  • I have had the same issue happen to me a couple of times throughout the year. Everytime I fixed it by hard resetting the phone from the boot loader. Instructions here (https://www.hardreset.info/devices/vivo/vivo-v3­max/hardreset/first-method/) I do not use fast charge, the problem occurs when I use fast charge function with various other aftermarket charger with no fast charge function. So Turn fast charge OFF.

  • Really surprised!!! Vivo typically provides OTA updates for 2 years from release date which for V3Max is April, 2016. As such I believed there will be no updates after April, 2018. However 9 months down the line yesterday I received an OTA update on Jan, 2019 !!! The new PD1523F_EX_A_2.8.16 (69 MB) brings following optimization: 1) Improved system stability 2) Optimized compatibility with third-party apps 3) Improved the file cleanup efficiency of the phone to provide more available space After update did not notice any change in performance. OTA update is stable. However I believe they have changed the memory management with better cleanup efficiency.

  • I've been using this phone since June 2016 till now and it still perform flawlessly. I've dropped my phone on the road, from a high place and everywhere else and the only thing that cracked was my screen protector. Everything else on the phone was still in good condition. There's this one time I drop my phone in the drain for about ~15 minutes. The moment I pick it up the phone still light up and can be used. The battery also last very long. I usually charged my phone only once everyday despite using data, on the internet and everything, it didn't really drains the battery much. I played songs for 8 hours straight and the battery didn't even budge. I still haven't change my battery up to now since I bought it. The fast battery charging though is a bit slower compared to when I first bought it but it went to around ~50% in less than an hour of charging. Overall I am very satisfied with the phone. I never think of changing the phone despite all the heaps with the new phone coming. I'm going to use this phone till there comes a time where I had no choice but to change it.

  • This phone disproves the general assumption that fast charging eats away the battery. Prior to this phone, I had owned a lot of smartphones with normal charging. Their battery had to be replaced after almost a year at max. However, I'm now using Vivo v3max for more than 2 years and the battery may be a bit slower than the day I purchased the phone, it is still solid enough as it lasts more than a day and gives much better performance than my partner's Samsung S8. My phone still charges so fast that I'm used to it and I won't even consider phones without fast charging tech.

  • been using Vivo V3 Max for more than two years and still no issues, bought for Php17,000.00 and really worth the penny, unlike my former phone, Sony Xperia 3 Compact which super expensive, bought for (Php34,000.00), and the life span didn't even reach two years, a really big disappointment and waste of money. So I learned my lesson the hard. tsk! Vivo V3 Max is a good buy, the only downside is its hybrid slot for memory card and sim 2.

  • I'm also using Vivo V3 Max for over 2 years now. Just came here to comment how amazing this phone has been. Especially given its price, it really surprised me as for me it actually performed better than the flagship Samsung, HTC, Sony and other phones I had bought prior to this. It never froze, nor restarted ever. It did not even hang at all. The fingerprint sensor is just awesome and the best thing is its battery and fast charging, which even after 2 years of use is still working great. Not to mention its premium looks as the phone does not look so cheap as it actually was. These days people praise OnePlus, Xiaomi Pocophone and others etc as flagship killers, but for me this phone killed my desire to go after flagship phones anymore. Vivo V3 max price was even much less than the price of these so called flagship killers these days. Goes to show how much margin even the supposedly budget phones are making now.

The only downside though was battery (already need to be replaced) due to 2 years of extensive use. Nevertheless, it was still a great phone.

My ipega game controller even surrendered first after too much gaming. really worth it but i just don't trust the mew releases from vivo, they are more incloned to selfie cameras now.

  • I disagree with most of your comments after using my Vivo V3Max for nearly 2 years. 1) I never experienced screen freeze on my V3Max. 2) V3Max uses a very powerful Snapdragon 652 SoC, which is built on older 28nm fabrication process. It delivers performance but is power hungry, also heats up. So yeah on heavy usage my V3Max ends the day with 4 to 5% juice left. Luckily fast charging is supported and in just an hour of charge will give you 75% battery. 3) I admit the Funtouch OS is not of everybody's taste, far from pure Android experience and a shameless copy of Apple iOS. But the software is very stable & never crash. 4) V3Max rear camera is just OK. My Vivo V5Plus have much improved rear camera. Vivo X5Max had the best rear camera of all the Vivo phones released in India.

  • Most of the time the screen of Vivo V3 Max will be freezon for few seconds. Battery drain out very fast on second year onward. Vivo V3 Max is using their own software Funtouch which is not reliable. Camera is fixed with filter which means if u want capture original natural scene, this phone will automatically beautify it with a filter. You have no choice to not opt for it.

  • I own a Vivo V3Max. If you take my personal opinion I think it will never receive an Android version upgrade. Vivo typically provides OTA updates for 2 years from date of release which is April, 2016. As such I believe there will be no updates.

  • Vivo V3Max is a very performance oriented, solid mobile phone. I used it for almost a year and passed it to my wife. It still performs flawlessly and my wife have no complains. However I believe V3Max will never get Android Lollipop to Marshmallow upgrade. Saying that Vivo is still pushing OTA updates to V3Max with regular security patches and software optimizations.

  • I believe Vivo revised its Android version upgrade policy from 2017 onward. As such any top tier Vivo phone released from 2017 will get at-least 1 version upgrade. V3Max is a phone from 2016 and it did not get any update. My V5 Plus was released in 2017, hence got the update from Android marshmallow to Nougat.

  • Inside iManager app, go to settings -> Select Check for new version. A newer version will be downloaded for Vivo server if exists. Hope it helps.

I use floating apps to play youtube on background or sometimes online radio.   • Please enable dual charging through phone settings and use the supplied 18 watt Turbo wall charger. Whoever says V3MAX has slow charging have not used the phone. My V3MAX charges to 100% in 90 mins flat and then last for a day for moderate to heavy usage.

  • There is no need to install the driver to transfer files. Just connect V3MAX with PC USB and make sure the phone is in an unlocked state. Use the fingerprint scanner to start the phone and then connect usb. I also own both V3Max and the revered Vivo X5Max. Never had this issue.

  • Finally i found a work around I erased my 128gb card , and then i created a folder using the vivo v3max and then attempted to copy file from my win pc thru es file explorer to the newly created folder and it worked .   • You dont necessarily need the vivo charger solely for fast charging. Look for usb power adapters that support quick charge. That will also work

  • Good speed of battery charging with the dual charging function. However this function is only accessible using the VIVO charger. I can't use my powerbanks and all to charge my phone if I am on the move. The battery percentage does not go up.

  • If you are an audiophile there are only three phones worth considering in India: 1) Vivo X5Max 2) Lenovo Vibe X3 3) LG V20 Nothing comes close to this trio in terms of sound quality over headphones. PERIOD. That said Vivo V3Max with dedicated audio chip will provide way better sound quality over headphones than current flagship like Samsung s7 edge lg G5 or htc 10.

  • Im using vivo v3 max for almost 4 months. Never got heating problem even im playing the big mb games. I am a gamers ive got a lot of game. The presentation is lit. All the applications are smooth. Never regret buying this phone. So far i can rate this phone 5/5 star. Very satisfying, affordable. But 1 thing i hope that vivo can update the v3 max os to marshmallow from lollipop.

  • As we all know Vivo X9 in China is better known as Vivo V5 Plus internationally. But you will be amazed to know that while X9 came with 5.5 inch, FullHD Samsung AMOLED display the V5 Plus ships with IPS LCD display of same size and resolution. I wonder why Vivo made this change. One reason can be reduced cost of manufacturing V5 Plus and also 'Made in India' initiative requires 30% local hardware content. However I am of firm belief that LCD & AMOLED are just two types of display tech and both comes with their own set of pros and cons. One is not better than the other. LCD gives better color accuracy, AMOLED will have more color saturation and consume less power to operate. In the end while Vivo V3Max is available at around INR 20k, only a fool will buy the inferior V5 Plus.

  • Both are excellent smartphones at reasonable prices. They also have near identical hardware with the only difference being display screen size. Xiaomi Mi Max with over 6 inch screen size is just two big for me for daily use so I opted for the 5.5 inch display of Vivo V3 Max. Except for crazy selfie fans the V3 Max is a much better option than the currently released Vivo V5Plus at a crazy high price.

  • Which ever is good. They are the last of SD652 smartphones. Most latest smartphone this year only using SD625 on midranger just because its using 14nm Finfet process. SD652 using the 28nm process but have better performance.

However I am unable to make video calling through the default Jio dialler with data connection ON. However the video calling works fine in Redmi Note 3 & LeEco Le 1s which are supposedly less advanced than V3 Max. Any soulution to this ?

  • Vivo V3Max supports fast charging. It charges really fast with the supplied charger. 0 - 100% in 1.5 hours flat. That's really fast!!!

  • I never buy phones directly from China. These phones do not pass Google CTS test and are vernarable in terms of security let alone unavailability of Google play services. Many back door Trojans may also be present in firmware levels that will secretly pass all your sensitive information to China servers. Recenty Chinese smartphone manufacturer BLU was caught of such acts in USA. I always buy their international versions which pass CTS tests.

  • My suggestion will be to stick to earphones with Vivo V3Max. There are plenty of good quality in-ear earphones available in market for any budget. Cowon EK2, Soundmagic E10 series comes to my mind. They sound great when paired with V3Max and will take you to levels of sound quality which you can only dream with Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge. :-) Even though Vivo V3Max has a dedicated DAC + Headphone amplifier in AKM AK4375 it simply cannot compete with true audiophile smartphones. Same goes for Vivo V5, X5Pro, V1Max or Y27L. In India we have only two audiophile smartphone options, namely Vivo X5Max & Lenovo Vibe X3. Both comes with secondary dedicated power supplies for audio, revered discrete ESS 9018 DACs plus two stage audio amplifiers. They have way better audio quality and can drive audiophile grade high impedance earphones and some headphones.

  • 10-11 years back, I had the same issue because my friend had changed the language my Nokia to Chinese!!! What I had done can be done by you too. Just try... Sit with a guy with a V3 with English as main language. You both start from home screen and you follow him menu to menu, command to command to reach the language setting. Change the language to English by reaching the exact no. in order of languages to reach English. I hope this helps....

  • Video recording is above average. The Snapdragon 652 supports 4k video recording but the default camera app on the V3Max limits video recording to full HD resolution. Using Google Camera we able to record 4k video without any issues so we hope Vivo unlocks this option on the default camera app via a software update soon. Even Oppo F1s cant record in 4k.

In 5c audio frequency graph, anything above 12 kHz audio receives a sharp drop. So the high frequencies aka treble will be lost for sure. So sound qualty wise V3Max is miles ahead. 2) 5c comes with a 5.2 inch display. I need 5.5 inch display atleast due to multimedia centric activities and games. 3) I don't know 5c supports fast charging or not, but it ships with just a 5 watt charger. In this age of fast charging, V3Max's 18 watt charger is a dream come true. V3Max will charge way faster than 5c, maybe even half the time. 4) Both phones ship with octa core SoCs, but Snapdragon 652 of V3Max is the king. 652 have four powerful A72 cores and four less powerful A53 cores. The Soc used in 5c have eight A53 cores only, no powerful A72 here. 5) V3Max have 4GB ram, 5c have only 2GB. 6) V3Max have 32GB internal memory, 5c have only 16GB.

  • I am using Sandisk 128 GB Class 10 microSD cards on both my Vivo X5Max & V3Max. It works like charm on both phones and the transfer speed is very fast. I have never tried anything bigger than 128 GB. In my beloved X5Max, most of the 128 GB card is consumed my huge collection of lossless audio FLAC files These files are huge and provide superlative audio quality which are not possible in MP3. I admit X5Max is built for audio lovers as it has the best audio quality over headphones. The rest are BluRay ripped FullHd movies. This phone has one of the most vibrant display and is perfect for watching movies. The 5.5 inch FullHD Samsung Super AMOLED display is just mindblowing in X5Max and no other Vivo phone can stand against it display quality. No doubt X5Max was the most expensive Vivo launched ever in India retailing at INR 33k. While I use X5Max for multimedia centric activities, my V3Max is mainly used for its default support of VoLTE (Reliance Jio), very useful fast charging capability and in games. Utilizing its stupendously powerful Snapdragon 652 SoC & 4 GB RAM, any game at its highest display settings runs liquid smooth over the FullHd display of V3Max. This phone is built for gamers hands down and to certain extent music aficionados too. :)

  • Vivo V3Max is a dual SIM device. As such it will support 4G VoLTE sim like Reliance JIO in any one of its slots. The other SIM slot is for 2G only. I keep my JIO sim in sim Slot1 and my Vodafone in Slot2. Both works like charm.:) V3Max does not show VoLTE on display. On the upper left of the display it shows two signal strength bars, for me 1st on JIO is "4G" & the other on Vodafone is just "G". On the upper right it will show "HD" indicating High Definition (which means VoLTE) phone calls are available in the phone. The "HD' appears on the left of the "4G1" which is again on the left of the battery status indicator. I can made VoLTE calls directly using the factory Phone app, I do not have to use the Jio4GVoice app and keep data ON for calls. When I make call, the Phone app gives me the option either i want to call through JIO or Voda.

  • Probably because Funtouch OS is only based on android but they made Funtouch as the real OS. You can see that Funtouch version of V3 Max always updated to latest version. It was released with v2.5 then updated to v2.6. Now it runs on v2.7; this version is actually newer than the V5 which released with v2.6. Although the latest Funtouch version is v3.0 that they only used on flagships like the latest X series.

At least your phone dont run on android gingerbread that Google will stop supporting by early 2017.

  • Sadly Vivo v3 max won't be upgrading to M. I cannot even root the device. There are a lot of softwares that I wanted to install that only runs on M. I'll be switching to V5 soon because that one is on M version. Nevertheless, it's a good phone for it's price. It's fast and the fingerprint is better than iPhone.

  • No, it is there for protection againt scratches. Sapphire is much harder than glass and is used as the rear camera lens cover.

  • NO. But it has Phase Detection Auto Focus. The 13MP primary camera is decent for it price but don't expect miracles here. I rate the image quality of V3Max better than my Lenovo Vibe X3 and Oppo F1Plus. Even my friends Samsung Galaxy J7Prime is just as good as V3Max. But it cannot match the color accuracy and detailed image quality of my Vivo X5Max. X5Max came with expensive 13MP Sony Exmor image sensor + 6 lens configuration + ultra hard sapphire lens glass protection.

Still in lollipop we're facing many issues with vivo phones which you haven't noticed. I still haven't satisfied with any smartphones I owned so far, Even iPhone 6 also have an touch issue after a long time of usage. How could you know vivo smartphones are selling the device with less margin, If you don't need M or N upgrade please don't update stay with stable os until the device dies. People like us need frequent upgrades and updates. This is the competitive world if you need to survive you should care about the users & do what they need..

  • You are not having the whole picture. Let me explain. I have found phone companies follow three different kind of strategies for Android version upgrades: 1) Companies like Vivo provided stellar hardware in V3Max at a very reasonable price. You get a powerful SD 652 , 4 gigs of RAM, FullHD screen, great built quality, reasonably good battery, fast charging, fast charger and default VoLTE support. All at INR 19k. The phone also comes with a decent OS overlay named Funtouch OS built upon Android Lollipop. It is a super stable OS, but we the users as always moan as Vivo don't upgrade to Marshmallow. This is because upgrading the android to a higher version will incur Vivo a cost overhead which if planed needs to be included in the handset asking price as nothing comes free. Then this handset needs to cost INR 25K and we could have received Android 6 or may be even 7. But Vivo are not doing this, they are selling at INR 19K with a very thin profit margin and providing timely android security updates via OTA and making the phone ultra stable day by day. To prove my point, my V3Max never crashed/ hanged since I bought it over 5 months even after with hard usage and playing super heavy games. Other companies like LeEco also follow the same rule. 2) Companies like Motorola even under current Lenovo banner follows a different approach. Timely android version upgrades are a must for them. So they sell phones like Moto X Play with lower specs than V3Max at a much higher price of INR 25K. They do this as the extra INR 6k to 7K they are taking per phone will be used to develop new android version upgrades, and then spend huge amount of resource to optimize it for the specific phone hardware. Then it will be deployed via OTA updates. All this incur high cost overhead which is taken into account when you buy their phone. 3) Companies like Lenovo recently tried to do best of both worlds after Motorola acquisition and outcomes can only be misery. Take for example my flagship Lenovo Vibe X3. Costing INR 20K, it had equivalent hardware specs of Vivo V3Max, so Lenovo had a very thin profit margin with this phone. So to do the promised android version upgrade at a nominal cost and not taking into account the quality standards of the software they hired a third party contracted software company to upgrade to marshmallow, but the outcome was that update was so buggy some Vibe X3 users opted to go the service center's to downgrade to Lollipop like me, some sold their phone and some are still moaning with the ultra buggy Marshmallow update. Vivo on the other hand do everything themselves. They make their own handsets and do not contract other companies like Foxxcon to built their phones. Thus they can control the product quality. I own the ominous Vivo X5Max and you will be blown by the product quality of this phone as it beats my wife's Samsung galaxy S6 Edge on this account. So in the end you have to decide, if you want timely android version upgrades then pay an initial high price for the handset and go for companies like Motorola, Samsung etc.

Other brand is doing fine except a few chinese brand. They update simply for the sake of version number but nothing changed in the phone itself. All the features you mentioned dont appear in their Marshmallow update. They troll users. Go ahead, see if kitkat vivo any different from lollipop vivo. It is the exact same. Nothing changed.

Here some examples for you that I noticed Android Lollipop 5.1 and the Android Marshmallow 6.0 are pretty different from the each other, and you can notice the significant difference once you start using it.The Android Lollipop showed the App Permissions on the Play Store and the Installation option. But, in the Marshmallow, we can decide whether to give any app the permission to access something. In Marshmallow, we can review and give the permission to the app after opening it, helping us to control what an application can access and what not, Flexible Storage:- The Android counted the MicroSD card as the external storage. Due to this, we were not able to install the applications on the MicroSD card without rooting the device. But in Marshmallow 6.0, the MicroSD card can be used as the Internal Storage option. We can use the MicroSD card to install the applications in case of less storage problem and that without rooting. Battery Saving:- On the Lollipop 5.1.1, we have the Extended Battery Usage feature. With this feature, we can extend the battery power for 90 minutes of usage. In the Marshmallow 6.0, we have the “Doze” feature. The “Doze” is the Setting in the Marshmallow, which gets activated when the device is kept inactive for a long time. When the Doze is triggered, it puts the phone Deep Sleep mode and only addresses the high-priority issues. Thus, saving battery juice for further usage. Android should be upgraded and must be upgraded for better performance and optimization..

  • Funtouch OS is actually the most stable android skin next to stock android. Updating to new android version is useless because its only change the android version and nothing else, all the software will remain the same. Vivo add all the new feature into Funtouch OS anyway. Their technique is actually better than releasing new android version that may cause the phone to hang and lags due to lack of optimization. If they keep using Funtouch for the updates it will ensure the phone to be well optimized and stable throughout its life. Look at Xiaomi, they update Lollipop to Marshmallow but nothing change at all in the software. It is useless update.

  • Hello co-vivo V3max user, Have you notice a fast drain in battery while using data/internet? I noticed that every time I logged on in online games,social medias etc.. the battery drain too fast. In my observation it took 2-3mins to burn 1% battery charge. This fast battery drain only happens while using data connection (regardless when using data or wifi). For music and movie playing, do not have issue on this fast drain of battery. Anyone who experience this also? Do you have a fixed for this?

Even with their 1gb ram the phone never hangs. If you want to use a true smartphone then better use a vivo device or even oppo but if you want to follow the herd then go with the samsung

  • Depends on your wifi speed. I have slow wifi at home. I tried free wifi at a hotel and it works flawlessly fast. Data is usually faster anyway so that is normal. Especially if you use 4G.

  • Yes. It's been set to enable. Both also set to enable but only regular weekday alarm work. But others just won't. Even I've triple confirm the alarms is set to on. Only one will work which the only one working is the weekday alarm. All others won't work.

  • When the phone is still new it is supposed to be like that. Your phone will eventually calibrate the battery to work more efficiently. The first 10% from 100%(100% going down to 90%) goes down at a rate of 1% per 1min usage. From 90% it will go down slower. It wouldnt make sense if 1min equal to 1%. Thats mean you can only use the phone for 100minutes. Try not to overuse your phone with heavy usage for the first few weeks. Caring for battery life is not Vivo specialty anyway.

Performance is snappy and funtouch ui is really fast and easy to use. Could handle heavy games like nova3 and modern combat with almost no framedrop.   • Now-a-days Vivo & Oppo are losing their distinctive identity & character. Vivo used to be all about audio quality, display quality & thinness. All their phones used to have a signature three, non-backlit silvery capacitive navigation buttons. Oppo on the other hand was primarily focused on camera innovation, selfie camera performance and fast charging technology. By doing collaboration in hardware level as BBK Electronics own both the brands, many Vivo phones are now turning out to be re-branded Oppo and vice-versa. I am not saying this is bad, but a single home button + fingerprint sensor of Vivo X7 very much reminds me of Oppo R9s. They even look like clones. Buy any one and you will be greeted with same type of feel & user experience. :( Let us see what the selfie focused Oppo V5 ... oops ... Vivo V5 turns out to be.

I have their last year flagship Vivo X5Max and also recently launched Vivo V3Max and there is a difference in product quality and materials used in both phones. All cannot me measured by just specs, just as two spec wise similar 1080p displays may end up with different color accuracy and reproduction and cost. That said V3Max is a very good handset for its current asking price of INR 19k. To me the best ever handset launched by Vivo internationally will always be the X5Max. Desperately waiting for its true successor Vivo XPlay5 Elite.

  • I would like to share my feedback on the new Funtouch OS version 2.7.11 I'm from the Philippines and i have a Vivo V3 Max. My phone's previous Funtouch OS version is 2.7.9 I received the 2.7.11 over the air update for my phone yesterday. Here are my observations after verifying and installing the 2.7.11 update. 1) Phone thermal temperature increased during usage. - observed during normal browsing and playing videos that phone is hottercompared to previous OS version 2) Battery drain increased during usage. - playing 1 song will deplete battery by 2%. (version 2.7.9 did not drain as fast) - can play 2 movies before battery drops below 10% (version 2.7.9 can play at least 3 on average brightness) i hope these issues can be addressed in the next update. i love Vivo V3 Max's speed, performance, and battery life. (previous owner of Samsung Galaxy Note 3) Please fix these issues so i can continue enjoying this wonderful phone. Also, I would like to ask for assistance from Vivo/Funtouch Team on how to rollback to previous version if possible. Thank you.

  • Its call 'favourite' for a reason. If you have one too many favourite, that is too many. I doubt you listen to more than 6 stations simultaneously in one day. Everyone have a fav station and rarely more than 3. So, here a tips for you. Pick 6 station you most frequently listen to. The rest you can do manually. Btw, main reason to listen to radio is music. You can download music if you havent noticed.

  • Rightly said. :) Chinese phones having new android version upgrades have hardly have any effect on the look and feel of the software. I have their last year flagship Vivo X5Max running on Android KitKat and also their recent mid-ranger Vivo V3Max running on Lollipop, and I hardly feel any difference using both their Funtouch OS. Their is hardly any difference. So while version upgrades are good, going crazy about it will not reap any rewards. What I feel is more important is in providing the monthly android security updates and Vivo is doing a stellar job here, as I can already find after the recent OTA we already have the Oct, 2016 security patch in V3Max. Good job Vivo!!!

  • tired of Samsung, Sony, HTC phones, I decided to spend less on phones and try vivo v3 max. It's been 3 months but that has been one of the best decisions I made...this phone is just too good in many areas, especially in the price I got. I love its finger senser, no need to input passwords every time the display is just awesome, I have note 4 also, but this display beats note 4 easily. Camera is also v good with bright crispy pics processor is v fast, not a single lag noticed so far great speakers and call quality. battery charges really fast- never running out of battery since I bought this phone. Really good looking phone as well. I'm still surprised how this phone can be justified in the price it is being offered. That's also a fear as there has to be some downside in this phone - maybe its durability? maybe after some months the phone just die down or explode? cuz that's the only thing I can think of!

  • regarding the sdcard problem... probably you purchased a defective one or a cheap... I encountered that problem with sdcards before but not on v3max which means that sdcard card got corrupted and what caused it was randomly downloading videos from untrusted or ecchi sites... You can try to fix it by using a sdcard reader then connect to PC then reformat the sdcard

  • 13MP to 16MP camera sensors are now common in phones ranging from INR 10K to INR 25k. But their are a lot going on behind the scenes in terms of camera sensor quality, lens quality and number of lens used. And then you have to also take into account the camera app which will cook the image from the hardware. I have seen phones like LeEco Le2 which comes with pathtic 16MP camera, Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 which does a much better job with its 16MP shooter. Vivo V3Max have 13MP main camera but the images comes out significantly better than both of them. And then I have X5Max, Vivo's last year flagship which comes with 13MP Sony sensor + 6 lens combination + sapphire glass protection which blows all the competition out of the window with its sublime picture quality. Moral of the story: HIGHER MEGAPIXELS DO NOT DENOTE BETTER PICTURE QUALITY

  • Regarding waze app, it is the same as other apps... If youhappen to encounter that it randomly closes or crashes, it is usually a problem from the app and not the phone... I check waze app and there seem to be a lot of waze app users experiencing that so usually to fix that, all you have to do is wait for the update to fix the bug, re-open the app or unistall then reinstall...

So I find it better to stay in lollipop than update to marshmallow and encounter a lot of bugs which may render the handset unusable... Playstore apps doesn't require you to have marshmallow right now... I'ts just for people who wants to brag to others that they have newer version of android... If you want a new version, why not get a phone with nougat version...

  • Do not install that app. Do what was said in below posts, by unlocking the phone and then connect by USB.

  • And you do not need to install the vivo pc suite app that comes with it. Use its memory as mass storage device and it works like a charm in any mobile.

  • CORRECT. Remember the fingerprint scanner to unlock the V3Max is a security measure. It makes no sence if you can see its memory contents in your PC when the phone is locked. Hence unlock the phone and then connect to your PC. Then only you will be able to see the phone memory and sd card memory as mass storage in your PC.

  • Hi all! Just discovered this: If you activate SMS delivery report, you get an arrow poking your message from the left, after the message is delivered! My older set would have a ✔ below the body of the text after delivery. I was missing that before discovering this.

  • OK. Here in India they are a little deplomatic with "no official word", so not losing hope is more soothing to the soul. Please also note the fact that MM is not such a revolutionary upgrade. My wife's 10k Lava got this upgrade and still it is very much the same Lava! Nothing seems to have changed. Vivo has to move up to at least MM in these times of intense competition. Launching a whole new line up of products with that defies common sense. Among the current models, the latest is V3 Max, which can digest the upgrade. So, keeping hopes alive is not bad.

  • Received this 23mb update yesterday. V3Max is butter smooth in operation as usual. Noticed NO heating issue but speakerphone seems slightly louder than before. May be a driver update. Frankly after owning their flagship Vivo X5Max, I never listen to music in V3Max but I tried out this time and the default music player had no issues. Overall a positive update.

  • I received the update last night but after installation I can see a drop in battery performance as well as some heating issue. Also was unable to press the call button when making a call so switched on and off, it resolved that issue. I believe this version is a beta version since I clearly remember seeing beta written besides 2.7.9, hopefully a final much refined version will be coming soon.

  • Ask somebody to compare processor+RAM combo. j7 is low res but AMOLED, speaker volume is generally low in Samsung. I've V3 Max and I find music and camera quality excellent.

  • Funtouch OS in Vivo phones have many nooks and corners, hidden paths which you will only discover with extensive usage. Like I discovered once to take a snapshot you have to press power key + Home (middle) navigation key. With the recent OTA update, the OS have become velvet smooth in operation... way way better than my pesky Oppo F1 Plus. V3Max supports Reliance Jio SIM out of the box, a big plus in India. Vivo is pricing their phones very aggressively this year, V3Max @ INR 20K is a very sweet deal, almost the phone to beat at this price range. I feel 5.5 inch screen size of V3Max is the max for a phone you can hold and use comfortably day in day out. After using it with Lenovo Vibe X3 & Oppo F1 Plus, V3Max gets my vote as the best all rounder. Though I must admit my personal all time favorite is undoubtedly the Vivo X5Max.

  • Hi! As we spoke earlier, it seems upgrade 2.7.7 is being introduced batchwise and I am in the queue. Now for the issue: In my version (2.7.4), if you copy a no. from text message, you have no place to paste that in dialer for calling or saving as a contact. But there is another way. If you press the menu button (left physical button), it gives you the option of pasting the number! And after that contact button (below *), becomes a contact saving button!! It took time for me to figure it out. I hope you have seen it.

  • The OTA updates are always the latest versions. That said the latest version is 2.7.7 after update. I got this update last Saturday. It contains August, 2016 Android security patches and some nifty updates which have made the OS even more butter smooth. I have seen games like Asphalt 8 now loads even faster after this update. The Funtouch OS is ultra stable now. I live in India.

  • First of all you should use a Wi-Fi connection to get this 2.7.7 update.. Switch off or reboot your mobile to get this update via system update.. Or else use vivo browser go to vivo product select v3 Max to manual update.

V3 max support surround sound.. It only works on headset or earphone to active the sound setting.. Dont use another mp3 players. On the contrary you get amazing brightness of 600 nits in v3max as vibe x3 is not so bright. I personally like v3max screen for its bright sunlight legibility. Both screens are great for video content. 2) V3Max comes with more powerful Snap 652 + 4 gigs of RAM. I have stopped using Vibe X3 after this Marshmallow update. Wifi does not connects to my home router and huge battery drain. 8) V3Max have fast charging tech, will go from 0% to 100% battery in 1.5 hours flat. Vibe X3 will take 2.5 hours. 9) Even though Vibe X3 comes with a bigger battery, V3Max gives more battery backup. I believe V3Max software is more optimized than the messy OTA updates of Lenovo. 10) Vibe X3 have more software features, but only half of them works at a time. Constant hanging and restarts are common. In V3max I have peace in mind. Everything just works!!! 11) Both of them costs INR 20K in India. In the end after using both the phones for some time, I must say V3Max is the winner and a more complete phone. You will only know this after using both phones. My advice to you will be if you are an audio aficionado or a pure movie buff stick to Vibe x3 OR else V3Max is a better phone, more performance oriented, more stable and more future proof.

  • I too agree with you. The good part with Vivo's Funtouch OS is even with some limited functionality, everything works smoothly as advertised!!! It is a rock solid and very stable OS build upon Android which covers all the necessary functions required for daily use. There are also quite a few hidden gems (functions) like Pro mode of their camera software which I only discovered after extended use. At least I now rate this OS better than my Lenovo Vibe X3, where there are a lot of functionality provided but only half of them works.

  • bought it one week ago so far i have no problem at all on the phone, smooth,fast and no lags in high graphic gaming(tried NOVA3,implosion GTA SA and modern combat)....the only dissapointing point for me to talk about is the funtouch OS....i feel like the OS is lack of something and things u can do with it is too less. im previously a MIUI OS user, so as compared i feel like xiaomi can custom far more things than funtouch.....hope VIVO can update more things soon into the OS,also hoping to update the marshmallow 6.0 :)

  • Its lower version update don't install anything until any notification for update

  • Check the funtouch os software version to that of file found in Vivo support. Most probably your phone software after latest OTA update will be have the latest. Check it and then only install or else you will be installing a lower version software.

  • Hi! Just noticed. There's a firmware update. Go to Vivo tab in the browser. Open support, choose V series, Vivo V3 Max, you'll get a 1.5+ gb update. I will try to run it tonight. Have you run it? Try, if it can help.

  • 1) when you swipe from down you can see the icons of the recently opened apps.hold each icon and swipe upward for killing the app.For killing all apps use speed up For making an app not to be killed by task manager,hold the icon in the toggle menu and pull down once and you should see the lock symbol. 2)There is a screen protector already and its very good .No need to add your one.I am not really sure about how good gorilla glass 4 is,but my phone did survive a couple of fallls without a case.Though i would recommend to let the screen guard be there..It is hard to find a screen guard that covers properly like the one that came with the phone!

  • You even can notice the slot shape difference towards the left and right of speaker (as per the sensor shape) which is exactly like the original film. I think both the films are same! Still the best bet would be to apply a new 9H TG over the existing protective film.

The main backdrop is the capacity of the battery just 3000Mah battery compare to Asus zenfone,redmi note3, the gaming experience is well there is no lagging while playing. Vivo x5max have even better quality than v3max. Second difference is better quality in v3max.   • False.. Both Sims support LTE.. But only the data sim will be running on LTE and not the other one.. To change it all you need to do is change data preference and the other sim will latch to LTE

  • v3max comes with hybrid slot, either you can have 2 sims OR one 4g sim and other 128gb micro sd card. I have never used or tried my v3max with two sims so cannot tell. I am happy with my single airtel 4g + 64 gb card. v3max is an awesome phone for its price, it will very hard for you to get a better phone at this price. If you are looking for 2 sims + sd card look somewhere else.

  • It's a long question. Please somebody help!!! As per gsmarena and 91mobile sim 2 can support only 2G (not even 3G like other good phones). Their website is silent on the same (Asus, Mi and Leeco are best in this regard). I tried to clarify from their chat support and wrote an email too. Chat support said " both 2G and 3G for non-data use". Received a phone call too saying the same. But in the email reply they simply mentioned " as per the telephone call, your query is answered", which means nothing in written. I request any actual users to please confirm whether sim 2 will support 3G too. Also, if this should be considereda deal breaker. Otherwise I will buy Asus ZenFone 2 Laser (ZE601KL), which has a dedicated SD card slot.

  • I own the F1 Plus and V3Max. The V3Max is the king here, hands down. Spec wise comparing with Samsung the ultimate winner of this trio V3max. At INR 20K this Vivo is a killer phone and a very balanced handset. Awesome looks, great build, good 1080p screen, powerful Snap 652 chipset, 4 gb ram, 32 gb internal & 128 gb external memory. Good camera and great sound quality with dedicated audio chip akm ak4375. Battery backup is great too with fast charging technology which helps to charge my v3max from zero to 100% in just 1.5 hrs.

  • I have played the same game on V3max for nearly 2 hrs without any issues. I am a power user and play a lot of games. I needed a phone with good specs and v3max offered me that. At Rs. 20k you get snapdragon 652, a very powerful processor and graphics and 4 gb ram. The phone is made of metal and absorbs the heat from 652 to make it work effectively. This is normal. Do not worry about heat, v3max is super strong and is a reliable performer.

  • I have this phone. Great phone and amazing quality. Vivo makes well built phones. It is big due to 5.5 inch screen and yeah it is slightly heavy due to its aluminium build. I also find they are regularly updating the phone with latest android security patches which is great. After few months of use I find v3max very reliable and solid build. But for me the best Vivo i have seen is X5Max which unfortunately is very expensive.

I was unconvinced with this brand at first, but after playing with it a little I started to fall in love with it. The camera was great, launching app is very fast, processor is snappy. And the biggest turn on is it's playing 4k videos very smooth and image was vivid. So I scrapped my plan to buy the LG Nexus and decided to give this phone a try. At RM 1199 it's a bargain. You get a flagship spec and experience for a third of the price. Few things I dislike is 1. At 5.5', it's a little uncomfortable to use one hand and a little bit heavy (due to aluminium material the phone used) 2. It tried very hard to copy iPhone in term of design and software. 3. Still stucked at 5.1 lollipop. With this spec there's no problem to run marshmallow but why they hasn't update it yet 4. It's vivo. New brand in market and I doubt the quality or durability. With Samsung I dropped it few times and still can function. The rest are simply amazing. Fingerprint sensor works fast, beautiful aluminium finishing, very minimal malware unlike Samsung. And the warranty is international. So I can purchase this phone in Malaysia and go to Singapore to get it fixed.

  • register your fingerprints again..sometimes we use wet or oily finger on the fp sensor that causes such issues

  • All fingerprint sensors in all phones are not 100% accurate. So sometimes very rarely it does not function as intended. It is normal.

  • yesterday we bought this phone. it doesn't have memory card slot. we can put the memory card instead of the second sim. so we can use either a single sim with memory card or double sim without the memory card. very poor option. we can buy a phone with dual sim and memory card option for less than Rs. 10000. the cost of this phone is also very high. so please dont buy this phone

  • does anyone having issue with finger print sensor? Sometimes (very rare) it doesn't work as expected. Otherwise its a good phone except for camera in low lighting conditions.

  • great phone.with octa core 4gb ram its already a powerful phone and can match with hi-end smartphones. mid-range price but the value is great.processor,resolution and speed is also great plus you have a hi-fi sound regardless if you are using headset or speakers.android version is lollipop 5.1 although I hope it can soon be upgraded to marshmallow..i suggest looking into this phone for those who are a bit tight on budget but already a winner in phone specs..
