I love this phone for 2 years but its too bad the rom and ram is too litle and ist caused always hang if a lots of aplication, But for solved that, I delet some aplication actually the game that I doesnt need, thats can more space on rom. Cleaning the memory and then clear logs aplication with typing "/"/ (lglg) after using .. Hope that help to user this phone

Download the OS from the internet, install it in your pc normally by using the run option. After installation open, my computer » local disk C » program files » common files » research in motion » app loader. Scroll to the bottom and delete the vendor.xml file, then open the app loader application. Remove the battery from your phone and connect it to the pc. After the phones pin is detected select continue, then select the applications you want and click update. If it reaches a point it says reconnecting to device, insert the battery carefully. After update your phone will be back to life but minus the apps and data you inserted. Hope it helps you. :)

Unfortunately, not much at this point, you can perhaps send it back to BlackBerry in order to have one of their techs take a look at it...if they'll even accept it? The BlackBerry Torch 9860 has been off of the radar (so to speak) for so long and when combined with the the organizational redirection towards BB10; I simply doubt that you'll find much support at this stage. I assume it worked before you changed out your cover; as such, you obviously forced some change in the device through your work...you may just have to live with the consequences of your handy work and see if you can find a cell phone shop that can help you out.

I bought this phone in August 2012. Been using this till date. As BB fan, this phone had every damn thing back in those days. It has a friking awesome display for its size. An amazing camera, good battery, amazing browser. You cannot expect a better sound output both speakers and in headphones in a BB phone. (ofc times have changed now). I am soo used to the BB 7 OS, Calender, Contacts, Emails, etc., that I never shifted to android/IOS. Some how in today's world of Android, I feel left out. So, I bought a new phone finally. Sony Xperia Z. Only problem; No front cam. (DOT) thats it. Okay, I replaced its screen once, under warranty. As I spilled water over it. No shit other wise. Served Me Well ! If you are a crazy App fan, ofc you wont buy a Blackberry.

Owning for more than a year, not satisfied at all. Much better options are available in this price range now. Apps are waste, games are a pain, end button doesn't end the call, battery had to be changed after one and half year and so many other problem. Getting worse day by day. Finally getting rid of it.

Hello, I'm Ronal from Indonesia. I've got this phone for almost a year, maybe more...I forgot; no problems at all. Good battery compared to the features: touch screen, 3G network, multiple apps (BBM, WA, etc). 2 times charging in a day, well I guess it was all normal for all BlackBerry handset though. Good sounding phone, high volume, great video preview, good camera with light, what else can I expect from this? Not mention the design is awesome too, I love this point. Some suggestions to get more duration for the battery: - While night resting, try to charge the phone while off. This will fill the cell and not consuming and wasting the recharged power. - Use 2G to preserve battery if you only use this phone for chatting (like I do); besides, what purpose for you to get notified urgently using a 3G network if it's not (yet) a multimillion dollar project? Do the call for that, though. I think that's all.

Sometimes, Blackberrys are known to do that. Try doing a restart. Sleep the phone, remove the battery, wait for 10 seconds and put it back in. Turn on.

I bought mine way back in August 2012 and to this day I'm using it. Its a good phone to me. What I love the most about this phone is the BIS. I use it to download HD PC games, videos and music albums and it hadn't given me any problem to this day. I love my BB9860. It presents minor problems at times though, but I cope with them and I guess all other phones do that as well. You cannot get 100% out of a phone. Keep that in mind

Hands down the worst phone i've ever bought & owned. Don't get me wrong, it has a very good over all design in terms of it's ergonimics, but that's where it all begins & ends. Firstly the back button started malfuntioning within a few weeks of hardly any use & next went the home key. What irritated me the most about this sad excuse for modern technology was the "software" that seemed to be highly unreliable, especially in times when you need it to be. The constant updates & freezing this phone did was just poor & within roughly 7 months this phone finally crashed & I sold whatever was left of it for next to nothing. I was glad to - GOOD RIDDANCE!!

1. Won't work on protected business wireless LANs because RIM insist on using their own proxy. 2. ANY chat software won't work without RIM's BB data plan - not available on many (most?) service providers around the world. 3. Much software expects / insists on PHONE data connection and refuses to work via LAN, when LAN only is available. 4. Micro USB charging / data plug dies after 2 to 3 years use - daily plugging / un-plugging to charge or backup / sync. 5. NO WAY to stop or kill unwanted background processes - eg push advertising installed by some apps. This could be a virus to open your phone to hackers. 6. Must have a BB account to access the BB App "store", even to get free apps. These comments are specific to my personal experiences with my BB Torch 9860. I'm guessing that they may cover many of the BB range due to the OS (version 7) being used across most of the range.

Sturdy good looking fone fitted with a black leather accessory, crispyness at its best with its 480x800 pixel resolution in a 3.7" TFT screen. Responsive enough with its 1.2ghz single core processor... simply great for a cellphone, for me cellphone don't need dual core or quad core cpus simply because its a phone it is for calling, texting and listening to music and videos is a plus, but believe me you don't want to view youtube at the same time update your facebook and playing game in a 3.7" TFT touchscreen... bad for the eyes and you simply look stupid, and stupider if you pay more money for another core that is not really that useful... get a tab at least if you want to do multitasking.. camera is great with its 5mp thou video calling is not an option since it doesn't have front camera, but who want video calling now a days especially when you are in the street or you are in a comfort room.. this a whole of a package of what you need i mean what you simply really need. well this one is kinda out dated phone, but I just got mine and I fall in love with it, more than my Curve 9320... looking forward to get a taste of Z10 or the Q10 when it goes down to my level in terms of price...:)

If your device is hanging alot you can update the system to 7.0.1 and the problem will be solved and if you want the battery to live more you should modify the network to 2g if the 3g isn't needed

Thats probably because the signal of 2G is much stronger than 3G signal in your area. Go to options > Networks > Mobile network > Network Mode > change it to 3G (only). Usually i keep it on 2G to save battery & switch to 3G when needed.

You will need to Reload the OS on the phone to get it back up. Most likely the OS update was incomplete or has some bugs.

I used bb curve 9320 before and Change to bb torch 9860..this phone performance quit impressive and running good..but it cannot get 3g line at my home..my ex-bb 9320 doesn't have this problem..even in my room it can run 3g smoothly..now I had to climb and sit on the water tank on top of my home roof to get the signal...but only one slack,doesn't mean it useless..

I have used this phone for about a year and a Half now. I have not experienced any charging port problem as reported by some. The phone is an excellent choice among the blackberrys that existed before the Z10, Q10 and Q5. If you don't wanna use OS 10 yet, you'll find this phone a good choice. Typing on the 3.7" screen is such a joy. And the 5megapixel camera delivers some impressive performance.

I took time to read a lot comments about this phone but amazingly I did not read any mentioned of its main problem and that is charging port problem. Right now I use a desktop chareger , having fixed it for several times.I think black berry and its partners failed in the production of the phone.

Ok so I see everyone boo hooing over this phone but its like everyone is too stupid to know how to actually use the phone. You need to do a complete wipe of the entire phone before loading up a new operating system duh!! And never use the device memory unless you absolutly have too cause os 7.1 is a resource hog and loves to eat memory. I actually know how to properly use a blackberry and it works just as good as androids and fisher price phones. You just gotta make sure to use the phone properly or it will get buggy and fuck up. 9860 is a great phone though, great screen, lots of apps, great for people who want a pretty phone but don't care if they have all the latest apps. I am not a 12 year old girl so candy crush and angry birds I could care less if that crap is on my phoneor not cause I actually have a life to live.

I got this mobile 4 months ago. I did an Blackberry OS update ( Software Version: 7.1 bundle 1149 )on 16th of this month. From that day I am not able to use my phone it just keep freezing. Even the power button does not work. I keep removing the battery and put it back in but no use. I managed twice to get in safe mode and swipe clean all files. still no go. Now I am not able to use my phone completely. Not even in safe mode.

I'm from jakarta (Indonesia) I held this phone almost a year.. for the first 2 month i bought this phone, It's really annoying.. - Battery quickly draining in 3G (2G, 3 time charging in 1 day) - Restart almost...even without cause I knew..?? - Application lag(dunno why,perhaps memory leak..?!?!) - lag response when typing, cause perhaps running apps background. - Slow response on Browser - Slow response write & reading ext MC. When I've got a time 4 my self to really check deep inside to my MONZA, research forum, from BB service outlet's.. I've found most of big problem about this phone. There a lot of bug with the OS 7 in this phone after changing a couple OS, testing application.. Finally I've found the resolve all of my problems. Right now I'm using OS 7.1.0 built 2283 7.1.0.825 Vodafone (Hybrid). It's very light when I using apps & multitask. Battery power 1 day charging (normally using) All day Running application: Twitter, whatsup, YM, wechat)normally using phone call, texting, sometime browsing Battery upgrade JM-1 2800mh original It's all smoothly running well no heat no lag no restart, no problem. Last I knew, the OS update from this phone reach 7.1.0 build 2508/7.1.0.912 from Telstra. Kind want to sell this phone, but after that it's really a good partner till now.. I'm very satisfied.. Had this almost 2 years. Great phone. Its quality and specs are spot on for price. You need to spend. time setting up the phone but once you do its fine. Pay a few bucks and get a schedule restart application. I have one and set it to restart phone while I sleep on a daily basis. Keeps everything running smooth with minimal hang ups. I reccomend this phone.

Positive: 1) Excellent display (Liquid crystal ) 2) 768mb ram good for browsing 3) Stylish look 4) Battery back up is good 5) 5mp camera is good Negative: 1) Hangs frequently and you need a battery pull very oftently 2) For downloading simple applications you need to pay money.Free applications are only on trial basis after 2 days they will expire.(Android is the best in this regards) 3)Third party applications wont work. (irritating) 4) No 3d/HD games for free download. 5) Some applications (gtalk, yahoo etc) wont work on wifi. If you are looking for complete entertainment (gaming, downloads etc) this is not the mobile then you are searching for, go for a Android device.

Try to decrease the backlight brightness to 20 from the screen display, and backlight timeout 20 Sec, also check if you have any application working on the background press menu key for 2-3 sec when you are on the home screen and close all the unnecessary applications,switch to 2G network when you are not using internet. Hope this will help .

I have battery problem with this phone. I'm using MeterBerry apps to monitor my battery Average Discharge Rate n device Memory Drain or to reset my torch. Problem is, eventhough my batt have 80% power but once I reset my phone n after on, my batt will left 10% pwr. Then, eventhough it still have 80% left (at 4pm) from unplug time 7.30am, it also can suddenly become low batt Can sum1 tell me what is the real prob I'm facing now? I am using a bb 9860 and I must admit that the battery doesn't really last that long. I still have to charge at least once a day but that is after using my bb for browsing the net, making phone calls, taking pictures and sending text messages. Those activities are power consuming and it is not surprising that the battery drains faster than other phones. For those planning to buy a new phone, I suggest that you take note of the features you are looking for and search for the best one. Don't just go for the latest one. You'll end up getting tired of it :)

9380 and 9860 are totally difrent though they may seem to look alike. Yo 9380 has 512 internal memory while the 9860 is 4GB.

Using a BB is jux like using a pc. With pc, u scan for virus, malware, u perform backups n u empty recycle bin. Same with bb jux dat da process is call wiping. Jux backup ur data n wipe da phone n install only data u need. Dats all, phone is always as gud as new.

yes, it's possible to recover your wiped data from your phone's mass storage (internal memory) but mostlikely not all files especially when you already saved new files (photos, games, music files, etc.)on your phone's memory. you can try windows file recovery softwares to do so. just make sure you had bb desktop software installed on your pc or laptop. use mass storage mode for your phone's usb function when connected to your pc and so goes on for the recovery procedure. i hope this could help your dilemma...

I have had this model with me for the past 9 months or so, and frankly I was quite surprised to see the attacking comments on it here. For a starter, I knew from day one when I got it that it is not a "Top-Of-The-Line" model, simply I was looking for a blackberry, with reasonable camera and touch screen. This one filled all the blanks perfectly. I've been a blackberry user since the Curve 8900 and it was always just a pure "secondary/work" device besides another main device. I have to say that once I got this I was not sure if I made the right choice given that it is the first ever full touch screen model. I did face the hanging and rebooting out of thin air, but that was just for 3-4 weeks from using it and then I found tips and tricks that made everything go smooth till the moment I wrote this. 1. Get a new memory card and have it formatted using your PC as "FAT32" or from your device (which I read it is even better) from "Options>Device>Storage and then selecting Format from the options list". I'm using a Sandisk 16GB class 4 card with no issues at all. The First one (also Sandisk, 4GB came with the device) gave me the card reading error several times and I lost a few shots and files because I do a sync twice a week. With the new card, no issues till now; 2. Make sure you get all the updates from Blackberry; 3. Remove languages and applications that you do not use; 4. Go to "Options>Display>Date and Time" and set the "Update Time" to "Manual"; 5. Go to "Options>Network and Connections>Mobile Network" and set the "Network Mode" to one mode only (either 2G only or 3G only), not "2G or 3G" as per the default setting; 6. This is mainly for the new Google Maps application, it was running fine until the latest update that happened in November 2012 (or around that time), I tried so many things to make it work via going back to older versions and doing multiple formats (device wipes) and other stuff with no use, then I found a hint from a great person online that mentioned to go to "Options>Device>Maps" and just change the "Map Display Language" to "English" instead of "International" as per the default setting. It worked fine since then and it is displaying other languages (Arabic in my case) as well as English with no issues at all. 7. I have tried using the device with the "Battery Saving Mode" always on and then off and to be honest I got a mixed bag of results. Sometimes it just lives for 2 whole days without issues but the majority is having 25%-30% by the time I go to sleep in the same day (I have the network set to 3G only). Now, I have no lag in any part of the use, I'm enjoying this device to the point that it is the main device now (not the secondary anymore) and I use it also for my personal emails besides the work one, WhatsApp, FaceBook, RSS from Social feeds, BBM, SMS, Browsing and of course Google Maps besides the usual in/out calls. One other thing that I have just discovered about 2 months ago, the music player of this device is really nice provided you use a good set of headphones (I'm using it with Sony XB-900 and XB-500) and it is my best mate in my walking/jogging. Now, the things that I couldn't find a solution to until now (unfortunately it is true, nothing is perfect) is the Bluetooth disconnect and reconnect randomly. First I thought the problem is from my car's bluetooth but it happened with every handset I used (Nokia, Sony Ericsson, Jabra) so I just lived with it and don't complaint about it anymore as it happens just for few seconds every now and then. Bottom line, this is a really nice device, a true work horse, excellent voice clarity and connection, easy to use and comes handy when needed to take a quick shot or video, has some nice customization (I use the Advance OS & LED to control many things in it from the color of the notification light to the vibrations on connect/disconnect calls...etc), the size is PERFECT for a full touch device, build quality is good. Having said that, is it the best one I had? It does not have anything that is WOW compared to other devices (its not the best camera around or the longest battery life or the fastest web browser) but again, it costed me less than $300 SIM-free and from this point, it does stand out in the crowd. It's giving me more value for what I paid for compared to almost all the devices I had before, and I've been using GSM mobile phones since 1992 and before that the old wireless devices that we used to carry a suitcase with it for the transmission if anyone remembers those old heavy ones from the 80's that needed charging for 6 hours every 4 hours standby :-). This one is for sure among my top 10 ones.

Most of the hand issue is because of the Memory Card, usually when you connect and work with it on PC diffrent virus of files gets saved. I saw almost more than 100 files saved as txt on my phone when i deleted my phone worked perfectly.

I have used BB's for some years. The return arrow key sticks, the phone just randomly calls people from my contact list without prompt from me. I was in an office meeting, everyone saw the phone on the table, the phone just called someone. Everything else is great with it. Apps etc work brilliantly. BBD hard to get through.

Yea the BB 10 will be out soon, but its pricing will all be higher if not on the same pricing as the BB porche, forums are also opinion based majority of the times. The only true feature qualities which have been released about the BBZ10 are found on the BB website(http://global.blackberry.com/blackberry-­10.html).No doubt the features of the BB 10 series will be more updated compared to the BB torches, however these line of mobiles which came out for applying the BB OS 7 will definately be obtaining a few updates from RIM to keep its market safe. So if anyone is to decide on not buying this phone due to the release of BB 10, it would be both a good and a bad depending on ur preferences. Thet BB torch 9860 however is a marvel. I'd recommend it to anyone. The experience you get from it is awesome and with the new interfaces to come for the BB10 series, there are much to be expected from it. So do not hesitate to purchase it. In addition, it has a sleek design, i can't stop admiring it lol.

BB9860 is a good phone and it comfortable to type with if uv got big fingers jus use it in portrait view, although u need time to get used to the ultra-sensitive touch screen. Battery is normal. Takes u up to a day, but we all know BB is behind on making longlasting batteries. cheers

Worst phone i have ever had and i have had a lot of phones. i cant have to many pictures or music cause it mucks up the phone, if i download apps it freezes the phone. This Torch has great hardware and midume performance. but this phone stuffed with errors in both hardware and software. I tested this phone for two month and i was amazed at first but then I got small errors. Because I am a patient man, I didn't look at these errors as a BIG problem. I've got to say this phone served well and gave me what need. after the first month I notic a problem in the "Back" key I have to press it 2 or 3 time to get a result. and then the "Menu" key not responding. I thought it was a frimware problem, so I upgread from 7.0 to 7.1 they chang few things, but the keys respond at first but then agine same thing. I had enough at that time, so I went to sell it. the price go 2/3 down (bought 1500, sell 500, lost 1000 in 2 month). At the market I found the same phone with the same problem, then I realized it was [manufacturers defect]< translated. if your looking for a blackberry go for bold or curve even these phones got problems. Now I have Galaxy S II. it's working fine for 3 month with NO problems at all. sorry I am not native english.

To set up this phone correctly you need to down load a ram optimiser. Either advanced ram optimiser or memory booster or AUTmemory cleaner. I have all 3. These are in APPS world. Set the auto clean / boost function for every couple of hours. Do the same for the internal memory clean app which is under security. Get a deReset app as well and set this to auto reset while you're asleep. Phone will be super fast.

I love my bb torch 9860! No logs. Cool apps and great sensitive screen! Mine is running at os 7.1! I don't have problem with battery. Batt life last up 2days or more with regular call and tex, of course music as well. Bbm, net and 3g last for whole day :)

Do not buy this phone. This is the only phone I hated so much after using many blackberry and Android phones. The reasons> The buttons are very cheap quality and very hard. The enjoyment of having a liquid touch experience will be shattered when you press this button, A large number of users are facing issues with these buttons not responsive at all. The back button and menu button will not function. The end button also do not function sometimes. It is so irritating that the problem occurs many times in a day but difficult to reproduce. If you go to the service center, they will say there is no problem. See the following pains of many users. I am one of them. Horrible phone. Stay away. Even the blackberry team is keeping silent.

After 2 hour you will recive a hotmail e-mail. BB dosn´t has this type of problem and is able to work with any e-mail.

Have 9860 and its a great phone. Covers all bases exceptionally well ( calls, internet, media etc). Its beautifully made and has a premium feel. Battery is no issue as I get anywhere from 10 hours to a full day depending on use. As with all BB's you need to fine tune the settings to maximise the phones potential. Would recomend this device.

Do not get a blackberry torch. I have the 9860. It's a great looking phone and has most of the usual smartphone features, it was unfortunately a rush job and the operating system is useless. Mine seizes up on just about every screen and i can't reverse out. Even when i can it doesn't close the frozen screen, it saves it for the next time i open that app.

The only down-side is the battery life. After full charge over night sometimes I do not get home before the phone battery is dead. I'm still searching for a solution. I have to mention that I DO NOT run apps. in the background. I always close the app. fro the menu command, do not leave FB, YM, etc. or any browser windows open. I use the phone for talk and BBM, and occasional pics.

apple does not make money using high quality phones. in fact, apple is notorious for deliberately missing out features to incise customers to purchase their next phone, which in turn misses out features that the latest blackberry's, samsungs, nokia's all have. RIM is actually in the majority of how they build and release phones. Apple is only as profitable as it is because much like nike, addidas etc, it is simply a popular brand and even though their are people out their who genuinely buy apple products for the features and applications available, the majority of apple customers only buy apple products because they are sheep - and they want what their friends have and what is "cool." This then creates a marketing cascade, meaning their are only so many apps available on apple, because more people have apple than any other brand. Android is the most popular OS, but that is split between the HTC, Samsung and other branding. That said Android is stealing more and more market share from apple every day giving meaning to the saying "all good things must come to an end" - and trust me, apple will end one day. Personally i have this blackberry, not apple or android, purely because I prefer the blackberry OS to that of any available on the market. After using symbian, Android and iOS, blackberry os tops them all (apart from OS6 which was rushed, and rubbish).

For an example look at apple's company , they start saving money for each phone the want to make .... So they make only 1 phone each year ! And they always have new feature's .... But RIM doesn't work that way , they spend billions of dollars on making cheap phones and they have almost the same features ! For an example look at os6 devices(they have the same processors as the previous generation which is os5, but only new os and camera that's all) and os7 devices(powerfull processors and the same os theme but a little bit different from os6, but crappy battery life) So to me I think RIM company tries to rip off its customers by offering the same specs but with different OS ! I hope RIM could work hard in releasing BB 10 ....

Insisted on BB Torch 9860 against all advice. I must say its a super all touch cell by BB. No issues faced so far. Upgraded to OS 7.1. Rock solid construction, great feel in the hand especially in landscape, zippy fast... Ive switched from Jelly Bean, i find the BB keyboard a bit different, especially the backscape key can grow a bit. Overal no complains.

Hey there, mine use to have the same problem and in some cased it'l reboot on it's own. I got to find out that my battery was having patial contacts with it's needles. So, all I did wz cut a pice of papper (really tinny) and wedged it, close it back again and ever since then it's been ok. Give it a shot abd let's see.

Have an issue with my Torch 9860. Both the back and the BB buttons stop responding (simultaneously). I've found holding down the phone button for a few seconds sometimes works to get them to respond again. This works until I open anything, then they stop working again.

i got this phone on friday & i've been having problems since, it runs on the OS7.1 & the ONLY app i can use is BBM, i'm in trinidad so idk if it's bcuz of our network (which i doubt) cause i have a few friends with it & all their apps work, i can't even sign up my e-mail, all it keeps saying is connecting to server then it says "error has occured" 15mins after, i even downgraded it to run on OS7.0 & still only BBM works, can't use e-mail, facebook, twitter nor whatsapp.... Great Phone. I think its by far the best phone RIM has released. The keyboard is comfortable in landscape. No performance issues. Battery life is good too (after updating to 7.1) I say, Go for it if a physical keyboard isnt much of a priority to you.

I am often in the 9810 forim and people ask which to get between the 9810 and 9860. This is what I posted there. Just my opinion and thoughts. Truthfully, I was considering getting the 9860 at one time but stayed with the 9810. The main thing the 9860 has over the 9810 is the bigger screen. Oh, it also is a little lighter. The battery life is better on the 9810, especially if you upgrade to 7.1 software. If you do a lot of texting, typing, and email you would like the physical keyboard on the 9810. The 9860 would probably be a little better for media because the screen is a little bigger. I had heard that the 9860 is buggy at times. My friend has the 9860 and I have used it. That and the bad battery life is why I stayed with the 9810. Just MHO

Bro don't even think about getting the 9780 ! I have it and it lags a lot ! It sure has a decent battery but the os is laggy, and the internet is very very slow ! The 9860 has it all ! But the only disadvantage is the battery life ! Its not a problem to me cuz I carry a portable charger for it. U can buy it from ebay its cheap . Hope this helps ;)

Well listen if u have a large thumb or stuff then the 9810 is the best option for both touch and keypad .... And if u like to use touchscreen phones then the 9860 is the right choise . Btw the torch 9810 has the same and exactly specs of the 9860. And the torch 9860 is really affordable and cheaper than the torch 9810 ! So its up to u. Same specs but with a different price.

This phone is no good! The touch screen does not repond well especially in cold or humid weather. The phone freezes often for several second and suddenly continues to function. No Radio ... Camera is average. We have 3 of these amongst friends and all have the same problem. The touch screen alone makes this phone extremely difficult to use forcing one to have to delete and retype something over and over again... Stick to keypad or get another phone. Blackberry is lightyears behind in hardware!

I bought this phone in may and for me its been a mixed bag.the screen is very good, I guess the best on any BB to date.the user interface is very friendly and intuitive.however, the keyboard is very frustrating and the battery is the worst I have ever experienced on a phone.Even with the phone on idle (ie no calls or internet or sms) ,it can barely last up to ten hours.I also wish the screen was bigger and that it had flash support in the browser.if u wanna buy it just note that the battery sucks.......and big time too and that the keyboard is very frustrating too.I guess BB is definitely being left behind in the OS race.I'm definitely in for gs3 or htc one x next.

I wouldn't buy the Torch 9860... I've had so many issues from day 1. I get messages with no notification. The keys don't work properly, so it makes it so hard to return to previous pages. The battery doesn't last that long and is very temperamental, one day it lasts all day, the next barely half the day. I need to take the battery out at least 3 times a week to reboot the phone coz it freezes. My friends had the BB and have traded it for the new Samsung Galaxy and are very happy.

Some tips and just like me, everyone will quote this as one of the BEST phones around; 1. All BB phones have memory leak issue. To address that, download Memory Boosted from BB App World from phone. Run it once a week and there will be no issues with the slowness. 2. The day you buy the phone, let the battery drain completely and then, charge the phone completely. Put the brightness level to minimum, it would still be clearly visible and the battery will last for entire day with full usage. Njoy..!!!!

I own the 9810 Torch. It's screen is a little smaller, but battery life is better, especially after upgrading to 7.1 software. I am able to get an upgrade now, but I am waiting until BB10 devices arrive later this year to see how good they are. I would wait if I was you unless you get a really great deal without contract.

I have got to say that I am EXTREMELY disappointed with the BB 9860...I had to have my original handset replaced after only a few weeks, due to constant lagging, recurrent freezing and the dismal battery life. I had originally thought that maybe it was an issue with just that handset, but even with my current/replacement, I am still regularly having the same issues... I know that the poor performance of my devise has absolutely nothing to do with anything that I do with it, as I back it up every week, I ALWAYS install new software updates as soon as they become available, and I have numerous memory and battery boosting apps installed on it...I feel extremely let down by this devise, because when I had the BB 9700 model, I rarely had any issues with lagging etc, and even with texting, browsing the internet and listening to music on it all day every day, I would still have almost half a battery left by the time I was going to bed at night, whereas with the 9860, I have got to charge my phone anywhere up to three times a day, just to make sure that it doesn't go flat on me while I am out...Definitely starting to reconsider buying another BlackBerry when I upgrade my handset next...

hey i posted this comment ages ago about this phone here's what i had to say, this has to be the slowest phone i have ever used and i upgraded to this from an iphone 3! the facebook application is completely silly , you cant even view events but yet they come up in your calender but once you click to view them it says no longer available not mention the delay in notifications from social networks and messengers. email funcationality is the only good thing i found about this phone. it is also so difficult to type on aswell plus when starting up it takes forever to load. i can safely say i had this phone for a month and now im glad im getting rid of it ! would deffintly not recommend this phone to anyone and it such a shame because blackberry are a very good brand , the just missed the mark with this one i think :( hope that helps :) blackberry is a great brand but won't tell anyone to buy this phone :(

It is "officially" up to date based on your carrier. To get 7.1 you have to download it then install it. I found my 7.1 link through the forums at Crackberry.com. Just be sure to back up your phone before you update to 7.1 in the event things don't go well. Some of the 7.1 updates are buggy, so read to see which one to get. I'm using a 9810 so my version won't help you. Hope this helps.

Price dropped to USD 400 in Indonesia. Was about to buy one but held back because of very cheap materials used to build 9860. I checked 3 pieces in Blackberry showroom but all of them had thumb nail marks on the casing near the latch which is supposed to be pushed in to open the battery cover. What in the world is RIM doing. Their quality is degrading with time. I am sure 90% of the 9860 users worldwide must have faced this issue. Very cheap plastic used to manufacture this set. Only good thing is RIM has provided steel battery cover. So whats the deal, when you open the cover you are going to spoil the body around it. Even a slightest touch of thumb around the latch makes ugly marks on the casing ( so delicate ). I am not sure if after some use back cover may loosen too. This has to be asked to those who have used this set for a few months. I kept myself away from buying this model. Earlier I also had problems to find a perfect built unit of BB 9900.

I am not sure what you are talking about. In Indonesia where I am I have 3 BB's all of which are of the highest standard - 8520, 9700 and 9900. In fact they get a hard time in the mining business and never have a problem, as opposed to people with touch screens that break. Sure this is about the 9860, but I do not want a touch screen, but do want a BB as it is by far the best for business. I dont want decoration mobile phones. Quality and reception in a BB is far superior to other mobiles on the market from experience, with the possible exception of older Nokias. People get sucked in with the window dressing of Android and 12 months later they say it is just another mobile but slower and more expensive to text than a BB. Sure good photos ansd screen but after the initial thrill of buying an Android mobile people loose interest. That is how good Android are marketed. Poor reception, lagging, no support for mid range to cheap Android mobiles, and their value drops like hell. A SII second hand in JKT can get cheaper than a second hand BB9900, yet the SII new was more expensive. What is that telling you!

this has to be the slowest phone i have ever used and i upgraded to this from an iphone 3! the facebook application is completely silly , you cant even view events but yet they come up in your calender but once you click to view them it says no longer available not mention the delay in notifications from social networks and messengers. email funcationality is the only good thing i found about this phone. it is also so difficult to type on aswell plus when starting up it takes forever to load. i can safe;y say i had this phone for a month and now im glad im getting rid of it ! would deffintly not recommend this phone to anyone and it such a shame because blackberry are a very good brand , the just missed the mark with this one i think :(

Just picked up my 9860 today which I upgraded from a 8520.I have already used it as a remote to type on my Playbook.Biggest drain I find on my batteries is leaving bluetooth on during the day.I also have a 9810 which I put in a Seidio case with belt clasp making it a pretty rugged,bullet proof device I use whilst detailing cars.Now I am typing this message on my new Blackberry mini keyboard.Cant believe all the negative hype about RIM and their products which I find work. Very well.

for your battery's life just change the network mode to 2G, then you won'T need to recharge your phone more than once a day. i used to have an iphone and i had to recharge it minimum two times a day it depends on its use. I have been using the phone for a week now. Previously using other blackberry devices: Impression so far: 1. Weak battery life (not trying to bore anyone). I feel this is high on priority for a business phone. My old BBs could all at least last 3 days of use. This baby, sometimes can't give 24 hours. I don't play games, I don't listen to music. Just pure work. I.e. Receiving push email often, and BBM. The only consolation is it charges quick. 2.Screen is great. 3. Touch typing, still not get use to it after a week. lots of mistake in typing still. When I switch to my nokia E72, I could feel the difference immediately. If you need to punch in lots of text, this is not the best option. Not as good as Iphone input. Will i buy it again as a business phone? Yes, for now. The novelty factor hasn't gone yet. The screen is mainly keeping me interested as compared to the other BB with half screen.

This is the BEST BlackBerry mobile yet. Blackberry phones lacks features which other mobile offers currently. But the blakcberry OS is the best mobile OS n there's no comparison for it. I'm using just because of its, though it doesn't have front camera,video calling, jst 5mp camera, poor battery. BlackBerry should pay attention towards mobile features & must introduce newer features phone soonest..... We are waiting for it.

It is a very nice phone but the battery is simply a joke... It is worst than the phone of 15 years ago. It is just a month since I had with all the proper discharging and charging procedures and if you are leaving home early with very basic usage (no bluetooth, no wifi, no web browsing) just calls and BBM instant messaging and of course some emails (just 16) one hour of phone calls in excellent reception it simply will not last the day. I unplugged it in the morning at 9 and by 10 in the evening that I returned home the battery was at 10%. My previous Nokia X6 with heavier use (apart from the email service) was lasting 3 days before it went dead!!

Listen to yourselves, you lot that are always moaning about the battery life, you do go on!!! I've had this phone for months now and the battery can last me for a couple of days with NORMAL phone usage, ie making calls, texting/bbm and web browsing. Most apps on all phones are well over-rated in my opinion, delete them all and bookmark the mobile websites instead, saves on memory and background battery power. If you want to play games all day and have the time then go get yourself a playstaion or xbox instead and please, please stop boring us all about the battery life!

I own a blackberry torch for 4months now and am having trouble with the battery. It will not hold a charge for more then 4 hours with me not using it at all. This is the second one I have heard of the other is owned by my friends son he is on his 2nd battery in 4 months and this one is doing the same. Even better than blackberry bold touch 9900 for performance, built quality, camera performance, audio and video performance. everything running very smooth, no loading, no lag. the bad are, only battery life (1-2 times charging a day), and a bit hard if you want to restart. I bought a Blackberry Torch 9860 on 9th January 2012. The phone had a lot of issues like (1) Incoming calls did not ring (2) Nothing was audible to me nor the person I call while the call was connected (3) Phone used to hang frequently (4) Applications like camera, map & video recorder did not work. My complain was registered by Reddington India on 19th January 2012, they reinstalled the Blackberry Operating System 7.0.0.296, platform 5.0.0.496 and assured me the phone will work fine if it dosen't then I will be given a new phone as replacement. The issue with my phone was NOT resolved, I informed Reddington India that the problem with my phone is not fixed and they provided me a Delivery Order for a new Blackberry 9860 from the same retailer. I got a new Blackberry on 30th January 2012. It was horrible to encounter the same issues with my new replacement phone too, the same problems were in that phone too. There was absolutely no problem with my SIM card or service provider because I checked it on a different phone. I was completely disappointed with this Blackberry product. The phone malfunction got me into personal and professional misunderstandings as I missed calls. I needed a phone I can rely on, I was sick and tired of running to the service center and asked the retailer to give me a different phone other than blackberry. My sincere advise buy HTC, Samsung or Apple in the same price but never Balckberry cause Balckberry SUCKS.

First of all I'd like to say that I'm a BB fan. I had the awful Storm 2 before which was terrible and I was about to switch over to android. I decided to give RIM another chance with the 9860 and have to say that I'm well pleased. It's an excellent phone all round with one exception: the battery on mine doesn't quite stay in place and if you put the handset down a bit too firmly the bottom edge of the battery edges out slightly causing the phone to re-boot! I have cut a bit of card and placed it inside the back cover to keep it snugly in place, so no more battery slip-outs! Good work overall RIM, I'd give the phone 9.5/10.

I am having issues with this phone too! I have had mine for 6 weeks and it started turning itself off for no apparent reason and I have to take the battery out and put back in to get it to work again. Then it comes back on and tells me invalid sims card. I take the battery out and it works again. It now won't turn back on at all. I had it replaced through warranty received 2 days ago and the new one is doing the same thing. They did not replace the battery only the phone and replaced it with a refurb on top of that. I don't appreciate paying that much for a phone and getting refurb phones back. I bought a brand new one. I am a die hard blackberry user, but this one is not worth it. I don't like the keyboard or the speed of this phone either. Don't waste your money. I am now stuck with refurbs and repalcements for a phone I bought brand new from At&t for the next 2 years.

i just upgraded to OS 7.1.0.190 and now there's wifi hotspot feature on my BB 9860. the only problem is, once i turn on the mobile hotspot, the phone turns off BIS and uses regular carrier's internet. they can't run at the same time!

My BB Torch 9860 is still under warranty and I called BB authorised service center in the country I live now and adviced to send it for service and repair which will take about 1 month. I am a newbie and I am an average phone user. My first time BB experience deteriorated after this incident that my BB 9860 restarts and loops restarts again and again cant get to load into phone mode during start up, I have never expected BB 9860 with OS7 to be having this issue at the first place. This poor experience is so frustrating to me and just in 2 month it has to be sent for service and repair. I guess likely my BB 9860 will be reset to factory setting once again and everything on the phone will be gone.. So pity! I hope RIM people who read my message understands this untoward feelings for BlackBerry devices. I wish everyone else with your BlackBerry device good luck and all the best.. Maybe I'm the unlucky one to get this issue or maybe there are others who face similar problems. Please share your experience with me. This model unable to get any car charger (original or compatible) to charge. The phone screen will shown insufficient of current or keep silent without charging. Had been tested from output 500mA to 700mA but still fail except original home charger (750mA) and pc. My external power bank with output 700mA was the only non blackberry charger could charge it fully. Unable to get an original blackberry car charger to fit this model, 9860. Why ?

The processing speed is very well, it fits in my pocket and very easy to carry everywhere.Using the Keyboard of Blackberry Torch 9860 is default and the battery life is very poor when using applications or internet. But overall good arrival to BB users.

Bought my 9860 2wks ago. I just love the phone. Apart from the battery life, which can be lengthened by switching off wifi when not in and switching to 2g when not browsing the web, I'm quite pleased with the phone. Fast response time - booting up (even from a battery pull), loading apps, and surfing the web (varies depending on network or wifi hotspot) Great built-in apps - docs to go, tabbed browser, compass, maps, im apps (yahoo, google talk, windows live), social feeds app (allows viewing of social networking feeds, rss feeds, etc all in one app), multimedia apps (camera, video, music, podcasts, etc) Great graphics - sharp images, smooth rendering and transitions Decent built in storage - the 2.5gb built in storage is very useful. Quite frankly, the 4gb microSD I'm using (bought separately) is still empty. If youre into huge video and music files, you can purchase a 32gb card and that should be more than enough. All in all I find it to be a great phone. The phone is well worth the money spent. For those still doubting BB's work on this all touchscreen phone, all I can say is that they did well with this one. Great job BlackBerry!!

Ok, so I currently own an iPhone 4S and thought I'd tried the new Blackberry Storm. Let me just start by saying I love iPhone but I also love my new BB. The iPhone wins when it comes to the app store (obviously) but that aside I do prefer the 9860. The social feeds I love, the touch screen is regardless of what I have read on here and I love what BB brings overall. The only negative I have found thus far on the BB is you can not "like" on FB or view likes!

To all those who kept complaining about the battery life, you should have known better. Look at the battery specification! Its pretty obvious isn't it? And also...to those who keep saying the screen is very responsive, I'm sure you haven't used an iPhone or a samsung galaxy s2 before. They make this screen feel like a rovk. The virtual keyboard is unusable in potrait mode and when you use it in landscape...you'll have to use both your hanas.besides, using it is like a leap of faith. You have to put your thumbs on the screen and hope you hit the correct button because all the icons and menu are made to suite all blackberrys which also include smallvones like the bold 9790 and curve 9360.its not made customly to suite the touch screen. That shows that they are cutting costs and and time. Oh...to close the virual keyboard without pressing the menu key, you'll have to click on a thin line above the viryual keyboard which is next to impossible. Or maybe my thumbs are too big...sumting ike a human's thumb size. -ps- if u find any typo in my post...its because of this retard virtual keynoard on this phone..I'm not going to correct it to show yoy how bad it is!

I just changed from the 9800 to the 9860. The battery life is not as good (totally sux)and if your used to the touchscreen keyboard takes a bit (used the old qwerty easily) of fixing. Predictive sometimes takes over which can be a pain. With all of that however I'm enjoying using the 9860, just hope BB can improve the battery life. I expect at least a couple of days before needing to recharge and this just ain't cutting it.

I have to say that I am now on my 4th blackberry torch. I really like to product but they keep switching off, never to come to life again. And I have tried cleaning the battery and charging. Have been using this handset for the last one month and I must say that I m satisfied with it.... The only issue is the battery backup... I have tried and tested every possible way but the back up is not increasing... RIM should consider this as this is BUSINESS class phone the backup should b atleast one day.. Where as the internal memory is concerned its is 2.5 GB... Not 4 or 8 as its being mentioned on the website... On the whole its a really good phone and I would highly recommend it.... Not to forgget the Touch is superb.....with smooth and fast browsing....

I've been using my 9860 since october 17th, and i find t very confortable and the digital keyboard is fine for me. The only problem i have is that it doesn't work with the 3G band of my service provider :(. they transmit at 850 GMS.

To save on battery turn off location enabling first. This uses too much of the internal resources for no practical benefit. Turn screen brightness down and also screen timeout. If you play games all day on a mobile, go get a life instead.

At first I'm still doubtful of buying this Blackberry Monza/Monaco because of some negative reviews on virtual keypad... but once I got it, 2 days after I get used to it... accurate and precise... I have been using this Torch since a week. So far, I'm happy with my purchase. I got my mails delivered instantaneously to me and the wide screen lets you browse the net comfortably. I become comfortable with the keyboard after a while and can type really fast. In the first 2 days the battery get to last 6 hours under heavy use but now it lasts a whole day and even more in case of normal use. Only one problem happened to me is that the touch screen happened to freeze one time but I found fast solution to it by removing the battery.

Very pleased with this phone, as far as features go....nice design, good icons, smooth operation. I found the battery life wasn't great at first, but have since downloaded a battery saver app that is fantastic, I'm now getting a day and a half out of one charge. I did have some issues with the catch on the back cover-it kept popping off, which was fairly annoying, but have a gel case from Blackberry now which has alleviated this problem. Picture quality with the 5 megapixel camera is great, on par with the Nokia N8 I had previously, even though 7 megapixel less than the N8. This phone is the business...not a gadget like some phones on the market at the moment, this handset utilises good technology and lovely design. I like!!

After spending so much we have to buy extra battery & it's charger to stay connected for 1 day. We have to charge the phone twice in a day for normal use. Forget about other applicaions.

However, I look at this new phone and I can't help but notice that this phone is already 3 years old. Look at it, its the original iPhone with a BB logo on it. I'm worried that Research In Motion is clutching at straws here after back-to-back quarterly sales drops in the US. I currently have an original BB Bold - a good device, though the battery life is very poor. I spent a good 10 minutes yesterday 'playing' with the new 9860 and have to tell you, it is awful. People, run a simple comparison between the Samsung Galaxy SII & the 9860 and you will see exactly what I mean - no contest. A definite no-no for business users who need to write messages!

Battery life is very very poor. I am surprising why Blackbrry is playing with us. After spending so much we have to buy extra battery & it's charger to stay connected for 1 day. We have to charge the phone twice in a day for normal use. Forget about other applicaions. Go for Blackberry bold 3 9780 if u want to buy any blackberry without touch done.

PPL, I love Blackberry Phones and I just bought the 9860, Love it keyboard is easy to use, BUT.... My wife took a chance and bought an htc desire HD, OMG WTF. I never knew it but HTC is XTREMELY cooler and better to use than any blackberry, I now have regrets, Give HTC a try you wont go wrong , trust me

I'm currently using the new Torch 9860, it might be fast but relay.... can't feel any difference from my eldest bold 9780.

Just got it yesterday. Amazing phone (especially for BB fans). Battery life could be better though. Quite a few programs I had on my BB9700 do not work on this. I can now put the Ipod on the side!

The only thing to worry about - as I think - is the battery life coz the same battery (1230 mAh) is serving the Bold 9900 with major complaints about awful performance and very short life with heavy use ... Imagine people are complaining about a 2.8 inch display, what would they do about 3.7 inch one ????? I think RIM should take this issue into consideration coz sacrificing battery performance for the sake of decreasing phone's thickness might not be an optimum approach ...

The difference between 9860 and 9850 is the sim card slot. 9850 doesnt have any simcard slot. read the specs first before u complain!

U can't game properly with a touchphone. This aint all bad but not all perfectly refined for da family. Bbm is rubbish lest u a bussiness person with lots of BB owning friends. Business phone ok, then it pretty good. Apps for this needs to grow. I can live with this, 2 year plan, only $500 outright. Good thing Facebook games from BB apps not log on able. 7/10...

Do not wast money buying this phone. Looks good and touch screen great but nothing compare to iPhone or Android device with many Applications plus the keyboard so small for typing. Android Device like Samsung Galaxy S2 or HTC Sensation. If you really Blackberry fan as I am too buy Bold 9900 is much better choice than 9860.

I previously owned the blackberry 9700, and I was pretty satisfied with the perfromance with it. However, I felt that i need to change my phone the soonest. Being a huge blackberry fan, i decided to get the new BB9900 here in Dubai, but when the torch 9860 was released after, it immediately captured me, and fell in love with it, I bought it. Now am using it, and it just works perfectly well. At the beginning, having some hard time using the suretype touch keys, but got used to it anyway after few hours of bbm chatting!!!

No radio antennae because conflict with BIS or BES services and draining battery life. No secondary camera because internet is mainly effective through BIS or BES and video calls will slow down the data processing, its not efficient and drains the battery. Hence why Iphones for example dont have an inbuilt radio antenna and face time only works Iphone to Iphone.
