Lenovo Z5 Pro - User Reviews

  • download CHINA STOCK ROM ANDROID 8.1 2.9GB L78031_CN_SECURE_USER_Q00009.0_O_ZUI_10.0.355_ST_190109_qpst google it to how to flash it

  • where did u buy it

  • When I brought it, the phone already in China rom.

  • how did u flashed to china rom

  • I've a Lenovo z5 pro and have updated to android pie running on china ROM with play store installed. The problem is the phone not getting sound and vibrate when WhatsApp massage arrive. Anyone have the same problem. No problem with wechat and sms.

  • I bought Lenovo z5 pro from China. No need to install google framework separately. By default google play services is available in Lenovo z5 pro. From lenovo store we can easily download playstore and all other google products except playservice framework.

  • Hi bro is it slim or thick?

  • The device is not certified by Google play so all programes are not supported.. we need Lenovo to register the phone with Google play urgent

  • I love this phone and it's amazing good features but the bad of this is does not have a Card Slot Sadly i have 64GB version :(

  • I love the phone. Fingerprint reader works every time, have set up 4 fingers so far. Facial recognition works well too day or night. I like the Slider to Call feature, no accidental dailing. It's blazing fast too & 128 GB is lots of space. All backed data is uploaded in a flash. Installed SwiftKey keyboard and walah, smooth typing. Don't like ZUI & the stock apps, uninstalled those I can & disabled the others. Switched to Microsoft Launcher & TrueCaller. Phone dimensions are good. Slim & fits easily in shirt or trouser pocket, very comfortable to carry. The Power & Volume Buttons sticking out at first seem odd, however they provide very good holding points when carrying the phone, nice touch. Kudos to design team. Battery life is good goes 2 days with charge on regular use, 1.5 days if always connected to Wi-Fi or Mobile Data. It charges fast too, in under an hour.

  • The only real letdown despite the phone never coming to the U.S. that being said if your like me and are able to find one for $200.00. Its a very solid phone. Runs and operates smoothly. Can handle any game you throw at it. In my opinion the pictures are better then that snapped with my Pocophone F1. On the flip side. No matter what country you are in. The options for protection are disappointing. Really really really pathetic. No options in the US. Nothing in the whole country. No screen protectors no Phone cases. And even if your in China. They have very limited choices. Come on Lenovo. Think about the shit....

  • What the hell are you talking about., how does this phone remind you of any Samsung

  • I played all the gams with no lags. Good performance. Beautiful screen and speaker is really good.

  • Have been thinking to buy from aliexpress too, I am waiting to gether some money and for the prices to drop.

  • I bought from Aliexpress, it is very good phone for the price off 300 eur + taxes. You can only order from china for now. My model have play store, but only English and Chinese language.

  • Hi bro, how about the gaming like pubg ? Did you see any bug? Thanks

  • Oh ok thanks for explaining

  • Its been three months since release and the phone is nowhere to be seen in Europe.

  • The back maybe

  • Hi dear, lenovo z5 pro how many price in bd.whice market now avalable. I want to bey this phone. ....pls reply me .....thinks.

  • How to download Google play store?

  • how much time took to launch in india

  • Why? What problem do you got?

  • LoL

  • Hi, When the phone be available for other parts of asia ? looking forward to own one but will require international set. Thanks

  • Got this phone. The battery seems small but it's a 3 day phone for me. The 710 is really efficient.

  • dear sir kindly give us big battery like asus m2 pro. i.e 5000 mah battery

  • for that price , it's perfect! wish that the cameras are any good , then this device will be amazing .

  • who the f cares lol

  • Hi. Where to buy in UK, so far nowhere to be seen?

  • The Uk uses LTE Bands for 4G 800MHz (Band 20) 900MHz (Band 8) 1800MHz (Band 3) 2100MHz (Band 1) 2600MHz (Band 7)

  • Why does it (to me) have a similar design to the Samsung Galaxy S II (GT-I9100)?

  • The price is fine for what it has.

  • Such a great looking device, would have been a great alternative to the mi mix 3 or honor magic 10 if they'd included band 20 and whitelisted it with google. As of now the only phone out of the new bezel free pop up / slider designs that will work properly with 4g in the UK is the mi mix 3

  • Every mobile network in the UK uses band 20 for their main 4g connection, the other bands will only give you 4g in a few places and be very slow. A phone without band 20 is practically unuseable as a smartphone in the uk

  • No band 20 so this phone won't work with 4g in the UK :'(

  • Is your seller up to date on Google's restrictions? It used to be easy to install google play etc, but not anymore unless the device is certified. You can still use the device and install apps from other app stores, but no google maps (HERE Maps is a great alternative), no gmail, but outlook etc instead (which I use anyways), so really the only thing I use and would miss is Chrome (which has many alternatives), casting (unless third party apps can still do this without googe play services and google home) and Google Photos (with free cloud backup - main selling point - and most important one to me). With google even implementing themselves completely (not just android auto) into new cars, it really is not tempting to get a non-google phone. Still no Z5 Pro in Google's list. Everyone should no by now that there is no such thing as geaographical restrictions since the Internet became widespread. Both Honor Magic 2 and Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 are present in google list and installing google play is easy as pie (which Z5 pro doesn't have either). • A local seller in my country said that it is easy to install google play. The price is about $360, place order and get it after about three days.

  • That's a little unrealistic

  • Surely you can via Lenovo app center or you can download apk

  • Does anyone know if you can install Google play store on this phone without root?

  • The phone does have band 1,7 and 8 which works in the uk

  • No band 20 so useless in the Uk. Why do so many chinese manufacturers not want to sell phones to the uk? :'(

  • Battery is so weak. If they give 40000 mAh so we can say its ok

  • Lenovo is playing a safe game here. They launched this phone in china just after Huawei and Mi slider phones when it became a trend. . U can expect this phone in ur country only if major players adopt this tech

  • Cheap but keep the quality is lenovo. Cheaper than lenovo u have working phone 3m than headach

  • What's supposed to happen on December 17?

  • 17th dec.

  • Lenovo better fix that a.s.a.p.

  • It is still only Z5 appearing in supported device, no Z5 Pro. Lenovo,Z5,jd2018,Lenovo L78011 Lenovo,Z5,jd2018_cmcc,Lenovo L78011

  • does anyone know when will the global version be released with google services?

  • what is the box contents and when will launch in india....?

  • 210 grams is a deal breaker for me. Thick as a plank too.

  • It goes for every phone... we need actual confirmation from reviewers.... There is a review on Giztop though but it doesn't mention it.

  • Do you know for sure that this device qualifies to be whitelisted? Have you tried it on this device?

  • There are som suggestions in this guide: Did you try step 2. "Its Time to Register Your Device with Google."? If none of the above works, then perhaps sideloading a older version of gapps, before this was implemented, instead of the most recent? Not a particularly good solution, with regards to updates that require more recent version of play services in example to update. Yalp store will get you a long way if you're not a big user of googles own apps.

  • It'll be more than fine

  • after 6 month use what will be the condition of mechanical pop-up camera. it makes me a little bit nervous.

  • Great phone but that camera gives me creeps.

  • still slide trick is mesmerizing enough to some people, me included. and the best thing is we don’t get to see the screen being cut by annoying notch or water drop.

  • Thanks for the reply, hopefully all issues will be resolved until black friday if not, at least before Christmas, we may see another promotion.

  • My guess is 7hrs of screen on time

  • Thanks for the info and research. Not an amateur after all. Hopefully we can both buy it safely soon... Without issues.

  • What about the battery performance of Z5 Pro? How many hours screen on time can we use?

  • Giztop.com is selling the same Chinese imported version as Lenovo in China. I have tested the Chinese version my self model number L78031 and it does not currently work with Google services and google apps at all since there is a new google policy that block all non supported devices from Gapps that are have an android version compiled after martch 31 2018. This means any phone running any android systems.. not just the android pie. So far there is no information that lenovo will bring this phone outside of china.. any online shop or retailer selling this phone is selling the Chinese version as that is the only one that has been created.. model number L78031 and it does not have GSM certification.. Lenovo is an official partner for googles GSM program but this device has not yet! been approved.. maybe it will but as for now I would recommend to wait for that info to come out. I tested the Chinese version myself. i have also requested information from Lenovo Beijing and HongKong offices abou this issue related to google apps and the GSM certification.

  • @Zenkar, From giztop.com they say that google apps is included, but phones costs 315 euro, what about your chinese version?

  • thank your for telling us this info! how can we find out (if the phone will be available in europe) if it will be yompatible with googles services? cheers!

  • Some body comments lenovo z5 pro cannot run the Google app.Any body can tell me that issue true or not? Pls

  • you cant anymore white listing is old news since it still wont make your device supported by google, it wont work due to the new policy from google to block all non supported devices compiled and created after march 31 2018. I tried to white list the device but all you get is the same error asking for you to contact Lenovo. Leave the name calling for kids forums!

  • You can white list it in playstore settings

  • You could have white listed the device in playstore... Amateur.

  • I can confirm it now! Bought the phone from 11.11 sale from Lenovo's official taobao store. got it yesterday and It CANT RUN GOOGLE APPS.. Google has not APPROVED this phone and thus it cant run any google app.. it has no google services installed and even if installed it will not work since it will give you message to contact Lenovo and ask them to certify the device with google. So unless they release an official global rom listen in googles list of supported devices, their new policy wont lets Gapps run on this device.. DO NOT BUY IF YOU NEED GOOGLE APPS. I returned the phone today due to this issue.. Why cant manufacturers let people know before hand.. great phone but shitty software experience due to google and Lenovo not working things out before hand.

  • My next phone😍

  • Yes you r absolutely right

  • sliding thing is not that expensive, in old days so many budget Nokia , sony, samsung devices had sliding function, now some companies are trying to loot you with this inexpensive little sliding trick, but lenovo is here to prove if it sells within a budget

  • this phone is beast, everyone is waiting for this phone. Lenovo always comes with vibe ui and Android launcher, and the Android launcher is super neat, trust me and they even added Dolby Atmos and the design is excellent and premium, i hope Lenovo starts giving more colour choices like white and red in future

  • Sadly it's only a short review the camera doesn't explain enough

  • yes it does go watch panda daily review of lenovo z5 pro

  • S5 pro is best for this phone . Back side is to ugly . So change the Design

  • Does the lenovo z5 pro face unlock work in full darkness? Without lighting

  • Does this phone have OIS? I am not finding this info anywhere.

  • basically it just means that they have to be part of the google program and follow googles rules but it does not mean they have to ship the phones with the apps and google services installed.. people can still do that if they want to since google wants every user to be part of their service but china has laws that prevent google from doing that.. but they still want to be part of the market.. I think its a good move as long as chinese devs see benefits in the program.

  • A very bleak future for Android in that case. Closing it off could be the downfall of Android for China phones. Hopefully it won't be a thing for the z5 pro.

  • It seems this phone is not on the list of Google Supported Devices, at least not yet (usually devices should appear there before or latest when they come on sale). Its a list updated by google with all phones that are able to use google play services with supported updates to Gapps (starting their new policy). Also found many sources after some deep digging that confirm google has made it so that a device manufacturer has to apply for the device to be google service supported for it to be able to install and use google services and Gapps in the future, this is an effort to close the securities issues with security updates and gain some control over the android ecosystem.. Still cant find if it applies to only android 9+ devices or devices released and made after march 31 2018.. some conflicting information out about that but the best guess is to wait for the devices to be released and see if google updates their list of Google Supported Devices.. if the phone is on that list it can install all Gapps even if it does not come pre-installed with them. Also the Z5 Pro model number is L78031 And I will add the link to the google page where people can check for Google supported devices here this is a resource that should be visible everywhere but it seems to not be, lets hope this helps those planning on buying the phone and using it outside of China.

  • Sideloading isn't gone, but sideloading Google play store for uncertified devices is. I'm not sure how happy they are about linking to other forums here, so i wont, but starting with Android 9 (I think) Google implemented a device certification requirement for signing into you google account which is necessary to use google play. This to try and combat phone manufacturers the does not obtain gapps though proper channels, which involves meeting Google's requirements for including GAPPS. I'm not sure if this would ever affect chinese versions of phones that does have gapps on the international version. This is why I'm not buying Mi Mix 3 yet until anyone else tests if you can still get GAPPS by downloading the Google app from Mi Store. "If you purchased a banned handset, you'll get a warning prompt stating "device is not certified by Google," preventing you from signing into your Google account. Although you can still complete your phone's initialization, you won't be able to access the Google Play Store due to your device's uncertified status." Certified status of a device can be checked in google play store by going to settings and look at the status at the bottom. I have the chinese version of Xiaomi Mi Max running android 7, and my device is not certified. I still get to use gapps, but as you can see I run android 7 so no issue. But if a new phone running android 9, I might not be able to use google play if the phone has this same uncertified status. In any case, as always, people found ways around this. Google "gadgethacks 3 ways get around googles uncertified device ban"

  • There are articles about it at the xda dev website

  • Sounds like bogus to me. Can't find anything regarding Pie and no side loading.

  • I think side loading google playt services and play store was still possible to sideload on android 8.1, which this one has. But vaguely remember hearing that google would make this not possible from android 9 for non-certified devices.

  • General relativity my friend. In that case I still prefer the Lenovo execution. If you'd compare them IRL you'd probably say the same.

  • I'm in China and planning to buy this phone. Does it support Google Services and the Play store.. these are not the same thing.. I have heard from 3 different Lenovo sales people in 3 different stores in shanghai that is does not support google services?? can you or someone who has the phone confirm this?

  • Can anyone 100% confirm that the z5 pro can have google services and google play store installed. Have you done it. I know for 100% it support English language in zui10 (I have seen this). I have also heard from 3 different sales people at lenovo stores in shanghai that the phone does not support google services but I think they just know the regular google does not work in china bs. I would think google would not allow manufactures to block instal of google services since they changed their licensing for android. Any confirmation for google play and google services installed would be great!

  • I'm in China and planning to buy this phone. Does it support Google Services and the Play store.. these are not the same thing.. I have heard from 3 different Lenovo sales people in 3 different stores in shanghai that is does not support google services?? can you or someone who has the phone confirm this?

  • My version is chinese, so it does not have them, but I could manage to install google services on my device.

  • Well, the thing is if Lenovo's side bezels were upped to 3.5-4mm, and kept the bottom at 5mm, then it wouldn't have a noticable chin, it would seem to have the same thickness all around. Maybe they could have fitted a slightly bigger battery as a result as well. Xiaomi's chin may be thicker, but it doesn't look it. It is 50% thicker than the sides, whereas the Z5 Pro is 100% thicker, making it more apparant. Of course the best would be to have 2.5mm all the way around, but still difficult with apples patent. Quite frankly very impressive what they are getting now all three with regards to their essentially no chin.

  • Imo not as bad as you paint it for the Pro. The Pro has 2.5mm side bezels and 5mm botton bezel, whereas the Mix 3 has 4mm side bezels and 6mm bottom, so that is a big difference. Lenovo really tried their best while Xiaomi didn't.

  • Ya. That's the con for most like notch exist. But hopefully it has the function to answer the phone when pull the slider out. That will be cool like good ol phone from song erisson XD XD

  • Yes, at giztop.com, they state that all phones they sell have google play functionality. I am so glad that a full bezelless phone is finaly with mid-range pricing. not to mention quad cameras, fingerprint display sensor, video stabilization! awaiting discount on black friday!

  • great úphone for a great price.

  • Yes, as far as bezel less sliders go, this one is very affordable compared to Mi Mix 3 and Honor Magic 2. We know SD710 is a good part of that, but probably not all. It will be interesting to see a camera comparison between the three. One thing I'm not too happy about with the Z5 Pro is the earpice placement and no "grill" though to the front like the other two, so for non-handsfree conversation you always have to slide this open, on the others you dont. They on the other hand come at the expense of thicker bezels on side and top, but that also resulting and a less aparant chin. In short, the thinner frame on sides and top makes this phone appear to have a chin - even though the chin is no thicker than the others. It's probably about the same size as iphone x/xs, only that one has about the same thinkness all around so it appears to have no chin, even though it most definetly does.

  • Does it support google play

  • No Band 20 and 28. I am disappointed.

  • if this comes with androidone outside china it Will rule the market for sure

  • I will buy that phone.Because it is cheeper then Xiaomi mix 3 and honor magic 2.Actually I prefer the bezel less phone. It is also glossy and should be smoth.Just one things is problem for Heavy weight besides overall fine.tnx

  • Seems good on paper. Or too good to be true. I hope the review on it is as good as it claimed to be. Looks like China is embracing the slider form factor after Honor Magic 2 and Mi Mix 3. They certainly ditching the notch super fast.

  • I have a Zuk z2, and software update is fantastic, I bought it with android 6.0, and now its android 8, while 9 is in its final stages of dev. I cant say if this z5 pro gonna have the same fate or not.

  • Eh, hard to say. Both don’t have a very good updates schedule, both have comparable cameras and battery most likely, and both are mostly Chinese exclusives. I suppose it comes down to if you want a slider or not

  • Nah, the camera performance will probably be as good purely based on the fact that sliders with smaller batteries than their Mate counterparts might not be everyone’s cup of tea

  • Thee are exclusive to china and why u r so worried about updates in china?

  • really nice specs, and design too.. with that price, 6/128gb version is hot option to buy. Only thing that worries me is Lenovo branding, and my bad experience, have Lenovo Tab s8- Disastrous battery and 9 circles of hell with bugs and lagging.. weak updates and so on.. Wondering if Lenovo progressed with that nowadays.

  • watch a review point out that the 16x in screen fingerprint scanner aint as responsive as those from OV, and some complain that the snapdragon soc aint that fine tune on the new meizu series. I personally prefer this slider mechanism, even though its more thick & heavy, at least different from all current available brick in the market, with a nice high screen body ration front, and I dislike notches

  • though bit off topic, magic 2 camera performance definitely wont match those of mate 20 series, else how Huawei going to sell their mate 20s, but I dont think it will be in a bad shape till zero tolerance Every phone does has its cons and pros, so just choose the one which suit your needs most.

  • too ugly from the back its like a 100$ device what about meizu 16x, any idea about it? you choose this or 16x?

  • Problem with such phones are that you can't even apply a proper protection case.

  • Is that lenovo is a reliable mobile company providing quality products ?

  • Camera housing is ugly .

  • Does lenovo provide regular or any kind of software update ?

  • 300€?! :)

  • honor magic is 2.5x price of this

  • Friendly prices! Fingerprint below the screen, super amoled, SD 710, USB C, full screen! Infrared face unlock.

  • Honor Magic 2 has more powerful CPU, yes, but many of the GPU comparison are in Adreno 630's favour over Mali G-76 MP10. It's still early though and they are both solid performers. Battery consumption comparisons will be more interesting. 7nm Honor should have a benefit. Also, depending on preference, camera performance. We know Mi Mix 3 has a solid camera, we also know that Huawei has very good cameras in P20 Pro and Mate 20 Pro, but this is Honor line and lower price. Jury is still out on it's camera.

  • Honor magic 2 might be a better option over mix 3, for those which want more power & could afford it

  • And dont forget that the mix3 which had a more power hungry soc and come with a lower battery capacity.

  • for people said with this concept is acceptable for not having a headphone jack... you remeber back in the days there was those super slim phone and those still have a headphone jack

  • Very different price range and requirements from user. If you require flagship performance from CPU/GPU, then Mi Mix 3 If not, then Z5 Pro If you require flagship performance camera then Mi Mix 3 delivers. We are yet to see the performance of Z5 Pro's camera. Battery wise I think they both should have been better, but I think the Z5 Pro should do better than Mi Mix 3 considering SD710. But have to see actual comparison before knowing. Also Xiaomi is good at updates, even my old Mi Max (1) budget phone got MIUI 10, though no android patch level this time. Mi Mix line is flagship and gets even better updates. I have no experience with Lenovo's track record for updates.

  • These mechanics adds to weight..if this trend will not stop we have to lift phone with two hands.

  • How do you think about proximity sensor on this phone guys? Its placed at slider with front camera right? So its mean we all must slide this phone everytime we need for call for auto turn off screen while calling right ?

  • Lenovo has pretty good history with camera so

  • This or Xiaomi mi mix 3!?!?!

  • Is the price tag real? I'm likely going to buy this phone

  • how about hdr display?

  • 6.39 Amoled screen but battery life 3350mh. Lenovo is not favourable for users specially on air updates. I had a Lenovo vibe shot which drained battery fast also no updates... but camera was superb

  • I hope the camera is of good quality. Hope dxomark reviews this phone.

  • Seems like a very good devise, SD710 makes the phone price low enough, and NFC is a must one for me. Surely will have it!

  • Official Lenovo Z5 Specs SD 710 AIE Turbo 6.39 inch HDR 10 AMOLED (screen body ratio 95.06%) In screen finger print scanner 24+16mp dual AI cam (IMX 519 & 576, both f1.8) 16+8mp dual AI selfie cam (f2.2 with infrared sensor) NFC support/ dedicated security chip/ ZUI 10 3350 mAh battery 6+64gb ~ 2k RMB (china currency) 6+ 128gb ~ 2.3k RMB Phone will start selling on 11th Nov

  • Yes with nfc support

  • Am gr8 fan of Lenovo, but this time if they are trying gimmick to hold on few from commiting to 6T, they will loos the fan following

  • I have Same Question

  • Hi there, what about NFC?

  • I feel like Lenovo is tricking. Remember what they did with the Z5

  • Good phone

  • I would never buy anything else u except Lenovo when it comes to high end business Think Pad laptops. Reliable and beautiful as hell as is support. Don't know about their phones but would imagine their network should be getting up to speed now.

  • The moto tab has a huge battery and an fm,radio why not for this s5 pro?

  • Red Flag= possible concealment of notch

  • I will NEVER buy a Lenovo product again, especially the high priced model. There not even close when it comes to support like Apple, Samsung, LG and Sony.

  • but s far i heard the battery is 3400Mah ....lots of site provide different information. i am actually a bit confused about the specification

  • If it arrives with FM Radio and with a good battery we will surely buy it in Latin America.

  • Lenovo has lost the mobile market and credibility too.

  • Dear its not a rumour, its true Lenovo launch this mobile in China last weak.

  • According to this video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mx85C5FZDM8), Lenovo Z5 Pro will be released after Chinese National Break (10/01 to 10/07) with sliding design that let you manually slide the camera out when you want to take photos.

  • I am going to purchase this

  • I hope it comes without notch as the ad.

  • 2160p@30fps, why wouldn't this be able to this 60, I thought this was a chipset feature.

  • I don't expect much from a full of bullcrap company, plus I hate no 3.5mm jack

  • These are china exclusive & sold well in there

  • I would rather get LG V35 with a headphone jack and SD card option over this stupid phone

  • Hope this reaches Spain

  • The Lenovo Z5 was a great phone ruined by false marketing. It had great specs & design for the price ($200). Hopefully the Z5 Pro will be the real deal with flagship specs and a attractive price. I would ignore their mistake if they would launch what they had promised in their fake ads.
