mi 8 is running a snapdragon 845 which is good, as for the mi 9se is running a snapdragon 710 which is a mid range specs. Both has a nice camera but if you want to talk about power efficient i would say go for xiaomi mi 8

Only Apple fanboy would flame company like Xiaomi to call them copycat. The 2 are totally different OS and different ecosystem. Those who has stick with IOS for long time won't switch to Android OS, and those who has stick to Android OS for long time won't switch to IOS too. There are clear reason why people use IOS, and also why people use Android. I don't want to be biased, just want to say that I'm more of a Android guy, that prefer Google stuff than IOS, and Xiaomi's MIUI is Google Android. So despite MIUI are designed based on IOS style, I'm ok with it as long as it is Android based.

It doesnt matter because aptx is better only in higher bitrates. for ex aptx at 320 is like AAC at 200 so it really doesnt matter much, and to tell you the truth if you carefully listen to both,you will see that AAC is more "harmonic".

Of course you should grab that used iphone 7 plus bro. Belive me, these mi Chinese phones aren't the best. the iPhone 7 plus is IP rated and it has the better processor. A great phone. Bought it for 1/4 the price of a Iphone 10, and it was kinda sad that the camera wasn't optimized and there wasnt 4k60 fps. Month later - it was optimized and running perfectly, compared it to a 10, and its only software's differences, 3 month later we got a 4k60 fps. And they will continue to optimize it for at least 2 years and keep it updated for at least 4-5. The battery is better, the screen is really nice, the design - holy moly, its SO good.

Actually Poco F1 and Mi8 serve different category of user. Yes, by comparison, Mi8 is the better phone out there, but it lack Micro SD slot, 3.5mm jack, has smaller battery, but in return, Mi8 has better camera, modern shinny glass body and metal frame, AMOLED screen, better speaker, has NFC, proper widewine L1 support. Poco F1 despite compromise on the screen, even compromise on the outlook with plastic body, but it pack in 4000mah battery, Micro SD slot, 3.5mm jack, liquid cooling, but using low grade LCD screen, no NFC, polycarbonate back, no proper widewine L1 support. So, both phones actually are quite different, at the end it is down to personal preference to judge what features actually matter the most for users. In final decision, I choose Poco F1 for it's cheaper price (I get $300 for 128GB version), bigger battery, Micro SD slot that I considered more important for me, 3.5mm jack that prove to be more convenient than using a dongle, I can live without NFC, then I actually doesn't subscribe to Netflix. I also prefer LCD more, I am the only minority that actually prefer LCD screen for more natural colors, and also for longer life time. Finally, yes, for normal user that don't know how to choose, definitely pick Mi8 any day over Poco F1. But for those who want to save more, appreciate the use of Micro SD and 3.5mm jack, then Poco F1 is also a good choice.

Actually, these two phones are almost identical when it comes to gaming performance, these two both use SD845. But Mi8 is a step up when it comes to camera, it has OIS and a telephoto sensor while Poco doesn't have these. Poco has a depth sensor as a secondary shooter, so it isn't very useful. The outside of the Mi8 is made of metal while Poco uses a polycarbonate frame. Also, Mi8 has a AMOLED display rather than IPS found in Poco and it is considerably better than Poco's screen; it has true blacks, punchy colors with good accuracy and very high brightness. On the other hand, Poco has a bigger 4000mah battery and a considerably cheaper price. Unless you are in a tight budget or want to own the SD845 SoC at the cheapest price, Mi8 is the better option. In my opinion, screen quality does matter.

I have the same question but i think i would go with the mi8 since it has the best focus (dual pixel technology and OIS helps regarding this matter), Nova 3 over saturates the images with the AI feature. Also, mi8 records slow mo at 960 fps. The battery is a bit small and that big notch is a problem for me and i've heared that you can not hide it and the notifications are not showing because of the big notch (please someone correct me if i'm wrong - I wish I'm wrong). I will buy it for the camera and processor, i hope i wont regret it.

I would say the biggest problem is the big notch which means notifications don't work properly. Will only be a teardrop notch in Mi 9 though so I'd wait for that, Apple lead manufacturers down the wrong path with the notch but they'll soon be gone.

Yes, the Mi 8 comes with a USB-to-jack adapter. However, I would strongly advise against this phone. I bought one recently and I am extremely disappointed. It doesn't come with a full Android OS, but with a limited version called MIUI. There is an endless list of things which are either missing or buggy. Overall, using the phone is a frustration, even more so at its steep price. Oh, and to top it all off, the bootloader comes locked, so you can't upgrade nor downgrade.

My Mi8 Pro does not use tele camera in low light, it switches to main camera with digital zoom. When light is good it switches back to tele camera.

I have it now home, works great, is nice, I have the global stable version but two things: - No face unlock (I can live with it) - No portrait mode - I bought the phone also for the camera, but I can not confirm that it is better than Oneplus 5t. I compared these two models like you and ended up buying Mi8 6/128. That's because the picture quality is much much better than Pocophone and its design is superb despite no 3.5 mm. jack. I play game too and found not a single problem on this phone. The thing is Mi8 is a little expensive than Pocophone so if you don't mind this little price gap, I'd say you should go with Mi8. But if 3.5 mm jack and this price gap are a big deal for you, Pocophone will serve you just fine as well.

There are thing you need to understand on Xiaomi phone. Previously there are only China and Global ROM, then a bunch of fake ROM which is modified by China local seller. Mostly the imported one are installed with this fake ROM, and this is the one get most of the complain on Ads where Ads always pop up even on the home screen or in the middle of usage. The local version with Global ROM is the cleanest, with ads only in their Xiaomi own utility apps, which just function like most free game you installed from Play Store, which is apps support. Similarly to their China ROM counter part, there are pre-installed Chinese apps which is ads supported. I have used a bunch of Xiaomi smartphone with Global ROM and the ads only appear in the Cleaner apps, which happen to be a Clean Master apps, which is apps supported by nature. Their version is integrated into MIUI, but still ads supported, but this never bother me. All in all, just make sure yours are installed with Global stable ROM then will be very much ads free.

If you are not flashing the custom ROM, then no issue. It's official ROM won't cause it into bootloop. Last time all Xiaomi phone can flash between Global and China ROM without UBL, but now, there are some policy regarding this, where they want to protect local seller at which they has actual presence, so they block the flashing between the ROM. I did it myself 2 times by flashing to Global ROM on old model without UBL, and the 2 devices work until today, a Redmi Note 3 32GB, and Mi Max Prime 64GB.

For your needs Mate 10 Pro fits better. I have to say both are great phones. I have been a heavy Huawei user for a long time and I am very satisfied for its performance. But recently I gave my Mate 10 Pro to my friend who broke his phone. I recided to switch to Xiaomi MI 8 128 gb, 6 RAM, snow-white colour. It is really beautiful and very fast. With very slight exception of camera there is no big difference at all by my side when to compare with Mate 10 Pro (Huawei seems better). Xiaomi MI8 is even a bit cheaper which is "healthy" for your pocket. Overall both are great phones.

It's the same, Global version are much cleaner, and only show ads for their own Xiaomi apps. The most Xiaomi app that I use is their own Cleaner app, which clean useless apps cache, and some other buffers. For web browser, I use Google Chrome.

If I could remember clearly, there are two to 3 version sold in China. One version would only works at China, then another version actually is Global version, but flashed with China ROM. So, pick the one show as 全网通, that is the Global version that support both FDD and TDD LTE. Of course the Global version sold in China is more expensive than their local version as it support more LTE bands.

Of course if can get 128GB, even 256GB, then go for it. If it can be unlock bootloader and then can flash to Global version, then go for it. You should make sure the imported set, the seller can help you flash Global ROM, so that you no need worry about about the flashing. As long as it support your country 4G network then it can be used without any issue.

Poco has audio-jack, micro-SD-card expansion, IPS LCD (with light bleeding at the bottom), bigger battery, and single color notification LED, plastic casing. Mi8 has no jack, no micro-SD card, no notification LED, amoled screen, OIS on camera, glass/aluminum-casing. If the mi8 had micro-sd-card slot and audio-jack then it would be almost perfect but now I might even go for an old Honor view 10 myself instead or indeed go for that pocophone. I mean for that amount of money you could get the poco as a backup ;-)

Honestly, Mi8 has better results. I dont know why. But for games the 8GB OP6 should be enough. Considering the 8GB/256GB OP6 costs USD$533 and the 6GB/256GB Mi8 costs USD$413.if you have the extra 100 bucks get the OP6. But the camera isnt as good as the Mi8. Im saying this as before my Mi8 i was a S9 Plus user. And currently i just use my Mi8 and OP6. But sadly my Mi8 is the 6GB version so i cant really say gaming performance.

Again, depend what you really want. In all regard, Mi8 would be better, because of better camera, SD845, AMOLED screen. However, Mi8 lack of 3.5mm jack, and no Micro SD slot. Nova 3 is all rounder with Micro SD slot and 3.5mm jack. At the end, it all depend what you need. In that price range, I would also consider LG G7 and ASUS Zenfone 5z if available at some region. Then, I would prefer phone that support Qualcomm Quick Charge where it's adapter is much easier to find than Huawei Fast Charge adapter, and also no need special cable.

I would say since SD820/SD821, those overheat claim are much less than last gen processor, say SD810, SD805, SD801, SD650, SD652, SD615/616/617. SD820/821/835/845 still heated, but far less than those, and is much more manageable than those previous gen processor. I own these phone, and seriously, SD845 are one of the less heated processor out there.

Your friend has to give the permissions to Video calling application to use the microphone. Xiaomi security restricts some apps automatically to use the Mic or Camera. Hope your problem will be solved.

The screen looks better? How is that possible, Mi 8 is LCD and OP6 is AMOLED. The only thing that's bothering me is the OS on mi 8. The MIUI is known to be concentrated with bloatware. Idk if it would be just as fast after 2 or more years. I know the OP6 would be, since it's almost stock android with the least bloatware.

Unless you are going to watch your phone screen with a microscope. :-) Conclusion: Mi 8 AMOLED screen is brilliant and shiny, and truly comparable with a Galaxy AMOLED screen. 3 days ago, I buyed (here in Bosnia and Hercegovina) a brand new Mi 8 (6GB/64GB GLOBAL version with MIUI 9, which is immediatelly updated to MIUI 10). Well... as a FORMER Samsung fan, here an now i can just say: F**K YOU SAMSUNG. Mi 8 is incredible phone. Antutu bench showed score of 289.397 ! 2nd place on the World, just a few points behind Black Shark ! Battery autonomy is very, very, very solid - 2d 21 h 18 mins with moderate use. The camera: photo quality is almost the same as on Huawei P20 Pro (have made comparison with my friends phone cam). Well, Xiaomi, THANK YOU for such a gorgeous and affordable phone.

for those who are complaining about dull display just go to settings then colours and contrast and select increased contrast and you will see a huge difference in the display i had the same issue and after doing this am loving my phone more and more.

Had mi8 for a week and returned to M10Pro. Batteryn charging superior, sound, cam,GPS and no frigging notch. Hard to adjust to no notifications in upper right corner. Speedwise they're the same if u don't play games. EMUI more polished and fluid than miui atm. Only thing that's going to mi8 favor is better AOD implementation.

I bought it on a Chinese online website. It doesn't come with a EU charger, you need to use an extra adapter. It comes with a Chinese ROM in which you can also use English. Anyway I'll flash a global ROM, maybe Xiaomi.eu because I want to get rid of the Chinese bloatware and I prefer an optimized ROM with better camera and GPS. Unfortunately in order to flash a new ROM you need to wait for 360 hours to unlock the bootloader. And if anything goes wrong you can brick the phone and need to get an special authentication to repair it. Xiaomi doesn't provide them anymore for free. This is very bad. Be careful and do not relock the bootloader. Anyway, the phone looks nice, the material is better than I expected on a 320€ phone. The camera is nice, though not perfect yet. Many camera apps don't work, I think we'll need to wait for a firmware upgrade to be able to use the HDR function properly. The most dissapointing issue is the GPS. It works but it's not able to use the L5 dual signal. I hope they fix it soon but I think we will need to wait at least to the launching of Android 9.0. Everything else sees to be OK. It's a fast phone. Some people complains about the notch, but I think it's a beautiful phone. The screen is nice though you can see this phone on different shops with the screen turned on all day at maximum and they start to burn the colors, I hope it won't happen to me. The battery is great, it lasts for several days. Now I'm looking for a good screen protector and a light case. The USB port is really slow, 32MB/s, this is ridiculous nowadays.

Bought it yesterday. It is fast, really fast. Screen is nice, more to square side not like long narrow sausage of Samsung. Automatic brightness works better than on Samsung. Camera compared to s6edge plus is a bit better because of wider aperture, but in real life it will loose to Galaxy S8, if even by a little, but will lose. Call quality is good, but not excellent, by that I mean that the person you speak with, hears you a bit sintetic. Speaker is ok, lacks of bass. What I don't like is that after update almost every application needs permition to manage phone calls and access gallery, to work, otherwise you can't even look at videos you have filmed. Otherwise it is the best phone for 400 EUR, you can get now. Its not the Samsung S8 or s9, of course, but are they hundreds of Euros better, I doubt that.

Great phone overall, except you have to install home launcher, video/music player, gallery, file manager, etc. on your own, since the apps that came with xiaomi have ads all over the place. Makes it looks really dirty. Unless you're okay with google photos, etc. NOTE: Even with "Receive recommendation" unticked, you'll still get ads here and there. No way to work around it. If you're okay with it, then this phone is perfect.

GSMArena do state it can more band, including 34,38,39,40,41. Best would be having the sample phone to test the network.

There are no confirmed working type c adaptor that proved to be allowed charging and using the 3.5mm jack at the same time. The one claimed works is the Baseus brand adapter, L40, but yet to be properly tested. This Baseus L40 adapter did works on HTC U Ultra, however need to install "Audio Router" apps that force audio route out from the type C adapter. You might try that Baseus adapter, but you loose the quick charging.

Major different would be screen size and battery size, not everyone like too big screen of Note 10. My opinion is, you should test and try both before buying, both are good in their own way. The Xiaomi M8 specs are OK and I am about to buy it. But I am trying first to solve some problems that really hurt me: - Missing SD-Card slot: Will need to choose the version with 265 GB internal memory and copy my movie collection to it (still hurts, as it was so easy to swap SD-cards). - Missing headphone jack: I absolutely need to charge the phone while listening to the headphones (and battery powered Bluetooth phones will never be a solution). Thus trying to figure out whether I could use a USB-C hub that doubles USB-C connections, using one for headphones (with the provided adapter) und the other-one for charging. CAN ANYBODY CONFIRM THAT THIS WOULD WORK? - I didn’t find any FM-radio within the specs. Is there any? If not, CAN AN FM-RADIO APP be installed and can it be enabled (with still the headphone cable being used as antenna?). PS:One thing about the type C 3.5mm adapter that also allow charging from Baseus brand is, it cannot perform quick charging, just charging at 0.5 amp max, which is pretty slow charging. It does charge, but very slow charge. The quality of the jack also not in good quality, have difficulty plug in earphone jack, however it does sound ok.

Depend on your preference, both are great phone. For ASUS Zenfone 5z, it got dual stereo DTS X speaker, 3.5mm headphone jack, also included a great earphone, Micro SD slot (despite being a hybrid slot), and FM radio. For Mi8, only real benefit might be just the AMOLED screen, maybe some are fond to MIUI, but both have dual apps support. Mi8 don't has Micro SD slot, also don't has 3.5mm jack, but type C adapter is included in the box, only thing is cannot charge and listen to music at the same time, but you can buy a cheap branded adapter that allow charging and listening to earphone at the same time (recommending Baseus brand L40 adapter). Both 128GB variant priced at my country is the same, but Zenfone 5z doesn't has 64GB variant sold, 64GB variant Mi8 is cheaper. For me, at my country, the 128GB ASUS price when on flash sales and 64GB Mi8 (no flash sale) are just $25 usd or 1.7K rupees more expensive if you come from India. So, definitely the 6GB/128GB variant ASUS Zenfone 5z is the ultimate no brainer choice, simply offer much more bangs for buck under almost the same price. If no flash sale, both ASUS Zenfone 5z 128GB and Mi8 128GB have the same price. This is priced almost the same on the grey import of Oneplus 6 64GB variant. (Official 64GB Oneplus 6 sold in my country is 8.5k rupees or $121 usd more expensive than the official 128GB of 5z and Mi8, and almost 13.5k rupees or $200 usd more expensive than the official 64GB Mi8) Just pick the phone you want, certainly SD845 is currently the most powerful SoC, don't worry about the performance. For camera, both are far from good if compare to real flagship like Samsung or LG, but these phones camera are actually very capable, only the camera apps or software algorithm sucks. Installing a ported Google Camera apps will improve the camera performance significantly (can search at XDA forum for advice), and you will wonder actually those budget flagship are really capable alternative to those expensive one.

App optimization is more on like apps killer for power saving purpose, while the 6.21" screen just same as those 18:9 ratio and 19:9 ratio phone, just a regular 5", 5.5" or 5.7" phone that extend the ratio to become longer, beneficial only for normal apps, social apps, web browsing, but never beneficial for photo viewing, and those 16:9 video viewing.

Depend on country, this phone together with ASUS Zenfone 5Z currently I would say is Oneplus 6 killer. Those phone are not perfect, but comparable among each others, as they are budget flagship phone. However, both Mi8 and ZF5Z price, head to head with the 128GB version, are 17,000 rupees ($250), cheaper for official manufacturer warranty set. Even the based variant of Oneplus 6, 64GB is 8,500 rupees ($125) more expensive than both Mi8 128GB and ZF5Z 128GB variant. I've just gotten my Mi 8 and have a few comments... I agree with the conclusions in the review that it is a really nice and fast phone. A few remarks: - App battery saver ("app optimization") seems to kill GPS if the phone is inactive for some time and makes it impossible to start it up unless the phone is rebooted (when I turn off this function everything works fine). - the L5 GPS band will be fully operational first some time in 2020's. At the moment there are only 12 satellites with this capability. So for sub-meter location accuracy we will need to wait a while. - 6.21 inch does sound impressive but as the screen ratio is 18.7:9 the short side is 2.99 which is even slightly smaller than a 5.5 inch screen with 16:9 ratio. This means that if you watch a 16:9 video it will be approximately sized as on 5.5 inch screen with "old" ratio of 16.9. I didn't think of this and got disappointed when I saw how small the phone actually is. This is of course valid for any phone regardless brand and not only Mi 8. Cheers

I got a 3 years old Xiaomi Redmi Note 2, with MIUI Global 9.5, Android 5.0.2. Yes, despite it is only Android 5.0.2, it simply doesn't lag, in fact it is much faster than the 1st day I bought it, which upgrade from MIUI 7, to MIUI 8, now to MIUI 9. I know what Samsung lag is all about, I own 3 Samsung before, and definitely feel the lag, the one that even just normal swipe menu and open apps also will lag. And always restarting itself too without any reason. Now, I own a few Xiaomi, and MIUI is one of the cleanest and bloat free Android skin I ever used. I simply doesn't care about the memory management, which people claim of very bad on MIUI, but simply, it doesn't affect the phone performance either. I mean it is really fast and smooth, even for low end device from 3 years ago, I still used it every day and no issue either, simply is much more stable than other Android skin. In other words, Xiaomi phone are pretty durable and stable. Ok, those who claim Xiaomi is bad with bloat is because most of the imported set comes with hacked vendor ROM, or China ROM. The global ROM for Xiaomi phone simply isn't the case, they are one of the most stable ROM that I ever used on Android phone. So, recommended to flash global rom, or ask seller to flash the rom for you. Still, if you prefer Oneplus vanilla Android experience, then just go with Oneplus. This is more of a preference, than claiming pure Android increase on performance. For me, a few millisecond of slower apps launching and swipe menu animation doesn't affect the Xiaomi MIUI experience.

MIUI bit mimics IOS, it is heavy but a visual treat. I use to flash MIUI roms on my other phones and always loved it. Try MIUI one's, u will surely love it. Roms of Oneplus are very near to asop ROMs, so they are light and upgrades are easy compared to TW, MIUI and etc...

I have the xiaomi mi5s plus 6Gb 128 Gb, I've used it for 1 year and a half, still good. I went to the xiaomi store and i used the xiaomi 8 6Gb 256Gb for 15 minutes or so, the phone is good but I've read some posts about not being water proof or about having a single speaker. So, I think i'll wait a year to see what happens and then buy a new phone. Maybe Xiaomi 9 or 10. I've tried iphone 3 to 6 plus and a lot of samsung and htc phones, I think xiaomi phones are the best for the money that you are paying. My house filled up with xiaomi products. Sometimes there are some problems but everything has a fix if you google enough. I'll stick with xiaomi for now :D (that is during the reasonable prices period of time)

Wrong. Xiaomi ain't like most other android phones. Even the mi 4x still got update (just now i was notified actually). And about iphones, while they did and will give u the option to update to the latest OS versions, doesn't mean that they're well optimized. U can update the iphone 5 u get to the latest version, then suffers all the lags and other problems till u changed to a latest iPhones. Whats the point then? U can't even revert back to previous os as simple as downloading roms and installing some flash tools to ur pc like androids can. A few other things I would really love to remind iOS users out there, don't pretend like apple didn't treat iPhones with version numbers. They really did and there are also quite a number of apps that aren't supported just because the apps requires iPhones generation 9 and above etc. So stop with all your craps like "get an iphones, they support their devices till u die!". And why the hell does Apple forces users to use wifi when downloading apps 150mb and above? There are many telcos that give unlimited and cheap add-on datas nowadays. I know cuz my gf using iPhone 6 (i know it is an old device but that is the point here right??) :p I'm not an apple haters nor am I an android fanboys. Between the two, I would pick the Mi 8 but I give you one advice: I once had an iPhone 5 and changed it for an Xperia M4 Aqua because I wanted something different. It was better in some areas like front camera or display size, but it lacked the quality of the iPhone 5 and that was even noticeable for the average person. The camera for example, poor low light performance, needs 2,5 seconds to take a photo compared to no time on the iPhone, and because of that, photos often weren‘t taken in the right moment or blurred. It also overheated like nothing, even though it was not made public. The battery lasted a bit longer, but took 4 hours to charge, absolutely unacceptable. The built quality was a massive difference as well, the iPhone 5 was made from metal and glass whereas the Xperia only had plastic which scratched easily and felt cheap, and if you pushed the back, you could bend it to feel the internals. And then, guess what: The 3 years newer M4 Aqua stopped getting updates when the iPhone 5 was about to receive iOS 10. TL;DR: if you want to keep your phone for a really long time again, I seriously recommend you to get an iPhone again because Android phones, and especially lower End android phones like the Redmi Note 5, get outdated extremely fast, and the Mi 8 will still be outdated pretty fast compared to a new iPhone.

it all comes down to 3.5mm jack and battery backup So, mi 8 which is 3400MAH is preferable. or note 5 pro which is 4000 mah is preferrable. DO not go for the mi mix2s, its soo heavy man, you will suffer in long term usage. as i can see you dont play games much either, bro, mi 8, thats your best shot. Bang for the buck. It's got some really good enhancement comapred to the mi 6, the mi8 will survive alot and never let you down. Note 5 pro if you cant afford the mi 8. thats all.

If you are okay with buying type c earphones, need super quick charge, excellent camera, heavy gaming (ASPHALT 9 Coming this year), state of the art technology, slim and sexy. I don't mind for the notch-inspired smartphones. Not at all. This is, however, a blatant copycat of the iPhone X. No imagination whatsoever. The notch, the round design. everything looks absolutely similar except for the small chin in the bottom. Even the camera module & the placement is the same. im sorry, but the specs on this site is wrong. You can check their official chinese websites. As for now, MIUI still unable to support 60fps mode on 1080p yet.... let alone at 4K/60fps. Its the MIUI that cause the problem not the phone hardware.

This is the inherent problem with Xiaomi these days. They don't ever listen to customer feedback like the old days. It kinda is like how OnePlus is these days, Xiaomi was in its heydays, they used to take customer feedback seriously earlier but nowadays it's like they'll do whatever the heck they want and the customers should just suck up and buy their phone or buy from their competitor. Also, they never provided 1080p 60fps even with their SD 835 devices. I don't get it, it's not like the chipsets are weak or unable to handle 60fps recording at at least 1080p. Heck, even my SD821 toting OnePlus 3T supports 60fps 1080p recording. Xiaomi never listens to customers requesting 1080p 60fps or 4K 60fps. God knows we've tried in the forums, twitter, Facebook, etc.

what do you mean by youtube 1080p? you cant watch youtube at 1080p? In terms of certifications, I think you can watch 1080p on youtube but not on Netflix or other streaming services if they did not pay for a certification watching 1080p. One good example is oneplus 5, search the news about it that they cant stream 1080p on Netflix but you can with youtube because they didnt apply for a certification. So theres a reason why a phone is cheaper compared to other phones with the same specs. You win some, you lose some.

The SoC design (on the mainboard) of flagship series is bigger than middle SoC. That's why the manufacturers is hard to put bigger battery than middle class phone. About the battery endurance.. Pls pay attention to the display and the SoC.. Mi 8 series use AMOLED n Snapdragon 845 which is less battery comsumption than IPS LCD n Snapdragon 835. Let's see the battery endurance on the review a few months later..

the phone is too big i was waiting for a flagship phone with size of Mi 6 (145.2 x 70.5 mm) , not this big one (154.9 x 74.8 mm), when a phone's width goes higher than 70 and 71 mm it is almost impossible to control it with one hand. I'm not a Samsung or apple user or fan but they know how to make phones for small hand users ( i never seen a Galaxy with width of larger than 70 mm, just compare dimensions of Galaxy S series, or iPhones) and other problem is Mi 8's battery (3400mAh Li-Po) which is not enough for a 6.21" display (also a Dual sim phone !!! ) , just remember Xiaomi Mi 6 had a 5.15" display with 3350mAh Li-Po battery, ( i know Li-Po stores less power in compare of Li-Ion but you know that most of the battery's charge goes for display and if you use a second sim card it will drain faster than before) i don't know why Xiaomi which we know it with high capacity batteries for phones is making these models, might be they forgot they had some models with 4100mAh Li-ion batteries and 5" displays and 69mm width, the smaller version of Mi 8 is bad also, Mi 8 SE specs: 5.88" Dispaly and Dual Sim with a 3120mAh Li-Po Battery and 147.3 x 73.1 mm !!!! :((( what are you doing guys ?!

Don't understand the haters calling Xiaomi copycats cos they weren't the first. In 2018, it seems all flagships are gonna have a notch including leaked images of Pixel3 and just because the Mi8 doesn't have headphone jack and corner camera placement, it is being slated? It is a phone that resembles iPhone X in a Xiaomi way. Personally, I like it, and the notch there, hm..., I find it reasonable because it is there to hide Infrared Facial Scanner, not just earpiece, front camera and proximity sensors. AMOLED screen is another novelty and a wise decision. Long story short: this phone is the best Xiaomi phone to date!

Delusion? People are delused they buy samsung or apple even if they have to pay 3000 per piece. Dont get me wrong but not everything which cost 1000+ means quality. Vertu was quality and now they are gone. Samsung does quantity they sell much more than xiaomi but in case of quality they make all at speed up setup i mean in rush and thus they phones barely last 2 years. Just look at the J series. Asking 250 eur for a phone worth 120 maybe 150. Their S series are the same. Nothing extra to ask 1000 diollars for S9+. Xiaomi blackshark cost 1/3 of that and offers same power. Apart from water resistance and a bit worse camera the phone is like equal and cost only 1/4 of S9+ price. Dont get me wrong but i rather support great phone for great price than rubbish in a gold shiny coat.

In case of Sony they ask really high money for their devices and they are not even on top ten in sales in brands. LG is even worse. In past HTC was outstanding brand now its barely visible and had to be bought by google to save its brand from total bancrupt. LG doing excellent TVs best among all the competitors and their TVs division hold ashore other branches such as phone division. Sony is same. And Xiaomi updates it's devices?! They usually come out with the worst possible software, Xiaomi phones generally need 3-4 updates(if you're lucky) or more to get a truly stable & working one out. BTW.I was just starting some obvious facts like how that unecesary notch will be very visible with that screen (when the screen is off) and that the iPhone x improvised notch is already a trend. Not a Samsung fan but for the moment they are Apple's only competition in the "design department".

There are too many pahablet sized screens which are really a pain to carry in ones pocket. Many reviewers blindly write about one handed operation etc.. I hope there MI 7 sticks to its DNA of 5.2 screen or overall height is kept within 140mm to 142mm range. With Infintiy/bezeles display you are anyway getting a 5.5"screen...Why the hell should phones be more than 155mm height, leading uncomfortable protrusions from pocket? Hope sensible ergonomics and design sense prevails, keeping utility of the device in mind. And Xiaomi, better release this in India this time..or be prepared to loose a sizable chunk of customers who are looking for a Pixel/Apple/essential sized phone at Reasonable price.

Fully agree with your view. Phones below 145 mm are perfect to handle. Since Mi 7 is almost bezel less, the height may be less or equal to 145mm. If it is more, I have to stick to my still strong Mi 4i or go for Redmi 4 or look for other brands within 140mm height.

Man IP68 is useless add-on for clumsy people who call under rain go swim with their phone. Accidental water damage means you are careless and clumsy. Having 128 or 256 GB disk space for that memory card is really useless. I dunno what exactly you want. Its another space which has been replaced with bigger battery. Point 3 is useless as long as they took anything crappy to lover its final price for maximizing sales. 4. No jack as point 3. In present era no flagship having a jack and no flagship needs it. Jack was good in past when there were phones like Nokia Xpress music which had great sound and were used primarily for this. Hey people make up your minds....big or small display / aspect ratio ? some want even bigger !!! personally I really don't care about screen size as long as the hardware can handle it properly. However, I still have issues here as I had with Mi 6. 1. No water+dustproof, No IP68 - Splash proof only ? : Not good. 2. No SD Card slot ...at all 3. No (proper) OTG supporrt , as USB Host. 4. No 3.5mm earphone jack Since this looks as an upgrade over Mi 6 at around 350 EUR, Xiaomi better be careful with what they throw into this market segment. Looking forward to their final /official spec release sooner the better cuz I need my second phone soon.
