alcatel Pop 4+ - User Reviews

  • This phone lives so long , Almost 3.5 years and the only problem is the battery , it needs to be replaced . Nice Alcatel device

  • i already have this hand sit and i sundries this mobile work .fair

  • this phone turned out to be the longest running phone i have ever owned.going on three years now.the first one's battery died, and i had to ship it to new mexico for a replacement battery.after the battery replacement-(9 months) it has run perfectly for over two years now.i am still impressed. a+++

  • no

  • Camera could have definitely been better to be completely honest.

  • I'm using this phone more than 2 years. And it still runs perfectly. Turns out I'm using it longer than any phone i ever had. I'm reading comments below and i can't relate to any of this issues.

  • Damn

  • Turn off location then turn on seems to fix the issue. But is a temporary one. Better have a warrant fix / replacement.

  • I bought it as a cheapie to mount semi-permanently in my car. It is used mainly as a music source via DAC and for GPS/SatNav duties. It has proven capable and reliable in this setting. I have also used it as a regular mobile for short periods, and would describe it as a decent offering in the budget smartphone market. I find the screen is surprisingly good - bright and with vivid colours it is perfect for my intended use. It is also my first long term 5.5" and I am enjoying the extra real estate. In terms of performance, it is a lot more responsive than the Pixi it replaced. It boots faster, apps load significantly faster and multitasking is actually feasible. The difference is much greater than the specs alone would suggest. ( 4x1.1ghz / 1.5Gb vs 4x1.0Ghz / 1Gb ) This is not my primary mobile and in a different league altogether to my everyday S7 so it is not fair to make comparisons. I will say though, that you could buy 4 or maybe 5 of these for the price of an S7 down here in Oz! If you're looking for a "upper-end-budget" handset you would not be not wasting your time considering the Pop 4+ but you may be wasting some cash if you don't...

  • I never enjoyed this phone. Bought it about end of 2016 and within 4 months the screen started drawing lines. It never fell down or got wet. It progressively worsened. Now some apps won't display. Not a phone to recommend from my personal experience.

  • i have found using the default file manager kills the battery if you give it permission only way i have found DONT Use it just install another file manager doing a factory reset will fix it. as well you get spammed with adds pretty crap for a default app

  • Ever heard the adage: Where you have nothing positive to say, best to keep quiet. It's no wonder that you have opted to be anonymous. I'm chuffed to bits with mine! It's you an people like you that make a mockery of such forums as these. Sincerely (or ought I write 'Faithfully', since you chose to be anonymous) , Jonathan Richard FLETCHER

  • Terrible even if it is a low price of $50. Has anyone noticed that the processor in this phone was 9 years old when this came out! I could get a phone from Lg that's better for a little higher price. You could even get a phone from umidigi or some other company in the east that's way way better.

  • Absolutely the worst phone I have ever used. Even considering the low cost, it really is awful. Terrible screen response. Bloatware is constantly being pushed on the OS, which means reverting a few apps to default every few days. Cant figure out how to stop it. Speaker is awful and has a terrible placement. The call quality is pretty bad too. It feels so cheap. Instead of wasting €90 on this phone, do yourself a favour and get a Xiaomi, Meizu, LeEco etc. from China unlocked and with higher specifications and less bloatware. Worth waiting a few weeks for instead of tearing out your hair over this phone.

  • Been using this phone for about a year. Its a good phone except its GPS. The signal will goes on & off whenever I use it with Google Maps or Waze. Anybody experienced the same problem as me & know how to solve this issue?

  • is this mobile wohterprof

  • Yes

  • My pop4 update is not working downloaded over n over but it wouldn't install it checks but still ask u to download again what's da prob really need some help n my dive is hot when I'm browsing what's really wrong tell me sooomthing??

  • Does this phone have a Notification LED light on the front of the phone telling you have a missed call and SMS Text or just the front flash LED? - does an LED light light up when you are charging the phone?

  • for those saying poor battery life , I have just been reading up on IPS display Vs AMOLED and it seems phones with IPS display can use up to 15% more power than an AMOLED display, so if you are looking for better battery stamina in a mobile phone you should really be looking at buying a phone with a AMOLED or Super-AMOLED .. I think most Samsung handsets use Super AMOLED in their devices.

  • I want to buy alcatel pop4 plus.... by reading specification like battery, camera, I like this phone as it is in a reasonable range. How is this phone if we rate is out of 5.

  • I got this phone from a friend who came with from Germany. i really enjoy using it and i would recommend it to any one who want a good phone. The sound is clear and picture are just fantastic

  • I got this phone for 50 US Dollars last November black friday sale from bestbuy. I used it in colombia with a colombian cellular moviestar when I travel there with my wife when we visit her family. The phone works fine with data or wifi. I have used it in london paris bruges and amsterdam with hotel wifi. I have not had restart problems. The camera is not as good as my galaxy s5, but the camera is good in my experience. I purchased another on for 83 us dollars for my wife's nephew who will be attending a US university for 6 months. He didn't have a cell in colombia but with this dual sim cell phone he is using it in colombia and will be able to put a tracfone simcard or other here in us. I recommended this phone 2 a colombian women who visits the US often . She was having problems with her iphone 5. She was not happy with the pop4plus and she ended up getting a new iphone and gave the pop4plus to her husband. The full price of the pop4plus is overpriced at over 100 us dollars. There are better phones for 50 like the cricket coolpad canvas with better specs currently on sale at bestbuy for 40 us dollars. Use that phone 6 months with cricket service then the will unlocked it free whereby you can use it anywhere that has GSM srevice. If you can get the phone for 50 dollars and need it unlocked for immediate travel then I would buy.

  • Listen to yourself in the earpiece ,means a bad signal from your new operator, because they have poor coverage for the network, so you hear yourself talking. The phone is ok

  • I have been used my Alcatel pop4 since 8 months, I changed my phone carrier, first I had rebooting problem s and I got a new sim and this worked, now I cannot talk for more than 5secs. The other person cannot hear me, but I hear myself in the earpiece. Not sure what I need to do

  • Ade - Random reboots is an issue according to Alcatel. According to them it is a hardware issue. And as per my experience it seems to be location related as there are places where it constantly reboots by itself. I suggest you call Alcatel support and get a replacement. My replacement handset which I've already had for four months had no random reboots so far,

  • li -ion batteries work better when you are not used to the end 0%,but most to 25 % and then put the battery to charge75-90% , ( why?) lithium-ion batteries have a rated lifetime of somewhere between 500 and 1,500 charge cycles. so if it reach 100% or less then 25% then it lose 1 cycle.(the user runs it down all the way to zero before recharging) can degrade to 70 percent of its original capacity in 300-500 cycles With a DoD of 25 percent, where the user plugs it in as soon as it gets to 75 percent remain, that same battery could be charged up to 2,500 times before it starts to seriously degrade. Charge a little bit whenever you can. Lithium-ion batteries don't respond well to being charged all the way up and then run all the way down. They take much better to little bits of charge here and there. What's far more dangerous to a battery's well-being is heat. Lithium-ion batteries despise heat. Battery consumption depends on the applications you have installed on the phone and working in the background even if you do not use the phone. such as; facebook, instagram, messenger so if you delete these apps and use them through the browser , thus saving up to 40% of the battery (day)life , the display put on minimum brightness and wi - fi, bluetooth,3G use it when you need. for random restarts the phone you could do ''factory data reset'' to solve that problem but If does not help then go to play store to download '' st - ubb- orn tro- jan ki - ller '' (blue icon with a horse head) - run and ki ll the tro - jan's and after will work as new.

  • After 5 months, the USB port is wiggling - it becomes very tricky to make sure the phone charges. Battery life is now half what it used to be. Camera is rubbish. YOu can;t even do a 360 degree pano. Random restarts as well. But I paid only $50 for it so can;t really complain :(

  • The problems I encountered with this phone was the battery.. It does not last longer, camera quality... It sometime freeze. As for the internet speed is OK.. Pls do work on your picture quality and also battery too... I think someday you will over come all phones... I bought it 3 months ago.

  • can't connect wifi any help

  • iam using alcatel pop 4 plus for a 4 month.. one day it fall from my hand, its about 1meter height..the display was compleately broken... i never get a spare display from my country...at last i realize that "i lost my money to buy this phone"

  • sleep mode is smart option to save battery

  • Phone problem after 8 months use -Sometimes it restart when try to make call -when using Headphone volume is bad low and not clear change many headset the same result . Comparing with other phones the problem Is from the phone not headset -Front flash is useless Illumination is low -Battery drain fast -Network problem sometimes gives no network while other phone having a good network -Sometimes it automatically select EDGE while 4G is available and stay a long time until it switch to 4g

  • It's 267 PPI, not bad, but not the best! Considering buying one as the tablet I have is waaaaay outdated and has a 165 PPI screen... Lmao

  • Just bought it one month ago, everything works fine...ecept one thing. It keeps disconnecting from wifi in sleep mode over night. Option for keep wifi on in sleep mode is on always, so that cant be the problem i guess. I just hope for an update which will solve this.

  • I bought this phone 4 mounth ago and i got to say for it's price this is a pretty good phone.I have facebook, messenger, whatsapp, snapchat, instagram and bunch of more smaller apps instald on it and it handles it decende.I also played some games on it like wot blitz, front line comando, dead triger, asphalt xtreme, sniper fury on it whit no problem, gangstar vegas and six guns whit little bit of lag,and for some reson games brothers in arms and modern combat 5 frezze ass soon ass you start to play.Camera is pretty decend ass well especilly the front cuse its got wide angle and flash (great for selfies),everithing else work decende keep in mind this is a buget phone and if you are looking to buy a phone whit in this buget i whould recomend this phone.Sorry about my English,I'm frome Europe.

  • I think there is something wrong with the ppi, I mean 720p at 5.5 inches does not equal 401ppi

  • Do you expect the bezels of a mi mix on a budget phone? In ten years maybe, but obviously not now.

  • Don't you realise this is a budget phone priced under €100. Do you seriously expect an sad 825? Plus it doesn't matter how big the screen is, it's the resolution that matters.

  • There probably won't be an android 7.0 update as this is a budget phone. And you shouldn't usually expect software updates from budget phones.

  • for better battery performance , that is not empty less than 25%, and charging up to 90%

  • I am deeply bought this phone a few days ago but it giving me battery problem.. I charged it to it maximum level but it keeps going low.. Charged it twice a day.. Why is it..

  • Can somebody suggest me this phone?, Why should I buy it?, and why should I don't?

  • Now you know, root your phone it is a bad idea because it means you've opened the door to viruses, but now the phone is infected and the virus is taking over your phone. so go to the play store and download , st u bb orn tr oj an ki ll er , because it is the only solution for you to get rid of the infection

  • So, this phone turned off alone. I thought I turned it off accidently, pressed power button, then it showed me "Deleting" message, I quickly removed SD card, just to be sure it won't anything from there. when he finally tuned on, it was rooted. I lost all data from phone. I've put SD card in, but all, literally all data was deleted from there too. Anyone else have those problems, formating by itself?

  • Does any one now if there is going to be a android 7.0 or 7.0.1 update, relese???

  • Mini sim is too large for Pop 4+; it uses Micro sim. You can purchase a new micro sim from your cellphone provider store or resize Mini sim down to Micro sim size yourself. Google the information. I went to T-Mobile store and was told to pay $20 for a new micro sim because they don't resize mini sim. So I looked up how to do from a webpage and i did it with a pair of very sharp scissor.

  • Get a replacement micro-sim from your cellular provider or purchase a sim cutter (or follow a guide on manually cutting your sim card).

  • Normal GSM sim not input due to size in big. How can I do?

  • thx man for help. i send mail to alcatel and they replied the device doesnt support otg thx again for ur time

  • I regret I do not own this model, and in specification does not support OTG, but that does not mean that do not support OTG, because I have an old model Alcatel pop c7 and also not in the specification that supports OTG but it works, so try and put your otg in the micro USB port and see if it worked, whether they are prepared for connection and if yes, then unlock the screen now need to write external USB storage ready, and asks, do you want to change the default storage? YES, and now is connected. In my previous comment suggested I''poweramp'' whether this application is for a period of 2 weeks, and after this period it is not workable, because it seeks to pay, but if you want i can send to you via mail ''unlocker'' for you to use it for free. Greetings and I hope I helped you.

  • thx for replay man do you know how to mount otg?

  • you need a quality earphnoes , also try with ''poweramp'' app

  • 31.8% screen-to-body ratio lol!

  • plz any body know how to mount otg? and the earphnoes volume is too low

  • Where can you find the software update? I couldn't find any updates on the phone. It said it is up to date.

  • Check for a software update. I read that they fixed this issue with a recent update.

  • I'm having the same issue of rebooting. I'm thinking of returning the phone. It keeps saying Sims card in slot two not available.

  • Can anyone help me out? I just got this phone few days ago, I noticed when am at a place where service is low,it reboots itself many times. So,I decided to turn it off anytime I am going to places like that. Can anyone help?

  • For Black Friday bought this phone for $49.99. For the price it is great.

  • Yes it is. I asked at Digicel and they confirmed it. It's also called the Alcatel 5056a.

  • My phone stopped in alcatel logo. :( And I don't found firmware for it. how can I solve it plz :( . thanks

  • can i put bulgarian langiage on this phone?

  • Maybe so :)

  • is this the same phone that digicel use the dl1plus?

  • Very good phone for its price. Hate the UI though, maybe its the marshallow.

  • this is excellent set

  • Nice phone under US$ 130 more features good camera front and back, sound etc only disadvantage i felt is under this model where mentioned on ALCATEL official website model having OTG ie;USB Host but no this mobile doesn't have that feature apart from that Pop plus is OK but unfortunately customers will think twice whether they will going to purchase alcatel

  • For a 5.5" screen smartphone, the battery size of 2500 mAh is rather small. You are better off getting the Oukitel K6000 Pro or K10000.

  • do root to make a brick, but, without crying

  • anyone found a way to root this phone ?

  • go for iphone ,and take 800 dollars in order to satisfy

  • want to throw some money u can buy this phone and sure you will throw

  • Fantastic phone... I'm loving it, nicer than other phones

  • Very very worst phone. . . . pls dont buy it.

  • its good phone in this Price.. i've experienced griping phone (Y)

  • its good device in this price .

  • Nice phone , Alcatel offering good device in this price . (Y)

  • Agree. For 5.5" phones a 400 series SD is a minimum, even a 4.5" Moto E 2nd Gen has a 410 SD CPU. Check out ZTE Grand X 3. Excellent 5.5" screen but paired with a slow I mean slow SD 210 CPU. Luckly my father only uses it for making phone calls and occasionally browsing. Say no SD 210 chips.

  • Procesor SD 210 wyświetla max 1280x720.

  • What will you do from a SD 210 processor with today's demands?!
