Cat S60 - User Reviews

  • Hi, I have S60 for 1 Monty. It is overheating top and gets into rebooting loop randomly. Is it software problem ?

  • Agreed 1000 percent !👍

  • Be sure not to.drop it water after u have dropped it anywhere on land lol reason been wen u dropped it anywhere it will.open up the seems on the phone so wen u drop it water anytime soon boom good bye with ur phone so back up.info don't be like me! Lost all my information 😑

  • Waste of money never buy these cat phones they after service is rubbish no support no.help wat so ever once the phone is out of warranty throw it in the bin my s60 fell in to the water not even 200 mm deep I took.it out quickly lcd in it's glory please be sure to back up.ur info regularly or u will pull u hair outa ur head been I great support bye bye cat food!

  • For the very first time immersed in water less than one meter deep and water entered in the phone stopping it, it is supposed to resist 5 meters of water column. The switch was in 5 Meter position.

  • I have the Cat s60 for a few months now but the battery does not last. I only get about 5 hours out of a full charge. Please help

  • I have the Landrover Explore, do you have it or have you tried it....? if not, then please hold that opinion to yourself, its Excellent - Levi

  • Ive had the s60 for about 10mos now, I am a welder by trade, so needless to say I am hell on phones, but this beast has shocked me, ive dropped it where you just knew it had to be mangled, nope not a scratch.. ive welded beside it like an idiot and when i realized that it was laying there the only thing that happened was a microscopic pin dot on the screen, this is the most durable phone I've ever seen, i had a s41 before this and my only complaint is that the battery isnt all that great, but coming from the 41 that has a battery like no other it's prob just me being use to the 41 power . All in all its a great phone for a construction worker, pics aren't the greatest but who cares it takes good enough pics , the fact you wont have to worry about screen replacement or phone replacement for a tiny mistake you made trumps a few shy on the pic quality any day... Now i did loose my mesh screen on the front but that hasn't effected my phone one way or the other.. i love this phone. Hands down its built like a tank!

  • I have an S31 now 8 months old . It now goes black and drops out on all calls . other wise it seems OK . But it appears that there is no warranty or service available in Australia . They do not answer emails and the phone number just goes to an un monitored answering service . So an S61 would be a poor choice to replace it .

  • it must be nice if CAT will focus on creating durable phone covers that can withstand high falls, water proof, scratch proof, dust proof and if possible fire proof lol... guess that would be great for them.. they can be partner to all phone company. PS: CAT if you are going to do this please give me a share for your earnings lol

  • It's really indestructible from the outside. But from the inside... rubbish. After 2 years: battery lasts for 12 hours at most, suddenly shuts off at 30%,overheats for no apparent reason, pluging in a headphone shuts it off, taking a photo with flash on shuts it off and finally, after been submerged in 30cm of water for 5 minutes water came in trough the camera and it went crazy. Cool thing, thermocamera really works and you can throw it on the wall as much as you want (and you certainly will). For 600 dollars I thought it would be better built. I bought it for it's resistance, but I'll just buy a mainstream smartphone with a rugged case for a third of the price and be happier.

  • Absolute garbage. I will never buy anything that is called CAT again. During its 2 year warranty period it had already been replaced 3 times under warranty and is again at the service station. It is more like a piece of brick. It is hard to kill, but roughly that is all about it. If you want to use it as a phone to make phone calls you'd better buy almost anything else. After a few updates it starts overheating which kill something inside and then the phone starts rebooting randomly sometimes a dozen times a day. Unless you notice when it is happening you will not be able to receive calls. Insane. I want my money back! As soon as I get this piece of sh.. back I will sell it right away. It gave me so much agro that I just hate to look at it. I know 3 people who have/had the same phone and they had serious issues with them too. I was happy with it for about 2 months. Out of the 22 months since I have had it it spent about 5 months at service stations and it is there again. The money I spent on gas taking it to the service drop off point and back could buy me a decent Nokia or Ericsson. I hope they go out of business soon or send their engineers to a field trip to Kim Jong Un so they can be replaced some new stuff. DO NOT BUY IT!

  • After having it for a year and a half i can say proudly that i'm never getting a CAT phone again. Falls can't kill it, water won't kill it, hell i even welded above it and it just had a few tiny burns on the glass. But everything else... Charger died after 3 months, charger plug cover fell of after 7 months, the plug stopped working even before that, headphone plug stopped working after 9 months, speaker and mic protection mesh came of after a year, android which it uses is absolute trash, 3-6 times UI stops responding, constant signal losses from the first day, FLIR is pretty decent, it missies by a few °C but you can live with that, the camera on the other hand, my god... Is it rugged? Yes and no. It survived falls, for which i belived killed it, i mean the screen survives 200°C metal pieces falling on it, water can't hurt it untill it looses some vital parts (which will fall of), android is pure garbage, tech support is almost non-existent, hardware-vise it full of cheap chinese stuff which won't last for long. Not worth the money that they ask for. I even got a CAT multitool with it which fell apart after a month. Bullitgroup is a joke. Rugfed phones which i had before (and in half of the price they ask) are still in my drawer unharmed (battery problems, but every phone will have them after two years) but this one is going in the garbage can as soon as i find a replacement phone that is actually god for anything else than surviving falls and burns and scratches.

  • The Flir watermark in the thermal images is the deal breaker for me. Apparently the Ugly Flir logo on the top of the device wasn't enough.

  • Love it Try drop it, drown it, mix whi cement survive. So now its my job phone.

  • correct

  • never again.

  • I have had this phone since 2017, the USB cover got bent on the second day I had it, someone pulled out of their yard and I was charging it and it fell on the charger, there is a screen above the Back, Home and Menu button that fell off due to the heat of being in my pocket and the Earphone door also broke off. Upon purchase I was told that there was a 3 year guarantee which promptly I was told imagined it.

  • i bought this device back in 2017. i've been using it everyday. it's nothing but problems. it randomly drains its battery in a few hours. the screen doesn't comeback on when you move the device away from your face during calls. the speakerphone stops working randomly. Bullitt completely dropped support for this phone. the last update did nothing but cause problems. My advice is to stay away from CAT phones. it was supposed to be my reliable rock solid friend during work, but it's more of an annoyance than anything else. big waste of money. also the Cat S61 isn't any better. my friend has it and he says he already hates, had it for less than a year.......

  • Have it for almost 3years. Experienced and confirm all the negatives described. Totally rubbish....

  • I've owned the CAT S60 and didn't have the screen sensitivity issue with this model. However, with the CAT S61 I am now experiencing the same issue! I can't make 1 phone call without my screen going haywire (speaker phone, mute button, hold button, blue-tooth, etc...) all going on if I put my ear too close to the screen. Very annoying to say the least!

  • The dual camera looks a bit funny, idk why though.

  • So I've read a ton of negative reviews about this phone. I've had mine about a year an had some similar issues with battery an such. The software they use for whatever reason i can't disable the google app without having boot loop issues. I did get a program called island to run an now i can freeze an unfreeze any app i want. At work now with wifi on an Bluetooth on all day i can listen to music on my phone an still have 65 to70% battery after 8 hours. I think if their was an upgrade to nougat it would help but with the s61 out i don't see that happening for the s60. All in all i really enjoy the phone.

  • As far as the apps being laggy, are they on internal memory or external? I found putting apps on the internal memory makes everything work well. Hope that helps.

  • If still in warranty just contact support ?

  • Wow... Even the Alcatel OT-708 still worked after being submerged 6ft(on 2 mts switch).

  • After being submerged 6ft(on 2 mts switch) under water my s60 wouldn't work. It has been 1 week my phone wouldn't even charge. It did once but when the battery drained out it wouldn't charge at all of course it wouldn't turn on. By the way my phone didn't even stay under water 5 mins. Anybody with same case? Please help. Such a waste of money.

  • Finally said farewell to my Cat S60, sold for £200 after 2 1/2years of owning. The usb port cap was lost, the speaker grill was deteriorating, and it needed charging partway through the day. On the plus side, it has survived numerous drops, the dinged case being a testament that it is a rugged phone. Using a newer phone (Huawei mate 10 pro), it makes the Cat look really slow, though that relates to technological advances in chips. The Cat couldn't get a 3g signal where the Huawei easily gets 4g. Probably due to the Cats case. It was fun having a different fone. The S61 is too expensive unless work is buying. So it's back to mainstream with a Spigen case. The S60 did its job, but was flawed in build quality and signal strength.

  • Good phone. But itś biggest advantage is very strong antenna. Not like with IPhone or Samsung I can with CAT catch signal in deep forrest or far at sea. I do not have blind spots in house. Other than that - it is really rwealiable strong phone. I have it for a year already

  • i do agree...

  • Thats a network issue. see your carrier

  • Consider xiami ;) why samsung or sony? They are overpriced.

  • Im on my 3rd phone, software failure, boot loops and the speaker mesh. I would not buy a pair of cat socks after this stress. I also have 3 friends with cats and we all regret it. Nearly 600 euros was so much for me to invest and now im stuck, only Sony or Samsung after this disaster of a design.

  • I have a CAT S60 phone and numerous times while talking, the phone just cuts off the other caller. I find putting the phone to my ear to hear the other caller, cuts the other caller off. Very annoying! To solve this issue I now have to leave a space between my ear and the phone. Obviously my ear is touching something on the screen that cancels the other caller. I have never experience this with any other phone...… other people that I know that have the same phone, have the same problem. Can any one suggest how to solve this problem?

  • cat make motors if make motors make phones is easy

  • The user: Works in R&D, Degree in Engineering. This phone is my daily driver =================================================== The good: Thermal is fantastic, any temp issues people have can generally be solved by manually setting the range. By default, range autoscales to fit, so needless to say, if there's only a few degrees of difference between your top and bottom numbers, you might get a strange or boring image. For my use case in electronics, thermal has been flawless at catching all overheating events, even last night we managed to catch and prevent a few components from burning out due to this phone's FLIR. There is an occasional re-calibration lag in live image view, but as far as I'm aware, that's the nature of the technology and is the same for all thermal cameras, it rarely causes any issues. Performance has been good, though admittedly, I don't run heavy resource hog apps so my view may be skewed. Use case for me is electrical and engineering work. Seeing wires or components heat up before they smoke gives enough time to prevent it from becoming an issue and has saved a ton of time/effort/$. Standard camera works well, though I don't use the default App. Sim card opening is very well designed, It's done well for me Unlike many users, I like the default setting of "don't grant usb devices folder access unless I specifically tell you to". From a security point of view, this is ideal. Outside of the things I'm about the specifically mention, the bulk of the outer casing is fairly rugged and well designed. However, the flaws are numerous and glaringly obvious. Programmable button is fantastic. Don't know how I lived without it =================================== The bad: Like many others, after a year the battery went to the abyss. After two years, I now have a one hour battery life and a replacing it requires a bit more work than a standard phone as users don't normally have access to the area and replacement battery purchase options aren't as widespread or varied as they are for other phones. Charging port cap is poor design. Terrible really, first thing to fail and it's a rather important part. Why didn't they just build in wireless charging to solve the issue? Or at the very least, design a durable port. Speaker mesh did not hold up to even normal summer heat. Failed on the second year. Compass/gyroscope is of poor design and phone rarely knows what way it's pointing. The emergency button app is poorly designed and not well thought out. First, the physical button is absurdly hard to get to due to poor port design (nullifying the entire point of the app). Second, the app often does not work as intended as it often will not launch the associated app, and when it does often will not send the message without additional screen prompts. Third, the send alert on timer function does not work unless the app is active in its current state, it will fail if it goes to the background. The feature is absolutely pointless in its current form. ================================== All in all, the issues this phone has should have been caught in the design phase, they're fairly obvious to anyone who has ever used the phone in a real world setting. Not catching these sorts of things reflects a lack of care for their customers as well as a rushed design cycle. I like the idea of this phone, it has a lot of things I very much appreciate, but unless CAT seriously steps up their game, I will not be buying another one of their products nor recommending them to any friends or colleagues. However, should they improve and fix the issues, I would be willing to give them another chance as I feel this product line does have a great potential.

  • Honestly stop why would you even buy this phone knowing fine rightly what was going to happen like Catepillar make shoes not phones so grow up

  • great phone kids love it absolute whip

  • i bought my CAT S60 late last year just less than a year the speaker mesh already gone,,camera not working well...music sounds keep on going down every time.I tried so many times to get help from your CAT customer service but the was a very nice reply all times SORRY WE CANT DO ANYTHING. really after spending all that's cash for a rugged phone i thought my problem is done but got new ones.CAT sorry your just a disappointment n for any one going for CAT phone think twice & look elsewhere

  • Do they have plans to update S60 to Nougat? I heard a lot of heating issues in Marshmallow is resolved in Nougat version

  • Can you say which app it was? I'd love to know if it's one I rely on.

  • if you're having problems with your Cat S60, then try doing a factory reset. backup your photos and important items first. i had lots of problems after the latest software update. then i did a factory reset. after the reset everything was ok with the stock software. this led me discovering that it's an app from the app store that was causing problems. so be careful what you download. you never which app is the culprit. anyways i only put chrome back on my phone with google's text messaging app. no more heavy battery drain and no more problems. hope this helps

  • all fault goes to Snapdragon 617 which is the worst chipset ever madr

  • I've had the CAT S60 for a little over a year now. Its a cool phone, no doubt, but it's far from perfect. Within the first 6 months, the mesh screen at the speaker started loosening until I finally removed it entirely. I thought, OK, I'm over it. Within 10 or so months, I noticed a significant decrease in battery life. When I first bought it, it lasted over 2 days, no problem. Around the 10 month mark, I realised it was barely lasting me a day. I thought, OK, the battery is still better than some other phones. Most recently, I decided to show my friend how cool the phone was by switching it to 5m mode, closing all the ports and submerging it in less than a foot of water for about 30 seconds and unfortunately, it took on water. Now there is condensation in the camera lens and most of the hard buttons don't work anymore. If you wan't am expensive, cool looking phone that is marginally more rugged than other android phones, get the CAT. If you wan't a tough, actually waterproof phone, I'd look elsewhere. I did call CAT support. Turns out their warranty is 1 year, so they could only offer to repair the phone for about 500 dollars. No thanks CAT. Stick to making bulldozers.

  • That was my experience too. Relatively fine the first 6 months. Then issues with battety drain, camera quality and overheating that get worst with time. After a year and a half my phone only last around 6 to 8 hours. CAT s60 is a bad quality phone.

  • You're a big liar, my S60 comes down literally after 10 months. Wifi drain battery for 8 hours, signal is constantly lost on both cards at 4g and gsm. CAT s60 is a cheap Chinese trash phone in "on paper" hard case.

  • I have my CAT S60 less than a year ago: 1) Poor quality of photos 2) the operating system restarts at all times 3) many times the microphone is turned off when I have calls 4) the speaker's mesh fell off, so there is no longer a factory guarantee of waterproof. I am very dissapointed of this "rugged" phone.

  • Has basically fallen apart after less than 2 years, usb and headphones flaps have both lost their covers, front speaker grill has peeled off, headphone socket now unreliable and sound keeps dropping (have tried with 3 sets of headphones). GPS is also normally upside down, or flips 180 Def every couple of seconds. Wouldn't buy again.

  • For a flagman phone that is marketed as rugged, the build quality is unacceptable. USB charging port lastic cover fell off after two month use. After 1.5 year use the front speaker grill glued off and got lost, the textile strip underneath also glued off, leaving speaker ports exposed open. Tried to resolve it through customer service and repair shops - the attitude was - "we can't do anything, sorry". The camera specs are okay, but picture quality, unless in bright sunlight, is abismal. Either they have some strange sh*t qualty sensor, or the alhorythm running it is coded by amateurs. Also if running any processor-heavy app, i.e. photo stiching or just any graphically demanding app, the phone gets so ho to the level it is uncomfortable to hold. The only good thing about it still remains the thermal camera, but considering all the flaws, for the asking price, in retrospect, it is was madness to buy one. I will never buy another CAT phone. What a joke.

  • My cat S60 is excellent as FLIR, phone, camera etc. But not with social apps FB, Snapchat and Messenger. Does anyone have a solution how to make S60 not to lag or become non-responsive with these apps?

  • if You drop a phone with high G:s you will dent the "gyroskop" on the phone and you will loose your gps signal and so( on a nanoscale level)

  • Hi.my cat s60 drope in water and death..it has happened to me exactly .i will never buy a cat phone.i am in iran ,we have never service for cats hear.

  • News about Cat S61?

  • Hi, someone knows something about when can I buy a S61? Im waiting but I can't find news about It. I have read a lot of news about the Barcelona mobile congress but nothing about dates.

  • I own a S60 for 1,5 yrs and I love it. It is so robust and I'm so confident of this that i deliberately throw and kick it around on floors and walls. It never fails to amaze me. Even taking pictures in a bubble bath is no problem - under the water that is. Just awesome! 3 minor deficits: picture quality, the need to open covers for charging and related: why no wireless charging for a phone like this???

  • Hi everyone I have Cat S60 but it's charging with quick charger 2 hours 30 minutes it is normal o not? And on the screen not writing quick charging Aukey Qualcomm quick charger 3.0 AC 100-240V 50/60hz 0.9A ( max) Out put aipower & Qualcomm quick charge 3.0 DC 3.6v -6.5 /3a , 6.5v-9v/2a, 9v-12v/1.5a & 19.5 w (max)

  • S61 has just been announced :)

  • S31 and S41 came out a little over two years after the older models, by that logic we might see the S61 in autumn.

  • This has been out for a year now. Any idea when and if a new s60 (s61?) is coming?

  • does any one have a prob with his app on the cat s60 the fb and snapchat are closing each time I use them

  • yes. The Flir Tools app does that exactly

  • Yes all in the app :)

  • Hi, could you tell about the camera problems please? Thanks

  • Hi.. Can one extract and edit the Thermals images and generate thermal reports o

  • Uninstall some programs !

  • Yes, you can.

  • Battery is down after one year.

  • I think I'm going to buy this great awesome phone immediately. Definetely much better looking and much better built and quality than the Samsung Galaxy 8, Note 8 or iPhone 10, 10X. Samsung and iPhones are crappy, look so plain and old-fashioned and gets spoilt once drop or immersed in water or just touching water. A lot of youngsters like the CAT S60 smartphone too, people including family members and friends. Modern design and nice phone. Other brands worth noting are Rugged Smartphones from Sonim, Conquest and Land Rover.

  • My S60 will not connect to my hands free in the Car after over 18 months of been connected both the phone and car Bluetooth recognize each other but will not connect, just come up with connect manually ???

  • Do it. Using a year. Almost perfect phone.

  • I posted my question only in this forum but nobody seems to know...

  • Have you had any answer to this in any other forums? I'm wanting to buy either this or the Google Pixel 2. Leaning towards this but I'm afraid of an upgraded phone becoming available in 2 months.

  • Any news on a S61? The S60 is still unique due to its FLIR cam but also almost two years old and could use an upgrade to the camera. Is it worth to wait for it successor or buy a S60?

  • You have to remember the email address and password you have sync on the phone. If you have sync your Gmail address to the phone and you don't remember the password go to Gmail.com type in your email then click forgot password it will send a verification code to the number or secondary email that is set on the account.

  • you are maybe very sensitive - like extrasense :D

  • battery is down after 1 year an six month,

  • Hi I by a cat S60 I reset the phone and now I try to pass the google acccount and we don't let me go true after a put my email and password is appear the phone need a sync any help please thank you

  • If you swipe down from the top of the screen and click the battery icon you can see what uses up your power.. could be an app doing this..

  • Thx, I bought s60 for about a month, and now its battery drains fast, could anyone tell me that what may be the root of problem ? Battery , boards, or etc.

  • Have cat s60 for 6 months now - reality check - it was already in warranty - battery issue -got very hot while discharge and charging, fast charge stopped working.. after warranty replacement battery works fine, but today mesh over the loudspeaker came off. phone got much louder but i fear dust damage. Camera is crap. everything else is good enough. i have dropped it many MANY times no worries about mechanical damage i t holds as promised. flir is great for firefighter work, water resistant is good for me (havent submerged fully just splash water thou)

  • Overall this is a good phone, impressive IR cam and superb battery life. However it is suck on roaming and data roaming, it is unable to start the data roaming automatically even it was enabled. Need to reboot the phone to make it work @_@. Beside this, you will get an annoying notification said "No service - Selected network (xyz) unavailable" when the 3G roaming SIM is disabled, this shouldn't happen.

  • cons: the camera camera is bad. pros: everything else. great battery life, waterproof to 5 meters, touchscreen works with gloves and underwater, the screen doesn't get scratches even when dropped on small stones, and the thermal camera is lots of fun, the phone has no other weaknesses than the cons listed above. also great customer support (i needed a new screen protector, the customer support just aked where i lived, then they express-mailed me 1, for free - also a free screen protector is in the package) (lastly, personally i would prefer a larger screen, but that's just me)

  • I have one issue, touchscreen is very sensitive.Touchscreen/input settings set to minimum.Any idea? But otherwise it good phone, lots of fun with flir

  • Have mine for an year now. Overall a good phone, but the camera is real shayt! Lots of fun with the IR cam though!

  • got this S now for 1 year. I want an other phone. Camera is bad! The picts arte not sharp. Cat send you back and forward. Bluetooth does not work fine with earpeace or carkit if wifi is on!

  • The S60 is 3 generations newer than the B15, you will not be dissapointed..

  • I've had a b15 for about four years, as I am working in harsh environments, I am really happy that I bought this phone, and now I am going to buy s60, however I would like to know that whether the RAM of s60 is good enough to support apps or not. This was the disaster of b15 with 512

  • Battery IS REMOVABLE> Just peel off backside fiber /plastic/ cover very slow and carefully /from the bottom to the top/, you would see then black metal cover lid with a few bolts.Unscrew them, open the lid carefully, and you would see the battery inside. Then you can easily remove and change the battery. After that - put cover on,screw the bolts, and just put on carefully self sticking black plastic cover..That is all..

  • Puss phone fell in water and got damaged

  • Great phone for work untill batery died right when I needed it the most. Went abroad and couldn't find an approved repairer so I took it to a local shop to try get out some stuff I had in it for work that's how I found out it was the batery faulty.Of course warranty is voided so back home I am offered to buy another in exchange by the repairer who didn't bother to check the cause even after I told them. Asked CAT to sell me a new battery so I can fix it myself and they keep on sending me to the repairer who didn't bother in the first instance to check the problem...They said they don't comercialise the parts and only the'approved centres' can get them. Now I'm stuck with a phone and no battery with everything I have for work on it. If anyone can point me a way to purchase a batery even a shitty one that lasts an hour but works please let me know. Worst investment I have done. Looks good but that's preety much of it.

  • Mine is waterproof I lost it in 0.5 meters of sea water for 15mins, works fine, made a call on it when it was still wet. Did not even have to rinse with fresh water just used speaker dry ap. Phone works fine, typing this message on it right now

  • They claim it's IP68 and MIL 810G certified, says it right there in the specs, so it should be water AND salt proof; no reason to die from immersion, even in salt water - definitely not at 0.5 meters...

  • The best practical smartphone I have seen. For a person who works that is must have.

  • Best phone. Looks great and cool screen, waterproof shock proof, capabilities are endless, imaging is fast and really one of the best, focusing and analytics best that money can buy, up to point. I will never use any other phone it just given me so much more.

  • All most all marine products must be rinsed in fresh water after even exposure to salt water for the same reason

  • I guess this is the worst phone i have ever had,I bought cat S60 in may 2017,I have taken it for repairs more than 6 times,it gets hot when u make long calls, when u charge it get very hot, sometimes it goes blank, nothing apears on the screen,I am so disappointed with cat S60,& i hope cat can improve in there subsequent releases.S60 is a disaster!

  • This phone sucks! The first phone camera died in 3 months. They sent a new one which lost ability to connect to the cell network. 4 months and two returns later same thing. Both returns came back from service with a note saying "nothing wrong"! Super frustrating. Cat ripped me off! They should stick to heavy equipment.

  • Awesome phone my galaxy s8 is at bay now. Tired of changing glass bodies of pussyphones. This one does it all. No problems whatsoever with waterproofing. I went snorkeling with it just to test it and dove beyond 5 m for sure and nothing happened- the phone as new. Comprehensive layout is another thing. I love the solid feel of it and the way it performs in conditions I wouldn't use a phone normally in.

  • It says waterproof, NOT sea water proof, the salt water will provoke corrosion!!! You need to rinse it with water after!!!

  • I have Cat S 60 from March 2017. After immersion in 0.5m sea water, phone stop working. Power button is stuck in off position. There is repair service in Serbia "Begram" and they told me that phone is dead, i can not be repaired. So i contact Cat support, and they sad to me that i have to contact my retailer. So, the phone is now in Hungary. 20 days. The phone is good but it's NOT WATERPROOF.

  • I have had the s60 for 8 months. This is not a light weight game playing picture taking phone. It's a durable reliable phone. I've gone swimming with it in my pocket, I've dropped it on construction sites. It does what it's supposed to. Thermal is accurate. It's worth the money in my opinion

  • It is very good phone !!!

  • Ok, update. Got the S60 back today, they replaced the swolen battery under warranty, and i got it back! btw, i never tested the water story, but overall this is a good phone. Can use it for 4 days one one load, but i removed most apps. I use it just for the basic stuff like phone, mail, WA, sms. No games, of movies or other stuff.

  • Dropped my S60 last week from my pocket while descending the Col d'Izoard in the French Alps. Was doing about 65kph at the time. Cycled back up to pick up the bits, amazed to find it completely un-damaged, except for a tiny scuff on one corner. If you want cutting edge game playing look elsewhere. If you want something reliable that can survive knocks and splashes that would destroy other phones, get an S60. Simples

  • I put it 10cm in wather and wather come in even after I carefully close all covers, I have luck and I get new one after 2 months of struggle, sell it immediately and no more CAT phones in my pocket...

  • I have cat B25 for the last three good Years, Now I want to move to Cat S60, now how to get it ? I want to know more about CAT phone , from witch country.

  • not really. average of 10,7 C. more a defect batt. After contacting CAT support, It is in repair now. il keep yáll updated if this is indeed a warranty covered issue or not :)

  • You probably live in a cold place. This means the battery expands slowly. Basic science

  • Got mine on 29-07-16, and slowly the battery seems to grow & grow &grow. The backside is almost loose at the moment, the battery is pushing it off. You also see the effect of the growing batt on the display, a 1 inch darker part is appearing. mailed CAT 2 weeks ag, and got a reply for detailing the problem, and i'll guess a RMA process will start?

  • that's because the cat s60 is meant for heat related workers

  • I was happy with my S60 phone. I bought it because I work in electrical services that I have to go by boat so I thought perfect! Don't drop it in any water, THEY won't cover it. Some warranty !

  • The worst phone i have ever purchased , crap camera, crap flir compared to the i phone, apps delete themselves , sound quality rubbish, alarms turn themselves down , for such s stupid amount of money this is terrible , do not purchase a Cat S60

  • Hi I have a problem with my new cat s 60. You can not call me the first time. you should try two or three times. is there a solution for that issue?

  • One of the best phones I ever had. I read about all kind od problems in comments submited by other users but I did not have any. Few really minor issues were fixed with system update. One thing I dont like - lids. One that covers battery charger is slightly bended already beacuse I open it every two days for charging (I have the phone for 8 months now), maybe it will fall off completely in the future. Accessories for this model are not easy to find also. But overall I am satisfied with cat60. Battery life, performance, stability, both cameras, looks good, feels good in hand... I still didnt "test" it in water and I dont plan to,if it happens...ok. Droped it several times ( not intentionally :) from 2mtrs height - nothing except barely visible scratch on silver protective surface. It was worth the money.

  • I don't even remember when was my phone was dropped, but I am sure it will never higher than 2m high. I never realized it was broken in a very small part too difficult to be noticed. It was my first time to test the phone with water proof in the pool. It was quite unfortunated for me, my phone drowned in the pool. Now it gone. I used it not more than 7 months. So font believe that this phone can tolerant for drop at less than 2m high.

  • So maybe you should explain why people should not buy the Cat S60 and why you consider yourself lost your money??

  • Who is they? your reseller or Cat phones service?

  • I was happy with my S60 phone. I bought it because I work in electrical services that I have to go by boat so I thought perfect! Don't drop it in any water, THEY won't cover it. Some warranty !

  • I have the S60 too and have had all the problems with incoming calls from the beginning. I found one app from google play - Network Signal Refresher Pro. I holds my phone in network as I live in bad network area and it keeps me for others available. Give a try :)

  • I have this phone over 3 months and it is the best i ever have.Water and mud ressistant.Durable and powerful phone.I like it.You should buy this phone.

  • The phone has been brilliant for me while installing solar electric, with connector and battery heat related issues showing up on the thermal camera. I've dropped this a few times without any worries. Its not a bad looking phone either, a bit weighty but I like the solidness and overall toughness that instills. Would recommend this phone.

  • Have it for 4 months now the S60 is the best phone ever owned since the early GSM days. Pros : Battery life (laid down powerbanks)- processor speed - responsiveness - look - ruggedness - Flir cam (covers far beyond the advertised distance)- strong flashlight - Never freezes - Excellent bundled charger (2000 mah) - The only aspect in which the S60 does not excel are the average stills and slightly above average videos if compared to current smartphones cams. But this is a rugged phone with a FLIR cam Cons : none except that accessories are scarce to find where I live. I spend most of my time outdoors so the S60 is a dream phone for me. Highly recommended

  • Are they coming out with something new? How awful it can't be upgraded.. Rats!

  • So I've had this S60 cat phone for a couple of months now. Working perfectly......? Maybe cause I haven't put it in water or thrown it around? Think that is what people try first......Nothing is indestructible when it comes to using it everyday. Think the phone looks awesome. Had a Samsung Note 4 but had to repair it twice from dropping it less than 0.5m high. So the costs on repairs were crazy. So far so good. I would definitely go ahead and recommend a Cat S60. If I have any issues I will come back here and keep you updated.

  • From their website they do NOT plan to upgrade to Android 7.0

  • I use a samsung galaxy s7 with an OtterBox case

  • Terrible! Worst of all, CAT support SA does not even respond to complaints! Stay away! CAT is not worth the name "phone". Scam will suit them much better! For now " rugged" does not feature in my vocabulary. Rather go for trusted brands such as Samsung, Sony or even Huawei. I am trying to resell my Cat to Cat Phones SA but they are not even interested! Think this one will end up as a toy for my grandchild. Sad part is the phone is only five months old. So much for guarantee!

  • Do not buy cat. Phones. You will lose you hard earned amount . I lost my money.

  • I needed a phone with a good battery life. The CAT S 60 has amazing battery power. My Samsung S 6 could last only up until 12h00 daily on a full charge. I swopped my son who just acquired the new CAT. What a disgrace of a phone! Poor picture quality! Poor reception! Poor sound quality! But amazing battery! Haha! Be careful what you wish for! So disappointed!

  • I got my s60 as soon as it came out, bought my mine Dec 2016. But it has let me down big time. Network very weak, having trouble when communicating to someone. Its "hello, hello, hello........ A small protection mesh for the speaker came out. Picture quality is poor. I have like the fast charge on it though. I would not try any CAT phone and I can not recommend it in any sense. Unsatisfied.

  • I have had this device for about 6 months, functionally the android app is working as it should... the body has some simple basic flaws... the MINI USB port cove has a piece of metal which fall off (especially because this lid will be open daily to charge). The mic par has a net which just fall off the other day. So the intention of building a robust phone was achieved by they forgot very basic stuff which makes it unpleasent to own the device. I would give it 2 stars (**)

  • Cat S60 was a good phone. Until one day (a few month after the purchase), after an Android update, the headset suddenly stopped working. It only recovers its function when I run the drying app. During the call it works fine, but when communication ends, it stops working. And so on. I have contacted Cat technical service, but the usual maneuvers to recover the functions (hard reset, etc.) did not work. Having no technical support in Argentina, they concluded their intervention and regretted the fact. What could not a hard blow was achieved by a simple operating system update. I do not recommend here it even though it is highly praised by my colleagues when viewing their technical characteristics.

  • I ordered this phone as soon as it was announced, and i was waiting for it for several month, but after that I had very bad experience. 1. Battery hold only 6-8 hours. 2. Fast charge don't charge it as should be 3. Thermal camera is just for play, temperature is jumping 4. Camera is terrible, even impossible to take picture in fluorescent light. 5. Most important is that GSM, BT and GPS network is disappearing whenever it wants. I already have the forth S60, because first three was changed as factory defect, but this forth is the same. First 4 problems sucks but the last is deadly, this phone is too expensive to have such problems. Worst that I can't find any other phone to change this with my need of at least: Dual sim; IP IP68 with drop-of; Gorilla3; 8 cores; 3 Ram; primary camera with flash 12mp; wi-fi; BT; GPS; and FM radio any suggestions?

  • In the mobile market, i find a lot protected smartphone, but most of them have the same design, and has a fairly simple screens. The company Aermoo decided that a secure mobile device can also be strong, and introduced the world’s first “smartphone-SUV” with edge-to-edge display called Aermoo. The look of this smartphone already shows where it is headed: to become an off-road beast. As such: in addition to resisting water and water splashes at 1 meter depth for up to half an hour, its IP-68 specification gives it protection against dust. And its shockproof design will make it hold even in the fall. Aermoo come with 5.2 inch LCD IPS screen, Processor MediaTek MT6757, 5,000 mAh battery, Android 7.0 Nougat, Shockproof design and elements with IP-68 certification, NFC, Rear camera capable of taking 84 Megapixel photos. so i think Aermoo is Best choice for me.

  • Coming of small protection mesh from speaker under warranty they send 2 camera not impressive but this is working phone not gay phone

  • I will prefer to buy Aermoo M1 !! ITS 84 MP CAMERA has amazed me . Imagine the level of photography that one can attain by this smartphone plus it is a waterproof as its IP68 certification ensures the total protection against dust and water and it has nougat (7.0 )..its huge battery of 5000 mah facilitate in busy life ...it will worth your money so give it a try :)

  • I bought one in USA for the rest of the world versión. This is total unclear nominación, Really is EU versión ( and not Rest of the World Version) and American Version ( Inclusive Sudamerica ). Please take care and control the antenas previous to decide. Great machine CAT S 60

  • Hello Carlos. Can you telm me more about this phone? Thanks, AHS

  • I just bought the phone and i am already having troubles, or I am doing something wrong. It had around 48% battery when it started, after a software update and some app updates it went down to 30% and heat up like a toaster. Had to turn it off to cool down. Is this normal?

  • I experienced similar issues with Wi-Fi;with battery life with restarting and updating. Most frustrating was the 2nd SIM slot not working. On inquiring I was told that this phone needed a software downgrade (non service provider specific) if I want to use the second SIM option which to me was vital. In South Africa Rugged phones in Fourways did this as the Cat agent, and at no charge. To my surprise this has solved just about every issue I have ever had with the phone and it's really a pleasure dealing with Ruggedphones.co.za. The Android version is v.6 Generic and the phone's own firmware get changed. I hope this helps some people.

  • I have had the exact problem. Vodocom has had my phone twice and refuse to acknowledge any fault or replace it. Not sure what to do but I want to scream.

  • My Speaker mash covers come off to. After two months of having this phone. I wish I got a Samsung or sony.

  • My phone is allso restarting by him self. I try turn off internet and then is ok! That means Internet (wi fii and 3g/4g) is problem

  • Hi Johann My battery lasts 3 days, have you contacted Ruggered Phones Or Cat SA they told me there is a 2 year warranty Mike C

  • Thought that the S60 was a rugged phone. After less than 8 months the phone was falling to pieces. Charging cover fell off. Speaker mash covers came off. Power and sound buttons not working. Very disappointed.

  • Good day, I bought a new phone in January 2017 from vodacom and with full battery the phone completely switched off during the night. The only way to get it restarted was to push the reset button at the back with a pin. Initially I thought it was some kind of setting or app but after it happened several times, I took it back to Vodacom South Africa in Johannesburg. They did a software upgrade and could not find any other faults. I received the phone and while setting up all my apps and settings it informed that updates are available. Don’t know how that is possible but I proceed with the updates for more than 500 FIVE HUNDRED MEGS.!!!!! While I was busy with settings and update, the phone switched off but I only had to put the pin in and it worked. That night it went dead again and I took it back to Vodacom. Today after 11 days they informed me that they could not find any problems. I wanted them to contact Cat and discus this problem but apparently they did not. Please can you help me. The phone is under guarantee and I do not want to suffer like this. What can be done. Regards Johann Lubbe

  • Had the same problem . Got un inside TVE water les than 1 meter and when I went out muy phone had turned off. The frontal and back camera got condensation of water inside and now muy phone has got into a bootloop problem. When I try yo turn it on a message of battery temperature too high appears and it keeps turning off. Bad luck I bught this phone. My initial expectations of the phone are gone nos.

  • Now is 6.01 Enebody for sugestion how to install old software android 6.0???

  • Android is 6.01

  • No use by keeping it in rice, I tried it and failed. you have used in water for 10 mins but my phone turned into scrape by using in water for only one minute and that too at half meter water depth. I can understand condition of your phone. send your contact details.

  • My Cat S60 is restarting 5 or 6 time in 24 hur, after upgread new software. How i can instal old software

  • Me to had a same experience with my Cat s60 phone. tried 10 mins in swimming pool... took few photos ... kept aside after that... later after 10mins checked the phone to see the pics taken ...bad luck.. dead screen... blue light blinked for some.. then red one.. thereafter after two hours the screen got on by itself but the phone was not restarting... now its 3 days in rice pack..still their is moisture in the camera glass... Cat S60 is not water proof i think... is ther any service centre in India..

  • Can anyone compare the speaker to this phone with another phone? Too bad that the S60 has the loudest speaker in the world of mobile phones

  • sell the new one

  • theres no gaps ive send it to cat and they confirmed that the phone did blow and it was a factory fault so they send me a new s60 phone but now the new one also have problems its restarting by itself goes on and off sometimes dont wanna go on again and have to reset it come on cat thought this phones is rugged

  • I love this Phone. Here is why. I come from high end phones since the pocket PC phone edition. My last phone was a note 4 witch I hung on to until the end. I miss my IR blaster... RIP. Since I'm in electrical construction I thought I would try this one out after breaking two screens with in a month of each other. First thing I did was get it wet... It detected the water and worked fine after that. Its a heavy phone and a bit slippery. A week after receiving it I left for Thailand for a month. I was hard on the phone. swimming pools, ocean water, sand from the beach, doped many times. I took it snorkeling at choral Island and filmed my whole family for hours and it still had battery life when we got back to the main land. I have no screen protector even after that there is no scratches. The glass is tough. Today I was on a blue tooth call for over 72 min straight and I still have 75% battery after I got home. Often I only need to charge it every other day. I read all the negative reviews here and can only assume they got a lemon. Or a knock off. I do wish the second sim slot worked. Hardware interfaces by the way are not always fully integrated in to the chips on the main board. Many components on a cell phone are not built specifically for that device. The Sim and SD hardware apparently were sourced from else ware to save cost. That being said the durability, battery life and Cool factor far exceed any draw backs. I get lots of people checking out my phone. I hope they come out with a larger screen in the future and an IR blaster and while there at it a USB C connection would be cool. More utility for the working class!!!

  • This is the worst phone I had, went from Sony and is very dissatisfied!!!

  • Heya Folks - just got 48 hours ago this beautiful S60 Anyone please help in how to remove the Google white bar from the main screen ? I wen to Settings/Google app / but the ''Disable'' is not active (only the Force Stop is active) Thank you anticipated

  • Have had this phone for 3months now bought it for my husband to start the summer with a decent phone. Footing a big bill for it im not impressed that it is not staying on. It has yet to see a real rugged construction lufe as the season begins end of this month heavy. The ohone shut off the first time and we reset the battery an voila it worked..... For a week.... Then it shut of again an could only be used while plugged in.... Now not at all. Very frustrated and unsure what to do. I read some reviews on the next lowest model and they are not good. My hubby needs a good phone. An up until thos problem this phone has been a godsent and he loves it but is very upset. It is a business phone for him and he uses it for emailing and pictures and keeping in touch with clients. Thats it... Whats weong with it and how to get fixed. If cat sends a new phone i dont want the same problem but am concernwd it will happen again :( not sure a downgrade will be nearly as impressive as this phone has been until now...

  • Nougat to be released?

  • works great, stream internet radio all day and youtube on lunch and still has 49% battery. FLIr camera is ok for close diagnostics and moderate temperature gradients, nowhere near the performance of it's $2500 bigger brother though. Can watch footsteps on carpet or electrical wires getting warm under load (sensitivity is about 0.5C) and the resolution isn't the greatest so outdoor shots past 20ft (like seeing deer in the dark) doesn't work all that well. Wife tested the phone in the washer for 15min, it survived just fine. The sides of the phone are textured aluminum and with dry skin is a challenge to hold on to. Overall I like this phone, it's a niche phone and kinda thick for some pockets, but perfect for makers and engineers. The OS allows you to "Extend" the internal memory onto the SD card as long as its a class 10 speed (I have a 32GB card in there now, might support a 64/128GB card as long as its a class 10)

  • Dear Bob! I agree with you that that my phone has a problem, the problem is inbuilt and it was damaged because it was not waterproof. Other wise it wont get damaged within 30 seconds and at 200 mm water depth, this was the first time I used in water. When I contacted CAT support they just replied me saying that they dont have official service center in India, and now its worthless scrap.

  • Did they have you send it to Premiere Eurocom Limited for warranty replacement?

  • Any of you came right

  • Hi I'm also trying to work with second sim. Nothing if i insert sim in second slot it says no sim. What are we paying all the money for.

  • i use this phone in the sea and pool 2-3 meters in the water never had problem. for me is the best phone i ever had. many drops down and only some scrathes.

  • Hi, seems your phone has a problem, so rather than saying its not waterproof you might want to contact their support.

  • this phone is not water proof, use it in water for even 30 seconds and its gone. I used it for video recording for few seconds at 200mm depth, and immediately got damaged. now its dumped in dry garbage bin. A "reputed' company can also fool people easily What company says is all farce. I made a mistake in believing them and learnt a good lesson. If people say its water proof, than its lie or they simply believe false specifications.

  • Have you tried to wipe the phone and reinstall all app, most time that is enough to get rid of the problem

  • I purchased my Cat S60 November 2016. I noticed when I use the phone for viewing videos or playing games or just on it for some time on the internet, the area where the camera is gets very hot. I have to stop using it so it can cool down. Is this normal as other previous phones(not a Cat phone model) I had did not do this. Is it a concern, should I send it for assement. Also the silver cover for my charging terminal fell off and is lost, only the black rubber is left. Is there a guarantee on this as it is not even 6 months old.

  • My cat S60 use to go off on it own, what do I do?

  • Your story has a lot if gaps in.

  • 2 days

  • How do you plan to sell it if it already exploded?

  • If CAT themselves told you that you cannot enable the second sim then you probably should NEVER: 1. Customize Firmware based on the Manufacturing Firmware 2. Open the Phone and short some pins (if necessary) to update Firmware 3. - and Ever Customize Firmware based on the Manufacturing Firmware

  • wait till it explodes

  • changed from sony to cat really impressed cat delivers very cool phone

  • Does anyone know how to enable second sim? I bought US variant and it only comes with one IMEI and even though there are 2 slim slots, CAT told me i can never use second sim on this phone. Any clue?

  • hi i got the s60 about 2 months ago for my business but phone get very hot so then ill switch it off for a while but now on the 5 th of march while i where asleep the phone exploded my wife woke me up to say that im bleeding got 9 stitches in my finger so i just want to ask cat if they really think that cat phones are so great i took the phone in so yes im defenitly going to sell it as im not to keen with the exploding thing even the charger is blown apart i hope someone at cat can give me feedback on this thank you

  • Your reseller is the one at fault here, they need to send it in for repair, you cant blame cat for that..

  • Go to settings - more - mobile networks - select the SIM card and the preferred data network

  • Would also recommend them. Great service

  • The battery: Cat 60 I will grab mine soon!

  • The phone feels solid and the thermal imaging seems pretty accurate, but that is where it ends. The phone is buggy and feel more like a refined prototype than a production ready phone. I have had various app crashes and a few restarts. When watching YouTube videos through the app, the video and audio goes out of sync. I have also not been able to connect to 4g networks. If you are used to a flagship phone, the CAT's screen quality and touch responsiveness will be something to get used to. Cat and the guys who built the phone for them will need to get their act together and put out some updates!

  • I had already contacted reseller, they say it is international version without warranty. The question is how a "reputed" company called Caterpillar Inc. misled consumers saying CAT S60 is 5meters water proof but the fact is, if it is immersed in 200 mm depth of fresh water for 1 minute the phone is completely damaged. This not cheating, people should be aware not to get misled from :reputed" company

  • Has anybody had the SIM cover spring open after a small drop ? If so which version of the latch have you ? I have this one, which has opened: Has anybody got this type which looks more secure ? :

  • you should go back to your reseller, they should be able to help you..

  • I am from India and I brought this CAT S60 in Nov. 2016 and two days back, first time i used it under fresh water for video recording for just 1 minute, water depth was only half meter, after taking it out all buttons are not working, screen was 'ON" for some time with water marks under it, now the screen is also not working, phone is water damaged now, like a scrape unusable set. I wrote to CAT company and they say since they dont have any official presence in India they cant do any thing. Can any one guide me to repair my phone. Since CAT company and its product are all reputed, I made a biggest mistake in believing them that CAT s60 is water proof for up to 5meters depth, and now I am paying for it.

  • Phone is overall good. Responds fast. Inspite of size and weight, it´s easy to operate single handed (that of course will depend on your hand size). The cons I found so far: Overheats while engaging location and 3g/4g signal is low sometimes causing screen cover (the plastic film) to tend to peal off but nothing to worry. Also the usb charging tab and headphone tab seem to be a little fragile, so I don´t know how long will they last, specially the usb connector wich is the one I use the most. Battery last reasonably well all day long, but I found it will depend on the strength of 4g signal. Today I had an awkward issue, when the phone all of a sudden shut down. No power key would work. Only a red light tilting while connecting the charger. I read somewere that you should press the reset button (below the sd /sim card slot tab) which happens to be a tiny little hole, where you need to insert something thin and strong enough not to be bent, but also to press the reset button (i.g. those gadgets that come with Iphone to remove the sim) ; had to press it once and debug mode started, i selected reboot now and the phone boot again and was able to use it as nothing had happened, so far so good. Hope this won´t repeat. All in all great phone.

  • Camera is useless, fancy numbers in specs but the pictures look like treated with noise and blur filters. In broad daylight. Battery life is unreliable, software bugs can drain it in a day. Nice build though.

  • When upgrade to GET nougat 7.1.1 ?

  • Cernotech in Fourways, JHB. Trading as Rugged pPones. Takes about 30 minutes at walk in service counter. They are great!

  • my phone just switch off and will not switch on again. red light flicking. cat s60

  • Hello. May I ask who you contacted to do the firmware change so that the dual sim functionality worked and how long did it take? Vodacom does the same and disables the second sim.

  • That's easy the CAT, has andriod 6.0... and better specs.

  • I have my Cat S60, since 11/11/16. My problem is that, recently I can not connect to WIFI on the hot spots like I used to. Error message, obtaining IP. And the other thing, the phone becomes so hot on the back whilst you are busy typing messages. The last one, my battery needs to be charged maybe twice a day. I am a bit busy with calls in the day, but late have to charge again.

  • My battery can last two days with normal use, three days with conservative use (some phone use, Google Maps). As with most phones, WiFi causes most battery drain (over 40% in my case). See this S60 review for more info:

  • i must upgrade now and i want to choose between cat s 60 and conquest s 8 can anybody advise plse

  • Afraid to say that you're out of luck. The South African networks use the 900 MHz and 2100 MHz 3G bands, which are not supported by the North American version of the S60.

  • Just got my s60 on contract from MTN and my second SIM slot is not working. Do you think. They will activate it?

  • I upgraded my s60 with an automatic upgrade of 600 megs and now the thermal camera has completely deregulated and the camera full of black scratches. What do I do.

  • I received a cat S60 from the us . I'm in south Africa . I'm at wits end on the data connection . This handset gives me 2G edge only. I have tried all networks still the irritating E remains. I took it to my network provider and they were completely baffled. everything else works perfectly save for 3G 4G pliz help !!!!

  • hi i use the same phone and my battery for 3 days maybe more sometimes 24hr use. do you charge your phone with original charger? i had it charge with samsung charger sometimes and the battery dont last the same. also check the software version maybe need to upgrade.

  • i wanna buy it , but a friend has your problem , only works on 2g, did you have any solution for your problem ?

  • After my few months of ownership, the bad points are: 1) Had a few lockups that require the reset button to be pressed. No major but could miss an important call or not have a pin handy 2) Sometimes loses the FLIR and needs to reboot 3) The usb cover has fallen off. Still seals with the rubber tab. I'm not sending it away for a month for one to be glued back on. 4) The mesh cover over the mic is getting pushed in and the mesh coming unstuck at the top edge above the mic hole. Will probably need to reglue that sometime when it gets worse. Other than those niggles it's pretty good. It's survived being wet on the livery washing down horses and doing waters, being dropped onto concrete, getting wet in the rain, and me falling very hard off a horse in canter. I see loads of iPhones with cracked screens at the livery so I think the robustness is pretty good. Just let down slightly by a couple of bits coming loose. I would definitely buy another if given a choice. (oh, and UK second sim works perfectly on 2G)

  • Lucky man

  • Could someone please post the first 8 digits of your IMEI number. My carrier requires it to check if the service will work. Thanks in advance, Mackenzie

  • In terms of positional accuracy GPS is slightly better than GLONASS overall, but due to the different positioning of the GLONASS satellites, GLONASS has better accuracy at high latitudes

  • I'm glad I see all this negative comments. I was about to pic mine up this morning.i'm a service tech and supervisor and cant afford to have problems like this.i wanted toe buy the s60 for its housing en thermal technology bit all the comments made me not to continue buying this product

  • Hello Also my phone switches off as soon as I turn it on, it's only 1 month old. How can I solve this issue. Thanks

  • Hello you have achived dual SIM phone support upgrading the firmware of same single imei phone equipment? Thankyou.im Lucas

  • i live in Africa n my country is Kenya..n my question is how much will it cost me to get cat s60 because no single piece of cat smartphones has reached our country......

  • Hello! I'm a civil engineering and I'm using it since 2 months now. I'm removing it from charger in the morning and I'm using it AT LEAST in the evening not earlier then 22:00. Using: lte connection all the time, mail, youtube, camera...normal use on site...and the maximum was one Sunday(home) from 7:00 until Monday at 20:00 with one charge. You decide now. Before of thia I had 2 Samsung S5 abd one S3. This is 9/10 ...if it had IR he would be 10/10. All the best!

  • Had the same issue - try reseting (button is inside the sim cover, needs a needle), and then turn on phone. Usually does the trick

  • Hi, I have had my s60 about 2 weeks and havent had any problems with it untill now. I was in a phonecall when I couldnt enter the screen. black screen but I was able to speak with the guy in my phonecall. Is there any way I can restart the phone with a black screen? Or any other sulotions to this problem?

  • Hi Pinto. Im glad im not the only one experiencing the exact same problem as you with my CATS60 phone, very annoying. I have had my phone for 1 month and it is doing that very same thing. Frustrated and not sure what to do. I have tried turning off and on repeatedly but to no avail :(

  • will be. but for only a few minutes :)

  • How long does the Cat S60 battery last? I'm in construction in South Africa, and I'm a lot on my phone. Can anyone please advise.

  • I just received the S60 and for some reason it will not turn on at all,,, fresh out of the box never used,,, anyone else have this problem or now of a fix?

  • Hi, the same problem. Phone from Orange SK, I talked to the distributor in Czech Rep. No problem to unlock, but they will not do it, because I told them it is from Orange. Maybe you can try, but tell them you bought it from internet, or second hand. The contact is here: [email protected]

  • I'm about to have my 3rd Cat S60 delivered....first one had really bad battery life (12hrs and down to 20% with little use) despite trying everything that Cat suggested...my current one has the same battery issue, camera issues....and I'm unable to turn the flash on...it's just greyed out in the settings...is this an issue anyone else has had or have I had really bad luck?

  • If they use type-C I will buy this

  • hello, how unlock second sim and enable IMEI? where download and how install firmvare ? mi provaider no unblock

  • I am using CAT S60 for last 4 months, since yesterday, I am facing some issue about incoming calls, please advice 1) When the phone screen is in ‘OFF’ mode and if I get incoming call, the screen does not light up to show incoming call , I can only hear incoming tone. To know who is calling and answer it, I have to press power button, then unlock screen, then click phone icon/symbol and then only I can see callers name where I can answer it. 2) When the screen is in ‘ON’ mode and I get incoming call, I can only get to hear incoming call tone sound, but no details of caller phone number or name is displayed, and to answer this call I have to first click phone icon/symbol and then only callers phone number/name is displayed, then only I can answer it.

  • Hi, has anybody tried GNSS accuracy? Is it good for hiking, cycling? Just for comparison with other smartphones. Thank you.

  • Hello, it happened to me ... what I did was a "wipe data factory", and then when I started I told him not to use the networks to determine the location (that uses only gps). In this way the battery began to last longer. Greetings. PS: Have you tried any photography application (main camera, not FLIR) other than stock? Did you take pictures with good color (saturated)?

  • Cheking "battery" it seems like WIFI is using a lot of energy while it is all shut Down. Do anybody know why ??

  • It is a service provider issue, mine came with 2 sim slots but 1 imei, I contacted the importers who told me to bring the device to them, the did a firmware change and I now have 2 imei numbers, ( a dual sim device).. e g in South African contact Rugged Phones..

  • my cat s60 is coming 1 imei and 2 slots nano, and 1 freq wifi only 2.4 cannot 5.8, the question is it possible to 5.8ghz wifi?, my spec is lte_s0201121.0_s60_0.028.00 and 3.10.84-perf-g04d16ad, i'm waiting for root does anyone?

  • if anyone appear in settings just 1 IMEI thats mean only one sim nano. if 2 you can get 2 sim card.

  • Hi Rich I also have the same problem, as there is a second sim slot, but I also cant seem to get it working????

  • I have same problems what should to do?

  • Hi, the stock camera in my case does not take bad pictures (it does not take excellent), but in some configuration and usage parameters is relatively basic. That's why I was looking for other alternatives, for example to take sequence of photos. I tried several apps like Camera FV5, Cameringo, Camera ABC, etc etc, and in all the pictures I get very opaque, with little color, little saturated. Instead with the stock camera the color comes out well saturated ...

  • Yea, camera is really bad and kind annoying. Tried free apps, but its bad with them too

  • Hello, someone has installed some camera application (other than the stock). I mean the normal camera phone, not FLIR. In my case it happens that with other applications the photos are discolored (little saturated), instead with the application of stock come out well. Happy New Year. Greetings.

  • The phone is fully waterproof have tested 5m under ocean and pools drop to concrete on hard floor tested up to 2m no problem so far everything best n built-in

  • Stupid question: Will the phone still be waterproof if the micro USB and the 3 mm jack lid (cover) are open? Of course I don't mean 5 meters but something like 1 meter? Because the micro USB lid will eventually get lose soon. Regards

  • What do u mean brick??? Mine keeps restarting itself

  • Hi, Can anyone help me understand how the dual sim cards work on my S60? Having a hard time using and understanding how they work. Thank you

  • I just got an update version 28.06 and the discription mentions ( this update will brick your device) I guess it either really does so or someone in CAT's development team messed up

  • Hi Steevi, I've been using the phone for aabout 5 months now. Battery life is O.K. It lasts about 24 to 36 hours if I use it a lot. The charging cover also came off after about two months, glued it back on. The speaker cover is starting to break off on the edges, not sure why because the phone is not being misused in any way. Agree, the waiting period for these issues to be resolved under warrenty is too long, so I will rather use the phone as is. The contact app works fine. The phone is not cheap; so I'm not too happy about the poor quality of the charging port and speaker cover. I think this is a major flaw made by CAT.

  • I own the phone. The Thermal Imaging feature has both a different sensor and app. The sensor is the one on the back with Flir written next to it. Look at the photos.

  • It seems that its different app, not a different sensor. Am i wrong?

  • Download greenify app. It will hibernate all apps just by one click.

  • I buy it 4 month ago still good , battery life is good . Test at sea water and work fine up to 2 meter .Do not forget to lock microphone and speakers. Wish to have more function and app because it is little below expectation with that but any way you always can download app Bad thing no possibility to connect with tv with USB. My old LG2 has HDMI output . Still good phone and reliable for workers . Before CAT I have Samsung active water proof and soon he touch water stop working . return back and get CAT

  • Hi, please let me know if there is any way to close all the apps open at a time

  • Whilst i do love the Cat S60 i have had a few issues with it and i don't know if anyone here can help or has experienced the same kind of things. 1) The charge panel cover came off. I resolved this by super gluing it back on 2) The protective cover for the speakers has come unstuck and been lost 3) The battery life is appalling. Yes i do use the phone a lot and have a lot of apps open but if i don't recharge the phone at 14:00 by 15:00 it is out of battery (this is when its charged all night until 09:00). I have the battery doctor app from google play that helps but i can't get me head around having a new phone that won't last 24 hours without having to recharge the battery 4) Contacts are VERY slow to respond. it is the contacts app from the phone becasue if i go in via the outlook app it works at normal speed. At the moment (even with repeated re-starts) it takes 15 seconds to open a contact. To be fair to CAT they have offered to repair points 1 and 2 under warranty but also advised me that i will be without a phone for up to 3 weeks which i just can't afford to do. Has anyone else experienced these type of problems and/or have any advice for me? many thanks in advance Steevi

  • Can I charge CAT S60 with wireless charger, if yes which charger is recommende. thanks

  • It can be the power button or the battery.

  • Please give me a solution about this problem. When i turn the phone (Cat s60), this power off automatically. Where is the problem?

  • Hey Dambo, thanks for your review! All I can find online are the "plastic" 3-hour-playing-around-reviews, but almost any real user review. this is for me where the real feeling comes in! Its important for me as I am really thinking of acquiring one. question, after some more usage time have you found any other annoyances? I have read in some forums that a certain update would make the battery drain much faster :/ tnks in advance, cheers! Romeo

  • How quick charge working?

  • Has anyone opened this phone or found out online how to access and replace the battery? I love the idea of this super-durable phone, but it's not a lot of good if I have to ditch it in a year when the battery life starts getting short! Thanks!

  • You go to settings / data (4th line on the menu). Then click on the three points at the top right (android standard menu) and choose mobile network (4th option on the window oppened) You will see an option to define the type of network for each SIM.

  • Thanks for the reply

  • how do u chose this option.. as my second sim slot isnt working as well as the sim slot it is in is just showing on edge and no 3g or 4g

  • My quick charge is not working. It only says charging during the charging period rather than saying charging rapidly. Is there a fix or I need to turn on any feature?

  • Both can be 3G and 4G, but not at the same time. You need to change the settings and choose which to enable to 4G. Automatically, the other one switch to 2G

  • Own it for a week now First the bad things: • Primary Camera is bad in low light - Secondary has very high reds and a lot of noise (compared with my HTC 610 ...its bad) • Main Speaker is horrible (switch on 2m), quite loud but like coming out of a plastic bucket. • It is not waterproof if you have your headphone jack or USB lid open, it is just regular IP68 certified. • Week flash light, for this kind of phone its the worst offender! The Good: ✓ Battery life is great - first charge 96h: 58%wifi 7%screen all rest 2-1% (haven't used it that much the first charge) ✓ Programmable key , two modes, long and short press. ✓ Comes with Qualcomm Quick.Charge 2.0 - 1.5 amps. And with a thick screen protector foil that you can apply. ✓ Elexir 2 has access for all sensors in its list except for "Ambient temperature sensor" and "Relative humidity sensor". I love the phone,I'm gonna keep using it. The only daily annoyances I have with it come from android, like the thing i have to do 2 swipes and 2 taps to turn off/on data usage! Like Im on a freeken iOS 4, . So I see myself rooting it very soon. I find myself using the FLIR more often than the regular camera, though I don't use phone cameras very often, no matter the phone. But I turn on the FLIR every day, to check my computers temps, room temperatures... Even how hot is my coffee :D. Its a great toy and a tool; I figured out the draft paths in my C shaped apartment. And its gorgeous! Hopes for the next gen: Some of the people who need this phone the most, would often need a good camera with it, for example they need to ask them self "How do we make a mountain biker to say 'I don't need the GoPro today I have the CAT' ". I would also like to see some extension to attach a snap hook to the phone. Like the Sony Ericsson Xperia active And the current torch light is unacceptable!

  • No, mine has only one.

  • My question is, is it a dual SIM phone with 3G network on both slots or 1 is 3G an 4G and slot 2 is only 2G. Thank you, expect answers

  • please iwont help, i from italy milan city i still not see this phone in milan city. i think sometimely not yet arrived at italy please give me a information

  • Totally agree!

  • I have a Cat S60 and I am very happy with the device, it really is as good (and even more) than it is described. It is robust, very good looking and powerful. I only have one theme with the main camera app (google camera app). This app takes the photos "very colorful" or saturated, also has no options. For example you can not specify the aspect of the photo (16: 9, 4: 3, 1: 1). Then I tried to install other app (OpenCamera, Camera FV5, Footej Camera, ABC Camera) that allow many more options, but ... in all of them the photos come out with "little color", little saturated, almost tending to black and white. I have tried using the Camera2 API and no. So I wanted to check if anyone has tried installing some camera app that works well. I do not know if it is a defect in my unit, or in general. Greetings.

  • The thermal camera is phenomenal and not just a gimmick. The CAT S60 as a whole is incredible. If you are a tradesman, outdoor enthusiast, or just generally rough on your phones, this is hands down the best phone for you. People commenting from their air conditioned offices, typing with their manicured fingernails have no idea what they're talking about when it comes to the S60.

  • Sensor box app says it has also gyroscope.

  • Sorry, my mistake. It doesn't have gyroscope. On the s60 that I tested GoogleSky was quite unstable in horizontal position.

  • Yes it has an accelerometer ! It says that here in GSMArena under specifications and also on CATPhones homepage. And if you don't believe it, just install some kind of "Android Sensors" app. By the way - on my CAT S60 GoogleSky is working ok. Before claiming something, check your facts.

  • No accelerometer, GoogleSky is not fully supported because of this.

  • Thanks for the best rewiu for making a good idea of this phone.

  • Where is that retailer, can you share the contact info? My sister will visit London on last days of this month. If you can provide info, will try to replace the firmware with dual sim one. Thanks in advance.

  • Dude, this might be related to a SIM card / phone compatibility. See with your telecom provider for a replacement, ask for a newer one (USIM).

  • Joey, did u solve your problem. I live in Lebanon and thinking of buying this phone

  • I do have need for an instruction scheme , where to press to acheive what I like to do... Br Gunnar

  • i have same problem

  • Where can i download that firmware?

  • I have this same question. You could arguably say that due to jailbreak and site where you are looking but thats just an educated guess. Any takers around?

  • In that case considering the specs what would be your pick for a rugged phone? Cheers.

  • When you set up the alarm, just need to click over the bell. A window will open with the sound options. This is the procedure standard for Android

  • Do you know how I can change alarm sound in this phone?

  • thanks

  • 3 cameras: front, back and thermal

  • is the cam only thermal? or has thermal?

  • how to use this dual sim card on this s60 please help

  • Upon delivery the phone did not function correctly when charging, it sometimes does not read the SD card correctly (tests with other smartphones proven), the camera (especially with video) has difficulty with the focus, the thermal imaging is more of a gadget. The good thing about the CAT60? It's long life battery and waterproofness, although the latter is until you break one of the protective covers... (each time the phone charges you will have one of those protective lids open) I would hesitate to recommend the phone!

  • CAT customer service its just AMAZING!they sent a brand new s60 device.and the replacement just take 6days sat sun include.thank you

  • Great Phone. 'Practically' unbreakable. I have a young child who has tried her best. She broke 2 phones before this one. She cant even scratch this thing. Its only scuff came from when I accidently dropped it from the hood of a lifted Jeep onto concrete. Scuffed the corner good, but it didn't even reboot. I actually said "Wow!" when I picked it up and it was still functioning perfectly. Not much bloatware. Some, but not much. Flir is very useful in my profession, but its pretty cool as a party gimmick. Everyone has something to say about the thermal imaging and snapshots. Surprisingly, some people get sore and jealous about it saying how its useless and just a gimmick. It really does have a host of practical uses you don't think about till you have one and play with it. Motors, computers, dimmer style light switches, electrical uses abound, finding holes in insulation, moisture behind walls, leaks, cooking (grill temp, water temp, fry-oil temp). If you are a clever handy-person, the uses are limitless. Want to know if your coffee is too hot to drink? Hilariously, I now know the thermal color that is my perfect coffee temperature. No more burnt tip-of-the-tongue. Camera is legit. Not spectacular, but a fair number of options and pretty clean resolution. If you want a specialized camera phone, there are others which are better, but as someone who was looking for a nice solid camera, this is perfect. And it takes pictures underwater which is just.... lol. Almost no other phone does that. Gimmicky in my life (I don't spend much time in or near water), but cool nonetheless. I would give this phone a 9/10. I only ding it a mark because it doesn't support 5GHz WiFi. My old Samsung Galaxy S4 mini supports it. For a flagship phone like this, in 2016, this is really unacceptable. I want soooo badly to give this phone a 10/10 but without 5GHz support, I simply cannot. That being said, of all available phones, I choose this one. Even over phones I may give a 10/10. Its unsurpassed ruggedness, substantial feel/solid construction, visual appeal, and especially its host of unique and 'over-the-top' features make this phone the one for me. I will suffer 2.4GHz networking, just because this phone is so brilliant in every other way.

  • Good day Just bought my cat s60 but my 2nd sim isn't reading could you maybe get me intouch with the guy who updated your firmware

  • On Chile, work so fine..

  • Dear Sir. S60 and S7 are very differents phones. Depends of the use , I has boths , S7 is a Nice phone , fast , waterproof , great battery life , wonderfull camera but so fragile. S60 is a normal configuration phone really fast , but so strong , real sumerged phone And the Flir Thermal camera is amazing , battery is great.. Is a real multitool phone. Just need only three thing more for to be perfect . Micro USB uncovered..now you must be open every time for charging. Wireless Fm radio...you need to put a wiring phones for using this feature. Uncovered earplug Jack..same thing that the charging , every time need to be open , but you can use a Bluetooth earphones. All the rest ,is so fine..for me.. Regards.

  • fantastic phone but we technician still need infrared and laser included to the cat s60 phone. it will make more fantastic for engineer and technician

  • hi everyone, I just received the phone s60 and I m thrilled by it. I cannot give much details as It has not been yet 24 hours, however so far my second slot for sim card is not working not reading an active sim card and no internal option changes that in the menu that I came across. ready E on the network not H. can anyone advise if there is a way to solve this given am present in the middle east (Egypt) thanks in advance.

  • I don´t know if you are commiting the same mistake I had. You can not enable 3G for both sim cards. When you set one, the other automatically changes for 2G. I was changing and changing and always I went back to the previous page, it was 2G. A big shame... but I thought it could help.

  • why cat S60 have lot of prices some is 450$ 640$ 680$ 799$ but same model same specification

  • I live in lebanon, i bought the phone from amazon, everything's working properly except for the 3G, only 2G is working, knowing that on my previous phone I had no problem enjoying the 3G service. And knowing that I have update it the firmware today. Any suggestions?

  • Where did you buy? Please give a contact to solve the same problem.

  • Damn. Poor you.

  • Makes sense. Its a Renault...

  • All the CatS60's are dual sim phones. With the correct firmware installed, the dual sim will work. The dual sim was not working on my phone at first and Cat UK told me that my phone will not work as a dual sim phone. But the Cat supplier where I bought the phone simply loaded a diffirent firmware version and it has been working perfectly since then.

  • Definitely blutooth is not working well on this phone! So far: - i can not connect to my car hands free - i can not connect to my garmin Fenix 3 watch :-(

  • What appears as a dual sim variant, may well be a single sim variant which is only for North American market. The second SIM module that you see, is installed in the phone, but it may be disabled or not working. To check the simple way which phone model you have, look at the sticker on the top SIM slot. If it says "SD CARD", it probably is the single sim variant. If it has picture instructions for how to remove the top SIM card, then it may be the dual sim variant. Some sellers sell the single SIM version as a dual SIM phone, but do not mention that to the customer. In the US, the single SIM variant is cheaper in general from the dual SIM model(which is not sold in the US), which is how they make profit - on the difference between prices and on the customer's unawareness. To check the complex way if it is dual SIM model, first check to see what is the service provider band (in MHz) frequency for the country that you are in, then insert the 4G/LTE SIM card provided into the bottom slot, and turn on data and observe if the 'H' appears in the notification bar. If it does, then you should be able to insert the same SIM card into the top SIM slot and make the same observation. If the 'H' does NOT appear in the notification bar, then it is the single sim variant.

  • I have a big problem with my CAT S60. I just use one SIM on my phone ant it is inserted in the first slot. I set the preferred network type of the first SIM in the settings menu on automatic mode. My phone connects to the LTE network. As the LTE signal is not good in my area, the phone loses the connection often and then switches to 2G network instead of 3G and then it will not switches back to LTE when it's available. I should change the network type to 2G only or 3G only and the change it back to automatic mode to connect to LTE or I should turn the cellular data off and on to connect to the LTE. I have a CAT S50 and it works fine in the same situation. When it loses the LTE signal, connects to 3G network and shows H or H+ and when the LTE singnal in fine, the phone switches back to LTE automatically. I bought the phone in Iran without a warranty. I asked the CAT support team for any help and they told me I should call my original retailer and ask them if there is a problem with the phone or not. I want to know if this is a software or hardware problem. Is there anything I can do to solve the issue? Thank you.

  • hey, thanks for the update i did order mine from USA so will be difficult to make a firmware update i guess in Dubai.

  • Bluetooth is not working with Renault Clio hands free Media-nav system. :-(

  • Iv got s60 1-2 month ago.all the phone is great.battery run 3days nice.good dualsim.BUT the network signal is horror.im in london.i change all ready 2different services(three mobile, vodafone)now im in ee contract.iv got exatcly the same problem like before.s o MAY BE its not the services fault.iv call the cat customer service and told that story.the lady told ask the seller about the warranty.i ask all ready the seller who sent me a link with the cat customer service way.what now?

  • Enable sim two in Mobile menu.

  • Was anybody in US able to enable dual sim.?

  • they have an excellent customer support over at [email protected] , ask them there!

  • great phone

  • I live in Viet Nam. How to enable 2 sim cards, mine see only 1 sim and only 2g, no 3g, i have inserted 2 working sims but only works on 1 sim card anybody can tell me how to make it work with 2 sim cards

  • I'm getting my Cat S60 today and I'm in the Cape. Does anyone know where I can take it down here to have the dual sim firmware installed?

  • No real feedback on the phone. I am in the US Virgin Islands and have spent four days trying to buy the phone and get it shipped here through Expansys - the US rep for CAT. They are a bunch of idiots and I have given up. I'll get some other phone. They have been trying to tell me that the U.S. Virgin Islands are a- not in North America, and b- when I pointed out the stupidity iof that comment, that they were not in the U.S. even though in their ordering system the Virgin Islands can be selected like any other state. I am on a luxury charter yacht and do serious wet and climate tough work so this might have been a great product for me, but apparently they don't want to actually sell it.

  • In SA, our service providers block the second sim.. I took mine to Cernotech in fourways and they loaded the right firmware and my dual sim works..

  • My CAT60 is now 1 month old and all is working just fine. Dual sim is working after a firmware update. FLIR camera works well. Used it the other day to spot isolation gaps in my roof. If you manually set or lock the max and min temperature range on the FLIR app, you will be able to detect warm/cold objects better. Camera/photo quality also very good, except for night/low light photos, flashlight works well for portrait photo's at night, but make sure to adjust the ISO setting to 100 for better clarity. Battery lasts a full day and up to the next morning with extensive use. The touchscreen is a but over sensitive and it makes typing sometimes difficult, except if you use it in landscape orientation. Wish there was a way of adjust the screen sensitivity. What I also like about this phone is that it is different from the rest in terms of looks.

  • Hi Hans, my dual sim is working without any issues. Rugged SA in fourways did a firmware update on my phone.

  • Maybe you got faulty phone ? At first my battery also did not last a day - that's because at first when people get new phone, they tend to play with it a lot, and new batteries need to go through several loading cycles before reaching their maximum capacity. I have had my CAT S60 about 6 weeks and now my battery lasts 3 or 4 days easily. The FLIR image is not very sharp because it has only 80x60 pixels sensor. (0,0048 megapixels) But consider this, that even professional FLIR cameras have only 0,3 megapixels sensor and they cost about 37000 euros (about 41000 dollars) That is why this phone uses MSX technology - using regular camera for sharpening FLIR image. (in the dark you can activate flashlight) As for temperatures being different than actual FLIR camera - try using several actual FLIR cameras simultaneously - they all show a little different temperatures. The result can be influenced by many things - including your fingers too close to the FLIR lens and reflecting inrfared (ir can reflect like regular light) In controlled test environment i have been able to get quite accurate readings with my phone. But that is not the true purpose of FLIR camera - true purpose is to find differences in heat dispersion and using this info to detect heat pipes, house insulation defects, and many more things. You also said your phone was ruined by water ? This is strange, because i wash my phone under a tap every day. (gets dusty on construction). I can confirm that this phone is absolutely waterproof. So your phone was defective i guess.

  • I do not know about different versions, but regarding CAT S60 thermal camera - it can clearly see underfloor heating pipes or cables if they are heated. (i work on constructions and need to know where to drill holes) So, if pipe (filled with heated water) is not thermally isolated from the wall, it is visible with thermal camera.

  • My only complaint after a few weeks of owning the s60 is that the aluminum cover is coming unglued from the rubber charge port cover. It happened and I sent the phone to be repaired under warranty. They considered it DOA and shipped me a brand new phone. A couple weeks later, the same problem is happening with the new phone, even though I'm now taking extra care to avoid stressing the glue holding the charge port cover together. For an otherwise great phone, this is a very frustrating design flaw.

  • I liked my s60 but had some major Issues and had to return it. The battery never lasted even close to a full day The flir image was never very sharp and temperatures were off compared to an actual flir camera My phone was ruined by dropping it into less than a meter of water for only a few seconds. It frequently restarted and crashed. It has potential, though if it can't handle a tiny bit of water, what's the point of owning such a massive phone!

  • The manual from S60 says there are two versions, My FLIR Standard and My FLIR Pro but how to tell them apart (ie. P/N, SKU or Model Number for S60) ? Can the thermal camera see cold/hot water pipes thru wood ceiling or drywalls like the FLIR One does?

  • Everyone who has problems with two sim cards - try your sim cards one at a time in both sim slots. And never use nano sim, that has been cut from bigger sim. I got new nano sim cards (different carriers) the day i bought this phone and no problems.

  • Yes, CAT S60 should work with two sim cards right out of the box. My phone is working ok with two sims, and i have few friends who bought the same phone and their phones are also working ok with two sims. Maybe your phone is locked by your carrier or something like that. Anyway - you should ask about your problem from where you bought yor phone. And i have not encountered this crashing problem that some people here are experiencing. Maybe faulty exemplars ? (try erasing all app data under app settings and try using some other launcher)

  • hello Deon, does your S60 work already with dual sim? i also cannot get mine working

  • how to enable 2 sim cards, mine see only 1 sim, i have inserted 2 working sims but only works on 1 sim card anybody can tell me how to make it work with 2 sim cards

  • Mine has the same rebooting/hanging issue as several others have reported it. It went back to repairs, was there for 3 weeks. Came back with repair sheet saying "device flashed". Lo and behold, it is still hanging on daily basis... Quite messed up, this is. I know Pwr+VolDown buttons get it back running again, but this is not normal. I want to rely on my phone, not to check after every 15min whether it is still alive or not. Today morning it was dead when I woke up, so I can't rely on it even doing an alarm. What the...

  • I want to buy this phone, but just want to know when is a good time. How long would it take them to iron out bugs? I sent them an email to ask them how much to replace the battery, but they don't have that info. As the battery is non-removable.....

  • Hi, Thanks for the info but can you please be more specific? the embedded thermal camera app does not have a manual calibration option further than the automatic calibration button which actually sets the scenery using the average temperature and changes continuously making it hard to distinguish a man having 30 degrees from a wall having 25 degrees in 10m distance. Can I lock somehow the 25 degrees background to be blue for example so I can have the man red/orange/yellow? Thanks in advance.

  • You obviously don't own a CAT S60. Yes it has a gyroscope. (there are 12 different sensors inside this phone)

  • I have had time finding cat s60 FLIR Thermal Camera Technical Specification. Is it -5...+100C or -50....+1000C camera?

  • Dear depend for what you need. Cat is beast in term of durability but hardware is midrange nothing special so for games and other heavy task will lose without any question with S7. So unless you will go to war or have job/hobby which require enormous durability I think S7 be better. P.S Have not gyroscope(Cat gsmarena specs) so any games and few task will be impossible for Cat. P.S Is very honest answer because Im anty-fan of samsung(since S6). If you want better advice then must specify what you demand from smartp. Regards.

  • What is the model number of the different variants? I cannot tell which is which when searching online.

  • cat s60 or samsung s7 edge?? which one is the better phone??

  • cat s60 or samsung galaxy s7 or s7 edge????

  • camera must be calibrated winter/ summer - choose one black corp; heat it on , focus and seave ; after will work up to 280 deg .

  • I had several unexpected restarts. Than I noticed, that it restars only in my cardan box when sim cover is in contact with box. Vibration was the guilty.

  • The camera is always making noise when taking pictures is it possible to mute it? Thermal camera is nice but only for cold environments, when ambient temp is more than 30 Celsius, you cannot see people around easily as the camera (or the SW) cannot distinguish the difference and all seem orange-yellow. I guess with a fine tune in the sensitivity of a future release will be able to perform better. But it is a fantastic phone, I wish it was 20% smaller...

  • Interesting... my phone has not done that. Once it froze but reset button helped. Turned out to be an app that was messing up something. Self reboots are 99.9 % software related. Either some faulty app or settings, or some apps that do not work together wery well. Try to uninstall everything that you installed since this problem occured and reset permissions of all apps. If that does not fix it, backup you data and do factory reset. And if that is also not helping, try another sim card(s). (Do not use self cut nano sims)

  • My phone reboot by himself several time à day... Anybody else ?

  • I wonder how many are getting a loose charger latch seeing as its the most used port.

  • The Aluminum charger latch came loose and is now missing, maybe in my washer, the rubber flap still keeps the phone waterproof. instead of the nice latch, now there is a black hole which can not be opened without a flat screwdriver. Called customer service, got RMA to return the phone via DHL, now got an email the service parts are not available at this time... They keep me posted to when I can get it fixed... Be careful with the latch!

  • If you think two sim cards consume too much battery, then use only one. But in my experience this phone needs to be charged only twice a week even with two sim cards so i don't see your point. As for improvements and XDA - SDK is already released by CAT You say your phone randomly freezes during calls or hanging up ? My CAT S60 has never freezed. Either you have defective phone or some software problem. (did you upgrade your software ?) There is also a chance that these freezes can be related to your carrier. You also mentioned there is no option to select custom alarm ringtone. I don' t know why are you mentioning this here, because this is where hardware related things are being discussed. Remember: phone is just a hardware - what can and can not be done with it depends mostly on software (within the limits of hardware). If you can not change your alarm ringtone, you should damn the Android 6 Marshmallow software, but in this case - yourself. Because it is actually possible and very easy - open your app drawer, then clock and then you should be on the page where you can add alarms. Each added alarm has small white arrow (pointing down) Click this arrow and you can see more options. There is a text: "Default Ringtone (Cesium)" Click on it and change it to what you want. This method makes possible to put different ringtones to each alarm. Camera could be faster indeed. But it is not the worst either. As for different camera apps - i can not say for sure that there is not single one that shoots faster. Needs further checking.

  • You either have a defective unit, or your carrier is useless. There is absolutely nothing wrong with the reception capability of the S60. I live in a rural area and this thing gets more signal than anything else I've ever owned, in more places. Voice quality is unbelievably crisp even with 1 bar. Are you sure you are not using the international version in the USA or an area where you only have support for a couple of the LTE bands? Because it sounds a lot like you are only able to pick up one of the bands on offer by your carrier.

  • Having owned this since UK release, the port cover for the usb/charge doesnt sit flush anymore. Looks like the rubber inner plug is detaching from the outer cover on the hinged bit

  • Can t see in the dark with termo must light so termo visio it is not good as a real termocamera.for smartphone all right.

  • Well no matter how well firmware is dual SIM phones will always consume a lot more battery juice... Also I doubt that flir and cat will share any source codes with XDA so chances you will get any improvements in firmware is nearly zero... I also noticed that there are random freezes during calls or hanging up.... And there is no option to select custom alarm ringtone, done it with folders but still shame it's not there... Btw camera is slow on shooting too, takes about second or two to make shot tried different app still same. Loudspeaker is awesome on it.

  • Mu s60 reboots several times a day. Somebody knows whats wrong?

  • Hello! Tell please what quality is speech reciever? Is it loud, without noises? Have the phone second microphone for noise cancellation?

  • As I said - no advertising. This i my first CAT phone ever, so not a fanboy. And why should i lie about my experience with this phone ? (I swear i am not advertising, just observations) About 5 year battery life - you are making too many assumptions: about battery life, about capacity of different batteries, about how many loading cycles different batteries have, about how often someone charges their phone's batteries, about everyone having an "average" smartphone, and most of all - you assume that after battery life is not what it used to be at the first year, then you can not use your phone anymore. As i said - my last phone battery lasted over 5 years - it was weaker at the end, of course, but still lasted a day, sometimes a day and a half (according to usage) How ? - very easy: 5 years ago phones had weaker system specs, lower display resolution and batteries that were made to last longer. At first (after initial plying with the phone) my battery lasted 4 days and more. Later, after few years I installed better optimized version of operating system. (XDA Developers) It also helps to calibrate your battery time-to-time. Anything is possible with a little effort. I guess it also depends on how you use your phone. (I do not have any social media accounts, i mostly use my phones to make calls, browse internet and receive e-mails) About reception - i do not live in any town or near any town, so reference to "town cellars" is not accurate also. I was talking about cellar in countryside house. (sorry for not specifying) I guess in some countries cellular coverage is better (big mountains are blocking the signal, for example) And a little update about my CAT S60 - battery life is now even better. It is because after few loading cycles new battery reaches it's maximum capacity. (i hope i can squeeze more out of it after a while)

  • Oh come on these positive detailed comments just pure advertising.... 5 years on battery? Really?! Well I tell you what each battery has its lifetime or in other words x amount recharge cycles. Average every smartphone is recharged once a day some even twice etc.. so we have around 356 cycles a year and as far as I know most lion batts have 300-500 cycles lifetime..... So really within first year every phone drops about 20℅ of its battery capcity and that's without heat.... With today's usage phones are only manufactured to last a year or two as everyone upgrades anyway.... With reception there is issue and it's for sure... Maybe in town cellars won't be a problem... Sound I can give 5 star best I have heard on this type device. Don't get me wrong device is nice and solid but there is plenty to work on it yet...

  • Hey Deon, I was told by a good source its just a firmware update. The network provider does not want you to have the choice of two sims so will basically lie to you. The networks frown on phone manufacturers having dual sims.

  • not often ,only one time after last update .

  • Does this happen often?

  • My phone is now two weeks old and I'm happy. Battery life is one to two days with high usage. Sound quality good, reception very good. FLIR camera nice, you can see people in complete darkness 20 to 30m away. I only have one complaint. The dual sim is not working. According to the re-seller here in SA they are waiting for a firmware upgrade, but CAT UK told me that my phone cannot be upgraded to a dual sim because the phone does not have a second antenna for the dual sim. So what they are telling me is that you get two S60's; one with a singel sim, and one with a dual sim. Even though my phone has a second sim slot it will not work. But the re-seller here in SA are convinced that a firmware update will solve the problem. Who do I believe? Does anyone have the same problem?

  • just find reset pinhole near sim card ,and press with needle.it helps for me

  • same for me , freeze on locked screen . but i found reset pinhole near sim card ,just use needle for reset ,and its live now ,without loses of information inside .

  • Does anyone know when Cat intend to upgrade this phone to Android 7.0 Nougat? Nougat has key features such as 'split screen', so it make Android device more useful....

  • Hi! The same shit happen.. so whats the problem is with phone?

  • So I've been using my US version Cat S60 on AT&T for a week now and I'm extremely impressed. Build quality is very solid and all of the features meet or exceed my needs and expectations. Cellular connections are fast and stable, works on all AT&T bands including LTE with no issues; although they did have to play around with the type of device that they entered it as because their system didn't recognize the phones actual IMEI yet. WiFi isn't the fastest given it's using older standards, but the connections are rock solid. Bluetooth range is better than any phone I've used previously. I've had other phones that the signal to my wireless headset would cut out if the phone was in my pants pocket, but no problems here. The screen is nice and bright ever outdoors. Touchscreen responsiveness is exemplary. The 720p resolution makes a couple of the things I do each day a little more crowded on the screen than previous phones, but it sure pays off in battery life. The CPU seems to handle all of the tasks I throw at it with aplomb. The device boots rapidly even when encrypted and application switching is smooth. Battery life is amazing. Granted I spend all of my time in areas with extremely good signal strength, but I still find it impressive. A typical day for me is probably a couple dozen emails, half a dozen short phone calls, 50 or so texts, a dozen normal photos and a few FLIR photos; and I typically end the day with 75% of the battery left. The combination of mid-range CPU, 720p screen and enormous battery definitely pay off here. Very happy with this device. Way better than the last "rugged" Samsung I used.

  • I don't know what some people here are complaining about - my CAT S60 works perfectly. Cell signals (two sim cards) are good - even in concrete basement, (some other phones do not have such a good reception), my phone does not heat up, battery lasts two or three days (two days if i use the phone very actively, browsing internet and screen is on a lot of time) Yes - battery is not replaceable, but my last phone battery lasted over 5 years. (phone died before battery) FLIR camera is quite accurate - if you know how to use it. For example human skin temperature is supposed to be about 20 degrees Celsius - it is normal, because skin gets cooled constantly. (on a hot day it is warmer) I have tested FLIR on very many objects (like hot water, frozen water, and stuff that i know exactly what the temperature should be) You just have to be precise when you aim the FLIR. This is true that it measures max 150 degrees celsius (150.3) Of course aluminum frame is "soft" - but not as soft as plastic. Only way to make it more durable would be using steel, but then the phone would be very heavy. The fact that phone survives dropping to concrete from 1.8 meters does not mean it will not get scratced - i would recommend some kind of phone case. As for weight - it really does not feel heavy. (maybe some children with small hands would find it big and heavy but for grown-up human being it is nothing :-) If anyone gets bad reception or not workin sim - DO NOT CUT SIM CARDS - REPLACE WITH REAL NANO SIM. And if your CAT S60 (or any other phone) keeps crashing or gets poor battery life - make sure to have latest firmware and software updates. And get some app to monitor battery usage - so you can kill or uninstall apps that are draining battery. If you ask me - i will strongly recommend this phone. It is the best phone i have had. It is fast, never seen any lag (over 90 apps installed), and screen is very good. Some reviews suggest that colors are "washed out" and black is more like gray. Absolutely wrong ! Colors are very vivid (maybe not for people that are used to Super AMOLED orange faces on photos) and black is very dark - even in dark room it is almost like AMOLED black. And even though screen is "only" 720p, separate pixels are VERY hard to see. The fact that this phone's hardware is not the absolute top and screen is not the maximum that can be, is actually a good thing - you get much more battery life. I do not work for CAT and I am not making any advertising here - just read all these comments and noticed that these are showing mostly negative experiences. For me the experience is far from negative, so i decided to share it.

  • For anybody considering this phone I would stay clear and rather buy additional flir camera instead! I think there is no point mentioning good if bad makes this device unusable: 1. Really poor sim signal no matter which carrier you use. I have 6 phones in household ranging from Samsung S7 to cheap Chinese phones and all, Yes all even bloody Chinese phones have better signal than this CAT S60! Always hunting for signal. Outside is not that bad, but once you are indoors or in industrial unit that's all phone call's into voicemail..... Absolute disappointment and unusable as phone! 2. Heat oh yes it does heat up whilst in use. Whether its just used as satnav or as flir camera it does heat a lot. Which in other words will kill battery quick. Bear in mind battery is not replaceable. So really expect bill for replacing battery in service center after 6-12 months as I don't think it will survive longer. 3. Flir camera is not that accurate, there is about 10dergrees Celsius difference. So if item is 30 degrees it will show 20 degrees.... So really not that much of use if you need to know exact temperature. Also it only goes to 150 degrees which I would prefer 200.... 4. Aluminum alloy frame is very soft, after some bumps it just cuts in... I would actually think that's part of the reason why reception is so poor on it... Would I recommend it to others - NO! Sorry CAT it was nice try, but there is still a lot to work on!!! And I wont mention it all as you don't listen anyway!

  • Please can you give us a little more info regarding typical battery life. I know if you turn search for WiFi on, acquire GPS etc, get an email every 10 mins etc, never let the screen blank etc most smart phones wont give you a working day! I need something that when used as an old fashioned phone, lasts for about 36 hours.

  • I got this device for a week now, and here you get a few things that may help you if you are thinking about purchasing it: - Battery life is 1 day, starting at 6 am with heavy email use and continuing through the day until 4 or 5 pm, then casual use for pictures until 10 pm...it is at 3%, therefore a bit disappointing for the 3800 mAh. My old iphone 6s will last longer with same use. - Screen: acceptable but far from the levels of the samsung and apple flagships. - Camera: not too fast but decently good on the back and average on the front. -Thermal camera: very inaccurate, great for fun and getting big overheating issues but always when you have a reference to compare. - Size: big....thickness won´t be nominated for a beauty contest definitely. - Look: honestly I love the backside look, on the front it is a sophisticated rugged phone, but the back rocks - Water resistance: not great, the first time it went to the swimingpool with the 5 m protection on, just got a pop up in the screen saying that humidity got into the speaker and it started the drying procedure, far from being at 5 m depth. All in all it has its public, but without the thermal camera I would not consider it, a crosscall would be as good for 1/3 rd of the price, what I really like is the way it looks and the ability to take thermal images of engines. Hope it helps guys

  • i wish you would give more explanations

  • 223g - a bit heavy imo

  • I want purchase this phone cat s60.

  • Could anyone give me an imei # for the s60? My mobile carrier wants it to see if the phone would be compatible.

  • I have Been using this phone for a month now and i will giv you a personal user fair opinion aii rating are out of 10 screen 6 power 5 duel sim 3 also reboots at ramdon poor sim signal 2nd slot barley works best thing about this phone ruggard and flir

  • Walabot are bringing out a 3d penetrative radar as an extra plugin module. That might be a must-have for tradespeople as it coukd give lots more info than a stud detector

  • Hello, i'm from Mexico, and here nobody sell the phone (carriers, stores,....) i did buy the phone at amazon without problems, 1week. Greetings

  • Where i can get this phone at malaysia

  • really good phone.but i can't accept this price.the reason why i choose blackview bv6000.

  • man respect! I go back to service and fix the phone! thanks!

  • reseet butonn!! :D all ok :)

  • I just bought 2 days ago, and it was fine, and today when was on my table phone just die. Battery is full, and I cant switch them on. When I put cable the light is orange but display is dead. I go to service, and because is completely new I get in 10 days new one. Im a little frustrated...

  • I´d rather wait a bit with this phone. See, what the owners report...

  • I bought this smartphone before 5 days.. Today i had to deal with a red led blink of death and i sorted it out. I am generally impressed from its flir camera but my rear port always put water in when it intercepts with water and afterwards it closes and doesnt recognise sim card and turns off due to battery low even if battery is 20-50% and when i put it charge it charges very quickly until the number it was before. For a long time after it has been in contact with water (1 hour) sim card loses and regains use.

  • Flir will do more than 30 meters, just not accurately measure temps etc. If you'd be in a field I'm pretty sure you'd be able to spot a cow as a "hot spot of some kind" 100 m away..

  • The resolution of the flir isn't very high, and would be limited by a person crouching or hidden behind vegetation. Saying that you should see a heat source in the open at a good distance, especially if they are moving. Holding up an expensive phone would though make you a higher visibility target for theft, let alone anything else. A widebeam torch and extra personal self defence items would be a better way if the park is the only route home.

  • FLIR works up to 30 meters

  • I have to walk through a dark park at night to get home. I often worry if someone is lurking in the shadows. How far can the FLIR camera see? What is the range. How many metres?

  • I wrote -25 and it did this? :/

  • It's far better then the Flir One module as this is using the MSX technology to combine the pictures received from both cameras. It doesn't provide you with better thermal resolution, but the picture you get in result is far better

  • Found a manual for S60 from Cat's website:

  • Officially supports −25 °C, but I suppose this feature is expandable (tried on my CAT B15) by giving it some background job for the processing unit that will heat up the phone from the inside you can go even further than those minus 25, but be careful. It will consume the battery.

  • You won't have that trouble with this one. It has a power reset button hidden behind the back-door which includes SIM and SD. Don't forget. This device has been made by engineers for engineers :D

  • Install VLC Player from google playstore and you have almost all formats support :D

  • Same here. The B15 had been great for its price and sustained so many falls, so many stairs, sunken in so many rivers and lakes, got dirty in caves and other environments that would kill any other phone immediately. So many times I thought "it's over. It could have never survived this", but to my surprise it always did! Really looking forward to this new one. Keep up the good work guys, but do not take too long please :)

  • Hands on after I picked mine up today : the sim port cover latch does protrude slightly though a sliver of plastic glued in would stop inadvertantly opening. Would have been better as side ports. My 128gb Toshiba sdxc card wouldn't format but 32gb sdhc did OK. The charger is a standard 1A rather than 2A fast charger. Everything else initially is good

  • Any word on US release?

  • First thoughts on the actual device in hand. The sim compartment still has the catch that protrudes. A small sliver of plastic glued in here should stop accidental opening as sim and SD cards shouldnt need regular swapping, not a great design given side ports could have been used. My 128gb sdxc Toshiba exceria card wasn't recognised but 32gb sdhc sandisk was. The charger appears to be a standard 1A unit rather than 2A rapid charger. Other than that it's pretty good so far

  • Which size has photo sensor?

  • Device has finally shipped from Clove. Expect delivery in a couple of days

  • I would await more enhanced outfit for such a device. I am missing sensors like a barometer, hygrometer, thermometer. The IR camera is a good marketing strike but a noctovisor (night vision / cat eye) would do more effect. Maybe the next phone generation will combine both of them. I praise the FM radio tuner, not so often seen in recent top-phones. The design is a eye-catcher as well.

  • .My UK supplier expecting stock this friday. Latest test reviews say rear sim port can pop open easily and bork the fone if it gets wet inside

  • It has not been released yet !!!!

  • Wondering if this camera has the ability to recognize methane emmissions. I know FLIR cameras have different models for thermal and for methane - wondering what the range on this one is.

  • Consumer Reports are saying the S7 Active appears to be failing water resistance tests on the limited samples they have, so might be a deciding factor for anyone waiting for both

  • Any chance they left the factory in the United States? Brutal wait time. Plus my old phone is on critical life support

  • They have really left the factory now, so first batch will be the dates you mentioned for sure..

  • what exactly do you mean by wireless n?

  • Weight: 223g Standby time = up to 43 days*** Talk time = up to 30 hours*** *** Network bands in regions may be different, depending on the mobile operator and your location. Upload and download speeds also depend on the mobile operator. Available storage is less due to phone software. • Would like to have it combined with Samsung Galaxy S7 active - by best sides

  • its already here in iran, will buy it next week

  • $650 and only has Wireless N.... that's what killed it for me.

  • Once again delayed untill 11-18 July.... (((. Sorry, but I am not going to wait for another week (month, quarter...).

  • Right there with you. It's july, come on already!

  • "please note this handset is for pre order only with an approximate release date of week commencing 18th july, orders will ship once the handset is in stock." 530 gbp... not really cheap...

  • Phone was supposed to arrive shop today, but was pushed back to monday. Can hardly wait.

  • I've been viewing this page so many times and still no release in my area. What an amazing phone. Really a work of art.

  • Is it ready yet? huh, huh Is it ready yet? huh? Waiting since February ... Is it ready yet?

  • But don't worry UK I will buy your mobile phone anyway. I hope I can help you 😉

  • UK colonized half world and now the ship is sinking they jump off. Great attitude!

  • children... Lesson # 56258145 ~ patients is a virtue

  • I want this thing!

  • Do not worry about the UK, we will be just fine, either in or out of the EU.

  • Less than 1 week to go, been waiting so long for this phone! My CAT B15Q has done well and has travelled. Those fellows at Clove Tech been great.

  • Maybe to outsiders, but that doesn't matter, as internally we will be fixed.

  • Nah. England is done fore, mate. Your economy will be almost non-existent in the next few years.

  • Where can I get it to buy,I have the S50 and I need the S 60

  • the phone of the year

  • only thing i did not like is SD617 it has a major heating issue

  • I need this phone in my life to throw it at people who annoy me!!!

  • i like the size and the specs of the phone but i dont like the design it is too ugly!

  • this thing is really cool, actually

  • How about Samsung Galaxy S7 Active?

  • It´s not delayed, yet. Original release date is early july.

  • yo

  • Got email form Clove saying their UK stock expected 4th July

  • can't wait

  • Why it is not released yet ?!! too much delay Any ideas ?

  • Yes, coming end July to mid August to multiple operators, pending ICASA approval. At least according to the CAT rep I spoke with.

  • Aren't we proud!

  • I have the S50 and I'm so proud of it. The cellphone is awesome. Very rugged and also estable.

  • good phone -pranvi

  • wmv player? Isn't this a software spec? U could install a player that supports it and voila!

  • Looks like release date of 7th July for the UK. Cant really see any competitors with flir, but more flagships coming out with an IP rated flagship as an extra model

  • This is the only device this year I have really go excited about. Its so damn cool, has a decent spec and is strong enough to club a T Rex with it. Gimme gimme ......

  • I wonder what heat issues are like with the Snapdragon 617?

  • When the hell is it coming

  • It is nearly perfect. It is perfect size, roughed, has dual sim, good camera, however, the non-removable battery is an annoyance (especially at this price). Is it possible to send to Cat to replace the battery? If they built in a DAB radio, it would be even better!.

  • Can I get it in south Africa

  • Hit the expand button on the network section, this then shows the supported wireless bands and modes.

  • Or England. Where the phones made, and released first.

  • that is only a small part of the country but the media would make it look like it is the end for all syrians...

  • well still atleast a slightly better chipset on those new 14-16 nm process

  • I live in Bulgaria. How can I buy CAT S 60? Or where I can buy it online? Thank you in advance!

  • no no no, no. NO! 4.7" is perfect, any bigger and one-hand operation is difficult and it doesn't fit easily into your pocket. 1080p would use too much battery and processor.

  • I thought you Syrians were hard done by?

  • i wish it was 5.5 inches and atleast 1080p with a stronger chipset

  • I live in syria how i can buy it

  • I live in Bangladesh' Dhaka city. How can I buy it? Pls informed me. Pls!!!!! Informed me .

  • I live in tunise how i can buy it

  • go to the U.S.

  • Since it can detect hot spots it can be very useful in firefighting, really want one.

  • I live in Vietnam, how can I buy cat s60?

  • I,ve been using phones down to -35-40 degrees celsius. Touch screen wont work as usual, but otherwise works fine.

  • Wouldn't it just work with all? At least phones in Denmark do. Everything else would be silly xD

  • Excelent dual phone, excelent battery no qwerty, not suport wmv plajer like all CAT phones!. No thanks

  • Press that expand button (network technology)

  • take my money

  • No specifications yet what wireless carriers it will function with and what bands it functions on. Does anyone have this information?

  • every phone manufacturer had a key or combination of keys to force shutdown or reboot a phone in case of hang up or when you needed to do hard reset upon booting your device. most uses the power button and volume up or down keys pressed and held simultaneously until options will appear for you to choose which operation you'll gonna do.

  • every phone manufacturer had a key or combination of keys to force shutdown or reboot a phone in case of hang up or when you needed to do hard reset upon booting your device. most uses the power by pressing it fir a whike

  • Any information about primary camera module?

  • I assume this phone won't work with Verizon?

  • It is scheduled to release on June 30th 2016 at which time most standard vendors should be selling them; Home Depot sold the older Cat S50's as did Amazon

  • I live in Canada where l can get it

  • I live in Canada where l can get it

  • I need one. Is it possible to get one from Bangladesh??????

  • Not seeing thermal range spec's for this new phone?

  • This looks attractive, first one I have seen with built in thermal imaging although Apple has a external plug in. Lots of Pro's with this phone, one dislike is the non removable battery. I'm always the one with the phone that freezes until the battery runs dry. If you are gonna make the battery non removable you could at least consider a power disruption button to momentarily toggle power to do a hard reboot. Hey cell phone engineering department how about a watch dog level type of reset, makes engineering sense.

  • The price is premium. First sellers list it for 680€

  • Iam from Bangladesh how can get CAT S60 Cell phone from Bangladesh...

  • Really nice cell phone. I am living Bangladesh how can i get CAT S60

  • Hey i want to buy one asap, when and how can i buy one in Australia??

  • even normal phones work in that tempretures i think minimum is -20 degree

  • Dear Sir or Madam, Thank you contacting Cat Phones Support and for showing interest in our phones. Please be advised that there are plans to release the phone in Europe by June or July this year however, however we do not have any information on when the device will be released in The US. • Hello Minimum temperatures a few degrees of heat to a maximum temperature Sanygrad sense does it work?

  • Is it possible sub-zero temperatures it works or not?

  • June is more like it..

  • Where in Nigeria can I get one since I understand that CAT phones sales in Nigeria has been put on hold.I need the S60, I am presently using the S50.

  • I see that the expected release date is listed as April 2016... A few other sites say June 2016. Can anyone confirm which is correct?

  • Thanks for pointing that out, resolution is 1280x720, info on site is incorrect and will be updated asap

  • Go to official Cat S60 site and read specs. There is new updated info. Crappy resolution.

  • No sir. This phone is equipped with FLIR's Lepton module, with a resolution of 80x60. Yes, 80x60. Believe me, we have a $50,000 FLIR camera with a resolution of 320x240!

  • Resolution is fine in the specs, dont know what you are talking about

  • You own a Volvo too ehh?? I have a 2004 S60 R can't wait to have my CAT S60 to match it lol

  • Resolution is still wrong on specifications. Should be: qHD, 540x960

  • This is the Great gadget . I will buy this for my 14 year old Son "Mohammad"s Birthday gift.

  • They might as well incorporate in a temperature sensor as well.

  • after emailed catterpillar they confirmed release date will be in june or july

  • Resolution: qHD, 540x960 Qi: Maybe. At this point it is but may change for final product (like crappy resolution)

  • 3gam shop will bring it asap, i will buy from them too

  • if it comes in a good price, i will buy it, specs are great

  • Is any wireless charging?

  • Qi support?

  • I live in iran...i want it

  • Youtube reviews do not show clearly how normal pictures look like. Most of the photos on reviews are taken in FLIR mode. It appears as though the camera function cannot open up as normal colour mode. FLIR is a novelty but not practical for normal users who want a hardy phone with a good camera. Battery life is short for a supposedly military grade phone. Does not show battery drain rate under different conditions. Hefty price tag for a newbie in mobile world.

  • @PH: In my opinion, Yes. I work for FLIR, by the way.

  • its DUAL SIM ,or no ? somewhere i found that dual sim ? where is true ?

  • Is this a better option than Flir one+mobile?

  • Wanna replace my iphone 6sp with this lovely cat.who wish not have one?

  • can you see on the left side the yellow button? down left there is a headphone cover ...

  • Ideal handy phone 4 every one enjoys adventure and wetty moments at the same time

  • I wonder if this is available in Asia and what is the price range? Thanks in advance!

  • +- 699 €

  • 80x60px, range 30 meters

  • thermal resolution - 4800

  • Tough what is the cost

  • VGA = 640x480

  • No! You can buy those tablets or S7 etc. if you need big screen. Most prefer smaller, under 5" screens.

  • anybody knows what is the resolution of the thermal sensor?

  • Thermal bolometer resolution is 80 x 60 pixels?

  • I agree. I have note 4. Need the big screen.

  • it should be dual sim

  • Yeah its dual sim as well

  • I want one!

  • C mon 4.7 screen size? Really Do it 5.7 or list 5.5 ea.

  • no dualsim?

  • What about MAPs?

  • Where can i buy that phone

  • Real innovation

  • No gyrosensor?

  • Just below the sos button

  • It's 4.7

  • it will come with a 104db speaker and 500nit display speaker and display is the important point let me give up my s50

  • Where is the jack for headphone?

  • Anders, I have a B15 (without the ´Q´). No problem with the sound level in this one. I think there is something wrong with your phone, not the B15Q as a model. Anyway, interesting spec´s on the S60 and thinking of how my B15 just runs and runs year after year in a tough job tells me that the S60 is a strong candidate for my next phone. Compare this to the Xperia Go that actually was worn out after just three(!) months.

  • Simply amazing,,well done CAT

  • 4.5", really? Not 4.7?

  • Where do I find one?

  • In the B15Q sound was a big problem. I missed calls even though the sound was on max, and I couldn't hear anything while talking. The phone, as well as this one, is made for people who work in loud envioments, ans for me as a sailor, it could have been perfect. Have you fixed this problem in the S60? Nice touch with the FLIR by the way ;)

  • Finally, the phone that match with my daily ride

  • Amazing phone,please review it GSMarena ! :D

  • the water proof feature of more than 3 meters is enough it self indeed

  • This will be my next phone, precisely because of the camera. I have to chase the heat leaks in my house...

  • For those who complain about how it looks try having a look at what else CAT build, no it's not a Ferrari or a porsche but it will do exactly what it's built for, just like a haulpac and in a few years time when the fancy phones are in the bin the CAT phone will still be going, just like the Nokia's of old

  • Try again, Android is an OS not a model of phone and BTW this phone is an Android OS phone

  • All specs are good. But tell me what is the practical life use of $250 thermal camera. Without this it could bi a great deal to buy this one.

  • Take notes Apple, this is TRUE innovation. While this phone will have a small dedicated market of individuals that will find its features useful. It goes to show there are companies willing to push the envelope and make phones with features most of us would have never even considered. I know I never saw a phone like this coming. Way to go CAT!

  • People keeps bragging or complaining about the specs of each phone that is about to came out. Why not just appreciate the innovation of this new phone huh!? This phone is sooo manly. Very good for outdoor activities and for "sight-sseing" :-p..haha.. I hope it will come out soon here at Philippines. Good for watching live "room-actions"...wahahahahaha.. deym... better yet get a new performing girlfriend..lol

  • l love cat !!! :d

  • This is an android

  • this phone is also an Android kid

  • I´d buy it for sure. It´s a MAN phone. Sturdy as hell and with nice hardware. Not some flimsy iPhone ou shity android.

  • A snapdragon 808 on a quad HD phone would be sh!t. They're better suited for 1080p.

  • This thing has FLIR thermal imaging! Absolutely insane! And having a snapdragon 617 on this 720p phone will make for some awesome frame rates on games.

  • If it had a snapdragon 808 and QuadHD either a 1080 p display you would have my money caterpillar

  • This has just become my no.1 want on my smartphones list. Look at all of that beauty... now what CAT is just missing is a bit of more modern Chipset/CPU/GPU. But then, all will be perfect and people will no longer be buying other smartphone brands :P

  • @Cpt. Power. List price is $599. That's less than any current iPhone costs without subsidy.

  • screen resolution is an issue for me. the other stats look great

  • This is what I call REAL innovation! Some may say, it is a bulky device. Yes it is, but it can do some things which others CAN NOT do. Do not forget this is waterproof and shock resistant as well. Anyway this phone is not meant to be a super attractive one, but a durable one. :)

  • WoW. With its specs and durability it would cost more than upcomming Iphone 7 :-) Wonder if anyone needs phone like this for its massive price.

  • finally, i see a different smartphone in the nowadays phones, at the many cases :)
