Using it for 3 years, until end of the year of 2018. I realize The phone's OS (im currently using Android 4.3) is not compatible with nowadays apps. Oh yeah, instagram kept me shutting down phone. I even need to find older version of the app just to use it, if I use the latest one, it lag or cannot be opened.

I've been using this flagship phone for over 5 years now. This phone was my parents gift. I've used it for intensive gaming in the first year. Then be it watching or recording videos, taking selfies or pictures, listening to music etc, this phone has been by my side like a true buddy. I will replace this with a new phone next year but will still keep on using this one. By now: It's not water resistant, discharges quickly, lags a little bit, internal speakers do not function when on calls so I can't hear anything at times. BUT, THIS PHONE HAS SERVED ME WELLLL!!

4 and a half years now, momey definitely well spent. It's having issues lately - it's powering on and off, and restarting. I hope it's fixable because I don't want to get another phone, this one has saved me a lot of money and troubles.

there is a bug in the device where some times battery indicator is showing less than real charge so it looks like the battery is dying. if you try to switch off - on again the percentage jumps back to normal I do this app. bi-weekly , checking the hidden test menu shows nothing wrong with battery updated to 4.3 still appearing but less frequently. I don't know if there is other factors for this phenomena

I miss this design. The latest xz2 is so fat. Sony always went weird when innovating. X performance is fat, but i like the 5inch. Xzs to xz1 increases the forehead but reduce the battery to 2700. Small battery in 5.2inch phone? Not acceptable. The only good phone now is xz1 compact. That's true compact. Xz2c is xz2 fat. Looks like L series with cheap plastic.

I got this for $50 used! This is 5years old and it still has better specs than a brand new budget phone. Flash an Android7+ rom on it and it runs perfectly. Its even smaller than most phones today but with a large and sharp 5inch 1080p screen.

still works after 3 years of use, the phone cover is scrathed everywhere but phone is fine only little bit dusty flaps and mistake on gsmarena page is that it only supports up to 64gb micro sd, thats not true since xperia z also has micro sd xc standart and theoretically sd xc standart supports up to 2tb of storage, also im using sandisk's micro sd xc 200gb in this phone and it works fine my other phone xperia z2 has sandisk micro sd xc 256gb in it and also works fine....

Sony is best company in update sinze z / x / xz area. as they are not android one project , So they are best as Pixel are ... they just get them faster . LG is good and xiaomi both good are security patches. Moto was ok . Nokia is Superb in Mid-range and many other companies . Samsung With much sell is ok. All companies should give 3 year Security Patches to high range phone and two years for mid-range budget ones

I had the Xperia Z for a couple of years. The phone was crap. The water proof seal started to brake of after a couple of months. I don't recommend Sony. I also have the Xperia z2 tablet which also has had problems. I had it replaced 3 times for the same problem. So saying again I don't recommend Sony. I feel sony seems to be going downhill.

Hi, This is generic feedback about Sony Xperia series. The battery for phones around Rs15000 is 3000MAH,but for Sony phones it is very less. It seems Sony Xperia manufacturer don't want to sell their products. Just a small things which can be seen by a 12th pass but it is not visible to Sony management. Second thing price ,the phone is costlier with almost same specifications of other phones.

Using this phone almost 4 years. Now using LineageOS on it, totally satisfied with every thing except the battery. How can I check the real capacity of the battery? I followed many instructions and installed many apps to figure out the actual capacity but they didn't help me. Any suggestion? How hard it is to change the battery by myself? I used the set very roughly,it dropped from my hand >100 times but still it is awesome in it's look & function. But the major problem is over heating all the time,even when DATA connection is off! Thanks to developers mine is still running well. Still love this phone, it is running Android 7.1.2 Nougat (Custom ROM). Still my daily driver. It is nowhere near the fastest or greatest, but it gets the job done. It's actually surprising given that it has 4 and half year old specs inside. Decent camera (If you know how to scrape a good photo; obviously in the manual mode). There are few complaints like, very low audio output, etc. Still battery life is good. Thanks to Greenify, it still survives for about a day and a half in decent usage. Thanks to the Lineage OS 14.1 and Google it has few bells and whistles like, double tab to awake, double tap on the home button to turn the screen off, one handed usage, split screen, pressing the power button for about 2 sec will turn the flash light on (when screen is off or turn the camera on, when done the same thing while the screen is on) and most importantly Okay Google support (Beta Test).

I was super excited to get a hold of an Xperia Z. I was using an LG Optimus G and loved it, but the deal breaker was no expandable memory. I saw pics of the Xperia and fell in love. Read the specs and was hooked. I sold my Optimus and got a hold of an Xperia as quickly as I could! First off, when I got it, it was still running JB. Hot, laggy and not at all what I was expecting from a Sony. However, right away I was informed of the Lollipop update. At first, it was ok. I wasn't happy with the lack of customization after having ICS, but I could live with it. Then I started having the issues again. Hot, laggy and bad service. My son has it now and is using it like an iPod. The media speaker gave up the ghost and the waterproof seals are gone for both ports. It gets major hot when he runs the simplest of games. I'm getting him something different when finances permit. Overall, really disappointed. Used to be a die hard Sony fan.

: I've had my Xperia Z for over 3 years now without a problem. Never overheats, battery works fine, takes great pictures although I never use the secondary camera. I put in a 64 gig sd card so now I have more than enough storage space. I upgraded from Jelly Bean to Lollipop and didn't really notice any really big changes. I was thinking of getting the Sony Xperia XA1 Ultra cause I like the idea of having a 6" screen, however this phone has no Fingerprint scanner. So I'll stick with my Xperia Z (that I really like) for the time being till one comes along with both 6" screen and fingerprint scanner. I luv Sony's cellphone designs and don't care that they have a bezel. This is now my forth Sony cell phone and I'll never buy any other brand...

It drains fast also, well maybe it is the age of the phone. Also it doesn't block useless numbers and then recently my call ringtone just went off. I read comments of people They mix between battery discharge time or short battery life and problems of draining battery... This phone does not have a good battery life but it doesn't drain or die suddenly . In fact it is normal for a battery to drain very fast after using the phone heavily from 2-3 years. This problem will be solved with a new genuine Sony z 2330 ml battery.

The one problem I do have with it is that I have been having a real problem nuisance caller for the last three years and there is no way to block the number (Iphones can). Apparently I have to download an apt, however , the Apt that I have to go to to begin this process appears to be missing from my Google aps. Nevertheless, for someone my age (69), this is a very easy phone to access and my battery lasts me 4 days because I don't use the internet much. good if don't mind to charge it 2 times a day while using data ,if wifi it's ok , camera is good , sound not that loud , if you drop it without cover case.. it's a problem because back cover is from glass and the lcd not " gorilla " , it overheat fast and shotdown itself while using data . so it's fast ,you'll have about 11GB internal free memory, it's good phone if you're not attached to use it all day in your hand.

Me and my friend brought this phone together. After a year her phone stopped charging. Like it was not even detecting charging port. Did everything with it and nothing worked. She lost all her data. Same happened with me after a month. It was working great and at midnight it denied to charge and after that it was just a piece of plastic. I lost all my data. I Have this for 4 years soon. It works great except battery life. I wanted to buy a Z1 or z2 but they aren't selling anywhere except from some Chinese eBay stores that I don't trust to deliver a brand new phone. I am looking to buy a new phone, I'm leaning towards xperia XZ but it's so damn expensive. 500+ euros including the case and dock from online retailers. The service they offer is bad compared to big stores like amazon, if it breaks you have to rely on Sony subcontractor in my country to fix the phone, and they are even worse than a kid with a screwdriver. On amazon it costs 600+ including accessories but they replace your phone if it's faulty, no ping pong with the crappie service center . Xperia performance on the other hand is 350 + accessories =400 euros. Maybe better but the battery seems weak. I wish Sony would keep creating phones like Z1 z2. They should reboot those phones as z2* or something. I'm sure they will sell like crazy

Was it an used or a new phone? You probably got a defective unit, because all the smartphones I ever owned were Sony. Xperia Z1 is a very well built phone, and I doubt it would have any problems, except overheating, which is common with Sony phones. I currently have an Xperia XZ and it is very good.

We got my little brother a Sony Xperia Z about 2 years ago. It is the worst phone I have ever come across. Its battery will not last longer than 4 hours. We were charging the phone the whole night, because this is how long it took to fully charge it, and then it will last maximum 4 hours. After 2 years of hardly using it today we can't even charge it so we are throwing it away. I don't know if it's just this specific phone that was defective but I can't believe that Sony produced and sold such an awful device. It's software is far from user friendly.

Its been a long way with this phone - 3 years to me, but its still working perfectly fine, nothing broken, looks would be 9/10 has few scratches, cover is completely worn off on the corners but i still keep it, battery holding 2 days for me,because i did charge it 16hours first charge and i do this on everyphone or other device i own - all of them have no battery problems.

Because you fail to provide after sale service to your customer. I just want to know how can any customer remain cool if he is getting problem in his phone again and again after repeatedly going service center. Initially there was not Such kind of any problem in camera but after visited your service center i have started facing problems in camera too. As per your executives this is user end mistake i.e. from my end and i will have to pay for it . Do u really think that customer is very much technical to damage his phone's camera and have ample of time to visit your service center again and again. And at your service center it was being said to me to behave like professionally . At one end you take your customer granted and not able to provide better services, at the other side you expect normal behaviour from your customer. Why should i pay money when my phone is under warranty and over of it , this is not my mistake .i have already clearly mentioned that i started facing this problem after visited your service center. This is my really bad experience of using this phone as well as services that you provide to your customer. I've got mobile as third owner in august 2014. Since then I haven't had any problems with device. I think Sony did a splendid job on this one. I love the phone and it's features display colours, battery life and performance. Sadly on some level in late 2016th 3.5 audio jack slot gone and i replaced this for new unit part on my own. It's started playing audio in clear dynamic sound even on used earphones. As is 2017th I'm finally looking for an upgrade just something little faster. Camera etc. Sony Xperia of course;-) But still will be using my old Xperia Z as it's great phone.

I was unlucky with my device because of the approximity sensor. i had it replaced . Then comes the problem of responding to WiFi . A damaged piece which was replaced too . Two problems in two years. I hope not to face new problems again. I was really disappointed though I very much take care of my phone . I bought a device from another company. Have been using one for the past 2 and half years, and a wonderful phone. Been lucky not to crack the screen. This one's water proofing or whatever capability didn't last long, the covering flip on charging port's side had to be removed, nevertheless, could easily give a bath to the other parts of its body. :D Sony's software support has been wonderful throughout, may be because this was once a flagship phone. Still love this phone, below par from performance wise (compared to 2016/7s phones) obviously, since this has 4 year old technologies under the hood. Nevertheless, usable. So far, the battery is also in a good condition. It could last 1 and half days with decent usage, and phone's camera could take some decent photos. They are not very great, but, this performs well, when it requires its service. I could say I was a happy customer. Thank you SONY for this wonderful product...!!!

I've been using Sony phones for over 10 years now and they really are the best! I'm getting a new phone soon (Xperia Z5). It took me so much time to decide which new phone I'm going to get. I actually wanted to try some other brand like Oneplus but I'm afraid Oneplus isn't as durable as Sony. I need a long lasting phone, so I'm going with Sony again because I know that their build quality is the best. Hopefully Z5 will be as good as Z, maybe even better!

It was advised by sony to update and was explicitly written that my data will not be affected. I do understand the update comes according to region, but not this time, it's just way to long. I've lost hope the update 5.1.1 is ever coming. Hi, you need to have either C6602 or C6603 model of Xperia Z to be able to update to 5.1.1... as far as i know, there is no update for C6606 model, for some reason. Hope that clears problem for you :)

I have Z5 and have to say that did not have worse phone yet :(. During making video system is lagging and until 4mins just stop and only what you can do is shutdown the phone. Also time to time just shutdown from any reason and is impossible to even turn it on just by power button. This device is not reliable at all and is not good even for kids for playing games.

Has a serious problem with the gps. It overheats when ever you use the gps and will not charge and drains in around one hour. I no longer use the gps because it damages the sim reader and your phone can no longer read a sim card. I had the phone replaced under guarantee but the new one has the same problem. Apart from that its a great phone. The battery lasts about a day with normal use and it runs most apps easily. Its durable and has a nice screen.

I have Xperia ZL and i'm quite sure that both Z and ZL has come to an end of their road regarding software support. Sony already did great by giving both phones more than 2 years of support (4.1.2 to 5.1.1) so there probably won't be Marshmallow for 1st gen Z-series phones anymore. Of course, they both could handle Marshmallow for sure as Nexus 7 (2013) showed that having same Snapdragon chipset as Z and ZL. But i don't think Sony bothers anymore.

Have been using this phone since Jan 2014 (2 yrs+) and still going strong. The latest OS update is up to Lollipop 5.1 (from Jellybean 4.1) and it is very smooth. The battery can still last up to 3.5-4 hours of SOT Doesn't overheat easily unless used heavily continuously for 30mins or more. Only complains: 1) The camera is bad at low-light conditions. 2) The phone auto-factory resets if you put in the pocket of tight jeans due to the power button and volume buttons sticks out. 3) The internal speaker is damaged so I have to use loudspeaker for phone calls. Overall rating: 9/10

I've been using it for abt 2 years now and for my opinion, Xperia Z only overheats if you used it too much in hard-core gaming and I think every phone too so its your fault.. A phone cannot just overheat too much at the point that it can iron clothes especially when it is just in your pockets unless you use it too much in hard-core apps and games

The best crap ever! You can even cook food on it, deep fry, boil water in just 2-3 seconds & in any emergency case you can even iron your clothes as well. Its a gas stove, iron, hotplate all in one. But not a phone because if you want to use it. It will take hours long to unlock & it will suddenly reboot & start lagging. Hi c6602 is the same name for sony Xperia Z :) regarding 4g , above both are one and the same, and 4g / LTE is supported , However you need to check with the network service provider that is your city covered in 4g circle and if yes then you would see a H+ sign as your data symbol instead of 3g :)

Hii, I had exactly the same problem and that was because the phone was rooted. also i remember that i had charged the phone(with car phone charger) with google maps turned one while driving almost for 500+ Km during a summer drive , after which the phone kept overheating . it almost died after the software update OTA was relased and the main reasons were Rooted phone and then upgraded version didnt support the hard ware because of which the issue persisted for around 2-3 months and then finally gave up, please check if my problem relates to yours , if yes then the sony authorised repair center are the best people to help as i got mine up and running now and iam happy

Had one of these, ran out of patients and threw it in the bin. Requires propriety software to read internal memory. Software was buggy on my PC - only worked once or twice. Felt more like iTunes than vanilla android unfortunately. Couldn't adjust camera resolution (was stuck low). Camera settings menu on the phone was different to online help :-( Comes with a lots of extra factory software. The covers for the plugs are fiddly and don't stay twisted out of way. They stop the USB lead plugging in all the way.

Hands down the worst phone I have ever owned, I have had to replace it twice. The battery life is sluggish, the camera is slow and the apps crash all the time. My brother who has a newer model has had the actual screen not the glass break for no apparent reason. A flip phone would be a better investment than this phone.

Honestly the xperia Z is awesome and highly durable. I have dropped it soooo many times and not once did it break! The camera is actually very good (both front and back) I'm wondering if the people complaining about it are really using the xperia Z. I upgraded it to lollipop 8 months ago n it works just fine! No dragging! The only draw back is the heating, but it hasn't affected my phone in any way. I will definitely upgrade to a Z4 or something

Awesome phone! I have update to 5.1.1 but returned to 4.4.4 view days after, because Lollipop sucks (many apps doesn't work because of SD card permission). I start playing games at 12:00 until 15:00 with Wi-Fi on and still got 50% of battery after. If you have any battery issue, then your battery is almost dead and you have to replace it. I won't change this phone for another for couple of years, I'm sure of that.

have this phone since it came out, dropped it countless times, it has not broken. i've even threw it on tiles and it hasn't cracked a screen. this phone is a beast!!! i've dropped it in a bucket of water intentionally, yes it still works flawlessy!!! ignore all those trolls saying the screen cracks easily, what a load of bullocks. only con is the battery only goes through a day under heavy usage, but if you make the odd call or two, it'll last two days easily. I have been very disappointed since I bought the sony xperia z. After upgrading the android version, the call dialer does not work well; calls keep disconnecting every time I make a phone call. I also sometimes can't use cellular data on my phone and even when I can, not with all apps. Sometimes the phone just goes off and it also heats up! The camera is also terrible after upgrading; the images are all hazy and taking pictures at night is just a waste because it's like the flash does nothing! I am very disappointed and definitely won't purchase any sony products ever!

Sony waterproof ratings are not as they advertise Sony repair shop is biased and Sony funds them..water intrusion and phone was used within all perimeters of the manual, yet the repair shop reported a port must have been.open and recommend no replacement! Well, for the people who were not lucky, I'm very sorry for them. I have the European (I live in Spain, so I don't know if there's a difference between the European, American, or Chinese version of the XZ): I have this phone since launch date, and my user experience is flawless (2GB RAM, 16 internal, 32 external, 5.1.1 Lollipop, All accessories including the DK-26 dock...) and I have friends who has the latest Samsung smartphones, and trust me, each heavy video game my friend and I installs, runs great on this XZ. It warms a little due to heavy gaming, it happens to almost all Quad Core phones. Live with it. But the Sony Xperia Z saved me tons of cash by not buying another smartphone. 4G, NFC, GPS, all working ok. (Unless you're a fisher and are in need of a very expensive GPS gadget...).

P.S. Oh, I forgot! Problem number 4 - despite data calls being turned off, the phone did made regular daily data calls, really small 15-40k, but I had to change tariff plan, otherwise it was too costly (had a plan with 0 bites included). That had to be some software issue.

In theory it's a good phone, in practice - not so much. But there is a catch, that's not my personal C6603, it's from my workplace and I'm the third user as far as I know, guess there was a reason why the first guy dropped this phone and got another. Problems include (in the order of appearance): 1) GPS receiver is far from perfect, sometimes it works, mostly it doesn't, "GPS test": shown that it does register satellites but fails to get a lock, 2) a couple of times it seized to signal about incoming calls, no sound, no vibration, nothing, only a pop-up window appears, and I'm not the only one with this problem. Had to reset to factory settings twice, then this problem disappeared as suddenly as it started, 3) now I often don't hear people talking to me, while they hear me perfectly well. Restarting the phone helps for a short time, but seems I need to do it several times a day. So in summary - less than 3 years old Xperia Z is a really nice small tablet, with really good camera, big screen with high resolution and quite powerful hardware, unfortunately it all too often fails to serve as a phone. I was really enthusiastic about it being somewhat dust, water and slightly shock proof, as I often ride a bicycle, so I could get a cradle and put this phone on my bike while riding, but if the GPS doesn't function properly, then what's the point in doing so?

Likely our phone has really, really low charge, so it's "brain" has no power to turn on and direct the process of charging, this has happened to me a couple of times too. Basically, plug in charger as usual, leave it for a little while, then press and hold ON/OFF button, which gives an extra "kick" and helps the phone to rise up, usually it helps almost instantly, however some guys went so far as to fix the button pressed with a tape.

Guys don't worry about the over heating issue 3 of us faced the many issues with over heating with Xperia Z At a time 3 of us reset the phone after the lollipop update then its working very well no over heating and if u want u can use the app called cooler master also seriously there are no single issues with the phone all issues with the apps what we are installing but just try by factory reset guys battery draining is also not there after reset

One of the best phones i ever used. The phone was launched with Jelly bean which was upgraded to Kit Kat, then again to Lollipop 5.0.2 and finally to Lollipop 5.1.1. A very good move by SONY. Very few manufacturers offer the updates to it's phones, Samsung is the worst. The Screen, Camera and RAM of Xperia Z are outstanding. Very good waterproofing too, I had washed my phone under tapwater many times. Very happy to use the SONY Xperia Z

DO NOT BUY THIS PHONE. It's really a poorly engineered piece of crap. I've had way too many hardware and software issues that Sony of course refuses to fix. First of all, it's NOT waterproof; whatever you heard, it's a lie, because I followed all of the instructions yet my phone still broke regardless (It worked after a week though). They're actually banned from advertising it's waterproofing in certain countries because this problem occurs so much. Second, it has a tendency to suddenly die and become "bricked" meaning completely damaged beyond repair in some cases. This has happened 2 times for me, the first time I fixed it myself but now it happened again and it's completely dead this time. Sony acknowledged this problem but of course did nothing about it. So I reiterated, stay away from this phone or anything else from Sony because while they can make a good-looking device, the poor engineering and MAJOR issues you will experience won't justify the premium cost.

You gotta understand that the Xperia z has been supported for close to or more than 3 years. And it's definitely longer than what Google promises which is 2 years at least in terms of software os update. For Sony to keep supporting, it'll cost them more money which they have to consider before channelling it to certain phones. You can go online and read more as to why Sony would not upgrade it anymore. If they do, it would be a bonus and I'm happy with the phone as it is. I would say I'm satisfied with Sony and their software updates so far and the Xperia z is still a good phone.

Hmm, Not sure about C series, but 1. Change it if it has warranty 2. Change your sim card 3. Reset your device to factory default 4. Remove SD card to see if problem solve or not. As you explained, I think you have some problem with sockets and they cause your device failure. Check them one by one to find the problem. But using warranty to change the device is best and shortest way

Updated to 5.1.1 same annoying mobile radio battery drain. It affects a good 10% of all lollipop devices and once you switch your data on the phone reacts like it's constantly trying to get signal and you get a 70% battery drain. It's a pity. With google not caring sadly back to 4.4.4 with double the battery life.

But after updating my C6603 into 5.1 I've got : 1.Battery issue didn't fixed yet.Draining so fast.Maximum I can use 5 to 6 hour with mobile internet & in wifi it is 4-5 hour maximum where's in kitkat I could use around 11-13 hour. 2.Ringtone/Music sound didn't fixed yet.In Speaker sound its getting lesser & lesser.So, sound problem didn't fixed yet.Ringtone sound is too low.Kitkat was best in sound.Atleast there was no sound problem in Ringtone. 3.But overall like gaming/multi tasking performance is good. Please solve Battery & Ringtone fast.Otherwise I need to move on from SONY XPERIA!!! Thanks in advance.

The Sony xperia z is a really good and tough smartphone. Ive had this for at least two uears now Because FIRST it is still having the latest ota updates from Google (hope it can make it til Android M) Second is its water resistance and durability Ive had drop this a lot of times and sometimes the screen first but it didnt crack or anything and sometimes i used it on my swimming pool and nothing happens (except for the speaker but in just a few days the sound will come back) THIRD is its design and smooth performance even up till now and the both glass panels are simply gorgeous FOURTH the camera is above average and i used it in some of my shoots in photography and the screen is just sharp and vivid and LASTLY there are cons for it like the battery,viewing angles or the slight overheating but we can all manage it its not a big deal. For those people kept saying that its the worst phone ever or its garbage well your wrong maybe your the worst person that uses smartphones or maybe you truly doesn't deserve sony products. Go For Sony. Make. Believe.

I suggest owner to try rooting the phone with KingRoot software. Very easy, just one click. After that, get rid of bloatware and stop auto-star apps. Your battery will last longer by at least 50-75%. I used to charge everyday, now the Xperia Z can last 2 days.

Con's: -The phone gets really heat up if you use it while charging -The water seals are made of transparent plastic and could scratch. -The power button is very big and the button placement makes it not that easy to use by a lefthanded person. -Cannot remove backplate/battery. -Transparent plastic and glass-like material everywhere. If you buy it on black, every single finger laid on the phone will be seen immediately. I really like the phone despite all the con's and it is perfect for those who desire to buy a phone for multimedia needs. 9/10 from me.

I wouldn't recommend playing intensive games or doing anything intensive during charging. The most is like WhatsApp and casual stuff like messaging or listening with music with the screen off. This is because the phone uses battery faster than it charges. You'll get a notification about it. So just leave your phone by itself to charge and use it when it's full or charged. Or it'll just drain until 1% and shut off

Buddy, this comment of yours is totally based on your personal interest. Maybe isn't the phone's fault, but the owner... I have used the phone for more than a year now and I'm happy with this mobile. My only concern will be the battery, could have been better. And the speaker volume, should have been better. But otherwise, no issue, doesn't hang, gets a bit warm while using it, which is a perfect norm for smartphones. I've dropped it into a small water pocket before, the phone has fell face down more than twice. Apparently, everything is working fine. The gps is good. The screen and camera is not that great, but definitely not bad at all. I'm a happy user of Xperia Z, thanks Sony. Keep rocking...

Pretty much one of the worst experience I have had with a phone. I purchased the two the first the screen cracked from a fall off of a dresser into the ground. The second phone Battery life is minimal, the sound is awful with or without using the speaker. The phone heats up to the point you cannot place it to your ears. I tried the updates and clean sweep and nothing help. Be careful with purchasing such a phone. I needed a two sim phone that was the original reason for the purchase.

I'm surprised by how the technology hasn't made the Z obsolete or old fashioned. My only complaint is the sound level from the internal speaker, not good enough, really. DO NOT think this phone is waterproof people and if you think that taking it back to Sony and expect moderate customer service, think again. It was in shallow water to take a pic, YES all ports closed, no salt water, not in for more than a minute and it fogged up and died. I guess Sony wouldn't do anything about it as then it would prove that they are lying. Apple wouldn't have any issue and would take the phone back or do something to help. That's why I went back to them. They at least will take care of their clients

Today I faced a surprising answer from the Sony services agent because I went with a problem that my phone is not receiving the network signals properly...then agent says that this mobile is non repairable..then I shocked for a moment...and he says that it's an outdated mobile and you need to upgrade with z3 which is also non repairable so my question is that Sony mobile is for one time use only I mean if I get a problem then that should be thrown in to a dustbin...come on Sony this is not fair with the expensive mobiles...I'm a big fan of Sony but hearing this from servicing centre I'm very disappointed...:-(

I loved my Xperia Z1 , until the software update. Since then ( about 3-4 months) I cannot use my phone for anything other than a text message or two. The battery drains completely once it hits 97%, yes 97% !!!!! At fully charged, taking just ONE photo using the camera app the battery completely overheats and drains. The phone then cannot be turned on or off, just get flashing screen. It has to be put on to charge, which is hit and miss as sometimes it will not recognize the charger. The charger port cover also has decided it will no longer close properly ( probably because it lives most of the time open with the dead phone on recharge) therefore making the waterproofing completely useless. As advised by Sony, I completed the PC fix using PC companion....this fixed absolutely nothing, everything is the same as before even though it wiped everything and took the phone back to factory settings. I would not recommend this phone to anyone, in fact I would actively and loudly recommend against wasting any money or time on it. I am upgrading in 4 days, Sony will not be on my list :(

the charging port on the xperia z is not the same shape as the micro usb used to charge it, after only 3 months use the pins have become damaged as you have to try it to see if it fits if it doesn't then you have to put it in the other way round thus damaging the pins its a design fault but sony will not take responsibility for it and ask 47.00 pounds (sterling) to repair it or 22.00 just to send it back unrepaired I will never buy another sony product

I'm using this device from 27 march 2013. Thinking to change any new phone,but don't have any reason to do so.6 month back I faced problem in my ear speaker but it starts working normally on its own,and 2 days back something happens which I can't believe till now,my phone's USB & headphone port cover(waterproof flaps) are not working from last one year due to there wear and tear and white stickers are turned into red.So 2 days back I faced sudden rain in which my phone got wet,water flows inside through USB and headphone space,then water droplets are visible in lenses of front and main camera,USB charging was not working headphone was not supported supported,proximity sensor was always on due to which it was hard to make and receive calls.I thought now it's gone and will need huge amount and some bad days at service centre.But in withing few hours each problem solved on it's own first charging start in two hours, then after one more hour proximity sensor stared to work normally,and then headphone supported,after 7-8 hours water droplets also disappeared from camera lenses. I never thought this device can withstand upto this limit,and also my phone has fallen on marble floor,road but nothing serious happen on body except few scratch and wearing of corners.

I am really sorry about your phone and you are right But Z is water resistant only for 1 meter pressure and as you you said its not enough good to swim with it after 5-6 months and as you said it's kind of advertising Anyway The Xperia Z has IP57 and it can protect your device in 15cm to 1 meter Take q look at this my friend : I hope it helps you in future.

It released about 3-4 month ago. There is 2 way to update your device 1. Use pc and PC COMPANION SOFTWARE 2. Wireless update in your settings In both cases full battery charge and free internal storage are strongly recommended

My Sony Xperia Z phone obtained water damage and is now not functioning. I find this unacceptable as the phone is advertised as waterproof enough for the company to state it is capable of taking underwater video. I understand that all connections must be sealed tightly, which they were, and yet water still got inside my phone and caused damage. After calling the support center I was told that the phone would not be covered for this kind damage under warranty more than a year from purchase . This is very disconcerting due to the fact that the device malfunctioned, not as a result of misuse/ abuse but as it not preforming in the capacity that the company states. Under this logic the phone should really be advertised as waterproof for a year only, being if any water damage is sustained by the phone the company will not take responsibility past one year. This is very upsetting.

To update to Android 5.0.2 for now and next 5.1.0 later there is 2 ways : 1. Use PC and PC COMPANION Software 2. Go to settings, about device, check for updates Then download it and start upgrade with full charge battery For maximum efficiency I recommend you to format your device then and reinstall all apps again again. It's pretty nice 5" multi-touch 4G water resistant built-in battery that can support android 5.1 pretty smooth plus NFC and play station supports and... I know why some people are complain about such pretty device : Thats because they didn't use OFFICIAL ROMs They didn't use good apps They didn't use good sd ram And thats why they are complaining... I CAN CLEARLY SAY THAT: AT THIS PRICE, NOTHING HAS A CHANCE AGAINST THE XPERIA Z. By the way , its possible to change the battery in 1 min easily if necessary .

Is XPERIA Z a bad experience for you too? I bought one XPERIA Z in August 2013 for 499 pounds after 9 months the batteri did not last more then 10 hours. After 14 months the charging slut broke could not recharge with USB cable.Had to use Sony Charging dock after 18 months the mobile charged 100% but as soon as I removed from the dock it turned off, in dock function without problem. I am told the batterie only last 24 months?? And you can not change the batterie?? Now PHONEHOUSE ask for 200 Pounds to repair the phone in the garanty time? Dudes After upgraded to Lollipop, just one thing: battery drains a little bit faster. Perhaps a Stamina app not as efficient? But for all the people who complain with "charges slowly", it's trolling. Same battery charging time, better functionalities. More lags than with KitKat,but never lived any lag with KitKat so not a real problem.

Surprised to see people complain about slow charge and fast battery drain. I only use my phone to make calls. Takes about 2 days before I charge it again. But charging is same as before. No issues there. The only issue is the sound quality. Very low as ringtone and playing music

Please don't go for Lollipop (Android 5.0) with Sony Xperia Z. I have done it and screwed up my phone. Charging is very slow. It takes up to 20-22 hours now. Discharging is very fast. Does not last even half a day. If you switch off your phone and charge it then takes two hours.

Battry drains so fast? I think its tolerable. Now, if your charging status is like 4-5 hours (indicated in the lock screen while charging, try to restart your phone and charge it again. Might help. Mine jumped from 5 hours to just 1:30 minutes before full charge (from 5%>)

I updated my Sony Xperia Z C6603 to Android lollipop 5.0.2 and noticed some good and bad changes. 1. faster response and neat interface. 2. device heating is now minimized. 3. faster charging up to 80% for 30min from empty battery then it will slow the charging process. i completed 80-100% in 1hrs and 45min. 4. video quality is better but draining more battery than before. for those who experiencing bugs, try to update thru PC Companion. If happened to be that you updated over the phone do phone reset and choose erase everything, then re-install all the applications that you want. It solved my hanging problem and some applications malfunctioning.

Dear Sony: Have upgraded my Sony Z to 5.0.2. 1st issue, it keeps on missing and gets stuck on the messaging part, i.e. when typing sms the letters do not show on the writing pad, have to press the power button twice with a short pause and then the keyboard starts giving the response. 2nd issue, when trying to delete the message conversation, you need to press and hold for a short moment which then shows the delete button, after pressing it the "deleting conversation" message appears which is an ongoing process that never stops, unless you press the home button or power button.
