Very nice phone. Love it. Some problems have occured, like once it turned itself off and stopped working and the other time the battery indicator was lying. Also, 2MB is a bit little. But overall I love it. Too bad that most of the ringtones, logos and games are only for Nokia phones in my country, not much support Alcatel. :( Also, I still cannot download the PC Suite, because I have trouble accessing the home page. Does anyone know any alternative? Thanks. :)

I am still having the issue with the sound. I installed the software provided by Alcatel to transfer informations between the phone and the computer. The link is It'a a 70Mega rar file and you need a infrared device (built in computer or USB IRDA). Check to be sure the IRDA device is supporting this phone model. Not all the USB IRDA are working with this phone.

Well I bought it for only 45 dollars and it is great... Good picture quality, nice options, great battery... The only problem I see is the limited memory (2MB).. but still you can save like 30 pictures in 640*580 quality... not that bad. :)

Yeah this fone is good,comparared with sony ericssonT630,its much better coz the only thing it doesnt have is bluetooth.infrared works perfectly.You can also download video clips from other fone brands.its a bomb compared to other fone brands

I bought this phone few mounths ago based on the reviews from this "user reviews" and I am sorry I bought it. I AM NOT THE ONLY ONE WITH THIS PROBLEMS! This "phone" suddenly turns the sound off, depending of his mood, maybe when you are speaking to others or wheather you are listening to others. It happened many times to me and another friend of mine which has the same phone. Another issue I had one time was the battery status indicator was showing an empty battery althought the baterry was fully charged. After a "reset" the indicator was back to reality. My opinion, if you consider to buy this phone good luck! I had't! I'll go back to Orange to see what they can do for me.

Can't YOU read, Morien??!! The OT556 User's Manual says that it DOES support MP3 (at least the spanish version, page 79). Besides, I have tried to beam unsupported files and they are rejected before the beam process. In the case of MP3, they are received but the 'wrong format' message appears AFTER beaming. This is why I think that there may be some kind of MP3 support.

Hi, does anybody know if this phone REALLY supports mp3 files? I have tried beaming from my Palm (a method that was successfull with mmf and other files) but with mp3 the phone says 'format no recognized' (or something similar) after the beam process. BTW, I used mono, low bitrate files. Thanks

To download Java Loader you must register to Alcatel One Touch Ahead Program (Search in google to find the link...registration is free) Then you go to the left menu and select JAVA and enjoy. One of the most interesting things there beside Java Loader is Java emulator. You can try any java game or aplication on pc before you upload it to your phone :)...One more thing: If you get get that version error in Java Loader read my previous posts...And the last thing: this phone does support wav files (8bit)

hi every body.. although the phone's specification which's launched in the alcatel's official web page differes a little bit from reality...may be this's due to each country's specifications (the zoom is only 4 instead of 6 and the phone does'nt support the wav files and there's infra which supports pic and video althoug it's not mentioned in the alcatel's web....but after comparing this phone with other rivales , and buying this phone and trying it....taking the price factor into consideration...it's the best ever u can buy if u r not rich! I did it...It works but you have to modify in registry HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Alcatel\One Touch PC Suite 3\Content Manager and in "Version" type the version of the Loader(in my case was 3.36)

I downloaded the JavaLoader but when i try to update Content Manager it says "This Release of JavaLoader is not compatible with the installed ContentManager". I have ver 3.37 (last) and Java Loader is 3.36 (last???). That's plain stupid.

I have this phone, and it is very good, but the memory is NOT enough. So, you should buy an USB IRDA to send photos and memos to your computer. It has 3 clips, many polyphonic sounds, voice commands, memos, and other... This is a very good phone, but think about the memory... :D

I`ve just bought it and yhink that this is very good phone, a lot better than ot 735. The quality of sound is amazing(maybe for me. I didn`t have many opportunities to test such kind of phones)There is one bug: the battery cover. I can`t take it off(in some cases it could be an advantage:)) And I do not know way, but recharging is very slowly(if compare to Motorola V500 or Alc OT735) So this is all for now, mayby in a few next days i will write again

I forgot to say that the conection with my computer works perfect with infrared port. So i can send a lot of photos and sounds it my phone, and i can send tha photos taken with the phone to the computer. The software, Alcatel PC Suite v3, is really helpfull and works perfectly. maybe this informations will be helpfull for those who are planning to buy Alcatel 556, or the one with a different design, but the same features, 565.

i bought Alcatel 565 from Vodafone and it has the same features like this one,556. So i think they are the same, only that 565 it is only for Vodafone. I am very pleased with it, the camera can be adapted to various conditions, and with different quality steps, the ringtones are loud and clear. A lot of possibilities to personalise the phone. Only i was expecting more from the baterry. For the price i payed for it, it is the best phone ever.
