You pay for what you get. Pros: Cheap, Good Battery Life, Comes with a Protective flip case & USB Charger Cons: Slow, Poor Camera, Overheats quickly when using 3g/Wifi apps. It's alright. It's a cheap but good quality phone. The lcd screen is not very bright nor does it have any stunning colors but it does have a high dpi, making documents or web surfing, visually, alright. It ain't fast but I can make phone calls, listen to music, radio is quite good, integrated music player ok. About GPS: yes, it's slow to lock on sattelites due to poor antena placement and, perhaps, sizing/shaping/tuning. But it works. It just needs a really clear view of the sky. Battery: this phone can eat a battery each 3-4 hours. I need an extended pack... light/regular usage drains the battery in two days or less. I'd like a 10Ah battery on it... Front facing camera is pure crap. Insensitive, noisy and very low resolution. Yet, teh main camera is above averege. The firmware is open source. Anybody can check it out and, if there is the patience and knowledge... you get my drift? Want 4.4? Built it. P.s. funny stuff: holding home and vol+ (if i remember correctly) for quite a few seconds, hard-locks the touchscreen. Unlocking is done by repeating the procedure.

Hello I bought the phone in Macedonia 'ONE', the phone has many problems, such as, Abnormal heating for one minute surf the internet or facebook then stiff the phone, getting a GPS signal after 10 to 15 minutes and then turns off, sd memory works 2 - 3 days then tells me that the card is corrupted, the other phone is operating normally, every week I have to do a factory reset. When I'm out from Macedonia roaming the phone says that the SIM card is not eligible for roaming when you put it in another phone works normally. I sent the service said they had changed the software and the phone was fine, phone software not changed, when switched my e-mail on facebook and playstore you were automatically entered does not change anything and told me that if I wanted a better phone commensurate to pick up HTC or Samsung and Alcatel that it was normal, however I do not know whether to send the service or is it normal for Alcatel x `pop .... thank you

Thats phone is great ...and i am one that the only specs i accept to a phone are the specs of a Xperia or note 3 ....but this phone has a low price and has a good perfomance if you know how use it... Facebook is slow on everyphone not just on x pop i recomend that you download a version of facebook from apptoide market and be sure that is secure.... those applications are faster than the current version from play store ...

if you want to significantly increase the speed of your phone - root. - install antutu cpu master and set i/o scheduller to DEADLINE and Cpu governor to HYBRID, - install nova launcher and your problems will dissapear. without all these the phone is misserable...almost unusable. but after this it will be decent. a downgrade to ICS or a custom rom + custom kernel would make it flawless. i hope some developers will start to work it out.

Ahmm i reccomend you on buyin xpop. Im a user of xpop since last year and I have no problem with it except for low memory when playing games . mine can last 3 hours while playin music using wifi and chattin on facebook. And when im textin all day it can last for 5 hours.

I'll root my X'Pop and install Kitkat, but from now on I think I'll pass any new Alcatel device, because ot pisses me off that thay desided not to put Kitkat update. In IT one MUST be in touch with new things, not steping back! They could make update and if someone doesn't want to risk with Kitkat on this configuration, one may not install update. Very bad move from Alcatel, and I just thought they came back on the good path :-/ I'll go Note 3 as soon as I can :-)

I can't allow apps to work in background bec it makes the phone unusable. I even uninstall several apps bec the ram reaches 95% usage. (4)not compatible with standard earphone/ headsets. I bought my sapphire 2 last may 2013 and I just pull the cord of the charger, after that, i cant charge it anymore. I reported it immediately (june 2013) . They said I come back after 2 weeks, but when I come back, they told me that the motherboard is broken and it was not covered by the warranty. Well, its alright if we will pay the additional charge for the motherboard. But they're selling it for 80% of the phone's original price. How pathetic. Dont buy it, after sale service is poor and until now, october 27,2013.,, I dont get my phone from them. Poor service I swear. This is based on my experience

don't buy it. with everyday it seem worse and worse. android update helped a little but after it battery life get down (0,5h of webbrowsing on 3g cost more than 20% of battery?!). moreover it gets hot, almost always loosing signal od 2nd sim and incorrect touch sensing while charging. maybe its my pocket but while geting ringing phone out of pocket it ofen touch-sense i want to send an sms rather than take a call. once again - don't buy it

I have this phone for over a month and I can't complain of anything except for the GPS. It doesn't locate any satelites and I don't know how to make use of it.With the app 'go battery saver' my phone lasts up to 4 1/2 days, so do install it. Another issue is that the display has a dead pixel, which bothers me a bit but it's still in warranty. I hope it can be fixed.

My X'pop shows an overheating alert. the battery life drops drastically, when is plugged to the current it also works incorrectly. I left it in the repair shop, they told me I have to wait five days, let's hope they can find a solution.

Guys , am very confused.. between Xpop and star.. They r the same in everything.. "almost" Except in two issues .. Battery and internal memory .. Star has a nice internal memory 2.5 GB .. but X'Pop has 1 GB .. Star's battery is lower than average between phones,, but X'pop has a nice battery for (average using.. not a very heavy user).. For me .. this is my first experience with smartphones .. and i know that most smartphones heat up and their batteries go off quickly by time .. My Usage will be .. web surfing and chattin.. no games at all .. not watching many vidz on youtube .. and ofcourse ,, some songs for fun and maybe some lecture or books in pdf format,, !! I am going to use 8 or 16 GB SD card .. and the internal memory is 1 GB ,, chattin apps will be whatsapp, viber and chaton or maybe LIne and wechat.. and maybe a dictionary or a translator .. and ofcourse app to save the battery and organize the memory and organize my apps SO In ur point of view.. shall i go for X'Pop or Star ?? any help !!

I have just bought one of these at dicksmith in Australia, and been using it for a while. (After my S3 screen broke in pieces after a drop). After using it for a week, I must say that this is a good phone if you are a basic user. Basic means, making phone calls/text, listening to music, using internet for surfing, youtube, facebookt etc. It has a good size screen (4.5inch) and the video quality was surprisingly good when you are looking on youtube. Music sound is not excellent, but because there is a sound equalizer, you can adjust the sounds to your taste. Only things are; battery life is basic (lasts for one day and will be 0% at the end of the day), although camera is 5MP the picture quality is poor so don't expect iphone or samsung galaxy's camera function on this phone. (Use your digital camera because its not really useful when the quality is so bad). Playing games is a ease, however the RAM is only 512MB so you have to keep erasing the apps not been used, to clear and make space on RAM. Call quality is good, menu layout and the setting is basic and is easy to use. Overall I felt this alcatel phone is user-friendly and well thought through. Desing is basic, but feels good on your hand and sturdy, the back cover is soft-to-touch so its quite comfortable to hold. It also gives you a break from samsung galaxy and iphones which it seems everyone is using! It was a nice change! Final words, I am looking forward to using this phone for the next couple of years and hopefully it will last long as its a nice phone. Thanks for reading :)

i just got that phone about a week ago .. and here is what im gonna say about it : shape and weight and size are so neat for me sound quality through speaker is awesome and loud .. but through earphones isn't so loud .. but so clean .. and i could fix that by getting a better earphone than the stock one .. the screen is perfect .. its really dragon trail glass with ole-phobic coating and very scratch resisting but there is something about the screen .. at certain degrees of brightness you can clearly see waves going from the bottom to the top of the screen but they don't really disturb me .. the battery life is fair .. not so long though but ok .. it can go for a full day .. with wifi and music and all .. its ram is kinda low .. but if you clear the cashed processes regularly and the running apps that you don't you .. it will run as smooth as you with at the end .. for its price .. its a great phone .. don't hesitate to buy it

re the volume problem when using headphones, did try that trick with dialing the engineering number and adjusted headphones to 160 max. Well did work to some extent, its better than before, but Vol still drops quite a bit when plugging in headphones. Alcatel designers must have been pissed, when they designed that! There is another solution, there is an app called Audio Boost, now that works really well if sound is low- increases it by quite a large amount! Only irritating thing has to be switched on and off manually.

try to update if it works coz i have no issues regarding loss signal while charging when i bought it. regarding battery, almost all manufacturers like sony xperia, lg, samsung,htc et.al when u browse the user's guide they recommend to fully charge it for the first time and frequently to increase battery efficiency, please try to read user's guide if u have time, i charge my phone once or twice a day coz im a heavy internet nut. use mx player coz it support wide range of video formats. mine can play 720p and 1080p without noticeable lags, just deactivate some apps to play full hd smoothly. ive experienced data loss when plug in to pc via usb, if that happen just restart ur phone and repeat it. by the way im from Philippines.

its camera has an excellent output, it also support HDR capabilities. u can use rear and front camera to capture images however it doesn't support HDR on videos its only on cam. front camera is not so good as told by somebody else? nope it isn't, compared to other phones this phone has a qHD resolution the more resolution the move blurry images it make, just an analogy try to imagine if you put a small image specifically VGA to a high resolution phone, the output is too bad if u try to stretch the image, got it?. max vid is 720p@30fps. it doesn't have led notifications. yes, the back really heats whenever u play heavy games and its pretty normal to some android phones.

I bought this phone a few months ago. Thought it would be a good phone. Now I'm not so sure. Every few days when I try to use the phone pressing (touching) the apps does nothing. Only way to resolve this is to remove the battery and then restart the phone. Just turning the phone off/on doesn't help, I have to remove the battery. Yesterday I had the phone on charge for a couple of hours. Message on screen 0nly 3% charge left connect to a charger. Same thing, remove the battery, restart the phone and bingo the battery has plenty of charge. When the phone is off the charger it periodically dings, no missed calls, no messages nothing just an annoying ding. Finally even though I've got plenty of internet allowance I can't get an internet connection.

Had the same problem another used mentioned. Phone does freeze at times and only way to cure it is to remove and re-insert battery.Its a real pain! Most irritating item though is the earphone, not sure if its designed to do this but when using earphone the volume is cut to about half and some MP3s I can hardly hear.If its designed to do this, very stupid and probably the worst aspect of this phone. But apart from the above negative points, its a good phone for the price!

I've just bought it and it's pretty good. Despite the comments about its battery, if you use it correctly and delete all the unnecessary background applications, you can use it up to 24 hours. And the brightness to the lowest is still bright xD only one drawback, although I'm not sure if it's the phone or my wifi, wifi is lagging and not stable.

I think 4.1.1 has this, i think new, keypad set up. The android keyboard. It has wider and bigger characters, like iPhone. Go to settings-language and input - select Android keyboard. You just need to manually set it on your own choice.

As a complement on my initial comment, it seems that the problems I mentioned were all due to a problem with application launcher. I downloaded an alternative one and replaced Android's original one and now both problems are resolved. So probablynot as bad as I thought in the begining!

And the 4.5 screen works superb especially when watching online movies. The battery life is good enough.. I switched off feedbacks, haptic and adjust the screen brightness from 30 to 40. I imagine the processor is the MTK6577. If so, here's to hoping for a dual sim version with 1GB or ram. that would make it a cheaper variant to the 997d. With android 4.1 and a qHD 4.5inch display why are there no on screen buttons?
