Apple iPad Pro 12.9 (2017) - User Reviews

  • As an Android only user for phones, I decided to grab one of these for work purposes rather than a Surface Pro so I could simplify my work process (I also have a Windows laptop so if needed I can use that) But I have to say, this thing functions incredibly. Very fast, great multitasking and great battery; speakers are AMAZING. On the downside, the screen is a bit washy and cheap despite the great resolution - it doesn't feel like IPS - and iOS is just really constricting compared to Android. There's so many simple things you CAN'T do without having to tinker with the device. Anyhow, for work purposes with an Apple Pencil, this thing really is a great piece of tech, and it runs much faster than other portable Apple products I've used.

  • Could you add screen brightness in cd/m^2, please?

  • Funnily enough, that recycled garbage beats devices 2 years newer which are in the same price region as the recycled garbage was at its release.

  • Recycles? Lol People, have you ever read about these processors? A10X Fusion cpu? A10 Fusion has 4 cores. It is used in iPhone 7 series. A10X Fusion has 6 cores. It is used in iPad Pro series Its a different CPU's. Amateurs.

  • The memory thing is all about money bottom line app is a good product but stable platform works well with lots of apps and they know it and that’s why they charge as much as I do if you don’t like it we have other options

  • LOL! Where's your proof that apple recycles the processor from their previous device and places them onto the new ipad and sells it at a cost of £1000?

  • because its a pile of garbage and apple just recycles the processors from their previous devices and sells them for £1000

  • Similar to android. Why do you need a 512GB of internal storage? If ipad can have 512GB of internal storage. Why android shouldn't be? Especially if both device can store a lot of things without any necessity of having a microSD card?

  • - dedicated memory slot: this thing can have 512 GB, why do you need this - IR: do you still use this to transfer data? Or do you want to point this enormous thing at your TV and use it as a remote - complete Wifi: what does that mean, it has Wifi - recording rds: never heard of that, never missed it either, what in the world is that? - USB 3.1: don't know if you will notice a difference to 3.0, but that is really such a minor thing, and it will probably be included in the next gen - OTG: it actually has OTG, you just need an apple certified accessory Sorry but your arguments aren't really fitting

  • Why there is no Information about CPU and GPU?

  • Thanks dearest friends for your mentioning. Yes,I have forgotten to write missing of Bluetooth 5.1+its auxiliaries !However this tablet is unique with other superior qualities which is unacceptable to the second class and the third class of deprived disadvantaged unprivileged people ! Anyway it is very unique for the rich VIP that can even order it decorated with diamond and gold . It is very luxurious but helping the economy of makers on the other hands .Congratulations to haves to enjoy it.In Justice Rights moral guidelines criticize means helping for construction of better and the best not never ever destruction by any means....Thanks all.

  • This could have been the best tablet for years with having a dedicated memory slot,IR,complete WiFi,radio + recording RDS,USB 3.1 +OTG....Though ultra expensive but very best for the VIP to enjoy it....Justice Rights even enjoys reading ,touching and testing these superior qualities according to the moral guidelines. Thanks gsmArena for releasing facts....

  • According to Ming Chi Kuo(one of the top apple analysts) the 2018 ipad pro's will come in 2 sizes: an 11 inch that will replace the 10.5 inch model and an updated 12.9 inch model. Both these new models will have thinner bezels and will have Face ID instead of touch ID. I'm a little disappointed that the bigger model will not have a bigger screen as I find my 2017 ipad pro 12.9 inch too small now. I would prefer a 14-15 inch near bezel less ipad instead. These are just predictions from him but they are probably accurate based on Ming Chi Kuo's stellar track record in predicting apple product releases.

  • Any news about 2018 edition?

  • Uhm.... If you buy the 4g-version, you can in fact also use it via Wi-Fi aswell...

  • IPad Pro 12.9 inches is amaizing ,beyond your imagination and easy to use.

  • I’m impresed feels a lot less restricting

  • Ipad Pro 12.9 2gen. Have 120Hz display!

  • Apple ipad pro 12.9 is very easy to use. It has many features and amazing programs and apps.. Apple ipad pro 12.9 display is good.

  • Apple ipad pro 12.9 is very easy to use. It has many features and amazing programs and apps.. Apple ipad pro 12.9 display is good.

  • I was excited to receive this IPAD when I first ordered it with it’s 256GB storage variant, Now after using it for a couple of months I cannot find enough words to praise this device which I now use far more extensively than my computer. The quality of the display is without parallel and provides a truly immersive experience. Perfect size also for reading like a book in bed. Storage for my purposes is adequate but do have a tinge of regret about not having purchased the 512GB version. Ease of use is exceptional. A “must have” device.

  • Yet no one can jailbreak the latest version...does sound a little more secure than the android counterpart

  • Lol hahah. M8 there have been wifi AND cellular models for years since the first one, there is a file manager and external storage is an obvious no-no for anybody concerned about device security. Embarrassing..

  • I agree with you, I had this ipad since the first day it came out and I now want a bigger size as well. I think the perfect size is 14-15 inches screen. I don't really mind the size and weight since if you use this long enough, your fingers will become stronger and it won't feel all that big and heavy after a while. If apple makes a near bezeless ipad pro like how they did with their recently announced iPhone X, they can probably fit a 14 inch screen in the same physical size as the current ipad pro 12.9.

  • after 1 month of usage. I would say. I love this 13" pad. its use is different from 10" tab. 13" pad can display ios apps at largest size possible. it is ultra clear and staggering. reading magazine, its width is closer to the original page width of a magazine. I wish for a even larger size pad now, 14" or larger. I did consider to return the 13" PAD to the store during the first 48hours of ownership, now changed completely. Take some time to adapt for a larger size pad, it's not for holding with hand and use. better stand the pad on a stand, or place flat on desk to use. sometimes, prefer to use a handy 10" tab. different time uses different devices for different needs.

  • no matter how great, big screen ipad is, over the years still missing: -no external storage -no file manager. always depend on itunes -there is 2 version, wifi or cellular. why they dont make wifi and cellular in one? i only give 2 stars!

  • is this a joke? if its too long get the 10.9 or 9.7 inch ipad pro's.

  • Awesome! :D

  • I used Dingtone and its sister application Talk u for call in ipad

  • have owned this one for around 18hours. i would say. 30.6cm is too long. it's not a joy to hold such thing on hand. even have thought to resell it at once. even place it on desktop to use, i still think it is too tall. future version should slightly reduce the height. the best way to use a pad is always the portrait mode. why landscape mode is not good. the onscreen keypad becomes too wide then. i wonder why ios doesn't provide smaller onscreen keypad like samsung does. the montion of fingers can be much reduced

  • i watch 4k 60fps without problem.

  • The Major Different from previous ipad pro is nah ipad pro 12.9 inch have a led flash with a bigger maximum memory

  • Yes it will be better for study and digital art because of the bigger screen. 12.9 inches vs 9.7 inches is a big difference. I never tried the tab s3 but I used to have the tab s2 which is very similar and the ipad pro 12.9 inch is simply much better just on the screen size alone. One thing to keep in mind is that the Samsung Galaxy tab s3 comes with a stylus built in while this ipad pro 12.9 inch requires you to buy the apple pencil accessory for an extra $100. So overall the ipad pro 12.9 inch will be more expensive than the tab s3. Samsung makes the best screens for mobile devices obviously because of their super amoled tech so the screen on the tab s3 is probably better but honestly I prefer the larger screen on this Ipad pro 12.9 inch since I feel that 9.7 inches is too small for digital art(you don't want to feel cramped when drawing). The ipad pro 12.9 inch has better tablet optimized apps than the tab s3 and the A10X CPU on the ipad smokes the snapdragon 820 CPU on the tab s3 as the snapdragon 820 is over a year old. Just get the ipad pro 12.9 inch if you can afford it since it is pricey as it is just a better device tbh. I've been using this 2017 ipad pro 12.9 inch for almost 3 weeks now and I absolutely love it, you won't regret getting this although you have to get used to the size initially.

  • Will this be better to use because of its stylus function than that of samsung tab 3? I just want to use it for study and for some digital art. I need some enlightenment. Thanks

  • Guys, can anyone tell me if the apple app store has a good ebook reader .. The reason why I am still with Androis is because of Moon Reader It is the best ebook reader in the world ( it can accomodate all ebook formats such as MOBI , PDF ect....) it even turn pages like the real book.. Does apple app store offer an App like Moon Reader Please I need your help on this... Thank you very much Team...

  • I just got this iPad today on the first day it came out, its HUGE lol but I like the size of it. Yes I'm a little disappointed it doesn't come with Bluetooth 5 but it's not a deal breaker for me honestly. The thing I'm disappointed with is that it doesn't come with a 29w USB type c power adaptor for fast charging, you have to purchase it separately. Other than that I'm pretty satisfied with this device so far.

  • Without Bluetooth 5? Not mine!

  • Wrong, I know because I've been using an ipad pro 9.7 inch as my primary phone for over a year. Yes if you call the number on the sim card on the ipad it won't work. I'm talking about using apps that allow you to create a local phone number and using data to make and receive calls using that number created by that app. I use fongo but it only allows you to create a Canadian number I think but I'm pretty sure there are other apps on that app store that allow you to create your own local number. Yes I wish apple allowed you to make phone calls natively directly on the ipad but they probably don't allow this feature because not many people are willing to use an ipad as a phone since it is probably too big for most people.

  • its an ipad. you cant make calls. cellular means sim can be used for data and not calls.

  • Oh I forgot one more thing, if you want to use the ipad pro 12.9 inch as a phone, you must buy the WiFi+Cellular version not the WiFi only version since you need data everywhere you go in order to make and receive calls.

  • I wouldn't recommend you to buy the 1st generation ipad pro 12.9 inch from 2015 since it is already over a year and a half old. It's still a beast of a tablet but why buy the older inferior product when you can get the newest ipad pro 12.9 inch from this year. I always buy my devices on the first day they come out.

  • Yes you can make calls with it, not traditional calls but through apps using data. I use an app called fongo that allows me to create a local phone number on the app so that I can make and receive calls using data. Another advantage of this is that data only plans are much cheaper than traditional smartphone plans. The call quality is mostly dependant on the quality of your LTE connection so if your connection is fine then you won't have problems, I would only recommend you to do this if you don't make a lot of calls like me. If you make a lot of calls I wouldn't recommend you to use an ipad as a phone since you need that reliable service. But most of the time I have no problem making calls on my ipad since my connection is usually good. Go search for apps on the app store that allow you to create a local phone number since I think fongo is Canada only number. I've been using fongo on my ipad pro 9.7 for over a year as my daily driver phone(yes I use a 9.7 inch phone lol). I just ordered this ipad pro 12.9 inch 2017 to upgrade to a 13 inch phone(don't laugh lol). I just use a mini Bluetooth earpiece to make and receive calls on the ipad since like others said there is no built in earpiece like a traditional phone. It's really awesome to use a 13 inch phone since you can replace both a smartphone and tablet with 1 device. I tried the 1st generation version of the ipad pro 12.9 inch for a short while and I really loved it, yes it is really big at first but you eventually get used to the size. I would highly recommend you to buy this 2nd generation ipad pro 12.9 inch

  • Oh, I didn't know. I'm pretty sure he meant the tablet itself had a earpiece but this also works out. Thanks for the info :)

  • 512 GB, now that's cool.

  • take my money apple!!!!!!

  • Actually. there IS a possibility of making calls out of it. if you got an iphone boundled in it. there's continuity. and if you want to hook your phone to the charger. and continue from the tablet. you can do it. as long the battery is not dead in the phone. same goes for the laptop and iMac. and the iPod touch. (LEL)

  • he didn't ask for a android comparison

  • It's a tablet, you can't make any calls on any device that doesn't have a ear speaker, which in this case, this iPad doesn't have it. Therefore, you can't make calls on this. Also, better a10x chip, 7mp front facing cameras, and software improvements.

  • Pls can you make or receive calls with the iPad Pro 12.9 2017...? What is the major difference between iPad Pro 12.9 2015 and iPad Pro 12.9 2017...?

  • Knowing it's the PRO 12.9. 4 gigs. that's equal to 8 gigs in android.

  • at least it has headphone jack :)

  • enough. it's iOS

  • Haa Haa Haaaa

  • how much of ram?
