Bad camera, easily overheated, and I'll never forget those wonderful 3 months where Alcatel decided to incorporate adware into their factory applications--going as far as to add a "Battery Saver" button that you literally couldn't get rid of. And just like that, it was gone again, just making it more clear how worthless it was. Maybe Alcatel should just try making phone cases or something. Even their whole selling point was not the phone itself (as it's lame), rather, some VR headset that you will realistically use thrice for the entire phone's lifespan and zero times for any regular person's practical use. Their other selling point (take a look at the box, it's right there...) is the "BOOM" button. "Boost your emotions. Press the BOOM key to take your Smartphone's experience to the next level". What does it do? Make a lousy splash animation on the home screen. Am I a joke to you? The only semi-use is taking a photo without turning on your phone's screen. It doesn't tell you what the phone can do, the title text is occupied by "IDOL 4--VIRTUAL REALITY INCLUDED" and "LIVE 360" and not what the PHONE can do. Let's tackle every single selling point that took a backseat to the gimmicky plastic featured in the front: "PREMIUM DESIGN; Thin with metal finishes". What they don't say is that this is so weirdly assembled the external metal scraps that make it up can actually come flying out, or at least pop out, in one fall. Absolute garbage. "Reversible screen and audio"? WHO CARES?! "Interactive photography, 360 mode". Nice to note they NEVER compliment the photo quality itself. Oh well, at least I can have fun with my 3-pixels-per-megabyte accidental recreation of View from the Window at Le Gras as I do swirls with a plastic box strapped to my head for a grand total of 10 seconds before shelving the headset right back and only taking it out for the packaging a year later to write about how terrible the entire deal is! "Powerful speakers" yeah, they're just regular phone speakers. And finally, "All your music in ONE APP". Do I look like the kind of guy who listened to music on one device through 5 separate applications? Probably non-applicable, as you can't look at me. But you're safe to assume no being in this planet does, so by process of elimination, I still don't. Never buy from a brand that seriously considered at one point injecting malware in their unremovable applications, went ahead and did it. And most importantly, never buy a phone that waves around unrelated, non-practical gimmicks in the place of actual features.

is it only me or the button for power on and off of ths phone just stops working after long use i have used it for 2 years and at first i used nails till they break, then a pen, then i removed the button and tried with scissors till today, when i just totally opened and broke this crap. from now on alcatel just doesnt exist for me. worst phone ever from inside out

This is by for the worse phone I ever owned. It's slow as hell, you can delete messenger or YouTube. Constantly freezes up it sometimes takes me 10 min to make a call. Sometimes the keyboard freeze and can't do nothing. If your finger is wet and you touch them the don't work for an hour. I just want to snap this piece of crap in half.

Alcatel phone worked and then it didn't work!! Customer service is terrible, inefficient and they hung up on me - when I complained about their phone! Data usage is a joke. They know phone is lousy and won't work in the looong run.

I'm finally replacing this phone after 2 years. Problems really began when Alcatel did an automatic update and put Joy Launcher adware/ malware on phone. Can't uninstall it, can barely use phone now. DON'T BUY AN ALCATEL PRODUCT! The company has no honor.

This is the worse phone I have ever had. I wouldn't give this phone to my worse enemy. Texting omg, don't text too much, you hit the send button and all your text has disappeared. Loses the whole screen only to take two centuries to return. I swear, I'm taking a hammer this phone tomorrow, regardless to the situation, I will be purchasing another phone.

One of the worst phone, it's like a dabba, no use. I bought alcatel one touch six months ago. Condition of this mobile is that repaired six times, still have problems, after complaining to customer care, no proper response from there side, internal storage is very low, you cannot call it's a smart phone and cannot used as a dual sim phone. Service center for this mobile are few,but they can't response quickly.... So sorry very poor phone.... Poor customer service ....poor battery ....low quality parts.. Poor camera vision ...

I had this phone for a year often changes background itself can only have one app on it at a time and randomly makes it to where I the screen doesn't correspond to my touch and have to take battery out to restart. This is very stupid, the only thing I found good about an Alcatel is that it is very very hard to crack the screen

Terrible phone. When I text certain people, if it is more than about one short sentence, the text goes totally to asterisks, @ signs, exclamation marks etc. Or, with one person I text regularly, it is all in Chinese! I kid you not. I have contacted the help desk several times and sent them pictures of the texts and they claim to have no idea why it is happening.They try blaming the other persons phone. I have it set on the language setting they tell me , duh, English,...and all other settings which they ask me to check. They have been no help whatsover in solving the issue. I will never buy another!

My alcatel One Touch is a worthless phone. I have had it for 2 years and am getting rid of it, period. I've had to factory reset it way too many times because the memory has been used up -- and i only use it as a cell phone: NO EMAILING. NO ADDED APPS. NO MAPPING DEVICES. NO NOTHING! I only use it for phone calls and texts. Very disappointed, frustrated, and amazed that this product is still up for sale. The BIGGEST mistake i ever made.

My Alcatel phone tells me I am not connected to my phone service once a day. I must reboot. When I use the wall or car charger I must turn it all the way off or I lose power a percentage point at a time.

I recently purchased an Alcatel. It is the worst phone that I have ever used. It's overheating and cutting off. When I make a call, the person I am speaking with can barely hear me. There are a lot of built-in apps that I will never use and after I installed only two apps the phone says storage low. SMH . I regret buying this phone. I will never buy an Alcatel again. Staying with Samsung. Very displeased with the phone.

This Alcatel One Touch phone should be taken off the market ASAP. Mine overheated and scared me to death for fear of a fire while I was in an airplance on a 4 hour flight. Could NOT be shut off. Now, it is completely NOT repairable and I've lost my money. I only had this phone for 18 months. This Alcated phone is a completely disgraceful product and please STAY AWAY from it.

I bought my Alcatel a couple of months ago, it worked fine but now its malfunctiong. My calls are not coming in, which I hate cause I have an elderly mother that calls me and now my calls aren't coming thru. Even my messages are not going thru. And when I'm looking up places or info on Google,my phone freezes and I have to wait about a few minutes before I can type. This horrible,I'm on a fixed income. I bought this phone based on information from the sales rep. I now see that it is apparently a part of an inventory that could not sell. This phone is the worst crap I have ever had in a phone. My screen changes and freezes constantly. My LTE to wireless changeover does work most of the time. So, I am often in a position where I can not connect to internet at all which could be life threatening if I am search for directions when lost or in an unfamilar location when traveling. I use it to look up vendors when in the field at work and it never works so I carry a phone book in my car. It is a real waste of my $150 and I have had it less than 90 days.

This phone is stupid i hate it because it's stupid to have the phone screen not work when it's cracked and so now i have one long crack from the bottom of the phone to like somewhat part of the middle and that bottom of the screen doesn't work and then just today it got cracked in the top corner and it isn't that big but it seems that i can't even press where q,a,z, uppercase, w and ?123 without turning my phone to the side since i have to use my phone upside down because of the long crack at the bottom! This phone sucks!

Well I've owned my Alcatel one touch phone for close to six weeks and for now the only problem I have is that my home screen clock and weather widgets don't update properly. I never turn it off completely I just shut down the home screen (sleep mode) . If I do this at 12 noon then wake it up sort of speak at 2:15 pm it will still be stuck at 12 noon. Kinda senseless.

This is the worst phone ever! The same day that I bought the phone, it froze the moment it was charged and reset itself. I took it back to the store and it worked..for 45 seconds then shut off and restarted again! I turn on ringer and the phone VIBRATES! I put the phone on vibrate, IT RINGS! I'm in a call and the phone will freeze completely to the point where I have to take the battery out and call the person back after I put the battery back in. This phone is 100% worthless.

This is an absolute piece of trash. The phone is made of the dirt cheap and doesn't function properly. It vibrates when vibrate is turned off. It rings when the ringer is turned off. The screen doesn't rotate all of the time. Worst piece of junk Ive come across in a good while as far as phones are concerned.

After owning this phone for 10months..the microphone has broken so i am not able to make calls. It was sent back to alcatel and i was told a load of garbage from.their repair centre..that the microphone was fine but it had screen damage and an issue with the flex. Both of which aren't true. Rang alcatel only to be spoken to really rudely by their call centre staff..no help whatsoever. They now want me to pay £42 to fix a problem the phone doesn't have. AVOID THIS PHONE at all costs !!!

A friend has this phone and it sucks! She is talking to me and others when it puts me on hold then disconnects. After disconnecting it calls anyone in her contact list without her even touching the phone. Half of the time it is in the middle of the night it will just call without even being touched. We "talked" last night 8 times but only really talked for 8 minutes in the entire 8 times because of this issue. She is on disability and a fixed income since this phone cost like 70 bucks she really can't afford to get another one. However she can't afford to keep this phone either. I will buy her a phone and she can pay me back a little at a time so she can have a phone to call out if she needs medical help. Please do not buy this phone because you will have nothing but trouble with it and it will raise your blood pressure if you buy one.

bought my idol 3 on a 2 year plan in june of 2015. in dec of 2015 i was on the phone when it let out a screech so loud i went deaf in my left ear. i called my doctor later at home from land line and saw her that day and started my journey of specialists foe 2 months. no luck nothing could be done . i have been wearing a hearing aid now and can only say this phone has made life miserable for me and my wife. hearing aid is ok but nothing like my own hearing. is there a law suit out there if other people have this experience. if so please put it on the web site. i live in ontario canada. thank you for reading this john b.

It doesn't open apps sometimes and it freezes constantly. Im trying to open different types of apps and the phone just can't handle it. When ur in a rush and need something like an order number for cinema tickets it just freezes. Doesn't recognise when u press something on the keyboard. In regards to the Alcatel Ideal phone: Made the mistake of purchasing this phone for a few days until I am able to get to AT&T for my real phone to be fixed. At first, I thought this was a steal of a deal, and upon first using it, everything seemed fine. However, I have not been receiving any text messages--even with my own SIM card inside the phone. Camera is also shit, and it appears that I am always in a dark room--even with every light on and screen at full resolution. Bummed I chose this over a flip phone... at least with that, I would be able to be in contact with people. Poor form, Alcatel.

I bought the Alcatel One Touch about 3 months ago, and it stinks. I turn the phone off, but if I'm touching it anywhere, it dials some random number.....but it doesn't give you the screen with the hang-up button, you have to touch and touch and touch to get to one, and then apologize to whoever you called. Yesterday, it put someone on hold - I wasn't even holding it and when I got control of it, it hung up on them. I'm looking for a new phone. This is not a smart phone, it's a dumb phone - I think I liked my old senior citizen phone a lot better - never had these problems. Photos are awful.

All I have to say is that its a piece of shit NEVER buy it, it stops apps and music plays by itself keyboard takes about a minute to type and turns off by itself no storage even with an SD card..press the home button and wait about 2 minutes to react..worst phone I've had. Not to say the apps get closed by themselves and calls emergency number by itself...DONT recommend for anybody

I got the Alcatel Idol 2s from Bell 1.5 years ago and it is the worst mistake with phones I have made. It won't read the extra memory card so can only use the phone memory. It won't play music correctly, I even downloaded other players but the processor will stop the music for 3-10 seconds several times during a song (so it can buffer I'm guessing). To wake the phone up I litterally have to press the on/off button for so long the phone wakes up fiinally and wants to restart. I would not suggest these phones to anybody. I have another few mponths until I can get a different phone but may but this one out because it is almost unusable.

I have had this phone for a little over 3 years, I had really minor problems with it and it did, however, slow down with time. Asides from that, the phone is still working fine, and I'll still use it from time to time, but I upgraded to a Lenovo Vibe Shot (lovely phone as well).

Stay away from alcatal phones, i had one, only lasted about 6 months then the battery died, could not get one anywhere and when i finally did locate a battery for it in america of all places it was about 5 dollars more that the origial cost of the entire phone.

i bought this phone because my other phone died and i need a phone asap! Do NOT buy this phone! it constantly over heats. I cant even open an app without it stating the ap is not responding. I have to shut the phone off and restart it constantly. The phone even refuses to shut off. Very annoying!!!!! I make sure i delete all cookies and searches and scan the phone for viruses...... it still wont operate apps. Internet......what internet access. every time i try to user the internet i get the same thing...... internet NOT responding. And forget about using a couple apps at once....not gonna happen.

I bought this phone 5 months ago. I also,bought a case protector along with it. The first 30 days it work fine. The first thing that happen is it stop taken screen shots. Didn't really pay it no mind but, a day or two later it wouldn't power on. I have had my fair share of cell phones but, this is by far the worst of the worst of cell phones. When I went to the cricket store to see if they could reset my phone they acted like it was something I had done to the phone. Never again will I buy off brand phone.

I have to say this cheap Alcatel One Touch is the best damn phone I've ever had. Its fast, easy and so far, no problems. Screw replacing this one. Alcatel products are worthless. Pricey but worthless. I paid $125.00 for this piece of shit phone and thought it would be worthy because of its price. First of all the reception is horrible. I had major issues with people hearing me on the other end. When I told this to Alcatel they tried to blame it on my service provider. Please. Within 5 months of purchasing this piece of shit, the phone went completely mute. The ringer, incoming text, email notifications all silent and the phone was not on vibrate. I literally had to watch my phone to see if it was ringing because I couldn't hear it. When I tried to use Alcatel's one year warranty, they had the nerve to make the customer return phone to them at customer's expense. Not to mention Alcatel has some of the rudest customer support representatives ever. Even after they fixed phone they didn't even tell me what the problem was. What reason would a phone that cost $125.00 just go bezerk in 5 months. As if that wasn't enough, within 2 months of me receiving that crappy phone back the text message indicator wouldn't clear and basically telling me I received a text even though I didn't. When I reported it to Alcatel of course they want me to send them the phone at my expense and I of course declined and said the hell with it. I'll just deal with it and wait for this piece of shit to completely combust. Little did I know that would happen 8 months later. That's right, Alcatel One Touch's battery of only 13 months old died and needed to be replaced. Obviously, I wouldn't sink one more cent into this piece of shit so needless to say my Alcatel One Touch is being used for no more than a overpriced paperweight. I replaced it with a real phone where the people I'm speaking to can actually hear what I'm saying so it was not my provider as Alcatel tried to elude to. People do your homework before you purchase your phone and read reviews. Don't be like me and many others. In summary Alcatel, your phones are crappy and good riddance.

I hate this phone. I have one app and can't install anything else. I can't store photos, always deleting messages because even with a SD card, it says I have no room in memory. But it only has a small amount showing taking up space. I can't update pre-installed apps.

I agree....worst ever. I cannot read my emails without downloading n when I try to to read it takes so long or never opens either way I never can read them from the phone. The settings are complicated n not easily accessable like other phones befor where theres an icon above. It goes off n on when it wants. The battery dont last long and the alarm is not reliable. Also even though I have the headphones clicked in to listen to music the phone still rings n everyone can hear it. We have a strict phone policy so I usually leave it turned off. It's a metro piece of shit that I bought as an upgrade n recommended by ine of their employees as a big seller w no complaints....yeah right! camera is corrupted by an application that you installed, so check that the application is, when the last of the camera does not work. you'll have to delete that application, or install a new one.

I got an idol 3 two weeks ago. It freezes 6 to 10 times a day. I have installed my favourite sat Navy program 8 times. Despite 1.4 g onboard available memory and 20g on the SD card, it crashes at the end of the install, and reports no application to uninstall, but less free memory. It is a nightmare.

Alcatel Idol 1 is great phone. I have it for almost 2 years and I am more than satisfied. There is nothing wrong with this phone. Problem are your heads, that won't try to learn something new. Ofc that phone will "die" if you overload it with apps, so would You if some1 put 2 tons on your back. Ofc phone will update Apps, unless you disable that option on your Play Store, for example = so phone is not a prob.

Alcatel is not a good phone and especially if you are doing business you cannot uninstall preinstalled apps and if you disable an app that was pre installed you cannot uninstall it and because there are apps that you do not want do not use and you try to uninstall and you can't it takes up the memory that you should have available to you and the emergency alert if you disable it it still comes back continually using up the battery which is hard on the phone and its frustrating if you're in a fix and you can not charge up or keep the phone charged up

not a very good phone. it has a good running speed and its graphics is fairly good. but its battery is very bad and 1800 mAh isn't even half adequate. the battery can't handle mobile data opened for more than 3-4 hours. also this mobile has this common touch problem when screen starts touching randomly and then it goes crazy and you can't press anything on the screen. the worst thing ever though, my phone has massive network problem most of time the sims aren't detected or the network coverage is zero. mobile data doesn't work most of the time !

I'm on week 2 with my One Touch and I love it! I migrated from iOS for my personal phone. I have had an Android work phone for 2 years before this and a BB before that. I don't know what some of these FT's do with their phones I guess f you're in a war zone or jumping off roof tops, you can break any phone. When you get it you will be happy for a few weeks then little things will start to now work sometimes like the keyboard... Then the camera.... Then the whole phone. This is the worst phone ever made. I could kick myself for going for the cheapest phone that had a large screen. From day one, it was one problem after another. First, it wouldn't sleep, just drained the battery, next turned it's self off or on. Then it completely took over location access and Bluetooth capability. I've returned it to Straight Talk, and they are supposed to send me another one, but I think I should be saving my money for a new phone.

Alcatel mini idol 2 or whatever they call it is junk! I blame the Lady who tricked me into buying this scam! It freezes as I type, I can't hear, Facebook and other applications take ages to log in, network is poor! I've had this phone for 6 months, just recently I've had the problem where I can call and receive calls but there is no voice contact. I brought it in after having tried to fix it and I am awaiting....using a loaner for now which is a Samsung S3. After having read some of the complaints on this forum it is becoming obvious that this phone has some inherent problems, I am of the opinion that a switch to something else might be necessary. Incidentally there has been other issues with this phone as well so maybe even this loaner Samsung would be better.

I agree! The phone has been quite good for exactly one year (except for its low memory and poor camera quality). Yet, low and behold, one week after the warranty expired, it just shut down on me and won't turn on. I'll not bother calling their help line after your experiences. It sounds like a con to me. Shame on Virgin Mobile for pushing the phone in the first place!

I use this phone for a year, and it was working great. No problems at all. Last week (7 days after guarantee expired) it stop working. First i coudnt turn it on at all. Display freezes on t-mobile logo everytime i tried to turn it on. I tried few things like soft reset, removing sim and sd card, even factory reset, and nothing happen. Alcatel one touch is an awesome phone I have dropped it many times and it is still in great Shape.I has some problems changing the setting but now it Perfect the only suggestion I have is to put more space in it because 2GB is not enough so be reasonable even an iPod has 8GB so this should have at least 12 - 16GB

Alcatel onetouch is the worse piece of crap I have ever bought. Have owned it for 2 weeks. it has the same sound for text, notifications and voice mail. I have read the whole Manuel, and have spent lots of time on it trying to figure out how to change the sound for each feature. Now I find out there is no way of changing this. It was built to work like that. What a stupid design. Every time it makes a sound, I have to pick it up to see if I received a text, notification, or voice mail. This piece of crap don't have half the features that the other cell phones on the market have. Not only that. But the touch screen is already beginning to fail. My phone company says they will exchange it if the screen does not work. But I'm just going to buy a better one. Don't waste your money on this piece of crap.

The phone calls out, and that's about the only thing it does reliably. If you need any other features at all, they don't seem to work. If you look on the web for tech support, I hope you have a lot of patience, or none at all. You won't find any. If you call tech support, you will find them to be rude, intrusive, off-point, and seem to want to address just about any other problem than the one you need help with....unless you pay them "a one-time fee." Never again.

I got the Alcatel OneTouch for Christmas it is a terrible phone, even with an SD card it will tell you that you do not have enough storage space to install more than two or three apps I am very disappointed with this phone, Camera quality is also horrible. do not like the phone at all, i've been without one for 8 months up until Christmas and I got to say I would rather go phone less for the rest of my life than use an Alcatel OneTouch.

Ok, I've had this phone for about 5 or 6 months and the charger port is destoryied. It started with me plugging iit in and within 5 mins it would be at 100% and it would stop charging. Then i unpllugged it and within 2 mins it would be at 5%. I had to start putting my phone against something to charge it. I wasnt rrough with pulling the cord out.. Why does this happen? Hello Marija. Try to press and hold only the power button until the phone starts (approximately 10-15 seconds, and not more than 30 seconds). If the phone doesnt show some "signs of life" try with pressing volume up and power button in the same time and this should bring you in "download mode", where you can choose what can you do next. Anyways, my advice is: if cant run the phone only with the power button (the first step), better call someone to help you or visit your local phone service. Alcatel Idol 6030x is a very good phone for the price he has and has a very cheap service in every country. I hope my advice and experience can help you. All the best

And there are some apps you can't delete, which take a lot of room. But the internal storage is a lot, so this does not really matter. It is easy to use and it was not really expensive. I've been using this phone for more than a year now (Sun Plan 600), single sim version. I just love its rear and front cam. Good at taking selfies especially outdoor. The disadvantage probably is the RAM since mine only got 512mb. Its fast in browsing the internet using Opera Mini. Playing videos is good due to the resolution. If you are looking for a midrange android phone that will give you your basic needs like surfing the internet, calling, texting with a very nice cam, then this one is for you.. And i just removed my screen protection today (the reason why I am here in the first place). Do I need to buy one or it is okay to leave it like this since it has Dragontrail glass? When you adjust your date settings advanced and received messages, the next time you turn it back to normal date settings, current messages that are being receive don't register on it's latest messages instead they go to the middle lines of your inbox. And you'll be having a hard time scrolling your screen to the middle just to read the messages. Can't alcatel make it like the last messages goes still to its end of lines no matter what time it is received. I guess they had just used the receiving date in ascending order which should not be. This will be difficult to the people travelling to different date lines. This will just scramble their messages on inbox.

This is the worst phone I have ever had.I started having problems with it a week after I bought it. First of all its super slow with everything including the internet. It will kick you off a website when you are on it. This phone also will kick you off your keyboard when your trying to type. Also this phones front camera may as well be non existent because you try and take a front picture and its black. Please please do not purchase this phone.

a friend of mine has core and guess what next to my idol it means nothing,the quality of idol's screen can't be competed (and i have compared it with more expensive with bigger resolution sony phones) furthermore it has bigger screen better resolution and dragotrail glass.and overall it's way more beatiful and well built phone.tcl 820 which is the same phone is sold in etotalk about 400$ think about that when comparing it with any other chinese phone.

This phone is horrible. My daughter had for 2weeks znd the screen kept flashing snd the drop box will come down all by itself coninually. We took it back to t booth where we bought it from and they replaced it. Within 2 weeks it started again. T booth wont honour the waranty says because it was after 30 days from originsl purchsse we have to deal with virgin. Virgin sent it away for repair (along with 10 others that came in that day with the same problem). We had the phone back for less than one hour and it started again. Acetel phone numbers are mysteriously out of service, virgin wont give us ourmoney back will only send for repairs again and tbooth wont bzck the product at all. Once they made the sale its not their problem. I am very frustrated and angry. Any suggestions?

I have the Alactel OneTouch Idolx 6040a. First two months were fine I was actually pleased with the phone. Then the the phone locked up. Ironically on the "Smart Move" startup screen. It would take 10+ resets to get it to boot and all services crashing. Finally Bell replaced it. 24 Hours after I started using the replacement It Won't hold a signal and when there is signal you can't place a call. Real piece of junk. Avoid this phone. I am switching to Samsung S5 today.

I own Galaxy Note and Idol 6030X (=1GB RAM single-SIM version). One friend of mine has HTC Desire 500 so I'm familiar with it too. I can say Idol is great phone for its price, and it has slightly bigger and a better quality display than Desire 500 (IPS vs LCD), with Dragon trail glass which is additional plus. I already rooted it very easily with one click root, and also put the great Nova launcher (free) which enabled me the 5 columns of icons (like on my Note) instead of only 4, and the resizable widgets. Another advantage is near-stock Android JB 4.1 (only some icons are skinned and nohing else, so I got rid of it easilly by putting the Nova launcher, without any further need for some custom ROM). Therefore the phone is pretty fast despite of its only 2-core CPU compared to 4-core on HTC Desire 500. The sound is a high quality on Idol (I can send you instructions to raise-up the stock headphone volume easily if you buy Idol, and it makes the sound even more powerful). The only small advantages of Desire 500 are 4-core CPU and replacable battery. But it is slightly more expensive, and you also need to get rid of useless HTC Sense UI. Both phones accept 64GB microSD (I already have one in my Idol). If you-re a buying Idol, choose the 6030X model (there are also 6030A with 512MB RAM, and 6030D which is dual-SIM 16GB internal ROM but without the microSD slot). Only if you really need dual-SIM and microSD expandability both, then you should take the Desire 500.

I restored the phone to its original factory setting and erased all data like its new out of the box, I did that because the phone was always lagging. After reinstalling the apps most of them wont even open or often times crash, even the original apps that came along with the phone. I tried resetting the phone through settings and tried doing it manually by pressing the power button + volume button however it got the same results, apps are still not opening and often times crash, anyone here got the same experience and how this can be fixed? I was a little bit worried about the battery performance, never needed to charge a cell phone twice in a shot period of time. Reading a little bit around and disabling the GPS I got more time. If your unit is still under warranty. Have this checked by authorized service center. The touchpad maybe manufacture defect. I have experienced that before. They replaced the touchpad and now it's ok already and in enjoying the full capacity and advantage of idol.

I am using this phone a month ago and it's wonderful. Design great, runs fine. I'm pleased with prebuilt apications, only change the mediaplayer to mx player. The weakest point of the phone is the battery. Everyday use it's can handle near two days but if you constantly play 3D games then it could be drained 4-5 hours.

Quality of the sound is very good. It is clear and loud. The battery lasts for 1 and half a day if you use smart phones as me - internet always on, some games, calls, many messages, automatic display brightness, etc. I highly recommend this phone. I just have one problem with it - sometimes my screen locks so touch doesn't work. I have to lock it and unlock twice and it is fine. Sort of error.

Very good made. Good speed and quality. Recently in the smartphone "arena", the meakers are actually concentrating on evertyng else but the "phone" side of the devices ... Unfortunately, Alcatel were not really concentrting on the phone usage side too... - The outbound SIM pickup is extremely awkward. It is either chosen as such deep in the phone settings and then used for all the outbound calls without possibility to cange, or it can be set as "allways ask" and this requires to choose with every dial, making the calls very clumsy. So far I was using Samsung duos S6102 where you can change the default outbound SIM in the notification panel so it could be done VERY easy whenever needed ... Unfortunately I could not find even third party tool/widget that could handle the SIM swich. - The swipe to call/text des not seem to work, as the swipe is smply changing the list between dialpad/history/frquently_called. So ... --> as device: very good made - light, slim, good responce (I may not be correct, as I'm not a gamer). --> as phone: this side of the device usage seems overlooked by the maker.

There are two versions. The single SIM as you say has a SIM and a SD card slot (4gb internal memory). The dual SIM has no SD slot, at its place is the slot for the second SIM, but it has 16gb of internal memory to compensate for the lack of the SD slot.

Does anybody have this funny thing with the screen? I have an Idol 6030 (I guess it's X version, because it's only one SIM and Memory card). My screen blinks for a second and that's it... it's so weird... also, home, multitasking and back buttons do to... didn't notice any pattern of it, wifi is turned of and so is the data transfer over mobile network...

I have this phone for about two mounths and i must say i'm pretty satisfied balancing the price\functions. Advantages:it works great for a midrange smartphone.Mine never freezes,can support a lot of apps .Great camera-great close focus- this is what i like best. Disadvantages:short battery life . Beacuse i work in a phone shop i saw a lot of these types coming back for service for soft issues. I think if you take care of your phone and not stuff a lot of unecessary apps in it this could be one of your best buy!

Hi, I've been using this phone for a week. Everything is great BUT the screen brightness is uneven like they said on one review on the net. It is most visible when the screen is white or black. For example when you enter Settings the upper part of the screen is darker then the bottom. It is not visible much and in applications and games it can't be noticed. Seems that more light is coming from the bottom part of the screen. Anyone else noticing this? Maybe I should replace it...

I had this phone from Sun Cellular plan 600, been using for a a month since day 1, it lags a lot since I have all my social apps running on the background. I've launchers on it like Go Launchers and the device is frustrating become slow so I just Go launcher uninstalled. One thing I hate about this device is it heats up so fast when being charged. I didn't pay attention to it that much since I turn it off when it does that which is annoying. And then the worst thing happened, its loud speaker quit working, like the sound it distorted like its totally intolerable so I had sent for repair. Disappointingly I still don't have the device with and its been a month already, one thing I want to bring up here that their service warranty is so poor that you don't have any assurance of the device going back to you again. Really dissatisfying!

H ino problem for delya even ive been slightly busy but thanks for your feedback nonetheless. As far as i know the accessories like screen guard, flip cover etc are not easily available thus making it difficult to maintain at times. Also i dont think you can get a body glove / back cover for this as well in india..so these are the major drawbacks..dont know much about the service though even though here they boast of having a very big service centre in mumbai but still...as long as it doesnt get heated up then its fine...yea i guess that is the problem with certain units only..thanks for the feedback again mate & take care!

Hi, my experience with this cel is the worst I used my reward plan CLARO IN DOMINICAN. REPUBLIC on this cell and I REGRET IT 1000 times for it,they say has no warranty because supossely it was my fault, reading this chat room i see it is a FABRICATION deffect on that cell, what happens is thatn it only works while conected to the chager, and here nobody know what seems to be the problem. This missfuntion happened after only 3 weeks of usage. Please dont buy this equipment until they Fix what seams a fabrication problem. I have used xperia arc s and today i purchased lg 4x hd but the screen risulte of my Alcatel ot idol 6030d is far batter now i would like to tell you my ot 6030d have dual core proce. and 1 gb ram it keeps usage of ram on 450mb-490mb (withe some apps diabled). But lg keeping on 760mb-790mb even after disabling many features. Battery usage is same. With same speed, remember Ot 6030d is light weight slim supporing two sim cards using dual antenna. Lg is keeping back cover hot. Ot is cool. I like ot it is realy a good deal. Belive me.

Sorry for the delayed response, till now my phone is behaving well. So far so good. I have not found the phone to heatup even while charging. I am not sure if its a generic problem or only with specific handsets. If if there is a problem alcatel website has a comprehensive list of service centres all over India. As far as accessories are concerned, all of them are standard. Idol has a micro usb port and a 3.5 mm headphone jack found in almost all the devices now. I am from a small town in karnataka around 60 km from mangalore. Hence had to buy the phone from ebay.in as no one here had the stock for this phone.

I finally got the phone and have it from past one week. I am just loving it. The screen quality is waaaay waaay better than i expected it to be. Its extremely clear and quality display. The phone feels superb to handle and is of great build quality. It is also thinner than it looks in the pictures. Everything works just fine on the phone 912 mb of user available ram, GPS connects quite fast, even though im not much of a gamer i tried installing real racer and nfs most wanted to check it abilities. It works superb, no lag and the phone has never hung in its week of usage. Surprisingly, fruit ninja does not run smoothly, but i really dont care, i have not tried trouble shooting as i would not want to play it. I have tried installing various launcher, right now im using next and its just awesome. All the 3d effects work flawlessly. The network connectivity is brilliant, I get connected even in the remotest places in the building (including in the lift) were no other phone does, except a few old school nokia. Wifi also connects brilliantly, I get connected were two sony xperias and one HTC does not try to connect. Currently i am using only single sim i have not tried using two sims at once. Bettery last 24 hours ona full charge. I have been using wifi a lot and also tried my hands on gaming. Everyone who has seen the phone has done it for the first time and they just cannot stop admiring it. Its definately an eye catcher. Feel, display and build quality of the phone better than much more expensive samsungs and htc. Micromax, karbon, xolo not even in the league. I have handled the new HTC one and this one togather, both are of same size, but look and feel wise this phone felt better as it was way lighter and thinner. For around 11k rs (~$200) I paid this rocks. Finally, it accidentally had a crash test. On the first day of use the phone fell into a puddle of water and was immersed completely for like 3 seconds before it was pulled out. There is no damage on the phone except for a small scratch :) If you are thinking of buying it go for it. You will not be disappointed.

Alcatel one touch idol OT6030D. Is an awesome and a super light sleek phone. The phone feels feather light in the pocket and when held in hands. It does not feel cheap at all. Powered with with 1 GHZ dual core processor with 1 GB of ram, user available is 685mb. In built 16 GB since it is a Dual Sim phone and the memory cannot be expanded. It has a brilliant IPS display that resists finger prints and oil/grease marks. The sound quality of the phone is very nice and crisp. A screen protector comes along with the other accessories. The camera quality is good and crisp, it aint too bad of a camera that people say. It has different modes of shooting and it captures some great close ups and distant photographs. You have a call coming in , dont want to answer while driving and get disturbed, turn the phone over to mute. Want to snooze the alarm, turn over for snooze. Awesome features. You ca not open the phone. It does not have any covers or screws. There is a 2 years warranty for the phone that includes the battery. I don't think you can change it yourself.

The performance is good,multitask very good, but the PowerVR SGX 531 GPU is not top of the line. If you don't play hardcore games, it runs everything at good framerate. The phone comes with in-ear heaphone. With a PowerAmp it sounds superb, the BASS line is more than you expect. 2year warranty including battery beacuse is a closed phone. Just aluminium and glass.

I had this phone for 3 moths. Is a very good phone. So slim and light. The battery life is 2 days easy. I got 4,5 days as a test. I put it in a Flipcover FC6030 Blister an everybody asks if it is a Samsung or HTC. It looks great. A9 Cortex dualcore CPU runs at 1Ghz but it can be O.C. 1GB of RAM is enough. The camera has the same quality as HTC ONE (tested), the only downside is video is not full HD only 720p. But its high quality. Dragon Trail Glass is very good, no scrathes at all. 198euro with no contract is a bagain!

Hi dunno about the middle east, if its dubai , i guess it is easily available, try calling up a few major dealers such as jumbo, sharaf dg etc & see if they have it..else there are lots of local mobile dealers in the deira area who usually deal in more european and other forgotten brands..i discovered the worlds first android phone there!!! hope this helps!

go to ebay.in, search for alactel one touch idol 6030d ( "d" stands for dual sim )...you will get a few distributors in india who are dealing with this brand, ask them if they have the "dual sim" version & if yes, go get it..Only the Dual Sim version has 1GB Ram...please note that 6030"a" is single sim & will have 512mb ram only...infibeam & flipkart dont have Dual Sim version yet...good luck!

It is the best set on the price rating compare to other set of the same specs. Remember. Every smart phone need a night charging. Pixel rating is sufficient enough to not disturbe vision. Shape and size is perfect. Very fine finishing. Not very thick and heavy. Battery ..... i prefer to Chang the set when battery is finishing its life. And phone is a daily continuius using thing after 2 years it is to be change anyone of you have seen any old set in use.? No be cause its life is only 2 years. Idol user here from philippines..got mine from sun plan 600 Its the 6030a version, 512mb of ram, single sim..1ghz dual core cpu and powervr sgx 531 gpu. Rooted, ram manager installed and using nova launcher to replace the stock, deleted most of the bloatware apps and currently 270 apps installed including games, social apps, office apps etc.. i use it mainly to read ebooks, powerpoint and a lot of other materials, play games about 3hrs per day and heavy sms and some calls.. The 512 mb ram is sufficient for me, the 1800mAh battery can get me up the whole day with 30% left before charging. Camera is average, 5mpxl from sony can beat our 8mpxl in clarity and contrast. But one thing i love about this IDOL is the screen, it is absolutely gorgeous and in my opinion comes close to the iphone 5 but galaxy s4's screen is too good compared to idol. Nope, you weren't duped. The specs says it has 4G internal memory and you are only seeing technically 2G, it is because of the manufacturer bloated ware, those apps that pre installed in the unit.

The phone is good, very light and nice to hold. Battery life is average, you can make it through the day without heavy gaming or video watching, sound during calls is good, no problems there. GPU is average, you can play most games ( i tried gta vc, carmageddon, shadowgun) but some heavier stuff, ( dungeon hunter 4, real racing 3 ) will be choppy sometimes, but still playable. (DH4 on low settings plays fine). Camera also average quality, but otherwise very snappy and fast. No UI lag, 4.1 runs smooth, installed a bunch of apps and it's still smooth, but twice it rebooted on me while browsing with chrome. probably the rom, can't wait for custom roms!

Personally after more than two weeks of using this phone there are few complain I wanna make. 1. It is very hard to capture sharp images with the camera. You need to hold the phone steady to autofocus, then hit the button to capture the photo which could by then make your phone move a little and out of focus. 2. Some of my contact's name do not appear in the notification, only the numbers appear. 3. Sometimes it will prompt "Battery temperature is too high." So I normally charge the phone while it is turned off.

Yes, plus the 1gb ram vs 512mb ram for the scribe easy made the choice easier. But if it were a choice between the idol ultra versus the scribe hd, i would've chosen the scribe hd even if the srp for the scribe hd is lower.

OT Scribe in the sun shop is NOT the HD version. I think it is the scribe easy. Personally I chose the idol over that one since I find Scribe's size too big and the screen resolution is poor for the size WVGA on a 5" screen vs a qHD resolution on a 4.7" screen. Also, srp-wise, the idol retails for P12k, while the scribe easy is only at P9k.

You are correct. It is this phone and not the ultra that is featured in the movie. Previous posters, the phone has 1gb ram. The pics look good. The flash works nicely for night shots. The back cover can't be removed though. Not sure what the back cover is made of, but the phone is really light... but the built is good (is not flimsy).

Yeah I got the silver. The one featured in the Iron Man 3 movie. I went to the office with a fully charged OT Idol from 9am. Went home at 8pm with 51% on normal use, no calls or games. I suggest turning the unit off while charging as it becomes hot with other apps running in the back ground. I ordered a clear hard case on eBay. Still can't find any here in the Philippines.

I just got this phone last week as loyalty phone from my Plan, been using it for 5 days now. It uses micro SIM which cost me extra to convert from my old SIM. The screen is beautiful, good thing I chose One Touch Idol over One Touch Scribe which falls under the same plan from my carrier. Battery drains fast about 10% every 2 hours on normal use (not stand by). I do not like the earphone that comes with it, does not hold very well in any ear (even in my sister's ear). Played IronMan 3 and it has a decent speed, but the game crashes every time I play again.
