Sony Xperia Z5 Compact - User Reviews

  • Or maybe it's because you don't know how to use VPNs.

  • This phone won't let me uses 3rd party vpn from playstore. Junk

  • Been using this since a year after launch and I have learned that anything that involves a bit of processing or the AC Wifi will make the phone heat up so I stick with N wifi and not play games too frequently or have too many apps installed. Streaming videos or playing videos is just fine. The battery charges and discharges just fine. I think this phone is possibly one of the better in the smaller SONY footprint range of phones and still makes and recieves calls just fine. I'm still looking for a reason to upgrade and currently there is none.

  • Honestly I don't understand what users mean by overheating? Overheating happens to most phones, depending on how you use and how you define overheat. It's not unbearable that you can't even hold the phone. Even while charging, samsung, htc, all other brands do experience some kind of heat/warm and even more so when you have a case on. My laptop overheat too. I have been using Z3, Z3 compact, z5 and till today the Z5 compact for past 3years and this phone never fail me, Of coz I do experience some heat at times especially when recording videos other than that even while on charging there's very little heat emitted. This is a little beast which performs well, fluid and fast. Ringtones are loud and audible. To me it's a "POCKET HERCULES" and I find the size very comfortable. One of the best maybe even as good as some latest phones in the market.

  • Overheating is a very common and annoying problem with these phones!!!

  • Not water proof phone. Won't buy Sony ever.

  • Heat issues are typically caused by an overactive CPU, not battery. To reduce heat, reduce number of apps running on phone. Try (1) uninstall or disable bloatware including Google or Sony apps or your own apps and replace with 'lite' versions that make fewer demands on the hardware (2) tweak all app settings, including system apps if you know what you are doing, to stop them running in background, using data, constantly 'sync-ing' content, or otherwise putting unnecessary demands on cpu (3) install optimisation apps like Greenify that allow you to 'hibernate' apps to stop them running when not actually needed (4) install a vpn or dns switching app like blokada, orbot, protonVPN or DNS Switcher to stop installed apps (especially 'free' apps that use advertising or data collection to generate income) from constantly draining battery, overheating cpu, and using up data bandwidth. (5) You only need one optimisation app or one VPN. Do not install many different apps to fix your problem or they become the problem themselves. I buy and refurbish old phones for sale. I see many, many phones sold as 'broken' and 'always getting hot' etc that have about 10 battery saver apps on them, all 'free', all running down the battery and overheating the cpu, 50 'free' games, a dozen 'free' social media apps - you name it. I can often fix these 'broken' phones just by uninstalling the crud and tweaking the settings on the remaining essential apps. You can help yourself by doing the same ;-)

  • Bought second-hand from ebay for £35. Had smashed battery cover. Replaced with new cover I bought for £6. Now in perfect condition. I never use Google, tried to remove Gapps. Was unsuccessful. OEM lock unlockable. Could not root. Unable to install custom recovery or custom ROM. Had to compromise and just (1) not create Google account at set-up (2) disable all Gapps, useless Sony bloatware, and silence alerts (3) install ethical alternative apps (4) install Blokada app to stop remaining Google/Sony background activity from streaming data and to stop advertising infecting phone (5) install Asus launcher to use option to hide useless apps such as unused keyboard, clock, calculator etc (6) installed cute Sony Toucan theme - I admit I like this so much I decided not to resell the refurbished phone. What a difference cute graphics make! (I also own a Sony E1 running Android 4, KitKat - and the only reason is so I can play a favourite app which only works on KitKat but the phone only cost £9.99 so I think I can be excused.) Once Google activity is minimised, and Sony bloatware, this older phone (Android 7.1.1, nougat) is still very nippy. It gives good audio and video playback. Decent photos and video clips. Fast internet via wifi or data. And is a pleasant to handle, small, low weight, handy phone, convenient to carry in a pocket on hot days when you do not want to be lumbered with a bag just to carry about a bigger phone. I call it my 'summer phone'. After tweaking, with a few extra child-safe blocks installed, this could be an ideal first phone for a child - fits their smaller hands better. Or with age-related tweaks e.g. to increase font size, eliminate themes with poor contrast etc, a good phone for an older person - low weight so easier to hold in older hands. Or a daily phone, for all users, if you do not need a large screen for reading documents or playing games. If you pay anything up to £50 you are getting a stunning bargain. Anything up to £125 is reasonable. Anything more, you are over-paying even for a new device. Of course, there are people who refuse to learn about technology and just buy blind and they will no doubt pay the higher price out of vanity. 'If I paid more, it must be a better phone.' One born every second ;-) Don't be that person!

  • did somone try using sony xperia companion on pc developer preview mode what verision you get?

  • This phone is still great. It has heat issues but I could reduce heat using built-in Stamina mode. Find Stamina mode in this phone's setting. It will reduce CPU usage and your Z5 compact will be alright. I think this phone has the best exterior design ever.

  • What is your android version?

  • Also got the NTT DOCOMO version its perfect and very powerful

  • Using this phone in 2019. For standard usage, such as calls, emails, watching films and web browsing, it's fine. I had overheating issues out of the box with android 7.0, however after some tweaking and updating the phone all the way to 7.1.1 with the latest Xperia update, it now runs smoothly. I've not tried any games because I just don't like mobile games. I assume gamers won't have a good time with this device.

  • Dude... Yes 2gb ram but it is DDR4 for 2015 phone, it is superb only latest app eat to much ram. I can play pubgM smoothly without any lag(android 5).

  • Buy it, it is one of a good phone. Just make sure you use android 6.0.1. The cons of this version cannot run pubgM smoothly. It will heat to much and game became laggy and freeze. If you want to play PUBGm make sure to use android 5. Smooth although got some heat to but no lag or freeze. Android 7?, stay away from this version. Heat, lag, warm always but many features. Just share my opinion buddy. Hope this help.

  • If used only for Whats app, FB n Instagram, should be no problems. I also using this phone as my 2nd phone for social media and private contact

  • Extremely fragile screen and back casing. I have had three Xperia Compacts and although I feel they are a full featured medium to high end phone, they can shatter on just a short fall off a table. I have been a Sony Ericsson fan and loved the Active and the Go. These were waterproof extremely impact resistant compact phones. My XZ5C and XZ1C Shattered with hardly any impact. A great compact size but I cannot recommend.

  • Nah, it doesnt heatup that much with messaging apps unless you run intensive gaming or camera recording.

  • hi,how about heating problems?, i planned to buy it for whatapp, facebook and instagram only, but i'm worried by heat issue of snapdragon 810.

  • Assalamu alaikum, Sony Xperia z5c is one in the list of best compact phones ever, I am using it since last 5 months without lagging. Crystal sharp pics, may be most of people wouldn't like it in low light. Selfie camera is also good but only during a day not in night, little bit heating but acceptable, if u only use for calls or text or reading PDF books like I do u will definitely get 2 days battery timing, if u r a heavy surfer then it won't give u satisfactory result, overall Sony z5c is low budget and attractive looking cellphone, it was my reviews for mine z5c, may be my opinions and reviews vary from others, if someone get mind, or have opposite reviews then me, in this circumstances I just wanna pardon.

  • cell phone is good. but overheat problem is main issue...

  • Have a lot of problems with overheating and pocket calls. Not tried that on a phone before

  • It is not a problem I have ever had. In fact the XZ1 is likely to be the last Sony I ever buy because the side mounted button/fingerprint reader is one of the differentiating features that are actually useful.

  • Can anyone tell me if the power button being on the side is causing them to accidentally turn off the phone? To me it seems like a huge problem... you pick it out of your pocket and accidentally press the button.

  • It's overheating, it's known that Snapdragon 810 is one of the worst ARM CPU's you can get your hands on. Crashes often and overheats, only good thing to say about this phone is good battery life

  • Z5 overheat bcuz sd 810 I used 4 smartphone with sd 810 procesor they all heat heat like hell Just turbo 2 doesn't feel hot bcuz of his fat back

  • I really dont understand... I'm using 3 Z5c's too (proffesional, private, wifes) and i NEVER had any of those problems. Maybe you have Z3's ?

  • I have 2 z5c, one black (mine), one white (wife's) we both never had any overheating problem, phone is still going perfect almost 3 years later. No battery issue, no bluetooth issue, no wifi issue, no lag, just perfect.

  • I've never had the overheating issue. Mine is more than two years old now and I'm still happy with it.

  • Kidding? Got 3 different Z5c's, all have same issues. Overheating, Bluetooth behaving erratically, this is my worst phone ever.

  • Did you consider the XZ1C? :)

  • This is not trolling. I had this phone and it was still overheating like hell. This issue is not resolved properly in this phone or chipset. Compare that to e.g. XZ1 with its always-cold 835...

  • z5c was not so great overall, benn using Sony phones for a decade, get x compact

  • Aweful experience with this one. Overheating is one thing that I heard the most and I experienced that too. Just a few moment of filming is enough to make it go burning hot and automatically shut down. The body feels like cheat plastic and breaks very easily. The screen shattered after sliding a 30cm height and hitting the floor face down. Not at all the easy and durable option they claimed it to be. The speed at which it takes orders is another thing that put me off. See something nice you want to take snapshots of? Forget about it! It takes at least a few seconds for the phone to open the camera and get ready to shoot. Another second or two to focus and eventually take a blurry shot of the scene that's most likely no longer there. Overall, I'm getting more and more disappointed with what Sony is doing as the years pass. Once Sony was the guarantee that you get your money's worth, now ... it's just a gamble as they seem to care less and less about the quality and practicality of their products and more about useless looks.

  • Nonsense. The snap 810 in the z5 does not have an overheating memo. Surprised to see trolls still spouting this nonsense amount 3 years after its release.

  • Been using this phone for 2.5 years. Last week I bought xz2c. Really great phone but kinda bulk thick heavy hard to hold in one hand. Sold it and went back to my beloved tiny z5c. Size of this phone is unbeatable. Every thing else is not great but ok. I live in hot country and the phone still performing flawlessly. The only two things I wish to change is Ram and Internal memory.

  • If you have the time, technical skills and don't mind a decline in camera quality, install LineageOS to bump the OS to 7.1.2 with the latest security updates and get a CPU governor like Kernel Adiutor. Tweak the settings to favor battery like over performance and either underclock all cores or disable the BIG cores. Now you have a phone that will never overheat and will breathe new life into it. Honestly the major limiting factor of this phone is the 2GB of RAM. Yes this phone has it's flaws, but with a little bit of tweaking it is a cheap and reliable workhorse.

  • for you guys thinking of buying this smartphone, I gotta say DONT DO IT! the main reason is OVER HEATING.....I only browsing the web for 5min, and it started heating up like 40 degree..., the overheating issue really bug me ,I tried z3 compact before and the over heating problem exist as well, I will never buy a sony phone unless it doesn't heat like crazy...

  • r u from the future

  • I've been using this phone 4 years straight. It's my all time favorite phone. I keep it in my pants pocket, and at times I have to check to make sure it's there because of it's size and being so lightweight. I rinse my phone with soap and water when it gets grimy and it's been working as if it's still brand new. I wish it received android 8.0. I'll be upgrading to the XX1 compact in a few years however. Highly recommend the Z5 compact! Great if you're tired of having a 5-5.5 inch phone and you want something compact, yet powerful and has good battery life.

  • the z3 compact is extremely fragile

  • My one is still going strong after 2.5 years. No problems with battery life. I did smash the screen in it's first week, but it was replaced under warranty

  • Im not happy with it. Its supposed to be waterproof, yet, it broke when I got it wet. I got it replaced, and after 3 months, the battery just died, so I had to get it replaced again. Now, its overheating. Im not using it excessively, have 1 app open and it still heats up to a warning point. That problem is especially annoying when Im using it for navigation. I loved all the previous models, byt not this one

  • Without extensive use - no water - no dirt, the main microphone gave up after just a half a year and the main speaker makes dirty sounds. A no buy again - thaTs for sure. Before i had a Z3 compact, really good! Imagine my disappointment with the Z5 compact.

  • Wow, two years later still using the z5c. I did not predict this. This is probably the longest I have ever had a smartphone and I have owned the z1, z1c, z3, and now z5c. Why do I keep using it? Well, it still works great. Battery life still lasts all day. It is responsive and still feels modern. And the reviews of the xz compacts have been meh. But with that said, I think the time has come to sell my beloved z5c and upgrade especially with the price drop on the xz2c. It was a good run, I will miss you.

  • Imagine: You're driving, phone legally placed in its charger/holder dock with Google Maps navigating for you and an audiobook program playing an mp3 file for you, and then suddenly the phone is hot enough to burn you and the screen won't respond. The side buttons won't lock+unlock the phone. Maps has frozen. The audiobook continues playing and even removing the aux cable just causes it to continue playing through its own speakers. No combination of pushing buttons, removing auxiliary jacks or disconnecting chargers will help. Your only recourse is to pull over, wait for the phone to stop having its heart attack, and EVENTUALLY, reset your audiobook and reboot Maps. Maybe you're driving on the highway, and there's nowhere to pull over without taking an exit? I certainly was. This happened many times, seemingly at random, during my time with this phone. I have no idea what sort of phones these other reviewers have, but my Xperia Z5 Compact is (and was) the devil. From the very beginning, it had random bouts of overheating and unresponsiveness from using simple web browsers (even from using facebook). Every update made it more sluggish. The rear camera inexplicably just stopped working one day, despite no impacts or damage. And now, finally, its battery won't even last me one work day. Now, don't get me wrong. Because I apparently STILL haven't learned my lesson, my next phone will be a Sony too - as have all my previous phones. I have no idea why I am still their customer despite them constantly reminding me of why I shouldn't be. LIFE IS A WHEEL OF PAIN.

  • Guys this is a good phone performance-wise, but don't buy it if you live in a hot country, it heats up A LOT in summer. I live in Portugal and with temps approaching the 30ºC it becomes uncomfortable and slowish... It's a pity 'cause otherwise it's a good phone. The newest xperia compact models should have resolved this, I hope.

  • i love how its still a great phone even today, and yes i agree with you its definitely future proof

  • I think z5 compact is prettier, faster, newer so more future proof (Even though it already reached the end of software) and the price difference should not be too big hopefully

  • z3 compact is better, but less comfortable in one hand use

  • I'm considering buying an older but new sony compact phone, z5 compact or z3 compact, what is your opinion who is better of these two phones?

  • When I'm accidentally put my phone in water the effects was the headset is on even without headset putting on but after an hour it's back to normal. And the middle part of the screen I can't touch good.. But I can it until now..

  • I forgot to mention...I sold it for 120 euros......

  • In my house i do not have heating...i put the phone in recording hd mode and gets hotter than fukushima Not that much of a mobile...battery crap always plugged in

  • Help needed my z5 compact does not charge i did change chargers but no success . When i connect a eed line gets on screen brightens and then mobile goes off no charging sign i even continuly attatched with charger but no success.any help.

  • how is the battery life in nougate vs 6.0?

  • 2 years would over heat when apps are running, after the upgrade to 7.1.1 the camera does not work, ring tones only work on numbers you place on, blue tooth intermittently works. a lot of features were removed from when I got new. camera was good till upgrade or I call down grade. Theses problems others have the same complaints Sony says will have a fix for the ring tones.

  • Had mine for two years and no problems

  • Battery dead after a year and three months

  • Does it support 256gb sd card? Or just 200gb 🤔

  • I have exactly the same problem and it is doing my head in, as the phone os SO unreliable now including the camera, which seems to give me a green hue down one side of the image when using the flash. Did you find a cure for the instant closing down issue?

  • The battery gets bad after just a years and mine is unusable after two

  • Realy good Phone in the beginning but the batteri gets bad quite fast. Arter 2 years use i can no longer use The Phone without a powerbank conected and it gives upp randomly for no reason. The it can not be turnd on without a powersource even if it is at 90%.

  • Just a brilliant phone. I have had mine 3 years now. The battery is starting to degrade a bit. But have had no problems with it. Love the fact that you can attach a lanyard. I am a biker, and I have had it in the rain many times. Brilliant phone. I really hope Sony keep making these waterproof phones.

  • Great midrange phone. Had it since 2016. Now running LineageOS 14.1 aka Android 7.1.2. The battery *just* lasts a day, but I've had it two years now.

  • The battery is worn out and can't supply enough current. Get it replaced.

  • help, My sony Z5 compact white, touch screen misbehaving, am using 7.1.1, what can i do. am tired

  • Very good mobile device,, and strong Body.. Thanks to Sony Xperia Z5 Compact.

  • Still Great Device!!! 7.1.1!!! Benchmark (89K)!!! Usable Without Mobile Data!!!

  • Help needed in making fingerprint more effective, when I use fingerprint it say to unlock using pattern despite making so many efforts it does not fully unlock with fingerprint. At one of Sony forums I got a tip of pasting tape n using but that does not work either any solution please.

  • I'm using this phone for the last year and a half. The camera was wonderful the first couple of months, but it's like it's taking worse and worse photos as the time passes. It started having some issues with freezing for the last 6months as well. But I still think it's a great phone & I love its design

  • Great phone when I first got it, but the more you use it, and apps running, the phone gets wildly hot and kills the battery. So the claimed battery life takes a knock. overall its a great phone, using it now 2+ years and no real issue.

  • after 2 years of having the phone, i noticed even at 50%+ battery life it DIES. yes it dies and tells you with the icon drained battery but plugging it again shows the remaining battery .WTF? noticed it started flickering after the last update. the screen flickers whatnot and gets hot EVERYTIME! Sony has no say to this. The warranty's void and we seem to be in the dark. Sony telling us to buy another.

  • Using this fone fr last 3 days, feeling much relaxed that I managed getting this fone. I have used many cellfones but found this one as the best very good sound quality compact good cam in daylight I recommend this fone to anyone interested in a compact one. I did use z1 compact z3 compact x compact and now z5 compact, best is z5 x compact also not bad but the worst is z3 compact.

  • is there any security patch is coming for this device in 2017

  • I have this phone for 1 1/2 year and works just fine, no lag, battery keeps me for two days. The only downside, in my opinion, is the low quality of night photos. The screen also seem rather small these days, I plan to update to a 5-5.2 inch compact from Sony - hope they'll make one this year.

  • Agree 👍

  • Worst phone I've ever owned. Buggy since day 1. A simple task like opening Spotify can take up to two min.

  • 7.1.1 Software: Mobile Data (Not Working) Other Related Bugs Still Not Known, As I Give This Devices To My Friend......

  • what type of bug bro can you explain it ?

  • In The Past I Used SE As Daily Driver Is Super Snappy But Due To The Small Screen Size I Found It Hard For Me To Adapt The Screen Size So Ended Up Trading In For Samsung Smartphone.......... Apple Is Just Right But Not Too Small Screen Size Like SE (4.0inches), U Could Try Bigger Screen For Better PPI Display.

  • Device Is Excellent But Due To 7.1.1 Update There Is Some Bugs That Is Yet To Resolve.... Btw I Give This Device Today To A Friend Mine, Who Break The Phone That I Gave As A Birthday Gift....... RIP A3 (2015).

  • is the z5 compact still worth it for 2017\2018? at first i look at SE but the last news make me rethink buying SE or should i go for X compact? is the adreno 430 much different with 510 on small gaming screen? oh im using it a bit for gaming maybe casual and i use phone usually long about 3-4 years

  • Trade-In With A3 (16) Worth It! Very Snappy Second Time Using Sony Device ! Z5 Compact Is A Beast & Excellent Battery Life! Previously Used C3 For Sony, Mostly Samsung Device Used Before. Support Both Samsung & Sony (Double S)!

  • there is a process to change the "touch only" of any smartphone device. u need to carefully remove the upper glass. then apply specific glue with the new glass. search for youtube.

  • Go for Xiaomi Redmi 4 (4X) 64 GB, 4 GB RAM

  • Hi everyone. My z5 compact has got its panel cracked luckily its only half touch not working lcd is all fine. Please suggest me should I get just touch from aliexpres r complete panel. I got local touch lcd panel but it did not work. What should I do.

  • If you want to get a new phone (even though this phone is still pretty new) I think you should look at Apple because they are the only aside from Sony producing small flagships like iPhone 8, iPhone X, and the really tiny iPhone SE.

  • I bought this phone 2 years ago. At first, I liked it because I had the worst phone before this one. The battery life of the phone was so good in the first year. Almost 2 days of usage. After a few updates, the battery only lasted a day, but still fine with it. Loved the fingerprint scanner. It was so fast and always read my fingerprint. The phone was and is still very fast. No lag whatsoever. And now for the NEGATIVE parts of this phone.... The back cracked out of nowhere, twice, within the first half year. Secondly, the headphone jack port didn't work after a year. I had to get Bluetooth headphones. And just recently, the option of the fingerprint-scanner just disappeared.... yes, it disappeared after the update to 7.1.1. The camera is good when there is enough light but when you take pictures or video in low light, it's the worst. So much noise and not sharp. The Xperia XZ1 Compact is out and I am not going to get that phone. I like small phones but these are just too many annoyances which I expect will return on the XZ1 compact also. My advice, If you don't listen to music much and don't care about photos also, this phone is good. Otherwise, don't get it. Very disappointed.

  • Flash a nougat firmware:

  • You have to flash a different firmware. I think your phone was one of the displays or something.

  • any idea why my Xperia Z5 Compact E5803 only get Lollipop as latest version? I mean there are no new update to Nougat and when I do IMEI check on sony website they say Lollipop is alrdy the latest my device would have..

  • DXOMark for S5: 79; for Z5C, 87.

  • The camera is something you'd find in a mid-ranger. A Galaxy S5 blowed the Z5c out of the water when I was testing it on an ordinary document. The battery life was OK. Worse than my E4g, but the 810 is taking its toll. 6 and a half to 7 hours when I disabled location and data unless I needed them. I disabled the Sony apps (a lot of comments said that Movie Creator drained battery without even being launched) on my day of purchase. Also, my battery life stayed the same on every update, I haven't experienced any battery drain on Nougat. The fingerprint sensor, on the other hand, is pure bullshit. If your finger is even slightly greasy, you're better off just unlocking with a PIN/pattern. The first time I set it up it went good for the first week, but as time went on, either my thumb morphed its print, or something with the sensor or the power button went wrong. The biggest problem is that when you set up the fingerprint, it takes 15-20 snaps of your finger, which means you can't unlock the phone in multiple "finger positions" reliably.

  • Its a shame all vendor are hand in hand in cheating the customers they have flooded the market with 5" mobile until now, from 2018 foldable phone with compact form factor will be released to generate revenue if people start using one mobile set for 5-6 years revenue generation will be minimised mobile vendors are playing with consumers needs viz a viz requirements. 1. Remove user replaceable battery started by Apple so that handset will not last more than 4-5 years since apple hardware is much better compared to Android hardware therefore handset might last for eternity which apple does not want. 2. Remove SD card from mobile started by Apple iPhone 3. All new handsets difficult to repair post Samsung Galaxy S6 including replacing glass which cost 20% of the cost of handset is it really that expensive answer is NO. Since consumers have started repairing handsets for 100$ instead of buying 600$ new handset. 4. Introducing handsets 5" and above later bendable phones will be realsed which will be under 5" but can be expanded to 6" and above Samsung Galaxy X is an example.

  • Guys..there are issues in 7.1.1.. before updating to 7.1.1, I disable stock apps such as Movie creator(must), YouTube, maps, chrome, Play games, calendar, drive, gmail, google, hangouts, lounge, Photos, Smart Connect, and Spotify.. Then I upgraded to 7.1.1 and found no lags at all, working much faster than before.. no heat issues. But the sad part is there are now new features in this update :(

  • Cons camera on most other phones at the same price are actually a lot faster and clearer in focus and better colour. Very disappointed with the camera. Also not a fan of Sony messing with Android just slows it down and makes it more complicated. Can't wait for new phone

  • XC uses S650. 810 runs faster than 650 but also extremely heat...

  • You should definitely go with XC. Z5P won't get Oreo. Not sure which is faster between SD 625(?) and 810.

  • Unfortunately Sony Xperia Z3+, Z4, Z5, Z5C, Z5P, XA, XAU won't get Oreo update.

  • Planning to buy Z5c, but not sure if after Oreo release 2Gb of RAM, maybe it'd better to take Xc?

  • Does Xperia Z5 Compact will receive Android "Oreo"...??

  • really I did not accept ur word, I am using. sony z5c , no issue, I didn't border updating it to 7.1.1 bcus the complain , but I like the 7.0, I didn't. see anything fantastic about iPhone se, u not locky about the u got , or may be lack of maintenance. u guys the way u handle iPhone as if it some bow special, I don't really go for phone bcoz of praise , I go bcoz what is going to give me in return, I like htc for music, iphone don't near them, bcoz I am using both htc m8 and sony z5c , my friend using iPhone 6s+

  • is this phone going to receive Android Oreo?

  • Uncle eBay is full of Chinese imports. You get clobbered with tax buying from there plus a lot of the listings are really dodgy saying things like "note, this phone is not waterproof and not to be used in water". A quick look at the feedback and most have really bad feedback because they sell sub-standard clones or non-working phones.

  • EBay is your uncle. Look for highly reputable sellers over 10K mark but with lower than 30 total / 30 in 12mths bad feedback. Usually shipments from China. I have an E5803 in immaculate condition and the screen is phenomenal! Nougat is smooth as butter. The X only has 1GB RAM more and no 4K recording (even if the Z5C can only do 30mins of it), the screen on the X is highly polished so you "think" its better when it really isn't. the brightness is the same as well as the resolution. Personally I like the design of the Z5C better than the X with his wasted space across the top/bottom of the screen. Looking for a refined Z5C replacement in late 2017 or early 2018.

  • My Z5C is over a year old now and I have never had any significant issues with it. I can feel it's heat i my pocket at times but it has never affected performance. I had used my Z5C in assessing damage of the Super Typhoon Nina in the Philippines and It performed well under heavy rain. I respond to disasters and calamities so I have learned to take good care of my communications & documentation equipment. I have a Sony TX20 (including a Sony NEX6) which is a tough all weather compact camera. But while I always carry the TX20 in rough conditions, my Z5C is the one always in my hand. Good photos, great proven performance!

  • Glass back cover breaks easy. Phone gets hot even when using light apps. Microphone doesn't work right after some software update months ago, still not fixed!!! Worst phone I ever bought. Never again, Sony.

  • Right, but the problem here is that if your phone goes in for repair, Sony can easily turn around and say it is water damaged and not covered under the warranty as it is not IP68 certified. Also, the X Compact here in the UK is not very cheap for a mid range phone. Put it this way, the X Compact is selling for pretty much the same price as the Z5 Compact was selling for.

  • it is not waterproof certified so it would become cheaper than being certified! X compact is water proof, if you take out sim slot you will see water protection and also I droped it in toilet accidently and it didnt get damaged a bit! also the performance is much better and screen quality, you must see the screen quality in x compact, its awesome!

  • Nowhere sells this phone brand new now except dodgy Far Eastern imports. The only option is to go for the inferior X Compact. Has a better camera and 1GB more RAM ....... and that's it. X Compact is not even IP68 certified so that Z5 Compact was the last true mini flagship. Shame it's not longer available.

  • Uninstall junk apps you don't need and disable services. Check your average memory usage in settings, I bet it is near full constantly ~1.8GB. This phone only has 2GB of memory which is borderline these days on Android 7. But cutting down on the junk will make it a lot faster again, get it down to 1.4-1.5GB.

  • In some ways a great phone v. good front camera photo/video quality, but grinds to a halt in memory and storage and struggles to mount SD cards at times too. It also gets very hot and although charges quickly does loose charge quickly too.

  • I have a Z5 compact for last 18 months. Just a pleasure to own and use it! Has had no issues and use the camera a lot. Android upgrades were also easy. All-in-all probably the best smart phone I ever had.

  • worked great for first 6 months then very very slow - camera would kick me out as i take a picture and record a video etc, good camera but thats about it ! when it works

  • I do have a Sony Xperia z5 compact for 2 years. For 2 months I have issues with this phone. He s overheating, just browsing.. And works slowly sometimes. It is a shame for this powerful spec's. Maybe is the last version of Android, I don't know but I hope they fixed...

  • I had two Sony Z compact, with last one to be the Z5. Both of them after 2 years use (without any problems) have start having serious issues with battery drain, I have changed batteries, did all updated but problems weren't solved. I had change them. Really sad !!

  • I've bought my white Z5 Compact at 5th of february 2016 & till now by daily usage there isn't any issues with it Sony like.no.other

  • I already got the Nougat 7.1.1 update (32.4.A.0.160) and it is working smoot and fine. I really love the specification of this Z5 compact. Not always a powerful phone has to be bible size.

  • Sorry, I mean Xperia X Compact

  • Sorry, I mean Xperia Compact

  • what is ZXC!???

  • So the conclusion is Z5C has a better durability than ZXC right?

  • For me personally, I don't want a high-end phone with large dimensions, the Xperia Z5 Compact fits easily in my pocket, it's with very good camera quality and it's a compact high-end gear phone. Nice!

  • Awaiting for Dual Sim of Sony Compact Versions.

  • Its based on ur opinion. If u want better performance get XPERIA X COMPACT. If u need waterproofing, get XPERIA Z5

  • The X Compact is not waterproof, has an ugly plastic shell and looks worse too. So the choice is between: - a faster waterproof phone that looks / feels great and can make you toast when it warms up - an uglier phone that's not waterproof, doesn't feel as good but has a better battery life and an extra 1GB RAM

  • This phone definately is waterproof. Although I would not reccomend doing it, I once took this phone by accident down to 20m for 45 mins, still works fine.

  • Buy XPERIA X COMPACT is more worth it. This XPERIA Z5 COMPACT overheats because of the chipset so the newer one doesn't heat up like this. Plus the newer one have an extra 1GB of RAM, which equals to 3GB RAM. It is much more snappier and smoother than this phone.

  • worth if I upgrade my z3c to z5c?

  • I have been using this phone since January and I find it one of the worst phones I've had. It's very slow and it's not waterproof as advertised.

  • I have been using it for a year and I love this phone. The size and performance are just right. Upgrades to Android 6 and 7 caused no performance drops. It is perfectly usable with one hand (maybe iphones are tad better because of the rounded corners), has great camera and speakers. The screen could be a bit brighter, but it's not that much of an issue. It's okay for games when I want it, although I did not expect it to be. The newer version that is supposed to be its replacement (X Compact) does not seem to be a step ahead performance-wise, only some design and performance refinement, so not worth a swap in my opinion. Occasional overheating aside, everything feels right about it and I don't understand the lack of phones with similar specs. Instead >5" phones flood the market. They stretch the pocket and mostly have other ludicrous specs I don't care about. The only reason I would want a bigger phone would be AR/VR, but they are still not a game changer.

  • I hear you, I'd gladly pay a premium for a small 4.5" Android with flagship specs. Manufacturers are too obsessed with huge brick like slabs with massive battery draining screens. Apart from the Z5 Compact, the only other phone worth considering is the Samsung A3 (2107). I still have my S4 Mini too and the 4.3" screen is the perfect size.

  • very nice phone

  • Owning a z5c 1.5 years on - phone is still great. With its powerful 810cpu, Android 7.0 and 23mp - this phone is going to be relevant for years to come.

  • Agree! Maybe some minus is se front camera but overall is great, z5c front camera is absolutely georgeus!

  • I've had my Sony Xperia Z5 Compact now for a year and it has worked just fine. Upgraded twice without problem, now on Android 7. Nice size, slips easily into my jeans pocket. Enough memory and processor capacity for me. The fingerprint sensor work very well. Camera gives good enough images. Indeed a good purchase!

  • Huawei P10 is a nice phone

  • Shame on manufacturers i cannot find a dual sim phone with 4.5 inch screen and 3 gb ram even though i am ready to pay a premium i am stuck with s4 mini and i am waiting from F**ing 2 years to buy a decent phone. if iPhone makes a dual sim will switch to iOS i am fed up with andriod quality and manufacturers. Google will introduce some bug or remove a good feature in every new Android version to re-introduce in the next iteration to bring down user experience down so that they will upgrade when new version comes. Cheap tricks from google. Android manufacturers are flooding the phone market with big screen phones now so that they can introduce bendable phone from 2018 which could be extended to double the screen size when opened like a book. eg : Samsung GalaxyX therefore everyone has to upgrade again coz of the new Fad.That's how these manufacturers are/can sustain revenue growth. Truth is manufacturers cannot push for Hardware performance more than what it is now people are not expecting to watch 3d movies on mobile we can already see limitation on primary camera currently.

  • As of now, Sony has not released any upgraded (replacement) version release. If you are willing to change OS, the iPhone SE 128gb would be the only "qualified" replacement for the Z5Compact (minus the waterproofing).

  • Which would be a good upgrade for this phone?, I currently have one but I would like to change it, The requierements I have are: Screen size lower than 5.2 inches, fingerprint scanner, better cameras, specially the selfie one, and a day-long lasting battery. I will appreciate your answers.

  • just repair it using sony companion

  • The camera is awful no matter what resolution you pick. Needs to be rebooted weekly or loses signal completely (tested on two different ones, bought in different time frames and in different countries). I wouldn't recommend it because of the above issues, but I admit I've seen worse.

  • Anyone having fingerprint reader problems after the Nougat update. Keeps telling me fingerprint hardware has stopped working.

  • Photos pathetic. Whether I use 23 or 8 mp, compared to LG G4 (hubby's cell), I get fuzzy pathetic pictures.

  • Haven't used the z5 compact but I did have an iPhone SE before giving it to my mum. All the questions you ask (battery life, photo quality, etc) the iPhone SE absolutely shines in! The quality of the device is absolutely amazing and really worth checking out if it's a small phone that your after. As a current iPhone 7 user I'd even go as far as saying the iPhone SE offers the best iOS experience. But in saying that, it also lacks the customisation that android offers. Biggest difference are the os's. Pick the phone that has your preferred ecosystem.

  • Is there any possiblities tht sonly will launch this xperia z5 compact in dual sim version?

  • My Z5c just updated from marshmallow to nougat, the Bluetooth and WI-fi won't open and the battery was drained fast. what should I do. Please help..Thanks

  • Not very regular, but when released are very stable opposed to the updates released by the majority of manufacturers.

  • Grear decision

  • I use to have Z1c for long time till yesterday when i lost it. However, thinking about this one or Z3c.

  • Have a question, is the device getting security patches updates regularly .. ? Or are they going to stop with last update for the device .. ?

  • Lolz X Perf. has last yrs. Flagship SoC SD 820 and latest features of 2016.

  • Z5C has better camera than Z3C ..

  • Which is better z5c or z3 c for camera?

  • I am trying another route in my quest to find my next "affordable" phone and this time it is the Xperia Z5 Compact vs the iPhone SE. A third choice would probably be the X performance. I feel it is a sensible comparison 'coz of the (almost) similar sizes of both phones. Heard about some positive reviews of the SE. So, between the two phones which one takes better photos disregarding the actual megapixels and more of the speed, performance and post-processing? Which one has a louder, more clearer speakers sound output? And which one is supposed to have better battery life in terms of web browsing and standby time?

  • sony phones are excellent, i had to choose between huawei p8 like and z5c, i went with z5c, no regrets.

  • Thanks for your reply .. Now I got 2 questions from your experience .. what are the demanding tasks that get the device heated up? and how much heat are we talking about? can't handle the device anymore, have to be left to cool .. or just a bit warm, 40 degrees like? Second thing, the GPS .. you mentioned that it's not accurate .. I don't need 100% accurate, but like 95% not to get lost while navigating .. :) But more importantly, how powerful the GPS is ..? as In many locations in my city, if the GPS is not sensitive enough, my phone does not track me .. :( If you could compare the above points between z3c and z5c, would appreciate it .. :) thanks a lot ..

  • Smashed my z3c and had to upgrade to z5c. Owerall, I like this phone, but I wouldn't upgrade if still had my old z3c. z3c was good looking, small and handy phone. Advantages of upgrading: it's faster. Disadvantages: heats up when performing demanding tasks, had problems with mic (probably my fault), relatively quiet speakers. GPS is s*** if you want high precision. Actually GPS used to be quite good, but after some update last september/october it just became s***. HAd to buy GPS watch for my runs. IDK about battery life. Lasts full day if I'm not doing too much internet stuff. Love the size!!!

  • I've been eyeing on this phone since the announcement of the X Compact. But why is the price of the Z5c still high!? It's a 2015 phone, for crying out loud!!!

  • Really god. Great camera. Ok batterylife. Fast. And very Nice sice

  • If the Z3 is so much better than why are here? I've upgraded to z5c from Z1c and the only thing that I miss is the metal chassis and lollipop.

  • i just started using sony xperia z5 yesterday but i seem to have a problem in getting the mobile network, n it keeps on telling me no service, selscted network unavailabie, and mobile network is not available and connetion problem invalid mmi code how do i past trough thi problem//

  • Check news on GSM Arena update_fixing_xperia_z5_low_volume_during_call_issue_coming_next_month_sony_confirms-news-23903.php

  • So,i have z3. Way above the z5. Same thing with z3 compact. Better beterry life,no heating issues, great gps. Do not update to nougat.z3 family the best phone out there. Even today.i'm not sony fan boy. The z5,end x family are not that great.also over 'admired". Now i'm gona root my z3. Miui 7 in it. Best camera and baterry life.

  • I hardly hear the speakers after i update to the nougat... I didn't reset after the update... What should I do?

  • Got a z5 compact, basically good. Very handy and really compact, battery life also good. The only one thing that bothering me is the camera, it always took very long time to save photo image when I take photo with camera.

  • Yeah but the speakers bass flarts

  • Personally, I thought it was good at first, it runs very quickly and is smooth, but it is an incredibly fragile phone. One slight screen crack and the whole phone falls to bits. The camera quality is meh, so if you want a small power phone then look no further.

  • I need help guys. My z5c bottom part of the screen where the navigation buttons are, isn't working tho if i change the screen to landscape mode the nav button does work. So is the problem the lcd? I have this phone for almost a year and suddenly the problem happened one morning after charging overnight. Thanks for anyone who has answers.

  • It's not "after a year's use", it's the Nougat update! Battery life was already decreased when we got the Marshmallow one but it was bearable, with Nougat, percentages drop in seconds!!!

  • Battery life seems to be getting shorter after a years use. Touching screen with wet hands sends it into an epileptic fit and gets unbearably hot in a short time. Now the processor is seemingly slowing down and the bottom speaker got wet and failed.

  • Z3C or Z5C .. ? I know that z5c is faster, android 7.0, and better camera .. but z3c has better battery life, and does not heat as easy .. ! I just need some Owners to confirm or deny above points .. especially regarding android nougat performance on z5c .. and the heating issues on it .. ? Thanks in advance .. :)

  • My Superior Auto gives me 8.29 Mega Pixel image?

  • no it's full 23mp

  • Since Nougat update the bass thumping from the speakers is huge on my Z5C, anyone else noticed this?

  • whether the overheating problems on a compact Z5 occur at all colors or only Z5 compact white?

  • Offcourss z5c no doubt.

  • Is superior auto mode on this phone shooting 8MP?

  • Z3c or z5c which is the best performance?

  • Ironically I am writing through my z3, fantastic smartphone as usual from, 3 years old and still rocking, overheat?? Only when playing high graphics games same like all 2014 smartphones, or even less worse, self cracking?? Fake reputation like many.

  • The display on the s7, is awesome! so you might consider getting that? because the Z5's L.C.D. is exactly that! so if you don't mind having a slower phone, when opening web content? buy the Samsung!

  • Can cook your bacon and eggs on this phone as it runs so hot !! Seriously Sony, can't you do any better ?

  • Z3 was a failure of a model....overheated easily, self cracking screen problems, bad battery life...etc etc.....they are worth nothing now.

  • Got Android 7 on my Z5 compact but speaker volume is now really low at max settings, why??? Please FIX it ASAP Sony!!!

  • I have noticed that heating problems dissapear when the NFC is turned off, hope it helps you.

  • Why Sony, why? What is the point of upgrading to Nougat, when it makes our phones even slower? It was the same with The Z5 Premium, so why can't you release a reliable software update? Words fail me!

  • I live in Turkey. I've got the Nougat. So far no problem. This phone is only excellent. The heating problem can be solved by putting your phone under water ;-)

  • Thought I was getting the latest security update yesterday. Instead I ended up with Nougat. Smooth sailing so far :-)

  • Well I am on way home but system updates is showing an update of 1279.5MB download so this must be Nougat. Will get home and over wifi download it and see what happens. Anyhow what does Nougat really bring to table? My security patch is 1st Nov 2016. Had this since about May last year and been brilliant longest had a device.Have tried others along the way but it is phone sized, robust, powerfull, got a lanyard hole, proper shutter button, colourful screen, good battery, good cam, good video and can handle noisy concerts and just no problems. I am bored with it is only problem but unless I can get another smallish phone with features above then it can't be beat. Though of buying white Z5C as a change maybe but defo wanting new phone.Tried HTC 10,S6,S7 lots others but still big phones and tried Blackberry Priv which was excellent but to big and ached my hand it was so wide. MWC soon so lets see if anything smallish powerful and different pops up but I don't hold my breath.

  • Upgraded to Nougat build number 32.3.A.376. So far so good.

  • I got the nougat update yesterday. So far it's been great - smooth and fast. Nice.

  • I upgraded from the Z1c to the Z5c. My wife upgraded from the Z1c to the Z3 because she prefers the larger form factor. I upgraded from the Z1c to the Z5c because I wanted 4K video. I have been using the Z5c for nearly a year, and I can say that the usage experiences for both my wife and me have been excellent. I don't keep my phone in a case. Instead, I use a tempered glass screen cover and a similar plastic guard for the back. Not only does it look sleeker than a fugly case, I don't experience heating problems. I have shot tons of 4K videos, some as long as 30 minutes and all to my 128 GB microSD. The only time I ever had a problem was last summer at a waterpark trying to make a video on a 95+ deg day with the sun shining directly on the phone. Since my phone is black it quickly got too hot and shut down. Did I miss the moment? Yes, there wasn't any shade to be found and considering the conditions I wasn't overly surprised. I play all the latest games smoothly like Asphalt 8 and Simcity Buildit. The camera in manual mode is great. While it is the IMX 230 23 MP sensor, I have set it 8 MP (4:3) as Sony has optimized the sensor to oversample the image for superior performance at that setting versus 23 MP (4:3). If you don't believe me, try it for yourself. There is actually more detail in the 8 MP setting. Shooting in manual mode and taking the time to properly set the ISO, white balance, and exposure guarantees excellent photos every time. Sony still supports the Z5c and has promised to roll out Nougat sometime soon. People who moan or complain have no taste when it comes to phones and just follow the trend.

  • I want to buy z5 compact. E5803 or E5823? Which is the best?

  • I am still yet to receive the Nougat update. Is anyone else suffering with the same problem?

  • Its nice phone and grt performance and camra is wow

  • Very weird, my z3 is almost 3 years old, it has not a single issue.

  • I have owned the z1, z3, z5 compacts and I have to say at this point I am looking at a different brand because the complete lack of longevity on any of these phones has been more than frustrating. Z1 wasn't waterproof and had battery/heat issues. Z3 had durability problems as well as battery/heat issues. The Z5's camera stopped working after 6 months! And also ...drumroll... heat/battery issues! Call me crazy but if I spend over $500 on a phone I want it to last me more than a few months and not need to be charged at lunchtime. All in all I'm tired of having novel, shiny, gimmicky phones that can't even come close to enduring a normal life. Just so disappointing.

  • Yes, it does...

  • Sony certainly pull no punches with this beast, because it's as potent as a Jeremy Clarkson cocktail !!!!!!

  • Well done Sony, for manufacturing this pocket dynamo!

  • I should think The Galaxy S7's rear camera, would blow away everything, especially in low light, with it's dual pixels!

  • Did you mean O.I.S, or whatever it's called? and the sensor on the back, is actually 25 mega pixels, but it's 23 max, in actual usage , owing to the software!

  • EIS Mark, and yet with only EIS sony is offering the best image stabilization, go to YouTube and see.

  • It's a beast, and so is the Z5 Premium! Well done to the Japanese electronic giants, and keep up the good work!

  • How good is the camera? and can it compete, with the one on the galaxy s7?

  • I wonder why that is? unless they want their mobile division, to go out of business? and why do they use steady shot on their cameras, instead of proper optimisation?

  • I am using a 0.75 A old Nokia charger for my z3 instead of the two 1.5 A sony chargers that I own, yep, slower is better for the battery health.

  • Sony's problems are poor marketing and advertising, nothing else.

  • There's less issues with Sony phones, but the problem is, nobody's buying them, so The iPhone and Samsung fanatics are clueless, when it comes to how fast a phone is, outside of meaningless benchmarks, so the suckers naturally assume, that their phone's the fastest!

  • That's good advice, because a faster charger, fries your phone quicker!

  • Of course a lower amperage charger will be slower, but there is more to it. Many lower end phones only have a 0.5A or a 0.8A rated charger as these are cheaper to make and that's all these lower end phones need. But, these lower ratings are max output. Charging is controlled by the phones hardware/software and with so much fast charging these days, a current flagship will try to pull more current, thus pushing a lower end charger to its limits. This causes heat build up and can trip a charger off and on and eventually can shut down or fail. This applies to all brands of chargers, not just Sony, so there is no bashing here. Now, before you start arguing, all this can happen and does happen, but not all the time. Yes, a 1.5A Sony charger would be best for all Sony phones. But, many brands are now using a 2A charger which is a better option, especially with so much fast charging happening now. However, fast charging is another topic for another day.

  • How do you know that people with bad experiences don't own this phone ? You are just wrong there, with absolutely no proof. Sure there are some trolls, but trolls come here for fun because you ridicuosly brag, promote and sometimes lie here, in fact in all Sony forums about phones that you don't own. There is a small % of faults, errors, design flaws or whatever you choose to call it all phones/all brands. Let's rough guess at 5%. This 5% of people want their problems fixed fast and are pi**ed off with their phones, and with good reason. So they come here seeking answers fast and you call them Trolls. But, you don't say that your not a owner and quite often insult users or argue their comments as being wrong etc etc. Do you see my point here ? Trolls will go if you and other regulars here stop this nonsense, its really that simple. Yes, its good to pass on correct info and advise, but your limited there, as I will comment about chargers soon.

  • A lower amperage charger will make the battery charging slower, nothing else, plus read please my suggestion down there, i clearly said that i prefer a sony charger anyway, which is 1.5A, please stop replying randomly.

  • Huh, many people claims that they own a sony smartphone and they had bad experience with it, while in fact, they don't own it at all, what's the wrong when someone says that he don't own a smartphone but advice people with his good knowledge. Do i have to buy all sony smartphones to argue with the trolls on all sony pages lol.

  • Wrong, any charger won't work ! As some lower end phones only have a 0.5A or 0.8A charger which is too low for a flagship phone. A low amperage charger can overheat and shutdown.

  • No, I don't own a Z5C, therefore I'm not saying how great or bad it is or telling people its the best and go buy it or answering peoples questions. You think you a expert on Z5C, that you don't even own, in fact not even close, as you only own an ageing Z3. You claim that real life experience is the best, and you have nothing on Z5C. Why don't you practice your English in the Z3 forum. You should have some limited knowledge there.

  • I've been using Android phones since v1.5. Since last 10 months I have Z5c. I'm very happy with it. I have changed it to Z5 premium but immediately changed it back to Z5c. It is all about what you are looking for in a phone. Flagship specs? Yes, Waterproof? Yes, Small to fit your hand and pocket and operable by one hand? Yes, Powerful? Yes, Battery can last more than a day? Mostly Yes, Charging quick? Yes, Good looking? I have a white one and Yes, Heating? Unfortunately Yes but never made a problem, Camera is good? Yes (especially if you know how to use it), The UI is minimalist? Yes, Is it fast? Yes, Is it still the most loaded compact phone in the market? YES... So I think these were the things I was looking for in a phone, and I have it all in this little monster... I hope it helps. It is all about how you look at the things... Compare it in it's category.... Best Regards...

  • Hey there, this smartphone has a 86 battery endurance rate here in GSMarena, which close to perfect battery life. AND This video shows that this smartphone can record 4K for 40 min and some other videos shows more than 40, anyway, if you want to record video for unlimited time then use 1080p(FHD) 30fps, good luck.

  • And you don't too, so why you are asking??

  • Whatever, any charger works fine, the charging method is built in the smartphone, but i prefer to use Sony charger.

  • What is the recommended Battery Charger wattage output for a Sony Xperia Z5 Compact ?

  • You don't own a Z5C. So, how can you claim that its so great. Do you own a recent model flagship or are you just a dreamer here and liar here ?

  • Do yourself a favor...stay away from this phone!!!!!! First of all it is not a mobile as you need always to be plugged in!!!!!!!!! Battery life..two word joke Record 4k for the 3 minutes!!!!!! then phone reached sun core temperature and shuts down!!!!!!!!! And you miss your son's scoring goal and you want to have the designer of this phone in front of you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I base my opinions off my own experiences, they are not subverted by other peoples' opinions. In that sense, you could call my opinions frank. There is, of course, room for the device hardware to be poorer performing for some owners compared to others, such a situation would give rise to a skew in good vs. bad opinions. I have given, perhaps, more detail about my experience and history with Android phones than most, so I would imagine that intelligent people would value my opinion. Let's get back on-topic now, shall we?

  • so in your skiddie world, this android phone is worse than another recent android phone that catches fire and was bricked by the mfr?

  • Memory dumps happen way too often. Asphalt 8 (which is intense enough to use it as a basis for comparison) is dropping frames and stuttering at low graphics and this is on a 720p display. The phone overheats. I love the speakers though and the camera is fairly decent but far from great. The display itself has a huge red hue and battery can not last even a full day. I bought it after viewing the pocketnow one year review because I thought they were viable enough. This phone has been a major disappointment, and this is coming from a Sony fanboy.

  • Hey there, sorry, but i agree with anonymous, the z5 compact was the best compact smartphone until yesterday, and all users are pleased with it, so???

  • This is one of the worst, if bit the worst phone I ever had (and still have). Underperforming constantly and memory cleanups are hectic. I can only imagine the Nougat update with 2GB of RAM. They will have to get rid of the bloatware and I am sure that it will still not work. And the only reason I took this phone over X compact is the SD810 vs SD650.

  • This phone is a powerhouse, in a compact package, so there's no compromises with this little beauty! Well done Sony, and keep up the good work!

  • btw, this is a comment. But my original post is an "oppinion". There is a difference.

  • "pretty sure", I guess you've used a lot more Android phones than me, you must have used a lot of phones then! Thanks for backing up your assertion with actual discussion about the device in question. I posit that you are in fact the noob here. And please, name some other phones that send you advertising Notifications, so I can compare againt them. IMO it is the worst Android phone ever when considering: price vs manufacturer vs features listed vs the actual experience + the fact it was a 2015/2016 device. I've worked extensively (about a year each) with 7 Android phones, and less so with around 30 more Android devices. That is where I'm coming from. People will tell you Sony phones have great cameras. The hardware might be specified well, however the experience of having to force close the app in order to have the focus restored is, again, excruciating. The panorama feature is horrible as it will not allow you to take vertical panoramas (where Nexus and others do) and you are forced to sweep about 240degrees, you cannot end the sweep early. The software lets all of the great specs down. Switching between apps and handling Intents can often see delays measured in seconds, not milliseconds. The device spends a lot of time dealing with memory cleanup, as a result you will often come back to an app restarted as it got killed to claim some memory - I can only imagine the Sony apps are big parts of that terrible behaviour. Sony's tweaks to Android here achieve new levels of awkwardness. When Notifications are displayed they will often be reordered, shuffled, before your eyes like some kind of circus act. When you plug headphones in you will get a Notification or 5 telling you that you plugged headphones in...thanks for that. Did I mention the popups? Popup when you plug usb in, not a discrete Notification but rather Sony chose to command your attention to their shit UX.

  • AndroidDev, flaming this comment section with "worst android phone ever" in all caps makes you look like a n00b. I am pretty sure that the z5c is NOT the worst Android phone ever. Take your immature trolling somewhere else.

  • Who knows what the problem can be? Being at the initial setup dialog, no UI controls respond, but for ex. if you press Power button, this dialog reacts fine. So the touchscreen itself seems to be fine, physically... Also, after some time leaved in this state, message appears that the app Camera was closed. Software reset via Xperia Companion did not help.

  • Really?!! Okay please explain the 86 hours endurance rate.

  • It's a 6 months old phone. How come battery is defected? Just ONCE, JUST ONCE somehow it gave me a standby of 24 hours and a SOT of 6 hours - since then, it has been a 20 hours standby with ~3 hours of SOT for me.

  • Offcourss it is.

  • i am using a xperie z3 and i need to change, is the z5 compact more intelligent that the z3 i am using ?

  • i am using a xperie z3 and i need to change, is the z5 compact more intelligent that the z3 i am using ?

  • Hey there, what do you say about all of these posts down there from a lot of people thanking sony for this product and pleased with it??

  • WORST ANDROID PHONE EVER CREATED I bought this phone to replace my long used n4, because of the compact size. The phone is top heavy and slippery AF, within a week it had slipped out of my pocket while getting into a car and tge back glass smashed. The phone is horrendously laggy. Most everything you do will see excrutiating lag in opening or actioning an app. Upon onboarding Sony will ask if you want to use their What's New app, if you say NO the What's New app and other related, useless bloatware will commence ruining your love of Android. You will recieve Notifications about horrible Sony games and apps, those Notifications may even be sent to you in the middle of the night. Sony don't think very hard about their users. The phone app is the worst. Half the time when you open it to capture a rare opportunity you will miss the chance as you await the camera controls(including the 'take photo' button) to appear. After a year of usage I am writting this review having just missed aphoto opportunity because the camera controls broke, pressing 'take photo' did not take a photo. What a terrible phond and experience. The phone will NOT transmit photos over a USB cable longer than about 8cm...Sony seem to have failed to properly isolate electromagnetic interference in the USB input. You must use a tiny cable, which is super annoying to use and very hard to find in most parts of the world (easiest to find in Japan). This phone's build and software is amateur at best. I have a very low confidence in Sony as a result. It will take a miracle for me to sway towardsany form of Sony product in future.

  • Hey there, i am fine... You??

  • Thanks for your response , but i am not considering iphone SE for two reasons: firstly, no HD display, also, 4 inch is very small and screen to body ratio gets worse. so i prefer a compact phone from 4.3 to 4.7 inch, I prefer Android phones, then i have to choose between z5c and A3 2017 because X compact will not come to Qatar. I think i am going to buy the A3 2017 in few days, because i am comfortable with I9190 for more than 3 years.

  • The man wants to choose between the z5c and the Galaxy A3(2017), he said that he doesn't care about camera quality, and he looks like he wants a water and dust proof phone then you come here to tell him to choose the iPhone se....please explain....

  • Cores don't matter for performance. Same goes for megapixels and image quality. Xperia Z5 Compact is a little older high end and much better han the new but low end Galaxy A3. However, if you want a compact phone, I would look out for iPhone SE. It may be a little bit pricier, but still has a much better value because it is technically an iPhone 6s and gets much longer updates, is much faster, better camera and overall a much better phone. Only battery performance may be just on par (if iOS 10.2.1 gets finally released with the battery issue fix)

  • Hey there, what do you say about all of these posts down there from a lot of people thanking sony for this product and pleased with it??

  • Galaxy A3 2017 is released this week in Qatar. It is for 315$ however, z5 compact is for 274$. A fast comparison would be: same 2Gb Ram, both Octa core, both android 6, both water and dust proof, both have fingerprint sensor, however, battery endurance for A3 2017 is better. For me, i am not interested in the camera quality. I have been using Galaxy I9190 for 3 years and 3 months and it was a great experience. Also, i am more into Samsung, What do you think ? shall i got with the new phone ? any suggestions ??

  • The phone overheats a lot, A LOT. In fact, Sony baked-in to their terrible camera app, an overheating scenario whereby the app throws a popup before closing itself. You may be lucky, on a cold day to take 5 minutesof video but don't expect to be able to do that twice in a row.

  • Which means 8 hours and 20 minutes SOT (0_0), WAW!!

  • The battery usually drains around 12 percent per hour, with stamina mode activated!

  • does sony xperia z5 imapact has a data connection

  • Iam using z5compact 1month from now.... Ive noticed that the battery are gettimg better compare to the first few days. This phone is handy and with a high resolution rear camera, worth to buy even if its not newly released.

  • There's no heating issue and drain fast?

  • I'm giving this phone, 75 out of a hundred, based on the display, browsing performance, build quality and looks. The display is excellent, even though it's not full H.D, offering deep, saturated colours, which are displayed with "perfect" clarity, but it's not upto the panel found on The Samsung Galaxy S7, then again, nothing else is! The performance is patchy, but the same applies to any device, so that's no doubt down to the software! The build quality is good to very good, and the phone is a looker, so buy with confidence!!!!!!!

  • The amount of times the iPhone SE was mentioned in this Sony Xperia Z5 Compact thread speaks volumes... (besides the complaints I read here) Whereas in the iPhone SE thread the Sony Xperia Z5 Compact was not mentioned once except in GSMArena's Review... That's where I saw it when I was reading GSMArena's Review on the iPhone SE. Guess I shouldn't change my mind then.

  • 1 year after i use this phone, still no lagging issue, perfomance is great. I love this phone.

  • If you noticed something this is writing conversation not voice XD, overall, the great things with the SE is only the chipset battery, everything else either just good or bad especially the display it is disastrous XD.

  • Xperia Z5 Compact is my favorite phone ever, and I've had at least 1.5 new phones per year for at least 17 years. Mine has no heat problem. I carry iPhone 6+ for work, and Xperia Z5 compact for me. I want Sony to introduce a new COMPACT handset in 2017 with all the best chip, RAM, and camera specs! Until then, buy the Z5 compact!!

  • Z5 compact had a heating issues ???????????? I won't to know it!!!!!!

  • Missing the dust and water proof and finger print magnet! Sadly!

  • Defected battery, or old in age....

  • Hi guys, facing an issue. Cannot get past 2.5 hours of SOT no matter what I do. Any idea?

  • After using erricson for years and mostly all sony phones this phone is really very good phone battery awesome gameplay good sound good and camera

  • Z5 compact

  • Z5 compact or X compact

  • Z5 compact

  • Z5 compact no doubt, but wait! Why not the x compact it the best compact smartphone ever!

  • Hi guys n gals, I wanna buy either Z5 compact or iPhone SE...which one is better? thanks.

  • The battery goes hot when you use it and then it goes flat very fast

  • X compact

  • Mel, why you insist to mention that a3 (2016) between these two beasts, i visited the page of this smartphone, sorry but with the presence of z5c and xc it cannot be considered as a smartphone.

  • x compact

  • Can someone please help me? I'm trying to choose between the Z5 compact, the X compact, the XA and the Samsung Galaxy A3 (2016). Which one is the best? I'm looking for a good camera, fast, no lagging or crashes, reliable. Just for normal social media/email use, no gaming. Thanks!

  • I bought xperia z5 compact and it gets warm at heavy load, it has some cool features that iphone does not offer, but personally i would choose iphone se, because of its non-heating processor and camera.

  • Oh sorry i forget to tell you something, this smartphone is a battery beast!! the camera of this smartphone is the same one in the regular z5 which was the best in 2015, the speakers of this smartphone dual front facing one on the top and another on the bottom, they are not loud as htc 10 but very good, you may face some thermal issue same as most smartphones in the market if you are heavy gamer, and don't forget about waterproof feature... So no there is no way to choose iPhone se over the z5 compact, but why not the x compact it is much much better and i think it has the same price of z5 compact, but it doesn't record 4k and not waterproof.

  • Z5 compact, overall is a good phone. A bad point is that it gets very, very warm due to the Snapdrgon 810cpu. This CPU performs very well and doesn't cause any other problems. Some people find it irratating beacuse the phone gets so warm in your hands. It has great sounding stereo front speakers, but are a little low on volume for some people. Battery life is also lower than average.

  • This smartphone has not a single problem, be aware from trolls and lies.

  • Please some one answer me i want buy a small phone i have note5 but it's abig phone and use it in my job is very hard i want buy z5 compact but when i read many opeanion that says it have very problem now please some one answer me i buy iphone se or z5 compact?

  • Does Xperia z5C have Heat Pipe..??

  • Sorry dude, i stopped reading your article when i saw this ""better display"", the worst in smartphone history, especially when considering a big famous company like apple, iphones never been a competitor in terms of display.

  • X compact for sure, don't even compare, but keep in mind no 4k video recording.

  • Hi all. I need help choosing between these phones based on good camera, speed/smoothness and battery life. Which one is best for heavy social media and a bit gaming.. and which one heats most? 1. z5 compact 2. X compact 3. Samsung A3 4. Samsung A5 5. iPhone SE

  • You are not alone, the Sony quality issues are still severe despite fanboys denial. I changed to iphone and the SE is so superior in every way, even battery is better in real life use, much more powerful and yet no bad heating, better display (color temperature of current xperias is a big joke) and of course true premium build plus maximum control over app permisions and privacy. Finally, signal quality, no phone bests SE in LTE reception quality, signsl is stable where others cant lock on. As a compact phone enthusiast i can confidently state that there is only one premium compact phone on the market, the SE.

  • People are saying the X Compact is superior in every way to the Z5c except for 4K video which the X Compact doesn't offer. Have you all gone mad? No way I am ditching 4K video. Otherwise, I would have just kept my Z1c. And don't get me started on the Open Camera app. That piece of junk can't even do simple stuff like change the ISO. My quick test on my Z5c was way overexposed even after adjusting the brightness to the lowest setting. Clearly, camera performance is a combination of the image sensor and the software. I am sticking with Sony's app.

  • Hate The Phone. This is my 3rd z5c. And screen cracked again because of heating. Sony wont give me new Phone.i refuse to pay a third time for repair. Never dropped any of my Phones. Battery last 50 min when playing pokemon go. Phone is 3 months ord. Cracked when it got warm playing.dont but it. Its useless and Sony is not good doing business With.

  • I have been using sony xperia z5 compact for around 10 months now: Pros: 1. Compact size that can be used by one hand and hidden ina pocket with comfort 2. Very good camera 3. Convenient fingerprint location Cons 1. Software issues. Apps may crash regularly. 2. Terrible customer service. I had serious software issues with the unit that I bought and it took long time till they replaced it for me. I had to factory reset it three times and I had to do many reboots to the unit that was obviously not ok. I had to fight with the customer service to get them to replace it at the end. 3. The device becomes hot if used extensively

  • "feel" hahaha! I agree that the Z5 series is better than X series. Think about it. Why would Sony come up with XZ in the same year of the X series' release? I mean, "accidentally" drop both phones in water at the same time and you will instinctively save the X first. And even comparison to the competitors (LG, Samsung, etc..)per time of release, Z5 wins compared to X. I rest my case that the Z5 series is better than X series.

  • no becouse by just handling the phone in your hand you feel is better than the z5 compact

  • Generally very good phone. The GSM review pros and cons mostly reflects my experience although I have had two additional cons above and beyond what the GSM review noted. 1) the battery life is not as good as tested. It is not horrible but it is also not as good as my Z1 Compact with the same apps. 2) It can get temporarily sluggish for some unknown reason. Some users have speculated that the chip software is not well integrated but that is just speculation. It will be blazing fast and then slow down and struggle with simple stuff for 1/2 hour. My Z1 compact with the same apps doesn't exhibit this type of variability.

  • So what is the purpose of beginning the same fake story from your second account??

  • Contact the Telco that you bought it form. Or install a different Telco sim card. Either way is simple check to see if its unlocked.

  • I have a Sony Z5 Compact, which I've had for about 6/7 months. I want to know are these unlocked to other networks or do I have to get it unlocked?

  • So I've been the owner of this beauty for almost 10 month now. My only complain is about how hot it gets in a sunny day and specially when using demanding apps, like most games or snapchat e.g. Also having a strong signal from a good company so your phone doesn't have to struggle to connect using more energy than necessary to make it.

  • I was infront of an angry mob, they threw something at me dropped my Z3 from about 6foot it didn't crack, still I recommend users must use flip cover or back cover.

  • Can't we all just be friends and unite to the fact that this phone is better that the X Compact?

  • Dude, please, read again my post down there, these are only wishes, just WISHES .

  • Self cracking acreens IS a known and well documentaed problem. Do some research and find the real truth. There are even decicated web sites and FB pages about this problem.

  • Self cracking is not sense already, and don't call it a known issue, in fact this is only competitors and haters wishes, just wishes, anyway, and this post is from 8 November...

  • Got this phone last week, and very happy with it so far. Was a bit worried after reading the reviews but now that I got it, I like it. They fixed the few small issues I had with the previous one (Z3 Compact). They also added the fingerprint reader that is very conveniently placed on the power button. They also removed that annoying flat that you had to open to charge the phone, the usb connection is also now waterproof which is a great addition. I'm not a fan of a big phone and, for me, this is the best android phone in this size. Hope Sony continues making them. I don't want a massive phone.

  • No, he said "self cracking glass" which means the screen cracked by itself, for no apparent reason. This is a known and documented problem on Z2 & Z3 models Collision means some type of impact. Learn English correctly before correcting others.

  • Too good yet too fragile... I was looking for a small size phone with a front facing speakers and the Z5C was the very obvious choice. the performance was good and the finger print sensor did a great job, the camera was flawless and the way i could hold it due to its size gave me a full control of it , all and all it was so good. BUT In the second week, it fell and the screen cracked, I'm disappointed with sony BC i was a drop from less then 2 feet and it cracked so easily. SONY should do better. if you are buying it with a case or any kind of protection I say go for it, otherwise do NOT.

  • The screen is so durable, I accidentally dropped phone so many times, but no fatal occurred, just a very tiny scratch. FYI: every night I brought my XZ5C to sleep, and when I woke up, sometimes my phone end up at the corner of my room, sometimes under my body, but my phone awesomely alright.

  • Im planning to purchase this phone, just wanna ask hows the durability, does the screen breaks/shatters when dropped, hows the user experience thanks in advance

  • Everything works like a charm but batterylife is a joke... I did have a LG G2 and the Z5 Compact sucks compared to it.

  • I got this phone on July, yes Z5C is really awesome, great camera (on good light), fair battery consumtion, no lag, and light. But, yes this phone overheat much, i play dungeon quest for 15 minutes and the phone temperature raise to 43*C, but I dont really care, coz when i play game for 1 hour or more the phone temperature just stay at 45*C. Not a big deal.

  • He said that their screen's were cracked which means collision.

  • are u dropped ur z5c? i afraid because my bro's z3c never dropped, but one day its touchscreen act wierd. is there any problem like that on z5c?

  • I got Z3C y Z5C. Both get self cracking glass after six months. Touch screen stop working after that. Not recommended phone.

  • Touch screen issue presents only with some z1,2,3 series, while z3+,4,5.. Nobody complained about it.

  • is there any problem about the touchscreen? my bro had z3c and after 1 year its touchscreen was completely broken. Is there any problem like that on z5c? pls

  • I have had my z5c for about a year now when it began to not switch the screen on again after I had made or received a call. Big fiddle trying to get the call ended if other side did not hangup - air minutes dissappearing. Checked the proximity sensor in settings/about phone/diagnostics/test and found it was staying switched on all the time. I cleaned out the sensor window through the cutout hole in my glass screen protector with a tissue and it began to work again. The sensor hole is next the charging led indicator.

  • Guys phone is slow with Marshmallow and ram usage always more than 90% I had z3c and it was really much faster and smoother Really this phone disappoints me :(

  • How to identify original Xperia Z5 Compact phone..?? I brought Xperia z5C from Sony showroom..yesterday. I checked my phone Imei But I didn't get any information about my phone.. In www.imei.info I sent msg to Sony customer Center with my imei They replay me that my phn IMEI is for an original Xperia Z5 Compact.. But am little confused about it.. Does anyone have any idea abt it..??

  • What app uses the most juice? Try to disable google location history ( setting - location) Disable myXperia (setting - security - find my device) Disable adaptive brightness (setting - display) See if those make any changes. Afterward you can re-enable them one by one to see which troublesome service is. Some people also reported that disabling google calendar also helps.

  • How do I overcome overheating problems?

  • Now mine goes from 95% to 20% in 24 hrs. Good enough for me.

  • superb phone

  • When Android 7 for Z5C??

  • Yea get the S6 if u can live without a SD-card

  • It has Android 6.0.1

  • How come my Antutu score is only 51k ? I see people with 60k-75k Scores :(

  • update makes z5c battery last. update your z5c for longer lasting battery life

  • Go with the iPhone SE. Its like getting an iPhone 6 in a small package. Get the 64gb though

  • Resolition and size of Screen sucks!!!

  • whats ur os version?

  • Hi everyone today i got Z5C its os 5.1.1 version 32.0.A.4.11 now one update came 32.0.a.6.152 shall i update? now i feel battery also drain, pls suggest me.

  • i have z5c and i dont have battery issue, it last 2 days with normal usage and 1 day with few hours of games. its not slow or lags. no overheating probably you guys have fake z5c lol

  • 1. Check if it's new, not repacked by the sellers (second hand device). 2. Check device IMEI and make sure you are using the proper firmware (some sellers change the firmware because of selling issues). 3. Make sure it's not a defective headphone or the device jack had contact with salt (or juice) water before. 4. Check if something as ants or bugs (I know a situation) didn't get inside the jack's hole. 5. If you are using a cheap smartphone protector case be sure you have a large space in the jack's zone, not to block it in some way or another. I also have this device and it took me some to to figure it out... But that's the magic of SONY Xperia! All the best!

  • I was thinking on buying the z5c but there is a problem that is getting on my nerves and is the headphone jack not working properly, anyone has experienced problems with it?

  • Sony sucks everything about Sony is lame phone built in stock UI no way installing CM in this freaking phone, look at OnePlus they have a built in cyanogen OS operating system allow you to theme stock android without flashing any CM ROMs.

  • Mine is already Android 6.0.1 when I got it. I have heating problem, and the battery is awful. My previous Z1C was a lot better.

  • yeah, my battery drains. lasts 16h tops

  • I have been waiting for ages to upgrade and finally thought the Z5c would do...not too big!! ...and not an iphone. I am VERY pleased. nice size (a teeny bit smaller would be better) and awesome functionality. fine grained handling of apps for controlling power and data use. a beautiful bit of kit. over 3 days battery life doing all I want and need.

  • z5 compact xperia should buy or galaxy s6?

  • Hey guys, Which phone is better - Z5 Compact or iPhone SE?

  • This smartphone is perfect for me. Good battery, camera, waterproof, compact, fast charging, but no dual SIM. It's a 4,6 inch smartphone with a body thatÂ’s as small as that of a 4 inch which is same as my old Xperia M.

  • Someone is clearly dreaming if they think that the Note 7 catching fire and potentially burning down their house is an upgrade from the Z5c. Also Samsung has halted production of the Note 7 since even the replacements are catching fire.

  • ??? You regret on buying z5 compact because z3 compact was better, okay acceptable, but you want to sell z5 compact then buy galaxy Note 7, this doesn't make any sense, why do you have a compact smartphone and another before if you have no problem to buy a large smartphone like Note 7?

  • No, please not Note 7

  • After almost one year of use I regret buying this phone. My old Z3 was way better and faster, It was actually the best mobile phone I've ever owned. I'm planning to sell it and go for the Note 7

  • Have you experienced poor battery life ever since updating to 6.0.1?

  • Now that the X Compact is out, the reviews meh, and the design aesthetic barf, I predict that the Z5 Compact will increase in price as supplies dwindle. The X Compact is clearly a mid-level phone in a small and atrociously ugly form factor—a major departure from the Z series compact models which did not compromise on internal specs or styling. Probably the biggest disappointment is no more water-resistance/proofing. Poof! Gone in an era when Samsung, Apple and others have finally caught up to Sony. To be fair, Sony has taken a beating on over-heating and water proofing issues. I don't think Sony clearly thought through the fact that when a phone leaves the factory it may be water-proof, but after being dropped, bumped and abused, that water-proofing gets compromised, yet Sony is still on the hook. To their credit they replaced my Z1 Compact for free, no questions asked. As a result, I no longer purposely get my phone wet, but it is nice to know that a little accidental water won't fry it. This is a strange place to be in. Ever since I bought my Z1 Compact several years ago, I have only felt FOMO with the frenetic pace that Sony was releasing newer models. Now, I just feel disappointment. Looks like I will be staying with the Z5 Compact for a while. It's all good though. I love my Z5c and it really will take something special before something new comes along to make me want to upgrade.

  • I cant agree more with you, my wort invesment yet. Its not worth the money and the z3c its at least 2 classes ahead of z5c on every point of view

  • don't ever buy these phone!!!! I had the z3c, it was very good, but after I changed to the z5c I started to have many many problems - slow as hell, no battery life as sony said there is, and full with bugs. I have already made two factory resets and it didn't help. do your self a favour and don't get sony's mobile phones.

  • And so do I, great phone, I brought 2, the new sony phone ain't so good!

  • was a good phone until marshmallow update Do Not buy this phone until sony fixes these major issues . after waiting for 12 months for this i am very dissapointed . seems like sony is determined to lose its mobile buisines

  • z5 compact for sure!

  • well, i love this phone

  • phone is great... just cpu and gpu are overheating... good for like 3-4 hours of pokemon go or 2 days of normal usage lets say half hour speaking and 2 hour internet daily... battery could be better i guess... z3 and x compact are better here i guess but CPU is much more powerfull in z5 than in any other small phone.... its good to have a powerbank on longer trips

  • Review of device after using it for 1 week - Model - E5803 (US Version, Unlocked, Yellow) Price - $379 (B&H Photo Video, No Tax :) ) Background - I was using Moto X Pure Edition since Dec 2015. I wanted to move to a smaller/compact phone because I was tired of carrying around the Moto X Pure with it's huge 5.7 inch display. Plus its battery had started showing age, I had to charge it twice a day and sometimes even more just to keep it going on (I am an average user. I do not play games on mobile) Review PROS - Excellent feel in hand. It is very well built and the frosted glass back in yellow color looks very classy. - Display is very good, with bright and vivid colors. My only complain here is that blacks/black level is not as good as I had hoped. If this phone had an AMOLED display it would be perfect but I am fine with it as there is no light bleed in display edges and blacks are not as bad as other LCD displays. My Moto X Pure had terrible black color reproduction and heavy light bleeding from edge of display. - Camera is good if you have ample sunlight / light in room. It does suffer in low light. There is no way to sugercoat it. I mean it may be better than other phones out there in lowlight performance but my wife's S7 Edge shreds Z5 Compact to million pieces when it comes to Low Light performance. And yes I have tried with all possible settings in the manual mode and not just the Superior Auto mode that comes activated by default. - Same feedback for the selfie cam. It is very good when the conditions are optimal. Other times it is just meh. - Everything is fast and snappy. Apps load quickly and browser performance and page load times are better than my Moto X pure even though Z5 Compact has lesser RAM. - Battery life is amazing. It lasts me one full day. 100% at 8 AM and I am left with 25-30% at 9 PM consistently. This was my main objective of buying the phone, a good battery life and it delivers! My usage includes browsing Facebook, Instagram, 9GAG, surfing the web and listening to music. I rarely watch videos during the day on my data plan - One disclaimer though, I keep LTE off throughout the day and my phone catches 3G speeds (H+). I do that because where I work, the ATT network sucks and the phone drains a lot of battery searching for LTE. I switch LTE back on in the evening after work. I love the fact that SONY gives you the option to selectively turn off LTE and save tons of battery life. My Moto X Pure had that feature but it was locked in settings and if LTE was even faintly available, it won't let me switch to 3G or 2G if I wish to. CONS - When you are in camera app and open up the screen which gives you all the various filters and camera modes, the phone starts getting HOT then. I think it is because it tries to readily load preview of every filter that is on the phone. This is the ONLY time the phone gets HOT in regular use. I have not seen it getting hot in any other condition / any other app/game. - The camera app is really slow. And it takes almost 2-3 seconds for it to save a photo and get ready to take the next photo. It is just terrible. My Moto X Pure took photos with lightning speed. - Since this is an older phone (Oct 2015 I guess) and I got it now in Sep 2016, there are a ton of software updates that happen when you first switch on the phone. In all I had like 4-5 major+minor software updates in the first 3 hours of switching on the phone. I know I could have deferred the updates for a later time but I wanted it to be updated to latest 6.0.1 Marshmallow before I started using it. PS: The phone gets HOT during the initial setup and when it tries to download and update all your apps at once. All in all I am very happy with my purchase because I got it at a discounted price and in my favorite color plus the battery life is amazing which was my first criteria to buy a new phone.

  • Very good phone its fast and good for playing games

  • I thought the phone was the best but I first struggled with its camera and secondly cracked the screen and now its not switching on ,its dead.

  • its smooth and fast

  • X Compact is not water proof, Z5 Compact is.

  • Stay away from this phone !!!! bought it a year ago "2015".. Stopped charging after a year..because its not charging at all ..When I opened it i saw Humidity everywhere inside... on the battery and all stuff inside was Humidity and some water. All this without a reason... "be careful its looks like no waterproof or waterresist" camera is just fine not very good like the Galaxy s7 especially in the dark.. battery is very good!! gets very hot when use.. the phone is not fast stuck sometimes without a reason.. I bought galaxy s7 after 1 year and its Better in everything except that the Battery runs out faster and its weigh more and bigger

  • Xperia x compact is much better, in everything, both cameras, display design, no overheat... Battery life, yes i say battery life, once gsm make the new battery test with 200nits brightness for this phone, the endurance rating will drop very much then you will see. The only con is the lack of water resistance, everything else it is much better.

  • It is only water resistant.

  • I loved it for so long but since moving to Marshmallow the battery life is a joke, I use it to listen music, check chrome and whatsapp while work and the battery lasts from 9 am till maximum 5-6 pm, it's not worth it

  • This phone gets veeery hot when using certain apps. Will be so hot that eventually the glass back will crack, like mine did. The crack happened in my hands after 10 months of use, with no apparent reason other than material fatigue from everyday dilation/contraction caused by heat. It's not covered by warranty. You will get a cracked back phone that's no more water proof. For me? Time to change the phone maker.

  • You probably plunge it into water.. Its water resistant not water proof..

  • It is only water resistant.

  • Z5 is also a water proof??

  • z5c is the best. Look at the price, the features at that price, the camera quality and battery life. Z5C beats Iphone on all these fronts.

  • I used Iphone 5S. And it is so much irritating. The options button is hard to find, the OS is horribly designed. Android is much user friendly. Poor camera quality. Battery time is absolutely horrible. If i use the iphone a bit more during the day, then i have to recharge it around 9 pm before the juice runs out each day. The positive of Iphone 5s is the slim metallic body and no jerks.

  • My WiFi switches of and aeroplane mode comes on automatically for no reason. Can anyone explain this?

  • the phone is excellent, but the screen and camera lens can be scratched easily, unlike the CG before, just installed tempered glass and camera lens protector last night and noticed the disappointing marks :( should've put tempered glassed when its still brand new. Never doubted to purchase 2nd z5c for my GF :)

  • Hi, would you recommend getting a glass protector for the back as well. Thanks in advance.

  • Im a former iphone user (3g to 6 models) aswell as former sony z3 owner so fair experience. The z5 compact is up there with the best. Pretty heavy user, music, video etc and have always found the z5c able to cope. Occasionally the phone will get quite warm if i am multitasking and has once or twice reset itself - this is a year of usage. Battery is good and the phone is very quick. After using samsung, motorola etc android versions i also have found Sonys customisation of android IMO the easiest to use.

  • I have had this phone for about six months now. I would have thought by now that Sony would have released a successor and that I would be experiencing some FOMO. This, however, is not the case with the X Compact getting the 650 SoC instead of the 820. Therefore, hands down, this is still the best compact phone on the market. There are a lot of stupid comments on here complaining about how hot the phone gets. GET RID OF THE BULKY CASE and BUY A TEMPERED GLASS SCREEN PROTECTOR. This will not only solve a lot of the overheating issues but will look great too! Also, do yourself a favor and buy an unlocked version. It really is worth it. The software updates are much faster (if your carrier even pushes one at all). I have been running Android 6.0.1 for a while now. And Sony has already announced the Z5c will get Nougat, so this phone is still a flagship device despite being a year old.

  • Or maybe it's yours that's defective. All the problems you say never happened to me, only the "heating problem" which is expected if you are recording at 4K in the Summer. Even then it doesn't get that hot.

  • @Fade you should click onto your battery setting and disable the whether app

  • One of the worst phones ever... Software wise is ok but manufacturing process have so many flaws, screen tends to unglue, it heats up so much(some don't have this problem) screen go yellow overtime(on the sides again some don't have this issue) it is not waterproof or water resistant(that is how i lost my device) well apart form factor and almost stock Android there is nothing worthy on this phone, even battery life is bad. I didn't believe comments before i bought this phone so i do not expect others to take them seriously but i have to give my experience. I will never again buy sony phone. There is so much bad to say about this phone... Be wise.

  • Any tips for what I should do. Recently my phone has started to heat up alot. In every task I do. It drains the battery so much sometimes that it sucks the battery faster than the inbox charger charges it. It happens when I'm browsing the net. Gaming etc. Sometimes though it does it less than other days. Also some of my headphones don't work. I have tried the repair in xperia companion and it didn't work, Should I try it again?

  • You have to avoid holding the phone in a way that blocks the proximity sensor. That sensor switches the backlight off when you put the phone to your ear, so if you hover your finger anywhere near it, when on a call, the screen goes blank!

  • Useless phone. Massive disappointment for me when I am on a call and need to switch to loudspeaker or look for a contact it stays pitch black on the screen and everything I press doesnt work to get the light on until the call is over

  • Well...to be honest it is a good mobile have been using it from 5 months...however, do not expect it to be over the moon....it gives good battery backup my goes for 2 days with gaming and mobile data....camera in day light is awesome and in night it above average...all in all it is far better than Iphone 6s if you compare the price and features.

  • Overheating like a hell when I play pokemon go in just 15 minutes and battery drain faster 40% to 50% in just 1 hour in pokemon go except for that issue it's still d best phone for me just change my 3 yrs old Xperia zr for this z5c

  • 2 hours of gaming? That's insane for any phone to handle without overheating. I would say the Z5c has no overheating problems. Rather, it's users that have unrealistic expectations. I would be happy to game 2 hours on ANY phone w/o having to give my device and hands a break. :) Usually, I expect to game half an hour, an hour at best, before a small ventilation pause.

  • Been using the phone for two months and it has been a blast. Overheating only happens if you push the device for a long time, which is completely normal. Everything works fast. All features work well. Best android phone I have ever had, which was a humongous surprise to me after all the issues I had with Z1. I highly recommend this phone to anyone who wants the BEST small Android phone on the market, if you can get it from a respectable retailer. There is literally no other phone @ this size that is better right now. A fact.

  • Had mine now for 6 months and I love it, fast, reliable and a quite capable phone. Only con is that it froze three times and had to reboot, quite sure it's some software problem. overall quite happy with it.

  • Used for 2 months. Heating almost all the time, low battery performance regarding phone form factor (much less then Xperia Z3 Compact), nice camera.

  • I have used it for about 2 months, the reason I choose this phone is because its the best compact phone, and absolutely, z5c's spesifications is more than enough for playing the mobile games, if you r not the mobilegame player, the heating issue will not disturbing you, but if you like to use it as gaming phone, you need to take the phone to rest after 2 hours of playing because this phone will heating enough, after all, its a great compact phone For sony x compact, I didnt realize it will become the upgrading from z5c, except only at their camera, may be

  • Sony does not make waterproof phone , it's all fake I have lost z3c due to water damage .due to companie's fault front glass became loose .and I have used in rain got damage Plz plz do not by waterproof fone of Sony

  • Surely then if you put a case over it that will make it get even more hot?

  • I am using Z5C for nearly an year now, and am happy except a bit heat problem while playing games. Else it is a superb little master and is very handy.

  • I had Z3C and had my display replaced 4 times people... 4 times!!! Because it was peeling off. The glue was a cheap piece of ... I don't know about the Z5C but we will find out. Sony never again

  • It handles worst than the Z3 Compact...

  • It's fast and it takes great photos. The overheating is annoying but it can be managed by buying a case that covers the back of the phone. That's where it gets hot and this way you at least won't feel it. I never had an overheating warning but the phone slowed down to the point it was barely usable while playing games in hot weather.

  • I have full submerged, maybe 10cm or 20cm deep, but fully underwater. I had done this maybe 3 or 4 times already of the past few months. Took an undewater video of some koy fish in a pond. Phone is working 100%.

  • Hi guys, need your opinion plz, if you're familiar with this Z5C first hand. I'm thinking of getting one because it seems to be the most relevant sub-5" display android offer right now (think otherwise?), but i'm concerned about it's overheating issue and its SD810. I'm not playing games and my main use is phone calls, whatsapp, gps navigating, youtube video, email, FM radio sometimes. I see there are other options for sub-5" phones but most with under 2GB ram and i'd like everything to run smooth enough. From your experience do you think i should encounter overheating with such use? Or is it worth waiting for X compact with maybe SD820 (but probably much higher price...). thanks in advance.

  • Fake technology in my opinion: 1.Way too much green/yellow tinting and overall unreal colors... 2.Very eye tiring... 3.Battery consuming at same level of usage as Lcd (at least in my experience with Xperia Z5 vs S6)... 4.Many times i need intimacy when writing messages so i don't need good corner views. For me Z5c has the best balance in every aspect.

  • If you are only curious about trying iOS, don't but an iPhone5S. Besides, Z5C's camera is waaay better than the iPhine 5S's camera. You're a Sony fan. Stick to Sony.

  • In my opinion screen quality of Amoled is best.

  • No salty water never, be careful.

  • My honest opinions are: 1. Best battery time charging/consuming ratio for an android device. 2. Best screen quality for the 4.6 inch size. 3. Best cameras for such device. 4. Best sound quality speakers. 5. Best signal reception for 4G/3G/2G, wi-fi, nfc, bluetooth, gps. 6. Sweet design 7. It works under sweet and salty water (maybe my luck).

  • L2 english.

  • z5 compact

  • which better, Sony Z5C or Iphone 5S? I really want to change my big Z1 to compact phone.. I am Sony fan since my phone was Sony Ericsson in 2008 lol, but I'm curious to try IOS too.. Give me the reason too plz.. thx

  • Could you trolling it waiting for 10 seconds not just 5 min? Dear troller.

  • Omg same :(( i miss that magnetic docking charger

  • Sony xperia z5c or samsung s6 edge??

  • Z1,Z2,Z3, series some of them had a touch screen issues, but after z3 no body complained about the same issue.

  • Lol.. It's for decades and you think it's like that.. Nope, we can do almost everything while make a call, i can even browsing internet or playing online game while calling with one phone..

  • G4 ofc, unless you want to wait 5 mins to take a shot in manual mode when the g4 wins again.

  • Z3C touch monitor failed after 14 months. The 4.6" TFT got tons of complain on the internet, poor quality touch monitor. It is worried to be same on Z5C, it will appear after 1 year warrenty...

  • Thank you my friend mr pat

  • I've had my z5c for almost a year now and I love the compactness. The waterproofing is amazing and the phone has been extremely durable. I have dropped it a fair number of times and never had any significant damage done to it whatsoever

  • Please some one answer me. I'm civil engenier and i want use a compact phone at my job because use big phone at my job is very hard is z5 compact have good size and is it hard phone in drop ?

  • If the phone is getting too hot, TAKE IT OUT OF THE THICK BULKY CASE!!!! I have this phone and play Asphalt 8, shoot 4K video, and never have a problem with over-heating or even getting too hot. But I only have a tempered glass screen for the phone. No case. This is a great phone. My previous phone was the Z1c. The only complaint I have is I really liked the magnetic charging dock on the Z1c. I really miss that.

  • Why would you put it in a pool when cleary Sony said. Don't do that

  • This phone

  • Did you even read what he wrote? "non-removable"

  • which one has better camera Lg g4 or this phone ,,,

  • The overheating issue is related to snapdragon 810, every single phone has this processor is complaining of overheating.

  • The overheating issue is related to snapdragon 810, every single phone has this processor is complaining of overheating.

  • I bought this smartphone a few weeks ago. It's a jewel as always from Sony! My honest opinions are: 1. Few problems still are: 1. Software update is weird and android 6 is lower in performance (sound and camera - bass clipping and digital noise) as android 5.1.1 on this device in my experience (it's flawless). 2. It's getting too hot mostly when I use api camera settings (often under android 6). It's not a problem with me because I use a rubber cover and glass screen protector (this truly reduce warmth). The problem is when it shuts down by itself and some people having no idea what means having a Qualcomm processor device. 3. Sony must do something with lens. Too many problems with corners and focusing. For me it's ok and I can cheat this lens hardware problem, but for many 'first time using a camera' people will surely be a problem.

  • I wanted to like this phone - good camera, right size - but unfortunately I think it is the worst phone I have ever owned. Sony's version of Android is horrible; receive constant updates on the operating system - latest one deleted my email account; and it gets very hot indeed.

  • Anyone experiencing the camera is in use by other application error, close all apps running on background will fix it.

  • Then you should have read the IP rating properly. It's water RESISTANT, not waterproof. It can stand getting wet in the rain. Not going swimming.

  • It's not water resistant...do not put it under water specially when the phone display is on...don't waste your money on Z5 series

  • Do not waste your money on Z5 series...I bought Z5 compact, after only about a minute in pool where half of phone was under water, it's LCD was flickering and suddenly the phone went off...

  • I like the specs and size of this phone but if it gets so hot like others say, I'm afraid 45 degree heat will loosen the glue holding the glass to the frame.

  • Why? You can't buy battery and put it inside when there are not picture for you in manual?

  • Non-removable battery - means after 1.5 years the phone is dead?

  • is thats sound quility is like sony erricson wallkman phone.

  • This phone is awesome, great camera, great display, great performance, but this phone is ridiculously hot. I play some game for few minutes and my phone goes up to 45* celcius. This is first time I upset for buying Sony phone.

  • The phone is great but when you use an app for too long it heats up and the phone is sometimes almost burning. Never had this with another phone. The problem is known but still sony should do something about it.

  • Thanks

  • Phone is perfect! Compact waterproof, photos look amazing on its display, camera is great too. A more innovative device than iphone and samsung, all say thephone heats up. i never really experienced. camera? music? headphones? displays? its all SONY! Most trusted brand.

  • The fingerprint sensor is on the power/lock button. Press it once to unlock, then softly puts your finger on it again to trigger the sensor and the device will unlock.

  • NOT Recommended : - Glass scratched wihtin 2 weeks despite an existing protection. Discovered after that Son'y protection is to avoid glass shattering and not scratches ... not mentioned clearly . - Battery is a joke and phone heating like hell for any Photos. A total AVOID for this model

  • where is the fingerprint sensor? on a button or something?

  • Don't buy the phone it's a total scum!!! the camera almost never uses 23 megapixels and when it does the factions are so limited. it's slow and get's heated up really quickly slowing it down even more... to add to that sony claims that the phone has ip 68 which is far from trusth as mine got busted after i cleaned it under tap watter and the garanteed was voided

  • Make up your minds???

  • This phone is perfect with it's 4.6'' screen. I hate big screens. BUT, I need a dual-sim! Is there any chance for a Z5 compact dual sim?? is there any new phone coming with 4.5-4.7 screen dual-sim????

  • It may not be well known, but Sony uses the 23 MP in the sensor to oversample the image when shooting at 8 MP. The result is the 8 MP images are actually sharper than at 23 MP, and it is easy to test this and see for yourself. Of course, this is only obvious when you zoom in on the pic at like 200% or more. But Sony's implementation is very smart because oversampling is key to making sharp as tack pics. There is no one camera that is best for every situation. But I find my Z5c takes great pics. Of course, I only take pics in manual mode. IOW, taking great pics is more a function of the photog's skills than the camera and lugging around a DSLR just isn't convenient.

  • bought z5 reburbished €379 great phone quality feel about me camera is awesome battery really good so far everything u want in a smartphone

  • That has been on every touchscreen phone for a decade now it is so you cannot activate anything on screen, if you have been watching TV and see people phoning and screen stays on its because they are pretending to use phone they are not calling anyone. I often see that where they answer a call or make a call on tv and screen is still on it is poor attention to detail

  • 45K INR its main centric is camera, but do u really need 23 mp camera on a smart phone? Most of users use smartphone camera for social media sharing. Any smart phone with 20+ mp is total waste of bucks. at this price I can buy a decent androind phone and a marvelous DSLR camer

  • I want to also reply to my own comment and say that while the phone may get 'warm' it rarely gets 'hot'. And this is even when playing games like Asphalt 8 which have a huge amount of graphics. My wife has the Z3, a simply gorgeous phone. She initially got one of those wallet type cases for it. But the phone was getting too hot, so she had to take it out and now just has a tempered glass cover on the screen and no case. I don't have a case either. Instead I have a tempered glass protector for the screen and a clear plastic protector for the back. They were both less than 10 USD. If you have a big thick cover for the phone, that could cause problems similar to how wearing a thick coat in the summertime would make you hot too. Plus cases are bulky and ugly. However, my tempered glass protector is beautiful, resists fingerprints, doesn't scratch, I could go on. It is the perfect addition to my Z5c. I will never use a case again.

  • I recently experienced my first encounter with the phone wanting to shut down because it was too hot. I was trying to make a video in hot, 100-degree weather, but with the sun beating down on my black z5c, the phone was getting too hot long before I hit the record button. Otherwise, I have filmed 4K shots as long as 15 minutes without any problems. I think part of the reason for my success though is I have a 128 GB microSD card, and I configured the phone to record all pics and vids to the card versus the internal memory. To me the microSD card slot is one of the best parts of the phone. 4K video takes up a huge amount of space fast and there isn't a single phone out there that has enough internal memory to handle 4K video imo.

  • You need this to be enabled so that when your phone touches your ear it does not cut you off or turn on mute. Its best just to let this function be and wake up the screen when needed.

  • When I phone someone, the face shuts down/is off. Where can I change the setting so the "face" stays alive when I phone?

  • Terrific in everything Performance, camera, display, music, size, speed, everything Good in battery life The only con is the heating issue, it is not overheatting at all and nothing that u cant bear, but it does sometimes get really warm, occasionally hot. Month after month, i really started to feel frustrated from this, specially when summer came, to carry this hot in my pocket i really cant withstand anymore, may be i will get any mid-ranger to use till october and then return to z5c in november to carry in my suit, yeah why not!

  • Xperia z5 compact is better

  • have you tried pressing the power button? (should be a round button on the right side of the phone)

  • I have both Z1C dan Z5C. Although 8 cores, Z5C has lower clockspeed than Z1 compact, makes me (what i feel) longer time to installing app and switching multiple apps. Underclocking Z5C would be nightmare, i think XD. Can software patch possible to solve overheat??

  • I have just one problem with this phone. Sometimes when i phone the phone screen goes black. Does anyone no why this happen??? I cannot disconnect or nothing . I must wait that the person on other side put down his phone. Then my screen comes on again. Then i restart phone again and then everything is okay for 2 or 3 days again before doing it again. Very frustrating indeed. The phones software is updated to the latest there are.

  • Just wondering, is it just me or anyone else also get their BABY FINGER "PINKY" get sore/pain from using the phone? Btw, i love this phone a lot! Petfect size for me and lots of great features

  • Beautiful Phone. Beautiful user Interface (Much better than Samsung) and an Unbeatable Camera. May get a bit toasty at times when streaming a lot, and a very fast GPU, (Snappy 810) LOVE LOVE LOVE!!!

  • yes yes yes I did like the phone but I decided that I Iphoned my Samsung phone and the z5 is proper shocking

  • Great phone. Any chance of a DUAL SIM version of this phone? How about a stylus (similar to s-pen). I want a small phone and this is the perfect size. Plus removable battery.

  • hello my friends am now using sony experia Z5 and i dont know the phone will last long the moment i touch the phone i feel u have touch something

  • Root your device and find a software to underclock your CPU. I guess this will solve the overheating problems.

  • Alright guys, thanks to all of you, but what I was saying is that I Never play any video games with my z5c. For an exemple right now I used to do some snapchat and my phone is Burning... The app Cooler Master tell me that my phone is at 43.3°c... I send him to sony assistance it's not normal. Once again thanks to all of you for your help.

  • Hey Bro, i have a z5 compact and i haven't experienced this yet. I live Queensland in Australia, and it gets very hot sometimes. But however my Z5c seems to just sit in the 24-30 degrees area. I use facebook and Instagram a lot but the temperature stays the same around 27. But when i go play games like World of Tanks or GTA, it may get a little warm around 30-33. But what i have to say is that Z5c isn't the best choice for gaming but however it's an excellent all-rounder phone. If you want a gaming phone, stick to HTC or keep it simple with Apple. And NOOOOOOOOO not Samsung... The touchwiz UI is really crap. I have used a Samsung before, it lags sooooooo much after like 5 months use. (Galaxy S6). Stick with Sony, its a realiable brand with top quality but may be a bit pricey sometimes. (Damn! i have just wrote an essay)

  • SD 810 is a really good performing chipset but it heats up pretty quickly when it has considerable load like gaming streaming..... Samsung stayed away from this chipset because of this.......it gonna need a heat sink Like a pc processor to perform like a pro...

  • Device get warm when Extended time of streaming is normal. Do not use any cover. Nothing wrong with your phone brother......

  • Maybe your area has more gravitational force than normal.... ...

  • Battery is draining under 24 hours is normal. Whatsapp, work email and phone calls this is what I do with my phone... This is such a powerful device so it's ok if it's drains battery faster but it charges fast too....have good times with your phone brother... Peace...

  • Hello guys, I have some problems with my all new z5c,the heating is really important, yesterday he hit 44.5°c (112.1 farenheit) I never play video games, only listening to music with Spotify and do somes instagram & Facebook... I used to be on a z3c and I never had any problem with it. My question is : do you guys already hit that heat with your z5c ? Thanks to all of you and sorry for my english I'm french :)

  • One thing in sony experia z5 compact is my complaint, the water resistant 1.5 meters above within 30 minutes....what happen is my experia compact z5 got damage when i submerge it in pool. I question the capability of the phone, because is in the specification.why got damage when i submerge it?.,...

  • Did anyone tried to use it underwater?! I have z3c and sometime i go to swimming pool and take some snaps ! But did anyone get some issues with z5c underwater? Please respond as ssoon as possible !

  • I hope SONY will make mid-range price phone with specs like this: 4.5"Triluminos X-Reality display 720p, CGorillaGlass 3 Thin bezel, fingerprint sensor, front speaker, DSEE HX 13MP in the corner, GLens 1/2.3"sensor 1.5 µm pixel size, Hybrid AF, ISO 3200 video recording, 1080p @30fps, 720p @120fps 5MP in the middle 1.12 µm pixel size Marshmallow OS, Snapdragon octa-core, Dual Heat-Pipe 16GB, 3GB RAM & microSD USB OTG, IP68 certified Big Battery, Quick Charge 2.0 Omni-Balance design

  • This is not meant for gaming....... It's over heating when gaming... There is no solution for that... Except that this is an excellent choice...... Do not use cover too... It's a fashion statement plus it's helps to cool down quicker than being covered.......

  • Hi. I have one question. How to turn off system update? Because i just updated system and requesting again to update.

  • Does the snapdragon 810 heating issue relieved in z5 compact or is it still there?

  • I have this phone and I must say it´s a great one, it heats up a little bit sometimes but never as much as my old Samsung S6 which I had to sell because of that, if you´re thinking about getting a small phone this one is your option, battery is great, camera is good, internet browsing works very well, screen size is bigger than the one on the Iphone SE and extremely sharp (also this phone is cheaper). I have two phones right now my Huawei Mate S and this one and I have to say that this little one is my favourite.

  • I'm not a huge gamer, but love real-racing-3. Used to play it loads on my Xperia Z1. On the Z5 compact it's jittery. No idea what's up with that. Anybody else finding a problem with RR3? Perhaps its a coincidental game issue? (I think I wasn't playing at all for a few months during which I swapped phones). On paper(?) the Z5 compact does have some slower CPU cores, but then has twice as many cores - which incidentally should be plenty fast enough for any game. It's mostly down to GPU, which apparently is better.

  • Hi there, you can't compare z5c to these two brands, since there is big deference in size, you should compare normal z5, if you want a small phone you don't have to be puzzled, go for z5 compact.

  • planning to buy this phone, but I've hear some issues about overheating, what are other cons of this phone

  • Z5 compact

  • Are this phone good for gaming

  • Should I buy this phones give me suggestions

  • how is its heating temperature ,I am planing to buy between Z3, Z5 and Z5C they cost me about 250 USD,300USD and 350USD respectively

  • z5

  • Hi there, does the Sony Xperia Z5 Compact have a significantly better camera than the samsung galaxy s4 mini? I know the latter is old but I'm wondering if it's worth the upgrade for the camera (mp is not everything) , otherwise I'm happy with my dated but functional s4 mini. Thanks

  • It will be OK in 24 hours if WiFi is always connected. I uninstalled every unwanted apps which will also be good on battery... This is my work phone.though whatsapp in it...I don't use this for gaming. I have Samsung for that.

  • I'll say that Z5 Compact, because Z3+ have overheating issues, battery draining is much faster in Z3 plus. Also Z5C fits perfect in your pocket. iPhone 6 is too old model as I think. It will crash in price when iPhone 7 will be released.

  • Which is better, Z5 Compact, Z3 Plus or IPhone 6

  • Thank you for feedback. It turned out the phone updated to MM 6.01 itself :) And, Stamina is back on MM. I must say, this is by far the best smartphone I've ever had. And I've had a few - iPhone 4 and 5, Microsoft Lumia, M4 Aqua Response very quick, storage capacity good (+ I have a 128gB SD card for music and photos), HR music possible (yes, my songs in high-res are shown with a HR icon)... Battery - well, must see how it works out with normal use. Yesterday was a lot of updating, NFC copying of contacts from M4, work email sync etc etc so the battery drained pretty quick. And I've only used it for less than 24hours...... :)

  • For me I would choose z5c, because it's newer than Z3+ .

  • Guys I am thinking about Sony phone buying. Which phone is better this one (Z5 Compact) or Z3+ (plus)?

  • Format your phone first then download the update and update there will be no problems then. Because that's what I do and I don't have a single problem till now.... May Allah help you.....

  • It's so stable in marshmallow. I have two phones as my suggestion..... Galaxy S7 and Sony z5 compact.... Both are great phones. Now you decide....

  • Hi, Soshi how do u under clock your Z5C? please share.

  • Hello good people. Anyone who has upgraded his/her Z5 Compact to Marshmallow (6) and regret they did? I am about to buy myself a Z5 Compact today and I believe it is Lollipop (5) out-of-the-box and very uncertain if I should upgrade or not. I have understood that Stamina mode is very different on Marsh. 6 for instance, Other pros and cons?

  • Just on it's stamina mode. Playing with cpu voltage is not a good idea... You might get FCs and more problems

  • I underclocked mine (C. P. U) and now the battery is lasting longer than it used to be.

  • Overall i really happy with the phone, Hips of useful features, especially the very simple tap the screen to turn it on and off. And lots of battery saving options to without affecting normal everyday usage and syncs. I dont use any game apps and stamina mode always on. Heat issue is very minimal to none. If ever, to me only happen once it heat a bit after restart for minute or two after that never again. I have screen protector front and back and have casing on.. Not issue for me Heavy use for first few days setting up the phone, gps location on, bluetooth on, hours of music, installing apps, using smartwatch, internet use, youtubes... I am impressed the battery handle it all well and everything feel running smooth and clean. Would easily last a day I would even recxommend choose this than the latest 6s or s7 phones. Its that good! Very customizable phone will fit many everyday lifestyle settings

  • Why is z5c not available in India..what other options r there in 4.3—4.5 categories

  • What's your esperience about overheating issue? With browser, GPS or video, do you found some problem? Thanks

  • Amazing phone! Incredibly good battery, camera, compact and waterproof. Screen is superb! My first sony mobile phone and i very surprised. I think they make excellent apps and softwares, everything is well designed and think of for perfect quality! Even with its own ringtones. Unbeatable! I dont play games using phone anyways and my s7 edge i use before feel so cheap now compared to this. Background apps, blutooth, location dont feel drain my battery quickly like all phones i used before. Great job SONY! Thnz

  • Hey, sould I get the xa or the z5c on one Hand i would like the xa ´cos ist a bit cheaper but on the other Hand i want the z5c ´cos of the better camera/resolution

  • Only when heavy games.... And I am using stock 6.0.1... Go for it its a great buy.... I really like.... perfect in everything even in fingerprint reading... As I said this is the perfect compact phone available in the android now.. If a bit old then you can check out Samsung alpha.

  • It becomes hot only with games? And with GPS, and web browsing? It's important for me to know because I must choose between this and Z3C. Thanks.

  • I am using this phone from last three weeks.. It's a well built really good looking sexy compact phone brother.. Not meant for gaming. Because of SD 810 overheats....Rest is just wonderful... Go for it if money is right...

  • if we have dxomark for references about the camera n lenses, what about the sound can you all suggest trusted n profesional web for sound review?

  • Should i buy this g5c any one suggest if not why?

  • You again bro...Im telling you bro go for x lol...:-D go for x go for x...:-D

  • z5c better battery life better at taking videos and water and dust resistance

  • Can anyone suggest me should I buy X or Z5 Compact, and why? Thanks

  • Yes LED notification beside light sensor, maybe too small.

  • I think Sony Xperia Z5 Compact is very good, Camera is good, music is good, baterry life is very stronger, smooth and no lagging. i hope Sony give the new software to fingerprint to improve from only lock and open to lock apps and many more.

  • Stamina helps a bit in cooling down when being locked

  • I will wrote my experience with Z5c. I have this phone already 1 month. And everything is great. + camera is very good; + battery life is great too. I charge my phone after 48-60h. One time i charge sunday evening and next time was wednesday morning. - some times stays hot, but its not a big problem.

  • U need to download the xperia companion on your pc then connect your phone to the pc to download & update the latest firmware 6.01.

  • I am a proud owner of Sony Xperia z5 compact with 6.0.1. Anyone ever dreamed this phone to be running a nexus 6p rom... That could be a dream come true for me.......

  • Hey man, I cant seem to get the 6.0.1 marshmallow update on my Z5c. a little help??

  • Settings->About Phone. All info about phone is given there.

  • i have it...and the fingerprint so much fast

  • i`ve reading about "revision" of this phone, anyone know how to chek what version is the smartphone, sorry bad english, i hope you can help me............. other thing, what about the fingerprint reader, is fast as the iphone?? tks.

  • this is the best, simple (4 inc), fast phone that I have. Owned mid samsung phone in the past and very slow.

  • Yes it is top right on phone and about 2mm across not huge like Samsungs. If anyone interested "Light Flow" free from playstore can tweak your led to all sorts but it is not exactly complicated to set up there seem lots of settings to get it working to your liking which can feel like a drag.

  • Yes, it does

  • Does the Z5 Compact has LED notification light?

  • Had some updates a while back and my wifi went dodgy it seems to loose signal then reappear randomly,, so ,,time to update to MM. It is such a solid phone but what always amazes me about Sony minis is they cram everything in no skimping. Not only do they waterproof, they add top SOC and micro-sd. Then they give good battery and bright screen. They don't stop with cramming everything in "NO" they fit in a lanyard and base model is decent 32gb. Then it is a 23 MP wide angle cam with proper 4k recording (I have done 29 minutes but ran out of memory at time). This is a big feat of engineering and Sony never get any recognition for it. So what don't I like? Well I like design of Z3 Compact design better and cam could do better but that is it. I wish other companys would do proper minis but as only Sony do thats what I bought. Had black one, then yellow but got black this time. Still looking forward to next Nexus and return of Nokia.

  • I could say that this is a great smartphone. I bought it 4 months ago and it still doing great. + Good display, + good trouchscreen sensitivity, + great MUSIC (God, love the Music apps, Xperia Music Apps is truly masterpiece, guaranteed !). I had compared music apps from other smartphones, and i copuld say that xperia do the best!. It could tweak your sound to enhance the quality of your music. Love it + nice and loud speakers + Great processors + Great camera + Awesome durability. (water, pressure, free fall). Minus : - get warmer after 15 mins - 30 mins of using huge processing apps like HD Games (I'd say it's warm, because the i never feel the phone overheat or hotter than my previous phone) - sometimes it has small remaining RAM, (Lollipop issue, I guess I'll update it to 6.01) - Mediocre bundled headset, I expected to get Digital Noise Cancelling Headset which is cool

  • 5 months with the Z5C, so happy with it, great camera, great battery, very fast, nice and enough HD display, sometimes gets hot but not too much, I had the issue with the camera lens that become like dirty, but i cleaned the UV protector out and now it's just great again. Some falls and the frame got a little fissure, gotta be more carefull. Really a great phone, I love it.

  • just update myy z5c to 6.0.1 yesterday.. some changes i noticed: 1. stamina mode is back but not same as in lollipop 2. double tap on home screen to sleep 3. some new icons 4. fingerprint scanner improve a lot 5. ram management also improve ( now i got more free RAM)

  • go to shop buy and test two units there left it whole day while your wandering the mall the go back before closing pick the good one,, bcoz phone just like a car it might be good at your sight but not good in actual performance or it will getting slow in the long run of used....

  • I mean cmon dude, I own Z5compact graphite. revision 3 for three months now and I will say WOW boy is this a masterpiece machine. First - mine dropped a few times on wooden floor from 1 metre and so far nothing happened Second - it does get hot on super heavy apps like every other smartphone, maybe except super new ones and galaxy s7. Tho temperature stays maximum to 60 Celsius what is fine for z5compact Third - my God the camera is just best.fact.

  • If your phone has screen protector or tempered glass it might be blocking the proximity sensor. You better change it to something more fit for the phone

  • If it's true that the Z5 Compact heats up and slows down, then I don't think I want to get this phone.

  • I too am using Z5C for 4 months now. I play 5-10 minutes game and it become hot but not that much to make it a big issue. And this phone i suppose it not for game use. Else it is fine and find absolutely no problem with this beast. May be its your particular unit have some issues.

  • Sax, obviously you dont understand that the Z5c slows the processor down to make this device cooler, meaning your high powered, fast device, is not fast anymore, and has a overpriced chip in it since it is SLOWED DOWN. I will gladly send photos of my CRACKED rear glass, but if you do a 5 min google search you will see there are many people with this issue. Lastly, you sound like a SONY PAID RESPONSE, or a SONY EMPLOYEE. If you are, great, then tell SONY to recall all Sony Xperia Z5 Compacts before one kills someone with a fire...

  • Preach!!!

  • Most likely your statement is FALSE. You do not even own this device. Like most people below you that keep bashing SONY devices. I own this device for 6 months now. Let me tell you some things. First of all, I am gonna prove that you are lying and you do not own the device. You even never have passed by it or touched it. I'm pretty sure about this. SONY uses Snapdragon 810 v2.1. It is Qualcomm' s fixed version of 810. The other companies didn' t go for the fixed 810 for psychological reasons. Consumers are sheeps. Companies do know that. As long as they hear something, it's stuck on their head. Ignorant sheeps will hear "SD810" and their reaction will be "You can bake eggs with it". Even without personal experience on it. They heard it and reproduced it. So, it was useless for the companies to announce that all heat problems are gone. Secondly, it does get warm to hot when playing heavy games, as much as any other smartphone. I challenge you on this. Name the application or the game that you want me to run and I will post here a link with a screenshot of the temparature. Third, your device's back glass cracked on it's own. Mine's back glass has decided to go for coffee yesterday. Damn it! I had to work. I would enjoy that coffee too! P.S. Come on GSMarena. No. 5 Rule on your Posting rules is: No bashing - deliberately and repeatedly bashing the same brand 90% of the posts on SONY devices are just like this. You must find a way to verify the device of those who comment. IMEI info, receipt info, I don't know. It's getting frustrating.

  • What a terrible Sony overlook, not only did my Z5 Compact overheat, but it also cracked the back cover, while sitting doing nothing on my bed, which is happening to lots of people all over the world. When i tried to get it repaired i was told it is my fault and have taken it further since there is no damage on the covers. Worst is to fix this 810 CPU issue, Sony has slowed down the phone, meaning the specs on any website ARE FALSE. My Z1 Compact was amazing but now this is a piece of s%^t.

  • Is front cam f2.4 or 2.0?? Is it better the one found in Sony M4?

  • Why my Z5 Compact is too slow? from shop it was already with androd 6.0 , a few app was instolled from market ... my previos Z3 Compat and ZR was more better , faster than this !

  • Screen goes black when you cover the proximity sensor so you cant accidentally tap the end call...tha is y its normal ..

  • I also got same blank screen effect during calling. Software update didn't solve a problem.

  • z5 is faster,better cam,probably bettery battery,stero spekers,watterproff,so simply buy sony :))

  • If i where you bro ill wait for x series...

  • Yo! Bros after updatin to m version can you move the apps to sd card?...

  • Hi Sony Team, Expecting the Mid Range Priced Sony xperia with Micro Sim Slot (Dual).

  • I also got same blank screen effect during calling. Software update didn't solve a problem.

  • when Z5c will launch in india? shall I wait for Z5c or go with x serious... pls suggest

  • Why do my Xperia z5 compact gets heat very fast

  • I just bought a Sony Z5 compact and found I can not sync my facebook birthdays with phone calendar, I called xperia support, such an expensive phone?...WHY SONY?

  • Thanks, dropped my OnePlus X in water yesterday and saw the Z5 Compact on sale. Definately getting it.

  • Is it possible to get new z3 now? All sony center in malaysia run out of stock.

  • Can someone please assist, when I make a phone call my screen goes black and I can't see anything only goes on again when I finish the call, this is very frustrating as I can't do anything on the screen.

  • I would strongly recommend the Xperia Z5 Compact over the Samsung as it is waterproof, has a better camera, and is about to experience a price drop as the new Sony phone series is coming out in a week and a half

  • which one is better, z5c or samsung galaxy a5 2016 ? almost the same price, 2gb ram and both have a gorgeous body, except z5c camera has a higher resolution, does it brings advantages in the real world? since I like taking photos with my phone

  • The charger sony gives is a 1.5a. It's no the 2.4a 2.0 chargers are. So it will be slower. Just buy a 2.0 charger. How is the screen on time on all you owners?

  • Yesterday I bought my Z5c, for first time Im charging today. Start from 3%, clock was 11.30 and now its only 93% (14:14). I fink its not normal. But I dont understand, why, because phone is new.

  • Hi, but S7 is much more expancive :(

  • Everything is the same and some reviewers even found the Z5C to be better than the Z5 :)

  • Hello everyone. I just wanted to find out if any of you have any opinion on the differences between the Z5 and the Z5 Compact (besides the screen size, RAM and battery)? If you have no opinion on the differences, then you may ignore the rest of the message ;-) haha I'm torn between which device to get. Do you know if everything in the software/UI is EXACTLY the same? Does the 4.6" Z5c have exactly all the same functionality, menu items, settings, and options as the 5.2" Z5? (because I saw once that the Z1c had menu items and settings missing that my Z1 does have. It may have been that the Z1c was on contract through a local provider, while my Z1 was bought online, unlocked, from abroad.) Is photo quality exactly the same? Or does one of them have bugs/issues that the other one does not? Thank you kindly.

  • Google the processor that's used in the Z5, it was known for over heating issues BEFORE Sony used it in there Z5. As i said, unless i was lucky enough to recieve two faulty phones, i believe the Z5C suffers from having less ram & too small a chassis resulting in heat issues. Maybe the Z5 will be a better phone thanks to that 1gb extra ram & more room for heat sinks? So far, the S7 smashes the Z5C in all areas. Every thing is so much faster. The photos look heaps better too, google comparisons between the two, the Z5C looks washed out compared to the rich colours on the S7. I think anyone would be crazy to go for a Z5 after my experiences.

  • I've had this phone for 6 months now, and its going great. The battery life, incredible camera, compact size, and fast performance make this the best phone I've ever had.

  • hi im using this device for 40 days alll fast and good speakrer weak... but heatiing problem have few cons when the phone heat the perfomance drop upto 80%!! less 40cellcuous alrddy 40% less (every 810\430 cheap on only Z5 also Htc M9) that why some people say 808 is better even lower cpu\gpu, if wont play more 4-5mines mid\heavy games it will be good

  • I am also planing to buy S7 but will buy Next year right now it out of my budget... so I want phone for this year I am planing to buy between....Z3 (original 5.2''), Z5C or Z5(original 5.2'')... help me Heating of phone really bothers me a lot I have bought T-mobile varient of Z3 but return it becuse of serious heating issues and no freedom of an unlocked version.... and also tell me about camera quality as I am camera guy

  • I use mine alot & I charge it twice a day. I have been FB'ing, Web surfing & listening to music for the last 45 mins on the train & i'm down to 73%. In comparison, my old iPhone5 would've been on 20 some thing by now. Lol But the whole "2 day" battery life that was advertised, seems like a myth, even if you use the battery saving features.

  • To me, it seems like the Z5C really suffers by only having 2Gb of Ram. That & being crammed into a smaller chassis are the only things I can think of that are causing all the problems I have had with 2 different Z5C's. I can't comment on the heat differences, my Z5C gets pretty hot at times, but after my experiences, I would say steer clear of the Compact, unless you really MUST have a Z5 & the size is that important to you. Or be like every one else & buy a Samsung. I just upgraded (hopefully) to a Samsung S7, but haven't used it yet, so can't give opinions. On paper though & in reviews I've read, the S7 beats the Z5 in nearly everything, so by that alone, the S7 will slaughter the Z5C. A few guys at work have all bought Samsungs & the S7 looks great.

  • Although it's not a troll. I've had the Z5C since it's release in Australia. Last night I finally bought a Samsung S7. Haven't opened it yet & i'm writing this on my Z5C... But I'm so over this phone. The first one lasted 6 days. It lagged, crashed, over heated & shut itself down. Fair enough, teething problems, a lemon, just bad luck... I chucked a wobbly & got a brand new replacement. Now 6 months later, I've been fighting with my Telco about how dodgy the Z5C is. Apparently it's my fault, my Sd Card must be faulty, it must be corrupt data on my phone, it's they way I have it set up... Etc. But the fact of the matter is, every day I need to clear the cache because apps stop working, it runs hot, notlike my other one, but it gets hot, it crashes, in all sorts of ways & when it does it spits up "blah blah blah has unfortunately stopped working" with an option to report, wait or close. In the last few weeks it has started randomly turning itself off & restarting for no reason, one of those times failing to restart & I had to do a hard reset. In every day use, the phone will lag & struggle every now & then, for no apparent reason. Games I use to play on my IPhone5, seem to struggle on this, with lag & jerks in frame rate, or huge loading times, then if someone sms's me or calls while I'm playing, the phone freaks out, lags to an almost complete stop, or just crashes. I like the phone, but it would be fantastic if it ran properly. Hopefully my Samsung S7 experience will be better, cause so far, my biggest regret is leaving Apple.

  • Nice work Sony, using it 6 months and happy with it. So far I dont even thinking to change phone.

  • I am confused between the z5c and ghe iphone se ..they are both really fast and have good camera but my only fear is that the se might be a little small in screen size

  • its a little ugly right??

  • z5 compact or z3 ?

  • i think this one is good but i notice while in my hand its heats up but not overheat. its normal, every android has the same issue especially on heating. if you really want that not heat up go to basic phone. to make sure that every android in a safe condition we must control first our self to NOT abuse them. overall, i guess, i luv this phone.

  • And, battery life is better on Compact.

  • Hi! Can somebody help me choose between Z5C and Z5... I like the small (that is the smaller size of Compact) but I do have real need for dual sim model in Z5, and I have to admit that I'm not big on plastic sides of Compact, but I could live that. So it boils down to heating. Does Compact heat less then Z5. Thanks! P.S. Only this two phones are of interest to me and the price between these two doesn't play a role.

  • Is x series new lock screen and wallpapers included in the z5 compact marshmallow update?

  • Is it just me or is my camera lens really easily scratched?

  • Preach Brother!

  • Glad to hear that.. Z5c is awesome

  • I put my one into peanut-butter. And it didn't work neither, please HELP! lol

  • This is one of the best camera

  • Stay away from the z3, the glass back plate is super fragile, which sucked as it was also slippery, but otherwise i really loved what it could do as a phone

  • hi every body...Does the camera noise at night??

  • Wait for sony x bro i got zr to0 but after 11 months screen broke all black but its working but i cant use it so i use my sony sola for now waiting for the x or x performance hre in Philippines the phone is expensive but i think its Worth it...so keep it cool brah dont Rush...

  • I'm using Xperia ZR for almost four years. Now it has a audio problem. Earpiece doesn't work, Music can't be heard on loudspeaker. Else it works well. I had decided to go with Z5 compact, but unfortunately Sony doesn't release this phone in India.? Now I am waiting for Xperia X to be launch in my country. Or I would go for Xperia z3 compact. Hope SONY would launch X series in India as early as possible.. !

  • I'm using Xperia ZR for almost four years. Now it has a audio problem. Earpiece doesn't work, Music can't b

  • I have brand new Sony Xperia Z5 Compact, phone is ok, fast and responsive, BUT sound of internal speaker, the one trough you make calls is just so low that it is annoying. When there is some background noise you can't hear anything!!

  • Then it wouldn't be Compact anymore. If you want bigger screen, buy Z5

  • there is an Xperia Z5 if you want a bigger screen.

  • Becareful of the troll comments on this thread. They are worded like: "Z5c had this problem, that people, sent for service, still broken, blah blah - then bought Galaxy S7 and no problem". Don't be fooled by the trolls. This is a great phone - you can see the real comments by people who actually own this phone, and they all say good things.

  • Yes, it supports OTG, keyboards, mouse, xbox 360 game pad all work perfectly

  • Consider that standard z5 is already 5 inches, So your saying both the Xperia z5 and z5 compact should hav bothe been 5 inch devices? Are you just a troll? Or are you stupid?

  • Screen should have been 5 inch.

  • does it support OTG feature? can i plug a keyboard or mouse to it?

  • The z5 compact are nearly perfect to what i want, except the snapdragon 810. Hopefully sony will product a same model with mtk helio x10. Or hopefully m5 got a version same size as the z5c.

  • Hey mate, the sony Xperia z5c isn't chlorine proof. Its rain proof, but not chlorine. And for the rest of u people attempting to take pictures underwater... DONT DO IT. Get a go pro or something... smh

  • this phone is great!...camera; music; speed; memory; in a small package that fits your hands perfectly...

  • Had my z5 compact and used it to take photos underwater for 3min. (swimming pool) suddenly my phone died. Then prior to that i already tried it and it was still good. I made sure that the flip was intact with spigen transparent case. Now, it's still dipped in a huge plastic with rice. Hope it would turn on the next day!! Whew!

  • Very good phone, I have changed from Xperia Z1 : ++++ Size and weight +++ Display colours - HD display is more than enough for 4.6'' +++ Charging and side bumpers (thanks Good only one not 3) +++ Batery life +++ audio quality speakers (stereo) and headphones audio quality +++++ 4G TDD bands +++ price ++ Camera, still better than Z1, comparable with a cheap compact photo camera --- overheating in games and on large 4G traffic - due size I think.... Overall I love this phone, I think it's best choice for a compact Android phone

  • Speakers are really good. Sounds better than Z 3c

  • Well i bought this 2 months ago and love it so far if you re looking for a phone about a size of iphone 6 dont buy iphone 6 buy this

  • how about the speaker sound quality?

  • oh.. I don't know about that, because I never have Z5c thanks mate..

  • i bought this phone 2 mounth ago, and its so awesome, battery so very good already take video underwater and its work perfecly, intiligent active so fucking awesome. if u love taking photo and video buy this phone i really highly recommended it, if u love playing game consider it, this phone heating easly if playing game but not overheating, normal heat, already playing CSR2, Nova, and some other game with aaa graphic, its so smooth. sorry if my english so bad.

  • the Z1c and the Z5c has the same size , but the Z5c has a bigger screen. The Z1c has bigger bezels that make it the 4.6" as a whole but the Z5c is the same size but has smaller bezels that make the screen size larger but as a whole , they're the same size

  • This phone isnt such a great choice for gaming but however, world of tanks and gta4 runs great or even amazingly on this phone. and also get an app called "cooler master" it really helps with the heating issues. The main inferno phone is Z3+, Z5c isnt such a inferno itself, but only gets a little warm when using heavily. (Tip! Make sure you get rid of unwanted apps in the multitasking bar/list.( the little box on the right next to the home buttons))

  • can some pls tell, is there any heating issue in Z5c while playing heavy games? or suggest any mobile with no heat issues...

  • A 4incher with a 2012 design normally would have no place in 2016 market? I'm sorry my friend, but for people who love compact phone that fit perfectly to hand would still looking for that 4 incher smartphone.. I have iPhone 5, Xperia Z and Xperia E3 and I can say that iPhone 5 fits perfectly on my hand.. Oh man.. I wish Z5c more smaller like Z1c sorry for my bad english

  • so..wich one has better speaker sound.. Z5c or Z3c?

  • Z5C is better from compact phones, battery is good, in normal use 2, maybe 2,5 days. I love 1080p/60fps video :o)

  • I dare to say the sound quality is even better than the Xperia Z5

  • Guys, z3 compact or z5 compact? Price Z5c 345 EUR / Z3c 260 EUR.

  • I had Z3 compact, 4 months ago i bought Z5 compact. This is a huge step back. Phone is always lagging, sometimes I press a button and have to wait 10 seconds for a response. Video is bad because after 1 minute the sound starts to lagg after the video. Frames are missing, sometimes for 1 or 2 seconds the picture freezes. All videos are not usable and they look terrible. This is the worst phone I had in years. And yes, sometimes its hot so I can't hold it. I bought my wife S4 and now S7, and they are much, much better.

  • 2 gb ram is too little so ram always is full and doesn't keep anything in background, the device constantly overheating even after marshmallow update, camera and sound quality much worsened over z3, ok battery, low quality screen, I'm really really disappointed.. I used to love my z3, why sony why ?

  • Can anyone tell how is the audio quality

  • Go for Z3Compact if U like Compact phones.

  • Does this phone have IR blaster ?

  • Having used the Z3 compact for almost 1 year, I can confirm that it is a really great phone. The screen is 4,6" and actually much bigger than the Iphone SE/5S - but in a body of similar size due to lower top/bottom bezels. Camera is good, battery life excellent, headphone sound is good, dedicated camera button for fast start-up/focus (use that a lot), SD card etc. I have only used the Z5 compact in shops, but it should be similar experience to the Z3 compact. I expect to upgrade to the Xperia X-line this summer, but mainly because I like the full-metal body design and to some extent the internal storage of 32 GB storage.

  • Huge disappointment! I had this phone for few months in which it was serviced twice for poor battery performance, excessive heating and display light leak. The problems persisted (excluding light leak) and this phone is retired last week from my use. Now happy with Samsung Galaxy S7. It tells a lot that even my previous Galaxy S4 performed better than this glass-sandwich!

  • Is this phone's performance and display good for heavy games like real racing 3 ? I am just concerned about the screen i dont wantit to be too small to play games and i want them to run smoothly.

  • Thanks a lot my friend I think I would go for Xperia Z3,as I am not a gamer so 16 GB will be enough for me I use to store my whole media like photos, movies music,e.t.c on SD-CARD,and i think 10 GB available o Z3 is enough for apps like MX PLAYER, FACEBOOK, WHATSAPP, e.t.c, The only thing I need is a good camera, performance,(for daily task not for gaming),Display Battery life, which I hope Z3 has. In future I may Skip Z5 Series and would go for X series hope Z3 will not Disappoint me... :) Peace, God bless you, God Bless this world, By the way thanks a lot for everything which helped me to buy better device w.r.t Price.

  • Regarding 3GB vs 2 GB, I don't really know if it makes much of a difference. Hopefully someone else can come in.

  • No heating problems whatsoever and I play some serious games with intense graphics. Most of the heating problems that people complained about were with the Z3+ from what I know. Sony seems to have resolved this with the Z5c. However, I just bought the Z3 for my wife on B&H for only $330, so if you are indifferent to size I would probably go that route before the offer expires. Just be aware that it only comes with 16 GB of storage versus the 32 GB in the Z5c. But a fantastic deal nonetheless.

  • Thanks a lot my friend just want to know any cons or problem you have encountered with Z5c how is its heating temperatures,as SD 810 has bad reputation due to heating.... and as it has 2 GB ram,Is it quite enough or 3 GB on Z3 would be better??

  • I think that depends on you as a person. I have friends who left Android years ago for Apple, went back recently, and were blown away by how much the Android experience has improved. So I don't think you will be disappointed if you switch from Apple to Android. But you will likely miss the Apple ecosystem if you have a bunch of other Apple devices. iPhones are sexier. Plus Apple is all about holding the hands of people who are either not tech savvy or prefer not thinking about tech things (I don't mean this as insult). There is something to be said for that model. Sony does have a great PC Companion program for backing up your phone and other functions. But at the end of the day, you have to ask if the Apple premium is worth all of the above. For me, not now or ever. But that is because I buy a lot of expensive gear, and if I had to pay the Apple premium for my stuff, I wouldn't have nearly as many toys as I do. Also, if you haven't experienced an Android before than you really should do yourself a favor and at least try it. If you don't like it, that is what eBay is for.

  • Oh my bad. I am not sure you can compare any of the Compacts to their full size brethren. One of the things Compact users love (and honestly just take for granted) is the super looooong battery life which is the MAJOR benefit of a smaller screen. You will not get that with the Z3. Plus one handed use is great. If you look at the spec side by side, the difference between the full size and compact really is only screen size and battery life. So suggesting the Z3 versus Z5c really is a preference decision that is up to the user. I like phones that fit easily in my pants pocket, but I don't want to give up performance. The Sony Xperia Compacts are the ONLY Android smartphone that meet this criteria. End of Story.

  • I was referring to music and photos. My real question is: is the iPhones higher price justified?

  • What data are you talking about? If you mean photos video and music you can transfer it from iTunes to pc then to Xperia. Also for the previous respond personally I think the z5 has a better multimedia interaction as it also has a better screen and you can have showbox on Android too which you can't have on ios.

  • The iPhone se is faster has higher capabilities in terms of performance not by a lot but by some. Camera they are both about the same although the se camera is probably easier to use and has the 240 slow motion.

  • Also would I be able to transfer my data from iTunes to Android?

  • Z5c does not heat up at all but that could depend on how hot your temp is outside. Here in the UK it's mostly cold so no heat issues

  • I am choosing between the iPhone SE and the Sony Xperia Z5 Compact. I have always had iPhones so this would be my first experience of Android. I know that the Sony is cheaper, it charges quicker and has better battery life but, for me, it doesn't have the appeal of the iPhone. Any tips?

  • thanks for your opinion but I am taking about normal Z3 (5.2'' 1080p display) vs Z5 compact.... which one is better and which one heats less while using camera

  • Z5c as much as people badmouth it unfortunately for them it's actually a really good device and the camera is stunning. To make the camera complete you can buy the Sony wx350 superzoom and download playmemories to get a perfect camera experience with 2 cameras working as one on your Z5c. Also this device can't be compared to other devices simply because each device has its own manufacturer and it's own style. When it comes to specs there might be same or better ones on other devices or even lower specs but again unless 2 devices are completely equal in every aspect from specs to price to design, they can't be compared to see which fits the overall better. There are reviews all over the Web about how this phone is better than that phone and so on. Waste of time really. Each person has their own preference when it comes to mobile phones and not everyone can afford the best of the best so therefore many companies make many phones to make different profits indifferent markets. They make their new devices according to trading standards and as tech moves forward so do the trading standards. Now weather the company chose to use a 10mp camera or a 20mp camera has nothing to do with what other companies use its just purely advertisement to create a media logo and to try and persuade buyers to purchase their product over others. That don't mean that there is competition between the actual devices but competition between sales and profit. Next time you buy a phone think about what you need it for not the specs and looks as tomorrow there will be a new version.

  • That is a tough question honestly. For me the Z3c was not really an option because it was never available in the USA and warranty support is important for me. And I found out with my Z1c that even though I bought it from Clove in the UK, Sony considered it gray market since I am in the US. Honestly if I had the choice I would probably have gone with the Z3c but only because it also supports 4K video which is uber important to me. I don't think the increase in features justifies the higher price of the Z5c.

  • I bought this phone about a month ago and also got the marshmallow update right away so I think that might be the cause of some of the problems I have with my phone: 1) recently I can't turn off the radio. I have to restart the phone to do it (factory reset didn't solve this). Very annoying. 2) some other apps sometimes freeze. 3) had the small apps bar issue but I solved it by disabling greenify. I still haven't received the newest update but I hope that it will solve these issues. Some good things - battery life is ok, the phone doesn't overheat (yet), fits my hand better than bigger phones, camera is fine I guess. Overall - a bit better than "meh".

  • Hi Planing to buy Z3 or Z5C , what do you say which one would be better

  • The Z5 compact is the most stunning phone ever produced! I love it!

  • Replying to my own thread: Also somewhat miffed that all video modes are still VFR (variable frame rate). I would think with the ability to do 4K they could at least offer CFR HD video!

  • Upgraded from the Z1c. Been using it for about a month now. What I Love: - 4K video (~55 kbps) and 23 MP (5520x4140) with HDR - 128 GB microSD card (recording 4K directly to SanDisk microSD is not a problem) and supposedly supports the 200 GB card. - Long battery life, although somewhat shorter than my Z1c What I Miss: - Magnetic charging dock Mixed: - Asphalt 8 does not get noticeably hot, but for some reason, it feels like the app takes longer to load each course. Maybe not, but was really hoping it would load noticeably faster with the Snapdragon 810. Overall: The experience is not radically different than the Z1c and I often wonder if it even offers anything above the Z3c.

  • The z5 compact is 10 times beautiful than any other compact phone. The Xperia MM UI also beautiful than the touch-wiz MIUI.

  • Honestly...my personal opinion..I think THIS phone is Uh-gly. Like seriously...just look at that thing, a face only a mother could love who knows deep down that its ugly as well. Not to hate or offend anyone but goddamnit!! C'mon Sony...design it like you do with PlayStation. Please give the phone some beauty, PLEASE.

  • If the Z5c had 1080p, its ppi would go higher than 320, yeys would never tell the difference from normal use distance, yet the battery endurance would take a toll, probably having a 70h rating in the gsmarena test, render it as mediocre endurance, instead of the v.good one it has now. We must be gratefull for their 720p choice, look at Xiaomi mi 5 for example, with its 1080p screen has a 92h battery rating, whilst the S7 only has 80, despite having an amoled screen, which gives a 25% advantage at energy saving! As they both use the same resolution and the same 3000mah battery capacity, what makes the difference? That the Mi5 has 1080, yet the S7 has the gimmick 2.5k resolution, with the ppi being at 428 and 577, the human eye will never tell the difference, benchmarks performance and battery endurance do though and Sony was wiser than that!

  • I dont think that all those SE trolls are Z5c owners, because there arent so many Z5c owners. As for the Z5c, it is one of the best 2015 phones, probably the best flagship. I am having it since day one and i can asure you that most of these issues reported are by other trolls who never owned this phone, because if they did, they would mention its real issues and what the previous models had, or what they suppose it would have. For example the claim that this phone overheats is a blatant lie, its based on the 810 overheating FACT, but in time it was fixed, the Z5 took special measures for it and most esp the Z5c with its 720p screen it doesnt pressure it enough to cause overheating issues. Sun legibility is also another typical example, the Z5c has 2.780, while the early Z generation have had somewhere near 1.700, sun legibility stops being an issue above 2700, few ppl know that and just flame this phone based on previous experience. Its battery is top notch considering the terrible 2015 flagship, you probably have heard dissapointed Z3c owners, that are rightfully dissapointed, as the Z3c had the best battery endurance of the industry, yet the much more powerful Z5c consumes more, and has less, very good, but not Z3c like. Music quality is top notch too, despite water proofness the stereo front speakers and head and shoulders better than the previous xperia. Its 720p resolution which is the most common point of criticism is not issue, as every iphone user knows that a phone only needs to go as far as 320ppi and 720p is a much for a 4.6 incher. The camera was rated as the best on the best camera site (dxomark). The fingerprint reader is one of the fastests in the market. The true Z5c issues, that you prolly never heart of, are mostly with the Asian devices and evolve some software bugs, with using wired microphones, disabled notifications being reactivated after a security update, the system not allowing you to store apps on the SD card, fingerprint reader having issues with wet hands, back glass cracking after a few 6 feet drops, while caseless etc The SE is a 2012 phone, with a 2015 CPU, it has roughly the same dimensions of the Z5c and thats why there is always a direct comparison. A 4incher with a 2012 design normally would have no place in 2016 market, so the industry sites wrongly suppose that it is adressed on premium users that need a more compact phone, but with a punch of a flagship and in the market there is no other alternative than the Z5c, os every android fan, who want to criticise SE, will compare it with Z5c, it doesnt mean that he is an actual Z5c owner though, so dont be mad on them, the ones who troll SE are mostly Samsung fans and they also troll Z5c, all the issues you mentioned as Z5c's issues, are actually troll attempts from them! Its a waste of time to troll back the Z5c onwers, the ones you seek are over the place, wondering around and troll everyone and everything and prolly holding a cheap chinese phone on their hands...

  • Too bad potentially there are no more z compact series from sony. The z5c are good overcoming the mediocore camera of the z1c and z3c. The problem is the sd810 processor. Hopefully sony will comes out xperia xa compact with p10 processor.

  • I have Z5c it is amazing. I love it! The camera is awesome, but maybe full HD resolution? Other than that, it is a great phone

  • Prove me cooler Master isn't a malware please

  • Also there are complaints about the ram. Many owners say that they have few free rams left after the update

  • My colleague have Z5c and he is really happy. With normal use, he charge phone after 2-3 days, bet after new update phone battery life is bad.

  • I use xperia z5 E5803 y they mobile too much heat when iam using internet

  • No. Mine works just perfect.

  • In my country they have the same price. Also s6 has a bad battery life, maybe worst than z5c.this is why I still wonder what to buy.

  • you got any troubles with the waterproof ?

  • yap, its my problem too, I also think about s6 and z5c, I like z5c, becauce its small, bet in my country S6 costs only 30eur more...

  • Hi z5c owners, if you suffer from phone heating & battery life then you should get COOL MASTER app from play store

  • I bought a Z5 compact after reading this review and was very happy about it until the first day it lasted about 12 hours on the battery. I tried to use stamina mode but did not improve the battery life. I ended up returning it within the 5 days I could luckily Telcel (my provider in Mexico) accepted the return. I am surprised because I found loads of similar issues posted online but all the reviews I read loved the battery life of the phone. So something happened with these models compared to the one reviewed. I would avoid this phone for sure...

  • There are no problems like those you mentioned.Z5c is delight though battery suffered somewhat after marshmallow update.Otherwise it is a great phone

  • There are no problems like those you mentioned.Z5c is delight though battery suffered somewhat after marshmallow update.Otherwise it is a great phone

  • Whats so terrible about this phone since the Z5c fans are so active in the iPhone SE threads? I usually dont visit outside iPhone comments threads but i had to see why Z5c owners have so intense interest in the SE. So what is it thats bothering these Sony owners? I read a little here and i see users complain about overheating, bad camera, poor battery, extremely bad sunlight legibility and so on, i can see why youre unhappy but not why you hate the SE that has none of these problems. Get well guys, i had many Xperia so i know the traumas youre going through, justhang in there, the next update will NOT fix it, i promise.

  • have this since January. I got it for ergonomi, performance and waterproof. Nice phone for the size so here's a comparation with my old phone g357fz. E5823 lower signal 📶 and switches often from 3g to 4g Initial Rom got me 70000 score in antutu. After update the score lowered. So much processing power but can't use it except if you live at the Pole. Heat management lowers CPU speed. Camera night shots are awful on 🍭. + I miss TouchWiz. The interface is so harder to use, like for blutu tethering I have to touch the screen 4-5 times to enable it, the drawer is only available in orizontal scroll, etc.

  • Why does all the other owners complain about the battery?it has 2700 mah,it should be good. I'm still wondering if i should buy z5c or s6.i want a phone with a battery that can last a day at a moderate use.

  • Do we still have settings of Original sound enhancement in Music player after root?

  • Can someone please tell how's the phone after months of use?.. I own one and I'm not satisfied with the battery.

  • Great phone for the most part. Battery is pretty good. Doesnt get hot when using hotspot, battery lasts when using it as well. Love the small size and classy design. Waterproof feature is nice, used it in the rain without worrying about it. Charges fast as well. Overall I am pleased with it, but there are two main issues. Screen visibility in sunlight is terrible, phone is pretty much useless if you're outside. I have a blackberry passport and man, that screen is so much better. Camera is overrated. The digital zoom sucks, zoomability on pictures is abysmal. I have a lumia 1020 and it blows this camera out of the water. It does take quick photos, and slow motion/4k is nice. There are a lot of features as well. But for landscape pictures, night pictures, or zooming in on pictures, it sucks. I bought it to take pictures of my dogs since they move around a lot, and it works better than the lumia 1020 (had long shutter delay), but quality is not what I expected. The audio capabilities and features are amazing, best sounding phone I've had, wired or bluetooth.

  • Short battery life, heat all the time..not good Sony, I'm getting HTC

  • If you rooted your phone you willnot get software updates from Sony,You will have to flash new rom

  • how about when u update the OS when it's rooted? planning to root mine I have second thoughts.

  • a 1080p reso would be awesome!

  • microSD, is up to 128 GB 200 GB

  • Friends, the only solution to save battery life is to root your phone and slow down the snapdragon processor to 900 mhz.. It worked fine for me and now I have 3 days stand-by or 1 day of heavy Internet use

  • sony sony sony.

  • The same happens to me....

  • i know sony is good quality. i have zr and z2 and they are nice to use but now i need to upgrade and i think this one z5 is the best for this year.

  • finger print is missing after update to 6.0

  • Cute, well built compact phone, waterproof really good, battery a bit less,6.0 upgrade makes it faster no more hang...

  • Did you check your Memory (RAM) after the update? i got some hangs, i found an average of 100MB only free!

  • its not lag anymore at 6.0

  • Z5 is a Beast of Flagships.

  • Hey is it true that it's laggy? And can we use the fingerprint?

  • Hey is it true that it's laggy? And can we use the fingerprint?

  • Is it with Lollipop or Marchmallow? It is a night and day difference with Marchmallow. No more lag.

  • 32 GB, fingerprint and a better secondary camera! I think its a good upgrade, but like u i'll keep my z3c!

  • I heard they will bring back the stamina mode in this April. Now still have the Mashmallow doze mode, the doze mode something like stamina. I believe that they very bring back a stronger stamina mode in feature, just be patient.

  • Very nice phone smooth handy.. And cute It's good for people that have small hands like me

  • I have Xperia Z3 Compact and by comparing it with the ne Z5 I don't find a reason to change my already very good mobile phone. Z3 Compact is a small tank...

  • I don't know what wrong with everybody, my on screen during wifi and 3g is about more than 5h. im being on 6.0. i played game, the fone is warm a bit. take a picture was faster. my opinion 6.0 is better

  • Very good it has a bigger screen than Iphone 5S

  • Been taking photos under sea water with my Z3. Still fine. Just have to make sure flaps are tight!

  • Future updates can fix it. Don't worry go for Sony.

  • That's been changed no more long life with new version (android 6 marshmallows) that will make Sony lose his users

  • One of the best options in Sony Z5 compact was battery's long life (stamina, ultra stamina) in previous version software but in the new version we lost that and battery life it's not enough for 24h standby without doing anything Bring back that

  • Got the Sony Z5 compact from Clove UK a week ago. I was a IPhone user the last 4-5 years. The device is great Android is great. What was I missing all this years!! Thanks Sony!!

  • Lol. I did, on Lollipop. And I noticed that the only app that was draining my battery faster was...Greenify. Ain't it funny? According to my experience, using Greenify and Clean Master on your phone it's like hiring a pedophile babysitter for your children.

  • I'm doing the same usage as before. Not a hardcore user. The opposite. I had 5.30 to 6 hours screen time and now it has dropped to 3.30 to 4 with exactly the same setup and use. To give you an example, the last week before the update, I had 124 hours the device unplugged (batterybot app) and still had 27% battery remaining. Now, I can't even reach 80 hours. If anyone knows a way to roll back to Lollipop, please let me know.

  • okay if you said it's draining your battery so...how many hours it takes ? if you are using like a heavy usage like camera, games, music etc. !

  • Dude, thank for advice but I have bought Z3Compact just 2 weeks ago. So, now no point in ordering new phone. I don't think the international model will have valid warranty in india though.

  • its true that z5c has lag issue.. but after update to MM, no lag anymore

  • i'm sure Sony will bring back stamina mode in next update with 6.0.1

  • lag issue is fixed after MM update

  • use greenify

  • WARNING. DO NOT UPDATE YOUR PHONE If battery performance is your top priority, do not update to MM. Sony's amazing STAMINA MODE has been totally replaced by Google's awful DOZE MODE. Battery life on my device has decreased dramatically Don't say that you haven't been warned. I'm trying to find a way to go back to Lollipop.

  • I come from a Nexus 5 and I am a power user. I decided to settle for a smaller phone because I don't like anything above 5 inches. I have to say this phone is worse than my Nexus 5 regarding performance. Apps load slower than my N5. For the rest it's fine I guess but I mostly pay for speed, not features. So I'm disappointed

  • brother if u really love xperia compact phone them u buy its from a united kigdon online shop,i mean uk z5 compact international version and it also support all 4 g bands of indian network...iam not forcing u its only a advice becz iam also a fan of xperia compact phones and its hundered percent geniun from united kingdom and its a uk z5 compact bersion..this is link

  • I'm too confused after the marshmallow update. So many memory and app sections. Now some new memory section just for the ram. AND i used to be able to free almost 1 gig. Now even when I force close apps to free ram I don't get any more ram. About 550mb max. What the heck? How can I not free the ram by closing apps that take ram?

  • best phone one the market hands down

  • Beware your words , samsung's fanboy always around you :)

  • You are complete right, Sony High end devices it's another history, never issues and they work very good

  • I like Sony... i never had any issues with Sony. Maybe that is because i never got cheap lo-end phone and i always go for original in authorized stores but each and everyone of my Sony phones is still working. You can bet on that. And for the love of God stop trying to take underwater pictures with Sony phones. They are waterproof but not in that way.

  • 100% true.

  • I have had 3 sony phones including current Z3Compact & I have never had any such issues. Bloatware can be easily uninstalled. Beyond that the UI is clean, simple & fast unlike touchwizz.

  • Buy Sony for long lasting battery life.

  • Sony Z5c or Samsung S6? Need good picture quality and good battery life, no heavy user, just instagram and internet.

  • of course , but after 4,5 hours using , mutiltasking , heavy gaming , it become a little "slow" . By the way , it tend get warm by heavy user , not "heating" like rumors.

  • nuff said, this phone is beast, i bought this phone last week, and i dont face any problem at all.

  • so... you didn't face any "LAG" problems with Z5C ?

  • sure about it , but not much different , forget about snap 810 "heating stuff ,blap blap" . You will satisfied with this 4.6' monster.

  • I am due for a upgrade. I am a Sony fan. I have had at least 3 Sony units and Sony Erickson phones. With Iphone 6 plus, Samsung I just dont know what to choose. Any advise?

  • Hi guys... I am a Z3 Compact user and i know about the "heating" stuff but it's normal to me but my question is...DOES THIS PHONE HAS LAG MORE THAN Z3 Compact ?? cuz my phone is broke...the water got inside and my warranty got expired so the main board is OUT !! it cost around 350 us dollar so... does Z5 Compact has LAG more than Z3 Compact ?? please respond ! (Specially he people who changed from z3c to z5c)

  • If you feel it warm, warmer and so, you feel it hot. I am an average user, not feeling heat issues. I dont say, its perfect in all sense. For that matter no mobile is perfect. Its better than the Iphon 6s. Those who can complain, they will go on with it without being want to compromise.

  • Pardon, how can PC companion cure the uncomfortable heat?

  • Z5Compact will not be launched in India as Indians are crazy about big screens & even Z3Compact got bad reception according people from Sony Stores. Now, that X series is launched, noway sony will release old phone in india. I have bought Z3Compact finally & am happy with it.

  • Good phone in theory but the Sony software massively complicated, endless bloatware and unidentified fault with ringtone going silent. It also managed to lose my pin code, locked me out and then deleted not only all my settings but ALL my pictures and music on the SD card. This phone should be good but has caused so much grief

  • Use the PC Companion, did it myself, worked like a dream

  • I bought it in Sharjah, UAE.

  • can u tell from where you bought it? i searched everywhere but no luck.

  • 5 days i bought Z5C. Absoloutely a little beast. I am very happy. No abonomral heating issues. Heavy game use may find it difficult. Yes it do become hot, but normal. And then i intalled Cooler Master, it works well, its now a cool LITTLE BEAST !!!

  • I agree.. Dude i've searched all the Sony showrooms nearby and out of my city... They are not aware of this z5c beast.... I already own a z3c which is a awesome flagship mobile... Only things which I don't like about z3c is side flip cover for charging and so much finger impressions.. But z5c is seems to be taken care of those cons... Those who look for decent battery good screen decent camera, good gaming experience, waterproofing all in one compact flagship then they should go for z5c.... I'm eagerly waiting for this mobile to get officially launched in India... I ve been waiting since November 2015... The new Xperia x series are out now I'm worried that this z5c may not release in India... And I'm not ready to buy this from eBay dealers.... No other online purchasers like flipkart Amazon snapdeal has this product.. . I request on behalf all compact lovers in India to launch this z5c soon

  • I bought z5c device last month ago. Everything is good and smooth. A few lag but it's normal for android which will never free from lag. Because they are open source kind of system which allowing third party system get access to your phone system. Z5c Camera is the best i must say. The quality is super fine and sharp especially on daylight but its slowmo effect not fine as iphone. The result for time lapse during sunset & sunrise was pretty amazing with 120fps. Gaming experience is super amazing, it can run advanced graphic games smoothly but it can be freeze when device is overheating after 4-5 hours of playing. Battery is superb. I love its fast charging 2.0 although you can get that technology in most of latest phone model. But you must pair it with fast charger 2.0 (output:5v/2.1A) in order to make ur phone compatible with fast charging mode. Within 1 hour i can charge from 0 to 70%. I can save my time. What I hate the most on this device is it's super fucking fragile & low quality finishing! easily to slip and hardly to grip because of its boring square thin box shaped. My phone had fall from like 50 cm from the concrete floor and it left lots of scratch on its body (4 sides scracth in one crash). That was horrible and disapointing moment. Please wear your phone with cover ALL THE TIME. I don't know why sony keep on using same concept for its design. Square thin box shaped on almost all of their design. I hardly to identify what are the differences between sony models. People don't even care if you own this smart compact device bacause its boring lame & same design (only colour is the pros) and they thought it is just sony phone. You are not getting good branding value, sony. But thank you sony for some efforts to change few of it. My rating is 4/5

  • hii..can you give me some notes about Z3c advantages and disadvantages.

  • I think the time to install apps compared to your z1 is because of the new android version. It's slower to install since 5.0 I think.

  • well there you have it, the Xperia X line. finally someone whose expectation match to the series.

  • I downloaded the cooler master app to help reduce the heat factor as its hot (38-40C) and high humidity here. So far so good.

  • I love my Z3C...

  • I've bought this Z5 Compact about 2 months ago. I really satisfied with this Z5C: its performance, compact model, battery performance. Little heat but it's normal. Its price (in Jakarta-Indonesia) is slightly high though

  • I agree with abnormal heat and lag (because Z5 compact has low core clock?)

  • I really regret bought this phone because : 1. I cannot recover notes from Z1 Compact Notes App.. local Sony Centre is hopeless to handle this problem and That's not f funny at all. 2. Uncomfortable HEAT occur when using w4ze, g maps, any related to high GPS usage app 3. I cannot feel the advantage of 8 core . I felt that Installing app would be slower than Z1 Compact. 4. I think 23M pixel camera isn't significant improvement. Advantage : 1. Somewhat nice quality of screen. I find no scratch after 2 months usage. 2. Fingerprint unlock system is quite pretty cool.

  • Having big troubled getting the SIM card in Can't open the cover no nails Camera great but actually use the phone

  • what did you do to overheat the phone and drop battery that fast? watch p*rn in 4k??

  • go for the z3c. i have it and its great performance, battery endurance, camera is very decent. do get the magnetic dock. only drawback is the camera lens scratches easily (easy fix: put on a front screen protector on the back covering the lens) this way back and lens both are protected without the need of a case.

  • I went to MTN to buy this phone, the salesperson said that every z5 compact they sold was sent back because it gave the customer problems. Unfortunately they lost my application for z3 compact :( No way MTN!!!

  • Just because world is not only USA, it`s round ball. Yep, you are shocked, I know! :D P.S. For example in Latvia (yes, there is country like this, somewhere) we can buy it from beginning of november. See some price comparison page (i shortened link): goo.gl/W3PG4I

  • I've bought this Compact BEAST E5803 yesterday and i'm very grateful for buying it. its sound is high and clear from double speakers and SOC 810 it's not heating the device on a normal use. The Compact BEAST heats up by recording 4k videos and playing high graphical games on it over some time also when the device is heated you can still use the device it does'nt burn your hands and about battery durability it's lasting me for one and half days of my way of usage. Overall i can say it's a great unique Compact flagship from SONY make.believe like.no.other

  • For obtaining Facebook and line message notification you have to make settings in power management section. I tried and succeed.

  • Anyway, I am going to buy Z3Compact now. Other than the camera is there any other significant difference between the 2 ?

  • I am tired of waiting for Z5Compact to be released in India. The people in Sony Gallery did not even kno that it exists. had to explain them that ther is Z5Compact just like Z3Compact. What a bunch of noobs ! I won't get any international warranty or repair services either since people will have no training to repair this phone.

  • Fake Post! How can you own Z5C since it was just announced previous month!?

  • My Opinion after using this phone since November 2015. Pros: - It's compact. - Battery life is pretty good. - Picture Album has "Places". Pretty nice to know where your picture has been taken around the world map. - Any Music you have can be update with album art image and info. Cons: - When you zoom in a picture. It take a few milliseconds until the picture is sharp. - The phone does heated up more than normal. - The phone lag as hell from time to time. - The phone randomly reset it self. with red blinking light. - No Facebook or LINE message notifications. - Snapseed app 70% can not save photo.

  • any suggestion on how to prevent hot issue...:-(

  • You forgot to mention, your friend had it up on the space station and the screen cracked. What bulldust

  • wrong

  • Same here.

  • The best attractive features of this phone is the compact size only. If you prefer hard to find easy handling size phone with great specs and camera rather than xxx PLUS or xxx NOTE or 5" xxx mini. The problem is with the snapdragon 810 which made the phone overheat and overpriced. I hope sony will produce midrange compact phone model without waterproof features and cheaper midrange processor. I know once u used bigger phone u will find hardly to go back to smaller phone, but carrying a 5.5 ~ 6" phone in your jeans pocket wasn't cool at all.

  • Do not buy this phone unless your right hand is really cold. It overheats like crazy. It is also heavy, bulky and looks way better on specs than it does in practise. Again, unless of course, your hand needs warming. I have had good experience with Xperia previously, and with Samsung mini and Huawei P6 & P7. This one, though, does not deliver. And having to charge every 6 hours, and watching the battery percentage drop as I watch is disconcerting and I would prefer that my vendor exchange this phone for something more performant.

  • To be honnest I'm not happy with my z5 compact. The first days were dissapointing, with a bad battery autonomy, and the phone appears to heat a lot with any app on, even the not too edgy ones... The photos are not so good either, and the uncovered charging dock makes me fear the unability to go underwater except in an accident ! My screen got broken as my phone fell from my pocket, making it impossible for me to use it for a while, and a friend gave me its samsung S5 new : I was much happier with it. Now my phone is repared but I'm not using it, I'm going to check if some patchs came in to solve these problem, but I'm trying to sell it anyway. In the other hand, a friend of mine has it as well and is really content of it. But obviously I think the phone is not worth its high, high price.

  • Best phone I ever had, very fast, good battery, automatic swich on&off data when you get MMS, not to big, quality look, nice designe....Buy it

  • I bought one in January 2016, it does have flaws, the heat if you playing game, the restart without warning(without even touch the phone!), the battery just doing fine fine but not superb. i am truly honest..buy it only if you don't care about details i mention above. Don't let other people decide whether u buy or not, it's your money, ur sweat is on it..if the shop let you try first make sure to try 'playing high end games' and see whether the heat is acceptable to u or not..and don't forget to watch the battery..

  • Hey guys. Im planning to buy the z5c because of its specs. But im afraid there are so many bad comments about this phone. Does this phone worth the price? Share your experience with this phone. Many thanks for your feedback.

  • im with you bro hate these trollers

  • Super low resolution again form Sony in z5.They are absolutely shameless and a miserable 2gb ram lol.Avoid this phone like the plague until they give you the specs that you pay for.

  • Yeah it is definitely better than Z3C, but in general if I were you and I already owned a Z3C, I would've wait for a more stable, less laggy ROM.

  • There is no such thing as z4 compact.

  • Okay my friend got one... now im jelly. :D

  • its feeling if first samsung hired the false comment making people and then sony also hired some people to answer them..gsmarena should trace them and delte the fake commenting people

  • Haters must be Samsung funs... I'm Sony fun but I don't hate Samsung... But Samsung phones will lag soon... And battery drain fast... Sony is the best...

  • best smartphone as of january 2016. haters gonna hate.

  • That is what Sonys SmartConnect is there... You just program it, should be just one click away for anything connected ;-)

  • Check if the box says U will get head-phone or not ? If U bought phone online then check product description for headphones. Then contact whomever U bought the phone from on phone & email so that U have a record.

  • Does the material & Over all build quality of this phone suit the price tag ?

  • Check if the box says U will get head-phone or not ? If U bought phone online then check product description for headphones. Then contact whomever U bought the phone from on phone & email so that U have a record.

  • Hi everyone! After reading some reviews I'm got a little confused... Should I buy the z5 compact ou the z3 compact? Thanks Ps. This is my first post! Ahahah

  • Have this phone for 2 days. I've comed from g357fz. Fingerprint scanner is outstanding and speed but the most good surprise was that it has a string hole. Barely wait to get one! A minor dislike is that it getting warm and hope to get accustomed without removable battery. Coming from TouchWiz, I find its interface harder. Exp: I Bluetooth tether all the time so when I want to tether on this phone I have to do it with a minimum of 5 clicks, meanwhile with touchwiz I had it done with 2. Major dislike!!!

  • did have a headset on the box, because in my box not have it!?

  • Shame the battery is non-removable.

  • You should make separate entry for z5c US version as they removed fingerprint sensor..see this:

  • You really don't have a Z5. It have stamina mode and it is the best way to save battery.

  • Hey I have question just got my z5 compact and it's kinda overheating while gaming and some bigger aps is it common Orr?

  • Turn the phone off. Saves energy as well.

  • I will say it again :( Who hate Sony and say Sony sucks --- they suck but Sony is soooooo amazing, better than any laggy Samsung and crap iphone... Mine is Z3... Extremely satisfied user here... :)

  • Im not sure if I want this phone. I read people having problems with gap between body of the phone and the screen. Which is the same problem I have had on my Z3 Compact..

  • Fake Sony competititor stories.

  • such a hate comment.......so the repair-men already gave you option to change right ??? so whats the matter, just take it because it is free right?......DONT SPREAD HATE PLEASE!!!

  • tell me more about speaker on this phone....does it really performs louder than Z3C....

  • How do you separate the screen of the phone from the body of the phone. I smell bullshit

  • Hi you can try "smart connect" I hope in z5 compact having this feature bcoz i use it in z3' U can customize all ur needs by this..:)

  • I have been seen many people make review about heating issue.. And the results, it doesn't have heating issues..

  • What the hell are you doing with the phone until it screen separate from their body?

  • This phone is amazing. Snapdragon 810 is a strong performer in this device, and it stays cool and quick. Battery is strong, multiple background apps, torrents etc all running and I still have over 1 day battery life. The detail in the 23mp photos is incredible - even after uploading to facebook to images are razor sharp.

  • What a garbage phone! After reading the reviews and looking at the specs, I had such high hopes for this phone, but it is the WORST phone I've ever purchased. Quality is abysmal. I've had it for one month and the screen has separated from the body of the phone! It still works, but the camera and top speaker no longer work. The back glass is EXTREMELY fragile and cracked while the phone was in my pocket (but I imagine the separated screen makes the phone more fragile). The phone has been laggy and slow since the first week, often freezing up completely whenever it connects to bluetooth. The back of the phone gets incredibly hot. I've owned androids for years and work in IT, so I know all about managing apps, but even doing that will still result in laggy performance. The battery life is not very good, likely due to the heat management issue. But there are some upsides: The phone is the perfect size for my hand (and I'm a big guy). The camera was great when it worked. It's waterproof and the fingerprint scanner on the side is a great touch. If this phone was built with the quality of a Samsung or Motorola, it would be one of the greatest phones on the market. Sadly, Sony's execution does not match up with their ambition.

  • Such a midrange will get slow and lag after 1year.

  • I appreciate your suggestion but Samsung J7 has 5.5" screen size. Too big for me..

  • I've just received my Z5 compact and love it! Best phone. Does anyone know how to stop notifications bleeping in the middle of the night i.e. FB? I've already set the do not disturb thing on. Sorry to ask such a silly question and appreciate anyone that can help.

  • I bought a sony compact, it has zero quality and it is garbage. the screen of My phone after 1 monthes made a gap between frame and screen. Recently it droped from 60cm height and the lens of its primary camera stopped working. The repair-man said to me, you should change it. Please don't purchase sony.

  • Blackberry Leap.

  • Jonny take online comments with a pinch of salt.

  • Hi, I suggest you test it yourself. My friend have the Z3 compact it is very good phone, but Z5 is the latest something might be different, example the Z5 compact have fingerprint reader, 0.03 seconds hybrid auto focus, 23mp at main camera and 5mp front camera and wider camera lens and capless usb-port. You better try it yourself.

  • I love the look of this phone and want to go for it as it's waterproof however, there appears to be so many negative feedbacks from people regarding this handset! How many of you here posting your comments are genuine purchasers or are you here just trolling! It's so sad as genuine people like me would like to buy and your obviously putting people like me off. By the way if you are trolling here please don't waste my time even responding to my message!

  • Samsung j7 is the better option for u. I am using since 2 months. No hang no lag.

  • terrible terrible terrible terrible terrible camera,ıf you can not make dont fool people"the best camera" lie...

  • Hi, Just some info and idea i would like to get about this phone. Firstly i am using a Sony Xperia L from the past 2 years almost and the experience has been an ok ok one. I am looking for a cellphone within 5 inches of screen size with good quality camera and music and also a phone that will not hang or lag and is smooth while playing games such as subway surfer and temple run etc. I was thinking of buying an Apple i phone as many of my friends say that Apple phones don't hang or lag however the 64GB Apple iphone 6s is out of my budget as i can afford around 2100 - 2200 SAR. So i want to know some honest feedback about this phone from those who have used it for at least a month or so and i also want to say that i will be taking my cellphone to India so is it ok to do so as i heard that SONY did not launched this phone in India. Reply awaited. Many Thanks

  • this phone sucks, phone lags, always freezes, and is not waterproof, dropped it in the pool for less than 5 seconds and the phone is water damaged now, stick with the z3, sony has gone backwards

  • Major design flaw, glass on the back? Who the hell thought that was a good idea? Also Chrome has trouble finding the phone, but it can sync?

  • Sony have chose not launch Z5 compact in India yet. I went to Sony gallery but they saud that they have no update about Z5 Compact neither can they ask about its release date, talk about sily stupid marketing stratergy. Does anyone kno any international forum or email adress on which I can contact their international sales team where I coud contact them & ask about this ?

  • then return it or log complaint to consumer authority.

  • Plastic looks very ugly, but also Samsung sucks with its laggy touchwiz and worst battery life. Don't think anymore buy Sony it is much better built, have longer battery life, excellent camera, SD card...

  • Both are amazing phones. Z3 looks more premium. Z5 compact is more comfortable to handle. Mine is black Z3.

  • Loved this phone whan I first got it. after 3 weeks the screen started to become unreadable, which you could only fix by turning it off for 20 minutes. Sent of to be fixed. Not fixed. They just switch it on see that it works and send it back. This screen graphics faliure happens multiple times a day. I hate this phone.

  • Both Z3 and Z5 have have excellent performance.

  • The audio jack should always be on the bottom!!! it's so inconvenient for the headset to be flinging away when you're trying to look for your fave music on the go and it requires additional length when you have your headset in your shirt and all and when it's in your pocket, pulling out the phone with a strap is a hastle when the headphones are connected....

  • How does plastic effect performance of ANDROID?

  • Pros: superb camera and video superb battery superb functionality Cons: Headset unable to detect (base on forums most Z5 owners has issue in headset) Solution download 3rd app but not totally working. Music working, and navigation audio works but radio is not working. Video Recording 60fps HD last only for less than 4mins. It auto stop recording once phone heat up. Its like it auto stop recording video when its about to over heat. FB keep on crushing after re-installing

  • I need a phone that i can video chat and the internet browsing doesnt lag. Can this phone do that?? Or is it still wise to buy Z3? Cant afford Z5 but i love sony and i need a new one. HELP

  • I need a phone that i can video chat and doesnt lag on internet.is Z5 compact a good phone for that?? Cant afford the Z5.sigh. Or is it still wise to buy Z3? I love sony and i need a new one. Help!

  • It is called trolling dude. No one tries to return their phone in 1 day like the guy in that post.

  • U want to compare Z5Compact to lower level Plastic phone ?

  • Should i wait for Samsung A7 2016.or buy this Z5 compact?? Help??

  • Should i wait for Samsung A7 2016.or buy this Z5 compact?? Help??

  • I have had the z5c for 2 month now and i literally have no idea what you are talking about, maybe its just your phone but i never had any heating issues whatsoever. The only way it becomes uncomfortably hot is when i would play nfs no limits of gta sa, but pretty much every phone heats up when playing demanding games.

  • I dunno but couldn't wait. I bought mine in the UK. They exchanged my z4 compact for inr 20,000 the new z5 cost me nearly 40,000 and got a VAT refund of nearly 5000. Cutting to the chase it's a fantastic phone. I've used top Samsung and Apple 🍎 phones and I would rate the z5 compact at the top. Fantastic phone

  • Frosted glass.

  • I had the experience z1, I loved it, never had a problem until battery went. Phone was 18 month old. Sent back to Sony and they put in a new one and returned within a week, no charge. Personally I think there customer service was second to none. I've not long ago got the z5 compact, size of phone gets some getting used to, but I love the performance, a real world everyday phone

  • Is the back on the black version glass or polycarbonate....

  • Hello guys, I just want to ask your opinion on its features the so called "x-reality" should I turn it on? I like how it enhances the overall images and videos the question are.. Does it affect its overall camera performance as well as video and does it drain its battery faster when it turns on?? Thanks for the reply 😄😄

  • I think, not all ram are same like class1 memory card is not comparable to class10 memory card.

  • Because that much is enough for a compact device. Sony's RAM management is better than most others so it does not need bigger ram.

  • Thanks for your advice, really appreciate it and understand that however, I was not getting any bars at all in some parts of the house and when I did a test call, it just says "cannot connect your call" that's when I look at the phone and nil bars on the signal!

  • Amazing phone. Upgraded from my Xperia Z and it packs so much more power in a smaller phone. Size is perfect for my active live. Easy to take on my mountainbiking, hiking trips. Amazing camera and the sound was a mind blowing experience. Sony really made a winner with the compact phones.

  • the most relevant android phone nowadays, generally. SD810+HD Screen will run your game smoothly. but why it just using 2GB of RAM?

  • Can't say enough good things about this phone which I have had for 1 week. Folks complaining about price? It's current top of the line. Wait a year or buy a Z3C. Size is perfect for those wanting a smaller phone. 0 overheating issues. Great battery life (get a full day on a charge) with everything turned on and fairly heavy usage. Not a huge Google fan, but lack of apps on Windows platform forces me to use Android (Apple products are just not an option). This phone configured will all my Microsoft services is making me forget my old Windows Phones. I like the fairly lightweight launcher. Have it configured with everything I need on 1 panel. Fingerprint unlock works flawlessy. Camera produces great photos in excellent to good lighting conditions, but falls off in lower light. If you are in for a high-spec, but smaller phone you will be hard pressed to find a better phone. Money no issue and not contemplating an upgrade from Z3C, I'd say this is a great choice. With money concerns, Z3C may be the better choice. Already have a Z3C? I don't know...My gf's Z3C is going strong after a year. Would probably hold off.

  • For your information comparing bars doesn't mean anything because the number of bars that give a signal strength is different depending on the device. For exemple, for a signal strength of -100dbm in 4G, my Moto G shows 4 bars wereas my z1c shows only 2 bars. So by comparing the bars you'd think that the Z1C has a way poorer reception wereas in fact the signal strength is the same on both devices.

  • I just bougth yesterday my Z5 compact,Even I cannot returned it! Is there any an option to make a normal hot of this unit? Am soo disappointed! Pls Sony we need HELP

  • lol @ your battery life :) overheating... hmmm never heard of it, let me google it, oh wait z1c does not overheat. Before you reply with a stupid comment :) yes i'm bitter, and shame on you Sony. I am still waiting to upgrade z1c to the new model, but all you release is a plastic fantastic garbage.

  • I cant wait foir the marshmallo update, it will greatly help the Z5c, against the only thing the Z3cc has over it now (since the price difference among them has evaporated) the standby times, which are going to be even better than the kit kat ones the Z3c was measured.

  • The overheating issue is really bothering me. It's not the normal overheating that most phones experience from using it for too long. There's no way of me returning it so what can I do to stop this?!

  • Returned my Z5 compact as the signal was bad indoors! Same network on BB had full signal strength! Even my iPhone 6 (Antenna gate) has 3 bars! Now that's saying something!

  • i have xperia z3 and i wanna upgrade it. better i choose xperia z3+ or xperia z5 compact? z5 is too expensive T_T

  • Go to settings>>Battery Performance & check what is eating Power. Uninstall unnecessary apps. If screen is eating power then take phone to service center & show them. Z series phones are widely known to be good in battery performance. This shoud not be a permanant problem. & don't confuse warm with hot.

  • i have a Z3 compact! i love the Z5 but i wont buy it! no NEED! Z5 Compact unfortunetly looses on the battery length... and just has a lil better camera... and... that's it... mostly... not much of advance from the z3.. still a lot of bashing online! BUT we all know there is people from the competition BEING paid to bash and troll in here to prevent people from buying Sony! My Z3 compact is the best phone ive ever had in years!!!! it just heats up a lil bit.. thats all! Z3 and Z5 compacts are the best Sub 5" sizes phones out in the market!

  • Galaxy S3 camera score 72 in Dxomark camera test. In the camera review, The camera Xperia Z5 compact beat Iphone 6s, what can you say? Will say the Galaxy S3 beat Iphone 6s? LOL Xperia Z5 Compact vs iPhone 6s Comparison, Camera Review, Speed and Battery Test

  • Just because of the quality. I don't know, maybe i have defected phone, but pictures are very grainy and seems un-natural. Pixel count is very good, hower the quality is not so good. And I was comparing to galaxy S3 just because it was my previous phone, and I was a bit shocked, that i did see worst quality pictures, than my 3 years old phone has.

  • I have recently bought a Z5 compact. For business use it is hopeless. Within a few minutes of use it is too hot to hold against your ear and the very best battery life I can get is 7 hours from fully charged. I'm not using it for watching U Tube or excessive apps, mainly just Whats App and phone calls. I will have to get rid of it and go back to my previous Z3 or move to another brand. A very poor product from Sony which has been my brand of choice for several years.

  • I don't trust you, you are trolling with an anonymous or even a nickname, if you face problem you should contact Sony and get help, because I test the phone don't have heat problem, it is the normally warm as usual phones only. PS:The competitors pretend like a Sony user defame Sony is easily.

  • Antutu shure has changed with the 6th version. I used to get about 64k with it. Now I'm getting higher numbers than Galaxy s6 Edge. I'm getting 81k with antutu now. Even my older Moto G first gen 16gb used to max out at 19k and now it gets 23k? What the heck is going on with antutu?

  • I disagree. iPhone 6 watching videos doesn't heat up! My other Z5 does!

  • Hallo i need help i have the Z5 Compact and the phone is heating up very fast even when i cheack my whatsapp What kan i do ? I dont have eny other problems love the Z5Compact by the heating up is realy getting me worrie

  • This one is to way over priced here in the Philippines it should be below 20k instead.

  • For a start, M4 Aqua has a snapdragon 615, not 810. Are you joking or what?

  • The M4 aqua is use the Qualcomm MSM8939 Snapdragon 615, do you really have the phone? Are you trolling without knowing Dual heatpipes and more thermal paste for Z5 series?

  • If U watch online videos for 1-2 hrs continuously then any phone will heat. Video uses screen continuously & processor runs continously too to render graphics. That's why phone heats up. That is not the problem of of just 1 particular phone.

  • I'm using Xperia M4 Aqua now. and i got really terrible prob about over heating after using about 1-2 hours for watching utube. and when it happened, mine was not able to use and the screen was off. got me very angry. in the review from others, the reason is because the phone using the Snapdragon 810 that causes over heating very fast. i'm afraid that it will happen to xperia z5 c, can anyone share me?

  • Im an X iPhone user however I will not go into comparison as it it will not end amywhere. I have The Z5 for a month now and I must admit it is one of the best phones currently in the markets now. Excellent camera resolution, storage, high performance and size. For people compaining about the bulkness I say The phone is handy and size is perfect for not slipping as most of all ultra thin smart phones moreover it's tough and not to mention waterproof. My opinion definitely go for it

  • Hey , I rarely take the time to log in to reply people . I own one of these and I must say its a great set. It's the best "mini/compact phone in its series at the moment. You should get it. As I only play 3-6 games, the screen is only 4.6inch with may strain your eyes if you play for long. 20-30minutes is alright . Id recommend these 2 phones 1. Samung A8 and Sony M5 At the end of the day it's your decision , cheers.

  • I've used my ipad & iphone4s for over 2yrs already (i think) ,& been "phoneless" for almost a year. I'll be buying a new phone next week, & this is on top of my list, im really confused which android phone should i get. I've been watching, reading reviews, making my own research, been asking friends & siblings for months now, but this is actually my 1st time to post a comment about it. I really wanted to have an android phone that is near stock android, has a great gaming experience, good with video calling, Fast camera & something that will last for over a year without being sluggish or that doesn't crash in the long run. Any suggestions and opinions? I hope im making a right choice if ever i get this phone. Budget USD500. Thanks to whoever takes the time to read and comment on this.

  • need it be a dual sim device....

  • hehe knowledge about his camera sensor manufacturer..and a motorola user ;) -coincidence? :D I had my moto defy soo maxed out thanx to some guys on xda:D great small phone it was :) . Just ordered z5c after long time with z1c. It is funny to hear grow up man complaining about 2 mm here and there. I want it in my pocket not in my ... bag? And i want a nice cpu and features and it has to be waterproof. Oportunity to change sd is nice..Kingston 128 GB microSDXC Ultra Class10 UHS-1 will change your way of thinking about phone storage ;) Anyone tried to force it to cast teamviewer screen to a non miracast thing ? :)

  • In the power button.

  • I made a foolish decision and decided to upgrade my z3 compact to a oneplus x. Apart from screen size, slimness, design and ram it was either slightly worse or much worse in every area. To list the bugs Autobrightness terrible Gaming performance rubbish unless you root and change kernel Sound quality abysmal Screen too vivid and unnatural No gain in sharpness despite higher res screen Camera mediocre Camera app appalling It's a good upgrade from a moto G and offers good performance for 200 if you're prepared to tweak it or wait for 20 software updates to fix the bugs. But it is not close to the z3 compact in terms of everyday use let alone the z5 compact

  • You said the reality. They cant make much criticism to iphones b'cos its rich mans phone. Its a style to hold it than its performances. Criticism for a good cause is welcome but not otherwise.

  • ty dude

  • So many hyppocrites... They say this phone has big bazels, when its a full centimeter smaller than iphone 6s, which has roughly the same screen size, they say it has small resolution, where the 6s has roughly the same and the same ppi. They claim its too expensive despite having a 23mp camera, where the 6s has 12, two stereo speakers with louder crispier sound, water resistant body, and still room for sd card, radioand one of the most expensive chips in the ? Its parts are far more expensive than the iphone 6s, why the price of the 6s is justified and it is not on the Ź5c, why the screen and resolution is ok for the iphone and not for the sony? Why only comment that the thickness is 9mm instead of 7mm and forget that the battery is 2700 instead of 1700? Why noone mentioned that the 143gramms the 6s has arent heavy and the 138s on the Z5c are a problem? The OS is what it is, but Sony has done the best to compete with 6s and used the best parts they could to outperform it, in many areas the specs are double and those specs mean that the cost is sky high, this is the price of competitiveness and the Z5c did a fine job with its 62k on antutu, pretty much the best results of the 810

  • Right side, middle part, power button.

  • Where is the fingerprint-pad in this phone?

  • Been using the C for a month now... So good overall, the speed, camera, and I like it because it's small But has one big mistake which is the overheating problem

  • i need QWERTY phone for this

  • Even I am waiting it eagerly...!

  • Looks are not what matters at all. This is why reviewers don't talk about it, because design is purely subjective. What matters the most are features

  • Do any one have problem with overheating without any load.

  • dose anyone have any issues with receiving messages... i have tried hangouts i have tried with my apn putting it to def ult i ahve contacted sony and they say its my network and contact network and they say there is no issue checking my setting and everything seems of i have soft re set it... now ill recive messages but like 1 hour later for some contacts not all... checked preference settings also checked to see if there messages are coming through as a imessage

  • I feel of late people are more interested in the looks than the performance and thus become a big showoff. This applies to his job / carreer also. The big sized phones even do not fit the hands and pockets and need to use two hands instead of one. Z5c is really good in all respects. If there is any improvement needed better to comment on that area than complaining of its looks. Almost all high end phones are heavier. And the so called Iphones also have its own drawbacks, no dispute it looks nice. I personally like Z5c, but just waiting if Z5c premium will remain a roumer or a reality and if available internationally, before I go in for Z5c.

  • Z5C surely doesn't look as good as its bigger siblings (Z5 AND Z5P), but it still looks good. Looks are purely subjective, and while Z5C is thick, it still is a premium device unlike the Oneplus X. Z5C might be thicker, but it has much more features than a oneplus X. Choosing a X over a Z5C is just.....dumb. Z5C has: better processor better camera better battery water and dustproof fingerprint scanner NFC more storage space So you see Oneplus X only wins in display resolution, NO match for Z5C overall

  • Let's see... Compared to Oneplus X The Z5C has a much faster processor, better camera, water and dust proof body, better battery, better audio, and more on the list. According to gsma, Oneplus X doesn't even have NFC or compass.

  • Oh please, don't tell crap. Sony never told they're a USA brand, they're Japanese. Maybe in USA, they don't want to sell their phones because that market is filled with iSheep. Secondly, if Z5C is thick, you should realise that it has a Snapdragon 810, 2600mAh battery and a large 1/2.3 23 MP camera, fingerprint sensor too. Does your crappy Chinese phone have these features? Z5C is a miniature version of the Z5. It packs powerful flagship specs in a compact waterproof body.

  • Its like 20% lower, at least from early Z3Cs, i am not sure about 5.1 ones... And Vic your garbage is our treasure, go ahead and buy your self a oneplus X, if all you care for is looks and appearances, or asn iphone for the shame matter. The Z5c does not aim to impress yr future girlfriend, make look rich or smth, this phone aims to please their owners, its 7mm instead of 9mm yes, but insteasd of going the S6 or 6s , Sony prefered to keep it water resistant and didnt sacrifice thickness for battery capacity. If being 2mm is what matters the most for you, then you have so many choices this year, i for one did not want to live with a phablet anymore, i wanted a compact sized phoned, with superb camera, 32gb internal storage for apps, G2 like battery performance, like 60k antutu overall performance and android. Z5c is the only answer out there in the market now, for the rest of the firms, small= small battery, cheap and weak phone. Your eyes cant tell the difference from 720p to 1080p in a 4.6 inch screen, as our eyes can go as far as 320ppi, the fact that the Z5c has 720 help it have great performance thast can help it go toevto toe even with iphone 6s plus and better battery performance. This model aims to satisfy these values, fir the rest you can have yr pick amongst a host of those oneplus or whatever...

  • How can you compare the Z5 compact and the OnePlus X? The X looks nice but it's also larger. And apart from the 3GB ram, there is nothing special about the OnePlus X. But the Z5C is a little beast, same as the Z3C which I use. Maybe they won't win a beauty contest but they are the most powerful phones at the moment at 5" and below. There are no real competition for them at the moment. In my opinion, absolutely worth the money.

  • Sorry, but why do you need to write BS? Can you show where in the text I mentioned weight? It's Sony, and as always - they have their own vision of reality. Unfortunately it takes them to making budget phone looking devices at premium price. I wish they make a thin stylish device and I'm absolutely sure they are capable of doing that ( look at excellent Z3 Tablet), but Z5 Compact if a terrible fail. 250 USD OnePlus X looks much more premium at 6.9 mm thickness, full hd screen and 3 Gb of RAM. I appreciate compact sizes of Z5C, but due to thickness (especially on such a small overall size) device looks outdated right out of box... If I pay premium price, I want very premium looking device, not something looking like outdated midranger...

  • It's 138g like most phone of its size. Why do you need to LIE?

  • I'm badly trying to love this phone, but unfortunately it's so thick... Ugly thick. And too expensive as well. Bad job, Sony... Compared to Z3 Compact I'd even call this phone step backward. It doesn't even look as a premium device. I was desperately waiting for this model and... got this ugly thick and mediocre looking device at crazy price tag. To be honest in real world Z5 Compact should cost around 350-400 USD, not more. I started even considering to myself Blu Vivo Air LTE which cost just 200 USD, but crazy thin, has a premium look, quite good battery life and camera quality is just enough for my needs. Shame on you Sony - you're being compared with some little known Chinese manufacturer ( though they claim they are USA company).

  • Bet you haven't even touched a Z5. S3 having a better camera than Z5? Seriously?! Give me a break. Z5 camera obliterates S6's camera. And the S3 camera can't hold a candle against the Z1's camera. Please don't tell utter nonsense and make people think you're a dumb guy.

  • The highest SAR value for Sony model phone E6606 & E6653 when tested by Sony for use at the ear is 0.751 W/kg (10g). In the case where the phone is worn on the body, the highest tested SAR value is 0.781 W/kg (10g). (GSMARENA please fill the field SAR)

  • hello , what about the sar - value?

  • make this same like blackberry classic

  • The score is lower get 73 only in camera field and you can read the comments from the Dxomark, they said the S3... -Noticeable oscillation in autofocus. -Stabilization does not manage to compensate for walking motions. -Strong noise in low light environs. -Slight jello effect is noticeable. So, do you want compare to shame the S3 again?

  • I bought after watching reviews and other youtube videos. It seemed such a nice and compact phone to have. and i also wanted to own and use a Sony phone. I was so much disappointed with the performance of the phone that i changed it within one week. Thank god i had an iphone as a spare. This phone is not at all comfy to use while talking. The square shape is not really fascinating to carry. The resolution was not eye soothing. The colors looked warm. Worst part was that the phone used to get heated up just within 10 mins of use. Such a worthless phone i might say. Never using Sony again. Then again its my personal opinion, but other Sony loyals might enjoy it.

  • can i know why you say s3 camera is better than z5c? plz let me know in details

  • wow - worse battery then my 3 year old motorola. This is a setback in technology. So many useless phones on the market. So sad so few less then 5 inch. Does nobody else find it unconfortable to have so big phones in their pockets? This one does not have a good screen nor good build quality. Also tooo expensive. Why does GSM arena not allow for negative opinions? Smells a little like control of the masses.

  • I don't know whether it is heating up or not but yes snapdragon 810 heats up a lot so it could be true. However it won't get very hot. Secondly this phone have capability of beating IPhone 6s especially it's splash proofing camera and benchmarks will surely give tough time to IPhone 6s for sure.

  • funny review. don't ever compare the camerar of galaxy s3 and xperia z5c, galaxy s3 way far behind.

  • Do not use underwater, consider the phone splash proof at best. Sony had mass problems with the Z3 which resulted in many failures, mine failed first time under about 20cm of water. Sony claim it is waterproof, however if there is any water damage it is considered physical damage and warranty is void. The only investigation they make is to open the side cover and check the moisture indicator, if it shows signs of moisture, it's an instant void of warranty. They do not check if seals have failed or if there is an issue with the front / back cover adhesive. Took me about 3 months and threats of legal action to get a replacement phone.

  • Sony doesn't have OIS(optical image stabilisation), because it uses a different method for stabilising. Phones with Sony cam sensors use the same technique. So most of the people find it difficult to click pictures without ois. I use moto x play which has a Sony sensor, though it is a 21mp sensor sometimes the images are blurred as you need to be very stable while clicking.

  • Sony has provided the BEST Camera tools to it's Z5 series. I would wonder if you know anything about camera...!

  • I have used it for a couple of weeks. so far feels great and all, apart from camera. You seriously should test the camera performance yourself, to se if it is satisfying your demands. I was very dissapointed, my old Galaxy S3 had so much better camera. Video is OK, but photos are very poor qualty.

  • why SONY doesn't release chrome color for z5 compact?????????????

  • Does anybody used underwater to take pictures?? Sony has said that is not supposed to be use that way although the phone is ip 68.

  • I would be shocked if it didn't perform better than a phone that's over 2 years old! Will have to put that SD810 to the test myself, but something tells me (like all others that made that claim in the past) this one may have improved (like all others also did) but will inevitably end-up perform exactly like expected from a SD810 under real load scenarios (heavy gaming for instance). 4K video is done with hardware-accelerated codecs that are power (and heat) efficient. RAW GPU power during heavy gaming is not. Throttle-fest will arrive, the question is how soon?

  • i am so close to buying this. is it worth it?

  • i just bought the said unit two days ago 13.11.15 (hope nothin' to do with the Friday the 13th), while using it for a skype call by around 10 minutes it started to warm up and being the call goin' on and noticeably the heat increases.... so.. then .. decided to cut the conversation... is there anythin' i can do to solve this issue or the phone can be returned??? .... thnx....

  • Hi, this is happening because the Sleep time from Settings->Display is too short and/or because you don't put the phone to your ear when you are calling somebody.

  • Do you have a screen protector on it? and if you do does the Screen protector cover the sensor? if it does, remove the screen protector and try it with out one. This was also an issue with the LG G4 and that was the fix until the updated it

  • try formatting your phone

  • I have baught this phone 3 days ago. I have aproblem when I make a phone call or answer anycall the screen lock and turns black and it's doesn't unlock even when touching the screen or moving the mobile. I have to wait till the call finishes and then unlock the phone. Anyone has a solution for this

  • HI I have bought it 2days ago and I have aproblem. When I receive call or start aphone call the screen turns black and becomes locked. It's doesn't turn on even when touching it or moving the phone. I have tovwait till the call ends then to unlock the screen....anyone had that problem before

  • Just put pacific or eastern standard time. That's all it needs.

  • in date and time settings -turn on "USE NETWORK provided time!"-its as simple as that!

  • I just got the international version off Amazon. I cannot find my "city"when trying to sync the time. I'm from Florida and I live in Pompano Beach and it doesn't even display "Miami" as an option. Can anyone help me please? I already turned on the location settings.

  • what overheating??its a thing of past z3+...z5 had never any issues at all.z5compact does 40mins of 4k video without overheating-check out xperiablog.i recently bought a z5c and believe me-its worth it.way wayyyy better than my iphone 5s.5 hours of screen on time at 28% charge on my z5compact. unbelievable untill you experience this phone.camera is top notch.AND NO HEATING.PERIOD.

  • need comparison with Iphone 4.7 incher.

  • still thinking to buy.. the overheating issue makes me think twice..

  • Maybe some third party app running non-stop at the background. Ask someone check it for you.

  • sound is great i have wireless sony earbud z5 have a very good sound card

  • Does it have any lag or touch issues ?

  • Just upgraded from Z3C to Z5C... Phone really warms up fast during the downloading of apps... When i woke up this morning, did a few minutes of browsing, phone warms up again really quick... I really hope Sony would have a software fix to this heating problem... Otherwise i would regret the upgrade from Z3C... The Z3C is an awesome compact phone.. Battery life is awesome.. My Z5C is heating up quite hot now as I'm typing this comment... 😢 it also rebooted by itself 3 times today.. 😨

  • Hi guys, I've bought the Z5 on 27 the Oct and its just fantastic... No overheat issues. Camera is awesome.. Performance is buttery smooth and the experience is Sony . just go for it. No heat issues at all

  • In the first place they wouldn't accept that use the Sony sensors on their phones on the first place

  • Consider some game need shaking or motion turning the phone, it is better have attach eyelet lanyard to prevent phone drop off. And the DC always have the eyelet lanyard for easlier grip the device. Then at the swimming pool, water easily splash to the phone and become slippery, so the eyelet lanyard is the best way to protect your phone..

  • OMG the phone has an eyelet! I so need that.. thats great for girls that dont have pocket any our clothes so you don't drop your phone while dancing.

  • I too like eyelet lanyard. it does not spoil the show. there is no harm but it is always good to have it for those like to use it. What is the harm having it there. As such I feel all mobile units should have it.

  • Just hold it properly mate and you won't drop it. :D I know, it can happen to anyone anytime but If you like your phone, you will be careful with it. Just my opinion.;)

  • Eyelet lanyard is very nice, while gaming you can play without worry drop off the phone. While taking photos it can prevent drop off too example like the usually Digital Camera do. While playing at the pool it could also safety from drop off from hand. While in the bedroom or car, it also can be use to hanging

  • Why do SONY still do these ugly lanyard eyelet? It ruins the nice minimalistic design of the phone. No one is using them anyway. I don't know anyone using it.

  • Dxomark is the realistic, but sams and Ifruit wouldn't believe, why don't you ask them to face the realistic?

  • Can anybody tell me about the battery life. Is it better or similar or not so good as compared with Z3 compact?

  • come on be realistic please!!!

  • Anyone tell me plz, how is pic quality of camera with flash and, is there heating problem?

  • All I see is fanboy type comments everywhere. I suppose it's bound to happen, however I'd just like to say that I have been swimming, rafting and cliff diving with my phone in my pocket and it still works fine. It sounded a little fuzzy for a couple of mins when I turned the speaker on but otherwise fine. My friend has an iphone 6 and my battery embarrasses that easy peasy. It's all down to preference really as there are so many excellent phones on the market, and yes this is one of them!

  • For those of you who have reported issues with the camera software, have any of you tried a different camera app such as the official Google/Android one? Was it any better or faster?

  • I have the Z3 compact for 1 year and it is for me a benefit that I can handle the device with one hand without be worried that it could fall off. The dimensions are VERY similar between the Z3 compact and the Z5 compact. I recommend this phone over every other about this size. And according to the photo comparison this site brought, the camera looks better in the compact version than the regular!

  • that is a Sony basher site.no one has reported anything, ok?that siye is full of lies.so stop trilling everyone based on false info.

  • Z5 compact or Z5 ? how is the Z5c in the hand? I've been using the Z1 for 2 years, and don't want to go to a smaller screen, but the Z5c has killer specs in a hand-friendly size.

  • Yeah you know what? The Sony Ericsson K800 with that signature Cyber-shot camera with autofocus is at least representing the design of a cellphone that came from 10 years ago. Can you please mention any similarities between that one and the Z5C? At least get the facts right before you post an opinion.

  • If they want to sell a small phone for 600 $, Sony should at least make it look good and not like a phone from 10 years ago. No Wonder Sony is going bankrupt...Dreaming of an S6 Edge with 4.7 " screen...

  • Samsung Trex in your's pocket, why they compare them, my aim is small powerfull phone with gr8 cam, ther is no doubt in my mind whos the winer!

  • The Z5 Compact have a durable design and a signature engraved logo for express it unique and not copy from others. The UI is very smooth, because it only 720p and good 323 pixels density for 4.6" screen and have a powerful processor and the Xperia UI is lightweight than Samsung phone, and the Xperia gallery app is the best and the fastest preview image app. The both phone are great but the Z5 Compact score 86 hour in endurance test, the S6 Edge score 73 hours only, the winner is clear Z5 compact have more than S6 Edge 13 hours endurance.

  • Too bad Samsung will probably never launch an S6 mini, their best small phone being the terrible A3.

  • and I believe it's cheaper

  • I guess we can compare it if they dare to lunch a galaxy s6 mini

  • I like the Z5 compact but i love my S6 Edge. Z5c is boxy and bad looking, camera is so-so and UI very sluggish. Love my S6 Edge for its fantastic screen and looks, great battery, fantastic low light camera and powerful speaker. I got the 64 GB version so lack of memory card is not a problem. But i understand people could prefer Z5c depending of what features they are looking for. Both phones are good. Wish that S6 Edge was smaller.

  • I wonder if the phone will be plagued by the cracking screen syndrome. It is already reported by the verge:

  • But Z5 compact also overtake S6 edge by these: 1- waterproof and dustproof 2- FM radio 3- micro sd card support up to 200GB (compare S6 Edge no micro sd card with maximum internal storage 32GB / 64GB / 128GB only) 4- pocket size and comfortable for one hand operate 5- durable body design 6- flat camera len compare to S6 Edge have upheaved camera len 7- camera 23 MP pixels 8- selfie assistant app 9- better endurance 10- better music play time endurance 12- DSEE technology and Noise cancelling support 11- LDAC High Res Audio support 12- dual heatpipes and thermal paste 13- stereo speakers 14- lower price group 15- faster fingerprint unlock 16- hardware camera button 17- lanyard eyelet port 18- faster photo gallery preview 19- hybrid autofocus 0.03 seconds

  • Z5Compact is light at 138g, but S6 Edge is only 132g and has far better specs....

  • Gram for gram it is the most powerful smartphone on the planet.

  • Z5 compact is great ....... so far battery life is awesome every bit as good as Z3 compact. The big one for me which is why I got rid of the Z3 compact was on ATT the Z3 compact had SMS and MMS issues that never got resolved. This appears to be fixed on the Z5 compact no issues Identified so far. Really Happy.....best small android phone on the market.

  • hi all that already own one. do you listen to music with headphones? hows the sound quality? do you get a decent volume level?

  • Z3 compact lower its battery life if upgraded to lollipop. The z5 compact has lollipop OS so that's why the reason the it was lower battery life than z3 compact. I heard the Marshmallow OS has better battery lifespan the previous OS. So what if the z5 upgrade to marshmallow OS the battery will improve its lifespan?. GSMarena can you give battery review if the z5 is on the marshmallow OS?

  • Since I still haven't inserted the SIM card into Z5 compact and using both phones (Z3 compact using SIM and Z5 compact using Wifi) at the same time, I don't think that I can give an accurate figure to you. By the way, the last time I tried recording a 8 minutes 4K video with steadyshot enabled during testing, it consumed about 5% of overall battery with just warm on the phone body. I did a full charge yesterday afternoon, now after nearly 21 hours I still have 80% without SIM, only Wifi usage and in relatively light use, just little browsing in Chrome, YouTube, Google+, instagram, setting up E-mail, etc... I says I still have 1 Day and 7 Hours left on battery, I guess it could be longer giving this light usage. I think the battery performance is barely the same as my Z3 compact, but could be longer in some applications which I'll try to test it later. For your comparison, I need to charge my Z3 compact every 1.5 - 2 days depends on usage. Cheers!

  • Thank you! Some updates to my phone, since I have a Z5 compact in white colour, I'm one of the "lucky"/victim having the touchscreen problem - the lower part of the screen not functioning well after several minutes of heavy usage - I got my phone replaced with a new one yesterday and the problem was gone. Today, I read a forum announcement from Sony that a software fix will arrive next week to solve this problem. If I knew it earlier, I would have waited for this software fix instead of changing a new one. Regarding your question on screen protection, I think screen protector/tempered glass is definitely a must no matter how strong the screen of the phone is. I use a typical Tempered 0.33mm glass protector for my Z3 compact and this Z5 compact (Just costed HKD67), it doesn't affect the sensitive of the touchscreen and it gives a good protection to the touchscreen. I recommended my friend to add this tempered glass protector to his iPhone 6 last year, and it saved his phone from shredded screen when falling to the ground (about than 1.5m drop with a few bounds) a few weeks ago, only 2 long cracks on the protector were found, just replace the tempered glass protector with a new one and the phone was reborn! By comparing to the price of the phone, that's a really big cost saving protection to the screen! Therefore, I do recommend doing so as it's quite practical in most cases. Cheers!

  • Hey buddy, please let as know about real life battery comparison z3c vs z5c. thanks

  • Thanks Aspros again, now I won't even think of it.. Will continue with my Z3C and I hope to find the protective glass for the back panel as well, get well built strong covers, though it has beautiful color, The green one. I don't play much games, I have a backup external memory and it's all good.. Thanks so much. :)

  • I'd also like to know. If this works on Verizon, I'm in!

  • Nice review mate. After having so many Xperias, could you comment on the screen scratch resistance ?? Is it easy to scratch ? should i plan for a screen protector, or is it any near the Gorilla glass ? cheers

  • no overheat issue so far, tried taking photos and capturing 1080p60 and 4K video with steady shot enabled, similar to Z3c. I have both Z3c and Z5c.

  • I have both Xperia Z3 compact (used for a year) and Xperia Z5 compact (just bought 2 days) currently. I don't have any experience in overheating so far, the body and internal temperature is almost the same as Z3 compact - I just had overheat issue with Z3 compact once, after recording 20 minutes 1080p60 video under super sunshine, otherwise, the Z3 compact is pretty much cooler than most Android phone. The Z5 compact is more responsive than Z3 compact (for me Z3 compact is already very fast), and the finger print sensor is fantastic, extremely fast! I tried the demo unit in a local Sony store a few times - including video capture in 1080p60 & 4K H.265 with steady shot enabled - before buying it in another local store, I do recommend buying it and I'll continue test it and see if there're any problems may have. Hope this quick summary may help you a bit on making decision. My experience on Sony Xperia: acro S, V, Z, Z1, Z3 compact, now Z5; I think I can claim that I know the up and down side of the flagship Xperia family.

  • Plastic body, the back panel is made from glass.

  • Any z5 compact users or those who bought the phone already please update us hows the phone is.... has sony fixed the overheating issue on the snapdragon 810 already? A lot of bugs in the phone like the m5? Does is really take wonderful pictures? Is laggy at all? PPlease tell us....

  • Not just teenage girls they attract (Apple) also other users thank you very much! Not doubt you've not got an iPhone and probably here as a troller! Last time I looked in the mirror, I can only see a business man!

  • Screen too dark because adaptive display is enabled. Lag because software is bugged and you must reset it. Price is high I agree. But galaxy s6 is really cheap because it isn't selling as much as Samsung's expectations.

  • The back in Z5 compact is made of glad, exactly like the Z3 compact, I dont know if its a different more resistant glass, but it is glass. At pics, it gives the impression that it is plastic, but in real life you understand it without touching it, you can tell simply looking at it. Sony mostly adressed the fingerprint magnet issue that haunted Z3c, anyone worried for the glass, can buy tempered glass protection, or use a case. The back glass is like a winter window, in real life it takes exactly the color of the side plastic, so everything looks symmetric and elegant thats why I said it is not as bad looking as it looks at pics. However the looks in Z3 compact for me is top notch and beats Z5 compact, hands down. Also the battery in Z3 is much better than it is in Z5. Overall i wouldnt recommend you to upgrade to Z5. The only major advantage is the 32gb internal space. Unless you dont play +3gb games like Real Racing 3, it is likely that you will be dissapointed, the looks and the battery are a step back and once you are used with such high standards, Z5c will feel like a compromise. For every other user the Z5c is the obvious choice over Z3c...

  • yes, Z5 Compact is OCTA-CORE Quad-Core 1,5 GHz Cortex + Quad-Core 2 GHz Cortex = Octa-Core Snapdragon 810

  • it is octa core...not quadcore...

  • Thanks for the information. I started searching and I found information on the Net that the problem indeed existed and it efficiently prevented me from buying it. And it was not because of mechanical shock, but due to overheating, so even the best cover would be of little help here.

  • why SONY doesn't release chrome color for compact series?

  • Snapdragon 810 = Quadcore + Quadcore = OCTACORE Xperia Z5 Compact use Snapdragon 810 processor so, it is an Octacore Phone

  • Guys.. it says Quadcore in few webites(like gsmarena) and in some other sites.. it says Octacore..?? Im confused ( '-')

  • Thanks for the detailed review buddy, I wanna ask about the phone body? Is it all plastic? Even the back of the phone? I have Z3C for a month now and I fear breaking the back glass, so please tell me is it glass in Z5C or plastic? Considering to upgrade somehow, do you recommend?

  • i have z3C and the glass dont "break it" if u drops in some ways it will crack eventualy, just buy a 1$ cover for 500$ phone and u will be OK.

  • And I am most interested if the cover glass tends to break up, just like in case of Z3 Compact.

  • That's barely considered a review for just trying it in a few seconds. You need to buy it and use it for a couple of days as well.

  • Z5 compact is very fast compare to others. the Atutu get high score, so the only problem is you.

  • Just tried it. Good speaker, quite loud. But really plain sad design, big bezel, very laggy in all menus, gallery and camera. Screen too dark. For the price of S6 edge now ? No thanks...

  • sharp aqua mini with 487 pixel and 1080p is a very good display but endurance must very weak, I know you will never buy it,because you already said it only for Japan, so why mention it?

  • Sharp Aquos Mini (or SHL24) is a 4,5 " phone... 1080p, 487ppp, Snapdragon 801 and waterproof. Sadly only for Japan.

  • don't pretend you are troll, you said you want Sharp Aqua, but it is a big phone, now you want to find a small? You may get another new ID keep trolling now :D

  • Xenon flash really? Its not mentioned any where

  • C5 Ultra is 6" phone. I am looking for a small phone. And sadly S6 mini seems to have been dropped.

  • why don't you choose C4 to yourself?

  • go away troll.dont like it-dont buy it.and no Sony is not going to do anything which you mentioned.thnx-samsung paid agent

  • Another thick, plain, boring looking phone ...Why Z5C has so big bezel when Sony can make thin bezel like C Ultra ? I read Sony is going to probably shut down its mobile business in 2016, no wonder when they sell their 700$ flagship phone looking like a 50 $ chinese phone...I am in the market for a small high-spec phone, wish i could buy Sharp Aquos mini.

  • Carrier dependent; headphones in box from O2 UK

  • If sony includes 3 features in their phone no one can beat it.1)s-master amplifier like walkman 2)oled display 3)xenon flash and OIS in camera

  • the retail box don't have headset.but headset coms in another box along with phone box.so you get 2 boxes-1 phone box and 1 headset box.and the phone box has no headset. ps-the head set box has a premium dnc headset..

  • It appears both versions of z5c (e5803 & e5823) are missing the aws band (1700 mhz) needed for t-mobile 3g network. The lte will be supported though.

  • I've crossed checked some info and I think it should work with at&t but not sure with the others.

  • I watched unboxing video in YouTube, earphone not included

  • Ringtones use both speakers or only one ? How is their loudness. Thanks

  • Does anyone have the E5823 version? Will it support US Tmobile Lte?

  • Does the z5c come with a pair of headset?

  • just got it from sony website a week ago. I come from a z3 compact and it feels more premium. I expected more by the camera but i read that the camera app is not the final one and they're going to update it in a month. but i kinda love it!

  • its out now my better half is getting his delivered on monday

  • its avaible now my other half is getting his delivered monday

  • Hi guys, any idea when it will be available in the UK?

  • You really believe in that overheating shit things that samsung made in the first place to sell their chips better? The only devices that overheats are samsung devices.

  • Pl comment more on your experience handling it in the normal use. I am just waiting for its availablility in India or in the gulf countries to get it.

  • I have the oneplus 2 which uses the snapdragon 810 and I have had no issues with overheating at all and im a fairly heavy app user.

  • I got it! The phone delivers without a headset, but with a screen protector. The plastic frame does indeed feel premium, ok not as premium as its metal siblings, but much better than other plastic ones. The screen protector Sony delivers is king a matish, so with the frost glass back, you dont have to worry about any greasy fingertips, in any of its surface. Stereo speakers give out vibrant, loud, but clear sound, even at maximum volume, the sound is not distorted, unlike earlier waterproof iterations. With earpieces, i ve tried out the iPhone ones and the sound enhacement is exceptional, i ve noticed tones and effects, like background phonetics, that i ve never perceived before in my favourite tracks. The overall performance is spectacular, not only on benchmarks {always over 61k on antutu even with 30apps running in background) in games in particular, i ve tried the latest Nfs and RR3 and the framerate was stellar, with the graphics of course on the highest level. The resolution helps such games to look even better. The temperature rises a bit, after heavy gaming, but much less than i was used to with my G3, The 810 is finally tempered! The battery is simply good, much better than G3 but not extraordinary like it was with Z3c, its about the G2 levels. I was mostly impressed by the contrast, comparing it to G3, it feels like the later has very washed out colors and i am sure that the Z5c has overdone it with saturation, but the huge advantage comes from high luminosity. Sony ever since the first Z was under fire for poor contrast and brightness and they made sure noone is going to complain about it again... Today i will test out the camera and Gps performance. Feel free to ask any questions.

  • Anyone here with this z5c experience overheating issue? I'm considering to get this phone in Yellow but when I heard Sony opted to go with Snapdragon 810 i was like darnn. I love everything about this phone except for the snapdragon 810 part.

  • But don't compare it to iphone prices....iphones aren't the most expensive and they are actually some of the cheapest in terms of quality compared to other flagships...their phones cost much less to manufacture than a z5, an edge or a note 5 for example; yet they sell them for a premium price because they invest a lot in marketing to convince teenage girls that they offer premium handsets....

  • I've had my Z5 Compact for a couple of days. No overheating so far :)

  • I read an article which predicted price for Z5 was USD 1000, after the real price revealed , it is cheaper. But the price is still expensive as Iphone.

  • Battery endurance test pls! im afraid not so good as z3c...so sad.

  • This awesome phone hasn't released in India yet. @Z5 Compact users from other countries.. has anyone encountered 'over'heating issue in z5c with continues 1 hr usage? (Not 4K recording)

  • Thats the only one you can trust. The reviews are not biased. Just pure skill and facts. If you look at some other websites, some will tell S6 is the best, some 6s, while the rest will tell G4. Sites like CNET and other American websites are Apple biased. Phone arena Samsung biased. Atleast Dx0mark does not do biased reviews. They review JUST the camera.

  • Is this sony xperia z5 compact already available in the philippines?

  • How loud are the speakers ? Z3C was quite soft...

  • Hello all, with what kind of earbuds you are getting your Z5 compact?

  • I think they want to separate different generation, if you like silver you can choose the z3 compact white version.
