  • When you download a application/game, and notice RAM is gone right away before opening, that's because the Play Store (or whatever application you use to install apps) just used some RAM to download the application/game, then the Android system used some RAM to install the application/game. The application/game itself does not use RAM until it's actually used. RAM is used to run applications/games, not store them.

  • RAM is used by open applications. SO, if you download a game, when you use it it eats RAM. If you don't properly close the game, it continues to eat RAM. There are certain applications, like Facebook, that eat RAM all the time because it runs in the background. The more RAM you have, the more applications you can run at once without slowing your device down.

  • ((sorry, I replied to the wrong post earlier :D )) I am actually not that tech savy but I just noticed, when I actually download games or any app on my phone (which is not a vivo phone) it actually eats up my RAM. My phone specs shows I have 1GB RAM and everytime I download something, it takes away some MB from my RAM. So I believe this 6GB phone is for those users who wants or maybe NEEDS to download a lot of apps on their phone (maybe gamers, businessmen, etc.)

  • Benchmark and real life performance are different things. Samsung phones has high benchmark but will lag after few months. But there are many phones with lower benchmark score and they never lag.

  • i want to buy this phone after watching captain america, yeah... its a chinese phone, but who care? since chinese phone quality is getting better and branded phone seems lost in market track!

  • I do support u. Well... before this i'm using samsung s6. when i'm playing games and it hang. most of time it stuck.when I buy second phone vivoxplay3s that release on 2013 it never stuck! I do believe this one more better...

  • I Just buy this Handphone, and absolutely love so much this VIVO Xplay 5 elite / ultimate, Elegan, Fast and Smart, and i feel like i used iphone with android featured, everything was okay, for the last 3 days, i have a great time and enjoyed the all feature, until last night. I don't know what happen, when i do reboot this as used to, no problem at all. but somehow, after reboot last night than show up locked screen, and there is nothing i can do, and just bring to the ordinary handphone store, and they try hard but still nothing can do. VIVO just show locked screen, and the store advise me to bring back to Guang zhou, where i buy, but so sad i live at Indonesia - Jakarta. is there anyone here might be can give an advise to me , what should i do instead bring back to Guang Zhou. Thanks

  • The only thing here lagging is your education and inability to comment on something which you have never seen or experienced

  • Hi bro, if you want a cheap phone, u can buy a xiaomi or OPPO.

  • USB 2.0? What were they thinking?

  • it is very painful for you ha? to know that everybody can have the "s7" design, but actually no one is the owner of that design since they have been copying so many styles, accept it dude, Samsung sucks, good specs, but expensive as hell, crack your screen and it will be better to replace the device instead the screen, 6GB of RAM how about that? keep suffering Samsung lover!!!

  • Is vivo xplay 5 elite can compatible with malaysia network example like umobile and etc??

  • Is xplay 5 elite can compatible with network Malaysia exampla like maxis, celcom, umobile and etc...???

  • This was bound to happen one way or the other. Globally Vivo made their first marketing blunder by pitching their models as premium high end phones at an abnormally high prices for a China bound company. They forgot they may be considered as a premium smartphone manufacturer in their hometown, but globally they are just a tiny drop in a sea of manufacturers who are primarily dominated by Apple, Samsung & LG. It is somewhat true they used to make better built products in the past, but Xiaomi, Lenovo (after their acquisition of Motorola), Meizu and LeEco/LeTv have caught up. If you look at the recent models from Vivo or Oppo they are not throwing in anything new while taking a lot from consumers. Their Chinese sisters on the other hand are providing equivalent specs and quality at half the price. After extensively using some of their well established models in Vivo X5Max, Vivo V1, & Vivo V1Max I must admit they are capable of producing excellent handsets. It is only when you consider their inflated and unjustified retail price, twice that of an equivalently spec Xiaomi or LeTv handset is when the blunder strikes. Vivo must now accumulate all it synergies left and project their handsets as value for money else they will perish in the global market. They must stop spending any more in their gimmicky marketing where huge amount of cash being are spend roping in big stars from movie industry and then sponsoring some of the biggest events. Better than loosing all this titanic amounts of cash in marketing and then sucking the same from customers, it should project all its energies in making sure the end customer is truly benefited from their smartphones that are worth every penny. This is manly because the consumers of today are more powerful & tech friendly than yesteryear's, thanks to the power of internet. Online consumers like us have instant access of information and it does not take much to compare specs and price of smartphones.

  • They never upgrade their OS to a higher android version in any smartphones.

This is because the consumers of today are more powerful than yesteryear's, thanks to the internet. We have access of instant information and it doesn't take much time to compare specs and price.

  • Latest phone

  • Will they upgrade the OS every year?

  • Let me give you some inside news, their strategy is to market the V3 and V3max globally. For the higher end X series will not be marketed outside of China because they have failed to penetrate the market previously and losing a lot of money. Unless they able to make names with the V3 and V3max, they will not ever invest to market their high end expensive phones globally.

  • I highly doubt the "Elite" version of Xplay5 ever to be released globally. They have taken quite a beating on the international level when it comes to their crazy high pricing. They may consider themselves as a premium smartphone manufacturer in China, but globally they are just like any other Chinese brands Xiaomi, Lenovo or LeEco. Sales figures in India are 1/100th of a Xiaomi or LeEco sales annually. Also their retarded software update policy is frankly unacceptable. Even their flagships like X5Max of X5Pro receive no android version upgrades. You are always stuck with what you have. In my country many people recognize a Xiaomi or a Lenovo instantly, but none are aware of Vivo's existence. Saying that I own their coveted Vivo X5Max flagship, to me the best smartphone they ever created before XPlay5 Elite was born. Using it for over a year, I admit they were able to make an exceptionally well built phone in X5Max with flawless audio performance which negated the use of my portable high resolution audio player. But the X5Max came at exceptionally high price. The other aspect to consider is 95% of smartphone buyers do not understand what "HiFi" sound quality stands for. Hence I am finding Vivo in their recent models are offering lower quality and cheaper audio hardware in their models. Take the the example of Xplay5 and its bigger brother Xplay5 Elite, the difference being the normal Xplay5 is using much cheaper "HiFi 1.0" audio hardware architecture while the Elite version gets the "HiFi 3.0" architecture. So expect a massive difference in audio performance between the two, the Elite version being way superior in any which way you consider. The question arises what was the need to produce two versions of Xplay5? The reason I believe is 95% of their consumers will be very happy with the "HiFi 1.0" in the normal Xplay5 version, marketing wise they will still be able to pitch the normal version as a HiFi device and garner more profit by selling it with cheaper hardware. I believe with their high pricing policy they will stick to the normal version for global release of Xplay5, if it ever happens. Mind you the X6 & X6Plus never got released globally. Unfortunately then Xplay5 with "HiFi 1.0" will have less audio performance than Vivo X5Max with "HiFi 2.0". Which is bad for us music lovers, but not to the rest 95% of their consumers. Hope Vivo turns me wrong a releases the Elite version globally at a justifiable price. I couldn't be more happy then.

  • Is this available in India? Will it be better than X5max in terms of audio quality?

  • Bcoz 95% of the smartphone users don't understand HiFi audio quality. That said I am a music lover and adore my X5Max's audio quality through headphones even though I am a staunch opponent of Vivo's unjustified pricing policy.

  • I'm not sure why all these sites are overlooking the thing that makes this phone great and worth the price: It has TWO (one per channel) ES9028 Sabre 32-bit DAC's in it.

  • don't you knew why they design the processor in that way? read some articles about processors. they call this type of chipset as arm big. little. the two bigger cores are for the max speed parellel in heavy usage, and the two smaller cores are for the slight usage, the main reason is to save electricity for a long lasting battery.

  • Costs 800$ and it's lagging while doing just basic functions. Smells like success.

  • exectly i was thinging

  • WHAT Samsung and apple got married, and this (vivo Xplay5 Elite ) look like there offspring face like Sammy and back sheep

  • this phone support GLONASS ?? or only a-gps ??

  • S7 Edge China version kinda look like that. It have no Samsung logo.

  • ppl talking about 6gb is not needed, as games dont need so much gb well think about multi apps running at a time, this phone will not lag as much as compared to 4gb phones.

  • China itself as far as I know. and about the name of the brand. meet google for that. ^^;

  • And I said 2GB RAM, not ROM. Storage (ROM) is different than RAM.

  • MOST apps only use one core. Only the newest games CAN use multiple cores. It's not needed. Is it a nice luxury? For sure, but it's not needed.

  • U are not using ur phone. Many people use them phone for more than SMS and calls, some people has throw away there's computer and do all works via phone including office sometimes open PDF files that are almost 2GB

  • ? Android was made with open license from Google and marketing to all brands .. Marshmallow is Android software UPDATE!

  • Some PDF files can be very big and if you have get rid of your computer (like I several years now) and do every office and other work via your phone then than sometimes it is good to have big ram. But agree most people doesn't need this normally. But I am curious about this brand? Were this coming from (China, Asia or some else)? Is this new or some renamed brand?

  • Where can you buy it???

  • very good !

  • Result of a threesome between Apple & Samsung & Huawei... ----------------------------------------------- hahahahah :D :D

  • very good

  • good speed wowwwwwwwwwwww.....

  • Result of a threesome between Apple & Samsung & Huawei...

  • wowwwww/ 6gb ram,,,,

  • That dual core best the exynos Samsung and iPhone chipset.go search antutu

  • The mobile is great. In my opion this phone is mix of Galaxy s6 edge + iPhone 6 + Huawei = vivo 5 xplay. Is my next mobile. The cost is around $741 in Aliexpress...

  • wooow this one is just incredible.........

  • MOBILE is very good i like mobile .....so i wait for mobile mazing mobile

  • hahaha! yup! i agree.

  • Amen.

  • each CLUSTER is dual core. sum it up to get 4 cores. HONESTLY if I was the maker of the snapdragon 820 I'd make all 4 at 2.15 GHz,

  • yes! I absolutely agree......

  • Where can I buy this smartphone?

  • yea buddy... buy the cheap one.. ill stick to my Samsung and Apple

  • From the store

  • type-c :(

  • Oh man.......Talk about a samsung rip-off. Chinese DO seems only good at copying other OEM!

  • Omg vivo xplay5 got asss

  • where can i buy this kind of phone? I'm from phillippines

  • Dual core ? Sad phone .

  • My next phone to be bought... these specs are a way better than Samsung LG and apple. Vivo rocksss!!!

  • Beautiful.. Good job vivo..

  • damn, is that true?

  • i cant afford 2buy s7edge or ifon6.. if the price good.. this is a go

  • good

  • God

  • Similar to S6/S7 from front and Similar to Iphone6 from back. Good Job vivo

  • I dont think people need large number of ram... They not using phone to write a software or playing two three games simultaneously... Lack of OIS feature and higher aperture camera compare to powerful vivo xshot... Pray for Vivo success

  • It's new brand with powerful features and new generation of pricing it will take the chance

  • QHD is not successful, FHD would have been more better. Rip

  • You're blind

  • It all comes down to cost. If it's cheap enough, it will succeed, but so far looks like the price will only be $50-$100 lower than the competition. To me you might as well get a proven brand, where you can get take it to be fixed, exchanged, etc, all around you.

  • hahha so true

  • Okay we all know that Vivo it's not a well established brand (but heqq every brand had its own beginning, right!? ) and okay as well that it looks like an S7/edge, but having said that. It is to be appreciated, that from all the big names, etc. Vivo is the first brand that have the ability/technology, to be second only to the biggest brand in smartphone technology, Samsung, to use a dual curved display/ edges, so I think that it is remarkable, right! ? And not only that, as we know, vivo is the pioneer to have the courage to produce the first smartphone with the whopping 6GB of RAM (& so that it will be an encouragement for the others to raise more the bar, in the near future ) so I think vivo already deserve some compliments, right! ?. And even more than that, looking at the specs on paper, the vivo Xplay5 elite, it almost include everything (almost ), okay it doesn't have an SD card slot, but heyyy, it comes with a 128GB of internal storage as a standard (right out of the box) so it is even more remarkable, right! ? & finally, I/we can presume? That as a price tag, compered to the big names flagships, S7, G5, HTC 10, etc. It will be valuable cheaper? Well, so generally speaking, vivo deserve compliments and hopefully it/they will keep it up in the present and future . and hopefully they will sell a huge quantity of the Xplay 5, because once the product is promising, that is what it should happen! (but it depends on the consumers, if they/we understand it or not???)

  • Wtf ..6 gb not cpu mr uneducated 6gb RAM ..Random Access Memory

  • This is what happens when you can't make up your mind who you want to rip off more - Samsung or apple

  • Phone top.

  • Really is S6/7 clone from the front, and an iPhone 6s from the back, isn't it? Don't think I could every own this. It'd feel like wearing a fake watch.

  • wow! vivo xplay 5 elite. what a specs, someone seems to be having one already. 6 gb of central processing unit is crazy men! it will sure allow the phone to work freely and will make it make faster movements. the specs are very high. as for the copy design it is part of the mobile phone business. which phone brand first moved to android? give me answer, for sure other brands had to copy what research a brand has come out with. again which brand first moved to marshmallow? a brand first moved and others are following. 5g network will soon come and the rest will follow. but samsung and huawei are leading that research. so pls such is the game. keep it cool friends.

  • First time seeing this phone, people will think this is s7 edge

  • This phone is just lame, regardless of the unnecessary 6g ram, it's a direct copy of the S6 S7 range from Samsung. I know phones this days tend to copy each other but this is just doing it unashamedly so. It really shows lack of creativity. It's just pathetic if you ask me. What in the world was going through their mind during the design of the phone?

  • I back you up on that!

  • And also apple has copied the desing of iphone 4 & 4s from sony

  • You are a vrey sad person...You lose your time just trying to convince people that apple is the best and this company should lead the world..

  • does iphone 6 has dual edge display or top center camera on its back like the galaxy S6-7, edge family? NO! And you said Sony has its own original design? wtf! hahahaha... A complete lies bro! and thanks for the lough! :D Just look at the new Sony Xperia X series a complete r!p-0ff of iphone 6 family. LOL... Sony has history also of slightly sharp edge form factor and top left corner camera on its back which is a copy of iphone all alone. LOL

  • A good way to save some money on research and development is to copy the design of other phones.

  • thats the dumbest comment i ever seen..do u ever seen a iphone 6 bro

  • then u must be blind

  • hope they could have given the finger print sensor on the front side...

  • front face full copy samsung galaxy edge background face copy iphone 6

  • Who cares? It's an amazing phone, quit fanboying.

  • LOL!! iPhone 6 copied from HTC ONE..

  • this is best to choose,to be frank it is best of all

  • Nope. Doesn't at all look the the S6 edge nor the 6P from behind. They are certainly not copying. Hope you detected the sarcasm

  • this phone runs like hell, lightning fast,

  • W8 for iPhone 7

  • With all the waves of hate flowing through, I stand aside. Xplay5 may be a copycat of Samsung & Apple but it visually looks stunning. Frankly I less care from whom it was copied as long as it looks good. That said the Elite version will attract music connoisseurs, audiophiles due to its esoteric HiFi 3.0 architecture for audio sound reproduction through headphones. This architecture is unique as of now. From an objective point of view, the Xpaly5 Elite model stacks the best audio DACs & op-amps in business while using the most expensive audio setup ever conceived for a smart phone. Period. HiFi 3.0 implementation in Xplay5 Elite ensures a PAIR (not one) of high-end stereo ESS SABRE ES9028 DACs followed by a PAIR (not one) of Texas Instruments OPA1612 dual op-amps is differential configuration. Each ES9028 being a stereo DAC and able to handle two audio channels are forced to act a mono DAC handling only one channel in HiFi 3.0 architecture for even better performance. Result is 3dB increase in signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) from 129dB to a magnanimous 132dB in a smart phone!!! Then the OPA1612's that falls next in the audio chain are again used in expensive differential configuration. These are acting as I/V converters i.e. converting the current output of DACs to voltage to drive our headphones. This is serious stuff applicable to 5% of the smart phone buyers who uses expensive audiophile grade headphones to listen to music. Finally another OPA1612 in single-ended configuration completes the chain by acting as a sole headphone amplifier. Promising to say the least, coz in paper at least it beats my Vivo X5Max"s HiFi 2.0 architecture fair and square. The other things that tick's in my check list are a large 3600 mAh battery, Gorilla Glass 4 protection & 128GB internal memory. You need space to store uncompressed audio FLAC files 10x the size of 320 kbps MP3's!!! The final piece of the puzzle is Xplay5 Elite's global availability (at least in India where Vivo have their presence). I am not interested in plain Xplay5 which follows HiFi 1.0 architecture of X5Pro. The other dampening factor will be the exuberant and unjustified price tag set by this small Chinese manufacturer who does NOT even have the ability to provide android updates in the future for a US $655 flagship smartphone. My humble suggestion for the rest 95% of the smart phone users who less care about audio quality too steer clear from this handset. For them with this much cash to spend it will be a much safer bet to gun for Samsung or LG flagships as they will be better in every other department bar audio.

  • S6 and S7 are also copied from iphone 6 LOL Today all OEMs copy iPhone design Only SONY always make his own design....

  • A copy cat company of phone.Fully like Samsung s6 edge note 6 will also coming with 6gb ram with dual curved display

  • Samsung Edge?

  • S7 is the winner

  • Very well copied. But I prefer the ORIGINAL Samsung S6 or S7.

  • Agree.

  • Monster!

  • tech.spects. tells this one is the best of best. draw price lower than others ,sell higher than them. hit market .

  • You know a mobile company has the best product on the market and is doing well when other companies start to copy them. Well done Samsung

  • iphone galaxy S7s Plus!?

  • No need, 128 GB is fair enough

  • We are introducing today Vivo S6 Edge :)

  • No MicroSD card slot? What a bummer! that's a deal breaker for me, it would have been my next choice.

  • 5.43 inches Xplay5 Elite's width 76.2mm. 5.5 inches S7 Edge's width 72.6mm. Who is the winner?

  • I think it's a good start for vivo to enter the big market I am not use it but its look like very fast smartphone G Good * * * * four star becoz no new features

  • no ois on camera ? that's not serious

  • 6gb ram many now lagdroid wont lagg

  • S6 EDGE at the front and iPhone 6S at the back + software that is full of blotware and useless 6 gigs of ram..no microSD card support and the price it will be ridiculously high(for unknown brand). In short they are trying their best to fool people into buying this cheap crap.

  • The capacitive buttons is the only Deal Breaker for me !!

  • You lost all that credibility when you called SAMSUNG to copy from Apple Go to bed please .

  • Are they share a same layout design: apple samsung Xiaomi vivo?

  • And Apple coppied HTC

  • Everything is there, except gps sensors

  • WANT.

  • Great and all, but still non-removable...

  • Wow! Samsung has been overpowered! Vivo copied the s6 edge+ here, but Samsung copies from Apple as well! The amazing thing is that this phone has everything Samsung used to have to brag and steps with 820+6gb ram, chances are that this will be abke to outperform the S7 edge itself!

  • Guys dont be too obsesed with 6GB of RAM..the phone will probably be full of bloatware and even with cynanogen mod or othe roms that amount of RAM is useless these days, even on your PC you cant use more than 4GB only if you play high quality 3D games or use some programs that are not available for android.

  • when I can make pre-order?

  • Phones don't need 2GB RAM or Quad-core CPUs either.

  • Dear vivo, Try something new...which is created by you..this phone look like Samsung s6 edge + at frond side and iphone at back....copy pest design Specs are good but make your own look

  • People don't start comparing design to S7 & saying its copied No manufacturer can copy design & make a final product in just 10 days

  • This is to hoping that the Note 6 follows suit :D I need the same specs on that future piece of tech! XD

  • wow, antimainstream, i suggest vivo to increas its battery to be above 4000mah and 4gb ram is enough

  • ofcourse in the front and design like ip 6 at d back

  • When U don't know if U want an iPhone 6 Plus or a Galaxy S7 Edge

  • Lollipop? Thic can't be right...

  • 6 gigs of RAM Smartphone don't require these days 3 GB is enough people are ready to pay even if its price is $650+ just for 6 GB of ram I bought nexus 6p today as my secondary device my primary device is iPhone 6s (64gb) and its butter smooth even with 2 gigs of RAM nexus is also butter smooth If people have to try some good thing try iPad pro which has 4 gigs of RAM & it could last for 3 years with 128gb

  • 6GB RAM ± SD820,etc ???????amazing!!!!!!!!!!

  • is it true???????

  • crazy ram...go vivo 💪💪💪

  • it's like an S7 edge copy!!?
