Sadly, this phone dint reach my expectation. Its almost 2 months since i picked this phone up. I dint get the software CD, there were some sort of applications downloaded and they wont get deleted. Emails from the service providers cant be deleted. Offlate the touch calibration are not functioning. I have to repeated tap till i lose my patience and almost use the cancel button. It doesn't scroll thru touch. This is like so scary that i invested in something that not yet available in the Indian market and finally see it acting funny. I'm literally cooked up using this phone. Ive always been a fan of LG for some really out of the box looks on the phones, but this definitely shook the feeling of it being the best, for me.....

This phone gets really annoying with the texting. If you text a lot , not a good phone to use with. The camera isn't very good. It sometimes randomly lags and you have to exit whatever you're doing.

Mines is unlocked, and it was used for a few months. To be a used phone, it still works really good. I'm not much of a high tech phone chick. So if you are looking for something that has good features, but not too fancy, and complicated.. this phone is a good choice. I have t-mobile, and they have really sucky reception, for some reason with this phone, its better than usual.. is that 3g?? dunno. i guess its just best to be delicate with it.. but what 20th century isnt like that besides the basic phones?..

I bought my LG KE990 in February. The camera takes really nice pics and video in the right lighting, otherwise, the images look like they could use a bit more "life". It can't compare with my SONY point and shoot camera. But, I don't always have the point and shoot and my LG is always with me so it's worth having. Don't drop it though or you could ruin the touch pad. A company id repairing mine at the moment at a reasonable cost, about 20% of the cost of a new one. I let u guys know how that went.

I dont think it support more than 2gb, because when you use 2gb and you have 400 mb free space it will solw and it takes so much time to open your music files for example. So i dont think buying more than 2 gb be useful. Regards

Depending on your needs, star wifi is good choice but camera donot focus on subject but has many functions. samsung interface is user friendly and you enjoy it. Lg is also good choice, if camera is not important, Star is better choice!

the battery lasts for one day, sometimes one and a half. The picthures taken with its camera are enough good to me but they could be better.. the quality of the videos is not totaly clear. I own one and its fine but there are a lot much better in this days.

hello marcy, it depends of your telephone company, maybe you have to contact them, here in costarica you only have to go to the local company and ask them to configure it, in that way the phone will be able to make the internet conection. Otherwise this mobile hasnt wifi, so you have to pay for the service. i hope this has helped you...

Im seeking for a nice "digital camera/cell phone" that wont break the bank, and I just got this LG KE990. At first, the "ATT" customer care helped me to get regular text messages to work, but I still couldnt send or receive picture messages. Hi I bought this mphone about a week and do some experince that i want to share with you all. I had a p990i from SE it was a good but very slow phone. But Ke990 is very fast response phone, its interface is very user friendly and working with this phone is quit simple. it uses very hight tech handwriting future which surprise every one. Design is nice but jog is not at good position and use of it is little bit uncomfortable. Camera looks good but its Image stab is not good. Sharpness of Pic is not good but advance setting will help you to get a great shots, It needs practice!!!handsfree has great design but clearance of sounds is not mentioned, also media player dose not have any Equalizing future. overall its a very good touch phone at this price range and i enjoy it. thanks LG

Both I and my friend had this phone and both of us all most at the same time (approx 5 days in) found the phone had some basic plaws the touch screen would develop a mind of its own and did as it pleased! e.g you would try to scroll down one section the phone decided it want to go right to the bottom very frustrating eventually trust me try a tocco guys this ain't worth buying

I owned this phone for a year and it was amazing! Unfortunately me being a clumsy person, I dropped it in the toilet therefore the phone doesn't work. :[ But anyways, the Viewty is amazing, although I did have trouble with using the camera. I didn't feel that it was as great as people thought of it to be. The phone is very light and had many features as well. The quality of the music was great and video capturing was good as well. If you want a touchscreen phone this is a great choice! I had no confusion at all.

call up to your service provider and let them know you have a phone from HK and you need the internet setting for that model. make sure when you do call your service provider your calling from a different phone because they might have to send the programs via text =D have fun hopefully this helps you cause that's what i did with my phone

The setting on my phone for the browser is connected to SmartTone- a cell phone network in HK. I bought the KU990 a month ago and my girlfriend has had the KE990 for about three months. Overall, we've both had a good experience with our phones. Just one thing: I wish the KU990 also had a camera lens cover to keep dust and dirt out. But other than that, the touchscreen is great (you don't really need the stylus) and call quality is decent. I use my phone a lot so I don't usually get more than a day or day and a half before I need to recharge it. Hope this helps anyone thinking about buying this phone!

the ke990 has no 3g ability, it is the American version of the ku990. the 3g ability enables your form to access high speed internet, compared to non 3g funtion.my advice is , get the ku990 and enjoy 3g, cos its really good.

you can use an 8G card and fill the card with 6G'S files, then you'll find that it works~~The 6G files can be viewed, though you can't move\delete\edit them. And the 2G spaces remine can be use as usual.

How is the audio quality? It's audio quality is better or worse considering Samsung F490? If its quality is similar to F490 i think viewty is best choice for me. The specs says viewty has an awesome video recorder and F490 sucks in that. Anyway, I previously had LG U8360 and had a damn bad typing speed but had better battery, 1400mAh! As far as i know there is only a small difference; The KU has a camera in the front for video calling. It has 3G for faster internet which the KE has not. And it has for some reason a longer battery life. But the KE has a lens cover for the camera lens.

Got this phone recently. Thought it was pretty good. The only thing that annoys me is the battery life. leaving the phone in idle/locked mode alone for a day takes up around 1/2 of the total battery bar.

The sound quality is barely acceptable. The are no presets o manual equalizer whatsoever. All in all, it does what it says. It�s not an "smartphone", it�s simply an average phone with a great touch screen. The camera can take good pictures, but it�s too easy to take a bad one. Ask any question if you need.

Hi, I m using LG viewty since last 7 months...what a superb mobile specially in terms of pics quality and DVD type video....nice to look at and this phone looks really posh...when u r holding it every one does give a look at ur mobile...the only thing which i didnt like in this mobile is...it has just 3 themes and no other themes can be downloaded for this phone and it doesnt support animated pics on its wallpaper....but on the other hand its camera...and other features like ISO800 and video is NO.1 so i will suggest all of u..that if u r interested to take good quality pics with a mobile u must go for LG VIEWTY.....!

camera is superb... the quality is so high that even an 11 sec video is around 3 MB... music quality is good but i love to hurt my ears when I listen to music... sadly that's the only drawback... the music volume goes upto a standard high volume.. not enough to hurt my ears (satisfy me) :D overall i made all of my friends jealous coz it's a good buy for the buck... simply awesome... :)

it's awesome ! But its' AUTO settings are damned ! here's some useful hints : to take good photos you must set the ISO to ISO 400 for dark places use Party or night mode . the image stabilizer can't do anything in ISO800 (or any upper than ISO 400) ** for finding the ISO for a taken photo ; in PC right click on it ->properties ->summary tab -> Advanced button try to take photos under ISO400 . for faster access install games and programms in Handset memory instead of External. use external only for videos or MP3s . ** to set the internal memory as primary storage for G and P : menu -> setting ->memory manager ->primary storage setting . for the primary storage settings for camera set it trough the camera options .

WOW I found how to install themes on it . themes are Viewtifull ! but you must Hack the phone then install theme manager program on it . in website the language is persian . but I'll try to translate it . it takes time ... you can also see it in YouTube but it's hard to find .

I just reviewed the KU990 and found that Its sound quality is amazing. I am from Bangladesh and only KE990 is available here. I rather like KE990 as it has Xenon Flash and probably will buy it. My LG Viewty arrived three days ago and I haven't been able to put it down. It's just that good! The interface is quite easy and it's a lot of fun (use the jog wheel, makes scrolling so much more eaiser). THe camera is basic enough however when set properly, the photos come out pretty awsome. I'm still in awe of how customizable everything is even though themes are limited, ringtones, photos and wallpaper and every mode you can think of are all changeable. I rather like that!! lol Oh and one more thing, where I live, my service provider sucks so bad I'd change it in a heart beat if I could (ITE Wireless, Guam) the signal is so poor that i am constantly searching for areas of service, however with my brilliantly beautiful Viewty, seems to suck in that ellusive signal!! It's a joy! It's fantastic! Ace!!

The differences between the ku990 and the ke990 are that the ku has a 2100mhz 3G receiver and no 850mhz 2G receiver, which basically makes it a euro-centric phone. I am in the united states using ATT so i need that 850mhz band, which can be found on the ke version. The ke has no 3G, but does have a physical camera cover that protects the lens and activates the camera. Otherwise they are pretty much identical, just slightly different users in mind

In terms of thickness, the KE990 is 15.3mm, or about 2/3 of an inch. It's really not that thick at all; thinner than the Nokia N82 and the Sony Ericsson K850i, which also have 5 megapixel snappers with xenon flash. Hope that helps!

There are plenty of Viewty users who actually know how to set up and use a phone properly who get way more battery life than that. Also, if you can't seem to figure out LG's touch interface, I'm pretty sure there's something wrong with YOU, not the phone.

In some east European countries it is sold with 110euros for a contract or less. It's not that impossible to sell 5million copies. I have made the mistake to buy one of these phones! I'm not satisfied at all! 1. the screen doesn't react promptly to the given commands; 2. the battery life just suckxxx, and big time, it lasts only for 24hr with talking like 30 minutes, some gaming and some internet plus 5 to 10 SMS; 3. in some places has problem with the signal. Overall it has a lot of functions for less money, but it comes with a lot of nerves to and it doesn't give satisfaction! I would rate him as average (the lowest part of this section to)! I wouldn't recommend it to any of my friends (sorry to say that but that's it)! Go for iPhone or something else from Nokia or SonyEricsson! You won't regret it even if you won't get the same functions totally for the same money, but you will have the guaranty of the quality with Nokia, SonyEricsson! LG it's not quality in mobile phones!

Firts of all for those of you who are wondering what the difference between the KU990 and the KE990 is, here we go; The KU990 has a front mounted camera for video chat and has 3G capebilities. The KE990 lacks these feature but is identical in every other way except for the addition of a manual lens shutter. I have had this phone for about a month now and have tested it extensivly. Very good phone especially fro the $250 price tag. The phone feels solid and provdues great quality pictures which are a pleasre to view on the high res 3 inch screen. wi-fi would have been a great addition, however if wi-fi is not an issue to you, go out , get this phone, you wont be dissapointed. It is an absolute pleasure to use, highly recommended

Hi - I am not sure where you are located, but I have T-Mobile as well. It sounds like your phone needs to be configured to send and recieve messages. This tool is extremely helpful: Just choose your Viewty from the drop-down menu and what you would like to set up.

had this phone for 6 months and never tire of it. tops camera, easy to use ( when you get used to the touch screen) texting even quicker than keys now. great music player, nice and loud. only slight quibble is a bit thick round the middle (like me) but no other faults. buy it in a heartbeat !

Hi out there, i use this lg990 viewty already 11 months, i have no complains except all good thing with this phone. i used to carry either a camera or a handycam with me when i am at important occassion, but now i only have lg990 viewty with me. i took a lot of video already with this phone ( more than 18 gb already)and all of them is to my supprise is a very good quality. of course little bit lower resolution but i enjoy watching it on my full screen 22" monitor or my big flat tv. and every time i showed this taken video to a friend or family, they are supprise to the quality of the video. of course nothing is perfect, battery is short than buy two of them, even i have a latest canon videocam but it last only 2 hours to shoot. so people, buy buy and it is now very cheap compare to last year price.

KU990 is the old version, KU990R has a few tweaks and a lens cover and the KE990 is exactly the same as the KU990R but without 3G (Its the North American version) without the front camera, And theyre all exactly the same size and shape

I have just had this problem too and called O2 my provider. Apparently the default 3G signal has gone down and there engineers are trying to resolve it. In the meantime if you change your setting to 2g the phone should work and be more reliable.... apparently. Only problem is, I can't find the setting!

i was so gutted when i got this phone. i got it literally the day it came out and iv had promelms from the start. first my battery kept dying, then the back refused to stay on and i kept losing it. now its got to the stage where it doesnt even work. it wont let me access pics, music any files at all. it just turns off and then back on. i had to send it back the other day, now it wont turn on at all. and i can honestly say i have never dropped it or missused it. im not the only one either thats had problems. although it could just be that it was a faulty batch or because it was so new, not enough tests were done on it

I fully agree with you. You are absolutely 100% right. the pictures from my old w800 sony ericson are by far much much better than all the pictures that were taked with my viewty KU990. I really regret buying this phone. I payed a lot and got nothing in return.

When i bought this phone and started using it, the battery stayed working for almost 24 hours maximum and then i had to recharge it. Which was so pathetic. A few days later i found "power save" icon in the phone settings and switched it to "ON" the phone battery stays for at least 3 days now. Nevertheless i am still pissed at this phone for not having the feature to turn the radio on via speaker. Also I am Not able to use the flash as a source of light. (this was very handy in my previous mobile the sony erricson W800) Also the autofocus is not as sharp as the W800.Also when u listen to the mp3 player you can't sort the songs and make a play list. You will have to go through all the songs available in the sound file. if you delete a song in the play list then you have permanently deleted it from the mobile. (very stupid)The biggest thing that really irritated me, was if you leave the mobile on silent at night coz you wanna sleep in peace, the alarm will not ring in the morning !! Although it automatically opens the phone and rings if the phone was turned off. (assuming there is some charge left in the battery).I certainly feel that i downgraded my mobile when i switched from W800 to LG viewty and i will soon sell this mobile.

i bought one cuz atnt told me it would work on their network where i live (KY) even without the 850 band. they were wrong, i had to send the phone back and atnt comped me 2 months worth of phone bills. i since bought a nokia N95 8GB. sent back the first nokia, should have sent back the second but now i'm stuck with it, i'm a life long nokia fan, but this phone seems like it was made by monkeys. its kinda a piece of crap. if you can wait, wait till newer better stuff comes out. i looked for the US version of the viewty for a long time, as near as i can tell it hasn't been released yet, and as the phone itself is already kinda old, i doubt now that it will be.

The comments posted on here about the battery not lasting long is kind of odd, I put my viewty to the test, I charged my phone to the full extent, and that was 2 days ago, and to my suprise it still has 2 bars remaining, I dont know if I just got lucky and got a good one, but my battery is sure holding up. I work for Samsung, Yes I know, I should have a Samsung phone but no, anyway, sometimes the phone company needs to hit quotas and make the phone techs work quite abit and fast to keep up with the orders, so sometimes the phone techs hurry and half do the jobs needed to fix and test out the phones, after the phone is built they go through testings, such as, the touch screen, the camera, the video camera, the ring tones, etc. People get lazy at work.. so the people who say the battery sucks or what ever just got a half assed made and tested phone..

I also have ATNT and want a Viewty, I spoke to ATNT and they told me it would work on their network despite the lack of 850mHZ. So I ordered one, they were wrong, it wouldn't work, they comped me two months bill for my trouble and being out the money of the restocking fee when I had to send the phone back. I have yet to find the US version of the phone, but if and when I do, I want to buy one. I honestly don't know if LG has even released the 850 band model yet.

I asked the people at phonesource-usa about the frequency and they replied... "There are two versions of that phone. However, we don�t carry the US version with the 850 MHz frequency." After I asked that question, they are no longer selling that phone.. or they me be editing the page. I don't know if anyone has the US version or if it exists.

to all of you looking for phones with good cameras, i would recomend the sony ericsson k810i i haven't had any play time with the viewty but i personaly think that the 3.2 mp camera is amazing, the flash is great and the auto focus and the stabilizer is great, and you also get a ton of other options

My boyfriend has this phone and as with so many of the other comments on here the battery is rubbish. It needs to be charged daily and the fact that there is no in car charger doesn't help. Recently we went to morocco on holiday and I felt the pictures on my sony ericsson w880i were far superior to his (and he's a professional photographer). Disappointing.

i have the KE990, best phone i've ever had (and i've had a few) love the camera that's on it too it's great! it's very similar to the KU990 the only thing i think that the KU 990 has that this one doesn't is the "video calling" camera in the front the phone... and there's a shutter for the camera where the KU might not have one but not sure...

Dont go anywhere near the sony ericsson k850i! It is a fantastic camera, the flash in excellent on a nite out however is continously breaks down. Everyone I know with it says exactly the same thing. Iv had mine 6 months & am on my 5th repair!! I think its over technical for itself so easily jams & breaks. The touch screen stops working, the whole phone freezes then eventually switches itself off therefore loosing what ever you were on with at the time, usually a long text which you then have to restart...very frustrating. Its such a shame because looks wise it's appealing & camera wise I dont know anything that matches it so far. Even the odd phone which says it has a xenon flash does not seem to be quite as good as the K850i. If anyone knows of a phone that takes as good pics in a night club as the K850i please let us all know!

hello i just recently bought an LG Viewty about a week ago i got mines on tmobile but i cant seem to find information on downloading stuff like ring tones and wallpapers,ect. does anyone know or could help me about please email me to my email below. i love my viewty it truly is a beauty, the video recording is superb and the pictures are really sweet, im an amature photographer well on my spare time and i must say adding xenon flash and 5mp on the viewty made it quite an exquisite phone. Though i must admit that the texting is a little hard but practice makes better. oh i almost forgot i heard from a friend that the viewty ke990 can support 4gigs of memory please if anyone knows this as to be true email me or reply here please. thank you and viewty rokz

According to mobilecityonline the 850mhz variant has not yet been released, just the 900mhz one. I contacted ATNT and they told me the phone would work on their network without the 850 band. They were wrong, I bought the KE990 and had to return it, ATNT is comping my phone bill for the mistake. Apparently the phone we need is the KE990d which has not been released yet and after weeks of searching I can't find any info on when it will be released, but hopefully soon cuz i waaaant one.

Ohkay, first off, lets all learn to spell accurately. Second of all, Who cares, Both the n95 and the Viewty(both models) have their strengths and their weaknesses. Not everyone wants a Nokia n95, and not everyone wants the LG Viewty. We all have different taste hence the fact that there are different phones available. Duh! I personally prefer the Viewty because the Symbian OS confuses the hell out of me. Just because a phone has an OS doesn't make it better. I like the Viewtys interface/os its alot easier and less confusing to use than Symbian for me. Also, its thinner, and ALOT less expensive. I do not need wi-fi because I have a Desktop and a Laptop. I do not need a secondary VGA Vcall camera because I dont have my network doesnt support the Viewtys 3G.(Video Calls also are a big waste of money, if its that important I will just meet the person IN PERSON) The camera is fine, and does its job well. I'm not a photographer, so its not like it matters. As long as it takes decent pics. Most of everybody's complaints on here are just a matter of personal preference. Or you are just looking for something wrong with it. Like who cares if viewing pictures only takes up 2.6inches of the screen. I have a computer for that. It does its job. Thats all that matters. Its ALL PERSONAL PREFERENCE PEOPLE!

I really love my viewty however it does switch itself off quite alot. Is this the same with other viewty's as it does become annoying? This first happened about a month after I had upgraded onto it.

The difference between the LG KE990 and the LG KU990 is that the KE990 has no 3G network and is the North American version. contradictory to what others believe IT IS NOT A FAKE.

to ddd + replies have to agree with all of ddd's break downs i have had the viewty (ku990) for several months now and easily outperforms my old n95. thanks for the tip about the 8 gig though dude good shout! my really really contraversial statement... i prefer the k850i's cam. i know its got a cheaper lens on it but the auto focus is alot more accurate as its sensors are actually alligned correctly (on the ku990 the 'red light' that the auto focus uses is slightly off). what does the ke990 bring to the table that the ku missed? please tell me i can mod it a bit more!

well DDD, you seem to forget that the n95 has wifi! big plus. also i dont think google maps is a substitute for GPS!! whats mroe is the n95 runs on symbian 3rd and this runs on a java based operating system! did i also forget the n95 has a standard 3.5mm jack for music! oh and the camera is supposedly better on the n95, even though that isnt really a valid point as the viewty does have divx support, and 120fps video which is rather good. but hey on my n95 i can listen to live bbc radio streams of charlton games using realplayer;)

to ddd. If you compare the specs between N95 and the Viewty, it is quite comparable. The Viewty may have more promising specs on video and pictures than the N95, but the irony is, when you compare the results, the N95 has better results both in video and pictures. I don't really care about slowmotion, I mean who would want to watch videos in slowmo, lol. Also, I used to have the Viewty, and I sold it after a couple of weeks because it is so slow in retrieving pictures. Even turning on the camera takes a while. It is a very sluggish phone. Overall the Viewty is a cool phone, but sorry, if you compare it with the N95, it does not come close to the N95's performance. But it looks way better than the N95 for sure.

hello frnds i m frm pakistan. as i compare lg viewty with nokia n95 unfortunately i shall say n95 is the best choice. lg viewty is a 2g cell phone while n 95 3g. then lg viewty has 265k colour screen while n95 has 16 million colour screen. n95 has operating systen symbian 3rd os9.2. u can play with it u can install softwares vcd players sound players messenger each n every type of application. even unsigned applications. n95 has very quick response with single touch like p4. n95 has gps w lan where lg doesnot hv. here i shall mention it lg viewty is only stylelsh but in my opinion 95 is the best choice. it does not mater 120 frames/sec or thirty. the main thing is result n95 has excelent result in video as well as in pics. its user friendly.

GPS? sorry N95, you didnt better. Viewty has google maps and downloadable softwer for GMC navigation. Internet? Well, LG is already connected to the net. If you record a video, you can do direct upload to youtube. you can go throw menu to "conect", and you have default options for webpages: Google (usuall and mobile), googleMail, Maps&Navigation, Bloger, Youtube. Viewty have fast and powerfoul browser, and you can download more of it's mobile versions. I dont know what i can look on N95 what can be opponent-feauture to LG KU900 Viewty. I actually liked the phone and messaging functions of the KU990. The reason why I sold it was because it's camera quality is not as good as the N95 that I replaced with this. So I sold it and bought the N95 8gb. Also, the screen display is 3.0, but when you take/view pictures, only 2.6 is used, compared to the N95 that makes use of the whole 2.8 display to show pictures and videos. Also, turning on the camera and loading pics takes some time with the KU990 (20 seconds at least). I hope those major issues have been addressed and fixed with this model (KE990). But I'm so hooked on my N95 that I don't think I could let go of it for this phone. I'm considering the Samsung F480 to be the better phone.

LG: my advice - make better KS20, with more WM compatibility and better speed (movie, games etc) viewty is a good phone, but lack of OS is a big downside for me.

The lg veiwty is an awsome phone, the camera is great it is also 3g and it has an amazing 3inch so you can veiw your pictures properly.I personally think that the veiwty is as good as the nokia n95 8gb and the u900 & g810!

Hi guys, I have a question. Since this phone is made to work in the U.S., will it be able to go on the internet and will it be able to get YOU Tube like the original viewty does in Europe. I am in california and am with T-Mobile and my viewty can't get internet access or you tube. It drives me crazy.. the video quality and pictures are great

Guys... read the review... this phone is the same thing as the KU990 Viewty, except this doesnt have the 3G function, but has a lense cover. This is a phone for countries who don't have 3G yet. THis phone should be alot cheaper than the KU990!!! Please find out more about the phone before you judge! , and I am not a LG fan! I like Nokia and Samsung!!! WOO!!!

Pretty sure they left out the front camera because there is no 3G, so it makes no sense to have it.

@unknown Yes if you own the viewty ull see its a little thicker at the lens, check it out on youtube. And Lg also said its thicker because of the cover and thats also y they left out the front camera :)

@ kirt, Way to round your numbers. That makes it seem like the KU990 is way thinner than this, the KE990. But the KU is 14.8mm and the KE is 15.3mm; only .5mm thicker. Would you really, really be able to tell the difference with .5mm added on? Would you even care since there is the added camera cover? And who said the reason for the added thickness is in fact the camera cover?

Haha so lg was right all along... the protective lens would have made the viewty thicker. This version is 16mm and the ku990 model is 14mm. But i know alot of people wanted the protective lens so now they have that option. I own the ku990 model, and really i see no need for the protection, but its your choice :)

I actually had this phone for two weeks. Well, I had the KU model which is basically the same thing. It is a good phone, if you like touchscreen. Only thing it lacked really was a better xenon flash (compared to the xenon on the N82, it is terrible) and a camera lens cover. So this new version is nice, too bad there is no 3G :( I dumped it for an N82. Superior camera, better OS.
