Gigabyte GSmart G1310 - User Reviews

  • Agree with many of the bad comments on this product. I've had it for the last 18 months (and in the first 8 months I've had 3 comebacks to service. -> microphone problems, wifi not working, bad screen with big lags -> display replaced) (After 8 months the dealer removed the guarantee because of a scrath on the plastic shell...invoking the "bad treatment" motive). I'm using it today also...with no wifi...only with 3g...but I guess that by pure luck it has not yet given it's final breath). I usually read reviews before buying, but since this phone was one of the first dual sim android phones...I've took a chance...and it blew in my face. Do not buy Gigabyte phones my friends...stick to the pc motherboards.

  • This phone is a complete crap, I bring it back to the dealer today the 3rd time... I'm very sorry to have bought this phone. 1st phone: no charge if switched off 2nd phone: freezes if using WLAN and can't start afterwards 3rd phone: Touchscreen activates the bottom row without even touching it. -> DONT BUY!

  • Agree with the comments above. To make it short: this is a toy, not a phone. I normally have very little expectations from a phone, but this failed it all: - Audio: Speaker/mic getting randomly noisy to the point you can't hear/get understood. - Battery: Hardly lasting for more than a day (in standby). Also randomly discharging within 20 minutes without any apparent reason. - Stability: random restarts. Well, you are lucky if it restarts. So don't even consider using it as an alarm clock. - SIM availability: again random: the SIMs can be off network for an undetermined period of time and at any moment. Restarting the phone won't help. Once again, don't think of any professional use for this device. I am not going to mention the other "cosmetic" issues, since I would have easily overlooked it if this gadget would have matched my main expectation: being a phone. If you are looking for an Android dual SIM, have a look at the Samsung offer. They have much more reliable and mature products.

  • I was loyal to gigabyte in the past and have used this phone for almost 1/2 year with alot of problem that was not solved even after several contact over email with company, so I shifted to Samsung S6102. Now I can francly G1310 does not deserve the price you pay. samsung S6102 is much better in performance with half price and better after sale support every where. never back to GB.

  • same with me...they had to change mainboard in the service

  • Hello, I've got the G1310 (including ROM update V0.50.2_PL_CZ) and since a few weeks I've got a problem with it: - In sim-slot 1 there is a KPN-sim. If I make a call from it, the people on the other end cannot hear what I'm saying; only noice. If somebody calls on this slot1+KPN-sim, it works OK. - In sim-slot 2 there is a Vodafone-sim. It works OK (calling en being called). If I switch the sims in the other slots, they both work OK. But I want the KPN-sim in slot 1 because only that slot has 3G. What can I do? Thanks in advance.

  • dear KIWISCOLE what do you mean by one click root? and how to do it? thanks

  • Newer buy it! After 2 months of normal usage this phone went into a piece of crap: 1. Extremly annoying phantom taps, in many cases, I am even unable to do anything with it. This can't be solved with any update. It is simly a HW problem with touchscreen. If I touch touchscreen, and the screen starts moving left-right-left-right with a speed of fastest tennis ball on the world, than it is definitely NOT a software isssude. And I am not mentioning random poping-up objects from the bottom line of virtual buttons. 2. after 3 months of usage, people on the other side on the line can barrely understand what I am talking about. Microphone is almost dead. 3. weak battery. CONCLUSION: don't buy it.

  • You say about ROM update? I have bought this phone 3 days ago and upgraded to 0.35 and, then, to 0.46.1. The result? It takes more for the phone to charge than to discharge!!! i.e. charged from 10% to 35% in 3 hours!!!! discharged to 3% (turn off) in 90 minutes (wifi off, data transfer off, gps off, bluetooth off, 20 minutes calling time)

  • to solve over heating and battery issues, root the phone with OneClickRoot and delete "wether" and "people" apps. good luck

  • Specs are decent for an android dual sim phone of this price range. what SUCKS is that my laptop's battery can last longer compared to the phones bat! and the upper left part isn't snug fit so dust gets inside quite easily (even after installing a screen protector)

  • Is it a dual SIM in stand by or I just call from any card but I can not receive calls an both SIMs in the same day (if I have both SIMs in the phone) ?!

  • Can get v0.35.0 at the GSmart Club here: but currently only have a version for Eastern Europe.

  • Where can one get the version 35 software? My phone's main problem is the phantom taps (screen taps unitiated by the user). The new version may address this. thanks.

  • I have fixed all this problems with updating the softweare to version 35.

  • change your softweare to version 35 and this will fix your problem!

  • Hae 2u members. those who have bought this phone: do you have to reboot to access the sim2 applications menu? what is the internal storage size ? what is the 3g internet speed , 7.2mbps,or 3.6mbps or 10.2mbps ?

  • Hello, please contact me, I want to have more details about this phone. Thanks!

  • hsupa?

  • The short battery life on the phone is definitely a problem. Wit some normal usage, it will not last you 24hrs. Is there anywhere to buy a larger capacity spare battery?

  • Pro: 1. Have facilities that the manufacturer boasts that it has : DualSIm, Android 2.x, Wi-Fi, 3G ... And all are functional. 2. In conversation sounds clean and beautiful. 3. Looks good on the Wi-Fi network without disconect, or other bad things. Anti: 1. Slow, slow ... since the boot (over 1 minute to "desktop"). 2. Flash for pictures it`s a joke ... The pictures it`s not bad if you not would not see something like a fog when it triggers "flash". After all it's just a LED lights and stays lit when he belive it`s needed, not realy flashing. (I had no claim to it). 3. Filming would be good for some still-life, if revive and move through the frame at 15-20 frames per second even, the movie will be "framimg". 4. Play video files unless they are not have some high ratio for compression, otherwise you will be hear sound but then images will be delayed and jerky. HD? No way.:)) 5. Output of application must be made honestly, step by step, pressing the "red" while running something leads to blocks in 2 or 3 of 10 cases ( black screen) required reboot or wait for a minute and good to come to their senses. 6. Curiously, four quick buttons on the display are not lit at all. Is it made to be used only on the light? How do you "back" or "home" in the dark? This I have seen phones like "replica" made you wonder what ships and ocean ... Gigabyte to have changed based on high? : D 7. 528MHz processor not help at all, not far from the 460MHz that are equipped "replica" noname phones. 8. Find GPS satellites very difficult. 9. No sensitivity setting for display only the brightness. 10. G-sensor reacts increasingly slower as it heats up during use phone, heating hardly not being justified by the "speed" of his 528 MHz processor . (very hot on the back, after 15-20 min of using) Conclusion: After two days of use, disappointed overall discrepancies between what the manufacturer promised in terms of performance and what came out, I returned without any wrench and ordered a Samsung I9001 which I hope does not disappoint me. If this is a normal function of the device it`s not good for Gigabyte, they have much to work to become competitive in this segment. About Battery I can not say, time is too small to give a verdict (only two days).

  • Overall pretty neat. The two sims work well. The phone does have FM radio - thank goodness! The battery is somewhat short-lived - not ideal. The proprietary microUSB connector is unforgivable! Using an ordinary usb cable with a microUSB adapter does not work! Why would any product designer do an unethical thing like that???

  • After a couple of weeks from my first comment, my phone starts to shut down by itself. Again, my phone is 1 month 3weeks old. I'll have it checked within the week and post another comment.

  • Anyone please tell me where is this phone available....cheers

  • Please does anyone knows where I can buy this phone online? I've been searching for a site that sells but to no avail!!

  • I've had this phone for a month now and so far, everything's good. It's not as fragile as it looks, and other than the speakers, battery and some game lags, this phone is A-okay. It is after all a phone that stands up to its purpose. Although there are some gaming issues, it doesn't heavily affect the phone's overall performance. I don't mind the speaker issue since I don't use the speakers at all (I know it'll drain the battery more), and the battery issue is bearable as well. If a long trip's planned, you may switch it to airplane mode when not in use. Apps such as JuiceDefender (which I use) is quite effective as well. Bottom line, battery management is dependent on the user. I hope this helps.

  • is it a dual sim dual standby phone?

  • you can export your contact to Gmail then import frmm gmail to android it works with me easly

  • what would u like to sync? Is it mails, contacts or calender?

  • Is there an app i can use to sync my outlook email here?

  • I'm a bit dissapointed with this phone. Some major downsides are: * Battery Life (on a busy day 3 recharges) * Bluetooth connection is really bad. When using in a carkit the other party cannot hear what i'm saying. * Dust gathering behind the glas. After only a week of usage the dust gathering is noticeable.

  • How do you disable 1 of the simcards? I cannot find this option in the menus. Anyone?

  • box is 16 x 10 x 9 cm, total weight is 500 grams

  • G1310 OWNERS, pls i need a favor. what are the dimensions and weight of this mobile box?? the overall dimensions and gross weight...... i am going to import it, so shipping companies requesting these info, dimensions and gross weight pleeessseee...... thanks in advance..

  • in Bulgaria.... have a good luck

  • Does anyone know wher I can buy this in the Bulgaria? Thanks.

  • no fm radio... fail!

  • Jagmeet, pls why do u call it useless? Kindly explain your experiences with using the phone. Thanks a million.

  • useless 3g phone without secondary camera

  • Does anyone know wher I can buy this in the UK? Thanks.

  • Yep, the same problem. I hope Gigabyte fix it.

  • Hello all, I have 2 issues with the voicemail number : => First, it seems not possible to setup different voicemail number for each SIM. => Second, voicemail number is lost after each reboot and have to be configured again. Do you confirm ?

  • In reply to comment below. Possibly i have just been lucky with the one i got, but it still has not reboted on its own even once. I have it on with 2 sims since i got it ( have had it turned off maybe 5 times to change sim or after installing app ) I talk probably around 30 minutes every day, 15-30 mins gprs and 15-30 mins wifi. I also use the music player ocationally. With this use i have had at least 24h battery life.

  • Hi Everybody, I have a question about the Dualsim function. Second sim goes offline if I make a call with the first one right? When I activate push mail on the first sim, or I use the webbrowser the secont one goes offline right? Thanks

  • Hello Tubsi, it seems that you do not use the phone that much. My friend complains that the battery does not last up to 16 hrs with about 80 minutes of talktime during that 16hrs. This was observed with no wifi,no data and no GPS. His other friend too complains of the same. In fact he says the phone reboots on its own at least once or twice daily. The phone seems to have some issues.

  • dear gambit, .... shipping cost from Philippine is cheaper than many other country. could u pls mention some big outlets or retailers with their contacts, emails or web site, so i can send my courier to any of them to get for me. thanks in advance.

  • I have had it for a few weeks now and it has not hung or shut down on me yet. The second sim tends to drop sometimes when the first is in use. Reconnects after! If you have data, wifi, gps etc. all on simultaneous i would guess you use up the battery in 6 hours or so. I talk, use wifi, gps and data a little every day, and it lasts around two days. I charge it every night though.

  • here you can find it. www.alza.cz www.czechcomputer.cz I am sure that they will send it to overseas.

  • I installed Juice Defender and now able to use it the whole day with two SIMs without recharging. It's stable and fast enough for internet browsing, navigation, music, movies and office work but not for some games. Angry birds is playable if you turn off background graphics. The sound quality is excellent if you use PowerAmp Music player instead of the one that comes with the phone. Hope that helps.

  • Can anyone comment on the battery life and software stability of this phone. I have heard that it has a very poor battery life and that it hangs and shut down on its own quite frequently. Also pls confirm that it does not drop the signal on one sim card often

  • It's got two independent radio modules but only the first SIM has 3G HSDPA, the second SIM is regular GPRS.

  • thanks my gigabyte friends, (gambit,Anonymous and Anonymous) i sent them all email of my request. to get how much shipping details, and if they ship overseas. meanwhile any further info will be appreciated :-)

  • I bought it in Kiev a few days ago from (went to their shop). So far I am very happy with it!

  • try www.speedshop.hu. on the top right corner you can find their contact details.

  • you can buy it in the Philippines... It is rebranded by Cherry Mobile. It is also known as Cherry Mobile Orbit in the Philippines.. This phone has great features and very user-friendly..

  • Gents, any body can help? i need to purchase it. i checked agent in india, out of stock. in romania, they do not send overseas. i am sending to gigabyte, they do not sell online....... any one knows where it is sold in india? or any other place where online overseas is available????? thanks for any favor

  • great for the price. got it @ 50% off. Android assitant + launcher pro made my battery last for 24hrs and still got 16%. minor usage(text messaging) wifi off, gsm only.

  • not good 0ne

  • Hello, Living in France, I got mine from "speedshop.hu". Delivery took no more than 5 days. The product is great, but only with 2 little issues : => Plastic seems very "cheap" and fragile. May need a protection case to carry it. => Battery is quickly discharged unless you shut down all extra features : GPS, BlueTooth, 3G automatic mail push / sync, etc... My global opinion : very positive.

  • friend of mine bought for me from Romania about 210 euro

  • In Czech Republic this phone is already in sales now. You can check it on (its translated link via google). If the battery life was longer I'd have bought it:(.

  • Apparently this phone uses only one radio GSM modem. I think I saw it has only one IMEI number which would confirm that. The firmware must use some sort of multiplexing between sim1 and sim2 using single radio communication module. Some people report that even the phone is online, sometimes one of the SIMs is actually not online, and the other party calling you can hear the same message as if you were out of network coverage. That would also confirm that sometimes using only one radio GSM modem cannot always be used simultaneously to confirm "being online" to both operators.

  • This answers your question... NOTE: Cautions of Usage: 1. Only ONE SIM card exist at one time when making phone call or internet browsing. 2. Network supporting: (a). SIM 1: 3G (WCDMA) (b). SIM 2: 2G (GSM) most likely you can set up call transfer from one SIM and "knocking" feature for the SIM you transfer your calls in...

  • where to buy and official release

  • Can someone confirm if this phone supports simultaneous calls on both SIMs? Or if I have a call on one SIM then the other becomes unavailable?

  • so, Q2 is now over and still no news on release in major EU countries. This is one annoying bugger...

  • when can we have this phone comes in Portugal or Europe?

  • Available in Romania

  • where did you buy it? how easy is it to upgrade to a new version of android?

  • cant wait to get my hands on it

  • Hi, i'm from france and i'd like to buy this phone. Could you tell me where you bought yours?

  • when can we have this phone comes in Europe?

  • I Own this. Gigabyte GSmart G1310 or Cherry Mobile Orbit -DualSIM, DualActive! Both sims working at the same time, -1 to 1.3 days at most, battery use. Short yes but you get DualSIM on Android. If you want more juice, turn off one sim or buy another android phone. -5MP camera works best at sunny hours of the day. -Android Froyo 2.2 is very responsive. -During my entire experience, i had, blue screen of death, hang ups and no display where i needed to unearth the battery off the phone, minor lag in the keyboard response but for some reason the phone magically fixes itself after a reboot. *kisses phone* -no optical trackpad -about 2-3 hours charge time. -unable to find qualcomm driver for PC sync. -slept on the side on it, sat on it, sweat on it, a bit of light rain, moist pants on it, still works! 300 USD after taxes, bought it 50% first day sale! I love it so much!

  • Kabobo mo naman GYM. You compare something that has a 1Gig CPU to something that only have 528meg. And this is a true rebranded phone by cherry from a china company were gigabyte also get their products. Or maybe gigabyte made it and cherry rebranded it for Philippine market. Tatanga tanga naman.

  • Thanjks for the reply, I still have the problem that I am in Australia, and I cant visit a CM outlet. I'd be happy to upgrade the firmware myself if I had a ROM to flash.

  • Already released here in the Philippines but with another brand. Cherry Mobile Orbit cost around 7000php about 167USD

  • For all those who arent sure YES this is dual standby. This phone is already marketed in the Philippines under the name and brand Cherry Mobile Comet.

  • @kiwiscole if you purchased your phone from cherry mobile you can upgrade your firmware check the link below.

  • I Have the phone (orbit) It is dual active (I dont know why they use the term dual standby for this) Both sims are conected simultaniously. It works very well, but yes the battery dies too quick. Apparently there is a firmware update but I cant get it from Australia. Only at cherry mobile in the phillipines. Good phone.

  • I could be wrong, but I believe they are taking that information from this site, which just doesn't mention whether or not it is dual standby. I haven't seen anything saying it wasn't going to have dual standby. I have a hard time believing it wouldn't be dual standby, which really isn't that great anyway. We should be clamoring for dual active (and better batteries).

  • Based on one fellow say is Dual Standby : No But he deleted his post.

  • And what are you basing this comment on? Have you seen the phone and checked that this is true?

  • No Dual Standby thats really bad move. Switching my target to Viewsonic V350 now instead.

  • The cherry mobile orbit is just the OEM of the product, So the quality of it would suck rather than the original product. My brother has a samsung i9000 and angrybirds doesnt lag when he plays it but a review on the Orbit said that it barely handles angrybird so dont compare the Orbit phone to the G1310.

  • Where did you got the phone from?

  • Mine lasted less than 12 hours

  • from full charge, mine only last for 1 day.. i dont know why,, it says it will lasts 115 hours on standby time.. are having the same problem?

  • to other G1310/Orbit users, how long does your battery life last? from a full charged state.

  • Hahaha this phone is Cherrymobile Orbit in the Philippines..

  • This model will be sold around 10th of June in Bulgaria. This is information from the importers for our region. Expected price will be 185-190 euros

  • @Gyumaou I'm planning to buy one on May 19. If so, I'll share my thoughts here and compare it to my Huawei Ideos U8150, which uses similar cpu.

  • in that case some actual user impressions would be more than appreciated before (if) it launches in Europe

  • great specifications, great option for samsung star duos 3g , coming with android os.,but there is no front camera for videocall.

  • Ukraine is already available 285 USD! also available 1317 - 249USD

  • it's already launched but with different brand name & model in Philippine.. it's Cherry Mobile Orbit. Refer

  • its a great phone while using its component its amazing/ now present time its my favourite phone

  • Interesting to hear that the 1310 should be released in the next fortnight. Have you picked this up from any particular source?

  • I bought the DSTL1 almost 2 years ago. They don't sell t anymore, but you can still get it branded as MyPhone A320. The GSmart G1310 should be released within a couple of weeks. The little worse (resistive display, bad camera) brother G1317 is already available.

  • that's very true - I am beginning to suspect that the gigabyte and blu magic units will never be more than spec sheets. The viewsonic v350 appears more tangible - but I still haven't seen a formal release date or pricing structure?

  • The g1310 and blu magic 2 may never materialize. Look what happened to the last dual sim android.. the General Mobile DSTL1 was announced 2 years ago -- still no phone.

  • perhaps mostly people in here, wanting the same thing, just plain dual sim with 3G support and Wifi, as for blue magic 2, i don't know about the specs or the price, none of them is out in the market, so still here we are, waiting...

  • Found another alternative. BLU Magic 2.

  • the viewsonic looks interesting - but may be more expensive than the g1310 (if that ever arrives)!, and some reports are unsure about build quality. I am waiting for conformation and would love a decent android dual sim phone with 3g and wifi. Not much to ask really - but the manufacturers are just not getting there quickly enough.

  • looking for alternative..... found 1, viewsonic v350, how come gsmarena doesn't have viewsonic, they should add it.

  • I find the GSmart answer to a email sended by a Android Forum User: Thank for your mail and inquiry Our new Android devices are estimated to be launced in Europe in this May. However, the detail sale plan has not yet be released. Nevertheless, all the update news (for worldwide sales) will be updated in our official web site below. You may also check at your convenience. GSmart Thanks again for supporting of GSmart products. Please feel free if any further help needed. Best Regard, GSmart

  • Today is 3rd April 2011 and nothing new for this mobile ??

  • I start to believe this is a "VapourPhone". Always the same pictures all over web ... nothing new ... no news! End of March (1Q) and nothing available. I'm starting look for alternatives.

  • pl help me to buy this mobile, from where i can get it phone no.etc

  • yeah... and nothing on google either. someone should press gigabyte for info. there's nothing on their pages (it's funny how UK doesn't have its own page for mobile phones but poland russia or Czech Republic do). i'm interested in this phone but if it delays too long I'll just go for something else...

  • 1- Where is made? 2- How to buy? 3- Does it have Arabic capability? 4- Is it freindly use with Laptop and PC? Thank you for such useful product.

  • it`s 7 march and still nothing about the release date yet :-

  • when is the release date for europe???

  • Is there any other non-china brand dual sim quad-ban mobile know of???? then this will do ,,,,

  • i saw that the specs of the processor are similar cu htc wildfire, and looking at some youtube videos with that phone, it seems to do well. anyway, we`ll have to wait and see.

  • The ARM11 core was first announced in 2003(!). No superscalar execution, no deep pipeline, or a large cache. Its old and creaky, but its cheap.

  • Wait, wait, wait...

  • You have bought this phone and from you own experience you say it is a slow operating phone. Is that correct ? Or you are just commenting on the specifications posted on this website? Thank you :)

  • hm.. march tomorrow- and no sign of the release.. it gonna be a crappy tradition of the past years always shift the release date

  • it's not the best. running android with a slow processor is the worst experience ever. read the specs first. I was also exhilarated when I saw it the dissapointment followed.

  • according to these specs this telephone is the one of the best of all times..android+dual sim fantastic!it fulfills all of my needs..what do you think, will it be aveable in all european countries markets??

  • it's a pity that FM radio is missing

  • The expected release is this month! When do they actually want to release it? Anticipation is high!!

  • Camera / Secondary / No What do you think?

  • THe main diferences between G1310 and G1317 are : - resistive on G1317 ans capacitive on G1310 - only dual-sim stand-by on G1317 and full dual-sim on G1310 (simultaneous) - 16M colors on G1317 and 256 on G1310 On the last point, why such a difference ? Is it an error in the specifs otherwise why ?

  • yes you can receive calls/texts to both sims (that's what Dual SIM (Dual standby) is. though for making calls you obviously have to choose which sim to use.

  • Does it have front camera?

  • Does it have a flash next to the camera?

  • I just want to know if I can receive and make calls on both lines and the SIM cards can even be from separate network operators. In short, both SIM cards are simultaneously active.

  • Does it have an ambient light senzor?

  • Will it be possible to upgrade Android on this phone in the future?

  • I love G1317, but it is resistive touch which is outdate and difficult to use, by the way the width of these phone is too big (60mm), it should be b/t (45-50mm).

  • reason i asked, i don't see a "Dual Standby" listed on the specs as G1317. thanks for the info.

  • It is dual sim and has dual sim standby of course :)

  • i like it.... i want to get it... does anyone know how much would it be and what carrier

  • why this phone is not dual standby as the g1317?

  • Does anybody know the expected price?

  • i will buy this phone if it costs 200euro max

  • Every phone will not have the same specifications. People use phones for different purposes in addition to the traditional call making. I love this phone's specs, but I wish it had the same specs for both SIM cards. 3G, GPS, & WiFi. It will be the best one out there if it shows up soon enough. Gigabyte, pay attention! We are salivating.

  • Could've been a good dual SIM phone, too bad for that CPU which is way too slow and outdated, and also 512MB of RAM would've been much better...

  • 99% of what 3G Network will be supported by only one SIM card

  • if they sell it in Europe, and it has a medium range price, they will sell lots of these phones.

  • it is nothing

  • Yeah, your brain is crappy for sure!!

  • Great value! :)

  • looks crappy

  • AHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!! what is so hard about putting 3G on both sim card slots?????

  • I would like to have one G1310 or one G1317. The question is will this phone be widely available or will it be a regional market distributed phone? I remember the S1205. It was not anywhere to be found in Nigeria. So will G1310 or G1317 be available in Nigeria when they roll out?

  • they are not gonna sell many of them

  • -wow.! i'm impress with the specs.!! lol.
