I used this phone for less than 6 months before it began to lag, freeze, reset itself spontaneously, and I finally decided to give it up when the screen flickered every time I pressed a button. Also, from the very beginning it was a nuisance to use because the keys are SO small and slippery. I had to press the buttons with my fingernails which took a bit of getting used to. Also, the construction is kind of loose and a lot of junk ended up getting under the back cover (where the battery, sim card etc. are), which could have been what caused the deterioration in functionality. And then when you have problems, you have nowhere to go because "Benq-Siemens" seems to have completely disappeared off the internet and the current Benq website only gives support for its more modern phones. AVOID.

Sorry mate you didn't manage to resend or even to view an ordinary sms from those "sent" in youre phone!.. I usually resend messages this way: Messages/Sent/then select the wanted message/Options/Forward.../SMS - edit if need to - Options/Send - type the new no/Options/Send! :) In fact it's easier than that..! ;)

This is the worst phone I have ever used in my life!!!! I was given as an office mobile and I would tell you, I have never seen anything this stupid. to start with 1. The call records do not show in the proper order. 2. You can�t edit any sent SMS or re-use the SMS or even view it! 3. Storing a no. is a nightmare... lost lots of nos. while trying to save on a night out! Very stupid sequence of saving a no. 4. System Crash or blackout- at very important times the phone just blacks out... So many more complains but I have to back to work. This phone is a disgrace to Benq-Siemens, My taught to this was that they actually used programmers from the Pascal days to develop this phone. I need to look for 3rd party operating system for this stuff. Thanks

To BuKO I have the same sms problem. Despite that you remove all messages, it says the sim card memory is full. The solution is strange enough, connect the E71 to the mobile phone manager, there you ll find all the messages you already deleted! If you delete them in the phone managar, the sms memory is empty again.

Hi guys, I got e71 some months ago and it's great. However, there appeared one problem recently. After I got a message that the ssms memory is full, I erased old smss and tried to send one right after but since then, whenever I try to send a sms, the phone doesn't send it but saves it in Outbox and I get "Sending failed! hi to all, I bought my E71 in Moscow during the new year. The phone is awsome and it's one of the best looking phones that I've seen. I have a strange problem. During the last couple of days, the colors on the phone just go crazy after some button click and then return to normal after a couple of clicks. Something similar to invert colors. The problem appears no matter if I'm in the menu, phonebook or just browsing photos. any solutions ?

Can anyone help? My EF71 is stuck on headphone mode (with nothing plugged in). When I plug the cable in, it takes it off headphone mode. It seems to be doing the opposite. Any help would be great. Thanks.

hi Mohamed. ya, you've got version 41 installed on your phone now. the newest would be 45, you need to download the FW(around 27 MB) to the computer then do the updating by connecting the phone with the original data cable(DCA-140)and run the updater file. but i think you don't need to update it since you have 41 already, coz i guess the newest one doesn't bring too many differences. i have the same 41 and no complain at all from me. and as for the first problem, i got it. your phone code got blocked right, so you need to ask for the unlock code by asking it to the service centre. as for my e-mail, find it at the e-mail icon at the right lower of this post. good luck Mohamed my friend!

Man your firmware is 41. Search for gsm multifund and register there for latest firmware for the phone and download from there. You wont get any better than there site as the company who made your phone is bust and wont be backing up your gurantee. Good luck you will need it thats why it was sold off in the end for �35 in the uk when they finally dumped it a few weeks ago.

hai Mohamed, glad you like my country.;) bad luck about the phone got locked, perhaps you still have the service centres in your country? if yes, ask them for the phone code, it's should be free of charge, but it depends. firmware is the software that operate the phone, it's like the brain. you can check your phone FW version by typing *#06# and move to the next tab, look for it there. the newest FW would be 45, find it at www.gsm-multifund.de for further questions, you can go to www.club-siemens.net/forum or www.siemensplanet.com/forum, you'll find me and other helpfull members there.

Hi guys, yeah I tried to connect to other devices, 1 laptop (worked), 2 mobiles (worked), it's probably only my Asus A8JN that E71 doesn't want to connect to. Pity, well, I've got a cable so I will probably have to live with it. As for most recent posts, here's a Czech website with FW downloads: it's pretty simple, in the left menu, under Services, click on Firmware and there you go. One more thing, I tried to apply various themes to E71 but when there are redecorated icons, my icons remain still the samy, any idea why this is? Thanx a lot, L

hello there. soryy i don't know about the bluetooth issue, but have you tried to connect with other device? about the FW update, download it at (need to register first) and then coneect your phone to the computer and run the updater file, it'll tell you what to do, easy.

Update: just did a firmware update to the newest firmware (version 45) and still no luck :-( can't believe I am saying this, but I will have to sell the phone if I can not solve this problem, because I sms a lot and eveytime receiving that warning is not what I like, so I really don't know what to do? Come on guys help me out here

Hey guys, I am also a lucky owner of the E71, but I have a BIG problem: my E71 saves my SMS messages on my SIMcard (20 messages memory) instead of the phone memory (100 messages memory) so when I get 20 messages, my phone warns me that my inbox is full and I should empty my inbox. I also won't get an alert tone with new incoming messages (no tone and vibration) this is so annoying because I have memory left in my phone memory, but my phone will not save my messages there in the first place... Can someone please help me ? Thanks in advance

the MicroSD slot is under the battery, like the simcard slot. it's at the upper right. to transfer the photos and anything else, do it over bluetooth, just press "options" then "send.." "via bluetooth". what do you mean by no internet? have you set up the connection profiles? you can ask your provider to get the settings for it.

hi all! @ Vesster, yeah, the site is closed down due to the situation that i wrote down here, so it's a bad news for users that seek for official updates and else.:( same as you, currently i'm running FW 41 and i'm pretty satisfied with it, even though not many changes compared to the FW 32 i've got for the first time, but obviously the speed is upped. i can live with few un-anoying bugs, no phone is perfect anyway.;) i have FW 42(the latest) fortunately, downloaded it just before the site going to be closed. i haven't installed it yet coz i have asked for other users about it and i don't see any reasons to do it. but unfortunately i can't send it via e-mail coz it's too large, 21.5 MB, while Yahoo Mail can handle only 10 MB. about themes, i find it awful too. yes, you can install new ones and you can get lots of it at , loads of cool ones! @ E71 fan, hmm.. that's weird, it supposed to be saved directly to the phone memory not to the SIM, unless the phone memory(100) is full. try to master reset the phone, you can find it under settings option. if the problem still persist, it might need a FW update, which the official ones isn't availabe on the net for now, maybe it will be back in the future. the service center can do it for you, if you have any that reachable. and to all of you, including people that read this, without forgetting GSMArena, this forums are the best to share and solve the problems you might have. hope it'll solve the problems, good luck!;)

hello all that I can say about the e71 are good things. this phone is really good. it is very nice and it has the best screen i have ever seen on a phone! But I have a problem: Can someone tell me where is the option in the menu to save the incoming sms automatically to the phone memory and not to the sim card memory? I tell this because my sim card has only a capacity of 20 sms and the phone memory has a capacity of 100 (I am talking about the phone memory of 100 sms and not to the archive memory of 0,99 mb). Hi there.I've bought my E71 just a week ago and I think it's great.In spite of its small bugs and errors, the phone is very good for its price.I wanted to download the latest firmware for E71 and was very surprised when I realized that they have closed the web site.I'm running FW 41 and I hope that someone can help and send me the latest FW by e-mail.(May be Paeiijho would help,he seems to be an expert in the field.)And one more question -Is it possible to istall new themes on this phone,'couse I think the available themes are awful. Hi there, i'll try to answer the best i can alright! 1. if you heard the news about the things that's been going on lately, you must know the answer. but if you don't i'll tell you. BenQ is decided to close the German division that produce phones that designed purely by Siemens(such as E71,EL71, EF81 and so on) because of the inevitable loss they suffered. the insolvency team failed to get the qualified investor to save the division, so it's already closed by the end of january this year. as the result, no more phones from there anymore including the phones i mentioned above, but i believe that they have enough stocks to sell. 2. IMO it's not slow at all, but not so flashy either, acceptable for me. it's drained quite amount of battery life when i played the pre-installed games. 3. i don't know this one. 4. my E71 was a gift from the generous senior member at Club-Siemens forum, so i get it for free, i only pay the taxes in my country(Indonesia). the phone itself is built in the already closed factory in Germany. to check for the availability and price go here: the shop is reliable, my fellow countryman have bought some SXG75 from there with no problem. conclusion, i'm very satisfied with this phone, even though it's come with some minor drawbacks. there's no such a perfect phone anyway.;) if you a Siemens fan like me, you've got my recommendation to get this beauty. hope this help you to decide.:-)

well, sorry for that, but i NEVER experienced such things. be patience, maybe all you need is firmware upgrade. unfortunately the download site isn't available anymore for now, could come back later. but if you want, i can send the latest FW to your e-mail. or you can do it at the service centre for free, it's still in guarantee right?! what FW are you running now?

Beautiful phone, very good for work and entertainment. Large display, addressbook, organiser. Super sound. And possible to improve details by patches :-) Phone is quick and stable. I'm sad that Siemens era is over. If they have produced phone like this allways, they would never have problems.

what FW are you running now? i have no problem with the internet. could be the sofware(FW/FirmWare) issue/bug. the newest FW on the official site is FW 42, upgrade your phone might solve the problem. to take out the SIM card? simply by sliding it out from the slot. i find it hard to do it too, use your nail to lift and pull it out.

To be able to use FM Radio you have to connect the headphones, because the cable of the headphones acts like an FM antenna. No antenna - no radio, same as in all other mobile phones... :)

There are only two colors for this phone: DARK SILVER ONYX BLACK The so called "light silver" is some pre-serial production demo model with unfinished coating, which never was produced for final sales. There are only some odd samples of non-finished dark silver units that just because of lack of final coating look like "lite silver"... SO THERE"S NO SUCH THING AS LIGHT SILVER VERSION OD E71

that's why i said it's a long long story, the news is all there in Club-Siemens. yes, the dark silver is fingerprint resistant, the member of Club-Siemens who has it said it work, at least it's not pick up dirt so easily. what colour you have? mine is onyx black. surprisingly, there's a light silver version, but somehow they're not release it. about the benefits of joining, haha.. no you're not gonna get new phone, unless you're lucky like i do!;-) for sure you'll get a good Siemens community there, where they willing to help you on the problems you might have. btw, you don't have to join to read everything there.

@Nigel LOL, i'm a Mr not Miss!haha..! well, your question is a bit long to tell here,let me tell the big part only. actually it's not sell seperately. it's just Siemens mobile HQ was in Germany and BenQ is in Taiwan, merging them into one isn't that easy considering how far they seperated and they can't just fire all the workers in Germany. so, Siemens based phones is produce there and BenQ based phones produced in China, that's basicaly why. more information you can find at www.club-siemens.net/forum. @Sly sorry, coz i didn't see a name at your last post before this!;-)

To Miss Paeijho..since u know quite a lot about this phone i have a question. if there is benq-siemens..why do they keep selling benq phones and siemens phones separately?

@Nigel you're welcome. good to know it's at a good shape. btw, i'm Mr.;) @Sly my previous phone was C75 and it SHOWN(remember, SHOWN) full signal reception almost all the times. but no different from my E71 for the signal quality. maybe you live in a low range signal area? well, i'm not a hard user, my C75 lasted up to 6 days with minimum use, 3 days with hard use. while my E71 lasted about 5 days with low usage and 2-3 days with hard use, that was running FW 32. just updated the FW to 41, lets see if there's any differences.

@Nigel you can download all the neccesary software(MPM> Mobile Phone Manager) you need for the phone at the official site, just choose support and download area. @Adi yes, it 20 seconds max only. if you want to keep it lit just press any buttons, it'll stay lit. @Sly at first, i thought it's weak at recieving signal, coz it's shows only two or three bars. but after i use it for awhile, i didn't notice any different for calls and battery life, so it's not a problem at all. @Stefan Kovachev press "option" then "more..", you'll find the option to copy or move to the phone memory there. if you want to copy or move multiple contacts, mark them first. hope your questions answered!;)

@nigel 1 and 2 i don't know, since i'm new to this phone. 3, yes you absolutely can update the FW, you can download the FW from the official site and find the instruction you need there. you need the original DCA-140 data cable too. need to ask more about it and other questions, go to this two great Siemens forum, www.club-siemens.net/forum or www.siemensplanet.com/forum. hope this help!;)

Got one in the end. It works with Salling clicker by the way! I like the big 240*320 screen (QVGA) However the camera focus is poor. And it is difficult to open the back. Best way I have found is to insert the end of a cable tie in the slit at the bottom, this stops it closing again whilst you slide the back up.

i think it's a good product which imbeded SIEMENS OS, and the design is great but this produtcs will not be released to marketing and i still found some defacts, one of the biggest one is, people hard to know how to open the back cover and to insert SIM cards

I work at T-Mobile and I tried the E71 a few weeks ago. It looks stunning - certainly not cheap and tacky as some people have said. For something that costs �100 it looks like it costs at least 3 times that amount!

in reply to jeremiah, finally found e71 in tesco as he said and...what a disappointment! the dark silver version looks great in all these photos on the internet but just wait till you see one in the flesh- it just looks incredibly cheap and nasty and almost toy-like. hopefully the black version will look better, if not i won't be buying it.

Last week I was in the Chech Republic and was surprised to found this phone in a mobile phone shop. The recent BenQ Siemens problems didn't seem to have affected the East European market. Does anyone know if a mayor release for Europe can be expected? The phone looked and felt very good. The black model looked even better than the silver version.

Hallo, I got mine E71 today. Its a good phone> It looks very nice and everything works perfect. It is like EL71, the only different. it has got a radio and the icons are differnt and the themas are different. The icons on EL71 are looking better. I paid 220 euro.

I just got one, it is really powerful, Qvga tft display, mp3&aac ringtone and playback, FM radio..the only bad thing is the battery is 730Mah. However, it is very good design than before.

How can you compare it with Nokia 6230? Design is much better, slimmer and different material is used. second the screen is much more better i.e. 208 X 208 pxl vs 240 x 320 pxl. and a lot of improvements in the menu structure and functions like streaming etc. Siemens must sue Nokia, as it has started to copy slider phones...

Hi Everybody, First of all BENQ-SIEMENS E71 is not a copy of NOKIA. The dicine is alos different. Siemens makes all the time different dicines and other mobile companies make the phones that look just the same. For example SE phones look al the same only a few changes.Siemens made always better phones, the only problem they had and maybe sometimes still have is the software crashes. But thats something Siemens can solve.I orderd now EL71, then I will buy E71 and then SL91.
