal when in fact you have excellent signal, this isn't a big issue, but is an annoyance. 7. After the first drop on the floor, with a case and tempered glass screen protector the touch screen cracked, and ceased to work. Sony builds some great looking phones, with impressive specs in their compact lines, but the quality of materials and manufacturing is not good. If your product is designed for mobile use, it should be built to withstand the normal circumstances it would encounter in a mobile work environment. Sadly this is not the case. If you do a google search for any of these issues you can find repeated postings of most of the issues I encountered from other users. You can also find them within reviews of the z3c on this site.

  • There's a youtube channel called "Tech Trinkets", the guy made comparison with the Z5 compact and this is better in everything, speed, browsing, multitasking and camera (especially low lights), so other than 4k and waterproofing, this phone is an upgrade over the Z5 compact. There's also another comparison vs the iphone 6s, it's a year old but still more expensive and it did very well against it.

  • Brilliant Phone. If you hated waterproof phones - Its great this is no longer waterproof. The compact also got thicker and taller for the same screen size. A great improvement for those of us who like big and thick phones with small screens. Will be placing my order for a new X Compact today....... NOT!!!!!!

  • we could definitely try that one too and i wouldnt be opening 6+ apps at the same time

  • You can always try Chinese smartphone anytime.

  • I wouldnt quite do that so quickly. Smart cleaners intention is to learn your user habits. Give it some time to learn, I suppose after some time it keeps apps you use more often in cache without reload ;-)

  • So Long and boring TROLL:) Though you try to post fake story....Z3C users don't control their laughter.. The every bit of your post is False.. The truth?? Turn opposite this fake....

  • The same story you will always and a lot find it in sony pages, "i had xperia z1,z2,z3,.........from 2,3 years and still awesome until now" sony is a beast, but sadly people needs a very long time to recognize this.

  • Thanks for sharing your experience. Salesman always brag about quality. So, It always good to have real user share their experience.

  • Hello rossy, the qualcomm 650 is the best midrange chipset ever, although the 820 has double performance of this one, but the 650 is already excellent, and with very low power consumption, and low power consumption obviously means less overheat.

  • yes, you're right. it is a garbage with very long battery life.

  • to those who bought this device, if you are facing reloading of apps often, disable smart cleaner

  • would be nice if Sony made it a bit larger screen than a room for that lower bezel, look for almost all LG`s phones

  • My experience with Z3C: 1. Perfect until now, since 14 months. 2. Thanks Sony.

  • Speed & Camera Test Xc vs Z5c

  • I've had the huge phablet Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Neo for 2 years and I want a smaller phone. I was considering this phone or the z5 Compact and I am going to get this phone. However bad you say this 650 processor is, it will be far better than mine right now. I don't really need the extra power(the only power hungry app on my phone is Hearthstone, and it runs smoothly on my old Note) and I would rather have the new generation camera (for photos, I don't like shooting videos) and fingerprint scanner, and the new port usb type-c. It looks cute and I will be a happy girl with it :)

  • I agree.....

  • If you want S650 or S652 in X Compact, it would need at least 3,000 mah battery. Such a big battery is going to add to the size. No so compact anymore, if not S625, might as well use S820 or S821. S650 is just lame.

  • Gsm please battery life review for this phone, i am pretty sure that they need very long time to test battery life :D.

  • If I was a troll, I'd troll about owning some Xperias and having bad experience with all of them. But instead, I'm not - maybe repetitive, but people will at least acknowledge that problems do exist. If this makes me a troll, then be it.

  • 100% troller, i knew it, a one who had a bad experience with a low end sony smartphone which probably defected wouldn't post his story on all sony pages, at least on the smartphone page which he had bad experience with it.

  • Okay then. I'm just saying so people don't get the false impression of the 'famous' quality some of you seem to know Sony from. I do, however, believe that some of you people do actually have as nice experience with your choice of Sony as you say. Just can't understand how some people take it so personally if there are negative experiences or opinions about these products. :/

  • Dude you are not understanding the exact meaning that i meant, let me explain it for you. I see your same post from months until now on many sony pages about your wife's m4 aqua which is probably not normal "defected", while in the other side, i see every moment on sony pages people saying " i had xperia z,z1,z2 or z3 from 2,3 years and still very smooth, like rocket or luxury like when i bought it " so what is your porpoise from mentioning your many times on sony pages???

  • Good news. The fingerprint scanner at first was not listed in the specs on Sony's website, now it is. So it appears the US version may get the option. With this news I guess it's best to wait as you wouldn't get a warranty if you bought the international version. Also, the US model hopefully will have att bands 29, and 30 which are rolling out now. I actually bought the z5 compact. Loved the phone. It gets warm which I can deal with, but it suffers from random lockups and reboots and there is no solution to this problem so I had to send it back.

  • Why do you even ask if I know about old Sony-phones? And no, as long as their design-style is from a brick, I won't bother myself and buy one of them. Why are you trying to make people into buying these if it's clear that it's a no-no? Or well, the situation in which I would have to decide between Sony vs. Apple, it would be clearly Sony in that case... But that's too extreme example of a situation to happen. :-) But as I've said, I almost bought the Z2 instead of the HTC, but didn't as people started to post about gaps near the screen and rear camera. I was ready to cover the phone's looks with a case.

  • Maybe you never hold any sony flagship ,once you hold it you will love it and samsung s4 was not true flagship making by samsung , only S6,note4 and above deserve to call samsung flagship. You should get atleast xperia z to know how powerful xperia flagship

  • Experience?? About sony?? Through that m4 aqua?? Come on, did you even knew what I meant when I asked you to try xperia go, do you know how old is the phone???

  • Nope, not interested in buying a Sony again. I could try one at the local phone store, but I would never blow away my own money into one of these. Simply I believe these aren't worth the high price, which also goes for HTC as well. High praises around the web, but personal experience with both has been nothing like people say. :)

  • Oh my God, m4 aqua again, this man holding his m4 aqua since a long time and crossing with it threw the world saying sony is bad, i did say something for you before 'you should try xperia go' if you remember, come on man.

  • Review please and comparisons between x compact and Galaxy S7 or huawei P9

  • Why I would be any manufacturer's fan? I've already mentioned several times, I've owned a Galaxy S4 and while that was a decent phone with a custom rom (CM), it was horrible in stock-condition and unusable. So conclusion: never Samsung again, same goes for Sony as my wife's M4 Aqua was a disaster quality- and software-wise (parts falling off, like the rear camera unit; no adoptable storage-feature with Android Marshmallow-update) and I heavily dislike Sony's way to design a phone. Don't be a sheep and become a brand-fan, that makes no sense.

  • Not an issue anymore. Their phone sales have increased and that is no longer a problem. Sony made an official claim that they will not be cutting off Xperia brand.

  • You know... A phone does not have fans inside...

  • Guys guys guys, at least when you want lie say something believable, hopeless.

  • Well, i see your name is lie bigger than what you said :D.

  • chinese can make better spec with the same price, but not with 4.6". have u ever seen china phone on that screen size have good spec? 1080p is not needed for 4.6", its just a waste of power, u cant even see the pixel with 720p unless u stick your eyes on the screen, but that isnt the case

  • I own many android phones. I prefer android. I own one apple phone, the iPhone se. I bought it because it had apples latest processor and such. That phone kicks ass in every aspect but the front camera. It's so fast and the battery is awesome. This phone is also more compact than sony's. On days I need a small phone the se is the best phone out there period.

  • stop dreaming tanny. it is just a plastic phone. with cheap quality. you should see the reality. lol.

  • tell that to tanny

  • Got it yesterday and checked it. All night . Cheep looking Plastic casing will get scrached and look like a toy in a short time . All fingerprints stay on ghis phone. . Let it work, lkke transfer files its Heating up. Batterie in first day not good at all. Speakers sounds is weak

  • Yes, because x compact resolution only 720p.. lower resolution are get better performance

  • Bad quality? Lol. My Z3 works like new even in 2016. If you are Samsung fan close your mouth and don't post negative comments.

  • Disagreed. 410 is too slow, even with the 2GB RAM. Processor is important, and you can also find that phones with the 410 such as Moto G struggle to play games even at 720p. 625 is a midrange processor. Once again, during heavy multitasking the difference between 625 and a 650 will be evident. X Compact is supposed to be a flagship miniature phone. How can they put a slow processor like a S625 on that? People wanted a S820 equipped miniature compact phone. Sony's Compact line were high end phones, with flagship grade internals. Putting a processor like 625 would be a shame.

  • 625 is far less power hungry, performance and benchmarks is not everything. Please note that even 410 can run Android with almost no lag as long as there's at least 2G Ram. We don't always needs the most powerful SoC, battery life is just as important.

  • Correction, not people, say trollers :D.

  • Just got it today....but can't find any screen protectors or cases yet :-(

  • You have to understand a trolls mind.... Whatever Sony uses is...crap to begin with. Reality dont matter to these folks.

  • Their mobile-division isn't really that far from being closed if they magically don't begin to sell more phones. There's a damn good reason for low sales; the bad quality just doesn't gather interest.

  • WTF! How did you decide that the 650 is a crap processor AND it's worst than 652?!? They are right next to each other on the top 10 of the smartphone processor benchmark list and if you look at benchmark scores of phones with those processors the score of the 650 is higher than 652. It's written black on white there! You can't just make things up. Here's an example of two phones with 652: the LG G5 SE highest scores - single core 1252 multi core 2490 Samsund S9 pro 2016 (that even has 4gb ram, not 3 like the others) - single core 1250 multi core 2607 And the bench for the new X compact with the 650 - single core 1375 and multi core 3352 So how is this crap processor?

  • Sony won't die. Never.

  • Plus that a downside of waterproofing is that the phone gets hot when used because it is well sealed. I swear that people complain about the lack of waterproof even their phone stays cool or they complain about the heat when it is waterproof ( for instance z5).

  • Just one more tenth of an inch. and it was perfect imo. 4.7" is the PERFECT size for me. Oh well... Can't change what is alreaxy existing. -,-

  • Well it does not explode so that's a plus!

  • any idea about launching x compact in India? if not shall I go for x? only concern is battery.. how about battery life?
