BenQ S80 - User Reviews

  • Siemens still made phones at the time

  • When was the 240x320 screen resolution standardized on phones like this?

  • the camera is not truly clear...not 1.3 mP..

  • reset code plz

  • its display picture quality is good.

  • had this phone for almost two years now battery life sucks camera sucks video sucks ..all is well except for those i've mentioned ..now, my phone's kept for i can no longer use it couldn't find new battery for it..wtf

  • the bluetoth is working only with heahphones. You cannot make transmitions of data with other phones. Cables and headphones think you will not find. The best solution is to load/download data in it by mini sd card... Overall is true that is a quite poor phone. Personally plan to get rid of it...

  • Hello i am from BANGLADESH i recently bought the fone, its fine but i could not find the data cable for S80 and tell me how does the bluetooth works???? The camera resolution is very bad, not of a kind of a VGA one. The battery life is too short. Sorry the falash does not works, its for a kind of a showpiece.

  • First time i bought, it was nice and friendly as user but it seem have little problem with my memory card i cant open my files on mini SD. coz i want to hear music mostly mp3. how can i fix this one.help me please!!!!!

  • Please write a rewiev about this phone. I need to know / see some pictures taken with its camera!

  • the interner memory is 32mb no only 10mb and please check the wap site www.benq.com.my

  • hey does anyone no the price of this phone and what is the memory limit on it

  • And i need stereo headsets... :-\

  • At first, I thought Benq S80, now Siemens SFG75 was NOT a good phone. NOW, I can say for sure: 1) It's not really easy to find a USB data cable, so I asked directly to Benq Italy, they sent me in 2 days FOR FREE & now I'm posting this message using it via UMTS...fast...150Kbit/s in this zone. 2) It seems that Bluetooth works only with headset. However, now I'm satisfied.

  • Yes can anyone help me i got this phone and i do have some problems 1.The external screen is lighting every 30sec 2.My phone shows that i have a 40mb memory share 3.I can not find a way to swich betwen the 3 camers Pls help me One more thing do any one have manuales?

  • i ve one? he definitely has bluetooth

  • In the Benq website say that this phone has Bluetooth. Now Im not sure about it.

  • i have this phone, and peple keep saying it has bluetooth, where?!!? if you look it says nothing about bluetoth, and i have used it for 12 months and never found anything anywhere that say anything about bluetooth, and the manual says nothing about it having it, if it douse, could someone tell we where to find it...

  • Right i'd just like to set everyone straight on this phone, it is not made by o2 in the UK benQ and siemans mobiles joined together and o2 (like to does with nokia) took the design and named it o2. This phone has a very good camera and brilliant memory, the benq veriosn (alothough the same as o2) has a longer battery life and has a much much better signal i would reccommend benQ instead of o2 to everyone this is a brilliant phone. The best place to purchase this phone is off www.ebay.com and type into the search benq s80 well worth the cheap price!

  • this phone in uk is made by 02. this company is crap foreign rubbish for cheapos

  • It is a great phone but i dont know how works the blouthoot whith other phones, how can i connect with them. Can some one answer to me please.

  • well...i havent got one...i guess this benq s80 is juat another version of s70 which much more upgradeed...so i guess it has the 3G n also have bluetooth as well...in that caswe i really want if there any seller so i can buy this mobile since i have benq s 70 at the moment for my collection!! thank!!

  • i really like this s80. shame bluetooth looks like is not working so well... [can't broadcast with nokia bluetooth].I'd like to connect myLinuxPc>usb>bluetooth>umts s80 modem>internet... finger crossed

  • I have recently bought this phone after reading around many reviews and although this phone has had 1/2 good 1/2 bad reviews I really found this phone a pleasure to use and cant see what all the negative feedback for the camera may not be good in a darkly lit room but thats why you have a camera with decent flash. Overall I'd say GREAT fone and stylish for more specs and downloads visit

  • carlo from italy. I've bought a benq s8o. In italy, usb cable and relative sync software are not included in phone packing. So I've to buy it. Someone knows where I can find it?

  • s80 photo album

  • Yes I have used it for MP3 transfer via USB, We need to keep the flip open and then we insert the USB cable in the phone and it gives 3 options to select and we need to select Mini SD, once that is done my comp recognises it as storage device and I access Music folder to transfer the files which is lot faster....

  • with bluetooth?

  • transferring mp3 to the phone from the comp via the usb cable seems so very very slow. Ive read that if you put the phone in card reader mode that the transfer rate is a lot faster, however when I try to use the card reader mode it tells me that the phone is not connected and I subsequently am unable to transfer anything. Maybe Im being thick and its something really obvious that Im not doing but I would appreciate any suggestions.

  • WAt the hell's goin on!? I thought this was 02 X4!

  • Oh and just to let you know Benq now own Siemens Mobile phones the news reveals and aim to have the Benq/Siemens new brand out in October allegedly!

  • Just bought the X4 model, tested it 100%, camera brilliant, pictures better than the Nokia 6630!! Screen Quality up there with the top of the range Samsung. 64 mb memory card, MP3 brilliant. Caller i.d, stylish. And I got a free ipod shuffle worth 60 to go with it. I have just sold my bulky Nokia 6630 on ebay, glad the bricks gone. And you can't match the New Nokia 6230i to this phone, the new Nokia has a rubbish megapixel camera and the quality doesn't come near the X4. I have found no faults with this phone and the menu is simple to understand. I suggest you go into an O2 shop and look at one yourself. I have had previously a Nokia 6600,6630 and 6230i and prefer the X4. If you go on O2 online for 149.99 you get the phone and a free i-pod 512mb shuffle. If you like Samsungs you'll like this model once you've played around with it. Hope this helps?

  • this phone'aint the worst ive seen but small compact and even if you drop it it might survive the full but it's an o2 phone so dont waste your money

  • I work for o2 and have the misfortune of having to sell the x4 (o2s branded version of this). This whole range is the most backwards problematic cheap waste of time ive ever seen. problem is that the profit margin is so high for the company that even if 1/3 are returned theres still more profit than selling a more reliable product.

  • this is the 02 x3 fone in the uk im sure, its whack at indoor photos

  • Please,I will like to know the price of BenQ S80.

  • what is the fps(frame per second) when watching video files? is it same as the benq s700 (30 fps)?

  • This phone is available in malaysia. Quite a neat package only drawback is benq is a new comer in the gsm world so i'm not sure how bug-free it is

  • cannot get video full screen,,help thank you

  • thank you malenko

  • sent mp3 to it only problem is ir is a slow way to send anything, setting it to card reader using a cable is much better

  • can infra red download bigger video files this time.the x3 only let mediume photo files and any thing vaguely big said data file to large

  • qcif (176*144) sub qcif(128*96) mms, which it wont say the size of i dont know what the o2x3 was like, but i recorded a 15 minute clip on this (then got bored and turned it off), quality was similar to motorola a925 i had. exept that only did 1 minute. when i have a good reason ill try seeing how long it can record for

  • is it cif video recording like x3

  • if you hit option when in camera mode it has indoor setting. the pictures are a lot better than any other phone cameras ive used but tbh that isnt many. mines done the looking like its empty when it had a full charge a couple of hours ago once so far, not something im going to worry about tho

  • O2 X4 Review Points to note: Some of the GSM Arena data is inaccurate; in fact the phone sports a 1280x1024 camera, a 65000 colour outer screen, a 64Mb minisd card, and weighs in at 126g according to O2’s manual. According to some reviews, the camera of the X3 was improved with a firmware update, and personally if the camera meets the quality of the shots I have seen from this update, I shall be satisfied. Shots shall arrive later! Time came round to get a new phone, and an O2 contract turned out to be the best option. Eventually decided to pickup an O2 X4 following a Moto V500: Would the upgrade prove beneficial following the O2 X3 performance? Initial Impressions: Opening the box is actually somewhat interesting since it opens in a fancy manner, open the left and the right opens simultaneously; certainly working in conveying a sense of quality to the product! Opening the box leads to the contents of the X4, a 64Mb MiniSD, handsfree, battery and charger. The phone itself is in my opinion very aesthetically pleasing, looking professional and functional. Charging the battery, 3 hours later… MP3 Player: After completing the easy setup process, the PC sync software made it dead easy to send an mp3 test file. Plugging in the headset gives very commendable audio quality of a 128kbps file, and by no means bad through the loudspeaker even with the plastic still covering it! MP3’s can now be transferred WITHOUT additional Hard or software, making the process much more feasible. However, at the time of writing it did seem very slow to transfer over the USB cable {10 mins for 4Mb} no doubt just a setting requiring a tweak. *Update; putting the phone into Card reader mode, rather than sync mode, allows for very fast USB transfers, i.e. ~ 12Mbps! A 512Mb MiniSD card is on its way to make full use of the phone’s potential in MP3 mode {35; eBay} ** It is now also possible to change the message tone from ‘ding dong’, to any installed melody or mp3 file! Calendar: A calendar is actually one the most used functions by myself and therefore important to me. I need to have the ability to rapidly set events minimising input where possible, and easily being able to make amendments. The X4 does complete these criteria, but not quite as effectively as the V500 if I am totally honest. It takes a bit longer than the V500 since start and end times must be entered – and the end time does not automatically start at a duration after the start time, and hence must be set to be able to store the event. A minor niggle, but a niggle nonetheless. Conversely, a reminder is given at the event time, without the need to specify a reminder each time; a handy feature, and the phone vibrates/rings for ~ 20 secs at that time; hard to miss! Problems of the X3… Poor Battery Life Reliability Message Tone couldn’t be changed Messages had no Character count Texting was Slow Camera Quality & white spot issue & did not remember settings From the above, it seems to me that the issues have been fixed with the exception of the message characters count, and possibly the battery life {not had a full cycle yet}. As detailed in the review, the other issues have been addressed. *Update: A slight niggle has been noticed regarding the battery meter – currently showing empty after having gone straight from 75% to empty, now at empty for 2 days; no low battery warnings? Me thinks the meter is a bit off! Camera: First thing to notice is the fact that the camera is very responsive, no lag in taking pics at all; at least whilst the phone is new! Also, no longer is it the case that the settings are not stored; once set they remain set until next use! Its easy to say that in artificial light, the camera is not very impressive – this has always been the case with mobile cameras, and no different here. Outside, it is up to you to make your own judgements by the attached pics following shortly. 3G: Yep, its 3G certified, but does not offer video calling. Personally this new tech is not of great interest since video calling for ex is costing 65p per min! However improved GPRS speed is no bad thing; and certainly functional and beneficial over the X3. However it has been brought to my attention that a phone operating in a poor 3G signal area may still try to lock onto this signal even if worse than the 2.5G, and offer poor battery life. Where I reside this is not an issue, 3G reception being strong, but one should be aware. It does seem however that this setting can be overridden to only provide 2.5G singals. Conclusion: Good Points:- Its everything the X3 should have been! Cheap for functionality! Excellent Mp3 playback Decent interface Stylish Software seems to be reliable Message Tones can be changed Texting speed increased Bad Points:- Not as user-friendly as some; nokia springs to mind Camera quality remains to be below the high standard of the D500 for ex. Fairly heavy 3G functionality incomplete Minor Software niggles Overall:- For the cash, the phone is absolutely fantastic in my opinion. The features offered are simply unmatched at the price offered, and the niggles really are minor. The camera should be better, but its not awful and unusable either.

  • Hiya again. The camera isn't all that great as before, but as was said if you want a camera, buy a DIGITAL CAMERA and not a phone. the video function is quite good, and the MP3 player good too. The screen on this phone is quite big, much larger than a standard one. I'd say probably about 2.5-3" high (not having the phone in front of me) It's a nice little phone really, it does everything it's supposed to do. :)

  • Can you provide us with photo samples taken on the O2 X4?

  • Resolution is higher than x3

  • Miss Kitty, Is the main screen on the X4 bigger than the X3? Thanks

  • I like your product design very much. I engourage you to keep it up.

  • I got my o2 x4 today, and they've fixed a couple of things from the x3. You can uplaod mp3s to the phone now via the usb cable, (and anything for that matter, it functions as a mobile storage device with its new "card reader" mode) and it comes with 10mb onboard memory and a 64mb memory card (if you get it on o2). No idea how the camera compares yet though, probably same as the x3. Got any questions, feel free to ask :) pity i don't know where to get any games for it :(

  • symbian may be an os as you say but it rules better than o2 x3 and many users use it :D :D :D :D :D :D !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • "lmao so hard hahahahahaa!!" does o2 x3 have symbian........................... noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! hahahahahahahaha!!!!!!!!!!!

  • this phone is not the x3!!! since when was the x3 wcdma? never!!! the benq s700 is the x3!!! - i know this phone is not the x3 its the x4 of course

  • And, "i had an o2 x3 also and the video on it was crap" Since when? - Since when i had it and a few others also had it and had same problem unless of course you have the new firmware "also it was dark and when i set it to indoor mode it sticks all the time" Its called a light booster... - But still its crap "and nokias are more reliable" HA HA HA HA... LMAO SO HARD HAHAHAHAHAA!! - They are ask many people they will tell you themselves "and more compatible with more programmes" I never knew you could get TV programmes on nokias...? - Yes you can with the new 6630 with 3g networks "unlike the o2 x3 which wouldn't let you download certain java games (which was a size problem) and mp3 ringtones (and?) also" - Yes size problems Hmm... you have issues... - The software has some issues

  • I had this phone on O2 (re-badged as the X3) and it isn't that great! The Camera quality is below that of a VGA camera. The Text function "ITAP" is far below the functionality of Nokia predictive text. And When you do decide to use that crap camera, you'll have to set the quality settings EVERY TIME. On the plus side, the mp4/mp4 player is good, and the memory module slot is a great idea.

  • just like an o2 x3/benq s700 but with a better external screen and more round than square...excellent!!!

  • Fully Loaded, can't get better than this.
