Prasad, You don't need the service center. What you need is: 1. Go to Asus Zenfone Max support site here: On the menu choose Android, then on the firmware section and download the latest system which at this moment should be this: Version WW 8916-13.8.26.110 dated 2018/03/05. Yes it is 1.52 GBytes large file and download to PC might take some time. 2. You will then need to copy this big file onto a microSD card. After copying the file to microSD card, insert the micro-sd card into the phone. 3. Then press power button and volume down button simultaneously and hold it for a few seconds until the phone shows the recovery screen. 4. Use the volume button to move up and down and the menu and choose the option to update system from microSD card. 5. Select the system file that you download that is on your microSD card. 6. When done updating and reboot. Voila. This video from YouTube shows step 3 onwards. Hope it helps....

My daughter gave this phone to me in 2018. At first all works fine, however I encountered problem. All the home buttons are not working. It is good there is a one hand operation that I can use. I was most curious about this one, because my specs were that it has 4G, 16GB internal memory (minimum), and a good battery life. I purchased one in Malaysia 3 years ago, and I am still using it. Both front and rear cameras give a clear picture, but, of course as I have downloaded app after app (some becoming obsolete), the internal memory has filled up. I find the dual SIM a good idea, but it's best putting the second into a basic additional phone to supplement and support 3G calls. A novel idea if you have a SIM from 2 countries, and don't want to swap the SIM cards in the phone as you travel. I do enjoy the 'clock face' features in its jacket, which are not available in Australia (where I live) and will keep using it while it works. Overall good value for money, but not available in Australia.

One thing for sure. The device itself eats 3/4 of your internal memory's storage and ram usage. No wonder why did make that. The zen ui makes you ignorant for purchasing themes and other stuff to make profit for it while your device keeps lagging like hell. I've been using this since 2016. i love how the battery works for houra... it's awesomely last... Excellent!! Thumbs up for that. My only issue's that when everytime i used it in video recording it fails my expectation. . . ive been in a concert and i recorded it in video and the result was annoying. The sounds oh my.. Few days ago after software update of Asus Zenfone Max ZC550KL, there is Tower Network problem in the phone. Now the phone shows very low/minimum towers and voice drops during calls. Now using this updated phone is very irritating and annoying. Friends complain too much about voice during calls. This is first time problem with Asus after software updates. Great phone while it lasted, battery goes two days without charging but the performance is slightly slow. Lasted 1.5 years with frequent drops until the screen mysteriously broke, I suspect internal shorting.

I also found that lenovo P2 and K6 has ant+ radio too. :) I think there is more phones that support it. I riding a bike with lenovo P2. After 10h tour with IPBike app I have still 50% juice. Awesome.

I I was a very surprised that this phone has ant+ sensor! It is not noted in the description, but I installed ant+ software and checked. I connected all my ant+ sensors to Strava and very happy :-) I've been using this phone for 2 years and I'm very satisfied. Camera is not good in the dark, but in the normal daylight conditions camera is good enough to take a good picture.

Has been using this phone for 2 years. It is still alive and kicking although i accidentally drop it to the floor with its screen facing down.. almost everyday. I really love this phone, its like bullet proof. (Ofcourse, i have tempered glass and jelly case on) I understand that it is not a perfect phone though. Here are my issues with it: 1. Cannot use it while charging - it lags a lot 2. Whenever we have a video chat, my face deforms a little on the video (especially in the corners), like its lens is built from fish eye. 3. Heavy phone 4. Camera in low light is so bad, like you have to wait until it detects and brighten up the object to capture. Those are just my issues. But it didnt bother a lot since i am not a camera-geek.

Weight is the only drawback of this model, rest all specs are good to this price and especially gorilla glass 4 is the best thing in this phone. This so-called phone is not worth more than a basic keypad mobile because it is not reliable in performing basic functions like dialing and answering calls. After two months of usage, the software crashes every now & then and hangs consistently while trying to make or receive calls. Anyone calling to this phone always hear busy tones. Attempting call to a contact comes back with the dialing screen minutes after placing the call. Many more issues to report. I would not recommend this phone/asus brand even to my enemies.

AVOID BUYING IT, though, as the GPS antenna contacts are badly designed and after less than 6 months from purchase it stopped functioning. What's worst is that those who tried to reach out for ASUS assistence got either cheated (factory reset phone for a broadly known hardware issue? Leave your phone to assistence center for 2 weeks with no replacement?.. aren't we in 2017 ???) or did not get a proper solution. Really hate this phone and regretted buying this. Had this phone for more than half a year. The long bettery time is just a first 3 months, then, it drops down fast. Touch screen sometimes goes cuckoo. At times it responds to the slightest touch, and at times won't respond even when tapped hard. SD card not support fully There is s problem with software, it does not have option to set SD card as default storage, talked to Asus customer care also, but they also replied there is no option. What I have done immediately updated my firmware just after switch on my phone, So any body purchasing this may try without upgrading the firmware. Many apps could not be able to trace SD card, if at all some app able to locate the SD card but , does not support. But luckily camera support SD card , you have to do it manually. You can keep videos and files , which will be operational, no problem. Other things OK , so you can buy. Hope in future Asus will update firmware to correct the small problem

yeah but I don't want to root my device though. I don't even know if ASUS would care to release a Nougat update for this phone. my main issue for the 6.0 OS is the burst shot. you can't do it using the 13MP resolution and also the receiver of the phone is too low. I could barely hear the person talking to me from the other line. and I already asked help from others but no one would even answer. LOL but the camera of 5.0.2 is much more better than the camera of 6.0.1. I don't really know if that makes any difference. LOL :)

Bought this phone 8 months back.. Still now didn't notice any major drawback. Major Pros -Huge battery backup -build quality - zenui - no heating even after heavy use - frequent system updates (I bought in lollipop it was upgraded to marshmallow and later LTE was added in an update) Cons: - processor - lots of bloatware (u get only 10gb internal storage even after disabling them) - charging time (4 hours approx. for a full charge) The mobile started to lag before a month as I almost ran out of internal memory. After clearing out some space it was better.. But I later found that the major culprit was the launcher. So I changed to another launch (Arrow launcher from Microsoft) and now its really cool.. No lags or hangs..

the phone is in boot loop. try to download the OS at the website, paste it on your SD Card (just outside the SD Card, don't put it in a folder), shut the phone down, go to the recovery mode, install the OS you download and then factory data reset.

On my observation, my number one problem here is the GPS Navigation. When I'm starting to use my Waze Application, it always shows "No GPS. Showing approximate location". But when I screen locked my Zenfone Max while running Waze App on background, the voice navigator starting to speak when or where will I turn. I'm saying is that Waze App will work by the voice navigator but you can see the map because obviously the screen is locked, and that's the way were you can only run the waze app by following the voice only.

only 1 issue with camera. after 4 months of use camera app is way too slow as compared to Samsung & sony phones.. Camera app takes ages to open. Autofocus not working and have to manually tap to focus, focusing for outdoor shooting is awfully slow. i really hated the product and its service. i bought this product on 6th February, 2017 and it got damaged on 17th February, 2017. Its was kept in my bag, in which a little amount of water (from an almost empty bottle) was leaked, to be very specific the bag was made of jute, still the product caught moisture and service center took diagnosis fee of Rs.500 and 2 days later told me that the motherboard of the phone is damaged, i had been using moto e since 2 years, it got wet in rain but never got damaged and there is this asus with flower like delicate motherboard with such minimal contact with water got damaged. what a failure in terms of technology.This amount of moisture is expected at any moment, but company claims that water damage is not covered under warranty, so a phone that cost me 10,000 got damaged within 2 weeks of buying it for such a trivial reason. i have no idea how other customers are giving positive reviews as i really do not believe in those reviews, i am extremely disappointed with the product. And that's not the end of the story, the repair cost is even greater than the phone, they gave me the estimate of repair and it was more than Rs. 10,000. Like seriously? You think we are that stupid? I am totally done with Asus and wont let anyone I know buy anything from this company.

I got VoLTE on my ASUS ZENfone Max after their latest software update on 21-01-2017. There is a bug though wherein some times the VoLTE gets disabled on it's own and needs a restart to get enabled again. The VoLTE feature works fine with reliance Jio SIM. check call without APP and it is working. Battery backup is approx 2 days once charged with 4G always ON and I am moderate user (Not a game player).

Terrible phone that I ever used, below are the cons that I cannot put up with: 1. GPS is not smooth or not working (Very rare to see it is working). You will be having terrible GPS navigation experience when you are using the phone. EG: You will hear 'GPS signal lost' frequently from Google Map and 'Searching for GPS network' in Waze all the time. 2. Data hotspot malfunction. Sometimes, when I open the hotspot, the network tends to be crashed. Everytime I faced this issue, I have to restart my mobile. 3. Facing lagging issue frequently when playing the game or taking phone (no longer laser shooting). sorry noob user here, where to find Bluetooth visibility on this phone? bought this yesterday and I was torn between this and the 5.5 3 max but decided to get this since I came to realize i'm not not heavy gamer(you know those graphically intensive games since i'm a pc gamer.. :D ) and that only calls, text, light web browsing is what I usually do to a phone.. Remove the simcard and re-insert it back while the device is on, if its still persisting then have the simcard removed and turn the device off and insert the sim back while turning it on. I've experienced this before from my previous device and that made it stop doing like that, if it still persists then factory reset will be the final option but do call service centers before doing so to be provided with an alternative solution.

I am using it for the last 3 months. My opinions are Battery - 5/5 Lasts 2 days even with heavy usage. With medium usage u can make it run for 3 days. Camera - 4/5 Good camera if u know how to use. Just dont click in auto mode. Click pictures in respective modes corresponding to environments to get good pictures. Display & touch - 4/5 Both are good considering the price point. Multimedia - 4/5 Plays mostly all formats of audio/video without any stutter or hanging. Audio loudspeaker is a bit disappointing but decent. RAM & Speed - 4/5 No major hanging problem while running heavy apps. I run a normal of 6 to 7 apps in background normally. In first boot u will have about 1.1 GB free. 4G data usage is awesome Asus keeps u updated with frequent software updates also. I have did as much as 5 updates till now.

In my zenfone max 4g jio signal reception is not good comparing to other mobile. 4g signal is lost after 1/2 min and then reconnected automatically within 1 or 2 sec. This repeatition is happening frequently. It distubs to jio voice call I have checked it by comparing with INTEX AQUA 4G, & SAMSUNG J2 at the same location. In my zenfone max 4g jio signal reception is not good comparing to other mobile. 4g signal is lost after 1/2 min and then reconnected automatically within 1 or 2 sec. This repeatition is happening frequently. It distubs to jio voice call I have checked it by comparing with INTEX AQUA 4G, & SAMSUNG J2 at the same location. Network unreachable problem is only happen in zenfone max.. Can anyboy tell me . . Is this type of problem happening into your mobile also.

It's the best phone in 10k budget. The saddest part is that it doesn't support 4g VOLTE... If you want good internet service then this is the best phone ever but if you want unlimited free calls provided by JIO then don't think of buying this.

My request is nobody should buy this phone. This is due to: 1. Phone is over heating. We cant make calls or browse up to merely 2 minutes. It will heat like the burning iron. I am experiencing High radiation. Ears will feel to have pain and irritating. 2.It s said to have the battery is 5000mAh. But i think it is only 500mAH. It will stand only for 2 hours. Moreover, it will take more than 5 hrs to full charge and 2 hrs to dispense the charge. 3.Over weight. We cant keep it our pocket due to over wieght. The company is claiming that the weight is due to 5000mAh battery. Battery is the worst one. 4.Phone will shut down while talking or while browsing. 5.5 MP camera of Sony is better than 13 MP camera of Asus Zenfon Max. Many more defects. My humble request is nobody should by this phone. I have committed a Himalayan mistake. Request you not to commit it.

Hi there, im a zenfone max user too, but i never encounter the same problem. maybe u should check if the lcd is still ok. Try entering the recovery mode by pressing power and volume down. if u can see the texts, ur lcd is ok, and u can do the factory reset. Hope this will help you:)

Initially I was happy after buying this phone. As I go on using I came to know a major bug. The proximity sensor turns on as you pick a call. But if take away the phone to check the details while u r still on call the phone doesn't lit up. It also has connectivity issues. Ain't support gps trackers efficiently. Phone do heat up during a long duration call but not to unbearable extent. It takes 5plus hrs to charge it completely. Gorilla glass as they claims doesn't really seems like one.I got the big scratch on screen after a small bump on the table. Never dare to take the phone out from whatever cover you use.

I purchased Asus Zen Max without having any idea about the brand or its performance as my earlier, much hyped Xiaomi Mi4i mobile suddenly went dead. I am now very proud of my decision as the phone is excellent in all aspects except that it will take longer to get fully charged. I have the zenfone max which i bought last may. It works really great since i bought it but after i updated using the latest firmware its now running slow and charging has been slower as well. Already tried resetting and re downloading the same usual apps but still the same. I guess its true that they cripple the phone once a new once comes in compelling you to upgrade.

I regret buying Zenfone from ASUS company and would never suggest anybody to buy phones from this brand.The dealer provides defective pieces to the customer and do not agree to change or replace the sets.On the other hand if the set is sent to customer care for repair then he is asked to pay exorbitant charges for repair and what is the purpose of giving guarantee and warranty.The company is harassing the customer and making money by wrong means.

Pls. do your homework again and DO NOT misguide others. Hint- check ASUS website/forum. None of the zenphone 2 series support 4g voice calls.Only some zenphone 3 series support VoLTE. I think zenphone 2 series would never get VoLTE update due to some hardware limitations(but not sure).So, I provided this info to others. I myself bought believing it to be 4g but it does not support VoLTE.I am neither a fanboy nor hate ASUS phones.Phone is good but If you want to use reliance 4g then buy the zenphone 3 or some other VoLTE supported phone.

Here is the status. Battery condition is very good even if you are gaming on it it will last for whole day . Camera is very good if you are good in photography. But in low light the camera eats the whole ram . And freezes. But it must be software issue may be sort out in next update this issue relates to marshmallow I think as memory leakage may be the problem.. else every thing is good if you want to buy ..go for 3 gb ram version ..mine is 2gb with sd615..

ASUS ZEN FONE: MUST READ BEFORE BUYING: On January 5, 2016, I opted to buy an unlocked Zenfone 2 in lieu of a Samsung Galaxy note 5 because for the past 12 years, I was extremely satisfied with all of the Asus computers brand that my wife and I owned and decided to give their phone a try. During the first four month of phone use, I noticed that the GPS signal would suddenly drop and could not be turned back on unless I rebooted the phone. On the sixth month of use, the phone became completely unusable. The screen would either respond erratically or would not respond at all. I called Asus and they gave me an RMA to send the phone to their warehouse for repair. I was advised that the turnaround time would be two weeks. On August 22, I sent the phone via USPS and was given a tracking number. Because I was advised by Asus that my repaired phone would be returned within two weeks, I did not bother to do an online check on the repair status. On September 5, while I was out of town, I went on the Asus site and was very surprised to see that the repair status notation showing "phone not received". I called Asus and told them what had transpired within the previous two weeks and after waiting for about 45 minutes, I was told that they did not receive the phone and the case would be escalated and I would be called within 24 to 48 hours. The next 48 hours came and went and no call was received from Asus. Upon returning home in the next few days, I called Asus and gave them my tracking number and told them that my phone was delivered to their warehouse on August 26, 4 days after it was mailed. Once more, I remained on the phone for another 45 minutes after which I was told that the warehouse had made a mistake on processing the RMA and this is why they did not locate the phone. Once more, I was promised a call back within 24 to 48 hours for an update. Once more, the 48 hour call never came. On September 10, upon checking the repair status on the Asus web site, the notation shown was: "phone received on September 9, 2016". I thought, at least, it is acknowledged on their site that the phone is in their hands. On September 14, I received the phone via FedEx and took it to my phone service provider to have the sim card programmed on it. I was told that the phone I just received does not have the same serial number as the previous one (that was sent for repair) and could not be programmed because it is locked. Once again, I called Asus and explained the situation to them. I requested to have this phone replaced with their newest version of the Zen fone 3 because my research also indicated that screen problem is a recurring problem for many ZenFone 2 owners who had to send their phones for repair on several occasions for the same screen issue. The customer service rep calmly lied to me by telling me that the Zen Fone 3 is not out yet as I am seeing it for sale now on Amazon. This $300.00 Zen fone of mine is about to become an expensive paper weight as I cannot use it because it is locked. Once again, I am supposed to receive a call within 24 to 48 hours. ALL OF A SUDDEN, MY LOYALTY FOR THE ASUS BRAND HAS FADED.

I had hang problem but could solve it simply by doing soft reset! Here's what you should do! Step 1: Press and hold Power Button and touch Power off the menu to shut down your mobile device. Step 2: After complete shut down remove the back cover, battery, SIM card and SD card. Step 3: Wait 15 seconds and put all removable things. Step 4: Turn on your mobile device.You have successfully completed soft reset.

This mobile is one of the worst handset i have ever seen in my life.from 1st day it started hanging when i have visited to service center they have not provide any service even after when i have complain online then yesterday Asus call center person has call me and asking what was the issue when i have started telling the issue she saying y u r changing the wallpaper and even y u r going in setting.And when i have ask we cant change brightness she saying in different attitude that u have to use that type only.....this is very cheap language so friend dont buy any Asus Product....

Im using this phone, so far i sooo loooove it. Not laggy and im loving the camera. So accurate when i use social apps.. I dont know where the bad reviews come from. I totally love the phone, a friend recommend it to me and no hesitation of buying it since he himself loves the phone.

I agree. I have this phone and it is what it is. A no nonsense midish smart phone with 2 sims and a dedicated SD slot that lasts and lasts with regular use. I do not also need to lug around a powerbank like every second iPhone user. I have trouble recalling if it ever hung, maybe once when I forgot to close lots of apps. The most stupid comment from the other person is about how long it takes to charge the battery. Hello?! Do you expect to charge a 5000mAh battery in the same time as a 2500mAh battery. I guess you must be charging your power bank as well? The only issue I have had with it is when using the camera and finding out later that some pictures did not save. I have yet to try a different SD card to see if the problem was with the camera or the card.

Dude I think mistakenly comparing Asus Zenfone Max 410 with 615 .. 410 was haveing many issues... Bt 615 improved a lot ... Heating I played Nova 3 for 5long hour with out anylag and the final temperature was arroung 35 degree Celsius ; regarding music audio output through headphn improved a lot asus fixed the bug which is still exist in 410 varient .. heavy usage the 5000 mh last for 1.5 days.... I am not promoting a brand ... And I usually don't comment but when people start to misled others . Have to correct .... In case if you faced any problem that surely you brick your device.. nothing else to say

I used this phone for 4 months. I using it for my business. I received a hundred message whatsapp and sms in one day. And this phone get to hang. Frequently need open whatsapp in 2 minutes and still whatsapp it's not responding. So I think, this phone need to upgrade the chipset and memory RAM.

Bro can u tell me how to use battery saver mode in which background data would get disabled and we no longer get notifications for whatsapp or hike .There is a power saving mode but our data connection get disabled if we switch on that mode. Like other phones there is simple option available in batter saver to block background notifications when we r using internet unless we open specific app we dont get notification...pls help

Not the best....but good enough 3. The screen got Gorilla glass 4 protection 4. Very easy and user friendly UI 5. Good voice quality 6. Good processor...can play moderate level games lag free. Cons.... 1. Too many pre installed applications 2. Heavy weight 3. Update to marshmallow is not bugs free Overall performace is very decent and most of the users will b happy after using this phone. This phone definately delivers a good overall performance and user experience.

Actually you need to stop all auto start apps.Just go to auto start manager on your phone and choose deny for auto start for all apps.I did try and its works!No more draining battery.

Hi, I bought Asus Zenfone Max with 32GB ROM and 2 GB RAM 2 days back. Android version: 6.0.1 and software: WW_8939_13.8.26.36_20160624. I have charged it for 8 hours on 1st charge. I have kept it in Power Saving Mode, Screen brightness set to level 0, Recent Apps are closed, Auto-start Manager is On. I have used the phone for 5 minutes with 3G ON and battery level dropped from 100% to 96%. The battery drops by 2% even when phone is kept idle (screen off, cellular data off) and phone heats up. I have not received any calls. Not played music and videos. Have not played games. Have just used facebook, watsapp and twitter. And the battery lasted for approximately 2 days. I had charged it to 100% on 10th August at 8am and it drained to 10% on 11th August at 9pm. Is the battery draining quickly? Is it normal or there is battery issue? I have read in some of the reviews that the battery lasts for 3 to 4 days for the average usage. But my Asus Zenfone Max lasted for 36 hours for average usage. Thanks and regards
