  • Hello! I am typing this review using my Boston unlocked from Orange and 2.3.7 Gingerbread installed. Everything so far is OK

  • Just in Time: Your cleary working for vodafone or TMN for posting that, if not or if you had a Boston maybe you were unlucky with your phone (that could with any equipment of any brand). To conclude, Optimus isn't the worst operator (they have the best plans, best mobile internet and a great variety of equipments) indeed they are the younger ones but growing fast. They are gaingning on TMN (if not already past) and it's a matter of time (few yars) for they to equal or gain vodafone, at least in Portugal. Regard to Boston, I have mine, and don't have problems...even work with some aplications that in other well known brand products (more expensive) doesn't work. Yes the camera could be better, but are you kidding me??? With that price you can't find the perfect phone...sorry. So Orange Boston is pretty damm good ;)

  • para os portugueses.. I have this phone and works just fine.. I unlocked it and I'm using android 2.1 with no problems.. going to try and find 2.3 for it

  • Great value price/specs! Works fine... now my Boston have android 2.3.7, very fast!

  • I don't recomend persons to buy this phone.Principaly if you are in Portugal because that is an exclusive from the worst portuguese operator that device have a lot of problems, principaly in processor, don't record video with sound with a clean audibility, the quality of the camera is very low, that don't support Versions 2.1 and superior,if you try to upgrade that device you receive a message that is incompatible.

  • Its a very bad device, without upgrade compatibility, you can´t upgrade it.I try to upgrade to 2.3 gingerbread and i received a message that is incompatible. And i ask to people who want buy it for don't do that. And in Portugal it is sell by the name of the worst operator call Optimus. It have a lot of diseases and a lot of software troubles. That's the reason the european mobile operators don't sell him e that white brand it was banished from all operators.

  • I've just bought it now! From Worten.pt! Cost=79,90!

  • I have one Boston and one Iphone, comparatively they do The Same, but obviously the iphone is better in hardware. I think that if we look to quality versos price Boston will win, because it allow you to do everything you want with this type of gadget the Same way the iphone does, But is cheaper. Certainly I recommend you to try ... You Will Be very surprised.

  • radu, thats because they afford data plans around 20 euro and more, we dont. i think you dont need more the panther 8 and you will get it at 100 euro, so thats fine.

  • believe me, Romanians study more than most countrys, the only part is that we do no practice and we can`t make work experience. On tiopic: Is the Alarm Clock draining battery (I mean a lot of battery) My battery drops 30% over 8 hours with only the alarm clock running. (I kill wi-fi and other battery drainers before sleep)

  • Orange Romania: from 39 because, of course, Romanians have so much more money than Austrians or Spanish.

  • orange austria 1

  • same type like nexian journey

  • Got one from Optimus, in Portugal, and I'm very happy with it. It replaced my "old" HTC P3600, but the feature set is even better, for a third of the price. Battery holds for 2 to 4 days if only on stand-by (wi-fi, gps and 3g disabled), but it only lasts 1 day if you give it an intensive use (which is the same as my old phone). I'm waiting to see if the official Android 2.1 (or 2.2) upgrade comes out... with that it would be fantastic. The plastic cover is a bit "crappy", but with all the great features it has they hat to cut the cost somewhere. Nevertheless, it's excellent value for money!!!

  • Orange Spain 0

  • orange/romania - 39 euro

  • 50 euro in Romania

  • unde?

  • unde in RO e 590 euro?

  • unde in RO e 590 euro?

  • 50 euro in Romania

  • You can find it written under it's battery.

  • its now 189,90 in portugal

  • At the time of the post 179 in Portugal, Android version 1.6 with possibility to expand to 2.1 or 2.2 Quite fast... some hicups on keyboard, 5Mp camera is as most phones... low quality. Conclusion: Fantastic phone for a low price.

  • go for the boston, it works perfectly, an there is no problem with his construction and logn therm ussability it simple work, absolutely no lag at all, i have it for about a month and i know what i;m talking about, android just makes your life easyer

  • Gigabyte GSmart G1305 Boston or Nokia C5? which is better?

  • It is simfree in Portugal. Special summer campain " unlocked"

  • This phone is also known as Orange Boston, Codfish, Optimus Boston, Vibo A688 Apanda A60, WellcoM A88, Commtiva Z71, Muchtel A1, Chinavision Excalibur

  • It's not simfree in PT..it belongs to OPTIMUS..

  • I have one from portugal and it's a very nice phone and is such a good experience the only thing i want to change is the version i wanna upgrade him. When arrives the official android 2.1. OS for our company it will be better than other phones even more expensive.

  • Unlocking can also be done with front keys Settings > Sound and display > Screen Turn-On

  • i need to find my mac adress. i need this adress to conect to router. so i go to Settings > About Phone > Status > wi-fi MAC Address - but it say not available. How can i find it? Your phone show this mac adress?

  • no, in indonesia is usd258.....

  • anything new about the update?? will it be possible to update to 2.1 ?? The 600MHz is kinda low for that isn`t it? and did someone managed to surpass the 8 hour battery life? :P

  • sar 1.06 w/kg

  • In indonesia call NEXIAN Journey.... 258 euro

  • In portugal its 179.90 euro simfree... also known as OPTIMUS BOSTEN

  • 0 in spain and 20/month 18 months.

  • What's the SAR on this phone?

  • really a fair review - there's nothing more to say. i also bought the phone from orange romania because of the very good price / specs ratio (120 euros with vat) - and after 4 days of use i can say that i'm totally happy with it.

  • The real price is 184 euros VAT included , too much to pay for "an excuse of a smartphone" , 100 euros is the price with a 24 months contract from "Orange" in Romania.

  • I wanted to post a review (even though a little early maybe) because I imagine there will be lots of people who will want this phone after reading its specifications and noticing its price. I own this phone since yesterday. I conceived this review for people who are thinking about buying this mobile phone but are not quite sure about its capabilities, people who would normally buy it but consider it too good to be true. I was in the same position, but I decided to risk it. And I am glad I did. J The good parts: - Internet speed with its built-in browser is very, very good (tested on a Wi-Fi connection); Internet speed is also extremely good on other phone browsers (such as MiniOpera, the one I installed); I did not test the speed with dedicated software. Suffice to say that you need not worry about this detail when deciding to buy it; - The display is big enough for reading documents, newspapers and watching movies; its image quality is really good it could be better, but it will do in most of the situations; colors are very good; the LCD lighting can be set to "auto", to set its luminosity depending on the environmental light and thus reduce power consumption; the display also shuts down while speaking on the phone (with the help of a sensor), also to increase battery service. - The price vs. features is without competition, at least at the moment; - Picture quality is good, but not outstanding; maximum movie time is of one minute, but I did not transfer it to a PC to see the capture quality on a monitor; Anyway, I really did not buy this phone for taking pictures. It will help when you come across something really interesting that you want to shoot, but if you want good quality pictures, buy a digital camera! - For those not familiar with the Android OS, the Android Market has lots and lots of free applications that you can download and install in no time on your mobile; these applications range from Car Costs all the way to Google maps which brings me to the other feature. - The GPS works well it connects quickly to the satellite and displays your precise location on the Google map; you can of course install other GPS software, such as iGo. - The keypad takes a little time to get used to, but you are able to master it in about 2 hours (even if you dont have small finger tips J); after that you should be able to very easily text messages or type Internet addresses; the pad is also very logical and easy to use. - The two buttons under the screen are very useful, especially when wanting to make a phone call during other activities, such as driving you KNOW that this button does this and the other one does that, and so theres no need to look at the screen all the time and be careful what icon you tap in order to initiate a phone call. While I am here, the roll ball between the two buttons is also very useful at selecting different items in a list and initiating operations on those. - It has a 3.5 mm jack socket which will come in handy when wanting to use other types of headphones than the ones supplied. The bad parts: - The worst bug that I found until now is that it was impossible to send or receive files using its Bluetooth functionality. I tried this with two Sony Ericsson models, and I could not complete it. I am going to try this with a Nokia too, but Ive heard that other people have already complained about this, so it might be a bug. - You can only block the screen by pressing the power button (located on the upper edge). However, the auto-blocking time can be set (minimum 30 seconds). - The battery provided only about 8 hours of intense usage (Internet browsing, installing applications, playing, setting the phone etc.) - If you have missed calls and the mobile is in stand-by, it does not let you know about these - it does not light the screen or anything like that. Miscellaneous: - Dont compare it with an iPhone or some other very expensive phone. You will be disappointed. It is not that nice, but its 3 or 4 times cheaper (at least in Romania). Even if its a lot cheaper, it can still do maybe everything that an iPhone, HTC or other smartphone does. This is an honest gadget and most probably you will be happy that you chose this phone instead of another one that could have set you back hundreds of Euros. When buying this phone, you are not buying social identity and status. Instead, you buy a good, practical tool that will help in your daily activity just as well (or maybe better) as a SonyEricsson or a HTC, but at a price thats much lower. - I am not sure yet if it will be possible to upgrade the Android software to the new version (2.1). - Everybody who saw it found it to be a good phone for a correct price.

  • In deed was launched these days in Romania under the name of Orange Boston at a price around 100 EURO.

  • That is really really sad. In that case the phone does not worth it :(

  • batery life for normal use is about 8 to 24h. Never more than 24h if you use it! And if you really use it, even less than 8h.

  • here it is known as Boston, not Codfish. it would be unthinkable to name a mobile phone "bacalhau" (codfish), our most popular fish for making traditional dishes.

  • Codfish?? What the hell is CODFISH???

  • Please tell me how much is the battery holding with moderate use. Thank you

  • Hi, I bay this phone, for the price is a excellent equipment, i still wait for android 2.1 :) The camera comes without autofocus.

  • Thanks man ;)

  • As I know, you need root acces on any android phone the receive with bluetooth, but you can send with a free program from android market (I don't remember it). This is a small problem of the android, any version if I remember well.

  • batery is weak, using internet sync. only 8h!! youtube usage only 2h! GPS its good, but you need more batery's

  • Hy guys. I'm planning on buying this phone in the near future, but i want to set something straight... DOES BLUETOOTH FILE TRANSFER WORK on this phone? because i heard it has something to do with android 1.5 and 1.6. Please help me with this one... Thx :)

  • Not at this moment, but some rumours are going around that it will be upped to 2.1. I will not hold my breath waiting, anyway...

  • From my 4 days experience I could say I'am in love, by the phone, the OS...and the apps. For this price you will not find anything similar. Sure it could be improved, but for that you had to pay a lot more. The battery will drain fast, but that's because you will use'it a lot, and if you need something go to the Market..it's free. ;)

  • It's a Gigabyte, not a ZTE.

  • Hmm... can the Android on this device be upgraded to some newer versions?

  • Yes, there is a virtual keyboard.

  • The first time i saw that mobile i loved that, when i try to experiment that i enjoyed very much 'cause it have a lot of aplications and the GPS is excellent otherwise it is a very handsome device.

  • Nothing to do one with the other

  • Does is have a virtual QWERTY ?

  • I'm spanish and it costs 49 euro and it isn't a Gigabyte, it is a ZTE.Someone knows that it's got a upgrade?

  • This phone is officilay stopped from Gigabyte. They will not launch an Adroit phone for now.

  • i sort of see it, in the general shape and the trackball

  • They say it will soon launch in Romania ... G1305 is a Gigabyte GSmart Codfish renamed in Boston and created especially for Orange with Android OS f you sell subscriptions to 1 euro for 20 euro is very ok. Ok processor, RAM ok 5mpx camera, GPS, WiFi, Android ... I find a good deal. Finish does not seem too great, almost looks like the Chinese clone at first glance. But to see him in the Orange shop and then we can comment more. Probably like in France will cost 1 euro per month for certain subscriptions and UK 1 GBP subscriptions will cost over 35 GBP / month!

  • yea..its just you...

  • Is it me or does this phone look alot like the Nexus One?

  • oh looks good! could be a CHEAP contender for the htc legend? -low ram of 256mb -only android 1.6 :( Hope the camera is good... maybe a resistive screen if they wanna keep it cheap like the htc tattoo?

  • "Codfish"?! most unflattering name for a phone ever! Shame, it has a good design!

  • That is why it needs to be cheap to compete with other more powerful phones running android. Otherwise...

  • y android 1.6? design isnt bad tho, better looking than some htc phones, but specs r nothing special

  • well i think i am first... Keep it up Gigabyte
