Update: Decided for 1st time to totally dissect K610i tt dropped (need 6star screw driver), started fiddling w all the electronic bits on circuit board then suddenly phone returned to life (began w battery low signal (10red flashes on top))... now phone working as normal for the last 3 days, happy +++ about that, happy cos Li-polymer battery in phone still lasts 5 days/charge after 6 yrs of use!

6yr old K610i phone, knocked multiple times previously, but survived. But the last time, worked a very short while then went on strike after camera button was applied. From then on, will only show persistent bright white screen, will not fully start up, no red/ green blinking (on light), unable to link w computer etc. Called svc ctr n they said must send down to Bishan Junction 8 for assessment, will see how/ what to do given that I stay pretty far away...

probably the most durable phone i ever had. dropped it more than a dozen times and still worked well. my sister's k610i, she dropped it inside the toilet bowl, just let it dry and still worked. camera is good for its class. although i hate sony's memory cards (too expensive). too bad i lost mine. would be using it until now if i still have it.

Lithium Polymer battery is better? Haha, discovered why my K610i (bought late2006, reg use) battery still lasts at least 4-5days/charge (min use) whilst my cheap LG LP105 (Bought early2009, hardly used)recently started to last only about 20hrs/full charge- the KP105 came with a Li-ion battery whilst the K6101 comes with a Li-polymer battery. According to 'Lithium Polymer (Lipo) Battery Guide' , Li-Po batteries are more advanced than Li-ion batteries although some differences between Li-ion and LiPo on various sites are conflicting.

ive been using this for a very loooong time. the phone is great for a java phone (its really tough, it fell several times and still OK!). multitasking is good. it lets you minimize apps (activity menu is the best. but the other button in the left keys is useless. i dont even know what is it for). but it has problem loading newer apps like ucweb 7.xx ... thats why im stuck with the old ucweb 7.0.0. other than that its good since i can still use opera mini 6.5 and the 4.2 (configuring internet conn. is easy. ip and port is editable like symbians. in contrast to nokia that needs a prov file). the sound quality is great. the camera is... well frankly, it is not that great but it is ok since i dont use this feature that much. gaming is good (though the screen size is one of the smallest now). i can play galaxy on fire 2, 3d games and some emulated pokemon roms seamlessly. battery is not that great. it drains out in 4 hrs continued internet use on GSM mode (and 3hrs 3G) , around 8 hrs for gaming alone and a day with very light use. hmm...problems... i had it reprogrammed once when i had this problem of not turning on with flashing red light... and it started turning off by itself. the solution is to put a piece of paper between the back cover and the battery and voila! its fixed.... now i got an android phone and still using this for texting... if you want to buy this phone... its great!... anyway did i tell you all that it can be crossflashed to w660i?...

Yes, You can use the secondary camera of your Sony ericsson k610i only for video-calling.You can't use it for capturing images.

I up graded my memory from 1GB to 2GB and i got the same problem in the applications and games "operation failed". Some can't even be deleted and those which were deleted some accepted to be replaced but others were not successful. Read though the previous posts but have not get a solution yet - any one out there who can help?

@aisen12 it works fine if you are close to a 3g transmitter station and not too many people around you doing the same with their mobile. That is typical for all mobile phones, probably nothing wrong with this phone.

It has 2 light levels for the screen and no levels for keypad. The light is blue. But the main issue is that it has the speaker for the ringtone on the backside and you can't hear the ring if you put the phone on a desk or even worst on a fluffy surface.

i have 87 games installed in this phone and all of them runs nicely on this phone. And the speaker is crystal clear too. But the doubled files bug is cant be repaired. But thats no problem, tough. But i have no idea why when i was watching streaming video on youtube mobile, the video looks like watching poops with sound. Maybe just my slow connection caused this one. This phone's memory card can be expanded up to 2 gigs.

Especially when playing 3D java games the FPS is relatively good, it has 3g network and the internet connection is even faster using the opera mini 5.1. And, it's drop-proof! One of the best phones ever built by SE. Unfortunately this model could not beat the market. I have this phone since 2006 and also have latest W995. But K610i let me not to replace it. Business phone at its smallest size. Rugged & robust. Battery is great even in 3G. No manufacturer can make a phone like these. Only drawback is no FM.

im sure a lot of us K610 users experience the same prob of this phone switching by itself...all u have to do is put 2 coats of sticky tape on the back portion of ur battery as well as the sim card...so far, it worked perfctly..never had switching off by itself!

Reply to akavitalis When ever you launch ur game and if the operation fail that means you have so many powerful things on your memory stick, switch off the phone and on it again then exercise a little patience or just remove the memory stick and insert it again wait for a while then launch your game it will work. But if you have game that is too powerful due to the game memory if you launch it the memory stick might fail and all other things on the memory stick will not appear, off the phone wait for 2 minuit and on it again then move the game from memory stick to phone memory then launck it and it will work perfect

This phone is very tough and it does a bit of everything- It lasted 2 years for me serving as a main mobile with also over 600 audio tracks on it. The battery life is good. Because it's an older phone ,the camera wasn't superb but if you want a phone that can reproduce music well , sounds good on a call and doesn't have any poorly manufactured buttons-it's worth using as one to rely on. Perhaps not for the fashion/trendy type

Great Phone...been using it for 3 years now. Upgraded memory to 4GB and bought a MEX-60 Flash great photos for a 2MP can expect better from a Phone. Most astonishing feature I can tape all Voice calls. Would have been great if Video calls could be recorded. Issues: 1) is that the Handfree bluetooth won't pickup automatically on incoming call as my old Nokia 7110 2) No fast forward or rewind when listening to playback. Greatest issue !!! I am having a Court case to have recorded someone making promisses and never honored them when I disclosed the recording to his management.

Had phone for 18 months and never had major issue. Ocasionally would not charge properly but put that down to poor connection of charger. Not great for gadgets but terific at what it did do, make and receive calls and messages. Phone had quite a bit of hammer and is now 3 years old as passed to my daughter when I upgraded. Stills works as good as new but looks tatty.

hi u all, like a lot of the current or ex users, ive been using this phone for 3 years and i will soon get another phone( the one im using is still good and freezes like once in a few months). to mamadun: i recomand that you stick for opera mini 4.2 for now coz the version 5 is damn bad for this phone(i even dowloaded the suppozed version suitable for the screen). version 4.2 is really good. to williams: who really uses radio on the mobile phone. the only time my friends use radio on a mobile phone is to hear the name of the laureates each year lol to rehan: i dunno if by wireless you mean wifi. please elaborate on that. to lee: i once had this problem and it was because the fastport had "moisissure" which i suppose appeared since im in a tropical island(sorry cant remember the english name for that). anyway, try to remove the battery. normally, the red light should be switched off. insert the barttery and try to charge. if its to no avail go to see a technician(who will probably flash your mobile phone) to kui: this is a really good phone. i dunno if youve read the opinions but most of them are favorable and i appreciate that. people are giving true facts about the phone and not like for the high end phones where other brands fans just say senseless things or make comments abouts unimportant things with their common " EPIC FAIL" comments lol

Well, this has been my best phone ever! I had it for 2 years now and all I can say is that it is still full-functional and extremely business inclined. I remember accidentally throwing this phone to the toilet bowl... I was so devastated but when I dried it with towel and connected it to the battery charger for a whole night, it went back to its full capacity and has even served another year. man i guess u need to try a SE and see urself that most SE k610 is better to Nokia 6680. I had nokia 6680 2years ago it was good and i love it i took alot of nice pics and i used the 3g video call but i got tired of it. i guess i needed a 2pixel camera phone and smaller size and better features that u alwys can fine in the SE. so i got this SE k610 last week. its cool. however, im still a big fan of Nokia Symbiam phones becus of applications. Maximize the equalizer presets. Trust me it will be louder although sometimes the higher the volume and equalizer, the more noise it produces. When it is in maximum, it is louder than N91, Omnia, N70, Motorola Razor V8 and nokia 5000 I really like this phone. In fact, I'm using my phone's browser in replying to your post.

It seems odd that only Mp3 files are playing on your phone. In my phone, I have MIDI,M4a,wma and Mp3 files and they are working great. I haven't tried AAC format but just convert the files or you could download a software but I think, it would be hard.

I got this phone as a cheap pay as you go - I was fed up with the MDA I had on contract. The phone is easy to use, reliable and has a fantastic battery life (better than my new K850i). It isn't the most feature filled phone, but it does the basics and it's got 3G for the internet. If you're looking for a reliable, easy to use phone with a long lasting battery I would strongly recommend this phone.

i have this phone for over a year and a half now. it has pretty much everything you need in a mobile phone: 2mp camera [the photos look just ok both in the phone and in the computer], it comes with enough memory for 25 compressed mp3s, games, internet [no wifi though..] and 3g. it also comes with a 64mb card, but you cand replace it with a 1-2gb, if you feel you need more. the battery was never a problem, listening to music, talking, playing or making photos it lasted around 2-3 days, but with average use it lasts over a week. i honestly recommend it, it's awesome.

Officially the K610i supports memmory cards of 1 GB. But I've heard that it also supports 2GB, although then it works slower. Can someone tell me if he has tested a 2GB memmory on this phone, and if so, how it works?

By the way, I had read a question regarding about its messages. The messages of the K610i is automatically stored in the inbox of course. And probably it can hold a hundred or more messages but you can also save the messages on the templates or in the sim cards memory, in case you just had. But remember that it can only store a few messages in this way but in this case I learned a way of how to store a lot more messages. Step 1 Copy the text you want. Step 2 Write a new message and paste the texts. Step 3 Exit and save the message. That's it. The message you had made will be save in the Drafts. Trust me, the capacity of the messages here are a lot higher than in the inbox, templates or saved messages category. In my phone I, had 369 messages in the Drafts.

For the people that are having doubts about whether they will purchase this phone, I just like to say that this phone may not be that so amazing for instance, it doesn't have an exotic fm transmitter or what so ever but it does its job very well. One downside of it, is that it has a low video resolution but that's alright for me because I am not a video enthusiast so If you don't prefer capturing videos on your phone, why not try this one?

ive been using se k610i for more than a year..it has great features considering its affordable price..nice picture with its 2megapixel except it doesnt have auto focus..,no radio but u can install lots of music if u got high m2 card..i like its 3g capability since i can browse internet fast..and u can install third party application like operamini and chat messengers.,games..downloads fast..and u can watch tv..u can also publish pictures in seconds using the send to blog feature..but i did a terrible mistake few days ago..when i did the search update software..well it was on the menu i just click on it to find out if i can make it perform better but after installing their software well it worked a bit then i decided to take out battery after that it wont work anymore..i just got a red light blinking on top portion..but it wont turn on..i tried charging but it wont charge also...ive tried to let an authorize service center to see it but they charge too high for the repair since they said software upgrade failed so they must do replacement on some part i think....but i think it just wasnt compatible with the software upgrade that installed.....i hope sonyericson wont post updates thats not compatible with some of their phones...any one who can help ne resolve this pls try to post and ill read on it later..tnx

to franchesca: plug-in ur usb click file transfer example: songs u want to transfer to ur fone using usb cable.. click once the song right click then sent to: phone card presto! after transferring and the usb cable has been removed,, you will see the tranfered file to the file manager.. just scroll and u will see it under the name others..

the front cam s for video call only, but u can take picture on screen during vidoe calling. yes the nav buton erode quickly and the casing too. i change mine to k610im but in some country the telcos do not support I-MODE so iMMS unavailable and browsing is regularly interrupted by link failure. better stick with k610i

The navi. pad is actually plastic.. the silver paint on mine scratched of really quick in just a few days and the blue light is clearly seen glowing through gaps in the paint in low light.. the pictures that the camera takes is only good to look at on the phone.. put it onto pc and its very very ugly...

This is a terrific, down-to-Earth phone that doesn't try to be more than it is. I went from a Nokia E65 to this, and I have to say that the K610i is a much better phone to use - very responsive, keys are easy to press, and, unlike the E65, it has a camera on the front. dear Wael, dont just go speaking about the quality of the camera judging by the screen quality. the camera is 2MP (2 millions of dots per inch)and the screen is 256K colors (the screen can view exactly 262144 colors for every dot in the 176x240 TFT screen - which is by the way a high end screen). this phone is probably much reliable and has much quality than any phone nokia ever made. by the way there is no such thing as 16MP camera mobile phone.

This phone is the best phone I ever had. I even got it at a very low price (for a b/n phone) at tipidcp.com (Mabuhay tipidcp!!!). My old sony ericsson K500 (which I bought at a higher price than this one during its prime) "joystick" sucks. I'll never buy another phone with a "joystick" ever!!! i've been using this for one year and it is great..!! i expanded the memory stick (m2) upto 1gb and its okay!! i have no negative comments to this phone. the camera is fantastic especially in daytime.. and you can balance the light controls by using the white balance.. the sound is so loud even if a huge noise is surrounding it, you can still hear it.. the 3g call is fine.. i can take pictures from it.. the internet is fast and reliable... i would recommend this !!! love it!! ^^,

the light above there is a light for gsm network.. observe when someone texted you.. the light there is blinking and blinking upto 10 seconds.. and its turns red when your battery is only 4%..

Since i bought this phone i can honestly say for the price UK 89.99,it is a bargain MP3 player sounds fantastic headphones supplied are not "bog standard" have good Bass for in ear headphones. 3g is very good on this phone.RSS feeds work fine.Java games are a bit boring and the camera is average.For 3g use,the battery could do with more than 900Mah capacity. If you wan2 buy k608, than I'll suggest u 2 buy k600.(coz,both of them contains same specification;just the different model means's outlook)k600 is more stylish... but in other hand, u can face problems with memory if u wanna choice k600/608; bcoz,they have only 33.6mb phone memory,no card slot.. then u can go 2 k610 which support M2 memory card;perhaps, up 2 2gb. another more important suggestion is... k610 supports walkman ear fons where,k600/608 doesnt! coz their ports r made in old version model. although,k600/608 contains MegaBass... but while using Walkman ear phones in k610 u'll certainly get much more better xperience...the sound quality & the bass both will overcome then. In my own xperience,ive used k600i for 18 months.... but having only the lack of Walkman earfon port i sold it out to my friend.... best of luck

I have had this phone for a full year now and must say I love it. The only thing that I am unhappy about with this phone is that there is no radio :( Frankly, I was going to replace it by a K530i because of this, but then compared the displays and decided it was not worth it. This one is much much better. So I guess I'll just stick with it for now.

Sorry.. I missed type andy with papaPAUL ^_^ One thing I like so much of this phone : It can downloads big files. I often download movie up to 30MB. Thanks to it's multitasking capability, i can still use my phone function while downloading. I can even check my Email and browsing using OperaMini while downloading. Other feature I often use is Bluetooh Remote. It is a cool feature to use K610 as Mouse replacement. It helps me when presenting my PowerPoint slides. Well... it is a common feature to other SE Bluetooth cellphone though.... SE makes good CellPhone.. if you can match it's technology ^_^

I'll try to answer everyone question (for the past 1 month). Yes, K610 able to zoom when taking picture (but only in VGA resolution, not 1MP or 2MP) and in video mode. Yes, it support multitask. I can run Opera Mini, Email, IM+, and writing SMS without hang or slowdown. Multitasking feature is common to nowadays SE series. Playing MP3 is very good, both in loudness and clarity. K510 is no match. K610 almost match W-series, except for MegaBass. @Skie, SE cellphone always easy to use for internet connection. You can use bluetooth and data cable. I prefer bluetooth since no driver required. @papaPAUL, K610 can almost match W-series. Use W-series earset for best experience. @Karen, K610 much better than K608. Ensure K610 latest firmware for best experience. It has affordable price and good feature, but don't ask too much for FM Radio, Flash, Autofocus, VGA/CIF video recording @30fps, etc..etc... K610 has it's own style. Use K610 with care and you'll see that K610 is powerfull enough for it's price. And ALWAYS KEEP PHONE MEMORY ABOVE 10MB. Store or install aplication in MemoryCard. Otherwise, user will experience in freezing, slowdown, ang hangs alot. Feel free to ask me. Thank you world.

@joe VGA is DVD-like quality video recording. Only a few Nokia phones have this recording quality. This includes Nokia 6233, 6288, N93, and N95. Others record in low quality like QVGA, CIF or QCIF. It's hard to find phones these days with good quality video recording and camera.

@K610 lover You're terribly wrong. Lightest 3G phone in SE is the W880i! @Nix I'm not asking about the fps (frames per second) of the video recording. I'm asking if the K610 video records in VGA or CIF??

To Jon2 No, in N95, the video recording is 30 frame per second (fps) while in k610 itis only 15 fps! anyway it is a mid range fone, having such characteristics is not important for guy like me!! yeah!

Hey PETER!! how did you know that N70 is far more better than K610i?? look pal, do you have a k610?? i have both k610 and N70, AND I CAN TELL YOU THAT K610 IS MUCH BETTER THAN N70, but some features are different and k610 lacks some flash and radio, but it prove to be competitive against N70 and it is worth it's title lightest 3g fone on SE, hahahaha!!! check it in the review for info!! before using this K610 i'm using W810... The differences between them is K610 is more faster (application, pics browsing etc.) than my W810. I think K610 loudspeaker it a little bit louder than W810. I'm using this phone for 6 month now..and the Pro and Cons I can give to this phone is; Pro; -fast phone (menu,applications etc.) -very good keypad -loud and clear sound -the 1st slimmest/smallest 3G phone before W880 i think -simple but stylish design -long battery life -can store text/pic message up to 1000 cons; -average camera with no autofocus & flash -camera can't zoom at full resolution -no fm radio -you don't get headset with the phone package. You have to buy it seperately if u want to listen to Music Player (thx god I've my old W810 headset :) )

uhmm, my comment to this phone is, the phone is really good !.. the music player is so loud and it can hear it within a large noise... its like a true speaker... the sms,mms, and email is great , i can send it rapidly... about the camera, its really good... it captures like "true pictures" especially on good light conditions... the camera infront is really perfect, when using a 3g phone call... its performance is really great, i would recommend it on the market... have this ph0ne with 1gb and 16mb internal memory....... here, in the philippines... using it for almost 10 months, and its really ok.... =bye= c:

I've got this phone (the white one) a week ago and I think it's a good cell: good size, slim, good looking (looks a bit too plastic, but it's solid), much lighter than my N70, hehe. In general, it's a good cellphone for those who doesn't need too many things (talking, sms's, music). The camera is ok, but not amazing: dark colors have too much noise and sometimes, pictures are not well focused when the light is under low conditions. Music very good and user interface s good too. I really recommend it.

i have this phone and it's good from functionality and price. but after 2 months of use the phone's 4, 7, * and # keypad starts to malfunction, when you press those numbers it does not respond and when you press the number 9 it goes to the profiles wherein you select normal, silent modes. its really disappointing thinking i have finally found a phone that satisfies me. now i cannot write a text message, i'll send this back to have it repaired. does anyone experience the same thing? or does anyone knows how to fix this problem? P.S. i didn't use this phone extremely to cause those keypad to malfunction. as a matter of fact i left this phone safely in my house and then when i got home i discovered the malfunctions. now i'm starting to believe people whose been saying that the durability and software of this phone is weak. hope that it could be repaired

Nice, compact, intelligent, impressive. I use SonyEricsson mobiles since 2001 and will not even try to look for others. I traded this K610i with W610i because W610i was a little noisy with the buttons press. Anyhow, K610 missed some function that were available in W610 but still delicate and awesome.

nice 3G fone, economical and easy to use.i dont have problems with its battery, cuz i think the battery that came with my package is an original one.because a lot of imitation batteries are out in the market now, and this batteries dont last that long and are prone to overheating and sometimes may explode causing damage to ur fone...so i advice those who are planning to buy ANY fone, be sure you get the original battery.and if you can buy brand new fones,please do so...refurbished fones do not perform well as compared to brand new fones,refurbished fones do not have parts that came from the manufacturer...and they break down easily.

My k610i has a problem when i record voice from video or sound recorder. when i play the recorded voice or video the sound level is very poor so i cant hear that i recorded very well. But mic and speaker are very good in all other functions.So i understand that the problem is "software" because the mic and speaker is ok except if i record any sound. i found also that the audio codec in my k610i is AMR but if i use other file with audio codec AAC i found better audio sound. Is it a comon problem for all k610i users? Any one can help me ?

Have had this phone for over 9 months now. It worked fine, until I installed a 512kB memory card. Then it started to shut down all by itself occasionally, which is such a turn off (if you excuse the pun). I should, nevertheless, say, that I just LOVE the design and how it feels in your palm. Besides, the battery is excellent. Lasts very long - compare it to e.g. Nokia 6300, the all around favorite, and you will notice the HUGE difference. Great phone overall.

i have a K610i for 5 months and i shut it down and changed the simcard, when i was trying to start it up again , it didnt start , it was jst flashing red light from above. tht is it. i tried a new battery, didnt work (the battery tried on another phone, it was ok) so the problem not from the battery . i tried to start it while its connected to the charger , didnt work out. i took it to some professionals they re-installed the software on it, didnt work out. if any of you have an idea on what the problem would be .. please email me. i really like this phone :(

I have had one for a year now, my first SE. It worked fine for a long time then one of the soft keys failed. It would either not work at all or activate unexpectedly and repeatedly. This has caused a huge problem as i now can't use the phone or transfer my phone book as i need to use this key! Otherwise it's a good phone.

been having this phone for 9 mths already. i wld say i'm quite satisfied with this phone. i did experienced the phone shutting itself down occasionally, in fact the number of times shutting off by itself has reduced. it has never ever shuts itself whenever i'm on the phone but usually when i accidentally put the phone on the table hard. the phone is still functioning well even if i throw it into my bag or dropped it. this phone can support 1 gb m2 well, in fact, 1 gb is insufficient for me as i double the phone as a mp3 player too and i had to get a 2gb m2. this phone has no prob supporting it as well!! i admit that the phone does lags at times, but this indicates that i've over stress my phone. all i need to do is do some clean up of the few hundreds sms and that's it. overall, a worth buying phone and it's a good buy.

I've had this model for half a year now and i liked it, but it keeps shutting off by itself once in a while and just this afternoon my k610i started malfunctioning! it keeps doing stuff like going in and out of the settings, messaging, file manager, etc. like it has a virus of some sort...info messages keeps popping out even if i press ok or cancel. and now my right select button (the one w/ cancel button) wont work. i tried the master reset, removing the battery, sim and memory card but still, my phone acts the same way...any advice? i plan to bring my k610i to a sony ericsson repair center tom....hopefully it's nothing serious.

I've had this phone, K610i, for about 8 months, and I can't use it anymore. I love it, I love the way it works and operates, but it continually shuts itself off,usually in the middle of a phone call. Highly aggravating. I've had it in the shop twice where they keep telling me nothing is wrong with the phone. Piece of junk is my overall impression because of this and SonyEricsson doesn't seem too interested in fixing it.

I send SMS to multiple recipients every now and then and I never experience any problem at all. If ever there's problem later, as long as you see your message in Sent Messages folder 'guess it's the network to blame not the phone. It can store SMS as far as its memory can hold. For $180 (price I bought), you can't find a better 3G phone than this. I'm only disappointed with reminder function which is very useful to me 'cause I cannot choose other tone except for the hardly heard defaulted "plok" sound. Overall, it's more than money's worth. Highly recommended.

The only colours that appear to be available are red & silver. The package sold in some countries (i.e. New Zealand) contains only the phone, the charger, the instructions, and a mono headset. No extra memory or PC cable included. I also own a W850i though, so I just use the same PC cable & Drivers disc.

Basically this phone is quite ok, but perhaps the camera is comparable to older 1.3mp phones. any software problems (hang, restart, etc) should be solve-able by software upgrades in the SE website or sending your phone to the SE service centre. my girl has this phone, and i guess the only complaint is that the "BACK" button is too close to the WAP or GPRS thingy, so tendency of clicking that is high. other than that this should be a cool phone.

One camera at the back is for taking pics/vids, the camera in the front is solely for video calls(not for taking pics). So, yep there are 2 cameras. Hmm recently got this phone from singtel, I luv it, everything's worth it for the price. Currently no prob for me as it came with the latest firmware(checked). I'll update here if any prob came up ^ ^! Gosh...y do most phone holders look so boring =( I've manage to find one with car seat design but it's not sold in Singapore =(

This is a good and simple phone...Here are the pros and cons. PROS- 4 me it was cheap i got it 4 $200AU in prepaid. It has a good 2mp Camera. One of the smallest 3G phones. Its speakers are quiet loud. It is compatible with lot of games and software. CONS- It has poor quality software, You will notice some problems,(after 2 months of purchase mine started restarting randomly).It dosn't have a extraordinary fancy look. It has upto 1gb expandable memory(it has m2 which is far more expensive then the others). Altough it ha 2 cameras, you can take pictures with the secondary VGA camera. It has no inferred....Compared to the other phones its screen resolution isn't that good.The speakers may be loud but they are not clear. Those are the pros and cons..I would like to say it is a good phone and if the price is right purchase it...i do not regret having it....The reason why i purchased this phone is because it was the best "THREE" prepiad phone out there...i would not advice taking this on a plan..

To Matthew: To add to my previous opinions: You even agreed that SE phones are very loud which I already said last time. It is too loud that the other party at the end, couldn't hear what I was talking and thought that I was screaming at them even though I was not screaming. It picked up ambience noise too easily unlike my previous nokia and my present motorola!

To Matthew, Yes, I got all my facts right because I once owned the SE K610i until it was stolen but I did not feel at least bad because it was a lousy phone to me! The only thing I felt bad was all my data etc were lost. That's all!

Oh please "An" you don't know what your talking about...SE Phones are quality handsets packed with several features, the fact that they are very loud is not a downfall, so get your facts right...as for the person wondering the memory card size limit...I think the K610i can only hack 2GB (not too sure) but there is 4GB M2 memory card for sale so it (might) be compatible, "Saggitarius " what do you mean by "low memory"?...to "tot" make sure you have credit before you send a message, and if that fails call up your network, no one here can do anything about that...

How long have you had it for? Less than a year? Then In Some Areas you can get it repaired for free at nearly any carphone warehouse branch....have you tried charging it? The flashing red light ussualy indicates it needs charging...

You people are going on like every single K610i model is fauty, well your wrong, mine and many more of my friends models work fine, it is either the way you use it (you may have broke it yourself) something you put on it (even though most SE are immune to viruses newer viruses come in the form of themes, videos, games etc) or simply you just bought a faulty one, s*** happens, get a re-fund and stop trying to put the phone down...and as for the people who are finiding it difficult to choose from this model and those other walkman phones think for a minute....do you want 3G or Walkman capabilities? Either way the K610i music menu is similar to one of a Walman phone and 3G is not a very popular feature on hpones these days, so just choose wisely...

Some of you guys are hilarious about it doesn't have a good camera...the camera is great, better than many phones out there...and as for mp3 sound/quality this phone is also top notch, extrememly loud, does not have fm radio nor infra-red though, nevertheless everything else is great, I advice people with big hands not to get the phone though, the buttons are quite small..

PI3c3: i agree, but not much. try looking at other manufacturer's developer site then compare it with the JSRs available on the Java Platform phones from SE, and you'll see they have also the JSRs present in K610, but the only thing they have not got over the SE is the Multitasking capability in which no other non-OS brands have done. this is due to the excellent work of SE developers in Java Platform.

Hi!! First of all I'll agree that this is a wonderful phone. I am facing two issues though: 1) whenever I am trying for conference call, if I have one person and I am trying to call the other person and if other person is on other call, my phone hangs. I have to disconnect all calls. Then if I call any person, I won't hear any sound, so I have to restart my phone and it works fine. Does anyone else has also faced the similar issue??? 2)I have 600 names in my directory. But when I type letters to go to particular name, it does not go. Like if I am searching for person Amit. I type A and then m, it doesn't go to am... it stays at a...so search not possible. Does any one else has also faced the same issue. Service centre upgraded the software also, still problem exist.

Got a red colour K610 but got stolen. Wouldn't buy the same one as replacement even though I like the slim and red model. Shut off on its own suddenly a few times. Also, when I talk to other people, they always complain that my hp is too loud and I am always shouting at them. Fact is that I couldn't hear them talking to me and on my receiving end, it is noisy. Also, when I used this phone on my left ear to listen , I couldn't hear at all and I have to use my right ear to listen even though when I still have to cover my left ear to listen intensely. I thought my left ear has problem hearing but when I had my last nokia, I can hear both ears very clearly, and now I have a second motorola, it is very clear for me for both ears. So... I am not sure if I am being unlucky to have that red k610 as one of the kind but I would not buy sony ever again....

Hmm. Have the white version of this phone for five months now. Great phone. Feels great look great & it works wonder. It never did die down on me. Not even once. to angry: have an update to your phone software at sonyericsson website. the site provides you step by step intuitive and easy following instructions to update the phone software. by the help of updating the phone software you can fixed any annoying bugs especially the restarts and white/black blank screen of deaths which appears to be an often problem to most SEs devices. but at least this is the only problem you would encounter to SEs products other than having restartings/lags/freezes and bugs in smartphones in which are not 100% fixed in phone SW updates.

to SuA%, i wouldnt recommend 6288 cos the slider is not as smooth as the old version of it-6280 even after some time. it just gets rougher and it doesnt spring up like other sliders do. u'l get frustrated. but who knows u may be the lucky one??!! :) just my 2 cents worth.

wat colors are your k610s? so far i'v only seen the black and the red in singapore. the red is really cool! am thinking of getting it now. got one for my uncle and he's complaining that this phone shuts off by itself when he left it untouch in his bag. was wondering if its just on standby but he said he pressed the buttons a few times and it just doesnt turn on till he switch it off and on again. but i encounter similar situation with other sony ericsson phones esp the w810i. it just stay as black screen for quite some time while i kept punching the keypad til it turned on again. does this happen to your k610?

Lately ive updated the softwere from the sonyericsson site and its even faster than before and the battery life has improved from 3 days of full txts and calls it now goes for 4 day after updating the softwere. Good things: speaker is great, sound recorder is fun too, superb screen, good camera (video or photo) in outdoors, easy to use, many games, strong software and the battery reach 4-5 days with a moderate use, very good bluetooth with many fun apps. I've been using k610 for more that two weeks now and I'm a little disappointed. First, it has difficulty getting the my network's signal. I have to get a better spot before I can make a call or send a text message. I wouldn't say it's my network's problem since my colleague at work is using the same cell provider but using nokia, but she has signal all the time. Second, calls are chappy. Third, keys are a too sensitive. So you need to check what you keyed in to make sure you have the right letter unlike in Nokia the letter that comes out responds properly to what you're trying to key in the message. I hope not all SE phones are like this bec. I'm planning to replace it to another SE phone particularly K800i. But if all SE phones experiences these problems, I might go back to Nokia.

Help! My phone keep on shutting down on its own after locking the keypad. So far it has happened 6 to 7 times already. I have tried doing resetting and update service of the phone but it is still happening. okay, here are the comments. Camera is quite good. mp3 is okay but no megabass. Sound is very loud and clear. Reception is sometimes good and at times not so good. Microphone can pick up background sound in noisy places like restaurants, shopping complex. The other person on the line will hear a lot of noise. This is one of the disadvantages. Is there anyone who knows how to deal with this problem? The phone sometimes power off by itself. Happened to me a few times. I wonder why? My previous phone K700i never encounter this problem. Other than that it is a very good phone. Very slim and sexy phone.

I have this phone k610i and my brother has just got w810 and when i bluetoothed a song of mine to his, i thought that playback on his wasn't as good as mine and he agreed, considering that the w810 is aimed more as a music phone i beg to differ. But in all phone spec is great its not heavy and bulky, keypad is good, it looks like its a toggle button but its not. I have this on three network and internet is fast, also you can do msn messenger, free of charge so thats even better. LOVE THE PHONE

this phone has a bad soft. mine crashed after two month. now it has returned from service and seems to be Ok. moreover, the sync soft is crap (PC Suite). M2 card has only 64Mb and came with no M2-MS duo adaptor. Poor job SE!

I have this phone and i not even had it for 4 months and i have already had to send it away 3 times to get fixed and ever since i have this phone i have had alot of trouble with it with the memory chip frying itself then the phone re formating its self without my knowledge so i lost eveything and then my video calling camera stoped working and then it shut its self of from the UMTS (3G) network and that was not my service providers fault it was the phone so if your lookin to buy it be warned now that you might have some trouble with it!

This phone made not for men, buttons are too small. Pictures from camera too smoothing, I tried in different modes. Good video, not bad display. Bluetooth work not stable, sometimes not respond. If you want connecting to other phone - no problem, but K610 don't have browser for listing of catolog of other phone. And the BEST - sometimes was lost connection with Operator - wrote InactiveSIM. All updates not help. It's not a problem of this K610, the same situation is on P990i. I solved this problem when K610 was replaced to other phone (Nokia).

@ringing volume to every1 complaining about ringing vol. saying is not loud enough... please try to give an effort to discover how, b4 you complains, talking and complaining, does not solve the damn problem! you dont need talent to discover how to increse the ringing volume...MAN!! thats a very light problem! i have this phone and its sounds real loud.... -if your ring volume level is in maximum and still its not loud for you, go to SETTINGS, RINGING VOL, then try to play the sound/tone of your ringing vol, while the sound is playing, increase the level(upper right buttons @ the side of your celfone).

Had this phone about a week now and found it to be quite good. Very like the k800i but minus radio, light, screen size and 3mp camera with auto focus. all other features seem the same. Keypad is useable if a little cramped and on occasion I seem to hit the wrong keys when picking up or hanging up a call. no joystick - which coming from the w800i I found a pain. I have also found a few glitches in the OS which can be annoying. When the phone is switched off it seems to forget settings that you implemented. Things like shortcuts and volume. Bread and butter stuff SE get it fixed! Also I�m on 3 and their personalising of the OS is a real pain anyone know how to flash this and start with SE OS? Truth be told I prefer my w800i

the display on this phone is crap, worse than Samsung d600 and a thousand times worse than k800i. The phone itself is not bad, I mean except for the better camera and radio on the k800i you don't lose much in comparison, most of the features are even the same. The ideal though would be the shape of the k610i packed with all features of the k800i, the former has much better looks.

I love this phone. Bought it last November. I just never had the time to explore its feature, read the manual thoroughly. However, when I tried activating the 3g and MMS features, my phone hanged!! and worst it turned off by itself and now I can't turn it on. I just have to wait til the end of the month before I can have it fixed. I am worried that it could be as bad as the software but I don't remember doing anything besides the usual stuff and the activation thingamajig. May be you could give me some advice. Thank you.

I bought this phone on Friday and love it. The only thing is the a bluetooth headset that is included. I can connect it to the phone and it asks for a passcode but I can't find a passcode anywhere??? I've looked through the booklets, can someone please please help? Thanks

i bought the fone last september and it was superb! everything was great!.. until after a month. it just went blackout and worse, it never turned on again even if i tried to charge and replace the batteries with a new one. the following day i received the same comment with my colleagues. they are also using the same model but was bought earlier. we are just wondering what was the problem with the fone? is it fully tested before they released it? we tried to send it back to the vendor but they said that they do not have the software yet to repair or reformat the fone but we took the risk and have them try to solve the case and it took them more than 2 weeks to revive the fone. can anyone tell me what was the reason behind?

James- Chose a longer message tone- e.g. upload a favourite MP3 track to the phone, and set that as the message tone. Thats what Ive done and it works a treat

Dear phone lovers the K 610i it is a great phone, the battery life for me tree days, I used the phone for many calls and in the car I used a Jabra BT 205 bluetooth hands free device, I connect the phone with my PC with a bluetooth adapter and works fast enoght, also after a mounth use the software on the phone colapsed (personaly I believe its romanian software foult) after reinstaled the software the battery life is improuved thats why I believe its the old software foult. I am a convinced Sony Ericsson fan I have also a W 810i. For me the K 610i it is a very good phone manny contacts field , you can changed the memory card (now I am using a Sandisk M2 512 Mb), for any cases you can make on the memory stick a backup of your phonebook, you can organize your folders, many tipes of alarms, the MP3 files sound very good the player has an digital equalizer and you can also atached the headphones from W 810i. The ADP2 stereo profile works excelent with a stereo bluetooth device like Jabra BT 620s, on this model Sony Ericsson has remove the five ways joystick that was instaled on previos models like K 700i or K 750i, and now no problems with broken joystick, however I dont know wy there are using it on the K 800 Cybershot model but whatever. Beleve me puting aside the software problem that many expensive phones have like Nokia E 50 or N 73, Sony Ericcson its a great phone nad you will spend less money that buying a Nokia phone

Great phone with a lot of functions. Picture is very sharp with only 2 megapixel and smooth MP4 movie video. I also always made a video call to Terengganu and chat with my son and grandson. Also value for the money because cost only less then RM 800. People other country outside Malaysia, better buy this phone, easy to chat with your family.

I'm actually from NZ but just moved here so Aussie I guess. Thanks for all the posts - helped heaps when deciding which to buy. Was tossing up btw Nokia 6288 and SE K610i. Was worried about the slide becoming loose on the Nokia, and liked the review posted of the SE so I got it. I'm so happy! What a great phone - packed with features, looks good, so easy to use. Menus very good and love the shortcut button from which you can make almost any item on any menu just 2 clicks away from standby. A few specifics for people with qus: * Contacts Took a while, especially if you want to do it over bluetooth, but persist because it works like a dream. Insert the CD and install the Sony software (just the one about sync / file manager). Make sure you follow the instructions about the USB cable. If stuck, go to sonyericsson.com/support and download the pdf 'user guide' on this topic. Once the USB drivers are installed from the CD then you just follow the instructions in the wizard. For me using bluetooth, the key was the 'phone monitor' - make sure you go to COM ports and enable the port that your phone connects to. When you turn bluetooth on in the phone, your bluetooth-enabled computer will recognise the connection and you'll be able to synchronise contacts / calendar / notes / tasks easily. Fantastic * Mirror: Main menu - video call - More - Layout - Switch pictures. There you go. You can even zoom in! * Keys and shortcuts. Yes it is a little small, and I have big hands (6'2" tall), but I can use it fine. I can't text easily using one hand like I used to with my old (very old) Nokia, but it's ok. If you want to text endlessly, you'd better have smaller hands. * Battery. If you read all the posts, everyone sooner or later says their battery life is too short. When I got my new laptop the instructions were specific: charge the battery fully (ie. at least 12 hours), then discharge it fully (ie. until it is COMPLETELY flat). This lets the device know how much battery life it has. I did this with my mobile, it's been going 5 days now and is at 20% on its first charge. Make sure also that you turn the screen brightness down. Otherwise, it just depends what applications you use. For me it's great. So over all a fantastic phone for me, and I hope for you too.

Loving the phone and I just got it, it has every feature nessecary etc....some of you lot are complaining about the battery life, well taht is because sony ericssons have very powerful screens therefore if you use the phone excssevily then the batteyr life will drain fats e.g.making callss at then playing games, then listening to music then taking pictures...this phone gets 10/10 form me, sony ericsson is number one...

Hey. I just bought this phone and it have evetyrhing I need, but the battery life is low. The soundvolume is awesome. I don't really use the camera but its really good. Only reason for this phone is because I can't stand those joysticks. I had a K700i before and it was a really good phone besides that one tiny joystickproblem. If you want a basic Sony Ericsson, you better go for this one.

This is one great phone for a bargain price. it only costs P12000.00 to P14000.00 (US$240.00 to US$280.00) The menu is very to navigate through, considering it is a non-OS phone (Meaning it dosn't use any special Operating System [OS] to function, unlike most Nokia, O2, Qtek and some Motorola handsets). Internet access is a touch of a button away, which is a breeze. Functions are easy to understand and access. It's actually easier to use than most Symbian OS or Windows OS-based phones. The Camera, also accessible in a touch of a button, is great even in LOW LIGHT conditions (of course the camera is useless if there is really NO LIGHT, it doesn't have a flash, whick kinds sucks a bit). It comes with several options (eg: pix size, shoot mode, quality, night mode, self timer, white balance, effects) to take a perfect shot. Only thing is, it doesn't have flash. You can buys a separate snap on flash if you want to, but you wouldn't normally need it unless you take most of your pictures in the dark. It's also a very fashionable phone for any event. It looks elegant enough for formal parties while it doesn't look out of place in bars and clubs. It actually comes in 4 colors (although some argue it only comes in 3 in the Philippines): Urban Silver, Misty White, and Carbon Black. I got the more common Urban Silver. It can play ALMOST all audio formats and it always sounds great through the speaker or headsets (the Music Player even has an equalizer function w/ preset settings). Sadly it doesn't come with FM Radio. You'd need a special accessory (FM Music Transmitter) if you want FM Radio. Video Calling is good enough for a mid-range 3G phone. The VGA camera has zoom and night mode functions, video quality options, and mirror image feature. You can further enhance the experience by switching image layout or camera used. Only thing that really bothers me though, is the shortcut access and internet access keys which are located in such a way that you'd press them accidentally when you intend to use either softkeys or the back or clear key. Another thing which is a bit irksome is the vertical spacing of the keys. It's easy to press the wrong button when creating text messages. About the front VGA Camera, you can't take a picture w/ it unless you're on video call. It can work as a high-tech mirror though. It's handy when you inspecting a zit. In the Philippines, you'd get a USB cable, PC-Suite CD, Manual, Charger, and a 64MB Memory Stick Micro (M2). The last item, though it gives you more memory, is not a really good thing because M2 cards are quite expensive comared to other mass storage cards in the market (1GB M2 = P3400.00 or US$68.00; 1GB RS MMC = P1200.00 or $24.00). Overall, I'd say this is a good 3G starter phone. It comes with most features you can actually use without the frills.

I used this phone for 3 weeks now and I'm having a problem with my provider (Mobinil/Egypt). In some specific locations the phone gives a message of No Network Access, and I can't make or receive calls. Even if I manage to make a call it only lasts for 14 seconds. If you are in Egypt and have a Mobinil line, don't buy the phone.

Well, the sound is adjusted well, in order not to have problems with your ears. With my headphones, i usually listen at 2-3 squares; I think SE's security measurement is very good for those who listen to music at high volume, and destroy their hearing in a couple of ears.

I've got this cellphone at Christmas, and, till now, I can say it works well. I had a k300i, and the difference is already feeling. I'm very proud about this phone, it's satisfying all my "requirements". A good mp3/m4a/wma player, which can almost replace the lack of a RDS radio, a pretty good camera (let not forget that we're talking of a phone); I personally like and need the minimize option for the applications, including this music player. I received this phone with quite "a lot" accessories, like the USB cable, the software, a "one ear" headphone and a 64MB M2, which are extremely useful. The screen has the perfect resolution and sharpness for a phone, I have no complains. As a conclusion, I recommend you this phone, it has more to give you than necessary, and I think there many things more important at a phone than a good-pixelated camera, lots of connectivity methods or a radio; the design is very modern, the menus simple and easy to learn; the balance of quality/price is very good from my point of view. I have one K610i too and I can use my mobile without problems connected with USB to the PC, you should have to install the software that is in the CD, I also try to find the driver on Internet an the CD that comes with the phone and I never found it, so I installed the software that comes in the CD and it works , thats the only way to sync the mobile and the PC that I know and it works good, I hope that this will help you

Summary: I'm very happy with this phone, screen is very colourful (all the icons look great) and sharp, sound is great, camera is also very nice in bright day but have to say much worse in night or faint places. Phone is easy to use and I'd say just friendly. There were small portable white speakers in the box as well (size of box of matches) so I can listen to music like small hi-fi set - it's little bit like Ipod dock station. I haven't seen them speakers on gsmarena.com K610 review, so maybe I'm just lucky to get some limited verion of this phone or something :-) They're very nice indeed. The organizer is just good enough, you can put there all necessary peoples data, I don't need anything more than that. Phone is also very compact, easily fits into the pocket which is quite important for me. Drawbacks ? Probably I'd like to see some camera lens cover - this one is quite exposed for some scratches. Also lacks of FM radio. Anyway, its small exceptionally well designed phone which delivers great value for your money, I hardly doubt you can get anything better for this price (I paid 150 eur).
