Gigabyte GSmart i300 - User Reviews

  • Please i have owned a Gsmart i300 for like two years now but each time i try to download any pdf file view it has always been my problem cos i dont have the application support so please a step by step answer on how to get this problem behinde me

  • Hi all I just upgraded from WM5 to 6. Can someone walk me thru setting up the GPS. I have Tom Tom maps and it gives me options such as Bluetooth, other NMEA GPS receiver, wired TOM Tom receiver. Which Com ports under external GPS in settings do I use Thanks

  • just to say i agree... describing it in 3 words, GO FOR IT

  • pls i just got dis fone last wk.but evtin is in russian language.pls anybody knows hw to change it to english?

  • I have a Gsmart i300 that has recently been bricked. Gigabyte would not repair it and claimed "water damage" although it is not water damage and the device still powers on. Anybody know a good service center in the United States that does repair on these devices? Or Anywhere for that matter... desperate

  • I have owned this phone for almost a year and have been very happy with it. Though it was not marketed to the US, it has worked flawlessly here. I just need to manually configure sms settings to recieve texts. My phone shipped with a second battery, so that may alleviate some concerns, although I have been pleased with battery life while using it. Battery life is reasonable considering how much I have used it. Nice assortment of Phone apps, bt I had to provide my own GPS software. Currently running mioMap off an SD card.

  • Are we getting free WM 6.1 with this phone? It's only a year old. I'm assuming we do.

  • If you are an owner of PDA, battery would be problem all the time. The problem is related to the excess usage of phone. I am sure that Most of the owners of this phone use the specifications of the phone frequently which is the mainly reason why the battery is being off. I agree that this phone is needed an extended battery but before that you should be careful about your usage. This is a great phone with its specifications and day by day I find new features.

  • Does it works, really? I live in Brazil and don't know they can post it to me. Anyway, these are the best news about the model i300. 920mAh is a joke!

  • what about this one? There is a 2400 mah battery for i 300 anyone tried or has any idea about the reliability of the batttery or the company?

  • it's not for half a day. it's ok for a student user like me..

  • Don't buy this phone! battery life is half a day and support is not working at all. I'm writing them every month with a simple question 'Where to buy an extended battery?' and still no answer for 8 months. Is this normal for a brand like Gigabyte? I don't think so. Nor I nor someone from my fiends will never buy thing with brand G****.

  • pathetic one.ugly mobiles

  • i need file of GPS for gsmart_i300. please send it to my email address . thanks

  • if someone has wm5 please check this, go take some pics in bright daylight when its sunny, tell me if your 2nd picture and afterwards are over exposed... because im not sure if its a i300 thing or wm6 thing, compare the pics anyway... but for me its really bad, i have to close the app and open it again and take a pic to get a normal exposure :( maybe its some setting?

  • I received an 1300mah battery for Gigabyte Taiwan yesterday. Very, very nice!

  • It won't work. Check out the pics of that battery and compare with your i300 battery. They are different.

  • ^^^ Go to ebay and search for Gigabyte i300 battery, they have the 02 battery, which some people say fit the i300. It's 1300mah!

  • I ended up selling my i300. It's an awesome phone, but the battery life issue was just too much for me. I need a reliable phone. Now it's back to my HW6515 until I find something better. HTC is coming out with a lot of great phones in the next few months.

  • i have no clue were you can get a 1300 battery, all i know is that they made the i350 to replace the i300 i bet, and it has the 1300 batery, though the case does not look the same so cant swap them... which is sad, i do agree i wish it had edge for those that might want a keyboard, think outside bluetooth works, but is not supported so you have the basic keys but not the programable function keys and what not

  • I have a gigabyte g-smart i300 and am trying to buy a Li-Ion 1300mAh battery for it. Can anyone please help. The original 920mAh is absolute rubbish and with minimal use will hardly last the day. ? Thanks

  • You're right, most people don't care. You shouldn't buy these phones with a camera being at the top of your list. You'll be disappointed.

  • The only down side with HTC 3600 is it doesn't have auto focus. A lot of people don't care much about that. I just like to point out the fact.

  • You can test how slow GPRS is on any phone. You might want to consider HTC 3600. Other model with different names are Dopod D810 or CHT 9100. That support HSPDA, 3G, Edge, buildin GPS and WM6. i300 is still a great phone but if you need edge and up. HTC 3600 would be the next best choice. CHT 9110 will soon be release in Taiwan. The price will be more than an iPhone. Which to me, is too expensive for just CPU upgrade and a little more buildin memory. I am still a happy owner of the i300 even without Edge.

  • Looks like the i300 does not have EDGE. Tell that's not true. I like everything I have read about this phone, but having only GPRS kills it for me. Question for those who have one: How bad is the speed? I need a mobile phone with GPS, EDGE, and Window Mobile (6.0 would be best).

  • yes i got the wm6 update working without any problem

  • Yes it does have autofocus.

  • does this phone have autofocus? I was checking their website, the only one with autofocus camera is the T600...

  • Has anyone gotten the WM6 update to work? I extracted to MiniSD card, put it in the phone, turned the phone off, pressed TALK, END, ON buttons at the same time, but it just keeps turning back on and not updating.

  • The eBay auction below is inaccurate. Take a look at your battery's power contacts and compare with the on displayed on that auction. On another note, since I got this phone, I have never been notified of new voicemails nor had a "voicemail waiting indicator" displayed when I have voicemail waiting. I am on AT&T's network. Any suggestions?

  • what about this?

  • Warhawk, I looked into the claim of the batteries for the Stealth PDA working with the i300, but unfortunately, the batteries are not the same. If you take a look at the battery for the i300, the contact points are in the middle of the battery. For the Stealth, the are on the side. Check it out here: compare that with your battery. SOMEONE PLEASE MAKE A HIGH CAPACITY BATTERY FOR THIS PHONE!

  • can somebody post the settings for this device for configuring gps with tomtom: harware port: baud rate: program port : if the windows "manage gps automatically" should be enabled : y/n if you've added a device in bluetooh / incoming port tomtom settings: other bluetooth gps receiver or other nmea gps receiver (and baud rate) if any other info please post it..

  • This phone is awesome--except for the battery life. If anyone knows of an upgrade, please let us know. I desperately need more battery life for this phone to be useful.

  • Hi, i read in a forum that the battery of O2 xda stealth (which is build from gigabyte)is compatible with gsmart i300!!! Anyone knows if this is true? cause there are many extended batteries -2400mA- for the stealth...

  • I own this pda for 2 months. Its really a great pda except of battery life.I found this site ,they make extended batteries for pda. They have already an extended battery for gsmart.I mailed them to ask if they would make a battery for i300 and they said that depends at the popularity of this model! If you are interested please mail them too to make a battery!!!

  • Great news. Giga shows off the new i350 at Computex Taipei. The i350 will release at Taiwan in July. I have listed the major upgrade from the old model. Quad Band 2.6" screen with VGA res weight 130g with 1300 mAh battery no info on 3G or Edge

  • to use the gps download a software for windows mobile calle iQue that is a garmin software to use the gps and you can puts maps from your city!!

  • yup im running it its all good :)

  • WM6 upgrade english is out, the english - turkey version, just go to main page go to the turkey link and you will find it

  • Have somebody tried this WM6 update, it should be for the english version:

  • Correction: Max baud rate is 4800. Anything over doesn't work. The GPS light will still blink but it doesn't pick up any signal.

  • TomTom works on WM6 without the use of GPSGate. Set it to COM5, max baud rate 38400. Thanks to "Green Apple".

  • If you are using traditional chinese, you can now upgrade to WM6 FREE. Hopefully, english will be next. THIS IS FOR TRADITIONAL CHINESE ONLY!!! You will mess up your i300 if you upgrade from non a traditional chinese unit.

  • everyone who has bought or will buy the i300 plz post on sites like a request for the i300 so that they would release accessories, they do it by demand the more people request the better or sooner they would release accessories

  • well i bought this one from ebay i like it a lot, the funny thing it came with 2 920mah batteries? one of hte AU ebay sites said it comes with 1 920 and 1300? that would be very nice... the phone is fine if you dont use wifi or gps or camera all of those devices eat up battery power quick, same as if you stayed on the phone for a few hours which wouldnt last now would it? but you would expect, a better battery all around... GPS is picky, need some other software or download the demo from the site manu, it has many options to set it up, the proper settings and auto dected them I was disapointed to find out that the review sits had those software but the ENG does not have some of it, just the basic stuff, also some places state FM and EDGE, but i doubt that i have only seen GPRS connections? Other problem is accessories, you can find for the i120 lots and the i but not this... i want the 1300 battery and case/holster i hope the come out with a new rom, maybe give some other software or something... all in all its worth the price, other devices you have to spend 100-200 more for same basic spects

  • I have but this phone from gadget-gear from e-bay. Realy bad seller after selling the phone he don't replay at my mails. The phone i have received have lot of Bug's. My camera has never worked. GSM signal is realy bad with my old nokia was my GSm signal 3x time's better than with gigabyte. I tell you guy's don't buy this phone right now to many problems

  • I recieved my i300 two days ago and it is awesome! If you are looking at getting yourself a smartphone I would say go for it. I do have a few issues with this handset though and would like to state a few of them. 1. The batteries (2 supplied) are rubish! Even though I am a heavy user and have not put it down since I got it, I would say that even in normal use the battery life would be insufficient, way insuficient! 2. No 3.5mm headphone jack! 3. The silver 5 way button on the front is fiddely. Even though this handset can play JAVA games the buttons make it nearly impossible to play most of my Sony Ericsson K800i games. My list of things I like about is much longer though and I will try to keep it short. GPS awesome(much better than Nok N95. I work in a phone shop)! Fast! Good size! Very well priced! I really love this handset and if I don't kill the batteries in the first 6 months I expect it to last me quite some time.

  • question guys... the n95 has a built in navigation... and this one has a gps receiver. what's the difference? would this need internet connection to work? thanks guys

  • to those who want to buy from plemix.. try the live chat feature.. one time i was checking something in there and i noticed it was missing, i double checked with the moderator (through the live chat) and after some time, they put it up there. really cool.

  • Any i300 owner have TomTom install? The dumb thing doesn't pickup the build-in GPS without GPSGate. They are going to release a new ROM soon. Hope that will fix the problem. ->> Yes I do, and you should just wait for awhile so Tomtom can auto detect it. Btw, why not use iGO? Better, I think!

  • Great review on P535, P800, i300 and X500

  • Great new for anyone who is trying to get their hands on i300. Some guy at eBay is selling them at a pretty low price.

  • Any i300 owner have TomTom install? The dumb thing doesn't pickup the build-in GPS without GPSGate. They are going to release a new ROM soon. Hope that will fix the problem.

  • Hi, i am interested to buy this pda from plemix but at their site they say that the package includes :1 Gigabyte G-Smart i300 Phone * 1 Li-ion Battery * 1 Travel charger * 1 User Manual.
