I have this fone for more than 1 and 1/2 years and did not experience any problem using it wether in my country and roaming to other countries.this fone really is one of the greatest that i had and will never change it or sell it.this phone records a very good quality mpeg4,can play full movie(DVD converted to mpeg4 using pinnacle studio) which most phones has no capability to play,has fm,stereo speakers,with flash,mp3,can use downloaded themes and wallpapers and great design.

This has beeen my dream fone for a year now but it has never made it uk,,its got everything i want in my favorite design clamshell..I could have got it sim fre from expansys but they were asking over �400 for it.Does anybody really know why some handsets get chosen by carriers and then they flog them like mad yet some really brilliant handsets like clamshell n92 never make it to uk and the likes,,but like the d600 the d900 are pushed to death here in uk and every carrier just so happens to choose all the same models,,do they put them in a hat and draw them out and say rite we will stock this model..Make the z710 mass markwet

The only bad thing about this phone is the analogue external display :S it is a flaw in its design, and a digital display with message received icon would have suited it much better.

this is actually the most stylish and sexiest phone at the present. yes, it is true that the picture is not good but in personal it is so beautiful. The video recording will take up until one hour. you choose resolution by 320x240 which is very quite good you can connect to TV, FM function also. your video can be transferred also to your Ipod Video. If you buy new, there are no tv-out cable or headset but it is the same accessories with samsung d900.

This an awesome phone, the only problem is it isnt available in all countries. You guys are saying that its available in Europe, unfortunatly its not in the UK. It sucks. I work in a mobile retailer and the z710 isnt even on our systems, for me to get this phone, it means a daytrip to france. and when i bring it back where the roaming rates would be stupid. Maybe i should move to france...Oh i wish i had this phone.....The best samsung we have is the d900. le sigh. x

it has all the features to be fully utilised in the uk where i live but no one has taken it on as yet & is as widely available as free gold nuggets .It does have tv-out but like my d900 ive bought you have to trawl the dingy side of life in back streets & unknown 3rd party persons to get the tv out cables,,its bloody awful ill tell you ,,,they do not supply the cables & then they dont seem to rudy make them & many times ive emailed samsung about tv cables for the e770 that in the end i never bought the fone.I love clamshells but getting one with tv output is limited to n93 sharp 903 but samsung have got it made right here but will it to be without tv cables & judging by this forum it can only be bought at pixmania so im off there now to see

@RI 3.15 MP, interpolated to 6MP--means the camera takes a picture at 3.15mp resolution and then enlarged it to the size as big as a image taken by a 6mp camera by adding new pixels to it (they use some advance calculation to pick up better pixels not just add the one next to it, that way the filan picture looks smooth not just an enlarged one). Note that the amount of photo information hasn't changed its still same as 3.15mp. You can do the same in photoshop. I dont know whats the deal with xCute phones. the calmshell looks funy lesser gun type IMO and Im not sure if their screen has VGA640x480 16m colors.

SE,Samsung,Sharp, and Lg have applied CCD sensors in their mobile phones already.. i saw one of the pics of them by SE S700i compared to Nokia 6630 and i found out the real thing about CCD's effectiveness... Surely once CCD is installed in a mobile phone camera, it will be gorgeous.. one fault i saw in Nokia is they use Carl-Zeiss without using CCD sensor.. if ever any Brand applied CCD to all 3mp to higher pxel cameras. it will blow up CCD for sure...

@Rick Z710 uses CCD matrix. there are very few camera phone with CCD matrix lense like Sharp 903SH..which is one of the best camera phone.but well never been reviewed or compared. The majority of competitors like K800/K750/N73/N93 even D900 apply CMOS solution..the quality is said to be nearly the same but energy consumption proves to be less in CCD.Thats why I wanted to see a comparsion between CCD and CMOS solutions. and NO website did that yet. Some interesting features in D900:it has a inbuild mobile tracking freature. Incase its been stolen and that person uses another sim card it will send a sms to a pre-assigned number (set by you) telling you whats the new number...but getting your phone back will depend on which country ur from and what kinda technology your police department uses to locate it..hehe. but im sure it will give you some relief. next is, it has a interactive background that gets darker as the day passes by and becomes night scene at the end of the day..impressive IMO.Someone says it has some heat sensors or something. Dont know for sure. You will be buying the phone , so you should be the one to decide. Here are some links to check the camera quality of D900 and Z710. Camera review of D900 Review of Z710: Last point: There are many people who bought D900 and there are serious discussion going on in D900 foroum here or in mobile-review site. you can find most of the sloutions if you read them thoroughly. But Samsung is paying so little attention to Z710 so much so that it didnt even make an impact in the market. Those who has it, not posting anything good or bad. If you buy it and (I hope not but)face any problems..chances are no one will be there to halp you sort out..you have to call service center. Personally I loved both. I never had a calm shell with Swivel screen, so i dont know how stable they are but Z710 looks so adorable. Its your call now. Cheers and best of luck.

Kal i saw mobile-review's n73 camera review and it ties up with K800, and n93 as i was very shocked... makes blurry macros while D900 performs good in every department.. really if you see D900's color it's just similar to K800 which both makes natural photos... but then i was happy with the results.. though it's the first cybershot from SE, they make it good.. and Samsung did it's job for balacing everthing so that people cannot call it only a digicam but an excellent mobile phone...

@Rick You asked a very difficult question. Z710 is a calm shell camera phone with ccd lense. No one compared its camera with anyone other brands. I dont know why. It looks pretty much like a digital camera. D900 is a slim slider with 3.2mp camera and its already tested against N73 and K800 and in my opinion it did great considering its slimness...the color is ok..sometimes not good enough..you might have to adjust it in photoshop.over all nice phone..there are some confusion about the sound volume...you need to take off the plastic screen protector..coz its blocking the speakers. N73 is a dull looking bar phone in my opinion..but its s smart phone. Its 3.2mp CZ camera takes vivid colored pictures...nokia fans going ga-ga over it saying its the best ever..little did they know that its post processing the pictures..taking out all the noise and grains in the pictures and filling it up with same color..making it look like its clear and clean...sometimes adding too much color though. But as a phone this will surely have advantage as its a symbian smart phone...will cost you $100 extra as well. so its upto you. about Z710 and A990...A990 is CDMA version of Z710...and its carier specific..so the service provider might take out certain features..or make you buy their own services.

i do like z710's design, and i hated n93's design though it has a good camera, forget mentioning K800 which is a real digital in terms of it's equipment. it's a puzzle for me before coz K800 has xenon flash, cybershot programs, high ISO sensitivity and bestpic which is found at my DSC-S40 only lacks good video(my s40 has VGA recording at 30fps), N93 takes all Carl-zeiss technology(including VGA recording which sends it to be the best video phone) and this Z710 which uses CCD, if those camera technologie were put into one phone in NOKIA or SE, or even SAMSUNG, then this will be a real all out war of camera phones.. i've already saw those pictures with my eye from my NOKIA/SAMSUNG/SE lover friends, save it in my computer and compare it to my S40 and still, DIgital camera is Far better than any of those phones, if ever SE will put all cybershot features including video then it's a real challenge for all phones out there for sure,.. but i remember that those are not digicams but cellphones...hehe SAMSUNG is doing good with Z710's overall features, only lacks radio.. hehe!

ok, a few questions on this phone: 1. Can you change the bootload animation? 2. can you place animated gifs as wallpaper that still animates? 3. Do animated gifs lag? 4. Can you change the wallpaper on the smaller screen on the cover? 5. Can you flip the phone open with your thumb and not twist the cover? Yes, I know these questions are very trivial, yet considering how my V3x can't do any of the things i asked for (except for no. 5, obviously), and older phones can do them effortlessly, it'd bring peace of mind if I can get a phone that at the very least runs smoothly, since I like this phone very much.

I bought it in Singapore last week for S1010.The design is superb and the keypad is great.Texting is easier compared to samsung local phones that I have here in Korea.The package has no english manual which I hope will be available soon.

Samsung really need to bring this phone out now - they have stiff competition on the market now. If they fail to bring it out in a month or so, it will be too late. Many of the current phones are at this standard. Samsung are falling behind the 8 ball.

Also, k800 may win when it comes to headphones but if you haven't noticed,most k-series phones don't have 3.5 jacks.That's because k-series phones were meant to play music through loudspeaker mainly to play music while using the internet.If you want a music phone just get a walkman.

You must known that sony dont make phones, the company that make phones is a joint venture between sony and ericsson and named sony ericsson. Ericsson is a leader in wireless tech, and for it have the most list of patents in the world, follow by nokia Ericsson sells technology to your beloved samsung, sells circuits maps, wireless tech (GPRS, EDGE, UMTS, Bluetooth), and like samsung other manufacturers buy tech from ericsson like LG, sagem, etc. Your beloved Bluetooth is an ericsson invention in SIG (Special Interest Group), ericsson develop this tech and brings bluetooth phones long time ago (the excellent ericsson T39m) The clamshell and slider design were first in motorola and siemens respectively, isnt a samsung property and i say that motorola make a revolution with RAZR series, for it samsung, LG and others follow this successful design. You have your own tastes, but overall K800 is a better phone than Z710

First off, Sony is a great brand!!! IN TV'S and RADIO'S and other home electronics. Not in phones. They're phone's are garbage!!! Just cause the camera is slightly better in the K800, who cares. They're both 3.2 megapixels. Thats what Sony's known for, their camera's. But Samsung is known for their quality phones. They're better than any other phones out there. They look better, perform better, and are more unique than other phones. I mean who the hell is into bar phones these days. It's lame. It would annoy the hell out of me if i had to lock the phone everytime i wanna put it in my pocket or case. Clamshell is the way to go and to sthrengthen htat, they put a twist on it. Samsung basically came out with the first megapixel rotating camera and sliding phones. And god Nokia's are huge. Nice but huge. Samsung kills any other brand out there. Just cause there Samsung doesnt have IR who cares. Who the hell needs IR these days. Everything is bluetooth, computers, cars, headsets, etc. You dont see a headset with IR lol. I mean people get with the program, SAMSUNG has better quality phones and they sure are better lookin than most phones. Ok i admit that Motorola stunned "the world" with the Razr and Slvr series but the phone's are terrible, camera sucks, and its the slowest phone possible. @Gagbag Z710 is YOUR better choice, not the better choice. Both phones have the same features, but these features are better in SE K800, K800 is more orientated to camera than Z710, this is the reason of image stabilizer, xenon flash, best pic and others. Z710 has CCD camera matrix, but it isnt indicative of better job in a camera, I remember to all people that professional SLR cameras uses CMOS matrix, and K750 in comparing with samsung P750 2MP CCD camera, K750 wins in all aspects. The new JAVA Plattform (JP-7) MIDP 2.0 in SE K800 allow to programmers write java aplications to manage camera functions, and make games in QVGA resolution with 30fps without hardware acceleration. And about screens, Z710 has bigger screen (2.15 inch). In comparisson the screen is in the same level in colour rendition with K800 screen (2.0 inch) Bluetooth 2.0 EDR in SE vs Bluetooth 1.2 in Z710 Conclussion: If you want nice design with average camera and functions go with Z710, otherwise, if you want better functions and better camera choose K800 or the upcomming nokia N73

In z710 features it says nothing about the camera having flash.But in the pics you can see one diode of flash.Rather poor when comparing it to the two diode xenon flash of the k800.But it is still not a huge disadvantage.As earlier said,k800 is a phone for people who put features first.But basically both phones have the same features.Simply stated,z710 is the better choice.

@Kal Sorry,I seemed to have speed-read the z710 features.I now realize why z710 is somewhat better than k800.The only disavantage is not having infrared.However,it is not such a big deal and can be excused by the cool design and excellent features.It is simply more innovative than k800.I would much rather this than k800 or N90.I'm not 100 percent sure abuot N93.

But ok, let's compare these two phones : Weight/Size : K800 is 8 grams heavier & 10 mm wider. That's a lot. Display : Samsung is known to produce quality screens than SE, since both hav a QVGA screen, Z710 should hav a btter display than K800i. MP3 Sound : K800 is better with the headset, Z710 has the advantage in speakers. Design : Undoubtedly, Z710 outclasses K800i. Camera : SE is known to produce quality pics but Z710 uses CCD Matrix which is better than CMOS which d K800i uses.So we cant tell which is d better one. Video : K800i is still with the ancient QCIF res, while Z710 will most likely have a CIF, like other samsung phones. K800i has infrared, Z710 has TV Out. Z710 has document viewer (excel, word) while SE has none. Z710 has 128MB internal memory, K800 has only 64MB.M2 cards are still unpopular, only 512MB will b available this year while micro-SD will hav 2Gb at the end of d year. The point is...samsung is making phones that are slim and good looking and they are compromising on the quality a little bit. Its not the best but good...and they have customer for that... This days they are coming up with models thats needs to be carried in shirt pocket not jeans pocket. Like me if you are ok with it, then go for it. Your problem is: K800 is a better phone than Z710 If your statements are true, �why samsung make phones like i series with HD?, its only to compete with iPod, nokia and SE music phones. If you follow your own statements you will buy a very cheap phone, with basic functions and no more. You will buy an alcatel or nokia 1100, only to make/receive calls and send sms. Samsung launch Z710 to compete with nokia and SE cam phones, putting 3,2MP CCD with autofocus only to make competence with other models, and obviously enter in a comparisson with these models, in addition share almost the same features. �Why not compare Z710 with K800 and N73?

K800 is a HUGE phone. If samsung would make a phone which has d size of K800, they would probably put all possible features that you can ask for.Samsung has 5 or 10 Megapixel camera phones (CDMA) but their size are still small.That's what people want in a phone. Only stupid people would prefer a big phone with so much features than a right-sized phone with enough features. @Kal Many laptops have IR port, a lot of cheap and mid range phones of SE, Siemens and Nokia have IR. ��Why dont put an IR to change photos, tones or others??? Only samsung and motorola refuse to use IR but the others manufacturers use it in almost all handsets including the latest advanced phones like N93. And if you talk about Bluetooth SE phones have better bluetooth compatibility and A2DP with EDR for energy saving.

@Gagbag You dont have to use the smaller external screen as viewfinder..you can use the big internal screen just by rotating it. Why dont you people read something before posting? Clamsell design protects the screen and you dont need to lock-unlock the phone every now and then. It has more advantage than candybar design. Can anyone post why they still need Infrared??? I would like to know why we need it..blutooth is the future. and I dont see equipment with infrared to work with a cell phone. Please post.

This is a pretty good phone,but I doubt it will beat k790/k800 because of these simple 'flaws': 1)No infared 2)No bestpic which k800 has 3)the fact that z710 is a clamshell and the external screen used as the viewfinder is rather small. And that k800 is the first cybershot labelled phone.

I say boring because samsung release a LOT of models with almost the same design long time ago! This is a fact, it isnt a opinion. SE produce candybars, simple design, minimalist, a practical phone with great functionality, top class camera and features. And K750 isnt an ugly phone, is black, sober design and well sized phone, i wait the same about K800. I share with you the opinion that samsung has the best designs in the phone industry, but it isnt enough for me when i buy a phone, but this is a valid market strategy (moto V3i case, a best seller with poor features and good design)

K800 beats Z710 not only in photografic part, is better in bluetooth compatibility (2.0 with EDR), better in mp3 player (like w800/w900/w810), better in java performance (MIDP 2.0), better in sound quality (package comes with top class headphones). Comes with a true flash for night shots and image stabilizer, best-pic, pict bridge, infrared port, netfront web browser, radio with RDS; and combines all features with cyber-shot technologies and branding. With these qualities i think that Z710 only beat K800 in design, but for me it isnt important, most important is the feature set in a phone. K750 is a best seller in top class, no other phone can compete with it, including Nokias N90 brick with carl zeiss and samsung boring sliders hahahaha!!

just spotted a SCH-A990 over at engadget.com... basicly it looks to be a CMDA version of the Z710, with one vital diffrence. multimedia keys! basicly they have put a trio of keys on the right side of the phone, right under the hinge. back, forward and play/pause. i only hope to the gods of mobiles that samsung did a last minute addition to the Z710. and btw, yes there is a photo light on this mobile. but i fear that it will be not much better then any other thats currently available.

SE K800's design sucks. It's not worth comparing it to Z710. It's a typical bar phone with a horrible joystick, it's huge. If you compare these two handsets side by side, K800 will look cheaper. Let's give K800 the benefit of d doubt on camera results but it still not enough to outclass Z710.Samsung is still the best when it comes to incorporating advanced features into a small phone. Nokia & SE may have the first in innovations but putting it into a good-looking, compact phone is another story. Until now, no model from SE/Nokia can match Samsung E730/D500's size & features.Think about it.

To the unknown, Yes I like Samsung phones. Why not? As "ABC" said it depeneds on personal prefrenece..to me samsung gives us lot of options in form factor and designs to chooose from.To me Samsung is best is designing good looking phones with features. The features might not be the best in market..but well to me its a phone first...so it has to be presentable. Then please dont post expart comment like "K800 beat Z710 in camera features..." Nobody did a side-by-side comparision. I wonder why all these site do camera comparison between SE and Nokia phone?? When it comes to camera Samsung is just after SE. Nokia is way after Samsung. They should compare SE and samsung camera. I have seen pictures taken by Samsung P850 some of them looks way better than even SE phone. Why there is no comparision between p850 and K800??? Today I dont view any comparing side by side between K800 and Z710, but probably K800 beat Z710 because Image stabilizer, xenon flash, best pic and other cyber-shot technologies. Z710 has CCD sensor but it isnt indicative of better quality in pics. K800 is a great phone with a lot of other features like walkman player, better work with java, better work with bluetooth devices and others. The only disavantage is video recording, that is in QCIF mode, but the standard user uses camera a lot more than the video record function.

@Tarantula I would like to see the comparison...where did you get it from? As far I know mobile-review didn't do any side-by-side comparison, they have just thought that its not as good as K800. If camera is so impotant, then why there is no mention of Samsung P850? Why ther is no comparison..just becoz samsung didnt release them worlwide or diditn do much publicity??Have you seen pictures taken by P850??? hare are some Persoally I look for a phone with other features. Not a camera or mp3 player with phone features. May be k800 has good camera but SE has only one bar phone design, one calmshell and now one slider design. Samsung beats every one in designing. I like the look & weight of this phone. It doesn't have the best camera, video or OS but it's quite stylish. I myself am going for the N93. This phone is rather ordinary in comparison. Nice phone though because more contenders in the top range of camera phones can't be a bad thing, espeicially when the N93 is gonna cost a lot more money.

This is definitely my dream phone. It was every single feature I would want my phone to have AND it's small, sleek and absolutely gorgeous. I would buy it in a second. One problem though. Does anyone know if this phone will be released in the US? I've seen articles about a "Samsung A990" for Verizon Wireless, which seems to be the US version of this phone. Dont think this one has Symbian. However I wanna add that I have a D720 (symbian series 60).Samsung doesn't have expertise in symbian OS. They are using nokia licensed symbian in D720/D730 and its kinda slow.There is no support from Samsung either. I'm getting help from Nokia forum. You can have a lot of features even without symbian,..like in D500/D600. In my opinion it would be much faster and better if this doesnt have symbian.

I dont get your point. Carema always has lense on the left,shutter on the right (when you are using it horizontaly as a cemera). ...and about using that small external screen as view finder??? why you need that? I think you havent noticed that you can flip the screen 180 degrees and use it. Check the pics in the link and you will know what Im saying: IT'S NOT A MISTAKE!

It's great... EXCEPT one fatal mistake! take a look at where the camera lens is located, then the angle of the screen, now imagine how awkward it'll be to shoot pics with this cam phone... FATAL MISTAKE!!! Of course you can shoot with the phone closed using the external screen as the view finder... but that's just not such a good idea either...

But samsung's 7-10mp will not be launched on the gsm market whereas lg is planning to launch 5mp in a few months.Sharp concentrates only on screen and camera quality whereas samsung has a good overall performance.But we dont know if the cam on this fone will be able to compete with the Sharp 903 and even the SE K790/800i which is also a good camfone

I admit the sharp is not well known but sharp phones will always have the best cameras on the market in terms of image quality.Samsung announces superb phone but the best ones are not released for unknown reasons.Now it will have to face the 5mp camera of the LG phone if it is released.

Finally a nice camera phone with an operating system. I love my D600 but the one thing that really has me down about it is the lack of symbian. I really love using the camera and video on it and have had a blast but I need symbian in my life. So many great applications, so this phone will definitely be great for me if it turns out well.

Well I just got my first samsung phone the d600 and I have been very pleased with it thus far. Camera and screen are great and speakers are pretty good as long as not too much bass present in song (then you have to adjust the equalizer). Only thing I wish the D600 had was symbian, so maybe I'll get this a bit after it comes out. First experience with samsung phone though has been wonderful and exeeded my expectations of the phone and will probably get this one a bit after it comes out. Just my two cents.

looks like a copy of sharp 903 it only got some improvements on some specs. but i think technology wise sharp is still ahead of samsung. z710 may have improved in terms of smaller dimension, fm radio, symbian OS (not verified yet), and external display. however sharp 903 has 2x optical zoom, larger screen display (2.4"), excellent quality of the screen having sharp's AQUOS technology used mainly for their tv's, and sound technology powered by yamaha. and i think being a japanese manufactured device will also give you additional peace of mind in terms of the quality. but they say that korean phones are great too! this could be a good competition.

to me the z710 enters the fray as the second best phone on the western market behind only the nokia n80. it's only apparent omission being the lack of external music keys, which is the only thing keeping this phone from being perfect.

cif video recording resolution is the same as D600, only improvement seems to be 3.2mp instead of 2mp camera and FM radio, big deal. LG KG920 has 5mp camera with VGA video recording at 30 fps, that's 4x bigger video or DVD quality. Samsung needs to put better video recording on their phones, no reason to get this instead of LG KG920.

VIDEO RESOLUTION?? Why doesn't gsmarena.com give video recording resolution for all their phones, that's the most important thing now since 3.2 or 5 or 8 megapixels doesn't matter any more. It's unbelievable, some phones have qcif resolution, others are literally 16 times bigger and twice as fast, or 32 times better video, which is VGA resolution at 30 fps or TV or DVD quality. Everything else is terrible, and will STAY TERRIBLE as long as nobody gives any notice to phones that come out with good video. And gsmarena and every other spec sheet on camera phones thinks it's more important to talk about everything EXCEPT video resolution??

This is the BEST phone. 3.2 mpx autofocus with slot and swivel all in under 20 mm thickness. It's absolutely the best. Hope to see more pictures from the back. . . i think p850 will make better pictures

Wow..after benchmarking a few samsungi have to admit that its the best fone till now...the O.S gives the fone additional features which is great. but for now i think this jewel will be EXPENSIVE. any idea of the price?? any one in dubai can contact me i will buy one
