Actually SONY mobile didn't make Android 9 and Android 10 for Xperia XZs. SONY mobile said they will not release because of long-time performance issues. You can still install Android 9 or Android 10 to your XZs from another source but not official so difficult to find any bugs fix.

Yes, these issues already existed after XZs first released and SONY mobile can't solve that. I still using SONY Xperia XZs and noticed the phone become overheat after so long usage of internet, playing the game and capturing video. That over heat issue already existed in my first SONY Xperia Z and SONY still can't solve it. Very bad for flag ship phone.

This phone overheats whatever task you ask it to do. even if its fast it will screw you up by slowing down till its slower than your average 2012 phone. Turning on hotspot and using it for a few minutes turns itself off and shows a "temperature warning" notification. Bad phone. I am saving up for a new one and this phone basically has $0 worth because its so unusable. I'd buy a 2014 android and it will be better than this (speed wise). when you do get it to work (when you use it in the freezer that is) it is great phone though, great camera, display. The speakers are super weak, CANT hear anything in noisy environment. video calls are also impossible because of overheating, AR mode app also doesn't work because before you complete the tutorial it overheats and shuts the camera off. What a disappointment. If you looking to buy this please save yourself from it and get something more usable. This will be my last sony phone.

Big fail XZS is SD820. XZ release 2016 with SD820,update from Android 6 to Android 8. Why XZS still with SD820?release 2017 with SD820? If XZS has SD821 (upgraded from XZ) maybe now run on Pie.

Hi. It happened to me also. I tried to immerse my XZs in a pail of water for less than 1 minute and some traces of water appeared in camera lens. It took about 2-3 days before it disappear. Anyway, we are still hoping for the release of Android Pie for XZs unit. Any update SONY????

The waterproof feature is not very good. I took my phone kayaking a few times, mostly it was not in the water at all, just the odd splash or occasional roll. The first few times it was ok took some ok pictures, but my older Sony phone took better photos, but then water appeared behind the camera lenses, so now I can not take any photos at all. I am disappointed.

My Xperia XZs also lag and battery consumption problems at Android 7.1. But when i upgraded to Android 8.0 to my Xperia XZs then everything is fine and become a really great phone for me. I think SONY fixed these issues at firmware with Android 8.0.

my xperia xzs lags. it's not buttery smooth at all. when i'm typing, the words don't even show up until after 1 to 3 seconds, and my screens aren't smooth scrolling either. when using the camera, i frequently see the message that the camera might shut down because of overheating. i love my xperia, but sometimes i wonder if i got a bad one.

I do, but ain't as bad as yours. Mine can last for around 8 mins at 30*C and higher, and this is observed across the board for my XPERIA X PERFORMANCE, XPERIA XZ and XPERIA XZs; they performed about the same for how long the camera can last. All of mine are on ANDROID OREO with at least a May Security Patch Update, what's yours on? It's either yours have hardware or software defect, or u installed the June Security Patch Update a month ago which will take a toll in the performance and battery life

My story of using this phone. Bought it 4 months ago and now it doesn't work. 2 or 3 weeks after updating to Android 8 Camera began to fall away. Then everlasting rebooting & rare attempts starting well for about 10 minutes. Services can't repair it. They need to take of a screen and see the board but gives 50/50 they won't go out the screen.

All Sony's cameras (except XZ2) are great only in good light. When light is not enough, Sony's software try to reduce the noise too much, so what you get looks like a painting (oil effect). I have had a Xperia X, and now I'm using a HTC U11, and pictures taken with HTC in low light looks much better.

It was the best phone I have ever used and after using it I don't like any other phone except for ios(as I have never used it). It never hangs and too much easy to use and very comfortable, feels like having speed in our pocket. But recently it falls from the second floor in my hostel and its screen is broken, I went to service center and they told me that they can not repair it instead they will replace it in half of the MRP. I looked for its folder in the market but didn't got any in whole city. So expensive phone and now it is like a box of no use to me. Missing you XZs.

Extremely bad experience... Used it hardly for 10days. Thr was volume problem, was unable to give 4g service, whereas my previous did give 4g service in the same place.. And all of a sudden the socket at charging point was pushed inside, god knows how... I gave to the service station, they said they will charge 13800. It has been a month's time but they haven't repaired it yet..... I hv been a loyal customer of Sony for the past 15-16years and this what I hv faced in return...

If you want good cameras from Xperia, you're only choices are the XZ2 and the XZ2 Compact. If you still get disappointed by these, then move to other brands like Google and yes, Samsung.

U should. In my own experience, even if ANDROID OREO contain more bugs than ANDROID NOUGAT, it is better. The rest of my X series high-end flagships already received the update and i updated it, and I am not expecting any difference from my experience on my daily driver XPERIA XZ. Comparing it to ANDROID NOUGAT, it gives better performance, snappier experience, better battery life. Previously on ANDROID NOUGAT my XPERIA XZ heats up more often than it is now when I do some medium intensive stuff to high intensive stuff like games, now it won't throttle that much like last time. Before updating, just in case, go check if your smartphone is getting ANDROID OREO with December Security Patch or newer. Because if u are the unlucky one, u will get the ANDROID OREO with November Security Patch, which drains a lot of your battery and throttles your CPU more if u were in that update. But, u probably have received 2018 Security Patches instead of 2017 ones already, so u should update to ANDROID OREO, u will probably not regret it

The reason why it captures 960fps at 0.2 seconds which is a short duration is because of the RAM configuration on the IMX400 Motion Eye. 1GB DRAM configured for the ability to do that many frames per second. I hope that they implement like 5GB DRAM on their future high-end flagship camera sensors for much higher frames per second or longer duration

Take Zenfone 4. It is true that XZs not capable to capture low-light scenes. The camera hardware on Zenfone 4 almost like S7. I assure you'll get better camera on Zenfone 4. I don't enjoy much the super slow-motion, very short duration captured.

Hello guys I planned to buy a new phone, which one should I go, xiaomi Mi note 3, sony xperia xzs or zenfone 4 ze554kl? But mostly recommended between xzs or zenfone 4. Average screen on time as of per day is around 6, but do mind that this is on a smartphone with no problems, neither hardware nor software problems. If u get a defect one , it will end up being like the person who replied to your comment, having problems on ANDROID OREO

It can last a day, if u are using it on moderate and not intensively. In my own usage, I started 100% in the morning 6.30am and on my way going to school I listened to music for approximately 30mins, after 30mins it just dropped by 4%, and I make the phone go to sleep for 3 hours. After 3 hours during my free 30mins, I spend it on playing some high graphics game, which made my battery drop by 11%, and then I put it to sleep until 3pm and spend approximately 15mins on games and another 15mins on music, ended up with 69% (I ain't joking), and put into sleep (again) for another few more hours till 5.30pm, and I took another 30mins this time to play games on the bus on my way home. By the time I reached home which is at 6 something, the battery is at borderline 48%, and finally I put my XPERIA XZs to charge

I've just got the Oreo update and it obliterated my phone. The last Nougat version was fantastic, bow I am having awful headphone audio, a narrower range of frequencies, GPS drops, lag, it's an utter disaster. And I've actually done the full wipe after the update together with formatting the SD card. Now the XZ2 doesn't have an audio jack and I have no idea which phone to go for after this disaster.

For 370 bucks, it is worth it I'd say if you like sony. If you want to save more bucks, buy Xperia XZ instead. It is cheaper and basically same as XZs. If you want a good camera, stay away from sony phones at all cost.

It happens with every phone. With time it will get a little loose but don't worry, it won't cause any problem. I have galaxy S8(10 months old), and my brother uses xz premium(9 months old) and both device's port has got loose.

The price will probably go down when the newer ones got released. Regarding performance, maybe u consider the XPERIA XZ PREMIUM or XPERIA XZ1? Both sport a SNAPDRAGON 835 which is one of the fastest smartphone processor around. If u are into playing games for long periods of time, I suggest XPERIA XZ PREMIUM can hold a little longer because of its bigger battery than the XPERIA XZ1

.yes, it happened to my phone's Type-C port and it is a bit disappointing compare to my old Galaxy S5's micro-USB port (still intact than my XZs' port). That is why I opted to use a magnetic charge/sync cable in order to keep the integrity of the port for a bit longer. I only remove the magnetic dongle when I have to use a OTG storage device.

just 1 feature to buy this phone.. 960fps super slow motion... even if its a split second. those 0.2s of slow-mo will will be the wow feature of the phone. Captured at the right moments, people will go WOW. Not even the Samsungs or Iphones can compete directly with this. they have some slow... but not this super slow... Auto camera mode, audio, screen, etc all works well enough for 99% of users. only the 1% Pro-users will be complaining. design is a eye-of-the-beholder thing. i like the bezels cos it gives a more substantial feel when holding it in the hand. gives me spaces to hold the phone by finger on its face rather than by the edges. it looks fine but more importantly and feels solid in the hand (not fragile)

Even professional photographers do point and shoot when they use phone camera. You don't always have 3 minutes to take a picture. P.S.I have XZ and XZ premium and their pictures don't improve much in manual mode. Their pictures even struggle to compete with galaxy note 4.

My Xperia XZs just updated to built number 41.3.A.2.58, but the sound quality still worse. Especially for listen acoustic music. The sound still not clear, frequency respond to narrow, bass is not soft, treble also not clear like has distortion. Sound of Nougat much better.

The only time that you actually do a full wipe/reset is when doing a "Major" Firmware Upgrade from Android 6.0 -> Android 7.1.2 -> Android 8.0 to prevent bugs/etc. "Minor" Updates like Security Patches/Optimizations are usually dont need to Full Wipe/Reset unless needed.

U will have to wait for the update, since it is rolled out region by region, asia will probably take the longest time to receive the update. And it is based on your carrier too, they may not roll out the update. I already received mine on my international variant of XPERIA XZs

I don't need to watch youtube camera comparisons because I have both phones and in taking pictures, S8 is clear winner. To be honest, here is not even a match between these two. Xzs pictures are so grainy and the situation gets worse in indoor shots and in low light. The pictures shot by my old galaxy S4 and note 4 are better than those taken by XZs. Sony really need to improve their cameras for real and drop gimmicks like super slomo or 3d scan sh*t. No one really use these features. The camera and heating issues are the main archilles heel of sony. The bad camera really drag down the user experience of the otherwise good XZs.

1 week owner here upgraded from z1 compact, great phone with improved faster camera than the older xperia models. Only the ringing volume not loud enough at noisy places if the phone inside your pocket but with vibrations alert so no problem. Initially want to buy the xz1 compact but xzs got cheaper price and bigger 64gb storage, bigger abit but ok to use by one hand, better than the samsung phone which fix the back button at the right hand side, no chance of reach the back button with left hand thumb.

I have an LG V20 and Xperia XZs at same time and I can say LG V20 has slightly better photos in low-light conditions. And I really disappointed on low-light with my Xperia XZs, very bad and too much noise but the daylight photos is pretty average and I notice some softness on corner. So LG V20 has better camera than Xperia XZs but I'm still used XZs as my daily driver, I don't like bigger phones and I like the smoothness on my XZs.

Not every dual camera smartphones do better than single camera smartphones. Yes, there are dual cameras, but the 2nd camera is for wide angle lens/monochrome/telephoto and also better bokeh effect, the rest nothing new. I would say the XPERIA XZs can take slightly better photos than LG V20 for daylight photos, but for low-light I am not sure, I have the XPERIA XZs, but not the LG V20, so I cannot compare between both smartphones in low-light. But I am definitely sure XPERIA XZS do better in daylight photos than LG V20. Oh yeah, also for the XPERIA XZs there is IP68 rating, so that is a plus

I purchased my first Sony, an Xperia Z5, about eight months ago. I like the screen, imaging is fine and I love the dedicated shutter button. The shape, size and weight of the phone work for me and I really like having two SIM cards AND a dedicated slot for the micro SD card. Performance is fine with no real lag, I don't play heavy games on the phone, and signal strength is usually good. Unfortunately hardware issues let the phone down. The power button failed and was replaced but is on the way out again. It also suffers from screen blackout when making calls which means that I have to repeatedly press on the power button to try to get the screen active again to stop calls. The blackout happens if there is even a little smear of body oil in front of the proximity sensor and many complain that it also happens when using a screen protector. The latest software doesn't allow calibration of the sensor and other apps for this don't seem to help. I have used many other phone brands without ever having an issue with the proximity sensor. I searched online and found that these issues affect Xperias back to the Z1 and they also affect all of the newer phones. Sony is aware of problems but they haven't fixed them. I would have likely bought the XZ, or the Ultra, for the better camera but my frustration with the Z5 forced me to move to another brand.

The S7 is still selling normally for upwards of 400 dollars after more than one year. Most other smartphones have their prices dropto half of their initial prices in just a few months after release. The XZ has already been phased out after just 6 months. Specs-wise, the S7 is future-proof upon release. 4GB RAM, QHD resolution, 3000mAh battery, UFS2.0 are currently still the flagship standard. The S8, which is the best and most advanced smartphone right now, is just a very minor improvement over the S7. Camera is virtually the same. Screen resolution/pixel density are similar. RAM is the same. Internal storage speeds are comparable. The S7 is essentially a 2017 flagship-grade smartphone. No one cares about speed tests because the 0.0001 second difference doesn't matter at all. I actually prefer delayed app loading with beautiful animations.

Yes. S7 is future proof. It has the same processing power as the LG G6 SD821 which is more powerful than XZs' SD820. RAM is the same speed and capacity as the S8 and most other 2017 flagships. Internal storage technology is even better than some of the phones released this year like OnePlus 5. Camera is class-leading only rivaled by the iPhone 7, Pixel and S8. Battery life is still unmatched by other flagships except the S8. Software is more advanced than stock Android and every other Android OEM skins. Samsung could've released the S7 this year instead of the S8 and they'd still be ahead of the competition. XZs is outdated for a 2017 flagship, the XZ even moreso. They should've been released two years ago.

Average users only care for day to day performance, and saying of day to day performance, I thought of my previous smartphone GALAXY S6. The TouchWiz UI, after 2 months, I started to notice some lag and if I make a comparison to my current XPERIA XZ, there is no lag at all in the XPERIA XZ. My friend is using the GALAXY S7 EDGE EXYNOS variant and when I asked him about performance he said the smartphone lag when playing when playing Mobile Legends, Modern Combat 5. I never notice any lag for mine in any game, only when it is low battery it will disable the 2 higher clocked cores thats why it kind of lag. Batteey life is based on how often u use, no doubt it can be good at battery life since EXYNOS chipsets are efficient

Snapdragon 820 is inferior to Exynos 8890. There's a Snapdragon S7 variant and it's a worse performer and has worse battery life than the Exynos S7 variant. The S7 outclasses XZs in everything: camera, screen, battery life, audio quality, multitasking, graphics and even performance. The S7 is blazing fast with animations set to 0.5x. Using since 15 July.it was a sudden purchase because my HTC M8 eye stopped working properly due to water damage so I quickly make decision to purchase XZ due to budget constraints, wanted galaxy S8 but that was too costly approx 58k same with XZp. But i cant find XZ new make, all was make date of sep 2016 at about 38K,so I bought XZs at 44k. I thought this will be a average smartphone because of 1 year old processor but that's not it's a super smartphone, battery backup is amazing, display is amazing, browsing is very fast and I think this one have a special feature which I can't mention because I don't have any word for that but I will advice to get one and shoot some clouds in moon light or freez some flying butterfly you will understand what I'm saying.

Seriously...why are u guys quarreling over whether XPERIA Z5 overheats? Because from my own experience, it did overheat, Anonymous have a point there. SNAPDRAGON 810 is definitely notorious for overheating smartphones with that chipset, even if there is some cooling pipes done in the inside. The only fix to that is ANDROID 7.0, which helps to improve the performance and not overheat that much too. In conclusion, XPERIA Z5 can overheat too like the XPERIA Z3+, but not as hot as XPERIA Z3+, since they already knew the situation that time and they still want to use that chipset since SNAPDRAGON 820 is still not out yet, thats why they made better cooling. But the cooling helps only a bit of the chipset, since what do u expect, QUALCOMM made this kind of faulty chipset that time so any "major cooling" options don't even help that much

Wrong. Not every brand overheated with Snapdragon 810. LG, Moto etc were able to throttle down the cpu and avoided the overheating problems of Sony. Sony lacked the R&D to avoid this problem. Samsung just avoided this chip altogether.

First of all. If you're gonna use the fingerprint sensor on the phone. Don't use the case that has integrated ring. Cause the way it is position is where the center of gravity or C.O.G so that the phone is balanced when holding it vertically. You need to buy a ring that can be stick on the back of the phone. This way. you can adjust where to stick the ring so that the fingers would reach the fingerprint sensor. Second, Depending whether you use the phone on left or right hand. You should register your middle finger. So that if the index finger wouldn't reach. The middle finger would. And third. You should do a finger exercise. If the index or the middle is still useless. Try using the ring or the pinky finger as the last option.

Every snapdragon 810 powered phone will overheat. It isn't Sony's fault but qualcomm's. Also don't forget about note 7 exploding. Yes I've used Asus, HTC, ZTE and some others. HTC is smooth but not as smooth as Sony. Google phones are smooth too.

Why the speakers only?! Try to think a screen to body size whose ratio is atleast 80%! Of course the XA1 is almost near as a bezzel-less. But I would also implement the top and bottom bezzels. This is what I think about. Try imagining this on the z5 premium. Edge front facing speakers on top and bottom. The logo of sony is located near the FFS. The FFC is placed on top right of the phone. Ambient light sensor on the top left of the phone. Pulse notification at the bottom where the ambient light sensor is located. Then increase the size of the screen by 0.3. Which would give it a 5.8 inch display with 4k resolution.

FYI bezelless have it weakness. - drop damage easier, unless it has the top material in used. - one hand operate thumb is no place to rest (thumb must stay hang up) - landscape mode can only hold on the edge (don't you feel tired?) With bezel you can't find big problems like above. If you put on a protector case to protect the bezelless smartphone just like wear a bezel on. Suggest to attach a smartphone straps to get better control of bezelless smartphone, otherwise operate in one hand must be a nightmare.

Actually the manual model on Xperia is easy to use, I set it up with max 20. 7MP + Multi auto focus + Multi metering, everytime I launch the camera it will retain the settings so I can point-and-shoot. I can also turn on Flash synchronise (red eye reductions) enable it for night disable for daylights and change the ISO to fit my taste. The exposure compensate can match with the Flash synchronise to take the personally ideal shot. This is my Xperia Z2 experience.

Nope, Sony software is great, only in lowlight it tend to crank iso, so the shutter speed can be increased to prevent blur from camera shake, thus resulting in noiser image To fix this, OIS is needed, but seeing that people already bash sony for bezel, I don't think sony had the chance to increase the volume taken by the camera by including OIS

I have this little baby and it is stunning. The display looks like an AMOLED display rather than LCD and it has been done brilliantly. The battery lasts for the entire day, the phone doesnt heat up when playing games and the photoes are amazingm, especially the low light performance. However, the super slow motion camera is not that good and it demands a huge amount of light to get a proper shot. What was the biggest let down for me persoanlly was the audio experience; namely, the output level is low to the point that sometimes I cant hear my phone in the pocket and barely can hear my music while I'm roaming around the apartment. Headphone output as well, the lowest I have ever heard on any phone. Hopefully they will patch this up in some software update.

My solution for the internal storage with my Xperia Z2 are: - do not download the apps don't use, actually the Xperia apps is awesome, so I save a lot of space. - uninstall the updates (Not clearing the data but just uninstall the this update only) for Google plus, that's all. When i wrote, nightmare, i wrote about the structure of the system, and some idiot restrictions. My wife has a Samsung J5, it is working 0-24 stable, i admit it(W10M can in the most unexpected time restart...). I can simply not understand, it is Marshmellow, but was Lollipop pre-installed. It has only 8 GB space, i bought an SD card to expand it. Everything is relocated to the card, i could not install the apps to the card, so i have upgraded the system, because i have red, that the MM will let us install the apps to the card. Of course not at Samsung..... She isusing only tumblr, here maps(with 500 MB offline map), and Viber. The phone was allways crying because of the lack of space. Every photos, music, etc have been moved to the card. It isfrustrating.

I like the W10M Platform, and they are making everything easier in hardware line(i mean, they check its IMEI, and you can left your phone every rapair station worldwide, regardless the original buying country. If I'm not mistaken, the chinese android that can give 30s is oppo and vivo, (also Xiaomi i guess) but nonetheless it's for the light painting feature on the phone, which rarely used since the phone need a stable base to utilize the long 30s shutter speed, and this is a phone people will not put on tripod and shot light trail, Regarding window phone, to me window phone is amazing, advanced software and hardware support, (read lumia 1020) and 4s is long enough in a smartphone, Sad, app support being the downfall of window phone, maybe surface can flip the table

Your observations about lack of bezels are under reported. Yes, the Edge type phones make for a fragile device that is difficult to hold in use without sending unwanted commands to the device. It can make taking a picture or video difficult as well and putting it in a frame or other tripod mount difficult. Your friend must've gotten a lemon. I have a S7 for 6 months now. I've installed more than a hundred apps and updated to Nougat and done 2 more security updates since then and never did factory reset ever and my phone is working very well. This phone keeps getting better and better with each update (both system and apps updates) that makes me not consider upgrading to a new phone anytime soon. I'm getting 6 hours SOT and 4 hours 4G browsing time. My phone is fast even with animations set to 1.5x. I've never experienced any major hiccups. The only time my phone gets noticeably slow is when Mid Power Saving Mode is enabled because processor speed is throttled by 70% in that mode. Your laggy Touchwiz accusations are so 2014.

3GB RAM is enough for phones that do only basic things. They will lag as hell performing several demanding tasks all at the same time, running CPU/graphics intensive apps/games, downloading/exporting large amount of data. The S7 is objectively better than the XZ. Screen, camera, battery life even fast charging/wireless charging, multitasking, gaming plus tons of advanced features are better on the S7. There really is no contest. Most of the S8 apps are even being updated on the S7. The S7 currently has about 95% of the features of the S8. The only thing that's missing on the S7 are hardware-related features such as the iris scanner and not so important ones like the Snapchat-like filters in camera, although I'm hoping that will be brought to the S7 as well in the next updates. The S7 feels very much like a 2017 flagship. The XZ was outdated long before it was even released.

I have first-hand experience of both phones. If you haven't looked into my profile here, I have favorited 2 Sony phones. That was before when I was still choosing what to buy between the S7 and the XZ. I have tested and compared both extensively and found the XZ to be inferior in virtually every aspect to the S7. XZ ain't bad at all. It's just that it's greatly overshadowed and outshined by the S7 if you use and compare both of them personally - from the screen, design, camera, RAM, to battery life and software features. Even the S7 comes with complete accessories in the box and freebies like a wireless charging pad. The XZ being sold in my country doesn't even have earphones included in the box. And it was more expensive than the S7 at the time I was about to buy a phone. So you're basically paying for the phone itself that doesn't even have the latest specs and nothing else at all. It's just so not worth it.

Samsung's Internet browser, Music player, Gallery, Samsung Pay, Samsung Health are all superior to Chrome, Play Music, Photos, Android Pay and Google Fit. Even Samsung's clock, memo, voice recorder apps are better and has more features and nicer interface than Google ones. Those Google apps and the Microsoft office apps which come preinstalled with Samsung phones are what I call bloatwares. I never use them apart from Gmail and Maps. At least Samsung Galaxy phones don't come with utter useless apps like Amazon app. Samsung invests big time both in hardware and software development. Unlike certain others, they don't rely on Google or some 3rd party developers to provide their smartphones with core services and functionalities.

Sony phones have ugly almost non-existent animations that's why they seem faster. Samsung Galaxies have sophisticated longer animations by default that's why it takes time opening apps. But that can be reduced or even turned off in the settings. XZs killed nothing. S8 runs circles over it. Even the one-year old S7 is better than the XZs.

The experience one gets in using these features in a Galaxy phone is so seamless that it feels like using an advanced version of Android. Having the option to control the intensity of the torch directly in the quick settings panel with just a long press same for blue light filter is a function, not a bloatware. Having the option to login to your account in any site in the browser using only your fingerprint is a function, not a bloatware. Having the option to reduce the screen resolution for better gaming/battery performance is a function, not a bloatware. Having the option to hide and lock your personal/private data is a function, not a bloatware. Having the option to resize the display for one-handed use is a function, not a bloatware. Having the option to organize all your games in one app and control certain phone behaviour while playing games is a function, not a bloatware. The quick settings panel, the battery saving modes, the multiwindow feature, the popup window, the copy/paste with plugin for dictionary apps, so on and so forth, plus all the others that are still not present on stock Android like Knox security, Private mode, secure folder, Game Launcher, screencap with scroll feature, options to save/view popup video from the browser, volume normalization, one-handed mode, interactive Always-On-Display, plus more features that are too many to mention. Go watch speed video comparisons on youtube. Google Pixel is the slowest to boot and slowest to open apps among the likes of S7/S8, G6, P10 and iPhone 7 yet it is one of the most lauded smartphones of 2016. Speed doesn't matter. People care about features, fluidity, camera, battery life far more than they care about speed. All of these phones are fast. A split to one second difference in their speed doesn't matter anymore. But having a lot more features than what stock Android offers, a great camera, excellent screen and long battery life make a whole lot of difference.

Alright, so you don't care about speed tests since your Sammy phones perform poorly in them. Between the XZs and the S8, it was more than a split second difference. You're contradicting yourself here. In your previous comment you told speed tests are useless and you don't care about split second differences. But since S8 was marginally faster than the XZs in loading games, you're using that in your argument. And Sony's software being close to stock Android is a good thing. I have yet to see a S8 that has a red tinted display. That case is so rare. Like I said before the S7 edge had a more widespread serious issue but it affected only a small percentage of actual retail units. Even in video reviews and comparisons in youtube, I've yet to see a red tinted S8. That is such a non-issue. There will always be a small percentage of units in any phones that will have imperfections. Not all of them have issues. The great thing about Samsung is that they replace your unit right away if yours happens to have certain flaws. Even they replace your battery for free before your warranty ends. Samsung have excellent customer service. Can't say the same about companies.

Sorry, I don't see anything revolutionary about the S8 that justifies it's high price tag. The almost bezel less design is amazing, but still doesn't justify the price tag. If you look into my profile here you will see I've got 2 Sony phones in my favorite devices. I was even considering buying the Xperia XZ. I was choosing between it and the S7. Fortunately, the XZ was pricier at the time than the S7 so I decided to go for the latter. And I was lucky I made the right choice. S7 is miles better than the XZ. I won't even be needing to upgrade to the latest phone soon as the S7 feels so current. It's still better than most phones released so far this year - P10, G6, XZs.

No, not even battery life. Seriously misconceiving stuff...thiss here test results. All that really counts on a phone is Screen on Time on certain brighness level.... cause it levels up standbytime, system battery usage and screen usage while phone active.... Nobody I know uses a phone to watch 10 hr of video straight, or continually surfs the web for 10 hr, or talks for some 25 hr... . SoT is best merit of day by day usage pattern, inbetween needing to recharge your phone. My phone got lousy 61hr in test here, at 200 nits. Yet It achieves at same nits 7-8 hr SoT every day before need to recharge. While inactive, loses only 1% in 7 hr inactive overnight. Thats indeed great batterylife. While some other phones that got great video, web, talk endurance here, actually waste too much percents while on standby, so even if having for ex 90 hr on test, have only about 7 hr SoT max on 200 nits. Have read an article about S8+ with 3500mah (88hr end) achieving max 7hr20min of SoT, and only after medium adjustments, deactivating apps, etc. It could do more with extreme adjustments I guess. While I got even more from my phone with medium adjustment , max 8hr40min SoT from 2700mah(61hr end). So all in all, I seem to have to recharge my 61hr phone less often than those having 88hr.

My friends S7 edge is dying. It cant even perform well. The camera is also a joke. So noisy and color accuracy is a joke. It lags everytime even when swiping. My friends s4 and s5, total trash. I had tons of pictures by my sisters galaxy s7edge, colors? Terrible, exposure balance?always over, there is plenty of noise in the shades... Compared it to my Xperia x photos, anybody who has a little bit of how should a camera be he will directly know that the camera of the s7 is not even a camera, believe it or not, if there is something good with the Galaxy camera it is just because they are using a good sony camera sensor, but unfortunately they don't know how to control it. Its the same speed tests... open apps, reopen apps. Dont know what they added into XZs, but heck, obviously its not just new camera and 1 gb ram more. Seems Hynix inside Xperia does better job at memory modules than Samsung in its own also, as their Emmc5 memory is as fast as Sammys ufs 2.1 at read speeds.

XZ was slower than most 2016 flagships, as shown in Techradar's speed test. They do speed tests just like how PhoneBuff does. Those type of speed tests are better and makes more sense than the usual speed tests which tech trinkets, phone battles do. XZ Premium should be as fast (or faster) as the S8/iPhone 7, since it has the 835 and UFS memory.

Coming from a compact, I think Prem will be too big for you, as it was for me. Get this if you can, I dont think you ll feel much difference due to only sd820, heck this phone is faster overall in daily usage than iph7 plus even, and graphic performance is top in benchmarks. Z4 and z5 have faster memory than z2/z3, also flapless usb Speakers have different levels of loudness. And quality was improved. Lets see others... LG : G3 has issues, motherboard.. Screen goes black. It happens because of heat. G4 has burn in and bootloop. Same for v10 and G5. Samsung: s7 is a s6 plus micro sd and waterproofing. Edge screen is useless, it is just cool. So... If you see, no OEM has been doing different lately I'd rather see a smaller phone 16:9 than a big screen 2:1. I do not want almost 20% of screen to go black when I watch videos.

Camera stills are finally without noise and full of detail, mostly. Finally something better than oneplus3 in stills. 4K is not sharper than in oneplus but sharp stills and Vivid Colors make up for that. Camera stills are finally without noise and full of detail, mostly. Finally something better than oneplus3 in stills. 4K is not sharper than in oneplus but sharp stills and Vivid Colors make up for that. I think the placement of fingerprint scanner in xperia is their one of a lot unique feature they have (not like the other branded phone (like LG, SAMSUNG, HTC, HUAWEI, ONEPLUS, etc) put their fingerprint scanner on-rear-mounted or front-mounted body (even a chinese smartphone in their mid-range or their flagship HH put a same way as the top-branded smartphone). I really dont choose a phone based on ocassional multitask reloads. It doesnt bother me at all. It does load apps fast too. What I can say now is that X Perform now boots up really really fast, like in 30 sec or so. Xperia smart cleaner is a battery eater, so now I have it turned off, letting dose do the work, using only stamina for perform setting, getting 6 to 8 hr screen on time now, about 10hr video time. No extra heating up at all while using camera or gaming. I really dont see a single bad thing on this device. Only complaints: no FM radio, and speakers being so loud that on max it starts to vibrate on the back. Its indeed XZ level now, for 420€ euro only. And it was at first market specific only, now sells everywhere. Guess thats why it wasnt marketed as much.

I wont say all the revs were biased because I saw some videos & multitasking on this phone was bad compared to other phones like s7, iphone etc. Apps woud relaunch instead of just reloading on screen from memory. Marshmallow was not implemented properly on it. With nougat this problem is solved I guess. Just bought and been using X Performance for 2 days now. One word. Superb device. Cant believe how bias revs are. First had to install 8 automatic updates, along with nougat too. That 8 updates in 8 months time since released.... kudos to Sony. Batterylife 5 to 7 hr SoT. Indeed all day heavy use for me. And no fear of battery degradation. Sound and volume superb. Really dont know how these revs conclude its too low. Tho back vibrates when speakers on high volume tho. And no radio tho. Headphone sound. I really cant stress how good a difference that automatic headset adapt and dsee hx make., even onn the cheapest Sony headphones I got with it...and its louuud. Camera. Both excellent, both having stead+iam stabilisation now. Main cam all the goodies of XZs. Here and there having lens flare problems. No overheating at all. Recorded 4k over open camera app. Manual does indeed do wonders in low light. Gaming performance along with stereo front sound.... Unmatched. Indeed cant stress how good this device is. Only when you indeed start using these devices you notice how revs are full of cr*p

Its a good phone with preety decent design. 424ppi is fine for me since I don't have Super natural Eyes. Have a pair of front firing speakers which aren't that loud But they sound amazing. And since its a 1080p display with 4 gigs of ram the performance will be good for sure.I do find the camera on this slightly a gimmick and would have loved it if it simply would have made it for better low light clicking with good details and less noise. So overall the only cons are 1.speakers Won't be that Loud 2. Camera might be a bit noisy as usual or might lack details. The rest suits very well for what a flagship smartphone should be like.

Probably not. The Xperia XZs is packing a Snapdragon 820 instead of a Snapdragon 821. The Snapdragon 821 is clocked at a higher speed for the upper cores, hence the G6 may be faster. But Sony have very good optimization, so maybe it can be faster than the LG G6

It does have a slightly larger battery than its predecessors in the same form factor. Do a comparison on gsmarena of the x performance pro, the xz and the Xzs and you will find they're basically the same phone. The camera, battery and quick harder 3 being iterative improvements. I doubt an increase of 3gb to 4gb ram will make much difference to the 820's performance but I do wonder how the android 7 to 7.1 improves on the Android 6 battery usage, especially with doze.

We've seen best in class battery life on the Z2 and Z3 series where the endurance ratings ranged from 85 hours to 105 hours. For some reason they abandoned their focus on this feature with the Z5 phones and beyond. I'd like to see these new phones with much higher endurance ratings. 60-70 hours doesn't cut it. I think including the 835 SoC in this phone could have helped with that.

I know, right, it's a trend. But as a long time Sony user, I see them compromising on the features that made their phones distinct from others, just to get into the hyped-features-race-game. Well to answer my own question, I've now had it confirmed that the XZs will not be released in the UK, or Europe for that matter. I sent an email to a uk based online retailer asking for availability details, they responded saying that they had been provided information by Sony Mobile stating there were no plans as yet for a release in this region, and that as of now only the XZ Premium and the XA1 are confirmed as coming to the UK. As someone who liked the idea of having an XZ with an improved camera (as I'm not happy with it on the standard XZ) I must say I'm disappointed a little.

For instance, I can find nothing to say it's going to be released in the U.K. Both the Carphone Warehouse and Sony own U.K. Mobile site only list pre-registration pages for the XZP and XA1, neither make any mention of the XZS anywhere. Old processor, Not entirely true. I would have like a snap 821 but 820/821 is the latest generation. Small battery. On par with the Z3 which was the ref at the time (2 1/2 years ago and still close to recent flagship) so battery should be fine for at least 48 hours but wait for test first.

You forgot to say that your beautiful Snapdragon 820 after 10 minutes is hot enough you can boil eggs with ham on your phone. Also a 2900 battery means charging each day on high usage twice a day. USB 2.0 is not that bad but you are correct it should have usb-c type. No Leica camera like in huawei top mobile and i guarantee you a side mounted fingerprint sensor will be biggest mistake in this phone. Also the price will be problem. Like everything from sony cost 50% more because of Sony. Simmilar to apple. Same phone with same specs from oneplus company for example would cost maybe 300 eur. This will reach maybe 700 or more as brand new. Rest look fine.

I personally think that 1080p is still good for a screen this size. Plus it won't tax the processor and the battery as hard as a 4K screen or 1440p would. I'd rather take the extra headroom i can get from the processor. I do the same thing on my desktop. 27in 4K but i scale it back to 1440p for the extra thermal and power draw headroom i can get from my 980Ti. Still looks great imo

This phone is very similar to Sony Xperia XZ, but that's not a bad thing, XZ being a great phone. To start. it has a beautiful side-bezelless design with a great 5.2" IPS Triluminos FullHD display with X-Reality Engine image and video enhancer, Android Nougat, the classic Snapdragon 820 beast(not 835 because Samsung grabbed all of them till may) with 32 storage and 4GB RAM(XZ has 3GB), a new 19MP OIS(we were waiting for ages for OIS, a round of clapps to Sony) with phase+laser autofocus 1/2.3"(probably with the new 1GB of RAM stacked in sensor design, the first kind in the world, which can capture incredible 720p@960fps slow-motion video, the best on market) and a great selfie camera 13MP autofocus 1/3"(the main camera on Motorola Moto Z), Hi-res DAC 24-bit/192kHz with great stereo speakers. The single con would be the old microUSB v2.0 instead of USB-C(what an irony,XZ has USB-C. It would have been too much to ask for a perfect phone, Sony? it costs that much to skip it on a phone this good?). All in all a great value flaship which will be against Samsung Galaxy S7, Oneplus 3/3T, HTC 10, LG G6. I recommend it instead of the competition for its better cameras.
