BlackBerry DTEK50 - User Reviews

  • Go on Ebay. You can get almost anything there. Also , try crackberry website. If they don't sell it, someone on their forums will be able to tell you where to get one. Good luck.

  • You can find lcs on ali e pres... IT IS ABOUT 25 DOLARS.

  • My BlackBerry phone screen has cracked and does not touch anymore I have gone around different towns and no one seems to have replacements.Where can i get a screen for this phone

  • My touchscreen crash, no respon. I want to replace but i dont know where i can buy U have recomeend. Please

  • Things need to improve in BlackBerry DTEX50 1. The battery drain so fast, just enough for around 8 hours. 2. 16GB internal storage is far behind enough for 2019 productivity apps. 3. Heat dissipation trough steel grill is good but it feel to the hand. 4. Storage slot can up to 2TB but it comes with a lot of technicality and skills to the successful install in.

  • i want buy a bb but i decided now i 'll buy a oneplus 6 .

  • BlackBerry DTEK50 has a serious issue with its battery being drained REALLY fast!

  • Had my dtek 50 for a few years, worked pretty good before but been having trouble lately, slow and glitch. Thought it was wearing out but reading these reviews sounds like they simply stopped updating the phone. Sorry to all of you if you just bought it now. Going to be getting a new phone myself at this point.

  • This phone is the Blackberry version of the Alcatel Idol 4. I personally like the Alcatel as it looks high end compared to this Blackberry. The battery really sucks on this phone as a lot of power is used to drive the sounds thru stereo speakers. The rest of it is not bad but no updates since Android 6.

  • Just replying to the question about the Z10 and the DTEK50, I used to have a Z10 and now have a DTEK50. The Z10 has a good screen, vibrant colours but is simply no match for the DTEK50 which is an Android phone and has many clever features. I actually can t think of anything negative to say about the DTEK50, I know that you could compare its specifications to other phones but it is a very nice phone .

  • If you want a good camera or even an average one,I would stay away, cannot updatesecurity software, heres me thinking this is the most secure phone! the screen is alrightand no lag detected, sometimes apps do not respind immediately but so far not a problem, I paid the right price for mine, anyone spending anymore than £100 will be looking to return it.

  • hi, i am also a Z10 user and plan to buy dtek50. Is it really a lot of trouble when using it? Please compare with Z10. thank you

  • how update software cant update

  • Blackberry is incompatible with a lot of apps. Most likely, the one that makes problem to you is Zedge. Just uninstall it, and you will be fine. If you don't have Zedge installed, google for other apps that can cause this problem. Ask me anything else if you need.

  • When restarting this phone theres a problem " it says Optimizing App 1 of 1 in my case it takes Ten Minutes before the fon can Operate Normally again. How to Fix this never Ending Scrolling. thank you or please Send Software Update to Fix this Problem.

  • try here for update sort - need to disable Google services

  • Phone will not update, keeps showing some kind of error message and or verification fail. Speaker grilles get clogged with dust and lint right out of the box. Phone is fast and snappy though. Keep in mind you will be stuck on marshmallow forever. Can't believe they won't update this phone. LED notification light is actually the front flash for camera. You cannot adjust the color or Flash rate. You are stuck with their settings. I returned this phone within 24 hours

  • It IS normal (my friend has this phone and tells me it is)

  • nope

  • I swear to God that I won't buy any BlackBerry phone ever again. No, I'm not new BB user, I have used bold, q5, priv, and now dtek50. And honestly, ever since they left BB OS, their device became trash. I thought "okay, maybe priv is bad because it was their 1st android phone", so I moved to dtek50 expecting something better. But no. It was no better at all. I mean, it is usable, but phones like this you can find for way less money. Cons: -1st of all, interface and user experience is nothing different comparing to other android phones, so forget old BlackBerry 7 or 10 interface. -Camera is bad. -Bugs... Bugs everywhere... You need to update phone? Well you will need to uninstall Google play services first. You want to restart device? Well here you go "optimising app 1 of 1" for like 1 hour... You want to scroll fb? Why not sudden crush. -Battery is sooo bad. -Charging lasts more than 2 hours...

  • TCL is Mexican company ;)

  • Does this phone even have a fingerprint scanner?!

  • A very glitchy phone. Not a blackberry like my old one. Something wrong with the engineering

  • I just switched from Z10 to DTEK50 and I did not regret it

  • Worth it to switch from iPhone to Android

  • Is this phone effective in 2018, should i buy it? for normal use ], my phone now is z10 blackberry

  • True. The problem is new blackberry phones are made by Chinese company named TCL. Original blackberry were made in Canada

  • I bought two blackberry dtek50 phones and after 6 months of using them I'm ready to say that THEY SUCK. I miss the crap out of my Samsung note 5, and Samsung 6s edge plus. The blackberry phone is slow, glitchy, and cheaply designed. The phone stinks from its hardware, to its software, to its inferior battery with charging problems. A cheap copycat phone from a dying company. Ive never had an iPhone, but I'm going back to my samsung.

  • BlackBerry DTEK50 - is absolutly the same = Alcotel Idol 4 BlackBerry DTEK60 - it is = Alcotel Idol 4S

  • Buy Blackberry DTEK60 Dual SIM Smartphone Also Knows as BlackBerry Neon 2 Comes with 5.5 inches IPS Display, Android OS v6.0 (Marshmallow), 21MP rear and 8MP front Camera with flash, 32GB internal Storage while 4GB RAM. The processor is Dual core 2.15 GHz and Dual core 1.6 Kryo based on new Snapdragon 820 chipset and Li-ion 3000 mAh battery.

  • If you are used to BBOS10 then I would not touch the DTEK50. The Hub is well integrated and works most of the times. Just Google accounts do not seem to be able to get integrated well. Missing contacts from time to time an messages displayed double etc. made me using Google Mail for the Google account and the Hub for the main account. Picture password is still missing. And I have lost hope that I will ever see it on this phone. Other than that it is not a bad phone. I do not have issues with the battery as stated by other posters. Though that does not mean much as I still use my OS10 work horse as it does it all and the way you would expect it. That makes the DTEK50 just a test balloon for me which may end up as a toy at some point. Though the battery cannot get replaced easily, which could even make it a case for the recycling bin. Blackberry is concentrating on its core business though does not seem to be able to get the hub well integrated or picture password implemented though other phones use it. That leaves me puzzled as the core business was meant to be the software development. And especially there Blackberry seems not to get the expected grip on the subject.

  • its single or dual sim...i want to buy thish fone..i need ur opinion this fone

  • Can someone tell me briefly about this phone

  • This phone is bad would not recommend to anyone i have had it for 4 months now. it hangs alot and the battery won`t last 6 hours . waste of money

  • Earphone Volume level on my phone automatically reduces to 50% from max volume when earphones are connected. Please help how to set Max volume with earphones connected.

  • My seytem is marshmallow 6 it is the latest for dtek50

  • you need to upgrade the system

  • Any one have this problem ( unfortunately Facebook has stopped) not just Facebook more applications occur many time in a day and work after restart the phone this problem annoying me

  • Horrible!! Wont last for even 4 hours after heavy usage like non-stop youtubing or gaming.

  • Lasts for only 3-4 hours after heavy volte data usage. Might last for an hour more if wifi used.

  • Bought this last year, November. I must say, it's a great phone! I just hope BlackBerry to consider upgrading this phone to Nougat at least (Oreo is already here) aside from giving latest security patches. All in all, I am very satisfied with this phone.

  • I think oppo a37f better than black berry battery back up best useing good camera super amazing performance So friends leave all type of Android devices go get oppo a37f .iam using now look simple but very good for our money

  • Does it support VOLTE

  • so not pleased with dtek50. lags, get real hot fast battery life is horrible, MASSIVE drainage i spend more time using it while it's plugged in low ram, everytime I get an update it fills up more, then slower, then more lag then hotter overall i really dislike this phone, sickens me that i wasted money

  • I like blackberry for simple reason that i can get 1gb of data for R57.00 , i wonder whether the DTEK50 allows bb10 then i will buy it now

  • No bro... I case of heavy using of mobile data... it only lasts of maximum 3 hrs bro... is battery life weak of BlackBerry dtek 50 ... or my BlackBerry dtek 50 battery is weak... ?

  • I have blackberry z30 u can use Facebook lite vibes Imo and telegram but not face book and messenger not instagram

  • Very nice smartphone with current updated features. The only concern is the poor, delicate screen. Easily breakable at a slight fall. My one month DTEK50 can't respond as screen cracked slightly at the lower edge. Can't believe there is no service centre, replacement screwn available in the market. Nice phone but now it's useless. So disappointed!

  • Very good for its price. Good feeling in hands - sharp cut metal frame, rough back, very thin, good camera

  • Hi; I'm not blackberry user bt now I'm want blackberry smartphone pl rply any one ... • any one knows exact date of blackberry aurora lunching ....plz tell me

  • Can u plz tell me may I use jio sim(India) in blackberry dtek50

  • I dislike how even BB switched to Android. I know Android is getting better, but this makes a Blackberry phone lose originality.

  • If you are looking for BlackBerry dual sim phone then just wait for BlackBerry aura ... launch June 2017.

  • DTEK50 is a single sim device ... but a very good and value for money device good display.. Good maxx audio dual speakers loud enough, good design , And mainly lite weight device with all blackberry security feature on top. I rate it 8 out of 10

  • read somwhere about expandable memory on dtek50 upto 256, uses sim2 slot, please confirm if its a dual sim phone with hybrid sim 2 slot?

  • I would be very surprised to find the feature being implemented in hardware but I am open to learn new things. The GPU is good enough for quite a number of games and moving a picture has been one of the very first features ever implemented in hardware. Scrolling works on viewers without any problems. I can not quite follow the logic. In the end it is simply displaying a grid of numbers on the background and finally checking the target area for presence and content of the text field. That the graphical part is working gets shown by certain third party apps mimicking this behaviour. The encryption part is working too, otherwise pattern should not work either.

  • Have just added 2 of these to the Company "fleet" and I have to say that I am very pleasantly surprised!!! Feels premium, looks premium, and so far there has been a surprisingly positive response from all who have come into contact with them. Also, the price.. with the current discount in place this really is very good value for money. Well done Blackberry!!

  • Unfortunately, only BlackBerry devices with higher end SoCs like PRIV and DTEK60 (SD808 and SD820) support Picture Password for BlackBerry Android.

  • The DTEK50 is the only Android phone of BlackBerry that does not support the BlackBerry Picture Password. Which in accordance to BlackBerry is the most secure way to login. As well as from my experience. BlackBerry support flags safety concern in modern browsers as the company has problems to make it secure. So much to a company specialising in security??? Other than that it is a smartphone with Android and the BlackBerry software which sometimes can be confusing even for the software itself. But mostly working as expected.

  • Can someone run GFXBench and post results.

  • i bought mine within 2month is not longer working only showing light at the top

  • With about 200 euros whats the best deal i can get? Im simple user fb viber whatapp google

  • Q10 was a better phone. This one tries to be a computer... but various functions gradually stop working. Bring back the old Blackberries!

  • You blame Blackberry because Snapdeal did not provided warranty for you. Please don't buy anything.

  • Try disableing wi-fi when not needed also location services chews up lot of battery life.

  • I bought this phone 2 months ago and I am really enjoying it. The built quality is amazing. Before buying it I heard from reviews that it does not score well with the battery but I would I am satisfied with it, I used to have a HTC one X and this one is way better. I would recommend this phone to new buyers. It is worth the price

  • is BB DTEK50 suports 4G sim??? pls let me knw,,,

  • The battery sucks... wont last even half day. with 2610 mAh, if the fon cant last half a day.. Dont have much words..

  • Where u got the mobile

  • seems like a bossy blackberry that can get the job done

  • Bought it from BB direct last August. Wonderful fast gadget in every way. Love its camera and the speed of operation.

  • It's a sbit device. I bought this device from Snapdeal and after using for a month device power key and volume key stopped working. When I contacted BB for support they said they can't help it coz I bought this from Snapdeal, so I contacted Snapdeal for help however they said it's more than a month so we can help you. So I invested 22 k and got a device that worth nothing. Do not buy this device as it is wastage of money.

  • love to hear from a iphone user..most cases BB users are rare, atleast in most peer groups..even in my office/friend circle i stand alone as the only BB addict..most other with either iphone/samsung, may be strange in my case,,however coming to this forum atleast gives pleasure on great reviews..my devices from BB curve/bold/z10 and now Dtek50..may be i never thought, neither bothered trying other brands..i loved the handy look of iphone6, although have thought of getting one before i landed with dtek50... but didnt want to miss my hub and BB as whole... May be the decision was right since i lov my dtek so much...its quite a great daily driver meeting all my business/proffesional needs..a decent battery, handy, impressive camera,,all in one..quite happy with almost 8 months user now..

  • as i said i bought it last week and i am more than saticfie w the battery and performance . its fast like hell .. specialy the keyboard rocks... it fit your hand very well ...i am very happy w my choice .

  • How is the Dtek 50 phone overall and how is the batter in particular?

  • to just give u an simple answer : i am more using DTEK50 than my iphone 6 since i bought my device .

  • i found both at the same level ...i mean ...thats different experience to work with Android device than ios devices ..... i have both and and i really enjoy both at the same level ...my DTEK50 has exact size and weight for me .... i dont like heavy big devices so my blackberry satisfying me more than enough .

  • Hi, just since i found you got used with both iphn6 and dtk50.. could you please advice which you fellt better.. just on grounds of normal usage like message emails, calls etc..also to hold. thanks..

  • people who complain about the battery they dont know how to care the battery of this device ....i just bought this device last week and my battery last one day exactly and thats the same as my iphone 6 ...i am very happy with my phone

  • STH-001 - America's version STH-002- Asia & Europe.

  • I had a z10 and it lasts only 3.5 hrs. Actually z10 is v poor in battery backup

  • Marius in your opinion what can you say about bb dtek 50 mobile phone in terms of security is it reliable and trust worthy even i it's android from the scale of 1-10 where is this dtek 50 belongs in terms of security. Thank you very much , for your honest opinion.....

  • I was wondering what is the diffrence between DTEK50 STH100-2 & DTEK50 STH100-1 ?

  • i have some issue with my phone . google map not working proper and i cant load it up . should i wait for new android marsholow soon on my dtec ??? it not support arabic language ?

  • This is a phone designed for selling in mass to corporations. If you are a casual user of smartphones: email, youtube, calls, text messaging, then you'll have no problems with this phone whatsoever. Blackberry's additional software is actually useful, and provides lots of information regarding the security of the phone. If you are a heavy phone user, get an external battery. Blackberry phones are designed to be bricked if you try to root it. If you are a gamer, then this device is clearly not designed for that.

  • Hi. Fonts on my device suddenly changed after connecting to the Net. Any solutions please?

  • z10 is verymuch disappointing in his battery

  • its not worth it

  • Very true

  • Thanks

  • Blackberry is known for productivity, security and corporate usage. If your expectations are of games and battery life then it's better to chose a gaming console ( for games) and Xiaomi Note 4 phone ( same SoC and massive battery) Hopefully this will help you.

  • Please you didn't answer my questions correctly. Thanks.

  • Pls is the phone good for gaming and does the battery last? If yes how many hours does it take you both on light and heavy usage?

  • Hi. I seen your comment, reference the DTEK50 and you say you'd post a reply regarding the comparison between iPhone5. Anything to report please as I too still using iPhone5 with no issue as present. Also, can I ask if you a Boxer or a Hot Model lol .. Just that its in the name ;) Ciao 4 Now Paul

  • I am using this phone for last 5 months.... Nice phone for its price. Initially I was bit skeptical about this phone when I purchased... but find to be very satisfied.

  • BlackBerry rocks. I had several models for past 10 years. Would not change it for anything else. Ever. Never. BlackBerry fans know what I am talking about. My family has 4 phones, 4 different brands. So, my 3 family members have awesome phones, apparently. They laugh at me and my BB but: one dropped the phone - has broken screen, one has no pics flash anymore after kids dropped it, one has dead speakers already. All 3 phones about 1 year old. And my BB? Guess what? Dropped it million times (no protection case at all) and screen still looks like knew. I listen to music loud as loud as can be and still has great sound, pictures still great, love the SD option, 16GB phone but 10GB still free and phone is loaded. Battery life great (charging it at night only and I use this phone a lot). Had this phone for almost 3 years. Battery problems (like overheating) happened once and phone started acting. Bought battery for $40 and BB became a brand new phone. And I am only talking about BB Z10. I don't have a reason for new phone yet but if I decide to get one in the future it will be definitely BB AGAIN.

  • Pathetic phone..had to sell 1 day after I purchased..slow internet..rubbish customer service..went to 3 different places as advised for service centre and all the service centres have been shut down..amazing bb experience which I had in bold 3 has been rugged off..end of BlackBerry

  • Great opinion

  • BlackBerry should bring in phones less than 5in. Like Apple. The will sell like hot cakes. Most of the users will agree that handling above 5 inch phones are still a nuisance. Think about it BB.

  • Got January security update today. Straight from November 1 to January 5

  • Doesn't have dual sim,only one-single, and external storage, card slot .

  • How to insert the dual Sim on this device please tell me

  • Did I get wrong or, front camera ,At artificial light make photos, little bit "pink"...did I missed some settings ,or update, or,..what can be problem? Thanks

  • Single

  • This phone has single or Dual SIM slot?

  • I purchased a DTEK50 in October to replace my 1st-Gen MotoX. I find that the performance is good, the phone feels secure in my hand, and I don't find myself becoming frustrated with the performance at all. The battery-life is on par with my MotoX when it was new - that is to say it needs to be charged daily if it's actually being used. I added a 32G SD card, which the device encrypted and 'joined' with the internal memory without any tinkering from me. In all, I'm quite happy with this device and would recommend to those friends and family who use their mobile device similarly to me.

  • 16Gb with removable SD card? Does it still a most secure phone if you to lose it? After some thought I now preferred a phone with internal memory, hope will see it soon from you, Blackberry.

  • Great design working superb, but I don't understand why it is most secured, how to lock the data? Only the drawback is mobile is getting heat when I connected charger ... battery is little bit low

  • No, It is Free for blackberry Phones.

  • Yes. Its good value for the spec. Excellent Build quality, Very Light weight, crystal clear display with all the advantages of running the Android platform. I like the DTEK50, its discreet (the first blackberry phone produced without the logo on the front. The branding on the back is embossed into the rubber-like backing but also discreet.) Its strong as well....I dropped mine from the first floor of my office down a flight of stairs, It hit the last stair and not a scratch.

  • Blackberry is trying too hard and they dont make it. Huawei is better

  • Likewise for Lumia Phone. Don't understand why BB phones is getting bigger and bigger ? It made phones for entertainment or for peoples on serious business ?

  • Hi Guys, I wish to buy one too but just don't understand what it mean for BB is the most secured phone ? Do we still need to download security Apps from store and pay for premium ?

  • One day.

  • How many days does the battery lasts at normal usage?

  • Front camera ,when I make selfie ,at artificial light, everything seams little bit "pink"..outside-daylight more or less normal colors..is that ok, can I make some settings?

  • Is this dual sim phone?

  • i bought this a week ago..so far working fine. camera is good in day light, sound is very clear i don't feel mobile weight at all and awesome display.but the battery is not as expected they should consider the battery when they improve the features in the new products.that is only the minus point. other than this i love it..nothing wrong. but still i prefer Blackberry OS... if all the android apps support i would never think about an android at all..

  • pin unlock is more secure.

  • This mobile is best in its class. Really blackberry come hard this time. The keyboard is excellent. It is easy to type. Camera is great. It has very very clear display. The sound of this mobile is best. It is very secure mobile. Everything is good about it at a reasonable price. Perfect

  • BlackBerry hub has auto sync for all apps , You should switch off auto syc for apps you don't use frequently. Do this and you would see battery results upto expectation

  • i have 250 libras, which should i buy?

  • Today is dec. 24 , I have dtek50 my security patch is still Oct. 5 no available update for bb dtek50 security patch. I'm from PHL.

  • 330€ for Snapdragon 617. You are kidding me, right? TELL ME YOU ARE KIDDING ME

  • Nope, it is low quality and too high price for specs. Tell me your budget and I say which phones are good for you

  • BB 50 is a super phone. I bought this last month phone, it was working fantastic. The camera and picture clarity is superb. I recommend this phone to every one. The look is awesome.

  • Hi everybody, On/off button seams faulty, hmmm ,how I can explain, move a little bit, is not "hard" .,and with small finger touch is already inside, work for moment , but "click " feeling is "somewhere" totally deep in phone body inside . Is this because of using ,or is something is broke inside,. On the opposite side volume button is "normally" hard, stay totally up from telephone body, and had a stronger touch "clack" felling .Phone is new, less than 2 months :-(

  • so whats yo point?

  • even WITH QUICK CHARGE2, WITH 5.2, 424ppi 1080p screen & 2610mAh, the battery drain fast & u must to keep a POWERBANK inside ur handset

  • NO FINGERPRINT SD 617 HAVE HEATING PROBLEM crappy phone no value at all with 230$ dollar, u have more better choice than this shit

  • heating during updating is normal as installing puts alot of stress on the cpu.and heat during charging is also normal as it has quick charge technology which uses higher voltage to charge the battery faster resulting in a littl more heat than normal chargers would produce.and about the camera it may get fixed in future updates

  • Hi... Am facing heating issue.. Mostly during updating, charging & using camera.... Camera clarity is very poor even in good light conditions. Any suggestion for the both the cases???

  • BlackBerry went out of market ages ago, the company is struggling to recover investment cost that's why they are just throwing any dam product in market. This phone is nothing but just a copy of other android phones (ie: Mi)

  • Do you face heating problem now?

  • Should I buy BlackBerry dtec50? The guys who use this phone Do you recommend me

  • I buy this phone

  • dtek50 lacks sensitivity of the touch screen, the reason why there are times it fails to send a txt message, you have to push the screen harder to send a message if you're lucky, please send software update to Fix this problem. thanks

  • Special for Mr.Ankit. I think OK for the other features no increase significantly, but you're wrong about there is not 4G in there, there was LTE, Network name completely 4G LTE. And the main point of DTEK50 has the Most Secure of Smartphone eventhough operate it rather difficult, and then it has the great surround sound to be heard. BUT, the price is more expensive.

  • yes

  • blackberry plz upgrade your knowledge..you make perfect size of phone but think is that have no gorilla glass ,no 4g and increase the front camera..ram..ios, battery size..and price is around 15000rupees ..it is perfect for normal class person according to me..

  • Yes.. I am also facing.... It seems to be abnormal.....

  • I used to own a BB 8900 curve; that phone was awesome until the track ball malfunctioned. I am currently using an iphone 5; it's old but I've never had any problem with it. I'm just a regular phone user--calls, sms, plus instagram and viber. So after reading lots of positive feedback about the BB DTEK50, I've decided to buy one asap. I will post my comments as soon as I get my hands on the said phone. Keeping my fingers crossed! :D

  • I have NOT receive any update with my dtek50, my last update was October

  • Hi... any one facing heating problem with DTEK50?

  • Hi.. Anyone received update for December month(Dtek50) in India... Build number- AAH990.........

  • According the the BB site, this thing does have an FM Radio, and does support USB OtG.

  • How to Turn off all background process? Thanks

  • Yes!FM radio ..is there..

  • Does it have Radio ?

  • I don't like android operating system in BlackBerry.bb os is best for BlackBerry phone. Anyway it's all about public demands.

  • That would need more clarifications. It heats just in idle or with any particular use? if so, which app/process?. likewise while idle charging there should not be any heating unless using some heavy apps or process. Ideally for better battery life and for normal heating issues, i suggest you may follow the below, (which worked for me in having more juice.) >Keep your brightness to 30% >Disable Location >Turn off all background process >force stop those applications that shows battery usages even without usage >change your themes to pitch black(only if you are not concerned of using any wallpaper) The above should solve your issue with heating also, if any application is the culprit.

  • I am also facing heating issue in dtek50.. Mostly in the metal frame while using as well as charging... Note : Normal use and havn't installed any other application apart from pre-installed things. Any solution....

  • You may scipe down from top and adjust screen brightness. However am not sure if this alone would solve ur heating problem. Just check if any of your apps working background. if so you may close or even force stop for better results. I had been using my dtek50 since 4 months now and havent faced any issues, also to mention am not a gamer and would nt know how it reacts in gaming, however again on just surfing, youtube,fb, whatsup.it all works fine...

  • why don't u come out with models like z10 quite awesome and cool.lile to have another please update the models....

  • tesco idol4 £149.00

  • Where can I find in the setting on how to adjust the contrast?

  • It heat because of the contrast of the screen if you decrise the contrast you will no have problem. You have to decrease less than 30%

  • Hey vhl71 i am in Australia and they dnt sell dtek50 here where do i buy one!?

  • Oh yeah same here. I am killing myself between pixel and dtek50!! But as you said those BlacBerry OS features!! Oh man aren't they good!?

  • Actually DTEK50 is a nice phone, and I really appreciate it but am having problem with sim 2 slot, I can't use it at the same time, is there any solution to that? If yes please help me out . Thanks.

  • If only blackberry listens and fix immediately the messaging part of dtek50 or the Messenger itself , there are times or most of the time it will miss to send text " sending " word doesnt go away it freezes dont know if the cause of the freeze is lack or low signal....needs FIX ASAP....

  • 617 and adreno 405 for > $300 . lol blasphemy. Got these same specs in my moto G4 for $150

  • My BlackBerry dtek50 had heating prblm...any one faced this problem?if yes then what's the solution?

  • except Samsung, LG, and Sony... they all have non-removable batteries lol

  • They should build an android with removable battery. I would definitely buy it since almost all the other brands are selling with non removable battery.

  • I have a dtek50. Please note that first off, it does have java. it is a great phone and the android blackberry makes it a wow to have. breaking barriers. The most secure phone. Unlike the iphone or samsung where users sign an agreement that all items on the phone belong to the companies and not you, blackberry does no such thing. if it is drizzling i can function without having to wipe the screen first because of its feature. i have had both an iphone and samsung and was a pain when a drop of water fell on its screen. the body is nice and slim although i have an anti-shock case on it which makes it thick.

  • Maximum users of BB is BB Z10 only, if gives Z10 with android support users will comes back. But BB guys are investing on new BB Android but what abt Z10 users. They should think once.

  • Hi, BB will not make mobiles in future, they are tied up hardware with TCL(Alcatel). Yes this is the same spec of Alcatel Idol 4.

  • DTEK50 mobile launched with the price of 21,990, where as online stores selling it for 24,990. Feeling bad, not to buy it.

  • Blackberry continues doing mistakes and deserves what happened to it. Business users are the ones interested in the textured back and top specs in a one hand form factor phone. Youth and other users are the ones interested in the back glass panel and low specs, big screen and affordable price. Blackberry did exactly the vice versa. No wonder both phones are gonna fail miserably.

  • This is a alcatel Idol copy or it is copy?!!!

  • Hi, Any information about availability in INDIA... (Authorized distributor in india - Optiemus infracom)

  • Available for purchase in INDIA???

  • when the review will appear?

  • I like blackberry coz the camera quality is awesome like from the old models- thoug it has a low MPs still is the best camera but its much expensive-

  • download WhatsApp apk, it works on all BB10 devices. but you must go to app manager setting and ON allow apps from other sources

  • see that video how to install whatsapp after this december for bb10..follow the step..really good video

  • is this phone has physical led notification as previous bb phones??

  • What was the way, ,,to use watsup in BlackBerry Z10 mobile after 31 Dec, ,,pls educate me sir

  • Excellent.. You can go with it. If you are bothered about Whatsapp, there are many ways to install whatsapp on your BB

  • Whatsapp service is being stopped for BB10 OS. Not for the blackberry brand. Even if they block it, you have a feasibility of downloading an APK file and run it on your BB.

  • I guess this is a SINGLE SIM device... But as per specs given in GSM arena - it uses hybrid slot...... Please confirm...

  • Not for Android ( this mobile). Its only for BBOS which i own but i am not worried as we have solutions for it.

  • now blackberry is stoppig wtsapp services from 31st dec 2016, post dec what could be the chances of blaceberry future.

  • I use BlackBerry leap more than 8 month...battery life is good..tghrouh a day..before i sleep I get around 10-15 percent....but leap not good phone for gamer...for social amd browsing,it is nice

  • Its the best android phone for the the money you spend. I've tried pretty much every android there is including Samsung, Sony and LG. Its not the h/w that makes this phone great - its the OS. BB brings the best out of android - the hub, keyboard, productivity tab, swipe shortcuts, tap to wake/sleep etc. I couldn't live without any of these features. That's why even though i liked the google pixel, I decided not to buy it as it doesn't have all those goodies.

  • Hi Can anyone confirm that the idol 4 cases can be used on the DTEK50 , there is alot of people online reporting you can use the same cases with no issues ?

  • Bought BlackBerry Dtek50 two weeks ago and after intense scrutiny of the phone my verdect is that Blackberry is still very much Alive and Kicking, The Best brand Ever and The Best Phone Ever plus Dtek

  • no

  • is it has ois in camera ?

  • This is Alcatel Idol 4 twin brother!

  • heres the thing, 90% ofyou dont know anything about phones much less app disabling, i own this phone, this phone is amazing, its battery is fine, its no huawei battery but its still a workhorse. i wish people required licenses to own phones, but then again companys would never be able to make any money

  • Its already in the Ghanaian Market. Kindly visit CompuGhana

  • what android versiondoes it ude

  • plz lemme know shud i buy this phone. coz the i ve got mixed review. waiting for ua response:)

  • Is this mobile plastic or metal?

  • When will it be available in Ghanaian markets?

  • I think it's for only blackberry 10 devices but this one is android, as per mine whatsapp will no longer support with Blackberry 10, Android 2.1 & 2.2, Windows 7.1, ios 6, nokia symbian s60 & s40...

  • This is a Slim&sexy Model,I love it,thankful to BLACKBERRY (INDIA)

  • will it support whats app and fb...

  • What over priced it's the right price. You can't just secure phone for free. You need to do R&D to make android secure which is a highly insecure OS.

  • Well they made it secure by adding Blackberry security layers to the OS. Android is linux based OS while BB10 OS is too. Linux is a customizable OS so they embedded extra layers of security to the Android OS based on BB10.

  • I still love Blackberry....... I'm an American living in Canada and i really wanted this Canadian Company Blackberry to come back and be the "Trend Setter" they once wore And i'm still hopeful even with the news we just receive recently Hopefully this third party will revamp phone with the latest phone trends while still keeping the security factor!!

  • Which security Android itself the unsecured OS how could Blackberry will make it secured phone as that of ios and Windows phone.

  • This is better but I hope in honor of blackberry android will still allow blackberry used their security process. Thank you

  • Fabulous phone...everything I was hoping for, at half the price of competitors.

  • R.I.P blackberry...gone so soon

  • I like BlackBerry DTEK50 but, this to be bought not enought ,try to being buying.

  • I like BlackBerry DTEK50 but, this to be bought not enought ,try to being buying.

  • it is the best smartphone

  •

  • Had it for a couple of days & returned it, since its nothing more then a typical android device! Blackbery ill b missing u,

  • Looks like the alcatel idol 4s hahaha

  • Blackberry should to produce smartphone dual sim, i like to use it especial asian market.

  • Thats because almost any other phone on the market looks better than the Z5 Compact.

  • when the mobile is going to launch in india..????

  • We have an Android with: 5.2 inches display with 1080 x 1920 pixels resolution, an Octa-core 4x1.5 GHz Cortex-A53 & 4x1.2 GHz Cortex-A53 CPU, 3GB RAM and a 2610 mAh battery. See if you can figure it out how much stand-by can you get form that!

  • May I know your honest opinion about Dtek50 phones battery draining faster is it True. Thank you very much....

  • Very good phone.Safety is number one. Thanks Blackberry.

  • Finally i bought bb dtek50...really a wonderful device for those who already used blackberry 10 phones...this phone is combination of android and bb10...i didn't like android os and i worried to select true thing..i used blackberry z10 almost 3 years and now switched to this dtek50...i m totally satisfied with it as it g

  • i have both z5 compact and dtek50, i think dtek is prettier than my sony. dont know why you think its ugly

  • battery drains fast even when just leafing thru apps tabs. not good. regrets.

  • all the android phones have poor battery wether its samsung or htc or blackberry

  • If you consider buying only hardware, not the software in it buy the cheap china mobile android. I did last time buy Lenovo the price I can get without any updates and the phone last soon as the memory run out. One thing I didn't like android, the apps can keep update all the time even it is error coz no buffer memory, coz drive me crazy and stop using that phone at all.

  • I think you'd better taken out your gmail account from blackberry push email service, and only register your other email other than google services.. So it is still cool feature.

  • why a dyng company didnt realize that battery is one of the contributor factor for the costumer?. BB,youre going to sink again if you continue to make your battery like that. leaf and z3 has the great design but poor battry performance. this phone is ugly and big

  • it is the rebranding or idol 4

  • hahahahaaaa, Samsung? your battery will catch fire and burn you while you are asleep!

  • Alcatel idol 4 lookalike...

  • Battery experience? Display Screen sensibility experience ?in shop I have feeling that sometimes have to touch few times at some icon to open it.

  • Hello, which Color is notification Light? Its possible to be as usuall for BB- Red for sms? and second question: Photo...Is it possible, direct to push button -"move " and easy move in other Folder or is necessary to go "out" to /"all Folder"/camera/than in those "minis" to select /and just then to move in another Folder..in my Samsung that is sooo boring function. Thanks

  • Blackberry DTEK very costly Smartphone.it have a mid range chipset then why it is over priced.

  • Blackberry DTEK and PRIV is the Android phone all apps performing very well but Why you want to stick to the blackberry.I will suggest to go for the other better option like Nexus 6P,Moto Z,or Samsung S7 / S7 edge , Samsung Note 5.If you are much concern about security then iPhone will the best choice. You may go for the iPhone 6s or newly launch iPhone 7 the best one.

  • don't worry dear u can use android version of whats app on ur smart phone u can download apk file from internet.

  • hi friends iam using bbz10,bbq10,but iam getting messages that whatsup will stop working from dec31st is it realy are not and also I need your help for taking blackberry DTEK50 OR blackberry priv, which one is best and also I want know wheather whats up will work or not in this moblies, please any one help

  • hi guys who has difficulty to open gallery its very simple you can open in photos and at the bottom click album, hope you will find your all photos and video

  • I have had this trouble with few phones and use googles own "Photos App" built into Android. If it is not there (which it should) there are plenty of Gallery apps in the store I remember using something called "Gallery" by Flayer Media Ltd.

  • Off course, it does! It runs on Android!

  • Why dont Dtek50 have a photo/media mgnt app like in other android phones? I only can access to photos by start the camera app and access to the photo gallery by the icon at the corner.

  • Dtek50 support whatsapp?

  • BB DTEK50 is the most Secure and the Safest phone in the world to date .

  • When compare to other andriod mobiles in this range., Dtek50 is excellent mobile , I'm using this device past 20days I'm happy with my new BB

  • Really true man bb laged behind coz of this only

  • My Z10 unexpectedly bricked (have 3 of them in the family)- So replaced mine with a new DTEK50 - since pretty much everything OS and accessory wise is Android or Apple - so figured I would have to move there eventually anyway. (Found many Apps I needed were never made for BB platform (Honeywell TC 2.0), and many more soon to be discontinued -i.e. WhatÂ’s App, Etc.) Love the phone itself - Nothing bad to say about it - Excellent features, sound, build etc. - The only unforeseen with the hardware was that it uses a Nano Sim (smaller), not a Micro like the Z10 - so that caused a weekÂ’s extra delay once I had the phone, for my carrier to send me a Nano Sim. Oh, the other thing I will miss is that there is no Micro HDMI port - if thatÂ’s important to you (I found it useful on occasion) - in fact there are no ports other than the headphone jack, and the Micro USB Charge Port. What I am having difficulty with - is the learning curve to get accustomed to the Android OS (after BB OS10) - they should call it Google OS - because it seems riddled with Google with everything you try to use - Google Maps, Google Chrome, Google Pics, Google Drive, Etc. Etc. (Downloaded a .pdf, and it put it in Google drive, without me asking it to .. not used to that, but hopefully it can be changed somewhere in settings - I prefer it to go to my SD card Only. If its touted as the most secure SmartPhone - I sure donÂ’t like Google getting a piece of it every time I try to use a function - Maybe that is just Android in General - as this is my first experience with it. Phone Interface is way different - not as seem-less or intuitive as BB10 for accessing contacts, adding new callers etc. (Maybe I just havenÂ’t figured it out yet, but honestly, a little frustrating, and somewhat disappointing - I hoping that IÂ’m missing something that will improve my experience there. Hub seems like itÂ’s no longer the focal point - just another APP, so when accessing messages in the HUB - the Gmail APP keeps popping up, and makes things complicated vs. the BB10 OS experience. It also seems I get dual notifications for emails once for Gmail, and another for the Hub for each message (Different chime tones) - likely something to be corrected somewhere in settings. The thing is - I got a new phone to be able to conduct business and use as phone since mine bricked - and hadnÂ’t planned on the challenge of having to learn all the quirks and quarks of a new OS to try to figure out how to simply make phone calls, and manage emails, files etc. That being said - put my 64GB SD card from my BB Z10 into the DTEK50, and it fits ok, just havenÂ’t found an App to be able to access it yet, without a concern of it re-formatting my card, and me losing all the data??? - Of course that is going to take a little more time and research to figure it out. Hope this helps someone out there. Still glad I made the choice - and Love the phone itself - Pictures are not stunning - especially in low light - but at least functional for most purposes. Accessories are somewhat limited (like an Otterbox - NOT) - but you can find some accessories for the Alcatel Idol 4 - I guess which is basically what this phone is, with a few software tweaks from BB.

  • Hi bro welcome you from cokoo land. Software is the differentiator forward priv and dtek 50. If you want low cost mobiles try Chinese branded ones like xiomi.. Pls

  • The market wants cheaper handsets. It's an idol 4 minus slippery glass back and some extra hardware to secure the device. That's a good thing.

  • good phone??? it is the same exact phone as the ALCATEL IDOL 3, so that is not something new in the market, bb is getting a step back on key points, who will prefer to buy this phone for more than 400$ if you can get the same phone, same specs under ALCATEL for such a less money!!!

  • The smart money isn't on hardware any longer - it's on software and services. Hardware has hit a city now where it's acceptable across the board and isn't much of a differentiator.

  • Yes, it does under the display settings. It's an option called "colour adjustment".

  • may be dr imdad is right

  • I have used BB Z3 and Classic. I like the "Warm white" display brightness it has. (yellow color display brightness). Does anybody know is BB DTEK50 also has same "Warm white vs Cold white" display brightness balance settings?

  • If my crappy lg leon runs android without any bit of lag i can asure you this bb can run it perfectly. And no virus or any other shit like that. U clearly never used android before

  • BB is a great brand, but the company that produced it is unable to market it properly. Perhaps because Canadians are good people do not know how to lie so they are not successful marketers.

  • i want the bb os on this phone not the a lag droid os(virus, not secure, lagy, etc).

  • battery is dismal. should be at least 3000mAh at current standards

  • I can see blackberry fans and cheerleaders biggin up this average device, this is not 2011, blackberry has lost the plot ages ago and can never get back it's mojo, top phone manufacturers keep getting better and better and new companies like Xiaomi keep on releasing cheaper phones with premium specs. This BlackBerry DTEKT50 or any other blackberry device stands no chance unless they wanna start selling their devices under $160 then maybe, they will get back a few customers that they have lost although I don't think the US senate will be on that list because they have dropped blackberry for good and will never look back.

  • The most secure mobile phone in thw world..#longLiveBlackBerry

  • large bottom bezel but still they put onscreen android nav button?

  • Good phone. BlackBerry is right up there with the Nexus line in terms of backporting security updates. No finger-print reader like Nexus, but expandable storage via microSD unlike Nexus. Probably the best mid-range phone if you want SD card and timely updates.

  • I was a blackberry user before and I didn't notice any thing make its keyboard as a unique. On the other hand I see this phone little more practical for me than the S5 I have now. I guess this phone can help me a lot if blackberry assures that its keyboard can be substituted by SwiftKey as I have doubt about it even it's android phone from blackberry company. I see its weight very attracting feature however its battery is disappointing.

  • - Fast battery charging: 50% in 51 min (Quick Charge 2.0) is this a joke ..?

  • As a Blackberry user I will guarantee you that the phone is better than iPhone.... But less price than iPhone....

  • Idk, most VPN's log and store data for resale, unless you're paying for a premium service that explicitly doesn't do that. It's more than just network data that requires encryption--the hardware on this phone is encrypted from the ground up, so even offline, accessing anything of value on the phone requires a passkey.

  • Have had this for about a week now, after bricking my iPhone 6. I've always had a soft spot for BlackBerry, and this latest iteration, while essentially pure Android with a few BB extras built-in, is a joy to use. Love the hardware, it's sleek, feels great in the hand, and has outstanding display, touch response, audio, and external controls. At this price point, I can run it without a case and not worry too much, whereas I had to baby the iPhone 6 and cover it's gorgeous design in third-party cases and screen protectors--however elegant, they still render the UX impure IMO. Loving Android, love the BlackBerry security features, and very much satisfied with the decision to jump ship, as it were, and pick up an Android BB for the next few months--contract renews in mid-November so I'll have a chance to see if the iPhone 7 is enough to lure me back. Battery life can be so-so, but portable packs are a dime a dozen these days, and I've never had an issue where I'm scrambling to find a charger and outlet cause it's on its last legs. iPhone on the other hand would jump from 27% to 0% and refuse to reboot, only to plug it in and see the capacity jump back to 35%. Bizarre and probably a unique circumstance. Final words, coming from an iPhone 6, this feels like an upgrade. Thanks BB.

  • True

  • Continued from below... Website owners too could expose u..

  • There r many ways to expose u. Eg.. Google, your isp, untrusted vpn's (though they say they r trusted)...

  • I feel its still safer getting an ordinary android phone with vpn. Cos all they need is to get thru the blackberry authority n you r exposed. But for normal smartphones u can just keep changing vpn's until u get the most secured one. If im not wrong no vpn can block the authority(blackberry) from exposing u. Cos they r controlling it. Same goes for the iphone n blackphone..

  • It just launched in Vietnam.Check with the stockist

  • I'll consider a BlackBerry phone secure when what is put on the phone, STAYS on the phone and only on the phone (ie. Google doesn't get a copy). The words "Android" and "Privacy" are mutually exclusive and BlackBerry shouldn't be promoting Android phones as being secure. From hackers, maybe yes. From Google, not a chance. Give me something like a Z10 with upgraded CPU/GPU etc.

  • When will it be available in Vietnam.

  • I am waiting...

  • Not necessarily, for example there are markets in where Blackberry still sells (and sell quite well) phones powered by BB OS6 and BB OS7. There are users who are paying, besides standard subscription, tens or hundreds of euros per month for a BIS or BES subscription. Hardware manufacturers refuse to use Windows because it is a commercial OS and Microsoft asks money for license. That and also the fact that Microsoft it's not giving too much change permissions for their OS. Android software is free and about anyone can use and customize as they wish. This is the main reason why Android is very poorly optimized and it is -1 when it comes to security.

  • Yeah windows lol !!! only a few are left, soon Windows phones are going to be shut down.

  • Like the Phone, but the BATTERY IS A TOTAL DISASTER. IT DRAINS IN A GLANCE. Anybody has a solution for that ?? Appreciate.

  • Yes your absolutely right... it's time to jump to windows phones because quadrooter android bug has been detected by Qualcomm on April 16 but blackberry is fixing it now, what blackberry was doing this many days?  When they claimed it is secured, it should be secured.

  • im waiting

  • A beautiful phone. Seeing through photos does not do this phone justice. The Blackberry suite of apps and UI make this phone a productivity powerhouse. Android navigation is fluid with the gestures. It plays pokemon GO with no problems. Battery life could be better but cmon it weighs 135g and these days you can carry a battery bank around. Loud speaker quality and loudness is better than most phones and most likely beats the HTC boom sounds speakers. This phone is worth the price u pay for it despite it not being a $1000 flagship phone. Is it better than the Alcatel Idol4? from a hardware standpoint no, but in terms of the software and level of detail Blackberry put into this phone it is the better buy.

  • It's Alcatel with a Blackberry touch (back cover and software). Hardware doesn't matter as much as what is on offer.

  • The physical design is almost the same as ALCATEL IDOL 3 / IDOL 4

  • Have a look here and see how much "secure" are devices running Android. Let's not get drunk with H2O! What BlackBerry does with Priv and DTEK50 is pure marketing. They found this niche aka android powered devices and the are exploiting it to the max. Nothing wrong with that but: From a pure premium business terminals, BlackBerry came sow low and they are rebranding mediocre mid-range phone made by Alcatel.

  • When it is released

  • overprized.... nothing worth mentioned priz

  • yes of cours it is alcatel idol 4

  • It is Alcatel Idol 4 rebranded

  • Windows phone is doa Blackberry dtek 50 Blackberry Priv is where the action is with Android. Blackberry World most secure Android + over a million Apps

  • That's sad, when my BlackBerry Classic will die, I am considering the idea of moving to Windows Phone just to not return to ice cream, lollipops, marshmallows, sandwiches, etc. Too many sweets can cause serious health problems... @Blackberry, if you read these comments, please consider the idea to produce a BlackBerry powered by Windows Phone with QWERTY keyboard. This will make the transition easier for BB10 OS fans!

  • I am happy to wear this smartphone, a new suprise for BLACKBERRY

  • I switched to ios as when as BlackBerry switched to android

  • :( GTFO --> (~69.9% screen-to-body ratio)

  • This is a business phone, here support (along with business services) is the key. BB improved the Idol 4 where it most matters, just look at the latest QuadRooter episode for an appetizer. Well worth the premium!

  • No shame .They made the phone better.

  • Its a single SIM slot phone.

  • Shame on BlackBerry they are selling an alcatel onetouch idol 4 with there branding.

  • single

  • single

  • The BlackBerry dtek50 has single or dual sim pls

  • Pls dual sim or single sim d BlackBerry dtek50

  • All these comments about people mad about the OS change.... literally only .05% of world feels that way, and BB is dying they have to try something different... Can't even get basic apps like "facebook" from the Blackberry store(SOON)...

  • Dear Mr.Chen, If you are reading these comments, then please bring back devices like Q5,Q10,classic,passport with BB OS ( but at a sane price tag and updated hardware,SoC) with an option to run Android. You can have a complete touch screen versions of same. It would be enough to compete any flagship device in the market. There shall be no need to have As,Cs,Js,ons, offs, pros, primes .....

  • True, but without the Google Play Services (which you cannot legally run outside Google certified Androids), you'll lose many of the most relevant Android apps... sure, it looks good in a spec-sheet, but in the end people will walk-away disappointed if they bought those devices thinking they could get *most* Android apps.

  • I bought BBs because of their excellent SECURE operating systems. Pse dont try cram Android down the customers throat. Rather bring out handsets with high performance chip, at least 3 gig ram, lots of phone memory, good battery life and good finish with BB10, amd offer both QWERTY and Touch versions. Q10 still my favorite, prefer even to my Passport!

  • Dear Santa/Mr Chen My dream phone is a BB Passport Silver Edition running Android, with USB C and fingerprint sensor. FYI, I was a very good boy all year around!!

  • pls provide blackberry classic or q10 or bold 9790 or bold 9900 with android....we like small comfortable devices for business...we have missed the old blackberry style devices.....were very comfortable for us.........

  • BlackBerry 10 is a multiplatform OS and all BB10 devices are capable to run Android apps!

  • Pls RIM, Try and make Q10, Z10, Z30, Passport and All 10 Devices to Run Android

  • Great Android phone with BB features. Great security.

  • Price is too high comparatively.

  • Don't need to give new name to your phone. Start with same design with android os. For example Z10,Z30,Passport,Classic etc.

  • It has all the possible features that I wanted, except for the finger print sensors. That's not a big problem ' , a pattern would actually work but at least they could had increased the battery . 2610mah is seriously very low for this generation.

  • BB is unbeatable mobile... BlackBerry DTEK50 mobile features are good but internal memory is low...

  • Priv was android and it was the best Android phone out there. Sorry it still is.

  • This just a downgrade for Blackberry, I love Z10 with bb10 os but now they're using Android as their operating system which is unstable and alot of animation stutters, from a premium looking Z10, Z30, Z3 and Priv, they downgraded their self to a shape that looks like cheap phones do, why Blackberry.

  • Waiting for BB New physical keyboard model 2016?!

  • When is Mercury launch date?

  • BB10 all the way!

  • Very nice piece of information, should have researched before commenting. It's a little bit thicker than the original Idol 4, but yeah... indeed a rebrand (it baffles me). I still see some lines that reminisce me the Nexus 4, much more than the original Alcatel (where silver frame somehow masks this).

  • Look again and you will discover that this phone is an Alcatel Idol 4 rebranded by BlackBerry. The major difference is that DTEK50 runs a (almost) stock version of Android without any bloatware inside.

  • Am I the only one that looks to this phone and sees a 2016 "refresh" of the Nexus 4 design? It's a good design to follow though...

  • Why is it BB always overprice everything just seen this in UK for £299-315 GBP price range Its ridiculous, I thought this would be a £100 phone at the very best, they won't sell this I can see a huge price reduction coming on.

  • This !!

  • Good point, pity no one bought BlackBerry 10 phones a year ago or so :)

  • Not to mention apple and Samsung(after the s5) is made up of high quality

  • The real costs of production for an iPhone or Samsung flagship is somewhere around $300. What is the retail price for an Apple or Samsung flagship without subscription aka contract free? More than 800 euros! What is the retail price for a BlackBerry Passport, considered the flagship at the moment, contract free? Around 500 euros! How many android phones are exposed to malware? Over 900 Million Devices How many BlackBerry 10 devices are exposed to malware - NONE. Of course, never say never but chances to grab a virus on a BlackBerry 10 device are close to zero So, what are you trying to say by "people who love iphone and samsung phones and paying for high end design and specs not plastic phone"?

  • Phone specifications are good but internal memory is only 16gb.

  • dosmatter how hard they try catch the others brands they way behind specs are from 3 years old and design also so bad and price is over 700 like always priv was something what shows how blackberry going down, they must start selling cheeper to get people cuz basic looks decent specs also phisical keybord and 700+ price not sounds great for people who love iphone and samsung phones and paying for high end design and specs not plastic phone with old hardware so one more time ,blackberry your time gone..... You behind way to far

  • good phone, well done balckberry, back to business again

  • Yep, agree, make classic and passport to run Android

  • Xiaomi would have been a better brand to argue about

  • This blackberry device is an overpriced piece of crap, I've got a LeEco Le 1s and it's 3 times cheaper and three times better than this blackberry D crap.

  • Have a look here Affected devices includes, among others, BlackBerry Priv and Dtek50. I think over heating issue is the last thing you need to worry right now... Now, you see why a proper BlackBerry hardcore fan it will truly appreciate and respect the full potential of BB10 OS.

  • Wen it will lunch in India....?

  • It would ne nice if they can remake the Classic or Curve with Android

  • motorola moto g4 & moto g4 plus have sd 617 they have over heating issue

  • dont forget snapdragon 617 have over heating issue! just wait for mercury with new sd 625 with 4k recording

  • This is mentioned at BlackBerry website.

  • Keyboard fans will wait for Mercury, Adroid + Keyboard. BlackBerry will not give up their iconic feature.

  • Another one with real keyboard (Mercury) will be announce soon, this will be worth waiting. Lets wait :)

  • It has radio.

  • you get the support of blackberry, security patches, and continuous updates, this is the case for blackberry

  • You mean QWERTY keyboard... It is sad to see how blackberry gives up so easily one of the most emblematic aspects and features of its phones: The Qwerty Keyboard!

  • They could have combined with QUARTY as it will be easy to operate, touch screen in most androids has proved to hang while in use.

  • I am blackberry fan.waitig for the release of new Android phone with blackberry features.

  • I think the battery is too small 2610 to fit smart touch phones with wide screens that consume too much power.

  • Simply Awsm...But Why Not Fingerprint Security ?? :-(

  • People in business I know that have to use iPhone mostly hate it.

  • Exp. release 2016, August 8 Why so Late?

  • Do we get security patches every month..??

  • It looks like a nice phone, but they failed cause it's missing the actual keyboard. Let me suggest a 4.7" phone with actual keyboard light, fast, durable and all the goodies that come w/ Blackberry.

  • Seems like a great device for the price and the 8 MP selfie camera should appeal to a large group of consumers. Time will tell whether this device sells well, but the price is good for the specs and hardware (not to mention BlackBerry's software and security as an added bonus).

  • Blackberry DTEK 50 = Alcatel idol 4 100%

  • True, if we talk about a proper BlackBerry powered by BlackBerry OS. Security and Android are two words that should not be found in the same sentence!

  • really awesome blackberry honest mob in present market i think it's one

  • To be honest, Blackberry is the best phone since its security is the highest ... I really like it.

  • Alcatel one touch idol 4 and black berry dtek 50 is same phone. tcl is making phone for both alcatel and blackberry. same specs with same hardware. why choose an expensive blackberry?

  • blackberry is old fashion no one use blackberry for business. people use iphone.

  • You are right, it is actually Idol 4 branded under Blackberry name.same company did both which is TLC

  • BB consider the fingerprint sensor as a security threat, read it somewhere.

  • two different categories, HTC has a better CPU and graphic card, but also double the price of the DTEK10

  • Till now, the Blackberry Priv is the only Android phone which has not been rooted, for almost a year now, I believe the Dtek50 will be the same

  • U can ask US government.LOL

  • is this Blackberry the most android Secure for Security? is that true?

  • According to Blackberrry's site, it supports upto 2TB SD card

  • It's not 2 TB and it's not 256 MB, it's 256 GB! Just sayin' ...

  • ok. but basically blackberry is bussinessed. phone its suet for the new generation

  • What do you use as your daily driver then?

  • Why everybody is complaining about the battery. it's a cheap phone. If you ever noticed an iphone 6 could not last a day given an average calls and browsing during the day. by 5pm you need already to charge. If you receive several calls by mid day you already need to charge by the afternoon to get you powered till the evening before you sleep.

  • crap blackberry nothing new. Battery is weak. High price. not intrested anymore.

  • SD up to 2Tb - not 256Mb as stated... Just saying :)

  • Security alone is big feature when in this world everybody is beinng watched by many unkniwns for money, nationalty and so on. We may now value the privacy above all atleast the emails.

  • Better in what sense? If you mean general performance based on specs then the HTC 10 represents the higher end of the market. If you are more security conscious then this phone will have some separate features just for that.

  • Does anyone know if BB is planning on making a smaller version of this phone?

  • Does this new BB still takes 2 full mimutes to start. Because is very irritating to wait that long, every time you have to reset it.

  • i planned to buy htc 10. but now i like this plz help any one which one is better

  • BlackBerry DTEK50 4G supported?????

  • Great for BlackBerry to launch a phone like this. But the phone lacks few features. Fingerprint scanner, a bigger battery backup and advertisements to compete with other competing devices.

  • 299 us dollars expected

  • i want to its final market value ....

  • look up alcatel idol 4 you will find its twin

  • dtek50 price deatails not clear

  • i've been waiting one device like this one

  • I am waiting already DTEK 50 by pre-order. Battery bigger always better, but will see, chargers everywhere ( office, home, friends, car) and power bunk in set is good, but for sure bigger is better. I like BB and other phones for 1 sim card, I hate duals, do not need at all for me. Do not know why users are prefers removable battery, yeh, may be it is good, but with non-removable battery warranty is 2 years, and in real service of it cost really cheap, ( I paid in service for Sony Xperia Z3 to change battery to same original about 20 or 23 eur few weeks ago).

  • It's not true about IPhone. I had 4s, 5s ( 5s still have it like reserve phone), I have in family 6s now (wife's phone) and parallel mine Sony Z3, Z1 compact, Blackberry Classic (Q20), and had before lot of BBs devises like Bold9700, Torch, others. So about IPhone temporary lags are presents under heave work and heating, under lots of open pages and some apps. Lag is like slow break, don't know CPU, memory but present sure. Also all users in the world had a previous fresh lag because of buggy new version of IOS which they fix in a couple of days or week as I remember. The big problem of IPhone it is lasts for around 3 years +- in a best case - official info from Apple which is in open source and it is true. Because they are stop to support previous IOS or pre-previous. "old" phones like 4s, and even now 5s became work slowly under the newest IOS after upgrade it, and the shit is that user must upgrade it when connecting to the PC. I made the order of DTEK 50 for my mom, and personally waiting for BB Argon and Rome (Mercury), will decide which one to buy later.

  • And that is 100% true

  • But then they will have to decrease the quality like other stupid Chinese companies if that's okay

  • Will last for about 16hrs if there is average usage

  • how long or how many days the battery last ? thank you

  • BB Please put a better processor like sd820 or sd823 or better still customize your mobile processor. Also please add dual sim along with memory card expansion not a hybrid tray and a monsterous 6000 mah removable battery with fast charging.

  • Agree. And yes The problem with cheap chinese phone like idol 4s is the quality, they uses cheap components, cheap PCB that easy to break, etc. Even xiaomi admit that. But I believe blackberry has their own standard.

  • finally.. blackberrry's bouncing back with a competitive mid-range phone!

  • I pre order 2 DTEK 50 from shopBlackberry.com, one for my wife. This is the phone I have been waiting a long time

  • I have BBZ10, 30 & priv too.. only BB

  • Dear Fahdali, Those days are gone. I have stopped using FB a long back. and so as my friends too. And of course whatsapp too, we as a group of friends and friends to friends were decided to phase out whatsapp as it is not useful to us. We are widely using BBM but since lack of support for bbm, we are clueless.... WE LOVE BB-> innovator of modern mobiles.. UI is ultimate... i didnt see this on any of the smartphone...

  • wow! smart phone for smart people. BlackBerry company - "Research In Motion" you need to improve with the latest hardware, dual Sims, good & long lasting Battery. ...Long live BlackBerry

  • Absolutely right. Non-removable battery phones must go to garbage. Non-removable batteries are for fool sheep consumers to get always their monies

  • looks like a nexus 4

  • My BB Z10 is getting older than LK Advani. Unfortunately politicians do not retire here but I want to retire my phone now (though its functioning well). Waited a long for this move from BB. Love BB, love the confi except the "bhukhmari" 2610mAh battery.

  • Its my request to bb developer design n processor plz see a decade back ur leading world for security purpose bt now ur 0% ur market compare to other plz do best in compact design top security good application for smart people ll get market back oherwise ur nill of market its my tech opinion

  • NOT true.BlackBerry phones last a long time .That is why we see so many folks srill have old BlackBerry's

  • Small battery and old processer the snapdragon 625 is the upgraded version of the sd616/615/617

  • I am buying this phone, it's what I have been waiting for from Blackberry.

  • I'm buying this phone, it's what I have been waiting for from Blackberry.

  • I just Pre order 2 from shopBlackBerry.com

  • Too bad battery is non removable, with BB service center is nowhere to found, lifetime will be limited to 2 years max.

  • Alcatel copycat smartphone....well done blackberry

  • As an ex giants, you lost your intuitions and focus. Your segment specialties, taken by others, you only watching and enjoy the show. And still tries grabbing opportunity... as a follower with high prides (price). What happen with you, BL...??? Cmon...!!!

  • This phone seems pretty good I could see the price drop a good bit this phones specs seem middle ended. The chipset is a little old but the specs could run very well with 6.0 and perhaps 7.0 if BlackBerry pushes it out. Very good phone I would reccomends this phone for someone new to mobile gaming.

  • The problems you mentioned are most of the time because of its half baked software. Blackberry is known for their software. Please stop saying bad things about blackberry if you never used one. Blackberry won't choose this phone If there is any single issue with. Just buy it when it comes if you have that much money and find out yourself how good this is......

  • Thisbus LG phone casing with Alcatel firmware HAVING Blackberry brand

  • Blackberry company Pls bring a mini version of Priv without keys. many BlackBerry users will love it.

  • It's based Alcatel Idol 4, which have a lot problems (network, screen protections, dual sim issues etc). So better skip it.

  • SoC should be SD650 at least

  • Where have you been hiding? The first Blackberry Android is the high end Priv which came out last November. It has a faster 1.8 Ghertz processor and a slightly bigger screen at 5.4 inches. It is also a bottom slider, but i only use the touchscreen. The battery is much bigger but unlike my Z30, which will last until about 8 PM before it needs recharging on a heavy day, the Priv uses a lot more power as the screen is also wider too. I write at least 5 short articles a day plus search and forward web articles to a newspaper for about 3 hours a day, so it sucks up the juice like an iPhone. Instead of buying the newest DTEK50, wait until the Priv is on sale. New they were $700 in the U.S. and $900 in Canada. Some prices have been as low as $410 in the U.S. for the Priv and you are getting a much more powerful phone for close enough to make the extra price worthwhile. The Priv camera has a German lens with 18 Megapixels and dual flash. The DPI on the screen is about 4 times as many DPI as a big screen TV. The pictures are amazing, which is why i use my phone camera instead on my 24 megapixel hand held Samsung camera for the newspaper.

  • The battery isn't around 2000, it's 2610. Big difference. and it's an Adrino so there is very little battery drain compared to the other Blackberry Android Priv which has a larger 5.4 inch screen.

  • Hi BB, I'm your die hard user ,please don't change your os, or is better that security in this product all out whit you, thanks thanks thanks

  • Dual sim please...

  • Its nt just encouraging: placing battery capacity around 2000mAH at a time when people r running away from frequent chrging. BB seems not to be competent enough, or is probably trying to shy away from the race among producers of mobile devices. Small chinese companies are producing devices with abt 6000mAH

  • now i will fully welcome BB to the world of android...wish you the best of success in the industry.

  • As long as BB maintain its Security theme, platform is no issue. But greatly doubt on that merging with Android. Market trend shift from dignity to fancy. So no wonder. Apart from OS change, this piece miss to commit body build and screen hardness. Need upcoming model with -Metal body -5.2"+ Gorilla Glass +++ -3000 + battery -Android 6+ with Full pre~post BB Security features -Radio(for no Web scenario)

  • There is no need to bringback BB OS, Other companies agents may post in its demand, but Andriod is ur best decision.

  • I guess BlackBerry shud get back the old traditional keyboard styles phones with the os 10 at an affordable price..i am sure like me there r many die hard fans of BlackBerry os and specially the buttery keyboard. I just love it!

  • Hope it is affordable and durable especially the battery

  • Even if it was more attractive

  • It needs to be priced similar to Moto G. No more than $200. Those slow A53 cores running at a max of 1.5GHz means it's lower midrange. Still it should provide ok battery life. However, the 2016 Samsung A8 will be so much faster with fast A57 cores running at 2.1GHz. Probably twice at fast!

  • helloo blackberry, i'm seriously doubting the battery life badly pls can it last up to a day?

  • Lol dude you are still on drugs. You are the type of person that don´t go out on streets because you are afraid that someone is spying on you. You need to read some information before giving your stupid and ridiculous opinion. Don´t you know that "Spying Software can be placed in any phone and it doesn't matter is the battery is removable or not... And by the way do you want to compare and android or windows phone with the apple IOS??? I´m not an apple Fanboy by i can recognize a great phone when i see one. Did you ever seen an Iphone with lag??? That doesn't exists on Apple. Don´t you know that a phone that have removable battery has 6 months warranty and a non removable battery has 2 yeas warranty???? I gess NOT. Once again quit the drugs my friend... And read some Trustworthy Information and not what you see on Facebook or stupid conspiracy theory blogs.

  • BlackBerry has no problem to bring back BlackBerry10 OS. The problem is with developers, application developers like u know whatsapp is going to end support. Facebook already have end support. The major problem is social media apps. Due to lack of these. BlackBerry have to shift on Android. I'm die hard fan of BlackBerry to. I have bbz30. But now I'm really looking to switch on Android by BlackBerry.

  • FM Radio is missing in specs:

  • Yes... Dear Blackberry please bring back your OS... we love that like anything... die hard user of BB...

  • Just waiting for fingerprint android BlackBerry phone...

  • I agree with you

  • From what I have read online, it should support OTG

  • Which phone is better Blackberry Dket or Moto x play

  • No one was buying BB10.. What else can they do?

  • You don't get BB OS no more. Blackberry has pulled BBOS back from retail market. it's now only for companies and goverments whole-sale contracts.

  • Guess thats why its bundled with a powerbank

  • Non removable battery Tsk tsk this is not good.

  • What happened to the Blackberry OS? Please bring back the old times. Android is just to common.

  • Don't you still know that all iphones are garbage? Sure, drugs ,lol, but not me ,you. even for a small battery problem, look for iphone service,if not available in your city, then go to another city, let someone to open youe phone,God knows, what may happen to your phone at that time, even you don't see what they replaced inside your iphone, maybe cheap chinese but battery but will charge stupid consumers triple.hone is yours but you can't know what someone is doing inside your'phone'. So much travveling, finding, giving your phone to the service, wait when they replace it,find a new phone during that time to answer your important calls and ect, ect, ect. Now am i or you under drugs lol ?????

  • So you are saying that an iphone is garbage??? Quit the drugs dude

  • Why are all phones with removable batteries garbage? Surely this allows for better quality batteries and also allows dustproofing / waterproofing. I would say that all phones that have built in batteries are far more robust.

  • WTF battery hahahahaha :P

  • sure,non-removable battery, that means,it is a garbage also all phones with non-removable batteries are garbages

  • Dual sim

  • Looks good. Does it support OTG ?

  • I remember BlackBerry used to be the best in shapes esp z10 but now look what we have dtek 50, a case with good blackberry software eish!!!

  • This phone looks strange anyway 2610 battery wont last a day. Specs are good but that battery. Anyway all previous blackberry phones was looking much better with their own unique design this one looks like copied from some brand.

  • Non-removable battery... :(

  • The battey is really low for an octa-core phone

  • Bro, it does not "look like idol 4" , IT IS ALCATET IDOL 4 - the same hardware, same shape, same specs, etc. They have changed the Alcatel logo with BlackBerry logo and the main difference is the fact that Neon is powered by an Android version customized by BlackBerry. We all agree that BlackBerry's Android offers a plus optimization and more secure security compared to the stock version of Android but this does not mean that we have a "new secure" phone from BlackBerry, because it is not a BlackBerry, it is just an Alcatel rebranded and customized by BlackBerry with a plus of security. If you wanna a proper security form your phone, buy a BB10 OS BlackBerry terminal and use BES!

  • Wrong, snapdragon 617 isn't old cpu from 2014, 617 was announced on September 2015. And yes, micro sd is up to 2TB

  • no OTG, battery under 3000 mah, old chipset... why?

  • alcatel idol 4?

  • Dual sim?

  • Far too big. 147mm - Wow!

  • Yes, Game on now. My fav BB is back again.

  • I've been using my z10 almost 3 years now! Still, it's in good shape! #ValueForMoney Thinking if I need to switch now to DTEK50. :)

  • There are no label blackberry on its face, why?

  • Well informed contribution. BlackBerry is a powerful Device when you talk about security,my BB has never failed me too.thank God they are back into the competition, I'm sure they'll continue to do well in the segment

  • excellent, I will buy this phone!

  • One question : Is how much snap 617 in Qualcomm storeroom !? ...

  • Exactly! People just don't get it

  • yeah come on blackbery u're now back in the game. i only wish if it has fingerprint scanner & amoled screnn but u're getting there no complain

  • perfect .. well said !!! .... people fail to understand the main purpose of the devices these days and start comparing with every other nonsense phones out there.

  • cute, BlackBerry is back

  • to all the people saying it looksl ike idol 4 .. some blah phone is better than this .. well guess what ..all those phones don't have "blackberry" security. For the $299 price with blackberry security this phone is very well priced !!! .. only disappointment for me is in today's world battery should be min of 3000 mah for any phone ... 2600 mah is little low ..but still a better phone than overprices nexus 5x (yes the last sentence is to all those ******).

  • This would be a lot better if BlackBerry made a version that came with the (QNX-based) BlackBerry 10 OS.

  • I'm getting a 5x in a couple of days for £160. Good phone. How do you feel about yours?

  • I hope you will be much better. I've used many models of this phone. Much like all upset. But who says they do not like the way you can use.

  • Yes it looks like an Alcatel phone, that's who's building phones for BlackBerry now. Yes BlackBerry is the most secure phone out there and if you think Samsung Knox is well it's pretty close because BlackBerry is the Security and Maker of Samsung Knox, for $299 it's a steal and if you think 16gbs isn't really good that's probably what BlackBerry was thinking when they added a sd card slot up to 2 tbs so if you think about it that DTEK50 and the Priv have the same amount of Storage space as an Xbox and that's a Plethora of Storage. To the people saying a Moto is the same price well go buy a Moto, I'm sure BlackBerry don't want you as a customer anyway. I'll stick to BlackBerry devices and not worry about my info getting leaked out.

  • I need security and the BlackBerry gives me that. My friends have other phones and always get hacked somehow and I've never been hacked while using a BlackBerry that's why I use the BlackBerry Priv now. The DTEK50 is well worth the asking price.

  • Same as idol 4 >:(

  • No Fingerprint Sensor .....I am Sad...

  • I just bought a nexus 5x. More or less the same as this phone with slightly better cpu.

  • this phone will cost $299, blackberry make over price again. Stop the overprice BB , no 1 will buy this. Even for $250 ists bad , so i think in the next month we will see the price tag in order of $230 or $220 if they want sell phones

  • The 12600 mAh battery is a charger that comes if you buy the bundle

  • the 12600mah is for the mobile power charger on that link

  • THAT is a BlackBerry MP-12600 Mobile Power Charger and it is an optional extra and is offered for free by BlackBerry if you place a pre-order for the Neon. Have a look here and see it for yourself Power -> Battery -> 2610 mAh 4.4V non-removable Lithium Ion battery.

  • thats the battery pack they reffering to in the offer when you pre-order the phone

  • Bro its a BB power bank not battery capacity ;)

  • its posted there, here's the link

  • It is a 2610 mAh 4.4V non-removable Lithium Ion battery.

  • bb official site said it has 12600mAh battery

  • 16gb internal? i think blackberry should stop producing phones like nokia did? lower specs with android 6 is useless these days

  • Right on, BlackBerry Neon is Alcatel Idol 4 rebranded an customized by BlackBerry. I think this is the minimum low for a company like BlackBerry... rebranding cheap budget phones! I have a BlackBerry Classic and i will never ever buy a BlackBerry terminal powered by Android

  • Unfortunately, it's single sim

  • Love to see BlackBerry new smartphone. Dying to grab one.

  • good news. but too expensive when you see there are more better specifications from other countries. with this price structure bb will struggle to survive. especially when nokia started their new android devices it will be more worse. time for bb to think over. however good luck

  • DTEK50 ?

  • where's blackberry logo in front of the ph ? , actually, Im totally like that style :(

  • I think Blackberry did the right thing using Alcatel.

  • This is Alcatel Idol 4

  • if you cant wait, buy idol 4

  • please 2610mah why not 3000 plus batt has always failed me on bb phones apart from overheating

  • using hardware 2014 technology pros +3 GB RAM cons - Snapdragon 617( need s625 14nm) - 16 GB (if spport app to sd no problem) - microUSB

  • Idol 4??? Neon??

  • they copied alcatels design are you kidding me..

  • Why memory is so low, only 16gb in this day and age is stupid. 32gb or 64gb costs next to nothing.

  • 20,000 +

  • Perfect! I'm buying it's own them all including the BlackBerry Priv but I've gotta get this phone. Awesome I can't wait

  • i need blackberry os variant to this phone. i better prefer blackberry os on blackberry devices.

  • read: alcatel IDOL 4

  • Duck BlackBerry, into a charger

  • I need Blackberry OS rather than Android

  • Small battery life, and sadly old CPU. In my opinion it should have a SD 625 CPU.

  • I certainly will go for this one once it's out, will it have a white version available?

  • it looks quite nice, I hope it sells alright

  • BB Makes Amazing this time, i will waiting for it.

  • Galaxy A5(6) BB edition

  • Blackberry if you want to back in mobile business you should price the phone at very competitive range at 15-20 otherwise there's much better than the phone in market sorry thumps down I don't feel nothing specific in phone

  • It s written in BlackBerry Bible that " They should never put a bigger battery in their phones".

  • it is just like alcatel idol 4

  • at least good move from blackberry

  • Yup, thank you BB. You're actually lagging behind for a year or so...at least. :S
