This was my first android phone ever, and at the beginning, it was quite good, but after a couple of years of owning it the only problem was that the android didn't get any updates for this phone and it was still stuck on android 2 so there were some(quite few but still some I wanted) that you couldn't install. at the time the screen was gigantic for the average phone probably and performance was pretty decent.

This was my first android phone. My dad bought me this after finishin elementary and i remember how awesome it was... the live wallpapers and everything, and for its time it had a camera that was decent to me. Storage was the biggest problem. I still have it and it works, fond memories!

My OT991d is more than five years old, battery is the original and still powers it for days. And it plays music with a very decent sound quality (headphones). Well I don't really use it as a smartphone: playing music, 2G telephony and text SMS, FM radio, okay sometimes internet radio but that's all I do with the WIFI :) ROM is really too short, RAM is not much better. But mine is just the most reliable cell phone I've ever had. What can I add ... save your eyes: keep your phone dumb :)

The Alcatel OT-991 can take photos of 2560x1920 pixels. The Alcatel OT-991d is a dual SIM version of that phone. The Alcatel OT-991 doesn't support playing WMA files!

I have this phone and i'm going to buy LG L70. The Alcatel OT 991 is not so good phone, it keeps crashing and i can't download any app bigger than 15 mb! This phone has a lot of problems. 1. The internal memory. Only 150 mb. 2. The camera. My phone could not connect with the camera. 3. Crashes at least twice a day. I use this phone for two years and if you want a good phone, dont go with this.

I can say that Alcatel put one of the greater loudspeaker on that phone - the music is loud and clear comparing with my other three smartphones Samsung S3 mini, S4 mini and Alview A6 quatro; also the screen is larger than the one on the Samsung mini series (which are wide)

I do mobile repairs so I know my phones. I've been forced to use this alcatel in dual sim for over three months now and I must say (forgive my french) it is the sh******* phone ever made. OS seems to hold on only for a bout two weeks from factory reset then it goes mental. I experienced every possible error and bug android can give on that device. After two months you can't even make a phone call or send a txt msg without restarting the phone every hour or even few times in a row before it works properly. Many users have similar experience to mine. Forget about facebook app or even browsing internet. Almost all the problems are due to ridiculously small amount of available memory I guess. Anyway stay away! If you find it on the street leave it there and don't touch it!

Root it, install a rom mod like Jeffta v4 or Vesa (look for it on xda), use link2sd plus to move apps to sd card (plus version move all data to ext2 partition on sd card, must be a class 10) and phone becomes other!!! With this vitamins I can do much things with it - Sygic, Whatsapp, youtube, gmail, etc. Control running apps on RAM, things like auto sync and google maps would slow down this guy. Install multiling O keyboard, very lightweight and swipe function. Over 3G phone lags and freezes a lot, this is the real issue. Don´t expect to run games more than angry birds or blocks because it just has few RAM and low processor!!! Of course it as hardware limitations, but for the money you pay for it what do you expect?

what do you all expect from a phone which is 1/6 of the price on a galaxy 4 of an iphone 5??? if you are cheap and buy a cheap phone, don't expect much - this phone does exactly as much as you paid for it - but it is a good phone - it is much better than a galaxy ace or any of it's class - it has a built in flash, which no other same price range camera has, and also a pretty good scratch resistant screen - if you whant something better buy a phone for $1000 not 150$

I use this phone and one of the problems that I have about it is its low internal memory. Most apps crashes while using them and it's very slow. You guys talk about rooting, is it really effective? do you think I can do it on my own? Is it risky? Like if you so something wrong, you can damage the phone. Or should I get someone to do it for me? And can you remove shutter sounds when taking a picture? It's really irritating and makes it awkward to take pictures in public.

I have the phone over 1 year and 6 months bought from Kijkshop for 110e. First 6 months i had no problems with it after that battery life wen't down pretty fast and i had the guaraty for 1 year i wen't back and they gave me a new battery witch is good even today. Go in menu to application manager/instaled apps then press on witch app you want to move @ sd card and it will show you if can be move to sd card. Especialy games can be moved.

If you want to buy this phone and want to use apps like whatsapp, facebook, games, maps and stuff, you will have to root the phone to unlock the phone capabilities. What I mean by that is that the limited internal phone memoryis a huge letdown, but once you get your phone rooted, you can install link2sd which allows you to move you apps onto a partition on your SD card as if it was an extension of the internal memory.

you can find the Free Memory button when you try to install an app thats too big for the amount of space you have left, like when an app is 10MB in size, and you only have 4MB storage remaining. Thats when u get the error, and the Free Memory button

you can do some things to make this phone better,first root it you have guide on youtube and google,then unninstall gmail and all other apps you dont need,then you will have about 60mb free,then partition your sd card (for example I have 8gb sd card and I partition it so now I have 4gb for apps and 4gb for music and photos)now I have about 35-40 apps on my alcatel.the application you need to use is link2sd.just search in google you will find everything ;))))

when you get the error about not enough storage, click on Free memory. Then you click on an app, then choose Move to SD card. It won't move the app in its entirety for functionality purposes but a good portion of it will be moved so you can download and install more.

This phone is really a bad purchase. Do not buy it, because the internal memory is this low, that you can only install 5 or 6 apps. After the installation of whatsapp the cache gets bigger and you cannot handle this phone anylonger. It is really disturbing that the phone has many options, like wifi, like bluetooth, but only 150 mb internal memory. After 2 weeks you will be that frustrated that you want an iphone 4s.

All you have to do is go on GOOGLE PLAYSTORE you have it in the menu. Acces it and type there " skype for android phone " you can download it very simple. The phone is very good. I got it almost 4 months and i'm proud of it. With 3.5mpx camera i got no problems... For 89euro is a good phone :)

I got this phone on special sale. Happy so far, especially for the price. Pros: - One of the most well built phone I've ever owned, and I've owned around 40 phones of almost all brand (except Apple). You'll feel like it's made from one solid piece of metal. 10/10 for construction. - Good battery life. One day for heavy use, two-three days for light use. - Clear voice over conversation, at least from my end. - Look nice in life with matt finished back cover - 3G, wifi, GPS, dual sim, 4.0" screen...a lot of spec for your money Cons - Low res screen, limit viewing angle - Very low memory limit number of apps can be installed. SD card won't help much as apps need phone memory, more or less. - Mediatek CPU isn't well supported, incompatible to some apps - Bad camera

Alcatel mobile phones are very good to use, and their service response is good from customer service end, trust me. Go for it.... make your money worth..... or else pay more to other mobiles just for their brand names...... and for their commercial ads. I bought 3 Alcatel mobiles its good to use.

if you think this phone is worst in history of android phones then you never used LG GT540 Optimus. that mobile is worst! I just changed LG for Alcatel and I like it. yes, internal memory sucks, I agree with that one. I wish it has bigger internal memory but what to do now.. anyway, it's price is acceptable. and it's rare to find 4" screen phone now in this price rang (I bought it for 140$).. oh and baterry is amazing.. it can last for 2 days with surfing and playing with it..

I have had this phone for a month now and i love it. Its not good if you want to download loads of apps. I have an ipad so thats where i play games apps etc. but i only have facebook whatsapp kik twitter and skype on this phone so the lack of phone memory doesnt matter. Ther than that i love the screen size even though graphics arent great.... And also its just generaly a good phone.

After playing with this phone for the last couple days, my suggestion is: never buy any Alcatel phone for the rest of your life. They just design garbage. You won't be able to do anything useful on this phone, except making phone calls. Android apps? Forget it. Taking photos? it's worse than the baby toys at Toyrus. Don't even think about to root this piece of shit. You are just wasting your time. There won't be any noticeable difference.

cant use video call. low space for the internal memory. so some apps lags. not all apps can be move to sd even if you have app2sd. too many pre installed apps that u dont need. camera has poor resolution at night even if you use the flash.

thank you alex and kiko, my OT-991D has arrived and I tested it with this compatible version Skype_1.0.0.659.apk downloadable from the net and with Vtok. No videocalls with skype but with vtok front and rear camera are working in videocalls. I had some problems with Tango, it said that the app isnt compatible, maybe I was wrong in something or 991D and 991 are different. I also tried with Google+ for the vcalls without success.

i will try that mood version nurabsal. front camera in tango is working. did you read a change log for mooded version...*Video-calling needs compatible CPU (ARMv7). If your phone's CPU is not compatible, Skyp will keep crashing/looping at login!*. I thing that ot-991 have a ARMv6.

another thing kiko, I have found this modded version of skype on xda developers forum: [APP][MOD][2.3+] Skype 2.8.0.920 (v16). you should force the video call and more settings are available than the official version. it could be another possibility for the the OT-991(D). bye!

Tango video call is working, but Skype video call don't work, so i contacted alcatel support team and they told me that ot-991 don't support Skype video call.So I have doubt that davidsameh have and use skype video call. Did someone find the way to activated front led notification with some application (for missed call).

If you use this phone only for normal calls than better by normal phone with 10Days standby time! I will buy Smartphone but also a very small normal old school mobile phone because sometimes when you are outide all day and late at night your smartphone battery is dead!!
