Still using this phone daily. It still works with the original battery and I'm surprised that also the connector covers are still in good condition. There is still an active Android Custom ROM community for this phone on XDA developers. I use a Lollipop ROM which gets security patches every month but there are also stable Android Pie ROMs. Impressive!

After 5 years with Kitkat 4.4.4 I decided to try latest Lollipop 5.1.1 (*.236) . What a big mistake... Everything looks good, but completely no sound! Alarms, music or videos, ringing - nothing comes from the loudspeaker. If somebody has had such issue, I'll be very appreciated to get some experience. I tried system repair in PC Companion, also plug in and out the headset. I tried some application called SoundAbout which fixed such issue on Xperia Z, but nothing solved my issue. Any ideas?

I've been using my Sony z1 compact for 5 years now. I had to replace the battery once. I love its design, build quality and size. However, it's has become slow. I did a factory reset a few months ago, but still slow. (Sometimes even typing lags, Google maps is very slow to start up...) I don't know how that is possible. My girlfriend's Samsung A 3 2016 has considerably lower specs, confirmed by lower benchmarks online, but is running much smoother. I don't know if that is due to her Samsung running a more recent Android version (7, I think, while I'm stuck on 5.5). Would installing Lineage OS make a significant difference performance wise?

mine started to die in the battery about 2months ago, got another online from ebay and was so happy to find it was actually a real sony battery and not a knock off.... jimmied the back off and replaced it ... good as new .. although damaged the back seal beyond repair - just stuffed it back in a case and don't even notice.. LONG LIVE THE Z1 COMPACT KING!

The phone is ok, the battery is ok, but probably not the best because most are really old now. If you can install ROMs, I'd look up the LineageOS ROM by 115sek on XDA, the ROM just got OTA-update support a few days ago. And the battery is not that difficult to replace. I'm normally not someone who repairs phones or stuff like that (even though I have 20 phones lol) but the Z1 Compact battery replacement was even easy enough for me because it was literally 2 screws holding it in place (you'll lose waterproofing though).

Just installed Android 8.1.0 as LineageOS on it. Works wonderfully. Only things missing with this phone might be a good camera and some form of biometric security (fingerprint, face), apart from that, this phone is still sufficient in 2019.

Been using this phone for almost exactly 4 years, but now the battery finally died and I will have to replace it. For 350€ this phone lasted me very long and except for the weak battery it still performed just fine.

Have this phone for over 3 years now. Battery died before warranty was over (before 2 years of use) and was replaced for free in the place i bought it. Battery life is acceptable but phone is becoming kinda slow nowadays. I have to perform a factory reset every 5, 6 months in order to keep it clean and running smoothly. The real downside with this phone is costumer service. At least in Portugal, I couldn't reach a single Sony authorized dealer in order to fix issues or even buy accessories (I had to buy the "original" magnetic charger via a third party vendor in ebay), which is a shame from a supposedly Premium Phone Company. I don't regret buying it, but for the price i paid back in 2015 (315€, in sale), I was expecting a lot more. For today everyday use, forget it, unless it's given to you free of charge.

Hi there, Yes it takes very decent photos when u select manual option. U have to play with it a bit and final result is reliant to lightning conditions and your patience in setting the right numbers. Intelligent auto sucks. It takes images only in 8Mpx and most of the images are overexposed. I'm proud user of my Z1 compact for almost three years. And it's great device even 4 years after it's release. Everything is smooth. Just changed my battery 6 months ago. It's not waterproof anymore and I have to be little patient during the manual mode as mentioned above. But I would buy it even today for a good price. Don't get why Sony stopped their support at Lollipop.

For me, best replacement would be X Compact or much more expensive XZ1 Compact. I am using this phone for full 3 years now. Replaced battery myself 1.5 years ago (ordered from Ebay with water-seal strip for back cover). Never had overheating issues and I always charge it on some cool metal surface (washing machine, PC case etc.) so that battery stays under 30C. Aluminum sturdy frame is a huge plus! Will buy X Compact shortly - faster, little larger screen and much better under sunlight, better battery and Android 8 Oreo support. Z1 Compact will be a great and reliable backup phone.

i had the exact same issue n then i got the battery replaced and still it kept heating up and restarting and then loading apps 1 of 291 , 2 of 291 n so on for endless hours. i gave it to the shop keeper he restored the software multiple times but the issue kept repeating ! The final resolution was to get the software restored by sony which fixed it!!

overheat come if your phone is struggling to manage a lot of app (internet base app ;ole messenger) running on it.. just install greenify + take all messenger app like to hibernate if you not using it for a long time.. by the way, the best software for z1 compact is kitkat, lollipop will draining your battery + make more laggy

Its from FB application. It happened to me now, because I recently created a FB account and install the app... first day or two was OK, then phone restarts and after start up any application I try to open leads to restart, then I uninstalled FB, and was OK, after a few days, I tried again to install FB app and same thing, another continuous restarts / nothing works / uninstall FB -> solved again. Lolipop 5.1.1, internal HDD free about 3 GB. RAM usage: System 750 MB, Apps 290 MB, Free 690 (some approximation here whatever), this is without FB installed. if I install FB... crash..

I had this phone since Mar 2014. I love this phone so much. The screen used to shattered and I had it replaced. The battery also went bad and I got it replaced. I couldn't find a pink coloured smartphone that can replace yet. My only issue now is that, It easily gets hot when charging or using maps/waze. And, my battery easily drains now. Yet, I still love this.not sure if cam support 4g though.

I don't know why but I just fell in love this phone without even having it. Back in the day, I liked it. But today, I saw one and also hold it in my hand (although it was a little scratched up and the screen had little shatter and the back glass was bend and the power flap was loose) but I fell in love with it. It also was the white one with black screen, probably the best color combo ever. Although I think the person itself didn't like it that much because it Hang all the time, but still it feels like this phone is really powerful while being in a small package. But of course never buy mid range phones, those are just crappy. The Xperia M4 Aqua I had was much worse and isn't comparable to this.

Atleast the Z1 Compact has a plastic screen protector on it which is removable if scratched, but then you sadly also lose the Sony logo. But I don't know if that's also the case with the Z1 Compact

I have this phone for 2 years now, in my opinion this is very good mobile phone wity very nice battery life and no lagg when working or playing games, but there is also few problems with this phone: very bad selfy camera especially in night conditions, very quiet speaker beacause of its waterproff function, and in my opinion small screen for its perfomances. In all of that said i im very satisfied with my choice of buying this phone, but also I wouldn"t recommend anybody to buy this phone in 2017. because now you have a lot of better phones in market and lot cheaper.

Had this phone for well over 2.5 years. Great phone, really. Two issues: Reading for longer peroids of time gets tiresome after about 20 minutes. Also the screen ("shatterproof glass") or whatever the marketing term is is crap. It got scratched after 3 days of carrying in my jean pockets. I'f I'm not mistaken many Z1C users complained about this and sony corrected the ("shatterproof") glass concept for the Z3C.

That is most likely a counterfeit battery for $11, I just got shipped one, it is an imitation. After 1.5-2 years the battery dies, then you need to find a replacement. Then good luck picking one online that is cheap and not a fake. And the glued back cover is a hassle. Don't tell me how pro you are with replacing it, you'll need the gluey thing, you'll need to order it, wait for it, do it each time you need to open it up. Which might happen more often than you think if they scam you with fake batteries. I'll never buy such a phone again, they should just put a cover there that can be opened by hand or by a screwdriver. This is just a marketing agenda to make you spend money to fix stuff that starts to get problems right after the warranty expires.

It's complicated. There are different Z1 compacts out there: I have both types (there could be more). The differences (in batches (of new ones) I got my dirty hands on): there are two different displays (I don't recall which one is made by whom): one seems to have better dynamic range of colors, but is significantly less bright in the sunlight - the other one is really good in sunlight, but has colors not as deep as the other one. The ones with more dynamic displays do NOT have internal NFC sticker antenna (why? I have no idea, but it was so on all three Z1 compacts I got from mainland China). I installed it (you can see that I was tinkering with these babies, it's just a hobby). No noticeable difference for NFC. Interestingly, these phones (more dynamic displays and no NFC sticker antenna) also have significantly poorer cell tower reception (compared side-by-side). If all Z1c's were as good as the ones I got almost 3 years ago, I would still go for it (with a caveat below), but not for the ones that are different. Now for the bad news: there is no official upgrade for these phones to Android 6.* This is a bummer. Really. Especially in the light of internal memory being 16GB: these days one wants at least 32GB. I am waiting for a compact phone (as Z1c) with 64GB now.

The battery won't last 2 years, then you'll have to spend 15% of the purchase price to get it replaced. The back cover is glued and is not removable, which is very inconvenient considering the necessary battery replacement.

If your phone still can be charge, Just connect your phone to a pc with internet connection. After installed the sony software. Use the software to repair your phone. If is the battery problem then u need to replace the battery around 150 bucks first.

Had no problems the first few months of ownership.camera was the first disappointment. Poor quality for 20 mega pixels. Dust accumulated and then on crappy pics. Then wifi reception deteriorated suddenly after a year and the screen cracked. Not worth the money.

I owned this phone for more than 2 yrs now. It is exceptionally beautiful. After around 15 month of usage I started having problem with the battery. It switched off whenever battery reached 30% but i replaced the battery and everything was working fine. It slipped so many times from my hand (from like 5'') nothing happened.. i must say very solid phone. Unfortunately, recently screen cracked and touch stopped working. And about camera, i didn't like the quality at all. Outdoors, the quality was very good and all. but in low light it was blehhh... I never ever took photos in low light. never. But all in all I love this phone. :)

Update: I'll send it back, because the Screen is disintegrating, the touch sometimes acts up and the thing gets very hot (to a point where it actually hurts to touch it, and I feel like the screen might be damaged because of it). Another thing you need to know about this phone is, that it's screen really loves finger prints.

I bought this Game to play Pokemon Go (56€~ on ebay, with defect speaker phone (dunno if thats the correct translation, the thing you'd use while driving), it's not delivered yet, but I think it's Snapdragon 800 and Adreno 330 is still superior to newer Phones in the 200€ price range, which usually come with a Adreno 405 or comparable and a low clocked octa core. The display of this phone seems extremely prone to breaks. Minimum impact, unluckily exposed to, can break the display. Cracks may be nearly invisible, nonetheless the phone is gone. Saw this happening three times, one incident with even an unnoticable impact that broke the display. However, no-one wold buy this phone nowadays anymore, anyways.

It sounds like you need to update your phone's APN / Internet settings. You can do that under Settings -> More -> "Internet Settings." If it doesn't update automatically then tap "Mobile Network Settings" and there you can select the Service Providers (to select your network) or APN settings. If you can't get the APN settings to update automatically then you may need to enter them manually. Your carrier can provide those. If your phone is locked then you may not have the ability to do all of that. In that case contact your carrier.

I've had this phone for about a year and a half. Overall I'm happy with it, considering I payed about $350 for it unlocked (if I remember correctly). The size and specs are good if you're looking for a smaller phone without giving up a lot of power. At this time (July 2016) it's probably closer to a mid-spec'd phone then a flagship. The build quality is pretty good, considering the back is plastic. There doesn't appear to be any parts of the phone that feel loose or creek when using. It is waterproof, but I haven't tested it. The stock software has been a mixed bag. Often it performs well, but on some occasions it inexplicably runs sluggish and becomes unresponsive. I blame Sony for this, as some of their updates seem to perform better than others. I eventually moved to a custom ROM after rooting, which has helped a lot with the performance issues and bugs. It's too bad Sony can't seem to get it right when optimising Android for their devices. I wouldn't suggest getting a custom ROM to most people, but if you're familiar with the process and don't mind doing it then I think you should try one if you aren't happy with your phone's performance. The camera is pretty decent. It's not really as good as an iPhone 6s/6s+ or a Lumia 1020, but better than many phones that are out there. The LED LCD screen is decent, but compared to the AMOLED displays we see out there now on newer Samsung and LG phones the XZ1C's screen feels less vibrant and more dull (as in the max brightness). The screen resolution is only 720P (landscape), but as it has a smaller screen size physically it isn't an issue. Overall it's a nice phone in a smaller size. It's a bit dated spec-wise in Jul 2016, but still performs pretty well. If you have performance issues consider a custom ROM (if willing). You can probably find one for a good price.

The phone is pretty good. The dust proof feature is good. It is in my pocket all day long and collects any kind of dust and particles all around the city. It works fine, even the camera is dirty also. The waterproof capability is tested in rain outdoor and is good. It works as far as you can navigate the wet screen. With a good screen protector the last is much easier. :) The phone is reliable as performance. Very fast. Nate feeling, working with it even after a number of apps are running. Pros: Fast, Good performance with many apps, Long battery life Cons: Some of the apps are SONY customized and need purchase after some time; The speaker could be noisy or the other side can't hear you because of noise reduction option which sometimes disturb the sound. Verdict: Good apparatus with plenty of features and good IP protection. Sturdy - after number of drops it is OK. Fast and well working. Good competitive of iPhone 5S.

Absolute worst phone I've ever had been nothing but problems from day 1.. camera works well when it wants to otherwise it's "not available", it freezes and randomly restarts, the reception is rubbish it can't make its mind up what signal it wants if it wants any at all, battery life at best lasted 4-6 hours now I'm lucky to even get 3 with it on standby in my pocket, both speakers for calling are so quiet they can barely be heard making this also makes the gps unusable for traveling, if plugged into an aux the sound volume it puts out on max volume is like an iPhone on 1/3 volume so it's no good for playing music in the car, the charger socket is weak and fragile (mines broken.. Twice), the little covers over the slots don't stay shut... I could go on but what is the point I'm forever being told how good these phones are compared to iPhones from everyone in the industry and from my experience iPhone has it all over this thing and every other android I've had.. Save yourself the irritation and hole in the pocket don't buy one of these buy something else.. Honestly a cheap $60 phone is much more useful..

Whatever helps you sleep well. As someone here rightly said, it has bad battery. Now that I compare to competition, it has huge bezels. It's saving grace is that no hanging, very rare. Sony alongside HTC, Apple used to be best phone maker, but I'm afraid the new brands are better than them.

I have this phone for almost two years and I think it's great. It has never let me down, but on the other hand I'm not a very needy user. Camera and sound are great, battery is amazing and it looks beautiful (it's pink). I just get a little annoyed sometimes when the screen picks up fingerprints, but, since it's waterproof, I just wash it under water.I only have to point out that I bought it without a contract and I think that it's a better choise.

I love this phone. I've been using Android Phones since they launched and I noticed fast battery consumption with a lot of handset models (even non-Android, like Apple and Windows). I usually connect to the internet in certain parts of the day, make phone calls, chat online, send and receive SMSs, take photos and videos, play music... but still Xperia Z1 Compact has battery stamina that lasts for two days. There was even a time that it lasted for three days when I have not connected to the internet... It's just BRILLIANT!!! The phone runs smooth. It responds fast. Playing music is jaw-dropping especially when you set your favorite settings with the equalizer... The highs, mids and lows are amazing. Sound is clear. I use the same bluetooth stereo headset (Jabra Clipper) with different handsets, and the audio from Xperia Z1 Compact stands out. And the camera... The camera settings took me a while to understand. I read blogs and tips on using it, until I got the right settings for every need. I am into natural color, that is why I love Sony. The phone gives clear vivid pictures (pores of the skin are seen when you zoom in a photo). The fine details of a leaf or flower are obvious upon taking a shot. I even took a photo of a multicolored caterpillar and it was perfect... You can also set the focus of the camera... I call this, my "mini DSLR." You can make the subject clear or blurred in a shot. Kudos to Sony. I know that Sony continuously improves their phones and gadgets. I look forward to the day that people would recognize your works. Mine was working completely fine for the whole year and half until two weeks ago when its battery suddenly became crazy. It would shut down at 50%, 20 % and everytime I reconnect phone to WiFi. For your information the back panel of this phone is plastic and front is dragontail glass. The back is plastic hence gets scratched easily.

there is what they called anti shatter film that covers the glass, it is a plastic that can easily scratch. if you will going to remove the anti shatter film the sony logo on the top will be remove also, but you get a shiny glass (dont know if it is dragontail or corning gorilla glass)

I bought it a few days ago and I must say I'm delighted with it. It's very stable, fast and even in movies it didn't heat. But it came with 4.4.4 instead of 4.3 as I expected. Reading some reviews online about how much it literally kills the battery life, I wanted to downgrade, but I waited a little longer to see how it acts. 21h and 14m past since the last charge, I spoke around 70 min. and used the screen for about 2 hours (net surfing, messages and that's all; I should mention that stamina mode, location based Wifi, low battery mode and queue background data were activated) and nou the battery is at 65%. I believe it's decent for any phone user, plus, I don't use the phone that much so this one is ok for me. Oh, and the brightness was set on auto. I also watched the first time I charged the phone at Pixels, to see how the phone acts and how much battery consumes, it consumed around 21% and no heat at all. Now, pros and cons: Pros: - super design, except for the volume button placed next to unlock button, a little small for my taste - amazing screen, very clear images - super stable system even though everyone complains about it, fast running, no bugs! - I don't know if it's implied or not, but I am using nano-sim instead of micro-sim and works like a charm (I believe those types are not the same, right?) Cons: - The back is made of glass, very good to prevent overheating but easy scratchable. It can be corrected easily using a cover (I'm using Nillkin Frosted Shield) - The 20 mgpxl is a little bit dissapointing in low light conditions, makes good photos even then, but not with the same detail. The front camera is decent. - Battery was greater in reviews, maybe it's because of the android version. I will try to downgrade in the next few days and see how the battery life will change. But even now, I don't have anything to complain, it's decent for me. As a conclusion, best buy. I would give it a 8.5/9 out of 10. Cheap and excellent. Good job, Sony!

i have both xperia m4 aqua and xperia z1 compact. xperia m4 aqua huge disadvantages * overheating (not normal overheating) while z1 compact does not overheat even if your playing hard game. * poor camera quality both front and back especially on low light (even if you will going to use flash) xperia m4 advantages * using ip68 tech as waterproof and dustproof. no need to worry on always removing the cover on the charging port whenever you will going to charge because there's no cover on the charging port but still waterproof. * loud speaker (but whenever you drown the phone underwater you need to wait atleast 30mins because speaker will go low. It is IPS, i have a XZ1C and i can tll you its way better than a TFT in the viewing angles. Im alittle spoiled as i have been usin a moto x it has a AMOLED and it feels hat are same brightens even outside but colors better in amoled but definetely better viewing angles thann TFT going to IPS. i have compared my XZ1C to TFT phones and other gadgets and it does make a relative difference, like from XPZ1(big borther).

sorry i went wrong the first comment. not necessary more pixels more memory, is the amaunt of light captured in the picture element will produce more data meaning better quality meaning more megabytes but the bigger picture element making the sensor bigger making the camera"eye" bigger along with the lens bigger essentially bigger canera(tv cams or dlr, or point-and-shoot). the sony xperia z1 compact is 20million pixels (Megapixels)1.1micron size picture elements(like pixels on screen but capture light instead of producing). in my moto x is 10MP 1.4 microns(bigger better) size, less of them 10 million pixels in moto x vs 20 million in the sony, picture elements but moto x produces higher quality and heavier piture (6-7megabytes) and in sony 5mb maximum is what i have gotten of the same piture subject(i.e. my backyard tree) in same time and conditions, note in moto x picture of the trees' leaves and branches are waaay more detailed when zoomed in. the microns size make big diference even at 1.1-1.4 differwnce is huge really. considering you packing more in the same size or about same suze sensor makes less light come in leaving lesd detailed pictutes with less heavy(megabytes) pictures but very large in physical size (you could print a poster size picture, if you have the adecute printer of course)

RAM? i cant really tell as when you exit ap it kill the app process so i cant check on the mwmory mangament, but i asume it does use more becauase has many funtions naf highe screen refresh rate and does get quite warm whwn recirding video for long time(10min) like 41c. as for memory storage per photo taken my pictures each one has come the largest like 4-5MB at 20MP but really i personally dont like camera i have moto x 10mp cam same storage size per photo , maybe a little more 5-6MB the best ones but takes waaay more details (higher megapixes dont meant better quality) in fact the more they put they had smaller picture elements in the sensor so less light and less quality, but bigger picture. camers are sometimes the opposite of screens. bigger in size higher dwnsity ppi means sharper image yes in screens but in cameras that size to fit in a phone no....thats why pro cameras are huge and have big lenses because the sensor is bigger, bigger picture ele,pments to capture more light, and to let more light in, a bigger lens. the biggest now are 1080p, and just starting 4k but so expensibe to produce that tnere is very little content to sell

From the 16GB total memory advertized, internal; 11.7GB available(after the format and OS installed). stock apps take like 600MB so really 11.1GB when just brand new...good thing you can put a 2TB micro sd, even thou they dont exist yet but highest available to buy as of sep of 2015 is 128GB. I hve a 128GB(119GB available after formated) micro sd in it and works fine. i have all wikipedia database with pics (40gb) with kiwix app, all world maps from maps.me app (25gb), and like 8gb of music. still have 40gb leftover for hd video and pictures IN THE SD. and keep my phone memory free so it doest eventually bog down performance.

It was working super but when i updated to Android 5.1.1 , Bulid No. 14.6.A.0.368 i have to face many problems 1) camera hangs . 2) cant play videos properly (i have to change to Software codecs) . Hardware codecs makes problem. 3) if 1 play video in Whatsapp or gallery it hangs. i dont know what more to come . this is worst update from sony . sony people must check it and release a bug free update .

Upgrade to Lollipop 5.1 at your own risk. My cellphone is barely a month old. It used to last 60 hours between charges. After upgrade, it lasted only 24 hours between charges. My old Samsung Galaxy S3 mini lasts longer and I have had this phone for more than two years.

HELP !!! I put my z1 compact in sea water with all the ports been closed...about 20 cm in the water and after 10 seconds I took it out of the water then i dry it and the phone was normally working after i returned home and the phone wasn't charging so that i do was to drain all the battery (the phone still was working normally)and then test charging it.....but the phone seems like it doesn't want to charge...it power up to the the battery charging animation and it is stuck at 0%... i was charging it all the day but it is still at 0% someone help me !!! what i must do ??

Yes. Xperia Z1 compact is way better than ZR. I remember that I had also loved ZR looks before. Note that Z1 compact was the voted the best phone in 2014 by several reviewers. I love my Z1c !

Have you checked other items in the bag? This is maybe caused by a combination of the pressure from a wider surface area, from multiple angle and the duration of the pressure. Whatever phone you have, don't sit on it unless your phone is on a flat surface.

has been used for 10 months. my friends always under estimate about performance of this phone, maybe because Z1C have compact/mini body size. in the end they were all surprised to see how fast this phone. Asphalt 8, Mortal Kombat X, Modern Combat 5, Dungeon Hunter 5, and many more hard games has been played in my Z1 Compact. i can play Asphalt 8 & Angry Birds or other games at the same time simultaneously with no problems. if your Z1C get hot after playing games, you can put your Z1C into the refrigerator for 5-10 minutes. Don't worry, it's waterproof !!!

If the water gets in direct contact with the screen, it will ofcourse put you in the problem. Water running through tap would be a best example of direct contact. Otherwise I personally use soundcloud undershower with my xperia z1compact. It's water proof...

even though this is water proof. it is not. I tested under water photo shooting in 3 ft deep. instantly 4n gets to restart n went shutdown. afterward I checked and I found that water went to inside of the phone through seal locks. all locks were properly closed but it happened. I HAD A HUGE TRUST ON SONY AND NOW IT HAS BEEN DISSAPERED. PLEASE GUYS DO NOT EVER TRY THIS WATERPROOF OPTION.

Motorola works fine for 5 years, battery the only one I need to replace. In my experienced Motorola had better signal compare to xperia ( my defy still had 4 bar edge out of 5 bar, while 3 other brand new xperia (xperia c3, E1 and E3) no signal at all). Motorola Defy is water resistance just like xperia z but the sound is louder and clear. btw try leave your xperia a few day untauch, and than try hard reset who knows it working. good luck

Plz Don't buy this phone. Sony service center says it is non repairable. I bought it last year cost was around 33000/- . after completing the warranty one day morning when I woke up I saw that the phone suddenly stopped. when I tried to restart it didn't respond. So I thought may be the battery is down. once I put it into charging a message pop out of the phone "Your phone is switched off due to over heating the charging will continue once it is cooled off" and also shown that 80% charge is remaining. So I went to a service center. Just seeing the phone they told me that this phone is non-repairable. If it was in warranty they would have replaced it, but now they can only offer me a discount coupon for my next buy of a sony mobile. (they still hoping that I will buy another sony phone after this!!!!)

You should be getting more battery life. Check if there is any specific app draining ur battery. I use almost the same and that too with all time exchange mail sync on. It goes just more than a day for me. approx 24 hrs = 100% > 30%. And I have a lot of voice call as well.

I get around 5 to 5.5 hours maximum screen on time, with mainly browsing on chrome, whatsapp and gmail on wi-fi, a few videos and around an hour or a little more of walkman app. The screen is at minimum brightness all the time with adapt to lighting conditions on and also i use the phone on 2g 95% of the time since i don't use mobile data much. Stamina mode is on all the time. I get around 1 day of battery time. Its running on Kitkat. The battery drains by about 1% every 3-5 mins. Can someone tell me if my battery is performing as it should?. Or should i be getting more, since i see people getting 6 to 7 hours screen on time and nearly 2 days battery time with my kind of usage. Any reply would be highly appreciated.

My boyfriend has to get his screen replaced, didn't drop it, merely put it facedown on a wooden windowsill, without anyforce whatsoever. Well, if your are using flash + superior auto mode it sometimes happens, because the flash is too close to the camera.Try using manual mode, see if that helps.

My battery life is excellent. I had a battery problem in an old device when the mini sd card was improperly formatted or corrupted. I remember copying the sd card to my computer, reformatting a new larger sd card and repopulating the sd card from the computer copy. You could try that with your current sd card to see if that would work.

This phone is the Only sensibly shaped and sized phone available. The glass is very good and has been put thru the ringer with me from beach to mountains and working around my shop. I have never scratched the screen or the back glass cover either, and its been in my toolbox. Thin film protection is all I use on back and front. Size is perfect for pockets and the angular shape keeps it from slipping out of your hands like a used hotel bar of soap. The camera is outstanding compared to others for definition and at 20 mp it even gives my old Nokia Pureview 808 a run for its money. Video is its specialty, and even the front 2mp camera can capture hd video. The pictures do degrade in quality as it gets darker and I've seen they have fixed this with a better aperture in the z3 and above models. Setting the aperture manually is an ez enough work around even in auto mode, and the photo apps really let you capture whatever you want in a variety of styles. The waterproofing has saved me countless times at the beach and at pools, and even around a bucket of radiator fluid (dont ask). The magnetic charging system allows the user to never have to open the mini usb charging door and the phone holds a charge for two days easily when the going gets forgetful. I have no idea why Sony bundles its own shell and I rarely use any, but my godson loves the Playstation app as a bluetooth controller for his playstation about three times a year. My only complaint is that the sound is too quiet for listening to sports station audio on the street when you're late for the game and trying to listen to a station, and I have great hearing. Its a limitaion in the software apparently, because even with headphones or the bluetooth speaker, the Sony always lacks volume over my old Nokia or my Ipod and iPhone devices. Hopefully that too can be rectified, since it would be nice to use oh maybe a Sony device to listen to some Sony music. I know it seems radical. Hello Corporate. Really is a fun device all in all, only wish they could add some usefulness to their shell, like being able to direct outgoing App info or Updates to only wireless bandwidths. Nokia did it with Symbian, so it must not be that hard to do, and I may be mistaken, but I think Symbian code is easily licensed these days. Otherwise this is a complete diamond in the rough, quick, speedy, fun, waterproof, and a joy to hold!

Do not buy this phone at all costs. When I first had the Sony Z1 i like it - interface was good and everything worked well. Until a very hot day in June 2 months after I bought it the screen cracked (for no apparent reason.) It was dropped or anything just took it out of my pocket and unuseable (as its touch screen could even enter the unlock code.) Checked a few web sites and apparently its something they know about. Hi... I just bought a z1 compact last week from an online retailer in India(have been using it for 5 days straight now). The box seemed used and i think i got a refurbished phone but inspite of that i started using it (since i love the phone) to see if it had any major issues. And so far other than a few wifi issues i have noticed that my battery gets drained really fast compared to what others have posted online on various forums (barely lasts a whole day with average usage) even after optimizing everything ranging from disabling and deleting apps to settings tweaks and minimum brightness. I updated it to the latest kitkat version and didn't go to lollipop yet since i read it has many issues. This phone was manufactured way back in september 2014. So could that have affected the battery or is it because its a new phone and the battery needs time settling in?. I am really confused as to what to do. I had purchased my device (Xperia Z1 compact) around November 2014 and for the most part, the device functioned perfectly, excluding a few software glitches in freezing and camera problems. However i returned from Mauritius a week ago where for the first time i had tested the under-water/ waterproof capabilities of the phone. I adhered to Sony's rules of not submerging the device further then 1.5m under water and making sure that is was fresh water when submerging the phone. I took the device into a pool where i took a few under water pictures. After about the fourth picture the phone went blank and stayed that way. I am utterly disgruntled at my network provider (MTN) who informed me that my warranty is void and should i opt for them to repair the device then i shall be liable to repair fees in the region of R3000.00 and above. I had adhered to every instruction that Sony stipulates prior to taking the device under water and there were no warning signs stipulating that any ports were open. I now refuse to be a victim of Sony's **** and demand they contact me or else i will expose their ***** on the grandest scale i possibly can.

My Z1 Compact died yesterday. After charging to 100% in turned on state, I shut it down but after that it could not boot up. It's indeed not fully water resistant anymore since months before because when I clean it under the tap, water gets into camera lens.

I had the same issues after upgrade, but everything went back to perfectly fine after Data partition wipe (same can be achieved by Factory Reset) .. nothing to lose, just backup your contacts, SMSs, apps, etc .. and proceed ..

Lollipop Downunder...Upgraded a few days ago and not having any problems. Battery life is better than KitKat, Camera is faster as stated before. Generally very impressed with the up grade, far better than with my Samsung products which I'm slowly getting rid of, one 10 inch tab to go soon. What has made this phone a BIG step up from earlier "waterproof" phones is the availability of a magnetic charger cable. No little doors to wear out and fail like my Xperia GO did. Got a $4 device with telltale led, it works brilliantly. Also, if the power lead is accidently hooked it disconnects and doesn't flick the phone across the room. There are a few bugs:- Can't delete Messages in bulk ( multiple select), can't delete sms threads. Camera crashes frequently. Have notified xperia dev team in Nov 2014 but no resolution yet. Overall a nice device if you ignore above bugs. If you can spend little extra, go for xperia z3 compact

Sony Xperia Z1 Compact � one of the most annoying phones I�ve ever had. First of all the camera performs very poorly - 20,7 mpx doesn�t mean that it takes good pictures. They�re just big and that�s it. And it doesn�t really give you much. In the daylight they�re comparable to photos from other phones but when there�s a little less light, everything is always blurred. And I mean always. Only putting it on a tripod would help but still not enough for it to take sharp pictures when there�s little light. Then there is the flash which is useless � again I mean it. You cannot use it as pictures are becoming blue. So forget about pictures after dark. This issue has been reported to Sony ever since the phone appeared on the market and thousands of people bought it and started complaining. No reaction from the manufacturer, no adequate software update to address this issue. Check other comments on this phone and you�ll see that every Z1 Compact fails here. Video recording is ok though. The quality is decent but it often cannot focus properly and struggles for several seconds. Also, the view is very narrow (doesn�t apply to photos � it�s much better there) which has just ruined my yesterday�s video when I tried to record something from the top with a stretched arm � this has led me to finally writing this review after a year of using the phone to warn the potential buyers about what lemon Sony has introduced to the market. Another thing it the additional camera button (which not always works properly by the way) which if you hold opens automatically a camera app. Nice thing to have but it sets the camera only to 8 mpx mode/720p video. No way to switch so that you can take a full res picture or a video. I�ve search for that with no success. If you want to use 20,7 mpx and full HD, you need to unlock the screen and choose the camera app or after holding the button and starting the 8 mpx/720p mode you need to go to camera settings and switch to 20,7/full HD. Putting it simply � there�s no way of quickly taking a full resolution photo/video. Great! Generally the phone doesn�t freeze at all. After having it for a full year, it has never frozen during all kind of actions. Never � and that�s a nice thing. Some apps happened to die several times but I think it�s no the phone�s fault but some issue with the apps themselves. The phone runs on 4.4 Android KitKat software which is the latest available so far. And here I have to get back to the camera app which sometimes (5% of the time you run it) says that the camera is unavailable. Of course it usually happens when you want to take a picture quickly. No, you have to restart the phone and hope for the camera app to work this time. This software has made the quick settings menu to split to two parts (tabs). If you open it (drag from the top) it only shows you notifications which I always read when they appear. I don�t store them so I�m not interested in seeing that 150 times a day. To get to the quick settings you need to click once more in the second tab. So you need to drag and click to get where you want. This has come with the 4.4 KitKat. Great improvement again! And now imagine that you do that every single time for almost a whole year (update was released later). This is just about the most annoying thing about this phone. If you want to open Internet connection, GPS, adjust brightness or anything other to work from that menu, you do not necessarily want to get through all kinds of different menus. Speaking about speed, the reaction times are not bad. They�re not really impressive either. Switching through home screen�s pages is slower than in iPhone 1. Yes it is. It�s not a huge disadvantage but surprises me that a phone that is 6-7 (iPhone from 2007 or 2008) years younger does some simple things not as good as the �grandpa� iPhone (it�s battery still holds enough to use it as an music player :)). Then there is the auto dimming screen that often doesn�t switch off. It just stays lit up all the time if you don�t turn it off manually using the side button. It will stay on until the battery dies, I checked. It�s like that since I bought the phone. Doesn�t always behave this way but it happened several times a week and the only solution to that is to reset it or completely turn off the phone. I thought it may be caused by some app running in the background and forcing the display to stay on but after turning all of them off, the problem didn�t disappear� So annoying. I�m now just waiting to swap it for a 2x as expensive iPhone which I do not need but the useless camera and the annoying way of the way the Sony works is too much for me and leaves me no choice. I had a Samsung Galaxy S before and it wasn�t perfect either. It was ok but was freezing a lot and that was its biggest problem. Some problems with reading the SD card also appeared (unfortunately Samsungs like to do that). On the other hand the battery life is superb. Wi-Fi and data transmission work very fast. The screen quality is also good even though the factory brightness adjustment may not be enough for some of us and you�ll need to download an app that expands its range of adjustment. The main speaker is rather quiet comparing to any Samsung which may not be a big deal bit it surprised me. The quality of sound (and music) is noticeably worse though (comparing to the SGS3 and a very old Galaxy S1). The notification LED is barely seen so it�s basically useless unless you look at it directly. You may miss some messages because of that and it really, really bothers me in everyday life as I have to constantly look and check the phone being worried that I miss something important. Also, when you get a text message, the display doesn�t light up and all you get it that LED flashing from time to time. You also may not get any visual preview on the center of screen of what the message contains. Only after pushing the side button you may see an icon in the upper left corner and a part of a message at the time. Then the text disappears and all you�re left with is that tiny icon. Very frustrating, especially if your screen background is rather bright and it�s hard to see the little text message icon. These are the everyday problems living with the Xperia Z1 Compact. If you use the alarm clock, you need to know that when it rings there�s only one way to turn it off � you have to slide your finger on the screen from a certain point to the side of the screen. It�s impossible to do that without looking at the phone because there�s no tolerance and you need to touch the screen in an exactly indicated spot. It usually takes several times to manage that especially if you�ve just opened your eyes. Better have something else for an alarm clock... One last thing that is almost funny and ridiculous. When I grab the phone with one hand and hold it, I put my little finger underneath it to prevent it from slipping and falling on the ground. Now the bottom end has very sharp edges around the speaker and the microphone. You can feel them every single time. I just cannot comment on that� This phone is just not well-thought and it makes using it very, very annoying. I really do not recommend this phone to anyone. I bought it because the camera was supposed to be so good. I�m never going to buy anything from Sony again, ever. It was released in 2014 and they still cannot get simple things to work. I spent some time to write all of that hoping that some of the ones that read it, avoid making a really bad decision.

I would like to purchase a phone for long term use of atleast 3 years. Z1c ticks all the boxes except for the 32-bit processor part. Will it be an issue after 2 years, since 64 bit processors have started coming out and lollipop supports it and also eventually apps will be written for it. So is Z1c all that future proof?. Sonys phones have 20.7MP. The default option is Superior Auto mode which is at 8MP which automatically detects the scene you are in and adjusts everything automatically for you. You were probably using 8MP and you didn't even know it. You can also choose Manual Mode which goes from 2MP to 20.7MP. There are many more options with the Sony camera. You also cannot compare a phone like the Iphone 6 to Z1 Compact You can compare Iphone 5s with Z1 Compact and Z3 Compact with Iphone 6.

Has anyone looked into all these threads about the camera being unreliable? I have mine for almost 4 month now. I never know if the picture I'm about to take will save just fine or will crash the phone. There is no fix, not even an acknowledgement by Sony, just the "have you tried to turn it off and on again". There is no point I was having one of the beat cameras in its class when it's a gamble if it will save the picture. I wish you good luck with picking the random one that does not have these problems.

Only when you have MiUi ROM installed .. there is a feature to disable the screen while in a pocket (depends on the proximity sensor, natively [no battery drain]) .. only then the problem disappears ..

with Z1C you don't need to worry about lag, Z1C have Snapdragon 800 Quad-core 2,2 GHz and 2 GB RAM. I played some hard game with full graphic setting and i never got lag / freezing. If you don't care about gaming, i think you know what i mean : )

Thanks for the reply! I meant I didn't care about the fingerprint scanner of the s5 mini, but it is a good point that the Z1C easily scratches/ gets dirty. Maybe a screen protector could limit this though. To be honest, for what I will be using the phone for, there is probably little difference between the two. I just want a decent camera, a phone that doesn't lag / hang randomly and something which is reliable and not gonna break after a couple months!

You dont care about fingerprints? Well you will if you get this phone, the shatterproof sheet gets very scratched and then the fingerprints get very hard to remove so you wipe it more and it get even more scratches and... The circle of evil. In addition, the shatter proof sheet makes touch uncomfortable and inefficient. Do yourself a favor and buy a phone with tempered oloephobic coated glass, no more scratches and no smudges, basically it almost cleans itself. In other words, S5 Mini COULD be an option but it depends on your taste. One thing is for sure though, S5 Mini was not always a great option but with the recent slimming of TouchWiz and removal of bloatware the 1.5GB RAM in S5 Mini will do a great job performance wise.

haha..maybe for a normal user the battery life can last for a full day. About hard gaming and heating, i still can hold it. I use full graphic resolution setting in that game (no compromise) and aprrox 80% brightness display. You can reduce heating problem by reducing graphic resolution setting in that game + 20% brightness display. In my opinion, graphic quality is still good. by the way i'm sorry if you feel i'm not a average user. I think you will happy with Z1C. This is a powerfull 4,3" android smartphone. The S4 LTE-A has a very significant advantage in display clarity, and also slightly better camera with no flash bleed and most of all with a POWERFUL LED flash. The big downside of S4 is that the camera is often getting things wrong in non-optimal conditions but thats a well known old problem that affects all galaxy phones, Note 4 included. If you have good eyes theres no way to be happy with Z1 Compact, the display is same as flagships more than 2 and a half years ago, thers simply noexcuse for that. If you cannot focus without moving the phone away from your face (ie if you are farsighted) it doesnt matter unless you use reading glasses but at that long viewing distance displays below 5 inches start getting very underwhelming to use anyway, so theres still a reason to go for S4 instead.

If you need a compact / small / 4,3" size, go for Z1 Compact. Z1C is the real phone size in my opinion, more pocketable, you can use with 1 hand, and have IPS Screen for more picture quality than S4. By the way, you can't compare with galaxy S4 because it has more large size. Large size phone always have more specs because it has more internal space for more components. But specs of Z1C & S4 LTE is similar. That's plus point for Z1C. The real battle is Z1 Compact vs Galaxy S5 mini / Z1 vs Galaxy S4 LTE

This phone is supposedly awesome but it shuts down all the time, saying it's due to high temperature! Like, what the hell, Sony? Don't forget to always control your Z1C temperature after playing a hard games. Download Due Battery in google apps for check battery temperature. Don't let your Z1C overheat, maybe other people get some problems because this. You should know how to handle electronic.

Mine didn't have flash bleed (white version). Took a photo in complete darkness with flash. I think they might have raised the silver ring around the camera lens to be in line with the upper edge of the backplate, so that it shields the camera now.

14W44 devices have shitty build quality it seems. Ordered two devices off amazon, and both of them had irregular gaps between the white plastic frame and the metal frame. Pressing on the plastic frame closes the gap. Not trusting this to be waterproof. There is also the fact it has a scratch resistant glass on the front covered by an easily scratchable anti-shatter foil. Non JP model also has a plastic backplate which is easily scratchable as well. Protectors are pretty much mandatory. 20MP pictures have a lot of noise on ISO>200, picture detail is nothing impressive but decent. App performance is great. Battery life as well, though it needs a few charges to reach maximum capacity (this is normal). The CPU is able to decode most 1080p 10-bit h264 fluently, eating 10% of battery per 25 minutes and gets rather warm. Not getting warm at all with other tasks though.

The flash bleed occurs on all, but to a less degree on the black ones as the bleed light is absorbed better in that model. Dont know why some say they dont have flash bleed, they must have tested it wrong or not tested at all. And, you can fix the problem yourself, not too difficult. Apart from that, disappointed with the price drop of Z1c, instead of reducing the Z1c price they are charging higher price for Z3c, even Z3c isnt worth crap.

Z1 Compact touch screen is made with high quality, it very sensitive too. It's fine if you want put 1-3 sheet screen protector on top of it shatterproof sheet.

Been using z1c for almost two months already.. So far it work great and no problem.. Battery life was phenomenal.. The best for me but I'm yet to try the holy grail of 4 inch phone the SONY XPERIA z3c.. Camera are great but not the best specially at night but it's still acceptable.. Superb performance and speed.. Audio just average but then again who need a loud speaker.. Not everyone want to hear your songs.. So i would rate this phone 9/10 overall rating but this just my personal opinion.. Recommend phone ♡

I have bought this phone in april. So far i'm very happy with it. No problems, no crackings, no water problems. I use magnetic desk charger. Using it a lot for calling, internet and navigation. With gps and map program (Navigator, with downloaded maps) battery lasted about 24 hour without charging (from Wladilawowo, Poland to Pärnu, Estonia, about 1000 km). What more i could want!

WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE I HAVE !!_EVER_!! experienced in my life. I bought a Sony Xperia Z1 Compact about six months ago. After about 4 months the phone stopped working. I was getting no charging. Long and behold Sony was charging me for a bad motherboard. I later put together that if you put too much pressure in the back corner of the phone, then it will break off the part that connects the battery to the motherboard. And no, you cannot buy the part. After sending it to Sony (Kent, UK) location, I received a quote to pay £128.08 ( £90.85 for "electric repair", £24.17 "handling fee", and £13.06 for shipping). I tried asking what the electrical repair was and they said they had to escalate this to a "escalations manager" to provide the information. After five days I got a call saying the phone is not under warranty and that the phone needs to be fixed. I told them I wanted to know what the electrical repair was for as I didn't do anything to break it, so I want to challenge the charges. I also wanted to know why they were charging me nearly double the cost of shipping the unit back to me. I sent the item to them for £7.50 with £500 insurance, and they wanted £13.06 for shipping it back to me. Long story short, I've called them 3-4 days a week asking for a manager to call me back and the employees who answer the phone just kept telling me that they would email the escalations engineers to call me back. In addition, they would not allow me to talk to the call center duty manager. It's been nearly two months and I have not received a call back from a escalations manager or received any new information otherwise. I keep being told that the escalation managers are not available and that I can either pay the fee or ask for them to return the phone back. Oh, also that it's not under warranty because I broke it. The day I get this phone back I am selling it, and never buying a Sony product as long as i live. Learn from my mistake and save yourself the hassle. FYI: Sony doesn't even fix their own phones, which is why they will take days if months to even get you information about your repair.

I've had the phone for several months now, I like it as much now as when I got it. The camera is the best I've had on any phone so far (still not quite as good as my mirrorless camera but you wouldn't expect it to be). It has tap-to-focus and allows you to lock exposure settings (1/2 button press on a camera) before taking the shot. Video is very good. Display is sharp. I like the size, it's a bit bigger than an iPhone 5, so to me it's a right-size phone, not a small one. I have all the battery saving options turned on (no GPS, no wi-fi except when I'm downloading an app or something). I spend maybe 2-3 hours a day on it (playing games, checking e-mail, facebook, texts and maybe a couple actual phone calls), and it lasts two days easy. Probably 3 if I wanted to push it. I did have a problem with the battery draining, the MediaServer would run continuously and not let the phone go idle (although the screen would turn off). Turns out it was with the Hill Climber app. If I turn that off when I'm done (bring up the list of active apps with the bottom-right button that looks like boxes, and swipe it away), then I don't have that problem anymore.

I took off the thin plastic sheet that they ship it in. I then added a regular screen protector. The Sony Logo I believe is on the touch-screen glass itself, I don't think you can remove that. I also have a thin case to protect the backside, so no worries for me.

hi to all i am using this phone for past 3 month.i would like share my experience. cons: 1.power button volume button are too hard to press 2.i am a rooted user.in my previous phone xperia neo ..with the help of link2sd app i moved all apps app data everthing to sd..so in that phone basic internal usage will be only 30 mb..it wont get decreased since data cache everything will be linked to sd..but here link2sd is working but app data must be in basic internal..for example heavy games like gta nfs..those data must in internal even if u move apk to sd..no use..so its totally waste to have sd card..only for media purpose we can have sd..a big disadvantage totally disappointed having gta vice city.,san andreas,nfs my internal shows 75% full 3.even its a ips display black colour is not pure black but we can compare these device to iphone nexus 5.ther will not that much difference..i hate samsung product..but if comes to screen comparison .amoled are awesome no display can stand near amoled..even nokia 730 display is good..because if we view the ips display in side angle it give negatve effect specially black colour but in amoled its very perfect.. pros: 1.some of them leaving comments sound is low..its not low..its perfect ..clear effect audible usually i use sound plus vibration for ringtone..and nowadys who hearing songs through speaker..htc having bass effect in speaker its not needed.. 2.grand look stylish compact design water proof 3.camera perfect 4.battery perfect 5. graphics are very smooth no laggy ness while playing gta nfs shadowgun 6.has controller option in setting itself gives a playstation experience

Okies. Cause base on what I've seen on the videos in youtube. The SONY Logo in front screen is printed on the shatter proof sheet. So removing it would also mean you would lose the SONY LOGO. Thats y I asked if you remove anything in the screen before installing the new screen guard protection. Right now, I'm just being careful with mine cause I did not install any screen guard. Just be aware of its main disadvantages that for some reason the users here doesnt wanna mention. Its the shatter proof sheet on the display, it immediately gets lots of small scratches and is nearly impossible to keep clean and makes touch input very bad whenever you need to swipe or flip. After a few months it will start bugging you more and more, quite annoying and a dealbreaker for many.

My advice is to stay away from vodacom as they repair the phones themselves and i highly doubt your phone went to Sony SA, i had a similar experience with a 9900 2 years ago and they refused to replace my phone until i threatened to report their service to the media a manager called me back and my phone was replaced with a demo model!!!

Disgraceful service from Sony!I have had this phone for four months. Went cycling and put it in the pocket of my cycling jersey. Screen stopped responding...sent it in to Vodacom who is my service provider...they sent to Sony South Africa....Beyond Economical Repair - must be the worst service I have ever experienced. I find that my Z1 compact looses connection to the internet and does not always let all the calls come through. Need to switch phone on and off to fix it. It is really frustrating, cause I only realise there is a problem after receiving voicemails 5 hours after the calls. Any advice on how to fix this? I did download the newest version of Android. A new update is rolling now. Build number 14.4.A.0.157 (Android 4.4.4 - no Z3 features, just bug-fix), I'm really sure (99%) that it fixed the camera issue. Even (problably) 1% the camera is crashing, it restarts automatically and it start to works again.

its a superb phone.. glad i buy it..will lag but almost RARELY. mostly due to android problem.. no heating issue except it will get a little bit hot after heavy gaming.. advisable to take off its case when playing hd action games for LONG hours(2 to 3 hours). normal usage totally no problem.. audio is great, loud enough for normal person(unless you are deaf). the display is very bright, can see the screen even under bright light. camera however not really amazing at low light.. but if the camera is treated as a 'phone camera', not a 'professional camera' it should be catergorized great.. sony did a great job producing this compact monster.. suggest anyone to buy it if feels that the z3c is too expensive..

Been using for 6 months. Love the battery backup and fast performance. The only problem I had is when I launch camera it said not available, but after upgrading to latest software hadn't faced any problem. Now the problem is I lost the USB flap cover in my room and can't find it :(

This is one of the best phones I've handled so far and believe me, I've tested more than 12 smartphones with different brands just this year. Z1 compact is top quality. Galaxy s4? Forget it. Battery doesn't even last 6 hours with heavy usage. This little monster right here in my hands can last 2 days and a little over a day with heavy usage. Want a bigger screen? Nexus 5 will do nicely. Never lags. You just need to tweak some things to make battery last longer. Want an even bigger screen than that? Go for Note 2. I know it's not the latest handset out there but the performance, screen, and battery are great. But anyway, bottom line is, for me z1 compact is the best phone yet. Well worth the money.

I dont know about these cracking issues,very surprised actually. I bought mine in June 2014 and its pretty sturdy,I have had an accident on my bike and it just got away with few scraches whereas any other Samsung phone would have definitely broken into pieces.Maybe this is a present issue,something Sony might have done to keep its costs down-A difference in material used??

Been using this device for about 5 months now and it has been a great experience. For those who have and are going to get this device, I suggest they take out the pre-installed anti-shatter film of sony and replace it with a tempered glass protector. It makes the screen less prone to scratches. Software experience wise, download the Google Now Launcher app in the Play Store. It give a smoother and better experience that the Sony stock launcher. My only gripe about this phone is that it still has a terrible viewing angle, specifically when titled at a certain angle. The pictures get washed out, very bad for letting a coupe of people view content on your device. I haven't had this issue of the screen cracking and I doubt it is even true... Even cheap glass will not just crack mysteriously.

Thanks guys for opening my eyes to this failure. I'm a huge fan of this phone shame i have to bow out of getting it. If you are not convinced just google search yourself. The number of issues is disturbing. Plus the fact repairing the screen if such happens is more like half the phone price. I cant take such a risks.

Beware sony deny any issue but thousands have had phones screen cracking when in pockets or on charge even when using, believed to be heat related watchdog and which investigating! To make it worse this phone will not work at all with even the smallest crack in the screen

Hi, i play walking dead to this device, clash of clans and dead trigger 2. It never get hot my battery. As i observed The battery gets only hot because of many applications open. Before you play heavy games make sure closed all the apps you used. My battery last long for 6hrs gaming straight and if u want for last playing only turn on airplane mode the battery last for 8hrs gaming heavy game with open wifi. About bleeding flash? What do you mean? Camera of this phone is great flash is good. But not bright if u take shot a pictures long range. Well i hope this will help you.

It's water proof. If my finger prints in display and full of oil i just wash in sink and it looks like brand new again. I already use it taking pictures in fresh water and as i say its good. Also in heavy games :) maybe i don't recommend using it when raining that 3.5jack is up while rain is pouring. Water can be inside. If u gonna use it shooting pictures while raining make it side ways to avoid the water can pass through the headset jack. Nothing else it's waterproof.

Also i enjoy alot my device in 4.4 kitkat. I am a gamer, music lover. Amazing smartphone ever i had. But if u are skype user you need to use the earphone to hear your voice of your love once or friends. Low receiving voice in loud speaker mode when using skype. Other than that it's amazing. The screen looks better on the HTC One Mini, the colors appear more vivid. The white balance setting improves the yellowish tint of the white, but it's still off. Also, a part of the screen is taken by the soft buttons, so in most situations the screen is actually smaller than advertised. HTC Sense is clearly more user-friendly, with more shortcuts. The speakers are miles away, HTC has the best speakers around in my opinion. But then again, the One Mini is not waterproof. These are the cons, all the rest are pros :) Other than that, the phone is very cool and has tons of features not present in my HTC One Mini. Instead of complaining about scratches on the back, get creative! Buy TWO screen guards and stick one on the front and one (with a hole for the camera and flash) on the back and voila!

I have the z1c since march and like it more than all other phones before. Battery lifetime and performance are great. Camera very good in my eyes (I use only manual mode with 15.5MP and 16:9). Like the metal frame -> z3c has plastic frame? omg.. Sometimes after calling and taking the phone away from ear the screen doesn't switch on (any ideas?). LED flashlight is poor.

Bought this phone on white first, but because it had a gap between the aluminium case and the plastic frame onto which is glued the back, gap which was getting bigger every day, I returned it and got refund. I thought it was a bad lot so I waited a while and after seeing more z1c's on white (in different shops from different countries) I decided to buy the black version on which the gap wasn't as obvious and as bad as on the white versions. Now it's been two months since I bought it and have the following issues with it: -magnetic port got loose, although I've used it only a couple of times (with OEM charging magnetic cable).. ended up sticking it with glue not to fall out and not to lose the waterproofness. -speaker has strange squishing noise while I hear the calling tone while calling someone. I've notice that if I press slightly besides the speaker the noise goes away, so it must be from not so good glue used to stick the speaker. -still has the "factory design issue" as Sony calls it, the gap between the aluminium frame and back plastic frame. -Sony has done a really crappy software and the phone needs reboot every other day otherwise it gets stuck or basic functions stops working (e.g. wifi) - gonna solve this issue with new custom ROM (prefer loosing my warranty than having a shitty phone) Why i bought this phone, again, and why I don't wanna give it away (yet): fastest small and waterproof phone there is on the market, but if Sony keeps fooling around I'm gonna switch for other brands. Uh and I'm lucky I didn't experience the flash leak (although that would have been easily solved) and the camera works fine (not great, but just good enough) And a point for all new android phones: It's really upsetting that the mhl connectivity limits me from using TV-out, mouse & keyboard and usb-stick in the same time (as I was able to do on Acro S, N900, etc.) Sony PLEASE don't repeat the mistakes described above if you want to stay strong on the market...

Hi everyone, I was little worried hearing that many users are facing camera isues. Actually, I used this phone just for a day and did not face any issue so far with the camera. If there is anyone who knows how to replicate the camera issue then that would be an added information to other users. Also, thank you for confirming that the issue is due to camera settings. I've been using this phone since april 2014, i paid 180 eur for it when it came out alongisde a 2-year 19 eur/month voice unlimited 2GB internet carrier plan. I flashed kit kat 4.4 myself the day i bought it and i really must say it's the only piece of electronic technology i've ever bought in my life that's given me 110% satisfaction. Every thing you buy has dings, bumps, issues, problems etc but not my z1c. It's completely lag-free even though i piled on tonnes of useless aps, it works perfectly in every way imaginable, the battery is amazing, especially after i upgraded from an xperia ray and some older samsungs, it looks brilliant, all in all i think its the best purchase of an item i made in my life. im not really impressed by z3 compact specs so ill probably wait for the z4 to come along but so far, z1c is the best phone in the world for me!

Hi I purchased this phone in February. It is a cracking phone in all aspects bar the camera. The 20.7mp camera is utterly misleading and the focus on and picture quality reflect this. It can also spring a notice of "camera unavailable" when taking a picture and the only solution for this is to turn the handset off and on. However, it does it again and again... Great phone terrible camera!

Ok so far, there's still a problem with the camera. "camera not available." Sony released an update last week in my country (the updated 14.4.A.0.108) which includes the fix to the camera and... yup the problem is still there.. not always, but once in a while I encountered this error.

Pros: -Decent weight for me (not too light) -Responsive/quick processing (HTC is better of course, but no problem encountered here with Z1C) -Games never lag (including Asphalt 8: Airborne) -Camera good for bright scenery -Very good standby(screen off) time (with Stamina mode on) Cons: -Crashes from time to time -Camera start-up / shutter-speed isn't great -Camera focus under medium light (or dimmer) is slow and hesitant, under low light, focus can fail often -Dedicated camera button is too stiff and hard to press, you'd find yourself using in-screen shutter button always -Power drains fast when doing something (gaming / video / surfing), but I have not compared this directly with other phones... might be okay... -Xperia Keyboard is un-type-able... I had to download Google Keyboard to replace it... HTC keyboard is much much much better. Well, hope this helps some people with their decisions. In spite of all these cons, I still consider Sony Xperia Z1C very good for its price, definitely an above-average phone.

I still have an Xperia Mini, genius phone, would have loved to see something similar with modern performance. Mini Pro and Mini are living proof that compactness of a phone does NOT come from thickness, the current trend of making phones slimmer and slimmer has no practical advantages, fat short phones are by far the more pocketable ones, these things literally disappear in the pocket, so many times i thought i lost my Mini because i couldnt find it in any pockets at first try. are you sure you bought the real original piece from sony authorized dealer? i think you got a counterfeit version..or perhaps you actually got a problematic device.. i've been using this since May and still loving it..it does get hot n the camera did lag sometimes..but the details in all the images i've taken are very impressive (minus the blurry images cause by human error)..it's not a dslr level but it can actually compete with most of the top end compact camera out there.. battery life is average for me..i can get through a day without a problem with 3g on and constant social networking with a few camera snaps and a little gaming.. i've never reset my phone n the android had never crashed..it's better if you check all the apps that you've downloaded or installed, perhaps some of them got something to do with your phone crashing..investigate further before you blindly accuse.. the loudspeaker might not as loud as the samsung s3 as you mention..but you can still hear them clearly..unless you're deaf..sorry..~ please do some research thoroughly before you start babbling and accusing blindly next time..thank you..

I have been using this phone since May this year and what you are telling us is total distortion of truth: X1C has one of the best battery back up, doesn't hang and have a decent camera. The camera may not be as good as lumia 1020 but it takes decent photos. In my opinion it takes better photos than iPhone 5s

No i wasn't saying anything about display quality. Z1c will definitely hv accurate colors, great viewing Engels etc.. Bt touch input is definitely faulty in many units of z1c.. Search this on d web n u will find so many ppl complaining about touch related issues with their z1c. There r some videos on YouTube demonstrating this.. One guy was saying that multi-touch is not good as z1. He was also saying that the sensitivity of z1's screen is comparable to iPhone! Higher screen sensitivity (responsiveness) means faster app loading.. I hate huge bezels of z1 bt z1 gives unmatched performance!

The sheet can be removed but the glass under does not have oleophobic coating so you need to polish it with a special liquid regularly to keep the touch smooth and display clean like on iphone or BlackBerry.

Google removed the ability to move applications to the SD card in Android 4.4. Sony will most likely be adding it back in a future software update (feature is already available in the Xperia E, if I remember correctly, so we should do so it in the Z1C soon) . Until then, Sony has added a feature to move pictures, videos and music to your SD card.

First, this phone isnt that small compared to display size, and second it has a shatterproof sheet on the display that makes it dirty, hard to clean and uncomfortable touch input. Wait for Z3 Compact, same size but bigger display, no display sheet, noise cancelling built in, stereo speakers and what ever. Worth waiting for, no doubt.

Wonderful device. They say gorilla glass, but anyway its better to buy rubber case, there are lots of nice ones. Back cover is not resistant for scratches. CPU and RAM is more than enough, it never restarted or bugged. Even with FB, some games and Skype running in background. Only one disadvantage camera button but be pressed strongly to run camera. Probably due the waterproof protection. If you are not fan of monster screens, this is your choice. Buy a dock-station and you are the happiest owner.

Guys, 8MP (16:9) camera setting is still the best with manual settings. In the end? don't be fooled by a phone that has a lot of MPssssss... and so on.. What's great about the camera is its sensor. Outdoor shoot is superb (manual settings of course. Learn to play with it) I guarantee you that 4.4.4 solved most of the bugs found in 4.3 and 4.4.2. What I don't like is that there is no option for me on whether I can install it on internal or sd storage. Unlike other phones (Samsung, LG) have these.. why sony oh why?...

I own a z1 compact for about two weeks now and it really is the perfect phone. I have no problems with it. The camera is perfect and I mostly took pictures in superior auto mode(up to 8 MP). Everything is blazing fast and the battery life is perfect. It lasted for three hole days with medium usage. I heard that some think it doesn't have a really good speaker, but, in my opinion, it is really loud. Although, I mostly listen through earpieces and the quality is great. I still haven't upgraded it to KitKat and honestly I don't think I'm going to any time soon. Jelly Bean works great for me. About it's design, I can only say it looks and feels amazing. I got the pink one, and it really looks stunning. I recommend it. Wrote from my z1 compact

As a user of this phone, I'm not quite impressed with the sounds (default settings) using earphones. you need to manually choose an equalizer... and don't select Clear Audio. Go with Xloud in the settings. Overall, when I plus my x-mini speakers, it sounds great.

Theres no way the N8 beats the Z1c, you are talking about an ancient phone with a ridiculous slow CPU, very low res display at a 1997 level that cannot even be used for webbrowsing, the only ok thing is the camera and even that is too old now to compete with newer phones. The N8 is a feature phone by todays standards.

It's camera really means 20.7... It works as a dslr when loaded some apps... Its gallery view is perfect, smooth and awesome... No any games are made that couldn't run on this phone.. Never showed any problems while using 32gb card.. It's water is too much impressive.... I took it with me in sea also..... Nothing happened.... No matter soil is in audio port... All soil got cleared easily... It's the perfect phone for a persons who need smaller and best phone..... I love my z1 compact. Any one here... Don't compare it with any other phones..... Yesterday I got this phone as a birthday present but I'm going to sell it and keep my old legendary Nokia N8 running Xeon Belle. Yes the Sony is better on speed, battery, os, but I read some bad reviews about camera and photo album problems. And its not gorilla glass, so easy scratching, fingerprint magnet. Camera is just a megapixels trick to attract buyers, not impressive quality.

Yes it does, as I have one Both front and back cameras are good. Also so far ive had it nearly a month. It hasnt froze on me yet. It went off once by itself but it had overheated and id been on it literally nearly all day. I skype, i facebook, i whatsapp, i bb, you name it. The battery life is great to i can listen to music for hours take pictures. Phone calls are very clear on it aswell. And the camera on this the 20.7mp is good ive took a few random shots and shall do so on holiday. But yes its a great phone :) hope i helped

E8 is a totally different story.. At d moment its d highest specd smartphone from htc.. even m8 can't beat it. If u want a "mini" phone than the z1c is by far the ultimate. Not only it has three times more powerful CPU than one mini 2 bt it also has 2gb ram! Only 1gb ram makes one mini 2 vulnerable.. It's ram can get low and phone will hang. In z1c u don't need to worry about ram crisis. snapdragon 800 CPU and 2gb ram also indicates that z1c will perform better in future versions of android. And one last thing: U don't need to change brand.. Htc and Sony r d most reliable brands..

If you care about your brain at all, don't get the Z1 Compact. The extremely high SAR value made me return it after trying to use it for an hour. (Now, 4 hours later, I'm still not able to think clearly, thanks to the radiation.) If contemporary studies are to be trusted, buying this phone is like saying "please give me brain tumours ASAP". Other than that, the interface is kinda nice, what little I got to see before I had to turn it off. And, of course, the possibility to taking pictures under water is golden. (Which is why I bought it to begin with.) LG seems to have much better SAR values. MUCH better. (Actually, ANY phone seems to have much better SAR values.) My next buy will be a LG.

I have experienced the same thing too i.e low sounds from speaker after taking photos underwater. All i did was open dead trigger(it's a game that does not allow the screen to go to sleep) and i turned my brightness to 100%. Aftwr a few minutes, the phone started heating up and the water in the speaker got evaporated and now, everything iss back to normal.

Z1 compact would kick many asses, but on hardware wise only the processor, graphics, ram and battery. Camera wise, check out the many pics such as those by the pureview club, just to see 20.7mp's flaws in day to day photography(just that they will be lamenting everything non pureview or lumia and it can get quite annoying). Heck, my xperia pro has better colour reproduction.. But i am waiting for z1c though, waiting for the price to drop once z3 and the other compact launches. =P

Tips to avoid flash bleed occur: 1) Never using flash while shooting picture a long range scene. 2)Only use flash for self-potrait(selfie), a close range scene(about 3-5 meters away). 3)Don't cover up the LED while shooting pictures That's it for 'preventing flash bleed from occur' to your picture. To those who plan to buy Z1 Compact, read this. Have you previously owned an Xperia phone? If not you have no idea what you are getting into, this phone has a shatterproof plastic sheet on the display, which gives it a very unpleasant touch compared to phones with oleophobic coated glass, and it also scratches very easily and is impossible to keep clean, while oleophobic phones basically stays clean all by themselves. This problem is much worse than you think and after some months it will annoy you more and more, that is why i am telling you people to wait for Z3 Compact that will not have this terrible plastic sheet. Otherwise its a good phone but the shatterproof sheet is a dealbreaker.

Loudness depends on the file properties...Some video files are ripped in low volume some arent.Same goes for music files...Low loudness is smt you experience on every device if the file is ripped that way...The earpiece sound is perfect...Try to listen some Youtube official music videos for reference before you judge ;-)

Maybe he is from India or something like that, noisy environment. Z3 Compact will fix that with active noise cancelling, i think i will be getting one (glad i didnt go for Z1 Compact) but im afraid there will not be a 8mp 4:3 mode for Superior Auto, its too messy to always have to change settings in manual mode, thats why i am looking for alternatives from other brands, 16:9 is really not an option for me.

It's a great phone ,I got one in Nigeria it was wonderful but after using it a couple of times on the pool side ,water got inside and damaged the board (note I was being very careful when I used it ,I made sure all ports are well closed & I didn't go under water. )well when I took it to Sony,because it was still under warranty, they said what they mean by waterproof that it can be used only under rain.I also read on Sony blog many incidents such as mine.great phone but really waterproof as advertised.

I'm a bad user. :b 3)S800 is still a great performer for gaming after a year in market. And don't judge any other mini smartphone to have S800. 4)Overheating never been an issue for this device. Its body are cold and solid. Never got any complaints from me. 5)Charging rate is normal from 30% to 100% took 2 hour and 10 minute. Charging rate also won't get effect when using the phone while charging. 6)Camera still capture the best photo when selecting 8MP mode. 20.7MP just a cropped picture have less details. HDR mode is great. 7)Records video has great details on it but the sound record in it are terrible in quality and loudness. SteadyShot is recommended. 8)Flaps are just to common for me. I started from Xperia Mini(only USB), Xperia Acro S(all), Xperia Z1C(except 3.5mm). (Parts cover with flaps) 9)Speaker output have great quality but its like whispers to you. Just kidding:b. Its still decent loudness notification tone for me noticing it. 10)Vibration motor is powerful for me to feel its power. It's better to activate when you're in crowded area due to speaker whispers output. 11)Battery life in gaming has great endurance. Got a solid 4 hours playing Anomaly 2 and 5 hours of Minecraft. 12)Software stability is sometime fall of. Like recent apps button not respond and twitch tv hang. Gotta restart the phone. 13)Hardware button placement is perfect for my opinion. One handed can reach every button it have on this phone. No problem at all. 14)Recent apps update kinda annoying every 3 days of updating Sony's apps. But it's great as it improve the apps more and more. 15)Self-potrait(selfie) cam has this weird red saturation colour after taking a picture. Nope. I'm not a crazy for selfie kind of person. 16)Multi tasking has never have issue such as apps restart again when launching it. But I'm notice it will effect your stand by battery life. 17)Pogo pin is something else to me. It use for charging without opening a flaps. Using the phone while charging will effect its %/m rate. 18)Toughness are not attended to do on purpose. I accidentally drop the phone on a tar road about 8 feet height and dented its aluminium frame. 19)Plastic back are scratch magnet. I don't mind my fingerprint on phone, but with scratch, ruins its beauty. I recommend screen protector. 20)Sony center still recognise this phone. Because Sony has forgotten a phone such as Xperia Acro S(2 year). Maybe another 3 year? 21)Screen is a bit saturated in colour, but in black... not so good. Turning ON X-Reality... not so good. Cuz its over-sharpen the picture. 22)Screen is also not that great under light. Increase brightness is nothing. Recommend to turn OFF auto brightness and set to max bright. 23)Call quality is decent to understand a word. When talking through mic are not that good heard by the caller. 24)Network speed...? Haven't run a speed test before. But I only know is 3G connectivity is responsive. Wifi is depends what internet you have. 25)Low light capturing is good to compete the old champ, Lumia 920. Its has mind of its own such as low light to night mode. Ok that's it what I have experience using Z1C for the past 4 months now. Hope you'll knowing the device in-depth. I will only reply to anyone who asking me a reasonable question. No haters comment allowed. Phew, I have been typing this for 30 minute trying to get a reasonable topics. Although I will not always hanging in this opinion much. Sorry for the unorganised topic. Thank you:)

If u want a bigger screen with punchy colours so that you can watch EXO and Girl's Day videos better then go for Moto X but if u want a waterproof phone with high res camera so that when u go to a EXO or Girl's Day concert you can film videos or capture pictures in high clarity you can go for the Z1compact. And if u want to store pictures of EXO and Girl's Day in your SD Card it would be Z1compact cause it has a slot for SD card and Moto x doesn't have.

After I uptdated to 4.4.4 I have 2 minor bugs which weren't present on 4.4.2! Very often when I unlock my phone (with swipe unlock), a white screen appears for some miliseconds and when after these miliseconds the screen is on and I see the Mobile network section (from Settings menu) activated on my screen! Sometimes it appears after finishing a call with the power button. The second bug is the work of stamina mode. The life of battery is obviously improved compared to 4.4.2, but the application that I add to the list for being active in Stamina mode, actually are not active! At the first 15-20 minutes after turn off my screen, If somebody send me a message at Vyber or Facebook, I recieved notification immediately. But if I leave my phone more than 25-30 minutes, if somebody send me a message again, nothing happens despite of these apps are in the Stamina mode active app's list! As soon as I turn on my screen notification from facebook comes but Vyber stand "Trying to connect" for 4-5 seconds and then the messages come. With Stamina mode on KitKat 4.4.2 when I wake up, after night-long stand by, the notifications have always been coming through the night, not after I have turned on my phone! Have you got the same issue with 4.4.4???

Ok, things to consider.. 1. Loudness and clarity of voice is not handset dependent alone. You should also check it with your network carrier. But from my experience, its clear, loudness is average but you can still hear the person talking to you. 2. Screen.. I tried 3 movies.. from old (not so old) to new ones. Still, depends on the quality of the movie. All of my movies are in 1080p. Depends on the encoder of the movie. *The Mask (1995) *Transformers (2007) *Robocop (2014) I don't want to try cartoonish animated movies as much as possible like Kung Fu Panda, Monster Inc., etc. I want it to be more realistic. - The Mask: Wow, 1080p on a 1995 movie?! yep. I tried it and it's horrible on my Z1c.. lots of deepblacks! - Transformers: Good quality, and sound effects. no deepblacks so far. - Robocop: Night scene in this movie was great! you can still see details. Video playing like you're in a movie? Yes, thanks to x reality. But take note, you may need to set the brightness to maximum to appreciate what you're watching. 3. Flashbleed is caused by the cases that you bought somewhere. Not on the phone itself. Never had this problem. So this is a lame excuse. 4. Battery: Stamina mode works great once your phone is at 10%. We had several brownouts during typhoon for two days and it lasted me almost the same. (Well, without data of course.) 5. Don't be in rush to buy a phone. Think what you like and what your preferences are. :)

Just don't buy this phone. The flashbleed is so bad and the camera quality overall is poor specially indoors. Also You can't move apps to external SD card even on stock Jellybean which leaves you with the only the 11GB internal storage and your card can only be used to save media files. Samsung and HTC phones allow this even on Kitkat. Finally, Sony just don't care about their customers at all.

The battery life is outstanding and the cam pic clarity is awesome.... Loudspeaker is the only disappointment, that too only in noisy outdoors.... Man, i feel sorry for you that you can't sleep because of that simple question of yours... When you say unlocked phone, it can be used globally, it is not locked to any carrier. Rooting is definitely different. Rooting allows you to explore deeper into the system files of the android. You can edit/delete or move files. But be careful coz it will void the warranty and well, if you messed up with the system files, you'll get a bricked phone. Hope you can have a nice,good sleep.

When i'm still using 4.4.2, yes i have freeze/restart issues. I just updated my phone to 4.4.4 yesterday and here's what i noticed: 1. Camera front and back switching is much much faster. 2. No freeze/restart issues whatsover. 3. Less heat at the back when playing COC (Clash of Clans) or listening to music for 4 hours. For those who have not yet update their phone to 4.4.4, or no updates yet, just wait because it depends on the country and the carrier as well. 4.4.4 is much stable than the previous version imho.

Having just "upgraded" from the Galaxy S4 mini to the Z1 Compact, first impressions have been a bit unfortunate. Firstly, I use App Backup and Restore on my Galaxy to back up my apps to my SD card, inserted it into the Z1, installed App Backup and the Z1 doesn't even recognise the SD card. So what should have been a simple matter of transferring all my existing apps across turned into a very lengthy exercise. Apparently Sony is very picky about which apps it lets you install on the Z1. Not happy!

Exactly my thoughts. I've been holding my hand on getting the Z1C hoping Sony would address its issues on the next iteration. The 4.5" screen on the Z3C is the perfect size, and the S801 processor means better heat management, one of the reasons I sold my LG G2 was that it overheated. Finally the back panel with an anti-scratch coating and we got a winner. Battery should also be better on the S801.. not that the Z1C lacked juice.

I've had the phone for a week now...I was planning to get the Z2 initially but I was turned off by the huge number of reviews complaining about the camera overheating problem so I decided to get the Z1 compact which was my main target before the Z2 was announced. My thoughts are: Let's start with the cons: 1- Huge bezel...the phone is not really as "compact" as you think it would be. I feel they should have squeezed in at least 0.2 or 0.3 more inches for the screen. 2- It's a bit heavy. 3- External Speaker volume is not loud enough. 4- The flashbleed issue is really there...but I really can't figure out whether it's a hardware or a software issue. Sometimes you get nice photos with flash and sometimes they just suck. IMO it's not a hardware issue and I think it's a fault in the superior auto mode that needs to be addressed by sony. Anyway, photos in good light without flash are very nice IMO. Pros: 1- The phone runs smoothly, handles multitasking well. You'd normally expect that from a phone with those specs. 2- The main advantage of this phone is the battery life. It can last for a day and a half with moderate usage which I think is quite good. Final advice: 1- If want an elegant handset that runs smoothly and you're not too much into videos and gaming then get this phone. It's a great substitute for the Iphone if you're like me and hate to deal with the ios and itunes and all that crap. 2- If you're a hardcore gamer or like to watch a lot of videos then go for something with a bigger screen. 3- If you're in no hurry to buy a new phone I suggest you wait. Right now I don't feel that there's a "complete" handset out there in the market. I think Sony will fix the overheating issue on the Z2 in the Z3 so that should be worth the wait if you want a big screen phone. Also I think they'd release a new "compact" phone with a bit larger display and better specs soon enough...probably to counter the Iphone 6 when it's released. I had to buy the phone now for personal reasons but I'd advise anyone who's not in a hurry to wait a month or two.

Same as Z1 but smaller. Great phone. Have had it for a couple of months now and must say I'm impressed. The phone is great, fast, responsive. The BATTERY lasts over TWO DAYS with wifi constantly on and moderate usage, both web, app, and gaming. The phone is waterproof and showering with me daily with no prob. But first, if you want a phone to play games and/or watch movies, and all that, better go for something with a bigger screen. I've met quite a few iPhone users saying "What a nice phone you've got there." Design is great, smart. Display colors vivid, even in full sun. Recommend a case for the phone though, as the back panel tends to scratch after time. Would buy it again.

Assuming you just bought the phone, try to clear the Eco Mode Controller cache/data. Just go to setting > Apps > All tab > Eco Mode Controller > Clear data Then restart your phone by pressing volume up + power button for 3sec. :)

normal use, wifi on chatting on facebook, imo and whatsapp, regular apps updates, my XZ1 compact lasts for 2 days with remaining 15% charge but I normally don't go until 15% because the battery saving mode will kick on below 20% power threshold so my radios become disabled automatically. on moderate use, 1 day and half i never used my phone heavily. night time standby will only consume less that 10% of battery power. i have this phone since march this year. After update to kitkat 4.4.4, i have noticed some significant battery improvements and night camera performance.

Sony Xperia Z1 mini already has KitKat 4.4.4 :)Sony done well:) I like compact handsets from 4.3~4.7" display and it is the most powerful specs compact handsets. I like Samsung but no mini can beat this Sony Xperia z1 mini. I hope to get soon Sony Xperia Z2 Mini with FHD display.
