  • No wifi

  • After using such classic BB for 4 years, i inevitably switch to a newer model BB. Its high tx speed is great and a real worldwide mobile phone (eg. can be used in land of the rising Sun). One of the reasons to the switch is lack of Apps support by Blackberry and upgradability in OS. Still very much appreciate BB team innovated such device for businessmen.

  • It has a browser if you have a blackberry contract. If that's not set up right your network provider should be able to send the setup to you. If you're looking online Google "blackberry 8707 browser disappeared" for a few tips off the blackberry forum to get it working.

  • You get BBM by having a blackberry contract (BIS or BES)

  • These smartphones are cheap as chips on Ebay. Expect to pay about GB£20 (about US$30). The phones are easy and cheap or even free to unlock. Upgrading the operating system is child's play. So too is overriding any corporate "IT policy" you sometimes find installed on a second-user phone. With a restrictive IT policy still in place, this can prevent full use of the handset. Using a standard mini-USB data cable and a PC, third party software such as the BOLT web browser and the Google gmail client can be installed on the phone. Both these applications are free to download. Once these software packages installed, you no longer need to pay for a Blackberry data contract. A simple low-cost generic data plan is adequate. I have hacked several 8707v and 8707g Blackberries for the sport of it, and have passed them on to friends as fully functional "Crackberries". With a PAYG deal from the Three.co.uk cell network, the handsets provide full internet access and email for just GB£5 every three months! Voice calls with PAYG are still quite expensive on Three, and that's partly the fault of Research in Motion, the makers of the Blackberry. RIM have steadfastly refused to release a Skype client for their handsets. However, there are other methods for bridging voice calls onto VoIP.... I would be interested to hear from anyone wishing to pursue open source development of "call bridging" solutions using Blackberries... Expertise in Linux, Asterisk, Bash scripting, C, and Java for embedded systems would be pre-requisites. All the best, Edwin [email protected]

  • Its kinda fun to look back, a time when Blackberries were silver colored now everything is black, they all look the same to me, the storm and pearls are the only ones that look a bit different, I see no difference between a Tour and a Bold and most importantly they should try a different form factor and maybe just maybe they can compete on level ground with others, Touchscreen on the storm was a bad idea, it had a lot of issues, they just do something like a Touch Pro

  • The phone is absolute rubbish, its like holding a brick and masturbating in a single hand (Very awkward) It's very hard to use and has very limited means for expansion

  • ay maichod convert in indian (its good)

  • Dude, this phone is like three years old. Look at the Blackberry Bold for a better comparison.

  • this phone bores me no camera too big and the look it not my thing the botton looks sucks

  • just let me say this jason who calls people on blackberries i dont thats why i have razrs there small and cool i have a motorola Q9h and blackberry 8800 i dont care about the size i just feel that phone like blackberry and the motorola Q9h dont deserve to be called on plus it wastes the batteries life alot i dont recive or make calls on these phones its ok for sidekicks cause there more compact and have a good battery life time and the slide/swivvel thats just my opinion but why would u call on blackberries i dont think thats what their for i think there for email,i.m and other businesss stuff butt when are they gonna bring out the 20 e-mail client support and hats what im talking about that would be the next version of the 8800 serias cause i could do with that

  • hey guys , is there anyone can tell me whts the password for the usb ? cuz i cant put music or anything on my BB via my laptop .... i got BB softwear but as soon as i plug to my laptop ... they asking me 4 usb password ... so pls help me

  • I am looking to buy a blackberry 8707g I only want it to make calls and send SMS can I use it just for that on prepaid? the blackberry is 2nd hand on ebay

  • if u miss ur computer while on the move, then the BB is the substitute.surely it is smaller than ur laptop and gives u enough features for work, fun and entertainment when ur away from ur computer.I am enjoying it.

  • Dear All My Blackberry phone alarms at early hours of the morning due to her Outlook Calendar appointments for the day. Can you advise on how we can stop it from happening please.

  • I actually have the phone a moth ago,the phone is actually been used by my sister. When my sister decided that we swap phone i immediately grab the opportunity. But the the thing is i cant connect to the wireless connetion coz i was a prepaid subscriber back then and when i talked to my friends they infromed me that i have to be in a poset paid account for me to be able to connect but when i already a postpaid user my network provider told me that i have to subscribe to the blackberry service and that will be for a additional i said yes immediately The blackberry 8707 is worth it!! i can connect anywhere, anytime i want even though there is no cam available but that doesn't matter.. Even if im speaing a bit on this gadget but its ok... iloe it it really reflects on my personality just a little bit more on the navigation!!!

  • We are now living in the technology friendly world, so that everybody is seaching for a hand phone which is having the most advanced technologies like digital camera, 3G, internet services and touch screen optin. The only problem for me in this phone is some of the above features is missing. But I like the design and the brand BLACKBERRY very much, I am waiting for this for a long time, that I thought that BLACKBERRY also will bring a mind blowing hand phone with full of impressive features and in an affordable price. Still I am waiting for this... Thank you.

  • no camera, no memory ,its not a phone!!!

  • As a prior HTC windows mobile user the bb8707 feels very awkward. Supplied by my company's IT people so no fun as yet. I wanted to add a media player to use the phone as an mp3 player. Installed bb software from the bb website, but the Media player hangs up all the time, althouth the phone is connected. Any idea why??? Also, why can't I see the phone from my desktop PC as I could with my HTC. In Explorer nothing. Only in the Bb desktop manager it is online and active.

  • how to increase ring volume?

  • i dont have a blackberry, but i think is a amazzing phone, magic.....

  • Its a good Phone when u come to know how to use it. you can transfer MP3 via bluetooth. MY BB signals are weak don't know why but the calls are ok with good reception.

  • You need to get re-added to the BES the policy came from and get sent a blank policy. You can't delete it off your blackberry, even if you wipe the handheld.

  • Wah Kao... why cannot? I'm using one who listening to MP3 very song! But then... I still prefer my iPod. :)

  • cannot la bro.. bb 8707 is purely business.. u cant put mp3..

  • How can I wipe out the IT Policy in my BB 8707v. which software should I use?

  • Can u play fash videos on this phone ???

  • how can i set internet to my 8707?

  • how can i browsing to internet?

  • I'm very new to blackberry - I've got an 8707 and am trying to figure out how I can play mp3 files. Is this possible and, if so, how. Appreciate any info. Thanks.

  • Although the email service is 2nd to none, this Blackberry is very uncontract reliable. Over my 18 month vodafone contract the phone has been changed 5 times due to different faults. Typically vodafone is considered the best network in th UK, however the 8707v makes it look terible. What Blackberry has the best signal strength?

  • Hi everyone im from Latvia and id really wanted to know - can i put an a memory card in 8707v? or its only 64mb and all?????

  • bb8707v is a good phone.itfast n smooth.n so far i have no problems.it doesnt hang nor does it off by itself..

  • its a good phone..but i wanna know y cant i send music through my bluetooth?

  • @Ragab Tosson You may have to install the BlackBerry Desktop Manager software first, the CD should be included in the package. It also installs the drivers required for the BlackBerry...

  • looking for Bb with wifi which modle do you recmend,

  • i want to purchase the 8707v, is it a useless phone or not?

  • The Blackerry did not charge from the USB port in the PC , I get the same problem from all the company units. Can you please revert to us? Thanks

  • it keeps hanging!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Maximum number of Address Book entries is determined by the amount of free memory available in the device. I've seen people with several thousand addresses, no problem.

  • free synch program from Cingular (AT&T) here:

  • How many phone book entries can blackberry 8707g store? I have over 2000 entries in my outlook that I want to synchronize, but it stops and gives error at entry no 935. If there is a default memory allocation for addressbook, please advise how to increase it to accomodate 2000+ entries. Thanks.

  • hi there if you want to connect your blackberry to mac check this site and only can isync via usb cable. bluetooth not available yet overall its a nice device. greeting duren

  • can anyone tell me if this blackberry will sync with my macbook.

  • I've had the 8707v on trial for some time. I agree with earlier Australian comments, in that Vodafone know nothing about the device (UK also), and one operator said they didn't support it's use as a modem because it's 'flaky'!. Whenever I do use the device as a modem, it keeps dropping the line and keeps switching between GPRS and 3G. Signal control is appalling. calls cut out and people complain they can't hear me. I sometimes can't make calls when showing signal and I have recurring problems sending mail. battery life is poor and can fail over a very short period. The standard holster kept falling off my belt so I bought a solid plastic unit. Overal = excellent idea, very, very poorly executed.

  • Hey Hey Hey !!! Wish i could shout some more . . . Tired of peeps slagging off hardware and companies . . . lets leave vodafone alone. for those of u who want constructive solutions to connecting any blackberry as a modem - read on ! • You can get VODAFONE to activate a PROSUMER model as an ENTERPRISE setup. Speak with your phone agent. They will need the PIN number off the side of the box (7 digit alpha-numeric), along with the IMEI number. The only problem with this is that sometimes, the 8707 will have a hiccup and go back to being a prosumer. Usually its becuase Vodafone UK's lists have gotten twisted and they need to re-provision it (you don't have to reactivate).

  • 1. i downloaded the OS for 8700v which i knew it could read hebrew websites. 2. i i found the 'Semitic language support' .COD file. one part of the solution is to understand that RIM is calling Russian and arabic for Semitic and has one file for both languages. 3. i made an .alx file just like the one present for the korean language support and putted it in the '7100-v4.1.0.292_P1.8.0.144' folder. 4. i putted the .COD file in the java folder. 5. i ran the app loader, selected the Russian font, the device restarted, and Hurra !!!! i can see Russian!!!!

  • Here is the CPU: Intel PXA901 312 MHz processor If u have a cat u don't need a mouse.....

  • is the blackberry 8707g able to recieve e-mails in the russian e-mail format

  • Blackberry is a mini pocket PC ..it is said so !! then where is the CPU and mouse ... fooling us or what ????????? No i am not going to buy this handset .. do whatever u want ... lets see!!!!!!!

  • hi cost

  • WARNING, WARNING, WARNING I'm now on my third Vodafone 8707v (within two months) and can't believe this product passed the most basic phone tests. This product seems to handle email OK, but it is a very bad phone! I agree with some of the other posts with regard to calls fading and blanking out during the call.

  • I'LL TRY TO BE POSITIVE! I have bought this junk device and have found the following: 1) I have grown to love having access to my email so easily. (It does a good job of showing text based emails. (Crap job at handling attachments, with a special crap job on PDF's) 2) Despite being branded with all Vodafone's crap, it can't access Vodafone Live. (Even after multiple calls to Vodafone Tech Support. They don't even have an 8707 unit for tech support.) 3) As an email access device it's not too bad. As a phone, it should be sold to children via toy shops - it's really S**T!. Every call, despite having full coverage, fades in and out or goes blank. So much so that most people I'm talking to say things like: sorry you cut out, are you still there, oh you must be on one of those Vodafone blackberrys.. etc etc... (This phone needs some major work in the phone department.) 4) I've had to switch it back to 2G because the coverage, "just outside Sydney, Australia CBD", is next to useless. 5) Of the seven Vodafone tech support people I've spoken to regarding a number of issues. I believe they have little training on the 8707 and are poorly supported with the product and information. Passing the buck seems to be the best way to get me off the line. (In short, if you buy this product - your on your own babe!) I do wish i could have been more postive, however, if I'd used the words I'd thought more appropriate, I'm sure this post would be removed. To sum up - crap "Vodafone" Blackberry phone, don't wast your money. Dear Vodafone, I am so sorry for my 10 years of blind faith in your ability to delivery working software devices. Please known that I have learnt from my mistakes and will refrain from purchasing products that you have let your genius' re-engineer the software of. Please accept my appolyogies. Your sincerely Learnt my Lesson (P.s: I have had two of the phones with the same issues and have even replaced my sim cards.)

  • I have had 3 of these units now and all keep going wrong!!! fatal errors switching itself off - look good from far but far from good. Maybe if it worked ild have a dif outlook. Here goes unit no_4

  • I have just bought a Blackberry 8707 thru Vodafone and want to use it as a modem via bluetooth for my ASUS laptop, now after trying to dod this myself I took it back to the Vodafone dealer and after 2 days of talking to the 'experts' on the vodafone help desk and the 'experts' at ASUS - all saying it doesn't work blaming the otherones 'drivers' IT STILL DOESN"T WORK. ANY SUGGESTIONS.

  • Guys, Thinking about getting the 8707v through Vodafone obvioulsy... Alot of my mates have the 8700g through Telstra and they love it... Are there any real differences other than battery life between the two fones and i guess looks? cheers,

  • ok where to start... good points for me.. The phone its self is Really really lovely. A lot of work went into the design, Its just the right size and weight, And keys are not too small.. not too keen on the short cuts needed to use it correctly but i would have got used to them.. Bad points for me. The web sites show a really good battery life.. But thats only if everything is turned off.. And with a bit of help from god.. when I started using it I was getting about 17 hours with minimal use per day before it needed charging. On to the OS well for a corporate device its truly worthless.. all that lovely work on the design has been wasted on the OS. Unless you really go to town and buy extra software, when you connect it to your computer there is no easy way to look at the file structure. 3 out of the 5 bits of blackberry software I downloaded wouldnt work.. unlike the other PDAs you can get, the blackberry 8707 comes with naff all software.. over all the design and usability of the hardware is 100%.. really impressed.. but the software is so darn basic and every programs costs

  • Hi People, Firstly, WHAT I DON'T LIKE. I am so sick of this branding crap. Don't try and tell me it is due to providing clients with cheaper phones - WE ALWAYS PAY! However, if they must brand, the manufacturer should make the generic software available for download off their website. (without voiding the warranty!) Secondly - These complaints about Blackberry being a business unit and it shouldn't have a camera or speaker functionality. There seems to be a number of people complaining about be given these features. If you don't like them don't use them. I am in many meetings and love the flexibility of being able to take a photo of the whiteboard after a meeting. I also love the flexibility of placing an import client call one speaker phone so other partners and myself can jointly communicate with our client. If you don't think these sort of features are good - you must not be too high up in your firm. If you keep up your moaning about limiting phone features - you just may get your wish: featureless branded phones that aren't really compatible with other Telco networks and all for an "over priced" purchase price. Sounds like a good investment, were do I buy one - Not! We already pay too much for data on Vodafone plans. Not to mention the AUD$799 for the Blackberry phone.

  • buying now add ? germany - frankfurt

  • anyboby knows which company produce this phone for Blackberry?

  • I think the actual device is great. I've got big fingers and thumbs but can easily use the keyboard. The other controls and screen are wonderful too. Slight problem is that at the moment I can't get mine to work because seemingly there are 2 different models the Prosumer and the Enterprise and guess what,I've been sent the wrong one. You need to specify the Enterprise if you want to connect it to your server using the Enterprise Server software. I can't find anything on either the Blackberry or Vodafone site which explains this so just be careful when you are ordering so that you get the right one.

  • Is this the only brand without a pathetic camera and mp3 attached... Ill have the g3 blackberry thanks.

  • I like blackberry series phone, very very good!

  • This phone is great I use all functions and its alot better than my previous Blackberry 7230. Awesome job RIM love my blackberry

  • I have absolutely no use for camera or mp3 player in a data device such as this. This would be used primarily for business functionality, which cameras and mp3 players are not.

  • not bad

  • Camera? Mp3? Card slot? tv out? useless

  • The fact that most phones have a camera it DOES not mean that Blackberry has to follow that trend. I use the 8700r model and I am very satisfied of its features; we could use more memory but who cares bout the camera...? A 3G phone is not made for a camera but for the speed of which data can be sent/received or how fast you can send/receive an email with attachments and so on. You want a camera in a phone ? So many brands to choose from, not Blackberry. Thank God is this way... For cameras, buy a Nikon, a Canon or else. That's what they are supposed to be for...

  • Somebody plz tell me that i am about to buy this black berry, now after comparing it to the 7730, which is better, i mean the votes are better for the 8707 but after hearing all the reviews u guys gave about the card acceptor, i am not unsure. so would it be worthwhile to buy the 8707 or just stick with the successful model 7730? plz gimme a reply asap, i need a blackberry bad... :)

  • 3G is not just video calls - it supports 3G for broadband speed GPRS connection!!! Making it faster to download emails!! DUH!!!

  • how d f..............k this fone is a 3 g when it doesnt has cameraaaaaaaaaaa?

  • Re: BlackBerry #8707 V Compared to #7290 Model, here is what We do NOT like. 1) The keypad is smaller and very difficult to type on compared to #7290. 2) The SIM Card "Acceptor" is terrible. One cannot without GREAT difficulty, insert and remove SIM Cards Without scratching them. The SIM Card "Acceptor" on Model #8700 g has the same terrible "acceptor". 3) The best SIM Card "Acceptor" was used by RIM on Series #7200. It was made by AMPHENOL Group in the Heilbronn, German plant. With this "Acceptor" one can easily switch SIM Cards without damage to the cards!!! 4) We suppose that most end users today merely insert one SIM Card for the life on the BlackBerry. We are different because we frequently have to use different SIM Cards in the same BlackBerry!!! 5) Amphenol Group terms their product as a "SIMLOCK ACCEPTOR". Someone should contact RIM about these faults. Thank you!

  • I have used RIM's blackberries of various flavors for about 3 years. Particularly I was used to love these 7x series, and the 7230 (it was the ultimate perfect device). Recently I've had for about a year the 7290, a little eavier and a bit fatter but, well, I could still cope with that. Recently I have got a brand new 8707v. Not for long, for about two weeks now. Well, guys, there was this one thing I was used to like very much in blackberry devices: battery life. Although these new 87xx models presents a stilish user interface (useful?) and a good loud speaker (necessary?), and a bright screen (better then the transflective? really?) battery life makes it unaceptable. If you technical guys at RIM are reading this, take it seriously, also I recommend you to walk upstairs to the marketing department (yes, those guys like me wearing a sharp dark suit that look at you as they were intelligent) and tell them that fooling culistomers with aleged improved battery life on brochures, probably makes you earning new customers but puts a serious question mark on your capacity to delivery effective improvements and interpret business needs. For gadget phones we have other brands, for office mobility, so far, blackberry was ideal. Facts speak for theirselves and much louder than the new loud speaker (necessary?). Take your bb 87xx out with you for three days on a business trip and will become a paper holder befoure you board your return flight. And no, I don't do more calls today than I was doing 1 month ago with the previous 7290 version. Sorry for sharing this with you. But watch out, there is a lot going on in the mobile market and if you loose on the grounds that have set you a part from all the other vendors, you end up deluding your customers and doing someonelse a favor.

  • no camera?..no mp3? hah..amatures like you should stick to phones more your age, blackberry devices are for adults and for ...go play with your hotwheels now litte boy.

  • this phone is designed for business users who need to work while on the move..so it doesnt need camera or an mp3! it is one of the best phones fromt he company if you use it for the purpose it is designed for!

  • no camera, no mp3, no memory. bad phone from the company

  • It doesn't have an Intel chipset!!

  • good blackberry , is exclusive for vodafone?
