I love this phone. The text messaging app has some things I dislike, especially since the Centro messaging was so similar, but better, and it's disappointing that this is a downgrade. A few replies: I also can't send or receive picture messages, or any media messages for that matter. I figured out that this is because I disabled data. My Pixi (not Pixi Plus) DOES have video capture and WiFi capabilities. I have no idea if these are because of some kind of updates. Just thought I'd add my two cents: my phone can do it.

uuh robyn john is correct WLAN is wifi and it clearly states in the specs that the pixi has no WLAN or wifi, thats 1 of the differences between this and the plus :)

Uhm, yes I know the day of the week. The Pixi Plus has wifi, the non Plus version does not. As I was discussing the Pixi (Not the Plus version), I stand by my statement regarding the lack of Wifi. As for my statements on the Video capability of the Pixi, when the Pixi was first released with WebOS 1.3, there was NO Video capture support. This feature was later enabled with the 1.4 Update. I included my comments about the Video because if you had read all the reviews posted..many of the first ones indicated no video. This was correct at the time, as WebOS 1.3 on the Pixi lacked this feature. Do you know what day it is Robyn?

I got the phone, loved it. Slim sleek, capable. The lack of wifi is a non issue for me, although i can see where it would be beneficial. As for the no video...this was a feature touted on palms site as well as sprints and the device was/is hardware capable...and the issue was corrected with a software update. The video is native MP4 640x480 ~30FPS. Although the video it shoots looks and sounds great, due to the quality and size, sending clips via picture mail is not an option. the non expandable 8GB is fine for me, I've put pics and video and mp3 and still have several gigs free. The WebOS interface is slick and its too bad it isn't more popular. It was very intuitive to use and didn't take more then a few synopsis firing to learn its usability. As for performance, it does lag a bit here and there, but then again, its a phone, and as such I'd say it performs better then you would expect from a device its size. Battery life could use some work though. All in all, its my fave device to date.

i dont see why do u need wifi for this phone? with sprint, you can only get this on a data plan... which means unlimited internet usage anytime, anywhere...

for the price that this device is gonna be going for im very disappointed not even wifi??? why leave wifi off?? only to make a pixi pro and add wifi?? that silly attempt of a marketing strategy is lame if you ask me just the wifi differentiates the pixi from the pixi pro..how ever the look is 100% im in love with it just 4 the look..there is better out there at better price however

palm this is not the time to introduce a phone which looks great but without wifi and limited storage capabilities. What are you thinking. The market needs good qwerty phones which is dominated by the mokia e71 and nokia e72 which runs on symbian which i hate or the blackberry which is a great phone but gets to be boring. It is a shame you are introducing such a phone when good qwerty phones are needed. I guess i will wait for the htc salsa or the htc trophy or the new sony ericson aspen. as one of the pioneers in this business what happened to you guys.

Shouldn't both the Pre and Pixi have their spec revised as the "PLUS" versions add to the original specs. Pixi now has WiFi as a example.

DESIGN The design of the Pixi is awsome. It's round shaped like an iPhone but it's thinner. A beautiful glossy finish on the front. In general, the hardware design is simple and clean. Furthermore, the phone looks amazing with the gesture touch-sensitive area. On this area there's a cool light which look like the light on Kid from the Knight Rider. You can swipe on this area to switch between different screens. For example if you want to go to the previous screen you just give it a back swipe. The keyboard looks also amazing. It's very clean and the buttons are decent separated. And when you push the buttons it gives you a click/push gratification. I give for the design a 9. FEATURES The phone works on WebOS, which is quite new. The OS is based on Linux, so you would expect nice animations and good looking icons. There's also an app store but since WebOS is quite new there's not many applications. But the applications are in the details developed, graphically and functionality. Which I adore. I'm for myself a Nokia user and I experience the apps on Nokia. In general the apps are working decent but it's not in the very detail developed, mainly graphics. And in my opinion the Nokia app store looks cheap. But that's not Nokia fault, since the apps are developed/designed by other different people. So this is not a major point. I'm not going to punish features of the Pixi because it lacks applications. But that's because WebOS is new and still in development. I expect in time that there are many apps available like apps on the iPhone. WebOS hasn't many apps but the apps are in the very detail developed which very adore. So an 8 for the features. PERFORMANCE This is where I will punish the Pixi. I think there are many lags on this phone. For example, lags in applications and lags in animations. And some programs - for example the MP3 app - need some time to load. What a shame. And this phone had a good first impression for me. Furthermore, it also lacks WiFi, what I really don't understand (Although, I only use 3G network for internet). Nowadays, it's a default feature on any smart phones. But for me the bottleneck as concern performance of this phone are the lags and the load times. So it's going to have a 5. What a shame. I can't wait for the Palm Pixi Plus.

The Palm Pixi is a good phone in general at first sight but it lacks WiFi and there are much lag on the phone during for example switching applications. I thought this was going to be my favorite phone but the phone isn't optimized yet. But soon the Palm Pixi Plus. And I must say there's a big major in differences. For example it has WiFi on it and there's not much lag anymore. And the WebOS functionality is so genius and amazing. So because Pixi is optimized now, this is my favorite phone. I recommend this phone. It will be released soon in the US 25 Januari. I hope also in Europe, with a decent (which I don't think so) price :(

HOW ON EARTH CAN NOKIA E72 SMASH PALM PIXI??? Do u know what u are talking about? Nokia E72 is a non-touchscreen phone, as opposed to Pixi. Therefore E72 is not a potential candidate to smash Pixi. These 2 devices are categorized differently. So don't be confused!

i just got this phone and it's awesome. the menus are easy and quick to move through, it's super thin and has a durable design. it sucks that it doesn't have video, but anybody complaining about the wifi, it doesn't even matter, the web browsing is super fast just with the 3G overall it's a great phone

Clearly if you want a business phone that has FM radio you are not in the right market. Name one Blackberry with radio? You can't. This is the market Palm is in and after. Wifi is debateable, but again people will use GPRS/3G over hotspots anyway. Wifi is not reliable in terms of coverage compared to GPRS and it kills your battery.

I think Palm could of been Blackberry if 5 years ago would of watch the Market. How possible can you make a phone without Wi-Fi??? We saw what happen to Blackberry Storm 1 when did not have a Wo-Fi. No Wi-Fi No Business.

Just got the pixi on sprint network thru amazon paid only $25. sprint has the best unlimited data plan (believe me i checked everywhere before switching). phone is great!!!you can navigate touchscreen with just your thumb while holding the phone in the same hand. txt, email, web and talk all are great on sprint so far. I live in texas in the triangle so no connectivity issues so far. doing multiple things at once is the best feature on this phone. battery life is not great, but you can buy a extended battery online if you are on the phone all the time. syncs with my laptop for media, already have my entire gmail account syncd via sprint network. you can make custom ring tones on your computer and load them on the pixi even though it is a different os. I thought it would clash with vista, but i was pleasantly surprised. Camera has is good with a pretty brite flash. will post again if anything comes up. P.s. palm as an updated web os which will update automatically when you have the phone idle for a while about 22mb...I noticed phone gets faster after this.

This is just a stripped-down version of the Palm Pre! So it may lower your expectations. But in the category of "candybar-formed touchscreen phones with full QWERTY keyboard", this is definitely on the top spot. No SAMSUNG INTREPID, SAMSUNG SAGA, i780, EPIX or even Palm Treo Pro can beat this one! Definitely NOT!

This looks great. A simple phone with an awesome OS, changeable covers (look up the Engadget show ep.1 for the CEO of Palm showing these off) and a nifty gesture area plus GOOD multitouch screen and 600MHz processor. Its cheap and just what palm need to get PalmOS popular with the masses who aren't looking for a fancy slider that costs a fortune. So it lacks WiFi, but your only using that if you have no 3G coverage, i.e. live in America outside a city (I'm not from America). The rest of the world has pretty good 3G and its improving. Plus the people who are generally going to be using this phone aren't gonna be too bothered anyway. As far as I see it, it's just a good little phone with big specs (sans WiFi) and a good OS in a shape that will appeal to some over the shape of a slider.

hope this wont be expensive, because it would be a great gift to my wife! she does not need wifi, video, front cam.. non of that! just sms, music player and phone, great!! btw.. since she borrowed my old E61, which was just laying around after she broke her phone, she wont touch any other phone but one with a QWERTY keyboard! i think if more people would give QWERTY phones a try most of them would not want anything else after that. it's just so much more convenient to type anything really from calender entries to notes to sms! now i hope the price wont be too high since its really a featureless phone so i hope they price it that way.

You mean a pearl 8120.Im not a big fan of blackberry but i hope this can help you. Try not to run many applications at once, if you have a microSD card in it remove it. Try switching off the phone and removing the battery. If that does not work reformat your phone. If neither of those work you probably have a faulty phone, go to the shop where you bought it from and ask them to fix it for you or replace the phone. Where did you buy it from? This problem usually does not occur on phones so its most probable that you got a faulty phone.

This phone is a downgrade from pre , i don't know about it's processing power , but i hope it faster , coz my pre sometimes laggy and very disapointing beside the fact that web os has a great messaging system . oh , don't forget to mention this phone still lack of 3rd party software avaliability , such as messenger and skype (which is one of the most important) is really a downside...
