I will never buy your device again after this bad experience. Samsung correct this mistake buy sending a repair of the software in j5.

  • This is the third year running now. Fantastic device. Came in with some factory defects. Out of the box the camera crashed always, the battery was crap, the device was always getting heated. Just befor my warranty ran out the device refused to boot up anymore. It took me a very long process of going back and forth but the seller finally fixed the thing. They changed practically everything except my back casing. Now it does not heat anymore, the camera doesnot crash anymore but the picture quality is really poor. Browsing is heaven on this tab. If you want to get this tab please really consider than once you upgrade to Lolipop (it shipped with KitKat) you are going to start experiencing space issues. The Lolipop OS does not allow you install apps on your micro SD. And with just 4GB of internal memory available for storage, processes, apps and all, the device becomes laggy and almost atimes unsusable. Now as it stands i cant updat any of my apps because i do not have space and the Mashmellow update is not forthcoming. I guess this is an issue with ASUS and there are loads of threads of folks complaining about the same thing all over the world. My guess is, buy this Tab for your 10yr old daughter or son or the wife. I bought it practically to read books, all i wanted was an ebook so it serves the purpose. BTW i changed the touch screen again and the new one is absolutely rubbish. Im coping fine. Will review this maybe in future

  • don't buy this. after upgrade to android 5.0, it become super lagging although I've controll their program through it's start up program. the battery crazily drain especially when i use both sim card and keep on internet data. I need to charge more than twice per day due to this problem. their vibration and sound mode also not user friendly, i unable to select their mode wisely. signal for both sim cards also not stable, sometimes both signal loose and I've to restart to solve the problem.

  • Feel sorry for those who suffer a lot of problems when using Fonepad 7 ME372CG. My Fonepad 7 ME372CG battery broke once, I sent it to authorised Asus Customer services centre. They change it FOC because warranty and sent it back to authorised dealer in less than 7 days. The problem I met is Ghost typing(device select screen contain itself), the only solution that worked is close the device and open again.

  • If you haven't bought an Asus Fonepad 7 already; i advise you not to. It looks nice at first glance, yes it is cheap but it is expensive to maintain. Unlike other brands like Samsung etc if it falls you can not only replace the screen. One will have to replace both the screen and the LCD. This not good at all...if you replace the screen alone there will be delayed touch and screen response and it's annoying. Hopefully Fonepad 8 is better but i don't trust Asus anymore. Too bad i won't know if it is better or even worse.

  • I own Fonepad 372 CG since november 2013. I do not think there is something better for the price ever. Since I have it I didn't touch a laptop anymore (actually I sold it). I work on it my articles, I play HD movies directly from the stick (works like charm, no stops, slowing or other crap) I play and access anything from internet. Battery after 2 years stil lasts for 7 hours when is continuously on WIFI. You just have to find the best apps in PlayStore. If you stil find it somewhere to buy, do it and you will not regret. I repeat: It is about the 372CG model ! (not others)

After this update my tablet is slower than before ؛ and one problem that hurts me more than the others , is happens in playing some HD movies , when i watch any movies with high quality it's stop the movie after a few second so i installed some apps like KMPlayer or MXPlayer but problem not solved . I think that this vesion of android isn't fully compatible with this device Beacause of that ZenUI is very slower than before and benchmark point decrease more than 1000 point and battery usage is increased .   • upgrade to Lollipop on K00Z worked OK, but now sudden reproducible reboot when calling or re-installing e.g. KLM app and Hill Climb Racing app. So be aware !

  • Yes asus K00z (me175cg) had got lollipop 5.0 update. You can update by going to settings> about > system update. If you are on jellybean 4.3, upgrade it to kitkat first.

  • I hv been using this device for more than 1 year. If you ask me, my next phone will be an Asus, my next tablet will be an Asus too. This is a well-built piece of machinery. Dropped few times, my son frequently step on it. Once it failed produce any sound, I cracked open its case, gave the speaker a speck and everything is back alright. It does come with some drawbacks such as limited memory and cheap plastic feel. I just wanted a low priced device for my developer work and this device has passed with flying colours.

  • I have had a number of problems since the update. The boot sequence is screwed up. The screen sometimes locks. If you use the power button to 'lock' and then un-lock this seems to work to unfreeze it. The Wifi signal has somehow been weakened, which makes no sense. So on the whole I would not bother for now.

I uninstall battery doctor and it get better, but sometimes hang and wait until installing a app finished or complete downloading a data. I think android 5 is not fully compatible with this tablet.   • Yesterday my FonePad got a bunch of Asus SW updates via Play Store. These seemed to resolve problems with Lollipop and unresponsive touch.

  • After 2 weeks touch pad does not function any more. The sensitive screen is not sensitive anymore. A Gran design weakness is that there is no reset procedure a hole where to insert a needle to restart it all. Or tho press status button twice to shutdown. This model had already been changed to me the preceding one when I had try to insert memory it goes straight somewhere in the mobile. I open it to get It back, when done. I can't restart it at all.

  • Try not to install too much apps, especially apps you are not using much. Leave at least 2GB storage on the internal storage. Use a task killer to kill other apps before launching your favorite game. If you are launching 3D games, try restart the tablet, then killed other task using task killer, disable bluetooth and GPS before launching 3D extensive memory game. I use "Clean Master" with its build in Game Booster. Frankly, it does Lag a lot while on normal use but still able to comprehend. I found out that the longer you use an android device the lag it become, unless if you reformat it or factory reset it. It will be a speedy device after that. But its too tedious to do just that for speed. Was thinking for a upgrade to mediapad x2. Hopefully the Lollipop update will justified its speed or lag.

  • You need to use a 2.1a charging adaptor or the original adaptor to charge else the current of less then 500 would not be able to efficiently change the tablet.

  • i being use my fonepad7 me372cg for 1.1/2 year no major problem with my battery or apps. when i first got my tab it run 4.2.2 then asus updated to 4.3 then 4.4.2, at first i got issue with my mic not picking up any sound but asus release a update fixed that problem, my fonepad7 fully charge the battery in 4hour from 5% to 100% using stock charger. i don't install any games or other apps that i don't need. disable stupid facebook! ram wasting apps! i also using hd widget to control screen brightness. my tab battery can last for 2days normal usage. do you really own this tab?

  • try factory reset, then update all asus apps one by one. then update google apps one by one. don't install any 3rd party apps. test it for a few days see if any force close issues. most apps crash are cause by 3rd apps incompatible with our tab or your tab got a virus. :)

It is because they need to produce latest update for their older devices so that it compatible for our smartphone.   • Well. My first problem encounter was touch screen problem after changing cracked screen. But then it continue to extremely lagg, suddenly unmount sd card. And it went nuts by keep spammingh ome, recent apps and back button. The charging port bend. I have to angle up my charger wire to charge in.   • Anyone experienced extremely slow charging speed ? My ME372 is damn slow, I don't know how to use it on daily life. I charging it for one hour only increase around 10%, I tried turn off all the apps would consume battery. Even I direct turn off the device and charge, the result is same. Terrible device, I only use it for Clash of Clan, I can't imaging if I use it as primary device. Easy lag and most of the time need to force reboot, as it totally out of command already. Very very bad experience with Asus device.

  • Got 2x ME175CG. Downloaded the WW5.5.1 rom (kitkat 4.4.2)from the Asus support site for these units. Installed. All running fine, except some of the installed Asus Zen apps state work but when going to Google store to update them it says the app is not compatible.   • Go to service provider and ask for a SIM shop to micro SIM, Don't try cutting it remember there are brass fingers that read the SIM card in the device so make sure the SIM is installed properly. Also beware Huawei tablets 7" takes the normal SIM card but providers are giving the SIM that is adaptable with micro SIM. Ensure you have the right SIM. Had to strip tablet down to remove a micro SIM that should have been a normal SIM. Those brass fingers will secure the SIM behind them. If those are broken the tablet will not be able to read any SIM card

  • I am using Asus KOOY for more than 6 month times. Got so many system updates. Each one had their own BUGS. With the last update I suffer with wrong battery indication problem.   • Do a SIM swap to a micro SIM or if you the meticulous type cut it yourself. I've done it twice, once on my Nokia n9 n then the Lumia 800. However ever since I swapped to android I had already done a SIM swap to micro SIM when I lost my SIM. Or alternatively some places have SIM cutters.

  • Also mentioned that when use BSNL/Cell one SIM card for 3G service than SIM Signal strength are not stable in this TABLET and net are not open but if i select 2G service than signal is stable. I also used this SIM any other device its alright and working fine. And Airtel SIM are also work fine with 3G service. This is big problem kindly solve it.

A correctly cut sim card solved the no sim card error message. B. If you still can't get a signal, it is a network issue, not your fonepad. Change your network.

  • I bought Asus Fonepad 7 dual sim for my parents in laws. The tablet is a good one with calling facility. Touch response, speakers etc. all seemed to be a good bargain for its price (INR 12,000). But soon I found there is something wrong. It goes into 'Safe Mode' so often and doesn't comes back to 'Normal Mode' by rebooting. I took it to the shop I had bought it from, after playing with it and searching on Google, they were able to get it back into Normal Mode. I asked them how to get it into Normal Mode if it happens again. Their answer was 'First reboot it into Safe Mode explicitly and then reboot again'. It soon went back to 'Safe Mode' again and I was unable to get it back to Normal Mode by their suggested method. Next time when I went there, they said you need to reboot it to 'Safe Mode' explicitly twice and then restart into Normal Mode. It seemed to work for a while and I happily sent it to my parent in laws. As soon as they received it, and powered it ON, it was in Safe Mode once again. I suggested them what I had learnt works, but it didn't worked now. They finally took it to Asus service center and without trying to bring it into Normal mode carefully, the service center people simply reset it to factory settings and all the settings/apps etc. was lost. They claimed it won't come back to Safe Mode again, but that was too optimistic. It came back to safe mode the same day and they started using only limited features. Seeing this problem recurring everytime, I would suggest this tablet is good only for geeks. Not for someone who doesn't has enough patience to work with sub-optimal conditions.

  • Asus fonepad 7 (me175cg) user. When i got this device, it ran 4.2 jellybean with no zen ui and i could not install the ui from playstore. Then it auto-installed multiple updates which did the following 1. Zen ui update + 2. Added some settings update + 3. Made the device faster + 4. Added minor battery life improvement + 5. Zero network recognition for sim cards - 6. Android kitkat update + In case you missed it, number 5 is a minus/negative. No more calls, sms or mobile data internet. What is saving my bacon is wifi. Thank you,asus, for number 1,2,3,4 and 6. Now, i hoping the network-returning firmware that some are mentioning gets to my device. It would be welcome.

  • I would never ever recommend anyone to purchase any android device from asus. Service is too bad. Cant blame the staff at the service station since they were not given proper training before introducing them to the android range(they were originally trained to handle laptops)

  • Asus FonePad 7 users need to submit their handset to the nearest service centre. They will copy a log file from the device and send to PSD team. They are working on a new update. They will use the FonePad to detect the problem and try with new updates and tweaks which may also damage the phone. If they damage it they will replace the motherboard. But my question to Asus is why don't they test the update on their own device prior releasing an update? Everything is working fine except a basic functionality is calling or sending messages. It's more than a week gone after the update hit the FonePad users. But still there is no solution. Don't you think Asus must refund our money back and take their devices back to test and deploy updatesprior releasing a new update or new model.

  • Asus got back to me and said as it wasn't a physical hardware error on the Fonepad it wasn't under warranty. It would appear that even though OTA was given and ruined my phone Asus feel it's not covered.They said I could send it in to them or else wait for next OTA upgrade!!!!!

  • Asus Fonepad 7 India ME375CL/G. After the 89mb update, all gsm networks working on 1800mhz band wont function. Networks on 900mhz band shall work fine. In Mumbai, Vodafone and MTNL will work fine even after the update. However other network service providers like airtel, idea, reliance etc. won't work since they use 1800mhz band. Hoping a fix asap! Dunno how these stupid people release such updates with bugs in basic functions! Poor product and service!

  • After an upgrade of about 89MB i was not able to get 3g signals. I reported it to ASUS care center and they asked me to reset the tablet. Once i did same i am not able to get 2G signal. I request all users to report same issue to customer care. They always ask you to reset tablet. Do not reset it if you are getting 2g signals.

  • For those who receive the message that the connection to the net is bad or the server is busy and so can't upgrade I found a method on the net that worked for me 1. Go to settings 2. Apps 3. Go to All 4. Down to DMclient and clear data then force stop 5. Restart the tab 6. Back to settings-Apps-All-then CMclient and clear cash and force stop 7. Go and update :-) If this is your first time you'll get an updated jelly bean twice before you get the kit Kat which is what I'm using now :-) Unfortunately every time you go through all this to upgrade Hope this helps

Uninstall your current FB messenger. go to this link. .u.../android/old and download the previous version of fb messenger 9.0.0.15.17 and install it. after installed go to the setting on your apps store and put the setting in to (DO NOT AUTO-UPDATE APPS) and then restart. Same method when the latest version of FB apps didn't work but the previous version is working fine. I hope that can help.

Did a update via Asus proprietory update: that verifies files b4 & after update: the better way to update. Battery lasted 3x days after only 2nd charge: using gps, wi-fi, dual sim, etc. My verdict: if you're a phototgrapher: get a Nikon or a SAM/Appl as fall back. After update and full reset, I inserted SIM and enjoying it a lot for all my needs. Where is my laptop? Pros: -Extremely smooth and fast. No slowdown, no crash, no hang -All the apps including Office, Multimedia, Maps, Utilities, Social, Browsers, etc. are fully compatible and no problem at all due to Intel processor. Great work :) -Hardware is good. Screen quality, viewing angles and colors are great. Buttons feedback is great. Camera (FC & BC) is good only -Apps are moveable/installable to SD Card. USB OTG supported as well -Battery life is great. Continuous usage (browser, Facebook, google+, etc.) lasts for 10 hrs. -Call quality is clear & great. 2G/3G works fine -eCompass & Accelerometer works fine -1080p video recording/playback quality is good. Love Full HD videos much on Fonepad -Built-in apps are mostly good for general use. I love and prefer Asus keyboard on Google keyboard -In KitKat 4.4.2 update, mini apps have been replaced with top menu with buttons to launch calculator, note, memory cleaner and handful of useful shortcuts -Asus ZenUI is simply beautiful -Due to 1 GB RAM, Facebook sometimes becomes unresponsive for 1-2 seconds. I will consider it software glitch as Facebook is too buggy on other platforms as well. All other apps (~50+) are working without any problem. Have also enabled CCleaner Antivirus Cons: -No flash light... :( One shouldn't have high hope of flash light in tablet/phablet -Camera is not good for indoor/poor lighting -Battery charging time is high...takes around 3 hrs. for 20% ---> 100% if one don't use it. Takes 4 hrs. if you use it during charging -Speaker is poor although has good bass. External portable speaker(s) recommended for multimedia usage -Due to weak graphic processor, gaming is not great. 2D and few 3D works good. Heavy 3D games are jerky/slow/hang, e.g., Iron Man 3/Subway Surfer/Dead Trigger works great but sometimes graphic glitches during high action scene Overall 8/10 experience. I will recommend it over Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 because of high hope of future updates as well as great quality

  • There were several floating apps and dedicated soft button in the extreme left of the set of FOUR soft buttons at the bottom of the tablet. With Kit Kat update this dedicated soft button was removed along with the attached apps and now only three buttons can see. If you see the picture on this page also you can see four bottom buttons. Floating apps are very useful while you need to refer a document and do calculation keep looking the content of that document as well as getting notes. Because you can see all together.. on the screen. Asus has not considered to give this feature again yet...! :-( I used these apps before. very helpful

  • Awesome....solved my issue too. Asus Tech support suggested factory reset. This saved losing data and apps. Thanks a lot. Steps - 1) Power-off phone 2) Remove SIM card 3) Power-on phone 4) Go to settings -> Apps -> All -> contacts -> Press CLEAR ALL DATA & CAcHE -> repeat for contacts widget and telephone(callIU) 5) Restart phone and check phone and contacts icons. You should be able to use them now 6) Shutdown again -> reinsert SIM card 7) Reboot phone

  • Hello, after going through so many reviews I have seen people facing lots of problem regarding upgrades from jellybean to kit kit. Here I will discuss my own experience while upgrading to kit kat. After upgrading to KitKat my tab got crashed it took many attempts to boot. Finally when it got boot it stuck but slowly slowly the new OS accepted the hardware configuration and started functioning smooth.

  • With the KitKat update floating apps are removed. This is not fair at all. Gave some grate features once selling the device and then removing those by next update without a single notice!!. I also tried many repair shops but they do not have available parts for the asus fonepad. I was too dissappointed about what happen to my gadget.   • After Kitkat update had same problems (No Contacts or Dialer). A factory reset solved them. But make sure you have backed up everything first. Interestingly AFTER the update and reset 22 apps were then updated so I guess that the ASUS Kitkat update was not complete and thus that was causing the problem

  • Hey guys. I just bought the fonepad 7 ME175CG about 2 weeks ago. It's superb, now upgrading to kitkat. I just want to clarify something regarding the kitkat issues. Ow my device is unroot and running stock os, and I am not installing any launcher, just using the stock one. 1. Issue about stock dialer, contact, and display not functional after upgrading, I am not experience it. My dialer, contact, and display it works as it should be. 2. The wallpaper on the main screen not scrollable as on JB 4.3, sadly it's true. Well that's all, other than that, I experience some laggy performance on kitkat, but it still tolerable.   • The same problem here in Bulgaria. Yesterday asus released an update of 5 mb to the kitkat upgrade and i hoped that was the fix for the mobile network problem. Not, i have no mobile network yet. However i found a temporary way to use it until asus offer an adequate fix. The problem with the network is because the the tablet loses network when it changes the mobile cell while moving. It disconnects from the distant one and cannot connect to the closer one. If you restart the tablet it connects to the new cell and again loses it when you go far from it and again restart...This is the way to use our mobile network for now with the new Kitkat. It is irritating and hope Asus make the fix as soon as possible, because it is awful to restart each 5 minutes if you are on the run. If you are home, there is no problem, because you dont change the cell. Hope this is helpful for you.

  • Encountered phone line dead (x on phone bars) after system upgrade last night. It showed SIM card error in setting-mobile network. Went to Telco and change a new SIM card this afternoon, the line is back except encounter contact has stopped. Can't call out at all.   • Hi, Try my last solution: Go to Settings> Application> All and find Contacts process on the list, one-click and clear all kind of caches. You may also stop app with the button if you wish. Now your Contacts and Telephone apps will be working properly. BTW. Facebook returns life after update:)

  • The new UI looks good, but only in appearance! The previous UI was much more functional. The app tray which opened from the bottom left of the screen is gone, the shortcuts which would pop up if we pressed the home button for a short time is gone, the notification bar is a lot more messy! The only thing good up till now is that it just looks better, nothing else!

  • I got the Kit Kat update today... A good update that brings features like the Zen UI. A very beautiful layout. And the tablet runs smoother then l The ooks ever.. I will surely miss the app drawer background wallpaper that is without much transparency. Because the new one is a bit darker and the app Icons are just too small. Because the app drawers App grid has been shrunk to accomodate more apps per row. It was 5 by 4 previously but now its 6 by 5. UI good though.

I contacted the gsm operator, who tried it on several other fonepads with the same result - dead 3G module. I contacted Asus i i am waiting for their response. If there are users from Bulgaria. Do NOT upate for now! For other countries with the ww version of the software there is a great chance of getting a dead 3G module.Hope this is helpful for many people, who dont want to stay without mobile data.

At 1st applications isn't responsive.. it loads quite long.. but when i updated my android system it fixes everything... i like this phone except for: rear camera 'cause front camera 'for me' is much more better, it gives more resolution. Pros: budget friendly Good processor long battery life I also downloaded games such as: minion rush and nba 2k14. It runs smoothly no problems encountered. I'm using the mobile data while posting this post. ^_^

  • I'm using this device for past one month. So I guessed its time to review this device & to help others in their decision. The xperience I had with this device was just awesome. Had the following options in my mind before buying this Google Nexus 7 II Ipad mini Asus Fonepad 7 LG GPad 8.3 Finally bought this Fonepad 7 which I feel is budget friendly with voice calling,memory slot,front & rear cam. Albeit its a phablet, I'll be using it mostly for reading ebooks,internet and ofcourse mild gaming. Reading ebooks in this device is stunning. It almost replaced my lappy and mobile usage. I bought 16GB internal memory device out of which 11.32GB is user available,which is pretty much gud. From my personal experience, here are pros & cons Pros: * Display is vibrant although glossy(~216ppi better than ipad2). * Wifi& voice reception is quite good. * Unlike Samsung, ASUS doesnt bombed this device with annoying bloatwares(its there but not many). So its gonna be a plain vanila android with li'l customisation. Thanks Asus. * Acquires GPS satellite lock very fast. * Battery backup is 1.5 day with normal usage with mild gaming. * Temple run 2 & subway surfers are runnning butter smooth with no lags at all. * Heavy 3D games are working like charm although it consumes lot of power(battery lasts only for 4-5 hours with continuous gaming,so this is not for heavy 3D gamers) * People find it li'l heavy,but it feels premium, not plastiky as counterparts from other manufacturers. *OTG support & 1080p recording. Cons: * Glossy display(I'd recommend matte screenguard) * Lock screen freezes (rarely) * Hard to find accessories for this device( After long research thru internet,I found Elite accessories 360 degree rotatable case from amazon is quite good& sleeky) * RAM could have been 2GB, since by default,50% is mostly occupied.   • to those that can't send APK files via bluetooth.. here is what you need to do, download this wonderful app by Lenovo called Shareit, you will find it in the play store. you must have an external SD card (microSD card/memory card) in your FonePad device for this to work properly, after installing the Share it app go to the app settings and change the default storage location to External SD card, this will allow you to receive the APK files to the memory card. it looks like the file system on the Fonepad's local SD card does not support or cannot handle certain file types that are send via Bluetooth and APK is one of them. don't waste your time by renaming your APK files, Share it is 10x faster then Bluetooth anyway and is the solution for this problem. thanks to android everything is possible.

  • Take it to asus service center to replace the battery. Or google eBay for replacement parts from china and crack the back cover open, replace it DIY style :)

  • After formatting, Go to settings, apps, find google play service clear data, find google play store clear data. Sign in to play store. Close play store, Wait a bit, like 5minutes or so depending on your internet connection. Let it update to latest version of google play store and google play service, then try again.

  • No direct 3g video calling. Skype only as far as i know. Skype to Skype video call is good and clear over hspa+ network.

  • FonePad will not received any .apk file from any phone or tablet. I try with samsung tab2, samsung s advance, all not working. You need to rename the .apk file to .zip file. Use es file manager just rename "mxplayer.apk" to "mxplayer.zip" then it can be send via bluetooth. After that Use es file manager to rename the received "mxplayer.zip" back to "mxplayer.apk" this is the way i transfer apk file from my phone to asus FonePad. :)

  • Just bought the new Fonepad 7 FE170. So far the feel for this device is average. 1) Overall smoothness is average, sometime it laggy abit. 2) Display also average. When put it in landscape, the viewing angle is horrible, if in portrait, the angle is acceptable. 3) Wifi reception not that good, my Galaxy S2 able to get more wifi bar, compare to this FE170 4) For camera, well its 2MP afterall. crap in low light, acceptable in day light. 5) The battery is OK for its size, heavy usage could get 1 1/2 day with full charge. 6) Browsing is quite good. I used chrome and most of the time it does not encounter any problem loading the web. Quite smooth too. 7) Oh yeah, it support OTG too Conclusion : Well, for its damn low price, you will get average quality in most of its department. You can't ask for more with that kind of pricing. Companion for your job related daily task is ok, companion for your daily life task probably not.

  • My 1st tablet was Motorola Zoom and after that was the galaxy Tab 7plus (p6200) and now I'm using this me175cg...what I can say is, it's a huge leap of upgrade to me. I compared with my cousin's iPad mini, all I can say is the screen look way better, sharper and smoother. When comes to weight, it's lighter than iPad mini and also the galaxy tab 7plus that I've used before. Overall, I felt satisfied using this me175cg. I read a lot especially on pdf magazines and yes, all opened and rendered nicely without any difficulties. WiFi wise also very stable. No disconnected issue so far and playing Fifa14 was a joy with this Intel powered device. Currently I've use this Asus more than I using my own iPad 3. No doubt, when I'm at home, I'll use ipad3 but when I go out, this Asus is my 1st choice. And lastly, the capability of able to make/receive call is truly a big big plus. Only down side is the camera where the quality not as good as my previous gal.tab 7plus and ipad3. Also, if this device ever comes with led flash, I think it's gonna be very very handy but oh well, nothing is perfect in this world :-) cheers!!! P/s: I'm typing this review with my Asus ;)

  • it will NOT receive .apk file via bluetooth from other phone, work around is you use ES file manager, just rename the .apk to.zip, it will send/received .zip format. make sure you install es file manager on both your device. fonepad7 and your phone. on your phone rename the .apk you want to send to .zip then send via bluetooth, when file received on fonepad7 don't open it, go to es file manager > bluetooth folder > find the file that you sent, rename it back to .apk :)

  • I've had it several months and think it's great, it's revolutionised the way I work. Only problems: 1) when on charge the touch screen can become erratic and register ghost touches (so I try not to use when on charge). 2) status bar clock doesn't work (suddenly stopped) and all other clocks erratic at best (not good as never know the time). 3) screen is a fingerprint magnet (solved by using screen protector) 4) no flash for camera, and camera lower quality than my old HTC Otherwise it's great overall but these are irritating niggles

  • I had same problem but use the volume key on the side and push +. you will be asked if you wish to have sound above preset volume. just click OK and go to max. when you go back to setting/sounds you will see the volume bar set at maximum. the sound is then ok with or without ear plugs.

  • got this phablet yesterday.. i previously owned a Samsung Galaxy Tab Plus (P6200) handling: i prefer the fonepad coz of the rubbery feel at the back cover which is kinda great. it feels good to hold and its narrower than the latter so i can hold it better when typing vertically.. runs smoothly.. opening apps and etc.. sound quality is good.. loud enough and because of the curved edges specially on the bottom part, it helps in the production of sound when its laid flat on a table.. its kinda thick though and the top and bottom bezel is kinda big.. thats what i appreciate more about Samsung products.. they should have just placed the home, menu buttons on the lower part just like samsung.. instead, we got the on screen buttons which lessens the use of the screen.. even though its 7 inches, feels like 6.5 inches.. thats one thing that i didnt like.. the camera kinda sucks to.. lol :D same like the ones in my alcatel OT idol mini.. not great but good enough when lighting is good.. the screen is kinda dim.. im using it at half brightness and its kinda not enough.. better make to 60% - 75%.. i just observe awhile ago just before i posted this, the screen in my Fonepad 7 IS NOT CENTERED..!!! i read that right.. ITS NOT CENTERED..!!! its tilted a little bit and i can notice it when u follow the line of the bezel and the line lighting up on the screen if u know what i mean.. the lower left bottom of my screen have like 2mm to the edge and the right bottom have like 0mm.. the top part is even at 1mm each side.. im kinda pissed off.. another thing is the keyboard.. pre installed ASUS keyboard and the standard google keyboard.. it keeps correcting my text even if i turned OFF the word prediction, suggestion, etc. in the settings.. downloaded Perfect Keyboard Free as a result..

  • -Lack of sound output in terms of speaker volume.(The sound quality using razer hammerhead earphone is fantastic) -Performance wise better than Tab 3 lite. -16GB version is the minimum if u want to buy it. -Camera is decent. -Took 2-3 hours to fully charged.(Power Bank is a must if u are heavy internet user)

  • The sound from speaker is low. Get a bluetooth headset with 3.5mm audio jack will improve sound quality or a bluetooth portable speaker :) I personally use a sony SHB-20 bluetooth headset and is works fine.

  • I use the SSK BTK-27 blue tooth headset which has got a 3.5 jack on which I plug my tekfusion twin woofer in ear headphone. The sound is superb and bass is mindblowing. Direct headphone does not give such sound. Also you can change the settings in audio wizard which is not possible when you connect headphone directly.

The display is not as nice as s2 but yet quite good. As Asus says this is a complete device. Battery backup is great.

  • they can be moved but if you play large games (over 1gb) trust me and get the 16gb version. the 8gb has real 4gb and you will find it small because you first have to install them in the device and then move them to the sd. furthermore some games can't be moved and some can't be updated when they are in the sd.

  • I own this and having a lag when accessing streaming on the default browser. Probably because of 720p on the browser. I also get cases of hang and lag sometimes. I attribute this to the lack of RAM. If I am using Youtube, I sometimes get the issue. If I downloaded the movie and used VLC, the video is perfectly fine. My network connection also disconnects from time to time when I am using the browser for streaming. My router is Huwaei HG256s. Flash cannot work properly.. A similar Android 4.3 on Galaxy note 2 can run the same flash APK and works. I am hoping for the next upgrade to Kitkat.

  • Yes. you are 100% spot on. an actual user of asus fonepad 7 :) same as what mine usage is like. so far i don't have any lag issue after updated to jellybean 4.3 i use it to watch hd movie, lite web browsing, no problem with wifi and 3g connections. i got the 16gb model + 32GB sandisk mobile ultra class 10 memory card. it a great tablet for the price. way cheaper compare samsung tab 3 7.0 but with better screen res. i love my asus fonepad 7 :)

  • I bought it around 15 days back, and here's my feedback. 1. It defiently has a heat issue. Within 30 minutes of any kinda usage it gets heated up. No matter if u use it for gaming,watching movies, net browsing or listening music. The whole tablet not gets heated, only a particular area get heated up. The exact location I found at Asus logo embossed area upto the camera region.Even the camera works good when it's heated. But it's also true that it does not effect in performace yet.The tab works fine even it's heated. 2. I dont find the sim slot opening procedure is good. the slot case is not at all hardy. so remove the slot a bit carefully. 3. The charging point is a bit stucking. Not easy push in and push out type like I find in my samsumg galaxy mobile.So I suggest insert the charger /cable carefully as rough and casual aproach may damage the charging port. 4. The tab does not lag a bit. It's really fast. CPU-Z software is showing 4 cores and each having 800MHz clock speed.I think that 1.6GHz intel atom processor has 2 virtual cores even it's said dat it's dual core. I took the update upto 4.3 on the 2nd day of purchasing so I did not face any lagging as reported by other user.I find it quite fast atleast than Samsung Tab 211. 5. Video quality is good. previous tab was not bright. It's really bright. And watching HD videos are really enjoyable. 6. Sound quality is not good I think. The sound card which is used is not good. I came to this conclusion because I am using samsung galaxy s duos fone and i use sony HQ headfone cost around INR. 1000. The bass and loudness is more than I found in asus fonepad7 . I used winamp player in both and came to this conclusion. and speaker volume is not high too. It is hardly audible in noisy place. 7. The gps plotting is real fast and accurate. It does not give u shitty reason like samsung that u have to be in open area. even in ur room u open put on gps and google map it will plot ur location . it takes hardly 5 seconds to plot ur location( I use 3g connection). 8. wi-fi is really fast. truly speaking no matter u use wi-fi or 3g net connection, net browsing is so peaceful. watching videos in youtube is so enjoyable. 9.Now comes to the battery. battery will last one day for normal use. i watched 3 movies of 2hr each in MX player with full brightness and in sound level 25. I started with 100% full battery. after 3 movies still 10% was remaining. which last for 45 minutes around more. so approx 7hr it lasts i must admit.I guess for other use the time may increase or decrese. 10. application can b tranferred to memory card easyly. it has inbuilt option in tab. (settings>application) most of the application is transferable except facebook, whatsapp etc. I got 4 gb internal memory. after upgrading to 4.3 and other applications I have now 3.4 gb remaining. 11. I suggest u to use class 10 memory card of sandisk as it's fast. As i use it. I found no lagging in video or games (which are transferred to sd card). And yes 16gb is not at all available in market. and i think no need of it. as 8 gb cost around INR.13500 with vat, and class 10 memory card of 8 gb is around INR. 475 with vat . so within 14000 u can close the purchase whereas 16 gb tab will cost more. 12. last point OTG. OTG works so good. I just bought a INR. 80 otg cable and it works so good. no matter your pendrive is FAT32/NTFS. both works fine. Even the data transfer rate is much faster than a computer i think. U will realize it urself if u check.Even a mouse , keyboard works perfectly. But yes, USB dongle cannot be used for internet purpose. That tab does not recognize a usb modem.

  • I am big fan of asus but i must say the truth.it really has heat issue. I am using for last 15 days. it's get heated up within 30 minutes of any kind of usage like gaming, watching movies, net browsing, youtube using or listening music. but it doesn't effect in performance during heated state. Sound is not too good. in noisy are i dont find it audible. even in headfone i dont think it's loud. I use a high quality sony earplug cost around INR. 1000.00 when i use it with my samsung galaxy s duos fone i find much better sound.specially the bass. the sound card of asus is not good i think. coz i found the difference in winamp player. in samsung winamp gives much louder and heavy bass sound with that particular headfone whereas asus is not giving the same loudness and heavy bass. i found no problem in other opertion still. No lagging.yes not a bit it lags.cpu-z showing it has 4 cores. i guess 2 cores are virtual. each giving 800MHz clock speed.gps plotting is so damn fast. it takes hardly 4 seconds to locate ur location in map. and it's exact. no matter u r in home or outside. wi-fi is realy fast. even my aircel 3g sim is working fast in this tab. calling mode works fine. but yes google earth cannot be downloaded in this tab as it's showing in google play that this service is not for country. god knows why it's showing. many of my friends using google earth in Kolkata city (India) and i am getting such msg from google play. use class 10 micro sd card for lagless video performance. most of the apps are getting transferred in microsd card except whatsapp, facebook etc. i updated the tab to 4.3 and working perfectly. video quality is pretty good. OTG works great. quite fast to tranfer files from pendrive (to and fro transfer). a mere INR 80 otg cable works perfectly. u dont need to format pendrive in FAT32/NTFS . any pendrive can work well. even mouse and keyboard works fine. Battery gives one day service. but charging must be done if it drains totally. dont charge it even it has 1% remaining battery charge. let it drain out totally. I watched 3 movies of 2 hours each in MX player with full brighhtness and 25 sound volume at a stretch and den 10% was remaining. 10% last around 45minutes more approx. that means it worked around 7 hour continuous use in waatching movies. Other usage like gaming and other thing may increase or decrease the usage time more. hope my feedback is a bit useful for others

  • if you mean a usb thumb drive then yes. it does support USB OTG. I've tested with a cheap 4gb fat32 formatted thumb drive. use ES file manager to browse file it works fine.

  • Yes. before update it will lag. but after 2 update from asus via OTA it will be better. kernel version 3.4.43-00001-gaf5e3ca-android2mec9#1 Mon Feb 17 11:37:59 CST 2014. here what i did about the slow internet on 3g network. check your phone setting in wireless@network > mobile network > preferred network mode to WCDMA only. it will use HSPA+ connection if your network support HSPA+. HSPA+ is very fast in my country. for Wifi connection, try remove your current wifi network from your phone then add your network back again. also try changing wifi frequency from auto to 2.4ghz only. try to see if it work. i also reset the tab to factory setting after update to start fresh. also after factory reset the speakers sound louder. hope this help :)

  • 1- lag every where -_- 2- video call through skype has very "bad" quality and sound issue :/ 3-browsing internet is f***** slow conclusions *intel atom cpu is bullshit in multitasking even in singltasking *not recommended for whose suffers from Unstable Angina,Epilepsy,Blood clot and even Hemorrhoids :)

  • Got my tab this morning. Downloaded a 250mb system update file and updated to 4.3 but no lock screen apps shortcuts :( downloaded another 152mb update file but still the speakers volume is still a bit low.

  • For those who had low speaker volume..Try the latest update..I also had the exact problem but after the latest update (around 125mb) the speaker goes louder..I hope I helped someone.. :)

  • i think it got something to do with the video and audio bit rate. like mp3 at 320kbps sound louder and better compare to 128kbps mp3. i got lenovo tab a3000 same thing happen with lower bit rate video at 720p 30fps it sound softer, when video is a 1080p 60fps high bit rate it sound louder. nothing wrong with the tablet it self. order mine online can't wait to get it on monday :)

  • Thanks for the reply guys, i tried to change the audio settings to movie mode and music but still the same, but when i tried to play 1080p music video gentleman by psy :-) then the music went loud, i guess not all the movies sound the same. I think i have to use headset to listen to the music. Still i am content with my asus fonepad 7, its the best than galaxy tab :-D

  • Haha for the people that doesn't know, Asus fonepad 7 does support native video call.

  • You need to change audio mode to music mode or movie mode from audiowizard. Audio quality is far better than tab 3.

  • Hi friends, as we know that fonepad 7 (me372cg) have not facility of native video call via 3g network, as samsung phones and tablets have. Please let me know, Is there any way to introduce native video call in fonepad 7 (me372cg). Can Asus later introduce native video call in it via software update. or ITS CANT POSSIBLE NOW OR LATER. I Need this feature.

  • I really love my Asus Fonepad 7. Its performance is really awesome and from my opinion it is better than samsung tab 3, especially the battery.

  • Asus fonepad 7 is really the 3rd version , I am in england and have the first fonepad which is good, particularly the battery life, the fonepad 7 isnt sold here except through amazon from german and costs a lot more than india. My 10.1 samsung galaxy tab 3 is very bad battery life. Less than 5 hours. When the next fonepad comes out I just hope they increase the volume and calling quality

  • Its not the asus who doesen't support flash player. Its problem with that new android. You have to find the way to enable flash player on it and you will be able to watch any online video/stream/movies I was able to watch everything on android 4.4.2 but now i have 4.3.3 And still loking for a way to make it work.

  • Hi , all devices are rootable don't worry. Try this program , i used it and it helped me root all my android devices . Just download it adn don't forget to enable USB debugging before you start rooting. Here it is :
