  • Since the second month a bought it I have had issues with it and after 4 months I decided to do a factory reset. It didn't help much. I have it now for 2 years and have had fantasies about smashing it to the walls sooo many times. The camera takes forever to turn on and even then, sometimes it freezes or just close and it requires a phone restart. which it's an inconvenience if you miss a great shot because of it. The apps take long to open and sometimes it's like they have a mind of their own. Would noooot recommend it.

  • This is snapdragon 430 prosesor 1.4 ghz clock. Not different with snap 425 quadcore. Not all aplication use 8 core for running apps. Sometime only 4 core.that why this phone laggy. Because top speed 1.4 ghz. If you want more performance,buy big.little procesor like snap 625.439.450.

  • disappointed! it starts well, then become a problem .. slow as hell, every uptade become worst camera takes sometimes more than 1minute to open, and normally crash.. micro-usb port need to be carefull used the best is the cornilla glass 3, after hard use, never crash the screen.

  • Been using this phone for nearly two years now and I gotta say it's nothing like what most people here complain about. I'm using the 32GB ROM/4GB RAM version and it's nowhere near sluggish. Camera works well but who am I to say since I don't take lots of pictures. I'm not much of a gamer, but I've tried running FIFA and PES and both of them always run smoothly. It doesn't heat up fast, but once it does, it's damn hot I think I can pop some popcorn. Lol. Battery life is pretty normal, lasting about 8 hours from a full charge to 10% on normal usage (surfing the internet and social media). Android 7.1 also runs smoothly in this device. My only problem is charging. It takes 4-5 hours to fully charge from 10-15%. Tried swapping the original charger with one from Samsung, but it ended up even worse. I don't use the original charger anymore since it was broken, but the new one is no better, still taking around 4 hours to charge. But besides that, it's good for an entry-level phone.

I'm having no issues, very minor lags appear in surfing or in light to medium games (light settings graphics). This phone is not intended for gaming, but to do everyday tasks easier and faster. I'm loving this phone since I got this at the price of 150 USD. Trying this on benchmarks, its got 49000+ score, like 1/5 the speed of S9+. For gaming, you should go for the ROG phone or the Asus Zenfone 5z that is faster than Samsung S9+. For other previous comments rhat comment too much on this phone, they should had bought the 4 GB Ram version. I did not modify my camera and it works fast, not that fast because it makes images during recording higher in resolution. One thing I liked about the camera is its Super Resolution Mode, it captures every details with superb quality. In the fron facing camera or the selfie camera, it lags sometimes depending on the range of the phone from a face. I dont care, I dont do selfies or of any kind. Battery drains enough for me, since buying I expected that this goes normal for it has only 3000 Mah of this caliber. Not having more than 3500 mah or more. I do normal battery care, I dont use it since charging, and I take off the charger while not in use. Screen is bright enough with punchy colors, in vivid mode, still outside. Buttons are great to click. Audio is very good in quality, you can tweak it in Asus's AudioWizard Sound Laboratory. Speaker in the front is good and kind of loud enough, good for watching movies, netflix, or others with full of dialogues in the Vocal Mode of AudioWizard. Launching apps in this phone is very responsive, a little click and it starts right away,.not sure with the 2 gb ram. You can play Asphalt 8 airborne here in like 40 fps in default settings, the settings made from a newly downloaded app. Cover Fire in 30 fps, Mineceaft in 40 to 50 fps, Angry Birds go at 60 to 70 fps. Its like a pc with Intel Core i3, 4gb ram, and 980 or Rx580.

  • The first few months, you'll think it's the best phone due the price you got it for. Then later, it just got very slow, with every single application i used. It would heat up after just 10 minutes of going on maybe instagram or just the internet in general. If i were to open instagram and snapchat, it'd just completely lag, and would freeze. I would have to restart my phone very frequently due to the freezes. Dont waste your time/money on this phone unless you're looking for a phone that'll make you happy for 1 year or less

  • I Bought this phone in March 2017. At first 6 months, everything goes fine. But when the upgrades start to come it becomes in the worst cell phone ever I have. The camera really slow, an interaction come really bad. I did wipe cache and doesn't work. Same lags issues in camera and general operation. It is an Asus Zenfone 3 Laser with 2 GB in Ram and 32 storage If some one else have the same problems and fix it please let us know

  • Hi Ak, Perform wipe cache partition and check. Wiping partition cache will resolve any conflicts caused by residual cache from the earlier firmware version.Wiping partition cache will not delete your data. However be careful while doing this procedure and do not accidentally select other options that might delete your data. Do not wipe partition cache often. 1. Switch off the phone by pressing the power button. It will show menu option to turn power off. 2. Press and hold power + volume up button . After it buzzes/vibrates twice leave only the power button. 3. It will boot into bootloader mode after you see the Asus Logo. Toggle to Recovery mode by using the Volume rockers, by default you see Normal Mode . Select it by using the power button. 4. Then the phone will reboot and show error written with Android icon lying belly up. When you see that press and hold power button and press and release volume up button. 5. It will enter the recovery mode successfully and show several options. 6. You will get option to wipe partition cache. Use the volume rockers to move to that option.Select it by pressing the power button.It may take 10 to 15 mins to wipe it fully. Do not reboot during this process even if it takes longer. 7. Once its completed, you will see the menu again. Select reboot after that.

Uninstall apps that are not often used: Settings > Apps > (select an app) Uninstall. 3. Clear cache of apps: Settings > Apps > select apps that may cause malfunction > Clear cache. 4. Launch Play Store and update all apps. 5. Reboot your phone. 6. Update firmware to latest version: Settings > About > System update > Check Update. 7. Access Safe Mode by long pressing power key > tapping and holding Power Off > tapping OK. If your phone works well in Safe Mode, there may be some 3rd apps that cause malfunction. Please reboot your phone and check again if it works well."

  • NOT RECOMMENDED! Although a decent phone, there are a lot of bugs with the software, and thus the phone lags A LOT. Furthermore apps often crash suddenly, especially games, and its overall performance is mediocre, that includes the home, back, and history button, and the fingerprint sensor. PS: There are much more phones that are better out there, at the same price!

  • Worst phone i ever used. Totally disappointed after a year. Log manager keeps on running everyday. The autofocus became nonsense after the update. Too many bugs and lags more often after a year of using it.

  • I must agree with you. For the first 5-6 months everything more less went smoothly. But after updating Android 6 to 7 (and other updates as well) I have a crap instead of phone now. I have the same problem with camera - slow and buggy and it often turns off saying ''no response''. Same issue with other programs and apps. And I am not even talking about Snapchat, maps and other 'more requiring' apps. This phone lags with most of the apps. It highly disappointed me. Don't buy it. I think you can find way more better phones with similar value.

  • Camera wise, it is good for daylight shooting. Video is the worst even with EIS stabilizer. You can only record without panning your camera. Panning will blur the whole recording process making it better not to record any video at the end.

  • I've been using this 4GB RAM version for 1 year. Everything smooth and able to play AOV or Mobile Legends at ease. Only thing laggy is when typing for Whatsapp or any chat app due to low CPU. Occasionally I got trouble with the keyboard suggestion which is broken as I use trace typing which I swipe over the keyboard instead of typing for faster response on messages.

  • I WANTED to love this phone. It's a beautiful handset with an attractive price point, but there were a few factors that led me to upgrade to my current Huawei P10. The first thing is that when upgraded to the most recent version of Android, this phone was unable to complete even the smallest of requests. Even something as simple as opening the browser resulted in several seconds of lag. The screen would freeze, and I often had to restart the phone just to get things running somewhat smoothly again. The camera is another issue. Although it produced nice pictures when it worked, it was so slow and buggy I dreaded using it. My main opinion on this phone is that the RAM and processor are simply not sophisticated enough to do even the tiniest of tasks. Asus makes some fantastic devices, but you'd be better off purchasing a Zenfone 3 or 4 than this.

  • Update: Out of the blue, in the middle of messaging, the touchscreen stops working. Tried the 2 button reset, clear cache partition, and factory reset via the bootloader with no effect. Finally have to take it to a service center today. Really surprised that the touchscreen gives up in 2 months!!!!!????

  • Bought my Asus ZenFone 3 - 2 weeks ago. Battery charge normal, no heating issues and I use the phone extensively. No issue I have is lose of WiFi connectivity. Still troubleshooting issue as I believe it has to do w one of the battery saving apps. I've had numerous phones from Apple, Samsung, BB, all have freeze screens or internet lockup. Overall, for the price - it beats out Apple and Samsung. Not saying it is better. $1000 vs $300 Go figure!

  • This is an amazing phone, lightweight, fast, and the asus stock apps are almost ALL useful. I am getting one day battery life with calling, internet always on, and some gaming. The speaker sound does get distorted at the highest level, however, its applying gain to the sound, which means that if there are sounds which are lower than usual, you will still be able to hear them at proper volume. Dont worry about the negative feedback here. its a good phone. And to top it all ASUS has a feedback system in all of their apps, and they ACTUALLY implement most of your feedback.

  • This phone is absolute garbage. From day one I had issues with it. The screen freezes all the time, the screen moves on it's own most of the time, notifications never go away, so all my icons have 100's of notification dings on them, any time the camera is even opened, the phone over heats, freezes, then shuts down. I'm on my way to return it now, as it's stopped charging properly and keeps blinking out of charge. 0/10 Do not buy this phone. Honestly, please do not buy it.

  • This phone always locks up or restarts. The Bluetooth cuts out apps stop responding. It has a strange metallic/fruity smell coming from the headphone jack ( this is the second phone with this problem as I returned the first one that had the same smell.) don't waste your money. Buy something from a real cell phone company.

  • I have it for almost 2 months. In my country it sold as 4GB/32GB version. My only complaint is the protruding camera. Other than that its a very good phone. What I like most is the battery. This is the first time I have a phone with 3000 mAh battery that last for 2 days before recharge. My phones before this, from fully charged in the morning, will run out of juice the time i get home in the evening.

  • The only con I see is the micro usb. After using the 3.0 charger it's not the same. Otherwise it's a good phone.

  • Yes, it has USB mass storage. As soon as you plug it to the computer, it will promptly for "Using USB file transfer" option. You just click yes and a window will pop up on your computer screen , you can select "open device to view files using windows explorer" option. There you can do normal file transfer. I have been doing this on my Asus Zenfone 3 laser and have no problem.

Like From camera zenfone 3 laser has better camera sensor from sony imx214, it can shot sharper image and good in natural color. The best is you can close up shot with beautiful bokeh effect.   • Yes you can use USB mass transfer . As soon as you plug your Zenfone 3 laser into the computer, it will prompt you whether you want to transfer files to the trusted computer. If you click yes, it will install the driver into the computer automatically and you can choose what you want to do . I have transferred many audio and pictures files from the computer to this device without using the share link already . Maybe it is your computer which does not install the proper driver that is why you cannot use that function. Hope this help.

  • Be warned - this phone is absolutely terrible. I rarely enter comments on products but this product is so bad, I had to. I initially bought the phone due to decent specs, but the software is absolute crap. You cannot use the phone like a usb mass storage device so you have to use the Asus sharelink app. This app doesn't work most of the time and you have to pair the 2 devices like 1998 technology. There is no drag-and-drop function so you have to manually select the photos or files that you want to transfer. Once you do, the transfer gets auto-cancelled 90% of the time. I won't be buying Asus again, and this is a warning to others that the Asus software negates any spec advantage this phone might have had over any other mid-range phones.

  • IMO, the most fingerpint problems is about ppl dont change the finger position during the recording process, using the just a litte part of the fingerprint. So, first tip, change positions at each finger you are save (there are 5 savings), also, sencond, you can save the same figerprint (the finger you use the most) as other fingerprint, got it? For this second case, the touch will have almost 20 ways to read one single finger. Its not (usually) the software ou hardware problem, but the way ppl use to save the fingerprint. Dont save just the top, or the midlle or the bottom, save the maximum positions at the saving process. Just a tip.

I just bought ZF3 laser last two days and so far I feel quite happy to this phone. 1) 4GB ram: Sufficient for me to use at least 2 years, I'm not changing handphone regularly due to money concern. 2) 32GB internal memory: I have to use 2 sim cards, so no space for storage extension, and system will occupied about 6-8GB, if I get a 16GB internal memory unit I will get stuck in photo and video storage. 3) Camera: Fast focus, the rest still under testing. 4) Battery: Moderate using may last at least 1 day. 5) Design: I choose gold color, looks nice. 6) Function: Recommand to try the zenmotion and zengesture, which help a lot. (Tips: Press and hold to enter in the setting page) 7) Finger print: So far OK. 8) Call quality: OK. 9) ZenUI: Very GOOD because simple. 10) Asus apks: Recommand to try, useful and user friendly. You may feel different in others brand phone bloatware. I used ZF5 before this unit, is good (Only battery cannot last long but still tolerable for normal user). During I survey the handphone, mostly recommeded OPPO, none of them ephasis ASUS, same as last time I bought ZF5. I think ASUS marketing strategy quite different with others and zenfone still not very popular among the market. I choose ZF3 laser this time because the resonable price and higher spec among the same price range phone. Zenfone give me the feel that like those budget user (especially student) who lack of money to upgarde computer, who want to improve performance can only maximum utilised the efficiency of hardware.   • About using it for 3 months, the battery start to have battery draining problem. On mobile data, u can see the battery percent drop while using it. If u check the phone time frequently it was horrible, every time u turn on the phone's screen the battery percentage changes. I not sure why this happen and now I am going to calibrate the phone by drain the phone battery to 0% and charge it to full. (I always do this but I didn't charge the phone by 0%, I do this by restarting the phone when the battery is fully charged.)

  • Very good phone. Compare to oppo f1s or J7prime, this phone the cheapest on with higher spec and very slim. This phone come with FHD while f1s doesn't. F1s has very basic problem with Bluetooth connection and keep disconnecting, while zf3laser works well with this.

  • Hey there is no way to official way to remove bloatware, if you want you can disable them to increase storage & disabling that App will reduce the App background running process & they will not generate cache.

I've got the zenfone 2 4G/64G model. ...they really can't be compared at all - totally different chips. ...my zenfone 2 is a little faster, but it was $100 more; it's also bigger/plastic and the battery life isn't great - and it came with more bloatware ...the zenfone 3 laser - so far seems much more "polished"; nice to be metal - and battery seems much better... and camera seems better/faster but haven't tested it much I'd trade her phones but she won't go for that.... Some people say the zenfone 3 laser is overpriced compared to some cheaper samsung or oneplus models.... well not in Canada - those other phones are quite a bit more here... ...so for $279 in Canada, the zenfone 3 laser seems to be a pretty good deal to me

  • I've got mine last week, so far so good as the battery may drain overnight because it's not entering deep sleep mode, after some day it turns out great and saves a lot of power overnight. What I need to said is the screen just looks a little blueish in white (I miss my amoled display), the speaker didn't sounds that good (some software problem) and the biggest problem is the vibrate motor. I think it has a weak vibrate motor. Sometimes it will not work and result in buzer sound from speaker. I had to restart the phone to solve it.

  • Maddy and anyone else concerned about speakers: - At first out of the box, the speakers sound awful and muffled like you were half covering the speaker with your thumb or something. It was brutal, and I was scared it was a hardware issue and the speaker was garbage. But rest assured, that's not the case. - Sadly ASUS messed up on the software end by making the speakers APPEAR crap due to the lack of proper equalizing by default. The most recent ASUS update tries to patch this by adding an "Outdoor mode" button to the volume rocker menu, and this is somewhat an improvement, but there's a better way to fix it. STEPS I TOOK TO FIX SPEAKER AUDIO: 1. Go to the inbuilt app "AudioWizard" 2. Click the "Music" button first, and then click the "Advanced Effect" button at the bottom. 3. Up the bass to a high-ish level 4. Up the treble to near-max 5. Leave "Dialog Enhancement" in the "OFF" position 6. Click the EQ tab at the top 7. Arrange the equalizer settings, mine are in an upward rising position until the end then it's straight downward.   • Ive just buy it and im confuse on camera compare to my old lg g4 has got bootloop. Since test to mod the g4 to still work but more random restart... ive still compair side by side and the camera of this phone isnt good.   • I feel like you're exaggerating. I don't get why are you talking as if this phone is as expensive as iPhone or Samsung Note series. Look at the specification on the misc section the price was grouped in 6/10 while the iPhone and Samsung Note series were in the 9/10 and 8/10 respectively. But, well, if you're saying that on Zenfone 3 Deluxe and Zenfone 3 ZE552kl, I will have to agree with you 'cause those two are really expensive.   • It all boils down to your preference. As for myself I'm waiting for the Zenfone 3 Laser. The advantages of the laser against the P9 lite: - cheaper - bigger internal storage (32GB v 16GB) - bigger RAM (4GB v 3GB) - bigger screen (5.5 v 5.2) The P9lite however runs on a higher CPU. But when I got to you tube, the difference between their performance is NOT that big. Almost no difference at all. Plus, the Snapdragon 430 (Z3 Laser) is doing quite well, not the best, but seriously just close behind the Kirin 650 (P9 lite). The wait, for me, is worth it. It's just a shame though that the Laser doesn't come in black.

  • This is the best phone you're ever gonna get for it's price. VIVO is a tad too expensive. Oppo is also a bit more expensive. With the specs and price out of the way, we fall on the brand name. ASUS Zenfone started going to the top the moment it's Zenfones came out, like a dark horse amidst the iphones, xperias, and galaxies. Now it's at par with them. ASUS has been around for a while too. Now, Xiaomi seems like a fair competitor, but I personally would put more trust in a brand name that I already know and has been around longer. My laptop's an ASUS. My wife's laptop is also an ASUS. So far, we're happy with those.

  • Snapdragon 430 is at only a level below snapdragon 625. It performs better than the 615,616,and 617. Read the specs carefully and you'll see that the 61x series are powered by adreno 405 and the snapdragon 430 is powered by adreno 505. The adreno 500 series are currently used only by the snapdragon 430 and snapdragon 820 (and the new best snapdragon 821)
