BLU Studio 5.0 HD LTE - User Reviews

  • yeah, its great for a while and then stops working. I'm furious

  • have the same problem after using it for a year. Is a piece of crap. not working anymore

  • I am sorry but I'm happy to see that I'm not the only one who's Blu Phone "acts" like this. I never noticed that it was hot prior to not turning on but I did have a lot of issues with just the lights blinking on the bottom but nothing would show on the screen. It got so bad that the only way I could charge my phone was by removing the battery and letting it charge without the battery in for a few minutes then putting the battery back in and charging it and eventually it would start to work. Definitely be cautious though. Once i had to start doing that more frequently, it got to the point where the phone just stopped turning on and wouldn't charge. I had to send it back as it was a lease (I had 2 more payments on it-never again) to see if the phone could be fixed. My phone stopped turning on in late May-around 5.21; I sent it back by the first week of June and to date, I still do not have the phone back. I leased it through Straight Talk Smart Pay. Has anyone else used the lease program that they offer? If so, anyone have to send a cell phone back? I want to know why it takes almost 2 months to return the phone back to Smart Pay, have them fix it or replace and send back to me (again, I still do not have the phone back as of yet)? They also never reached out to me to advise that my cell was received on their end, to let me know what the issue was or when I would be receiving my phone or at least a replacement phone in the 2 months they've had it. I had to reach out to them. I'm very disappointed with this lease program and would not recommend it to anyone.

  • I like my Blu Studio 5.0 HD LTE, but there is an ongoing issue. It gets hot when it charges and the charging port seems to go bad. When I plug it in to charge it will not charge and the bottom just flashes. I have paid one time to have it replaced not sure what to do now. MissyP

  • I have got this phone for about 5 months and during this time, I have had two problems with it. Firstly, to assess the address contact was a problem. It would take like forever before it would come on. Then I had to reset to factory setting and I lost all the contacts. Presently, when I receive a call, the phone keeps ringing but it goes dark and no icon to pick the call. I have tried using the resetting technique of holding on at the same time to the power on and the volume button but nothing happens even after 5 minutes. What do I do please?

  • it has dual sim card slots but the middle one, between the primary sim & the memory card slot doesn't seem to be accessible. there is seems to be something in there with a rubber plug glued to it in that slot. is it usable & if so, how & what kind of sim card goes in there??

  • Why will my phone only charge when it's off

  • How/why did the microphone leave my key pad? Please help... I'm out on vacation. Thank you!

  • I have a blu studios 5.0 and some how i can't setup my voicemail. i looked up how to do it on internet and it said to press and hold 1 to be connected to voicemail and follow instructions. every time I do that it gives me the "BUSY" tone and doesn't connect me. ANY HELP????

  • Nothing

  • i have a blu 5.0 and my wi-fi is not coming on what should i do

  • My mouthpiece is not working how do I get some to replace it

  • Bought this crappy thing new at Best Buy in April. First issue is the volume on the speaker, in the earpiece, and headphone output.....it is way low. Then after 4 months the mic went out. Returned it and they sent me a new phone, which ALSO had a bad mic out of the box!! Sent it back and got a third phone. It's mic is holding up, but the volumes are still way low, and now it is kicking itself off the internet every two minutes and goes back to homescreen. STAY AWAY from this junky thing!!

  • Have a question I have a blue studeo 5.0 LTE it crashes and it Start's up again when the battery gets hot I don't think that's normal that what I noticed I had it less than a week should I retern it and get another one .

  • I had this phone for all most a month and its messing up like it will say things are not working the it will cut off then want cut back on . this is my second phone that did that

  • Loved the phone for the first month, and then the problems started. Soon became very laggy when opening/switching windows, apps, etc.. Battery life suddenly went way downhill. The main problem I have is overheating.. through even normal use the phone will overheat to the point that it shuts itself down. I have to wait until it cools off before I can even connect it to the charger. Would be a great phone without these problems.

  • Try hard resetting (holding power and volume down)

  • is there any other way to reset blu 5.0 back to factory status other than wiping status and booting it because nothing working for me only getting blu screen and had phone less than 5 months

  • The first month that I had this phone it was great but then more and more the phone started lagging and then crashing when apps were opened, the keyboard laggs sometime too and sometimes the phone would just shut down by itself too...do any of you know how to potentially fix this?

  • Price and features of this phone are great and I really like Blu phones! However I purchased this phone in JUL 2015 and by AUG and although it had never been dropped, the microphone became intermittent causing static during calls until the mic stopped working altogether. I RMA'd the phone late AUG and by late SEPT WITH a new phone (noted by the new IMEI number) I experienced the exact same mic static and interoperability problems. Taping the phone "sometimes" seems to fix the mic problem (temporarily), however the tapping may be get a bit aggressive after a while. IMHO this is ether a product design flaw or a persistent quality control problem since several people have reported the same problem. Buyer Beware! Research your phone before buying.

  • Well, throw it out the window then, what are you waiting for. It's not going to fix itself, you gotta do something by yourself besides whining in this forum.

  • It has been 3 days I have been trying to charge my phone it won't go past 2% then powers on then asks me to connect the charcharge which IS already connected

  • Same problem I'm having and I can't change it. HELP

  • I love this phone! I've had it for about 3 months now, and haven't had any problems. The camera is awesome, and just generally a really solid phone for the price

  • My phone keeps blinking a big Red square on. I thought Blu was better than that

  • I've had this phone for a few weeks, and it was alright until this morning when I tried to access option 3 in my camera setting I got a message saying "unfortunately, camera has stopped working". I can assess the other 2 options without interference, but the one to change the flash settings isn't working. Other than that the phone is fine. I just need to figure out what's wrong with my camera so I can change the flash to settings to off

  • Its a good phone..

  • I have been using blu studio 5.5 and 5.0 since last yr in Jamaica and both slim slots work and the APN sets automatically. No issues so far.

  • Maybe you'll have better luck than I did

  • This phone;s value steadily decreases everyday. If it's not one thing, it's the other and it is quite frustrating. I bought this piece of plastic April 30th, and everything went smoothly until mid-June when my phone started to face problems. The vibration stopped working and so did the microphone. It went on for some weeks and it so aggravating. Eventually it started to work again, but now I'm having bigger issues with charging. My phone takes hours to charge and most of the time, it doesn't fully charge. The charging icon has this weird glitch where it's charging really fast but in reality it's moving super slow. Ugh,I want a refund.

  • No

  • Yes it has group messaging

  • No, the BLU 5 HD lte doesn't have notification lights.

  • Is there a way to fix the microphone when it stops working because I currently have this issue and it is quite bothersome

  • I had the same problem with the battery of Blu Life 8 and solved it applying Factory Reset.

  • Decent phone. After the 2nd month I've had it, the vibration and microphone stopped working. It was really annoying. Eventually it started working again. Now, I am having a huge problem with the battery. My phone charges SO slow and barely will work with any other charger. The phone has few duds, but overall it's a decent phone for the price. Beware of the problems you'll run into.

  • Hi Blu sent an update to fix this. Called 'wireless update'

  • I have the 6.0LTE and rely on GPS to get around. But when I use Google Maps, the phone gets very hot and reboots. I have to pull off the highway to wait for it to restart so I don't miss my exit. This happens every 10 to 15 minutes. Otherwise, I love this phone!

  • hi. could someone tell me if it have batteries higher than 2200 for this model? like the studio C has a battery of 3000. or if i buy the studio c battery can fit in this model hd LTE?

  • I get a update, I think it said something for fixing APN crash. I bought a new sim card for use the LTE feature and the APN settings was automic set.

  • How did you set your APN for the 6.0 LTE?

  • is a great cellphone I have it and is really cool form some one who need a great camera and a good cellphone for playing videogames

  • I need HELP ASAP! I have this phone bt i can only catch internet by using wifi... Everytime i try to set up the APN it says "Unfortunately, settings has stopped." i dnt kno wat else to do.

  • Can anyone tell me if this phone is upgradeable to Android L?

  • i bought the phone a month ago and now it is down to 5% charge and will not go above. why would it stop charging? i am currently in europe.

  • lost the head phones that came with the phone. No other head phones will work

  • Today a BLU tech rep told me on the phone that the BLU Advance has a SAR rating of 1.45. I said that was high, and she commented that all BLU phones have about that same rating and said it was due to all the features that it runs. Can this be true?

  • I was very happy with the Blu Studio I bought at the end of this March but now I have a problem that you mentioned, when I use the GPS with Google Maps, after aprox. 20 minutes, it gets really hot , turns off and restart. I would like to know if you had the same trouble and I have to do what you suggests or it was something different?

  • comment that no lte on 6.0 works with AT & T. the 5.0 have lte works with att, tmobile, H20, Staright Talk and Net10.

  • someone asked about the SAR level for BLU phones. I tried to contact them in N. America serveral times, and eventually an email came that the information I requested was not available about the SAR levels. I even tried to contact the FCC the body that regulates the SAR level for different phones, but to no avail. I am still skeptical whether to buy this phone. I recenltly tried the BLU Windows version and I used it with Skype, and the result was outstanding. My friend who has the Windows version is super happy with it. But I am still seeking an answer to the myestery of the BLU SAR levels (Body, and Head.)

  • Dual SIM?

  • I bought one two weeks ago. There is no notification LED.

  • Does anyone know if this phone has a notification light on it?

  • I bought this phone in December in Walmart and returned to Jamaica with it phone worked perfectly up until February it started freezing and by march the phone was doing a continuous boot. When I left it alone it would eventually come on but after continuing to use it the phone freezes. After doing a battery pull and a soft reset I coninued suing the phone thinking crisis averted when the phone simply stopped working. After a hard reset phone came on once would not reconnect my apps then it crashed completely. Now it refuses to move from its boot screen and will not be recognized by the computer. Having this phonein the caribbean is a waste as there is barely any hope of gettign it fixed. It is almost the end of march and I am still without that phone and have resorted to getting me a brand new phone. I like the phone aesthetic wise but apart from that it wasnt properly developed. who wants a phone that doesnt live past three months and bares little hope of ever being resurrected

  • I would go with the blu life one

  • Does it have group messaging capabilities?

  • I got my own APN Set

  • I want to buy a blu phone for my first time, but am choosing between the blu studio 5.0 hd lte n studio 6.0 lte. Can someone please tell me which one is best to use?

  • It's a good phone but it does not have notification lights

  • This phone does not allow you to set Access Point Names so you cannot use mobile data in the Caribbean or anywhere else whre the APN's need to be added or set. There is very little support for this phone from Blu - no software updates, no specific user manual on the website etc. I'd suggest not to buy this if you do not live in the USA.

  • That is my question, too... Will someone with this phone please answer??? Does it have a notification light?

  • Clearly a mid-ranged Android device, I picked up a Blu Studio 5.0 HD LTE becasue I wanted to see if I could get the hang of things on the android side. One week in, I m enjoying the experience and will continue to use this phone unless I find any reason not to. First off, for a phone that costs less than $200, the usability if reasonable. Be warned that some updates are needed out of the box and some settings probably need to be tweeked to each user's liking, but hey, thats why one gets an Android phone right? the Freedom to customise! That said, Ignore the trolls who bash with one liner's... its actiually a pretty decent phone with a lot going for it. PLUSES: Gorilla glass screen is durable and responsive. It comes with a screen protector already installed AND a spare in the box. Speed is adequate for standard use but if you game or use lots of apps simultaneously, you may want a more premium phone. Attractive basic candybar smart phone that's easy to hold, easy to use, not slippery or prone to dropping. Comes with a silicon rubber case that is good enough. LTE and 4G is fast! HD screen is noticeable differnce to the non-HD model. DO NOT CHEAP OUT. Average: UI with KitKat comes with all the pluses and minuses of such Screen color is good as is brightness. Call quality is good and holds signals well in urban areas. NEEDS WORK: the GPS system is a bit sketchy as on Google Maps or WAZE, the fix wouldn't hold until i did a full reset, used GPS Fix apps AND reloaded A-GPS info. This was with all accuracy setting set to high. Battery life is mediocre with standard data use, daily charging for me to be safe. Overall, a great deal for less that $200 out the door, lights attractive and with a little time invested up front when setting it up, this Blu Studio 5.0 HD LTE is a solid unit and so far is working as advertised for me. Hope this helps!

  • the specs sucks

  • Do not buy this phone total piece of garbage. Mine lasted about a week before having major issues. Also very sluggish and the camera is not very good.

  • Why there is no SAR level in USA ? The amount of RF absorbed by the body.

  • Does this phone have notification lights?
