I had this phone. At first about 2 years, it works good, but after 2 years it begin to lagging. I can't broke the screen, I played football with this phone, but nothing. It was in snow 2 times at all day and it worked, but it wasn't waterproof. Now its system is broken and I can't restore it, beacuse it isn't rooted. Sorry for bad english.

I've had one of these for years. I've barely used it, only because I bought it to use years ago after I trashed the phone I was using at the time and was waiting for the Nexus 6 to launch. This phone is 95 percent unusable now, by which anything other than basic web browsing will slow this phone down to a crawl and the phone becomes seriously laggy. Even just web browsing is slow. Forget about using Facebook/Instagram/Tumblr or any social media apps. Just phone calls and text messaging is about all this phone can handle now The screen is rather nice though

Had mine for four years. Great for a first phone! Does the job and the battery easily lasts the day without spending a lot of time on apps. Not a lot of space and pictures are low quality. Happy with it overall

I like it very much i used it for about five years . I have iphone and huawei cellphone too but i like bcz its lightweight ,under 100 grams, its ok for calling and browsing the volume of speaker is high the battery is not huge but swell suited for it and i like it can be charged by any charger i usually use it for wifi connection and i grab it in my hand without feeling it.

It was very alarming that my Mini Alcatel Idol phone from Bell overheated on my flight to Florida recently. The Airline staff and myself were unable to shut it off. It was overheating in my purse and I was very scared!!!!!! Bell should not have sold me this Known Overheating Phone and the one year Warranty is barely over. What now??????

Yes the FB app does not work well with it. I disabled it and used the browser to go on FB. Even had a tab on the front screen so it felt like using an app.

Still my reliable workhorse for more than 3 years now. Only using this phone exclusively for calls, messaging as well as FB Lite (Since the FB app is slow and makes my phone shut down then boots up). If you want to make your Idol Mini last longer, I would suggest resetting it to factory settings and disabling and uninstalling the apps that is too slow for the phone (Maybe include the FB app if you have the same problem as mine). My new Galaxy J1 (2016) now handles the things that my Idol Mini used to handle.

Had it for almost 3 years. At first it was really fast, I could even multitast. The last 6 months connecting with 3g made it really slow, worked better with wifi though. I was content with it, until one day it got a white screen. It served me well though all this time.

Got one of these for my mother to introduce here to smartphones and I can't for the life of me, figure out how to extend the timeout for the button lights. Anyone know? They come on for about two seconds when you touch them, and then turn off again. What's the point in having lights on the buttons if they only light up AFTER you touch them? That's the ONLY time you DON'T need the lights because you just found the button!

Forgot to mention. The earphone Jack stopped working 4 months into me owning the phone then later the mini USB port stopped working altogether meaning I could no longer charge it. The charger the phone came with ended up setting on fire so I had to get rid of it before it set my house on fire.

Horrible. I ended up just throwing it away because it was so bad. First off the lack of storage on mine wouldn't have been so bad if it wasn't for useless preinstalled apps I never use. It just took up so much space and made installing more than a few apps too difficult. The camera is nothing amazing but gets the job right for a budget phone. The main issue though was the lack of ram. 500 ram is nothing at all and some apps even crash due to there being nothing left. And even if you could install apps they perform so badly. Would not recommend to anyone.

Had this phone for a few months at one point, and very early on the touch screen became so unresponsive it was near impossible to use. It opened apps on it's own and it even slid the lock screen's "Slide to unlock". Touching in one area on the screen would cause a reaction of erratic movements or response in another point. If you can get past that, the actual phone was incredibly slow. It took minutes to open any app, even the pre-installed ones (e.g. the camera). Easily the worst phone I've ever used.

This is probably the worst phone I have ever used. There are so many issue with this phone, and the most annoying issue is lagging. It takes so much time to open an app or text a message. I have reset this phone for like a thousand times now, just to make it faster again. Your newly transfered files such as pictures & music doesn't appear in the library sometimes. There's also an issue where some messages are received a bunch of times like text-bomb. I recommend you not to buy this phone but if you do, don't install facebook, instagram, twitter, or any other apps that run in the background. It'll be almost unusable.

Terrible phone, So laggy, hardly any apps can be downloaded due to the 2GB storage. The camera is horrible. Opening an app takes about 10 seconds and the apps often crash. Worst phone I've owned. I had it for less than 6 months when it started lagging so badly. It literally takes me 10 minutes to try and send one short text message because it takes forever to open the app, forever to type a single letter, and half the time it thinks you're holding down the letter keys so it gives you the number. Then you have to backspace a bunch of times, but it thinks you're holding that down so it backspaces like 2 lines before it recognizes that you're not holding it down. Aside from that, it takes forever to open apps and once they are open you can count on them crashing at least once, and it basically takes a really really long time to switch between tasks i.e. going from an app to the home screen, or from texting someone to the texting menu. I don't mean like a 2 second delay, I mean like 5 long seconds. The camera is awful too, especially front facing. My face literally looks pixelated.

This is an awful phone! It's been lagging ever since I got it. I was never quite satisfied with it. Over the time, things were getting worse. It was having problems recognizing new songs after I had transfered them from my laptop so I used to have to restart is a couple of times so that they can show up. Same thing goes for pictures, sometimes after I'd restarted my phone, it wouldn't even show any pictures in the gallery, it would say that there were no pictures to show, and other times it would only show 2-3 albums out of 10. Among other things, recently it even stopped recognizing my SIM card. This is such a pain in the ass. And the most recent issue is that the three command buttons(?), such as the command for home screen, going back etc. don't work anymore! I'm so done with this phone, I've regretted buying it even since the first week I got it. Never buying anything from Alcatel again.

Just open the phone housing using your thumb nail or a sharp driver. before that there is a secret screw under one one of the sim covers. loose it first. remove the taping on the upper part of the battery. loose the screws there and pull out the plug.

Really good looking phone, the design is brilliant. But if you're looking for a phone to use for a long period of time, skip this one... After a year it starts to lag incredibly. Battery is slowly dying out, camera is 5/10, the amount of bugs I had on this phone is astonishing. And I did took care of it throughout the period of usage.

Try doing this. Press and hold the up volume key and the power/lock key until it lights up the screen. Wait until the phone shows factory data reset. Use the down volume key to go to wipe data reset and press power/lock key to select. Use the down volume key again to go to yes delete all user data and power/lock key to select it. It will show wiping data....resetting data..... Once the reboot system now is highlighted press the power/lock to reboot the phone. That's the HARD RESET.!!!!!

Ah yes it does have a slot it is on hte side, you open it with a needle and it is right beside the sim card, I have 32gb card in mine.

I've had one of these for a few months now and its great :) Its short on memory but has never slowed down despite having installed about 30 apps. Battery life is very good! I think it went about 4 or 5 days once before I had to charge it again. I talk on the phone for a couple of hours every day. I think putting WIFI on drained it a bit more.

Absolute garbage. Twice rapaired because screen was acting crazy by himself. It turns on bluetooth, plane mode, calls people by itself. Charger plug is broken, I barrely even charge it. It moves icons by itself, changes time from 24h to 12h, very bad for typing messages and so on...

Over it's an okay phone, not the best but also not the worst. I've had this phone for almost a year now and I've had some problems with it,but not as many as others have. It tends to glitch a lot and doesn't do very well with any memory.

This is actually a pretty good phone. Bought this about a year ago and luckily I bought it at a discount price of 6,999 PHP instead of 7,999 PHP (Philippine Peso). It runs very well and the camera has a pretty result. But the great mistake I made is that I bought the dual sim version of it which make my microSD useless. Hahahaha! ;P

Hi Zero, 1. Try to check your recently installed apps, it may have a task that keep on running that may drain your battery. It may also have a virus or whatever. 2. Are you using wifi or Mobile data? Turn off Syncing of Photos. It drains the battery if it is the first time.

Same problem to me. But if u enter the developer mode you can activate the debug mode for the screen and u can see that it feels a touch. I just showed it to the support center and the replaced the screen module. No it's ok. The only problem is that it's soooo slow....and sometimes lags too much to operate.it's a shame 'cos ti was a great phone.

I've had this phone for several months (I believe) and its been pretty good until a short while ago, I had problems� It would try and open Settings by itself and other similar things happened. I finally tried to backup and I did a Hard (Factory) Reset. Nothing changed. I took it back to Bell Mobility and I was very fortunate because there was an apparent free exchanging with a new phone and today was the last day! So I was happy that I got a new one. Apparently one of the Bell workers were telling me that there was a static problem and there was abad batch etc.

Love the phone so far, no problems whatsoever. Although it lags with some apps. 3D gaming is awesome and music is awesome too. For good audio get yourself some kickass headphones and you're good to go. I love the design as well, many ppl ask me where I got it from and what phone it is. They convey a shocked face when I tell them it's an Alcatel. For better stuff get an external memory to avoid saturating the main internal memory.

Maybe it's something wrong with your unit. On my OT idol mini 6012x quality of sound is ok with Sony or Sennheiser in-ear headphones. Basses are strong enough with EQ on.

Nice looker, but dissapointing. I am using Idol Mini dual sim for 6 months. It looks good, well built and stylish. Acting as much more expensive phone. The screen is nice looking. The colours are good and brightness is ok even in high sunlight. Some says 512 MB RAM is not enough. If You are not a gamer and using only few apps at once it is enough. There are some lags, but they are not annoying (i.e. iPad Mini with iOS 7 suffers with lags- I got it and I know). The dual core CPU from MediaTek run nicely and NO HEAT (MTk 6572 is 28nm technology). 3D Graphics... well can't say. Arcade Pinball runs smoothly. Dual sim is a stand by dual, but it works OK. So, that's all good. Now the bad. Dual Sim has no memory card slot. It has only 2gb internal (app) memory and 4gb user memory. Quite enough for no expecting user, but when You make even a short movie... It will be filled instantly. BTW, camera. They say 5MP camera, yeah right. Even Samsung Galaxy Gio (3MP) makes better shots. The pictures are blurred, overexposed , oversaturated and no details. The noise removing algorythms are too brute. This cam us only for purposes like- show the existance of building. And the last thing, that made me hate this phone. The sound. The speaker works OK, but to be honest, who is using speaker to listen music? The attached headphones are kind of joke, so I used ReLoop, Sony, and Technics headphones. The sound is... pityful. Lack of dynamics, no bass, frequency response is below any expectations. Even when I tried to gain the low freqs with EQ, the audio chip seems to get stocked and sound was overloaded but... still no bass! So when You need a general Dual Sim and you dont expect good camera and music it is for You. Now I think I will change to Acer E2 Duo, Xperia M or Desire 500. Because I need dual sim and I want as best sound as possible.

today marks the 3rd month of using this phone as my daily driver. well, not much to rant about considering i have dropped this badly (face down, about 3ft high) hence not a single issue came on and still works like a charm. wifi connects like a breeze neither experienced what others would claim as 'ghost tapping' and battery life has exceeded my expectations as it lasts 1-1.5 days w/ moderate use. should this sucker was only built w/ 1gb of ram and 2000mah...im gonna hold on to this as long as its gonna work. overall verdict, im a satisified user and wud rate it 8.5/10 how about d rest? let me hear ur rants and raves \m/

I bought the Alcatel One Touch Idol Mini 4 months ago. About 6 weeks into having the phone,it kept saying that there wasn't enough memory to take a picture. Then I was having a lot of trouble with the touch screen,I was having to press on it hard when you shouldn't have to. Now my phone is sent in for repairs because apps would open on their own,the phone was always freezing up.The settings page would open when I wasn't even holding the phone. I'm just waiting for it to come back from repairs to see what's going to happen next.

I recently got this phone as a new update, since I had been using my moterola android phone for the past 3 years (which I loved btw.) Anyways, I had to upgrade it, so I chose this. I have to admit, the phone isn't bad but there's a lot about it I'm personally not liking. I downloaded a "Youcam" photo thing in hopes it would give the front facing camera better quality, but honestly it really sucks. Even when I go on skype with friends on this phone, I look like a blurry mess. I also don't like the apps in the phone. Some work well, others don't. I couldn't even get my browser to load without turning off and on the phone again. This is not my ideal choice. I'm not happy with it and I'm considering taking it back and exchanging it for something better. The guy at the store picked this phone for me, telling me all the great qualifications about it. Yet I bring it home and it disappointed me a lot. I wouldn't recommend this phone if you are one to use skype or video chat a lot, that's for certain. Rating: 2 stars out of 5

I have had several issues with this phone. At first the phone worked great and in about month or two the screen started to (ghost tap) and then became iresponsive. Since I bought it from T-mobile (Macedonia) I took it to them and 10 days later I got it with a new screen. 2 weeks later the I started having problems with the network I guess is't the internal antenna. I took it back to T-mobile to get it fixed. I'll post again when i get it back (hopefully soon)..... See ya

Alcatel Idol Mini is averagely good. I literally love the shape except for one single main thimg that is the memory !!!! It is too little indeed. 8 gb is never enough. I wish it can be expanded for dual sim version :(

I LOVE this phone! I'm so glad I didn't get an iPhone. Really I can't think of any down side to thus phone. I like the interface : crisp and clear. I'm new to Google play but found it easy to use. If you want a phone where you can also do email, apps, to do list, this is great. The best thing is that you don't have the stress of carrying around an expensive device.

With my Idol Mini there are a lot of problems I have. first off I can not download any apps even if I use play store, secondly when I am texting I usually can double space and it will leave a period but with an idol mini I can not. I don't like how we have to make a new account to use the app store or to go onto the internet. And lastly the front facing camera takes crappy, absolutely horrible pictures that are so blurry I cant even make out what the picture "I" was taking is. There are no heart emojis ether, and when I try to make a heart emoji it turns into a heart eyes face, which by the way is not in the emoji key board. Ok so this is my second one of these as the first one had the defective screen issue. hopefully this one is good. the store i got it from (target Canada) at first did not want to replace the phone because it was outside of their 15 day doa return policy for mobile devices. after complaining they did replace it. the phone works great and has good battery life.

I had the same problem, the phone work alone, any way, I went to the place where I bouth the phone and people there told that Alcatel indentifyed the problem and tha I should left the phone to change the screen touch and to make a special firmware update. They made that in two weeks! Now it is a great phone, never stuck and when he stops it is easy to going on, just press the power button and press that again and the phone will unstack. Never reboot to fix the issue. Enjoy this great phone.

It is a pleasant surprise finding this in a mall store. I wasn't looking for an additional unit, but seeing it and then holding it in my hands, I got hooked and bought it. It is light like it isn't a phone, simple to use, very good FM reception. It just so happened that a friend begged to buy it from me that I had to let go. I see my friend often, so I always see my Alcatel too.. Nice phone, really nice... Maybe when Alcatel releases a flagship, with LTE, and as nice looking as this Idol Mini.. Same here - Bell said it was a great phone - we have three now in the family - mine spontaneously decided not to let me "touch" most of the letters in my password, so I can't get in. Tried hard resets etc. Bell said to drop it off at a store and they will wipe it and send off for repairs - so everything will be gone; messages, contacts, pics, games, game settings, etc. just wonderful - I have had regular non-smart phones for close to 20 years with no issues - my first foray into smart phones and it lasts less than 2 months before having major issues; and I get to be without a phone for who knows how long while they "fix" it - and how long before it and the other two go back? I guess once the warranty is up, I will be stuck paying for new ones - gee, thanks a lot Alcatel for your crappy product and crappy service; I was not going to go for iPhones due to price, but I may have to because it is cheaper to buy one iPhone for the next 5 years than a new Alacatel one every damn year

I wrote a post a few hours ago about how mine started doing the crazy screen thing but I guess it's still awaiting approval. I deleted all my installed apps except for clean master. I deactivated nearly everything that doesn't effect phone calls and texting using clean master and it seems to be doing it less. I suggest this until you can get ahold of costumer support or wait and see if alcatel makes an official announcement about the problem.

I've had the phone a few months now and it worked fine. Then spring came and it started to get hot out. I put this phone down in my backyard for less then an hour and it started doing this invisible fingers/crazy screen thing. The notification tray pulls itself half way down without even touching the screen and in sms the keyboard won't come up. The phone was really hot so I turned it off and put it in my fridge for a few minutes. The bottom half cooled off but near the top was still hot. I left it off for a day and it was completely cool. I turned it back on and it's still doing the thing with the notification tray.

out of curiousity I switched to Alcatel and got this unit because of its looks. im a big music fan and its loudspeaker and thru headphones are both highly above average. its feel in the hands is tact and solid depsite its thiness. this is one unit you would not be ashamed of holding in front of your peers because it looks classy and premium. i definitely did not regret I started with this unit after being a longtime Samsung fanboy. battery life is OK, I just use this for updating FB status, youtube-ing, playing music thru loudspeaker & it holds up close to 2days before I need to charge this baby. The touchscreen issue is touch/digitizer problem and its not software issue the only way to fix the touch issue is to replace the touch/digitizer. Mine got fixed in 3 weeks in service.

Well like many others here I bought the Alcatel OT Idol Mini because the sales rep at the Bell store told me it was a great phone. It seemed that way for a couple of months and now the touch screen is messed up. Freezing, glitching, opening and closing apps by itself. Phone is going in for service to have the touch screen replaced but from what I've read here it looks like that doesn't really fix the issue. Seems like it will return later. Not happy at all :(

I purchased the Alcatel Idol Mini from Bell on the advise of the sales person. In just over a month it started to glitch (flipping screens, freezing texts and opening and closing of the app by themselves). I went back for some help and after the second visit and a couple of reboots they replaced the phone. I am in at just over a month and the new phone is doing the same thing. I am going to send it in for a warrantee adjustment and cancel my month to month contract with Bell. This phone has been nothing more than bad karma for me.

I had the same problem with the phone opening menus by itself and I solved it.This problem may appear after you spill liquid on the screen.Just clean well the screen with soft cloth and then dry the screen with a hair dryer for about 5 minutes.

Hello if you want to center the homescreen just press the little house symbol on the bottom of the phone its in between the back key and the options key failing that refer to user manual if its still not working chances are the phone is knackered if so return to the shop where you purchesd it from with box and all its contents and receipt they should either swap it like for like or give you your money back

If you go into your contact list, pick a contact then touch the part that is grey and ready for photo. It will give you 2 options, to take a photo and/or select one from your gallery. Once you take photo or select from gallery, you will be instructed to crop it, once you do this, you will have a photo beside that contact name.

I've been using this phone for almost a month. I rate it for 4.5 star out of 5. The display, awesome. The internet browsing speed awesome. The processor and RAM is fine when compared to the selling price. Think about it, if you want better specs, u need 'better' pocket. One thing i learn about using this phone is, when you use it for a month, the cache and temporary files will make your phone super lag. So, what do i do is, downloading some apps from the play store and keep it cleared from cookies, cache, temporary files, and etc. Im satisfied with this phone. The only problem is, this phone still don't have it own accessories on the market such as screen protector, casing and etc. But this phone is still great.

The phone is just too cheap for what it offers... I expected some crap but it's just perfect. The battery is nice. For 9 idle hours it used 1% of its battery. If you play a lot of games the battery lasts for 24 hours which is not bad. I spotted NO LAG. Apps are running perfectly. Basic 3D games like Temple run and Fruit Ninja run without lag. Some games like Deer Hunter 2014 are too "heavy" for the phone and force close. Everything other is OK, just don't run too many apps at once. Other awesome games like Blood&Glory, Samurai 2 Vengeace, Punch Hero, Eternity warriors and Asphalt 7 are running perfectly too. Check their gameplays in Youtube and see what I'm talking about. AOTIM is cheap phone offering an amazingly good perfomance.

( this happen many times ). 2- yesterday, while the mobile is on the table, I heard continuous vibration from the phone, and it didn't stopped until I opened the screen, and there is no message or notification, its not normal continuous vibration. 3- I face very slaw transfer rate during transferring mp3 files from my PC, even when the files too small ( 10 , 20 mb ), and many time cant transfer files ( mp3 ), because the time is too long the operation stopped. 4- many times the mobile adjusted to silent mood automatically. 5- today when I connected my mobile to the PC, its not appeared on the PC even after restarted, but I have connected it many times without any problems. i bought one 3 days ago after my lenovo a706 was snatched. i guess the price range of alcatel when compared to lenovo brand is reasonably equal. based on my experience to alcatel one touch idol mini Alcatel OT-6012E, i was confused about the storage designs. expandable memory available only for single sim. this model is not available here in the Philippines and i didn't know the dual sim model has limited storage capacity (around 5GB ROM). i am not that convinced that the battery is built in. but in some point, according to the sales associate that assists me, i am confident that my unit's battery will only be replaced with genuine alcatel battery. over all, by-experience-review, i am satisfied with the screen resolution and pixel density. it has finer shots both front and back camera compared to my lenovo a706. i am not disappointed of the internet speed performance knowing this unit only has dual core processor vs quad core processor of my previous unit. a plus for the advanced bluetooth file sharing. loud and clear sound despite of small speaker vs the treble rich speaker of my old unit. the dolby digital feature of my old unit (is for headset use only) the screen response is fast but i am not sure if the ROM and RAM can handle thousands of undeleted messages or the performance will slow down. i hope the nillkin frosted shield hard case will also offer cases for this unit.

I just bought this idol mini last monday.. still tweaking. I have not used my regular sim here, just my other sim. I just had one charge and battery is still about 50% after 2 days.... i would say very efficient. I already have a case for this which i bought from sulit(on-line).

For your first question YES! there is a turn to mute function..you can find it in the SYSTEM SETTINGS and then GESTURES.. For your second question YES! the 512 ram is very enough to run the applications smoothly..

I think for the SINGLE SIM phone there is a card slot to put your micro sd memory card..so there is no problem with that..unlike for the DUAL-SIM..we cannot expand our memory :(

Just bought this phone last week and so far this phone is good..the only downside of this phone is when you're using the DUAL SIM (like mine) you cant upgrade the external memory card which is 4GB only..only the sigle sim (which is on the specs) can be upgraded because there is a card slot unlike the DUAL SIM..you cant open the back case of the phone But so far this phone is good..gonna recommend this to those still planning to buy this phone

Battery life: I've used the phone about a week with only one charge. A few calls every day, daily check for emails, ocasional browsing, a few video and voice recording (installed and tested some apps), a few photos.(no games, movies or facebook, just testing youtube and videos I've recorded) I must say I'm impreseed compared with my previous HTC Wildfire s which held two days with one charge (same usage).

Nice phone and i'm enjoying every bit of its amazing features. yes, i agree that for this low cost phone, it's like using a expensive one (i.e. iphone & S4). I will really recommend this to all especially for those whose budget are tight. Everything is perfect except voice/sound encoding quality. I think software is not optimized with hardware when digitising voice. Listening to music is beautifull with EQ activated and good headphones. Calling sound is clear and no noise in background but the voice is somehow changed: is a little robotic, like converting sound to small bitrate. This effect is the same with or without "noise cancelling" or using handsfree. The result is that is hard for me to recognize the person I'm talking with by the voice and also that person is complaining the my voice is "strange". My previous phone -HTC Wildfire s- no issues at calling. Also there is plenty background static sound (hum or hiss) when recording video or audio. I've found that in video recording mode, if I select meeting in audio options the hum is at lower frequncy and is not so disturbing. My previous phone -HTC Wildfire s has less background audio static but also the recording volume was a little lower.

I got this phone just 2 days ago. I'M amazed with it's quality. Best screen i've seen on lower-end handsets... sleek looking and extremely light. The only drawback would be the limited memory. So far browsing experience is quite impressive. No regrets buying this phone... it may not fair to an iphone or samsung galaxy processor wise but if your looking for a cheaper alternative, this is one good choice.

I have bought this phone. Its superb! I like it. Especially the screen. Makes me feel like using an iphone. :p For those who mainly use their smartphone to socializing - Twitter, Instagam etc, this is a good phone as its come with the latest android ver. 4.2.2. Besides, it was cheap!I bought in Malaysia just for RM460 after bargain with the shop owner. lol The cons is : 1.Its hard to hold this phone in one hand as this phone is too thin. But that is okay. 2.The ppi and pixel of this phone is low. So when playing a Hd game like Subway Surf, I can see some of the pixel. But that is not a big problem for me. Its okay as long as I can play the game as I use the phone for socializing - Twitter, Insta etc.
