Comparing the cameras on the 3a XL and the Xperia XZ3 which smartphone has the better setup in terms of better low light photos, faster autofocus, better image stabilisation, better audio recording in video, a much wider front & back cameras and overall better camera speed?

Great phone with terrible soft of camera which is making photos often not sharp and with terrible grain effect making photos to softy and in my opinion destroying usually photos. I'm dissapointed because my older Galaxy s7 is making much better photos. 75% of photos I usually must delete.

Nice recommendation. I would recommend you leave this site and go for some cellphone brand and China made phone. My respect to Sony brand in terms of durability, performance and Camera better choose Sony.

Sold my old Galaxy S9+ as i was disappointed & underwhelmed by it's: 1. Non wide-angle front & rear camera 2. Weird yellow/purple hue when on low-light 3. Poor selfie camera After all the software updates...would you guys say the XZ3 is much improved vs the S9+? And, are we still receiving monthly security updates for the XZ3? Would love your advice & thoughts on this. Thanks.

Xz3 is not a bad phone, but for that money youcan easy get galaxy s9, huawei mate 10 pro or even the vanilla mate 20 wuth much better specks. If gaming is not your thing than i can even recomend you to buy the mate 9,the best phone to date when it comes to lcd screen brightness, battery on paar with the new models, far better camera than xz3 and very solid build quality. For around 150 pounds:). Better search more before buyng, there are to many choices.

Wrong.. My wife's XZ2 destroys my XZ3 in terms of smoothness.. Zero lag whatsoever. My XZ3 does occasionally lag.

Not exactly. I've tested XZ2 and XZ3 and 3 works faster - specially webbrowsing. I think XZ3 have faster internal flash memory and maybe its "feels" like OLED screen have faster pixel response time. Im 100% sure that XZ3 is little, little "faster". Cheers.

The Xz3 has the same chipset, cpu and graphics as the xz2. The xz2 is actually a faster phone because it has a 1080p display while the Xz3 has a 1440p display so it uses more pixels for the cpu and gpu to process which slows the phone down the geekbench scores confirm this as slower than the xz2. This is why I bought the xz2 instead.

I got my own (1 week) and all I can say its super amazing. The feel and look with TPU etui is stagering premium. Screen with little calibration (Profesional setting + white balance R and G correction) looks insane! Photo gallery, Music App, speed and smoothness at top level. Battery for me (with dark mode) - 1,5 day. Camera makes good picture, maybe not level of ilce7Sm2 (heh) but in Manual mode u Can make nice photos in night (not always but its not to hard make very good photo). Dynamic Vibration makes audio sounds little louder, always on-display, proximity sensor wake-up and many many more. If you find this @ 499USD take it. You wont regret it.

Do other people have a problem with the camera? I get "Unknown error" and it stops working for many days. Then it will work and suddenly it will no longer work. I have tried everything. (Safemode, full reset, turn off/on, full reset through Xperia Companion). I have search on Google and its seem to be a normal problem with the Xperia phones.

haha, no. XZ3 has better software and better performance than S9 plus. Especially in world regions like Europe, there is a huge difference. The battery lasts longer according to endurance rating aswell. XZ3 is in my opinion overall the better device.

That's a terrible photo with too much noise even in bright sunlight, a characteristic picture taken by sony phone. Even a 20 years old phone can do that.

what you call "weird color adjustment" is actually a post processing method that sony is Un-capable to do. See? sony uses their own sensors but they have bad post processing. that's why even cheap Moto-G can beat xz3 easily.

Dxomark is rating is so mysterious especially the zoom in and bokeh added to mess up the charts. Rely on it better try it out experience the phone. I use my Z2 take many great photos, but I don't see Dxomark rate a nice score. I have my natural color image, those image come up with weird color adjustment can get better score in Dxomark is cheating more than verdict.

Nope. Sony mobile works alone. Without any support from other electronics division. Thats why xperia camera is always worst. Even MotoG has higher dxo score than this overpriced xz3. And it will be no change after the merging between mobile + electronics business. Phone product will never be allowed to use any techs from camera/tv product.

I applaud your efforts in trying to fix Sony but did you consider that Sony haven't got the technology or the means to manufacture thin bezel phones? If they could do it they would have done this when all the competitors made the switch from fat to thin 18 months ago. China are killing the competitors right now with technology, manufacture, R&D and price and most of the world's materials used for manufacturing come from china. Sony bought ericsons 50% share about 8 years ago they have a old factory and as their a Japanese company it costs them more to get parts and materials shipped in from China so they manufacture their own housing and its cheaper to make thick bezel phones. The xz3 is one piece of 2 year old tech using an outdated 845 chipset outdated 19mp camera only 4gb ram thick bezels they need help. You notice how long it takes them to transfer to new technology in their flagships they have to ask their bosses from the other successful divisions of Sony corp for more money every time they release a phone that flops.

Don't look at DXOmark, go and actually look at some comparisons of the XZ3's camera with other flagships from last year. It's nowhere near as bad as you think and could easily be the best out there if Sony improved on a couple of things.

I have used the Xperia XZ3 for about 5 months now. The things I do not like about my device: -Volume button could maybe be a tiny bit more tight. But at least it did not get worse over time. -Main camera is not very good -Touch screen, especially on the curved edges, is not that responsive -Oleophobic coating failed me on a few dots / stains, could be my error though -6GB RAM would have been nice because often times the device fails to keep everything open Neutral: -it would have maybe been better if the device was 4K because sometimes I think the screen has to be a little bit sharper -for me the battery life is good enough What I like: -Performance -Software -Screen colors -durability (I have let drop the device a few times already but other than some metal scuffs and glass scratches everything is fine) -There is no notch -No Bixby aswell Overall this device is far from perfect but as of right now it still is the best for me.

Upgraded from the z5 premium and I honestly wish i hadn't, there are just so many little disappointments that all add up to a really bad phone, Firstly the keyboard is smaller and a slightly different shape to the touch keyboard on all other sony phones but its not been changed for any type of utilisation though the only difference you notice is every message you mistype multiple words because this keyboard just has to be different for no reason which is really fun, secondly things like the screen recorder were randomly not included even though my old sony had it, the camera is ok but unless you are taking professional pictures with it to print and sell theres really no noticeable difference with it and any other half decent camera, battery is also only 100 mAh smaller than the last one I had but i have run out of power so many times with this one that i'm always actively conserving my battery now which again limits the phone, there is a double side tap feature which is totally useless but it makes a box pop up on screen so literally everytime my finger is near the edge of the screen this stuff pops up whether im in the middle of a game or watching a video it pops up. Also the touch screen is already starting to mess up occasionally and become non-responsive. All in all nothing about this phone actually impresses me and quite a few features and hardware feel like a step backwards compared to the z5 premium, which is over 3 years old now.

It already has higher battery endurance than most other flagships on the market. After using it for the past 4 months, I can say it doesn't feel thick at all. It's definitely a bit heavier than other phones the same size, but that's a sign of sturdy build quality. There's plenty of tempered glass protectors out there that will also cover up the logo for you. I'm actually using one.

No. You don't know build up structure. The structure is the main fact Sony has better durability than cheaper brand. Just like my Z2 it has the uni-body aluminium frame, the structure of the frame build up from composite materials to protect the phone. Last year they finally made a little thing to follow tall screen era, made a little touch in UI, also a little change in camera placement. Foldable phone is complicated, even if they only copy the design it will still need a big RD, that means big cost. I think its something they arent capable of. Man, the death is near..

I used this phone for 2months it's really bad only the screen is beautiful but its way too slippery. The camera in the middle so with my gimbal the in the frame I could see the gimbal. Also flash in the middle so can't use to look under bad or between two furniture. sidesense is useless. Camera button on the side activates randomly. Sony fans has been enjoying many benefits long before they were accepted as a standard and even some things has not come to other makers. Like aptx bluetooth has been at least z1 days, more than five years ago. It is audible difference when you are using bt headphones with aptx or without, massive difference in sound quality. Ldac, is everyone now in that? I don't think so.. And waterproofing has been too standard in Sonys flagship phones at least z1 days, six years ago or maybe even models before that has water/dust proofing,unheard at that times with other companies flagships. So many has enjoyed real benefits many years ago with Sony phones and nowadays first to have newest android and guaranteed patches years to come. So it is no wonder why some people has been really pleased with their Sony phones. And did I mentioned one of if not the best browsing speed.. So there you go!

I will never understand how come in the camera market Sony can battle with giants like Canon ,Nikon ,Fujifilm and in some areas winning far ahead ,yet in the smartphone business , they provide very good sensors for almost every major brand that has a top of the line camera but not for their own smartphones ...all I can see is the same 23 Mpixel F2.0 camera for 3 years in a row. Yes thats different. But If i shot a little earlier, i will get the same result, tough my phone will take more photos, while your phone instantly get four with different move. Thats not big advantage, because other phone also get the job done with different method. Full screen is innovating ? SMH. Clearly you dont understand innovation means. Remember phone only can make calls ? Now you can have wifi, bluetooth, fm radio, ir blaster, mp3 player mp4 player, video recording, photo taking, e wallet and so on. that is called innovation. you combine 2 machine functions into 1 machine having without sacrificing any of the functions. Phone that can shoot out hologram is what i would call innovating. Making the phone more appealing to the eyes are not innovating. U know samsung back in 2014 already introduce samsung galaxy k zoom with 10x optical zoom? But the phone is rather thick because of the lenses and the quality is not on par with any real dslr with different zoom lenses. Foldable phone ? That idea is still new plus if they make all sides glass it will shatter or crack when fall. If plastic then prone to scratches. their camera isnt as capable of taking photos compare to other flagships because they dont have OIS. They shine in taking video because of their 5 axis stabilization. But if you want to get usable photos you need to use their manual mode. Btw sony camera is always close to real color, what you see is what you get in the photos. if you like vivid photos probably u can go for huawei those. Noise reduction for sony is always not that great which is why you will see alot of pixels at night. Google pixel 1 which has no OIS is also taking good photos but pixel 2 and 3 has OIS and taking even better picture plus it has night shot. You can get the pixel software by rooting your phone but for OIS, you have to use a gimbal if you want

SD835 to SD845 wont even notice much different in speed because they both are fast enough and now 12GB ram ? srsly ? Some gaming laptop has only 8gb on them and can run high demand game without issue. This shows that how much unoptimize android is when you need 12gb of ram. Yes Sony is lacking behind in internal storage but they let you have micro sd slot. Most of the china flagships no longer offer micro sd slot which is important because when you changing from 1 phone to another, your internal storage would not follow you but just unmount and mount the micro sd card to the new phone and voila you got all your data there. sony became frigging masters of planned obsolescence just like apple, phone jacks are dying on their phones too fast, 2 times they died on my z5 and then z5 premium, and after googling i saw it happened suspicuously too ofter to others as well. so, for not it'll be great phone, but i don't trust sony anymore, pay a lot for a phone which will start to fall apart in 2 yrs and force you pay a lot again for the next new model - no way.

This is the reason why xperia is overpriced but with less features compared to the other flagships. Instead of redesigning the softwares, sony have chose to add unecessary useless components like the 'metal thing inside' and the 's*upid vibrator motor' no one asked for. And even with that '3M' thing.. your xperia is still one of the most difficult phones to repair. I've seen many reports that sony service centers are very bad.

Stop bragging Samsung how good it is, it still stick the battery in the battery room any repair could force to replace the sealed battery because the battery stick inisde the phone, this is the bad design. Unlike Sony use the 3M tape release the battery much more easily. Plus Sony has a piece of Alluminium frame inside the XZ3 to protect the phone, unlike Samsung use less material less weight and less quality.

I know one respected technician man here in our Country who can replace the Sony Xperia's Battery the same as the service centre can do. Most of the users that their phone (Samsung, Sony, Apple, etc) was fixed by this guy preferred to go to him to fix their device rather than going to Service Centre. Actually real japanese browser is not exist. What you'll find in playstore is just regular browsers, which is based on the opensource Chromium browser. Some people make new browsers based on it and change the theme and then rebrand it with different name. In case of "Japanese browser", the theme has been modified to use kanji/hiragana letters, and with different layout. But more than 90% of its functionalities, is still taken from Chromium.

If you know how to hold the phone lower when you typing the fingerprint scanner is the perfect placed, don't forget hold lower can prevent the phone slippery because your fifth finger stop at the bottom of the phone. Then its the IMX380. 1/2.3" sensor with 1.55um pixel size, pair with 12mp resolution (optimal between sensor size). While current IMX400 1/2.3" sensor size are the same, the smaller pixel size at 1.22um and combine using 19mp results is pushing too hard for the small sensor. I think 12mp res are optimal for a 1/2.3" sensor size. And only IMX380 has the biggest pixel size in a single mobile camera sensor today. Other bigger sensor using either Pixel binning or Quad Bayer, which i think still not practical at the moment.

Nah, I'd take a reasonable sensor and pixel size upgrade over the IMX 400 19MP Motion Eye camera sensor instead of getting the biggest camera sensor in my opinion. Getting the biggest camera sensor means that you're getting small pixel size too, I'm still having doubts with the quad bayer colour array thing especially low-light to be honest. Plus, I don't know how they're doing for their camera software algorithms, so sticking to something with a reasonable sensor and pixel size is the safest bet. Saying of camera software algorithms, I know that they've improved quite a lot as seen in the XPERIA XZ2, with the XPERIA XZ3 succeeding it later on, but I assume some of it was thanks to them working with Qualcomm on the ISP, so I still hope that they can further improve their camera software algorithms

my korea phone always ask my permission if any apps want to access camera. your xperia allow some apps to access camera without your permission. it means your xperia is not secure. maybe sony has modified the android os and put security weakness in it. Look, I'm not the only person who's encountered this. There's someone on XDA who had the exact same problem. LG were notorious for this problem with their previous panels used on the Pixel 2 XL. XZ3 probably gets a pass because it doesn't have the additional problems as the 2XL (insane blue shift and black smearing).

What kind of sense does it make if you are claiming its an LG panel, and no new LG Panel out there has the grain except - so are (only) you claiming - the xz3? And how did so many people review the display and noone mentioned anything considering some sort of grain? As I said, I cant find anything unusual too. And yes, if you are comparing a high quality video on XZ3 and a current high end Samsung display, in my opinion and many others the xz3 one is looking better, because there is more contrast, more colors and more dynamic.

Pixel 2 XL had the same problem, although XZ3 has better clarity and colour calibration. Still I was disgusted to find if had this defect after hearing all the rave reviews about the display.

Samsung note 9 doesn't have dual front firing stereo speakers, so it has slightly smaller bezel and the dual camera design is awkward, rounded camera is more attractive, but rounded square is inelegant and looks so stupid. IPhone has a huge notch and the dual camera doesn't match with the back cover color, it doesn't proportional and looks plain Jane doesn't drop-dead gorgeous. The XZ3 looks drop-dead gorgeous, it has characteristics "back-notch" and rounded camera lens and matches with great colors!

I can completely understand firemens, bodyguards for a rubber phone, or a lifeguards guarding the beachs from drowning people. But for a casual ones is not really needed. So yes IP68 it is safety feature of coutrse but this safety feature is costly and not everybody would pay for it. Another example Iris scanner is also a safety feature but phone with it will cost 100 more bucks. If a fingerprint reader is more than enough or some people can use pattern or other security features which are free at google play Iris scanner is not needed. But why we have to pay for this safety feature 100 more bucks if 95 out of 100 people will never find it useful?

I agree with you. Phones with expandable storage is always a nice thing to have. For instance, taking a picture or record a video and save it on an SD card would be better because you will have enough internal storage for other apps. Even though I'm a bit disappointed about the whole no headphone jack, Sony at least kept the whole expandable storage which is nice

In my opinion, waterproof is a very important feature, it help to protect your device from water damage, especially nowadays flagships selling price is insanely high so it must have extra protection, the internal storage full of photos and must be protected, so waterproof is important because you can't know when will the phone splash by water just like when will you drop the phone on floor. 2nd. The waterproof & dustproof ensure the device have best durability for longer lifespans. 3rd. Man SD slot is useless i have a 64GB disk space in a phone and still have 40% left. In case of earphones i never used them. Carrying Moto X4 and never used earphones. Before had Lenovo Vibeshot and never used earphones. Even before had Huawei Y5 and never used earphones. Since 1996 i got my first phone i never used earphones. They are not essential. Air to breath fresh oxygen is essential but not jack. And for those which going to towns to bars and pubs to drink like their fathers i reccomend keep phone at home. micro sd card provide you a very good alternative for data storage. it is very small and hardly get damaged unlike internal storage. lets say your phone got shattered by force, it would be much easier to retrieve data from micro sd than internal storage. micro sd resist EM wave and salt water quite well compare to internal storage. Lets say you stuck in an isolated place and dying, it is better to record your final words in micro sd than internal because it is more robust. For flashing ROM, micro sd can act as your back up system and u dont need cloud storage or computer to back up your data. Plus it is easy to transfer data from 1 phone to another. Just dismount and mount. For 3.5 jack, i still need it because my car audio play with aux port, without it i have to buy a bluetooth receiver, or change my audio player to bluetooth enabled. But in my working place i prefer bluetooth over wired. I am not sure why they want to throw away those features that are still useful like FM radio, 3.5mm jack, micro sd, dual sim, removable batteries, IR blaster and so on. All of those features is very useful to me. Is a shame that my previous phone galaxy note 4 is the phone with all the features and only short of dual sim.

That's awesome jrh! Thanks again! I've decided though that I'm gonna return my XZ3. The camera just isn't up to par like they say the XZ2 Premium's was. So I think I will just wait for the XZ3 Premium. Sony should've taken the super high ISO and dual lens setup of the XZ2 P and given it to the XZ3 with its OLED screen. But Sony messed up (again). lol So sadly, I am sending it back. I will be waiting (impatiently lol) though for the XZ3 Premium, which I assume will be THE phone to buy next year!

XZ3 is available in Malaysia, imported from china with price tag of 745 USD, 6gb version. Probably can get with around 700 USD during 11.11 event. Meanwhile galayx note 9 128gb is 650 USD. So do not worry much about the price of android flagship. Just a few months and due to competition, it will be relatively affordable compare to iphone.

It's sad that you seem more confident about the specs than Sony Mobile's chat reps are. lol But given like every site is saying the H9493 is the 6 GB version, then so be it! Well what's that website then so I can see? The H9493 has VoLTE capability too right? My friend on XDA (see link below) says his research has shown that flashing the U.S. firmware (which is for the single SIM H8416 he and I currently have) on the Dual SIM H9493 should yield NO issues other than that you can't use two SIM cards on the H9493 anymore. But that's fine cuz I only need one and MicroSD card. Thoughts?

H9493 is the only version with 6GB RAM. It wouldn't be the first time Sony's English sites got the specs wrong, you have to check the TW/HK specific sites for more accurate info. H9493 is specific to the HK/TW region.

Nice. Yeah but the one on 1shopis the H9493, which Sony Mobile confirmed for me is actually has 4 GBs of RAM, not 6. I e-mailed 1shop about this as well, so we'll see what they say. I have a friend on XDA who has the H9493 (I think.......asked him to reconfirm that just now), and I just asked him to confirm the amount of RAM too. I'll take HIS word above all else. lol If it DOES have 6 GBs, I will prob return my H8416 U.S. version and buy the H9493 one off Amazon as well, and then flash the U.S. firmware on there b/c that is the only way to get VoLTE here per my XDA friend (that's what he had to do). A past user of iphone and a present user of Xperia. Yes iphone real camera with a bit of yellow tint is good and oh its battery issues, no file saving feature, no screen sharing, no Bluetooth, limited applications in app store, clunky touch recognition, no wifi direct(thank almighty it has a wifi atleast otherwise I would have no other choice than dumping it into a trashbin), no sd card facility, and i will keep further posting more list of no's of iphone is real for sure which makes you feel like you are carrying a cheap and crappy ipod. Whereas Xperia artificial camera with high pixels and good clarity with 32gb internal space and sd suppoted till 256gb with utg supported, octacore processing, connected either via hdmi through type c connector or through screen sharing to an hdtv, one tap file sharing. Dual sim(very important since managing calls of two different departments) and many more is absolutely fake because of which, i don't even need to carry my laptop. It has been one year since i am using fake or artificial which has become so useful that i will always prefer this artificial which is Xperia.

Multiple sources report the screen was made in joint collaboration between JDI and Panasonic. Teardowns also show it was made by JDI. A 5 second Google search shows this. "P-Oled" is not a term used and trademarked by only LG, it just means "Plastic Oled", meaning its built using a plastic substrate. If you have proof it was made by LG, cite your source. This phone doesn't have a 4K screen resolution. Only 2k. Also no auto focus on its 960fps, which makes it generally unusable. Sony has a terrible reputation internationally with mobile phones. It has done massive advertising campaigns previously, but bad models and designs has led the public to avoid Sony phones.

It loses money because their design team are idiots but spec wise the phone is the best on the market overall with it's 4K display, 1080p 960fps slow mo, excellent low light camera performance, modern day specs etc. Samsung devices are overrated, i used a S8 since launch date and all it got is burn in on it's amoled screen and the aspect ratio was horrendous for media consumption so the 16:9 aspect ratio on the XZ2 premium is really a welcomed blast to the past after using that strange 18.5:9 ratio. The xz doesn't fall short of a premium device. Have you even used one of their phones or even bothered to look at comparisons ? Didn't think so, the xz2 premium camera is the best on the market when it comes to overall quality and low light performance. Their sales are dropping because people like you don't know the difference between a premium phone and a mid range device. 4K HDR phone displays exist so there's no excuse not to use one in your phone unless you don't care about your clients and just want to make money which is what everyone is doing except for Sony which tries to beef up their phones performance and specs at the cost of stile.

Please stop lying. Sony Mobile is struggling to sell its phones. It keeps losing money every year, even though the rest of Sony (Playstation, cameras etc) make healthy profits. If people want a premium Android phone, they'll splash the cash and buy a Samsung flagship device or a Pixel phone. If they want a midrange Android phone at a lower price, one ot the Chinese brand phones meets their needs. Sony phones are underspecc'ed, overpriced, and their phone cameras take worse photos than other phones at a similar price point. LOL. Stock google's andoid ui is designed based on competitor's (samsng and appl) ui. Google learns new features from both and implement it to the stock ui little by little. Currently Samsng's multiwindow feature is still the best compared to stock's. And dont forget the "gesture" features in Pie, which is a terrible copy of ios feature.

Stock android ui is the ugliest. That is the reason why most people choose sam, hwawei, and xiomi. This is the reality. The first time i did after buying xperia is replacing its ugly ui with third party launcher from playstore. I even tried to root it to add more features. Xperia is only have 1 feature. The camera. That's it, not more. Other than the camera, xperia is a featureless device.

My last xperience with xperia was: - overheat - bad display - worst aftersales services (much worse compared to sam appl and china brands). Had to wait 3 months to repair my xperia. Even cheap local brand made by my country has better aftersales compared to sony. - Ugly ui with ugly colors and ugly icons everywhere. But the wallpaper is very nice. - Bloatwares (like ps app, junk avg antivirus)

I've read this before on their website, and they don't go in depth with the xz3 display as TechRadar does. Moreover, the one you have posted is a common issue on the oled display. It does not change the fact that XZ3 oled is better than Iphone Xs and Note 9 in terms of watching videos and viewing photos.

Apologies if someone has already mentioned this but I would like to clarify something the review doesn’t look at. The review doesn’t mention if the Oled display uses a pentile or rgb sub pixel layout. I recently got to have a look at the phone, and I can confirm that the subpixel layout is pentile, I can clearly see the cross hatch patterns. While I am disappointed, I can’t say I am surprised as with the exception of the note 2, an rgb Oled display has never been used in a phone especially at this density.

As someone who has owned several Sony phones since the old Xperia T, I can say that the XZ, my current phone (for the next week, after which I am upgrading to the XZ3) has survived much longer than the Z2 in terms of battery. However, the flip side to that is that both me and my girlfriend have noticed significant issues with the charging port itself (which we hope has been fixed) making any kind of charging a bit hit and miss. As for Qnovo - I couldn't even begin to claim that Qnovo has helped my battery lasting longer than my old Z2 (which became incapable of holding a charge within 18 months of purchase) - I am almost at two years with my XZ and it is going strong, barring the port issues. But here's the kicker - I decided to turn off Qnovo after about 8 months because it was actually quite disruptive. If I had to get up earlier for an early appointment, or was sick for a few days, or slept in for weekends, returning to my regular schedule was actually leaving me with a less than fully charged phone that was meant to last a whole day at 90%. So whether or not the tech works, it's most definitely not for everyone. And I'd much prefer improvements to battery life and life expectancy that weren't disruptive to the actual daily use of my phone. Hoping the XZ3 delivers.

given the technology is fairly new, which only introduced on xz1, just give another few years for it to prove itself. My XZP is just 1 year and 3 months and still need long time to prove it. But my galaxy note 4 and s2 battery lasted me 3 years most and could not hold a charge anymore. But those 2 phones can swap battery easily since it is removable. LG V30 just pick up this qnovo charging last year. So I would say just give it some time. If it is just false claim, sony and lg would not spend so much to adopt the tech. As well as electric car company. Qnovo charging limit the charging current as well. 0-50% 2.4A 50-60% 2.0A 60-70% 1.4A 70-80 1.0A and reducing until 0.5A when reaching 90%. This is to prevent over stress on the battery. That is why you keep seeing sony phone come out last in charging battery battle in youtube. Starting XZ2 premium sony phones support Power Delivery, which is another way of charging using usb c to usb c and power delivery enabled charger. Aukey has those power banks and charger to support it. Read it up. I personally own a PD Aukey XD26 26800 mah power bank and it charge my XZP with 2.4a without even heating. In terms of charging, Power delivery > QC 3.0 > QC 2.0 > normal charging. Because of more efficient charging and less power loss as heat. Try it before you comment. On the other hand, Note 9 only support QC2.0 and apple doesnt even come with a fast charger, LOL

And also if you leave it for overnight charge qnovo adopts to your sleep length and makes average result in example per month and etc.. In that way my beefy 3430mah gets charged for 7-8 hours from 0-100 while a regular one does for aprox 2.5hours on original 1.5A charger. Then why battery endurance increases significantly? Dude I, own XA1 plus from the launch date and when my phone charges in qnovo mode ( I hope you know that Sony can charge battery in two modes, but the second mode only works when it adapts to your long hour and repeating charging cycles). If you had a charge not in regular schedule, the battery care will have to adopt to a new sheet of battery stats, which can take days before that mode goes on charge again.. So the magic key of this is like you in real life, going to sleep the same time everyday makes a huge difference to your own energy resources.. Its just decently stable.. I should finish up here, so to sum up my XA1 plus battery lasts twice when charged in battery care mode vs regular charge.. Thats real experience, lifespan is another thing, but I think this is a good example that this mode does it job really great when established :)

I have noticed that Samsung fan boys are complaining about the lack of a headphone jack and yet at the same time they claim that they are audiophiles. First up and internal DAC is NEVER as good as dedicated external one- no matter what a phone manufacturer will say. How i got around it, Purchased the Audioquest Dragonfly black 1.5 usb audio player and a USB OTG cable, plugged into the phone and then the other end of the DAC has a 3.5mm jack plug. The sound quality is LIGHT YEARS ahead of ANY internal phones DAC and anyone who says otherwise is either lying to themselves or a fanboy! Best part is that it is only the size of a USB flash drive and for phones that do not have a jackplug, well you simply get it back.

First thing, you should accept the truth that nowadays every brand are get rid of 3.5mm jack on their phone. Second about the price, Sony is Japanese if you compare the price with those Chinese cheap phone of course Sony phones are overprice, the quality is different. This sounds shady but this is what they do to keep survive in the competition. If you cant innovate you have to copy to survive. This is what most of the china brand phone is doing. I don't have 4K display but I know that if you want the best experience in 4K quality you should have 4K display instead of use a 1K~2K~3K display to experience the 4K content and SDR upscale to HDR technology only can Sony can do. You sound like the 8K display is advanced but you won't watching it as close as you watching your 4K display in smartphone,that's the huge difference. You say slow motion is gimmick because you don't know how to use it for some cherish moments, even Samsung copy it. Sony should review their pricing strategy. They have released XZ2 @ 73k which is over 1000$, when to other markets they have priced allot more in india . It would be good @ 48-53 @ max of 57k as Galaxy S, it would be a considerable price atleast. Hope they don't mess with pricing again.

I too, am looking for a new Sony flagship, I'm currently using the Z5 (not premium) I am for sure getting the XZ3, sure a hundred or two dollars more, but you get an OLED screen, higher resolution thinner chassis, and a more modern look. Just because you have no need of a 3.5mm jack, does n't others don't need one. I need a 3.5mm jack to connect, so I can listen music in my car. On long journeys, a bluetooth headset will need charging. A bluetooth is both expensive, but heavier to due to batteries and after some time, it does become uncomfortable. Also, why should I keep charging my phone, my professional camera and now a bluetooth headset. As for those dongles (depending on manufacturer) will not allow listening to music and charging at the same time.

This is ridiculous that only Taiwan 🇹🇼 is distributed XZ3 handsets with 6GB Ram. That's the reason why Singapore is not moving fast or big enough on Sony mobile-phones. I love d new 18:9 design, curved screen. Colors looks great. Glad its still stereo speaker, pls don't take this away. Water-resistant though was a good move imo. Software experience was smooth in my experience with d Xperia tx, z, tablet z2 and z5. Camera capture has always dat split second lag though throughout d models i used wonder whether it has been addressed with d xz3. D 3d thingy, glad theres that feature. Compact version of d flagship, good move too imo,hope xz3 will hav a compact version as xz3 seems abit too large for my hands. I loved d side fingerprint sensor on d z5, so sad that had to go. Also sad d 3.5mm jack had to go. Materials used for d phone build, i dunno abt this, hav mix feelings, while its important for d phone to be well built such as being more scratch resistant, future-damage proof frm drops etc, not slippery, gripped enough, has that premium feel, yet i hav d impression Sony is going in d direction of having a premium-looking built and feel but not necessarily always practical ones, e.g z5 sides were good looking and premium feel, the back was frosted glass which looked great and does not leave fingerprint stains on it, however generally, the phone is very slippery in my experience much of it, imo, due to the materials used. I truly hope someone from Sony reads d opinions here hehe. Waiting to be surprised when d Xperia-samurai starts slaying fruits and galaxies as Sony do, i believe, hav d resources, technologies, experiences and d brains to be doing so.

In fact, even the Z5 family barely overheated. The most severe case in a Xperia is on the Z3+, but updates actually made it better surprisingly. Their cameras are so advanced, so obviously they would consume a lot of power. Unreliability? Sony is one of the most, if not the most reliable smartphone brand. I've had three recent Sony phone (Z3, Z3+ and XZP) and the only issue I had was overheating with two of the older ones (overheating is no more a thing since the XZP). Never had screen, Wi-Fi or charging issues.

However even if it looks better than standard Sony phones what my problem is with Sony phones is their unreliability. Moreover, they did not announce for the XZ3 and they did not decide yet if they will sell the phone in middle east area which give as a sign that they are struggling in mobiles industries. So I'm sure they will keep struggling till they give up and this example one of the biggest reasons to fail : They announced for XZ3 on Oct.30 and the device will be available on mid Oct. for pre-order, while Apple will announced for their new devices on Sep. 12 and I'm sure the selling will starts before XZ3.

I LOVED my old Xperia Z3 (2014), but yeah I had the X Performance and it was AWFUL. The 2016 Xperia phones were a joke. I really like the XZ3 overall, but Sony Mobile still needs to push it further than they did. I'm HAPPY they still have stereo speakers, but getting rid of the headphone jack was lame. I'm also very happy it will have the Always-On Display like LG and Samsung do, but still only 4 GBs of RAM and only 64 GB storage? Both of those are low for flagship phones in 2018, even if (at least in the past) Sony's phones were faster with less RAM vs. Samsung phones. But now I'm not sure if that's still the case or not? Oh also, I don't like that the XZ2 Premium had a dual main camera, but the XZ3 has a single? They should've never gone back to single. I like using the wide angle lens (second lens) on my V30, so it would suck not to have it. As stated, I have the LG V30 (T-Mobile) and love it! IF Sony Mobile would start certifying VoLTE for T-Mobile on ALL their flagships instead of just random Compact series ones, I'd maybe consider going back. But they don't, and as long as they don't, I will be nothing more than a spectator. I really do like the Forest Green XZ3 color though. Too bad. The notch on the lower back is a nice tough I think. Much better than on the screen! lol

The thing is sony missed this oppurtunity cause when they removed headphone jack and made usb c they could have brough technologies of 4.4 mm jack to usb c which would make sound altogether better than a 3.5mm jack also their usb amp s master hx is pretty terrific which they don't use on their phones which is kind of lame but otherwise sony phones still have a great sound

Well. IR if FAR from being obsolete. There's still a lot of devices controlled by IR out there. FM radio is also far from being out-dated, it's always a nice plus. But anyway, both IR and FM didn't used to be on previous Sony phones so the comment you did reply wasn't relevant (At all). About the RAM, I'm sorry but 4GB ram on a 2018 Flagship is pure scandal. Just look at the Pixel 2 XL, on 9.0 it's slowish as hell on multi-tasking. 8GB might be overkill but anything less than 6GB isn't fair on a 800 bucks flagship. But maybe I'm all wrong and the phone will run smooth both out of the box and on the long term. I'm also a little disappointed that the XZ2P's dual camera didn't make it to the phone. But besides that, the phone is gorgeous, and that green color is amazingly refreshing. The display is nice, LCD screen from sony were also nice but OLED is OLED. Looking forward to read some unbiased review of that part from display mate.

Nope. I was considering getting an XZ3 until I checked the specs and noticed it was missing a headphone jack. Bluetooth headphones are a joke. They may be ok at first, but like anything with a battery, over time the battery will hold less and less charge. LG gets my love until Sony and the likes get off their high horses.

Its 6 inch full wide screen phone. So, size is not too big compare to older 16:9 screen. I have "honor play" with 6.4 inch and still it looks compact as it has less bezel. So, 6.0" is not too long when it use 18:9 screen. I hope they will launch 5.6 inch compact version and 6.8 Utra version. Sony lost their market in India and some other counties due to price. They could have make the price below $550

from I know Samsung like a company never produced a device without lagging and freezing and much more issues so this is how logo Samsung does not make the device good even if it does not have the overheating issue. Seems like a nice phone but 158mm in height is too tall for my taste. Needs to be about 20mm less to make it more comfortable for me to carry around. I would love an XZ3 Compact at XA2 size or smaller. Those camera slide-outs will be so common next year that this XZ3 design will be outdated after only six months. The OPPO Find X will be copied by other brands over and over. There is nothing special coming from Sony to differentiate themselves from the pack. I say stick to the Pixel line. At least their cameras are superior and software updates matters. Sony lost some of us when they ditched the headphone jack. Their price gouging has never helped them either.

Dude, my wife and I have used the following SONY devices : Satio - xperia pro - xperia arc - xperia S - xperia V - xperia Z - xperia Z2 - xperia Z3 - xperia Z5 premium - xperia XZ Also we have Tablet Z and Tab Z3 all these devices working good but they suffering from heat and some crashes and that's fact. for xperia XZ it was the worse experience for me, the device is lagging and suffering all the time. Then I bought S8 and it was the best experience for me beside Z2 and Tab Z3. for the camera, SONY provide powerful hardware but the software analyzing they sucks until XZ2P ..

Ok lets see : - Samsung used rounded display + OLED with 2k resolution 18 months ago while Sony just woke up. - 9+ has 6 GB RAM while XZ3 still 4 GB ( more RAM could give you better performance during next software ). - 9+ has more battery capacity. - 9+ has more storage memory options instead of only 64 GB that what Sony offer.. - 9+ has 3D home button touch and always on display ( which are very useful ). - 9+ already has a very powerful camera. ( so it's a great deal even if XZ3 offer better camera ). - 9+ give you more software features more than any android device. ( don't say that will slow the device, I have S8 since May 2017 and still running very good ). - 9+ will give you more powerful sound than any SONY device. ( I like the front speakers of SONY designs but they are weak ). - 9+ has DeX (desktop experience support). - 9+ has a better finger print reader location than XZ3 has. Only I like the front design of XZ3. Finally I do like SONY as a brand and I'm very into it but the truth can't be hidden.

U all should really try out LGG7, their screen is way better than Sony (it support Dolby Vision)and their speaker is way better than this phone. There r 2 cameras on LG, one of them is wide angle, it is very useful. My opinion is this Sony phone is overpriced. I was a Sony fans before, i bought alot of their products even 2 Sony phones. But after the disappointment i had with their build quality, lousy services and old technology, I pushed myself to try another phone. Thats when i started to use LG phone. The bootloop seems to be fixed on LG phone though.

I think my time critisize sony is over. Design, material, screen and UI and camera were always their weak points. Since XZ2 i have never made attack, now with this phone i have to praise them instead. Modern design beautiful color, premium material, great curvy OLED screen, more polished UI and big improvement in cameras. Why the hell is it so damn heavy? I'd buy it but the weight... Just no. It's almost the same weight as the Note 9, but the Note 9's screen is half an inch bigger! I just don't understand why Sony's phones are always so heavy. And the battery capacity isn't even that big. Come on Sony.

For those who still doesn't know, Sony's xz3 Oled display it's made by Japanise Display, and Panasonic, with injected impression, not evaporation as samsumg (wich is cheaper). First RGB 10 bit rec 2020, the first in it's class. Not these lg poled or amoled 8 bit noticeable lower quality compared to this one, xz3 even has Master sense technology, Triluminos, Xreality and HDR upscaling technology

If it had same dual camera setup in the xz2 premium with ois and at least 4000mah battery..most of the people won't buy it over galaxy s10 except xz3 premium costs less than or equal to 800 Euros..because most of the people like to impress others like ' hey I have galaxy or I have a iPhone'..they don't care about the performance..that's the truth..I know Xperia phones has performance like Samsung galaxy s or note phones sometimes even better..but people hate ugly design of past Xperias with big bessls..new xz3 has the best sony design in my opinion..I hope they will use this design for the premium also..

193g looks like more heavier than 170g in the specs sheet...but in real life usage you won't be able to feel the difference between the 170g and 193g except when you holding two devices at same time with your 2 hands..

I criticized this phone for being too heavy but I didn't realize that the iPhone 8+ is over 200 grams so it is not the worst one out there for excess weight. Still, I would resist buying a phone over 180 grams. I love compactness and look for phones under 170 grams without tablet size dimensions preferably.

Actually I'm a sony user since 2013..currently I'm using Xperia z5..I love sony because it's more durable and fast than Samsung..and I don't like and don't use Chinese brands..but I'm not happy since after sony realising z5..they went wrong way..every company's main objective is earn money..so same goes to the Sony...if they want sell their products they have to listen to the customers and they have to fulfil their requirements..that's my opinion..I'm very happy about Xperia xz3..now Sony has come to the right path..and I think xz3 premium will be the best ever Sony flagship if they introduce premium with this design and oled display with more ram,more internal storage,dual camera with ois and bigger battery..also I want to buy a new Xperia..so will be wait until premium and if it includes that features I mentioned no matter how costs it I will definitely buy it..

Not exactly..but in some ways..specially in design..I love s8,s9 design..and now Xperia xz3 looks beautiful and like a 2018 device...but still Sony can't compete with Samsung because of lack of some hardware features and high price close to Samsung..xz2 definitely lack of some key features like ois,optical zoom,oled display,3.5mm jack and xz2 was far behind when it's come to design comparing with s9..finally Sony has introduced a beautiful new design and oled display with Xperia xz3..now they have to add ois,optical zoom and little bit bigger battery and olso reduce the price at least 100 euros..then sony will survive in 2019..

wht will u do now? LOL. sony finally uses OLED. Lg's/Korean's OLED. Sony also uses rounder corners in its user interface. And the front now looks like galaxy S8. If u say this latest design is gorgeous, it means u also admit that samsung's design is also gorgeous.

Ok, I don't want to burst your bubble, but wtf man? It's almost 2019 and you're asking for ancient outdated technology like IR and analog radio??! By the way, it HAS NFC. Everything nowadays has wifi, so asking for IR is just dumb. Go buy new products and quit whining. Low ram? For the most vanilla Android out there? Not to mention Sony's software optimization is beyond everyone else. The only valid point you have is the 3.5mm jack, but it seems everyone will ditch it in max 2 years, even if we like it or not. Sony has released a GREAT device this time and you have to accept it. And please don't give me those cheap china phones as an example. I like the design but overall the device bring nothing special here.. !! comparing with 6 months old S9+ and still can't compete .. If this device came out last year 2017 maybe people will be more interested into it. Now to purchase S9+ is so much better. And the most annoying thing is the place of fingerprint reader, such a big device need a phone grip but with this reader at the middle it will be annoying for sure.

I own an Xperia XZ2 and I was easily adapted to the position of finger print sensor and it points out my finger right on sensor as any other phone out there now.

4gb of ram is enough to take care of nearly vanilla Android OS. With optimization of OS, 4gb is enough. All those who add up ram, are not doing it for making future proof, but they have preplanned stuff to load up the Android from their side ( which they claim as features ) and are well aware that it would slow down the phone. Hence the add more ram. And people think more ram is better. More RAM is in fact a signal that your Android OS is loaded with OEM s stuff that can slow down the working.

Yep, JOLED (INCJ / Panasonic / Sony / JDI backed) is now a subsidiary of JDI, which is a joint venture of Sony / Toshiba / Hitachi ... basically, the OLED panel in the phone is Sony / Panasonic, and P-OLED in this case likely refers to JOLED's printed OLED technology.
