T-Mobile G2x - User Reviews

  • This was my 1st samrtphone. In the beginning, it was really cool. Especially the clear 8 MP front camera. But as time goes by, it becomes very slow. I almost throw it. That's why I bought a new quad core phone.

  • I am a long time user of this phone had it for years, survived a house fire still using it in 2016 And it still works great for me.Not my main phone but I still use it a lot

  • I know its a good phone. Sure a little slow but all in all its a very good phone currently typing on one. People always bash non Samsung and apple phones ill give this phone a 9/10

  • This phone is great... as long as you root it, drop CM7 on it and only use it as an mp3 player.

  • If you just bought this phone Aug. 25, 2015 you got swindled. I bought this phone 4+ yrs ago and it was the top of the line. They stopped updating the firmware like 9 months into its release and it downgraded in performace ever since then and has continually sludged down. I suggest you trade your phone in and get a new phone. I am getting my Galaxy Note 5 delivered tomorrow. I am so glad to get rid of this phone although it has been great up until lately. PS: Also when I upgraded to my new Note 5 I was told by T-mobile that it was good that I was upgrading because they had just downgraded the G2X's data to only 2g instead of 4g. They offered me a free $100 phone (junk) but I wanted the Note 5 so they took $100 off of the price of it. I hope you end up getting the device you will enjoy.

  • Hi what is wrong with this phone?i just bought this phone last week n is very slow, it switch off at any time ,i cnt put memory card in n when i do so the phone cnt turn on n it normally heat. This phone is really a bomb. It shd be out from the market. Is too disgusting

  • Can't i upgrade the phone, and I'm having problems connecting to the net

  • Im using mobile 2 years based on that im sharing my experience actually its Poor mobile quality and rebooting frequently. Many times hangs on frequently need to reboot manually and many time manual switch of / reboot also will not work due to that we need to remove the battery to reboot the G2x mobile. Its really worst experience for me.

  • Slow ... slow .... slow ....locks up .... needs lots of reboots to keep it above very slow ...

  • pls if i share file it go straight to phone memory why or there is a settings? 2. pls show me the fm radio??

  • why does it go off automatically when am downloading some staff online

  • Ive had this phone for a year. its horrible. very slow and slow and old operating system. dont bother.

  • can I get the network unlock pin. from Kenya

  • Don't be so obvious annonymouse

  • how unlock my lg can you send me the unlock no.

  • Its a decent phone, but kinda wish I could upgrade OS. It has actually survived children, which is near impossible. Got it when it was new, but should problably upgrade.

  • Im writing this right now on my tmobile g2x. I dont know what all these people are complaining about... do you guys all work for apple or samsung or something? I got this phone a year ago and it still works great and does everything i need it to. This isnt exactly the iphone 5 but i didnt have to spend 400 bucks or get on a contract to get one. Hdmi out is great. Decent tegra 2 3d graphics. Camera is decent. 4g and wifi work well. No dropped calls. Touchpad is responsive. I do wish i could update the os and get hid support for a bluetooth keyboard though. I havr had a freeze here and there if too much background stuff is running but i dont need to run 20 apps at once anyways.

  • hello guys i need help, my videos are not displaying big as a used to be. my videos r very small when i'm playing them.

  • update your g2x manually on lg.com to version P999-V21y and the shut downs/overheating etc should all be fine after update. automatic updates Over the Air were limited time, you must update yourself now to fix those issues.

  • I was very excited about this phone when I first purchased it having been told that OS would be updated "in a few months". However, after three years and counting the OS never got moved up from GB and the phone started to act up by shutting itself down and sound becoming really annoying, speakers almost unusable... I think the class action law-suite is in order. They should at least know if you don't deliver, you pay.

  • I got a letter in the mail not long ago saying I might be part of a class action lawsuit involving this phone. It said there were known issues with things like freezing, spontaneous rebooting, and other things that made the phone not worth the price. If I had COMPLAINED about this to T-Mobile prior to a certain date, I was eligible to receive something like $20 in compensation. This phone has been junk since around my third day of owning it - do yourself and favor and pass it by.

  • Honestly, I was fine with this phone for a couple of days. Then it started to freeze up, got slow, etc. I now hate my phone. It is slow, turns off and on randomly out of now where. I have had my G2x for about 1 1/2 years im pretty sure. I do not recommend this phone. Look for either an Iphone or a droid razr m. I am getting one of those. DO NOT GET THIS PHONE. HONESTLY THEY NEED TO GET RID OF THEM. THEY SUCK.

  • nope. LG said it will never get ICS.

  • it can upgrade to ICS or JB?

  • Hello all Is there a method, program, or updated, which makes the device used to read the text written in Arabic without sporadic shows it as well as you can add Arabic as a language in writing within languages Amugodh writing on the device and thanks

  • is there any way to call native 3G video call by G2x

  • 1.download this and install 2.connect ur phone & complete drivers installation 3.Go to settings>wireless>tethering>usb tethering (tick) 4.disconnect & reconnect

  • Cant connect with my computer, am using windows 8. I have tried everything, I need the specific drivers to install on my pc. somebody help. my email [email protected]. thanks

  • why is the notification leg of dis fon not working ...

  • hi. I've been using this phone for some time now and it's very a good phone buh for about a week now my camera has refused to work. I've done a reset buh it still wdnt work. any help please?

  • Great phone - no dropped calls, excellent call quality. Decent camera, better than most phones. Quality all around - nice screen, good luck and feel, battery life is above average. HDMI port! HSDPA data speeds on T-Mobile are quick. Durable. Fair selection of accessories available. Bluetooth and GPS work well. *WARNING*: The G2x/P999 is *crippled* by T-Mobile/LG - no upgrades past Android 2.3.x Gingerbread - No 4.x/Ice Cream Sandwich/Jellybean! There are still no fully-functional aftermarket or 3rd party ICS/JB updates available, and there are not likely to be any. There are some that seem to run very well but CAN NOT access the phone's radio properly, due to LG/T-Mobile's reluctance to release the necessary information. Thus aftermarket development for the G2x is virtually dead, and users are stuck with a very old base OS. NOTE: GSM Arena specs are also incorrect - related models (Optimus 2x/P990) do have an FM radio, this one DOES NOT have FM radio functionality. It seems the chip may be there but it is intentionally disconnected and can not be used, even with aftermarket firmware.

  • i have not found another phone like the G2x. I could use the phone and watch movies by connecting it to the television and no other phone does this. I could expand the memory by using a micro SD card. I would have like to see a new version of this phone it is one of the best phones today even tough it came out in 2009. I still use my phone today.

  • nope,im a globe user and using this G2x

  • My G2x LG p999 there is no radio inside how can I listen to radio without switching on my data

  • When the G2x came out 4 years ago (2009) it was one of the fastest phones out there with its duel core processors and nice 8mg pix.camera. I've tried out 8 different phones since and the G2X still holds up as one of the best android phones built. Today you can get faster and bigger but the bang for the buck in the Tmobile G2x is uncomprable. One of the biggest downfalls is the sceen blackout during calls (safty issue with phones) and not comming back while phone is away from face. However I had great success with this phone with very little dropped calls. The other reviewer that complained of dropped calls with this phone must realize that 85% of dropped callls is a network issue and location, not the phone. G2x highly recommended.

  • The G2X is the worst phone I ever purchased. The drop calls and lack of internet is shocking. I have contacted T-Mobile twice and both times they gave me Band-Aid results. I have been a T-Mobile member for 6 years, after the problems with this phone and the lack of customer service on their part it is time to switch. Evidently, T-Mobile does not care about their customers.

  • it's battery life is very short .....

  • Reset your phone is the only fix. It clears all the data and apps though.

  • hey Will you just help me?i just forget my cell's password , what should i do ?

  • I think this is the best phone i've used ever and i really like its features and all of its specs. so easy to use and also very fast with its data applications. Thumbs to its cam qualities and all its holographic display. #yolo#

  • I have had this phone for soon to be two years in August 2013. Right now it is July and I am dying to get rid of this phone. The phone is terrible. In the first few months that I owned this phone it was great and could be perfectly described by reading the good comments about this phone. I thought the phone was amazing and the best on the market. But read on. After a few months the phone started having minor problems like slight heating up and occasionally would get stuck. Month by month I came across more and more issues with the phone like having to force close applications more often and often and lagging more and more. A scary thing that happens is that the phone overheats so much that I can't even hold my phone for more then ten seconds. The problems that occur are the same ones just they keep occurring more frequently and will last longer. For example, when I try to open even the dialer to call someone the phone says I have to force close the application. I try opening it up again it does the same thing. I very often can't call people. This happens to not just one application but all of them. Eventually I got so worked up about the phone because I couldn't use anything! I couldn't take the struggles anymore so I took my phone to the T-Mobile store. The people at the store said it could be something with the battery. I took what they had to say into consideration and ordered a new battery. I put the new battery in thinking that it would make the phone usable once again, like it was in the beginning, but it didn't do anything at all. Not one thing was different. I went back to the T-Mobile store once again and said that I did what they said by replacing the battery and that it did nothing. The people at the store used my phone and could also see that the phone was exactly the same as it was before. Then they told me something that they didn't tell me when I bought the phone. The people at store told me that the phone is discontinued and that they do not sell it anymore because so many people have had problems with it. I knew I was hopeless from then on with my T-Mobile G2x. The people at the store gave me a new phone thinking that maybe it was just my phone with the major problems. I got a new G2x in the mail and it was exactly like my first G2x. At first works well then is just difficult, frustrating and sometimes impossible, to use. Now I am just waiting until I can get a phone that works and I am never buying a cell phone from LG again. I hope this review was helpful. These are my experiences with the phone and I am sure many others have had the same problems. In conclusion, the main point of this review is to express my feelings about the T-Mobile G2x and to tell everyone that this phone is awful and is the worst phone I have ever owned. DO NOT BUY THIS PHONE!

  • I actually traded a phone i had for this one. I've had I-Phones even, but this has got to be my favorite. Easy to use. If i could just find a pick camo case. lol

  • i think it does not have fm radio

  • Awesome phone. Unexpectedly good performance.

  • Why do I need to connect to the network before I can use the radio?

  • can it upgrade to Android 4.0 ICS, pls help me

  • Bought the phone almost 2 years ago and continuously had problems with the internet...even wen i traded it for a new g2x. It started freezing up on me a lot after about 1yr. The camera is not as good as u would expect but not horrible either. Audio isnt too bad. This is a VERY DURABLE phone for sure...so if you drop your phone alot then this is for u. Im not entirely impressed but i dont hate it. Rate: 5/10

  • how did you get the 4.1.1 on your T-mobile G2x...help me out

  • Got this phone from Wind Mobile two Octobers ago. I've long since rooted and installed CyanogenMod 7 and have more recently installed optimized custom kernels. In terms of stability, I've had more problems at the beginning with CyanogenMod 7 than the original Wind firmware, but over the course of two years my G2x had overall less problems than other ones running stock. The loudspeaker is crap, and the microphone isn't too good either (it actually records the sound coming out of the loudspeaker when it's activated -_-). Audio-out isn't too bad, and installing Voodoo allows the onboard Wolfson DAC to be exploited. There's still a lot of static coming out through the port and the amping still leaves a lot to be desired compared with the higher-end DAPs. I've never found the 512MB of RAM to be an issue at all. It should be more than enough for most smartphones. Battery life is acceptable. Left alone, with a few calls a day, this phone can last 24 hours before needing a recharge. Occasionally the phone has overheated, freezing the system, but this has been much more common when it was running stock than it was running CyanogenMod 7. This is not a particularly critical issue. Removing the battery and putting it back allows the phone to restart. Performance-wise this phone has become a lot faster after the kernel optimizations, and after over-clocking it gets pretty close to the newer quad-core smartphones according to the Vellamo benchmarks. On stock speeds it's already running games smoothly. I rarely use the camera, but it has proven disappointing. I would not rely on this phone's camera to take good still pictures. Video recording is also pretty bad. I've yet to use the micro-HDMI port, so I don't really know what to make of it. Overall, I have to say that while this is a good portable device, it is not a good phone per-se. Also, its potential has been marred by the refusal of Nvidia/LG to release source code for this phone, preventing it from running custom ICS/JB with a functioning antenna. This has forced most unofficial developers to abandon the porting of ICS/JB to this phone and move on to other projects.

  • I don't have Jellybean on my G2X, but having experience with ICS I would say to go to Settings -> Language & Input -> Your current keyboard settings -> Turn off Vibrate on keypress

  • select vivid mode from options.

  • Hi is it possible to upgrade ics or jelly bean on g2x ? if so how ?

  • hi can any one kindly tell me hoe to turn off vibration while writing text messages....i m using android 4.1.1 on g2x.....

  • hi i am currently using optimus g2x with android 4.1.1 just want to know that while writing text message cant find the way to turn off the vibration while writing the text message on on-screen key board.....kindly tell me the procedure to turn it off ....thanks

  • my phone keep poor picture?who can i keep good regulation picture?

  • Hi, you have to go xda I already sold this phone around a Year and now I have Optimus 4x, for me hellfire roms are nice but you have to know all about custom roms, I was using v1.5 and now have v1.9 go and take a look

  • no radio

  • Guys i want to use ics ... But as its officially not announced for this mobile so i cant find a stable rom... Please if you know where to download kindly give me link... I will be highly thankful to you for this act of kindness....

  • Which is the EMI number from the warranty information booklet?Or where do i get it?Is it the one on the package box?

  • 512mb RAM sucks? I would say yes and no. Yes because most of the new phones do have 1gb ram, unfortunately this phone was released 2011 and I guess LG didn't thought of using 1gb on their dual core phone lol. Anyway, 512 ram isn't that bad either, try using ICS on g2x and you'll see how fast this phone is. Cooling System - Biggest issue you'll have on this droid. Its CPU overheats which causes phone, camera or every app to hang and needs restart, it also sucks the life out of your battery :( Battery Life isn't that awesome but is pretty much usable, just be sure to be patient removing your battery when g2x overheats, next thing you know power is down to ZERO. aha! Performance - awesome!, it can match up in terms of speed, graphic engine. I don't have issues playing droid apps on this phone. Speaker - I guess, LG needs to rework on it's audio (Loudspeaker sucks), the quality of the sound is great when using headsets(you just have to learn how to play with Equalizer and whatnot) Camera - 8mp is doing what it should. But, It's getting some errors when recording videos. HDMI port - One of the plus feature on g2x. my rating: 8/10. P.S: haven't tried using network data (3G), I prefer using my phone on wi-fi hotspots :D

  • yes it's possible. I bought mine a year ago, just like what other says about g2x it's superior in quality except for its battery life.

  • Pls am using t mobile g2x and i cant find the radio icon

  • look for it under the media room icon. but remrmber you need to connect the headphone, even if you going to use the speaker, this because it usesas an fm antenna

  • i see radio in its specifics but i cant see it so i cvant listen to radio

  • had both g2x blows it away in all aspects except battery life.

  • Can't find my radio icon on my menu hence can't listen to the radio.

  • can someone tell the best to choose between LG Gx2 and T-Mobile mytouch 4G

  • It's 8 GB. Only 5 is available after OS and real space of memory in GB. Check any 8GB phones or SD memory's if they are really 8gb in space.

  • Specifications are wrong. It's 5 Gig internal memory, not 8.

  • I have bought this mobile about a month ago... I m having only 1 problem that 1080p videos lags alot.... plzz can someone tell me how can i play 1080p videos properly...??? thanx in advance....

  • Yes if you contact t-mobile

  • What are you doing with your phone? Did you maybe get a lemon? Because I have one and it works great. Battery lasts me about 1.5 days with conservative usage. I haven't had any problems with the stock rom. Can't say the same with cfw.

  • Yes you may unlock your T-mobile phone and use it anywhere in the world that runs on GSM. Unlike Verizon and Cricket, T-mobile phones are capable of utilizing the sim card function.

  • pls somebody tell me if it can be use here in philippines or it can be unlock here in the philippines..:-) your answer will be much appreciated..thank you very much..:-)

  • Yes, but it will work only for talk/text, since T-mobile uses different bands for 3G you wont be able to use data services.

  • can i unlock t mobile to use in india ?

  • I had a blackberry 8900 and upgraded to a Galaxy S....in about a years time I went thru 6 phones for either hardware or software issues....finally T-Mobile sent me this G2x....I have now gone thru 2 phones....the pictures taken are awesome but the phone itself is not so great...it freezes in an appt and I am constantly having to take the battery out just to reboot it...it is very limited on games you can play....

  • I had a Samsung Blaze and this LG G2X to try them together and I much prefer the G2X. It is somehow faster connecting and browsing.

  • Doesit have good gsm

  • I have the galaxy s blaze 4g for TMobile and I like the g2x better

  • I have the galaxy s blaze 4g for TMobile and I like the g2x better

  • How is your lg g2x working for you now

  • This have ics decent stable rom from xda developers and with that in mind is a good deal i got mine for 40$ and it was waaay better from my vibrant especially bc dedicated hdmi out most of the phones lack that, also build quality is good

  • The later models were more stable, but LG failed to update this ICS as they said they would. So many turned to custom ROMS which are "experimental" and blamed the hardware for the insuing quirks. LG still has a long way to go to prove itself, and maybe the same amount of time to rid itself of it's "Goldstar" past.

  • i have the G2X. im ready for a new phone, mainly because i love to upgrade. downside is, im on t-mobile pre-paid so i get no t-mobile help. as for the way the phone works, it has its share of problems. it freezes, and use to lock up. after the upate came out, it doesnt shut down anymore, just freezes occasionally. in most cases, you will actually move through applications faster than the phone can keep up. i didnt have this problem when i had the Galaxy Vibrant. when doing a lot on the phone, it does get hot. ive just started to have to take the battery out. just depends on whats going on and what im doing for it to freeze. i wouldnt reccomend this phone to anyone that doesnt have patience. mines is wearing thin!

  • I have this phone for over a year. I love this phone, it only need to upgrade to ICS.

  • The G2X is the worst phone you can have. It freezes, drop calls, cant hear and when you are trying to exchange it they will give you the hardest time and then will try and down grade you. When purchasing your phone please make sure you do your research because you will be stuck with something that don't work and they will keep trying to send it to you.

  • Bought this phone last year and it was okay for a while before issues came up. It overheats, randomly shuts down, locks up and requires the battery to be taken out, freeze on applications, and comes with WAY too many pre-installed applications that cannot be uninstalled. The GPS is also a toss up, I could use it close to home but when I actually needed it, I couldn't get a signal. Luckily I had picked up a map at a rest stop to finish the trip. It's fine if you want to text and game all day usually, although battery power drains rapidly. I've also had issues with the camera settings being unable to use flash or change any of the modes. I still haven't figured that out but I'm sure it's because I'm not very phone tech savvy. Last, I have issues with the phone storage; I'm unable to send things to my email because there is no space although I have 1.16GB left. I have yet to figure out how to correct this as well, but I've cleared logs, caches, uninstalled the 5 applications I've installed on the phone (that's right, I've only installed a handful because of issues). This was my first experience with a smartphone/droid and I would say it's not positive. I'll be downgrading and plan on not choosing one again just because of all the bells and whistles.

  • I have a blackberry right now and I'm thinking of buying this t-mobile and giving away my blackberry,so I want your opinion guys ,what do you think ? please reply I wanna decide real soon and I just thought it would really be better if I asked someone who tried the mobile before? ANSWER AS SOON AS POSSIBLE , thank you x

  • I have this phone in Nigeria i love is so much i had an accident with it and it damage where can i get it repair in Nigeria i took it to LG service center in Ikeja Lagos Nigeria but they denied it that is not there product that it belong to Tmobile in Usa how can i get the help here i still need it

  • Have owned this phone since April '11 and have experienced all the growing pains through the update cycle. Pros: - Wonderful build quality. Feels solid and looks good. - Speedy when new and love stock Android. - HDMI port is great for streaming media like Netflix to your tv. - MicroSD slot allows up to 32Gb additional storage. Cons: - Shockingly buggy when new - not well tested by LG or TMo before release IMO. - Current on all updates and have had to wipe the device twice to get it relatively stable. Still suffer from random lockups requiring battery pull. (Please save the uninformed "you don't know how to use a phone comments". Phones shouldn't freeze by simply hanging up a call.) - GPS is hit or miss. Sometimes slow to never on locking a signal - very disappointing if you're lost and need quick directions. Overall, I love it when it works but, it fails more than it should. Enough so that I would not buy another LG device unless it's been out a while and proven to be stable.

  • I have had iphone 4s, sgs2, htc various models. Honestly, none of the above were as fast and responsive as LG G2X. This is my first LG cell on android. Solid built, amazing pics and vids, battery life very good. Only issue i am facing that LG PC Suite does not detect it. It is a fantatic mobile!!! Well done LG!!!!!

  • I got the phone right as it was EOL'd, but that was rather intentional. I wanted a Tegra 2 device because to me they're interesting. At first I kind of regretted it. Mine came with FroYo and it was an unstable turd. I used it like that until around mid-March when I discovered that an official GB ROM had come out and I just missed it because I got it after the OTA cutoff. So I grabbed the LG updater and upgraded to GB. It was much improved in most areas, except the camera app, and I liked it for the most part but it was a bit flaky. In early May I got a notification of another update and this fixed almost every complaint I had about it. There was still some issues with the audio, but the random reboots/lockups have disappeared completely. Not a single one in the 2 weeks after that. And then this morning I found out that LG released YET ANOTHER non-OTA update that fixes sound issues. i've only used my phone for about 10 minutes of talk time since the update, but it fixed it in that time. Check this out: So yeah if I had owned this phone for a year, I'd be pretty ticked as it seems to have been something of a lot of wasted potential up until recently. As it stands with my experience, it's been phenomenal. I upgraded from an Optimus T and this is my first high-end Android device. I'll never go low-end again, I know that much.

  • you do know you have the option to buy a 32GB micro SD and expand ur little (mind) from 512mb to 32gb.. yeah buddy, think about; not too hard though..

  • Maybe you need to read the directions because I have one and I can honestly say I have only 2 minor issues which may be operator headspace on my part...too many people seem to like this phone for one to not

  • Benchmark apps (AnTuTu for example) see less memory on pretty much every phone than what's built in. On all the Samsung Galaxy S devices, you see around 310MB of memory, so the extra 56-64MB free on this would be a big step up. It's not a deficiency of this specific phone, it's just how it works.

  • people who are complaining about this phone don't know how to use a phone. this is one of the best phone i have used. and i love it more than my galaxy sii. if you really want to see the power of this phone. head over to xda-developers.com , and try one of the custom ics rom (4.0.4) and you will be surprised by the speed of the phone. the camera is perfect for me. and the front facing camera is too good for skype and gtalk video calls.

  • i hav now owned this phone for over 2 months, and it's the worst phone i ever used. 512mb ram- noway enough!! pathetic camera quality, even more pathetic speaker sound! music quality also bad.

  • 368mb RAM because 128MB is used for video card Nvidia

  • i have one too and i also have 372MB RAM sigh!!!

  • is your reply for me?? My response to the person isn't a question. i also have the g2x. therefore, I was answering his or her question about g2x's gorilla glass.

  • Pretty sure it does have the gorilla glass. I've been using one for the past 5/6 months and no scratches on mine with no screen protection. From what I read from other sources it should come with gorilla glass as well.

  • it does have a corning gorilla glass, according to tmobile agents. gsmarena specs is slightly different than tmobile's.

  • I have T-Mobile G2x and i only have 372mb RAM total, why is it less than the specified RAM here?

  • how to i got this mobile and where i will buy it

  • not corning gorilla display?

  • yes skype video calling working perfectly on this phone .

  • Skype video call working or not?

  • I love my G2X but why doesn't it have swype mode for texting or hands free texting????

  • Go to xda developers forum and search for this phone.

  • how do you upgrade this phone to the new 4.0 version ice cream sandwich platform

  • don't underestimate this phone. i just upgraded my G2X to icecream sandwich android 4.0 . Its running smooth and blazing fast. It's not official android 4.0 , it's custom rom . luv this phone. it's super cool. it's more handy than my galaxy sII.

  • you do have 512mb ram. You're system uses 140Mb+. It shows the available ram not the capacity

  • I just luv using this phone. Buy it, go to xda site. Flash a custom rom of yr choice, and there u go. Truly one of the fastest phone with a super clear display. And hey play games on yr hdtv via hdmi . Hehe

  • the rest is set aside for the GPU

  • The 512mb of RAM seems to be a mistake. My device shows 372.4mb total RAM available.

  • Atrix 4g rules :p

  • amazing smartphone! however, the pictures on web pages via native browser are blurry. it needs improvement.

  • I am a cell phone dealer after looking at different phones to choose from for my self this was the best phone i found. What i like about it is you get the same and more features than the iphone for twice as cheap. Has perfect graphics, zero lag, awesome camera, big and responsive screen. The dual core procesor is amazingly fast. This phone is like my computer at home but on the go. heavy users i would recomend getting an extended battery.I bought one for myself for $29 on ebay. Overall amazing phone for a very low price(even without contract). I bought this phone without contract now i am using it with simple mobile $60:

  • it does, but t mobile asked lg to disable it so that they could force users to use data instead for mobile music. not sure if dev can make some kernel to enable it though. i was really hoping to bee able to use it as well...

  • Yes it does. It magically replaces the bluetooth 2.1 antenna with a bluetooth 3.0 antenna out of thin air.

  • If u update the phone's software does the bluetooth turn from 2.1 to 3.0

  • does this phone really have FM radio? i cant seem to find it on my phone... :(

  • Had my G2x since June. On the stock rom it has been better than any phone I've had, including G2. No shutdowns and decent battery life (a day.) I do carry 2 extra batteries for heavy GPS or camera use. This is essential for traveling. I occasionally have to toggle Airplane mode after getting weak signals around the city, in order to stop freezes and connectivity problems After being in a low-GPS area I have to restart the phone to get it to reset the GPS and get connected again. The camera takes amazing pictures but there's an annoying lag. Android 4.0 might fix this? Other problems I've had are due to my 300 apps installed! Must clean these out. I'll try Gingerbread and ICS soon, and report back.

  • it will receive 4.0. LG/Tmobile announced it, but it will be months before yo uactually see the update

  • Finally got it and I must say the screen is great but I prefer my Xperia Arc S and X10's interface and feel overall.

  • LG stop supporting this phone cause its getting old and outdated. they moved on to there new flag ship phone. wondering why they are claim a lose this annual.

  • Im thinking about buying this phone just because its stock android, but im wondering if anyone knows wether this. phone will get the 4.0 update?? I've heard the phone has problems but I figured ics was built for dual core phones, would ics turn this decent great spec phone into a great phone period??

  • Hi, this phone is great value for money, but make no mistake it is a high end phone - dual-core tegra 2. I would however recommend getting the LG Optimus Black, with slightly polished specs etc. Although this phone is better if you intend to use cyanogenmod and upgrade to gingerbread (and soon ice cream sandwhich quickly) - which does not support the Optimus black.

  • It's telling you the length of the video (M)inutes (s)econds

  • planning on getting this phone but I want to know if it is any good, someone with this phone can you give me your honest opinion. Thank you!

  • Right and when you're ready to take your training wheels off you can join the rest of us on our actual smartphones. Sorry Iphone isn't a smartphone just look at the majority of the users. Smart doesn't factor in. Spend more get less. i'm sure that makes it much better. /lol

  • YOUR ENTITLED TO YOUR OPINION... but I am a phone tech. I've usex many phones and used to think that iphones were heros. But after owning every iphone and now being a droid lover... the G2X makes the iPhone 4 look like a todller. Very capable but not quite.fully grown up yet. Lol

  • Use Cyanogenmod and let all problems go away :)

  • I am using this phone for almost 3 months or mOre. The problem i have is the phone always hang N freeze for no reason. I have never drop it at all. When i have this phone it was 2.2 software, then when it switch Automatically to 2.3 problem with camera. The options on camera are bad, no timer, brightness whn takin picture is also been set with number 1-2-3 not manually slide (which i prefer)

  • iphone is not a friendly user cellphone.. thats your opinion coz u are a iphone user.. :) but android kicks iphones!

  • i have no idea where u get the info from, but cameras on android phone are suck. i had try nexus s, galaxy s, nexus one, and even htc sensation.I also owning iphone 4, its best out of android phones but i like nokia phone's camera better

  • Try actually switching the WiFi connection off.. and see if that helps. I had a motorola dext, first generation of android phones and the problem is through out from various random testing I found when there is no wifi hotspot available the phone starts to hunt for the closests one and increases the power to the wifi connector as a result heating the phone up.

  • umm i'm sorry to say but android is a lot better and cleaner because iphone doesn't have some of the apps that the android phone does, and plus the camera quality is 10x's better then the iphone. The battery might sucks but that goes for all of the phones it depends on how you use it. You can do much more with android apps iphone most apps is unlock you have to jailbreak to get it.

  • I agree with the T-Mobile employee. He's just stating facts. All of the new major phones with dual core processors have short battery life, and also freeze up occasionally. The technology isn't there yet. Sure I want a cheap, superfast, application crazy, vibrant, super camera, video cam, PDA, and video recorder all in one right now too. But even if you pay, you won't find one.

  • that's the update for you...go to xda and flash the CWM using nvidia flasher...after that install the rooted OTA and replace your camera with the modded apk that is available at that website =]

  • Being an user of iphone4 i can say that nothing cn even beat the apple device !! Its just superb !! If u get one .... U wont regret later !!

  • Hi there. I'm not sure if it is. But after the update on my G2x. It doesn't say anymore if i'm recording in 1080 or taking pictures as 1080. It only says the quality. On videos, there's the high(30) Low(30M) MMS(Low 30s) and Youtube(High 10m). So is high a 1080 video? I don't even know what all these 30M means.

  • Great phone.. Once you get a good one..nothing beats it. Good battery, fast, sturdy, awesome screen, great roms and dev support.. Phone is great.

  • If you did the update that came out last month it would work flawlessly, you obviously are not tech literate. The iphone was made for people like you in mind go join the clones!

  • this phone sucks my dad bought it from tmobile and it shut itself down and doesnt want to turn back on so my dad had to take out the battery and put it back in to get it to work again and he only had the phone for less than a week s omy dad returned the phone and got a diferent phone

  • why my g2x heats up so much?, i have to turn it off several times a day, how i can fix that? and the battery life last just about 3 hours

  • Yes I'm not happy with new camera either but phone is doing great just minor freezes

  • I bought mine and have been using it on Wind in Canada, and it's been fine. I only messed up by doing the 2.3 update through the LG Update software (I agree, I dont like the camera app, and it has a bug while flicking through the camera settings...it wont stop till it hits the end) I do wish the battery life was longer, but again this is a dual-core phone. All in all still an awesome phone.

  • T-Mo (U.S.) just started rolling out the update to 2.3 You can go to your settings >about phone >software update and do the update OTA instead of waiting for the notice. Be aware that the camera app gets replaced (w/c I'm not particularly happy).

  • The phones been working flawlessly for me, (bought in canada from Wind Mobile) No call drops, late texts. I am not even having hardware issues like others. Ive had it a week so far no screen bleeding or reboots. The only thing is if you are using it intensively with both 3g and wifi on at the same time while charging from outlet (not usb on pc) it will heat up a bit. But this can be easily prevented.

  • I got mine on the launch date and it is nothing but troubles. I exchanged mine a couple times and still had problems like battery heating up after used, reboot by itself, network reset by itself causing drop call never had this problem with any other phone for the past 20 yrs of using cell phone, the worst one is the virtual keyboard keep messing up whenever i input something, the other side receiving a totally different set of number than the numbers I input on my end. The last time I call tech support, they said they will not sure if I will get a new G2x if I exchange again since there are more G2x on the market now, I might end up with a refurbished one??????? what the hell, I am not paying for something new so I can exchange for something used bc the product did not work the way it supposed to. They even charged my account for another G2x when it is suppose to be a replacement for the one did not work. I am still this date calling tmobile customer care to getting this fixed bc they keep saying they will make a case and investigate. Now I am stuck with a useless piece of shxt that will update "AROUND THE END OF THE WORLD CORNER" accordiing to tmobile customer care. Sorry tmobile but I don't think I will ever resign my contract again. For all of you who looking to buy this phone, forget about it, don't waste your time. And for those who looking to sign up with tmobile, please do yourself a favor to sign up with other carrier so you don't have to piss off in the future and waste your time typing up something like what i am doing now. Peace, I feel so much better now!

  • Does anyone know when will they come out the update to android 2.3 for this phone? I had this piece of shxt since they first came out and had so many problems with it. I exchanged 3 times already and still had problems and tmobile rep said that those problems won't fixed until the new 2.3 update come out for this phone.

  • Man, you have no idea what you are talking about. Dual core phones are supposed to be more efficient and use LESS battery. No, you should not have to root your phone to get better battery life. I got a brand new sim card with my G2x and still have data issues. The sim card is NOT the problem. The PHONE is the problem. The G2x is plagued with so many bugs, it's not even funny. Anything from wifi/cell data fighting for control, wifi not working at all, GPS not working, battery life indicator is not accurate, phone shuts off or reboots for no reason, signal going from 3-4 bars of 4g to no signal without moving the phone, signal indicator not being accurate... you get the idea. The handling of this phone from launch to the 2.3 update has been epically screwed up by T-Mobile and LG. Also, if you are going to rep. T-Mobile and say you work for them, learn to type properly. Trying to read your comment gave me a headache.

  • wat is live t.v...do we have topay extrax service for that....

  • I got a Nugent power extended battery now I don't worry about battery life

  • I got a Nugent power extended battery now I don't worry about battery life

  • So what options I can use to get a G2X since this will be my second time exchanging my MYTOUCH 4G

  • why do you recommend the root it will void the warranty? only reason i ask is that i have had to return two of them.... threes a charm finally wont keep rebooting for no reason.

  • T-Mobile employee commented correctly on battery life, I don't think he included one thing in layman's language. Part of the high speed thing is that it runs two radios to help get that speed. Of course running two radios is going to draw more. Most noticable when you run video/audio media. Then of course it depends on what else you leave on all the time (GPS, BT, WiFi, etc.)

  • any thoughts about the video calling capabilities of this phone?

  • just wondering if skype video calling works with all units except the one on my hand. also, i did try yahoo video calling and it defaulted with the rear camera instead of the front. is the camera designed to work this way, really?

  • just wondering if skype video call works on all units except the one on my hand? also, does the camera works as intended? i tried yahoo video calling and it defaults on the rear camera instead of the front. is it really the case with this phone? really?

  • Iphone can't beat G2X & G2X can't beat Human.

  • for real dowg, unfortunately we ain't gat one south africa

  • you could try expansys.com

  • This phone was the best phone I had so far, super fast if you want bigger screen, please get a tablet.

  • I work for T-Mobile so let me explain, measuring battery life outside of call time is trying to say how many days a tank of gas will last in a truck... it impossible(it depends how much you use it and how you use it) so stop saying battery life sucks cuz the G2X has 4G and a duel core so yes since it takes more it will use more... just like a truck compaired to a car, that aside, with any smart phone you will want to root your phone (in this carse super1click)to improve battery life, remove bloat wear, and improve how the phone reacts, the mytouch 4G gets returned at my store more then any other phone besides windows phones and we all know windows phones blow more then Elton John, so all of you mytouch loves need to give the G2X a try, the speakers aren't the loudest on the G2X but they are not any worse then any other phone, also the G2X has DTS so when you plug headphones in or hook it up to your car, home, etc it will sound more clear then any other phone, also the video card is better then any other phone also, if you guys are having 4G problems go to a t-mobile store and get a 4G card and that will solve the problem, otheer then that Android is Android you have to compair the hardwear, with the 2.3 update your battery life will increase in any Android phone, if you guys have questions or problems reply to this and ill help you out

  • Its the T-mobile US version of the LG Optimus 2x. Pratically identical and the 2x is available in the UK.

  • the phone doesnt have an FM Radio.. or at least none that i see

  • This phone rocks.blows my sgs away... No reboots, no screen of death, battery is alright, phone is wicked fast and has a lot of support..... I recommend this to anyone....

  • galaxy s 2

  • can someone please help me!!! i can't find this phone in the UK and i searched everywhere i reaaly want this phone, can someone please guide me and give me any related information. thanx

  • If you want an unlocked phone, go with the LG 2x If you want better feature (and bloatware unfortunately), go with the G2x. Relatively they are identical other then some differences in the O/S UI design. You can find both phones on GSMarena. Compare them. They are not much different at all but, to answer your question. The T-mobile G2x is better. It is very easy to Root, O/S mods are already out via XDA Dev site. If you know how to root and you've gone through everything I've done with it, you can remove the bloatware if you wish and unlock the Data throttling for maximum Down/Up bandwidth B-) Cheers!

  • What is the best phone? LG Optimus2x or T-mobile G2x? any recommendations???

  • Do Tmobile phone supports 3G in india? As the have 2100/1700mhz freuency.... is the g2x a world phone? meaning, will it word on every carrier that supports 2100mhz 3g band? PLease help

  • I got the phone from Costco with a coupon for $250 off plus $50 rebate. So I'm paying only $138 for this (include tax after rebate). For this price, I've a 4G phone, front and rear cam, 8mp rear cam, dual core cpu, nVidia Tegra, dts Ultra, HDMI output and a 4" HD screen. I can't complain more with this phone when I paid more for my darn old G1 with less feature and slow as hell. It even has more feature than the G2 which I'm glad I didn't get that. The cons are battery life like the other said. Standby time is good but once you browse the web or stream video/audio it drain very fast. Also, there's too much useless app installed by T-Mobile. I've to run an app to kill the useless app to free up the ram. I hope people on XDA will have new rom for this soon (haven't check yet) For people having problem with 4G, make sure you're using the new sim card. My old sim card doesn't work with 4G. I've to get new sim from T-Mobile store to make it work. Once new sim installed, 4G working flawlessly.

  • @fcodaniel That's neat! Did not know that! ::::UPDATE:::: Now, for the WiFi Tethering and USB Tethering.... -_- It does so appear that T-mobile is governing this new phone or I would think they are? In my last comment regarding the WiFi Tethering being throttled, I tried the option when I was down in Greensboro, NC. The WiFi Sharing worked great there but.... I am home now in Canton, OH. Phone SpeedTest.net detects up to 6.5mbps, (That's what I got highest after multiple tests). PC SpeedTest.net (with WiFi Tethering) detected nothing ("NOTHING") higher than .74kbps. (While Phone SpeedTest.net still continues to detect previous mentioned speeds).... PC SpeedTest.net (with USB Tethering) detected 7.89kbps (7mbs a second!). I'm not sure if trying Wifi Sharing again after USB tethering will show a change... I'm just content now that the WiFi Tethering option is being throttled by T-mobile deliberately, for whatever reason.. depending on the region where you live and have 4G speeds, like myself. Another reason why I think the phone never came with USB drivers!!!! I had to scurvy through forums to find out you have to download them from LG's website. huh... anyway.. so... USB Tethering works awesome for my laptop whereas, WiFi Tethering seems to only work (at 4G speeds), when it wants to. -Period-

  • hey guys need help buying the phone. can some1 let me know which phone is overall good samsung galaxy s4g or Tmobile g2x

  • It is important to indicate that for this device, there is an innovation in the market, the first intelligent cell phone, which brings DTS Mobile Ultra , this I can see from the following web address: This is impressive because the sound that offers no comparison with any other on the market. Greetings

  • Actually now, in junction with the unusual speed throttling while WiFi tethering, the phone seems to work great in Greensboro, NC with WiFi Sharing on. That is strange though I guess T-mobile regulates it in certain areas maybe? No matter, I got both usb and wireless to take advantage of. Still mad this phone doesn't have a thumb cursor... makes mobile browsing so much easier!

  • So far, I think the phone is okay. It does lack some features that my MyTouch4G (HTC Glacier) had. I'm not sure if the HDMI output feature will ever be handy but, a HDMI input would be nice. Phone ships without stereo/Mic earbuds and does not come with an external SDcard. I wasn't very pleased with the idea of an internal SD card thats not customizable within the phone. The portable WiFi.Hotspots feature completely sucks compaired to the HTC Glacier (MyTouch4G). Im a truck driver so, I travel to many cities with 4G. I run the SpeedTest app on the phone with both WiFi sharing on/off and get normal 4G speeds whereas on my brand new Toshiba X505 laptop, the speedtest from the laptop browser shows 2.5G speeds (.74mbps down) (1.2mbps up) (for an example). I ran speedtest again on phone both ways and then tethering USB. This time on laptop I was achieving same or near speeds. Didn't have that problem with the MyTouch4G. Also, LG neglected to include device drivers on the internal memory. Had to use phone to download the 32mb file. Once installed on PC, USB tethering worked flawlessly. Phone does not come with a thumb cursor. Which really sucks because I'm typing this review using this phone right now and, it's giving me a headache with the uber Bi-polar screen sensitivity. Don't like the Gorilla glass neither. Much to slick and smooth would probably explain the uber touch issue. Battery life is a joke. It does have dual-core...etc. yes but, I think they could have packed a better battery for it though. Remember capitalism always ruins things when greed gets in the way. PROS: Camera/Video Front camera. Dual core CPU. nVidia Tegra2. Size/weight. Cons: Bi-Polar screen sensitivity. No thumb cursor. Battery life. Lousy loud speaker. No extra accessories included (phone/charger only). Overall, I miss my MyTouch4G.

  • This phone does NOT I repeat does NOT have a FM Radio!

  • If TOGGLE SETTINGS is still in the Android market, download that. Its the best I've seen to close apps. :)

  • I'm pretty sure the phone auto detects the speed. it can only display 2g, 3g or 4g on the status bar. Seeing how it is more than just 3g, the phone is displaying 4g. I think the issue is your cell phone provider throttling you down. I have done speed tests in a "4g" enviornment and got 5mbps on the down where in the same location with the HTC G2 i only got about 2.5mbps. Newer 4G phones are capable of recieving over 14mbps. Obviously we are all being throttled at some level.

  • IF you buy a phone at full retail or an upgrade (after 90 days) they have to give you an unlock code. Otherwise it is a monopoly. The only catch is that you probably need an active tmobile account.

  • when does the upgrade for 2.3 come out? nd how do i get it?

  • nothing is free they wont give you the unlock codes, because they dont encourage it. but there are third party vendors that will ulock them for u for a fee

  • i personally own this device and im in Canada, its only a 3.5G device...from using this device on Wind mobile ( 3.5g )...it displays 4g?... tmobile isn't really offering true 4G.

  • This is the only phone can beat any phone. Number 1 phone right now in the market. Oo

  • This phone sucks I dont know what you people talking about.I had it for couple days and thanks God sold it on ebay. The battery sucks, the speakers are terrible so low, making phone calls my sound voice is not clear and if you inside the house very low reception almost no 4g trying to use google voice can get the connection all the Time.I am still keeping my htc touch 4g for right now everything I mention runs better on my touch 4g period.Dont waste your money you will regret it.

  • very attractive )) ... ill buy it )) ... it looks great and it is on of the most powerfull mobile devices in the world

  • and if we buy this phone from T-mobile off contract, how much does they charge for the phone and do they give the unlock code instantly? There and then?

  • Does this phone runs on Airtel(India) 3g bands?

  • hi please very low price i want this mobile

  • well i got mine since the date at came out and i dont have any , any problems this nagin saying Cons 1. GPS not quite good, may be an update needed 2. Phone Re-booted twice in 24 hrs.(not sure why) 3. I believe its not a True 4G but its just HSPA i do not have it at all. my Cons is 2.2 android. This Phone is away too powerful for 2.2 needs 3.0

  • Just bought the phone today and while trying to call and just got off the internet call would not go through and closed its self then I had to turn the phone off then turn back on to see if the phone call would go through and it did this already happen twice why I don't if its the hardware that they used that doesn't agree with the phone but I am returning to see what is bugging the phone

  • just got mine yesterday. so far it's AMAZINGLY fast. really nice screen, and there's no lagging or jerking with the os. the only down for me so far is the extra mile u have to go to, to turn off the running apps. maybe it's how android does it, but u can't just easily see all ur running apps and turn them off. n it really has a toll on the battery life =/ but besides that, IT ROCKS! ;D

  • im getting mine in 3 days too

  • I'm getting mine in 3 days, it's being shipped tomorrow!

  • I got my G2x yesterday and So far I truly like the Phone, I think LG took every one for a Surprise and certainly a new good beginning for LG I am sure their next Like of Android Phones will be much better. Pros: 1. Well Priced 2. Pretty Good Form Factor, Elegant Build Quality, feels very good in Hand. 3. Perfect Screen Size & Very good Resolution. 4. Extremely Fast Response (why not dual Cores) 5. Moderate Battery Life (not the best but Just Ok) 6. Very Clear Call Quality. 7. Picture and Video Quality Meets Expectations. Cons 1. GPS not quite good, may be an update needed 2. Phone Re-booted twice in 24 hrs.(not sure why) 3. I believe its not a True 4G but its just HSPA.

  • aka LG Optimus 2X 4G ??

  • So far a good phone but I do have a questions! How do you get the ffc to work when using the tango app? Thanks, Billy

  • yes it's 4G

  • Please double check the 3G specifications. Looks like it only has HSDPA 1700. See this:

  • it is 4g

  • ..really want to get this on Wednesday...curious though, do the speaker(s?) on the bottom sound any good? I primarily make calls, listen to music, and take pictures with my G1 and those are my concerns. Obviously browsing the web, games etc..too...just can't do much of that on my G1 which I assume this kills at

  • You need to root your phone to remove those preinstalled apps.

  • it is 4g

  • its 4G

  • how come its not 4G, or did i miss that, this phone has everything, cant believe its not 4G

  • if i use another provider does it works ?

  • hat there , i well have this mobile from us (gift) , ad am living in Jordan (middle east) , the ques is : does it active or works in Jordan ?? thnx

  • They are not removable apps. I have that problem rite now, with my touch slide.

  • Is this true, no Gorilla Glass on the TMO G2x version?

  • @Jim, this is faster than Galaxy S2, HTC Sensation and EVO 3D. Go watch those youtube hands on of this phone. It has insane speed. Stock=speed and fast update. You also get Tegra 2 games with nVidia support.

  • Stock does not mean it doesn't have apps installed. It means it is an unmodified version. No touchwiz, no Sense, no miui. Just good ol vanilla. That is what STOCK ANDROID is. Stop complaining. If you don't like the apps, root it and get rid of them.

  • so the tmobile version dont have gorilla glass but the original does huh i wonder why?

  • it's "stock" enough man.. just a few removable carrier apps isnt that bad..

  • it's not a stock android,it has t-mobile every where. t-mobile TV,t-mobile video chat and few others t-mobile apps,that you can delete them,from the phone,so that means,is not a stock android.

  • Faster than Optimus 2X with stock android and faster update.

  • sign me up!!!! sooooper excited for this phone, just hope it stands up to the super amoled display!

  • Best phone in the market for real. Stock Android with dual core processor.

  • This magnificent piece of mobile technology is definitely on my 'to get' list. Benchmark it? Absolutely. I can't wait to unlock and root it too. 4/20/11 is coming fast!

  • Is this phone going to work on T-mobile 4g network?

  • this is the lg optimus 2x with tmobile all over it....this phone is gonna be beautiful and run smooth

  • you are so funny .. its best phone on market .. it has 3d games like Unreal Tournament III from PC .. multi touch and super fast OS

  • It's LG Optimus 2X

  • does this phone have NFC (near field communication) like the nexus s

  • ok.....3D devices their screen colors sucks just look at the nintendo 3ds,3d devices without glasses they look terrible that's my opinion. just imagine the battery in a phone with 3d effects....

  • For now I'm assuming T-Mobile is still in the phone business cause they are only in the talking phase of the merger with AT&T nothing has been finalized yet! Also, when everything is finalized it'll take a year from then until the T-Mobile side of the house has to take any action! And, this phone is coming out 2nd quarter! Well, 2nd quarter (Apr to Jun), isn't both AT&T and Sprint coming out in June with 3D devices, the Lg Thrill for AT&T and the HTC Evo 4g 3D for sprint! Wouldn't T-Mobile do the same? Making the G2x old school? I just can't help to believe that one if not both the GSM HTC Evo 4g 3D or the LG Opitmus 3G, will make it's way to T-Mobile in June! Just something to think about! I probably get both the G2x and 3D phones! Billy

  • hey guys, whats the brand of this phone, samsung , nokia , lg....

  • Just played with this at CTIA 2011 in Orlando. It is amazing...if your on T-Mo in the USA it is your best choice. Screen is nice, it only lacks Android 2.3

  • It's a good cellphone, I'll order and bying. Thanks T-mobile >< Iphone 4/5. I hate you, Apple corp.,.

  • ok thank you , so g2x will be my next phone :)

  • YES it has multi touch. I've used this phone myself. Its incredible. They just don't have it listed correctly.

  • so this phone its doesnt has multi touch...no gaming ?

  • this is actually a rebranded LG Optimus 2X

  • T-Mbile says UMTS bands as: 850, 1700, 1900 and 2100.

  • T-Mobile USA's first quadband 3G phone.

  • SO which one is better this or LG optimus sereies!

  • this is good. GE force for gaming!

  • I want it
